You will see all the feddbacks of people like you who consume the products of The Crazy Canuck (Restaurant) in the territory close to Waterloo (Canada).
To this day the firm has a score of 4.5 out of 5 and the score was based on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is virtually the best one, and it is founded on a high number of opinions, so we may think that the rating is very faithful. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they are satisfied with the service, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to give feddbacks when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Canadian restaurant.
Good burger. Clean but grubby decor. On our second trip we tried the brisket but it was 60% fat. That said we'll still come back for a burger and a pint of dead elephant draft. Cheers.
Best poutine in the region for a very reasonable price. The portion sizes are massive for the cost and the quality is always amazing. If you like hot gravy and lots of cheese curds then this is the place to go! Employees are also very friendly and responsive!
This is definetly one of the best restaurants I've every been to. The burgers are juicy and flavourful, the poutines are made with real cheese curd and there gravy is delicious, pizza crust is housemade and has a perfect crisp outside and a soft inside and the pulled pork sandwich is one of the best carolina style pulled pork sandwiches I have ever had. If your looking for amazing food for relativley cheap bill considering what you get this is the place and promise you will not be dissapointed.
Brought a friend who never had poutine before, and we certainly were not disappointed! Definitely going to make repeat visits so I can try everything!
Great food, great prices, and awesome service! What's not to love? I work just down the street from them at the Waterloo Innovation Hub, and I've recommended The Crazy Canuck to multiple people. I've brought guests from Europe and the States, and they all love it :) Keep up the great work guys!
Woah. Poutine Heaven. I had poutine topped with brisket, ribs, and I don't know how many other amazing meats. The gravy was groovy and the serving size was way more than substantial. You get what you pay for at this Waterloo landmark. It was hard to find a seat in the small venue at lunch, but once settled in, the environment is casual and comfortable to a key. I am going to be a regular here.... and I guess I'll have to become a regular at the gym to work off the calories.
Our order was supposed to come with soup - instead of the staff member coming over to our table to apologize, he brought the meal with fries and set it down without saying a word, maybe hoping we wouldn’t notice? When it was pointed out that we ordered soup, he said “oh yeah the guys in the back burnt the last bit of it, that’s why you have fries,” terrible customer service. The Caesar salad was nothing to write home about. The fries were admittedly very good, but otherwise the meal was pretty forgettable. We won’t be returning.
Forgot to make my food (simple order not busy) then forgot to make my friends, who added a burger and small fries mid meal in a second order. He had to remind them to make it. They also got that wrong and gave him a poutine and burger when he ordered a small fries and burger because his daughter didn't want poutine. And when he got home he found that out when it was too late. I honestly think that they were high. I've never seen such incompetence. I've never regretted tipping but I'm considering now tipping after I get my food at a place where you order at the counter instead of tipping when I order. Why have the assumption that anything is going to go right and they deserve a tip? They sure didn't deserve the tip money.
Amazing food and service! The staff is extremely pleasant and kind. The poutine is one of the best I've ever had! Highly recommend going here!
This place is worth going to. Prices are decent and the food is pretty good! I've only been here for the first time today. I had the "Best Burger" with a side of poutine. The burger was really good and the poutine was even better. The real star of the meal was the fries - super delicious! There was a bit too much gravy for my liking but it was some good gravy and the fries and cheese curds made it very delicious. The decor is pretty nice. It has an old style with records and their album art decorating the walls. There aren't as many indoor tables as outdoor tables which may be an issue during bad weather. I haven't been there during busy times but I can imagine it could get crowded at times. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. All in all, I highly recommend giving The Crazy Canuck a try.
Stopped by for a pizza on my dinner break - they were super busy but food was still fast, fresh, hot, and amazing. You can tell they care a lot about what they do.
Fun atmosphere and good service! The pizza is what you typically go for but the poutine is pretty amazing. You get a good size portion and they do not skimp on the cheese!
Phenomenal food, great staff and amazing owners. One of the best spots in the Waterloo Region. If you’re thinking about eating here, do yourself the favour and grab some!
The relatively high ratings brought me here but I left disappointed. I had the pizza which was really more of a mushy mess than a meal. And just to warn you the garlic cheese bread is just the pizza without the sauce. When you have both items at once it's definitely overkill. I've since heard that it's the poutine that draws people there but I don't think I'll be back to find out.
Excellent place with a distinct canadiana, 70's vibe. Serving up everything from amazing pulled pork and wood fired pizza to all day breakfast and spectacular daily features. Whether you want a pint with your poutine or an awesome bacon burger, this place has you covered
Great food, poor service. The large man behind the window told us he'd call us when our food is ready. Other people had ordered after us too and he said the same thing. Everyone was sitting nearby the window. We waited over 30 minutes and got up to ask how much longer it would be and the grumpy man said, "I CALLED YOU LONG AGO!" The other waiting customers got up too to check if their food was there, and he blamed them aswell for not hearing him. We all were sitting in front of the window and none of us saw or heard him say anything but he made sure to make it clear that it was all the customers' fault.
The burgers were delicious. The fries are hand cut and they're generous with portions. Solid 5/5.
Amazing food and wait time is very short. All the workers are very kind and care about the consumer. Definitely try the baked Hot Dog, the burgers, and the poutine if you go here! Portions are well worth the money. Love this place.
I went there today with a friend and we had the pulled pork poutine and a Canuck burger. The gravy on the poutine was full of flavour with well cooked fries (the same ones that accompanied my burger) and cheese curd pieces that did squeak. Two of us could have shared this poutine; it was that filling and tasteful. The only complaint was there could have been a few more cheese curds. The burger looked a bit ordinary at first, but after sampling the bacon cheeseburger with all of its items, I tried the burger by itself. It was very flavourful and one of the best pure burgers I've had. The albums and album covers decorating the walls were a good selection of great artists. Not just any album that would cheaply cover the walls, but the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Doors, Woodstock, etc... The place looks nice and I'd expect that they would serve decent food, but what they deliver for the price is extremely good value and very tasty.
Love the food. A must try. They have seating arrangement both indoors and outdoors. Only in outdoors lot of flies will try to take the share of your food :)) ample parking space.
Great service and food! Weird place for a vegan, I know, but their quinoa burgers can be made vegan by having no cheese and mayo. They were delicious and the fries are nicely seasoned and crispy. I nice IPA to wash it all down for a nice cheat day meal! Everyone was happy and bellies were full!
Do not get take out! Got 2 poutines to go, a pizza & buffalo. Buffalo one was ok, nice & hot compared to the other. (Ate it just outside the restaurant). Pizza one was cold, they clearly use old fries since it had that old fry taste and the peperonies were raw. These high star reviews are not deserved! This is my second time here... both times food wasn't worth the money. My bad for giving it a second chance. Take out portions are half the size of you stay in but the same ridiculous price! Will not be back.
Met a couple of old friends here for lunch. The atmosphere is quirky. The walls lined with old LP records and album covers. Not many tables, but nearly all of them full. We had a beer while we caught up and chatted about old times. Not too many choices of beer, but a couple on tap. There are no menus, the daily fare is listed on blackboards. Many variations of poutine, pizza, soup and sandwiches. You order and pay at the counter, then the friendly staff come and bring you your meal. We all had a delicious seafood chowder with a loaded grilled cheese sandwich. Very nice. We plan to meet here again in September.
Food was okay. Prices were a little high. The first thing you will notice is the overwhelming stink of dirty deep fryers. I'm currently looking at antiques in the attached building and all I can smell is dirty fry oil. The bathroom isn't accessible from inside the restaurant. Can't see myself returning. My coat is going to smell like a deep fryer for a while now. Disappointing overall.
What a fun, unassuming place! Food was excellent and the staff were so kind and friendly. It’s a hole-in-the-wall but you won’t regret stopping by for a meal. Reasonably priced. Be aware that it can be very crowded on weekends/market days.
We stumbled upon The Crazy Canuck after shopping at the market. It's a small space with a fun vibe and cool interior. There are album covers posted on the walls and tables and LPs across the walls. The menu is not grand but there's something for everyone. We ordered 2 chicken club sandwiches. They took awhile to bring out our food but it was definitely worth the wait! The chicken was tender and juicy and tasted like charcoal BBQ! It was fantastic! Better yet the fries...probably the best fries I've ever had! I took off a star only because seating inside is very limited and the menu was a bit difficult to read as it's chalk board and hand written. Other than that it's fantastic. I will definitely return here!
This location is NOT as good as the Ontario ST. location at all. Every time we order the beef brisket hoagie with a Greek salad we are disappointed. This location puts hardly any meat on their sandwich the beef is salty and the greek salad is not chopped up and is missing the incredible feta cheese we love. Not worth $9 for a Greek salad. The Ontario street location puts more TLC in their food and they load up that hoagie with beef. We paid $65 for what? We will only be ordering from the Ontario Street location from now on.
The BBQ brisket Poutine is the best I've had! So much flavour and texture, and friendly staff. Highly recommend

We sometimes come to the Crazy Canuck to grab lunch for the office. The location is fun with lots of crazy Canadian theme stuff on the walls. The staff are very friendly and fun. The food is fantastic! The pulled pork is a must try! We will definitely continue coming by for great food!
Great tasting food, quality ingredients at a good price for what you get. I had the canucked ribs, with a ceaser salad. Fantastic. Plenty to eat and enough to share or take home. Fantastic friendly service. They really care.
Been here twice, for what you pay, you do get an enormous portion. It’s expensive but worth it. The food quality is also pretty good, it is good poutine, but not mind blowingly awesome. Lots of parking and you order at a window. Got the crazy canuck poutine both times.
Brisket sandwich and the dry rub bites are ???????????????? highly recommend.
Service
Quaint and funky decor, very low key. Food was delicious: taco pizza was a particular favourite, along with the smoked meat poutine. Be sure to top off your meal with a beaver tail ... it's delicious!
Super friendly staff, yummy food. Be prepared for huge portions, count on taking some home for later. Endless coffee refilled with a smile. Love this little gem.
Take out
Poutine was awesome. Large pizza was good but very small for a large. Greek salad not great and dressing not Greek
This place makes the best pizza I’ve had in my life- the buffalo chicken Tuscan. WOW. Deep dish cheesy goodness. If you don’t want to eat in you can also call ahead for takeout.
Pulled pork was amazing. Home made fries are to die for.
Small place next to the market, very quaint and the staff are extremely polite and helpful. Their sizes are extremely generous and will leave you full for hours. More importantly, the food is amazing. The pulled pork sandwich is fantastic and the poutine with pork and ribs was everything you’d hope for. Highly recommended, was in the area for a conference for 4 days and didn’t even consider going elsewhere for lunch after the first day.
The Crazy Canuak was tasted good!!!
Good food, just seemed a bit cold. It was take out.
Good food, but the service was slower than molasses, 50 minutes for 3 burgers and 2 fries. The tables were dirty, and the chalk board menu is hard to read and figure out, my wife ordered the portobello burger but you her surprise, no meat. I probably won't go back
Fun place with good pub/diner style food. Good music playing with vinyl's on the wall.
I challenge you to finish the "PPP" my goodness it's ridiculously filling and delicious!
Liam and team offer up amazing eats. Get there now if you've never tried their food. Smoked meat Poutine is a must. Taco pizza is unique and delicious as well with house made dough.
A special to remember!!! We had the biria tacos tonight and they were to die for. We live about 15 min drive away from the Kitchener location and were concerned about the temperature when we got home. To our delight the tacos were still pipping hot. The biria tacos are a feature we saw on Instagram and knew we had to try them. We cannot wait for them to be back on special so we can get them again. 10/10 for flavour and crunch
This is our third time returning to the Crazy Canuck. The service is quick, the serving sizes are generous, and the food is unbelievably good. Recommended to anyone looking for a quality meal at affordable prices. We are glad we don't live closer because we would be ordering from here all the time if we did. We will be back again in the future in any case.
How did it take me this long to eat here?! Fabulous!! Looks a little rundown on the outside, but don't let that deter you from going in. Funky decor, walls covered with records and record covers. Wide variety of food, a must try. I think this will be my new favorite eatery. First time visit, definitely wont be my last.
Best poutine in the area! Great Guys, great mission and it all comes from their love for community.
Great food. Cold beer. The employees were super attentive. We will be going back many times.
Food always delicious and there is always lots of it. We go there for lunch every time we visit St Jacobs Farmers Market.
Excellent truck stop / dinner / cafe food! In a good way. They have some delicious twist on the classics. I have the poutine which was MASSIVE for under 9 bucks. The whole restaurant has a really nice theme and great touches such as each table is theme after a famous band. Plus they serve beer for the nice lunch time drink! ???? highly recommend.
Came here with two hungry boys after a hockey game and left satisfied! Food was great, only took about 10 mins after ordering. Ordered portabello burger and side soup (buffalo chicken), pulled pork burger with poutine, and pepperoni deep dish pizza, all were tasty and good portions. Great all around atmosphere too.
This is a great place for what it is. It's basically a window where you can order food and then sit outside. Coming from out of town, we did not realize this and thought it was a sit-down restaurant. Whoops. But I'm still not going to ding them on that, because we returned the next day to grab some poutine and loved it.
Ordered from them last night and the halifax donair pizza was unreal! We got the "weekly special" that also comes with garlic bread and that $20 special could feed 2 people very easily!
Dinner
Food is flawless . Amazing flavor. Ribs are killer . Big portions . Hidden gem .
We came here since we needed a place on the north side of town and what a hidden gem! The waitress was friendly in explaining how the ordering works (counter-service) and the atmosphere definitely seemed Canadian. The food was fantastic, we spent ~$40 on the pulled pork sandwich with Montreal poutine, chicken club with soup and two waters. We were stuffed and to top it off, the kitchen gave us a free snowshoe dessert. Great first experience and plan to come back!
Great flavours. My issue is the deep fryer isn't hot enough That results in the fries soaking up the oil, ratherthan jjust cooking in it I had a Poutine and the flavour was great but the oil-soaked fries are making me feel gross
Awesome eats, great decor and friendly staff. Going back soon and often!
Great food, a surprising variety of poutines
Meal type
First time ordering from the Crazy Canuck. It was a great experience and I highly recommend it. We ordered ribs and a pulled pork sandwich. Everything was delicious, ordering was easy, and pickup felt safe. This won't be our last time!
The food was decent, but it took a long time on Canada Day. I appreciate that they were open, but they should have made it clear to folks there was going to be a wait. Several people asked for their money back while we were waiting for our food. They seemed to be understaffed and I remember them being better the last time I was here, so I'm rounding up to 4 stars from 3.5.
The dtk burger is an experience not to be missed!
Amazing food! Literally the best poutine I have ever had! The Crazy Canuak Lager tasted good and was a great pair with our meals.
I ordered the DTK Poutine and it was an amazing decision. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Unfortunately the patio area had a lot of flies buy what can you really do about that. All and all one of the best restaurants I've eaten at couldn't recommend more
Awesome pizza. Nice chicken burger. Ribs were excellent. Meaty and fall of the bone . Fries are also excellent ????????????
This was the best pizza we have had in a long time!! Fantastic!
Yep lots of flies, expensive for quality of food and amount. Have eaten here 3 times. The last time my 3 boys were with me. Food took way too long to arrive. They each only ate 1/2 of their meals and they have big appetites. Not recommended anymore. I suspect anyone giving a 5 star rating hasn’t eaten here more than once.
What an amazing place. Loved the environment in there. I had their (apparently) famous pulled pork burger! That was very good! One of the best burgers I've had! My friend has beef and loved it as well! The place can only seat so many so beware of you're going with a big group, or in the lunch hour. It looked it in the summer there is outdoor seating too. Plenty of parking available.
First time at The Crazy Canuck. I had The best burger and smoked meat poutine. The burger was fantastic, made with high quality beef. The poutine was fantastic, unique and authentic at the same time. I was told that the pizzas were amazing so I will try that next time. A great, simple establishment with a large patio and a small selection of craft beer on tap. I'll be back soon!
Defines Canadian food. The quality and service here is astounding and, I dare say, worthy of people visiting from afar to try. Many places steer away from their cultures food to try and appeal with experimental foods. Crazy Canuck prides itself with Canadian foods and the Canadian experience. We have brought many people visiting from abroad here. My only criticism is that I hope that they can get a larger place. The location is great! But I feel like they could explode into a much larger location. I wonder what they think of the matter.
This used to be one of my very favorite places to eat ... I loved that they smoked their own meats ... I loved the variety of options ... and that they are right next to the farmers market .... I hadn't been there in quite a while ... dropped in the other day and was very disappointed. There was an absurd amount of flies in the whole place ... in the dining area ... I could see them in the back where people were cooking ... and no one working there seemed to mind them.. 0 notable efforts to rid the place of them either ... this with price increases on things like a can of pop (2.25) I really doubt I'll ever be back now ... it's a shame really.
The food is tasty, and you get a lot for your money. Just be aware that this ain't "health food" by any stretch! I had the teriyaki chicken pizza, which was a decent size and was quite good. My wife had the smoked meat poutine, and the portion was huge. Maybe it was this particular combination of entrees, but when tasted side by side, the pizza seemed to need a bit of salt, while the poutine seemed overly salty. I do recommend their IPA, which paired really well with both dishes.
I've eaten s lot of burgers...even in Alberta. This was the absolute best burger I've ever eaten!
Great place to go if you are craving comfort food like poutine or pizza. You order at the counter and then they bring food once it's ready. It's very casual and not very big. The decor is all Canadian band album covers. The smell of the deep fryer is a bit overpowering. But the service is excellent and the food is very tasty.
Good food. Good service. It is just not an easy access if you dont have a car
Just give me the DTK and leave me to my absolute bliss. My favourite burger, hands down. Huge, delicious and is followed by the best food comas. Brought clients and family here. Everyone left shouting hallelujah from the rooftops.
Best Burger is the best we ever had.will be back .
Could've been because of being their off season, but the food I got was greasy, and underdone. Could only taste oil in the veggie burger. Fries were dried out and not cooked through. Couldn't finish half our food. There is an okay selection for vegetarians, but if you want something healthy and fresh - this isn't the place to go.
September 28 2021. I got small fries. I got to the car. They were cold. Went back a few hot ones were put on top. The worst I have ever had
My husband and I had the Crazy Canuck Food Truck cater our wedding which (other than marrying each other and a few other tiny things) was one of the BEST DECISIONS we made that day. Poorly seasoned, dry chicken is one of my only pet peeves, and I was just so happy to not have fallen into the wedding food/"meh" chicken trap. Guests enjoyed the meals and the variety of options - all of which were just so tasty - the staff and owner are great and we've not been disappointed a single time since that lovely day. It's now been a few years and (even through Covid) the service, food (we're huge fans of the half-a-dozen poutines we've tried) and affordability have been above average. Easy place to recommend!
Good food, decent price, retro style. Not going to be everybody's favorite, definitely worth a try though.
Drove by this place a hundred times and never knew it was there. I'm glad I finally checked it out with my friend for lunch. Will definitely be coming back. Owner is very nice. Try their poutine. It is top tier. Comes with a small side of ribs. Very unexpected, and delicious.
Super delicious food. They have really great vegetarian options too. 10/10 would recommend. My personal fav is the quino burger. The poutine is also on point.
Dry ribs were inedible. Thumbs down from two other humans and one dog.
A small and cozy place right around the corner of a highway with a great view and an amazing food.Try their special hotdog which they are famous for, it’s gigantic.
I tried the donair poutine this time and omg it was so good! Fries, gravy, cheese curds, Shawarma meat, donair sauce, onions, tomatoes and lettuce. 10/10
Unique restaurant with a unique environment. Food was good. Customer experience and comfort is not a top priority. The air conditioner was on full blast the entire time, which made most customers feel like they were freezing. When 7:30pm came around the music was dramatically turned up to the point that I couldn't hear what my friend was saying. I guess they want everyone out by 8pm since that's the time they officially close. Like I said, it was a very unique experience...????
Main food was pretty good. Their poutine is 10/10 worth getting, so delicious. Service was okay. The price was kind of expensive, not sure if the food is worth the price.
A great spot to go to for lunch. The burgers are my go to meal, but the poutine I also really good. Nice to sit outside when it's not too cold but there is a small amount of seating inside as well.
The burgers here are pretty good, though mine did fall apart while eating it. The fries were okay and didn't taste quite as fresh as I had expected. The interior is a little small, so I can imagine that it would be difficult to find a place to sit if it was busy. When I went, though, it wasn't a problem. Good place to visit if you're at the farmer's market and want to grab some lunch.
For my first time, and it being a pandemic, it was okay. Hot dog was somewhat filling. The poutine, I expected to have more fries and stuff in it, as I was told it was equal to the same amount as another business that has since gone out of business.
The food is great and the canada decor is really cool with Record albums on the walls and the tables. The food is really good lots of different types of poutine to try and tons of other food to try. The service is really good everyone is friendly would definitely recommend to any
The service is wonderful! The poutine is incredile; made with fresh cut potatoes, sauce isn't too salty, loved it! The huge hamburger was tasty and fresh made with real meat, not just a boxed party. Their snowshoe dessert was wonderful. All in all, great experience. The place itself has a unique decor. Record cases one one wall - all Canadian singers and groups. Records all around the seating area are quite a style I highly recommend this oldies, rustic restaurant
One of the best burgers in the region in a unique and interesting little, hole in the wall location. This place could be on triple D with Guy Fieri. The various poutines and pizzas are also great and the staff is outstanding.
Met up with a bunch motorcycle enthusiasts with my St1100 and it was my first time there. No bad we place to eat and had fresh cut fries. Did not try anything else but what I saw it looked good and good size portions. Will be back again.
Nice retro atmosphere, but more importantly the food was delicious! Prompt friendly service.
Overall very tasty food. Try it if you are in the st. Jacob's area.
Incredibly delicious Canadian cuisine! The Buffalo Tuscan poutine is an absolutely unique flavour combo that needs to be experienced. All-day breakfast, "best burger in town" and a wide selection of poutines and other foods. Friendly and helpful staff. We'll definitely be back and are also excited to try the Duke St location.
The food is really good and the service is fantastic. Prices are a bit high but everything is made in house so I think it is justified. Wish there were condiment options that didn't involve little plastic pouches, as it can be pretty wasteful opening 4 packets of ketchup for a meal of fries.
Take out
Great experience today at The Crazy Canuck! We brought our hockey team here for lunch. With our time crunch between games they were organized, fast and the food was awesome! Lots of options for all. Look forward to coming back.
I LOVE their Applesauce ribs! And their pulled pork sandwich is awesome too, full of flavour and packed with a lot of meat. My only issue was the fact that they didn't have bottled condiments like ketchup. So i had to open ketchup packs while eating, like i was in a drive-through. It was a small inconvenience, but overall, this place is amazing.
The best restaurant in Waterloo. If you haven't been here, you should check it out. The boneless dry ribs are amazing, every pizza I've ordered has been great, poutines are the best in the city and the burgers are awesome! Edit: Update for 2022. Everything is still as awesome as ever! Hot Dog was legit, The Crazy Canuck Poutine was Massive and the Garlic Cheese sticks were great!
One of my favourite restaurants in kw! I almost always order the smoked meat poutine. Its so much food that i always have leftovers to take home. The pulled pork is just amazing! The vegetarian options are great as well, i especally enjoy the ratatouille. All the ingredients are locally sourced which i think is great. Very friendly staff and a really casual atmosphere.
Just had best fish and chips...very tasty, nice portion, glad to help out locals in these Crazy times...
very nice portions and the food tasted amazing ... we will be back. we tried the pizza, poutine, crazy canuck break, the canuck burger ...
This place feels like a blast from the past with its decorations stemming back from the 90's, 80's, 70's, etc. They serve uniquely named foods with huge portion sizes. I had the Crazy Canuck Burger with Smoked Meat Poutine as the side and it looked as good as it tasted. When it comes to poutine; a good gravy makes or breaks it and their gravy flavour profile is on point. The prices were more than reasonable considering how much food you get. The Crazy Canuck is a great place for those who want to have a greasy, but satisfying meal.
I ordered a poutine and it came with no cheese curds or gravy. Also got a burger that was very overcooked and dry. In fairness my wife ordered a smoked meat (I. E. Pulled pork) poutine and the meat was really good. I think this is their specialty item.
Food was not great, burger was huge but bland, ribs were pretty bland too. Service was very very slow. Menu was hard to read. The place was pretty dirty, we had to wipe a table for ourselves. We had to try it because of the great reviews - but the price tag vs. the quality of the food/quantity/service/atmosphere do not balance. Maybe we went on a bad day? I really wanted to like it.
Always on time as set for skip the dishes never had a problem with pickup also tried the food very delicious food
Amazing food, great staff, great place to take the family or order out. Very much recommend. Do not hesitate to order the pizza despite this being a "Canadian" fast food joint. Could not stop running to the fridge before bed for "one more slice"
Quaint little place that has some delicious burgers. The patties are high quality and they have a delicious jalepeno mayo to compliment the fries. Glad I stopped by today.
Great food, nice and relaxed atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon, staff is really friendly.... so this place has the whole package
Fun, Filling, Friendly, Foodtruck, Food! Fancy-not. Some fun and unique combinations served in a fun setting. Buffalo Tuscan poutine, Taco Pizza, and tall Canuck burger were all great! I want to go back and try the rest of the poutine combinations. Prices are reasonable, similar to The Works. Crazy Canuck beer was just ok and typical. Counter service but fresh made and brought to your table, the staff were friendly and accomodating. In trying to describe it, it seems like the building was built around a food truck with the same sort of vibe. Good in that it's fun, but obviously not as clean or refined. I think the other location in town is more refined. Good outdoor picnic bench eating area. Hours are shorter too, closing at 8pm. Right across from the St. Jacobs market and outlet, and beside TSC. Lots of parking. Overall I gave it a 5 but the rest of my family said it was 4.
I brought 1 buffalo poutine and 1 crazy chunk poutine and total came up to 32.65. When I checked online through skip the dishes it showed 23.75. Upon asked her why I was charged more, she said they increased the price, I understood but I dont understand how I can still order through skip the dishes at 23.75 (27.31after tax) but I had to pay 32.65 for pick up? Just help me understand and I will change rating back.
The staff is friendly and helpful. It's a locally owned and operated and the food is delicious! Fresh cut fries, amazing toppings, compostable take out containers, it's everything you could want.
Overpriced, Disgusting and Pathetic. Pulled Pork Sandwich - It was on a TINY store bought bun that was dried out. The meat was old and burnt. Overall the sandwich was slopped together, burnt and tiny. Poutine - Small, uncooked fries, hardly any cheese. Hospitality - Disengaged, lack of enthusiasm, Apathy. PRICE - 20 F'ing dollars....for that! With no drink! Rip Off! Couldn't even finish the sandwich because it tasted so awful.. and the poutine sucked. 0/10, Avoid!
Food was delicious and service was so friendly!
Food is so amazing, I am addicted to it. Service is great, staff is very friendly. Environment is clean, child friendly and lots of things to look around at. They serve their own beer, have have many twists on a Canadian favorite. If you're looking for a truly Canadian experience I highly tecorecom The Crazy Canuck.
Tolerable, but over-priced. Tourist prices, i.e 30-40% markup over what the same meal might be elsewhere. I ordered my pull pork with slaw, but it came without juiciness or flavor as well. My lunch companions fish was overdone, perhaps even twice fried. At $17 for the pork, fries and a canned pop and $16 for a single piece of fish, fries and a canned pop we both expected either larger portions, more flavor, better cooked or something else. Couple that with the only available condiments being packets jammed into a cup and counter only service... I'm not sure the quality or value is there to compel me to return.
A bit difficult to get to for an office lunch due to the distance/location, but found their pizza to be quite fresh and tasty (Tuscan). Colleagues who had sandwiches and soups were also pleased. Ordering process took place inside, which meant party wasn't defined and the food was staggered across a 15-20 minute wait - really not ideal. Pizzas took the longest, but getting to eat them on a patio was nice.
Fun place and yes!!!! Best burger in town as reviewed by Adam and Marcel and oh yea Jay says the chicken club is a 5 as well. Cherry can talk as she is gorging on poutine. Awesome place!
Great pulled pork, poutines, and deep dish pizza. Smoked meats galore, big patio, serves beer on tap and in cans. Staff are nice. Food is excellent. Price is medium, but you get what you pay for.
Love the food. Excellent BBQ Brisket Hoagie and really friendly staff.
Decor is minimal and it was coolish inside. Music was a bit too loud BUT the spicy chicken chowder was fabulous and my son said his burger was great. I had planned to have the portebello mushroom burger but they were out. Glad I tried the soup.
Ordered two classic poutines this evening and asked for some extra toppings. They had everything we asked for and made us an amazing meal. Even sautéed our mushrooms and onions in white wine. Thanks so much for going above and beyond!
The food is amazing here, you must try when visiting Kitchener/Waterloo.
Amazing food at good prices. Definently of the best poutines around :)
I found this little restaurant online and am I glad I did. I drove past the antique building across from the St. Jacobs Farmer's Market lots of times and never knew there was some of the best food I've had in there. I walked in and thought this can't be the place. Never judge a book by its cover. The food is awsome with large portions and very fresh. They have a good variety to choose from. If you're up for a challenge try the Crazy Canuck burger. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. It's now one of my favorite places to eat.
People that ordered their food after me were getting their food before I got mine and all I ordered was a small fry
Dinner
I had heard some great things about this place and was excited to try their "amazing poutine". It sucked. It was plain with barely any cheese on it and the gravy was clumpy. We had to pack up our food and leave about 3 bites in because of the flies swarming us. Ended up eating in the car. The restaurant was dirty as well. I wont be back and i definitely wont be recommending it to anyone else!
Best description is... visit the area just to stop at Crazy Canuck for excellent food!!! I love the the Po Boy Poutine - what a great blend of flavours! Have also had the Smoked Meat Poutine they smoked the meat themselves! YOU GOTTA EAT HERE! is and understatement!!
Great food! Love the specials, will always go here. Have not been to the other location. Pulled pork is always great, fries are homemade and their burger is incredible.
Good food but the seating is very limited. They have tables outside but its usually very windy and at this time of the year not a feasible choice. Even if you do sit inside the tables arent accommodating but the booths look okay. I like how they have a simple menu that seems to cut a lot of average menu items in favour for their specialties. Id much prefer this to looking through a larger menu of decent things. The food is also relatively high prices for the portion size, but the quality is definitely present in the dishes. The food alone is where all the stars come from because it is really good, but id feel wrong giving it 4 stars based on the establishment. Would reccomend.
A pretty good pulled pork sandwich an poutine. The pork was perfectly cooked and tender. The only flaw was the sandwich needed more sauce. I'd suggest they add choices of sauces. I look forward to trying them again.
I have visited the Crazy Canucks when I go near the St. Jacobs area before and it is one of the few places to eat if you are going to the market. The food is pretty good. You will however pay a premium and there are long wait times. It's fast food, but it takes a while to cook so you will be waiting a while. I recommend this location nonetheless, as the staff are friendly and care about their product.
Best pub grub around! Tasty twists on old favs. Crazy Canuck is one of Waterloo's best kept secrets...and shouldn't be a secret at all. Crazy good poutine! Discovered it for the first time this summer and now it's our go-to place to satisty our burger cravings.
Absolutely delicious. Great value, huge servings. Everything tasted fresh as if made from scratch. Excellent service when placing our order over the phone as well as when we picked up. Very obvious Covid 19 protocols in place and safety prioritized. Will definitely order again. We LOVED the ribs, buffalo chicken pizza and the poutine and coleslaw too! Everything tasted amazing and was well worth the cost.
Best poutine and burger in the area. Always friendly & quick service. Patio could use a face lift, but it is a character place.
I have to say, some of the best customer service I've ever had, paired with some delicious food! There was a mix up with our pizza and they happily remade it, and threw in a poutine (there was a miscommunication about the one we ordered) and a dessert. I felt so bad but they were amazing! The pizza has the perfect crust, we had the donair and oh man, that garlic sauce is to die for!! The poutine uses amazing fresh cut fries, delicious thick gravy and the best squeaky cheese curds!!! If you're hesitating coming here, let me tell you, do it! It's worth every penny!
Stopped in for a burger and fries. Very tasty and enjoyed the soft bun. Great service. Food arrived piping hot. Will definitely visit again. I understand the pouting is super good.
I was here a year ago for my second year anniversary. It was a lovely experience with only one raw pizza hiccup. This time the servings were so tiny and sad. My husbands chicken fingers were chicken nuggets. The fries were eh. And my poutine was small I think because I was a girl? I'm not sure why the poutine I received was small but the person beside us had a huge platter! Besides the small portions the food tastes good! Very disappointed though about how much it has fallen.
Great food. Best garlic and cheese fingers I've ever had
My wife and I tried the Classic Poutine. I've heard plenty of great things about it. The price seemed a little too high but the quantity made it worth it. It was enough for both of us and the poutine tasted great. I'll probably be back to try a few more items.
You get exactly what you went their for. A full belly and happiness. The owner has come in, twice, while I have dined in. Both times he gave everyone free dessert (beaver tail). I have eaten their food truck at several events, same greatness. Excellent job all around. Edit: Went again, still great. Will return.
The most bombest poutine I have ever had in my life
Dined in once; was a good experience no problems food was tasty although slight over priced. Ordered take out a few weeks ago; this was not as satisfactory. Ordered a hot dog which came with tomato and mayo (was not specified on the menu) so we were unable to eat this. So just be cautious when ordeing as you may not get what you expect.
Moderate food at best The best hamburger in town was a let down would be better grabbing a burger from Burger King. My wife had some mess with French frys looked nasty as heck. Staff moves food in and out of the door right beside you and drink out side as you walk in. This place is a hole! Any one who says this place is amazing is on drugs. Don't waste the money
We were part of a hockey team (Clearview Canuck) this past weekend and what an amazing place. Food was excellent, service was great, atmosphere was amazing. Our hockey players were fed very well, parents were happy. I would definitely recommend this place!!!! Thanks guys for everything.
I've been fail-ordering lately. Of the last 4 pizza places, I have called only one of them back, and they too are closed now. At first i thought the pizzas looked small, but they make up for it in sheer pizza weight--these things were massive with their toppings. Still cheaper using skipthedishes then many others. Teriyaki Chicken Pizza and 4 pork is gooooddd lol
Great food. My colon quivered and my heart slowed when the smoked meat poutine arrived. No ragrets, not even one.
The poutines here are delicious. I recommend getting the poutine with bacon, pulled pork, and ribs. Large portions for a good price.
We planned a 40th Birthday Party here .. the food was amazing and there was tonnes of it. We gave a number of about 32 people attending and I'm sure there was at least enough food for 45 ... So fortunately I'll be eating the leftovers for a bit .. and the price was the best I found in the city for this kind of event! Great job guys!
One of Waterloo's hidden gems! What a dinner tonight! The food here is great. The Classic Canadian Poutine was great! The pulled pork is amazing and a must try! I loved their fries and cheese curds and there were lots of toppings on the pizza! Their cheese bread is also great with lots of cheese. The salad was nice and fresh. The service here is just as amazing as the food. Employees were quick to help solve any issue to make sure you have a good experience. They have a very nice patio to have some drinks and a good meal. Very good with take-out as well, just call ahead. I love what you guys are doing and I look forward to coming back.
Excellent food, great service and good place to crack a cold one in the barn style patio.
Decided to order for Father's Day dinner and was not disappointed! Ordered the DTK Burger for my husband, chicken club for myself with side Caesar salads and a poutine to share. The DTK burger was filling, with smokey flavors and fall apart, melt in your mouth brisket! The chicken was tender and flavourful. A hidden kick of spice in the mayo as I came across some pickeled jalapeños. The poutine... wow! If you go, try the poutine on its own or sub in your meal. The hand cut fries were a delight from the usual frozen ones. I couldn't tell if it was the gravy or the fries themselves but something had a distinct seasoning to it and it absolutely delicious! A local gem!
Way too expensive. Terrible value. Horrible coffee. It was hot brown water with reused grounds. Worst homefries we've encountered. Tasted like yesterday's French fries cut up and refried. The sausage was uninspired but edible. The eggs were the only thing that was okay. You can't screw up eggs.
My husband said this is the best teriyaki chicken pizza he’s ever had!!! We’ve enjoyed our lunch here. Thank you Jeremy and Freddy for your food and help!
The cute waitress, if I may be so bold, offered us free dessert under the condition we write a good review on TripAdvisor. Unfortunately, none of us have a TripAdvisor account. Hopefully this Google review will suffice. Now let me make one thing clear. I am not easily swayed but this food was delicious. I recommend the burger with cheese and bacon. The fries were the best part. I had to order some mustard since they only hand out ketchup but the waitress was more than happy to serve me some on a mini cup. Its people like that that make me want to be a better person. Another bonus is that its right beside a lovely antique store !
Amazing restaurant with a unique menu. I have tried a good portion of their items and they always impress, especially the poutines. I was able to recently try their feature item at the Kitchener location which was pulled pork birria tacos and they were great. The tacos had great flavour and the shells had a crunchy, cheesy exterior that you can dip in the provided consomé. Nice to see a twist on a classic dish.
Liam was very friendly yet professional. The food was delish! We were a group of 8, half the orders were burgers, the rest assorted different dishes. 2 different soups were excellent, flavorful and hearty. Pigtails were tender with BBQ sauce. Hand cut fries that were recommended as a side did not disappoint. Enjoyed the beer, crazy Canuck, and the snowshoe dessert was universally loved to the point we almost licked the plates. Enjoy. We look forward to returning.
Large, and I mean LARGE portion sizes of delicious food! A popular spot for food located near the St Jacob's Market offering a variety of pub foods. There are also usually two seasonal beers on tap. There is seating available inside and outside, with the outside having a rustic picnic table style. If you're visiting on a Tuesday or Saturday be aware that it might get busy during lunch due to the market being open.
Absalouly amazing place to go! The server Courtney was great! She has delicious recommendations! The dry ribs with a Ceasar salad side is to die for! The salad perfectly blends with the flavourful of the ribs, making a yummy party in your mouth! The taco pizza is also really good, but I recommend a fork and knife to eat it! Their doughnut is an amazing desert! Very light and fluffy, and it sits well in your stomach. Definitely a place worth visiting! I know I will be going back again! Their prices are pretty reasonable for how good the food is too.
I had their chicken teriyaki and it was fantastic, my dad had a slice too and he said it was good too, very friendly guy and I'm excited to try something else soon!!
Delicious and plenty of food, excellent service.
Top notch! it takes a lot to impress me with a burger, but they managed to do that. The Crazy Canuck Burger has an amazing taste and the crispy fried onions add a great crunchy texture to it. The Snowshoe dessert was like a Beaver Tail but with a different texture that was reminiscent of a chicken finger, which I enjoyed. I absolutely recommend this restaurant and will be bringing others to try.
I went back for the first time in a few years and happy they haven't changed! I didn't even get a poutine this time around, I had the chicken club sandwich and the cheese was so melty and delicious. I tried to pull an Oprah and only eat half the bread but I couldn't. It was too good! The decor is very Canadian too.
We are not big on the bbq stuff but this was good.had the brisket, the bride; chicken. Surely fills up the belly. May well do it again.
Words cannot describe how good this poboy was. Wow..... 10/10
The hamburger was homemade super good taste and very juicy. And lots of it. Definitely a must to go to support our own and try for yourself. Yes and their own craft beer.
A quaint and classic diner experience with a modern twist on food with burgers, ribs and fries much better than your average mom and pop place. The poutine is excellent and the flavours are very creative. There are classic rock albums and old license plates all over the walls, so you know it's good. I'd definitely go back.
Hamburgers are great. Hash-browns with breakfast are the best in town. Only recommendations I would make is real cheese rather than a cheese slice, and either Heintz or French's ketchup in bottles on the table rather than packets of no-name brand. With fries that good, we're going to need some proper ketchup.
Soggy bun, dry and tasteless meat patty, this is what you get. The best burger in Waterloo region. Just sad.
