Friendly staff and decent food create a spot that only true locals really know about. Worth the stop for some fish and chips or onion rings while waiting for the ferry. Just as good as Dick's on the other side!

Happy that the Wild Horses is slowly coming back to it's old self. The chicken could use improvement, as it was mostly batter, but the fries, fish and gravy were absolutely delicious. I'll be back!

We just came to have something and a couple of beers but unfortunately she didn’t tell us the closing time and she had never taken last order. They closed the kitchen at 7.40 pm. It is a basic service courtesy to take the last order and tell the customer about closing time.

The food was predicable and reliable Newfoundland fast food fare. The home made fries were excellent and the cod au gratin was very well done and straightforward. The chowder was among the best with bits of lobster raising eyebrows and taste buds.

This place is a favourite of ours. We come out several times a year for the great Fish and Chips and the amazing sunset over the ocean in Portugal Cove. If you come from away, this little diner is a must visit. Be sure to go around 6 so you don't miss the sun's light show. It is awesome.

Should try to vary the menus by offering, why not, a slightly more refined cuisine, that would change hamburgers, fries, fish and chips etc. The owners have just changed recently. Result: children prohibited on the sea view side, because of the bar, and alcohol prohibited on the side where children are allowed (not even a beer ...). We will not be coming back, although we were regulars. (Original) Très bel endroit, beaucoup de potentiel. Devrait essayer de varier les menus en proposant, pourquoi pas, une cuisine un peu plus rafinée, ça changerait des hamburgers, frites, fish and chips etc. Les propriétaires viennent de changer récemment. Résultat : enfants interdits côté vue mer, à cause du bar, et alcool interdit du côté où les enfants sont autorisés (même pas une bière...). Nous ne reviendrons plus, alors que nous étions des habitués.

After several owners and changes of management, the Eatery has a new ambiance and flavor. The stand up menu is good with local fare well featured. The vista overlooking the historic Portugal Cove Harbour with the ever dominating presence of Bell Island across the tickle.., is a can't miss. The bar area offesr a quiet place to have a cold one while waiting for the ferry crossing. Fully Licensed with VLT's.

I'm from San Francisco and I would travel over 3000 miles to get their fish and chips. If you're ever in Napa valley CA ... Look me up. I'll take you to The French Laundry restaurant. Dinner for two..$1,200 but you won't get any better fish and chips than Wild Horses Pub

Worst fish and chips I ever eat. The only thing this place has going for it is the view of bell island, which is probably the only reason the place stays open. Bagged french fries, canned gravy, a staff that lies about the freshness of the overpriced food and the attitude of the front counter staff made my visit the first and the last. Do yourself a favor, if you want good HOMEMADE food go to "By the Beach" and avoid this greasy spoon.
