This Restaurant belongs to the category of Seafood restaurant.
Sunday brunch was quiet, tasty and the service was perfect.
The service was excellent but the food could have been better. The scallops were overcooked. The seafood platter, so much seafood but they all treated the same. The steel and crab, one little teeny piece of half crab leg. Soup was delish and that view!
The staff and the seafood are always top notch.
Dine in
Wonderful dinner with a spectacular view. I'm looking forward to trying their Brunch sometime.
the view was lovely ! It was good experience but food were not so good
Excellent food and service with a view.
Amazing food, views, atmosphere and staff. If you are looking to bring that special someone out for an amazing dinner, I would say this is the place to go.
Pretty good, don't get the hype about the view. Food was decent, salmon could have been less cooked and the beer more interesting.
Food was delish and fun cheerful atmosphere. Definitely will come back!
Service is amazing here. I love it. For all the times I've been, the servers always treated me so well. The atmosphere is spectacular. Great view.
Always a treat. Fancy place with excellent food and good service as well as some of the best views in the city!
Fine dining, very friendly staff, amazing service!
Delicious food, amazing view, and wonderful staff. It was quite expensive.
Lovely atmosphere friendly staff excellent food
We reserved via 'open table' arrived early, checked our coats and were seated almost immediately. The place was just beginning to fill up. It appeared to be a quiet evening. Our seating gave us a spectacular view of Vancouver with the clouds playing hide and seek! We were celebrating our anniversary and told our server about it. For starters we had the 'scallops', for mains we ordered the 'chinook', the 'salmon trio' and 'sandhill gamay noir'. Our service was prompt, and timely. We even had time to ourselves sipping the rest of our wine, truly a luxury, just what 'fine dining' should be! The crew were a diverse group and unlike some of the other reviews, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. To end a wonderful evening we had the 'torte' with 'wild goose port' and tea. I recommend the Salmon house, we would surely go there again.
What s beautiful evening. Wonderful food, service and WOW the views.
First time Came here tonight for a friends bday dinner, the view was absolutely amazing, and I had the best salmon I’ve ever had in my life! Staff are very nice! I’ll definitely come back soon!
Incredible food and an incredible view. A classic place that always impresses
The place and the view was excellent. The food was decent but it could have been so much better. I ordered a salmon, it was good it wasn’t something that makes me wow. Compare to other higher …
Beautiful touristic location of out-of-town visitors. Good food though expensive. Excellent friendly and attentive service.
Went there for wifes birthday, service was amazing and food was excellent
Wonderful view. Every table has a view of the city as it is a tiered setup. Food is fantastic. Hard to choose what to eat! Recommend anything lobster. For dessert the one with apple crumble is to die for! And if they have it, the passionfruit sorbet wonderfully comments the dark chocolate macaroons. Hard to get a reservation on special days like Valentine's. But worth the money. Service is good as well.
Exquisitely prepared food, but rather expensive! Stunning view of Vancouver from Point Grey (UBC) to Stanley Park.
Delicious seafood, friendly staff, go during sunset.
The food and atmosphere was absolutely amazing with amazing views. The food had astonishing flavors with beautiful presentation and friendly staff. Fancy place with views of the city, highly recommend for special occasions. Very very tasty eats
Great food and view. Pricey but the view is priceless.
Great atmosphere and music (saw Chico in the lounge). Staple place for us in west van
Great food and view! Will be back.
It's a good place to date. The view I believe is the best in sunny days and with dedicated dish. Wonderful!
Service was great but food was ok...
Awesome location, view of Vancouver, indigenous decor and super salmon. Loved the salmon trio entree!
Had dinner for my aunt's bday. Our server was professional and attentive. Food was delicious and view was great.
View is great, food and service are good too but can be slow.
I absolutely love this establishment! First off the Salmon House is aesthetically beautiful with an amazing view. Getting a window seat here is something truly to behold. The menu is absolutely top notch but is predominantly seafood based (in case you didn't get that from the name). There are quality non-seafood options as well. However they are limited. Everything from the appetizers, mains, & desserts are all top level. The wine list is very deep and high end. The service was fantastic and on point. Now...the Salmon house is NOT for those whose wallet is faint of heart. This is fine dining to it's core so expect an average price of about $80 to $100 per head by the end of the night. The Salmon House is definitely one of Vancouver's elite fine dining experiences.
Great view. Good portion sizes
I made a reservation about 2 weeks ago for my Wifes birthday, and requested a window seat. They had no window seats when we got there and seated us in the lounge, I had no view at all.I faced the bar.We tried to move to another table but they let someone else sit there instead. My wife was very upset when we left.We did not stay and will never go back!I Always wonder what other people have to do to get a window seat?Pay more I guess?
I took my girlfriend here for a special occasion and she was very impressed. The view is spectacular the service is Five Star All The Way. If you want to impress your significant other try this place out.
Elegant restaurant with beautiful view and great service. Oysters are so fresh!
Amazing food with a great view! ???? The staff is very friendly and the prices are reasonable! …
Excellent service. We take a group of 20-plus people here once or twice a year, and have for 15-plus years.
Loved it
Just had my first meal at the Salmon House after hearing great things about it. It is supposedly a high-end restaurant in Vancouver. But this was not the case. The Caesar salad was good. The seafood chowder was below average. The mussels weren’t flavourful. But worst of all was their SALMON DISH!!! I had to order salmon because of their name. But it was so dry and rubbery. I eat and dine at the best places around the world and also eat at dive spots as well, and that was the WORST salmon I’ve ever had. The service was very good though... hence the 2 stars...
Fish is great, wine is a bit pricey. Watch out if you drink pop, they will ask if you want a refill but it's not free (like most restaurants) and the glasses are tiny. Also, they charge for bread which seems a bit odd since many other places just bring it and it's complimentary.
Overall it wasn't a very memorable experience but the view was nice and the service was prompt. I wouldn't recommend it to others.
It is always a treat going there. The food is amazing and the waiter including even the servers are extremely attentive - something many high end restaurants unfortunately lack. This is all no doubt attributed to very competent management.
With breath taking views of the City of Vancouver and the inlet . The salmon house has amazing cocktails & some of the best seafood this province has to offer. Make no mistake about it this is a world class delight.
Feels like an upscale Red Lobster with an incredible view. The place could be updated, but I feel like the older decor gives this building some nostalgia with some of their customers. Cocktails aren't great and could easily be changed, but …
Food was delicious! Both, food and drinks came out so fast! Our waitress was excellent! Views are gorgeous, I recommend reserving a seat but the window. Great spot for a special occasion. Located right off the highway and had ample parking. I will definitely be revisiting.
The Sable fish, unreal. Service, amazing. Views, stunning.
I've always had a great time coming here for birthdays and special occasions and never had a questionable experience. Going this Sunday at 6pm for my wife's birthday celebration and I'll update this if it goes awry, but I can't see how that will happen. The negative reviews I've read seem pretty questionable...
Loved everything about this place. Service, Food, View! Such a treat.
Great atmosphere, five star food. Amazing views.
Best restaurant in the North Shore. Beautiful view of the inlet and awesome flavours.
I love Salmon House, great parking spots always enough parking, distance between tables, very friendly crew. Branch on Sundays. I really like to eat there, feel comfortable. Their sea food tower is great you can order variety of sea food and taste almost everything. Their bread and butter is so tasty do not forget to try Salmon Butter. i strongly recommended Salmon house, I always prefer for my business lunch or dinner, because it is quite.
a perfect place for fine dining ???? with astounding skyline ???? view of Vancouver! The reception and staff are amazing and made our big party a memorable event!
Food is expensive but worth it. Probably the best meal I've had in years. Staff was very accommodating of my dairy allergy, going as far as to find a dairy free dessert that wasn't even on the menu.
A solid 4-star restaurant and experience. Restaurant is large, dark, open with floor-to-ceiling windows and incredible view of downtown lights, and quintessentially West Coast styling. Even one week after Valentine's Day, busy all night, Sat. All parties lingered. Service is impeccable. Extremely professional and on point. I enjoyed my Duck Breast entree. I am not one for very rich food, but it was surprisingly delicate due to the berry compote and no fat on the meat. Spinach/goat cheese mashed potatoes were excellent. Creamy and zingy. My husband's 3 Salmon Trio, whatever they call it, seemed a bit overcooked, as other reviewers have said. If you like raw sushi, don't order this. And the seasonings a bit overpowered the fish, the point of which I think is to be able to compare Sockeye, Coho, and Chinook. We could barely tell a difference. Tiramisu comes in a wine glass and is deconstructed, not the best I've ever had, but fine. Cocktails not our favourite. The only issue was how long it took for entrees and dessert to arrive. Timing is an issue. (Is this the Canadian's way of saying 'slow down, enjoy the experience'?) But overall a very solid restaurant, elegant, classy, and the excellent waiter made the experience feel special. If you don't understand that and appreciate it, please don't go here and be on your cell phones all night (like 4/6 of the party next to us). The restaurant put the effort in to make a wonderful experience and so should you be present to respect and enjoy it.
Great views, friendly staff. Nice brunch, prices OK in US money.
stunning views of Vancouver through giant picture windows..brilliant sunsets, or rolling grey skies or a snowy Christmas.. the food is amazing and their desserts delicious!
Great service and Great food for reasonable price. Beautiful West Van setting with great city view.
Still consistently good after all these years! Staff were friendly and professional and food was fantastic. Only concern was that the servers were wearing these half face guards that sit on their chins and make their breath go upwards instead of a full face mask. I doubt it has any protection from giving or getting covid.
Great views. Wonderful serving staff. Standard upscale food, although a little expensive for the quality. The salmon trio is a great delicious way to compare different varieties of salmon. The risotto needed salt or to be cooked in broth, or to have the shellfish mixed in. Awesome fun and creative desserts! Unfortunately, like so many nice places in the Northwest, the clientele wears everything from suits and dresses to shorts and t-shirts, so it is not a solid date night if you are trying to impress someone!
Best seafood, best service, fabulous city and ocean views. Our go to for special meals.
Great service and really nice view. Food was very well presented, though salmon was slightly overcooked. The desserts (tried the Tiramisu) was fantastic, not what I expected.
Great view, and food, but pricey.,
We had a 40th birthday celebration at the Salmon House and it was phenomenal. Location was beautiful, service was excellent and food was delicious. They were able to accommodate us as a large party and not once did we feel rushed or forced to order from a set menu or pay a minimum amount. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Pricey but excellent service and delicious food. Ideal for special occasions and out-of-town guests. Salmon Wellington is wonderful!
One of the best meals I've ever had. The view is absolutely amazing, you can see all of the city from Burnaby to downtown to UBC. Great service even with it being very busy and the food was beyond delicious. Highly recommended!
Beautiful view, quiet and refined atmosphere, and a menu to die for. This place is high end dining at it's finest
Food is always excellent, service as well. Have never had a bad experience. Go on a clear day/night.
A nice restaurant with excellent YVR view. Good service. Mediocre execution of quality food. Lobster tails were exceedingly overcooked. It could be noisy when next table's customers do not acquire public ettitque, who like to "broadcast" their conversation.
Sumptuous surroundings, breathtaking views, extremely polite and helpful staff sadly let down by mediocre food. Plenty of parking
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind to pay premium price if the food is premium, but $125 “tower” is definitely not worth the price at all. Next time will go to The Keg or Boathouse where I get what I pay for. Ps: who the hell puts rosemary to the creme brûlée, that was seriously disgusting.
The Salmon House has a great menu with amazing produce as well as an extensive wine and beer list featuring both local and foreign products. The service is amazing and the view is unbeatable! It's worth a trip out to Salmon House whether you're a local or just visiting Vancouver.
Best place on the North Shore. Good food, awesome view, great service.
Good View, courteous and friendly staff ok food.
Worth it for the views, and the food is very good. Reservations are a good idea if you go at busy times. The sunsets and the ocean views are priceless. The restaurant decor is plain, but who looks at the decor when you see Stanley Park, Point Grey and the San juan islands in the large picture windows? I always have a good meal here, never disappointing.
Food was fantastic. My wife loved the atmosphere
Meal type
Our waiter helped us with our selections. Helped us make good choices. Food absolutely delicious. Service was outstanding!
Amazing food and view!
Great food, great view, great service!
View 10/10. Ambiance 6/10. Food 4/10. Same as 42 years ago!
The service was well below par for such an upscale restaurant but the food was amazing
Great place. Food was fresh and tasty. Service was super and that view......
Hadn't been in over 20 years and really enjoyed it. A touch pricey but view, food and service is excellent.
My family and I have been going their for years and have firstly enjoyed the ambiance and the view. I was rather shocked to be charged for dinner rolls pre dinner, never have I seen that before from an establishment like that ,cheapened the experience for us. My mother and wife both ordered the salmon trio of which portions were both under cooked ,close to Sashimi. The waitress then tried to educate me as to how Salmon is cooked, having grown up here on the west coast and been catching, cooking and eating Salmon many many years before she was even born. Anyways service was good they remedied the issues ,view as always was spectacular, however being charged for bread at a restaurant of that Caliber and two entrees substanderly prepared really cheapened the experience for me .
Great views and cuisine to match. Our server was just the right balance of attention and leaving us to our evening. Lovely date spot or special occasion. Book in advance to get a window table!
Excellent seafood. Postcard view and always great service!
I treated my mother to dinner here when she came to visit, she enjoyed the salmon and especially liked some ginger wine she tried (mum passed in 2016)am grateful she got to enjoy many visits and nice trips to Canada RIP mum ????
Salmon House is a charming establishment with unique features, however the place is quite dated and the dishes are not very sophisticated or tasty. We had a very pleasant visit as the hosts are quite warm and accommodating.
Great food and service... View is good too
Visited this place second time within relative short period and I never disappointed with the quality of the service. If you want to experience real West Coast culinary this is the place to be. The selection of the menu is carefully handpicked and well put together, kudos for the chef. You can start with some local wines and the appetizer are just as good as the main course. The service is excellent, prompt and polite. The restaurant is very quiet, perfect for date. Price is not cheap but for that you get a superb service in a very elegant and classic environment. The view from the tables is spectacular, basically you can see the whole Lower Mainland right from your table. There is plenty parking spots are available so you do not have to worry about that. The restaurant very close to the highway providing easy access for every direction. Reservation is easy since you can do it online but you can call them directly. Highly recommended restaurant if you want to impress someone or if you want to represent traditional West Coast food. Can't wait to my next visit.
The food is amazing. View by the window is also pretty amazing. Top notch service. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Just wow! Food was amazing. We got the seafood tower. Every floor was a taste adventure. Staff were very friendly. Cannot beat the view.
The food is decent but could be improved as it is on a pricey side The view is legit though!!
The senior waitress is very polite but her memory is not fully employed.
Best place for fish and best view in Vancouver. If you are price insensitive, this is THE restaurant for you. If $40 for an entree isn't your thing, then skip this place. I love this place for special occasions and on clear days where you get amazing views of Vancouver. Food ranks up there with the best upscale places. Food is consistently great. The service is also very good. Really, the only problem is the price. That's the reason I can't give it five stars. If someone else pays, I'd give it a five! Decor is a tad dated but still very clean, it's a traditional "West Coast" style that typifies Vancouver and its region.
Our company did their Christmas dinner here last night. The service was excellent, the food was fantastic and the views were awesome. We had an incredible night and enjoyed a 4 course menu that delighted all night.
Dine Out Vancouver Festival: Food was exceptional. Service excellent. I had reserved two weeks in advance for a window seat and, of course, they were gone when we arrived right on time. After suffering a few mealy-mouthed-but smiling-the-whole-time excuses, we accepted an inner-room table but I was annoyed. Still, the martini was good, the wait-staff gooder and the food goodest of all.
So good! We lucked out with the view since the rain stopped and we were there for Dine Out Vancouver which is nice also. Their 3 course menu is varied and we had the crab cake with tempura prawns and a little salad as appetizer, beef medallions with halved fingerling potatoes and julienned veg with a delicious reduction, and then the fabulous chocolate cheesecake. It was a superbly prepared, presented and tasting meal!
My number one place for a nice meal in the Vancouver area. Has a warm, cabin like feel inside with a stunning view overlooking Vancouver. The food is always great and cooked perfectly.
Reliable fancy restaurant with good quality food, they need interior and exterior renovations though.....badly
Amazing food and service . Going back for Valentines dinner.
I hadn't been to the Salmon House in years. The view was lovely as always, even though we didn't have window seats. The food was very good and my salmon portion was generous. My only quibble was that the salmon didn't have a strong grilled flavour I was hoping for. Also, service was top notch at a busy time. The driveway is really hard to spot. It could use lights on both sides.
The in-house smoked salmon was superb! Great wine selection and perfect service.
Wonderful, peaceful, romantic. We had the oysters and scallops to start, followed by sable fish and salmon. All very nice, with a touch of Christmas in the air. Our server Coleen, was all one could wish for.
Poor service, cold food and over priced. Nice view but that about it.
View is spectacular! Food is surprisingly good and service is ample!
The food was delicious and the service was on point. I recommend getting the seafood tower ????
Really excellent salmon. I had the dish with different salmon varieties (damned if I can remember the name) where I learned I actually prefer Chinook salmon over the popular sockeye (when cooked at least). interesting! great service as well. overall fantastic experience, worth the money.
> Food was excellent > Service was adequate > They didn't acknowledge our reservation request for a window in the main dining area (made request well in advance)... If you don't have that space available, just let us know. no communication in advance. > view of Vancouver is awesome!
Good food. Beautiful view of the city. Good service. I usually end up at The Salmon House at some point during a Vancouver visit and it's been consistently good for many years. A salad and spring rolls to start. Very good. This time my wife had the salmon Wellington, which, while I'd hesitate to call it "Wellington", was very good, as was my sablefish. Both plates well presented with a different variety of vegetables for each. Definitely recommended.
Went on dine out Vancouver, Great food, especially my pasta was awesome
Outstanding view, relaxing atmosphere, really good drinks and food!
This was a special occasion so we wanted to go somewhere extra special. As is my custom, when I arrive at a new restaurant, I asked the server what they would order. My entree was the halibut and my wife had the Chinook salmon. They were …
Lovely Ambiance and gorgeous City view from the west side of the City. Excellent food n service!
Food, view and service were all fantastic! I highly recommend the Salmon house especially for a romantic evening out.
The best sea food, service, view, environment for a romantic night. Absolutely love everything we go there when we want to indulge ourselves . Highly recommended. Thanks to the waiter, and the fantastic cook.
Classy with one of the best views around, hands down.
I really like the view and the location is convenient but the food is not the best quality just like a normal restaurant
This was a work related event. The food was fabulous and the service is what you would expect from a high end restaurant. The view is stunning!
Always a great place to dine. We have been coming here for years! ????
Beautiful views, delicious food, awesome service, reasonable prices. It’s definitely a top choice to go as a local and a “must do” if you have visitors.
Can’t believe I’ve lived in Vancouver for 20 yrs and have not eaten here. Place was amazing! Excellent food, amazing views, great service and there is not a bad table in the house. I had their halibut special and it was top rate. Their chilli prawn appetizer was so good! Worth the price of admission and I’ll be back. Can’t wait to try weekend brunch!
As usually wonderful experience with the food, ambience and service. The duck breast with orange sauce is a art. My special appreciation and respect to Sonya. She is gorgeous. We would love to repeat such experience for special occasions and usual routine with spectacular view.
superb setting. you must try the rack of lamb . its to die for mmmmmmmm
Ok, this is clearly a pretty special place to eat on a rainy Vancouver night. Warm and comfortable, intimate even, this place wraps you up like a wool blanket, and then puts plates of some of the best food anywhere in front of you -- Pacific coast salmon, fish, and seafood. Cooking salmon with alder is really the best for flavour -- easily better than cedar plank or other methods -- and the chef's here do bring the alder wood in because they know their flavours. The Salmon Trio is a signature dish, tonight I had coho, sockeye, and spring salmon all the on the same plate. Five stars.
Food is so so and service is only average. The price you paid is not reasonable, there are many other choices of restaurants. View from the restaurant is magnificent but you don't have to dine in to see it.
Atmosphere super fantastic, food was superb, service was terrific
Excellent service, but had to wait for a table when we had a reservation. Food was delicious and worth the wait.
I ordered a Salmon Wellington which was delicious, but I had to do surgery to remove shrimp from it. It was not stated on the menu that shrimp was included and I can't stand the stuff. Our dinner took over 2 hours with a lot of waiting in between course and a lot of not getting refills on water. The view was amazing and the restaurant looked great.
Made reservations for 1700 when they opened. They had a 3 course special for $35 which seemed like a steal especially since the exact main on the menu was going for $37. Manhattan chowder was good, but didn't seem spectacular. The scallop and sable fish were exceptionally prepared and plated. The 3 fish special was plated well, but I actually thought the Salman was on the dry side. Service was professional and prompt. The views are spectacular! If you can time it right it may be a neat place to see the sun go down. The only reason why it was 4stars is due to price. It would seem reasonable for a place like this to throw in the bread on the house. Desserts were also well prepared and a great way to end the meal if you aren't already full from the main.
The best view in the city. A must go if you have relatives visiting Vancouver.
Great food, great service, great view! No complaints.
My favorite spot in Vancouver area
Our group of 14 was extremely pleased with the quality of the food served and the great service we received in celebration of my wife's birthday. it truly deserves a 5 star rating! Jose, our waiter was very attentive, as well as the busboys. Thank you all for making this evening most pleasant!
Not sure what the hype about this place is, aside from having a bit of a view. Came with a party of 10 for Dine Out on a weekend night - the service was warm and the bussers were definitely on it for refilling water and such. The problem comes with the kitchen - after ordering, it literally took over 30 minutes for them to come out with bread (this is 45 minutes after our reservation time now), where about less than half were still frozen on the inside or just lukewarm. Thirty. Minutes. For bread. The restaurant was not packed anymore by then, and we had no update with regards to when food was to come out. While the server was apologetic and brought out a fresh batch (which, only took 3 minutes this time, hmm), it set a very distasteful tone for the rest of the meal (by the way, bread is not on the house unlike places such as The Keg). The "chowder" was overly salty, while the tartar had absolutely no seasoning or flavour in the sauce or the fish. Half of our party ordered steaks - "medium rare" came out as fully cooked to no tomorrow like a "well done" (big mistake ordering steak). The only notable parts were the grilled salmon and the desserts at the end really (not too sweet, great texture). For $45, there are so many other places of the same caliber who would not have so many screw ups. Really disappointing that the kitchen doesn't seem to have it together to match the decent service presented.
Wonderful food great service!
We enjoyed the salmon Wellington and watched a great sunset. Always a delight.
Won't regret whatever you order here. Great awesome view. Easy to park and also great service.
Have been going to the Salmon House since it opened. Have always enjoyed it. However, find the menu now a bit pretentious. I know it is a seafood restaurant, but they could have at least a good steak (without any type of seafood). Portions are a bit small, making this a bit expensive for what you get. Outstanding service!!!!!!!!
Top notch service and outstanding food.
This place is so old fashioned. It needs a face-lift. The view is great, during the day, but at night all you get is glare from the lights inside so you can't see anything anyway. Food-wise it's middle of the road, kind of meh, and overpriced for what you get. It's the kind of place you'd want to take your aunt for lunch or brunch. Hope that helps.
Was really good food and we enjoyed the view!!
Meal is good,Dessert is perfect. Service is excellent.
An excellent venue for a meal, or location to contact for a large event.
Took my wife there a long time ago, the food is great, service also but the view is priceless.
Great food and service! Atmosphere is really nice!
Fantastic seafood paella best I've ever had. Rich and an abundance of seafood that was perfectly cooked.
Great view, came early with a family of 4. Dinner was delicious, excellent service, family friendly. The peach sauce on the salmon trio was unique and amazing.
Food quality and prices don’t align. Service is also inattentive with dirty cups to start.
Terrible service, over priced food. We held a gathering here and 1/2 our guests had something wrong with the meal they ordered. Then when we went to use the deck to meet with a few of our guests they told us we were blocking the view and had to move - It was a rainy day and all you could see were clouds! So rude. Would never give them business again. Went here a lot in the past but it’s gone downhill and I’m so disappointed I held a special event here. Never again.
A friend turned 50 and invited us and a large group of family and friends to celebrate at the Salmon House in West Vancouver. This was held in the private room with a large veranda and a beautiful view of the city, harbour and the Lions Gate bridge. The excellent food was passed around on plates throughout the evening by the very attentive staff. The definite inclination towards seafood was very much appreciated by the many. The service was great and we had a great time. While we have always loved the main dining room for smaller get-togethers, we will certainly keep this venue in mind for any other larger functions.
5 star dining deserves a 5 star review Great memories
Great food and best service. The staffs are very friendly and the view is amazing.
Romantic spot with awesome views of Vancouver across the Burrard Inlet from West Vancouver. Location is 'off the beaten path,' with an unassuming exterior. However once inside the restaurant has a warm Westcoast atmosphere with First-nation artwork. Most seats will have a decent view in their terraced dining room. This higher end restaurant offers a good selection of menu items (kid's menu available), with well staffed service. For greater savings they offer Entertainment Coupon discounts. A large room with good views is available for private functions. From the dining areas there is access to a balcony to further enjoy the views and is great for photos. Onsite surface parking.#letsguide
Great place. Best of best in bc. Awesome view from this place
The view is perfect, food are okay, good service
Had seafood tower and it was good. Glad that they have kids menu too.
We come here every year for our anniversary and the food is always amazing, along with the service. It's a nice, quiet place with views to die for!
Good food, excellent service, amazing view!
The seafood is excellent quality and deliciously cooked!
Awesome view, great food and service!
For the price, the food was extremely lack luster. My crab benny was so insanely dry and tasteless. The service was great however.
There is not only an unbeatable view but the service is wonderful here. It's a great place to get "West Coast" food and you really can't go wrong.
Fantastice view, very tasty food. My obky wish would be the appetizers were a little more shareable.
This is west coast dining at its finest. The Salmon House has the best view and an amazing seafood menu. I've been here several times but last time I got the scallops and I think they were the best I've had. Service is always great and I look forward to dining here again.
Wonderful food, exceptional view.
Food was tasty!! Lighting was right and the vibe was enjoyable. Good service too!
Knowledgeable, friendly waiters; exceptional wines available for pairings. The food is unlike anywhere else - but the desserts are what I love about this place. Ice cream and gelato made in house paired with new creations every season!
Food is as good as ever. We would like to see the bar lounge opened back up with live music on weekends
Amazing! This place has been here since 1975 and still shows that with a unique location and amazing food, people will show up and enjoy! We had a fantastic experience with quick service and a great west coast flavor. We had a lot of seafood that plated so perfectly and tasted even better. The salmon was moist and flavorful. Tip...try to get a window table to enjoy the amazing view.
Always a crowd pleaser ... great place to bring out of town guests
Gave 2 stars for the amazing view and great service. Food was bland, outdated and overpriced. The Mussel dish resembeled mussels and hot dogs in a can of Heinz tomato soup, the sablefish was over smoked and the bread that they charged for was stale and cold. Very disappointing, especially at 40+ $ a plate.
Good quality affordable food. All dishes are tasty and creative
Beautiful view, reliable food.
Absolutely incredible! The food and service was devine.
The views were great but service was super slow. Waited an hour before we got our meals.
Great night view of downtown Vancouver and Lion’s Gate bridge on a clear evening. Dine Out dishes were delicious, sample appetizer, chinook salmon entree and Paris-Brest dessert. Cozy warm west coast atmosphere.
Food was good, view was excellent, great place for a special occasion
It was fine. Very old school restaurant. Dining room is spacious. Good food, but not an exciting menu. The Salmon butter is good. Appetizer sampler is boring. Looks like to me the …
A restaurant w/a view but terrible food and service. We came to Vancouver not only for the beauty of the city but also for good food. Unfortunately, Salmon House cannot cut it for the good food part. I ordered a Ceaser salad. It was the worst i have ever eaten anywhere in the entire world. They make that salad better in Yemen! Dead lettuce, soggy in some sort of oily dressing, definitely not the right kind of dressing. A piece of cold, rubbery bacon on the top. Their salmon trio was so over done, it felt like we were chewing on card board. When we complained the waiter's response was " i ll tell the chef" guess what, if there was a real chef in the kitchen they wouldnt serve cardboard salmon in Vancouver where they should have better salmon than most places in the world. The white wine on the list we ordered was also unavailable but the waiter conveniently forgot to take it off the bill, luckly i always check the bill so i noticed it. On the top of all, the waiter had terrible breath. He was coming too close to our personal space so we can smell his horrible breath better! BTW, the service was also too slow. We paid CAD$60 to the cab to get there and back. 1 salad and 2 orders of cardboard salmon cost over CAD$120. Overall we would have felt much better if we handed out CAD$180 to a homeless guy on the street. On the way out, i talked to the manager. She was completely helpless and lost. They say fish starts to stink from head to tail. After talking to the manager we understood even better why everything was so awful in Cardboard Salmon House. Incompetant management results w/poor staff and lousy food. First impression cannot be repeated. Salmon House miserably failed in their first impression. I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant to anyone. To be fair, I like to add to the above review that the restaurant reached out to me and refunded the money. This definitely was a good approach. I appreciate it. But that still doesnt mean I ll ever go back there.
West coast ambiance, consistently superb food, especially their salmon and the best view of the Lower Mainland
If you love seafood this is the place to go. Nice selection of salmon cooked many different ways. They can modify your order no problem. This place is a little more expensive but worth it. The waiter and staff are excellent. Was seated by a …
Great service & ambiance. Food was delicious. However, I would have preferred the salmon to be cooked just a little less well done.
We have been regular customers here for years and the food and service is always been good. But noticed portions are getting a bit small.
Very bad experience. Went 3 years ago and it was amazing. Then again this past weekend and wow I was embarrassed to take my fiance there as he had never been. Food was tasteless and the cook couldn't even get my steak right. Mashed potatoes? Really, they were like soup too. And I couldn't believe the amount of class people didn't have. Used to be suite and ties, now it's shitty sweaters and jeans. Never go there again, don't know what happened in the past couple years but it seriously sucks now. Had to go to McDonald's after! That says enough.
Salmon house is a West Vancouver establishment. If you enjoy seafood and especially salmon, this is your restaurant! Breathtaking views of the city will wow your guests (or date). Make resos and ask to sit by the window. If its cloudy, your view may be limited. The food is fantastic. They also offer Sunday brunch. They also offer non-seafood dishes if you arent into fish.
If you ever want a quiet place to enjoy your meal with view. This is one of the place for you. Food and service was exceptional and totally recommended for casual gathering or special date.
Good place. Good food. Near my house.
Great place for the view. Excellent food and service.
Spectacular taste, great service, and well presented too.. all wrapped up with amazing views and great ambiance. I'd recommend this place to anyone ????
A fabulous place for a special occasion - the night time views are amazing! Our favorites were the salmon trio (to sample 3 different salmon types - yes please!) And the peach cream cheese ravioli - to die for
The food and service was amazing as always ???? !
This is our most favorite restaurant on Vancouver. Wonderful view and great food!
This letter was sent to the management. We have not heard from them. Obviously, their service is lacking in this area as well. For the owner of Salmon House on the Hill ~ On September 20, my family and I came to your restaurant for a reunion dinner. We had family come in from out of town and we were excited to take them for a fine dining experience in Vancouver. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing, hence this e-mail. To begin with, our meals were inconsistent. We ordered 2 steak dinners, the halibut, and a Tower for 2. The plates came out hot, but the food was lukewarm. On top of that, the halibut on both the dishes (halibut and the Tower) were over-cooked and the steaks, ordered medium-well, were medium- rare at best, not pink but red. We asked for one of the steaks to be re-fired, and it came back just as rare, so while the rest of us continued to eat, one of us waited to receive his meal and in the end was still not able to eat it! Being such a highly rated restaurant, we would have assumed the chefs would have been able to cook a steak to order, especially after it was sent back! The most disappointing part of the evening was the service. Our server, Sonia, was indifferent and did not offer any apology for the errors. She avoided communicating with us, but did tell us that the manager said they’ll take the steak dinners off the bill. There were a couple other minor incidences that showed the amount of attention and care she gave our evening - very little. By the time she placed the dessert menus in front of us, we had no further interest in spending any more money to continue this experience. Had Sonia offered up even a slight apology, we likely would have let some of these circumstances go. For this kind of restaurant we expected a better dining experience, and certainly a higher standard of service. We came to your beautiful restaurant really looking forward to a wonderful evening but instead it ended up being a complete disappointment. I would like to note that the star of the evening was the water girl – she was prompt, courteous, and friendly. For future reference, I would strongly recommend, at the very least, the manager acknowledging the letdown in service to your patrons by giving an apology to compensate, and show some effort to make things right – simply taking something off the bill isn't always the answer. He/she knew of the situation and didn't manage the situation well - it cost your restaurant any thoughts of repeat business or recommendations. We went to The Beach House Restaurant the following night and the food and service was perfect. Our server was Kelsey. She was fast as a rocket and super-friendly.
the best salmon in america! and if you add the view you will have the best experience...
Great view of the lower mainland. Service was slow. Prices on entre on the higher end but I guess you're paying for the view.
Slightly Over Priced, but great view and environment, way better than what you got at SFU...... SFU stands for Simon Fraser University, but I my point, it deserves "S** F*** U****"
Unfortunately the only thing going for this place is it's view and location. The quality of the food is mediocre at best and when you factor in the price I think this is not a place worth the visit. I guess you come here if you're a tourist and want to get a great view of Vancouver from West Van? Otherwise this is not a place that will impress foodies.
Decor is slightly dated, however the food is wonderful! Service was top notch as well. Our server was a male, can’t remember his name but he gave great recommendations.
Delicious food and great service.
Awesome food, perfect view, great service and comfortable atmosphere
Expensive..staff act as if they own the universe
I've been here many times for different occasions, and haven't been disappointed at the quality of service and food. Dining on a normal weekday gives you a more personal service with time to enjoy the view. During the dine out period, they can get busy, but food quality is still on par (and above, if anything). I have also attended a wedding reception here. Although the layout can be a bit tough, they offer two level seating, so more people can see the love seat head table. Their service that day was also spectacular. They offer Open Table reservations, which is a perk as well. Only down side is that the drive up and parking lot can get quite dark, so drive in with a friend or know your route well.
Had a great meal here with family that we were visiting at the time. The Meals were great as were the Oysters to start with. The staff were very friendly and also very accommodating as we asked for some steamed vegetables for our 7'th …
Food was delicious ???? Staff were great ????
Excellent brunch! Food was tasty and the best view of Vancouver! Service was quite robotic but polite. I recommend the crab omelette and the salmon Benedict was average
This is a great place for dinner as their food and service is impeccable..the view is just amazing. Now...they offer brunch on Sundays and is excellent!...most people just associate this restaurant with dinner but their brunch menu is fantastic. Highly recommend it for brunch !
Surprisingly excellent dungeoness crabs here. Perfect service!
Smaller portions but great service
Consistently great food and service. A warm and inviting restaurant with the best views around!
The food was mediocre but the mussels were tiny and not fresh. The dish I recommend you having is the salmon trio of whatever they call it
So many good aspects to this place but a couple of disappointments. Great view, we had a window table which was special for our friend's 70th birthday. Easy parking. The seafood chowder was very tasty but broth was a little thin. Wonderful caesar and greens salad. Crab Napolean tasty. Everything well presented. The mussels were a disappointment. I prefer my muscles in a wine and garlic sauce but they were served in a sauce that tasted like barbeque sauce. Altho the presentation was lovely, some of the mussels at the top were cool as they are totally out of the sauce. When I commented on the sauce we were informed by the waitress we could have ordered a wine and garlic sauce, but you have to ask for it. How do clients know this? For a high end restaurant, especially given the prices, the service from our waitress was disappointing. First she spilled water on the table and only wiped up a small amt of it. The bus girl cleaned it up when asked. Second, when we asked about the mussel sauce her response was we could have asked for the wine sauce. Why coyldnt she ask which we preferred... her response was she is not allowed to tell customers there is a different sauce!! As it was a special birthday I thought they would at least have some little dessert with a candle.... When this didnt happen we asked for the bill. Your saviour. Ami was asked to speak to us about the sauce. She was kind, friendly and very professional. She listened, apologized and said she would speak to the chef about adding the choice to the menu. Then she gave my friends a top up on their wine. And she brought a small dessert with a candle for my friend. By this time our waitress was totally ignoring us... Ami came and settled the bill with us. Ami saved the day for our experience at your restaurant. She was incredible!!
Food was great and the staff were excellent.. you can't beat that view either!
This place used to be good. I'm talking about an observation of over 10 years. They used to be known for their fresh baked croissants for brunch, their great service and impeccable management staff. Well, on all three fronts they have declined. The last few times we went for brunch - some days they had fresh croissants and some days they didn't - no consistency. Their service staff has really declined also. They used to really screen for highly qualified servers - after all, it is supposed to be an fine dine restaurant - I mean, you certainly pay for it. But, the service staff doesn't reflect that currently, and the management also reflects those they choose to hire at the present. Today we went in for brunch and we didn't have a reservation. Not once in all of these years have we been turned away because there was not one single table available. However, it wasn't that which really turned us off, but rather the reaction we received at the front. When we asked for a table without having a reservation, we were treated with such disrespect and hostility that it was shocking. What was even more unbelievable was the waiter that has served us for some many times pretended like he didn't even know us, and seeing that he had waited on us before at least half a dozen times, was really disappointing. Then the manager came up front, and she was even worse. No apology, no appreciation, no sense of service. It was pretty much like, "no, no table - you should've booked a table!" and more, the look on her face was so rude and so cold that I was surprised they let her even manage. Honestly, this place is not what it used to be. Save your money, your time and your evening. Too bad!
The food was delicious, service exceptional & we asked that they not bring the entre too soon & the waiter timed the meal beautifully.
very relaxing place and the seafood platter is just beyond amazing , service is just so so though.
2nd time been here. The food is always great
This was a very beautiful place for us and our family. Diane was excellent she went over and above to make our event special for us. The food was amazing. The view over looking Vancouver is spectacular.
Great date night. Beautiful view, great food and awesome service. First time here but won't be the last.
This is my family's favorite dining place. By far, better than any restaurant in Vancouver. Offers greet service, Delicious food and beautiful View.
This is the place you must go, if you are in Vancouver. Perfect food from starter to dessert. Nice customer service, and great atmosphere and view. You've never regret!
The salmon is some of the best I have had large wine list and fantastic view this is a high end dining establishment
Came here for Dine Out 2019. Great food as always.
Hubby & I went there last evening for an early "Valentine's" & birthday (we like to beat the rush). We arrived early (30 min) for our reservation and were very well received and placed in a comfortable area prior to being seated (10-15min max) They checked in on us at least twice during that time to keep us updated as to a our table status. It was evident to us that there was a culture of teamwork as everyone was pitching in to get tables cleaned and ready regardless or 'position or status' as it was a busy night but no one was flustered or gave any sign of negative attitude, they were all smiling!! - what a wonderful witness! Our server Arturo was 'speed on wheels', very knowledgeable about his products and helpful with the wine list, Bravo! Probably the best meal out we've had in years!! I have food sensitivities and had absolutely no reaction to anything! When our friends come from France, the Salmon House will definitely be on our list of 'to do's' as they so much appreciate our beautiful BC and our seafood! Keep up the great work!
Seafood done with the utmost detail. This chef is very good! The views are the best and a Friday night when Chico plays piano is special.Chico toured with Marvin Gaye...motown lives right here!
We went there for lunch, it was totally disappointing, the food was horrible. The service was also a bit off. I definitely wouldn’t recommend. I had the lobster soup as appetizer and really it wasn’t tasty at all. It was too salty and tasted like old fish. After, I had the classic wild grilled salmon. It was really nothing special at all. I could have made this at home easily. Also, it was quite dry. Overcooked. Very bad. The view on that day was also not so nice. Very cloudy. Also the smell inside the restaurant is not appetizing. It smelled like the restaurant was few centuries old. Kindly avoid.
Excellent seafood. High prices, but worth the cost for the quality, service, and view.
Excellent service, friendly staff food was good, not as good as expected. View superior
An experience, reading about it just wont do, go, enjoy the stunning view, the exceptional service and the food, oh god the food
Good seafood and service plus a commanding view of Stanley Park and Downtown Vancouver
Come for the view. It’s spectacular. The food is pretty solid. Lobster was delicious but next time I might not go for the whole lobster just because of the work involved dismantling it. Servers were very friendly although one of them may have been kind of new.
Our host (assistant manager) was amazing! Our view was very nice. Our server did not look like he belonged in a high end establishment. Unshaven, hair not combed properly. clothes and apron were dirty, and bad judgement skills when recommending food. Also he wasnt very attentive. What a way to ruin mothers day brunch. Our mimosas did not taste like they had a drop of champagne in them, basically we feel like we were fed juice for $10/glass. Also we noticed other servers standing around with their hands in their pockets. Not somewhere that I would recommend for anyone to go that didnt want to waste their time and money.
The food is good for persons that enjoy fish and seafood, and there is a good view of the sea
Wooooow. The view. And the baked cheesecake dessert. Going back just for that! Lamb dinner was amazing too. Too good.
Yet another great find in West Vancouver. Was delighted to find out about this places' heritage and what it meant to the Northshore. It is definitely a couple's place - we shared the seafood tower upon recommendation from the waiter and it was pricey but worth it. If you are into seafood, I guarantee you will not leave disheartened or disappointed. Plus, who can argue will such spectacular views...
Hade a wonderful evening at the Salmon House for a 50th Anniversary party...including a delicious dinner. My Mrs had the Alder Grilled NY steak, medium and I had the Alder grilled Wild Salmon. Both were delicious and followed by their Apple Tatin. The views pver to the city are quite lovely. A great restaurant, great service and very popular. Worth the visit.
This Restaurant is breath taking, beautiful city view while enjoying amazing food! You must try it out!
Great food and great service. Amazing views. DineOut menu was amazing.
Food very good! Great view!
The good. Excellent food with a stunning view to boot. The restaurant is known for serving high quality food plated like artwork, and a beautiful view of Vancouver from the North Shore. Between the view and the food, the actual open, spacious, and properly lit atmosphere doesn't get it's fair due. It is a beautiful restaurant. The odd. It's important to set the right tone for your guests. Asking them if they're from around here isn't the best opener. It can leave an odd feeling and after thought.
Great view but food was average
The service was ok, when normally it is great...my food was horrible, when in the past was spectacular...so disappointed...all that money paid for food that almost made me sick ???? will not try again any time soon ????
One of my favourites on the region. Good food, friendly service, reasonably priced, and outstanding views.
Service
Fantastic view and delicious food with kind service. Lovely place
Lovely view and atmosphere. Food is delicious, but I have to order a starter and main course in order to not feel hungry after. But it's all so delicious!
Overprice bad food average service but amazing view.
Amazing view of Vancouver from the dining room. Great seafood and friendly staffs.
The food was well prepared and presented however it is quite noisy in there. It can be missed as the sign is not lit up at the entrance. The view is gorgeous and if you like lots of people around then it's a must go to at least once. Portions are small so be prepared for that.
Get the seafood tower for the experience, and get there early even with a reservation to get a window seat for the view.
Sunday night - the restaurant was only about half full. Got a nice corner window table with great views of Vancouver downtown. Food was excellent and service was equally great. Prices are on the higher side but with restaurants with a view, I believe a price premium is added. So value can depend on what table you end up with.
Amazing vue and delicious seafood!
Took my girlfriend here for our anniversary amazing view and very good service. The food was delicious and very fresh.
I thought the service was good but the prices were a bit high for the value/quality of the meal. The clam chowder soup and mussels were way over priced and were disappointing for taste. View was great but I probably won't go back.
My wife and my daughter took me there for Father's Day. The food was great
Had a birthday dinner here with my friends recently and really enjoyed the experience! Service was very very good and so was the food! I had a chance to get the dine out course and everything was just really delicious. It was raining so the view wasn’t too good but I think it will be amazing if its sunny out. Definitely a good experience, thank you!
Great food, awesome service. The salmon (kids meal) was great, my kid loved it!
Our 130 dollar dinner was not worthy of repeating. Came here in 1988 for the MOST amazing seafood I can remember. We ordered the tower for 2 at a cool hundred and a 3 course 40 year Anniversary November Special dinner too. There was no mention of the spice in the seafood chowder or the pepper in the crab salad. It got switched to the cesaer salad that did not have enough dressing on it although fresh and crisp. The salmon candy was a hit with my date; she said it reminded her of her Alaskan cruise. Then we had the Carribean lobster. Yes I said Carribean lobster. (?!) Our East Coast has phenominal lobster and yet it was from the Carribean. It tasted like frozen lobster; I saved most of it to take home for my another family member to enjoy. The lobster was steamed and grilled and definitely not worth the fuss and cost. There were grilled scallops that tasted like the ones I buy at Costco. They were good; nothing exceptional. The grilled asparagus was great and the mashed potatoes too. The prix menu came with halibut and salmon, green beans and mashed potatoes. We were too full to eat that so it got packed. The dessert Petite Four were fantastic. There was a raspberry chocolate ganache ball, a mini lemon merengue, a layered chocolate cake and a raspberry macaroon with fresh raspberries sandwiched with raspberry cream. A deluctable finish to an otherwise satisfactory meal. I suppose it is true what they say..sometimes you just can't go back...to the same food. The view however, is still BREATHTAKING. We had a lovely and memorable experience with the wait helper as he seated us. His genuine kind and attentive manner left me inspired to tip him seperately. Our seasoned wait person was going through the motions and yet Andrew attentiveness to my date was SPECTACULAR AND STELLAR. Andrew truly deserves a promotion to wait person or Front of House..yes that good. I trust my date will remember this dining experience fondly. She will definitely remember Andrew; I know I will.
On Jan 1/2015 I had a terrible experience with Salmon House service for my husband's birthday. 1. When I asked the waiter "Is there any special?", his answer was "NO". 30 minutes later the people from next table asked the same question, this waiter answered to them politely about the special and explain to them patiently. 2. After finished the dinner, there were nobody to clean our table and bring the birthday cake, we waited for more than 20 minutes before my daughter had to tell the other waitress that we need someone to remove all the dirty dishes. 3. The same waiter just brought the birthday cake and left on the table, there were no singing of happy birthday song ..... 4. I heard a lot of rumors about the staff do not treat the oriental people nicely. Now I see that with my own eyes. 5. this is the last time I will dine in this restaurant.
Busy, make a reservation. Food is good but very expensive.
Beautiful view! Great food.
A romantic restaurant witht great food, amazing view, smooth Jazz music and kind staff. We loved everything about it.
Great
Service and food presentations, quality are proper 4 out of 5. Not a five though.
Fantastic restaurant with an amazing view. Top notch food with great wait staff. Perfect for everything from casual drinks in the lounge to a wedding
This was a beautiful place on the hill with a spectacular view of Vancouver along with the lions gate bridge. Went here for Valentines Day and everything was just perfect.
The view is amazing but the food is just ok. We were there for an event. Our veggies were undercooked and the seafood was cold by the time we got it. It looked amazing but was a bit disappointing. The service staff were excellent and friendly. For the price, I'd make sure you went on a clear day or at sunset. Great atmosphere.
Beautiful view! The food was delicious but very expensive. Wonderful service.
Went for dine out. Excellent. Great view. Food and service top notch even for Vancouver standards. Great attention to detail, cozy atmosphere for special occasions. Would be back to try regular menu . Recommended.
I asked my wife to marry me here not to long ago , what a great experience, the staff was amazing they catered to all my needs as they made our night very memorable , the food was wonderful and the view stunning. Great time thank you .
Nice place. Busy. Reserve a table. Expensive. Good food but very little of it.
Lovely views,great food and service
What a mistake. I'd be happier spending 100$ on two big macs. As for tower for two, the crab salad sucked, tuna sashimi would be good if it wasn't covered in what ever they covered it in to mess it up, in the tower for two there was only 1 piece of fish and about 50 cents worth of vegetables. Two shrimps and two scallops ( to be shared by two people so 1 each ). The lobster tail tasted like licking a spoon of salt. With two drinks ( 1 of them virgin ) it came to little over 120$$. Never again. Comparing this place to a restaurant like McCormick & Schmick's ( or their Canadian version The Boathouse ) on a scale from 1-10 The Salmon House is -9 and M&S is 7 ( The Boathouse is 4 )
Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Lovely ambiance allowing diners conversation. Great food and service. The view is amazing :)
I had my parents in from Ontario and really wanted to take them out for a nice dinner to showcase Vancouver. I had heard rave things about the Salmon House so I made reservations. Aside from the spectacular view our visit here was aweful. We had made a reservation and had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. It would have been okay if they were busy but the dining room was half empty! The service was slow and non-responsive. We were seated and never offered water. After placing our drink order we did not see our waitress again for 20 minutes at which point she came back to see if we were ready to order it meals - no drinks in hand We decided to order our food and reminded her about the drinks. That may have been the last we saw of her until our bill came. Eventually we received our meals and about half way through the meal our drinks came. Hooray! The poor experience didn't end at the service. The food was overcooked and cold(!), lacked any salt or seasoning, and just seemed uninspired. The fish and chips my dad got made Captain Highliner look like high cuisine and the portion of salmon on my mom's plate was smaller than a deck of cards. As we were ready to leave the waitress brought the bill and said "Hope you enjoyed everything". If the half-finished inedible food wasn't an indication, then the disappointed looks on our faces should have been.
Little pricey, "gourmet" portions, ridiculous view, overly helpful staff. Great for a fancy occasion
Great views and great food. Amazing place for good ocasion
Great food and views can't go wrong.
Dinner
Amazing views over harbour and city. Great brunch menu, very delicious and fairly priced.
Salmon House on the Hill is a fine dining experience so is on the higher end for cost but it's worth it. The servers are excellent, the view is amazing and the food is absolutely delicious! My only 'pet peeve' is that, at the price of the wine and food, if you want bread, they charge you for a small basket of it. My family and I feel that it should come free with the meal.
Amazing food, excellent atmosphere. Very good service overall. And let's not forget the views, definitely worth going on a clear day/night to get the most of it.
Awesome restaurant. Nice view. Amazing seafood. Had the Chinook Salmon, wifey had sablefish.Excellent service. Nice artwork, Highly recommend.
Always a good meal with a great view.
Ambiance is amazing, but the food is not as stellar. I will not be dining here again.
Good view but food was about average. Staffs were nice. Small portion. Even dessert was plain. Not impressive.
We had a wonderful early Valentine's dinner. Food was fantastic. If you order the lobster papardelle, get it without the chorizo sausage or it will over power the lobster.
Great service! Great view! Fantastic food! I had the sable fish and it was done to perfection! Highly recommend this restaurant.
Maybe it has the best view in town.. Great service and atmosphere in the lounge... I can't say the same with the food though unfortunately...
I highly recommend this restaurant. I took my wife here for our ten year anniversary. We loved it and we were very well looked after. The entire staff were exceptional .
Came to this restaurant with my grandma for her birthday. Must say the service was quick, probably because the restaurant was quite empty. Bison carpaccio was delicious, amd was very pleased with the wine selection as well. However, the mains are very overpriced for what they give you. I ordered the most expensive item, the lobster white cream sauce pasta, and was expecting a fantastic dish. The lobster was cooked well, but the pasta and the dish as a whole was mediocre. Not pleased at all, I can cook so I could have made it 10X more flavourful myself at home. If I am paying $40 for MACARONI, I expect something that will blow my taste buds through the roof. Couldn't even finish the pasta, it became so bland. My little brother ordered the kids version of the pasta and they cheaped out so much, it was the smallest portion I have ever seen for a kid. He finished it in literally 3-4 bites. Very sad. Was expecting either a larger quantity of food, or a much better quality considering the total for the dinner cost $300. Not coming back for mediocre food.
High class fine dining, with an excellent view of the city. Prices are slightly on the high side of reasonable, but the experience is worth it.
Great view/food. We had a great time
Lovely views my alder grilled steak with poached eggs was done to perfection. Service and atmosphere is first class.
Truly great expierience and our waiter was always available and acomodating. Food was awesome, great evening view of the city.
Great food and service! We are never disappointed. The food was all delicious, right to the very different but amazing cheesecake for dessert. Overlooking spectacular views of Vancouver.
Great service!! From the moment you walk in, your every need is being catered to. The view is phenomenal and the food is even better. The Salmon Trio was absolutely amazing!! It was a treat to my taste buds. Our first waiter Joe made the experience really wonderful. We will definitely be returning when we visit Canada again.
Awesome food and the best view of Vancouver.
We come every 3-4 months for brunch... and it’s going downhill steadily each time. Today’s brunch was a big disappointment. First, the weeds are growing pretty tall (3ft!) and the outside deck is pretty dirty, especially on the outside of the ledge... they used to keep it really clean, but it hasn’t been weeded or cleaned at all this year. My wife’s latte was gross. Hot milk with coffee grinds floating in it. Our waitress proudly said she’d made it. 1 shot in an 8oz glass of milk. We argued it wasn’t a latte (espresso drinks have 1oz per 4oz total volume) so she had another shot pulled. Equally grainy. Very sloppy coffee work, definitely no barista training. My appetizer salad was smaller than ever. And the $8 shrimp upgrade? 2 tbsp of frozen tiny shrimp tossed in mayonnaise. Side salad with my omelette was wilted and the dressing was flavourless (just oil?) I had to really dig around my omelette to find a tbsp MAYBE of salmon. My wife’s hash brown portion? Less than half what it was last year (we have photos!) ditto with the smoked salmon. 1 thin piece on each side. Less than half of the portion from last year. It took the waitress nearly 10 minutes to figure out how to use the gift card, I figured the machine out eventually. It’s really too bad, the view is great and the staff seem keen and clean... little tip, when a visibly pregnant customer asks for a cocktail or coffee? Don’t act surprised and ask “are you sure?” Twice. Don’t insist on decaf for us. This isn’t 1970. We are adults.
Good view and ok service But food was terrible, Salmon was over cooked, lamp was cold and not tasty. Chicken fingers from kids menu was actually chicken strips and was not fresh . Definitely does not worth the price.
I took both my mother and my brother's partner for their birthday dinner here on June 26th. I had heard of the restaurant as Chef Mario had spent a short period of time working at our care facility and had mentioned his restaurant previously. I'm glad I took the opportunity to take my family here as the food, ambience, and service was wonderful. Our server Colleen made sure that we were taken care of. The salmon trio was enjoyed by both guests of honor. Dessert was also quite decadent (A serving of the blueberry mint frozen yogurt and the creme brulee). The view of the city scape only further added to our evening. I look forward to a second opportunity of revisiting here again in the future.
It was great, location is amazing..
one of the best views in the city. Beautiful place. I'm a foodie and the mashed potato was my hit (and I'm not a big fan of potato!). Everything was incredibly delicious and the service impecable.
Delicious food and fantastic view
