You will be able to see all the reviews of people like you who are using the services of Koh-I-Noor Indian Restaurant (Restaurant) near Waterloo (Canada).
Now this business gets a score of 4.1 stars over 5 and that score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
As you can see its rating is quite positive, and it's founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we can think that the assessment is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to rate when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to put opinions when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant is included in the category of Indian restaurant.
Delicious food at reasonable prices!
Best food and best employee. Please try Vegetarian Thali and Spicy Chicken Biryani.
Best Indian restaurant in town. Affordable prices and great service.
Under new management. We have been going to KN for 15 years, and have visited twice within the past two weeks. The food is flavorful, with quality meat. Service was excellent as well as friendly . I would recommend! Vegetarian options as well!
I tried the butter chicken and it was AMAZING! Probably the best Indian Resturant in WATERLOO!
Worst biriyani ever had. For those who ate biriyani from here for the first time, its not an actual biriyani. Its just boiled rice mixed with chunks of tasteless chicken pieces. no flavor, no seasoning, just tasteless low quality rice. and that too for a high price. There are a lot of other restaurants in KW serving way better food for lesser price. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.
Great food, awesome ambience, and the most friendly staff. Do try their chicken tikka masala, it’s the best I’ve ever had.
The food is delicious and service is great.
Besides the food was really tasty, the guy at the cash understands customer service.
I went to Koh I Noor when visiting the area, and was I amazed. The staff were very nice and the food was really good. I highly recommend going there as it is an amazing restaurant in Waterloo. I know I will come again.
Great service, very welcoming staff! Good food! Enjoyed the experience!
Humble staff and good food.
BEST INDIAN FOOD IN TOWN!! SERVICE IS GREAT! FOOD IS TASTY!! I REALLY RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERYONE.
The changes under new management seem to have made a significant difference. I got the same dishes as the last time, and they tasted much, much better, so I changed the review from 1 star to 4.
The food was extremely good The service was great, the staff was friendly, he often checked if we needed anything, was everything good Highly recommended this restaurant. We definitely come back again
The food was cold
Not that exiting place... Food is ok..
Great tasting food and good prices!
Thank you for the great food. Five stars
Cool
Had my party order from Kohinoor and the food was soo awesome that all of my quest just love it. On top of that the service was soo humble that it feels that you are there regular customer. Just love that. Thank you Kohinoor.
The biryani was gross, I ordered a chicken biryani which I had to pay more for but ended up being vegetarian, there was a small wedge of chicken in it, terrible food! I had ordered skip the dishes and was looking forward to Indian cuisine and it was complete utter trash. Save your money, DO NOT GET THE BIRYANI!
One of my favorite Indian restaurants in Ontario since 2009
Exlent and quility food in town Good service butter chicken and chicken biryani are mouth watering
It was over of the best Indian restaurant in this locality. The staff was very courteous and warm and welcoming. Loved the vegetable thali. Recommendations for all Indians in this area.
Excellent service and the most friendly staff
Ordered biriyani - Pathetic
I love everything about this place! Fantastic hosts and excellent food. I have ordered take out as well as stayed at the restaurant. I have never had a bad experience here and I recommend it all of the time.
Good food.. nice place
The food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly nice and helpful! Would definitely come back for more.
I can't believe they are allowed to do their business. Food is disgusting, my stomach feeling heavy after this, plus the customer service is horrible
Best food in region. Best taste like homemade food.
Tasty food everyone try amazing food
This team catered for our house warming ceremony for 12 people. Everyone enjoyed the food and asked where we sourced from! Priced well and delivered on time.
Perfect level of spicy
Last time, i think i just wasted my money.........
Ridiculous customer services only for indians..
Koh I Noor has excellent food and excellent service. Totally recommend going there.
Under new management. Amazing! The reviews for this place are mostly based on the previous owners. I reluctantly stopped here to eat because of my wife and I was blown away by the quality. Keep it up!
Not really indian taste
I ordered the butter chicken and lamb curry with rice and fritters it is really delicious with a very good flavor
Come let's party
Tasty, nice presentation, friendly owner (or waiter), affordable lunch menu (don't know about dinner)
Food is very delicious and price effective,,staff is very generous and caring....clean and superb food quality,,,
Buttered chicken is very sweet. It isn’t supposed to be.
Really good Indian food and not expensive either. Staff extremely helpful and have no problem to customize the order to make it spicier then what's offered on the menu.
Tasty food.Good Ambience. Spacious and neat. This is one of the best Indian restaurants in waterloo
This hidden gem is hands down one of the best (if not the best) Indian restaurants in the region, and one of our favourite restaurants in Kitchener Waterloo period. We love all the dishes, but the bhindi masala is unreal. Excellent service every time we go.
Honestly the best butter chicken I have ever had so far in my entire life I have had many from many different places this one seems to be the spot for now keep doing what you're doing
Went at lunch on a recommendation. Service was super slow. Had to leave after 45 minutes wait and took the food to go. Staff was helpful and friendly, hence the 2 stars. Would have been nice of they offered a discount or pick up the (2) drinks for the inconvenience. The food was great, but portion was smallish. It would be a 4 star if the portion was better and service was more timely.
One of the best places to have authentic Indian food
A bit extra wait time. Food was fresh for sure and tasty as well.
Worst food I have ever eaten in my life and even worst customer cervices. Main dishes have quantity similar to appetizers. And one more thing, I can cook better than these guys lol.
The lunch menu is a great value. Extremely clean, excellent service. Lots of parking.
Best Indian food I have ever had..Fresh..tasty and service was a 5 plus plus...
It was a great place with great food !!! Absolutely loved it. The person who handled our order was the most hospitable. A great guy with an amazing attitude.
The restaurant is fantastic. The service, food and cleanliness are excellent. Love to spend time with family.
Lots of empty tables so no distancing worries. Ordered lamb Madras and lamb Korma with plain naan. Not bland. Glad I resisted the temptation to try Vindaloo. A day later, the Madras mixed with rice has really mellowed to a much better meal. While we were sitting, there were 4-5 pickups. Clearly, take out is the best option.
The food is soooooooo good
My favourite Indian Restutant. I drive there for lunch from London regularly!
The best Indian food I've tried in KW and excellent takeout. It's the perfect weather for a hot masala chai as well. Delicious! Will be back.
Amazing food, very friendly.
We had a wonderful experience here. Under the new management the food is great and the service is friendly. Our child loves this place.
Great food, great service. I heard of this place because of the new management sign so I got curious and decided to change it up this time and try Indian food. I ordered what the waiter suggested and the food was fantastic. I'm not much of a spicy eater so i asked for mild and although it was still a little spicy, I think that actually added to the taste. The waiter was great help in telling me what kind of food they serve and what it's like so I would have a better understanding. Not what I expected but I'm glad I got it. All in all, the food was great and the people were nice too so I might just become a regular now
I enjoy the food a lot but the service is incredibly slow.
After management changed so did their recipes. Food does not taste the same as it use to. Very sad, because my family LOVED their chicken tikka masala, but now the flavours are just way off just bland and disappointing taste.
I’ve been coming to Koh-i-Noor since before I can remember - over the last 3 decades it has been consistently the best, my favourite Indian restaurant in town. The staff are very friendly and always remember us, and the food is very consistently delicious! I have never been disappointed and am happy to bring family and guests. My favourites are the Kormas, Lamb Vindaloo, and Okra, although everything we’ve had there has been good. Highly recommend.
Great food Great service. Nice servants who care more about you than your money. If you live near here, please visit this place and order some food and I am sure you will enjoy.
Amazing food - best in town IMO
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The food is always delicious!
Not worth what you pay for.
Best Indian food in KW!
Flavorful food :)
Definite recommendation. The daal was excellent as was the barbecue platter
Really Good Experience. Food, serving and Management is really Amazing. Highly recommend this place.
Hope it gets busier. New ownership, good portions.
Good taste, reasonable portions and prices.
Great place to eat. Been here a few times now and loved it every time. The food is a bit spicy but for the most part, it's one of the best restaurants I've been to. Usually, I don't review the places I go but recently, they've had a change in management so I thought that I might help out, what with them being so kind and all. Great food, great service, a new favorite of mine
We were pleasantly surprised to discover this restaurant in Waterloo with good ambience and very tasty cuisine from the sub-continent. Really enjoyed the food; we had their butter chicken, chicken karahi and biryani; all three were delicious. The host Rishi was very friendly and welcoming. We would certainly come back to eat again. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone wiith Eastern taste buds.
Best place to have thali. The owner is sweet guy and all the servers are super friendly and helpful. Great service
Delicious samosa and chai
Pleasant service, very good food
Great food at a very reasonable price.
Owner was very friendly and talkative. Food was delicious.
Decent food. The biryani was a little too bland for my liking, would not recommend it
Food was fine but servers are very noisy, they keep on hanging around you like bees around honey. Let me eat in peace
Ordered a tandoori chicken special which comes with rice and salad. Paid about 15 Bux, there zero to none chicken the rice was horrible. Do not go here ever unless you like to waste your money
I came here for dinner with some friends and it was amazing. We got the hakka manchurian noodles, chilli paneer, and ras malai. The food was delicious, with great portions. The naan was so soft - but my favourite was the hakka manchurian noodles, they blew me away. We loved it so much, and the owner was so nice!
I had visited the restaurant along with my family. As my first time experience, I can say that it was great. They had kind, respectful staff ready to help with whatever that was need. They were fast and efficient when it came to getting and making the food. The best part was really the food. Just great and worth it.
Went with friends recently. Friendly host but be expected to eat portions meant for a five year old.
This is the best Indian restaurant I have ever went to! They have great service and they serve the BEST FOOD EVER!!! Inside it looks very nice and it's really peaceful. I highly recommend coming here.
Super friendly staff, great service, good food, reasonable price.
Delicious food. Love the chana masala!
Good Indian and Pakistani food. Also sells king fisher.
Great food, polite and caring staff, nice atmosphere
Will mention this review is in regards to their dinner menu. Service was super slow, it took 10 minutes to get our water, and maybe about 45 to get our food. This of course meant the food was colder than Arendelle when Elsa had it completely frozen. The portion size was tiny, they do give you a huge naan to fill you up though. The two shrimps in my barbecue platter were so small, even George Costanza wouldn't have been able to explain that shrinkage (and shrimp swim all the time). The meat tasted bad and old, I really think I might have a bad day tomorrow. The lettuce in our salad was also very bitter. Oh and the atmosphere. It was so quiet in there, and so sad. If I had shot a black and white video and inserted it into Schindler's List, no one would have noticed. Go somewhere else, waterloo has plenty of options for dinner, almost all of them better than this. Although they do give you complimentary papadum, which is the only reason this deserves even that one lone star.
Best lassi and Indian thali I had after long time
Fantastic food! We had a delicious meal - the butter chicken and naan were outstanding, as were all of the dishes we tried. So glad we called them directly - great service.
Owner was very friendly and nice, food was wonderful, service just as great. Also the owner was so careful when it came to gluten allergies it was much appreciated.
Great prices and fast service for lunch
Worst Experience ever in Life....
I went to this place recently and they give you one bathura for a some channa for close to $15 including tax. It's not enough to fill even one person up. In other restaurants in and around Waterloo you will find multiple indian restaurants that offer 2-3 meals which make you full for this price range. You need to atleast give 2 bathura and not just one.
awesome curries
Today was our first visit here since new management took over and changed the menu, chef, and staff in Sept/18. My wife and I both liked it before the change, and after trying two dishes new to us today from the new menu, we both still liked it (she had Achari Chicken; I had Shrimp Vindaloo). We'll be back!
Amazing service, friendly staff. I ordered for catering from this restaurant for the first time. I was a little scared as the order was for 100+ people but thank you to Mr. Babu for preparing such an amazing meal, and for the home delivery. Everyone was amazed by your food. I had such a delicious Indian food after so long. Also thank you for helping me pick the dishes. From now on, for any type of events, when we crave Indian, we are ordering from this restaurant. Keep it up!
This place really is a hidden gem. Upon reading some mixed reviews but mostly extremely positive ones we decided to try this place out. So glad we did! The Lamb Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala were amazing with great flavour and quality spices. Very reasonably priced and the owner was lovely and so kind. We have tried several places for Indian food and based on our first experience I think this place will be one of our favourites. It’s quite possibly the best place in Waterloo!
The worst food I ever had and the service is horrible.
It’s not every day that you come across a restaurant with a truly authentic cultural cuisine. Koh-I-Noor falls nothing short of this perfection. The food was rich in traditional Indian flavours and the choice of dishes offered a diverse dining experience. The staff were very polite and friendly, and the service was timely and efficient. Easily the the most authentic Indian food I have ever tasted in my life. A must try for anyone searching for dining options in the KW area.
Great Indian food: much better than anything else I've had in Waterloo. The wait wasn't too long either. Our server Sanod was really nice. Definately would recommend!
Amazing food that worth it. Cheap price for good food. Service is just as great. Everyone should go here if they want best indian food.
Absolutely amazing!!! Amazing customer service, amazing food! If you want the best tasting authentic Indian food, look no further. These guys are the best!! My wife and I usually order the butter chicken and chicken biryani and honestly these guys never miss! There food is absolutely mouth watering!! Keep up the good work guys!!!!
Amazing food
Tasty food, friendly staff and mild food isn't too spicy. Definitely recommend coming here to eat.
Food was very good
The gentlemen at Koh-I-Noor are excellent hosts who serve fantastic food. Highly recommended.
Great food
I order a lot from this restaurant and really love the taste and quality of food. Specially veg platter and veg noodles. Must try.
Family environment with tasty food and friendly staff under new management.I prefer to visit this resturant to get real taste of indian food.
I placed an order for fish tikka and malai kofta. I have never seen such a small portion of fish tikka(6 small pieces) for $17. Are you kiddng me? $17?. And malai kofta was sweet it suppose to be spicy .never ordering again.
Good and Worthy
The food was great, our waiter, Sanod was very nice.
Reasonable Indian food. Nothing great, nothing bad. Naan is good.
Ordered from you guys tonight and I have to say the food was excellent very tasty highly recommend
Tried chicken biryani and nan bread, and were very delicious. Good quantity for the price.clean restaurant. Friendly staff and good service. Highly recommend.
Nice Indian restaurant around ????????
We had a fantastic experience with Koh-I-Noor's takeout today. The naan, Tika Masala, and Chana Masala were all fantastic! Portions are generous for the price. Will definitely be back!
Poor quality and I feel scammed for the $42 I spent on delivery...Dal Soup tasted and looked more like SQUASH SOUP with lemon in it? I ordered LAMB and received BEEF instead...they don't think we wouldn't know the difference? And the salad was received in wrapped aluminum foil only with maybe 4 pieces of broken lettuce and one slice of tomato , small wedge of lemon....for two people?? The phone service was nice as well as the delivery guy who drove through a snow storm to get to us tho...and the rice was good also...but sorry to be honest...save your money and learn to make your own Indian Cuisine...not many in this area that I trust.
I had an absolutely amazing experience last night. The food was beyond expectation, and service was very warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area or even out of Waterloo area to at least visit this restaurant once. You can spend a quality time with your loved ones here!!
Good Authentic Indian food
Very slow service, even for take out when I went on a Saturday night to pick up my food. Otherwise the staff is friendly and the food is great. Had a chicken biryani for $13; much cheaper than most Indian places charge. Order well in advance by phone, was about 40 mins after offering that I walked out the door with the meal.
Good quality food. They introduced to me as new management. I was impressed With the food and service. Recommended
Tandoori Chicken and Goat Curry was great! I wish the prices were a little bit lower.
Poor quality food and wastage of money....
Fantastic place, the best naan i have ever had and its not even close. Butter chicken is fantastic, we have never not been blown away by a meal here
Great food, service is..uhm worth improving. Inexpensive and older looking but the food alone is enough to keep going for a lunch or two
Best Indian food in KW!
Very good food & excellent customer service
I’ve always had a good experience here. The onion baji is the best in town.
Best Indian food. Nice taste
Very affordable with good service and several vegan and vegetarian options.
I loved the Chicken Tikka Masala sauce, will be back regularly for sure!
Worst service I have ever experienced. I am confident the food here poised me. Talking to my lawyer and I will take this to civil court. Please people Go ANYWHERE else.
Very bad experience. Very low quantity. Left hungry. Also I ordered dal tadka they gave dal makhni
Ordered a combo meal for 2, and the portions were so little. Barely enough for one person, let alone 2. Very disappointed. Also we called to make sure we got the right order, the person we spoke to was kind of rude.
Excellent, Food, beer and service.
We had a good experience at this restaurant. The beef kabobs were nicely seasoned and flavourful. The butter chicken and shimp curry were tasty as well. I would recommend this place and will be returning in the future.
Simply put, great service and great food. Tried the butter chicken and it was delicious.
Was in Woodstock, called them around 3:15pm if they were open, asked about available dishes, drove there found them closed called them again and they said please come back at 5pm, what a JOKE.
I went with my family last night, and it was absolutely amazing! Definitely an experience to rave about! I've never been big on Indian food, but my partner loves it. We got there and the service was amazing, within 5 minutes the chef/owner was out to talk to us and he was more than happy to talk me through the menu and make me something special to work in with my allergies. My kids and my partner loved the food. The whole experience was at least a 12/10. We were so excited over the service that we're already planning our next outdoor dinner there.
Food was tasty.
Ended up here by coincidence. ( the Cactus was closed) What a nice surprise. Friendly staff, good food and fair prices. We felt a bit lonely being the only guests. Why isn't it a bit busier here? It's worth it.
Restaurant is located in the plaza right at the Albert and Phillips intersection. Nice decor and ambience. Waiters are friendly and helpful. This restaurant was an amazing experience. I love Indian food, so we came here after shopping at Walmart. Just like the other reviewer, if we could rate this place more than 5 stars we would. The chef came to our table to understand what we enjoyed and gave suggestions based on that. The food is absolutely worth the wait and the experience is really great. We had Butter Chicken, lamb curry, Tandoori Chicken with rice, and a lot of Garlic naans. Very reasonably priced for excellent quality of food. We will definitely come back. Thank you Kohinoor
For the price you pay, the amount of food you get is barely enough to feed a small child. Ridiculously expensive combo meal for 2 was NOT worth it. These owners must be really cheap to serve 2 pieces of iceberg lettuce and 2 slices of tomatoes for a 2-person salad, and 5 small cubes of chicken tikka for 2 people. It would have been ok if the food was actually tasty. The beef entree was bland, the cauliflower curry barely tasted like anything, and the rice was dry. We were very disappointed with the customer service as well. Rude person on the other side of the phone, even though we were just checking to see if we got the right order (the serving size was so small!). Save your money and go to Empress or Raja instead.
We used to frequent this restaurant years ago, when it was run by the original owners. We loved it. After it was sold we went once or twice, it was not the same; therefore, we did not return. This must have been easily 7 years ago. Tonight, we decided we would order Indian. Our usual "go to" (delicious) was closed????. So, we decided too order from here. Unfortunately,we are terribly disappointed. Quality was poor, meat was fatty, not tender. Butter chicken was awful - was too sweet, despite asking for it to be spicy. I was surprised that the menu did not specify spice level....( mild, med, hot). I did ask.......the answer was - how would you like it.......asked for hot. The food was not hot (spicy). All dishes looked the same and tasted much the same. Almost seems as though yogurt is mixed in all sauces......? Even the Nan was not great. Perhaps we are used to more authentic Indian ? The price is too high for the quality. Unfortunately, we wI'll not be back nor recommend.
Awsome Indian food after so long!
Fake Indian Food.. not recommended !
Very nice i enjoy food
We were looking for a new Indian restaurant and we found this, KOHINOOR Indian restaurant. It was my first visit with my family here and we were so impressed by both the great food and friendly staff. The food flavours are absolutely authentic and amazing! It doesn’t make any sense why they have such a low rating. I’ve been to many Indian restaurants in Kitchener and Mississauga but not going to lie , this is the best one out of all. Definitely the best indian restaurant in KW area. The services was outstanding, we all had a great time. Thanks to the Owner for making us the custom dishes considering my allergies. It was perfect dinner. Butter Chicken was just perfect. We had Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Tikka for the first time. Never knew they taste so amazing. Garlic Naan and butter chicken is the best. It is kind of far from where we live but definitely worth it. We’re gonna start coming here often. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent Indian dishes. Lunch special is exceptional value for the money, comes with mulligatawny soup, rice and nan. The lamb samba is especially good
so Good! want some right now!
This is one of the places in waterloo where you can find decent quality vegetarian Indian food. While the food quality is better than many other places in region I feel the quantity can be more for the amount they charge. I have used it this place only for take aways and everytime they keep the food ready in the given time.
I ordered Dal takda and Kadai Paneer, both dishes were scam. Dal takda usually people expect Toor Dal not Kali dal, Kali Dal was served it was cold. I don’t understand why it was named Dal Takda all they did was microwaved. Not expected too bad
Nice people. Nice food.
Consistently good
Butter Chicken and Chicken Kornma taste the same except for the colour, even my 6 year old said so. We've had way tastier Indian with that price range. At least now we kNow that with that price range, we would rather order from Flame Meat Shop.
Good place for Indian food. Good taste and good service.
Good Indian food close to Waterloo University and Philip Street @Waterloo, ON, Canada.
Worst experience of my life . i suggest you please dnt select this for any kind of food.i gave you ---5 . Bad food .
One my favourite restaurants anywhere! Simply phenomenal food, great service, really friendly staff... my personal favourites are the Chicken Bangalore (really spicy and tasty!) and the Beef Vindaloo. Definitely worth trying out if you haven't been!
I agree with the reviewer that commented that everything tasted like onion. I would say it differently, the food tasted as if it was cooked once for the lunch buffet and is warmed up over and over throughout the week. One step up above a jar of Petax and microwave rice.
Expensive for what it is.
Great place to eat lunch. The food is very good and the service is great! Totally recommend it.
Always love their butter chicken
There was a management change and it really show everything from service to food quality is better. My favourite is the butter chicken, it creamy and sweet. I would definitely recommend this place.
Awesome service.Food is very delicious and fresh
An extremely bad experience at the restaurant. The waiter was very rude; when we asked for spoons he refused and said we use forks and knives. The food was cold and sweet. The portions of the food was really small with high prices. The food got my family sick. The food was extremely bad tasting. They sell a dish for 15 dollars but give you food that is less than half its value. 》》》Not recommended at all《《《
Fantastic service. The food was fresh and the serving size was great. The price range is affordable. Though located relatively far from me the drive is definitely worth the wonderful Indian cuisine.
best Indian food in the tri cities by far! And such awesome service!
Happy to have found one of the better places in KW. Up there with Flame.
Delicious food quit and peaceful place to enjoy desi food.
Great tasting food. Awesome service
I just needed naan one day and was craving chai as well (a couple of days ago) thus I tried kohinoor. The chai was amazing, freshly brewed and amazingly packed for the delivery. The naans were also good. I can see myself trying more of their menu items.
The Non Veg thali was a good dish to try. It was my first time to try Kohinoor. It had a rice, a raita, a Dal Makhni, a chicken curry, a goat curry and a golab jamun (dessert). Plus Naan too. The food was quite spicy. They do have options for medium/high spicy, so you can choose medium if you are not fond of Spicy foods. I found the Goat curry was the best among all the dishes. Currently they are only offering Take out.
A group of four of us visited here for a get together few days ago and was not disappointed. The setting is well laid out and seems to flow well, the staff were very lovely and attentive and were happy to help with suggestions. The smells …
I just can't express how bad the service and food was.. Starting with the waiter who was so rude and he first throw the menu at us and said he will be back in 2 minutes , we ignored it and placed an order for tandoori chicken wings and requested if it can be hot and the waiter reply was "No" and the chicken was stinking I just took one bite and left it. Chicken biryani was awful .. Rice was cold .. Left the wings untouched had small portion of rice and left... At the end waiter started justifying that they have fresh chicken in the freezer since a month lol... Please do not go that's nothing like Indian food.. They are just ruining tasty Indian food standards .
Tasty food, friendly staff, and reasonable prices.
Ordered Channa Bhatura , it was delicious ???? and sweet lassi . Good place to eat Indian food . Prices need to be revised . All over its good place to dine in .
Decent restaurant! Delicious food and friendly staff.
Ordered a biryani with garlic naan and raita. When I had the first bite of garlic naan it felt like home. Biryani and raita was delicious too. Best place in town.
Delicious food and great service with friendly atmosphere.....
Good food. Lunch specials are a good price off menu is a little expensive.
They are serving Packed Paranthas from wallmart and Literally water in the name of tea.
Simply wonderful food and service. A must go.
Please use regular metal spoons! Not the ceramic spoons!! Otherwise the food is good.
Delicious! Great little spot
Meal type
Really good food and service.
By far the best Indian restaurent in Kitchener-Waterloo! If you love Indian food, you can find the best ones in this restaurent.
Always tried pick up. Very timely service and good Indian food.
I work close by and always go there for lunch. For less than 10$ you can have hearty curry with a generous size of delicious naan. The naan is always so good that I wish I can just buy a batch of them to snack on at home.
Great food, highly recommend it!
A little slow but a very tasty and sweet butter chicken.
I had a great experience with Koi noor restaurant. I went with my friends, we didn't expect to have that level food, It was amazing and they had Delicious food. The servous is fast and we're really happy about the service.
The best curry in KW
We are longtime customers of Koh-I-noor and have always enjoyed the great service and delicious cuisine.
An extremely bad experience at the restaurant. The waiter was very rude; when we asked for spoons he refused and said we use forks and knives. The kabab platters were 4 pieces of chicken tikka cut into 8 halves. The portions were ridiculously small compare to the prices. Our family has dined in so many retaurants all across Canada; never came across one like this. I don't know where and how the restaurant has the rating it has. 》》》Not recommended at all《《《
I ordered butter chicken with naan because it was recommended to me by my friends. The price was reasonable and the food was amazing! I definitely recommend ordering food from the restaurant if you are able to.
There is new management as of early 2019 approximately. Still very good flavoured curries and the price is a bit cheaper than other sit down restaurants Highly recommended
We ordered three different dishes with rice and naan bread for takeaway dinner and it was delicious.
The food was really awesome and reminded me of the best Indian restaurants I have been to! The lamb beriani was one of the most delicious dishes I had in the KW area. The interior wasn't really nice but the food still deserves 4 stars.
Fantastic food. I really like the way they're doing the lunch now with the mulligatawny.
We enjoyed a delicious and flavorful lunch today. The staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. The portions were generous. The atmosphere is pleasant, however the decor is a little dated. We thoroughly enjoyed Onion Bhaji, Peshwari naan, Chicken Korma and Chicken vegetable curry. We will definitely return.
Having dinner at Koh-I-Noor restaurant turned out to be an amazing experience. We were greeted by their ever friendly staff as we came inside. The food tasted amazing. It was served hot and the taste reminded us of our days in India. The setting of the restaurant is fairly simple, but the smiling faces of the staff and the wonders of their chef makes it worth your time and money. Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for affordable good Indian food. Happy Dining!
Under the new management they are very good. The food was very good and this is the best we had in waterloo area. We will surely be visiting kohinoor again. Forgot to mention that the server was friendly and ensured that our requests were met.
Excellent food service. Food was very delicious. I love it????????????.
We ordered 2 bowl of butter chicken with other stuff but the butter chicken was too salty(nearly impossible to eat) and we immediately went back to tell them about the bad food. instead of hearing us they started arguing and it went that far that we had to call police. bad bad bad bad bad don't go there if you love your stomach. P.S. right now our case in civil court and we will fight
Bit pricey but delicious Indian food
Authentic and delicious! This has been our go to Indian restaurant for years. Don't be fooled by the unassuming plaza location...the food is top notch. They recognize my husband and I as regulars. Great service!
Great food and service.
I ordered take out but I realized when I got home that there was an important item missing. I phoned in to complain and was kind of ticked off but they actually brought the items over to me straight away and even brought a few extra items. I was extremely impressed. People aren't perfect but it's really nice to see businesses like these go out of their way when things go wrong. The meal was extremely good and I will be ordering again in the future!
Bad costumer service..
Good ambience and friendly staff. The food was tasty too. Felt a little costly on the prices
Delicious food and great service.
Ordered Daal Makhni with naan and it was delicious. The uncle at the cashier gave me an extra naan for free and was extremely kind and thoughtful. I’ve continuously been going to this place for their daal makhni since it’s worth it!
Found the food very salty and not enjoyable
Good butter-chicken and naan.
It doesn't deserve even one. I am here for the first time and i ordered one chef spl mixed biryani and one vegetable biryani. Those are not really biryanis, they jst mixed rice with curry. One of the worst food in my life.
I have been there twice for lunch as it is very close to my workplace. The first time I went there, ordered Chicken tikka masala and they served me almost raw chicken with gravy. I really wanted to give them another chance, so, went there second time. The restaurant was sort of busy and there were 3 old guys serving. None of them had sense of customer service. That time, chicken was "almost" cooked. Poor food quality and customer service. Having all those office working people nearby, I really wonder, how well the restaurants would do if only the service and food was better. Visited June 2016
Best Indian cuisine in K-W area. Wonderful setting, attentive and excellent service.
There was no option to give ‘0 star’ so i had to go with 1 star! Worst customer service! If you tell them their food is not good *too sour in my case* they will come and tell you that this is the way we cook and if you dont like it, its your fault. They dont know how to respect the customer, and literally asked us to get out of the restaurant once we told them that their food is too sour.
Ordered from the Just Eat App at 7.10pm, called at 8.10pm when I hadn't heard any confirmation and was told it was just out on delivery. Finally arrived at 9pm (seriously?). Small portions for the price and food is cold. So very unimpressed.
One of the best Indian restaurants in Waterloo or even in Ontario!!!! Incredibly talented chef, friendly service, and amazing food! The butter chicken with Naan is the best and my fav. Very clean and perfect for a nice and simple sit down lunch or dinner. Speedy and very short wait time. My whole family loved it. Highly recommend. Great service
Without question the best Indian food in the region. Bar none. My son and I are lovers of East Indian food and after tonight we both agreed that this restaurant is the best kept secret in the region. I know when RIM was in business you could hardly ever get a table. The menu is extensive. The food is awesome. Service is great (thank you “Das”) and the prices are below others in the area. Safety protocols in place. We have been going for years and my son said we should do a review. So this is it. Well worth the drive from Wellesley. Be assured that you will not be disappointed. My favorite Indian Restaurant! The service is great and the food is amazing. I am a regular and they know what I want always. They are always nice and able to accommodate to your preference, if you like it spicy or not spicy at all. Totally recommend it!
We visited this restaurant on our way to Waterloo farm Market. The food was really awesome. The restaurant was neatly maintained and perfect place for the family. We wish to visit again when we come to Waterloo.
Great staff, great food. Had their butter chicken and garlic naan. Great stuff overall. Worth a trip for students.
Service
Polite customer care and peaceful atmosphere.
Chicken biryani❤️
Owner are really well mannered. Good food.
Wonderful food! Lovely flavors, relaxing atmosphere and fantastic service.
I loved the service and the veg briyani! Definitely gonna come back
I have gone a couple times now..its close to my work...the food is amazing along with the service....will be a regular now❤
Amazing food and quality of service. Great for dinning or for takeout
We've been ordering from here for years. Fabulous food and friendly staff. We love it.
Best food and best service ever.
Must visit place. Good food quality n good customer service.
Delicious food with great service and best options for family. My family visited three times after new management.
good food
I am a foodie and have been touring Indian restaurants within Waterloo region for a while, So far one of the Best Indian restaurant I have tried.Chicken Biryani was well cooked with authentic taste and ingredients full. The spice level was not that spicy as asked to cook but can't complain. Naan was soft and taste with butter chicken. The ambient to dine-in is also seem good. I would highly recommend this place to try out.
Nice and delicious food ????????????????????????
Always a stop for me when I come to Waterloo.
Med spice, means taste here. Order 3 veggie dishes. Only complaint is too many onion pieces with the bhindi masala. Otherwise very tasty and plentiful. At first I did feel that $13 to $14 for veggie dishes is pricey, but it is put inside a 500g clear (yogurt-sized) container, and the naans (1 complimentary given with each dish) are the lovely elongated 'teardrop' style ones which is rare to find in restaurants as its usually the round/oval flatbread style
This is the best Indian food I have ever eaten. Service was amazing and food was just as good. Took a bit of time, but it was TOTALLY worth it. It's everything a restaurant needs but better. I HIGHLY recommend you going there, you will most likely enjoy it.
The food is OK but do not order delivery from this restaurant. They will mess up your order, promise to fix it next time, and mess it up again. The service in the restaurant is not very professional either. Not going back.
We heard they got new ownership, so we weren't sure what to expect, but we were very pleased. We each got a few curries, naans, and rice. And we tried the dumplings, which I'd never seen before at an Indian place, but liked. Service was good and friendly. Will definitely go back. Butter chicken was especially nice.
Ordered Chicken Tikka masala with mango lassi. Best Indian meal I have ever had. Will come back.
Without a doubt this restaurant is the best Indian restaurant in Waterloo. The food was amazing and so was the service. I am definitely coming to Koh-I-Noor again and I recommend others to come, too.
Biryani is the best in Waterloo. We have been this restaurant since 2019. Good try it then you will love it.
Nothing good pathetic food with no taste
Good place can go for lunch. It’s like a family restaurant for foods and services.
Good experience with tasty foods and the service was awesome, homely environment...thank you...see you soon...????????????
Quite authentic cuisine and great service ???? Seriously, one should try this restaurant out ????
Food is always good here.
Real Indian taste in Punjabi dishes. Much better then big brands of restaurants in Toronto
Good chow
I have been going here for years. The food is always amazing and the staff is prompt and friendly
We ordered a veg thali. Quality and taste was best I ever had.
Amazing food, server was great and the chef was so accommodating for allergies. This is an awesome place for authentic Indian food
way to expensive...
We have been coming here for 10+ years and always an amazing experience. The meat and vegetable quality is fresh. The food is always steaming when it comes out. And they have the BEST beer on tap. They do not disappoint
Worst restaurant ever...food is as tasteless as municipality water...expensive as dolce and gabbana..so this restaurant serves garlic nan with 0.1% of garlic aroma...you have to search paneer like playing tresure hunt in motor ponir..and dal tadka confuses u whether you are ill patient or a guest.
Simple but great staff. Naan breads were cooked well.
I ordered the Kadhai paneer with garlic nan and personally I don’t like vegetarian food, but the quality of the food and the flavours just shocked me 10/10 best Indian food I’ve ever had.
Not recommended
Worst experience of my life. First of all, owner was rude. We went there for take out and he did not answer to our queries in a proper manner. We ordered matar paneer and were totally shocked to see the quality of food. there were 2 small pieces of rubber like paneer and only matar. We later decide to throw away food. I recommend to not to eat in this restaurant. I want to give negative 5 as review.
I have a bad experience here and specially their staff don’t know how to deal with customers and the service is also very Poor.
Went for dinner, pleastenly surprised with quality of food. Waiter was helpful and service was acceptable. Had a time limit to eat due to an appointment and accomodation was made. Only complaint would be that the food was not that spicy, but I did order a non spicy dish.
Best vegetarian food ever had in Canada! Came all the way from Brampton, Thank You so much Sanodh ji for your Amazing service. Will surely visit again.
Delicious food
Not good experience at all. The food was not tasty at all. Not recommended to people who know the actual Indian food taste. Apparently the waiter is the restaurant owner, treats people on the basis of your ethnicity . There are some really good restaurants out there. NOT RECOMMENDED
We ordered Biriyani hoping to have tasy dinner after an exhausting day. But biryani was much more like fried rice or pulao mixed with vegetables. Quality and quantity both was unexpected. Not a good experience.
Ordered a simple chana batura..30% of the chana masala was oil and was served with just one batura. They did not want to do anything about it when I called and informed.
I ordered butter chicken last night. It was delicious. The pickup service is great in these times too.
Good price for what you get but there isn't much else for me there. Never going to be a staple but they have a dedicated client base they have earned
Excellent food and great service
Amazing
This place is awesome. I live close so I walk over for take-out often. I like to try something new each …
Great specialty curries, never crowded, arrive before 8 for more complex dishes.
Great option for the indian cuisine if you are a North Indian!
Went with my family and had an amazing experience. Fabulous food and awesome services. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was too oily and clearly unhealthy even for one time. Also, there was predominant onion flavor in the curry that somehow suppressed all the other tastes. This was way below par when compared to other Indian restaurants in Kitchener Waterloo region and GTA region. The staff had an air of arrogance and was hesitant to listen to allergy issues of my spouse. The waiter at our table was quite inconsiderate of the allergy issues and we are not even sure if he passed the requests to the kitchen. Atmosphere was the only good part, with decent ambience and music, but the low quality of service and food far outdid any worth the ambience could have added to the overall experience.
The food was well spiced and high quality. Definitely better food than the location might suggest.
Need to enhance taste in vegetarian dishes
Great service! Amazing taste and good portions. Loved the daal makhni today.
Small quiet place with great food and good service. They have a great selection of lunch specials. The place 8s always clean and welcoming.
Under the new management it was a great food and service, must visit and enjoy Indian food????
Horrible food
Went there for the first time today with my friend and had the best butter chicken, I can't wait to go back and try there other dishes, the owner is super nice and friendly, I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Ordered the veg and fish pakora, a non-veg thali, a veg thali, mango lassi, and gulab jamun. Everything tasted delicious and the portions of the thali were a great size. The customer service was fantastic and I got to have a great chat about India with the person that was taking care of us. Tasty food and excellent service will be the reasons I go back here soon!
We had our first visit to this restaurant yesterday, and it was definitely the best Indian restaurant we have been to. The staff were amazing and the food was outstanding! The service was 1st class and we are definitely coming back with family and friends. Thank you for a wonderful night!
My boyfriend and I order here through pick up or Uber Eats frequently and are never disappointed! I am a baby when it comes to spice, but I find this lamb curry soo flavorful while not burning my mouth :) we just went to pick up an order and had a nice chat with the staff there! We were sad to see it wasnt busy. If you're thinking of trying Koh-I-Noor out - do it! You wont be disappointed
Good food and atmosphere. The portion sizes are small though.
Good food for the right price. Simple recommendation:Need to make the service and order delivery faster though.
Delicious food! Vegetarian options are outstanding.
I had a pick up order, food was amazing.Mouth watering Butter Chicken and Chicken Curry with crispy Garlic butter naan. Best food in town.Highly recommended. Won't be disappointed.
Nice place. The dishes were nicely flavoured and hot. The portions were reasonably sized. The buyer chicken was excellent. Excellent service. Would certainly come here again.
best indian food i've ever had, hands down. the service can be a bit pushy, though ultimately well intending. i just wish they delivered
I drove 6 kms to experience the food here. And it's closed. Disappointed.
Unfortunately the original owner/partner retired a few years ago and the good food also did. The naan is not as flavourful as it once was, and some dishes are super spicy to hide a lack of flavour etc. I wish they would go back to the original receipes that made this place so great in the past.
The staff is extremely polite and sweet, I absolutely love dinning at Kohinoor. My favourite is chicken biryani.
Perhaps the Best Indian but facility could use an upgrade
I can’t tell about other dishes but I tried their korma and it was a basic roti sauce instead with no cashews present. If you like korma head to a different place such as the one in uptown for example.
Terrible. !! Bland, cold and the worst in Waterloo.
Worst Indian food ever. Worst service. I would have given -5 star if possible
Great local Indian food. They are so kind and the food is fantastic.
Good food but smaller portions compared to other Indian restaurants in this area.
This restaurant offers one of the best Indian food around. All the dishes are spiced accordingly to give lots of flavour and not to burn the mouth with crazy heat. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff complement the food.
Friendly management Food quality and quatity was good Decent price Calm and neat place Good for family and kids
We are visited in Kitchener on the way we saw kohinoor restaurant We are so hungry we could eat a horse. They welcomed us and asked us what we want to eat. They made out food ASAP and made it take Iike heaven. Very testy food. Very friendly customer service. Reccomed this place!!
Amazing food and service. Came here after from Waterloo University. I was about to go to somewhere, but came here, and was glad I did. The food was DELICIOUS and the service was just as good. Definitely recommend coming here.
I love the flavors to be found in East Indian cuisine and over the last three decades since my initial introduction, have had the opportunity to eat at many establishments, coast to coast, on different continents, and in several countries. My first experience with Koh-I-Noor was more than 20 years ago, and at that time I found it to be excellent. Comparing it now, across a larger span of time and experiences, I've come to realize that it is exceptional. The food is flavorful, with a depth and complexity that goes so far beyond most of the other restaurants and eateries that I've experienced. Where some restaurants combine traditional ingredients and then heat and serve, by contrast the vegetable dishes at Koh-I-Noor are caramelized and mellowed with time and care. The meats are stewed and tender, and in all cases the ingredients are fresh and of high quality. We do not eat /order here exclusively, but do so when we want a gastronomical treat. My only constructive criticism is that the amount of meat in their meat dishes can vary from server to server. We've only been decidedly disappointed on one occasion regarding this. Yet greater care should be exercised by servers to ensure greater consistency, or to err on the side of generosity rather than frugality in order to maintain the faith of its loyal patrons.
This place is a gem for the people who look for authentic Indian food in the KWC region. I have tried a lot of dishes at the restaurant and is always a super experience with the best quality of food and taste. Must try.
Food was nondescript, Samosas were cold and bland. Even dishes purporting to be spicy lacked heat. Service was painfully slow. Overall a rather disappointing meal.
Excellent
Took my lab team out for dinner here, everyone enjoyed the food and had a great time! Haven't had such delicious and spicy vindalo in a long time! The staff however, could work on better on their customer service skills. When we asked for parathas, the server insisted that we get chapatis instead, and was very rude in the way the server insisted it. Usually the servers say 'let me check if I can get that for you' instead it was very rude and persistent 'no'. They did give us our paratha in the end, but the approach to it could have use some improvement
First time had the catering from them. Really nice and humble people. Would really recommend this restaurant.
BAD!!!!! AWFUL FOOD, BAD customer service, NO respect They don't even know how to talk to their customer. I ordered food after reading these reviews, and now I think all these good reviews are fake. Please for you life don't go there. I asked for refund but they clearly refused and started abusing me.
Lunch
Amazing food at a great price. 100% worth trying.
Food was ok and service was really really dliw
New owners, taste like garbage.
Our first visit there and we were totally blown away with the flavor, quantity and pricing of the food. Staff was very attentive with service and our questions. Definitely will be returning
My family have been returning here for a consistently great Indian experience for over 10 years. What can I say: the service here is always top notch. I'm always warmly greeted when picking up take-out, and sometimes if they feel I've waited too long they'll throw in a free dessert. High standards of service and cleanliness; these guys have it down to an art. We've never been disappointed with the food, and often I think of Koh-i-noor as the standard I rate other Indian restaurants against. Thank you!
Ignore the bad reviews, this place has great food and the price is more than fair.
The food was not good..but the customer service was hell..will not recommend to anyone...
These guys are pathetic I would rate -1. This restaurant should be reported to Canadian Food Inspection Agency. If you are planning to takeout food from this place please check the samples from everything don't get scammed because they don't refund but disrespect you.
Beautiful authentic Nepali momo experience in Waterloo????????????????The momo hot chutney is super super spicy and better than the one you get in DELHI and I AM NOT KIDDING. Love the garlic naan too super soft! ????
Super delicious food and very friendly customer service. Had an amazing time. Surely will go back.
Been coming here for years, one of my favorite spots in town.
First time to try Indian food. Overall is great, and the staff here are very friendly
Great food. N more importantly we met an amazing person Mr. Das. Great customer service.????????
The food is very yummy with reasonable price! Specially Indian food, tandoori chicken, chicken curry and NAAN super testy. Great hospitality. I recommend everyone to try it if you are around! I am going with my family in long weekend.
The Mulligatawny soup is delicious, the Thali platters are an excellent taste and value, and the mango lassi are so lovely and sweet. The spiced tea is also not to be missed!
Such amazing food and the owners are very friendly too.
Was surprised how good this, and then checked out the reviews. Was shocked to see the score so low. Someone mentioned below that it is new management, and that makes sense, because it was amazing.
Absolutely amazing vegetarian food. Owner served me food and was super-friendly. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Absolutely fantastic! Truly authentic food. Amazing service.
Simply the best. They make the best Dhansak as long as you like it spicy. The butter Chicken is really fantastico. Great beers on tap too. The atmosphere is a little out dated but food's great and the service is top notch.
Came here for the chicken Tikka masala and naan, loved it. I might just become a regular here if the other items on the menu are just as good
Excellent food for great price
great food!!
Take out
