We reluctantly dined in - we weren’t keen due to the pandemic. We requested a table away from everyone and the host was happy to accommodate. Food was good - wine is grossly overpriced, but the service from Dawid was fantastic- a really great lunch albeit the bill is a bit much for an outdated restaurant. 2 cocktails, 12 oysters, 2 glasses of wine and 1 appetizer for $168.... that’s a bit much - glad the service was too notch, not rushing back!
Went there with a friend for lunch. This tucked away place is beautiful! They’re know for their seafood, so there’s a special “fresh & available” menu that you can choose from. The food we ordered came out at the same time. Even though I would say the fish’n chips we ordered was not as warm as we’d expected (it was probably done first), the flavour was on par with what I had in London. The Brussels sprouts were excellent, so was the Burrata Beet salad!
Beautiful location in the center of Grandville Island Public Market! Always receive the best customer service as me and my girlfriend are regulars. My go to restaurant for the freshest variety of seafood!
Yummy fish and chips! Although I think their claim to fame is not fish and chips but all the other offerings they have as far as fish goes. Maybe you’re in the mood for some sword fish?
One of the amazing restaurant s I've ever visited. Their raspberry lemonade is my fav drinks so far since I'm non alcoholic. ???? Pizza was amazing and the giant lobster was lit ????.. also the salmon platter was brilliant. Must try..
Best seafood place and drinks for me and my friends we absolutely enjoyed it! ❤️ Had the best view on the patio the staff were very accommodating, kind and professional
Dine in
The view is amazing! Spacious 2-floor restaurant with heated patio as well. Good service. I had the poke bowl which lacked some flavour, needed something more on it.
2 different oysters from Vancouver area with a Côte du Rhone Rosé wine! Alway tremendous company, served by a very cute waiter... A Kinbakushi's dream place.

Sandbar @vancouver’s Granville Island. Consistently delivers delicious dishes. Great menu selection, mid level price, service is fantastic, wine menu sufficient and generous portions. Perfect location on Granville Island where you can enjoy theatre, cultural events and dinner. It’s a regular favourite hangout of mine and many others who like a casual but trendy west coast ambiance. Parking is tough on Granville Island but most make the island trip an all day walking tour event anyway.
The server we had was terrible, and thats a shame because it seems that the rest of the team there was working pretty hard. Food was disappointing for the price... best part about it would have to be the atmosphere and view of false creek.
Dinner
I had an amazing dining experience here. Our server, Jordan, gave us such great service. The food was fantastic. They offer a variety of fresh seafood, and even have a sushi/sashimi menu. Their menu really offers something for everyone. Along with the ambience, it makes for a great place for many different kinds of celebration!
We were on the top floor and the view was absolutely incredible! Good service. Had the clam chowder, not much for flavor and actually made me sick after ????
Wonderful table and environment. Excellent service and the food was awesome!!
Food? Excellent. Service? Incredible. Views? See for yourself. Price? A little high. Like... quite high. But you can get cheaper things if you want! If I had to pick just a couple things, I’d recommend the sushi rolls cause they are VERY tasty and packed with fresh seafood, and the crab and artichoke dip.
5/5 on ambience, service and location, definitely worth checking out. The food is good but can be hit and miss. I actually don’t recommend the happy hour menu, the portions are too small even for HH dishes.
Service
I've visited here a few dozen times over the years. The ambience is wonderful and staff on this visit were great. Wok calamari incredible as always please never loose this item. You can always get a great fish entree and I should have. Instead for lunch chowder and fried Oysters. I have had a number of better chowder and the fried Oysters were not really enjoyable at all. I feel I'm an Oyster veteran so I ask management to really review this item. Nothing was pleasant about the Oysters However still a great restaurant and staff and I'll just order something different next time.
What a beautiful restaurant right by the water. Great views, great costumer service and beautiful interior. I had a seafood pasta and it was delicious and fresh and the price made sense lol
My girlfriend and I booked a table during the may long weekend, and we had a wonderful time. Omar provided excellent service. He was friendly, quick-witted, and charming. The food was delicious and so were the drinks. We shared a pitcher of white sangria, and I had the Huli Huli Chicken, my girlfriend had the Black Cod, and we shared a few tasty appies. We both highly recommend checking this place out!
Food is substandard for the price. Paid for fine dining... Got only dining. Interior of restaurant is interesting to look at, but I wouldn't spend on a 3 course meal here. Only dessert was OK. This entree was one of the 3 courses for Vancouver Dine Out Festival. I could literally cook and present better than this (what is this rice?). How this place is rated about 4 stars is beyond me.
Excellent food and ambiance. Server was amazing and the live music made the night really special. Highly recommend
It was delicious, the restaurant is expecialized in seafood, but there is a short rib. It’s cozy and it has a beautiful view.
Tommy, aka "The Captain", is the best out there. He makes the Sandbar experience special with his high attention to detail and ability to connect with others. Thank you for another amazing night!
Excellent Poke Bowl. Great wine plus oysters. Warm ambience by the fireplace. Impeccable service!
Meal type
Great ambiance, impeccable service (seriously, they kept the restaurant open till late for us as we were eating very slow!) and fresh seafood! I just wish it was in downtown instead of kinda-hard-to-get-to Granville Island. (It is totally worth the trip, though!)
We had a great late night meal. Service and food was excellent
Excellent customer service. Our waiter was so welcoming and kind. We got two sushi rolls and an order of scallops. Scallops could have used more flavour than just butter, but cooked perfectly. Sushi could have been executed better, but the fish was fresh & delicious.
Dinner
Absolutely fantastic! Our server, Eric, was very charming and professional. It was great to see the staff working together as a team to help all of the tables. They even came and wipes ours after clearing our plants which I appreciated. We had the thai curry mussels, crab and artichoke dip, and tiger prawns and everything was fantastic and fresh. I can't say enough good things. I especially love the view from the patio! We ended with the chocolate truffle dessert, also fantastic. My only wish is that I wasn't so hungry and thought to take photos of the rest of the meal. I did snap a couple pictures of the fresh seafood that you can see upon entering. 10/10 place to eat on beautiful Granville Island!
My boyfriend and I went to Sandbar for a nice dinner last night, and while our entrees were lovely and the fish was perfectly cooked, our oysters and shared plate were extremely disappointing. Our server didn’t have an answer when we asked about the differences between the three oysters that were available and sort of brushed us off by saying “most people just order a few of each to see what they like,” and we love oysters so we did. They were NOT shucked cleanly from their shells and while I wiped away all the grit I could see on the inner shell and on the oyster meat itself, we still got mouthfuls of grit with each oyster and really had to work to detach them from their shells ourselves which was disappointing not only because the oysters themselves were really delicious because we chose Sandbar specifically for their reputation with fresh seafood. We expected the prep and knowledge of our server to match that quality. Our shrimp cocktail (which we ordered because my boyfriend makes this at home and prepares the shrimp from scratch and we expected and hoped for an even better version of it) was terrible. There were legs clinging on and bits of skin hanging from the shrimp, they were tough and way over-cooked, and worst and least appetizing of all, we basically had to devein them ourselves at the table. Two had full veins, were not even cut into as if anyone had attempted to clean them, and the rest were done so sloppily that we had to devein the bottom half or wipe the residue from them before we ate them. At 18.95 for 5 shrimp, I expected the best I’d ever had and this was easily the worst. It’s too bad that I only thought to take the picture after, but you can see the sloppy cleaning of the last shrimp, and a few legs and veins on the napkin from the shrimp we cleaned up ourselves. Unfortunately, our server never asked us how anything was when he cleared our plates so we never got the chance to mention it last night. As a food tour guide, I constantly have guests asking me for recommendations around the city — often for seafood, and I can’t say I’ll be recommending Sandbar anytime soon.
This place is an entire experience. The food may be a little expensive, but its the ambiance, the view and the location that you are paying for and I think its worth every penny. I recently visited with a friend and we sat on there enclosed patio even though it was pouring rain. Looking at the bottom of the Granville street bridge was a fresh perspective. Seafood is a must here. Pricey experience, but if your willing its worth the experience.
We went back in September but never got the chance to leave a review. We were hungry but wanted something nice before we went for whale watching. Our servers name was Omar and he was great. He was very helpful and our meals were awesome. I can still feel how the fish just melted in our mouths. We got the 4 savage blonde (oyster set), 4 kusshi, 4 ss raspberry for our apps. For our meals we got the black cod and arctic char. The Arctic Char is the fish that just melts in your mouth. I would highly recommend this place. The oysters were really good as well.
The service is what makes this place. The food is good as well, as is the interior
Delicious seafood. Lovely service. Great cocktail. And a warm, suave chalet-like vibe with talented live musicians. Only criticism: we were served plastic straws with our cocktails. Not really acceptable. Cut against having ocean wise fish on the menu.
A very good experience. We arrived a bit early for our reservation for 6 on a Friday night and were seated promptly. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and is very roomy with great views. Our server was great, attentive and freindly. At times we found it difficult to get his attention as he served other tables, but once we did, we had no issues with the service. The food was very good. All the meals were served together and they looked and tasted fantastic. The portion size and presentation was very good as well. However, one thing we found a bit distracting was the sound level of the live music at the bar. We found it somewhat difficult to have conversation across the table during the music performance. All in all, it was a great experience and I recommend the Sandbar. If you like and find this unbiased review helpful please give it a thumbs up. Thanks
I've been here 4 times, 2 of which have been during COVID times. I like coming for some wine, dessert and the live music. I also recommend the shrimp cocktail! The atmosphere is always fantastic and they're always welcoming.
I went alone since I have a 6hr lay over in the city from LAX to YYZ. They catered my request to be seated beside the window. I ordered a three course meal. It went from the chowder(5/10) the BC Salmon (9/10) and the lemon tart (9/10). The chowder tasted blunt it tasted like a canned chowder. The salmon was really good. The only thing is that the vegetables wasn’t seasoned at all. It taste like water. They need to come up with a better seasoning with their sides plus the rice too was crispy. The dessert was really good since I love lemon!! I just dont like how they over burnt the caramelized sugar on top. That’s it. Overall the service was fantastic unfortunately I forgot the name of my server he was really2 nice. The other server looks like he doesn’t wanna do the job. He was just stuck their cause the needed money. I ate there around 1:30pm to 3pm on October 11. Dont forget to ask if there’s a window seat available. Its nice to ear with views.
The best view of the patio. Food very good. You can choose more than 1 type of seafood, for example crab. Selected from the main dishes: dungeness crab and alaskan king crab. Excellent. Served with asparagus and hot butter. I recommend highly.
Cosy, romantic spot in the upper bar for a quiet drink lunch or dinner. Real wood fireplaces, lovely ambient lighting and the view / twinkly lights of False Creek make it a sweet date spot. Live music for happy hour in the lower bar. Food is good, but it’s the ambiance and the view to come for.
As always, delicious food, amazing staff, and a wonderful overall experience!
I go here for many special occasions. It is one of my absolute favourite seafood spots in town! The oysters are absolutely amazing and I can’t get enough. I’ve ordered the seafood tower a couple of times and it’s so worth it. Get to try a little bit of everything. Their view is astonishing, right over the water and views of the bridges. Such a serene place. Highly recommend!
Fantastic food and even better service. We had an accidental spill and break of a glass and the staff were very empathetic and taught us another way of removing stains by bringing a wet hot cloth and lemon. Absolutely 11/10 service. Highly recommend for the food and for the hospitality
Oyster bay sauvignon blanc, crab cakes, oysters, prawn cocktail and tuna poke appy was at the table quick and tasted yummy but main is over 30 min wait. This is a Sun night, not that busy so no real excuse on the wait!
Dinner
Famous place in Granville island. Unique location. Sit outdoors, under the bridge for the best experience. Friendly staff with vast knowledge. We tried oyster for the first time. Excellent food. Overall highly recommended
Had a great time with our German relative here- friendly staff...excellent food all around. Well done Sandbar!
Tonight was my third time visiting the sandbar and it is by far my favourite restaurant anywhere in the world. Delicious food, A wonderful view of Granville island and an amazing and super helpful staff team. Our server was super friendly, Made some good jokes and recommended us some great choices for dinner! And to top everything off the Manager noticed it was heavily raining and gave me an umbrella to keep so I wouldn’t be waiting for my Uber in the rain!
Tommy did a very good job tonight of serving my girlfriend and I in the patio area. He was extremely personable, he followed all of the Covid protocols, and really made us feel at home in this establishment if I could leave a review above 5 stars for him I would. He went above and beyond to deliver an overall great experience. The food was extremely good, I had the arctic char and my girlfriend had the tuna, both of which were done to perfection. The bus boy with the dark hair medium length who served us and collected our dishes needs to wear his mask properly and not expose his nose and breathe on our food and should be spoken to. Besides that everything was great????
Loved the atmosphere, the service, drinks, appetizers, ambience, etc. We were a group of 9 and we all enjoyed the selection and service. I had the caesar salad before dinner and it was very good. My main course was the seafood hotpot which was delicious and also full of a great variety. It was a great selection and i will return again when in Vancouver. The warm bread and butter accompanied our meal was great.
One of the best places for dinner in Vancouver, and especially on Granville Island. All the seafood dishes are amazing, but I have soft spot for the fish & chips. The cocktails are also all great! Wonderful ambiance, beautiful views, and stellar service. If you’re looking for a nice dinner out with fresh seafood options, the Sandbar is a go-to!
Delicious food, good service, nice views, awesome location, can’t really go wrong. 3 floors and a alternating fresh seafood menu. Good stuff, satisfying drinks. Must try the seafood!! Warm year round patio!
A beautiful atmosphere with stunning views and fabulous menu, great service too
First off I want to say the sable fish was delicious. Dimo was a good server as well. Why the 2 star review. Not an appealing place when you see a mouse running around at your feet. If we weren't starving we would have just left after seeing the Little critter. Makes you question the cleanliness of the restaurant.
I absolutely love this place. Great food and great service. The drinks however could use a little work. I had a old fashioned and they used brown sugar granules that did not dissolve at all. At first the drink was good but towards the end it was unbearably sweet. Had to ask for a drink to be made with simple syrup. But the server did understand and took it off my bill.
Once in a while my partner and I like to treat ourselves and I've never been disappointed coming here. I'm not a foodie in any way but if you're looking to have something nicer than your typical Boston pizza or chain experience this place is a solid play. Nice atmosphere and great food for a special occasion.
This place is an institution in Vancouver. If you like fresh seafood, this is definitely a place for you! Less options for vegetarians but still OK to go for a bite and a drink. The view is spectacular and ambiance very relaxed with a friendly and helpful staff. Definitely worth sitting on the covered outdoor terrace in the second floor!

The experience at The Sandbar was absolutely amazing! We stopped here for lunch back in September and let me tell you, it was the best decision! The hostess working that afternoon, was wonderful & provided us with some excellent recommendations, literally the way she described the dishes got me super excited for lunch (her fav's Black Cod & Artic Char). Once we were taken upstairs, the gentleman at the front table there were super welcoming and everything was operating so smoothly. Once we were seated, we had the pleasure of being served by Omar. Omar is absolutely AMAZING! If the food was delicious, Omar took our experience to the next level with his service. He was super friendly & funny. When we asked Omar for recommendations, he also suggested the items the host suggested so we got the Artic Char & Black Cod, along with a set of oysters. Oysters were delicious, especially the Kusshi oysters. The Artic Char & Black Cod was both absolutely delicious and STILL think about it (that delicious!) All the staff we encountered throughout the restaurant we encountered were all very friendly. We got some drinks (Glass of J Lohr - my fav, some Tequila shots & Cocounut Mojito - delicious). At the end of our meal we were so full and decided not to get dessert but Omar provided us a Chocolate Truffle Cake on the house. I am so glad he did or else we would of missed out on a delicious dessert (FYI - I normally don't like dessert but this takes it!) Even if you can't finish one on your own, get one and share it! It's delicious! If anyone is debating on lunch or dinner, stop debating & go see Omar at The Sandbar!
Great ambiance, impeccable service (seriously, they kept the restaurant open till late for us as we were eating very slow!) and fresh seafood! I just wish it was in downtown instead of kinda-hard-to-get-to Granville Island. (It is totally worth the trip, though!)
I love this place for its ambience and food. Fresh oysters on the half shell, and the shrimp cocktail are great. Crab artichoke dip is good too. Their mains are fresh and well presented. However, eating on the patio in the fresh sea air takes the cake.
Service is very nice. but lobster is vacant and empty inside. Don’t eat lobster. Steak is good. Nice view.

Thank you, Solomon Rise for the awsome service! Your attention to detail and people skills made my experience very special. I love this place!
As is the case every time we head here - which is just about any conceivable time we need/want to celebrate something, this was a fantastic expereince. Leslie, the hostess is a absolutely amazing always making us feel special and that our patronage is appreciated. Our server, Omar, was also exceptional. Very attentive and funny to boot. Thanks Sandbar - we will be back!
TL:DR The Captain served us, was fantastic, food was adequately priced, alcohol menu was well fleshed out except the beer, atmosphere was cool. I brought a date to this restaurant and we were both vaguely confused by the layout, it's not perfectly obvious to get to the patio. We were taken to our table and "The Captain" served us. He was quite charming and personable, eager to solve our problems. The general vibe of the place is kinda Sea shanty-esque, lots of wood and a general nautical theme. We had drinks and an entree each, so the bill ended up being around $200. It was well worth it, but the only hiccup really was the beer menu. It was extremely basic, catering to very average tastes. Nothing pops at all, just like Granville Island and Stanley Park brewing, so definitely don't go here if you like beer. Otherwise, it was a fantastic patio dining experience.
Food was good but my Sable fish (black cod) was way too salty which was very unfortunate for such a nice fish. Thai mussels as appetizer were tasty.
Fabulous! One person in our party from New Orleans got the oysters and was in heaven. Another person.got a steak and devoured it. I got the Baja Chicken salad, and if all salad tssted like this one I'd order them every time. Included figs and guac. They also have extensive cocktail and beer list. Go! Eat! Enjoy!
Dull service. We were seated in the middle although asked for a view, nevertheless the restaurant was half empty. Pizza for kids was just under any standard. Tuna was OK, seafood soup was not tasty at all. Overall we were disappointed.
I’ve always liked this restaurant because of their wide selection of food. But my last visit was not very enjoyable. Firstly, our server was terrible. She said there was Heineken on tap, but there wasn’t. She took 5 minutes scrambling through her papers that fell onto the table to tell us what the soup of the day was. We ordered sushi, and she didn’t bring us necessary items for it - chopsticks, soy sauce, etc. We had to ask for these things. She didn’t bring us any bread at all. We had to ask for it after our appetizers had arrived. Secondly, the sushi is absolutely gross. Please save yourself and don’t order any sushi here. It is mostly rice and very little fish. And the fish tasted rotten. The rest of the food wasn’t as good as it used to be. I’m really upset because I used to enjoy this place. I won’t be trying it again at least for a couple of years. Hope they step it up.
First off I want to say the sable fish was delicious. Dimo was a good server as well. Why the 2 star review. Not an appealing place when you see a mouse running around at your feet. If we weren't starving we would have just left after seeing the Little critter. Makes you question the cleanliness of the restaurant.
We were here on our honeymoon about a month ago. Our hostess was great and made the night much more special for us. The food was amazing, some of the best oysters and fish we have had in Vancouver. The service is what really set them apart though. Really appreciated our hostess (unfortunately don't remember her name ☹)
We decided to dine at Sandbar for DOV and were really impressed with the food and service! Our server Solomon was super attentive and friendly! Our family ordered off the DOV menu, sushi menu and the kids menu and it was all very good. The live music really added to the atmosphere of the restaurant. We'll definitely be back to try their regular menu and try their patio seating when the weather is nicer!
Very nice place to have a date Very nice fresh sea food - service excellent
Excellent food , lot of food options !! And very nice quick friendly service. It was a bit difficult To get a table so recommendation is to make a reservation ahead of time .
If you come visit Granville Island, you must come to the Sandbar. The seafood platter, the tacos, and the fish and chips were all delicious.
Great meal I had the prawns and my wife had the sea bass bird were excellent and we had a great server too
Our new favorite place in Vancouver. What a feast.
Dine in
Went here on a nice sunny evening in Vancouver with the girlfriend. The server was polite, and kind. The meal was quite nice, and the wine was good . Would go again.
Good service great scallops and cauliflower gratin. Oh yeah the view was on point too on this sunny day.
Beautiful scenery, ambience and such delicious food! Plus live music!
Was a solid ok. Food took 1H to arrive and $17 for 8 calamari? ....patio is nice vibes tho. Came back a 2nd time and My friend had a saddest $17 crab cake ????
Salmon was great but Seafood Pasta dish could be improved by adding a variety of seafood rather than just clams.
Absolutely great food and excellent service. The seafood was very fresh and delicious, and the dessert looked and tasted great. Out server was very attentive and cheerful.
Great place to meet up with friends and have a leisurely lunch and good share plates. Nice water views and a great feeling of getting away from the city buzz.
Food was amazing especially the oysters! However if you are on a budget this place will definitely bust it. Expect to spend close to 100$ per person as it is a very touristic spot and it is seafood. One complain I have is that the water that we were serve tasted very metallic, I think it is because of the metal jug they use to refill our glasses.
the prawn spaghetti (off menu item) is SO GOOD. service is better some days than others. the happy hour is only on weekdays and the drinks are a cheap price. the happy hour food is ok but not great. i honestly personally go for the jumbo prawn spaghetti. just sooo good.
Incredible atmosphere, amazing staff (Joel was our server and SO lovely, also Hector was just a blast!). We had an amazing dinner of fresh seafood and we will definitely be back again soon!
If you or your loved one are looking for a great seafood dinner then you have come to the right place. I had the full crab and yeah the price seem kinda high but let me tell you something. If you want great tasting crab that is also an adventure to eat, then this crab is for you. Atmosphere is also great. Do yourself a favor and get your seafood here.
Our experience with this restaurant on Saturday was very poor. We wanted to celebrate our 3 years anniversary with my partner, he asked one week ago to have a table with view on the water. Instead the staff sat us down in the middle of the patio and refused to move us giving us really bad excuses, telling us that they could be fined because of us if they move us while we just sat down and we didn’t even order anything and then telling us that these tables are for the regulars....The service (unfriendly and non accommodating staff), the menu choice and the price were very bad. This is a restaurant / bar that claims to be fancy while quality is mediocre. We just left and went to another restaurant right next to this one, the Bridges, and in terms of menu, service quality and price, it's 10 times better, even the harbor view is better. I do not recommend this place.
Excellent staff and superb food. I had the sablefish which was perfectly prepared. The upper floor is a great place for a group setting with amazing views of False Creek.
Went on a Sunday night and had the Sunday night seafood boil. Everything was perfect - food, drinks, service, atmosphere. Great vibe overall.
The valentines dessert is very special and delicious!
Finally getting to my reviews on my trip to Vancouver! :) great location and service…prefer this joint over Joe forte. Shared food between my boyfriend and I as we are already munching on food from the market! Soup was kind of bland but added some salt and pepper to our tasting! Oysters were fresh and crab cakes was yummy :)
Kinda good. Good view, good for drinking shortly place and server was friendly. but service was slow and she totally forgot our drinks and little bit less tasty food than visual. Also when we enter the restaurant 3~4 people were in the front but no one say hello till when we said we are two.
***UPDATE*** back at the Sandbar again. Many restaurants have suffered through the pandemic with service and food quality. NOT THE SANDBAR. Still outstanding. The food was excellent, so were the cocktails, they havent destroyed the restaurant ambiance with covid stuff it is still great. And possible even better with the screens blocking out conversation from the next table. The pianist was a superstar playing so many great familiar songs, Elton John fans particularly happy. Doug our server was exceptional. He was there when you needed him, was professional, elegant and well mannered without being overbearing. Cant wait ti bring friends and family here as soon as they can start coming to Canada after the pandemic. All the best Excellent food, excellent service, very nice location, reasonably priced.
We had a great server in Omar who made the night with his banter, captivating piano and last but not least, impeccable seafood.
Service
Great ambience, crab cakes, and seared scallops. Mains weren't as impressive unfortunately - did not like our crab which felt extremely plain. Service was inattentive.
Food was great our server was awesome! Food came out faster than expected. A glass of wine and a 1/2 dozen oysters for 20 bucks is a great deal so get it while it lasts! Place was clean and inviting. The live piano player is a nice touch. Had lobster and it was cooked just right. Jumbo Shrimp cocktail was a bit on the high side. Truffle fries was tasty. Rainbow roll was nice and fresh. Overall the restaurant deserves a high rating. Will come back for their happy hour.
Food was fresh and tasty. Service was great. View is fantastic. Will definitely be back
My girlfriend took me out for my birthday and we had an amazing experience. The ambience was beautiful on a Sunday night, live music, some christmas lights up and candles on the table. Really warm, friendly and inviting. Our servers were really nice and helpful with my dietary requirements (celiac disease) but could maybe have checked up on us a little more often towards the end of our meal. Anyone with kids knows that at a certain time, especially past their bedtime, our 21 month old had enough of sitting still and behaving and it was time to go but it took a while to flag down the server at that point. The food was fantastic! The sandbarge platter was excellent. The one complaint I could have made was that there was no butter for the 1/2 crab but it was all very delicious. We also had the mussels in white wine and the truffle and mushroom pizza, which were both delicious as well! The mussels were a little heavy on the garlic, so if you're on a first date make sure you pack some gum or a mint. The gluten free pizza crust tasted good and was nice and thin. Yes, it is a more expensive option in Vancouver but the food and atmosphere were well worth it. While being fancy it is also very kid friendly.
Had a lovely Saturday brunch here. The lox egg Benedict was delicious! Staff very friendly and helpful.
Dinner
Delicious food, our server was amazing! Live Music was great and the atmosphere was delightful. I would note that the TV's were quite distracting as they reflect in the plastic dividers and I could see 3 to 4 different screens at a time, kind of takes away from the beautiful restaurant, music and atmosphere, however we did have a great evening!
Came in yesterday with my partner and mother in law and was blown away by my experience at the sandbar. In my reservations I asked for a nice table near a window and I got exactly that- which I was so grateful for! The staff were super warm, welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure we are taken care of also. The food is DELICIOUS and the price point is very reasonable which makes it even better! Amazing views of Downtown Vancouver just adding to the great experience. Highly recommend the sandbar- I will be back!
Dinner
My third or fourth time at Sandbar. I feel like I remember it being better. The server came with our pitcher of sangria but poured it so fast that I think about 1/4 of our sangria ended up on the table and on the ground. The sangria was washed down because 1/2 the pitcher was ice. My friends ordered the smoked salmon flatbread. We can't say that we would recommend it to anyone it was smoked salmon and cream cheese on tasteless dough. The mussels were ok as well with little to no sauce. I had the cedar plank salmon and I liked the brown sugar glaze on it. It was also perfectly cooked. Overall, a menu that does not experiment and try to be more. I feel that I could get more quality food elsewhere downtoen. I don't think I will be returning soon or at all.
What a great evening!! Food was spectacular, ambiance & live piano/singer was on point. Coconut Hotpot, Mussels, Oysters + wine :) Best choice in a while for our Anniversary dinner. We will be back, hungry.
Small portions, overcooked oysters & crab and artichoke dip, smallest muscles I've ever had. Only thing decent was the crab cake, as in 1 (not pleural). Service was nice. Overpriced and would probably not come back
Love the ambience inside, didn't expect alot from the outside. The food was pretty good and servers very nice. Wanted to try out some fresh seafood in Vancouver. Did not disappoint.
I've been here twice and I've absolutely loved it both times! Stellar food, amazing service, and the view ???? Definitely one of my new favorite restaurants!
Food was fresh and amazing! Great atmosphere and service.
Great service from waiter, over all a lul slow, but was busy, and to be honest the clam chowder had to much potatoe in it, and was a little bland, but I'll totally be back
Excellent service and great food. Had the special “seafood trio” watched them pluck the live shrimp right out the holding tank and cook them right up. Great environment and happening place. Clams looked delicious will get next time I stop by.
I've had lunch here the past weekend, and I've found this place simply amazing. Located just under the bridge and in front of the harbour, the location is perfect, and the interior is warm and cozy, very similar to Cardero's (they are owned by the same company) I've ordered, because of the sunny day, an harvest salad ( I would absolutely recommend it) as an entrée, and than the West Coast Club, and even if it wasn't as I expected, it was really good. Moreover, the waitress was really kind and always available, and this surely contribute to the beautiful experience that I had Unfortunately I haven't tried much of their seafood, but I will surely be back soon to have the chance to try something else
Fantastic food and vibe. This place never let's us down. The appetizers and dinner menus are spot on. I'd highly recommend this place for the food/atmosphere/ price.
It was a cold Sunday night in Vancouver ... well only because I felt like wearing a dress outside but still we stumbled upon Sandbar (we originally wanted to go to last day of Stormcrow) and we were enticed by the wooden oven pizza. They gave us a nice cozy table upstairs (even though we didn't' have reservations) and our server was very nice and accommodating. the portions were smaller than most but it was all delicious. we ordered anything with Truffle in it, the truffle fries and truffle pizza and chocolate truffle for dessert. the view from our table was amazing!
Thanksgiving weekend dinner 2021 at The Sandbar exceeded expectations. Firstly reservations were necessary and easy to procure advance via Open Table. More importantly our server Eric was outstanding. He was technically efficient and super upbeat and fun. The meals were excellent (we all ordered seafood but saw a very generously proportioned traditional Turkey dinner or two served nearby that looked fantastic) and we will return.
honestly best food in the city! they serve the freshest most delicious fish, service is consistently excellent and the VIEWS from the patio! best in the city!
Deep shell oysters my favourite! Cocktail sauce on oysters is just wrong! Lobster dinner was good. The way it was prepared made it a little dry. This is a pricey meal and i did overall enjoyed it. This was more about the location. Serving staff was excellent! You may go and also have the company of the large gull perched on the outside rail looking in.
A great place to stop in for dinner. There was a live piano player, the atmosphere was amazing. Food was so good and the service was spectacular. Would absolutely recommend this spot.
First of all, great location. It's sitting on the side of Granville Island, the second floor has a fabulous harbour view. In winter it offers semi-outdoor patio, which can must be transformed into an amazing deck in summer. However, the food was quite disappointing. We came here for the seafood, ordered a dozen of different kinds of oysters and half lobster. The oysters were all so small and the lobster looked pathetic... Like they were acquired not from the sea but from a creek. $140+ and we barely ate anything. LOL. Location and view +1 Service +1 Food Quality & Presentation - Oyster and Lobster -2 Price vs. Quality -1

Foods great and so was the service. Great place to go whatever the occasion.
Finally the (heated) patio is open and following proper protocols!..the Sand bar has indoor seating as well however we chose to sit where we had a view of False Creek harbour. They have a great selection of appys, mains courses and set meals for 2 focusing on seafood dishes. They also have live music so call for info on the times...
This restaurant violates the statue of Canada law section 3 . Where it discriminates my medical privacy by not allowing me to dine in the establishment if I dont reveal private medical information . The have turned their hostess into a Gestapo officer
My sons and I had great table and enjoyed their seafood..It was pretty ???? cool to think that my grandfather was born here.
Like a casual atmosphere version of the Teahouse and Seasons, but the service is equally as professional. Food is outstanding here, excellent quality and they can deliver a steak exactly as requested. Surprisingly a lot of seating available, but we came here for Sunday brunch so not sure how busy it gets in the evening. Child friendly too, boosters and highchairs available, which helped a lot with two kids. Great view too. Would definitely come back again :)
If you come visit Granville Island, you must come to the Sandbar. The seafood platter, the tacos, and the fish and chips were all delicious. The seafood platter stole the show though, they were so fresh! Whenever my friends or family come over to visit, I always bring them here for a meal. I highly recommend this place but make sure to reserve a table if you do plan on trying this place out!
Friendly service and a huge menu with options for everyone! The fish & chips was actually very light, salmon burger was done perfectly, and the seafood chowder was phenomenal. Definitely a great option in the Granville area.
It's busy no matter when you come here, but as long as you're ok with not getting the best seat there's usually a space for you. Our server was excellent. The food was unreal. The sable fish was great, the salmon was cooked perfect, the …

Wonderful place for our 37th anniversary dinner! Service was smooth and well-timed, relaxed but a good pace. Easily able to complete a leisurely meal within the requested 2 hour limit. Food was also fresh and extremely tasty, and the complementary dessert of chocolate mousse cake with Raspberry sherbet was to die for!
One of the best seafood restaurants in Vancouver! From the moment I entered I felt very welcomed. Servers were friendly and the food was delicious. The cod tasted amazing and everything was fresh
Food was amazing and service was very nice and considerate! We ordered some oysters, prawns and smoked salmon latkes on their brunch menu. Sum in one word, Delicious!
Service
If you are ever in Vancouver, this place is a must. I first tried it in 2009 before the Olympics and I never forgot. Now, I came back and was amazed again. I want to give a big shout out to Ros! She is amazing! The essence of hospitality! A true moment of truth, a dinner I will always remember, even though it was only a party of one! (Your friend from Panamá). The food is delicious, great ambiance with live music, wonderful views, and most of all great food! I had the chef creek oysters and the sable fish with the miso glaze. I highly recommend them; don't forget to pair it with a local BC wine and dessert! Enjoy!
Captain Tom took great care of us on our 25th Anniversary today. Will definatly return and recommend to all. Thanks for a great delicious evening.
I called ahead of time and chatted with a manager regarding food allergies. He was very helpful and assured me that the kitchen would be able to accommodate me. Before ordering, the chef (Kieran), came over to the table and double checked all of the allergies and we discussed what I would be ordering. This was greatly appreciated and I felt confident that he would ensure everything would be prepared accordingly. The food was delicious. We ordered the focaccia bread with oil and balsamic to start, a salmon burger with fries, and a few of the sushi rolls. Our server, Gordon(I'm pretty sure was his name), was amazing and provided exceptional service throughout the night. There was a lady playing the piano and singing, which was a perfect addition to the evening. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend.
Outstanding patio, food, service, and ambience. Loved the crab dip and the sandbarge seafood platter. It was my birthday and they surprised me with a delicious chocolate cake at the end of my meal. I can’t recommend this place enough!
My husband and I had dinner here recently and just loved it! The atmosphere is beautiful but cozy at the same time. There was live music, candles, FANTASTIC service, and the meal was absolutely delicious. I eat a lot of salmon, and the cedar plank salmon here was pretty much perfect! Would definitely recommend this restaurant, and will be back next time we’re on Granville Island!
Atmosphere is terrific, we sat outside. Great view. Service was slow the waitress was very nice but she seemed a bit overwhelmed. The sushi was decent, and the tuna was good as well.
Food and service was good. Not the best value for money but you are at Granville Island so it is to be expected. Our group shared the seafood tower. It was more than enough food. Recommend sitting out on the patio if the weather permits.

Thank you, Solomon Rise for the awsome service! Your attention to detail and people skills made my experience very special. I love this place!
The new oyster bar is great - definitely 5 stars. Went there today for the first time and the oysters and sushi was delicious and the ambiance was superb. Service was great - our bartender/server was super friendly and knowledgeable. The space is really nice. Excellent beer and wine selection. Highly recommend.
Place is unique, great team of people, positive energy, unique ambiance, great bartender (patient), cool sunset, my first time here.
Excellent service by all staff even the manger came out. Food was amazing nicely cooked and flavoured. View was 10/10
Celebrating my wife's birthday ???????? at The sandbar. I had the impossible Burger????, it was a bit of a letdown wasn't very ☹️ tasty beyond meat burgers are way better! My dad had the seafood hot pot ???????????? which he absolutely loved????, my mom had the linguine vongole with clams which she absolutely loved???? and my wife had mixed green salad with fresh prawns???? with a honey lime vinaigrette. They surprised us with New York cheesecake with strawberry compote on top for my wife's birthday which was very tasty. The chocolate dessert wasn't that great though ???? All in all the service was pretty good ???? but they were very slow at bringing our entrees and replacing cutlery. Other than that I'd prob still go back again maybe for a date night ????
We came without a reservation and were seated very quickly on the patio. Digital menus were used, and our food and drinks came quickly. Food was great. The picture is from the patio.
Came here for my anniversary and it was such a delightful experience! So many nice touches that improved our dining experience to the max, from splitting our entree into 2 plates without us mentioning it, to offering us a surprise dessert at the end. The food was also exceptional. If you love mushrooms, you must get the roasted mushroom! The salmon was cooked perfectly as well with great flavour pairings.
Great atmosphere and amazing food. We love this place
Great food, drinks and views. We got window seat under a heater so we were coooozy. Seafood tower a bit expensive for what you get but it’s very Instagram-worthy. Dip bread in the mussel soup and your life is a success.
Had a wonderful evening here and some of the best fish I’ve ever tasted. Beautiful ambiance!
Today was the first time my wife and I have been to the restaurant. We were very impressed with everything from the appetizers ( crab and artichoke dip ????) the artic char was amazing and I would highly recommend it. Our server Doug was phenomenal. Thanks for the great food and service. ????
Party of four and we all had our socks blown off. Tamara was a great server (needs to speak louder), our brussel sprouts were great. The crab cake was incredible, finally a crab cake that doesn't just taste like breadcrumbs and lemon. It had actual crab in it, and lots of it. I ordered and will always order an unagi if available.... it was subtle yet powerful in flavor. The rice was perfectly formed. Each grain was coated in a sweetly acidic dress. The eel was so tender. Hotpot was a authentic and flavorful. Fish and chips was flaky and crisp. My hunter chicken was traditional... very good. Seasoning was absolutely on point. Too any newer cooks... don't forget to season in layers. This was a perfect evening out. Thank you kindly.
Excellent evening here for our last night in Canada - the food was delicious, the ambience was perfect, but what really made the night for us was our server, Doug. He was a fount of knowledge - particularly about wine. He recommended a BC wine - Painted Rock - and it was every bit as special as he said it would be. He took great care of us throughout the evening without being too much, and we were delighted with all his suggestions. Doug is Sandbar's secret weapon - and we had a really lovely evening.
If you love fresh seafood and are touring Granville Island stop in for some oysters or mussles.
A nice place to have lunch on the Island. Tucked away in a cozy area with great views is Sandbar. Service is always very friendly and attentive. Had some lovely fish here. They always have great warm bread and butter. Felt the fish burger could have been a smidge more colorful but flavors were good. Reasonable prices for being on the Island.
Great atmosphere and excellent service! Safe seating arrangements during covid. Heather, our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Food is in good quality and portion. Overall very good experience and recommend it if you are in the area.
The environment was great, the food was good. There was nice pianist / singer playing :)
Great place with amazing atmosphere. They are right by the water so the view is stunning. I liked the vibe. The food was awesome too! I had a carrot soup and fresh oysters when I went, and my bf had the calamari. All very delicious. Would definitely go back!
Wanted to have a nice dinner here. We were told we didn’t have to make a reservation. We showed up and was told we needed a reservation and that there was an hour to two hour wait. We ended up going somewhere else. Next time don’t have such a snotty hostess talking with you. She was rude and very snotty
Delicious seafood we had the Saddle Fish, clam chowder, tuna poké, and fish and chips and everything was delicious, fresh and super high quality. Tip: we went there during happy hour (3-5) and enjoyed $5 beer and $8 wine. Food is not cheap but worth it!
A sushi chef at the bar didnt wear a mask for whole time I was there. Even talked a lot to his staff in front of law fishes..
This place is now very special to me. (I was introduced to my daughter at the Sandbar. I hadn't seen her since she was born, 30+ years ago). The food was rich and flavourful with aromas that were almost dizzying, the atmosphere fantastical the wait staff seriously professional in a very fun way. It is difficult to place a rating on feelings but this place gives me great joy. I/we look very much forward to dining there when ever we can. If you are a fan of sea food the Sandbar, in my humble opinion is off the hook fabulous! Cheers!
This establishment has an amazing view of the bay with some great spinach and crab artichoke dip and crab cakes that are delicious. Make sure to get that patio seat to enjoy the fireplace.
Went for Dineout and I fell in love. Great ambiance and view; service a little slow but staff very friendly and professional. The food was incredible, I couldn't believe the size of the salmon! Dessert was good too but would've preferred a smaller piece, as I was already full by that time. Can't wait to go back and try their famous clam chowder!
We were served beers that were room temperate but in cold glasses. When we sent them back, because frankly, who wants to drink warm beer, the server informed us they knew only 4 lines were running cold. How they thought it was appropriate to serve warm drinks is beyond me. The patio is nice and has a good view. Food was good but oysters, at 4$ each, were expensive. Would not recommend.

The Sandbar is phenomenal! Cool lounge/bar setup. Good food, good drinks, and beautiful views. They also have live music (not sure which nights) but when they do the pianist is so talented!! I'm always so happy if he's there performing while I dine. Such a treat!! I've had mixed service but it's normally good/standard.
Hi, we had the salmon late brunch. Excellent venue, reasonably priced and excellent service by Omar, thank you!
Service
A really great ambiance for a date. Make sure to reserve a table next to the window for an exceptional view. Service is very friendly, although food was a bit of a let down.
Amazing restaurant at an amazing place ( Granville Island). There was some great live music and the dishes were great, the fish was perfect (halibut). The staff was very polite and even brought a glass of milk for someone in our table that ordered a very spice drink
My wife and I went to The Sandbar Seafood Restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and we couldn't have made a better choice. For appetizers, she went for the California rolls and I opted for the clam chowder, which was amazing. For the main course, she chose a pan-seared arctic char and I picked the seafood hot pot, which had fish, prawns, a huge scallop, vegetables and mussels. It was lovely! To finish off, both of us ordered a Belgian chocolate pudding that was on spot (great flavor and not oversweet). To top it off, Omar provided us a fantastic service. He was helpful, attentive, charismatic and extremely kind. He was the cherry on the cake! We went there during their anniversary special, so they had special prices for select dishes (30 to 50% off compared to regular prices). Because of this, our bill came light for the quality and amount of food we had. Important to note that regular prices seem reasonable and in accordance with other nice seafood restaurants (can't tell about drink prices as we hadn't any). Edit: updated to include photos.
The market seafood is magnificent here, especially the black cod, very soft and great taste!
Really great food and ambiance. The oysters were fresh. The crab and artichoke dip was amazing
Service
Love the atmosphere and food is sooo delicious! It can be in a romantic dinner or family lunch, always a great choice.
We were here for our staff Christmas party. This place provides excellent customer service. The food was great. I had the artic char and the fish was so fresh. This is a great place for a group of about 14 people to book a party in a private room.
This review is for Hoshi Sushi, which is a sushi bar inside the Sandbar. I have to say this is easily on the best sushi bars in town. Truly a hidden gem.
Last time I went there was about a year ago and I was little disappointed about the food quality but this time, Im glad I came back again. Our male server was very professional. The sushi was great.
Honestly, this place is awesome open table cancelled my table without me realizing I called them they made things happen. Food was good atmosphere was good for Patio only restaurants like this deserve 5 stars always. I loved the wine and seafood definitely should check this place out.
Meal type
Pasta is tasty. Fish and chip is not good. Clam chowder is average, a little on the sweet side.
Friends took us here while visiting Vancouver and we were not disappointed. We went to Granville Island Brewery while we waited for our table to be ready and once we sat down , the experience was great. The views from the outdoor terrace are great and the terrace is also heated! Oysters were delicious as well as, the bubbles pairing suggested by the server. The spinach dip was alright and so was the halibut but the fish and chips were really tasty! I definitely recommend checking out this restaurant if you happen to go to Granville Island
One of the best sea food restaurants. The Halibut was extremely delicious

Service
One of the best seafood meals ever. Food and service were as amazing as the location. The best spot is the terrace.
One of my go to places to have a fancier meal, I’ve had good services and delicious food here, although not exactly impressed with their desserts, everything else is delicious though.
Terrible service. Food was alright, but it took over an hour. Server didn't check on us and gave us the wrong items.
Great views and great patio even in the cold. They keep it well heated. The West coast club sandwich was weak (bland shrimp but very yummy bacon), their clam chowder was average (lots of clams thouhh). their cioppino was top notch
The ambience, service, drinks + food were all delicious. We were visiting Grenville island for the afternoon (first time there) and stumbled across this spot and so happy we did!! We had wine, martinis, and mojitos for drinks and for food, we shared their smaller seafood platter. The oysters, shrimps, crab and tuna were so fresh!! The sauces accompanying the platter were delicious — all, so good!! Great vibe and overall time!!
Great food, slowish service but then again not rushed so we were able to enjoy are meal. Prices are reasonable
All staff were wearing masks, which is great. When you are seated you are not allowed to “seat hop” which is also good, I felt safe dining there. Ordered the truffle fries, curry, linguine - food was tasty
Delicious food and drinks! Love the patio atmosphere, view and location. Our server Tisha was amazinggggg!!!!
Great experience from the wonderfully friendly host to our server Jordan. He was so professional while being friendly and always knew just when to add his help.
Amazing place, one of the nicest restaurants in the insland. They offer lobsters and king crabs live from the tank.
Great place with almost the best seafood. Great food, great server and i enjoyed it very much
I always thought this place was a bit overrated, but it has improved in my opinion. We came here for a quick bite and enjoyed fresh Alaskan Crab Legs. Unfortunately the crab cake was underwhelming, didn’t seem fresh. Har Gow is frozen and brought in. Avoid that... Overall ok, nice location and good service.
The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. Solomon and Max took care of us over lunch and Matt and Max looked after supper. Great attitudes, friendly and just good people all around. Thank you for making this Saskatchewan couple feel welcome ❤
Unique place with decent food and great service. Very nice place to enjoy scenery and have a few drinks.
I loved the food here! Everything was just so tasty and well worth the money and experience. My friends and I came here for lunch and got the crab an artichoke dip the fried oysters and the seared scallops as appetizers. As our mains we got the sable fish (so tender and silky) and the Huli huli chicken. The fried oysters were so creamy and fried to perfection. I would also like I highly recommend the seared scallops in the truffle butter sauce as well. The whole experience was great from start to end, our service Solomon was very entertaining and was very attentive to us even though the restaurant was very busy at the time. If you plan on coming here I would definitely make reservations ahead of time because it can get busy.
It was great place to be. Nice view… but… the server was terrible. He didn’t even check our table 1 time. It was terrible…
Pretty good seafood. Good service. A little pricey but that’s a given seeing it’s a tourist spot.
Thank you so much to our server Tisha and Brandon the manager for being so attentive and making our 15 anniversary very special. The food was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere very welcoming and special. I really recommend this restaurant for service and fresh food.
Amazing location, ambience, service. Food was a bit below my expectations.
Great place. Staff are very welcoming and accommodating. Truffle pizza, mussels and oysters were wonderful. I don't love the decor but the food and service make it worth it.
Greatest place in the Pacific Northwest to have seafood and cocktails, it's got an open terrace-style dining area with a stunning view of the city.
Sandbar is located in the heart of Granville Island and if you're a seafood lover, this is a must visit! The service is good and food is delicious. They offer a wide range of cocktails and wine and also some local beer. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual or romantic meal.
Service
First timer that popped in on a whim for a Saturday afternoon Happy Hour. We sat at the bar and received great service. The red wine was quite good but the Happy Hour food menu was a bit lacking in options. What we did eat though was delicious.
Just look at this perished cucumber, it pretty much says all about the quality of their food & drinks. Service was very slow too & very overpriced for what they give you!
Overall I was very happy with my experience. I have to say the customer service was the best part of it! From the front desk to the server, simply amazing. If you were lucky enough, you may get to a table by the window which we did, a little bonus to see the beautiful while having a nice meal. I got the GI burger which I thought was ok, tasted like a standard burger. However the fish and chip my fiancee got looked delicious. IMO what stood out the most for me was the fact my coffee was refilled without me asking. I know it's a strange thing to ask for, but who orders coffee and only drinks it once, so I thank you for refilling it 4 times throughout my stay.
We have enjoyed this restaurant for many years and it is our go to for taking out of town visitors to dine. We were very disappointed last week to learn that all of the salmon being served on the menu is now farmed salmon. This has been always been my favourite dish but I ordered sable fish instead as it was wild (and it was delicious). Our server was great and everything else was as it usually is. However knowing that the salmon is not wild will probably prevent us from going back or we will least call before hand to see if this is changed.
I booked a table at the Sandbar for my husband’s birthday and requested for the best view table if possible. And they made it work for us! We sat right by the water! Wonderful food. Delicious desserts. Fantastic service. We had the best night!
Perfect location for a Sunday lunch. If you can sit upstairs on the patio. The Service is amazing and the food wonderful. Chowder to die for!!
We had a great experience at Sandbar. The service was OUTSTANDING and the food was amazing! The prices were very reasonable. Our waitress was Montana and she was so great! Everyone made us feel like we were at home. I will definitely be returning!
Always a treat going to the Sandbar on Grandville Island... The food was awesome and the service spectacular as always. This time we were served by Dimo who had a very pleasant and welcoming demeanor... also very funny and witty. We ordered a variety of food, including Arctic Char, Oysters and Clam Chowder soup and all was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant, not only for the food and service but also the amazing ambiance... hard to beat!
Food 1 for unfresh, dangerous seafood; Ambiance 5 great views live music; Service 2 just because they are young and are trying had to ask for water and never got the bread we requested 3 time for; Mussels were old and bad had to send it back. Glad I had them put the shrimp salad on the side of the club because the shrimp was soggy and bad! Nothing was outstanding except the side salad. 4 people; C$104
Excellent customer service. Kids love the place, everything we order was good.
Food was great. Would recommend the clam chowder and the black cod miso. Service was good but it took them a while to serve our food. All in all great food and ambiance.
Great atmosphere and service! Beets salad was excellent. Side note: if you are a fan of the traditional gnocchi I am not sure you will like their gbochhi (see photos, looks like salad).
Great restaurant, nice view if you can seat by the window, great professional service ????and very good quality food.
Solomon was a pleasure to be served by. The sandbar seafood tower was nice and fresh, the lobster was cleaned properly and the oysters were very fresh
Great views and staff. Oysters were fabulous. Black miso cod was also nice. The scallops were slighy bland. Would recommend a visit.
What great service, great food and great ambiance!

Best fish I’ve ever had. I had the sablefish which was the softest, most buttery fish I’ve ever had. My friends ordered the halibut and they also said it’s the best fish they’ve ever had. I love the view from the patio. Really excellent service as well, very friendly staff.
Had such a great time lastnight with friends from Toronto. Kids loved writing thier names on the oysters and adding to the pile. Thank you❤
Top notch service. Very solid food. A bit tacky and large but overall an enjoyable experience.
The menu, view and ambiance is great at this restaurant. The wait times in the summer are just unbearable! We arrived at 7:25 on Tuesday and were told it’ll be 1:15h wait to get our sitting on the patio (they don’t take reservations for the patio and in Covid times I was uncomfortable sitting inside). I heard them saying to the other customers that they have a 2h dining window. When we arrived in 1:15h, they said previous customers at whose table our party were intending to sit at have overstayed for 50 min over time and are still there. By the time we sat at our table it was 9pm. The restaurant closes at 10 pm. Our hopes for sunset dining on the patio went flat. It was a special dinner for us that turned not so special unfortunately. If I were the Sandbar management, I would make sure my servers kindly remind customers about the 2h sitting window closer to the end of this window and that other customers are waiting for the table. When I asked the front desk staff if they said something to the previous guests, they said No but they hope they’d be leaving very soon. I don’t think I’ll be returning to this restaurant in the summer. Or if you do, prepare to wait for 1.5h and have a sandwich or something else to tie you over until your very late-night dinner.
Excellent restaurant with great daily features. Our favourite was the coconut seafood curry dish that was recommended by our great server, Zac, who was terrific. It someone orders the seafood dish, please order a side of rice, this should totally be included (increase the price, no problem), but it should be included as I couldn't imagine eating that just on its own. Beautiful atmosphere, there are stairs to go up but a beautiful view of the water.
Great food couldn't ask for better service. Love the rustic feel. Ambient music was very nice.
The location's really nice. Good overlooking view. Very homey feels. Great customer service but I'm expecting more of the taste. I'm a little bit disappointed. Looking for seafood pasta but none on the menu. I was born on the tropical island where there's abundance in seafoods, the taste and quality is just plain for me. There's probably more good wine than appealing food selections. It's still a good experience to try it. 4 stars for great customer service.
The service was top notch and the food had good flavors. Thank you ???? all at Sandbar.
It was a family outing, nothing special, yet the staff made us feel like family; they were attentive, prompt and courteous. Our drinks and meal came soon after we placed our orders, so we didn't have to wait much, even though the place was bustling. We had the calamari and fried oysters appetizers and sesame crusted tuna entree, and everything was outstanding. Thank you to our server Omar for the delicious recommendations. Also, thank you Kirsten, for keeping our water glasses full and promptly removing empty dishes. It was an enjoyable experience that we will soon repeat.
Nice view, good food, live music, and friendly services.
Really good dinning experience in the heart of Vancouver with stunning view of False Creek.
The food was amazing. Thank you Zahmayne for wonderful service to end a great night with friends. It was great to have a waiter who checked on you regularly was fast and efficient with the service and a delight to have a quick chat with after our meal. This was my second time here but he made it worthwhile. I will definitely return.
I came here with my family and everyone had different opinions! My dad LOVED the tuna bowl he commented “it’s not just food, it’s an experience”, while my brother, mom and I shared the happy hour plates. The Thai mussels has peppers in it... it has a very strong pepper taste, the ahi tuna poke was basic.. nothing special however really enjoyed the coconut shrimp. It was lightly battered; not too oily! A really great crunch. FYI dining room doesn’t not serve happy hour plates!
The amenities are amazing and the water view is gorgeous. The plates were delayed for about one hour and too salty, when we have asked about the time for the customer service there was no explanation.
This restaurant easily makes my top 5 list in Vancouver. We are huge fans of the brunch and seafood towers here. Do not skip the Caesars if you brunch here! The staff is incredible, the views are amazing and the food never ever disappoints. We have rented the private rooms on a couple occasions and have always had great food and service there as well. Highly recommend.
My girlfriend and I decided to take a last minute drive here after work for a nice night out and it was fantastic. We had no reservation and were still lucky enough to be seated at the bar. Our server was absolutely amazing and attentive, friendly and professional. He recommended me a great lager to start and reminded us what a bit of normal feels like again. He had a 10/10 personality and the people next to us definitely agreed. It's worth coming for service like that alone! The food itself was absolutely fantastic! We had a mix of things, clam chowder, shrimp dumplings, fried oysters, and the amazing Sandbarge full of fresh seafood. Overall it was an absolutely wonderful experience and we will be back
I have been here numerous times and have always enjoyed myself. Last time I had the scallops and they were awesome. Oysters are always a good call here as well.
AMAZING! BEST FISH AND CHIPS IVE HAD IN THE PROVINCE!!! Try the clam chowder as well! In general this place is awesome!
We went to the Sandbar twice. The first time 2 months ago, we arrived there close to noon, the restaurant accepted us quickly, and we had a perfect time. My husband ordered a mojito, and according to him, the best mojito he ever tried (and, believe me, he tried A LOT). We tried the Crab and Artichoke dip, my husband had the halibut, my son had the salmon and I also had the salmon. Everything was fresh, well served and very very tasty. The second time last weekend, we arrived quite late for lunch, close to 3 PM, yet it was not a busy time. We wait for almost 30 minutes, and my feeling was that they forgot about us. When I decided to complain, in one minute, the table was ready. The waitress apologize to me then she told me that maybe I misunderstood the reservation time. I didn't, I swear, I received a message with the exact day and time. In the end, I don't know, maybe because of the waiting time, or maybe because she told me I was wrong, my experience was completely different. We were starving, the order took a lot of time to be ready, the food was not that great... I'm giving three stars just to be fair with my first impression, although I'm not planning to return there soon.
The fish and chips was really nice decently cooked, I feel my cocktail could have been a bit more sweeter but other than that it was pretty nice a cool vibe to the restaurant, and the live music was great
That was one of my best experience. Food, service, location were all excellent. It was a busy day and we did not have reservations but after 30 minutes they gave us a table in patio in the best location possible. Our waiter was so nice and knowledgeable and friendly. Food was amazing. We ordered the halibut fish and hot pot sea food with artichoke dip and octopus as appetizer. All were great. A bit on a pricey side but worth it as we got very high quality food.
If you love seafood, you should try this place. There are some vegetarian options as well, like pizza or a vegan burger. The outdoor seating on the second floor has a lovely view because it overlooks the river. For 4 people's meals, it costed around $130 dollars excluding tip so it is a little bit more on the expensive side. However, it might be worth it if you have a strong seafood craving.
Live music here, very relaxing. Fried seafood are fresh but sauce a bit weird. Halibut taste great and fresh. But the main dish took long time to arrive... Waitress is nice.
Great food (including vegetarian and vegan), and a fantastic location with a stunning view
Our servers were very knowledgeable and despite being a large group, our main server was able to get all of our orders right and even make some delicious recommendations! The people who worked there were really good at what they do. We were looked after by multiple staff and it was impeccable. We sat beside a fireplace (they have many of those) and the food, the music, the ambience and the location were perfect. I've recommended Sandbar to my friends that have plans to visit Vancouver because it really is worth checking out.
We went to The Sandbar during dine out Vancouver. We haven’t driven into Vancouver to dine in a long time, or dined out anywhere much for that matter. We felt very safe at The Sandbar. Tables where very well spaced and they all followed safety protocols. On top of feeling very comfortable with Covid safety, the food was fantastic! We all ordered the Dine Out Vancouver menu. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious! Our server server, Jordan, was excellent too. Thanks for a wonderful evening out.
This place was great! Really good service! Delicious food! And beautiful views! I would definitely recommend going here!
This place is honestly one of our favorites! The food is always delicious and fresh, the service is warm, fun and professional, and the atmosphere and view is phenomenal. If you're in Grandville this is the only place I always recommend.
Absolutely loved The SandBar, the atmosphere is lovely, and the staff are so kind and friendly. We actually called up last minute and even though they were busy they managed to fit us in which was great! We both ordered drinks and not knowing what I was ordering, Tommy, the waiter was so knowledgeable on the drink and food menu, he also was friendly and personal which is nice to see because normally waiters are quite fake. We ordered jumbo prawn cocktail to start which was great and a wonderful starter, I had the linguine vongole which was amazing, and by far the best pasta I’ve had. We are so excited to come back, thank you for having us!
Our waiter (Dylan?) was great, but, arrived at 5:00pm asked for table with view and the pic is the view we got, even though there was 4 other empty tables with better view. And the lady had the audacity to tell us they are comfy chairs and we will be able to look in each others eyes, wth I look at my husbands eyes all the time I wanted to look at the views of the water. I should of said something!! Also, DO NOT order the lobster, very bland tasting and tough. Very disappointed thought this would be a great restaurant to end our night in Vancouver, I was sooo wrong!!!
Excellent experience! The food was really good, live music, and a very open feeling. I loved the high ceiling and decor
Great atmosphere, service and food! One of my favorite restaurants in the city.
Fantastic restaurant right in the hart of Granville Island, the seafood is top drawer, I recommend the ahi tuna, their is something for everyone on this menu, an excellent wine list, if you get a chance try to get on the patio you won’t regret it the view is the best in the city, great atmosphere, friendly knowledgeable staff, all in all a great place to take your family or for your night out on he town
Cozy ambiance, live music, palatable food. The highlight of my meal was the cheesecake. Excellent venue for a date night or friends and family gathering. Will return.
Sandbar's a classic! Came here for my 1 year wedding anniversary the staff was superb! Waa seated right by the window with complimentary bubbly. And thy finished our lunch off with a slice of their chocolate cake! ???? thanks Sandbar!
Excellent food and service. Came here with my family and our server made us laugh and actively engaged with us throughout our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in town.
This place was phenomenal and the service was impeccable the salmon was cooked perfectly and the oysters were delicious
Great atmosphere, service was good and the food was acceptable. Fish was delicious, but Our fries were semi warm, yes we could of asked for newer hotter fries but it’s not something we should have to ask. This is a great restaurant so our expectations are high and we will certainly go again…. Absolutely:)
Absolutely a wonderful experience, with great food and the waiter was perfect (I dont say that often). The view was spectacular as well!
This a must eat when you go to Vancouver. Sitting on the outdoor seating area upstairs is really nice and let’s you soak in the coast while enjoying some great seafood. The oysters were super fresh and the fish was the best I had my entire stay in Vancouver.
Ordered the cedar plank salmon for lunch here. Service was impeccable and the fish was cooked to perfection. An absolutely delightful meal.
Really nice building and atmosphere, not to mention a great selection of fresh seafood dishes. I've been here a few times and it's always been a treat, the service has always been very good. Most recently I was here and the server took a little while to get my table started with drinks and our food orders. It wasn't a big deal and I wasn't even going to complain about it and to my surprise at the end of the night the manager comp'd a significant item for the table and apologized for the delay. I was shocked at how dedicated they where to providing great service, very few places would have even considered that a problem.
We had lunch at the Sandbar Seafood restaurant. The service was excellent as was the food and the ambience. The restaurant on Granville island is right on the waterfront on False Creek. Great views and a place to meet up with friends and socialize.
Food is well above average and the prices reasonable. I would recommend it as an upper end seafood joint.
I've had the pleasure of visiting Sandbar a few times this year. A perfect dining experience in every way. My waiter recommended the black cod for my next visit. Looking forward to returning.
Will definitely be back, we had a great time with some really amazing food! Can't wait to go back for more!
It's busy no matter when you come here, but as long as you're ok with not getting the best seat there's usually a space for you. Our server was excellent. The food was unreal. The sable fish was great, the salmon was cooked perfect, the prawns were awesome. Can't say enough good about this place. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves seafood or wants to try out something new.
Great friendly service and great food. Took some family from out of town here they were wishing for deep fried halibut. Sandbar had halibut on the menu but not deep fried they are so sweet they special made deep fried halibut for my family and we really appreciated that ???? if you like seafood I would definately recommend this restaurant, amazing!!
Sitting by a fireplace in comfy armchairs, it was a cosy dinner on a cold and rainy day. The food was tasty, I had the clam chowder and black cod, everything was delicious. The service was friendly and not over the top nor fake as you can experience in some other restaurants.
Dinner
Absolutely outstanding service and great, fresh, well-prepared food. Went for my wife's birthday and couldn't have asked for more. A dozen oysters, two entrees and a glass of wine came out to around $150, but the sting was taken out a bit by the complementary birthday cake slice which was delicious. A bit too noisy for our liking, but the staff recommended a quieter section if we were to come back, which was appreciated.
Excellent Poke Bowl. Great wine plus oysters. Warm ambience by the fireplace. Impeccable service!
One of the best seafood restaurants I've ever been in my life. Everything is amazing. The waitress was really nice and careful about we having a wonderful dinner. You know when you leave a restaurant and even after giving 20% tip in cash, you left thinking you didn't give enough?? Haha The dishes are simply delicious, all dishes we ordered were marked as fresh and they didn't disappoint. I'm definitely coming back more often.
We had one of our best dates here, sable fish was unbelievable and our clam chowder was divine. Our server was super accommodating, even kind enough to help take our picture infront of the gorgeous view
Nice seafood restaurant, quite happy for the food. Staffs are very welcoming, efficient and friendly! Recommend!
Fantastic dinner. Could decide on the ???? or the ???? so I had both
I loved the food here! Everything was just so tasty and well worth the money and experience. My friends and I came here for lunch and got the crab an artichoke dip the fried oysters and the seared scallops as appetizers.
We’ve been here twice and absolutely loved it. The service was great and the food was delicious. Even the kids enjoyed it. We had the seafood tower and the seafood hot pot. More then enough food for 2 adults
I would definitely recommend this spot! They have always had such fresh seafood and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The service is top notch. We recently had dinner on their nice patio upstairs and enjoyed it! We ordered the seafood hotpot, fresh oysters and the sushi and sashimi platter. All in all, a great experience. I will say, however, the seafood hotpot has far less fish in it than it used to. I’ve been ordering this dish for years and there’s normally very generous pieces and amounts of salmon and other fish and veggies in it, but not this time. Either they’ve started reducing the expensive proteins or I just got unlucky.
Of my 5 stars, I am giving one star for the aesthetic of the restaurant which was nice, they seated us on the heated rooftop patio. The other star for the server who was nice. We ordered the sandbar tower which costs $128 so we were expecting something great. Presentation was nice, but the food was awful. It was the most bland seafood I have ever eaten and I grew up on seafood. The lobster and crab had no flavour, and the butter you get for dipping is plain unsalted butter so that didn't help. For the most expensive thing on the menu I expected way better. It threw me off of ordering any other seafood in Vancouver because it was that bad.
With a 2 and 3 yr old at home, it’s great to get out. Date night tonight is a delicious dinner at Sandbar followed by a play on the Granville stage. Fresh seafood was comprised of sable fish and sea bass with their famous jasmine rice and root vegetables. Topped off with a mouth watering truffle chocolate cake. And an amazing view:)
Our server today was a middle aged long haired gentleman. Besides being good at his job, very attentive, quick on the feet,He has a great attitude and would be a pleasure to work with in any industry. Sandbar is lucky to have em ????
Love the service, atmosphere and of course the food. I had the fresh sockeye and my girlfriend had the scallops and prawns. Amazing. Definitely also enjoyed this creme brulee
My friends and I had dinner. The ambience was really nice. The food were brilliant. I enjoyed it with live music,it was amazing. Our server Rob was very friendly. All in all it was a great experience.
Wow! This restaurant is on Granville Island and the views here are stunning. The food is excellent and so flavourful. They have many tasty options. Their steak snd seafood are amazing. The service is absolutely outstanding. It's where we like to go for a special date night.
Our server wasn't the greatest (a bit slow) but the food was great! Had the swordfish and it was a tasty new experience.
If I could rate higher than 5 stars I would. Me and my wife choose the Sandbar for our first wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked into until we left we were taken care of and treated so wonderfully. The hostesses and host were so friendly and welcoming when we walked in. Our server Raj was amazing. Raj made some amazing recommendations, really knew his stuff in regards to the menu, was so personable and definitely made our experience at the Sandbar fantastic. The staff knew it was a special day and we had a number of different managers come up and wish us a "happy anniversary" and they were kind and generous enough to comp us a delicious mocktail (we don't drink), and a little tuna thing (it was delicious). The food itself was fantastic, super fresh and super delicious. The view was beautiful, the ambiance of the restaurant was on point and we could not have asked for a better place to have celebrated our special day. Thank you so much for the fabulous experience we will definitely be back!!
A beautiful view, above and beyond service and some of the best salmon ive ever had. I dont think you could find a better restaurant without paying thousands of dollars
(Vancouver Banned indoor dinning until end of May) May 10 was our 18th anniversary, we specially planned to take our daughter with us to celebrate on this special day, I specially booked a table ONE MONTH ago and asked for the closer sea view on the patio dinning. When we arrived the gentleman showed us our table and it was so disappointed, it was a far distance to the sea view (almost at the center of the patio), but close to the fireplace, he said this is the best seats booked for us. (We booked the table one months ago and asked to be seated beside the glass fence?!). then I saw TWO empty tables beside the glass fence in which you can have a better sea view, one of the table was 2 seats and the other one was 4 seats, we have 3 people and I asked to change table, but the gentleman immediately said that the bigger table are very cold at the far up corner, and once we changed we cannot switch table because they were very busy on that day (Monday, May 10th), on the other hand dinning was only for 1.5 hours and again they were very busy. (OK! I regret to choose your restaurant on our anniversary day). At last I decided to change, it was a little cold but lucky we all have our Jacket to get ready for the weather. If you have been to Sandbar, you will know, all the side table with closer sea view on the patio are changeable, they can add a table and make it from 2 seats to 4 seats, when we arrived a couple already seated at the corner with the best view, another empty table is 2 seats which also has a good view to the sea beside the glass fence, but the gentleman has no intention to change it from 2 to 4 seats for us, what a disappointed day, why I booked the table one month ago, I can just walk in and got a table on the patio, booking didn't make any difference on an anniversary day. We finally seated at the far up corner beside the glass fence, has a distance sea view with cool air, my daughter is only 12 years ago, she is so upset as she has a high hope to her first sea view dinning. Anyway, we only have ONE 18th anniversary, we cannot let your disappointed booking arrangement ruined our day, we did make our day happy on our own, I just let all the others know how professional you are. Sandbar Seafood Restaurant taught me a lesson, (in reality) this is only YOUR special day and not the restaurant's special day.
Enjoyed my dine out experience here! I loved the gelato and the seafood bisque.
Every time I go I order the Arctic Char. It’s so amazing. This time we ordered the black cod. Now I have a dilemma. I dont know which one to choose for my next visit. Amazing amazing food. Ambiance is great. Service is friendly and quick.
Went for my birthday dinner, the food was amazing. I've never had scallops as soft as the ones here. 10/10 recommend. Lovely live piano was being played. A bit loud if your sitting close by.
Great ambiance, beautiful building. The staff were friendly and professional. They cheerfully accommodated our large group, including some last minute shuffling as additional people joined. The Crush (private room) was beautiful and fit our group well. They were able to handle individual bills for a group of 20 and splitting items among people upon request. The food was delicious, and the live music was an added bonus. Beautiful music, lovely people, and all at a volume that was conducive to dining and conversation.
Incredible ambiance, amazing service, a great view from the patio and the food was delicious. I am definitely going again!
It was amazing. I must go second time. Unfortunately the piano performance starts at 19:00 which is a little bit late for me since I am 1.5 hours there. But next time for sure will stay late and listen. Guita is at the beginning the real reason to attract me. Then found out food is more nicer.
Someone else was paying so that always makes it better. Staff were great, food was fine, nothing really extraordinary but cooked well. Cocktails were delicious too.
This restaurant is such a amazing place, I can't believe I have not been here before! The atmosphere is incredible and the staff go above and beyond, especially Brandon the manager was so courteous and friendly to make it a truly unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommend the lobster and the mussels!! Must go if haven't been and will return again.
I have visited this place before, I’m not new to this place, but my last visit yesterday was disappointing to say the least. First off, the beer was not authentic. I ordered their Hazy IPA, but when served, it didn’t taste like an IPA at all! I’m a beer drinker so I know what an IPA is! I ignored this cause we were celebrating a birthday and didn want to ruin our day. I ordered their FAT Tug IPA afterwards. Upon tasting it, it tasted more like a smooth lager than a Fat Tug, which is really dark. The server told me he might have got it wrong, so he brought a second glass, but that was nowhere close to a Fat Tug IPA either. Again, I didn’t complain cause the server was trying to help but he couldn’t do much because their beer was the problem and he couldn’t do much abt it! I Then I ordered a caesar salad. I was surprised to see it only came with some lettuce and bread crumbs!!! No chicken breast strips!!! What did you guys think to yourself?! This is really disrespectful! And they charged me 15 dollars for it!!! i mean 15$ for a bowl of lettuce!!! And 5-6 bread crumbs! To complete the less than pleasant experience, I ordered their Truffle Mushroom Pizza. The portion was super small and we were charged 20$ for it. I mean we have all had pizzas before. For 20$, at least you don expect to leave the place hungry!!! I even asked the server how big the portion was before ordering, he said it’s a round pizza in 8 pieces. What we got was a slim rectangular pizza that was not fulfilling at all! I’m really disappointed and feel less than impressed with the service and the food. I think Covid has hit the restaurant hard and they are trying to cut down on food portions and beer quality yo make up! I also forgot to mention the “Big Jumbo Prawns” portion that we ordered for starters. We were charged 14$ for 4 small prawns with a very ordinary taste. Neither the taste or the portion justified the price. I am going to keep the review here and expect to hear back from the restaurant management to see why this happened!
What a great place for fresh seafood in Vancouver! Nice ambience, great service!
Inconsistent staff, mostly rude and ignorant. Food was alright, nothing spectacular. However Max needs a huge promotion for being so warm, caring and friendly. We had a lovely conversation and I wish him the best
The hostess dealt with my family's extremely loud and demanding needs. Great variety of options and all were great. The availability of sushi is great! Love the salmon nigiri!
My friend and I took the same plate and both been sick after!!! The food was tasting good but being sick it’s not acceptable for a 35$ +plate.
Amazing crab cake and the waiter helped me pick a halibut dish which was the best fish I had on my trip in BC. It was unfortunate that we found multiple brush bristles but the waiter and manager handled it without any hesitation.
"We're running a two hour seating limit." Hopefully it doesn't count when you have to wait about THIRTY MINUTES between the appetizer and main course. The food was good, but not THAT good to wait that long for it.
Service
Meal type
Great seafood, highly recommended. Great service. Pricey on certain items.
If not for the bit of a hiccup at the start of serving us or not for happy hour (we got served) this would have been a 5 star review including my love of our server who dropped a whole plate of glassware by accident and made us our favourite human of the day. My VanCity gal pal recommended this place and this Toronto native is eternally grateful! Great space, warm, friendly with killer views of Granville island and the harbour. Food. Sublime, tasty and super fresh. From the Wok squid, seafood hot pot, fresh oysters from across Canada, ahi tuna poke bowl, the Arctic Char to the legendary (totally ordering this next time) sublime buttery sable fish (OMG!!!) the food was simply wonderful. Great selection of local wines and just overall, a great spot!
Very good service and food. We all ordered fish plates and everyone was complimentary of their fish selection. The crab cakes were delicious and my BC salmon was very good. If you’re visiting Granville Island Vancouver, highly recommend.
Great water view and customer service. It gets really busy at this place so I recommend making a reservation (you can also request for a seat at the corner of the balcony for the water view). I thought the food could be slightly better in terms of tastes, but the salmon steak I ordered was cooked perfectly.
I’ve been to the SandBar numerous times, and have never been disappointed. The patio is one of the best, rain or shine, with fireplaces and heaters. Service is fantastic, especially if you are lucky enough to be served by Tommy the “Captain”!
I have to day that this is one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver. The reason for the 4 star review is because last night I had dinner there and the coconut dessert tasted like it had been in a fridge for a couple of days, the seared tuna was way too cold and the chardonay was also way too cold for a white wine to be enjoyable.
Amazing atmosphere and great views. Hot fresh bread and good attention to detail with presentation. Food was very good.
The food was incredible, I loved the mushroom, truffle pizza and the Poke bowl. The service was exception…Doug was our server and made the experience even better. Delicious food, fabulous staff and a beautiful view. Highly recommend.
Live entertainment, delicious food, the perfect night out!
The Sandbar is great, but the online reservation system could be better. Tried to book lunch for a table of 5, but said the party is to big, and I have to call in.....come on
Best seafood I have ever had. Fresh oyster for chucking, perfectly cooked salmon/tuna/sablefish, and who could forget to mention the lobster tails and king crab legs. Excellent courteous and professional staff. Live music during dinner. Nothing short of amazing.
We got the Sandbar Tower, it's good for 2. Don't get this if you're here on a first date. The lobster and crabs are a bit messy to eat ????
Great location. The ahi tuna melted in my mouth. I came back here twice in one week and ate the same thing. Price is worth it given it's Vancouver
Yesterday I called Sandbar to book a table for two person, I talked with Hector and asked him to a table in patio for 7:00PM, he told it is full booked that time and 8:00 is available, I also asked him to try his best for getting a table with view and he replied he will put a note on the reservation, I also provided my full name, telephone and our conversation took almost 5min with Mr. Hector ...Guess what happened when we arrived at 7:45PM, there was no reservation under my name! reception asked me again the same information to do new reservation and we had to wait 45min to get table or sit on the table at entrance of the patio! THANKS HECTOR! that was not all, they told we can scan the bar-code for seeing the Menu, but the problem was the bar-code was not clear and does not connect to the Menu link! I ordered Habulet with potato, the dish came with rice instead of potato and to be honest it was disappointing, I dont know what happened to Sandbar, but definitely it is not old Sandbar that I loved it.
Great sea food restaurant with professional service in granville island. I absolutely love the ambiance, decoration and view of this place. I highly recommend this place to both local residents and visitors to Vancouver!
We were introduced to sandbar during COVID. Our friends love it and said we had to try it out. They were not wrong great service ask our seafood feast was amazing. My wife and my first time trying raw oysters! All the food was delicious and we have been back since. Great location and great restaurant!
Had one of the most delicious seafood meals here! Better than many other acclaimed seafood restaurants in Vancouver. We had the crab crusted ling cod, seared tuna, wok squid, truffle fries, and clam chowder. The cod was a generous size and it was cooked perfectly, tender and moist and pretty much on par with my recent dinning experience in France. The crab meat crust added a nice texture and an extra layer of flavour to it, yet not overpowering. The squid was very thinly breaded and deep fried, then wok fried with some spices. It's surprisingly tender and flavorful, and served in very satisfying big bite size instead of small rings. Best ”calamari” I’ve ever had. Highly recommended all the dishes mention above, worth every dollar spent, and I will absolutely come back. Our server Heather was also very attentive, friendly and gave great suggestions on food.
I love the location, decor, atmosphere, and food here. And the piano player has an impressive repertoire of 70s classics. This where I take out-of-town visitors to show off Vancouver. It always feels festive here regardless of the time of year.
Great venue, the patio and view is excellent; good covid protocols in place, theres plexiglass between tables with adequate spacing. 2hr time limit which is fine. The food is great and they serve whats available fresh for seafood/shellfish. Service is excellent, servers are courteous and respectful and wear masks.
Fresh oysters, as briny as you want 'em. I ordered one of the local varieties and went to heaven. Also enjoyed the halibut, which had surprisingly tasty side veggies and rice. Fireplace was also a huge plus, as was the friendly staff. Location is very convenient, taxi stand right out front. Beautiful views of the city from the upper level seating.
The food is amazing but I don't think anything can compare to the view from the balcony at night. This is my favourite restaurant in Vancouver. Try the fresh oyster.
Yum! This restaurant had a great atmosphere, delightful service, and delicious food. It's a definite restaurant to hit if you're staying on Granville Island. There's a live piano player which adds to the smooth feel of the restaurant. Our meals were on-point. I tried the seafood hot pot; while it needed a a little salt, I loved it. We had oysters that were so fresh and tasty, and the sushi items were scrumptious! We ended up staying after dinner for a drink and to enjoy the live piano music. What a great place!
Dine in
I went alone since I have a 6hr lay over in the city from LAX to YYZ. They catered my request to be seated beside the window. I ordered a three course meal. It went from the chowder(5/10) the BC Salmon (9/10) and the lemon tart (9/10). The …
A returning patron. Absolutely love the food drink and service here.
The seafoods were delicious ???? Very charming place and cute area !
Great dinning atmosphere with great service ???? Our server Jorden, and the restaurant manager Jeremy were delivering excellent dinning experience. Thank you both for five -star service !!!
Good food and service. Love music was a nice touch!
If you're in Granville Island make sure to visit this place and check out the outdoor patio under the bridge. The food is great and always fresh. #OnGoogleMaps @googlemaps #LetsGuide @googlelocalguides #604 #VanCity #Food On Insta: @604gmendoza
Dine in
Food was great, but service was terrible. We came in for a quick lunch and our waiter seemed to be upset that we didn’t order more. The food (oysters and prawns) took over 45mins to come out, with no updates given and nobody checking in with us. When we asked for the bill, it took our waiter another 15 minutes to bring it. We would have gladly ordered more, but didn’t want to keep waiting even longer. What a shame, because the food is good and the interiors are nice.
I went there for a lunch date and I would go again. We had a view of the harbour. The waiter was excellent for wine pairings. The ambience was very relaxing.
Great crab cakes and ahi tuna.
I've been going to the Sandbar for as long as it's been open. We've had many enjoyable experiences there. Unfortunately the last time there the young fellow who seated us was very rude, seating us at the bar when there were vacant tables. This limited our choice of menu items, hoping to have the Tower to share. We will wait until this Covit event has passed before returning as the food has suffered, not as fresh as before and friendly service of some detracts from the experience.
Very nice food and view, a bit pricy tho
From the bubbly front desk, the delicious food, the beautiful views, and wonderful service all around, the Sandbar is my go-to, perfect spot. It is very busy in the summer so be sure to make a reservation a few days prior (maybe even a week beforehand) to avoid any disappointment. I had requested for a patio table but was informed of the a long wait as they only had a few tables on their patio due to half capacity and social distancing; I was offered to be put on the wait if desired but since I had made a reservation, I was saved a dining room table inside which I was okay to dine in right away. They still have protective barriers, hand sanitizer all around, and great distance between tables inside so I felt very safe dining within the restaurant. There appears to be lots of team work between servers and assistance staff and everyone seemed to really enjoy being there which makes the world of a difference. Our server answered all the questions we had about the menu confidently and made wonderful suggestions. Whether you are looking for a quick bite with a one of a kind view, a cute date night spot, or a family reunion venue - I highly suggest the Sandbar.
Excellent service and fresh seafood, and a nice view of the Burrard inlet. It's a romantic place to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset.
We make it a top priority to visit the Sandbar each time we’re out West. Having been 5-6 times, I have never been disappointed with anything from the menu.
It's pretty good. The MOOD is awesome... but the amount of food is... not really awesome....
The best patio in the city! We had a wonderful happy hour and a great service as well. / It is always really nice to take the seabus to arrive over there. /
Thank you Brandon for making our last night in Vancouver such a treat! From the moment we were seated on the second floor of this stunning restaurant, we knew we had picked a good one. We caught a taxi to the Granville Markets, yet there was plenty of parking. Even though the Sand-Bar was filled with customers, we did not feel over-crowded and had plenty of privacy. The view was stunning and the bar was well stocked - two things that matter to us. All of the food was super fresh and delightfully tasty. My partner and I tried something new to us, sable fish, and we were so happy with our choices. To top it all off we were served by Brandon, who is not only professional and courteous, he also has a genuine good nature and infectious smile. His recommendations and knowledge of the produce on offer was extraordinary. Thank you for making our last night is beautiful Vancouver so memorable.
I recommend coming here for happy hour! Great view, and great food- we had the deep fried avocado, the mussels and other appies. Recommend the mussels for sure!
Came here with family and they were able to accommodate a large group as we had beat the crowd. First hand our waitress was great - she was very good at explaining the menu. We ordered a bunch of items and the food came out quick. I ordered the truffled parmesan fries along with the blackened fish tacos. I would definitely recommend. I would also recommend the GI Burger which I've ordered in the past. I guess my only criticism is that we didn't have a great view out on the upper patio and that the presentation of the food wasn't amazing. Overall food is great and service is great. Would recommend to anyone who's looking for good food in Granville Island.
Food it taste good, price is affordable, ambiance is so nice it can be romantic for couple on date. We celebrate a bday dinner and we got a free bday dessert.
Really nice people and the food was great
Sitting by a fireplace in comfy armchairs, it was a cosy dinner on a cold and rainy day. The food was tasty, I had the clam chowder and black cod, everything was delicious. The service was friendly and not over the top nor fake as you can experience in some other restaurants.
Overall very disappointing experience. We had a reservation for 9:00pm and when we were greeted by our server the first thing he mentioned that the kitchen was closing right away. There was no introduction or conversation about the menu. We mentioned we would order right away but our barcode on our table wasn’t working so he said he will go get physical menus. It took him 5-10 minutes to get the menus but by the time he brought them we were able to check the menu out online. In the middle of taking our order, our server turned his back to say goodbye to a guest leaving where he then got our order wrong. I had an empty drink for majority of the time waiting for our meals and when he came to check in on us all he mentioned was it was last call for alcohol. The server was not interested in us AT ALL! The food was mediocre at best. To top it off when we were paying he handed over the machine and walked away without saying anything and came back once the payment was made. It left a bitter taste to end the night.
Great place to have a planned dinner. If you can request a seat close to the window to see the activity on the water. Fantastic food some of the best sushi I have ever had.
Great location beautiful views friendly service and incredible food. Both my partner and I had Halibut and couldnt have loved it more. I'm a sushi lover but this Halibut blew my tastebuds outta the water! Will be back for sure.
