Here you will see all the information of people who are consuming the services of Bhima's Warung (Restaurant) in Waterloo (Canada).
Right now the firm gets a rating of 4.5 over 5 and that score was based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is basically the best one, and it is based on a high number of feddbacks, so we may conclude that the valuation is very faithful. If people have bothered to give their feddback when they've done well with the service, it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to write opinions when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...

Don't stand on the tables. Or ask to move them. Once you get a handle on the basic rules (most are printed on the menu for handy reference) you may begin to enjoy a really unique dining experience. BW is great because it embraces its eccelectic-ness. Everything's good on the menu.
Came here for dinner one night on a business trip in the winter. The place was empty, but my party was treated very well. The menu was pretty interesting with some off-the-wall choices and experiences, although very pricey. We all tried a local craft beer, which turned out to all be excellent. All of the food was spectacular and the portions for the dinners were massive. I could not possibly have tried the dessert afterwards. Really a tremendous and interesting meal. The only downside I saw, besides the high price, was the table size. Our table could not comfortably fit our plates, and caused us to have to do some rearranging. We saw another party change tables at one point, and I'm curious if that was to move to a larger table. However, this downside was not enough to jump down from a 5-star experience.
amazing food, service was excellent. such a treat to dine and not feel rushed. The food was tasty, hot and fresh. Loved it! Would go again in a heartbeat!
Impressive novel dining experience. As an Asian, I usually avoid "fusion" or "upscale" Asian food it tends to be a miss, but this place gets it right, putting imagination into the food (especially the ever-changing special features!) while keeping the Asian root, and most importantly, it tastes awesome. Keep in mind the price is on the higher end.
I went here a few times. I like the drinks. The food is good but a bit salty a couple times, probably just a pinch too much. Overall, the food and drinks here are good.
We went here last night for dinner and it is a dont judge a book by it's cover kind of place. The atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming and the food is to die for!!!! Excellent service and the most flavorful food we have ever eaten!! I will be returning and soon!!!
Excellent food, ambiance. Took a star off because payment was cash or debit. They should disclose that they do not take credit cards.
My favourite restaurant in KW. Go on a weeknight, sit at the bar, watch the chefs cook, share the appetizer platter or steak with snake beans and drink the special or beer flight. The best. :)
I have never written a google reveiw but i just couldn't let this go. From the moment we walked in the door it was a terrible experience. Made a reservation 3 days in advance for 7:30pm for a birthday celebration (5 people) table wasn't ready which wasn't the issue it was the way it was handled we felt very unwelcome and like we were an inconveince. Service took forever while there were quite a few empty tables. Server was rude when we asked if we could please place an order for drinks 30 minutes into being seated at the wrong table. Finally get seated at the proper table of 5 and we were there until 10:30pm the last table to leave and after 3 of us asked to pack food up it was never brought back to our table. We just wanted to get out of there. When you are spending close to $500 for dinner you really dont expect to leave feeling like that. After hearing some really good things about this place they need to learn consistency is key. Would not recommend to anyone.
The food is good don't get me wrong I find that the issue is things vary from the menu and it's never really the same as what's stated on the menu. Last night I got the bread pudding dessert and we absolutely recall last year it was covered in something like white ice cream but this time it was regular chocolate ice cream and as of March 13 2019 if you check the website this item is 11$ however they charged me 12$. Take note this review was a 5* there's just a feeling of getting ripped off that nobody wants. Not that I argued over 1$ but at the same time they brushed it off saying someone will look over the website.
Great flavours, fancy prices not accessible for everyone/every occasion
Good and authentic food but a bit expensive for what it is. We also waited a long time for our food to come. Very unique ambience/decor.
In my opinion, best restaurant in town. Best food, amazing service. Wow.
As someone with nut allergies they refused to serve me anything. One would expect a restaurant that charges so much to customers would be able to figure something out. My only option was to drink water that was not filled nearly often enough and watch my friends eat
Couldn't be better, it was just a perfect meal. Friendly service. Wish I can try all the menu of the restaurant.
Always top notch here. The staff is amazing. First time taking my daughter here and she was treated first class. Capped the night off with some noise and mess for the house. Thank you for everything guys. It was a superb evening.
Everything was delicious! Sea scallops dumplings with a mango spicy sauce was the best part! They said things are spicy but it wasn't spicy at all, next time I'll ask for more spice on the seafood curry I ate. We tried the spicy strawberry cocktail which was so interesting! Will try it again!
I’d love to give an honest review based on their food, but this one is based on service. They have gone beyond and above what’s expected from a temporary mandate, and I cannot even go on a patio to try their food. This is coming from a business who also criticizes others for breaking rules, but they turn around and break the law themselves. Pro tip: You can’t make your own mandates…just stick to what they tell you.
Really good food. Bolder flavours. Bread pudding dessert was terrific.
We chose Bhima's for our 33rd anniversary. As always the food is exceptionally good and flavourful, as was the service. You won't be disappointed.
Hands down the best restaurant in KW, possibly in all of the GTA (as long as you like seafood). A must for visiting guests and special occasions. The food has never been short of spectacular. The regular menu has some classics, but the specials never fail.
It looks like a run down shack outside. It's baffling such a good place is near all the other university eateries. It's pricy so go here for a special occasion. Their takeout is in tin foil wrapped into a cute swan. Great thing to try is the appetizer sampler (it's enough for two people without the entree).
Very tasty. Great service. A bit more fusion-y than I like, but it was a great meal by which to celebrate an anniversary.
Four if us each had a different meal. Each was beautifully presented and very tasty. Waitresses were knowledgeable and friendly. Had never been there before and, frankly, I was loathe to go in because the outside is so poorly kept, street person was obviously sleeping in the stairwell, etc. It was a surprise when we entered to a totally different atmosphere. The food was delicious....4/5
My girlfriend took me for my birthday. The food was amazing.. great blend of flavors. It is pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
Just awesome. Don't be deceived by its look from the outside; you'll be surprised! It's really classy and nice inside, their asian-fusion food is truly special and delicious. Servers are really friendly! Definitely a nice place to bring your date to.
Excellent food and staff was very nice. A bit slow but the food is prepared fresh so very worth the wait!
Absolutel one of the most amazing meals I've ever eaten..and couldnt even finish half.. so much food!! Server was excellent..not long waiting at all!! And when he heard it was my friends bday..complimentary dessert to boot!! Will defo go again..Kudos!!!!
Had a lovely time with my best friend at dinner. She treated me to a wonderful meal on my birthday. I feel blessed.
Delicious, unique food that's full of flavor. A very bohemian and cozy environment. Wonderful restaurant!
Dinner
Great dinning experience! I had the laksa bhima and it was fantastic. They were very helpful in accomodating my dietary restrictions too. I will definitely go back!
From the outside it doesn't looks like a place that you wanna dine in it. But when you got in you feel that cozy authentic asian atmosphere. Food is great and the prices are fair. Very very recommended, especially for romantic dinner to impress someone. 5 strong stars.
My friend finally got our chance to go and man were we not disappointed! I got the ribs and the sweet potato fries and my friend got one of the noodle dishes. She loved hers but Id say my choice was the winner. The ribs came with these lovely tangy quick pickle jalapeños & onions, which made the ribs even better! The ribs were fall of the bone tender. The sweet potato fries were drool worthy! Just wish they came with a little more sauce. The fries were great to share for sure!.
Amazing! Never disappoints and always new and creative options to try. The staff are so welcoming, the ambiance is inviting. Truly a wonderful experience every time!
It is one of the higher priced restaurants in Kitchener/Waterloo - but the service is absolutely great and the food is as fresh as it could be, prepared ever so tasty and presented beautifully. - Worth every penny!
Handedly the best restaurant in Waterloo region, and definitely one of the top places in the province. The food here is utterly outstanding and a surprising treat for anyone who hasn't had Indonesian or Balinese food. The cocktails are unique, fresh and potent. It's very unassuming from the outside, but the interior is cozy and warm. The kitchen is open and visible to the dining floor so it offers a great connection between food and atmosphere. Be sure to call ahead because it's a relatively small restaurant and fills up fast for dinner. Also be prepared for the price. This is an expensive dining experience, so it's best to come on a special occasion, unless you've got the money to spend. Top notch, 5 stars all the way.
This is by far my favorite local restaurant. Always amazing food and service, a true local gem
You people must be out of your mind for giving this restaurant even 2 stars. Obviously they try to cater to the Western tastes as the food isn't authentic and very overpriced. I feel a sense of cultural appropriation from them. They are a disgrace, speaking as a Southeast Asian myself.
Amazing place! Delicious food, great service, and so tasty food!
Amazing food, fantastic service. Expect to eat food and taste flavours you don't readily recognize but will instanly love. Worth every penny. Highly recommended.
This place was so great to us and it helped me a ton for setting up a surprise. The staff was amazing and the food was wonderful and the drinks were amazing. The restaurant has a unique vibe. I highly recommend this place to anyone!!
I'm rating this as a 2 only because they seriously need to clean their rafters and fans. There was inches of dust on them that easily drops into people's food etc. I'm really hoping they address this. If they tidy this issue up, I'll change my review to a 5. Otherwise it was a lovely experience. The wait staff was very friendly, a little slow with drinks but that was ok we weren't in a rush. The food was amazing and creative. We will definitely return.
We went here because of the rave reviews, and also to try something different. The place itself is dark but clean. Parking is limited. We went there on a Saturday evening, without reservations, but were still seated within a few minutes. The servers were very attentive and helpful, but the service was slow. We spent close to three hours there, and the place wasn't super busy. Note that a lot of the dishes skew towards having at a seafood component, so if you aren't a big fan of seafood, your options are limited. We had the dumplings (containing chicken and scallops) as an app, and the scallops were the predominant taste. That was fine by me, but ended up being too "fishy" for my wife. Dor our mains, I had their version of pad thai, with an added skewer of beef satay. This was like any pad thai o have ever had. The server said it was spicy, but I found it bland and the noodles were mushy. The beef satay was similarly bland, and charred on outside and rare on inside. My wife had a different noodle dish (Goa thai I think), and chicken satay. The noodles were very tasty, and I enjoyed the chicken satay, but my wife did not, due to the combination of spices used. Overall, it was an interesting experience, and very different than the usual restaurant fare. Personally, it was not our cup of tea, and we likely wouldn't go there again. It is just not a type of cuisine that we are used too, and so we do not have an appreciation for it.
Food is absolutely outstanding! Portions are more then generous and it's worth every penny. Recommended without reservation
The food is delicious and very interesting Asian fusion. Service is always very good and friendly. We were there with the kids, who took turns spilling drinks (by accident of course, just being kids) but staff was awesome about it. I am sure this is not a common scene there as it seems more like a place for a date than a family restaurant. But they did great and I was happy to see the kids trying new flavours and asking when we could be back. ????
Amazing restaurant with huge portions. If you come here you know already the type of food you're getting into. The ambiance is great and the staff know exactly how to treat you. Fantastic wine selection with bottles ranging from $40 to $200+. The fusion between traditional plates with that Southeast Asian flare make this a must visit.
You drive past it all the time and the outside looks rough. It's like stepping into another world once you're through the door. Great staff, music, and most importantly the food. Best place I've eaten at to date.
A completely unique experience with a menu that matches. I had the red deer and brisket meal and it was phenomenal. Your food will take a bit of time to prepare, but it's well worth the wait!
I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant. The service was so slow it took over 1 hour and 45 minutes for any food to show up. I was advised to try the lamb special, and when it finally arrived the portion of the lamb was laughable and it was luke warm. For the price of the entree I was beyond annoyed. It was supposed to be a special evening and it was a disaster. I had recommended this restaurant to our group and I am now embarrassed to have done so. Do not spend your money here... go anywhere else. I will never go back and I certainly will never recommend it to anyone ever again.
Dinner
Had a great meal at Bhima's Warung. After some delicious and unique cocktails, we enjoyed appetizers from the vegetarian menu: pakora and a green mango salad. Both were excellent.
2 out of 3 dishes we ordered were underwhelming and bland. The casserole that came with the cornish hen was not cohesive with the rest of the dish, and the appetizer potato salad just didn't have much flavour. I am not one to pile sauce on my food, but both dishes would have benefited from at least a little more sauce. Mango margherita was fantastic and duck in the goreng was nicely cooked. wanted to love this place but was unfortunately disappointed for the price paid.
The waiter had a hard time remembering all the specials, probably because the list was longer than the Quran. Didn't stop him from slowly reciting most of them as I tried to sit still. If you want great orators, this is not the place for you. But if you want delicious food, this is the place to be.
Truly incredible food in a somewhat unexpected location in what seemed to be a strip mall in Waterloo. I haven't had other Indonesian to compare with, but this seemed to be more of a new wave or fusion menu which mixed traditional dishes including the red deer curry I tried. The plates are huge, to the point that they don't really fit on the smaller tables. The craft beer selection was excellent and the dunkelweizen I had paired excellently with the venison. The meat was all very well seasoned and tender. The naan was also excellent, though I didn't really need it with the huge dish. I was fully stuffed, but had to try the dessert based on how good the food was, and was not dissapointed with the fried bananas. I was surprised how empty it was given how delicious the food was, but the high prices may have kept locals away.
Amazing Thai food!!! We are vegetarian and chef made sure we enjoy the feast. We relied on Chef to make us a family meal and we were amazed!
Delicious creative food. My husband and I go for special occasion date nights (Anniversary, etc). We are vegetarian and they have a vegetarian menu (you have to ask for it) and everything we try is always phenomenal and not nearly as expensive as the meat menu.
I know rearaurants have suffer during covid, but this was really disappointing. The food was bad and so was the service. Extremely overpriced and nothing out of the ordinary. CN tower prices with really low quality and taste. We had the surf and turf and the beef was sooo dry and tasteless. Flies everywhere it was disgusting. Like I said, yes, its during covid but the attention to detail that could have gone into place would have made up for the lack of everything. There is definitely room for improvement. I would not go back. Also, our bill was over $260 ( 4 mains, 2 apps and 2 beers) for dishes that were mostly noodles with drumsticks and dried beef. Very upsetting.

This is the best restaurant in Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge. Maybe the best restaurant in all of Ontario. It has to be a contender for the best restaurant in the country. If you don't believe me, check it out. The owner spent years cooking in Vietnam, Hong Kong and Indonesia. What comes out of the kitchen is a fusion of Southeast Asian cuisines. The name comes from the tin-roofed food shacks in Asian cities where cooks work over gas stoves and charcoal grills. They hang naptha lamps for light. For the uninitiated the menu at Bhimas can be intimidating, but the serving staff are very, very helpful. There is a tasting menu that includes seven dishes. It changes every night. For a starter, I highly recommend The Mel Brown, which was created to honour the late-great soul-jazz-funk-blues fusion guitarist who lived in Kitchener for the last 20 years of his life. The Mel Brown has juicy and seasoned pulled pork wrapped in a noodle. That, along with the tasting menu, and you are pretty much guaranteed a meal you will not soon forget. The specials are excellent. The atmosphere is great. The food is truly memorable. Bhimas is right up there with the best I have had in Chicago, New York or Montreal. Expensive, but worth every dollar.
Food was amazing. Atmosphere was cozy and interesting. Service was lovely. The menu item descriptions can be a bit confusing. Just take your time and ask questions. There is no rush here. Very relaxed and friendly.
The food is always fantastic. They have some interesting specials in right now if you want to try something off menu. The had a new waiter and he was great. Absolutely love the atmosphere and it's so nice when the open up the front doors in the summer.
Some of the best food in town. Delicious food and cocktails, extensive wine. Reservations recommended, decore could use a big update, but chefs in kitchen are outstanding. Have never once been disappointed.
Good presentation and nice atmosphere, kitchen staff needs to turn lights up to see what they are prepping; cilantro with rotten edges, cherry tomatoes off their prime for a while ago, as were some chunks of the pineapple. Laksa Bhima; coconut sauce flavourful, scallops were perfect and tiger shrimp slighly overdone but very good. Others had: Sayour Lodeh which was sent back to the kitchen as not edible, textures were not complementing each other, some ingredients were off. Pad Guay Toew was too much on a salty side, carrots not cooked enough, overall good but not great. Disappointment at this price level.
Don't let the wooden plank of a signage post fool you. This place knows what they are doing. Everything from the servers, chefs and interior is well done. They are currently doing a surprise full course meal where they serve cuisine from different parts of Southeast Asia. Definitely worth a try.
Definitely not worth the money. Don't recommend at all.
Absolutely my favourite restaurant in KW. Have never been disappointed. There are some complaints about wait times in the reviews. Please keep in mind that the menu clearly states that the food will take as long as it takes to get it right so if you are expecting in and out, don't bother. It's WORTH the wait though and it's never been overly crazy for us even on holidays.
I'd been really excited to try Bhima's Warung, but came away very disappointed. My wife and I both ordered the tasting menu (Part's Mostly Known: Bangkok). The main course was curry with quail. The quail was raw. The server brought the quail back to the kitchen and they said it was cooked perfectly. I understand that for game birds you can cook it to medium, maybe medium rare, but this was definitely raw. They did offer to cook me a new one, but given that the kitchen thought the first was perfect, I wasn't interested. Another course was a Foie Gras with lychee ginger foam. The lychee ginger foam they served us was just whipped cream. They later gave us a small bowl of the foam to taste -- too late! Very little in terms of apology for these blunders -- they made it seem like I was being a difficult customer. Won't be going back.
As soon as you get inside you just know you're somewhere special. It's hard to explain. My menu was pungent with a strange smell. And it has a story written with broken English, and I can only wonder how it has not been properly edited after years of being in business. It feels surreal. Bhima's is fantastic. And expensive. The presentation is the most impressive I've seen in the city. The food was absolutely incredible. If you like spicy food with an exotic Far East flare that you can't quite pinpoint the culinary origin of, you have to try it. This would be my top restaurant pick hands down. I consider it the jewel of Waterloo restaurants. Bhima's makes Dine into Divine.
Food was excellent as usual. Only complaints were that the monkey fish was a bit salty and waitress' shift ended during our meal and she didn't telling us before leaving so we sat around a while waiting until someone else came over. All in all, a good experience though and we will be back.

Small portions and overpriced. Decor is charming and wait staff was good. I'll start off by saying that I never write reviews, but the food left me in disbelief. Had the laksa bhima and was completely and utterly disappointed. I've never been let down by laksa before. The serving bowl was half empty. Tiger shrimp was ok, mussels were shriveled, 1/4 of this dish was cherry tomatoes and the worst offence is that there was almost no laksa soup/sauce. I'm not kidding...It was like eating a mix mash of western style buttered seafood with a light drizzle of vaguely coconut tasting curry. They even paired it with a side of jasmine rice to add to the already dry dish. Feels like they are trying too hard with the fusion and forgot about staying true to the ethnic cuisine they named themselves after. This is Asian inspired food much like the movie 300 is based on true events...the beer was good.
Very fancy and pretty pricey but definitely worth it because the food is just impeccable.
Amazing Asian and French fusion @ Waterloo, Ca! Rustic decor brings you to Indonesia, fantastic service, rich, and flavourful food with huge portions!
We have had wonderful experiences every time we dine at Bhima's Warung! The food and atmosphere are fantastic and it is always a special night out.
Very outdated and quite smelly interior. The prices are very high for this restaurant. I had the duck which was not bad.
Food was ok. It is interesting to see a male server treating Caucasian and Asian customers with very different attitudes in a high priced restaurant like here. This is my last time dining here. Best of luck.
If I was to provide feedback I'd say that this place is average. The food is good but in my opinion, over priced. I enjoyed my meal but I wouldn't ever go back. For a place that charges $40.00 a plate, I'd suggest you clean the cobwebs and dead bugs off of your lights and shelves, it's every where.
Awesome time, group of 13 easily accommodated on a sunday evening! Leanne the manager is incredible and so is the staff! The food here is exquisite and rich! Flavourful but not too spicy and everyone raved about it during and after!
The food is so great! I liked the taste mix and the food presentation. Be warned that on busy days, food might take a while to be ready.
We went here for my wife's birthday. Fantastic food and service. Portion and taste definitely is worth for the price. Would highly recommend.
Wow ... last night's dinner was great! Four apps, four (Brady) steaks and two desserts, along with Goldie beers, a couple Manhattans and a piña colada. All was cooked and presented fantastically well. The staff was incredibly attentive, offering advice and explanations on their offerings (it was our first visit after all, and we had questions!) Many thanks to Rob Brady, who told me that BW makes incredible steaks (with his meat of course ... LOL) ... and he was a right, the steaks were sublime. Will we return ... of course! Can't wait.
Reserved a table for 2 at 7pm, waited until 7:20 pm to get seated. The water came very quick, but the appetizer was not even ready 60 minutes after we ordered, so we just left. I understand that it can be busy around that time, but one hour of waiting with nothing on the table (except water) is just not acceptable for me personally. We were the only asians there, and we are in our early 20s, not sure if race or age are related to our experience.
I have been a few times now and it is always delicious and so authentic. Everything we have ordered is so flavorful and fresh! The decor inside is cozy and clean. Nice open kitchen
I had 2 steaks of different kinds and an appetizer (forgot their menu names) but all of them were fantastic! Would definitely visit again and their staffs are very friendly.
The food is really good but a bit pricey. Make sure you call ahead of time to get a table as they book up QUICK. My only concern is the open kitchen and how the smoke from cooking suffocates you in the dining area. Also we felt like our waitress was very pushy and wanted us out as fast as possible. Either way I would like to go back with some family this time and try something else!
Bhima’s Warung is my FAVOURITE restaurant. Every bite of food provides an explosion of flavour in your mouth ???? Don’t let the humble appearance of the outside of the restaurant deceive you! It is a gem! Service is great. The food is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted ????
Terrible stomach ache after dinner tonight for both me and my wife. We ordered the same lamb curry special and after getting home we ended up vomiting and being in pain for the rest of the night. This is the first time with such a bad experience there, and don't think ever going back.
Fantastic establishment. You need to get a reservation because it gets absolutely packed. The service was amazing, very respectful and kind. Food, of course, was great as well. We didn't know what we were eating half the time but it tasted pretty darn amazing. I gave it four stars as opposed to five because I just don't think it's worth the price they're charging. For 4 people, it came to $300 (including tip). Food and service was great but the price was more of a novelty. Definitely worth trying once in your life.
A truly unique mix of flavours in every dish. The staff are very friendly and the portions are quite fair. A great spot for going out with friends or for a romantic date night.
Amazing food! Cramped space. Music doesn't match the atmosphere, and I didn't love our server...but really really good food
This place has the most amazing curry dishes in town with the most tender meat in the dishes. Highly recommend everyone try this place at least once, but also be prepared to pay more than other restaurants (really worth it though).
FINALLY got to go and have a meal at Bhima's Warung on King St N in Waterloo (just north of University Ave)! The limited hours and huge popularity of this place made it a challenge for us. My wife & I have been wanting to go for ages, but found it tough with our wacky work schedules. So when we both had an evening free this past week, I immediately made a call to reserve a table. Of course, Bhima's is only open 5-9 pm, so when I called in the morning for a reservation, I had no choice but to leave a voicemail. But someone did call me back in mid-afternoon and informed me that it would be tough to get a table that evening unless it was before 6:00 or after 7:30 because that was their crazy busy peak time. So I grabbed a 5:00 slot! Better an early supper at a place like this than to miss it completely! Bhima's effort to create an Indonesian/Asian atmosphere is outstanding! From the decor to the tables & tableware to the servers (both male & female) wearing ethnic sarongs, the effect was complete. The only oddity was the music. It was (unfortunately in my humble opinion) distinctly North American (Bob Dylan, etc), and was the only thing that served to slightly detract from the atmosphere the restaurant had otherwise obviously worked so hard to create. One unique feature was a sheet of Indonesian phrases that accompanied the menu. In addition to the things one would normally expect to see ("Good evening", "May I have another drink?", and "The food is delicious"), several of the phrases had us almost howling with laughter: "The waitress is rude!", "The waitress is sexy!", "The chef is rude", "The food is rotten", and "Please bring the bill to my husband." (Sorry that the photo is slightly blurry. Didn't realize it wasn't clear until after we got home!) Another interesting thing was seeing the chef go outside to the patio and harvest herbs for the kitchen from various pots and plots planted there. Then there was the food. Oh. My. Goodness! We opted for dishes from their daily specials menu rather than the main menu since we weren't sure we'd ever get a chance to have them again anytime soon. Kathy had pork belly & grilled pork loin with eggplant sambal, peanut sauce, and rice. I went for the tempura-battered perch, mango slaw, potato wedges, and a yogurt-based green curry tartar sauce. Both were so delicious! Be prepared to spend some time at Bhima's. The service is good and prompt but wait time for the meal was about half an hour or a bit more. Of course, we didn't mind because we appreciated the fact that the food is prepared fresh. And it gave us more time to soak in and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the place. And be prepared to spend some money. Two drinks and two mains cost us just over $100 with tip. But you don't go to Bhima's Warung just to eat a meal. You go for a dining experience that is unique in Waterloo Region. And that's worth every penny! Highly recommended! Reserve ahead!
What an amazing place to eat. The food was soooo flavorful and delicious.
Some of the best food I've ever had. It's tucked away and discreet, and has a dark, warm ambiance, but the food is incredible! I knew I loved Thai cuisine and Vietnamese cuisine, and this place introduced me to Indonesian food, and it is some of the most delicious, flavourful, fragrant, satisfying food I've ever tasted. Definitely worth visiting this place and trying multiple dishes from their menu - including their drink menu, which was also extremely delicious.
Private party allowed us to fully indulge on beautiful hot fresh plates for 3 hrs. Great experience
The food here was good, but the service was terrible. Showed up just before 7 and didn't get our first dish for over two hours. After an hour of waiting we asked the waitress what was taking so long and she just said it was busy and our food was coming soon. Meanwhile tables all around us that were seated after us got meals and finishes eating while we waited. Another hour went by and we pressed again for her to answer why we were waiting two hours for food. She then said "maybe a little bit my fault" without an apology or reasonable explanation. We are pretty sure that our server forgot to put in our order, but wouldn't own up to it or apologize for it, and didn't even try to offer any sort of compensation for the substantial delay. It's flat out unacceptable to wait over two hours for food. I wouldn't come back.
Quite pricey compared to most restaurants in KW, but definitely wonderful environment, tasty food and friendly service.
What a delicious meal and atmosphere. You can really take your time, enjoy your food and take in the area. I would suggest a bit of dusting on the wall ornaments but the food was delicious. I recommend the caramel sauce on chicken, it is amazing. We shared 3 apps and 2 entrees between the 3 of us plus a dessert and 3 cocktails for $150 before till. Definitely a place to treat yourself but the servers were fantastic and I definitely want to return.
Amazing food and great cocktails. Very cozy and unique atmosphere. The staff were super friendly as well!
My husband and I have always loved coming to Bhimas. Amazing food and service every time. We had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding here and were completely stunned by the amazing spread that was presented to us. I'd rate it higher than a 5* if I could. Bhimas will always be a favourite of ours.????
Some of the BEST dining & service in KW!! Incredible flavours, safe & comfortable dining room, charming & accommodating Service & Staff!! Must must MUST dine here! Support all the local small businesses that you can!
This place spoils you with deliciousness! Get the crab stuffed oysters or the fried shrimp for a treat. The sauces used are pretty authentic and the noodles are the right amount of xhewy/crunchy. Ambience is classy and relaxing.
This place is amazing, the food is absolutely fantastic, the atmosphere is superb and the staff are very nice and helpful. The salads are all unique and nicely flavourful. I recommend the lamb (Biri Biri something) - it was amazing - or any of the pasta dishes - they're cheaper than the entrees, but completely filling. It's on the expensive side, but nothing you won't see anywhere else - nice food is expensive. Average entree is between $30 and $40, pasta/rice dishes are $19 or so.
Don't let the outside fool you. The building may look a bit run down on the outside, but if you're looking for a unique dining experience with fantastic food, you should definitely consider trying this place. There is a good range of choices on the menu and you will not likely find many of the dishes on the menu here anywhere else in KW. Some may be a bit too esoteric for some people, but there are still plenty of options for those who are less adventurous. Regardless of what you choose, the food is flavourful and masterfully presented.
Don't let the rough exterior fool you! Bhimas is a high class restaurant with a high class menu. They have some of the most well put together dishes I have ever eaten but be prepared to pay for it ????
Excellent Southeast Asian food, carefully prepared; knowledgeable and friendly staff; relaxing ambience, comfortable seating. It's good to enjoy funky and spicy flavors.
Incredible!! For us it's a once a year treat that is well worth the wait and never disappoints. I try to make it a point to try new things each time and everything is always amazing. A must go-to restaurant for anyone who seems themself a Foodie in the K-W area!!
Waited 2 hours for our dinner and the special features were a miss. $50 for an entree that was made at difference times which would explain the Rubbery Lobster. Lesson learned to just send the food back, leave, or just don’t wait that long. We were hungry so we ate. We were told that they have been missing key people since they opened their other restaurant. I guess at our expense. The staff didn’t care and management didn’t follow up so I’m reluctantly leaving this review. It is too bad as we really enjoyed going for dinner over the past 20 years. I guess all things come to a end.
Meal type
We had a pretty disappointing experience here tonight. I took my partner out for dinner on her birthday, and had high expectations about the food and the restaurant after reading lots of great reviews. We sat down at 6.30, and waited patiently until 8, at which point no food had arrived. So, we left. The staff explained that several large tables had come in ahead of us and ordered lots of stuff, but as we waited, the table right next to us ordered and got through two courses of delicious looking food. I would love to say something nice about this restaurant, but 1.5 hours is way too long to wait for food at any restaurant.
It is a good restaurant. The only problem is that the portions are a bit too big, and the menu is hard to understand. It has a lot of vegetarian options though, which is great.
Went to Bhima's with another couple who had been there numerous times and is a favourite of theirs. At a glance the menu might seem a bit pricey, but the portion sizes were actually quite large. We split 2 apps between the 4 of us and still, 3 of us could not finish our mains and had to take the rest to go. The menu is very interesting and everything looked pretty good. They did have some appetizer and main course features but I found myself a little lost with the lengthy complicated description. They had some interesting cocktails and I was pleasantly surprised at the draught beer selection, they had 6 taps which is not bad considering the size of this place, but they were all rare/seasonal craft beers which is something you don't often see. The place was packed and although the atmosphere appears to be cozy at a glance, it was actually pretty loud. Overall I wasn't blown away by Bhima's but I would recommend checking it out.
Second time here. Amazing. Best high quality gourmet food in town. Great to treat someone special. Atmosphere is outstanding. Food is 10/10
Service was terrible, the waitress didn't even know we were there. The food was even worse, being bland and flavorless. Prices are very expensive for the quality of food you get, they also only accept debit/cash so be aware of that. I would avoid at all costs, would not come back
Very delicious I had the Indian Chicken dish. Lots of food but also higher end pricing, expect to pay 30-50$ for dinner. They cook it all fresh so the wait is usually 20-30 mins but it is well worth the wait. I would go here for special occasions.
Love the food! Can’t wait to go back!
This place blows my socks off. They are all round amazing. The staff are fantastic and the chef and cooks are remarkably accommodating. Eating vegan here is a breeze, and the staff will make sure you get a unique meal offering on occasion when they are less busy to cook off menu. What a fantastic adventure. Getting to try new flavors and textures every time. The menu is fairly pricy but you get excellent service, a unique experience flavourful and texture wise, and generous portions. It's always a treat to eat a Bhima's. Also, if you get take out or a doggy bag they package you food into the coolest tinfoil swan!
Service was slow. Food is pricey but tastes good. Portions are on the conservative side. Big bonus is any left overs they make a swan boat for you to take your left overs home in
This is my favourite restaurant in Waterloo Region, possibly my favourite in Ontario. The food is unique and full of flavour combinations that are mind blowing. If you are in the area this is a must visit. You gotta eat here!!
I would say this is the best restaurant in KW. Welcoming staff, unique/warm environment, and a menu full of humour and unheard of items. Every dish is a peice of art that will fill you up. Pick this place for your next special occasion.
One of the best meals I've had. Sat at the bar and watched the kitchen so it's thing. Great dining experience and the severing staff and chef + cooks are too notch. Will be coming back soon!
Always an amazing experience. Incredible food, ambiance is amazing, and a staff that really cares about the overall experience. Best restaurant in town!
Incredibly Delicious! We booked a table for 8 and chose the Asian style service. It was absolutely the best meal ever! Asian style is the best way to sample a lot of different appetizers and entrees. Everything was superb! Several members of our party had challenging food allergies and sensitivities. They were very accommodating and took great care to ensure that there was no cross contamination of foods. The bread pudding and creme brulee were amazing! Thanks Leanne, Paul, Jon and Heather! I don't know why it took me so long to go there for the first time but it won't be as long for my next visit!
The food here is great, I love the variety. My friends and I love eating here! The service is always excellent as well!
What a great spot for any dining occasion! Bhima’s is my definite go-to, and for 20 years +/-it has kept delivering a fantastic menu, fantastic service and a vast selection of drinkables for all kinds of thirsts. If you can save room for after your mains, I recommend the ice creams and donuts
Loved the atmosphere! The staff was great and did a great job showing us the choices. Really loved the food, you could tell that they were prepared with care. Specials were really good. Would definitely come back for a date or special event.
Very unique dining experience. The food quality and selection is superb.
My favorite spot. Been here about fifty times, I've had some bad experiences, but i've had more great ones to outweigh it all. I usually order about 6 apps and share an entree/special. Favorite apps are nothing glamourous but i order them everytime. Cumi & Chagio never dissapoint. Squid in the cumi is always cooked perfectly. Love doing large tables and introducing new people to the resto. I don't eat out alot, but I eat at the ones the matter. This is one of those places.
One of the best places to dine in Waterloo (if not the best).
Service
Great place if you want to have a nice dinner. Waiters were friendly and the food certainly did not disappoint. Would definitely recommend booking a reservation.
Went with the family (7 ppl) for my brother’s birthday. Got the family style menu which included a nice variety of appetizers and then an absurd quantity of excellent entrees. The baby back ribs, rib eye and monkfish risotto were highlights. Good cocktails, very reasonable wine list, top notch service. This place is really great and I’ll happily come back again.
Heard so many raves about Bhima's that I took a solo trip over to check it out. Kind of a rough neighborhood and nothing great to look at from the outside (the taxi driver asked me if I was sure this was where I wanted to get out). But, once inside the little fenced yard and seated at a comfy table...you're in for a treat. Pamela helped set me up with a nice beverage (a local peach margarita) and I already knew what I wanted to eat from hearing so many recommendations: Bebek Bule - Muscovy duck with Chiang Mai curry. I ordered and the weather looked a little ominous as I sat sipping my drink but the rain held back and passed as the main arrived. Wow! Perfectly cooked duck with curry and noodles. Flavorful and rich. I was and am very happy. Terima kasih, Bhima's! Highly recommended (make reservations...they are busy!)
Simply the best meal I have had in YEARS, anywhere, I've been. I had the Cam Chia Tom soup which was amazing, savoury and extremely tasty. I had the Bistik Tandoori which was absolutely outstanding.
The food at this place is amazing. The prices are fairly expensive ($30-$50 for an entree), but the portions are generous, and the flavours incredible. I ordered a delicious curry with lobster and monkey fish. My vegetarian dining companion ordered a tempeh dish with pekoras and curried vegetables. We both loved our choices. I also highly recommend getting one of their signature cocktails — our server was great at guiding us through the list. We were there once before a few years ago... but we won’t wait that long to go back again. You’ll spend a lot of money, but you’ll be happy.
One of the best meals I've ever had! It has a cozy vibe and excellent food.
Amazing! If you are willing to spend a lot on the best meal, this is the spot! Creative, adventurous, delicious food. Awesome service and atmosphere.
Very pricey food with moderate portions. Quality of the food is decent relative to the price. Very different variety in terms of flavours in both the entree and appetizers. Service is always great as well. Unfortunately both of the times I dined at this restaurant, they had sold out of the entree that I specifically wanted.
Absolutely amazing. By far my favorite restaurant in KW. I've recommended Bhima's to dozens and dozens of friends, family, and colleagues. Balinese flavours applied to North American proteins. Very complex flavours profiles, very high end ingredients, very calm and comfortable environment. Unlike any other restaurant I've ever been to anywhere. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but don't judge a book by its cover, Bhima's is sure to knock your socks off. It's worth the price and always feels special.
I can see y ppl like this place. Personally not a fan tho. A bit upscale (which means u should expect some wait time for serving and a bit pricey for not a very large portion), alright atmosphere and has exotic flavour. if that’s what ur looking for.
Not only have I dined here, but when i was in high school, I worked here. I was lucky to be able to try so many of the wonderful meals that come out of the kitchen here at Bhimas. I can guarantee you, EVERYTHING that comes out of this kitchen is not only fresh, but Paul goes out of his way to ensure that all of the meats and produce are of very high quality, and better yet, he supports small businesses while doing so. Paul (owner) is a wonderful man with stories that could entertain you for hours. If you’ve been debating eating here, you’ve got to. The staff is very friendly, and you definitely feel “at home” here at Bhima’s.
Vegan friendly , has a separate vegetarian menu. I enjoyed the food there. They have good vegetable pakora, mashed taro and curry. To me, the atmosphere is a little bit strange. But some people may enjoy the unique sculptures, decor, and paintings on the wall.
Man I love this place. The tenderloin is out of this world. Just got back from a birthday dinner and I'm so full I can't move - none of the tiny portions for high prices nonsense here. Yet absolutely high class fare.
The food is unique, fresh and flavourful. The service is attentive and the atmosphere is relaxed. Bhima's is s great place for special occasions. We had the oysters, dumplings, steak, and fried bananas for dessert (plus a few more things). I loved the addition of the taro mash and pickled onions to the steak - what a delicious combination!
Food is great, however the service was terrible - rude, no check ups, no water refills. Surrounding location to get to the front door is absolutely disgusting.
1 word. Wonderful!!!!! This place is way better than it's exterior look. The food is absolutely amazing and so is the service. Money well spent. Will definitely return.
Just had my first indoor dining experience in 18 months! Tables are still well spaced out. Lots of ventilation. Will go back soon! The food is always amazing!
Hands down the best restaurant in all of Waterloo Region. There's nothing else like it. It's truly a unique experience. From the flavorful asian-inspired dishes, to the incredible service and ambiance - this restaurant delivers on all levels. Take your friends and family here - they will be impressed!
The service here was top notch from beginning to end! The food was decent but didn't match up to the hype. If you like salt in your food make sure you ask them to add it while they are making your food because they don't have it at their table. Great spices and flavours. This perfect for a fancy date. I had a lovely experience, the ambiance was phenomenal, and great music but I wouldn't come back to eat here again.
Food is always incredible and the staff are equally amazing. It has a charming Indonesian ambiance, but could use a bit of a refresh. Doesn't look upscale from the street, but certainly is. I'd highly recommend!
Best food in town hands down. Every bite of every course was a thousand flavors on your pallette. Relaxed atmosphere. Awesome service.
The food is great, but you will wait a long time for your meal. Very quiet, seldom seems busy. Interesting food and menu in general.
Every single visit is a trip down flavour town! Flavour, presentation, and service are all top notch. One of Waterloo's best food destinations. Period.
You walk in and it's dimly lit, a bit cramped. You can see the kitchen. You are handed a menu that's printed on pretty ordinary looking paper, like a story. Everything gets better from here though, the food is absolute perfection. The Cornish hen was moist, seasoned to perfection. The yam fries were wonderful and the drinks went with the food very well. Beware though - the portion sizes are HUGE. We had dinner and enough for the lunch next day. Wonderful, quirky little piece of heaven. Paul, chef Sarah and Lisa.. you guys built a wonderful little place we will definitely come back to.
This restaurant does everything right. Perfect atmosphere, amazing staff, and food to die for! 10/10 would go again and again!
Bhima's WARNING: Please do not fall for the hype. Was looking forward to going here for a long time and now that I've been, I regret it. Service was strange from the moment we called to make a reservation. Menu was extremely vague and came with an interesting opening page warning patrons that food will basically come out whenever they feel like it. Have somewhere to be? "Relax," it says, "This isn't Toronto." As for the food, it was disappointing and overpriced. We ordered two different noodle dishes and they ended up looking exactly the same with the same strange hodge podge of ingredients. Both dishes were described as "fried noodles" but were served soggy in a watery curry. Want any protein with your noodles? Chicken, beef, or shrimp aren't even offered as add-ons. They were also not very accommodating to one of our allergies. We ended up paying close to $100 for two upset stomachs. Would not recommend to say the least. So many better options in the area for half the price and no pretentiousness.
Bhima's is not your everyday restaurant. Came here to celebrate a birthday. Got home 3 hrs later, full and happy. Exotic cocktails, imaginative dishes, intriguing chef specials and top notch service. Duck, ribs, and mixed seafood mains were all delicious tonight. Bring your gold card - 250 for dinner and drinks for 3.
My wife and I had a Wonderful experience. We sat at the bar and we felt like we were watching a show. Cocktails were fabulous and the food was unique and flavourful. We will be back!
This is my absolute favourite place in K-W. It's definitely a hidden gem considering many people pass by it without even noticing it. I have gone multiple times with my partner, a couple times with friends, and once with my parents, and never has this place let me down in their service or quality of food. It is mainly Indonesian/Balinese food with sometimes a French twist. Very interesting flavours. It is pricey, but they have very large portions.Great selection of food and desserts. Our vegetarian friends really enjoyed their choices as well. The curries are absolutely amazing, and the nightly specials are even better. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. We recommend this place to all our friends. If you like rich and flavourful foods, definitely give this place a shot.
My favourite restaurant in town. Upscale casual with fantastic food. The foie gras potstickers are to die for, but everything I've eaten here has been great.
We ordered online and had a fantastic take home meal for our wedding anniversary. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was packaged in containers that kept the food hot and could be recycled. We had the tenderloin and the duck and both were outstanding! We would have preferred to dine at Bhima's but obviously that is not an option right now. Well Done Bhima's Warung! Thank you!
From the outside...accdg to my indonesian friend it looks like any lil store restaurant in bali but once you are inside you start to feel like youre in bali for a vacation... the best part is that they do amazing work on their plating. The food is amazing. If there is one thing I love about the place is the food and the presentation of the food. The service was also excellent. I love th ambiance of the place. Anyone looking for amazing, tasty, and balinese style indonesian cuisine. You have to try this place.
We came for our 10th Anniversary and were very excited to try multiple dishes. The waiter seemed rushed but all the food we got was amazing- especially the Mel Brown. The reason we are giving a three star as we asked about adding 'shrimp' to our rice dish and she asked how many pieces (i picked 4). We were shocked to see that we were charged $5.50 PER shrimp- So $22 for 4 medium size shrimp. I wish the waiter had given us a heads up on this as it was quite shocking and put a damper on the special night for us.
The food is as good as anything you could get from the many Asian restaurants around KW, but three times the price and half the service. I spent a shocking amount of money on very little food and the waitress basically forgot we existed the whole time. This place is a massive rip-off. Go anywhere else in town and you're basically guaranteed to have a more authentic experience, consistently good food and good service, and you won't have to give up your first-born to do it.
Always a fantastic dining experience! Very creative dishes with interesting ingredients and combinations that I would never think of putting together, but somehow they always work and are phenomenal. I would love to just bottle all of their sauces...they're one of my favourite restaurants in the KW area- always a treat!!
Bhima's is my favorite restaurant in K-W now for many years. The food is amazing, the staff fun and always enjoyable, and the kitchen is a non-stop source of watchable entertainment! The Pad-Ped is never served the same twice, and never anything but a fantastic fusion of spicy fun! Check it out!
Our family of 8 people dined last night for our sons 38th b'day. Service was exceptional. We never felt rushed. Food was truly amazing with flavours that accented high quality. Highly recommend this dining experience. We will be returning for sure. Thank you everyone for a great evening.
The atmosphere was casual but the food and service was exceptional. Very large portions so you are getting your money's worth.
You will need a reservation in order to dine in to this restaurant. They were nice enough to accomodate us as we were a half hour early. It's a nice place, it has alot of Southeast Asian decor which totally matches the dishes they serve. However, the music they play is a little contradictory and a bit loud considering it gets really packed and it isn't that big of a place. If you're seated at the back corner, it tends to get a bit smoky as it is close to the kitchen. The food is priced well, cooked by a chef. I didn't particularly enjoyed what I ordered. I had oysters for apps and for my entree I ordered from the apps menu which was the smoked salmon with tiger shrimp and mango salad. I did enjoy the banh bao that my friend ordered and their pad thai. I guess I will give it a try again to see if there's a dish made for my pallets.
While it may not look special from the outside, Bhima's is amazing. Fantastic Indonesian food. The service was always great even with a big group.
Big let down considering friends have been trying to get me to go for years. It took forever to get drinks, like I mean over half an hour for a martini - that just requires pouring. None of the staff seemed to know what was going on. The specials were plentiful but complicated and it would have helped to have them printed - by the time she moved to the second one we forgot what the first one was, plus we could barely hear inside. Oh and we specifically booked the patio in our reservation for a friend's birthday but were told it was booked when we arrived - we sat close enough to see and not one party came in the whole 3 or 4 hours we were there. As for the food - from apps to dinner it was very overpriced and honestly just didn't taste good. I took my Pad Thai home and gave it to the dog. Which was massively disappointing considering the cost plus I love Pad Thai - how can you mess that up? The only reason I didn't give it one star (or zero) is I believe they are opening a new location so that may explain the new staff and general delays/confusion, as well I tried a few bites of my friends plates and quite enjoyed their meals so maybe I just got a dud. I doubt I will give it another try though - too expensive to risk it. Honestly some people just feel fancy when they spend a lot of money.
I got a red curry dish called pad ped surf & turf. It was amazing (though I was pretty hungry and may have rated any decent food 10 stars). It is indeed the best red curry you can get in the KW area. It took me some time to get used to the bright green walls inside this restaurant but I liked the tropical atmosphere fitting for an Indonesian fusion restaurant. It felt like I was eating in the middle of some forest, lol. The server was very helpful and knowledgeable. He knew when to come help us and when to leave us alone. He seemed to enjoy working there. It's located in the heart of a busy student residence area but the price may not be friendly to your typical student budget (at least $30+ per person before taxes). I am not sure if there is parking available. I would definitely return to try different dishes. They are open for only dinner after 5 pm.
Absolutely amazing! We've been here many times and its definitely our favourite restaurant in town. I would highly recommend choosing the tasting menu option if it's available when you go. We had it on our first visit and it was the best way to really see what this place is about. It allowed us to try things we might not have ordered on our own and everything was incredible.
Food was really tasty. Highly recommend.
Unique Asian atmosphere here in Waterloo, good patio.
Based on the great reviews we decided to check this place out. We got he nasi campur. The flavor and quality was just not there for this dish based on the description and price ($46). I still give it a 4 star as maybe this might have been that the dish that was off and maybe there are other great dishes.I will give this place one more try. The dessert was quite good and refreshing.
Terrible food. Bland, overcooked and a bad combination of ingredients. Also don't forget that they only take Debit/Cash which is very odd for a restaurant pricing their items around $30-40. Avoid at all costs, you could get much better Asian food at nearby restaurants.
Food was delicious and service was great! Only thing is, is that this place is way over a student's budget. Atmosphere is a little dark.
Not worth the price. Perfectly good seafood smothered in too much sauce. Laksa was $39 and had two shrimp two inexplicablely deep fried scallops and some mussel. The flavour is okay. Nasi goreng is okay and the appetizer are none standard.
Service
Ate here for our anniversary. Very friendly knowledgeable staff, fast service, and the food was delicious. Pricy but worth it, portions were good and the execution and presentation were fantastic, right down to the little tinfoil swans they wrapped our leftovers in.
I've been here many times over the years and my opinion has changed lately. I always know it's going to take time there but this time was different. It took 4 hours for us to have a couple appetizers, main course and desserts. There were times that no one came by for up to 45 minutes. I was going crazy. I was also not really enjoying my food, it just was ok. I'm not sure if anything has changed in the operations there, but a 4 hour service and not really enjoying the drinks or food was disappointing.
Had take out for an anniversary meal. Food was exceptional as always and travelled home well. Delicious - thank you
This is a cozy restaurant with South East Asia, in particular Bali, Indonesia environment setting. However, do not expect that the taste of the food would be Indonesian taste. The names of the food on the menu do not reflect the original taste.
We arrived around 830 pm and ordered 2 drinks each and had an appetizer which was interesting and quite well-done. The problem occurred when we asked to box our leftovers, for reference a 1/2 meal ($45 individual main) of which contained tiger shrimp, large scallop, sauce, veggies and rice. We kindly asked the waitress to have a to-go for the left-overs. We paid and waited for them to prep the leftovers. Sadly it was thrown out and what was provided in compensation for one of our original meal leftovers is pictured below. Despite our bill being $170.00, our leftovers came with a few raw and substituted ingredients. To which we received brief instructions from our server to cook everything together and it will be even more delicious....this was not our first time at Bhimas but it may be our last, at least for now. You be the judge...
Super expensive food but such great quality! Employees are friendly and helpful. The inside is very nice! Which surprised me given what it looks like on the outside. Another must eat.
If you're asian and eat this food, you're going to be really disappointed. It's basically a less flavourful thai food at 5x the cost. The waiters were nice but they only accept cash which is WILD since it's 50 dollar/dish
Dont know HOW THE LABEL FOR THIS CAME TO BE DISPLAYED BUT IT IS ONE IF THE BEST RESTARAUNTS IN ONTARIO 5 STAR!!! One of the most exciting and creative chefs in Ontario. Watching the chef cook from the bar seats just increases the culinary experience! Priceless experience in fine, artistic dining!
I was expecting a bowl of hot beef pho, but get something else equally delicious
This place is average, I think the amazing ratings it gets is because it's a restaurant in Waterloo and there aren't many decent Indonesia restos. It was really hyped up and you pay the price tag for it. I wouldn't go back again simply because the prices are not worth it. The vibe is excellent, you'll have a good time with company but it missed the mark for food. I didn't like having raw Cherry tomatoes and chunks of pineapple in my green curry.. Just doesn't go.
Came here for a my girlfriend’s birthday last year (pre-covid) and the food did not disappoint. High quality ingredients with unique dishes and flavours. Food felt high-end with a very relaxed interior. The customer service was excellent as well! We got our leftovers to-go and they packaged it in some tin foil that was beautifully wrapped in the shape of a swan.
Diverse menu with something for everyone. Large portions! Personally, I went for the Laotian tasting menu which provided an amazing range of flavour experiences. The flight of beers was also excellent. Our server (aka Ivan the Wonderful) was both attentive and helpful, further adding to our experience here. We look forward to eating here again in the future!
There is reason why Bhima's is considered as one of the best restaurant in town. No matter what you order, the food is absolutely amazing. Oysters, crickets, lamb, beef, chicken, fish, venison... We tried it all and 5 stars for each plate!
Had really high expectations but the food was so bland. Service was also bad. It was like the waitress didn't even know we were there. Overall bad experience and do NOT recommend that anyone go here. There are plenty of amazing restaraunts in KW region - this is not one of them.
I have had a different item on the menu everytime I go and they always out do themselves. The food is absolutely delicious and the portions are excellent. 10 out of 10.
It was overpriced BLEND inauthentic Vietnamese food. CASH-ONLY but still takes $100 per person, seems like a scam to avoid taxes. TRICKS EVERY NEW STUDENT DON'T WASTE UR MONEY
Meal type
The food is interesting, services is very good from the beginning to the end. But the food is definetly on the pricey side, the lamb didn't really justify for it's price
My friend and I ordered a duck dish and a sea food plate for mean course, we also had a pork shrimp rice roll for appetizer. Not recommending at all. Dishes looked good but tasted normal, not delicious and were way overpriced. The drinks were fine, but won't come back again.
We had a great experience. Food was wonderful as was the service. The duck was likely my favorite, but every was very well done.
Went here for valentines and enjoyed some specials that included large slices of foie gras and smoked scallops. Bucket list ✔ thanks for the delicious food and unbeatable service
When you walk in, you're greeted by a kind hostess and led to your table. The yam fries are giant, but taste really good, especially the sauce. Best of all was the ayam india. It was flavorful and practically lunch for the next day. I would definitely come here again!
Interesting menu and very relaxed environment. Do not go here if you are in a rush as the food is careingly and individually prepared.
Interesting & fun dining experience, with tasty food & large portions, however it was quite expensive.
A blessed experience with the food gods. This place is heaven for foodies.
It is an fantastic restaurant on King Street. I visited the restaurant few times and it always give me the best experience here. Food, drink and service are all amazing. I love their fusion mixed dishes. It creates new asian taste to western dish or mix different asian concepts to one dish which is awesome! One more thing I love is they don't use plastic container to package leftover that they use foil paper to wrap leftover like a swan. That's very special!
Always incredible! Food, service, atmosphere, everything! Most unique food in the region, always top quality. The prices may look expensive but the quality is high end and the portions are enormous! Worth every penny!
Everyone needs to come here. The food is life-changing. Not a single downside to our visit. And to whoever commented on the music choice, we personally thought it was awesome and suited an upbeat, romantic vibe.
Always the best food you can get. I love it. A bit expensive but it's worth the tasted.
If you LOVE Indonesian Cuisine, this is the place for you. If you LOVE imaginative dishes served in a fun environment, you will LOVE BW. This has been my go-to place when ever I want a special treat. Their website is worth a look with a photo album that is amazing. Every meal that I have ever had at BW has been fantastic. The taste and presentation would rival the best restaurants that I have been to anywhere in the world. Be sure to make a reservation, as they are very popular and fill up quick. In the summer, their patio is a little piece of heaven near the University in Waterloo.
4 years ago I gave this restaurant 5/5. Unfortunately as time has gone by and countless dinners here at this place and thousands of dollars being spent here the service has continually gotten horrendous and my most recent dinner will be my last at bhimas as well as any other restaurant owned by the owner Paul. From the servers attitudes being atrocious and rude. Service was not up to par by any means and the food being served both its taste and quality have been declining year by year and this dinner was the last straw - when you lay a bill close to 800$ each time there is a set expectation that should be meet, yet bhimas as a whole has failed on this account several times. Both at the service level and the management level. The server we had came around to us maybe 4 times over the course of 3 hours ? Okay fine we’ll deal with that, yet the food comes out mediocre from the last times we’ve been - because they were closing ? We made the reservation a few days in advance and they were aware. But the most frustrating thing was at the end of the service we pay our bills, my sisters choose to pay with credit and tip with cash and the waiter looks at just the receipt and YELLS at my sisters about the lack of tip.. but if he took 5 seconds to look at the table he would see his tip there and some. Mind you I personally tipped well above what was expected nonetheless the disrespectful stride persists. So of course I send an email to the owner, his response: absurd and really “too bad” “pandemic stresses us out”. All I can say is horrible excuse - if anything the pandemic should make you shine in both service and customer relations yet this was not the case. 1/5 if I could give 0 I would. From a gem in the Waterloo region to a dud.
It's a Satanic restaurent. Christians should not go there. They play demonic music, the place has 666 written on the wall outside and it'll creep you out as you step inside. They hang all sorts of statues and pictures of demons/ mini gods inside. As for the food... If you don't mind the atmosphere in there as you first step in, I'm sure the food won't be so bad.
Literally the best food I have ever had! They always have amazing specials, you must listen to those! And get the Goi Thai, its amazing! It's a little pricy but always worth it!
First time going. My wife and I had the Singapore five course meal. It was the best food of my life !!! We truly felt like we were there on vaction!!! We will be back for every new sampler this summer!!!!
They have a vegetarian/vegan menu but you must request it. I did have them put egg in a vegan order one time by accident and try were quite apologetic and did not charge. Food and service were good enough to come back again despite that. My second visit was perfect. They will make items gluten-free. Food is delicious and portions are large even for appetizers. A nice place for a romantic dinner or a nice meal out with friends and family.
Food was excellent. Great tastes and large servings. The service was crazy slow. Even by Canadian standards.
blend and overcooked. service was terrible as well, I heard waitress say that the cook was unvaxxed. \\\
From the outside it looks dingy, but its well decorated inside. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable. Food is definitely pricey, but well worth it. Especially great for vegetarians as they have their own designated menu.
Bhima's ruined our Mothers Day dinner! We ordered and payed online at 4pm for 6:15pm pickup and on my way there, at 6:05pm, I get a call saying that due to a computer error our order wouldn't be ready until 8:30pm. Wayy to late! No apologies or attempt take any responsibility. Just blaming the computer for everything and then hung up the phone. We had to call back to ask for and get our refund. For a restaurant that prides themselves on their quality of food their service need some serious attention. Get it together Bhima's, this is unacceptable behavior!
