Delicious food! Great server that came back and refilled our glasses at least 5 times. Busy place but I can see why.

Stephanie Mulder

They do have amazing chefs here. Never ordered something I didn't enjoy and portions excellent. It's great to share.

Alex Chang

Lovely food and great service . I will return for sure in the future for more great food.

Perfect location we are family of 5 ordered 5 different plates and all tasted excellent Great service as well

Lyle Lexier

Great steak, cozy atmosphere and a monster sized vanilla cake :) the place was pretty crowded but service was fast and waitress kept filling up water very often.

Great food. Staff are friendly and efficient. Food is in good portion and delicious. Order the half chicken! Atmosphere here is great. Highly recommended.

The room is truly lovely, kind of rustic-chic even, drinks are great, but the food is O.K. This wouldn't be too too much of an issue, though the pricing (a bit on the higher end of things) doesn't match the product that is put out. A member of our party ordered a dish during brunch that was missing a couple items. It was sent back to the kitchen and took forever to return. By the time it came back, we were mostly finished and her food was a bit on the lukewarm side. So-so.

We had a group of 6 and they were able to accommodate us right away. The service was good and the ambiance is terrific! This place has some delicious meal options! We shared a some meals expecting the portions to be on the smaller side but were wrong, the portions are a healthy size per entry! The flavour combinations are very tasty and highlight each plates flavours! Must try the Brussel sprouts! I’m not a big lover of them but these were fantastic! We’re from out of town and will most definitely come back next time we’re in vancity!

Went to the flying pig for the first time with a bunch of friends. The mussels were very delicious. Unfortunately no picture because the food it was too good, and was gobbled up! All of our food was delicious, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and homey. We were sat in the back section near the kitchen, and was much quieter than out in the large dining hall.

Came here for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it's a nicer spot than the Yaletown one. Staff were lovely especially the Irish bartender. Love the fact that they take bookings aswell. Means you can plan so much more! Food was delicious.

Paul

i quite enjoyed this place. the charcuterie board was absolutely fantastic! not many choices for entrées but the chicken was delicious so no complaints! (the patio is lovely)

Helpfulf but not really helpful as could be, thanks anyway staff members, they couldn't even say what their drink or food specials were. "They're on board over there" Courtesy sort of yes, but could of been more helpful. Thanks anyway to this staff member & hostess girl @ entrance.

Love love love flying pig. This place and thier Yaletown equivalent. Happy hour, the salmon sampler, braised short rib & the list goes on... Dan the manager is an absolute gem. Cannot give this place justice in this short paragraph. It's always busy so call ahead if you want to secure a spot.

Johnny H

We had a great meal here at the nice outdoor area. Service was good and food was delicious.

Pablo Sanders

Such a wonderful dinner. It is in the heart of Gastown and has such a unique and delicious menu. We waited about 20 minutes and I'll get the only negative out of the way now... There's literally no room to wait inside and away from the rain. It's a small price to pay. The restaurant did accommodate with a few chairs facing a few tables having dinner. Weird but helpful. The waiter was very good. He was knowledgeable about the entire menu, which had a lot of options. The food was bought out in a timely manner and was nice and hot. They have a nice drink menu as well with a full bar. We ordered 2 entrees and 2 side dishes. Too much food for us, so we took some home. But they were all very good. The atmosphere was wonderful. It was busy, yet calm and quiet enough to enjoy a private conversation. Highly recommend this place!

Mav Gill

Have been here a few times but Was there the other night and the food was absolute delicious as usual and Our server was great! She was so much for our girls night, I think her name was sabrina. Can’t wait to go back

M. Clara Belluco

Excellent food with wonderful service! My friends and I went for dinner while in town visiting. The server, Shannon, was a delight. Our meals came out quickly and were flavorful and well-prepared. We had a sampling of dessert, one of which my friend raved about all weekend. We stopped by before we left town for another piece of this dessert. The restaurant was closed for a private party but the manager on site was kind enough to get us a piece of the dessert on the house. Excellent service and great, caring people. Definitely go here!

Stef k

Decent food and drinks. Sitting outside at night was really nice. Service was exceptionally great.

Scott Gaddes

Nice place! We stopped in on our way back to our hotel as it was one of few restaurants that we could get in without a reservation. We just wanted a drink and a couple of appetizers. I had the Emily Madison Martini which was fantastic and we shared the beef tartar + bone marrow.

Adam Fowler

Came for happy hour. Definitely one of the not so good experiences. Staff were all just talking with one another. In addition when staff brought our food, parts of it fell on the table and either the waitress didn't notice ..or didn't care. Lastly our food took close to 45 min to come for happy hour appetizers. How long does it take to make a salad?! Anyways, supremely disappointed with front of house staff. The food got them 2 stars as the food I must say was good. Kitchen staff did well ! But everything else during happy hour was disappointing.

Steve Noel

Excellent place for just drinks or a full meal. Friendly, clean, casual environment. Just had appy's and drinks, but both were very good. Service was excellent, look forward to returning another time.

Spencer Medford (Email)

Very unpleasant experience. Appetizer sandwich buns were all dry like they have been in the warmer for quite some time. Burger - just ok, nothing special. At start they brought just one menu, so me and my partner seating opposite to each …

Jas Bhachu

Charming place. Fantastic well though out menu with a great atmosphere and very knowledge and friendly staff. Very well priced. The food presentation was very nice as well. I will be back!

Payman Torkiyan

Really nice Canadian fare located in beautiful Gastown. It is upscale casual and great for lunch or dinner. I prefer the lunch menu, as dinner is a bit pricey, but they have a robust appetizer menu as well. They also have a wide selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. The staff has always been prompt, friendly and knowledgable; food and drinks arrive quickly; and the environment is very pleasant.

Star Tong

We will be back to eat for sure! But I definitely recommend this place for drinks/cocktails. We had a great time sitting at the bar. We happened upon this place unexpectedly and we went in to have a drink. When we first entered multiple people assisted us which was a good sign. We sat at the bar for a cocktail and the staff was amazing in explaining the menu to us! We ordered the aged negroni and bison sour. Both were excellent. We had reservations in Yaletown to eat, but even when we were at the bar another customer raved about the food to us. The service was fun, kind and helpful which seemed to be on par with my impression of Vancouver (first time visiting). I was celebrating my birthday and was given a free taste of a wine when the bartender discovered this. Thank you to everyone for making us feel so welcome!

Truman Gerholdt

Went for happy hour on a Friday. Happy hour menu is limited but drinks and food were good. Service was great.

Sophia Negar Afshar

The service sucked. My steak was raw and cold I had to send it back. The seafood pasta was amazing. I would recommend eating somewhere else and save some money.

Jason Roudette

Latte fine. They came over and asked “sparkling or flat” and until the bill came we had no idea they charged 7 dollars for “sparkling” . Pure bs, just be up front and I would have given better review

Bob Davidson

Really choked. Went to a show at the Queen Elizabeth theatre and were looking forward to a great meal here after. It's supposed to be open till 12:00. Even said so on the schedule hanging by the door. Got there at 10:50 and it was closed!!!

Nichole Erichson

Great food but weird in house rules me and my mother went to meet my sister and her boyfriend there and they wouldn't set us a table if our whole party wasn't there we went and sat at the lounge and had some appetizers and drinks when my sister and bf arrived they tried to seat us in a very cramped table for 8 with another group sitting there it was very awkward and weird we requested a different table and they finally got us one in the dinning area we had some awesome bbq sliders at the lounge and told my sister to get some but the waitress said they cant serve that appetizer in the dinning area only the lounge so we asked if there was a different priced bbq slider that we could order and there was nothing on this menu equivalent it was the stupidest thing i have ever had happen at a restaurant eventually after having to call over and ask the manager they reluctantly let us have the lounge appetizer i would go back for happy hour but i would never dine there again

Saul Venegas

Good solid food, fun people watch, great service. Would go back again.

S L

Our server was extremely rude to us and the food didn't taste good either. When I was trying to pay for our meal, as soon as I finished using the machine to pay, the waiter actually snatched the machine out of my hand and walked off without saying anything. This was the worst experience in Canada we've ever had, and we go there pretty often.

Jessie Chao

The restaurant is very dark only having a small table top candle providing light. Service was great! I had ordered a blackened trout dish and found the trout to not edible. Far too dry for my liking. I would come back though as their menu is quite diverse.

derek cole

Honestly an underwhelming experience on every level. My hubby had the pulled pork sandwich we with fries and caeser salad. His food was meh and his caeser was so vinegary that it made his eyes twitch and run. I ordered the shortrib w/cheddar mash. The mash was quite nice but the short rib was terrible. Whoever prepared it completely forgot to season it. It was just a chunk of meat mush in a tasteless sauce. Our server came over to check on us as we were putting the first bite to our lips and never came back. My hubby actually had to get up and track down a staff member to get a salt shaker so I could try and redeem what was left of my meal. Our server was apparently too busy rolling cutlery on the other side of the restaurant to give a toss. My hubby is a chef that works fine dining downtown Van. I guess I am used to what he is able to make for shortrib because I would rather just not eat than have to eat that again and not only that but have to pay $22 for the privledge ???? *Although I do have to give them points for being one of the few ♿ accessible restaurants in the area. We tried many places and failed because they were all inaccessible before going here.

Amber Andresen

The food tasted good, had the short rib, it comes with a nice bone cut in half with bone marrow if you like that. Mash potatoes was also full of cheese. Prices are a bit high. Only problem is I have had heartburn that night and day after.

Jaime Mendez

A restaurant is there for one purpose. To feed the masses. If you cannot get this right then what is the point. Start with good customer service, if a client is asking for a low table do not then try to sit them by the bar at a high table. If a client has asked for a dish they saw outside do not then tell them that is the lunch menu, only then display the relevant menu for that time of day. If the kitchen is using fresh Seafood, do not overpower it with a spicy sauce unless you are trying to hide something. Overall this was a very poor offering from a restaurant located in one of the most famous areas in town. For those who have left positive feedback, you must have gone on a very good day.

Kristina Koneva

I absolutely ADORE this place. Service is friendly and attentive and the food is incredible. Love the cozy vibe inside too

Steve Kolnicky

The staff were very nice, excellent service. I felt that the food was a bit over priced. Menu has interesting and local options.

Jason Mathews

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, decent price- the food, it depends on what you get. My husband got the Pork Rack & I got the Rigatoni- the Pork was AWESOME, I wanted to switch meals! Very tender, perfectly cooked, great flavor. The Rigatoni was okay, you can tell it's not their forte. They had some good app. choices, small menu which I like- it shows they make stuff as fresh as possible. Overall, I recommend stopping by if in Gastown!

Josh Chen

Uncomfortable service experience, underlying racism, and soggy food. I've heard great things about this place, but unfortunately we did not have a great experience here. When we were being seated, we had some small talk with the host and he asked us "how's your day so far?". I told him that we were planning to go to the beach but it was cloudy and the host interrupted me before I could finish talking, starting off by saying "I don't know where you're from, but here in Vancouver..." and then proceeded to educate me about my own city, which frustrated me because I've lived here my whole life. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, though, since this restaurant is in a tourist destination (Gastown), but that is not an excuse to assume where I am from and I doubt this would have happened if my friends and I were white (me and my friends are Asian-Canadian), also, he interrupted me while I was talking, which was impolite, to be frank. Later, after ordering, we waited for about 30 minutes before our waitress finally came up to us to tell us that the food would be delayed. I usually don't mind waiting for food but the restaurant was not even busy since we came after the lunch rush, and the main thing that bothered me was the lack of communication. Interestingly enough, we actually saw our food ready on the counter outside of the kitchen when she came up to us to tell us that our food would be delayed. I understand that the lunch rush just passed, and our waitress was probably tired, but that isn't an excuse to be complacent and take it easy on the job. The most disappointing part of this experience was that when our food finally came, the bread for my pulled pork sandwich was really soggy, probably due to the fact that it had been sitting on the counter for an extra 15 minutes. I could have complained about it but I didn't want to wait another 45 minutes to get a new sandwich. To top it all off, after we finished paying for our food, the waitress asked, "are you guys from here?". I usually overlook the quality of service at a restaurant if the food is good, but for the racism and overpriced soggy sandwich that I received, I was extremely disappointed. I had a very uncomfortable experience at The Flying Pig and I will not be coming back here anymore.

Adriana Fernandez

A good restaurant in Gas town. I was satisfied the food and drinks, but the steak was little vit salty for me.

Andrew Merrell

Very delicious food, also I had "TFP LAGER" which is the most famous beer from the place and was good also

pink mint

Service and atmosphere are great food was average if anything kind of bland. I got the AAA Beef burger and waitress said everyone says it's amazing. Wife got the lamb bolgenese pasta and same thing very bland.

Last One

Food was excellent loved the restaurant. Service was good. We went for brunch, the servings were much too small. Nothing worse than leaving a restaurant hungry.

Franco Federico

Great restaurant, lot of choice, local food with nice flavour. Welcoming staff

Sean McKenna

The flying pig never disappoints. It's always my go to for happy hour since they're the only place that serves a good happy hour wine other than the house stuff. I've also never been disappointed ordering a full meal here. Everything is delicious. I highly recommend a reso for larger tables a few days in advance.

Cody Sayer

Best time is Happy Hour at this place. One of my faves is the trio of salmon, you must try. Candied salmon, smoked salmon, and salmon cakes are served on a rustic board with fresh greens, bread and a yoghurt dill sauce, brilliant. Not good was the crispy Brussel sprouts, soggy burnt and oily. This is a vibrant place with good music and good service, great bar choices too. I highly recommend visiting for the happy hour menu and drinks!

Ingrid J

The food was tasty, but the way the place runs is a bit chaotic. We were asked by no less than 5 people of we had been helped while waiting to be seated, but once we were settled in it was like we were forgotten! Everyone wants to help, but no one has a specific job description. That being said, there are a number of local brews on tap and some tasty rotating specials for you to try, which is reason enough to come and try it at least once.

Marissa Massa

I am so happy that this is the place we had our final meal in Vancouver! All of the staff was so welcoming. We were acknowledged the minute we walked in, and the place was packed. About five minutes after walking in, we were shown to our table, this cute little spot up top that overlooked all of the hustle and bustle that was happening on the street. It's Saturday night so there was lots to see. We ordered the crab cakes and some beverages, followed by the salmon, prawn orecchiette, and the cauliflower casserole. Yum, yum, YUM!!! We tore it up! Perfectly portioned, we were able to finish it all, and then share the creme brulee. That was delicious as well. It came with this soft oatmeal cookie that was perfect for dipping. We cleaned our plates and walked out fat and happy. Great spot to celebrate many occasions. Definitely a $$ place, but not pretentious or overblown.

valerie sanders

You must try jumbo onion rings from this place. Their food is really flavorful and juicy. Good place for casual dining and fancy dining at the same time.

Juan “and” Zeron

I had eaten at this location and the Olympic Village location years ago, and thought it might be nice to go for dinner here since Local was closed for a private event. I don’t remember the last time I actually took the time to make a review for a restaurant but this experience was so poor I have too. We all got the steak and frites, with one being the New York, and the other two being the sirloin. Everyone’s steak was extremely fatty and greasy, they did not taste great, and we’re all of poor quality. The frites were also horrible, they were basically just hickory sticks, accept longer and more awkward to eat. On top of the poor quality food, the service was also lackluster. To make matters worse, later that night I started to feel fairly ill. The following day and night I was pretty sick and will skip the details. Hasn’t been great. Bottom line is, I will not be returning here.

Michelle Van Balkom

Awesome bistro food, great service. Like most Canadians, don't know how to make proper espresso but still a great place for lunch and a glass of vine

Gregory Campbell

Had the ribeye steak it was delicious. The risotto was excellent. Bartender were very courteous and polite. Great place to dine.

Beatrice Hanley

It's okay. The food is good, but really unremarkable. Nothing crazy surprisingly good. The spicy chicken wings were sugary and not spicy. The Brussels sprouts were salty and definitely fried. The tomato bocconicci were perhaps the best sized plate for the price, which was high. But it's Gastown, so perhaps I shouldn't be too surprised.

Simone Luciani

A really great eatery, great food and very friendly staff. Well worth a visit when in Gastown. Booking in advance recommended.

David Chang

It's an okay place to meet with friends, have a couple of drinks. Very casual. Service was satisfactory, with the staff being very attentive. The food itself was not the best, perhaps too greasy, but still edible. I enjoyed the night. Overall, the price was not expensive at all and I was full. What more can a man ask for?

Wes DeBoer

The dou fish. Sockeye salmon and halibut topped with a cucumber and pickled onion salsa.

Brett Jones

Very good atmosphere. Service was spot on and friendly. Food presented well and was done perfectly. Truly enjoyed all and would highly recommend.

Jordan Scott

Went during happy hour. Great food, tasty drinks

Brent Uallas

We arrived here jetlagged from a ten hour flight and 22 hours awake. Food was excellent - good, hearty, cosy cooking with big flavours. We both had pasta dishes - a lamb ragu and a seafood tagliatelle - which hit the spot. Our waiter was super friendly and made us feel right at home. Lovely view of the gaslights down the street.

Nina M

Went here for some drinks and small food. We sat at the bar and had some nice cider and beer. I ordered their gluten free lobster risotto and my boyfriend had the pulled pork poutine. The food was absolutely AMAZING. We will definitely be back :)

Jon Winter

Aggressive! First the good: the brussel sprouts were so good. The bad: a lot. We tried a lot of different sides in the menu. And the brussel sprouts were the only standout. The bone marrow was really salty. The lobster and shrimp risotto was bland. Mixing the risotto and the bone marrow made for a decent combination. But I don’t think it was intended. The main reason I’m giving a 1 Star is because of the super aggressive waitress. Upon getting seated, she threw the menus and the utensils on the table. The utensils made a loud bang which garnered attention from other guests. When the food arrived, food was falling off the plates as she slammed them down. Another waitress brought the rib eye dish to our table and she was gentle and careful. Even added in “have a good meal.” Our main waitress on the other hand was mad about something that’s getting directed towards me, my girlfriend, and the utensils.

Jean-Philippe Sarrazin

Very tasty food! Quite busy in the evening so it's best to make a reservation but we walked in and were seated within 15 minutes. The server was very prompt and helpful. I would definitely recommend eating here!

Mina Delic

The food is great! Most of the servers are very great at their job if the place would have kept JP on it would have still been a great friendly environment to not only eat in but also work in. The new managment they decided to bring in ruined the place. The fact that I have fallen multiple times on the stairs or even just on the floor, or the numerous amounts of bugs they had in the kitchen. The staff here work their asses off doing splits, working 11-12 hour shifts, having a revised schedule every couple of days. And when I decide to professionally and reasonably quit I get a gay, sassy manager get all up in my face and try and argue with me. That place may have great food but the bugs and managment are gonna get to it.

Candela Canseco

Great variety of options on their happy hour menu, I tried 6 items and all have been very delicious. Portion sizes are decent. I'd definitely go again.

Stephanie Harrison

This place doesn’t stand up to the hype. We ordered Brussel sprouts which definitely had a very bitter aftertaste. Based on the servers recommendation , we ordered the short ribs and I must say everything was average and tasted like it was sitting on the burner and warmed up and served. So as a whole, I definitely expected better.

Giri Berenstein

Had dinner here with a friend and wow, it was lovely. The Blackened Trout was absolutely delicious! Super nice server and quick service to boot! I can't recommend it enough!

Hannah Staples

Their pork rack with pulled pork poutine is a must-try! Pork was cooked perfectly tender and flavourful, poutine was cheesy and delicious. Their cheesy bread with bone marrow is a great appetizer as well. A bit pricey, but you pay for the excellent food, ambiance, and location. Portions are generous and filling. I would love to come back here!

Isaac Miller

the food was fantastic, but very slow service! and a weird part of town to have a high end restaurant! bring your credit card, it's expensive (but *do* have the sugar pie for dessert!)

Christopher Cavoto

I always like going to the flying pig for dinner and again was not disappointed. Their food is delicious, comforting and a great location to bring out of town guests which is what we did. Our server was attentive and kind and our food came …

Matt Clayton

Pretty nice place to have dinner in Vancouver; good food and nice drinks for a typical price I guess. But you must consider some waiting time before getting seated if you're really hungry.

Mark Elwin Somo

Came here around 5pm and the restaurant was relatively empty. The hostess was not accommodating at all, we were seated at the big table in the middle (the long wooden table with x seats) and we told her our friend was coming soon and if we could save her a seat as well, but she told us only if no party is seated on the other side will we be allowed to add an extra seat cause it's "busy." Ok sure, no problem. But what irked us was her snarky snide comment to another coworker saying "you have to be aggressive sometimes" in regards to us politely asking to add another seat. One star if I based my experience on her. However, our server was exceptionally wonderful and made good recommendations. The salmon platter was great that we ordered another one, and the calamari was soft and chewy. Our server continuously checked up, refilled our drinks and made funny remarks. The food was alright, but the service really did enhance the meal! On a side note, our friend did arrive and we asked our server if she could sit in the empty seat because no one had been seated next to us for an hour, and he was super willing and accommodating, a total 360 degree shift in attitude from what was previously told.

Kim Griparic

Had the salt n pepper squid the pulled pork poutine and the mussels all so good!

Mal

Extremely inconsiderate to customers with disabilities. Confronted my group in the doorway, demanding documents that don't exist for my professionally trained, doctor prescribed service dog, who was behaving professionally. Was unaware of accessibility laws and expected non existent identification, not required by law, would not acknowledge documents that were legitimate and actual requirements. Said they'd "make an exception", but we didn't Stay. Disability rights to have medical equipment are not something you choose whether to abuse by or not. Will not be returning. Highly disappointed with the treatment we received.

Pat Trinh

One of my fav places to eat. Staffs great. Foods delicious. Atmosphere is perfect. My fav appy is the brussel sprouts. I dodnt know those little balls could be so delicious! Also the mt lehmon chicken I think it's called...yummmm..everything is yum actually. And happy hour is fantastic. The short rib croquettes are sooo good...

Andres

Food was sub-par. Their burger was overcooked after asking for medium. The service was also very slow.

Joshua Cooper

Best Onion Rings i have had so far. Good service.

Wilson Lin

I went to have a fun work lunch before the Christmas holidays. The appetizer Bone Marrow with Cheezy buns was light and filling. I finished off with an entree of Salmon with Crusted Crab. I loved the decor of the place as well. My belly rates this afternoon as "Excellent" 5 stars.

3 2

Very cool space and great service! The food was a bit under seasoned for my taste.

William Shadbolt

Sat there for 35 minutes, not one server even acknowledged us. Not going back

Lanei L

One of the best happy hour menus in Vancouver! Go there between 2:30 pm and 6 pm and try the truffle macaroni if they’re still on the menu.

Lo On Ki

One of the best places for brunch! A friend recommended it, and we were very pleased with our meal. For drinks, the bacon bourbon sour was tasty, as well as the earl grey cocktail special. Food-wise, the salmon Benedict was one of the best I've had, with great tasting salmon, perfectly cooked egg, and delicious hollandaise sauce. I couldn't resist the side order of hash browns either.

Rohan Gore

I like their Happy Hour (Mon-Fri 3-6pm, Weekends 4-6pm). 4/5 Stars - Crispy Salmon Cakes ($6.50) 5/5 Stars - Truffled Jumbo Macaroni ($6.75) 4/5 Stars - Beef Short Rib Croquette ($6.50) 2/5 Stars - Classic Poutine ($7.50) 5/5 Stars - Pulled Pork Sandwiches ($7.25) 3/5 Stars - PEI Mussels ($6.50) 2/5 Stars - Sriracha BBQ Chicken Drumstrick ($6.50) $5 beer or wine. Service is always good. It gets pretty freakin' busy! We got there at 5:30PM on a Friday but we managed to score a table for 2.

Tony Sayegh

Visiting Vancouver and we had the best experience at this restaurant. Food was fabulous and service was top notch. Our server, Anna F., was attentive, efficient and very witty. We wouldnt hesitate to go back. Our starters and entrees were all great and cooked perfectly. The maple sugar pie was so delicious.

TOM HOLUB

Pretty tasty sides for vegetarians. They typically will have a vegetarian pasta feature daily which can add to the options, but a salad and a side is fine too.

Valeria Stephens (Panda)

Atmosphere and location where great, food was a bit overpriced, however our chicken and corn soup was pretty good and relatively cheap, the pulled pork poutine was a little bland. Our server was a bit kooky but did provide us with decent service.

Thomas Moore

Alittle disappointed here. I had a new York strip. Cooked just the way I requested but only came with potato crisps. It ruined my meal. I felt they just wanted me to buy more side dishes. 32 dollars for a steak on it's own is alittle too expensive. My wife's fish dish was lovely except the salmon was overcooked. Not sure if the mistakes ext and the dishes are made to be produced in the kitchen quickly to get you out of the door quicker or not. But felt alittle robbed here.

Alexandre Guertin

Consistently great service, food is always well prepared, and their menu has a wide selection of dishes as well. I always bring friends and family who are visiting from out of town here.

ryan pongracz

Great Steak! Awesome staff! Rosie in the Kitchen is epic! Highly recommended!

Christopher James Katan

The food was incredibly delicious, between us we got the short rib , the trout , the cauliflower casserole and the Brussels sprouts. Everything was really tasty and filling. The service was quick and friendly and this place has a great ambience. Would highly recommend!

Samuel Lopez

Delicious food in a whimsical atmosphere. Fresh, crisp and colourful plating, with trendy design, fitting well into the theme of the neighborhood. I had the Pacific Sockeye Salmon special, while my guest has the Mussles with Frites. We found both were lovely, although with the latter it is definitely not French style french fries, but a crispy, large helping of crunchy potato shreds. They, and the optional garlic bread, are best if used in the accompanying broth that drenches the mussles- a very smokey/natural nitrate blast that gets an extra ooomph from pairing bacon crumbles and celery. The pairing of yellow zucchini with buttermilk mashed potatoes under my fish was a texture compliment, as was the tang of the caper loaded cream sauce on top. Expect a more robust texture instead of tender, with the bold colours of a drier drier preparation of the salmon. I feel in hindsight a white wine would have really rounded this out but we didn't want a boozy lunch. One caveat- the music was obnoxiously loud, despite being a fair distance from the speakers. While the music was clearly picked to pull away from the Victorian cuteness, it ended up being less a background note and more an uninvited chatty guest at our table, leaving us with less conversation than I would have liked.

Louise Vargas

Recommended by several friends while visiting Vancouver. It lived up to the hype. Great food and cocktails. If it's a weekend, go for dinner. The wait time for just drinks was more than double what it was to get a table to eat.

Denise

Love the flying pig! Comfort food brought up a notch. The only downside this place have is the noise level, which can be a bit much if you're actually looking to have a conversation.

Dylan Soo

The staff was friendly and food was good:) I tried dine-out vancouver menu!

Robtimus Prime

I had the salmon sampler and pork rack, both were delicious. The location is ideal for outdoor dining.

Jay Matlock

Good food! Good service( make a reservation the place is busy). The atmosphere is vibrant a little on the loud side.

aakash arya

The server Kelly was wonderful...very sweet and very attentive. .also we came in with a large party and Joel took care of the situation when the GM couldnt. Food was very good!

John Wiebe

Great service &food + super friendly staff!

Angie Marie

Server was nice, food was looking good. However every food we ordered was over cooked and taste was terrible. I was disappointed.

Great spot! All 6 of us had different orders and we all loved it. Also the best specials menu I've ever heard!!!

Garey Richards

We stopped in for a few hours in the afternoon while we waiting for an appointment. Had the cheesy bread with bone marrow, it was good but the marrow is a very small amount. Also had a meat and cheese board that we really enjoyed.

Yshagh Mohan

I had the signature pork rack. I found it bit dry and lacking flavour. Their pulled pork poutine and steak fries are delicious. Beef Steak Tomato & Bocconcini Duo looked delicious as well. A side can well be a dish on its own if not too hungry. This is a great place for happy hour. The portion is good. The steam clams, salmon cakes, and short rib croquette ended up very filling.

Dinuka Gunaratne

Lamb rigatoni! SO good ... And the service was great. Liked the vibe and music too. A delicious choice. :)

Andy Luu

Finally made it to TFP and enjoyed it. Had the pork rack which was cooked to perfection and tasted just as good. Service was good, sat at the bar and the bartenders treated us well. Manager came by and made sure everything was good. Would definitely come back for more.

Hagar Aharon

The brussel sprouts are delish!!! And Jesse our waiter ROCKS, he gets a 5 for sure. Do not leave without at least sampling the chocolate and banana bread pudding. Holy dessert!!!!

Hannah Morgan

One the best food options in Gastown however extremely tiny portions and the waitress was extremely annoying by checking on you every minute and pushing to order more. Fix your portions and teach your stuff where's the line between attention and being annoying and I'm coming back.

Loulou's Picture

Good food, fish was great. Cosy atmosphere

Ruyam Yagisan

A little expensive but very delicious restaurant. However, restaurant naming does not match. There are a lot of seafood dishes.

The BIG HEAVY restaurant sign looks like it is NOT securely attached. DO NOT WALK UNDERNEATH; however, once safely seated, The Flying Pig is a FLAVOURFUL experience!!! Vancouver's Mecca for Meat Lovers, this dining experience is as ORIGINAL as it is DELICIOUS. Set in modern beautiful interior design, located PERFECTLY in the HEART of Gastown, Vancouver, & accompanied by fast & friendly service, The Flying Pig is CERTAIN to pass your taste bud test with FLYING COLOURS.

Scooter Geoff

I went to the flying pig recently and received bland food and rude servise. I ordered the eggs Benny. The eggs were flavourless. The server seemed nice at the beginning. After she brought all our food she asked "anything else you need". The table quickly said "we are good, thanks" and we continued the conversation we where having before the food came out. As we began to dig into the food one girl noticed part of her order was missing. So we asked the server about it. While she was grabbing the missing food, another girl noticed that there was no butter. When the server came back with the missing food we asked for the butter. At this point another girl began to realize how bland the eggs were, so when the server came back with the butter we asked for salt and pepper. Here is when we get a strange look from the server. She brought the salt and pepper and left. It through the group off - this look we received. We were only asking for all the things that were missing from the table. What kind of breakfast restaurant doesn't provide butter and salt + pepper with your meal? The other thing we found later that was missing was the ketchup. To not bother the same server I turned to another walking by and asked if he could bring some ketchup. His reply was unexpected "Please ask your server" or "you'll have to ask your server" (something along those lines). He then proceeded to stand behind the bar. I was shocked! Do these servers not help each other? Is it so difficult to go 30secs out of your way to servise a customer? If he didn't want to do it, he could have said "I'll let your server know you're asking for ketchup." Anyway we couldn't get around it and I had to ask for the ketchup to the upset server. When she finally brought the ketchup one of the other girls on the table said something to her along the lines of "sorry we've been making you run around". The server followed up with "that's why I asked "anything else you need"" and left. She said it in such a rude tone. We then discussed that we understand if she's having a bad day and our asking for things didn't help her mood. However that's not the way to treat a customer. We weren't asking just to ask or to be mean. When she originally asked if we needed anything she had just put the food infront of us. Are we supposed to assess everything then and there? Each request was triggered at different times for different reasons. Also what kind of breakfast restaurant doesn't provide butter, salt + pepper and ketchup on the table? That was also unexpected and odd.

My first visit to the Flying Pig this weekend was absolutely fantastic. We were absolutely delighted to find out that we were going to be sitting upstairs on the window with an absolutely incredible view of the twinkling lights of GasTown. Our service was spot on and the food was incredible. I will absolutely be returning and will always recommend the Flying Pig. Well done, keep it up!!

Ryan Kinsella

I was very surprised at how delicious this was. My friend made a group reservation, and before going I didn't think it looked good for vegetarians. But I got the happy hour mac and cheese, brussel sprouts, and the beetroot salad, and they were all SO delicious. Great beer selection, and the atmosphere wasn't too dark or loud (which I often find restaurants to be). I'd go back!

Lusine Yeghiazaryan

We went for a quick dinner to catch up tonight. I have always loved the food but tonight the service really took the spotlight. We had Benie as our server and right away she made us feel happy and welcomed. She was attentive and very funny and charismatic during the entire dining experience. As someone who has worked in the Vancouver restaurant scene for most of my adult life, it was really refreshing to have a server who was so attentive and who was really enthusiastic about her job as with the pandemic was are all tired. 12/10 service and we will definitely be back!

Claudia Cheung

We celebrated my retirement and 70th birthday tonight ..... The waiter was great, and the beer was so lovely and cold, but the food was pretty mediocre ...... overcooked pasta, not enough mushrooms, steak with a lot of grizzle ....

Maxine Llewellyn

Some of the best staff in the city. Quality bar menu and beer selection. Nice chill afternoon spot.

Andrew Dunn

Yummy ! Must try won't regret

Doug Smith

A fantastic brunch experience. Food was perfectly delicious, service was an A+. The locations interior and decor are great, the loft is so cool! My only note is that the restroom stalls are very tiny. Have already told others about the awesome experience, and will definitely be back!

Emily Binks

Lovely place with a cozy yet chic atmosphere. The staff are super friendly and the food serving was pretty fast. The food was reasonably priced and decent. Chef Erik’s special meal was so lovely.

Christina Wolf

The customer service here is outstanding. All my husband wanted was ice cream during lunch time visit to Gastown. Not only was the Flying Pig the only place with ice cream, but they treated us as if we were big spenders. The dessert we had -- with three scoops of ice cream on his -- were outstanding and the service even better! Highly recommend!

Ashish Malik

Amazing food and service with one of the best whiskey sours I'v had in years. Girlfriend and I decided on this after being denied service at another restaurant and couldn't of been happier. Things do happen for a reason.

Cathy Nelson

The service and food was outstanding. Far and away the best meal we had on our vacation. Don't hesitate to try out this restaurant.

Appeared to be a great place to eat and the atmosphere was certainly ' buzzing '. We were seated quickly and didn't take too long for service. The menu was nice and small without overloading you with many choices. The downside was the food had been very heavily seasoned, especially with salt and that made it hard to eat at times. The fries were cut so thin you had trouble picking them up with a fork and I had to result in using my fingers. The steak was OK and you get what you pay for although strangely the sauce it came with was actually lacking seasoning I felt. We did see a couple next to us having problems with their meal where their starters didn't come out and once it did, not shortly behind that their main meal arrived. The server realised it was bad timing and had to take it away to keep warm. Oops! If the restaurant just focused on getting details like these right I feel it'd be a top choice for the amount you'll pay.

Vera Saul

Good place to visit when on a tour of Gas Town. Busy place but food is good and staff are friendly

Hank Tung

I decided to go here on my last night in Vancouver as it looked really good. When I arrived I was seated at the bar and was greeted by a bartender who sounded as if he had a sore throat so it was difficult at times to hear him but he was very attentive. There was another bartender there as well who also checked on me from now and then. I had the Veal Piccata, a glass of cider and a lemon tart for dessert. The Veal was a bit tough, and the vegetables didn't have much flavor or sophistication. I was also disappointed in their drink menu but overall the experience was good.

Paddy M

amazing truffle Mac and cheese. Server was absolutely adorable and very kind. Gave good suggestions for breakfast in the morning. Aesthetically pleasing with twinkle lights. Bone marrow cheese bread was to die for.

Nicholas Manara

Went here with a party of 30. The Staff were amazing and handled the large group with ease. Food was spectacular. I would highly recommend The Flying Pig for your next group event. They are pros!

Ernest Chan

Great brunch spot! Delicious crab cake eggs benny. Surprised we got served with some tasty banana bread to start. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. 2 levels and close to the water for a nice morning stroll. Also did not have to deal with a line up like other places because of the plentiful seating available. Highly recommend you check it out.

Really good Salmon Benedict. Will comeback for it, it's amazing and the staff are very wonderful. Amazing experience

Matt Crook

Delicious food and a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Our family had a great meal here, and all of the staff were helpful and cheerful! Thank you!

ECU Bill

Everyone who works here is very friendly. Food is amazing, I particularly enjoy whatever special they have they are always well thought out and delicious. Also, it’s a good place to meet new people; sitting at the bar! Highly recommend. Plus the seating is very comfortable. I’ve been coming here once a week, money is worth it. And it’s reasonable!

Matt “HTH” Smithman

Loved it. Gastropub but, like, really well done. Charcuterie was excellent. Wonderful happy hour. Solid draft options.

Brandon Matthews

good ambiance, great food, great menu. bit expensive and service was a bit pushy. seems a little conflicted, is it a high-end restaurant or a casual neighbourhood pub?

Keith Wilson

I ordered a sirloin steak with medium and a maple sugar pie. Got to say the sauce and the steak itself are just excellent! Little hard outside with very juicy inside... This steak is not the best I've eaten, but I'll give it 8.5 out of 10! The maple sugar pie is not that sweet. But it's still better to share with friends if you don't like to eat too much sweet! The atmosphere is quite nice for friends~ Yet, if you wanna find a descent place with some romance for you to spend time with your lovely partner, I'd say this place is not a good one. It's not that crowed, but it's really really noisy... Please check my video to feel it~. Otherwise, this place is a good one to enjoy talking and eating!

E Winger

This was the best meal I had in vancouver. They were highly accommodating for my vegan girlfriend and went off menu for my need for a wicked salmon steak. Highly recommended! The nice lady behind the bar was stella on service! Don't miss this place!

Jin K

Went there for a family dinner. Such a great time! First, the service is amazing. Everybody is very nice, welcoming you, etc. Then, the food: I took the hazelnut crust cod, so fresh, flavored, balanced, perfect! The vegetables were perfectly cooked. My parents took the burger, the French fries were well cooked and seasoned, same for the burger. We had dessert, the maple pie, family tradition recipe. It’s a no brainer, take this one! It’s a pie made with walnuts, really delicate. I have kind of the same walnut pie tradition from my area in France, it was a great surprise. The atmosphere also is very nice at this restaurant. Great music in the background, enough light but not too much, and it’s not noisy! I’m already looking forward for the next time I’m in Vancouver!

Andrea Kuch

Awesome local town with terrific food and drinks plus their knowledgeable staff were fun to talk with.

Danny Yoo

The environment is great and it is a great place to hang out with friends in the weekend. However, the food itself is over-rated. I'm not saying the flood is bad but it's just very ordinary and not exciting. The chicken I ordered was a little bit dry and bone marrow my sister ordered was too greasy.

Deb Tate

Reasonably priced food. Small incident where they spilled my food on my jacket, manager immediately offered dry cleaning. Will return for the right attatude, this visit was due to company team event. Was hoping the food would have arrived earlier though, regardless of the spillong incident.

Naryan Wong

I actually went here on my first date and really like the atmosphere and vibes. We sat up top looking down to the bar and street. Delicious pasta and great friendly service.

Lovely staff and good food!

Catie Inspires

They have really great food, the steak is top quality and the deserts are really great. Beer is limited but you can find some decent wine. Very loud though and can be really crowded on popular nights.

Thomas Reneau

Great service, friendly staff, good food. Limited options for vegetarians but it's ok. Lovely cosy ambience. favourite out of the flying pig venues.

Delicious. Enjoyed a nice dinner here, on walking in we were seated straight away upstairs by the window. The staff were friendly and service was ok. The music was bit loud in the restaurant. We ordered the lamb rigatoni and the pork rack. Both meals tasted fantastic and were filling.

Maryam Eslami

Seedy, dirty postmodern Midwestern diner aesthetic meets hipster bar. The food... wasn't terrible. I ate something literally completely forgettable (in fact, I've already forgotten it!) but their poutine stood out. Too much gravy, uneven distribution of cheese. The fries were alright, but they were waterlogged with gravy. The fact that their waitstaff was nice and that they used real cheese curds prevent me from hating this place. Probably good for their appy happy hours though.

Lucy F

Food and support staff all phenomenal, but sitting at the bar, I felt a little ignored while the cantankerous, overserved couple next to me got doted upon. Several staff milling about and avoiding eye contact. Maybe I'm not the right kind of customer.

Lindsay Smith

I'm not sure what all these bad reviews are about but my experience was nothing short of a very pleasant one. The waitress was really nice but not gushing striking a fine balance of being Pleasant and inviting but not interrupting my meal. I had the roast chicken which was a very simple dish but the chicken up seem to be what was Superior kind and was cooked very well. This was a simple dish of roast chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables and it was very well done. It certainly did not blow my mind but what do you want from a roast chicken. The ingredients for all impeccable and The Taste was great. I'll be coming back

Kim W

I used to LOVE the Flying Pig but I think I'm over it. Went there yesterday with some ladies for happy hour for a Christmas get together. We were greeted unenthusiastically and reminded several times that happy hour was still 20 minutes away which was fine with us, we were happy to drink and eat full price for a bit. Then we did get to order my favorite thing in the world, the jumbo truffled mac and cheese, we find it has changed. The shells are small, the truffle was undetectable and the mac itself was gummy... We had to flag down our server for more drinks, I don't know what the heck he did to the bill with the ways he split it up and no one said goodbye as we left though there were staff standing there. From what I have come to expect out of the Pig, I was sorely disappointed.

Sikoya Ashburn

The atmosphere here is really good. But the meals is a little bit salty for me.

Eric Li

Amazing place. Have the mussels, you won't be disappointed.

Ian Simmons

The food was quite delicious, and the portions were well sized for the above average cost of the dishes we ordered. I would recommend a reservation as it was quite busy at lunch on a Saturday. So busy that the wait staff was overwhelmed and couldn't take a moment to listen to me say that I would need that set of cutlery he was taking away from the table. (Maybe they were running low?) Anyway, I did get some back to eat my salmon cakes (not pictured). And although it was busy our party of 7 had no problem hearing each other and having a good conversation.

Evan Kita

I try to stay away from the flying pig becasuse they haven't changed their menus in years. But this time I ordered the dine out menu and it was fantastic considering it's only $35 for a 3 course meal with generous portions. The atmosphere is cozy & warm.

Claude Boldut

Great happy hour food selections at reasonable prices. Drink specials are nice but selections are limited. Service is quick and friendly.

Christopher L

The food was terrible. I never leave reviews but this was so bad I just have to! The veal which is pretty pricey looked disgusting with a slimy sauce poured over it with overcooked mushy rice not even resembling risotto never mind tasting like it. The PEI mussels which weren’t bad by themselves they were served with a pile of shoe string fries that made it impossible to actually eat or enjoy the nussels. Have no idea how this place is open. Don’t Go!

Golrokh Khalafi

The cocktail (black walnut old fashioned) was great. The main courses (pork chop with poutine, trout with pasta) were very good, and surprisingly large portions. The pulled pork poutine was phenomenal. Good brussels sprouts. The shrimp and lobster risotto wasn't great, mostly tasted like cheese. Service was good as well and we liked the atmosphere seated upstairs near a window.

Nikki Hedstrom

All the food was amazing. Not a huge beer selection and they wouldn't seat only part of our group, we had to wait until everyone was there even though we ordered drinks.

The St Jimmy

Amazing place with a nice crew Bonnie the waitress very nice and helpful, Oscar the bar tender very friendly. The risotto with lobster became one of my favorites, the bone marrow is the other one both delicious dishes.

Cathey Armillas

We love it here! The staff and service is amazing. Good food and wonderful atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Amberleigh Dauphinais

Lovely spot in Gastown. Upstairs has a great view of the action below. Menu is thoughtfully focused on meat and deli items but there are great items for those that want to venture away from land based protiens.

Ric L.

Stopped by for Sunday brunch with a few friends. The restaurant was not busy at all and there was ample seating inside and outdoors. I opted for a grapefruit mimosa and the brioche French toast ($15.50). I enjoyed the thick cut brioche, whipped cream and blueberry compote. It was quite filling and I couldn’t finish it all, especially when it was soaked in syrup after a while.

Yummy choices and we all went home full. Attentive servers.

David Jones

Pricing is average for Gastown, but the food is consistently fantastic, staff and waiters are happy and helpful. The brussels are to die for and the bone marrow cheesy bread is killer, busy during the weekends but a great stop during the week.

Luis Carreno

Quite possibly the best frittata I've ever had for brunch. And excellent service.

Christina Taylor

Nice bar setting, music wasn't too loud, lights weren't too dim. You could actually have a conversation with your neighbour. Great selections of local brews.

Jaydee

If I were to go Price for service rating here, I'd give it a solid 5, it's just an okay experience. I'm sure others had better, it could have been the day, it could have been the server, I'm not sure. We were seated in a fair amount of time for the size of our party, 6 , and greeted as well. The place was packed, and it felt we were a burden to be served, did not feel welcomed. I would have addressed this with management, however how do you bring up you don't feel welcomed? The answer we would have gotten would be "We're busy, sorry' To their credit, they were extremely busy. Now, let's not let the service devalue the food experience. The food was phenomenal you can taste the passion in the tatse of the food, the sauce was a perfect balance of savory and creamy for the Carbanara, however it felt like it was lacking panchetta, or this case bacon, which is totally fine I don't have the expectation of real Italian panchetta for every dish, however the quantity in the dish was well absent in my opinion. At the end of the day, would I come back? Yes. Would it be for full service, no. I'd come back for bar top and snacks, but I wouldn't do a party myself, unless it was a slower day.

Bob & Shannon Boehr

I'm leaving one star simply because I have to leave something to make this post. The staff.. wonderful. The host... wonderful. The server we had that we later found out was the manager... absolute trash. He doesn't belong in customer service. I could excuse the flavorless food and even the mussels that were bad- but I cannot excuse the disgusting behavior of this guy. He treated us like trash from the moment we got there. He forgot to ask us what we wanted to order. We waited for almost 30 minutes to even get enough attention to make our dinner order. He was too "busy" to explain what the food was. But spent an abundant amount of time leaning against the rail chatting it up with some locals. I guess my American money wasn't good enough for this manager to take his valuable time to do his job. The food was terrible, but the service was what made it a nightmare. Mr. Manager- You earned every cent of the ZERO tip you got after you snatched the credit card receipt away. We didn't even get a chance to sign it. Rude! Rude! RUDE! Save yourself the time and find another restaurant! May your employees all find a better place to work.

Julius Zhang

Great place to people watch. Only came for drinks - enjoyed it all ????

steven navarrete (stovetop)

First off, the service provided by the host and server was amazing! Super welcoming people. Came here on a Monday for all day happy hour, definitely a good choice. I recommend the meat and cheese boards and the jumbo truffle Mac and cheese, crazy good!!! Definitely returning!!!!

Colin MacRae

Fun atmosphere in historic Gastown; great food, quick service. Only downside was the indoor temperature was quite warm, though it didnt stop our group of 5 from enjoying it all.

Sarah Nicholson

Food was great. Waited for 45 mins (party of 7) and we just walked around and came back. Good atmosphere, local beer, wine selection and has a full bar. Server was really nice about splitting our bill by person.

Ben Morgan

The place and their food were awesome! I had a date night and decide to have steaks. The meat was tender, cooked perfectly and properly seasoned. There was an accident upstairs where some girls broke their wine glass and the pieces were everywhere including my plate. The nice waiter at that night offered me a replacement of our dinner and beer. Excellent service and definitely will visit again!

Michelle Nye

I tried really hard to like The Flying Pig. Three high points: The poutine was some of the best I've had in town, the atmosphere is comfy and energetic and the staff was attentive. Unless you're going for brunch prepare for a heavy menu of meats and comfort foods with a gourmet flair. As a vegetarian I knew that this restaurant was not exactly up my alley but the rest of my group had heard great things. There were only about two things on the menu that didn't have meat. When my order came I was surprised to taste fish in the butternut squash soup. Only after showing the waiter a large chunk of fish did he believe me and a manager came to apologize and inform me that seafood chowder had been substituted and a new soup would be brought. Unfortunately, though the replacement soup looked and smelled like squash, it also had ham pieces. After two rounds of meat filled soups I wasn't ready to try to explain just why substituting two soups with meat for a vegetable soup was not what I wanted. The restaurant's way of righting the issue was to take the soup off my bill...

Láďa Říha

Didn't eat here but the menu looks good. Had a couple of beers on tap. Good local brews.

Martin KO

Came here for date night and had an amazing experience. My partner ordered the rib eye steak, and had nothing but praise. The steak was seared to perfection and was very juicy. I got the roasted chicken, which was slightly dry but still very flavourful. The ambiance was perfect and the location is very convenient. The service was also very efficient and the staff were welcoming. All the staff seemed to love their jobs! Highly recommend this place, we will definitely come back here again.

Danny Webber

Despite showing up with two guys who both embarrassed, and shamed me with their undignified and barbaric behaviour, the food and service by our amazing server Sadie more then compensated for their terrible manners and demeanor. Well done flying pig for bringing a sense of upscale to two completely and utter douches.

T. T.

Nice restaurant in the middle of Gastown: we sat outside and were provided with heated lamps and blankets, which meant we could admire all the lovely bulbous street lamps. We were well looked-after by our knowledgeable server, and the food was very tasty: the main meals seemed quite pricey to us but my friend very much enjoyed the pork, whilst the skirt steak starter with a side of crispy brussels sprouts was more than enough for me: the steak was very chewy (to be expected of this cut) but again, everything was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a meal in Gastown

Jordan Franks

Brunch here was disappointing. The food was very mediocre and below our expectations. We ordered a French toast and a Country style breakfast. The French toast was soggy from drenching in syrup and berry compote. Flavour was lacklustre and forgettable. The country breakfast came with 4 slices of bread, which we found unusually dry and hard. They didn’t even bring us any jam or other condiments until we asked. The service here was friendly, but they were not exactly on top of things. Service speed was subpar, despite the restaurant only being half full. We probably won’t be returning.

Ali Alba

One of my favourite restaurants-never fails to impress. The paella was one of the best I've had -i mean you don't get the crispy rice which I also loved but other than that, it was filling, delicious and wholesome. The red wine braised beef is a long time favorite (I always make sure someone or myself gets it so I can have a few spoons but the portion has been decreased from before). Service and ambience is great also, not that long of a wait if you don't have a reservation for peak hours on the weekend which is nice.

Clément Anthonioz-Blanc

From the moment we met the gentleman at the front to the moment we left, everything was really terrific! Our server was helpful, knowledgeable and friendly and the food was very good! A great experience and highly recommended.

Great service universally (I've gone maybe 6 times now). Good appies. Good beer selection. Food is good but not amazing. I enjoyed the Brussels sprouts. Nice patio with energy of Gastown. I keep coming back!

I went with 3 of my friends and we were quite disappointed with the food. It's a bit pricy for what you get. Service and location are good things but expensive for what you get.

Joe Jr Gabaldón

Simply the best mussels I’ve ever had in my life! They are generous with the portions too and even gave me bread to mop up the amazing, flavorful sauce. Their old fashioned was delicious, not too strong or sweet and a great way to start the meal. The service was impeccable as well. Highly recommend!

D J

Nice food ans good service. We has the platter for 2. 28.95 per person. Steak was done right ans the salmon was tender and tasty. $$$.

Bhumit Patel

I got the chicken drumsticks and a salad. The drumsticks were very good but I asked the waitress to go light on the sauce and I'm pretty sure she ignores me. The salad was very good with lots of fresh ingredients. The big problem was we came with our pregnant friend and they served her fried chicken way under cooked. That seems dangerous for any customer but especially for a pregnant person. They didn't end up charging us for the dish but hopefully they'll be much more careful with that in the future.

Katrina Barrie

This is a wonderful place to visit. The staff were super friendly (or maybe I'm just used to American restaurants). The salmon was perfectly cooked, dessert was beyond satisfying. Please spend your dollars here, well worth it. And the prices are great for the quantity!!

Dr. Mia Su Cary she, her

Great place for brunch or casual dining .

Steven Pastores

This was our first meal in Vancouver and it did not disappoint. We were seated quickly and the food was really good. The Pulled Pork Poutine was the main attraction, but the bone marrow cheesy bread was a close second. The fish duo (Salmon and Halibut) was also pretty great. Good food, laid back atmosphere, highly recommend!

Trina Cochran

Came for a 20-person company dinner; they sat us in the back in a semi-private room next to the kitchen. The service was top notch and the food was AMAZING. We still talk about it as the standard against which all other company dinners are measured (except for that one time we had king crab... but I mean really, what beats king crab). The manager was very patient with us throughout our restaurant / menu selection process; would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to hold an intimate function here.

Jake Bethel

I waited about 45 minutes for my food to come, service took forever from ordering drinks to actually ordering my food. Wasn’t even busy. Well once my food eventually came I had to get it packed up to go because I had no time to stay and eat. Once I had a chance to eat my food, I found my chicken was very raw and pink. I will not come back, and do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Mohamadreza Deishidi

The happy hour is a great, great deal with fantastic selections. The regular dinner menu has the AMAZING pulled pork poutine and the AMAZING brussels sprouts. Consider the maple sugar pie, as well, which is basically molten caramel that feels similar to eating warm pecan pie. The ice cream on top goes a long way. MMM.

Angie Howie

Great brunch. Started off with the Bacon Bourbon Sour which paired so well with the crisp salad in the Country Style Breakfast. So good.

Todd Keck

Had a lovely bartender who helped us select some good cocktails

Nathan Wilson

Food is really good and the restaurant is nice. Too bad the service is inferior. We came in to the restaurant and they put us on the waiting list, they told us they would call us whenever our table was ready but that just didn’t happened. When we noticed time passed by and there was no call we returned to the restaurant and they simply told us we were not on the list. They gave no further explanation and they didn’t even apologize for the incident, we had to wait an additional 15 minutes before we got sitted. Waitress forgot to bring cutlery to our table and never brought one of the dishes we ordered.

Joshua David

Excellent appetizers and great prices during happy hour. Cool spot in the historic Gastown.

Damien Fleurisson

The Flying Pig is a decent choice if you're walking around Gastown. Good atmosphere, staff were very professional and nice. The selection, however, is very limited and the prices are high. Ordered a roasted half chicken for 20$ and wished the portion was bigger, and more flavorful. Ordered a caeser salad and it never came. The side we ordered came out when we were almost done with our meal. It was a little underwhelming

Jenna Holcroft

I went here for a brunch and I was definitely not disappointed! I ordered the classic benny and it tasted absolutely amazing! The staff is very friendly and the service is quick. The atmosphere is very pleasant.

George Yamine

Always tasty and great service! The salmon special was delicious. The patio is a bit jammed for space though and we were always hitting our legs on the outdoor tables (maybe a design flaw)! Would love if Gastown patios were a bit more dog friendly, but it may just be a neighbourhood thing! Great long-weekend kick off.

Samantha Nelson

I came with my partner after reading good reviews. Well I was not that impressed. They gave us a table just by the entrance and we asked to change as the wind as blowing madly. We just had a not possible the restaurant is full. Ok fair enough... but some tables were empty the whole 90 minuts we stayed there. Service ok the waiter was lovely. Food is ok but overpriced. Half chicken and mashed potatoes for $30... at least if it was organic. Loud music. Anyway won't go again not for us.

Probably one of the best happy hour menu in town. Great selections of salads, mac and cheese and meat items. Their truffle Mac and cheese was sooo good and portions were very good too. I could go back and have that everyday????

Amir Hadid

I came with a friend during happy hour. The alcohol and snack prices were really reasonable, and the selection was great as well. The mussels were fantastic, especially for the price, although the charcuterie plate could have had a bit more meat and a bit less bread. We weren't staying for dinner, but the dinner menu looked great, and if you're looking to spend some money, he specials looked phenomenal. A good place to get a drink at the end of the day with coworkers, or for dinner.

Ilse Franckaert

(I don't know how to respond except to write a review) The place is too dark. I guess this is a norm these days but I think I cannot enjoy my food that much in the darkness. This also renders the chalkboard menus useless. No, please, go in there in the evening and check. Waiters look too busy and service is not that great. For instance, the food sits on the counter for too long - I got a cold steak. Yes, it was medium rare as I ordered, but I expected outside to be hot. The rest of the food was decent, tasted great. I know the location warrants it, but the price is too high for what is offered. Again, food is good, but the rest of it spoils it.

Charlie & Christy Stilwell

What a great place! My first time there and thought the food was excellent! Really had the nice touches! Friendly service staff and excellent food and ambience! What more could you ask for. Definitely going back, have already spread the word....! Great Place and oh.... So reasonably priced too!

Rachael C (MsRachieboo)

My friend and I always dream about their Wagyu burger and come here sometimes. They serve very good food. I love eating here.

Karley Hatherell

Came here for dinner on NYE with the husband. Food, service and ambience was really great. I ordered the special sablefish and the hubs ordered beef short rib and a pea soup for starter. All three meals were cooked really well and we were pretty impressed. Then it came to dessert and what a let down...we ordered the vanilla cake and while it was served quite prettily and size was big, the cake itself was below average, stale and honestly tasted like a grocery store cake (I tasted better grocery cakes tbh). You would expect a better tasting cake for a restaurant. We probably should have went with the server’s recommendation of the lemon tart.

Caelo Marroquin

Good food in a great atmosphere with very good service. The roasted half chicken we had was very delicious. The macaroni side (with big macaronis and blue cheese) was very tasty! The duo of salmon and halibut was mediocre, would not choose that again. Recommend going here, also when you have a kid. They have high chairs and handle children very well

Cynthia Richard

Enjoyed the black walnut old fashioned with the mussels pei and shoestring potatoes which were fine and thin enough to be a topping and the lemon tart dessert was exceptional.

Shawna Steinwand

5 star service from Oscar and 5 star food and drinks!

Sara Tavakolian

We randomly came across this restaurant but we later found out that this was one of the most recommended restaurants in Vancouver. The service was fantastic and the staff were very polite and nice. We ordered 3 different types of pasta and shared them amongst ourselves. The quality of the pasta is good, flavours are spot-on. The only downside is that the price is a bit hefty. The ingredients used is not something super extravagant or special, but the handmade sauces really elevates the flavour.

Brittany S

Super expensive posh dining, perfectly cooked foods. Once in a blue moon, or just because I'm in the area and can't be bothered to travel further for foods. Portions left me hungry.

Ephraem Mirhady

The Flying Pig is a popular restaurant and for good reason. The service is excellent. The waiter was quick with the daily menu offerings and suggested some truly tasty dishes. We were seated outside in the cool evening, but didn’t feel a chill because of the significant warmth coming from the heating coils hanging from the ceiling. The outside has very little walking room and was fairly cramped at the end with two bistro tables across a tiny aisle. The first suggested dish was the salmon sampler. For entrees, our waiter suggested the Steelhead trout as well as the mussels and frites. We were not disappointed. Food was promptly served, and regardless of our distant location on the patio, we were never without attention. At times we were brought plates by someone other than our server and he was gracious enough to offer us beer replacements during his short but comedic visits. The Flying Pig was definitely the restaurant highlight of our trip.

Florian

The hash browns were the star of our brunch here. The French toast was also amazing. Can't wait to come back to try the poutine!

Chafik K

The place and the food are amazing! (I especially love the three pea soup.) I'll definitely keep coming back.

Alex Favaro

Personally, I didn't like the food or the liquor selection. Steak was chewy, soup rather bland and uninteresting bread. Service was good though. Not a cheap place.

Brock Johnson

Was really looking forward to going here after reading all the great reviews but after eating a sub par meal and paying over $8 just for 90 minutes parking I suggest going elsewhere. Came for brother in laws birthday party and ordered the pulled pork sandwich that came with fries and Caesar salad. First, it took over 40 minutes to get the meal and it wasn't even that busy, they had just opened up. For the price you're paying I was expecting good portion but was disappointed at the amount. The fries were the only decent item on the plate, the salad was literally tasteless and had very little dressing - only ate half of it. Biggest disappointment was the pulled pork - I actually opened the bun to see if there was any meat inside! The portion was ridiculously small and really bland tasting-very little seasoning or bbq sauce. Overall a sub par meal and very forgettable one at that.

Charles Gagné

A really great place to enjoy a meal with someone. Great environment and great food. A good meet up place for friends or family.

Ian Loomer

Fast and taste food, excellent service ???????? if you try I believe you are not gonna be unhappy in this place????

James C

Dinner was fantastic. Drinks were stellar. Joe and Danica made our last dinner in Vancouver (while visiting) a great experience. They made our 8 year olds feel like grownups and mom and dad were able to enjoy dinner.

Foxx Cant

The food was so awesome, three of us came in and we're immediately sat even though they were super busy. We each ate something different and tried a little bit of each other's and it was all so good. You really do get a good portion of food. Great atmosphere! I really can't say enough great things about this place.

Priya Khajuria

Great ales good food and atmosphere. Loved the taster 1/4 pints

Farrah Khan

My partner and I came here yesterday for happy hour, as we think it's one of the best in the city with respect to the menu items and the value. We had a bit of a slow start to our service due to several Christmas parties happening in the back, which was understandable. As a result, our server acknowledged our slightly extended wait, and we were very well taken care of throughout the rest of our visit. Unfortunately, I can't recall his name (to management: we were seated in the lounge if that helps to identify him, to pass along our gratitude!). We'll definitely continue coming here and recommending this to our friends!

Matthew Johns

Good food. Interesting atmosphere. Been there a few times. Have a unique, different experience each time (good and bad). First time I was told that they couldn't accommodate my allergies. Server had attitude. Another time I had an excellent experience and the server went above and beyond. There's usually a line up at the door. Door staff often seems stressed and not overly friendly (at least not to the level you usually see in vancouver). Tables are quite close together which is normal in other cities, but always feels a bit too crowded for my liking. Good is fresh and high quality. Asked a server how she would describe the food and her response was "comfort food". I can see that but it does have a higher end feels than Burgoo.

Antony Ta

They have happy hour for cheap drinks in the afternoon, but the downside is you can't sit on the patio if you just want drinks

Poohh Sakiya

It was quite nice place. And food was nice. Customer service was also good, and i felt comfortable about interior.

Kimberly Scholten

We were in Vancouver a few weeks ago and ate the Flying Pig. Just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful time, the food was fabulous and the service was Impeccable. The server was so helpful with helping us with the menu and provided us with some great suggestions. We loved everything that was recommended. Thank you Mary Happy Customer!!

Hayden Walsh

Good food, alright selection of beer. Atmosphere OK, servers are really friendly.

Javier Rey

Very welcoming, I come by every time I’m in Vancouver. I recommend the truffle Mac and cheese!

Hiroe

The service was good, but the food was definitely not worth it's price. My girlfriend had the veal and it was dry and had a funky taste to the sauce. I had the braised short rib, and it was very overcooked and dry. The short rib came with roasted bone marrow which was roasted for so long it was like eating the bone itself. Definitely not worth the price. Would not recommend eating here.

Maya Napier

Very tasty meal here. We split the pork chop which was cooked perfectly! We also had the brussel sprouts and rissotto as sides and they were delicious. They have outdoor seating which is great for people watching. The waitstaff and management are very friendly and attentive!

Katherine Szerk

Wasn't a fan of the food. :( It was actually not my first time eating at your location, but the food didn't satisfy me, unfortunately. For example, we ordered risotto, but the risotto was tasting like rice pudding with to much cream, not enough flavor, I have the same comment for few other dishes that I have tried there over period of time. I would say the food is not worth the price!

Jazmine Smith

Definitely not a place to pop in for a 'simple' lunch but the food is very good. We both had the pulled pork sandwich and the portion size is massive. Service is friendly enough too. Cool space.

Jennie Yan

Been here now for brunch and lunch and both times it was a solid experience. They do a nice job of twisting classic dishes into a new experience and the location is top shelf! Will visit time after time for sure!

R Herten

We went here to eat during a visit to Gastown and it was delicious. The ambiance is hip, sheik, and casual. It's a great venue to eat some good well prepared and presented food after wandering around sight seeing. I had their special featured pasta which included: Pesto chicken jumbo macaroni, white cheddar, grat un, and garlic toast. It was very good, but I would have liked a slightly larger portion. However, it was a lunch portion and I was overly hungry! I also had a chance to try the bone marrow cheezy bread and that was also mouth watering. My friend had the shortrib jumbo macaroni and unfortunately that was a miss because it was a little on the bland side for some reason.... But beyond that our experience was positive and it was worth the slightly higher cost per-person for lunch.

Kaylee Iverson

Probably the best restaurant I have ever been to, it is just so good especially the vanilla waffle!!! ????

Patricia V.

I ordered a sirloin steak with medium and a maple sugar pie. Got to say the sauce and the steak itself are just excellent! Little hard …

eric pike

Fantastic food, great service and a reasonable price. 'Chef Eric's Breakfast Sandwich' was delicious and the 'Hash Brown' (which I would have called a potato rosti) was a great accompaniment (I shared my hash brown - it was huge).

Joshua Nash

I absolutely ADORE this place. Service is friendly and attentive and the food is incredible. Love the cozy vibe inside too

Ian Spence

The SALTY Pig The best part of my experience was that the atmosphere was good , it was loud and busy. We went on a Friday night and they were very busy , we waited 30 mins for table. Our waitress was obviously very busy as well however I don't think this accounted for how absent or rude she was. We were seated and served with stale bread and olive oil. The waitress then took 25 mins to ask us for our drinks. The 25 mins consisted of her running past our table knocking our bread basket while ignoring us. When she did return she was was extremely rude , not remembering if she had told us the specials and saying I will take your order now. I asked to order some drinks first and she said said very abruptly while cutting me off "yes what do you want , it's all on this page". I wanted to know what the seasonal tap was and she interrupted me again and started pointing at the page saying they are all there. We each had the cheese board , it arrived with 5 very small pieces of toast for 2 people and was missing the olives and gherkins. The next plates to arrive were our mains (veal dish and sable fish) , they were both the saltiest plates of food I have every had , beating fast food chains for the amount of salt. We were both confused by small crunchy material in our fish and veal dishes , it was like soil or small rocks. I found out these were small pieces of salt. I really can't understand how or why they had so much salt on them , it wasn't just the meat but everything on the plate. I think without the full amount of salt on each plate the food would have been good. Looking at other reviews salt and bad services seems to come up at a lot. The front desk were pleasant to deal with though. We left very disappointed having been looking forward to celebrating my fiancées birthday with some good food and drinks.

Sina Strähl

Great place for good food. Friendly and prompt staff and a nice selection of drinks. Come here for brunch, lunch, or dinner. The mushroom gnocchi was awesome along with the bread pudding.

Apoorva Salimath-Kalasuramath

I had the lamb bolonese with a glass of pinor grigio. Good food and service. It was crowded for Sunday lunch but overall good quality service.

Kale Oleksuik

Truly great place. We were seated almost immediately, although I thought there would be a wait because of how busy it seemed. The food, service, and atmosphere were great. Prices were decent and good quality of food! I'll definitely be coming back here.

Lucas Stefanello Ferrari Remenegildo

Service was outstanding, food was delicious, local beers on tap top notch. Must try the truffle macaroni and brussel sprouts, out of this world.

Amy Morales

Good food and great service! Love the location, right in the midst of Gastown. Great beer selection for those looking a drink. Server was lovely and made sure we had everything we wanted and needed. Was a bit busy for my liking but that only shows how popular it is within the local community.

Navpreet Banga

You know what? I had a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience there. I truly enjoyed the taste. It was sometimes exotic, but also comforting. But I was served by RACIST. The server REFUSED me to give me the change and the white curly-haired server ORDERED me to give tip. Are you serious? But anyway I gave him enough tip because I didn't want to ruin my night, but then he said even worse. WE CANADIANS DO PAY MORE TIP. Excuse me? Is it because I am looking asian so you assume I don't know how to tip? Are you really kidding me? I spent more than 2 years in this lovely city, Vancouver, and I do know how I pay tips according to my satisfaction. SHAME ON HIM. I still regret I did not call the manager and make proper punishment sth or whatever on him. Seriously. I will NEVER go there again. You ruined my impression of CANADIANS as you mentioned.

jessi major

5 stars for customer service - The waiter was able to move us to a quieter spot so we weren't sitting under the loud music speaker. He also was helpful with selecting a meal to accommodate dairy and gluten allergies. 3 stars for the food - The steak was on the dryer side and could have used more flavour. The seafood in the paella were cold when they arrived. It's possible that the meats aren't thawed before cooking. The vegetables were wonderfully done! If you like a louder environment, this place is for you! If you'd like a quiet romantic meal, then you may want to try another spot.

Drewzy Tran

I've never had a bad experience at The Flying Pig, and I've been to three locations! I highly suggested looking at the specials (see photo) because you won't be let down. My most recent visit included veggies, steak, risotto, salmon, and salad. The service is always excellent and friendly! If you're in an area with a Flying Pig, make sure to grab some food or drink!

Lindsay Gallagher

Amazing service and food. Special thanks goes out to Lisa for expert recommendations and an overall incredible experience.

Mika

My 3rd time there and I really like the food, atmosphere and service. The WILD BC SALMON, RED WINE BRAISED BEEF SHORT RIB MAPLE & MUSTARD CRUSTED PORK RACK (so good), CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS all were delicious. I believe all their menu is amazing. I was never disappointed there.

Jenny Clapp

The food was fantastic. I had the blackened trout and she had the lin cod. We also had salmon cakes and the onion rings with blue cheese dipping sauce. Great atmosphere and the staff was really friendly and attentive. Gas Town is a lively area and great for a night out.

Per Sundström

we arrived early for our reservation and the host accommodated us by providing seats at the bar. the atmosphere and ambiance was so lively that we ended up having dinner at the bar. nice spot in gastown!

Geoff Dyck

Wonderful restaurant and bar. We arrived during happy hour and ordered from that menu. Had the carpaccio (yum!) and pulled pork sliders, also delicious. David, the restaurant manager, took our orders and made our experience top notch! Highly recommend. Gastown location.

The Ritual Channel

Made a reservation for the patio as we had a puppy with us. Confirmed the reservation the day before but they gave our table away. They did apologize but we had a twenty+ minute wait for another table. The menu reads better than it tastes. The tomato bocconcini salad was marginal (tomatoes had very little flavor). Seafood pappadelle was lacking in seafood and very pedestrian. Mussels were good but the fries too spicy (and I like spicy). Chicken dish was ordinary. Service was OK but refill on soda took 30 minutes. Overall very disappointing, given how many great food places there are in Vancouver try somewhere else. Response to reply: If you don't take reservations for the patio, then why did you make one for me when I called and asked if there was sitting for a puppy and was told they were OK on the patio? In reality, our puppy wasn't allowed on the patio but on the sidewalk next to the patio. We appreciate the water and charcuterie board (although two of our party don't eat red meat).

Betty Gray Smoot (Pluferd)

Wow this place was good. I came in at 530 at the start of dinner rush, and I was worried I wouldn't get a table for hours. There was a line out the door! My wife had called ahead asking for reservations for us and the baby, and the host said he'd keep our name on top when we came in. They were nice to accommodate us with an infant, even giving our waitress an extra table (us) just to be nice. BTW, Bennie our server was great! I can't rave enough about her service. Food came out quick, was delicious, and of course you can't beat the ambiance of being right smack in the middle of Gastown.

Shaya Lyon

Amazing food. Sat at the bar for a few hours just chatting with the bartender Matt and he showed me the best way to make an old fashioned. Will always go here when in vancouver.

Mark Shannon

Went for lunch today, January 13th, 2021 and the food was great. My wife had a seafood dish and I had a vegetarian mushroom meal and they were both superb. The service was A+ and the place was very clean. Well done fellows!!!

Darko Aleksic

I had an absolutely delicious meal here with amazing customer service. Anna and Dean really went the extra mile to make it a memorable and comfortable experience. I came here for the roasted bone marrow and cheesy bread- but I will definately be back to this location specifically because of Dean and Anna being AWESOME at what they do.

Colleen Lomas

Extremely busy... kind of feel like you are in a conveyor line... a little impersonal.... food was decent though ... appetizers were much better than the entrees

Audrey “Theaudestcooper” Cooper

10/10 perfect experience! Thank you flying pig for making the birthday surprise so amazingly memorable! ????????

Mark Jeffries

Great atmosphere. Great front of house. Large portions of delicious food. The only downside to this place is trying to choose what to actually order.

Daniel Yang

Just left from what was our worst experience in Vancouver this year. Food and drink was awful. Clams were barely cooked and room temp. Our drinks were gross. The service was next to none. Won't be back as this is the second time they failed horribly.

Rebecca Acton

We came here for lunch and was craving some hearty and heavy comfort food. We shared the cheese toast with bone marrow, the lobster Mac and cheese side and the mussels with matchstick fries. The bone marrow and cheese toast is so good on a cold day. The fat will warm you right up. The mac and cheese and the mussels were average. The matchstick fries were a really big hassle to eat and felt wrongly matched with the mussels. It would have been better with thicker fries. Service was slow and lacking. More specifically, we were a group of 9 people celebrating a birthday (I understand that 9 people can be a big group to manuveour) and we had repeatedly asked about the bill and about dessert. We were told that it would be coming soon but we also emphasized that we had to get back to work because our lunch break was over. After waiting a good 20-30 minutes for the split bills we were finally able to pay and leave. They gave us the birthday cake on the house which was nice but they also made us late getting back to the office.

Nicole Charlton

Loved the atmosphere - really cosy and lively for happy hour. This restaurant was recommended as having a good gluten free happy hour and while it does have some options I don't think they are very good if you have celiac. The meat and cheese board is good and reasonably priced per person but I would recommend getting something else to go with it as it's not enough on its own. Service is good, but not out of the ordinary.

Randall “Ranbo” Alexander

Went here for my birthday last week and what a disappointment. Not only did our server barely acknowledge us, taking forever to get our drinks, take our order, not quality checking our food until we were halfway done as well as not bringing my friend pepper for her food, but I wasn't even wished happy birthday, even though my friend who got there before me told both the host and our server beforehand. Super disappointing experience all around after not having gone out in months.

David Child

Food is not that good. Great atmosphere. Server can be annoying with upselling. I know she's just doing her job.

Mark Burns

Excellent food, and excellent service. Very attentive and helpful staff. Accommodated dietary restrictions with ease and offered wonderful alternatives.

Shanon Kelley

Really really wanted to like this place... if I could, I would give the entire back-of-house 5 stars for delivery of the food, because they did a spectacular job with my boyfriend and I's meals. We came in last night around 10:30 I'd say, seated right away with no issue. At the beginning our server was attentive, took our food order right away, but after that fell short... We didn't see him for probably another 15 minutes until we spotted him making drinks behind the bar. It took another 5 minutes to flag down another server to refill our waters. Shortly hereafter, our food was received and my boyfriend asked for a side of whiskey pepper sauce from ANOTHER server/food runner that was not our own original server. He nodded and said it would be out right away.... It took probably another 10 minutes of us waiting and my boyfriend getting frustrated with the underwhelming service for us to ask, once again, for the whiskey pepper sauce. Only here was when our original waiter returned, asking us how our meals were (while we were practically finished eating at this point.) If I was rating this experience strictly on service I probably would have given 1 or 2 stars. The gentleman at the door was friendly and took us in right away, but unfortunately the underwhelming service from our server was enough to leave us both surprised and disappointed in this restaurant. My advice? Order your food for pick up and eat it at your own home, because the kitchen truly does an amazing job and deserves to be recognized. Avoid the underwhelming service you would face if going in to dine.

David Briker

Charming with great service. Lemon tart is excellent. A terrific happy hour spot.

Vincent Tempera

The food here was delicious and the service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and was always refilling our water, and served the entre that we were splitting in two bowls for convenience. We asked for additional crackers with our charcuterie board and we were given them at no extra cost. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. Its a busy place and we had to wait a bit before being seated, but they have a convenient waitlist where they call your phone when your table is ready, so we were able to do some shopping while we waited. I would come back here and I would recommend this place. The Brussels sprouts are phenomenal!

Adam R

This place is over priced and the food is sub-par. I ordered the pulled pork poutine and it was disgusting. Super sweet BBQ sauce instead of gravy and the portion was tiny considering the price. Service was ok, but nothing to write home about.

Alré Thomas

I ordered items that I typically wouldn't have tried at other places but if definitely paid off when I ordered some experimental choices. Take a risk and you won't be disappointed!

yiwen chen

Great food and environment we enjoyed several plates of pulled pork sandwich, blackened salmon, lamb and rigatoni plates among 8 people and all great

Joe Jimenez

Great atmosphere, cool building and very Gastown. People love this place and it's always busy. Personally, I find most of the food quite heavy and borderline greasy but it's worth a shot. I'd recommend the pulled pork slider as an appetizer. The poutine is very popular.

Jessica Robles

Really good service. Selection wasn't too overwhelming. Had the beer battered halibut burger and it was good. Came with fries and coleslaw. French fries were good. Coleslaw was okay. Overall good experience.

Art Center Morro Bay

Great food, I ate bone marrow out of a bone.. and it was good! Great vibes, good wine, reasonably priced.. call to see if you need reso

Jenny Tao

In a nut shell overpriced for the quality of the dishes. Nothing really wrong with the food other than being twice the price it should have been. Order blackened trout and companion had sea food sampler. Salmon/trout was over cooked and they used frozen peas and dry pasta to make the ragu underneath. Seasoning fair to middling but for the price I was expecting more. Companions sea food medley was well...... bland seemed like someone was afraid of offending the diner with a flavor of any kind. Everything was well plated and presented. Waiter was clumsy but friendly and ethusiastic. But at the price point they are at I expect the culinary game to be stepped up a notch if not 3.

Tracy Q

Pasta was not bad, but burger was terrible. It was burned. It was really hard to cut even with knife. And I got wrong receipt, I have no idea I paid right price or not. I was in hurry cause of parking, so I did not complain and check the bill. I will go to Vancouver again, but I'll never go that restaurant again.

The Sqootz

I’d do 2.5 stars if I could. The host was nice, our server was just ok. Took a while to take our order, then to refill our drinks took a long time as well. At the end of our dinner there was quite a long wait to get our check. Food was decent. Based on the reviews I expected better.

Jackson Tunder

I've been here drinks, brunch, lunch, and dinner - great food all four times. Service has been friendly, food is consistently on the ball, only thing I'd say is that last time I ordered pappardelle and the pasta I got was more like fettuccine. Overall, vibrant atmosphere, and fresh menu choices!

Michael San Felipe

The restaurant is very dark only having a small table top candle providing light. Service was great! I had ordered a blackened trout dish and found the trout to not edible. Far too dry for my liking. I would come back though as their menu is quite diverse.

Steve Engle

The British host gave us his entire greetings speech without having made eye contact once...was face down in his computer the entire time. Otherwise The food was great

IamI A

Awesome place for hang out & date night! Wish I live in Gastown then maybe I’ll go every evening to enjoy their awesome happy hour with various food options! Gotta love their dish -I found some of their dish a bit salty so just be aware - but I live the look of the restaurant, servers were all nice and my stomach was also happy at the same time :) Parking is a bit challenging but it’s in the middle of gastown so a lot of things to look after your meal so like I said, great place for date night! ????

Amy

The food is awesome but it's a little bit heavy for me. More veggies is much better. By the way, the service is good. Worth trying it at all!

Marie Hong

every time I got to Vancouver I have to stop here to eat, Ask what the special is! It is always big enough for 2 maybe 3 I recommend making a reservation it’s always busy and the service is awesome. They do a great Job here!

Kirk Chantraine

Not so great. I asked for a "European blue" New York steak and it came Medium Rare... with Frites so salty I could not finish them; dessert too sweet...

Gerardo Malpica Perez

Best mac & cheese I've ever had, and I've had many. Go for the half-priced appy hour. Nice party room at the back was great for a work team outing.

Aiko Crutchfield

I know normally eat hamburgers and pulled pork sandwiches here on New year's Eve I tried the pasta and it was not even close to what I expected everything else was great

Sazan Bimo

Friendly staff, great food, slow bar

Cameron Harrison

Brilliant staff, terrific location, great decor and the food was sublime! Literally too good to be true at such a reasonable price. Eat here if you can

Wife & I visited the area following a Alaskan cruise in June. We asked locals for the top 3 "MUST SEE" affordable destinations in area. All three were wonderful. Recommendations: #1 'Appy Hour at The Flying Pig - Gastown (delicious), #2 Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge (breathtaking), and #3 Granville Island Market (exhilarating) rounded out the 3. The "Pig" was clean, beautifully decorated, staff were friendly and attentive, appetizers scrumptious (is that a word?), and drinks potent & reasonably priced. We ate almost every appetizer. But, the "Truffled Mac & Cheese," "steamed clams," "halibut poppers," and great atmosphere will have you falling in love with this place. We enjoyed it enough to return the next day. We wish they were here in Maryland.

Terry Zhang

I can't believe how many 4 and 5 star reviews this place gets. Service is very good, drinks and food are good...FOR A BAR. That can be the only explanation right? I flipped to a random review where a girl from Los Angeles raved about how her steak was on par with steakhouses in LA. She raved about how good her boyfriend's pork chop was, the appetizers, drinks etc. Based on that review and the 4 star rating, I made this one of my food destinations on one of the 3 days I'd be in town. When we got there, it was Saturday, about 3pm, and were seated immediately after confirming we would order from the dinner menu vs. The happy hour menu. There was a group waiting for the happy hour and they didn't get seated until 45+ minutes later, after I received my dinner entree. Now to my experience. The service was great. My waitress was very attentive and was knowledgeable about her recommendations. I ordered their pulled pork poutine $7.50, which would be the highlight of my meal. Fries were crisp, cheese curds were tasty, pulled pork was tender, and the brown gravy was sweet. Maybe too sweet, but it was good. Portion was small, maybe 4-5 bites each for 3-4 people. Dinner was their 14 oz rib eye steak, $36. It was a very average piece of meat. I ordered it medium, it came half of it medium well, half of it medium rare. Weird right? I guess that averaged out to medium. It came with some really thin fried potato sticks that were inedible. Pommes frites? I'd rather have fries thanks. The steak looked small and thin for 14 oz. It was very average, like from Cheesecake Factory, or basically any bar/restaurant serving steak that doesn't specialize in steak. Another ordered was the rigatoni Bolognese, $22. The pasta was on the dente side of Al dente, the garlic bread was very good, and the flavors were strong in the sauce. Lobster Risotto also ordered. It was very lemony flavored. Maybe overwhelmingly so, as it was more tart than rich and creamy, which is how Risotto should be. I didn't see any chunks of lobster...just a few little scraps here and there. No larger than a pea maybe. For $12 I expected a little more. In terms of drinks, the old fashioned appeared to be a little watered down, with a large ice cube and a small piece of orange rind. Not sure what whiskey they used but it was lighter in color than I'm used to. Overall, a very solid 3. I liked the vibe, the service, and the location. But I need to score based on the food and drink. If I could give it a 3.5 stars I would.

Devlin Fenton

Menu seemed 5-star, food was a disappointment. Could have been an Applebee's. Wait staff were great. Just a shame the food was uninteresting, tepid, and overcooked.

Simon Diemert

BC Salmon Sampler is a MUST TRY! Egg Benedict is average, it's just always my #1 choice for brunch. My friend ordered the Pulled Pork 4 Cheese Rigatoni, but I find the spaghetti too hard. See many great comments about Mac & Cheese so that's what I am going to order the next time I visit! Btw, I gotta mention their dirty Caesar is really good (ps. Steamworks Brew Pub Brewery makes good Caesar too!)

Jodie Buyck

I never ate there but the chef and staff are great as I was a top performer essential worker servicing them. Chris is awesome and hope you weather this merciless pandemic to rise from the ashes like a Phoenix to succeed.

Jo L

I asked for a NY steak (blue) and I’ve got a well done steak. Anyways the service was not the best and the prices are high for that quality.

Jessica Hebert

We had an amazing dinner here. Our waitress was knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating and helpful. Atmosphere and fitting out is top notch. But mostly all of these points pale to the quality of the food. We started with side dishes of the Brussels sprouts and crimini mushrooms. Amazing. Best mushrooms i have ever had. Then the Sunday night special porchetta. Only problem was it was too large and delicious and I ate too much. Thanks to all the flying pig staff. A credit to you all.

Emily

One of my favourite spot for lunch in Gastown! If you're keto, get the ceasar salad with pork belly croutons and a side of cauliflower casserole.

Jasmine Wang

Dissapointing. Cold environment. Not many options available on the menu. Rushing your customer for next reservations translates into bad customer service. As I went there to have a nice family lunch for the weekend, not to swallow food pay and and run out. The server was nice. . But I wont come back.

Sina Amini Niaki

We had a nice Thanksgiving dinner here. Though I feel the portions were a little less for the cost we paid!

Sonal Khosla

This place is incredible! It's classic but you don't feel restrained, very casual vibe and also as a great place for a date night. Food was amazing. We went straight with two entrees - one Mushroom Pappardelle and one Steelhead Trout. The pasta was perfectly creamy and had a great texture. The fish was fresh, tender and well seasoned. It came with rice which was tasty too. Service was great. We had two drinks and the total price was not even $80. This was one of the best places I've been to over the past year. Food Quality & Presentation +1 Ambience +1 Price vs. Quality +1 Service +1 Other - Drinks, Interior +1

Gawrsh. Yum. Service is ok. Food is delicious. Just have a look at my photos I've shared. We booked this place out for a mini gathering. Worth it. The story for the name of the establishment goes: The mother makes delicious food for her son throughout his life. The son says, "One day, I will make food like that for you". The response was, "Yes, the day pigs fly". Entre: "the Flying Pig".

Ulad Shauchenka

The service was lovely. Beers expensive 6.25 plus for a sleeve. Food. Mussels- Frits so yummy. Mussels dry ...not enough broth Pulled pork sandwich: soggy sandwich with to much sauce. fries just ok

Griffen Wolfe

This used to be my go to place for eating with friends; however, the last 3 times I visited The Flying Pig the food was horrible. They over salted EVERYTHING--even the salad had salt in it. My dinner companions mentioned the food being to salty unprompted each time as well which shows it wasn't just my tastes that detected this. This place is typically very noisy, so much so that you have to yell at your dinner guests if you want to have a conversation. For the expense, the portion size is average. Ultimately, go to another place, there are other better options in Gastown.

Me and friends had a terrible terrible service experience in this restaurant. This is the biggest disappointment of our whole trip from Toronto to Vancouver. I’m giving one star only because I cant deny this restaurant has amazing chefs and their food is delicious. Our bills were not separated as asked, it was in subtotal ( were I in Costco? ) and what even worse is that the bartender not even our sever threw / tossed the bill on our table without saying a word. And when he turned around to help the bill of the table beside us, his attitude was totally different. ( it was a Caucasian young couple as well as the bartender) I mean we didn’t ask for our bill from this bartender who weren’t even our sever. Why would you give us attitude ? What did we do to you that deserved that? The most closest answer to his attitude was very likely that we are Asians. Our table ordered crispy Brussels sprouts, lobster and prawn risotto, wild seafood pappardelle, and a grilled halibut ( dont remember the whole name of the dish). The servers were inconsistent at our table. The first server who greeted us, took our orders, and served us food did a pretty good job. No one checked in while the table ran out of water, and we couldn’t find our server. So we asked another server that passed by for more water. Then almost at the end of our meal, a person that works at the bar came over and asked if we were done with our food. (But bro, some of us were still eating. I’m not sure if he didn’t see or he was rushing to close the restaurant. But it was 10:30 and the restaurant closed at 12. Also there were at least three other tables and several people sitting at the bar). He asked if we wanted the bill, so we said yes separately. So he did and it took him more than 30 mins to do so, again he was not our server. When he came back, he only brought one bill with separated subtotal. I mean, bringing us 3 separated bill was the least you could do and why would you put it all on one bill? ( or may he was trying to save the trees????). We didn’t mind to see each other bill, so it wasn’t a big deal. However, we couldn’t believe how he threw the bill at our table though. He walked rushed us to pay. This restaurant is well located around a lot of attractions. You gotta respect your customers might be multi culture. We felt we were being discriminated and humiliated in this restaurant and it nearly never happened to us before. Hope the management can address this issue. it would be a shame if the service is not at the same level as your food.

Adrian Kelly

Really good service, but not much food to choose, I picked a hamburger, was ok for the price I was expecting much much more.

hnoi latthitham

Nice brunch and good service. Brunch session was over and they still accepted my order.

Jasmeet Sangha

Wonderful food, surpassed only by the friendliness of their staff. Very willing to accommodate our families needs on a busy Saturday night. Will definately be coming back.

Brian Welkin

Amazing dining experience. Great food recommendations from staff. A bit of miscommunication as my husband and I had a bunch of food left over which was not packed up to go which we thought we had requested. Joe reconciled this issue and had some fresh food made up to go for us in less than 10min. This is how you retain customers and inspire them to bring new patrons to the restaurant! So pleased with their dedication to customer service! Keep up the great work! We'll be back!

Michelle Watkinson

Great spot for dinner. Service was great and food came very quickly. Highly recommend the Poutine and Maple Sugar Pie.

Nathan Still

nice atmosphere & friendly bar staff. Risotto was FANTASTIC; the pulled pork poutine a bit salty for my tastes. Decent beer.

Alia Ramsay

This place offers a great atmosphere either to have lunch or dinner. Menu is not wide, although the offer allows to taste a variety of flavors and meets; fish, lamb, chicken or pork. Wine list is decent but beer list is short (own opinion). Service is great and location is convenient. However, there is no place to park, but the street or a private parking lot, as any other place is Gastown. Prices are decent and you will be happy when you mark you tip when you pay.

Nathan Charest

Overall I was fairly disappointed with the flying pig. The half chicken I ordered was pretty good and was fully cooked, however there still was some blood on it. The Brussels I ordered were over-saturated with vinegar and lost all of the natural flavour, and the risotto was just like the Brussels but with lemon.

Ben Yang

Great atmosphere, with an awesome happy hour menu. They also have an award winning pulled pork poutine! I would definitely recommend any of their happy hour menu items, you will not be disappointed. But if I had to choose favorites they'd be the beef carpaccio, truffle mac and cheese, and the mussels!!

Andrew LD

We stopped here for dinner on a rainy night but we were able to sit outside with the umbrellas. There were heaters too but they were way too hot for this night. Our server was attentive and prompt. We ordered a charcuterie plate and drinks. For the main dishes we ordered Macaroni Carbonara, Lamb Bolognese Rigatoni and Maple & Mustard crusted pork rack with poutine. The food came out hot and timely. The Macaroni Carbonara was ok but not very creamy, The pork was tasty and seasoned well. Just a tip, if you are seated upstairs on the window the people seated outside look directly up to you so if you are wearing a dress beware.

Alex Duncanson

Vibe staff and food was great 100% on that portion of the review, But apparently you can’t order much off the menu unless you are 2 people having the same thing ….out of 2 entree and 2 meals we were told 1 entree and one main meal was not available for us because its a meal that needs to be ordered a minimum of 2 ppl ! Seems very complicated for My girlfriend and I to have a date night ! Sad because what we did finally get was amazing but sadly can’t say that we will be back !

Jessica Stotts

I went here to catch up with some of my girlfriends and I think it was a great spot to do so. The server was so consistent and had a smile the whole time. The only issue I had is parking and the food was alright. Aside from that, it has a great aura to it!

Anne Hong

Was greeted and seated promptly. Service checked in often and clear plates quickly. Ate & drank during happy hour. Taste was good enjoyed the mussles. Wished the wings were bigger portions and other plates. Will be back another round to try other things.

Luke

Hello, You wanted me to send you an email on your rating but it bounced...so here it goes! My friend and I visited the gastown location for a brunch. We were sat down right away. Server came by with the menu while a family of three were sat beside our table. Server took that tables order before even asking us which was fine. We ordered our meals and drinks later. My drink came well before my friend's. That was fine too. Server engaged herself with the table beside was with chitchat but not us. That was okay as we were busy talking to each other anyway. I wanted some hot sauce and jam but the server wasn't around nor asked me in time if everything is good or if we need anything else. Ah well I had my drink to spice up my toast. We thought it was weird that my friends drink seemed so different from what we imagined. She ordered the prosecco pineapple punch. However we noticed her bill had pineapple and rum punch instead. That was okay because she liked her drink. When she gave us our bill she told us to take as much time we need. Not even 5 minutes later, some other guy came around to collect our payments. That was okay too because we stayed a little longer afterwards. Cheers,

Jaylene Batten

Delicious. I would highly recommend this place in Gastown. The food was fantastic and the cocktails were very good.

Cal Caldwell

Had a good time there - food and drinks are good and also the waiter has been really caring. But price to value does not fit a 100%

Elena Gilg

Ro served us and she was absolutely amazing! My best friend and I were having a “double birthday dinner” because our birthdays were a week apart, and she treated us like queens. Her service was outstanding. She was personable and even though it was slamming busy she took the time to chat and get to know us. I appreciated that so much. She was such a sweetheart. Totally made our evening. Thank you, Ro!

R. O.

I didn't have a good time here. I am currently in the restaurant eating but my experience here is not that great. Not sure if it's because my race but most of the servers were careless and how they talk to us were uncomfortable. They were communicating to us as if we are 5y. And the starter bread, we didn't get them. I had to ask for it in the middle of my dinner. Every other table got one but us. Today's experience made me super uncomfortable. As for their service, 1 star is way more than what they deserve.

Eduardo Jacinto

My fiancee and I were visiting Vancouver and tried brunch here on our last day in the city. The service was absolutely on par, the food even better! It was so delicious and very well priced considering the servings. Definitely recommend! If we are ever back in town we will surely eat here again!

Sarah Voigt

Only giving it 4 because food turns cold really quickly. Perhaps keeping the plates hot would have helped. Otherwise food was on the tasty side.(cold food doesn't taste as good) Staff was quick and friendly. Atmosphere was great. It was as if we were having candle light dinner.

Samantha Sutherland

Smoked old fashion was awesome! Environment was fun. And bartenders were amazing! Definitely stop in.

Nicholas Erho

Great greeting at the door on a busy Sunday brunch. We were told to take a 10 min stroll and come back for a table which was perfect for us. Great drink and menu suggestions. Brunch was hot and tasty.

Colin DuCharme

Save your Money and Go else where where you can get better food and better service coming from their management team!!! They don't value their customers and they don't handle their complaints well! I come to this Flying Pig quite often with my friends and I hosted a few business dine outs. Unfortunately I recently encountered the absolute worst service. Their assistant manager, Wes, did not acknowledge my presence of waiting at the foyer for a table. He told me my guest would have to arrive first before I able to sit down. I told him my guest will arrive in 5 mins, which they did. However Wes has seated the other waiting parties after I arrived but those other parties didnt had their full party at the restaurant yet. At the restaurant I saw some empty tables and I was quite surprised I wasnt even offered a seat at the bar to get a drink first before my guest arrived as a common curiosity on waiting for a dining table. In addition I found my wait to be more than what the expected wait time proclaimed by Wes. When I approached him, he said I cant seat you until your party has arrived. And he also forgot I asked for a table in the Dining area and thought I was only there for happy hour. Then After I complained about his poor customer service towards me and the GM Gord came around and seated my friend and I in the upstair dining area. I mentioned to Gord I been a repeat customers for quite some time and it shocked me the most that his assistant manager denied seating me cause my party hasn't arrived but they have seated others first at a 4 person table but with two people still pending at the table. At other times the service were great in their customer service at the door but you would think an assistant manager would been properly trained with service to acknowledge their customers. Furthermore, after The GM seated my party and I, he mentioned oh I realized you do come here alot and they value their repeat customers and gain most of their business from their customers in the neighbourhood. I then smirked at him thinking he is being sincere cause it his job however the assistant manager Wes should of been more thoughtful and could of manage the wait crowd a bit better and apologise rather than step away from the situation and gave it to The GM to take care of (sign of rudeness that he couldnt handle his own situation) This experience had place a damper into my overall "preferred restaurant in Gastown" to go elsewhere with my business meetings and food dine outs that would accept guests that are waiting for a table (when there is empty seats to be fill) than waiting until their full party has arrived to get seats. The director of Ops - Jesse Dame, wasn't able to do much in follow up of my complaint. He pretty much said take my business elsewhere. Surprising coming from an upper management! to SUM IT UP! Unbelievable "TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE HANDLING" coming from this place, especially from the management team. There are so many other places where we can have a delicious meal and not have put up with the staff cause they won't do anything for you!

Angie A

The service had really gone downhill. I visited with some friends last Friday (30th Aug) and was seated upstairs. Our server (blonde, curly hair) was rude, abrupt, and unhelpful. She was clearly in a bad mood and kept banging and slamming things around. We felt like we were being encouraged to leave from the moment we sat down. When we asked for shot recommendations she told us that it's not that kind of place. We ended up ordering peach iced tea and it was bland and watery. We overheard her loudly lecturing another table on liquor laws, and could tell they were as unimpressed by the service as we were. I retrieved one of the water pitchers from the waitress station to refill our water glasses when we realized or server wasn't going to do it, but when she saw she snatched the pitcher back from our table. Then, when the food arrived it was overcooked. We'd come to spend the evening but felt so unwelcome we decided to leave early. When the server saw I didn't leave her a tip she confronted me and asked what the problem with her service was. I didn't want to make a scene in front of my friends, but hopefully this review explains why.

Matthew Li

Excellent and attentive staff that went above and beyond, great food, chic rustic atmosphere. This was our first meal in Vancouver and will be hard to beat.

Francis Roque

Went for happy hour and told when we got there it is only on the lounge side and lounge was full. Sat on restaurant side but could not order off happy hour menu. Food was super tasty but three dishes were luke warm ..not hot. 18% gratuity included in our bill. Service was excellent

Sergey Brusentsov

Having lunch there with my boyfriend. We are arranged directly to the table close to the window. Pricing is good and quality. The server who helps us have big smile on his face. Overall is good.

Brandon Lakusta

I highly recommend the Rigatoni plate. From the sauce to the pasta to the garlic bread. Very delicious and also served in a welcoming portion. The staff was attentive and offered great suggestions. The beers were cold and there is a decent selection to choose from.

Mish R (beebalm)

Phenomenal service, awesome drinks, slamming food, and mouthwatering desserts. Loved the lemon tart!

Da Wanderer

The food is pretty good. The fried chicken is a must

Affy Ann

Absolutely amazing food and atmosphere, excellent service, but unfortunately this location is very cramped. I personally prefer the Yaletown location but both are amazing choices!

Luis Valdez

An alright pub experience. Prices are a bit high for the quality of the food compared to other eateries in the area. Not my first choice.

Liu Crystal

The maple sugar pie is to die for! Great atmosphere that goes along with great food. Good lunch portions and friendly service

Lucia Alonso

Very lovely restaurant. Their feature wild salmon with prawns was very delicious and well done. Wonderful atmosphere as well.

Aa Aa

Great service. Food is great. Brews are better and the flow in the resturant is really nice. If you're in the area and hungry or thirsty then stop here! Hope this helps.

Benny Kwok

I ordered a Caesar salad with roasted garlic and pork belly croutons, and beef short rib braised in red wine with beef bone marrow. A crispy Brussels sprouts side. The pork belly crouton was the reason why I wanted to try the salad. While bacon is perfectly smoked, they could have rendered it more to improve the texture. Most bites were returned with the sensation of "chewing the fat". The romaine was a bit lame. Worst of all, the temperature was tad high for a Caesar. The red wine braised short rib was served without any braising liquid. Frankly the meat tasted like it was braised in water sans herbs. I had to ask for salt. Yes, that bad. The crispy Brussels sprouts get an 8. Can't complain about the service nor price though. Staff were very friendly and eager to please. Everything in the menu is very reasonably priced. A bit noisy but typical for restaurant of this style.

Joy Z

Came in randomly from the rain. Friendly, professional staff, quick service, fun accessible menu. Made a meal of happy hour. Will come again.

Mauricio

I had a nice brunch here. Staff were friendly and knowledgable and prices are reasonable. Was quite busy when we arrived but were seated straight away. A nice spot in Gastown worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Benjamin Bolliger

Worst place ever to EAT, the mac and cheese was a waste of my money. The grease in it was just so disgustingly prominent... i saved Cheat Day for this meal and it was such a disappointment. The grease ended up making me sick.

Adam Zav

Ambience and service were good, but the food was mediocre and overpriced-- half chicken was dry and veal picata was thin and tough. Pinot gris wine was overpriced.

Bria Trudeau

Went for appy hour with some colleagues. Great value and the apps were all amazing. Truffle macaroni was the crowd favourite.

Margaret Scott

Awesome food, service and atmosphere here. We had a party of around 40 and everyone had a great time. Food was amazing. We spent a few hours here and service was great the whole time. Definitely a great spot to stop and have some dinner.

david dunne

The food was great, and our server Bennie was so much fun.

Eric Sather

It's a good place to eat but you have to remember half of the price for your supper goes to rent there.☹.

Greg Bem

Their service is definitely great and food has a good presentation. Cozy vibe and good view. I gave three star coz the food is not exactly same as my expectation, not their fault. The gravy is a bit plain and I am expecting the food with stronger flavor. I am appreciate they still working on holidays and bring good experience to people.

C K

Amusing interior design, located in the heart of Gastown, super friendly staff, best for meat lovers, food was good but a bit heavy.

Big J

Went there for Happy hour... The $5 wine is pretty awful. Total cheap garbage. Then we ordered after Happy Hour was over. Mussels ($20.00) came totally cold with barely any sauce. The Onion rings add on ( extra $3.00) also came cold and dry. Obviously none of it was prepared fresh and absolutely held over from Happy Hour. What a cynical and lame way to run a restaurant and treat paying customers. Serve stale old over priced food. Don't bother. Server was nice enough.

Chantel C

I came with a friend during happy hour. The alcohol and snack prices were really reasonable, and the selection was great as well. The mussels were fantastic, especially for the price, although the charcuterie plate could have had a bit more …

Tamara Colgan

Sat at the bar to watch the NCAA football game. Brussels sprouts were amazig. Poutine and seafood risotto were good, not great. Would like to come back for dinner to try the entrees. We liked the blood orange wheat and the IPA.

Lauren Eckhardt

Great location but the food was not impressive, service was ok!

Ashley Jackson

Great food with generous dishes. Great atmosphere and waiters were top notch. This place is busy but managed to get us in as a walk up group of 8 on a Saturday night. We are pleased we got in as it came with good recommendations and lived up to them every bit.

Nikolas Koschany

I loved how warm and welcoming the service was by the staff of this establishment. The food was greAt and the time spent was wonderful. As a single diner from out of town, I didn’t feel like I was left out and was glad to feel part of the experience. Will be recommending this to others :)

Craig Sinclair

Service was great! Brought out a free appy when they felt the kitchen was backed up. We didn't feel like it was though. Food was excellent overall great meal and experience.

TravellingWellman

First time trying this restaurant. Hand on heart would come again, we didn't know where to eat in gastown and all the reviews pointed to the big pig. Myself and another member of my family had the paella, and the third had the steak. Seafood was fresh and not overcooked. The saffron risotto would deff be a must have if your unsure about what to have. Granted most of the menu is a safe bet. Easy to get a table at lunch. DONT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE TRAVELLERS!!!

Hayden Shieh

Just had lunch at the Flying Pig. Very friendly and inviting staff which I appreciate very much being a short self conscious Latin guy. I ordered the Lobster & shrimp risotto and a martini for lunch. It was delicious...both were delicious! My only criticism would be: (1) the martini glass was quite small, and (2) there were large pieces of shrimp in the the risotto, but no visible chunks of lobster. If there was lobster meat in the risotto, it was unidentifiable. Albeit the dish was delicious and the beautiful friendly bartender also brought me bread and butter. All in all a great little experience for a one hour lunch break while traveling for work.

Win Biernacki

Excellent service, the chicken drumettes were really good. The seafood pappardelle was good. The sirloin was cooked perfectly but was chewy and a bit tough. The cocktails were very good.

Amanda Lim

Great food, amazing atmosphere. Sat out on the heated patio. Great service from our server Benny

Rouge Caramel

We both had the roasted half chicken. It was very tasty, and the portions - with mashed potatoes, and peas and carrots, were generous. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was good. The music selection was right up our alley, but a little loud for dinner. Took a little long to check out. Overall - highly recommend.

Sunday, 10/8/2017: My second time here, chosen again by my son for breakfast. We last went over a year ago and I was hoping their French toast had improved. (I really wanted crepes, or at least waffles or pancakes, but, sadly, they don't offer those.) I took a chance and ordered the French toast again. It is bad news. I is made with a bread so thick and heavy that you mostly end up eating just plain bread! The flavor is limited to the outer part. Maybe they don't soak it long enough in the egg mixture?? Maybe they need to cut the bread thinner so more of the flavor is distributed throughout? And really, they should scrap the French toast and offer the wonderful crepes and waffles you get in other restaurants in Vancouver. YUM! Also, we came in around 11:00 and b/c we're tourists wanted to sit in the balcony so we'd have a view. For the first time all weekend, the sun was out! "Oh, we don't seat people up there until 12:00 noon." So I look up there at 11:25 and they are seating people! (WE were seated back in the corner by the bathroom.) I guess you have to know someone here to get an upper table or at least look like a VIP. To the manager: For customers WHO REQUEST it, you should make every effort to let them choose where to sit, especially when the restaurant isn't crowded (which is wasn't...at all!) And if the person who works the balcony isn't there, you need to fix that. Why have a beautiful balcony with a view and not let customers sit up there? That is part of the reason people want to eat at your restaurant. I don't know what lunch and diinner are like here...but I'd never come here for breakfast/brunch again. Good things: hash browns and our waitress.

Nevin Thompson

Fantastic ! First time there and so impressed with not only the yummy menu but our waiter Sully ( Silly) was so great and excellent drinks ! Attentive , made to best suggestions, funny, cute too! Such a great experience ! Left my leather gloves there so il have to go back soon next time I'm in town!

Catherine Le

Everything's delicious EXCEPT the salmon cakes. I come here after work for the excellent happy hour, and order too many appies each time. Just kidding, no such thing. Be warned, this is not a vegetarian or light eating establishment. Ambience is slightly upscale, service is fairly casual but professional, amazing location.

Allicia Says

steak is very nice but salmon is bad

Jeff Spinelli (Jefechops)

This restaurant was almost empty at 7pm which made it quite clear it wasn’t the best. We sat down took a look at the drink menu which had about 5 beers to choose from all lager and IPA ended up with none. Awful wine selection. Had a waitress throw us a spoon onto our table and walk away. Absolutely awful restaurant felt like I was at a Montana’s.... Will definitely never be returning to this cheap shot of a “restaurant”.

Allie Ho

Worst service of my entire life. The staff was reluctant to wait on our group from the start, claiming we had an odd number of guests when we were waiting for others to arrive, because they didn't like to seat tables that weren't completely full. (Sorry, only even numbers of people allowed?!) We moved to a larger table and we're all sharing the apps, the waiter got bitchy because we weren't ready to order mains yet. It just went downhill from there and upon speaking to the manager, it was apparent that we didn't fit the demographic of their establishment on a Tuesday, despite having run up a bill for hundreds of dollars. Go to the Lamplighter across the street- it's a great place. The flying pig is a night of my life I will never get back

J B

Not bad for a tourist spot! I got the split pea soup and the rigatoni. The soup was so, so. It had a nice piece of ham hock but the actual flavour of the soup was kind of bland, and the texture was too mushy. The rigatoni was really good.

Thomas Wade

Excellent food and beverages. Exceptional service. Very friendly staff ????

Jeslyn

People working there are super friendly and helpful. But the food was waaaaay too salty. Chicken cutlet, Pea soup, even the Egg Benedict was surprisingly salty.

Alex Mu

Great place to get a tasty cocktail and enjoy a bite. Everything on the menu is delicious and the service is always great!

Brandt Gee (Brandtgee)

Great atmosphere, food, and service! Would recommend in a heartbeat.

Alexis Howe

Fun ambience and good tunes playing, reminded me of L.A.. Very hip, friendly and attentive service. The hostess was quite adorable, making sure everyone could see what was on the menu outside and seating people where they preferred. The salmon cakes were delicious, along with the wine. Portion sizes here are very generous. The lobster and shrimp risotto was buttery, creamy and dreamy. If you're looking for a great place to dine in Gastown, be sure to visit here.

One More Row

Had really good food here today! I've driven past this place a lot and was always curious. It's really good! The staff are super nice and the food was delicious! The pulled pork poutine is a must try. The fried chicken is so good.

Terry Rogers

Happy hours is worth the afford to get there early after long day work

Frederick Hasse

Every time I've been I enjoy the time thoroughly. The drinks are great, the food is superb, the staff and service is top notch! Great time...

Alex Gaidachev

Great location and delicious food! We were able to get in without a reservation on a Thursday night. The crispy brussels sprouts were a bit crispier than we like but other than that it was delicious.

Ciara McEvoy

Oh wow!! This please is fantastic. First time in Vancouver and a friend recommended this place to us. We where greeted and seated by one of the mangers had a great conversation. Our server was Nile from Ireland, he told us the specials and recommend a few things on the menu. The food we all had was fantastic the beer was great. Flying pig in Gastown, considering I was at the other end of the city, well worth it. If you are in Gastown you must stop in at the Flying pig for food, the price is very reasonable. Thank you, Nile, for making our visit amazing.

Laura Shapka

Spent the evening here with a friend on our last night in Vancouver before flying home to Alberta and MAN was it amazing. The food is incredible and the service was top notch. I forgot the name of our server but he was so friendly and willing to play along with our banter. Loved my time here!

Enrique Torres

Food is always great and there is quite a bit of variety so there is something for everyone. The service levels are always on point just like the one in Victoria and the atmosphere is fabulous. If you're looking for a great date spot, going out with friends, or even just a casual meal Flying Pig is perfect.

Vicky Do

If you want to enjoy a nice meal which catching up with some friends then I'd avoid going here since it is loud. The food is okay but the drinks are great.

viral era

Great place. I ordered 1/2 chicken and part was undercooked. They took it back, gave me a brand new order choice, apologized numerous times and gave us desserts on the house. Fantastic service, food and atmosphere. They couldn't have done enough to make it right!

Katie Lee

My wife and I dined here on a recent trip to Vancouver (Sep2017). We loved the Flying Pig. We went there for dinner based on recommendations from friends we were traveling with and it truly did live up to their praise. We had amazing food every night during our stay, but the Flying Pig just might have topped them all. The Blackened SteelHead Trout was life-changing! I hear the Rigatoni was right up there as well. Great low-key atmosphere, nice drinks, excellent food, excellent service...everyone in our party raved about it. I highly recommend when visiting Gastown!

Agnes Smith

Flying Pig comes a little costly but the service is really great. The ambience is quite more, romantic one could say. It's dim and loud so it was kind of hard hearing my friend but the food was pretty good so I can't complain. Will only come here again when there's a celebration or something special because my wallet is thinning :( Update: Also saw Cole Sprouse here

I would have given one star if it wasn't for the hostess and the initial greeting. The service was very disappointing. The server was plain rude. It took them a long time to get our order and much longer time to bring the food. When I expressed an allergy to the beets in the salad (there was no mention of a side salad in the menu, let alone beets) the server's response was "you should have said you had allergies" with a good portion of attitude and no apology! The food was also mediocre, and the funny part was that there was NO beef in the beef stroganoff macaroni! I would not return to this restaurant.

Inna Z

So first thing first friendly staff. I also want to add great drink selection (try the ceaser they are fantastic) However once seated the great service stopped, and were ignored for most of are stay. The food was a bit of a disappointment too. The bone marrow cheese bread was over done, and tasted burnt. My friends ahi tuna salad was over cooked as well and did not look or taste freash.

Adam B

Great spot for a glass of wine. Great vibe and great music

Trista Chen

I always like going to the flying pig for dinner and again was not disappointed. Their food is delicious, comforting and a great location to bring out of town guests which is what we did. Our server was attentive and kind and our food came out quickly. Expect to wait a bit since it's such a popular tourist area, but I think it's worth the wait.

Matt Conway

Came for happy hour, good food good beer, friendly staff.

Dave J J

Happy Hour appies were delicious

Richard's London

Great atmosphere, lovely staff! Everything was clean and the food was delicious! Spare rib was excellent, definitely recommend!

Kelly Thi Do

Super disappointed in my experience here. My partner and I shared the pulled pork poutine, salmon cakes, and the pulled pork sandwich and none of it was good, we hadn’t eaten more than a quarter of any of the plates. The food was definitely NOT worth the price. Staff was only okay, we waited for 15 minutes to get our bill when there were only about 4/5 other tables. I don’t know who our waiter/waitress was during our experience because we rarely saw them, but we had our waters refilled quite consistently so that was the best part of our experience. Would not go back or recommend.

Nicholas Doering

This was the best food we ate in Vancouver! The restaurant is situated in a hip Gastown district and offers great deals with happy hour and lunch menu. Staff was really helpful and friendly. Food was amazing! I especially recommend lobster risotto and truffle mac and cheese.

Tom A

Really fantastic brussel sprouts. Great brunch.

Matt Quan

My second time here and had the pulled pork sandwich with a beer. Food came out on time but as I held onto the sandwich it was oozing with grease which made it extremely unpleasant to eat. My napkin was drenched in grease as I continually cleaned my hands everytime I tried to take a bite. Ended up finishing only half of the sandwich. There were fruit flies lining up the rim of my drink as well. Service was overall ok. Will not return.

Bottom line: My favourite happy hour spot when I visit Vancouver. Good food, reasonable prices (4.75 drinks, $6-7 apps) and nice ambience/ location. I was in Vancouver twice in a month, once for work and once for fun and went to The Flying Pig Gastown for happy hour (appy hour as TFP calls it) both times and both experiences were great. The Food/Drinks: All of the appy hour apps we tried were good, and it's best to order a few things you can share. The standouts for me were the truffled mac & cheese (yum!) and salmon cakes with homemade tarter sauce. I don't eat pork, but the pulled pork sandwiches got two thumbs up from both groups I visited with. Appy Hour wine was $4.75 and the red, while not award winning, was very drinkable. The Place: Appy hour does get busy so if you have the option to go early, do. With work colleagues we went at 4 and has no issue getting a table, next time I went was 5:30 and we had to wait a few mins for a table and barely made happy hour. Service was decent both times, though with happy hour being so busy, don't expect your server to be by your table all the time. Decor is a stylish mix of modern and rustic, which I personally enjoyed. Happy hour is on the bar side and has big sharing tables and a few small ones. They also have a more traditional dining room on the other side and 2nd floor. When I visit Vancouver, Gastown is my favourite neighbourhood to wander. Lots of cool old buildings/ architecture and neat shops and restaurants. On a visit to Van this past summer a friend introduced me to TFP happy hour, and I'm glad she did. Next time I may try to go easy on the apps so I can try more of the regular menu.

Christa Watson

My partner and I tried this place while staying in Gastown. Overall, a nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and the food was pretty good as well. We got, I believe, something called the Salmon Sampler? It came with three types of Pacific Salmon (smoked, fried and candied) and was extremely tasty.

Kenny Wong

Went out for drinks with some friends and ended up at the Flying Pig. The atmosphere was great. I had a bison sour (best drink ever)! Definitely will be back to try their food out.

Georgiy Sukhanov

Ew! My meal had a fly in it!!!! The fact that my meal had a fly in it wasn't even the part that upset me the most. My work had lunch booked here before our Teem building event. As a vegan I looked at the menu beforehand to see what and if any options I had. Well, those options were the “Jumbo Onion Rings” or the “Rocket & Watercress Beetroot Salad” which was both appetizers and the salad had goat cheese on it. I really wasn't excited for either, so I emailed the restaurant to see if they could offer anything else, maybe customize something that was already on the menu without meat (I was willing to eat dairy as looking at the menu, I knew it would be a lot to ask to make something without meat and dairy). I never got an email back. When we got to the restaurant I looked at their menu again and quite a bit of the stuff that was on the lunch menu online was not on the menu in the restaurant, including the “Jumbo Onion Rings”. So, I asked the waitress if they had any vegan or even vegetarian options they could make other than the beetroot salad appetizer. She replied with no, I could have the Cesar salad without the bone marrow croutons if I was okay with the fish that was in it. I was not, so I decided to try the salad along with the “Grilled Farmers Thick Cut Toast” hoping that it would be enough to fill me. Well when I got my meal, the salad was very small and the toast was thin and hard enough that I could have used it as a weapon. So I got about half way through my salad and there was a fly in it. It was a very embarrassing and disappointing experience. I felt sick thinking about how much I ate that that fly had touched. And it was very upsetting that they did not want to accommodate someone who was vegan.

Balwinder Ruprai

I liked the food. The red wine braised beef shortrib that I had was fork tender. I loved the ambiance. Staff was friendly. The only downside really is when the staff offered to put my umbrella away, and when I was looking for it on my way out, they couldn't find it. It was my good (and pricey) umbrella. I almost gave 3 stars just for that episode. Could have easily given 5 stars if not for that experience.

Rachael GARTHSON

Delicious, great service, decently priced. In a hip area of town with a lot of other things to see. Below was our bone marrow cheesy bread— SO good!

Kelly Maguire

The food here is good. Very fresh and tasty. We had a prix fixe menu with like 5 courses and a lot of sharing type spreads with alot of different things to try out. It was all delicious. I'd come back again.

Radoine AIT LAARF

Very good ambience and accommodations. Very nice and friendly staff as we came in 20 min before last call for food and alc and they still were happy to serve us. The cocktails were all solid, except for the 'bacon' caesar. It was just flavoured bourbon and had no actual bacon when it came nor did it taste like it. The meat and cheese board was legit and above average. Where the food really excelled was the main courses, we got the halibut & salmon on top of risotto which was phenomenal. The seafood pasta with mussels was exceptionally tasty as well. Definitely a very good place to come and try. A little expensive but worth it for a nice night out here and there!!

Francisco Matz Trujillo

Holy moly. Get the mac n cheese..... crazy good. Pork sliders were real good too. Service with Anna was unbeatable... Coming from Texas i will def recommend this place!

Sheldon Wilkinson

Pretty solid dinner considering its location in the tourist haven of Gastown. We were pleasantly surpised by how good our food was. The shortribs and mac-n-cheese were fantastic! Salmon was a little overcooked. Prompt, friendly waitress as well.

Devin Hock

Friendly staff and a good selection of beers and wines. Their Google review page had pictures of items not listed on their menu, either a lunch menu or an old one?

Kyra Dickie

Great happy hour. Nice food selection and great location to hang out after.

Patricia Crowe

Very good food. Amazing and friendly service. Recommend to go during lunch or dinner. Esthetically pleasing.

Veronica Murdoch

Nice place to hang out if you are in the area for drinks. It could get really noisy but loved the atmosphere. They have quite a few locations now and they are pretty consistent.

Nancy Walcer

My rating is 3.5. I ordered salmon and the taste is OK not great. I was arranged to sit at the bar to have the dinner so felt not great.

Joe Lee

The worst place ever in Vancouver. The food was as bad as the service. The server was unhygienic as well as rude to us. Even after ensuring us that the restaurant was child friendly via phone while reserving a table , we were treated terribly at the restaurant with different servers asking us to do counterintuitive things. Never have I walked out of a restaurant feeling so embarrassed and vindicated while dining with my family, this one is the first. If you wanna spoil your day , I would highly recommend this place . I am writing a detail blog on my experience at THE FLYING PIG in GAS TOWN , VANCOUVER in the scout magazine. I will be attaching the link here soon as soon as I get back to Toronto . The best I can do is to warn you by sharing a terrible experience I had here, good luck if you still wanna go ..!!

Glenn Rowett

What a romantic place ❤️ I went there with my friend, had a Mediterranean board for sharing, then we had fish meals and it was super tasty. We don't drink so we got a pretty fancy ginger ale. It's quite pricey so be ready for that (we paid 45 $ each, no alcoholic drinks) Dessert were around 10$ so we passed. Definitely a good spot for special occasions.

José Arsenio Gómez Seiade

Came on New Year's Day. Not many places opened. They were so busy. Masterful at navigating groupg of people & super friendly and not frazzled by the busyness. GREAT food too

Raymond L

Probably one of the best happy hour menu in town. Great selections of salads, mac and cheese and meat items. Their truffle Mac and cheese was sooo good and portions were very good too. I could go back and have that everyday????

Lorraine Sonney

I would give it 3.3 if I had fractions. The service was better than average and the food arrived within a reasonable time considering the place was busy. The food, the three dishes we ordered, was a touch blend but well cooked and presented very nicely. Some of the sides like potatoes were not hot enough and became cold quickly. I would still recommend the place but lower your expectations.

Lee Lockett

Best restaurant we went to in Vancouver. And they were all quite food. My husband and I shared a special platter which was absolutely terrific.

Tim Chu

Food is wonderful. Had the rigatoni for lunch and it was great. Service has always been fast and friendly even when busy. Very pricey though, even for gastown.

Allison Richard

Excellent happy hour selection for food and drinks. Cozy feel, great location and service is amazing.

Alex Afanasev

The service and atmosphere was great. However, I was not impressed by the food or flavor combinations that were offered for happy hour. Maybe we'll have to revisit and try something new.

Edgar Sanchez

We went here to eat on our anniversary and it was delicious. The ambiance is hip, sheik, and casual. A bit dark but that's ok. It's a great venue to eat some good well prepared and well presented food. We've been here two times now and we've tried the: short rib jumbo macaroni, steak with Skillet Roasted Strip loin, mushroom gratin, the risotto and the bone marrow cheesy bread..Everything was great and would definitely go again.

Rafael Ferrero

Owner really takes care of the place. Great food. Nice ambience. The place is still shining after being a choice happy hour venue in dwntwn Vancouver for at least five years.

Susan Trout

Came for late drinks and happy hour. Drinks are nothing special but the TRUFFLE MAC AND CHEESE IS AMAZING. I never get Mac and cheese out because it’s grainy and the creaminess is never there. But this Mac and cheese...I will be back for it.

Aman S.

The food is amazing! Seriously never had food so perfectly seasoned in my life and really just so delicious with perfect serving sizes; im no bloated or ready to die giving birth to a food baby nor am i left starving for more. Its perfect for a special occasion since it is a little more pricey but worth the wait for my friends well-done steak. We were seated so quick despite coming at what looked like a peak time. It is popular so the atmosphere is a little loud but its enjoyable and i love the dim lighting aesthetic of the place! Service was so sweet, helpful, patient and nice! Definitely coming back! ♡

meghan hannigan

The service was exceptional. Marcus was attentive to our table at all times. The food was as described and an excellent combination of flavours.

micky guo

The Flying Pig is an average quality restaurant. Its servers pay attention to your calls, but not your needs. For example, when asked for some tissues, my server quickly came back with only ONE piece of a very small and flimsy tissue. If I were a server at this restaurant, I would definitely have given my customer at least four pieces instead of one. This lack of care by The Flying Pigs' servers could have very easily been solved. However, on the positive note, its servers were kind and the cooking was decently fast! Speaking of the cooking, the food there was satisfactory but sometimes the flavours were inconsistent. For example, our appetizer, the chick drumsticks, was tasty but certain parts of the chicken lacked adequate flavour while other parts had slightly too much. This was worse for my Pulled Pork Sandwich. Lastly the portions were way too large for LUNCH; even a bloody American would agree! A recommendation to the Flying Pig would be to minimize its lunch portions, after all, who wants to go to sleep right after a hefty lunch on a busy weekday? Lastly the atmosphere of the restaurant, FANTASTIC! Its interior design had a quaint, but romantic feel. While its exterior further accentuated this and made feel like I was eating in Paris. So, if you are going to this restaurant definitely admire its beautiful designs! The Flying Pig Gastown scores a 6.5 / 10 in my books. If you are thinking of taking high priority clients to this restaurant, DON'T!

Andy D

I'd like to rate this higher, but unfortunately it is not warranted. The food is nice, but not exceptional. The service is pleasant, but inconsistent. The pricing is excessive for what you get and the noise level is far too high for comfortable conversations.

Philip Edwards

Good atmosphere, friendly staff, average food. Good for a casual night out. The matchstick fries were very difficult to eat...

Olga Kamionsky

Came here with my friend and i was told about this place. We ordered Steelhead Trout, and the Paddelle platter. Very delicous, great atmosphere, and very friendly staff. I will be back.

Chris McNeil

Wonderful steak and overall nice place with lovely staff. I liked the bone marrow as well, even if my sister didn't. Recommended.

Yang Eva

While strolling through Gastown we decided to pop into The Flying Pig for just a drink and a snack . I am so glad that we did because we probably got the best waiter in all of Vancouver, B.C. Marcus, what an impeccable person and hard worker. His attention to detail and willingness to treat us as valid customers regardless of amount spent spoke volumes. Also would like to thank Management for making our requests heard which meant the world to my wife.

Eric O'Drobinak

This meal was EPIC. We had: SALT + PEPPER "HUMBOLDT' SQUID - cooked to perfection, one of the best squid dishes I've ever had. RED WINE BRAISED BEEF SHORT RIB - The short rib was cooked a *bit* more than I like, but i still loved this dish. The marrow was absolutely succulent.. CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS - I'm not a Brussels sprout person, but these were very good. I kept coming back for more.

B L

I always enjoy coming to this restaurant. The menu is excellent and the staff are very attentive.

Mark Ville

Happy hour has delicious food for excellent prices (and good priced wine and beer!). Dinner is more expensive but the meals are always phenomenal. Definitely would recommend.

Jasmyn Faulkner

This is a great casual spot that is still clean, friendly and attracts well behaved people. Gets busy, and for good reason. Their burger option was well done, fries were good. All other options I spied looked great so this is a good option for most people. View of Gastown helps also! You can reserve a table through Google Maps, which worked wonderfully for lunch.

Jason Fox

10/10 perfect experience! Thank you flying pig for making the birthday surprise so amazingly memorable! ????????

Andres Castillo

Great restaurant and outstanding management (Joe). We came late on Friday night with no reservations and asked for a specific table. While we were waiting Joe told us about all of the amazing specials and kept us engaged and build up our appetite. He was extremely accommodating and made sure we got the table we requested. Once we were sat we were given a beautiful charcuterie board which Joe had sent over due to wait time for the table. We were also delivered a few other special treats during our meal that made this a remarkable experience. Great job creating a moment Joe! We will most certainly be back. Oh yeah... The food was really great too.

Pam Jones

Nice little happening spot in Gastown and the food was delicious.

Cyril Voiron

The place was great, the staff was pleasant. I had the roasted chicken and it was delicious. It's abit pricey. But good overall.

Andrea Mendoza

Great food. Clean and very nice staff. Plexiglass everywhere.

Wiktoria Skoczylas

Great place to eat for a night out in Gastown. They had a great selection of Okanagan Valley wine. All the food was excellent and the service was great. Good place to go to start the night.

Elliott Hodson

Wow. The squid was excellent. We had been wandering down Gastown and usually avoid chains if we can, but made an exception since it was a local chain. The Humboldt squid was delicious. We had missed out on Happy Hour but the main menu items were still amazing. Great decor, perfect lighting, and location. Only reason I didn't give it 5/5 is I chipped my tooth eating the clams. Not sure if it was something in the clam or part of the shell, but it was harder than normal and not something that has happened to this point despite all the seafood I have eaten.

Mediocre Food

My 3rd time there and I really like the food, atmosphere and service. The WILD BC SALMON, RED WINE BRAISED BEEF SHORT RIB MAPLE & MUSTARD CRUSTED PORK RACK (so good), CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS all were delicious. I believe all their menu is amazing. I was never disappointed there.

Belinda Walker

The service is okish-good (that’s why 2 stars, not one) The food is very questionable… ahi tuna dinner reminded me the hospital food (tasteless white rice with boiled carrots and peas, kinda previously frozen tasted no seasoning a bit fried tuna), clams and fries - the broth is too salty, so salty then you cannot finish the dish. Salmon steak (ahi tuna was exchanged for a salmon steak) was a raw salmon sashimi, not a steak (couldn’t stop myself, took a picture) ); paella was actually the same plain rice from ahi tuna dish, kinda sticky risotto rice with same boiled carrots and peas…….. I do not recommend the place. It’s below okay, the interior looks good tho Waste of money and you will stay hungry. Sad.

Chista K

This place has a very friendly team. Happy hour deals are pretty good. If you are hungry order from a major menu

Gary Shaw

I actually walked from the West End to get here on a rainy evening. A Flying Pig is supposed to open in Victoria soon, and I wanted to check this place out. I was left feeling disappointed. Compared to similar restaurants in Victoria, which has a great craft brew scene, the beer selection was not all that great. I ordered the rigatoni, which was supposed to come with garlic bread but did not. The sauce was not great, basically baked, lumpy unseasoned ground meat in a generic red sauce. I was still hungry so I ordered the bone marrow cheezy bread, which was okay. I just felt unsatisfied after eating there. On the plus side, the wait staff were all very pleasant, friendly and efficient, which is a good sign that the place is well-managed and that working conditions are good.

Matthew Prest

This place is amazing. Great service. You have to try theur salad and crispy cheese.

Allen Branch

Nice ambiance, great music and superb food. Our server, Anna was just the cherry on top, she had a great charasmatic attitude that made us feel welcome!

Fabiola Serra

Busy, loud, and great energy. The muscles and frites were excellent. Cocktails were excellent. The risotto and paella lacked taste and were watery. Would not order again. Atmosphere was great. Price was reasonable. Would go back

Elizabeth Harries

Food and service both excellent. Has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Beware of the cake.????

Katie

The food is very good. If you go during happy hour be sure to help seated in the bat area, happy hour doesn't apply to the restaurant

B Morrison

Excellent happy hour specials and great staff. We were eating at the bar but still got attentive service - my water was refilled without being asked multiple times.

Mary Hewlett

Can’t say enough lovely things about this place. Wonderful beer and wine list, curated cocktails, and the poutine is unbelievably good. Do yourself a favor and trust whatever’s on special. While we were there, the porcetta was one of the best meals I’ve ever had in Vancouver. Portions are plentiful and the service is excellent.

Chad Rodriguez

Terrible service from the manager at this location. I absolutely love the flying pig and I frequent the yaletown location every week. As I walked into the gastown location, the manager asked me how far along the guests were. I said one is arriving in 5 minutes and the other is coming in a half hour. He refused to sit me a table in the lounge (even though there were plenty of open tables) until my friends arrive. Then he explained that I can sit at the bar for the 5 minutes of waiting for my friend but then he can only sit me at a 2 top and maybe I might get a table to accommodate 3 when my other friend arrives. As I was completely dumbfounded by this, I said "are you kidding me?". He talked in this robotic, non-personal, condescending tone reiterating the "policy". So I said fine and walked to the bar and as I was walking he stopped me and asked me what I'm doing. I said "going to sit at the bar" and then he replies with "That's my job and I will seat you". I then explained that I'm capable of walking to the bar myself he then replies with "You know what, why don't you just leave?". I then said "Pardon me?" and he backtracks with "Ok, let's start over" and the repeats the "policy" for a third time. I have never seen anyone act so emotional and unprofessional in my life (especially while not even had a drink yet). People at the bar look disgusted by how he acted so when I finally got to have a seat, my friend and I decided to take our business elsewhere. We had excellent service at Rodneys and Bacchus at Wedgwood. I will go back to the yaletown location as I love it there, but never this location.

Wendy Deng

Loved the atmosphere and dining experience here. The staff were very helpful and friendly, guiding our table of three on the best recommended food and drink selections. The plates were well prepared and filling without being too much. Definitely recommend visiting if you're in the area and looking for some good eats and drinks.

Herb K

Went on a Friday night. It was packed. Highly recommend making a reservation. We had drinks and dessert. Delicious! Would highly recommend if you're looking for a great atmosphere and good food.

Jason Czerniej

Very busy, long wait, but we were well treated and the food was delicious. View from the upstairs dining area. Pretty and cozy.

Lauren Murray

I had their three course menu for Dine Out Vancouver, all three courses were really good. Dessert was the highlight of the night. I just wish the main course was slightly bigger though. Overall, I had a great experience.

Lenard Loggins

Great ambience, chill place with nice view of Gastown. Seafood Paella was great! Well spiced. We asked for recommendations on cocktails (no strong liquor taste), and I ended up getting Paris ‘99 while my friend got Crazy Monkey. Paris ‘99 was just what I wanted - sweet, not so strong. However, Crazy Monkey was extremely strong in taste, which was the opposite of what we asked for. But overall, a great time at Flying Pig ????

Darah Powers

There are items on the menu that are ordered every time I visit, but that's also because I've been let down when trying something else. The brussel sprouts, the Mac 'n cheese, and pulled pork croquettes are excellent.

Ryan French

I enjoyed the food, great location and very nice theme inside. Great staff and service, though with a name like flying pig, they don't have as many meat options as I would have liked (pig special was sold out). I did have a really good chicken dish though.

Vineet Saini

Really good food and helpful staff. I had a delicious salmon special. Also tried the pulled pork poutine. Both were delicious!

Robert Buckingham

Poor service, terrible food. I had Beef Stroganoff with no beef! I asked for it, they added it with almost a glass of water. Imagine macaroni and cheese were soaking in 2inch water! None one at our table were happy with service or their food. One of the wors experice I've ever had in Vancouver.

David Warren

Excellent food. Our family had the steak , veal, pasta and halibut. All of the dishes were delicious.

jay han

Very good local, organic food. Would come back!

Andrew James

Service was great. Our server was seasoned and fun. Food was good. Gastown prices in effect.

Anmol Bains

Went here for a valentines day dinner with my fiancee. The waitress we got wasn't very friendly no conversation what so ever, and was forgetting a lot of our orders. She forget to even get our initial drinks we asked for , as well as when our entrees came out she forgot about our sides I had asked to go with it. On top of all this the steaks we both got was very diner style put together lathered in thick gravy and came with what they called “skinny french fries” which was just bbq hickory sticks like out of a chip bag.

Eric Kealoha

Amazing food here. Staff super nice and efficient. Highly recommended. Try the risotto, it's really nice.

Jeff Sanford

Amazing food! We got the tasting platter and it was absolutely delicious! Very friendly staff as well.

Michelle B

Great food. Only downside what I heard the gm talk to the head bartender and he admitted that he forgot we sat down and didn't take our order until 15mins in. But another server had taken our drink order, overall was still pretty good.

Julie Dowling

Reserved brunch online - super easy. Service was excellent, very pleased with that. 2 stars off for the quality of the food - portions were just ok. But flavour wise and execution lacked. All of our brunch items, while on the menu sounded lovely, just scraped into average at best. My pancake was very dense and clumpy... I was expecting a fluffy buttermilk pancake. The sausage was so cloyingly salty. And coffee was a very tiny serving and not very satisfying. Overall, would not return just based on the value & quality of food. You need new chefs, Flying Pig!

Chilly Dippers

Rich flavor, great service.

Toni Kiser

Quite a nice spot with busy atmosphere and friendly staff. Could be better if the food didn't come out as cold!

Elsie Peralta

Our server was attentive and personable and all covid practices seemed in check. We enjoyed our two mains (BC cod and the seafood pasta). The beet/arugula salad was good but the calamari appy was a bit uninspired (needed a bit of pizzazz :) ) Nice ambience on a cold rainy evening in December.

Haelim Seo

Another favourite! Love the menu and the ambiance. Service is great and food tastes delicious. Would highly recommend the crispy brussel sprouts dish (trust me ... it's not what you think ... Only so so so much better), truffled jumbo macaroni and the bone marrow cheesy bread (my birthday meal for the last 3 years in a row)! Just celebrated another birthday earlier this weekend at the Gastown branch with my birthday tradition meal "bone marrow cheesy bread", brussel sprouts and Cesar salad. Ah, I'm in heaven! Thank you to the chef for making an exception and having these dishes prepared for us although they were not on the brunch menu. Big thank you for the fabulous cake and birthday wishes. You guys are truly amazing ????

Cathy Traughber

Had really good food here today! I've driven past this place a lot and was always curious. It's really good! The staff are super nice and the food was delicious! The pulled pork poutine is a must try. The fried chicken is so good.

Terry McKinley

Great atmosphere, fantastic service, attentive staff. well... the food is not that good as other view describe tho. since i work in the same industry.. so i still rate 5 stars :P

윤희정

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, awesome happy hour. The truffle mac n cheese and half roasted chicken are on incredible. Amazing Happy hour. I dine here all the time and its always consistent

Helly Boyle

We had an amazing dinner! I called ahead since we were a party of 11. They were very gracious in accomading us with short notice. We had a variety of dishes from the menu as did the kids in our group. Everything was delicious! Our server was very attentive as well.

Peggy Froese

Liked the table for two just above the entrance. View of the street. Were there during brunch on a Saturday. Loved the hash browns. Could have had only those. The breakfast sandwich and side salad were good. Enjoyed the malbec wine. Staff was attentive.

K B

Everything that I ate it was a good taste.

0rion

Great service, good happy hour, if on side patio, watch the street at evening with all the people traffic from West Hastings.

Googleuser

Great food, decent service. The waitress was nice but the drinks took forever. It could have just been a busy night for them but it was a little disorganized. Will go again though.

Owen Taylor

This place was really aesthetically pleasing. The food on the recommended black board was REALLY GOOD. The waiter gave us his recommendations on the drinks and I do not regret it at all. He knew what he was talking about. This place is a must if you're in the area.

Steven Orozco

My husband and I were really looking forward to trying this restaurant. Unfortunately the experience was pretty bad. From the small details of an inexperienced waiter to bringing my husband the wrong main dish “veal risotto with cheese” when he ordered seafood paella. The waitress was surprised and unapologetic. He had also mentioned that he was allergic to cheese....I sent back my steak and asked to bring it back when his dish is ready so we eat together. We they brought our food, my steak wasn’t hot anymore so I think they left it sitting out while they quickly prepared his paella. The bill also included 3 entrees instead of 2 (they charged us for the first dish that they brought him). Anywho- overall not happy with the service and cold steak which is a big no no. Will not return. I gave it two stars for the vibe.

Mallory Chen

Honestly, I can't go wrong with the flying pig. Everytime I'm around the area I some how end up at this restaurant! Very good portions, comfort foods, great happy hour choices. Definitely reccomend to stop by. Prices are very reasonable too! You can bring family here as well, there's plenty of seats to spare, as I've seen a few families dine here.

John White

Ordered the braised beef shortrib, here it goes: - Tiny plate. - Shortrib was not braised, it tasted like it was boiled or out of a soup. No salt at all. - Bone marrow, had hardly any marrow... - Mashed potatoes, no taste. It wasn't a cheap plate and it has the potential to be very tasty so I was dissapointed. Staff was suuuper friendly and service was great though.

Sarah S

Guest service was lacking..not friendly by any means but the food made up for it. The beet salad was loaded with amazing flavours and colours.

myoung seok kang

Great food, friendly staff, worth a visit.

Samantha Champagne

The food is excellent the staff are great friendly atmosphere price is $$$$ but worth it great place to take your significant other to for a special night out or just to getaway from home for a fancy meal

Justin Neumeyer

Close waterfront station, taste good and great service, very clean and wonderful view on Water st. It' a cozy place for lunch or dinner. We had a wonderful time.

Audrey T

We had gone to the Flying Pig for a work Christmas party. We had reservations for 8 people. We were pleased that we were seated in the back room. Very nice ambiance, and although next to the kitchen, was not too disturbing. The waitress was very accommodating since we had a few at our table with hearing impairments, I had asked if the music volume could be lowered and this was no problem. This made for a much more enjoyable experience. The only thing I would have liked to be different was the food was just meh. My meal was a 7oz sirloin steak, and I asked for mashed potatoes instead of matchstick fries. The potatoes were cold, and the steak as overcooked. I had asked for medium rare, and it was medium well, to well done. I did not send it back because I don't like being that person, but come on. At a restaurant of this caliber, they should know how to cook a steak properly. Keeping mashed potatoes hot is also not very difficult. I had asked for some gravy on the side to warm them up, but this was different than the peppercorn sauce that was on the steak and although it was good, it just didn't pair well with the rest of the dish. All in all we had an enjoyable evening, but for the price of eating out these days I would have expected better. Everyone else at my table enjoyed their food, however.

Now this is a real happy hour. These portions $6. We walked down the street from Tacofino after disappointment and get great portions and food for their happy hour.

Charlotte Boardman

I went here with friends during happy hour and was not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was very good. The place has a nice vibe. Certainly value for money so don't leave it off your list of places to visit.

Josh Princr

The happy hour specials are tremendous value. Service and atmosphere were friendly.

jane dmytruk

Happy hour is generally a great deal at the Flying Pig, though the portions have gradually gotten stingier on the happy hour food options. Tiny tables aren't designed for the huge, heavy plates they use here either.

Kalita D

We went for lunch and really pleased. We took the hop in and off ride and our driver happened to add her tips to the bus guide, she mentioned this place and we decided to hop off and try for lunch. Delicious salmon but what I loved was the witty funny waitresses we had, for a strange reason we had a mix of them - was a busy day- and even changing between them we had no lack of attention at all they were maxing, funny and always on time regardless how busy the place was. Highly recommended. Thanks for the great experience!

Steven Edwards

Our server was awesome! I don't remember her name but her service made our experience a perfect one. She even asked me if I wanted water in my reusable cup. ????

Timi Chu

Very crowded, the server didn't attend us very well.

Allan Coo

Just average food for the price though the setting and ambience is nice. There's an upstairs dining area that is more quiet and the downstairs has a nice bar and TV's to watch the game. If you are there with others I recommend doing the chefs combo to get a little bit of everything since there's a lot that looks appetising on the menu. Drinks were a bit weak and was disappointed on that part.

D Suelt

Good place situated in gastown. We got the mushroom pasta, ahi tuna and side of lobster risotto. Ahi tuna was great. For the pasta and risotto personally felt that it was super low on salt. Few sprinkles of salt did the magic.

Domenic

Authentic mussels from Salt Spring Island. Not grocery store stuff. Always a pleasure.

Roger Campbell

Stopped by here for a few cocktails and they were super good, did not order any food but the menu looked super tasty! Check it out!

Vic Dumbleton

This place was completely packed when I went there. Luckily I was able to get a table. Good here was good. I got the steak which was little less seasoned for my taste. And the vegetables were also less seasoned. Maybe they were busy and made that mistake? Not sure. But little more seasoning would give them 5 stars. The staff was very nice and courteous. I recommend it if you’re in the gastown area.

Jamil f

Delicious food, a little bit pricey but justifiably so. Food came quickly and service was good. The food was a little bit rich for me (and a lot of Canadian food is tbh) but only just. Highly recommend.

Jim Wilson

Good food and very friendly attentive staff

Ashleigh Hayhoe

First time visit....greeted with a smile and prompt seating. Took their recommendations and ended with a awesome food and ambient experience. Total recommend!

Kevin Harding

If you are ever in Vancouver and need a place to go for dinner and plan to spend less than 4 hours don't go here. Food was acceptable, however it was almost 2 hours before our apps arrived. We reserved our group of 50 people ahead of time. They asked us for a $2000 deposit and then proceeded to not have enough space to seat everyone when we arrived. During the course of dinner we timed how long drinks took to arrive. They averaged 23 minutes. Oh and this was a Tuesday.

natalia vaskina

Very unpleasant experience. Appetizer sandwich buns were all dry like they have been in the warmer for quite some time. Burger - just ok, nothing special. At start they brought just one menu, so me and my partner seating opposite to each other had to reach to be able to read it. We asked for the second menu, but server seemed surprised and only brought the small one for happy hour choices (?). Overall - do not recommend. Touristy location unfortunately often means substandard service and food, since they do not have to be competitive.

Naomi Fraser

Overpriced swall. The music was horrid. Waiters were just pretty faces with no grace. Seems too uppity to be eating hickory sticks, listening to Taylor's swift

Declan

Its bonkers how good the food is here. I shared a surf-and-turf and everything was done perfectly down to the garnishes. Definitively the best salmon I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and eat here, just bring a full wallet

Maxwell Denley

My husband and l enjoyed our breakfast. The server was able to provide a side that was not on the menu when requested.

Alexis Smith

Trendy hipster restaurant. Customer service was great, attentive host and very knowledgeable. Location is great right in the trendy restaurant area. There is a car park station nearby. Ambience is very modern and stylish. Definitely worth a visit, generally the restaurant is full. I recommend making a booking if you're interested.

Stephanie

The food here is very nice, the ambiance is lovely. It can be a bit loud for a date night, but great for a Friday, Saturday night out with friends. Always consistent and great specials!

Roxane Peters

Used to be much better. Menu is boring and cookie cutter. We ordered the meatballs appetizers for 9.5 and got 3 little Ikea meatballs I'm pretty sure the seafood in the pasta wasn't fresh either as my stomach is doing somersaults after eating Bottom line, overpriced and underwhelming

HYUNMI KIM

You must try jumbo onion rings from this place. Their food is really flavorful and juicy. Good place for casual dining and fancy dining at the same time.

Mimi Hsieh

Great happy hour menu, from 3 to 6 weekdays. Highly recommended

Jeanette Hawkins

Staff here were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the rib eye steak massively, but the frites served with it were far too thin and crispy for my European palate, which had been eagerly anticipating French or Belgian-style fries. Great drinks selection, will definitely return.

Reena Grewal

The service was friendly and incredibly fast but the food was just average. I expected the fish to be well cooked but it was dry and not very tasty.

Emma Bee

Happy hour is 3-6pm. Great selection of food and drinks on offer during this time. Staff all really friendly and fairly efficient service. I'd go back

Anna Stogniy

Really great food, really friendly staff. Love that they source locally. Got the beet salad with trout, and the adega cab franc. It was excellent

Michelle Lee

Service

SoDarn Normal

Quite cozy place with tasty food and good service.

Brandon Chan

Slightly better than places like the cactus club but still felt mass produced. Portions were generous though and the service was quite good. Big approval for the actual venue though, I thought the atmosphere was very pleasant.

Thomas Donnelly

I met a friend there for lunch. We arrived early and the place was quiet and the service was prompt but it quickly de-escalated to condescending. My friend ordered the braised short rib macaroni and cheese. I had the skirt steak sandwich with matchstick fries. My friend works in fine dining and he leaned in and told me the mac and cheese wasn't very good and only ate about half of it. I'll admit I was dressed in work site "grubbies" (I manage a construction crew maintaining social housing in the Downtown East Side of Vancouver) but the waiter looked at me like I wasn't worthy and condescendingly informed me that my steak sandwich was "open faced" and not like a "normal" sandwich. Duh. Of course it is, I wouldn't expect any less. Not to mention open faced sandwiches are a staple of every dive diner in the world. How dare he presume I was expecting a chunk of meat between two slices of WonderBread. Anyway, the skirt steak sandwich was advertised as "chili rubbed" but it came dredged in some sort of sweet barbecue sauce. It was small, maybe 4oz, and too sweet for my liking. It came with "match stick fries" in what can only be described as an absurd amount. The waiter mentioned that "hardly anyone finishes them." Well, that's because there are way too many of them, they weren't very good, and the effort required to eat spindly little deep fried bits of potato that you couldn't pick up with your fingers and didn't fit on a fork easily wasn't worth the mediocre reward of room temp fried potatoes. Fries need to be executed in a delicate balance of thick enough to retain the heat of cooking but thin enough to be crispy and not seem like you're eating deep fried mashed potatoes. Dear condescending waiter, people don't finish the fries because they aren't very good. If the open faced steak sandwich was any bigger I wouldn't have finished that either for the same reason, it wasn't very good, but I had little else to sate my appetite. Reality is, lunch was over $20 with tax and tip and I walked out feeling like I needed something to eat and that what I had eaten was mediocre at best. If the service had been better I might have given it another chance but you only get to make a first impression once, and it wasn't very good.

Grant Forsythe

It's a real happening place. I went on Saturday night and the place was busy with great service. The steak I ordered was delicious as was dessert. I would definitely recommend and return to this restaurant.

Jade

Love the restaurant they have the most amazing brussel sprouts. Very noisy in the evenings. Not the place to go for a romantic dinner, unless screaming across the table is your thing. Food and service are first class though.

Mina

We had an incredible meal tonight. We ordered the roast chicken and the halibut. Both were delicious. Great service and a fun atmosphere!

crystal page

Very disappointing, especially for the price. Service was very slow. Chip in the glassware that nearly cut my lip open. My risotto was basically baby mush, veal had no flavour at all. The server never checked to see how things were, and to top it all off he charged me for soda water. When I questioned him, he said the C02 costs money... Pure nonsense. Avoid at all costs.

Eric Allan

Had dinner here twice during our stay in Vancouver. Came back for the combination of quality food, local ingredients and casual atmosphere. Tip: some of the desserts are HUGE! Suitable for sharing.

Rob Murray

Everything we ate there was delicious. I love their fries

Ticia T

Very good, hearty food with tons of flavour. Service was attentive but not intrusive which was fab after a busy day. Well worth a visit.

Warren Ackhurst

Great food! The bone marrow with cheesy bread is the best, I get it almost every time I go. Excellent customer service! Unfortunately, the only problem with this place is that it smells like pee in the building. I'm guessing the smell is just tracked in from shoes, coming from East/West Hastings St. I'm guessing the staff must be used to the smell, cause I mentioned it and she didnt smell anything. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed and just doesnt say anything?

Jerry Gao

Wonderful service and the truffle mac n cheese is fantastic

Kai Holmstrom

Id have to say im pretty upset by the service...the wait...the everything...we stood waiting to be seated for about 5-10 minutes as we watched the servers walk by...then to be seated we sat here waiting for another table, just to be warm..closed the door..then sat for another 10 minutes as we watched other people come in after us be served before us...it was kinda ridiculous ...made us feel like it was cause we were native...or cause of the color of our skin...we didnt get served....then just to order our actual meal it toom awhile for that as well...then not given utensils...salt...had to ask for pepper then got it way later...we even had to ask for water...the service was not great...the girl in all black with dark hair...idk what her problem is but she needs some training on how to treat people. Thanks but never again..very poor customer service..and I'll be sure to tell my friends.

J Mason

Fun restaurant with cool interior and friendly service. Food was great. We had the salmon burger (with bacon of course), beef burger (also with bacon), and the frittata. All were great. Kids mac and cheese was actually really good. A bit garlicky for young kids but the adults liked it.

Tyler Van Impe

Had the Parmesan Chicken Cutlet. Service was great, beer was great chicken was fresh but could have tasted more cheesy (couldn't taste the parmesan).

Scarlett O’Hara

The Flying Pig is a popular restaurant that is decent but doesn't deserve the hype (in my opinion). Service and atmosphere are good, although the dance/pop music is relatively loud and makes you talk louder to converse. The menu is kept somewhat small but covers a lot of cuisines. Plates are medium sized and sides are small. The veal and pork are unremarkable, which is disappointing considering their prices. The paella was nicely spicy and quite delicious. Nothing is a dealbreaker, but little was remarkable either.

Gino Shay

Went early on a Saturday around 430pm and there was a 30 mins wait. When we went we didn't account for a pretty robust happy hour menu which is 3 to 6. So the place was full. We were told 30 min, seated in about 40, we had the option for a bar seat at the 30 min mark but opted for a table. So the guy at the front, pretty legit on his timings. My girlfriend and I had planned to tuck into a big dinner but the happy hour menu was excellent. We had salmon cakes, pulled pork sliders, and chicken wings. We supplemented a few non happy hour items the steak tar tar and the Brussel sprouts (gf idea....love u babe). The steak tar tar and then Brussel sprouts were excellent. The rest were good. Server made a mistake and brought us something we didn't order. She fixed it right away when we let her know. So I give the service a good score. We ordered the drinks off the happy hour list. Wine, beer, and highball to choose from. We were full from the appies and never made it to the main menu. We will go back for that. I couldn't tell if there was a dj tucked away somewhere but they had some cool 90's hip hop going mixed in with new music. Vibe is cool and location clean and fun. Price point was $$ to $$$. Perfect for a date, drinks with friends, or a business meeting.

Tina Dam

Good food; Nothing extraordinary.

Courtney Kassem

Great service, good food, nice atmosphere. We went on a Sunday night without a reservation. There was a nice crowd but a few empty tables so we were seated right away.We will definitely be back again!

안도연

Quite busy when we went but our waiter was really friendly and gave us great tips for our weekend in Vancouver. Delicious food and very fast service.

seongrak kim

The only reason this place even gets a 1 is because it has a good atmosphere. Waited over an hour for a table. Food was terrible, we had the Pork rack and the braised beef short rib, both were extremely disappointing. Almost no flavour on both and just plain disappointing.. I literally cook better food at home. Have no idea why people go here, other than the atmosphere, and the beer( which they can't screw up its on tap).

Kira Wolf

I was excited to eat here but was left disappointed. The food was just not that great. The service was fine but the squid we ordered was extremely chewy and not fried very well. We also ordered the corned beef hash which was weirdly sweet and the hollandaise sauce was completely over powered by the sauce that the potatoes and beef were in. Too bad ???? it has a cool atmosphere just not great food.

Teagan S

Very very disappointed. Manager told us wait time was only a few minutes. We were a party of 3 and he took other parties of 2 and 6 that came after us and said they were here before us. Just trying to fill tables not concerned about customer service. Waited 35 minutes. Manager was very rude and lied when questioned. When seated, waitress spoke quickly which made us feel rushed. Drink orders were not taken first, food orders and drink orders at the same time. Caesar salad was very good as was the veal, but risotto was awful. They were only interested in turning over the table as soon as possible and it was very noisy. I brought a copy of their book with me to the table, from the front of the restaurant. I was going to look at it and the waitress tied to take it away, but I asked if she could leave it so I could look at it. While I was eating, they sneaked it away???? Made me feel like they thought I was going to steal it....really???? No atmosphere, employees just wanted you in and out and the food was mediocre. Go for it if you want to feel taken advantage of.

S G

The black walnut old fashioned, pulled pork poutine, Brussels sprouts, and the lobster and prawn risotto were all hits for my friends and I. Our server was great. She was attentive, had a genuine smile, and recommended local spots for us tourists. We came here our first night in town and we're already talking about coming back. Thank you.

Alvaro Fernandez

We arrived on a sunday night around 8pm and the place was packed! We were seated quickly and had a very attentive waiter, though we waited close to an hour for our food to arrive. Once it did, it tasted AMAZING and was well worth the wait. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, even though it was a little loud. They were very acconodating and friendly to our kids. We would definitely return!

Claire Charbonneau

Awesome food, service and atmosphere here. We had a party of around 40 and everyone had a great time. Food was amazing. We spent a few hours here and service was great the whole time. Definitely a great spot to stop and have some dinner.

Maggie Matsalla

The staff was friendly and food was good:) I tried dine-out vancouver menu!

Nicolas Rodriguez

Nice place with decent food. The waitress came by and asked if we wanted sparkling or still water. Since she was holding a normal bottle with just tapwater we thought the sparkling water was complimentary. She came back with a bottle of Pellegrino which of course we had to pay for. That's not very Customer friendly in my opinion, she should have notified us beforehand.

Marc Brien

The service was good, considering how busy the place was when I walked in with a friend. The only downside was that the food wasn't really up to par with how much we were paying. Except for the salmon platter, the entrées and side that we got was overly salty. Our server came back to refill our small glasses of water at least 10 times! Might try something else if we come back next time, just to give them another chance.

Jennifer P.

Very nice atmosphere. Great place for a date or intimate dinner, as well as groups. Delicious food and impressive drink menu. Excellent staff. Great view on the second floor. Very impressed and will frequent again.

Adison Reeves

The food is GOOD but not THAT good. I think it's overpriced and would rather go pay half as much for slightly worse fare. The selection is also very limited.

최예진

Amazing experience. The food, the place and the staff are special.

James

Very good food, prices that match and great service.

Nicole Yuen

We went in for a couple drinks and a late dinner and had the Artisan Meat and Cheese Board and the Pulled Pork Poutine. Very fast service on a busy night and the food turned out delicious. Great atmosphere in a great part of town

Janice Laswick

Food was subpar. I had the seafood pasta and the seafood was overcooked. My husband had the veal and sent it back("the most sent back item on the menu" our waiter shared, after the fact). Social distance between tables is less than 3 ft and more hand sanitizer available would have been appreciated.

Joe Smo

My wife suggested this place. I read the negative reviews first to be better prepared. I think we came here at a good time because there was no wait. The service was also very good. We ordered braised beef short ribs and calamari. If I would complain the texture of the beef could be a bit more tender but the taste was amazing. The mashed potatoes soaked the soup from the beef. Yum. They also placed a split bone with bone marrow in. So good. Calamari was definitely one of the best. As to the atmosphere, I should have brought my noise cancelling headphones. That would create the perfect atmosphere.

S Gray

Love their happy hour. Lots of good food options. My favourite is to get a spot at the bar. Lovely atmosphere.

Bob Smith

Great staff and even better food ???? Good luck with your new location in Victoria

Matt W

Great, friendly staff and excellent food. Marcus, our waiter, was very attentive and the process of getting seated was efficient and painless despite being extremely busy.

Dean Ablitt

Overrated. Food is mediocre. I have had much better brunch in that area. But the most outrageous thing is that coffee comes in such a tiny cup with NO refills. That's definitely a deal breaker for me.

Joann Martin

I hadn’t been to the flying pig before yesterday in a few years and had good memories of it. We were seated right away at the bar and the bartender was very professional and attentive. As I said I had good memories of the food and was looking forward to enjoying the cauliflower casserole. However unfortunately the amount of garlic was genuinely off-putting. I’m not trying to be rude or picky but as someone who enjoys a heavy hand on the garlic, this dish was wayyyy to much. Here I am, almost 24 hours later, 3 brushes later and I can still taste the garlic. Not sure what happened, maybe a genuine mistake on the part of someone in the kitchen?

Peace For All

I came here a couple nights ago with some of my friends and the food was very good. I got the mussels pasta and it was perfectly cook and my friends opted for the steaks. The steaks themselves were well cooked but the frites were somewhat odd, I would recommend getting them swapped for mash. But still, the food is very good but the problem we had was with our server. The front of house was very welcoming but our server had a very off putting and obnoxious attitude the entire night. We found it very strange because she was very friendly with the table beside us but for some reason had a problem for us. We were not loud, we were not acting up, just peacefully enjoying our meal. At the end of the night after paying, she scrunched up all of the receipts right infront of us and walked away with an attitude, not saying thank you, or have a nice night, nothing! We were genuinely wondering what happened because we all tipped 15% each and the tables bill was over 200. All in all, we really enjoyed the food but the server ruined our experience and I doubt that we will go again

Angela Hansen

Excellent food and service! The pulled pork sandwich paired with the IPA craft beer is a guaranteed success.

Jake Vienneau

Very welcoming, I come by every time I’m in Vancouver. I recommend the truffle Mac and cheese!

Z Proctor

The food was really good, but the meal was on the pricey side, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

Claudia

Food is below average, burnt fries.

Alex McDonald

Good atmosphere, busy during happy hour, but the portion, plating is inconsistent

M C

Great place downtown Vancouver. Tons of tasty appetizers and Salmon was exquisite. Rich bier choices and very friendly service

Martin Biggerstaff

Awesome food. Outdoor seating was great. Great food, and desserts. Freindly staff and they worked hard to make everyone have a good time. Highly recommended!
