First time at Capt boil here in Vancouver. I love the rice, shrimp and mussels. The lobster was really pricey, maybe too much for the pocket. We paid $389 just for the 4 of us, 2 adults and two teens. Sliced chicken was ok. Not a fan. Shrimp and mussels were just right at their spicy level Cajun fries was a bit spicy for us. We loved the sweet potato fries too. Rice was gooodie!!!! But i still like Boiling Crab over Captain boil. Especially at capt Boil, they don't have the yumm,fresh and delicious catfish.

Order the Alaskan king crab for $65 n literally got 1 part leg very disappointed with it. The servers barely know how to speak english didnt understand anything they would say. The food was nowhere near what they make it look like on TV. Well never return there again RIP off for the food

Captain Boil is a big franchise seafood restaurant. It has more than 30 restaurants across Canada in different cities. There are five locations in the Great Vancouver area. I have been to the two locations before: one is on Robson St. Downtown and another one is on Kingsway Vancouver. Both of the locations served quite delicious seafood. Very enjoy eating at Captain Boil. Captain Boil Robson St. Location is at 1487 Robson St, Vancouver, BC V6G 1C1. The location is on the one of busiest st downtown Vancouver. There are many restaurants on this street, attract so many customers. I had lunch with my friend at this location. we had a great experience there. We arrived at the restaurant around 12 pm when it just opened. So, the restaurant was not busy. Since it’s on the weekend, it didn’t serve the lunch combo. We decided to order seafood separately. We ordered Shrimps, Mussels, and Snow Crab legs 1lb each with Cajun, Captain’s Boil and Garlic sauces. All the seafood we ordered comes in the arrival of the mains, not on plates, but straight out of the boiling pot with flavors added, delivered to the table still steaming hot in big (biodegradable) clear-plastic bags! Mussels are my most favorite dish in this place. They are big and very great quality.

(Translated) When ordering a "whole crab" was promised. While eating, we noticed that there were only one pair of scissors in the bag instead of two. When asked, they explained that this was always the case and showed a fresh crab with just a pair of scissors as proof. The lower price is apparently generated with not quite complete animals. That's ok too. But then one shouldn't speak of "whole crabs". Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the restaurant is North American average. (Original) Bei der Bestellung wurde eine "ganze Krabbe" versprochen. Beim Essen haben wir festgestellt, dass nur eine statt zwei Scheren im Beutel waren. Auf Nachfrage hat man erklärt, dass dies immer so sei und als Beweis eine frische Krabbe mit nur einer Schere gezeigt. Der tiefere Preis wird offenbar mit nicht ganz kompletten Tieren erzeugt. Das ist auch ok so. Dann darf man aber nicht von "ganzen Krabben" sprechem. Die Sauberkeit des Lokals erspricht leider nordamerikanischen Durchschnitt.

The food was great and the workers were nice too. However only problem I had with them is that they included automatic 15% service fee in the bill. I think they misinterpreted what tip means and I do not like being forced to pay tips even if their service is good. So if you are planning to go here, just keep that in mind.

Not good. Came around 8 on a sat night. Was told closing at 11pm but warned us food might take a while so we were fine about that. What bothered us was at 930 they were putting chairs on the empty tables already. We felt very much like they wanted us to leave. Only 2 tables left. While we ate. Well I got a card in the mail for free pound of shrimp at the Captain's boil they opened up around the corner on Robson Street and I finally went in to use it and it was very good. It was a full pound of shrimp unlike the supermarkets and they were big fresh local spotted prawns cooked in a boil bag and there were 24 jumbo prawns and it was certainly value and very good. We got the chicken wings they were great nice and crispy we got the potatoes the french fries is a big basket they are crispy not greasy and cooked very well. You're not going to use your cell phone when you're there because everything comes in a bag and its peel and eat but it's very good and there's very good values on the menu. I don't think I'd order the crab with a lobster but the Crawfish look excellent the clams look good. I had to ask for a plate to dump all the shrimp out of the bag but it filled up the plate and I guess they want you to eat on the table but I will go back and I'm from South Florida and I've been to Louisiana many times and these spotted prawns or as good as anything I've had in either place. My wife and I enjoyed it very much.

Was pleasantly surprised by this place. Had a coupon for shrimp. The medium spicy Captain's boil sauce on a pound of shrimp plus a corn add-on was very tasty. Spice level was perfect for me, and the shrimp was not overcooked. Seafood fried rice was good and was a big portion that would have been plenty to share as a side for several people. I wound up putting some of the sauce with the juices from the shrimp from the bag on the rice, and it's a shame that most people will waste it (would be nice if there could be some comp bread for this). Service was very friendly. Only open for about a month, so I'm giving them some slack on running out of the clams that I was looking forward to getting. I'm sure they will work that out as they go along or maybe just everyone wanted clams today. Place was comfy. Only thing is that there isn't always real dishware. Water comes in disposable plastic cups instead of glasses or even reusable plastic cups, and the pop is just served in the can. But the rice came on a real plate with a metal spoon. I didn't use the plastic bib (though did use paper napkins tucked in my shirt) and gloves to try to cut down on the plastic waste but everyone else in the place did. The bags for the seafood are biodegradable though at least.

A waitress should know where the seafood comes from that she's serving ....I gave her several different options where the seafood may have came from ( British Columbia , Asia, Alaska , USA) ?.... and she claimed she had no idea where the seafood was from..... which is sad ....my , guess is that it is cheap Seafood from wherever the market price dictates.. The shrimp in the muscles seem to be large and almost perfect....which makes me wonder if it is farmed to give them that perfect appearance.... I Don't mind eating with my fingers and plastic gloves however the problem is....I just wish I knew where the seafood came from in which I am ingesting

This is the place where you pay a huge bill and walk away hungry and not satisfied. The food comes in plastic bags - where you open and eats from the bag- not sure the reason they are using bags instead of plates. The portions are very very small. The shrimps come without being clean, I had to open each and everyone to remove the sand line from the back, very disgusting. The crab legs were fine but expensive and the chicken wasn't that delicious, the same for the rice. This place is not recommended at all.

We had a reservation yesterday for four people and we came in 10 mins earlier. We got our drinks after 40 mins and the food was served after an hour. The people who came in before us had their food served before us. We were not given any gloves, plastic bibs and paper towels prior to serving our food.We had to ask the front desk a couple of times to check on our drinks and food. Our side rice came after we were almost done with our mains. Our server never check back on us. Overall, it was such a bad experience. We had a reservation because we wanted to be served right away without delays. They never even came up to us to tell us that the food would take longer than cookin time. We came in thinking, we would receive good service like our experiences in the Richmond and Kingsway location. Disappointed. Would not recommend.

Severe food poisoning! I ordered the mussels and spent the next 3 days imprisoned in my bed. Shellfish poisoning is quite common so I'm not sure how much I can fault the restaurant but it's something to keep in mind the next time you think about ordering shellfish.

The place is neat and the food is really good. They provide disposable gloves and bib. You can eat with your hands or with utensils. Since i came from a country where we eat with our hands, its easy for me but if you're not used to it, it'll be really messy. I really like the sauce that they use, it complements with the seafood. Though the price is expensive, its worth the experience, ambiance and especially the flavor.

We ordered tester dish and fish and chips. The tester was so good and it had different kinds of seafood in there, for example it had mussles, oysters, king crab leg, shrimp, and crownfish. It is so good when it is your first time. You can taste every thing. By the way the lobster itself was so expensive. To sum up I like the Captain's Boil.

Food was good. It smelt a little weird when we first walked in. Giving it a 4 star because the service was a bit slow. I think we waited 25 min before the server came along to ask us our order. The drink menu only had a couple things. It looks like they removed a ton of drinks off. Maybe for covid? Not sure. I found that the atmosphere was really casual. Oh, lastly, they only had one sign up with the current market price for seafood items. It was a bit hard for me to see and I wasn't that far from it. They need to make it clearer or just have a paper copy on hand to show to people. Food was good, thank god. I would go there again, maybe not that location as I've had better service from their other restaurants.

It’s was ok, it’s an experience more than anything. So grab some family or friends and go out split a bill, take some awesome and fun pictures and videos. For the food. The sauces amazing the spicy sauce is tasty medium spice isn’t quite as spicy as I was expecting so if you like it hot get it as hot as they can make it. It’s all Sous Vide cooked so the textures one would be use to might not be what you expect. For me it was all slightly over cooked. Also make sure to check the market price board so you don’t get carried away and have a crazy bill. Again it’s more of an experience you are buying. Eating off the table with gloves and giant bags of seafood all while wearing a plastic bib.

My friend was craving for seafood so we decided to go here. First, Seafood was not fresh and very dry. Crab and lobster. Second, servers were to lousy and have to wait in order too grab water. Since I’m not a fan of spicy food. Third, the server was visible when I felt she was rushing us to go as she keeps on asking can I clean this, can I take this, can I get the paper etc. so now they were attentive. So this is what you get giving 15% service charge eh? Well, first time experience was worst! But surely I would never come back.

First time but would go back. I went during Happy Hour and ordered a platter that included shrimp, crawfish, mussels, rice and choice of fried chicken or fish. Very good value for the amount of food. I ordered the Captains Boil sauce, medium hot. (There are 4 sauce options for everything on the menu). Everything was tasty, rice had a lovely buttery flavor, seafood was perfectly cooked. There is a small but adequate eer and wine list and markups were very reasonable. Service was fast, attentive and friendly.

If you are environmentally conscious at all stay away. Everything was in single use plastic. Plastic cups for water, plastic fork for rice that came in a styrofoam cup, plastic bibs and gloves (provide a cloth to wash hands after and a napkin tucked into your shirt would do). Although my snow crab legs were good it is boiled in plastic with the potatoes and corn and brought to the table. Would have preferred my corn and potatoe separate. There is absolutely no reason to use so much single use plastic. I won't be back.

Decent food if you’re craving all kinds of seafood . Would recommend ordering the shrimp, crab/lobster probably not worth it for what you get. We liked the “Captain’s Boil” flavour. Also, their mild is spicy so beware!

This place is for indulgence and the occasional seafood overload. If you don’t like to get messy then this is not the place for you. But, for those that don’t mind I highly recommend indulging here and not worry about the health for one meal. We got the platter for two which comes with a lobster, 1/2lb shrimp and 1/2lb mussels. Not pictured is the Captains Boil fried rice, it’s super, definitely order it!

Great place to enjoy a feast with friends and family. A truly intimate and bonding experience. Food was great, staff were super friendly. Music was a bit loud, but not really a problem to us as we were digging the tunes. I hope they'll open a branch in New Westminster or in Metrotown. I highly recommended it. We'll definitely be back.

Had raw oysters, shrimps and mussels. Oysters were good,only one kind tho and only comes with cocktail sauce,horse radish,and Tabasco and lemon.good oyster places come with more sauces although it won't matter if you don't care about it. Shrimps and mussels were fresh and good but I don't personally like the sauce. Good flavor,not the best, had it on the side and it was too 'grainy' .like the seasoning powder weren't dissolved. The Holy Crab Cajun and garlic sauce are incomparable personally. Good service and place. Got lucky with meter parking. They take reservations which is good. Worth the try but won't probably go back unless someone wants to try it with me. Note: It's not bad, I just have had better seafood experience that was far satisfying.

I personally like this branch better than the other ones. They have better taste from what I've noticed. It's also located conveniently away from the busy part of downtown where parking can be quite pricey. The staff is polite always and very attentive. Additionally, this location doesn't get as busy and is almost as large as the Richmond one which is the biggest of the three I've been to. Their special sauce is quite delicious and we often order some to go to eat at home. By far my favorite branch to visit.

So... The food tastes just like the photos make out to be. We went with a party of 4 (hungry). Ordered the "Captain" for 6, and we destroyed it! We mixed up the favors Captain's Boil, Garlic, Lemon and the Cajun, plus did the medium Spice, except the rice. Our minds were blown away????. Next time, I go full spicy ???? They did not have the King Crab but, they were more then willing to substitute with more Lobster or Dungeness and we did both ????. It was my first time eating here and I already want to go back. Pricey, but worth it, says I ????????????????

Was dining there during corona. The chef wouldn't stop coughing every 30 seconds. You could tell this wasn't some light cough - he sounded like he was choking... while cooking. I left the place and didn't touch the food. They make you sign your name and contact info to quote unquote obey the law, yet, their chef is coming in sick and coughing on everybody's food. Also the server (some Chinese girl) was just so rude.

My girlfriend and I always come here when we just want calm atmosphere and to indulge in seafood goodness. The seafood fried rice is absolutely amazing. The base is Captain's Boil flavour and it's filled with shrimps and scallop. And if that amount of carbs doesn't fill you yet, make sure to order their Cajun Fries to share with your friends. Also, did you know you can order a side of extra sauce of your favourite flavour? :) Staff and service are great too - they follow the social distancing precautions.

Three days ago, a group of friends and I decided to try the Captain's Boil promotion ''all shrimp you can eat". When we got there we were seated and we were really excited about our dinner. We ordered and it took at least 30 min to get our first round of shrimp. We asked for sauces on the side and the sauce came after we asked for them three or four times. When the sauces came the waitress did not know which sauce was for each person, she left the sauces and went back to the kitchen to ask. By the time she came back we already figured it out. After our first round, we asked for our second order of shrimp and fries (that, by the way, is one portion of fries for the whole table). It passed 40 min and nobody brought anything, we asked several times to different servers and the only answer we received was they are coming. After so long, we decided to cancel the order and is then when they brought our second round of shrimp. Honestly, we wait for so long that we were pretty upset with the service, we ended up paying $21 each for only one round of shirmp.

Very bad experience. Service: first time ordering from this location since it opened and they forgot to add lotus root to my order even though they charged me for it. When I called back and tell the waitress that one of my side is missing she just simply asks me to come back and get it. No apology or anything. I didn't want to come back since I dont want my food waiting at home getting cold. Then she asks if I dont come there how can she give me a refund. Basically there 's nothing they can do to resolve the situation. I had to ask if she can write down my name and give me the discount next time I come back. During our whole conversation the waitress never apologized to me. Staff are clearly not trained well to provide resolution to customers. I have always ordered from their Cambie location and they never forgot my order. Food: I agree with another review on Yelp that they didn’t put enough sauce on the seafood. But because I ordered takeout, I couldn’t ask for extra sauce. Also, their sauce is way too watery comparing to the thicker consistency sauce they have at the Cambie location, maybe that ‘s why the sauce doesn’t stick to the seafood and make everything bland overall. Our mussels were overcooked and it was rubbery and very tough to chew. The addon sausage was also dried and hard. I am usually quite easy with food but this I ‘ll pass. I have ordered from the Cambie location more than 10 times before and their food quality were always consistently good. I understand that this location is just opened and still have a lot to improve but with this quality, next time I ‘ll drive extra 10 minutes to the Cambie location to get better food quality and service.

Brought my uncle and his family over with my husband and mom for the first time and overall experience was pretty amazing except that the prices were a little bit expensive for the amount of food. Experience: 6/10 - Only because if you have been to these messy seafood eating places where you eat right off the table, you’d be shocked to see the amount of plastic bags they use to deliver the seafood up to you as well as all the plastic gloves and bibs. My husband and I wanted that finger-licking experience and opted out of the gloves and bibs but it was pretty shocking to see just how much plastic was being used! Food: 10/10 - I highly recommend the spicy flavouring for their fried rice and their fries. Oh my goodness their fries are delicious! Just the thought of their freshly fried fries with spicy Cajun seasoning is just making me really hungry right now. Location: 8/10 - I mean it is along the busier restaurant side of Robson Street so finding it is easy if you’re walking or taking the bus. Parking on the other hand.. not only is it a bit more challenging to find parking during dinner time but the prices of parking can be a tad crazy. Service: 8/10 - slightly under staffed when we went on Christmas Day, the whole room was packed with people and more were waiting for spots. Only saw maybe 2 waitresses and one male staff (possibly the boss as he wasn’t wearing staff clothing) working the floors. I’d totally come back again but maybe consider coming in the summer time or when the seafood market isn’t as high priced in the off-season :) Totally want to get messy!

Thursday night around 7pm. 3 people plus a baby. Got seated right away. ordered the shrimps with garlic sauce, clams with captain's cause, ( both sauses were non-spicy) side order sausage and okra and seafood fry rice. portions were very reasonable. seafood was fresh. the garlic sauce was yummy. service was friendly. the only downside, when you ask for sharing bowls and folks, the bowls were styrofoam and the floks were plastic. not too good for our future generations. :)

WARNING: Do not go here if you are looking for a decent seafood experience. My brother and I ordered the most expensive dinner package on the menu reeling in a $245. It was a special occasion so we thought we would celebrate. We began to get nervous when we started looking around at other tables when we could see the disappointment on the other customers faces as their food came. So anyhow our food started to come out bags and was plopped down infront of us. We asked for plates but the staff just laughed at us. We asked for cutlery and we were ignored. Our steamed vegetables (that were in bags) had no butter. We asked about this as well and were ignored again. Finally our lobster came out and when we asked for butter and were told that it would be an extra charge. For the amount of money we were already paying this was a slap in the face. After receiving a bad service in another location, we decided to visit a different location (Robson) hoping for a better service. We were denied a table saying they were full. We asked if we could wait but they said no and would rather have us order tske out instead. So we did. While waiting for the order, a new customer, who also had no reservation. They were given a table right away while we were just denied a few minutes ago! This was done right in front of us which of course frustrated us! Two different locations but same rude and incompetent service!!!

Was pleased to discover a location that opened nearby. We enjoyed our pound of shrimp selection with added okra and sausage. We opted for the medium spice level for the Captain's Boil flavour and for a girl who enjoys spicy food, I was happy we didn't go for the fire level. The spice sneaks up on you. It's a licensed establishment, and the cold Sapporo beer was the perfect accompaniment.

Very unhappy with the whole experience I do not recommend Captain boil it should be called Captain spoil!!!
