Delicious food! Highly recommend! Visit 2: I had to remove a star since when we went for our reservation the restaurant hadn't even opened yet. Our utensils weren't stocked and the service wasn't as impressive as last time. Food was still 10/10

Wow!! Lovely family owned restaurant. Mexican food is my favourite and I have tried many places, but this was by far the best chimichanga I have ever had! The rice was also the best I’ve ever had. The food was so fresh and flavourful and the staff was so kind and attentive. If I could rate more than 5 stars I would!

Amazing food at affordable prices. The owner is friendly and patient while explaining the menu and recommending various items we would enjoy. We got take out for 10 people, food was fresh and hot even after a 10 minute drive home. Everyone was from out of town and couldn't believe how delicious the food was! I'll be back.

The only place for authentic Mexican food in Waterloo! Good food, really recommend the churros. Nachos are a bit expensive for what it is in my opinion. They had a children movie playing on the TV when we went which was a bit odd. Would recommend.

Came here today because I was curious and I have to say it was good! The food had flavour for the most part. I would give this place 5 stars but I love my food and I felt it was just missing a little salt other then that food was really good and they have good choices for the menu. As for service it was only okay, they were attentive but just didn't feel welcoming. Decor is simple but nice and place is kept clean!

Love the food here! Had a great chimichanga one time and an enchilada with the mole sauce a second time both were excellent and not too bad on the price. Owner and staff is super friendly too and the atmosphere feels very authentic Mexican, would recommend!

Stopped by for a late lunch, and we're glad we did. Food was great! The staff was friendly and helpful, making awesome suggestions about their menu. After mentioning that I like spicy foods, our waiter brought over a bowl of (extremely hot - not for beginners, definitely) hot sauce that we were dipping nachos into. Fantastic flavour, one of the better sauces I have tried, North of the Rio Grande. The tacos were spot on (love the double tortillas!) ... the enchiladas with the with the tomato sauce were deelish (according to my wife) ... and carne asada had some the best sliced grilled beef around, I'd go back just for the meat! The restaurant is clean, staff is fun and the food is tasty. Do yourself a favour, and go there for some of the best Mexican fare around.

This place is amazing. My wife loves their vegan burrito ( potato or mushroom with no dairy) and my current favorite is the carnitas. Their hot sauce is like nothing we've had before. I asked if they could sell me some and they obliged. We've been driving across town for this place every week since we found it

First time here and very good food! Obviously family owned, very hospitable. Had the Guacamole with chips and Chicken Chimichangas. Food came out fast and hot and tastey. Will definitely go back. Just an fyi. This is a seat yourself...go up to the till to pay restuarant. But doesnt lack in quality home style Mexican food.

Friendly service and great authentic Mexican food. We got a few of the taco specials and a cactus chimichanga, both choices were delicious. The meat in the tacos was very tender and the chimichanga was huge and flavourful. Very reasonably priced with a good selection of hot sauces. If you like your food spicy ask for the Mexican spicy hot sauce!

I’ll preface this by saying we’re huge fans of traditional Mexican cuisine. I was disappointed by our meals here after hearing such great things. Our food was really dried out and didn’t look fresh at all. We also ended up receiving one item which was not what we ordered. Saving grace for this meal were the churros and kids chicken quesadillas which were fresh and tasted quite good.

I really wanted this place to be good, as we don't live very far away. Unfortunately it was very very bad. We ordered 1 of each taco and every single one of them tasted like the meat / fish was under a heat lamp all day long. It was so dry we couldn't even finish them and we got horrible stomach aches and sickness later on after eating them, border-line food poisoning. I am usually a very fair reviewer but this was probably the worst take out experience I have ever had. Maybe covid has affected them in a negative way, or maybe this was just an off day, but we will not be returning and do not recommend.

Let me preface this by saying I'm no professional of Mexican cuisine. We ordered 2 enchiladas rojo, which is 3 enchiladas in a red sauce with rice and beans. The service was mostly great, the people here are very friendly and it gives the vibe of a family owned restaurant. One thing i thought was odd was that the entrees didn't come out at the same time, despite us being the only customers. The flavour profile was rather disappointing. Again, I'm not sure if this is authentic and just how it's supposed to be. But for me personally, it was boring. The roja sauce needs more acidity, more tomato (in my biased, Italian opinion). The only exciting part was the spicy house sauce they give you, that stuff really kicks. Overall, I've had better (Mesa in Hamilton) and much worse. This was just kind of average.

Absolutely delicious and authentic Mexican food. The portions were generous and the presentation was lovely. I would highly recommend ordering the pozole, but all the foods we tried were excellent. The service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant was clean and spacious. When walking in you are greeted by the staff in a very friendly manner. We will definitely go back.

Arguably the best Authentic Mexican restaurant in Kitchener-Waterloo. I regularly visit this restaurant from work and on personal visits and never get tired. Fajitas and Enchiladas are a must-try. Friendly owner and family-run. You’ll feel the Mexican hospitality and warmth.

The Cactus Mexican Restaurant is a hidden gem! It was my second time trying this place and the food was delicious! I ordered the green enchiladas. The dish comes with chips, rice and beans. The more saucy the better!! Taco de bistec came with 3 tacos. The tacos must be eaten fresh to prevent from it becoming soggy. I would go back and try more items from the menu.

Nice place to go with family or friends. Food is tasty and have good prices. I'm mexican so I think the food offered here isn't traditional Mexican food but is so good. Costumer service is the best.
