REVIEWS OF Steamship Grill & Bar IN Victoria

Dominique G.Mosco

Their dine around Victoria menu that was posted and advertised was different then the one in the restaurant even though the PDF and paper menu's showed the time and file name stamp and they were the same, the advertised menu had a 7oz steak, the in restaurant menu had a 5oz, when I asked about it (cause that's the one that I wanted) they said it's the 5oz, not 7oz and that is "weird" that it's different, and that 7oz was an extra charge, um no? You supply what's advertised, both menus show had a time stamp of September 2017, this was intentional. As a business when you're shady practices are pointed out you supply what you advertise, you don't say "that's an extra charge" food was good though

We have been to Steamship a couple of times in the last few weeks and have been extremely happy with the quality of food. We went when it first opened and was disappointed in the quality of the food, but everything is so much better now, Our server, Phillip, was very knowledgeable and his recommendations for both our meals was dead on. I got the Steak with peppercorn sauce and my wife got the Crab and shrimp Linguini. Both were excellent. I highly recommend the Steamship for great casual fare and a special dinner. Also, if you get a seat on the patio, it offers a great view on the Victoria inner harbour. A great place to bring guests to the city. If you go ask for the server named Phillip. Once of the best servers I have dealt with.

C Jackson

Great food incredible service.

Amanda McLeod

Southwest Bowl with Chicken. This bowl was really good, would definitely order again. Unfortunately I was disappointed by the lack of non-seafood options and ordering a bowl was not my ideal dish for lunch this day. If you are a seafood lover you will have more menu options when visiting this restaurant. The cocktail menu was also lacking here.

Jamie Fry

Pretty darn good actually. I liked my steak and I was told the mussels were great. They could turn the lights down and bit and the music was very odd...

Ricardo Nichols

A wonderful spot to have lunch, good selection of local brews, nice pub food, fantastic outdoor dining with view of the harbour.

Rainbow Goddess

Drinks were alright....raspberry mojito tastes like raspberry water and Caesars weren't very flavorful. Ordered food waited an hour and 15 minutes but food never came, because our waitress never rang it in. Asked for a bill and she still had no idea that she forgot our food?? She even came back before the bill and told us "it shouldnt be much longer" when we asked for the bill she didnt even question the fact that we hadn't eaten because she never even rang in our order to be made. Also watched a bus boy drop a cloth on the patio floor then continue to wipe the next 5 tables with the dirty rag. Definitely would not go back.

Michael Brar

Nice place in front of the marina. You can sit on the patio and watch the boats going by. In front of the BC legislature building. The restaurant is more of a upscale menu and Deco. More on the expense side for food.

Catherine G

Great seafood pasta. Wonderful service. Beatiful deck view.

Ray “Flight” King

Food was pretty good, and the staff were very kind and polite.

Erik M

Good food, service and beautiful view????

Scott Briggs

Nice place in the inner harbor. Great views ,good food.

I'm glad I had a coupon because this was NOT good. We went specifically for happy hour and $1.50 oysters. They had no oysters or anything to replace them with. We were given the lunch menu instead of the dinner menu. The Chefs Choice wasn't available. We never got our second drink order. My eife was told the coleslaw was mayonaisse based when it clearly wasnt. Portions were small. We opted for one fish and chips and one seafood platter. The fish and chips was ok, portion was small, coleslaw was bland, tartar sauce runny. The seafood platter was 2 skewers each with 2 prawns and one scallop. The prawns were burnt. It also had a very small piece of sockeye (overcooked) and an even smaller piece of tuna (again overcooked) and rice and veg. I won't be going back again.

Went for brunch. Decent food but it's a bit too pricey. When I went, they served coffee from the adjacent Starbucks which isn't ever my preference.

Doug Newton

My friend told me is the best patio and view of Victoria, but its not only that. The food was exceptional, local and fresh. The service very friendly and professional. Also, good selection of local beer and wine.

Mikhail Liverpool

Nice restaurant with a great view right on Victoria harbour. If you can get a spot on the patio during a nice summer day, you can enjoy a coffee or a beer and watch the planes, boats, or people go by from a comfortable vantage point. A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to happen by just as the water taxis were doing their water ballet routine. It was amusing and worth seeing at least once if you're on the area on a weekend. Prices seem to be Victoria downtown standard, but you're paying for location and view, so it can be worth it if you're in tourist mode.

Shelley Fulmes

Food was good and wait staff was nice, but the service was pretty slow. Took about 2 hours to get through dinner.

Troy More

Nice patio even in November. Quite reasonable prices and good food. It's quite rare to find a place that gets fish breading this perfectly. I'd actually rate the fish and chips among the best in the city. Coleslaw was rather bland though as if it was trying hard not to offend anyone by committing to any flavour. Beer glasses are rather small considering you can get full pints nearby for the same price.

Aaron Olfert

Food was great, views were great and service was amazing. I accidentally dropped my glass of wine, shattering the glass. The staff was so sweet and for giving

Logan Edwards

Enjoyed happy hour and dinner here at the end of March on the patio and it was absolutely lovely. Chelsea was our server and Ravi and Aakask (apologies if we got spelling wrong!) were in the kitchen. Both the service and food were incredible (I wish we had taken photos of the plating!). Chelsea was prompt, personable, and attentive and the food, beyond being delicious with beautiful plating, is well priced for the quality. There is enough variety on the menu that you aren't stuck with meat only dishes, although there are a number of meat and seafood options as well. The patio is well heated (which I especially appreciated) and the view is gorgeous. The patio is open which is great for ventilation and this, along with the table spacing, made us feel comfortable and safe eating there. This was our first restaurant outing in quite some time and the staff really made it a memorable one.

Eleana Baker

Nice location, food was good but portions were a bit small for the price. A mouse was running around under the tables, mentioned it to our server and found out it had been around there long enough to have a name.

all time crazy

Asked Google what was near me and this came up, and I'm glad I went! I ordered the blackened snapper sandwich on whole wheat toast with a salad and I am extremely satisfied. I'm the only one in here, so the atmosphere is calm and quiet, but the views are great! Why not enjoy a meal with a view. If you're in Victoria and need a place to eat I highly suggest Steamship Grill and Taphouse. - A Hottie Eatz Review

Jessie

A semi-classy place to grab a bite next to the water. Dusk dining on the patio was beautiful and they offered blankets if you're cold even though it's well heated. Staff was super sociable and helpful. It was a great new experience into fish dishes but the price was a bit steep for the size. They need someone to curate their playlists better because it was all over the place and didn't suite the vibe of the restaurant at all which ruined the ambiance.

John Pickersgill

Beautiful location with stunning views. Service is great, very friendly, helpful. Decor is outdated, menu is ok, surprisingly not polished for a location like this, more of all over the place. Appetizers were mostly good until cooled down. Bang bang chicken was great. Food itself is ok, drinks are ok, not felt any alcohol in the end at all, had quite a few. The pricing for appetizers, main course and drinks on Valentines is not bad at all. High table reservation is silly, really not much difference than regular seating. Thought it would be stunning, 3 stars at best. Sorry, not coming back.

Tony Christensen

It's a decent place to have a meal overlooking the inner harbour. The food itself is mediocre but not bad, and the tap lost isn't stellar but the view and variety of cocktails can make up for it!

Meaghan Irene

Great food, well served (thanks Josh) in great surroundings. Our new favorite spot in Victoria,

Kate Lois Howell

Fish and chips was excellent with a unique salad too. Wonderful view of the inner harbour from the patio. Our server was friendly and timely. The final touch for my meal were freshly made mini donuts with a hazel nut carmel sauce to dip them in!

Brandee Anderson

Went here yesterday with my husband and had the 3 course option. The restaurant industry has definitely taken a hit due to COVID regarding staffing and the host let me know they were understaffed that day. There were a few missteps with service (I’ve worked in the restaurant industry so I’m a bit picky) but the food was phenomenal! Called the General manager, Rich, today to offer some constructive feedback in addition to praise for the caliber of the food. I prepared for a defensive response. His energy and dedication to the restaurant was obvious. He was friendly and welcoming and made me feel like a VIP. Bravo to you! You have earned a loyal customer and we will be back soon! Highly recommend????

Oliver Burton

Just went for drinks. But service was great. Excellent place to relax before boarding the Clipper back to Seattle.

Andrée Noye

Meals was very tasty and view on patio bar none.

Tobias Staley

I took a break from eating to post this review. This place is by far the best dining establishment in Victoria, yes that's a bold statement however they are well deserving of it. Their quality ingredients, creativity in dish selection and meticulous attention to detail is unlike anything ever experienced in Victoria. Sorry Q at the Empress, Aura and every other fine dining establishment there's just no comparison. A definite place to be truly impressed.

Martha Elle Dunning

Coconut prawn appetizer, Caesar salad, and a superb white wine made for a lovely repast. Served quickly, tasted great.

Saina Khandabi

Amazing food and service. We came here for Mother's Day and my mom said the fish & chips were the best she has ever had. Our kids loved their meals too. We will definitely be back!

Douglas And Lystra Brown

Took advantage of the Dine around menu for $30. The whisky crab bisque was excellent the shrimp with Yam was good albeit a little small in portion. We had sirloin steaks as our entries and they were cooked to perfection. For deserts we had the sticky toffee pudding which was excellent but was let down by the smallest potion of icecream I have ever seen. It was also quite melted. The pumpkin creme brulee was not as tasty as a normal one but still good. Service unfortunately was disappointing as she took 15 minutes before we saw her and then hardly at all after that.

Nicolette P

Giving two stars just for the beautiful patio and beautiful view. If you are going to Steamship Grill for fish and chips, then DO NOT! We had to wait for the food to arrive for almost 40 minutes. When food finally arrived, we were surprised on how much batter the halibut had... too greasy! The fish piece itself is way too small for the price and covered in layers and layers of batter. Even the fries were too hard and not fresh. Do not recommend this place to dine in.

Nathan Hearn

Amazing food and the staff even better. Was such a memorable night. We spent over 2 hours there and never felt rushed or anything. Will be back for sure.

Onur Kurtiç

What a fun and Charming delightful restaurant and bar. Food is delicious , servers are quick courteous and friendly . Location location location LoL

Alvira Plett

Amazing evening. Visited for dinner. Turned up with no reservation on a busy Saturday evening, had a drink at the bar and then sat on the terrace. Live music, amazing food. Especially the whisky crab soup and doughnuts for dessert! Wonderful evening, great musicians adding to the wonderful atmosphere. Friendly staff and prompt service. Would 100% return and recommend.

This used to be one of our favorite places. Last visit they be we're out of burgers, and steak. I got the last order of scallops and they were tiny and rubbery. Way overcooked. We won't go back.

Laura

The nice view is not worth the mediocre food and ambivalent service My family and I had dinner at the Steamship Grill Sunday May 28th. Right from the beginning when we arrived we had a disappointing experience. Even though we had made a reservation other tables without reservations were seated ahead of us in the prime patio seating area. When we were finally seated the gentleman at the table beside us was listening to music on his iPhone which was quite intrusive and loud enough for us to clearly hear. We did not say anything as one of the on-duty managers clearly knew these guests as she was continually visiting and chatting with them. She was obviously aware of the music and chose not to say anything or ask them to turn it down or off. To start our meal we ordered the calamari. Unfortunately when it arrived there was a large clump in the middle that was not cooked (the inner portion was raw) and had to be sent back. This was rectified but disappointing. For our main dinners I had the green curry with prawns and chicken which was fine and my husbands sirloin was also acceptable. My sons pasta was however unpleasantly swimming in oil/butter, leaving a puddle at the bottom of his bowl. Once we finished our mains we looked forward to dessert only to be told the restaurant was sold out of 2 of the 4 options - both the tort and the donuts and it was only 6:30pm. Another disappointment. Overall the service was slow and throughout our meal dirty dishes were left on our table and not cleared away in a timely manner. Looking at dishes that need to be cleared away is never enjoyable. As we were leaving at 6:40pm I overheard our server indicating to another table that the restaurant was sold out of all burgers and salmon. A bit difficult to understand how a restaurant can be sold out of 2 main courses and 2 desserts so early in the evening. Finally one more disappointment…...... instead of simply posting a rant online I reached out to the restaurant the following day via the email posted on their website - it is now one week later and still no reply. This restaurant may have a good location and a nice patio but it is so not worth it when there are other great restaurants to choose.

Xander Haijen

Breathtaking ocean view was worthier than the food.

Great spot for afternoon appys and drinks. Patio is well covered /heated for comfort. Servive excellent

Jessica Marshall

Great location and excellent food, but overpriced due to location within a high tourist area.

Bob Kenward

Excellent food served in a wonderful atmosphere with great views of the harbour. Our waitress was exceptional.

Dennis Leung

Very slow service . Over an hour for a bowl of soup and a sushi roll. Sushi nor very good. Waitress not apologetic at all.

Kamal P

Great place. Food is reasonably priced considering where you are. Really nice views from the patio. The service was fantastic! Food was excellent we liked it so much we went there twice during our short stay in Victoria Loved the Cod and Chips was the best fish i have had in a long time, very crispy and not greasy at all.

Mike H.

They have a great heated patio that had a nice view. The food and drinks were really good and the portion sizes were large. A bit pricey but worth it.

Larissa M

Steamship bar and grill is an elegant and welcoming indoor and outdoor resturant inside a historic building. The building also has a starbucks, art gallery and little shop. Steamship bar and grill is perfectly situated alongside the magnificent harbour of Victoria, BC. The menu is posted inside the building which is great for those at Starbucks wanting a dinner later on. The menu has a wide variety of fresh fair priced options from pasta, sushi, salads, power bowls, seafood, burgers and appetizers. There is a hearty selection of unique vegetarian options. The mac and cheese, salad and artisan bread ordered was a dcent portion size, fresh and full of flavor. Our server was friendly and the service was excellent. Steamship Bar and Grill is a great place to take in the view, breathe in the sea air all while enjoying a fantastic meal.

I heard the promos on the radio, I knew that they moved into the wax museum. I went today for the first time. The ONLY negative thing that I have to say is this...WHEN the name of your establishment includes the work "TAP", one would expect to find a plethora of beers. However I will say that they pride themselves with sourcing local EVERYTHING and that is huge in my books. The service was wonderful, the atmosphere was sublime and the view overlooking the harbor was decadent. I was impressed and I would most definitely return.

Nina Simons

Service was wonderful, view was spectacular on the balcony BUT the food was less than great. Still ate it as we were starving but I expected better quality for entrees costing $20+. Needs a new chef!

Christopher

Food was ok and the service was great. Our crabcake appetizer and my wife's mixed drinks were great but our fish and chips left something to be desired. Definitely a tourist-y restaurant but a good option when most other restaurants are packed on a Friday night.

Melissa Holman

Love the location and the food was awesome and mostly the waitresses were very kind

Sarisha Moodley

Great service. Halibut fish and chips are the best in Victoria! Craft beer on tap. Friendly staff! We will be back.

Chris

We ate here on our first day and also ended up eating there on oue last day. Food and service was great.

Cédric Havermans

Service was a little slow at first but improved. The patio is beautiful and well setup and found staff friendly. Food was overpriced for quantity but this is Victoria lol.

Carley Haynes

We were in town for a short 4 day visit and grabbed dinner. Loved the interior, feels very original do when it was an actual steamship terminal. Has one of the best views in the area!! Dinner was fabulous. Great service, good selection and the meals we ordered came out timely and perfect. The oysters where delicious!!

Trena Laine

My wife and I were taken here for dinner by a friend who had eaten at the restaurant before and loved the place, we were sat and after 25 minutes no order taken, not even so much as a glass of water. Table is sat behind us and gets immediate service? We get up and walk out and nobody even talks to us on the way out. For a better than average restaurant this was a disappointment.

graham John Bettis

Food is good staff is better. View is best

Juhan Kim

We had the fish and chips really good

Carlos Miranda

We were wondering why the place was nearly empty on a weekend, because the food and service were very good. Then we realized there was a rodent problem and when a mouse got too close for comfort near the end of our meal, we decided to leave. As we were paying the bill we were told it was an old building and not much they could do! This is certainly a health issue but if you are from out of town and reading this, be assured that Victoria has a lot of other nice restaurants in older buildings where you don't have to worry about mouse droppings in your food.

ramiro perez

Food was expensive for the quality we got. Large party and no one was thrilled with their food. Kinda jamed in with big chairs and no room between tables. Good service and nice location.

Janine Gauvin

Happy hour has great deals. However we went for oysters as mentioned on Google but there were none available.

Victor Gandon

Really enjoyed our experience here. We both got salads and really loved them! Food came very quickly which was appreciated. We also shafed crème brûlée for dessert and it was amazing. (Pictured is the tuna poke bowl)

Chris M

I had a great experience here. The view on the patio is amazing. Drinks and food came very quickly. Special shout out to my server Jocelyn who was absolutely fantastic with my table as well as those around me. That's not to say the other servers were sub-par because I watched other staff treating the customers just as well. This is not your run of the mill chain restaurant; this is a great local business that obviously cares about their staff as much as their customers. Great work! Will definitely return and recommend.

Anmol Sethi

Was great! Kind of booked it on a whim to have dinner for my mum's birthday while we ate visiting Victoria, and it was great! Good food, I had a shrimp linguini and it was perfect. Margaritas were also spot on. And I don't think any of us sent any food back on the plates, cleaned them right up! Service was also great, and it has a nice ambience.

Michelle Floyd

Great menu made of top quality ingredients. Everything seafood was amazing here. Price may seem a little much but worth every penny. Treat yourself. Highly recommended!

Justin Wiltshire

I had the baseball-cut Sirloin and sides, and thoroughly enjoyed it. With a nice view and good food for the price, I plan to come back!

Carla Beer-Carpenter

So I did make a mistake by ordering the pizza. Their pizza is not good, under cooked and no taste I was told the burger was ok and the fish was ok but don’t pick the pizza

Brandon Wills

Great atmosphere. Excellent food and service. We ate here multiple times on our visit. Staff remembered us, Josh was great!

Oculus L (Oculus Lou)

Good food and the service is good, just a little slower than I'd like. A little pricey but it's in a tourist area.

Cynthia Foley

Delicious food at a decent value. Ordered the appetizer/entree/dessert selection for around $30. The "5oz" sirloin definitely looked bigger which was a nice surprise! I wouldn't come if I was in a rush. Service wasn't slow but it wasn't as fast as it could have been so come for a nice relaxing evening with friends.

Cinder Woods

Lousy service. No one asked if we want a second drink, how was our food, even had to ask for black pepper.found a hair in my salad.Reaction from staff, sorry it doesn't happen often.view is excellent.Thats about all.

LowellAnn Fuglsang

Great service, great view from the patio. The food was tasty, maybe a bit pricey but had a great experience. Would definitely visit again!

Shawn Macdonald

Great service ... perfect for an outdoor dining experience

Max Gorouvein

Another excellent dinner at the heart of Victoria. We had calamari, beet and arugula salad, chowder and mixed seafood grill. For desert creme Brule and donuts - all were outstanding!! Thank you Steamship Grill & Bar!

Phil Goulden

Great visit to Steamship , with the right weather and patio seating in the sun you can quickly fall in love with the view. On to the food the crab cakes, bang bang chicken and shrimp tacos were really good. I also had the northwest steak, which was cooked for too long even though I ordered medium. I would visit again and go doe the medium rare

Black Angus

Excellent thanksgiving dinner. Scenic location

Caroline Dube

Great view and location! Food was great! Desert was overpriced for the size and quality what was on the plate compare to other places we had food downtown.

Onyx H

I gave it 2 stars because my steak was cooked the way I ordered it and they had good salty oysters otherwise it was an awful experience. The service was awful, not everyone's food came out the at the same time, we had gratuity added (large party) our tip was supposed to be $25 but our server had $100 added in as a tip, everyone's was wrong. She rarely checked on our table and didnt seem like she cared there were so many things that were wrong. My filet came with mashed potatoes, a couple green beans and 1/2 a red pepper, nothing that special.Too many delicious places to eat than waste your time and money here!

クーパークリス

Overpriced. Flatbread was overdone. Paid $16 for a Flatbread that was at most $7 worth. We ordered two alcoholic beverages which again were Overpriced and watered down. A small piece of cheesecake for $10. I understand you're paying for a view, but it's not worth these prices. Will not be going back.

Arnold Machel

Held our wedding reception here during Covid, 24 people and they were so accommodating with bubbles and following provincial guidelines. Food was amazing and the location can't be better. First rate service from our first planning meeting throughout our special day. We will return often.

Wael Elrafih

I went to steamship tonight for the very first time. The staff was amazing so was the food. Alexis was the most amazing server ever. Hats off to the cooks who did my steak perfect. Well done. I will be back.

Andrea Morison

We visited Victoria to enjoy for our small vacation. And we tried to find a seafood restaurant close to the harbour and finally we came for the right place. Luckily we got the happy hour menu and the server was very charming and have a great energy to serve us and advices from the menu to the drinks they have. We ordered fresh oysters, chicken wings with blue cheese dip and the burger with fries. I ordered sangria white wine and my boyfriend ordered the beer. everything was delicious perfect combination with sangria with a nice view outside. Definietly coming back when we go visit victoria again. and thanks to the server lady I forgot her name.

Sue Otter

Spent some time on the Patio on a rainy afternoon. Service was good and with happy hours the prices were decent.

Marnye Woodrum

Victoria was a destination stop on our Alaskan cruise, the wait staff, bartender, drinks, and seafood tower all exceeded our expectations. Nice outdoor seating area too.

Arthur Ma

The mixed grill was the best meal I've had out in Victoria in ages! Great service, beautiful view, reasonably priced.

alejandro grajales

Food is great, prices are fair. Service is so slow. Took us like 10 mins to get service. Food arrived at a decent time and the taste was impeccable, but we struggle to get the bill and we had to wait another 10 mins (again). Manager explained it was due to "transition time" between shifts. Place wasn't that busy, maybe 5 tables. Management needs to keep an eye on this "transition time" in order to improve their service speed.

Ed Prior

2.5 stars. Things started off badly when we were seated at what arguably was the worst table in the place - a small 2-top next to a large loud party right in the main server traffic to the bar. Fortunately the loud party left after about 10 minutes, albeit with no distancing and poor mask use. Chowder was good, crème brulee was burned, food was generally competently prepared. Like many places these days, the food is quite spicy - so spicy that my wife was unable to eat her entrée and we wound up trading. Dress warmly, as it's a big old barn of a place (it is an old steamship terminal, after all). I'm trying not to make my initial experience and the lousy table colour this review, as the food was well prepared, just too spicy for us. But I'm afraid the overall experience was disappointing.

KillUhh

The food was phenomenal, the view from the patio was beautiful, and they had little shoulder blankets on the backs of the chairs which was nice. However, the waitress seemed like she had absolutely no interest in working or at least trying to be friendly, and the food and drinks did take such a long time to get to us. But again, the food was super awesome.

Janice Thys (CruiseandTravelGal)

Great ambience and good food. Better training for service staff would elevate the overall experience.

Jackie Johnson

Tourist prices, but the best crispy fish n chips in the city

Christopher F

Not going to get into the service (it was slow but we could have been clearer in our order so we were partially to blame. Though the slow refire was on them) because the server did the best she could. But the food was straight up bad. Easily the worst fish tacos I have ever eaten. The fish and chips were just as bad. I dont know whether the oil was old or it was just overcooked but someone needs to teach the chef the difference between "golden" brown and "fished out of a toilet bowl" brown. Decent view and the host was nice, but beyond that, no redeeming qualities.

James de Boer

Great experience with our entire family. 4 young kids, and the staff and food was great! The halibut fish and chips were better than fisherman's wharf. Right on the water and watched the boats and seaplanes come and go. R

Adam Heffey

Food was delicious. Wife had the best fish tacos she has ever had, and she’s had quite a few fish tacos in her lifetime. Salmon burger was delicious as well. Beers were tight. Braedon was great. Nuff said.

Jessica Salter

I found the food delicious, the staff as friendly as could be. The service is slow, but give them credit for showing up when so many didn't come back to the industry!

Brendan Hood

Sunday night was a rather dead night for them, so there was no problem with seating. Service was adequate, nothing special but nothing to complain about. I had the Seafood Mixed Grill while the wife had the Sirloin Steak. Everything was good without being great. It was basically all exactly as expected, seafood was cooked well, the tuna rare while the salmon was well done. Overall it was an acceptable dinner with nothing outstanding and nothing especially lacking.

THE CANDEES

Good food and views. Seafood was good, I had the muscles and liked them. Caesars were great. Will go back in the summer for sure.

Kevin Gesme

This is a beautiful place with great food, really good service, and an excellent selection of adult beverages. However, there are a few drawbacks also with layout of the building. You have to take an elevator up to another floor to access the restrooms, which I'm sad to say, were really dirty and disorganized. This clearly reflects on the entire organization and you have to wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen.

Allyshia K

Great food, loved the appetizers. The view of the harbour is beautiful.

Lisa R

Took my aunt for breakfast on Mother's Day. There was no a la carte menu, only open buffet brunch option. The buffet was located in a weird way at the side and the halls of the restaurant and was disappointing overall. I love their a la carte restaurant but will make sure it is not open- buffet only occasions going forward.

C.J. Volney

Beautiful patio and tasty food. The service was friendly and fast and it is a great lunchtime spot

Strat Mc

Recently spent a 4 day weekend in Victoria and went to the Steamship twice. On our first night, we sat on the patio overlooking the harbour and had cocktails, appies and dessert. Our server, Chelsea, was friendly, fun and attentive. The Pink Flirtini was a winner for my cocktail and the donuts with whiskey cream sauce for dessert was to die for. We went back for an actual dinner on our last evening in town. The patio was full but we were seated at an open window with a view of the harbour. There was nobody else inside. Our server wanders over and lo and behold it is Chelsea - she remembered our drink order from our visit on the Thursday. Tho I did end up ordering a different cocktail cuz I was looking for something more refreshing and ended up with a Mojito. The view is great at this place, the food and cocktails were very nice and Chelsea was a dear - I hope you are paying her well.

Kind of a tale of two visits. My wife and I ate at Steamship for the first time in January, 2020 (just pre-covid) for my birthday during Dine Around Victoria; it was a really good experience: food was good, service was excellent, and the atmosphere cozy. She opted to take me for my birthday dinner again this year (2022), in one of the first times we've been out to a restaurant for dining since COVID start. This time around, it was a very poor experience. Here's the positives (a short list): - room has potential to be a cozy dining experience (but not taken advantage of) - my starter salad was overall good, though the apple slices far too thick for a salad - chairs are comfortable. Here's the negatives: - Room was brightly lit; seemed more like a cafeteria environment than a cozy, warmly lit restaurant (like our 2020 visit) - At 6:30, they were already sold out of one of the four main entrees for the Dine Around Vancouver offerings (lamb); seemed very early, as the restaurant was only about 35-40% full at that point. - Server wasn't particularly friendly, and didn't know the menu or wines at all - I expect a lot more at a restaurant that wants to be known for "fine dining". - It took over 35 minutes to get our main course after our starter course was cleared away. Again, given how the restaurant was only about 35% full, that was a very long time. - I asked, when ordering what the side veg was; was told carrots and asparagus. When food arrived side was carrots and brussel sprouts (I don't like brussel sprouts at all, and would have asked for a change if I was told of them). - We ordered our steaks medium rare. They were blue-rare when they arrived. My wife ended up not eating hers at all; I don't mind blue rare, so I ate mine. No check on that by server at all. - When asking about the wines, I made it clear I didn't want heavy-oak red; server didn't know the wines at all, and the one I ended up getting was massively oaked. I only drank about 1/3 of the glass; was not asked about it or anything. - Basically on my plate was a blue-rare steak, some carrots and brussel sprouts, and big dollop of very bland (salt seasoning, nothing else) mashed potatoes. I left 2/3 of the potatoes because they were very bland. - The server did do a 2 minute check on the meal, but it was like a drive by shooting - she asked "how's everything" as she literally walked by with no eye contact. She didn't listen for an answer. We ended up spending over $100 for :a wine that was the opposite of what I indicated was my preference; bland mashed potatoes that made up the majority of the main plate; undercooked steak; sold out entrees at 6:30 in a less than half full restaurant; and really bad service. My wife did not eat her steak, and only had the carrots and brussel sprouts and a spoonful or two of the potatoes. It'll be the last time we go to Steamship. Such a shame, as our first experience there was really good.

One of the best patios in town! Fantastic staff, great cocktails and excellent food. Definitely recommend the donuts for dessert!!

Rick Lambert

Very nice place, great food ,good service, everything you would want

Mary K

Great food and drinks menu. They also have a patio with heat lamps and a wonderful view of the inner harbour. Staff all very friendly. Will definitely go back.

Tyler Cooper

Came for happy hour drinks and sat on the patio overlooking the harbour. Service from Cassandra was excellent. We asked her for tourist recommendations and she took the time to ask other staff members and gave us a number of options. Went the extra mile and it was much appreciated as we ended up going to Shirley Delicious which we never would have otherwise and it was incredible. Thanks Cassandra!

Lee Richardson

Had a great brunch and mimosa!

Geoff spero

Excellent views, location and food. Service was definitely sub-par. Had to go to the bar from my table to request nearly every drink after waiting for ages, it felt like we were an after-thought for our server. Other than the terrible table service from our server, everything else was great.

Rezwan Azad

Food was fresh and good, nice view of the harbour and Empress Hotel. Portion size was good not to big just the right amount. I made mistake by ordering two pieces of fish and chips, should have ordered one instead. I will visit again whenever I am in Victoria.

Kathleen DODD

Great patio, even if it's chilly!! (heaters and blankets). Wonderful view of the harbour. I take all of our visitors here.

Ken Turpin

I give a rating of two stars because Joshua was an awesome server. I ordered the lobster ricotta with a side of crab legs. The crab legs were small, salty and lacked crab flavour. The lobster ricotta lacked lobster and was mediocre. On the other hand, the wine, Kim Crawford, is now my new favourite. I will not return nor recommend this overpriced restaurant.

Duncan Purcell

What a great experience! Great food, views and service. The hostess assisted with our reservation for happy hour and was flexible with our timing. Our server Holly was very friendly, provided quick service and even held the kitchen open late for us! Definitely will be visiting again! Crab cakes, and shrimp gyoza were delicious!????????

Claire Desrochers

Superb food. Amazing service. Arugula salad and chowder were phenomenal!

marc kinna

Wonderful, warm and covered patio with a romantic night view and the staff here take COVID precautions seriously! Our food was delicious and we left stuffed. I enjoyed my mussels and fries - I was pretty hungry so I made it a three course meal. The chowder was so good!! I really needed a glass of wine and both the happy hour house wine and Summerhill options were fantastic. Service was great, I forgot to get the name of our server but she was so friendly.

Hakim sekkat حكيم السقاط

Food & Service is fantastic, but the hostess keeps freaking out and repeating herself over and over. I asked her if she was okay. She said, "Oh. I'm...I'm just making sure that you understand." I said, "You keep telling me, 'You have to wait for 20 minutes to place your order.' You told me more than six times. I feel like you don't want me to go in. Please if you're stressed out, look for an office job and not one in hospitality."

Helen Edley

I had a steak. It was really good, cooked just right. Smashed potatoes were mashed potatoes. Veggies were about 1-2 brussel sprouts cut in slices, one baby ????, and 1/4 ????. I was left feeling hungry even after adding dessert, a $50+ meal. My waiter was attentive and accommodating and my food came out quickly. I would have rated this higher but I guess I'm doing an average. Last time I didn't leave a review. I had the calamari and it was awful. I ate less than half of that and was really sick afterwards, think I got food poisoning. My experience was much better this time, but small portions.

Alastair Stuart

Great food but our waitress forgot our drinks and condiments never came back to check on us went to the bar myself to get the drinks and then the kitchen to get ketchup. Kinda a bummer

Betty Kate

Chicken burger tastes so bad, overcooked and the spice was so bland. Do not get it, it is a waste of 17$.

Massimiliano Giannozio

I want it to take my Girlfriend, that accompanied me in a business trip to Victoria, to a nice an fancy restaurant to thank her for waiting around for me. Picked the Steamship for its location and for the beautiful patio overlooking the harbour. I expected, once saw the menus prices, to have a great experience..was not the case.. The Halibut was completely soaked with grease, the dressing was clearly old as you can see from the oxidation on the top from the container on the right side, the container on the left side on the picture suppose to be mayo...looking at the color and the crusting that’s was present when delivered it seems it has been sitting on a shelf for a while. Disappointed..I hope they fix this by the time I come back because the location is definitely a great one!!

Rick Kopp

Went there for dine around. Inside was packed so we sat outside. Plenty of heaters and even blankets so being out in the cold wasn't an issue. Great view of the water too. Food was amazing. I'm sure a three course meal on a regular night would be quite expensive here. The desert was donuts with some sort of coffee pudding and it was bland in comparison to the amazing meal we had before.

Anita Barany

I’m not usually one for posting bad reviews but I felt the need to on this occasion. I took my wife here for some seafood. She ordered the Long life Noodles and Prawns and I ordered the Nashville Chicken Burger (I’m not a seafood fan.) When our food showed up my wife’s prawns were over cooked however the flavor of the overall dish was good. My meal on the other hand was not. The fries were not seasoned and were hard and chewy. I sent them back only to receive a hot batch of the same. The chicken Burger was advertised as such “Nashville Chicken Burger - Ok, we warned you, It's hot. It's spicy and it's what everyone is raving about.” It was maybe a 3 out of 10 for spice and there was barely any chicken or coleslaw on it. I left all the fries on my plate and I ate the burger because I was hungry. The server was barely around to serve us water or ask how our meal was. She took our food away and didn’t even ask how the new fries were. Which were all left on the plate. I think they can definitely do better for such a high end restaurant. They should be able to get fries and a chicken burger right.

Blake Thompson

Went for dine around town. Food was delicious and service was fantastic. It’s now been added to my list of favorite restaurants and we will definitely return.

Alex Stewart

No regrets only came here once will come again when in Victoria steak was perfect its was perfectly cooked and somehow still hot when it came to my table which if very difficult to have when anywhere else service was awesome and views are great too very win win situation

Guillermo Mier

Great location! Fantastic patio, great menu. If you want a seafood focused menu with a great view, look no further as this is the restaurant that has it. Live music on certain nights as well on the patio.

Robert Lo

Great patio and great food.

britney goudy

Amazing food and great staff

Renee Olson

Food was okay, we came here during the happy hour and they have buck a shuck, so we take a look at the menu, the buck a shuck was $3x for 6 oyster with 3 beers... Then we decided to try the a few appetizers to share instead, i like a few dishes that we ordered, except for the shrimp, it tasted like it's been cooked for a while. At the end, no one wanted to finish the shrimp. Our server poured two drinks on my friend's pant, at least she is friendly, but the other server wasn't. We were trying to look for our server but we couldn't find her, so we tried to ask the other server nicely to help us to take one plate away because our table is full and she wasn't too happy about it. The view is good, kinda want to try the dinner menu next time if I come to Victoria again.

李通达

Recommend the tuna poke bowl. So good!

Paw Prints Pet Resort

Beautifully appointed. Service on the slow side, we had to wait 10-15 minutes eventhough there were many many empty tables. Food very good.

Vic Larsen

This place is a joke of a restaurant. Manegement is sneaky and unorganized. I was hired only to be let go a a week and a half later because they "over hired", but for some reason a month later I'm still getting pay stubs for no hours. And when I did try to get my pay they gave me the walk around, told me it would come in automatic deposit, meanwhile there was a cheque in the office for me. Upon receiving knowledge of this cheque I asked Steve the manager to get it for me, and I received a rude response from Steve saying I don't get paid until the following lay period. Sure enough the cheque ended up being there. 3 words for this place... Lack of communication. Also, for the interested dinners, The line is disgusting, I cleaned the solidified mold and the smell out of the place they throw dirty pans; which hadnt been cleaned in months. You may think this sounds vindictive, but its not. I wouldn't want to eat food from that place when all their pans pass through that spot; hense why I cleaned it. Now that I'm not there, I hope it gets cleaned...

TheBigNiceGuy

Excellent location for a romantic dinner or beautiful victoria inner harbour scenery. Fairly priced, great selection of food and drink. Many things to walk to and see nearby. One of my favourite places in victoria

Desmond Hedderson

Great view for watching the activities in the harbour. Food is tasty and the "buck ($1.50) a chuck" happy hour special is a decent deal

Angie Torres

We used the $10.00 off coupon on sunday for dinner. The crab cake dinner was delicious but served cold. My complaint is the did not give us 10.00 off the dinner. My billed showed -$10.00 but they added in $9.98 + .01 dessert .01 dinner so we did not get the 10.00 off for dinner. For that reason I will never be back and will never recommend your restaurant to my friends. d. daniele

Sarah

We were able to eat outside (safer for COVID) during a pouring rain. Heaters and big umbrellas kept us dry. Food and service were very good.

Val Rukhaylo

Great coffee excellet brunch. Will be back. Very friendly service, a little slow but the were under staffed

Alexandra Borradaile

Great happy hour experience which starts early at 2pm! Fresh oysters @ $1 each. Good selection of beer on tap. Cool patio/deck overlooking the harbour with heat lamps. White table cloths.

SEN MJ

Nice place, bartender had a great attitude for a guy who looked hung over. Just had a prawn appetizer, good but a little spicy for us. A short walk from the Clipper.

Edyn Hope

Great food, a wonderful view and one of my favorite patios. I came on a cooler day and I still loved sitting outside and looking at the planes land and the boats in the harbor. Very pretty.

Christine Moore

Best place to eat in Victoria. Atmosphere is amazing. Josh was a fantastic server. We went back multiple times during our vacation.

Elizabeth Nyland

Front service was pretty weak even with a reservation...Once we were Seated the food and service was great! good view on the patio overlooking the harbor!

Sara O'Neil

It was AWFULL! Do not eat here. 1) The Caesar was bland and the bartender didn't put a lime in it, which is an automatic. 2) I had to send my margarita back as I asked for salt and didn't get it. 3) The menu says you can make your meal a 3 course for $10 but they told us when we asked for it that that didn't include the tower of seafood for 2, even though it was in the section on the menu that said it was. 4) The crab was so watery you could ring it out, the mussels were slimy( hope we aren't sick tomorrow) and watery and tasteless and they hand put them on the plate but one was not open (how you could do that I have no idea), the oysters had no flavor unless you douced them in horseradish, the shrimp were overcooked. The only good thing was the tuna. They didn't come and ask us about the food so we are it as my husband us diabetic and HAD to eat, but they brought us our $100 bill, and when I told them again about our issues with the meal they said you are it so you can pay for it, no acknowledgement about the problem at all. Our server was new but she was the only good thing about our experience at this restaurant.

Denys

Happy hour 3-6, enjoyed great drinks at fair prices with a great harbour view and friendly service. I would like to see more food choices for happy hour.

Pavlo Kostrytsia

It was the only place I found on Christmas, and hence I was skeptical that it was good. It exceeded my expectations, though. It has a cozy atmosphere, welcoming personnel, a vast range of dishes, and a decent list of wines. I didn't find many vegan options, though. The grilled salmon was tender and dry. The restaurant interior needs some light designer touch to make this place even more charming than now. In general, I feel it is a bit underrated and can be better. I would give it 4.5 out of 5 if there was such an option.

Khadija Guseynova

Amazing food, wonderful service and fantastic view. We will definitely dine here again!

Louis Labreche

Nice location with great food at reasonable price and good service. Have to try the daily happy hour $1/oyster, $5/glass wine, beer....

Stacy Lee Ferguson

Great food and even better service. Staff is super friendly and food is outstanding. The old fashioned tasted excellent and the clam chowder was fresh and tasty. Sirloin and grilled shrimp was scrumptious and we left completely satisfied. Highly recommended!

Ann Fraser

Food is average. Server did not tell group gratuity was already added to bill. Talk about unethical. I would never recommend or return due to that.

balbir saini

Thank you so much for all your flexibility while hosting our conference group. You and your staff served with an abundance of patience, kindness and professionalism. We loved your tasty, local cuisine and many of us can not wait to return with our friends and families.

Laksh H

The service deserves a 1 star. It was horrendous. The food took over an hour. The female waitress we had, clearly hated her job, took us half an hour even to get drinks ordered. The ambiance inside was bright and non cozy ( was at night). The washrooms were upstairs and grungy. The seafood however is incredible and deserves a 5 star. All the dishes that we ordered were very, very tasty. Kudos to the chef. But won't go back there based on service and ambiance and filthy washrooms.

Daine Rose Trinidad

Great food... great service... terrific view!

Dinesh Sunthareswaran

We had our lunch here with our small dog and we asked to sit on the dock (with the water view). We were told it was against BC health law and were sat on the busy street. Our server was helpful during the visit. However, as we were leaving we saw another family being able to eat while their dog was present. This is a privilege we were not given. I would not recommend this restaurant as they like to pick and choose who they'd serve. #racism #endracism

R Thiru

They often say beauty can only be seen through the eyes. That's not necessarily true, we smelt it too. Our group visited this waterfront restaurant in hopes of spending a relaxing Saturday evening and it didn't disappoint. The views, the warm heater, service and the food was simply awesome. There is something magical to sip beer or cocktails by the seaside while enjoying some comfort food like BBQ cauliflower, pizza and salmon burger with fries. This is a must visit restaurant for a relaxed day.

KAISA AIERKEN

Amazing steaks and service. Great location on the harbour.

Tyler Ganske

Nice location. Good food. Really disliked that server did not point out to guests that gratuity had already been added. No problem with paying set gratuity for a large group but to not say anything is unacceptable. Would not return for that reason.

Ravi Reetoo

Delicious food and great service, I love the views and the decor, and literally everything else about this place! So lovely

Hilda Ostby

This is probably the nicest patio in the inner harbour in Victoria. My Fiancé and I went there in a date night and I can’t that her enough for taking me there. Local fresh food, great staff and a great atmosphere. The staff were great, the prices were great for the value and the food was outstanding. We had some seafood and bought a bottle of wine. The waitress matched the wine with the food. Even though it was fall and little chilly out the patio was heated properly and made for a great experience. It is difficult to find such a nice patio with a great view of Victoria’s downtown. I am looking forward to having another meal there and I am referring all our guests that visit from Eastern Canada this year to this restaurant. I feel like it is almost a must go and a great place to experience Victoria’s waterfront.

Angela Courtney

First off there website gave me the option to put myself on a waitlist that doesn't exist (what the waitress told me when I told her I was 4th on their waitlist from their website). Secondly, I ordered fish and chips but told the girl taking my order I couldn't eat batter if it contained beer cause I'm allergic. Hung up and within a minute I called back and tried to change my order and she wouldn't let me and then proceeded to tell me that she just went ahead and changed my fries to a salad because the fries contained beer. I told her I wasn't happy with that ( she had my number to call me back and didn't) she then told me that I had to take the salad because she had ran it through (without my permission). She was so extremely rude that I highly recommend she change to a different career. The food was gross and not seasoned at all. I would recommend skipping this place. For what we received it wasn't worth the price. Very disappointing. I would give this place a zero if I could.

Alan ONeil

We stopped in late and were looking for a snack... We were really impressed with the calamari! Their outdoor patio was amazingly beautiful with lap blankets and propane heaters. What enticed us to go in was a comment by a couple who were leaving. They saw us looking at the menu outside and offered that the fish and chips was better than anything they'd had back home in England!

Dale Dubnyk

Well spaced for "covid safety", the menu looks large but mainly variations on similar items, bowls, pizza etc. Far too much ice in all the drinks..

Joanne Lawrence

Great food, good service. Beautiful view of the harbor from the patio too.

Betty Parker

Very good food. I had the calamari and it was very nicely seasoned and the center salad I had was delicious. Great atmosphere and nice waiters. Would go multiple times. Highly recommend it

Bassam Abdelmalek

We arrived at 12:30 to an empty restaurant and a sparsely seated deck. There were 7 in our party. We waited for 50 minutes before the first 2 orders arrived, another 10 minutes for the third order, then another 20 minutes for the next 2 orders. The last order , of a bowl of chowder ,arrived as two of the guests were finishing their meals! We had hoped to all eat together but realized the food was getting cold. Absolutely terrible service which did not make for a pleasant birthday lunch for a group of locals. The server went into a long explanation about being a heritage building and not being able to bring out food in a timely and integrated manner. Parties of more than 1 should be informed of these shortcomings when reservations are made!

Amanda Lim

Really great waterfront patio! Servers were nice, food was well priced and views were spectacular. I ordered the Santa fe grilled chicken bowl. Was very flavorful but do think it was a bit overdressed. Was happy with the portion size and it was nice and fresh.

Bruce Ty

Called at 5.20pm was told not to busy,no reservation needed. Arrived at 5.45 to be told they were fully booked. Had to make alternate dinner Plans. Not good!!!

Joshua Dodgson

Made a reservation with Madison (or Maddy) got there and there was no patio reservation or anything for us. I told them who I spoke with and the two girls looked at me with confusion and said there's no one there by that name. I asked two waitresses and he's she does work there. So we had to sit inside which is not what we wanted. Food was great but service was atrocious. Waitress didn't clear our table until the end. We had empty soup bowls, salad bowls, cups and plates over filling to other tables around us so we had room to eat. She gave us the bill and we had to keep asking her to come by with the machine, half hour later she finally got sick and tired of us asking and brought the machine do we could pay. Absolutely horrible service.

Allan Miller

Nice view

Blair Norton

A nice pub and grill. The appetizers and meals were tasty, as were the desserts, especially the Scotch pudding. I would have liked the halibut seared rather than battered and deep fried. The prices are a little bit on the high side, but worth it.

Leanne G

Great atmosphere and patio but took 45 minutes to get our food, with no appetizers before hand. Their chicken wings were not prepped dor serving and our food showed up with cold fries.

Anita Tse

Lovely view, delicious food, and the wait staff gave us her honest opinion about the best wine on the happy hour menu, which made us feel at home.

Elizabeth Bagnall

Lunch on the patio overlooking the harbour, great food and fantastic service!

Hannah Johnston

Great atmosphere! The food was pretty good. I found the seared California sushi was a little heavy on the rice, but other than that it was good. The chowder was great! Nice staff as well.

Tim Felbel

Prices are ridiculous at this place. If you get the jumbo prawns , you will pay $17 literally for 2 prawns. Not worth it. Beer is overpriced. Service was great, but will not be back

Penny York

Popped in for lunch and had delicious chowder and coconut shrimp. Great outlook and friendly service. Thanks

R D

Great vibe and a great menu selection. We had the oysters, brussel sprouts and a tuna stack... Would definitely recommend all 3 dishes. Service was fast and efficient, would dine again!

Brian Bates

Food is okay. But they have freshly fried mini doughnuts with caramel dip for dessert! Worth it just for those.

Colin “lunchtime” Johnson

We waited 75 minutes to get our bland food. My Spicy chicken sandwich had no flavor or spice. My friend ordered a medium rare steak and got a well done hunk of leather. This place I now realize exists for clueless cruise ship tourists. I wonder what opinions tourists have about Canadian cuisine because of this restaurant.

Sidney Shapira

Convenient location, great food. But need more manpower for service. Waitress so busy to check in our table ( she keeps running around), wonder how many tables she's serving.

Georgie White

Great food and fantastic patio! However for not being tremendously busy and our waiter training new staff, they were a bit all over the place. We requested new table to sit at as the one they sat is at had a couple of us facing their inside entrance and mini dish pit area LOL so request what you want for the experience , delishes food etc was all amazing.

Brenda Inkster

I came with a large group. The service was quite disjointed and one meal was forgotten. The steaks were all cooked at the wrong levels of doneness. Dessert was very tasty. The restaurant was too loud for conversation.

Alan Wallace

Average fish & chips. Nice harbour views. Main problem was slow and lackadaisical service. The latter problem would make it highly unlikely for return visit.

brian preston

After looking at the menu online I was looking forward to experiencing this new restaurant. The prices were quite high, but I was under the impression that the restaurant could hold its own quality wise, to underpin the prices. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The "fine dining" expectation was a let down, the decor was bland, mood music was bad (Bryan Adams Summer of 69, really?), and the eventual presentation of food very boring and unrefined. I paid $35 for the steak, and it was well cooked and tasty, but the presentation and plate content though was a small dollop of mash and literally 2 thin green beans, beside a steak. I sort of looked at it in amazement that I was paying for this what I was. My girlfriends Quinoi and Risotto dish had no risotto in it at all, which the waiter blamed on the kitchen and never followed up over. Although he gave a slight discount on the bill for lack of risotto. We sat in the dark on the patio for about 10 minutes, until eventually we were given a candle in order to see our menus. The blankets on the patio were a nice touch. But the table presentation outside (and in?), the heating outside, and the lack of attention to detail in decor and food presentation left a bad taste in our mouths unfortunately. Such a let down after such high expectations and a large bill at the end.

Miss Selah

This is the larger of a few tennant's and with several doors opening, it is chilly indoors on cool days. Must be worse on colder ones. Our brunch was good. The service was friendly and attentive. We will probably go back.

Jim Senior

This is a special place. Lovely building with high ceilings and classy table settings. The lunch menu was reasonably priced considering how high end the decor is and my family enjoyed lunch looking out the windows at Victoria's inner harbour. A real treat to eat here.

Let I z Grice

The food was alright and the view was beautiful but that’s where it ended. Came into the restaurant with a reservation and had to stand around and wait for the hostess to address us because one of the waitresses, the manager, and hostess stood there trying to figure out what section the waitress was in for her shift. Why the heck would you do that at the hostess podium? There were about 7 people in our party and they sat us on the patio, beautiful view! However they sat us out in the sun n not under one of the 10-15 tents they had set up for shade, with plenty of open tables. The temp today was between 25-30 degrees today so that was less than enjoyable. The waiter took our drink order and they came quick but that was the only thing that was served quickly. Our entire table waited for about 20 minutes to get their starters which were 1 salad and 2 bowls of soup. Then waited another 20 minutes for our courses after we finished the starters. Well guess what 2 of our courses were served to the wrong table and when they finally got our orders to us they were wrong and the kicker was I repeated my order to the wait staff about 3 or 4 different times. When the manager addressed us he blamed it on the staff, being understaffed etc and asked what they could do to make it better. They did comp my meal and offered everyone free desert but after management blamed their staff for neglect the whole place just left a bad taste in my mouth. I won’t be back and I don’t think anyone in our party will go back either.

Renee Mellody

Not good. Service was just ok. Here was this "someone else will do it" passing the buck type thing going on. Sat on the patio, only because we were talked into it. It was a cool night. She assured us it was warm on the patio with the heaters. It wasn't. Then heater by our table was out and no one seemed to want to deal with it. Eventually our server tried but then had to get someone who eventually came after we asked about the fourth time. View was amazing. Food not good. It was like someone was trying to be fancy with the menu but I honestly couldn't eat some of it. Crab cakes had no flavour, then I reread the description. Who put quinoa in crab cakes. The coconut shrimp my partner liked, I thought were bland. The tuna tataki I had hoped it would be good, but I could not eat this. It was awful. My partner tried it with and without the jalapeno topping but he didn't enjoy it either. To be fair, they took it off the bill. The hummus was good. Has olives, which I don't like, but my fault for not getting them omitted. Overall food was not fantastic and prices over inflated. Just glad most of this was on a late happy hour pricing. If we lived in victoria, we would not return.

Sean Levesque

Very good location and food! A bit more expensive, but food quality has increased. I had the burger, and I would go back for the burger.

Jenee Taylor

Ate the crab cakes and seafood chowder. Very disappointing! Crab cakes were bland and small. I'm not sure I saw much seafood in my seafood chowder. Chowder was thin. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant. There are so many others that I ate at while visiting Victoria that were much better. Server was very friendly.

Pearl Kohlman

That was pleasant visit , good food , good people, good places. I'll be back

O Stoa

One of my worst dining experiences ever. Waited over an hour for food when the restaurant was not very busy. The beets in my wife's salad were rock hard. Disappointing considering we had a nice meal there six months ago. Maybe an off night.

Chris Grima

We enjoyed it, beautiful views. Service was a bit slow but the waiter was the only one serving and bartending, he was doing the best he could, all considering, he was very personable. Husband said his burger tasted a bit burnt but ok.. but mine and my friends was good.. I would go back for sure..

Dickie Rev

Worst place to eat waited and hour and a half for the appetizers, the calamari was like eating cardboard oh and let's not forget about the frozen buns delivered to our table, brutal. Now let's talk about the main courses once we also finally got them. Some of us at the table did not even get the full entree that was ordered and they were also not brought out at the same time. Salad brought out last which also was supposed to have a skewer of prawns and scallops that was never brought out. For the record our waiter was good it was the kitchen that was the problem and we were it the only table complaining. We asked to speak to the manager and all we got were excuses about being short staffed in the kitchen. The manager wanted to give us gift cards so we could come back we politely declined however they did take care of what did resemble our bill. Will not be going back there anytime soon!!!

Ellie E

Friendly staff. Great food. Only thing we didn't like was the crabcakes but we ordered lots of things and everything else was spectacular

Ryan Faith

Looking for a Dinner Disaster...this is the place!!! Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. The food was not very good, the service was scattered, the food arrived at all different times, etc. When I talked to Steve (Gen.Mgr.) I realized the root of all the problems. Steve told me I should come back when he's there and things are running smoother. This is right after he told me he was there the night of our dinner. Then he told me that not everyone gets a complimentary birthday dessert, that you have to get "the nod" from the manager...really??? We were lucky enough to get "the nod" and the complimentary dessert I suppose, but what about everyone else?? How do they decide who gets a complimentary birthday dessert?? Everything about the conversation felt wrong to me and I can see why some of the staff behaved the way they did. If you decide to go to this restaurant, make sure it's not a special occasion, you will be disappointed.

Sara Lavelle

The mixed seafood grill was good, but not nearly good enough to justify the price, even taking into account the view of the harbour. Some servers seemed quite friendly, but others including ours were aloof and disinterested.

Nic N

A nice place to have a meal and/or a drink. The patio is lovely, with a great view of the inner harbour. Food is good, staff are friendly and professional. We have enjoyed a few meals here and been happy with all of them. This is a great place to have lunch while you are waiting for the V2V express ferry to take you to Vancouver, or if you are catching the Coho to Port Angles.

vittorio o

Lots of menu choices, I loved the Vegan- ator burger. Good job on the Covid spacing and protocols. Safe place for an upscale meal in high end setting for average prices. We're becoming regulars. Hosts and hostesses are all personable.

Joe K

I ordered the steak and shrimp and was pretty disappointed. Great brussel sprouts though. I don't think I'd try this place again though.

Thomas Szafran

Was hoping for Wild Salmon, but otherwise the dishes we did try were delicious. Nice view at the Harbour.

Food was good and portions were appropriate. I would recommend the cauliflower as appetizer the taste was amazing. Our host was very kind and friendly as well.

Juno

Great food, and the bartender was awesome and very informative about the area. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Victoria again!

John Nohr

Great place. Drinks were excellent as we're the appies. Beautiful view of inner harbour.

Beth C

Went for date night for Dine Around and everything was wonderful. $30 menu was appropriately priced, and the food was excellent. I had the pork tenderloin, which was cooked perfectly. My husband had the prawn and mussel linguine, which was not skimpy on the shell fish. Service was great, and we were early enough for happy hour, another perk! We will be back.

MJ White

We just went here with a large group (15 of us) we were charged a compulsory gratuity of 18% which is steep but acceptable as I understand this is common practice for groups of a certain size.. this would be fine if it were not for the fact that the waitress failed to tell anyone in our group that a compulsory tip had already been added, she then went round us all taking our money, completely silent when the gratuity option came up on the machine, several members of the group then went onto add a further 15-20% most of us ended up paying around 40% in tips. Absolute day light robbery. We of course only realised on our return home, I have never experienced such dishonesty at an establishment, and I am certain this was not a mistake, she knew exactly what she was doing as she had a good look at each of our receipts as she went round to take our bill. I hope to get our money back and I will be sure to tell my friends and family to avoid this establishment in the future.

Perfect afternoon stop en route (walking) back from Odgen Point.

Went to Steamship Grill & Bar on the evening of August 16th at 8:40. We didn't have a reservation, and were told to wait 5 minutes while they figured out tables. After waiting for more than 15 minutes we were told that it would be about 30 - 45 minute wait due to a busy kitchen (restaurant was a little less than half full). We said that we could wait out the kitchen by sitting and ordering a bottle of wine, however this wasn't an option. They said to leave our name an number, which we did. We waited 30 minutes and came back at 9:30 pm. Upon arrival the doors were locked and we weren't let in. We never received a call back either. It was okay if they didn't have room for us, but don't string us along by saying that we can come back, very poor service and communication. Too bad because the food and wine menu looked great, and we probably would have spent quite a bit of money considering it's our honeymoon.

A V

We looked at the menu and saw “West coast chowder” on the description, It said “creamy white, west coast seafood” I had a bite and I noticed a piece of meat. I asked the server if there was bacon in there, which he replied saying “yes”. I don’t eat bacon, never have! I feel so betrayed. Need to fix menu ASAP!!!

Larissa Bissett

- The food was bland and mediocre. - The hostess was not accommodating - she was more interested in helping her friends/colleagues. - Our server was great though, and the beer was cold. - For the money you will pay, you can find a better restaurant IMHO.

Val Swanson

My absolute favourite restaurant in Victoria! The Steamship's "curtain gallery" is my go-to reservation spot for hosting a party of 5 or more people - featuring a rotating selection of paintings in completely-secluded atmosphere. Patrons can enjoy food and drink on their patio overlooking the harbour year-round - heaters and blankets are always available if the conditions get chilly. Finally, the Steamship's menu and kitchen are exceptional - practically every selection jumps off the page and the dishes themselves practically jump off the plate. Conveniently located beside the Black Ball and Clipper terminals, you should consider stopping by the Steamship before (or after) a journey to America.

Melanie Nikolaisen

Great service and yummy food. Very helpful and friendly waitress Gabby, We all enjoy dinner there and recommended place to go and we will be back to have dinner there next time when we back to Victoria.

Bob Childs

Really great experience! Kid friendly, quick seating for walk inside, great food, great service!

Danielle Knight

Horrible horrible experience. I waited 5 minutes to get an empty wine glass and had to wait another 5 minutes to get the wine to go in it. Dirty dishes were never cleaned off the table. They sat in front of us for over 30 minutes. We had to wait at the registers to get our bill.

mayu wat

We visited here on last Monday night. We called them before visit, lady was so nice and told us to come right now without reservation. Then we went. At reception, another lady was not ready to work, rude, and turned us away. She told us that restaurant is so busy because they have a big party at patio, so they can't take us even can't take reservation for later time. We came out of restaurant and made reservation 30 min later on Website. When we came back, they were not busy at all at patio. A lot of empty tables. That lady lied to us to turn us away. She talked to us as person who never seen us before. What a terrible work!! Other than that lady, place was good, food was so nice, server was wonderful ????

Tracey Bosch

Food was pretty good -- I had the Blackened Snapper Burger -- but the place is in need of a serious deep cleaning.

Gordon Dyson

A nice restaurant that with an awesome location and great views over the harbour. The waitress was really kind and friendly. The food was good (nothing that blew my mind though). I'd recommend!

Jacko Au

Nice atmosphere, good food, great service. Their take on sushi was interesting and very tasty.

Liamp

I went to eat today with my son, they have taken a long time to bring us the food to the table, but I definitely recommend this place. everything was incredibly perfect. Food and dessert. The attention of the staff was spectacular. We will return to this place.

Jacquie Brauer

We went twice for supper and lunch. Excellent harbor view and seafood. Service was outsfanding.

Paul Onderwater

Great food, atmosphere, and our server Jamie was great! I live in Victoria and have been here many times, will definitely be back!

albert wong

Very good food and location

Steve Wolfe

Best food in the area but the parliamentary dining room is cheaper.

Jagbir Brar

Throughly wonderful experience.. Good food and good service

Peter Mastromarco

Nice restaurant in downtown Victoria overlooking the harbor. Nice atmosphere, good food and courteous staff.

Kelly A.

Food is great, but drinks are watered down and sizes are laughable

Tom Schweich

Just had the 3 course dine around town meal. Everything was absolutely amazing!!!! Highly recommended!

Edi domingo

We had dinner on their patio. Space was so tight. The guy behind me is basically leaning on me. We had to wait 45 mins for our food. They were overcooked and bland. Sangria was a joke. Our server didnt even check in on us on hows our food. Literally the worst dinner we had in victoria.

M W

Chelsea was absolutely fantastic! She made us feel welcome after our ongoing travel. The food was on point, but her drinks had us at Hello!! Fully recommend!

debbie stevens

The service was scattered, and not concentrating on using the best of their ability. The staff looked harassed, and acted like they would rather be somewhere else. My water arrived in a bottle, without the ice and lemon I asked for. I ordered a coffee, this did not arrive either. Attention to detail of the individual customer was not there. They were bored. I sat and waited and my original waiter was obviously in another location. A summoned a young female waitress and asked for some lemon and ice and a coffee. This came, eventually and the coffee was Luke warm. I ordered a dish that had overcooked potatoes, that looked and tasted like they were re-fried at least two times again, over salted crab and avocado filling, a salad that was herbs so strong in flavour that it was not a salad and was not edible. The hollandaise was think and blobby, cool to the touch. The eggs looked ike they were dried eggs. There was no toast, which should of been with the dish, and when that arrived it was an unhealthy bread with a cheap tasting marge/butter spread. The jam was the cheapest and high in sugar, and it looked it and tasted like it had been used before. The staff have quite the floor to cover, and some of the seating is not visual. They have a busy outdoor patio, that seems to take the attention. If I had been a big spender and had a 50 dollar lunch instead of a 20 dollar lunch I might of had more service. The staff did not looked train in customer service, and the hostesses were not keeping an eye on the floor. Severs are becoming complacent in Victoria and when the quality is effected in all areas, local will eat at home.

Kelly Landle

Had their Cod fish and chips. The batter was nice & light. The fish was moist and creamy. The service was excellent!

Sheri Yoner

Waitress was lovely - we had ordered from the taste of Victoria menu - 3 course meal -unfortunately there was a hair in my meal - ruined my appetite and did not get the plate remade - the kitchen has an open view - chefs with beards should be wearing hair nets. When the bill came they charged for the starter salad - disappointed that nothing really done to try to improve the experience - do not believe this place is the best Victoria has to offer.

Shaun Kain

Live music on Saturday & Sunday. Happy hour food was pretty ok. Nice view of the inner harbour.

Chris Bush

Great location with an amazing view, heated patio and gorgeous drinks. The service was absolutely amazing, very kind and helpful servers. I ordered the steak with shrimp, the steak was a little bit dry for medium rare and the veggies were burnt on one side so the food could’ve been better. I would definitely go back to this restaurant and highly recommend it.

Natasha

The food was great, the chief definitely is creative, enjoyed the food a lot. On the other side, the service is just awful. All food on the table without cutlery, coffee without spoon, the waiter was taking their mask off while guest just standing beside them, waited for the bill about 36 mins. It feels like the management has given up on this restaurant. I personally would recommend the chief find another restaurant, do not waste your talent here. This management group also wasted such a good spot. I will not return.

Janis Silver

Sitting outside under the heaters, looking at the harbour, you are transformed to a tranquil environment. The food is always good.....I have enjoyed the poke bowl and the power bowl on two occasions. My dinner mates have had the bang bang chicken and the fish and chips. Not one complaint amongst them.

Jen Stave

Service was wonderful. Refills were very frequent. The food was amazing, and set up quite nice. Good does take awhile to come if busy, but that’s to be expected. Definitely recommend :)

M VT

The place was empty when we went in mid-afternoon. Three servers standing around talking and not one came over to greet us. We stood there for 5 minutes before just walking out without speaking to a single server.

Ino W

On the water really good food, friendly and efficient servers.

Harpreet Singh

Had a window table inside not outside but still had a great water view. Server was good ,lots of smiles & friendly.

D DUBB

The patio is awesome. Hard to beat. And for the most part, I've had nothing but good times here... Sadly not the case today. And it has nothing to do with the waitress. She is sweet. I just wanted one part of my meal well cooked and it was served almost raw? Is that a joke? I questioned the staff and showed how embarrassing the food was and she affirmed she specified my request and ya, you get the point. Sad.

Bill Bono

Great dinner with our kids- was something for everyone to eat. Food was great- especially the Miso Halibut. Sat outside at sunset- restaurant provided heaters and blankets for everyone!

Dave MacCabe

Sat on patio , view of ocean, core Victoria. Food was tasty, some how our food forever to come but 3 different staff came to let us know it's coming soon and in the end they took our soups from bill due to our main bee late. Never asked . Staff were friendly.

Vandana Chandra

Don’t waste your time.pretty sure this place is on the verge of closure (sad for the owner). Bird droppings all over the patio and tables. Food not seasoned and small portions. Understaffed. Go try local or hanks.

Tony G

Mini doughnuts are amazing!! The patio has warmers and it's probably the best patio around! Their happy hour is really nice too!

Phil Isaak

What a I say about steamship, food was amazing and service...second to none. And the view was spectacular! Definitely worth going for a great meal! Highly recommend! Enjoy!!

Neil Smith

Kacey was awesome. Great asset to have on their team. Will be back.

meenal pasricha

I was there for lunch on my bday. We got to sit with a view to water. The server was really polite and gave suggestions for food. I really loved the shrimp gyozas. I definitely recommend this place.

Peter Dunn

Been there 3 times in 5 weeks since moving to the Island

Kaylie Montgomery

IMO these guys have the best all weather patio in Victoria. HUGE umbrellas with lots of patio heaters make it great for colder and rainy weather. Their crispy California rolls are awesome. Only gave them a 4 as the service could use a bit of attention. Still, would come back in a heartbeat.

D McMinn

It was quite a stormy night that brought us to the restaurant, and the place was eerily empty. We were (all 3) underwhelmed by the menu, and the service started off despite having only 2 other tables with 8 guests overall. I guess we charmed the waitress who ended up pleasant and the meal itself was honest, no more. Cocktails could really get some more lovin'... Bartender day off?

Liz Goode

Busy on a Saturday night. Cowder arrived almost cold but tasty. Calamari great but ran out of solid sauce. Loved the inner harbor view

Mel Graff

Service

Aaron R

Clean restaurant with a good selection of seafood. Only had breakfast, but the chicken ciabatta sandwich and breakfast meats we're delicious and prepared well. Little pricey, but the quality and service was worth the convenience.

Janis Cruz

We were in Victoria for a short stay and came across Steamship last night on our walk to downtown. The view and the happy hour sign outside caught our attention so we went inside and sat out in the patio. Our servers (a nice gentleman and Emma who was training) were very nice and polite to us! My boyfriend and I were looking for the washrooms before we left the restaurant and we had no idea it was all the way upstairs. A hostess at the front who had a ponytail with a glasses on (a heavier lady) was chatting with a colleague and never acknowledged us. We waited till she stopped talking to her because we didn’t want to interrupt. As soon as we finally got her attention, she was unpleasant and was assuming that we weren’t customers and told us we can’t use the washrooms. I told her that we just had finished eating at the patio and need to use the washrooms. Then she told us that it’s just down the hall. Well it wasn’t!!! She didn’t say it was all the way upstairs and to take the elevators! It’s not hard to be courteous to tell your customers to take the elevators. We are a tourists and never been there in our life! Lack of good customer service can turn your customers away!

COVID PHMs, handwashing/basic food safety flagrantly ignored. Came in for a date-night dinner rezo with my girlfriend. Asked for a seat near the fireplace, which had the added benefit of having a view of the open kitchen line. We ordered 1 drink each, and glanced over the menu. From when we first sat down, to approx. 15 min later when we left, I observed the head chef/sous not wearing a face covering of any sort. The line cook he was working with (tall blonde fellow with glasses and a black hat) had a mask on, but wore it pulled down to his chin, and at no point did I see it worn correctly over the mouth and nose. As if this were not bad enough (given the ongoing pandemic), I witnessed the same cook eating on the line, whereupon HE PUT FINGERS IN HIS MOUTH AND THEN IMMEDIATELY HANDLED FOOD FOR CUSTOMERS WITH HIS BARE HANDS. At no point did I witness this employee leave to wash his hands, and neither of the kitchen staff on the line appeared to be wearing disposable gloves. After a few more minutes watching this repeat, our server returned to take our food orders. We related what we had just seen happen on the line, and that we were leaving. She was very understanding and apologetic, and did not charge us for the drinks. Given we are entering the 3rd year of this pandemic, and given how long Public Health Measures have been in place, to see such a blatant violation of mask mandates, food safety, and plain common sense is absolutely unconciounable. I will be reporting this incident to Island Health and the City of Victoria Bylaw Office for violations of the Provincial Health Officer's mandate and Food Safe. Pros: +polite and attentive front of house staff Cons: -unsafe food handling practices -kitchen staff not washing hands -staff observed not/improperly wearing masks

Bradley Tackitt

3 out of 4 dishes were below par. Mussels were under cooled and lacked flavour. Eggs Benedict's were over cooked. Curry bowl lacked authenticity with conflicting flavours. Great view though.

silverback401

Arrived for our 8pm reservation for dine around Victoria. By 9pm we finally received our appetizer, but had to send it back. Calamari was ice cold and over cooked. We waited another 30 minutes for our main, and it still hadn’t arrived. We were told by our server that they were busy…and sorry. We paid for our drinks and left. Over an hour and forty minutes we sat there…what a disappointment! Never again!

Jodie Fineman

Regular burger and sandwich. Good location and nice service, but nothing special.

Chad Wong

Sadly lacking in character that opens up to the location. No open patio with lots of life and music. Just a few chairs and tables and a darkly renovated bar. Ugh.

Debbie MacLean

Food good, service poor. The nice view and decent food are not enough to overcome the service. We were provided dirty side plates, couldn't flag down staff for assistance, all in all, you can do better by going elsewhere.

Angela Dietlein

Great location and views on the patio. Unfortunately the food is average.

Alexander Hermann

I just wanted a drink at sunset on Saturday night, and even though there was clearly space on the patio, and a group has just left when we arrived, my wife and I (after the staff deliberated for a minute) were turned away because there was no space... Or perhaps because the hostess thought the next customer who walked in might be more lucrative? There wasn't a wait list, and we were not offered to start one either. Ridiculous.

Daniel Neva

The location is just great. They have variety of wines and beer. The food was delicious and the staff are warm. We shall go back!!!

Sara Mayer

First day back to in-restaurant dining, and I'm glad to say they didn't disappoint! Some minor hiccups, but completely made up by excellent service and food!

Ken Wright

Veganator burger was excellent. Chelsea recommended the shrimp linguini, which includes salsa verde. An interesting combination that totally works. Crab cakes were yummmm. They brought free ice cream for our granddaughter, which is always a hit. Thanks!!

Roy Samson

We love the Steamship Bar and Grill. The food is locally inspired. The fish and Chips were delicious. But we always go for the doughnuts and chocolate dip. Yum.

Cory Stevenhaagen

Food is good but very spendy. Weird menu. They don't have crackers which is strange . And the food took super long.

Myra Lucke

Amazing food and service. Amber was our waitress and she was fantastic. It was the only place we could find that had their patio open. Great views and very relaxing. Would have stayed longer had we not have to head to airport.

Kimrona M

Fantastic Happy Hour menu from 3 pm to 6 pm. Food and service was excellent.

Vic Dumbleton

The good views make up for the okay food.

Risa Sorenson

Coconut shrimp and green salad were excellent. Crab cakes only so-so. Awesome view of the bay and I love that they give you blankets!

Ms. Lynch

Really good food great location patio fab

Don Brabham

The view was great, the staff both attentive and nice. The Westcoast Chowder and Crab Cakes were delicious. The Happy Hour Sangia was even quite tasty. A nice evening stroll to good food and view on a heated patio. Very nice evening. Pictures are of the view from our table.

Mirjana Vanderzee

Absolutely fantastic. My family took me for the first time. We had a lovely Christmas dinner. Thank you so much ????❤????❄☃️????????

craig beesecker

This is a great place when it comes to having one of the best views of downtown Victoria if you are sitting on the patio. From inside, the way the chairs/windows are set, unless you are over 6 feet tall, you don't get much of a view. However, if you are looking for a quiet and elegant place with plenty of space in between booths, then this is great choice. The menu is somehow assorted and descent but on the higher end when it comes to prices, which I guess is justified by the location, ocean/harbour views, etc. As any other place downtown, parking will be a nightmare so either plan in advance or choose the underground paid parking from the hotel across the street.

Ashley Flannigan

We stopped in to look at the menu for a place to eat. We were met by a rude hostess who did not seem interested to seat us. We left as clearly we were an inconvenience to her. We went to Finn’s where the staff were all pleasant And the food was very tasty. FIVE STARS TO FINN’s !

Nathan Jones

Very nice location! Had a patio seat. Blankets and heaters for the breeze off the water. Food was nothing special, except the mini donut dessert with warm Kahlua and chocolate dipping sauce. If I go back I will be back only for dessert.

MIike 4Point

Decent menu and food. Service was pretty good. The location and the outdoor patio is hard to beat.

Kali Hackenbrook

Patio ledge (right next to tables) was very dirty. Old food scraps and bird waste. It was really unappetizing. Server was un interested in her job. The food was average at best.

jimmy terp

The setting of the Steamship is a nice mix of classic high class 1920's architecture, with a modern feel. The food was great, and so were the drinks. We had the coconut prawns, which were perfectly seasoned. Too bad there weren't more in the portion!

Simon

Good food and quick service. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and we had a nice cozy seat by the fire. It is a wonderful place to wait for the ferry if you need to grab a bite to eat or just want a quick coffee or cocktail.

Mansur B mansur

A go to place for us for lunch or a light dinner. Frequent staff changes. Somewhat inconsistent service. Great view of the Inner Harbour in Victoria, BC. Hard to find parking. On street meters or further away if it's a busy tourist season.

Rizvan Stenlund

Sat on the patio, beautiful view. The restaurant was busy but the food was still great, as was the service. Served by Harry, great experience.

Neil & Sheila MacKenzie

Service slow. Entree arrived just as we started our soups and salads. They were going to leave the entree on the table to get cold and I asked them to take it away. I told the waitress I did not want food that had been sitting under a heat lamp and they brought the same food anyway. Finally they remade our food. All this took some time and made for an unenjoyable meal. No offer to adjust the bill. Will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Christine

This place was recommended by a friend and it didn't dissapoint. Service was fast and friendly, the food was outstanding. Worth checking out for sure, looking forward to going back and trying some other items in the menu

Scott Lemire

45 minutes AFTER we ordered our meal, they cancelled on us! Now there is no good restaurants left open to order from and my kids, my wife and I are hungry and have to reorder and wait again! If your going to cancel a customer's order, don't wait 45 minutes to do it! You will never get 1 penny of my money ever again, as this is the 2nd time you have done this to us. I highly recommend nobody ever order from here as they don't care about their customers at all!

Megan Nahser

The service is good. But food quality is bad. Mussels not cleaned from the grass, shrimps just unfreeze cheep shrimps from Costco. Good view and good location, but for big price you got street food level

Willow Blacker

Beautiful location, and the food.... so yummy!! I recommend the tuna tataki on cucumber, although someone else at the table had the same on wontons, and apparently that was delicious too :)

Ryan

5 stars for the food 5 stars for the best harper view 5 stars for the staff Special thank you for the manger Richard Becker who served us all the night with big smile after one of the staff didn't show up. We will go again for sure

Robert Cote

I love this place! Patio is really cool (great view of the ferry terminal). A+ nautical experience. Make a reservation for faster seating as it sometimes gets busy.

Trena Shalene

I was lucky enough to win a contest from The Q! to have a work night out at the Steamship Grill & Bar, and it was certainly impressive. The view, of course, is unbeatable. The drinks were well made and tasty, and the food was spot on. It was definitely worth getting the three course meal to have the crab whiskey soup and creme brûlée, and the perfectly cooked steak in between of course. Large groups are sometimes hard to handle, but our server was very friendly and helpful and all of us from Roofmart had a great time!

Paula Lilly

Excellent service with friendly staff. The food was great.

Crista Formosa

Food was decent (somewhat over cooked but they claim it's the law). Atmosphere was nice but the bad, slow, and inefficient service more than countered the good. They claimed they got slammed (it was 5:45 PM!) So I guess they can't handle the volume. They weren't even full. 10 minutes for a waitress to show up with menus. Ordered waters all around. Another 5 minutes to get them. Another 5 or so to get our drink orders. Another 10 before the bar tender ended up serving the drinks. He repoured the beer because it go warm! Won't go any further but to top it off it took almost 15 minutes to pay our bill and some other guy came out to do it, not our waitress. Left a "pity tip" of 5%. I'll not be back.

Kathy

Had our anniversary dinner here. Everything was delicious, except the king crab on our platter was a bit watery. The whiskey crab soup was yummy and the donuts for dessert were awesome!

Kalia Leslie

We were very disappointed with our experience. After explaining that I was celiac and requesting the crab ceaser salad and gluten free crab cakes. I found croutons at the bottom of my salad. This is a major issue. The reaction from the server was poor, a very cold " are you OK? " and when the bill arrives the salad still on the bill. It was only removed after I approached the server and indicated how unhappy this made me, he then said " oh I thought it was a preference." Long story short if you want to feel confident that your being served a gf meal, don't eat here.

christian longpre

The food was excellent and service was friendly. Had the James Bay Organic Beef Burger. It was delicious.

Mike Byers

Good food and great location right in the heart of Victoria's inner harbor.

Katy Baxter

Stopped in for drinks and the lovely view. Beautiful view and ambiance!

Angie Koehler

Am local Victorian, food was boring, coconut prawns and bang bang chicken were fine but not great. It’s too bad that such a beautiful building and location serves such sub par food compared with rest of Victoria’s amazing restaurants. Service was slow and again sub-par. (Took 20 mins to receive first drinks) Restaurant was 1/3 filled on a Saturday night, so expected much more attentive service. Won’t bother coming back here again.

Jason Clark

Jake provided excellent service. Food was delicious! A wonderful experience overall. Nice view of the water from the patio. ????????

Kenneth Lowe

Had an excellent valentines dinner. The food was amazing and the desert (cheese cake rolls and the mousse tower) were to die for. So full and happy. Staff was very friendly and looked happy to be there.

Joanne Russ

Nice outdoor patio eating option. Friendly staff and delicious food.

Angela Dyck

Dinner

Chad Gould-Hawke

Great experience. Best harbor view in town. Alex is a superb waiter, great drinks and food. Entire staff was friendly. Loved the heaters and blankets in the outdoor seating. Watching sea-planes depart and arrive along with the Empress Victoria toe Vancouver and the Victoria Clipper. Don't miss it when you visit Victoria.

Mikael Santerre

Our server was brusque. Other servers, especially the greeter at the front were wonderful. Food was good, view wonderful, of course.

Rick Pinson

The food and service was great but the noise level was a little higher than we like when dining out.

phil S

The outlook was great, the service ok, however the food was disappointing. The shrimp were soft, tasteless and mush. The bowl of fries was tiny. Would never go back

Michael Bailey

Good service. Reasonably priced, delicious food.

andrew strauss

Hosted two seperate business lunch meetings. The atmosphere was perfect and the service the best! Highly recommend the fried halibut, was much better than the cod. Local red wine was wonderful! Only complaint is the washroom is public, making it a long walk from the restaurant. Even on a different floor, accessible via a single elevator.

john taylor

Great tapas drinks and happy hour specials

Robert Poole

Terrific happy hr: Right on the water, with killer view, if you sit outside/$1.50 super fresh oysters/amazing steamed mussels in garlic-tomato broth. Need I say more?

Janice Sheldon

The ambiance is really nice. The service was okay. We ordered the Surf & Turf for two, that comes with a 7oz steak, which we asked to be medium rare. It was medium well; and you can still taste the strong alcohol content in the demi-glace. Being pregnant, I could not eat it and ended up spitting it out. It really did not taste good, we could not finish it. We mentioned this to our server but she simply dismissed us, saying there was no alcohol in it. She checked with the kitchen, who said there's red wine but it should be cooked off. But it tasted like someone decided to pour red wine on the steak and let it marinate while it was served. This is the first time in my life that I felt like I had to let the server know that something was wrong with my food, and yet we weren't even offered a simple "sorry". In fact, she pointed out that "Is it just because you're pregnant that you can't eat it? Well, he can eat it". The rest of the items on the platter were sub-par too. The salmon and the tuna were overcooked and flaky. Good thing the dessert was good.

G H

Lunch on the patio was lovely with the view of the harbour. Our server, Jake, was informative, polite, attentive, friendly, light hearted and pleasant. The dressing was light and refreshing on the greens and the grilled salmon burger was most delicious. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Sally M

Amazing patio with fantastic harbour views! food and drinks were delicious with quick service! Great place to visit during COVID with outdoor dining only.

warren lemcke

We ordered a bowl of chowder, the bowl/dish was big but the portion wasn't. We were all very disappointed in that and unfortunately the soup was luke warm, not hot here it was very tasty. The rest of our food was very good : calamari and cauliflower. The venue is right on the water in the heart of the inner harbour so beautiful view. Happy hour from 4-6 then again after 9m.

Austin Wild

Chelsea was phenomenal during me and Brittany's time there! Despite being short handed, she was able to move quickly and efficiently while demonstrating the very best qualities of timely customer service. We raise our glasses of wine to you for your great hospitality, and also to Steamship for the high calibre employees that they employ. Thank you so much for your PHENOMENAL SERVICE!

Nick Warrington

Went there for dinner today. Ordered the basics - burgers steak chicken strips. Food was not warm when we finally got it 1.5hrs - 2hrs later...service is terrible. We ordered bread for appy - no cutlery or napkins were ever brought until dinner came. Steak was so tough and fries cold. Waitress that was supposedly serving us was too busy being bartender. I will not be going back.

Lisa J

Service was slow and the waitress forgot our appetizer. Food was good tho. Waitress made it right and took appetizer off the bill. In her defense she was the only one working.

Matt Ollech

Visited with my sister and brother-in-law and others for a birthday party. We sat outside on a lovely evening. The staff were very attentive, the food was good and the atmosphere great. Heaters and blankets supplied for when it became a bit chilly. Been before and will return on my next visit from the UK.

Maddy Fletcher

Gorgeous views from patio. We made reservation and were informed patio was first come, first served. We decided to have a drink inside while waiting for our table. I confirmed that our party was next for a table for four. When we were seated outside, I saw that a foursome who arrived after we arrived and who lacked a reservation had been seated outside and were halfway through their main course. It is a lovely spot in the summer but I felt like the hostess was not up to her word for seating. The food was pleasing albeit somewhat overpriced.

Justin Roach

Great food good service great view of harbour

Beautiful deck overlooking the harbour, friendly service and great food. Enjoyed these greens with goat's cheese, candied pecans, subtle citrus vinaigrette and grilled chicken for under $20.

Very noisy place, and too dark to read the menu. The crab cake appetizer was one lone crab cake, and it was tasteless. The chicken mushroom pasta was bad. I had the "Dine In Victoria" menu, and they probably gave me cheap food in order to be able to charge the low price.

The food was great and the view of the water was amazing.

Tried coming here on two different occasions, both times closed. website wrong times, staff completely checked out on the phone - I get it covid times, but something as simple as updating your website or having half decent customer service when paying customers should be the number one priority when running a business.

Excellent food and top-notch oysters. One of the best caesars in the city. Wonderful service and ambiance - cannot beat their outdoor patio overlooking the inner harbour!

Fantastic views of the harbour and the Empress Hotel. First class location. Excellent service and well thought menu. Try the Jumbo prawns in Tequila sauce
