Great sophisticated atmosphere and the best steak I think I've ever had. Had the surf and turf with tea, low quality lipton so I wouldn't recommend ordering tea here, and the Boston pie, which is an unexpected large slice of ice cream cake. The lobster was a bit small and dry, but the steak was great. The servers seem friendly and laid back.

Very formal restaurant, had to wait a bit to get inside but it was worth it!!! My husband is a carnivore and I am vegan and they satisfied both us! Our server Jay-Lynn was very friendly, always making sure everything was correct! They kitchen put some aioli that wasn’t vegan on my burger and he informed me that he it already sent back for them to make me a new one. Great drinks, delicious food and awesome service!!

As is typical for the franchise, this restaurant has excellent food and atmosphere. The upper level is right next to the kitchen and gets excellent service and attentive service. Great for a treat out, it is fairly expensive at around $30 a plate. An awesome view of downtown Victoria on the west side of the building.

We chose this Keg over the Quadra location because of the view of Victoria Harbour from a window seat. It’s so entertaining to sit and watch the buzzing harbour activity, and thankfully there are no TVs and blaring music. The service was faultless, but the food was unfortunately so-so. I had the sirloin and lobster, and it came topped with a spicy chutney which competed with the flavour of the steak. There were two meagre pieces of lobster on top. For the price I was expecting more. In retrospect I should have chosen a plain steak like my husband did. But being from Texas, he was also underwhelmed by the flavour of his steak. Our son liked his ribs, saying the meat was good as well as the barbecue sauce. The vegetable accompaniments were rather bland steamed asparagus and roasted red pepper. I would have appreciated more of a medley, with some discernible seasoning. We don’t eat steak very often, but when we do we want it to hit all the right notes. Unfortunately I can’t say the food here warrants the price.

Keg have many restaurant around Canada. This restaurant is in a historic building with a special fell. It is popular here, you can see the sea from the windows. The food is tasty and doing well!

Service was obviously forced, forgot the drink menu for the table, had to return to tell us they didn't have any of the beer we ordered and didn't have the dish I ordered, forgot the side of gnocchi for my partner's dish, and the food was cold after waiting for an hour. The Keg in other cities has been OK, but this one was extremely disappointing. For what you pay, not worth it at all.

Love the prime rib at the keg. Pretty much the only dish I order. The billy miner pie for dessert is also amazing! The one in Victoria usually also has some craft beer on tap. Ask for the 3 cheese butter for the bread, it’s a hidden secret, but absolutely delicious. The downtown Victoria one has a great view if you a booth by the window upstairs. Seasonal cocktails also help shake up the drink menu.

I ate here last night with mixed results. The staff was very friendly and helpful. As I was dinning alone I chose to set in the lounge. I ordered my usual pre-dinner cocktail - a White Russian. The waitress asked me if I wanted a double and I said no. Unfortunately, I did not know that “double” in Canadian must mean “with alcohol” as I was basically served a glass of milk. I don’t believe there was any vodka or kahlua in it. And it had a cherry. I like cherries, but I’ve never had a White Russian with one. Next, I ordered the tuna tartar for the appetizer. It was wonderful! There was a large mound of very fresh and flavorful tuna atop another mound of perfectly ripened avocado. The whole thing tasted delicious. Unfortunately, they brought my entree out before I was done with the appetizer. I find this to be very unprofessional. For the entree, I order the 8oz sirloin with the lobster and Asiago cheese topping. The waitress explained to me that the lobster and cheese was placed on top of the steak and then melted under a broiler. When it arrived at the table, the lobster and cheese was just sprinkled on top and not melted. I asked the waitress if this was correct and she said “no, it should be melted.” She offered to take it back, but I said no. I’ve worked in enough restaurants to know you never send anything back. Anyway, the steak itself was very good. I ordered it medium-rare and it was cooked perfectly. And, other than a large strip of gristle along one side of the meat, it tasted delicious. Also, the loaded baked potato was very good. A large potato with a generous portion of butter, sour cream, and bacon. However, the green beans that came with it were actually cold. So, as I said, it was a dinner with mixed results. While the good parts of the dinner were very good, there are enough bad parts to make the meal overall unpleasant. All things considered, I do not believe I will eat here again.

My husband ordered a Sirloin Steak with baked potato. I could see that he was not really enjoying it and I could also see large pieces of fat that he had cut off the sides of the meat. I wish that we had sent it back but my husband was not comfortable doing so. Very dissapointing!!!! I had the blackened chicken oscar. Was delicious. and our server was most helpful and attentive. I hope that my comments help to improve the quality of your meals. A two rating because the chef dishing up that steak should have known better.

The food wasn't quite as I remember from back in the day. The salad was "meh", no choice of dressing and the dressing that was there was almost nonexistent. My prime rib was bland and it was cold-ish when it arrived. Service was spotty, but I understand that a party of 55 arrived right after us, so it's forgivable. The staff were quite friendly and accommodating, though. If there was a separate rating for them, I'd probably give them five stars.

Great location, burger was raw, sent it back took 20 min to get a new one. They bring in frozen crab and lobster, What??? They are on the harbour. Your telling me they can't find any local vendors to supply fresh crab?

I just love it here! Out of all the times I have been here my steak was over cooked once. Staff are very friendly and attentive. I would strongly suggest making a reservation as this location can get quite busy. The one thing that I don't like about The Keg and that is the so called cheese cake. It certainly is not cheese cake by my standards. It taste fake and just not good.

What a disappointing experience. We ordered from the Dine Victoria menu. Our appetizer arrived before our bread. Our entrée arrived before we had finished our appetizer. I ordered a baked potato with no green onions, and I requested my steak medium well. There were onions on my potato. My steak was still bleeding, and the bacon around it was burned beyond recognition. They offered to throw my steak back on the grill (which would have resulted in tough steak, and the rest of my party would have finished before me). I asked for a new piece of bacon since mine was inedible. They brought me a new piece which was barely cooked. We ordered a piece of the ice cream pie for dessert. When it arrived it had very clear finger prints in the sides, where someone had clearly lifted it by hand. Because we had ordered from a fixed prix menu, management did very little to adjust our bill. I was not at all pleased with our experience and would not likely return to that location.

Nice environment and kind staff. Went two times recently, first time, my food was delicious however my husband's food was burnt and made him sick. Second time I went with my sister and some friends, they messed up on 2 of our dishes. A quarter of my steak was burnt and instead of just having asparagus on my plate with my steak which I asked for, they gave me lots of vegetables and the asparagus was cut up. Plus it was 1 piece of asparagus when I asked for only asparagus. I am quite upset as I did complain and the waiter didnt take anything off the bill.

Food was great although it seems to be getting much more pricey for what you get. I literally had a chunk of steak that was no more than 3 bites and one leg of king crab for $49. Now, I love the Keg or I really used to because of the quality. Prices need to come down if I'm ever to go back there. $210 meal for 2 adults and one child is a bit too much.

Not cheap at all, quite the opposite of cheap to be honest but worth every cent spent. If you love a good steak, with a nice selection of vine, this is without any doubt the place to go. I prefer the seats upstairs, the ones with the ocean view. Also whatever you do, don't get the fries. Everything else is amazing, including the service but the fries are the McDonalds kind.

Disappointing experience. Prime rib was luke warm and bland. Front door staff watched wheelchair user struggle up front door steps when there was a disablility-friendly entrance 10 feet away. Quoted 2 hr time block when reserving, but then downgraded to 1.5 hrs when seated. Not a well-oiled machine.

I find that the meals arrive very quickly latley. I barely finish the appy, and sometimes not, when the main arrives. Other than that it's always a treat to go to Keg. This location is really relaxing and nice. Food is typically great. There was an issue with one of our meals this evening and they took care of it better than anyone expected. Amazing service by any restaurant standards!

We had our Vaccines card and photo copy of ID on our phone. They still need a physical ID to enter the restaurant? They told me it’s like a liquor store they need a real ID. I mean come on?? The purpose is to see if people are vaccinated or not. Not to track on people? And the copy is a photo ID too. Ridiculous. Go check the rules on BC restrictions yourself, manager. Was my favorite restaurant before. Not any more. The management is awful.

Went to the Keg last night for dinner. The service was awesome, the young lady we had for our waitress was great. Problem was when our food arrived it was cold. The steak, the potatoes and veggies. She took it & brought it back heated but definitely affected the freshness and flavors. I know our bill was only $100.00 but not even much of an apology. We were only in town for the night so no worry about returning here.

Had a great time at the Keg. Food was ok but may have sat too long in the pass. Filet and potato were hot but the veg were cold. The steak was undercooked but it was good enough for me. I didn’t want to send my meal back. Ate the filet and potato but left the cold veg untouched on plate (minus one bite) My wife enjoyed the ribs Our server, Kara, was amazing and went above and beyond to make our meal and time at the Keg great. Oh btw ... the creme brûlée was so damn good I ordered two. Could easily be 4 stars or better Kara was 5 stars

It's the keg! I had a filet with Cajun shrimp. The filet was cooked a perfect rare, nice seasoning. The shrimp were swimming in some terrible sauce. Staff is friendly, fast, attentive.

Famous for the steak quality! Did not disappoint! The ' Baseball' cut was cooked to perfection for my taste! Food is great. The unnecessarily scantily clad 'hostesses' took away from the pleasure of the restaurant. Seriously a number of them were 'posed' at the front of the restaurant. Why are some of the women working there being relegated to eye candy at this restaurant?

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. went to eat here for my friends birthday and there was a hair cooked into my friends food. the waiter tried to charge her for it. then while we waited for the manager to come a rodent was running around so i told an employee, he went to go get the manager. also we were on the top floor, which is where the kitchen is so i find that very disgusting. we waited for more than 10 minutes and it started to run towards us. there were frightened children at our table who were almost in tears. so we waited outside for about 10-15 minutes waiting for someone to come out, two people walked up and the hostess came out and looked at us, rolled her eyes and said oh they are just leaving!. it was very disrespectful so we left. after that they followed my friend to her car a block away and demanded she paid and would not let her or her children into their car. the staff member who was outside harassing my friend allowed a stranger to join in on the problem and that person started to scream at my friend while they blocked her from her car. thankfully two of our friends from dinner came to her rescue and demanded they leave her alone. I cannot believe how horribly the staff handled this. I will never come to this location ever again.

Absolutely loved it here. 4.5 stars. The location is great and luckily they had available parking up the block (prices are a rip off). This is the peppercorn steak and it was soft and flavourful and delicious. The baked potato seemed like they injected it with butter, it was so creamy and well cooked. I also got side of scallops and shrimp. Scallop was a little overcooked, but barely and there little dip...delicious. Will come back again and again.

Yum! Morgan was our server and she was amazing! Had a reservation here for 530- yes we eat early and by the time we finished at 7 the place was PACKED! I got the baseball - medium rare so, so good. Mom had the prime rib - medium - med it was definitely tasty but nothing mind blowing Aunt M had the rib steak-bone in - yummmmmyyyyyy medium rare of course We finished off with a mini brownie and creme brûlée which definitely could’ve been skipped. Gorgeous place, had a window seat with a nice view that was destroyed mid meal because the sun was in some guests eyes so they pulled th blinds. Oh well. I’d DEFINITELY come back (and wow food was cheap-yeah I come from LA- it was so so good)

Had a really great meal last night! Our waiter was incredibly knowledgable and helpful. The food was amazingly good. The Steak Oscar my son ordered looked delicious and he loved it. My husband and I had the prime rib which was huge, amazingly tender and flavorful. The horseradish is really fresh and very potent...we loved it. Got the large creme brule for desert and it was so good and my son's brownie sundae was huge and confirmed to be yummy!! Great atmosphere, great meal out for our family!

Friendly and attentive staff, nice atmosphere. Service was fast and even wehile the place was incredibly busy. While I'm not the biggest steak person in the world, but I quite enjoyed the Mignon Oscar. The steak was delicious and the asparagus very tender. It was expensive, but you get what you pay for. The portions were a good medium size - nothing crazy - but if you are a voracious diner you may want to grab a side salad. The side salads are HUGE and could nearly be meal in and of themselves. Good wine selection with creative and funny names. Hou will likely get out of here paying about $50 per person with a couple drinks each.

Me and the wife were really looking forward to our first restaurant excursion since the pandemic began, unfortunately our night started with dirty water glasses with lip prints on my glass. Sam, our server was very apologetic and brought us some fresh glasses. Appys were good, I had the baked shrimp, wife had the cheese toast, tasted great. Dinner was peppercorn new York and steak and half lobster, both delicious, steaks cooked perfectly but wasn't as flavourful as I was hoping, dunno about that, could just be me. My dessert was the Billy miner pie with a garlic crouton mixed in with my almonds, my concern being that if a crouton could get in my almonds than an almond could get into somebody's salad and heaven forbid they have an allergy. Finished off the night with my favorite after dinner drink, a nice negroni that I drank 70% of before noticing a fat fly chilling at the bottom of the glass. The service was a little slow but with the current labour situation that's understandable. Sam was great,very polite and respectful of our space, even cracked the wife's lobster for her which was nice and after explaining the errors he took the drink and desserts off the bill. Overall it was nice to get out but we'll probably pass on the Keg for the foreseeable future, at least until the labour situation gets sorted so the restaurant can get the help it needs to tighten things up a bit.

WAY over priced crab.. paid $24 for all that crab you see in the picture as well as they forgot to place my crab order so they comped it which was nice expect for it also was only a single leg.. will definitely stick to nautical Nellie's for crab and steak nights.

Our server was extreamly knowledgeable about Wine pairing with our meal, as well as all the cuts of meat available. The french onion soup was perfect for warming my soul on the beautiful snowy night over looking the harbour. The Tuna Tartare was very memorable, as it was the best ever had by my date and they will be definitely going back again for it. The Steak Special was so juicy flavourful and tender. The Veggy burger however was just okay and a little dry. But I will never hold it against the Keg as they specialize in amazing steak meals.

I had made a reservation for my SO and I on January 24th for February 13th, I didn't request a window seat but I guess I thought since it was made far in advance we would get something better than a booth in the back right by the servers station. I had called and said we might be 15 minutes late because of the snow and was immediately told that it wouldn't extend our 1.5 hours we had alloted to dine, I understand that it's covid and that makes sense. We ended up arriving right when our reservation time was, I spoke with the host outside the door and let her know my name and the time of our reservation, then another party arrived for their reservation, which I had overheard was 15 minutes later than ours. The host didn't acknowledge me after I had told her my name and reservation time and then let in the party that had a reservation time after us, which kind of surprised me. We were then let in and seated and told the special. The server took our order, when it arrived a portion had been missed and we weren't given steak knives. The server did not come around and ask us if we would like another drink, my SO's glass had been empty for 10 minutes while we sat there trying to flag the server down. The food was good, but overall the experience was lower than I expected.

Went for dinner on Dec 29/19, group of 5. Although the kitchen was very slow that night, our server was very attentive and did everything she could to make our experience a good one - without us making any complaint about the slowness - she took it upon herself to acknowledge that they were behind. Entrees ranged from Sirloin Oscar, prime rib, and teriyaki steak, to a Keg Burger and Garden Burger. Everything was tasty and well prepared (after having to return the Teriyaki for being under-done, but this was corrected impressively quickly). Creme Brulee was divine. Due to the efforts of our server and the quality of the food once received, we would absolutely return.

We've been a couple of times before and they're pretty consistent but we went again on Saturday evening and it was pretty bad. My wife ordered a steak and after I ordered, changed her mind and asked for something different. He acknowledged her change and we waited for the food. While waiting we realized that he had bit asked is what we want for a side so we tracked him down to tell him what we wanted. When it arrived, they had made her the first dish that we had canceled. The server came by and seemed annoyed at us though we were clear about the change as he acknowledged it at the time. When they brought the food back, mine was cold as though it had been placed on the counter while they made my wife's dish. Pretty disappointing for a $100 dinner.

FIrst was too raw (didn't order 'super rare' or 'blue' etc.) second was just under medium rare, crappy little fries like out a frozen foods bag, crappy grade wine $8+ a glass etc. Google the menu's of it, Zambri's or, better food again, Il Terrazzo. My fiancee and I went there on Friday night after not really going anywhere during the current world situation and everything being closed. Our server was good but the keg classic dinners we received really lacked any presentation or any flavor. For $35.00+ each we were hoping for more. We started with the bread (which was great) and got the caesar salads which were primarily the inside of the heads. Our dinner arrived (one rare, one medium rare) and they were delivered to the wrong person. The plates contained the steak, garlic mashed potatoes and 1/2 of a fried tomato with cheese(?) on it. It was really just slapped on the plate. I started my steak and noticed it was the more rare of the 2 so I switched. My fiancee's steak ended up being not bad but it turned out the one I gave her was 75% gristle. We ended up sending most of both plates back, thankful we had all that bread. In the end we notified our server who talked to the manager and gave us the "staff price" for the meal and some free creme brule for dessert. I can honestly say, with all the choices in Victoria, that we will not be going back, ever. It's a real drag because the Keg used to be one of my favs but in the last year I actually think Cactus Club had our favorite steaks.

Food was good and surroundings are better than many competitors. The Keg has come a long way from it's beginnings. One thing that hasn't changed is Management's focus on the wait staff being so "friendly" that they become a nuisance. From the starting "How were all your days?", the regular interruptions without regard to the diners' conversations and privacy was really annoying. I thought our waiter was going to pull up a chair while he kept up the conversation with comments on our replies! Way over the top. Be prepared to make a new "friend" at the Keg.

When I go to The Keg I expect consistently decent service and food. This location excelled in the service but was lacking in the food. I ordered an Amaretto Sour which is always delicious. French onion soup, butter shrimp and escargot were fine. Calamari was very under seasoned and I was quite disappointed. Had the lobster and steak for the main - lobster was perfectly cooked but steak was again very under seasoned, had no flavour and was not tender at all. This was a bit shocking to me, considering it's supposed to be a steakhouse. Overall, pleasant experience; our server was the star. Food was mediocre at best so likely won't be returning. I would opt for one of the pubs that are along water instead.

I've been a long time fan of the Keg restaurants around Seattle, but the last several years they have gone down in quality. So it was so great to find one here in Victoria that was as good as they used to be. Service was attentive and totally focused on our needs. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and not over loaded with fat. The extras - mushrooms, wedge salad, baked potato and vegetables were properly cooked and included. So glad we decided not to go to the sushi place. Made our trip to Victoria just that much better.

Our steaks were great and the waitress was friendly. They got my drink order wrong and the food did take a while to arrive as the restaraunt was heavily packed. This was understandable given the crowd. A reservation is a must, while we expected to wait not having made a reservation, we were a little surprised to see walk in tables of 5 that arrived after us getting seated ahead of our 2. Due to the long wait we got nervous and asked to make sure we were still in the line up to be seated.

Had a fantastic experience with my friends at The Keg. We booked a reservation just after 1 PM, for 7:30 PM later the same day. We arrived at 7:30 and got a booth by the windows overlooking the harbour, just as we requested! I was first of all impressed about this. The food was absolutely amazing. The steak tasted phenomenal, and the Caesar salad was next-level. Our server was very friendly and was constantly attentive to our table, taking away dishes and bringing refills every few minutes it seemed like; this level of service is rare and something I have not experienced at other restaurants. My friends and I overall had a really great time. We enjoyed the food very much and loved getting to watch the sunset right from our table! I would highly recommend The Keg to anyone looking for a great meal in the heart of Victoria.

The baked potatoes were perfect as well....a nice crispy outside with a soft creamy inside (harder to achieve based on many restaurants I've been to). Nice veggies and bread and our server was fantastic. Checked on us often, but not invasively. We had a lovely window table with a view of the harbour. Only 2 downsides. Our room seemed to be filled with families with noisy children, dressed in shorts and t-shirts while we were celebrating an anniversary dressed up for the occassion. They should really have a separate room for families just walking in off the street and couples who reserve for a special occassion. Prices are fairly high, which I wouldn't mind if I didn't feel like I was overdressed in a Chucky Cheese. Also...the restaurant could use a bit of a refurb or at least a good cleaning. Service and food were A+ though.

We visit Keg quite often (Coquitlam location) and we love it. Eveything was great except mash potato was a bit off and steaks weren't really cooked the way we wanted them. As I said we go to Keg all the time and it was simply not the taste we are used to. They did offer a complimentary dessert to make up for it. Regardless it is a great place.

Service is a bit slow, and for a steakhouse, steak should be perfect! Nice cuts but last two times I've been it's been rare and I'm a medium. Not alot of selection for appies, no share plates and recently they got rid of half price appies after 9 which was their only special other than feature drinks. As a vegan, I would not have expected the Keg to be a good choice. Attended a friend's birthday dinner and am completely floored by both the quality of vegan options and the attentiveness of the kind and helpful staff. I had an excellent salad, bread with dipping oil and balsamic, specially prepared mushrooms, asparagus and a baked potato. A cauliflower steak was less impressive but very beautiful. The staff arranged a special vegan cake as a surprise for us which we had not requested. We were so pleased and meat eaters, ketos and vegans all had a lovely time.

The “Keg” Fries were worse than McDonalds and the steak itself was just ok – I have cooked better steaks myself and I am not even good at cooking. The ambiance and the service were just ok as well. Never had a bad experience! Husband and I went there last week and we found something in his salad that didn't belong. We told our server, the salad was taken away with a very polite apology, and we thought that was it. About 5 minutes later, the manager of the restaurant comes to our table to apologize, clears the salad from our bill, and offers us free dessert! Excellent service every time we visit!

Used to love this restaurant back when I was a meat eater. Went there recently with some family and was quite disappointed with the lack of vegetarian options. I know, its a Steakhouse, but at least offer something other than crispy or grilled cauliflower please. Didnt even have the standard veggie burger that most places will offer. Dined for dinner lastnight , again i find my self asking why i bother going there . The steak was absoulety terrible . I had it cooked medium and it was so hard to cut , like struggled to get my knife through it being it was indeed cooked medium , a quality steak should cut smooth ..not lastnight, It was terrible . Also my wife had chicken without sauce on top and it was so salty , not sure if they have new cooks or what but for the prices they charge this is beyond dissapointing. I feel like i could go to a dennys and honestly have a better steak.. People should save there money and go to a good local restaurant that serves quality food.

Great food and a great atmosphere - just like any Keg restaurant. As the restaurant itself is bi-level, you can get a good view of the Harbour and Parliament Buildings if you request a window table on the second floor. Beware there is only paid street parking and a paid parking lot nearby as the restaurant doesn’t offer designated, free parking. Nearby hotels can provide drop-off shuttle service (if offered) and cabs are waiting outside the restaurant almost always.

This is my favourite Keg. Went there for my birthday dinner and they did not disappoint. Their prime rib is always delicious, but they can sell out so go early. We opted for the blue cheese steak instead, and it just melted in our mouths. The views are beautiful, overlooking the harbour. Highly recommended steakhouse.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! EVER!! They have the most overpriced and horrible food here, as well as a terrible service, according to my friend who asked me to write the review for him since he doesn't understand English well. The food were mostly bland and left a bad aftertaste hours in him. Heck even in Thailand where he's from, food tastes 10x better while costing 10x less. Not to mention he's not used to the cold and the staff refused to turn down the AC for him even when he asked twice.

Last minute drop in for dinner at 8 pm. They close at 9 pm They were welcoming and gave us a lovely booth by the window. Bacon wrapped scallops and cheese toast were fabulous. Prime rib medium rare was perfect with twice baked potatoes, Ceasar salad & mushrooms delicious. Cutlery was dirty. The waiter apologized, quickly replaced it and gave us free dessert! Excellent service & we weren't rushed. Last to leave. A++

We recently had a feast with family at the Keg and everyone was satisfied with their appetizers, mains and desserts. I love the new small dessert portions they offer (a secondary menu to the main dessert menu). After such a big meal you don't always want a large dessert, just something small and sweet.

I went to The Keg on November 23rd for my birthday with my fiancée, and it was a wonderful experience! We were seated at an upstairs booth overlooking Victoria Harbour. Our server was Eric, and he did a fantastic job at making sure we felt taken care of. Our water was topped up regularly, and he came by to check up on us in perfect intervals - the best part - we never felt rushed! His wine recommendation was spot on, and exactly what we were looking for. The food was very delicious, as it always is at The Keg. We had the Mushrooms Neptune, the Heirloom Tomato + Burrata salad and for the mains, we had the Pistachio Crusted Salmon and the Pan-Seared Arctic Char. They even offered dessert on the house, which was a stunning Cheesecake. I totally recommend The Keg on Fort Street for a casual, yet fine dining experience.

I loved the food here! My husband said he'd only give 4 stars, but I'm writing this review, so 5 it is! Service was excellent, staff friendly and knowledgeable, but I went for the food. I'm on a specific diet and was pleased that there were vegetable options beyond potatoes and salad. I ordered the parmesan crusted halibut with mashed cauliflower, asparagus and blistered tomatoes. Sounds basic, but I'm still living in the after glow of such a well put together and flavorful meal. I'll leave it at that because words won't do it justice. My husband ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms. He said the potatoes were good, but the prime rib was lacking flavor. It could have used more of a rub. He did enjoy the spirit of the horseradish though. In all, we had a delightful meal and recommend this place to anyone who has a chance to go. Be prepared to pay a little more, but that seems to be the norm here in Victoria, the difference being this was actually worth it.

Finally the waitress said oh , can I bring your salads and entrees right now? Like no .the waitress only kept asking if I wanted another wine even though I had a full glass. Came for a family reunion, very pleasant experience. Spacious dining room with 2 levels. Servers were abundant and prompt. Can't think of a time when I go to The Keg and don't have great service. Only negative was the lobster that was being featured wasn't tasty at all. Server said it was fresh but I'm not a lobster expert and knew it was probably frozen for a while. Texture was a bit off and the meat was really difficult to get at but tasted otherwise fine. Overall happy we chose to go to The Keg. Prices are slightly high but worth it for great service.

I’ve been to the Keg in Vancouver before so I know that bread is served before the meal (actually, most similar restaurants serve bread before the meal, right?). But, we were not served bread even though our meal was over. So I asked the server, “Don’t you guys serve bread before the meal?” He said “Totally! Why? Do you want it now?” This was when we FINISHED the meal, so we said “No, we’re good.” Then He said “Then why did you ask?” WHY DID I ASK??? Is it really not clear why I asked? Is bread only served when customers ask for it? Then, the WHITE COUPLE next to our table got bread because they asked for it? We were very angry not just because of the bread, but because of the ATTITUDE of the server. He did not apologize to us at all. This was the worst day/restaurant/service I’ve had in Victoria, ever.

Have been there couple times and the food was great. Our waitress is so sweet and patient. However, after we finished our meal we saw a mouse underneath the table across from us. The waitress kept apologizing and got us the manager. Instead of apologizing, the manager said they have rodent control twice a week and we dont need to worry about it. It makes me doubt if there are any mice in the kitchen… Hope we dont get sick from the food. Oh by the way, there were no discounts or anything being offered to us. I have been going to the Keg for special occasion dinners since 2001 ... Probably average 2x/year. I love their prime rib .... It is always very good. Tonight with my brother. As always we start with the French Onion soup, always piping hot, and tasty. Then a rare change on my selection tonight - I followed my brothers lead, and had the special ... The Kansas City steak, it was the daily feature, a nice big 18 oz, bone in, for 45$. Ordered the daily vegetables, as the side, and an extra side of garlic mashed potatoes. A "minor" downside ...no gravy for the mashed potatoes ... So "au jus" was substituted. Veggies hot and crunchy, steak cooked perfectly, tasted wonderful I had a Guinness because the selection of beers, and ciders was so uninspiring. I frequently lament (at many of our local establishments) the very limited support for our very talented local artisans and their ciders, beers, wines, spirits - many seasonal specialties, and many local products are near world class, high achievers in international competitions! At a facility so close to the center of Island tourism, and a favorite stopping point for international cruise ship visitors and other tourists, it is a shame the local talent is not represented. It could be seen as collaborative tourism promotion, patrons would have their first introduction to other interesting, fun sites to visit, and learn more about our wonderful capital. For the lack of local support of our abundant boutique beverage providers ... I took away a star. It won't keep me from coming back ...

Bread still good, three cheese butter still bomb, service still excellent. But our steaks were bland and over cooked, side vegetables were a joke and even the beloved twice baked potato was a shadow of its former glory. Still unsatisfied we ventured further into dessert. The Kegg is the first place in Canada that I really loved. It has a very intimate atmosphere, I felt very comfy. The food was delicious. A quality experience every time. We ordered the calamari to start with the filet mignon, side veg and the baby back ribs and fries. Calamari was good. Just the right amount of crispness and the breaded jalapeños gave it some heat. For plate size it was just the right amount. Filet mignon came with mashed potatoes, a baked tomato and the side veg. The au jus was good, but overpowered the meat’s flavour. It was served on the side though so you can control it. With that, the creamy body of the sauce played well with the filet and the mashed potatoes were delicious. Baby back ribs were cooked well. Tender and seared just right. I wasn’t a huge fan of the BBQ sauce they grilled the meat with. Wasn’t bad, it just didn’t add anything special. But the ribs are very good and well prepared. The side roasted corn salad was a bit of the same. Good in concept but I found the roasted charred flavour of the corn was overpowered by the mayo-esque sauce. Might have been better with an acid? Even still, you won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for a quality experience you can count on every time Zinfandel by the glass that I ordered was spicy with good body and plum on the nose. Service was great. You can expect top quality from the keg :)

I had the special, a 10oz medium prime rib steak, alongside a pacific alaskan crab cluster also tuna tacos. Taco's had a sweet and tangy taste to it, and it was great. The steak was ok....., and rather hard to chew through and was not worth the ~$30 it was priced at. The crab was great, possibly the best part of the meal. It was slightly sweet, and was lightly seasoned, but beware eating is crab quite a bit of work. Given that the keg is a steakhouse, the steak was not the star of the show, and is definitely not worth the money I paid for it. Service was great.

Amazing food and amazing service. Even with social distancing and everything, they made the meal really special and delicious. I got the filet mignon and vegetable gnocchi. It was amazing!

This was a very dissapointing dining experience. I'll start with the good... The hairloom tomato and Burrata salad was very tasty and refreshing. And the bread that start you with is very good. Our waiter was also very friendly but that's where the good stops. We both ordered steaks that came out cold and overcooked for the temperature we ordered then in. I added Herb Butter to mine and when the plate was set down in front of me the butter was still in a solid form which should have been a red flag. The "sauteed" brussel sprouts side were inedible. It's a steakhouse then the steaks should be one of the best things on the menu. There is another location in Vancouver for this place so I guess they are more "chain" restaurant and it shows. The menu items are not cheap and when we are paying those prices for a meal it should be good or at least decent. I don't usually complain to the waiter or management about my meal but this time it was nessicary, if even just for the kitchen to know that they are putting out lower quality product then thier menu prices and atmosphere would suggest.

It was my birthday dinner, we came from Vancouver and always know the keg is an amazing restaurant. Every single keg that I have been to they serve bread at first, no bread was given. Our appetizers were good, scallop bacon wrapped and garlic shrimp. Ceaser salad, no complaints. I ordered the blue cheese bacon wrapped medium rare, the steak was okay, the vegetables were extremely greasy. My fiancé’s steak was over cooked for medium rare, he politely asked for the waiter to fix it, he waited 30 mins and they gave a new steak almost raw.... I’m giving this a one star because the server was good, but not sure what was happening with the cook. We left back for our hotel, my fiancé not having any dinner. Maybe some training needs to be given to the cook? Very disappointed in this location. Will never be returning on our next visit to Victoria.

Dirty table, green floaties in our waters, open the napkins to find crumbs and over cooked steaks x2. Oh and when we purchased 2x$25 and 1x $50 gift card, the $50 came up as in valid. Trust me when I say it is worth the trip to go to the Saanich location over Fort. The Fort street location's cleanliness, service and food is a complete nightmare. What a shame.

Went by to place an order to go. Hardly anyone in the restaurant, but the hostess said the manager was too busy to come take my order and I should do it online. I just wanted a nice steak. I filled out my order and no option to pay with debit or cash. I guess this Keg didn't lose any business during covid. Absolutely horrible

Excellent dining experience; fine food, nice location, good service. Happy! Located on Wharf Street next to the Inner Harbour, the Keg on Fort Street is in an unassuming building with preserved facade. I was very surprised to find it has a second floor (where the kitchen is located) plus extensive seating on two levels. FYI washrooms are only available on the first (ground) floor. If you want a seat overlooking the harbour then I definitely recommend making a reservation. There is also outdoor seating available, weather permitting. Don't fill up on the individual warmed bread loaf and butter! Serving sizes for appetizer and entree are substantial. Escargot ($12) was succulent, very hot temperature-wise - had to wait for it to cool down - not too garlicky, with bread for dipping. Red Sangria ($8) helped cope with the heat. Beverage was OK, not much fruit but perhaps this is a seasonal issue. The Sirloin Oscar ($39) was done to perfection, the shrimp, scallops, and bearnaise sauce a good accompaniment without overwhelming the steak. Also, not a lot of sodium in the dish which I appreciated. Good, clear COVID-protocals in place. Hosts, servers, other staff professional, informative without obsequiousness. An overall good dining experience. Expect to pay $75+ per person (counting alcoholic beverages) for great - great - night out. No alcohol: $60/person. I recommend making reservations. Good dining experience. Worth it.

Steak was cold tries to give us out main meal when we just started our appy. Manager came out and said we would get re-cooked meals because they were at fault but as i said steak was cold and potato was as well so there is no way it just came off the grill. The baked halibut was average, not a lot of flavor,interupted while eating several times by server. Dining room and halls were quite dark, and we had to go downstairs for a bathroom,hard for my eighty year old mother. For the price, I would probably have preferred just going to Romeo's.

Went for Valentine's Day. It was fine, but service was really lacking compared to other locations. Hostesses had poor communication skills which made for a very awkward first impression. Way too many staff crowding the entrance way. We watched as every other table in our section was served bread, we were not. Same with mints - other tables were given them with the billfold, but not us. Very disappointing that for the price we paid, nothing was included with the meal other than what we ordered. Vegetables were also undercooked and seemingly had no seasoning whatsoever. Would not recommend this location. Will not be returning.

The Keg's been around for a long time. As a vegan I'm not happy with their menu choices. I go because it's the choice of friends on their birthdays and I choose the ubiquitous "Garden" Burger. It's not bad. Overall, the service, ambience and (even) the veggie food is quite good. My carnivore friends love their steaks and the wine selection is good. However, steak houses are a relic of the 20th century that will eventually die out and disappear.

Best Keg in town. So, there are only two but this one sets the bar high. I've frequented Kegs around the country and this one always sit at the top of the heap. My wife and i attend this location once or twice a month and in the hundred+ times we've eaten there i think my food came out cold once. The manager (Dino, i believe is his name) is always friendly, he walks the floor almost every night. Staff are well trained and attentive as is the case at most Kegs, and you just can't beat the ambiance and scenery at this location.

Service was awesome, but the food was so horrible we will not return. Our calamari was sticky and underdone, salmon was fleshy in the middle, with vegetables so undercooked that they couldn’t be pieced by a fork or knife. I have a stomach of steel but threw up at home. The stats are for the service staff who tried to make our dining experience palatable. Unfortunately the food was beyond repair.

Very disappointing. With a reservation, we waited over 30 minutes to be seated and was never asked for a coffee refill. After our meal, our dirty plates remained on our table for far too long. Our experience did not reflect the price point.

BEWARE!!!! they will not accept picture ID that is government issued presented as an electronic format!!! Must have physical copy of government issued ID. EVEN if you have a reservation, you have to wait outside in the wind or in the makeshift wooden structure. They will not accept any photo ID or ID for the matter that is no government issued. Credit card not accepted. Photo ID not accepted. Terrible service. Discrimination in the worst form. If you have only 2 people in your reservation be prepared to be discriminated against. They just want larger reservations to cash in.

Came here to have dinner it was not busy waitress took 15 min to give us the menus. We first ordered a sangria pitcher, the glasses were super dirty and one with hairs. She just wipe it and gave us the same glasses. Ordered two steaks one of them was fillet mignon which came rare instead of medium rare (that’s how I ask for it). Everything tasted terrible :( I lost my appetite but the manager insisted in giving me a new plate. I said ok when I received it, it was the same filet from before... they just put in the oven for more time

The steak entree and potato was great! Tender and cooked perfectly. The outdoor dining setup is kinda funky. My husband ordered a speciality Manhattan and it arrived in a huge glass, supposed to be 3 oz., but with the ice cube, it looked tiny and short shotted. I would recommend using a coupe glass for cocktails. Was it short? Not sure but it did look paltry in the huge 20 oz. Glass. Appetizers were ok, but cheesy garlic bread was needing something. Usually, when in Canada the Keg is top notch. Somehow it just wasn't up to our expectations. The service was very good though. Maybe just an off night.

The waitor was welcoming. Guided us around the menu because I did not go there before. He helped us get exactly what we wanted! My mom ordered a Fillet Mignon, well done. She got exactly that. I ordered a full rack of ribs. I picked up a bone, and the whole rack dropped off without leaving the plate. It was delicious. I will definitely go there again.

As anyone can attest these days, COVID protocols did affect our experience. The waiter did his best to be engaging, but it was a struggle for him while wearing the mask. I understand why he was wearing one and I support the reasoning behind it. But, it did have an effect. Lovely view of the harbour, place was quite quiet while we were there so lots of attention from the staff. Food was excellent.

The covid measures they had in place took any worry away, and just allowed us to have a really nice night out. We had 6 of us in our party, and our waiter Lang, provided top notch service!
