Love the Foie Gras here. Always delicious. The atmosphere is really nice. Defenetly not a cheap place, but I think it’s worth it.

Josh Marshall

Oh! Man! What amazing food !

Camilo Ayala

Wow!! This is the quintessential Asian French fusion restaurant in western Canada... I have travelled and dined extensively and have never enjoyed the workmanship and quality of food as I did tonight... now.... to the service.... Sierra served us with grace, charm and a brilliant smile.... she knew profoundly all ingredients and skillfully and delivered a fun, expressive, descriptive invitation to all the dishes our party of six enjoyed... Pidgin is an experience ... the decor, the service, and the innovation in presentation and fresh flavours have inspired me to do this review!!! Thanks to Sierra and Brandon.

Kelvin Fong

Delicious and creative food, with beautiful cocktails. Love the sharing menu, and the ambience was very enjoyable. Unfortunately, only 2 bathrooms in the restaurant, and someone made a mess in one of them at one point, but the manager was very professional about it - we were impressed!

Alice Davis

We did a tasting menu with beverage pairings. They definitely did not dissapoint! I won't even try to choose which one was my favorite. It was all carefully curated, like telling a beautiful story with food. I will be back here and will recommend this place to friends!

Talid Jalbout

Family style greatness! With a menu that changes frequently with the seasons, your best bet is to get the chef's tasting menu. It's scaled to the amount of individuals in your party and highlights the best dishes. If you're feeling adventurous, I'd highly suggest pairing it with their wine selection or sake. Staff is great and very accommodating to special requests. Menu is always exciting and the presentation is always phenomenal.

Jose Galindo

Delicious upscale eats and friendly servers. We had a late dinner, were the last ones in the restaurant and shared laughs with the staff.

Andy Zhang

Super good food and great service. Locally sources stuff and cooked / presented with love. We had the tasting menu and it was phenomenal. Covid precaution measures were exceptional.

Christina Clifford

The menu and service were ahead of our expectations. I surely loved the vibes of this place. First-rate place to take the family out for dinner.

Mike Williams

Maybe a little bit overrated. I have to go again. The staff was amazing. At last ! Real service where they do not rush you or get your plate out when you are still chewing. They do not also interrupt your conversation with your guest in order to ask you if everything is good. They observe and ask at the right time. Of course the waiters are French ! :) Being a server is a real career. Not just a job. They do deserve their tip. Not like so many other places... Food was amazing, cocktails were really unique ! It is Chinese/Asian based but i didn't really notice it in the menu to be honest :) and it's 100% alright.

Nathan Jackman

My fave restaurant in Vancouver hands down . Their food is amazing. I wish the location was better !

Jared W

FANTASTIC. DELICIOUS FOOD. INCREDIBLE STAFF ! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

Cole Graham

Food and service was very good. I think the dessert needs improvement. Bench seats with no back are also uncomfortable.

Barb Wild

This place is located in the shady area of the town but the place itself is modern and upscale. We got the oyster shooters, wild mushrooms, chicken karage with charcoal gochujang aioli, Lamb, foie gras bowl and chocolate semifredo. We found both the Oyster shooters and the mushrooms just ok, not bad but nothing exceptional.

Kevin

Tasting menu was amazing, so was the wine/sake pairings. Server was very knowledgeable. Loved it, will definitely be back!

Marijana Prpic

Everything is fabulous. Uni is my favorite, my wife likes the pad thai

Friday Evening meal - had the typical Vancouver Challenges of obtaining a reservation - but of course this had nothing to do with the restaurant itself. I was very excited to try Pidgin based on the reviews. The owner should be proud of what he built and food is good. Very Good but not great for the amount paid. The server who served us was what made the review so poor. When one eats out at a fancy restaurant, we expect three things. Great Food, Great Ambiance and Great Service. Pidgin receives 2 out of 3 in this category. Again - the food was good, the location and ambiance itself were very nice - the server belongs in Broadway play as a pretentious server serving only the snobbiest of individuals. I felt accosted on multiple occasions by this fellow, with each interaction feeling like he was speaking down to me. We ordered many small dishes and had some cocktails, leading up to what we hoped would be a fantastic meal and dessert. Finally, after the 5th interaction with this fellow, we decided to leave without having our dinner. I asked the server to please bring me my bill ($180 without a main course) and we left to another restaurant to enjoy a nice dinner and dessert to cap off the evening. As long as this waiter continues to work at this establishment - I will never recommend it regardless of how good the food is. Side Note - the owner did come by earlier to discuss the menu and welcome us - it was classy (he did not announce he was the owner) and much appreciated.

Morgan Bourke

The food was good, but a little too salty for my tastes. It was a nice experience to try for Dine Out but would not go back again. Shared the course with two other friends and were given very small servings that left us with the awkward situation of passing around the last mushroom. I think this menu was made for two–we shared two shallow bowls of an interesting creme brulee between three people. The Dine Out menu was a set course meant to be shared amongst the whole table, but the dishes served did not seem to serve that purpose. The tuna tartare and brussel sprout starters and the halibut main were delicious, a definite highlight of the meal. The duck, on the other hand, seemed like it could have been purchased from a decent BBQ joint from Richmond. They seemed a little understaffed for the night as the servers tried their best to provide service as best as they could. Took a little longer to get our bill wrapped up. The greeter was on her phone when we left. Overall, it seemed a little gentrified. There are better Dine Out choices to choose from, but if you want some delicate plates with nice ambiance this is for you.

Jimmy Feng

Love it here! Food is amazing, great wine selection and fun cocktails. Always very friendly staff

PiDGiN is an excellent restaurant, but stick to ala carte. They have some amazing dishes on the menu that doesn’t change (like the pork belly) and they are must tries. I’ve been underwhelmed by their tasting menu and would only suggest trying it if you’ve already tried the main dishes.

Kyle Larkin

The reviews for this restaurant seemed really good so we decided to give it a try during the dine out event. Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was utterly disappointing. Most of the dishes were either over salted or under salted. The dine out menu had a risotto dish. The risotto was undercooked to the point where it felt like we were eating the rice raw. We had to ask them to remake the risotto because it was too undercooked to eat. We were hoping that the risotto would be cooked properly the second time around; however, when it came out, it was barely edible and was still quite undercooked. The service wasn’t that great either. The server asked one of my friends if she wanted truffle in the mushroom dish and she said yes, only because the description already mentioned truffle as one of the ingredients in this dish. Little did she know, the server actually charged her for this truffle, which doesn’t make any sense because it was listed as one of the ingredients inside the dish. We don’t mind paying for the truffle but we would have liked a little more transparency in his communication. Overall, very disappointing Dine Out Vancouver experience and we will not recommend this place to friends or family.

Noel Kelaita

We've been there a few times with friends and love their unique menu and cocktails - highly recommended!! For our last visit, the hostess failed to do a good job, esp for such a place.

S L

Pretty good fusion food! Great selection of drinks!

Sam Seto

Absolutely incredible meal. We especially loved the pork belly rice bowl, rice cake, and the foie gras bowl. The flavours worked really well for us, and each dish was highly creative! Well done!

Chris U

My partner and I had an anniversary dinner at the chef's table and everything was perfect. There were lots of great drink options and a nice variety of vegan dishes. The server was friendly, knowledgable, and efficient. Everything was topped off with a tasty carrot cake dessert. I highly recommend eating at PiDGiN. It's among my favourite restaurants in Vancouver.

MsErwhite

I followed the recommendations of most people here and went for their tasting menu. I was not disappointed! Each dish was well thought out and used top quality ingredients. They are also open to accommodating different dietary needs. A nice place to splurge on every once in awhile

Lance

Been going here for a long time (about 5-6 years). It is always a delight to taste their creative menu items, carefully prepared with a variety of fresh ingredients. The staff is always cheerful and I enjoy the simple yet elegant atmosphere. Will be back many more times!

Hina

Great service, cool food, food times.

Great little venue. Had the pork belly rice bowl which was awesome. Cocktails were creative and delicious. Friendly staff, Jordan & Sam.

Richard Chang

Cocktails are awesome at this east Hastings place!

Nicolas Pizarro

Late review as I went here for the weekend of Valentines day. The food was good and service was good. A little pricy for the portions that you get but nothing wrong with it at all. Just doesn't crack my list of restaurants to go go to for what you pay/what you get. That's my judgement though and I think it depends on what kind of food you like.

lina chen

Fantastic service and delicious modern infused menu. Some of the dishes were a little too salty for my tastebuds

D

Drinks were all on point (I recommend the one eyed samurai). Cultivated mushrooms had great texture and flavours, dipping the mushrooms in the yolk made my night. Can't go wrong with Foie Gros rice bowl either! Connell (sp?) the bartender was friendly and attentive. Overall great dining experience

Max Z

This place was amazing. So many different kinds of food fused with things I would have never thought would go together. Cozy and comfy place with extremely friendly staff.

Irene C

Great service and very good food. Cocktails were not bad either.

Crazy Cryptomofo

Amazing food and even more amazing service. We tried the chef tasting menu and it was probably one of the best food we had. The service was super friendly and professional. Will definitely come back

Robert Sutherland

Fantastic food. Keto friendly. Lots of attention to detail. Excellent service and atmosphere

Had a great time at Pidgin restaurant. Great select of cocktails and an extensive collection of Japanese whiskey. Particularly enjoyed the Korean rice cakes, oyster mushrooms, risotto, and lamb. Recommend this restaurant for great tapas style dining.

Yum! First time trying out pidgin. It was very easy to make a reservation online, and the table I reserved for 6 was very spacious. We appreciated the hand sanitizer upon arrival, as well as the spritz bottle on the table. We started with some delicious cocktails (park meadows was perfect, loved the gin) and I also tried the sake flight (I personally love nigori). Onto food - they recommend sharing but with covid, we opted to stick with own plates. I had the foie gras rice bowl with chestnuts, daikon, unagi glaze. What an umami bomb! A little pricey but well worth it!

Marcie Frewin

so good i had to go back a second time, to try their vegetarian option for the dine out event - did not disappoint! everything was so delicious servers were knowledgeable, friendly without being overbearing. one of the best dining experiences i’ve had in a while, super excited to go back and try the rest of their menu! thank you to brandon and the team!

Calvin Yan

While I couldn't eat like this all the time as its rich for me, (typically eat more vegetarian meals) I enjoyed their protein heavy tasting menu! I'm still thinking about their tuna tartar (and I don't even like raw fish????)! The 7 course ( pre selected on tasting menu) dishes had me trying a few 'new to me' dishes and I was pleasantly surprised!! I found the amounts perfect and correct with the waiter's ("we aim to satisfy but not overwhelm"). I did find the Ling cod (which I was the most excited about when scanning the menu) to be a little dry, the puree and its accompaniment milder and less striking than the other dishes they brought. I was very impressed with the service, I found our waiter efficient and effective in delivering information about everything. His timing was excellent. I also found sitting at the 'chef table' with a view into the kitchen to be fun and interesting. My only complaint would be the hard bench that became very noticeable after an hour. That felt like an encouragement to move on, which countered my otherwise very welcomed and taken care of feeling. This is not a venue I would invite my vegetarian friends to, though Im sure they wouldn't let one starve, it caters to seafood and meat lovers! I will definitely return????

Eric Law

Fantastic food and a great sake and whisky selection. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. Very good stuff, definitely worth another visit if I'm back in town again!

Food was good, but just didn't blow me away.

Had an amazing experience here for my sister's bday. Our wait staff was phenomenal; charming, attentive, informative and funny. The food was amazing. We did a tasting menu and each dish we got was better than the last. We sat next to the kitchen and had the best seats in the house. Top to bottom unreal experience. Thank you Pidgin! We loved you so ❤️

Bianca Luo

Love the creative fusion dishes they made every time, very delicious and nice environment Waiters are nice, perfect dinning experience

Randi S

Fourth time visiting. The menu always delights.

Jennifer Husmo

Absolutely stellar dining experience in Vancouver. Classic, well executed take on Pacific Northwest cuisine. Wicked whisky selection as well.

Juan Luis Garrido

Went during dineout and was absolutely blown away!! The menu was incredible, the food was incredible, and the service was incredible even when they were extremely busy. Will definitely be back again, cannot wait to try the full menu!!!!

Dennis Oldroyd

Pidgin is definitely worthy restaurant ! Especially foie gras rice bowl!

Marjan Farahbod

The set menu is awful! Can’t believe green pepper is in the desert and the cream brûlée is spicy!! Expensive and bad service!

Lucy Gao

Get the tasting menu. You'll be very impressed. Great value. Bold flavours. Unique combos. Impeccable service.

Michel Durocher

What an absolute joy. The cocktail menu has a great mixture of classic and creative. The food was excellent—well thought out, well prepared, well presented, and very apparently the product of a passion for food. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable. If I find myself in Vancouver again, I know where I will be eating.

Sarah Tian

Try the tasting menu. It was great, especially the duck

Mark Dunkley

Order the rice cake ragu and the potato. Delish!

Kris Erickson

The service could use a little improvement, it is a little slow even at time to order, but other than that it is an excellent place to try Asian fusion. Not the best location but the foie grass makes me keep on coming.

John-Paul Martelino

A fantastic experience for our anniversary. We did the tasting menu and highly recommend it. Good sized portions and amazing flavours. Great service: Our servers were friendly and attentive. A perfect special occasion meal!

Jennefer Boudreau

Amazing food. And excellent service, perfect balance of flavours and beautifully executed!!

James Barrie

My absolute favourite restaurant in Vancouver. You have to try their foie gras rice bowl and sable fish dish!

Audrey L

Awesome food and great cocktails. Perfect for a date or group, not ideal for a solo meal, but the staff helped me out to make sure I got most of the full Pidgin experience. Very obvious that everyone in the kitchen and behind the bar are serious about quality and artistry.

Fancy. Food with special names. Hard to pronounce and requiring a chemistry degree to understand the cooking process. But yay and good times. Duck a fun time with the server.

Food was unbelievably amazing. Went here for dine out vancouver 2018 and fell absolutely in love with the meals and the wine/sake pairing. Go here!!

Kevin Bocking

The food and staff are always amazing here. Very different from other restaurants in the neighbourhood, and has a fun atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone.

Christina W.

Went to Pidgin for Dine Out and was more than pleasantly surprised by how good both the service and food were. My expectations were not high because in the past I've found restaurants tone things down for Dine Out type events, but that was …

Anthony Costa

I had the tasting menu and it was perfect. The staff were amazing, the service was without flaw and the food was exquisite. The soft shell crab tempura with hondashi mayo was divine. I disagree with a previous review saying the octopus tasted like "fish sausage" and it was one of my favorite dishes. Being on my own I only had the halibut and it was a rich and decadent way to finish the savory portion of the menu. The carrot cake was good, much lighter than I'm used too. I loved the yuzu curd and the crisp candied carrot. In general I found it to be a cohesive concept that was well reflected in the dishes served. Thank you

Melody Tran

This place is incredible - I would highly recommend. I also appreciate the Covid protocols they are still following to keep their guests and staff safe. Any business that takes good care of their staff will continue to have my business, especially considering the year and a half we have all had.

Daniela Mager

Food was very average compared to other Asian Fusion restaurants I've been to. Duck was too dry and the dessert was nearly inedible. However, I will be returning due to the awesome banter I had with the bartender chick...and she makes some of the best cocktails I've ever had the pleasure of consuming!

Matthew Parslow

What a great experience! Service and taste, all added up to a fantastic experience. I got the daily ceviche, cultivated mushrooms and the foie gras rice bowl. Our server (she mentioned she is usually the bartender) was very attentive and kind. It was my friend’s first time trying foie gras, and even me with previous experience, loved their signature dish. There were also some large tables and I thought it would be nice to hold big group gatherings. Simple yet trendy interior which I also loved. 10/10 would recommend!!

Robyn Stalkie

Amazing experience. Must do the tasting menu, best to let the professionals for you. Service was top notch.

Luke Pedersen

Was expecting pidgeon meat, had the tasting menu instead - very tasty, unique cocktail options and great service.

KI HYUN SONG

The seasonings for the dishes are horrible.

R H

Delicious food and exceptional service. Even during dine out, everything was great!

Joey Wu

I ate here with friends and I had the worst experience... they forgot about my order and I waited 30 mins before I realized my food wasn't coming . The server didn't really confirm why I was sitting there with no food. Maybe they think I wasn't ordering? Not sure... When we brought it up the server was indifferent and the manager didn't really own up to the mistake and was pretty defensive. They ended up sending my order through the kitchen. By then my friends has finished their food and I was left to awkwardly finish my food which came so late I didn't even want it anymore. I'm pretty easy going when it comes to service and I understand when it gets busy... but this place made me never want to return again. I was pretty upset..

Karen Castro

Great service and food. Asian fusion style. Sable fish was little under cooked but they were quick to rectify it. Although I enjoyed the food it wasn't overly unique enough that I would return.

Alvin Wong

Pidgin was recommended to us by another restaurant in Vancouver. This place is amazing!!! Probably the best meal I've ever tasted. It was so good that we went again 2 days later. Simply amazing!!

Bea Servando

Celebrated a huge milestone in my life here and the restaurant provided the perfect amount of intimacy and deliciousness. The atmosphere was very chill, servers were attentive, and the playlist was top notch. The food was perfect - opted out of the tasting menu, instead had three tapas. This was a good amount of food, leaving enough room for dessert. Knocking down a star for the underwhelming dessert. The pre-dinner snacks were a bit questionable but I can’t complain as they were complimentary.

Anika Talwalkar

Great drinks but underwhelming food unfortunately.

Terry Curtis

Great food experience, thanks Conal

Eric Kai

Pidgin is the place to eat! If you're bored of all the regular food in town, definitely try out this place. I'd say it's Asian fusion, but like you've never experienced. Everything tastes great, and the flavours give you a hint of all countries around the globe. Staff and ambience is top notch, but the excellent chef behind the scenes is the real one who takes the cake. Presentation was amazing, right up there with the quality of the food. Try the Prix Finx menu, and you'll be in for an amazing treat. It's a sampler of many of their dishes, I liked them all, you'll certainly find your favorite in the mix. This place is a hidden secret in town, go discover it for yourself, you'll thank yourself.

Kathy Zhang

Using the word, "fusion", to describe Pidgin would be misleading; Their food is a lot more creative and thoughtful than what the term implies. Excellent drink selection. Service is great. And of course the food is delicious. Worth the visit.

Heliomar Moura

Great ambience, friendly staff, spectacular food prepared but the Pidgin "wizards". Highly recommend.

Adam Dymitruk

have to order their chicken wings and Foie Gras rice bowl! Ask for Jordan

Felix Liang

Tasting menu is the way to go. Live their innovative drinks and whiskey flights as well

Stephanie

We had a *lovely* experience for the Valentine’s prix fixe - 7 course. Did get a bit pricey when we added the wine pairing after the initial booking through Tock but the pairing was on point. The octopus was amazing and cooked perfectly. We love ikura so it was delicious with the Kushi oysters and mussels course.

Carissa Tham

Great fusion food!

Menaka

I am just going to let the pictures do most of the talking. Amazing food and good service. Will be back!!!

Po Ching CHAN

I really like their food. I always get fantastic customer service here. The place is well kept and the cashiers are always very welcoming. Highly recommended.

Bradley Jones

All the food was phenomenal, the service was fantastic, and the interior of the restaurant was beautiful and refined. The cocktails were also top notch. We got the chicken wings, the Korean rice cakes, the pork belly rice bowl, and the duck. The rice cakes and the pork belly were by favourite and a must try.

Brandon Vulaj

Food was incredible. The sticky rice dish was amazing. The rib eye was out of the world. Very comfortable and nice being inside. Best service I have had in a long time. Server and owner were extremely helpful, talkative. Spent a fair amount of time talking about the dishes, talking about the history and various things. 10/10.

Wilson Liu

Tom Eaves

Absolutely delicious Asian-fusion. Amazing service. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu and it was all really tasty. Definitely recommend!

Jaz

Went to Pidgin for Dine Out and was more than pleasantly surprised by how good both the service and food were. My expectations were not high because in the past I've found restaurants tone things down for Dine Out type events, but that was not the case here. At $40 for 6 shared courses, this meal was great bargain. We opted for the wine pairing and were glad we did. Some of the wines were unusual in a really good way, and I appreciated being introduced to a few wine types that I hadn't tried before. Would highly recommend.

Yana Yushkina

Came here for Galatines (valentines with the ladies) on a Sunday, great tip here is they have a $2 cork fee for bottles! Amazing and great to bring your bottles to have a drink with the ladies for Sunday Food: everything here was delicious and you must try the oyster shot. Refreshing and delicious. The food here is a Japanese-French cuisine and I’m surprised how everything turned out. Unique and fresh with great flavours We ordered 5 dishes and all were good! Coming back here again, this time with my boyfriend Pricing: it’s unique and quality food makes it worth your money here Interior: cute and simple, a bit dark which makes me a bit sleepy but overall a cute small place Customer service: the gentle men here was fun and checked up on us a few times which was sweet of him Overall, give this place a try for a unique fusion flavours!

Orrett Morgan

Located on the fringes of gastown, this is a very good place to eat. The food is phenominal but the service and decor could be improved.

Good atmosphere. Good food. 5 stars. Located in downtown east side. This secluded hidden gem provide thoughtful separations to the outside. Food and cocktails are tasteful but a little bit on an expensive side. Come here to tease your pallet.

Very good food. Their prixe fix menu is delicious though a bit pricey with only two courses that has meat. Restaurant has very good decor. Note to tourists: the restaurant isn't in a good part of town so be aware if walking to the restaurant.

This place should relocate.

Adam Pugh

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver. Pidgin's approach to asian fusion food brings the genre to a whole new level. I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity make a mini-documentary featuring the restaurant. The amount of thought and effort they put into making their dishes really shows. If you are well versed in cuisines around the world, you can actually dissect each one of their dishes and figure out which parts of the world the dish is inspired from. Only reason for the lack of 1-star is their quality control, I've been back over and dozen times and occasionally the dishes may be too oily or too salty. Their Pork Belly Rice Bowl is literally one of my favorite dishes in Vancouver but unfortunately there have been times when its so greasy I can't even finish the dish.

Elaine Ye (pianpian)

Farm to table inventive and delicious...

Andrea Paine

Absolutely fantastic! The food is out of this world and the service is really great.

michele shorter

Amazing food and amazing service. Everything was delicious and people went out of their way to make it memorable. We opted for prixe fixe menu. Soo yummy and worthwhile. Good if you want a taste of everything!

Jack Stanbury

Always comforting to come here. One eyed samurai is my fave cocktail here. Also love their oyster shot and foie gras rice bowl. Whenever I go, I try to order as many items as possible since some items are always changing!

M.S 89

Excellent seven course meal if you try the prix fixe menu. Knowledgeable friendly staff keeps you at ease and excited to try the next course!

Daniel Conners

Really great cocktails

Anand Ramaswamy

Not sure what Pidgin is like but I went there for the Crumb Sandwich Pop Up, and it was amazing

Tamara Loyer

Great service, drinks, and food!

Geoffrey Richards

Love the food, the bar (best cocktails) the atmosphere inside the restaurant it’s just unfortunately in a horrible part of town which pushes us away from visiting frequently.

Sam N

Took like 3 hrs to get out I wanted to die

Wesley H

Pidgin is definitely worth a visit. The food was very good, although not mind blowing. I had the pork belly rice bowl which was delicious, but one of my companions was a little disappointed in his steak. We all loved the fried chicken wings, which were crispy with a very flavourful and not too spicy sauce. The cocktails are creative and tasty, and they have a respectable sake selection. Our server was awesome!

Travis-Layne Olson

Great food, great service

Shelley Chen

This place gives fantastic service and enjoyable meals. My favourite place ever. The food and drinks came out quick and the rates were fair. I recommend this place.

Scott Morris Rose

Pidgin never fails to disappoint. The food is always top notch. Service is casual and yet polished. The room is fun and the cocktails delicious. I'll be back as soon as I can.

Eunsan Huh

Amazing food. Love the fusion asian element. Each dish was well thought out, complex and super tasty. Loved the foie gras rice. Highly recommend.

Yummy fusion foods Quite expensive

Dennis Qu

The food is ok. But the waiter tried to steal from us by charging extra tips.

My friends and I enjoyed an amazing meal at Pidgin! Funky location, fantastic decor, excellent service, one of the best meals we have ever shared. Highlights included the Korean rice cake with gochujang bolognese and the fried chicken wings. My favourite: udon vongole. Will definitely recommend and return.

Auni Amouri

The Duck is to die for... if you'll only ever go there once, the Duck is worth every it's weight in gold. awesome atmosphere and excellent social staff.

Paulie T

food is delicious but if you can't sit down, sit at the bar for some cocktails and appetizers, chicken wings are drool worthy

Steve Ash

Phenomenal restaurant in a trendy neighbourhood. While it continues to be on the edge of East Hastings, inside Pidgin you'll feel right at home. There is attention paid to the details for each small dish which makes them all unique and delicious. If you're looking for a great Vancouver dining experience, look no further!

David Ford

Fantastic experience! We brought several employees here. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and polite. The food was excellent and completely different from anything I had tried before. They were also excellent at accommodating allergies. My only criticism is that the duck we were served at the end of our meal was a bit dry.

Rik Verra

Love eating here!!! Their Oyster shots are fantastic!! Always interesting and creative tapas

Kevin Milligan

I'd give this a 3.5. I've only been once, for Dine Out Vancouver, so this might have affected my experience. The food is very innovative. We enjoyed the combination of ingredients and flavours. The sablefish in the broth particularly, was perfect. For a fine dine experience though, it did not really feel like one. The dishes were all served in one bowl with smaller individual bowls, but there was no cutlery for some courses except chopsticks. The wait staff was professional and efficient but not kind or friendly. While explaining the dishes, one of the servers was too fast and incomprehensible. We couldn't grasp any of what she said. All the wait staff focused on explaining the dish to only me, leaving my partner out of the explanation. Since it was out first Dine Out experience, we would have appreciated a bit of prologue, maybe even some suggestions/tips such as drinks pairing, but none were forthcoming from the waitstaff. The tables were very close together, such that it was easier to hear the conversation alongside than with my partner across me. I would probably go back on a quieter day and not for any promotional event.

jane tse

Wonderful food and stunning presentation make this place a winner any day. So many great tastes!

Anthony S

We went for the tasting menu recently and were unfortunately very disappointed. We had both been to PiDGiN before and loved it previously. This time, only 2 of the 7 dishes were anywhere close to the standard we would have expected. Unfortunately the theme of the dishes was "underseasoned". The sashimi and maitake tempura were very bland and didn't taste particularly fresh. The octopus dish was lacking flavour and particularly disappointing because my friend had had it previously and described it as amazing. The halibut was passable but tasted more like something you'd cook yourself at home when you weren't feeling well. The only saving grace was the elk and the dessert. The elk was flavourful and cooked perfectly. It was as if the kitchen suddenly found the salt. The carrot cake was a very nice surprise. I'm not usually overly excited about carrot cake, but the deconstructed approach with various overlapping textures was a delight. All in all, the food was inconsistent and did not seem anywhere near worth it for the price. We were so dejected that we stopped taking photos of the food. The ambiance and service was great though. Quick, efficient, and courteous. I just felt it a shame I couldn't bring myself to say more than "fine" when the server asked how the meal was. I hope I didn't come off too rude. Hopefully PiDGiN fixes the direction it is going and restores it's former glory.

Their seasonal cocktails are different but worth trying. The sad part is sometimes they will retire a cocktail creation that you may like. Happy Hour after 1030 on weekdays may have the kitchen closed, so it's a drink only affair. The pork belly is so tender and flavorful. The bone marrow is some of the best in the city. Staff are attentive and friendly.

We went to this place about a week ago after a whole week of amazing restaurant experiences in Vancouver. I have to say, our expectations far exceeded the actual reality. The food looked so good on paper, but when it came out it was nothing short of mediocre. We got the beef tendon chicharones, pork belly bibimbap, agadashi tofu for mains / apps. The tofu and the pork belly bowl held a lot of promise but were really bland, we were really disappointed. The chicharrones was much better than the other dishes. Then, we still held onto our expectations and ordered the carrot cake - which, again fell short. It was really dry and bland. Service was fine - pretty efficient, although not entirely personal. Food was below mediocre and I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Fantastic cocktails, great selection of Japanese Whiskey knowledgeable staff, and a delicious fusion of Asian and Western plates. A must-visit if you are in Vancouver.

Friendly staff, upscale setting, creative and inspiring cuisine. Best Asian French fusion in town.

Try the tasting menu, very good service, well knowledged! Rice cakes are the best!!!

Great cocktails... Great bartender... She was very entertaining! Excellent decor ... Very friendly staff ... Will be back!

Delicious food with friendly service! Highly recommend the pork belly bowl and the chicken wings are a must-get.

We reached a little late and tasting menu wasn’t available then, however I ordered pork belly friend rice and it was great. Red wine selection is not that good.

Ruxandra Fediuc

Hands down my favourite restaurant in Vancouver. The food is ALWAYS incredible, and the cocktails are fun, creative, and tasty. I also love that the menu items are forever changing, it keeps it exciting every time I go in. If you have a chance to try the sous vide octopus, TRY IT!!!

Sam Fisher

Amazing restaurant at the east end of gas town. The pork belly rice is a must have

Sandeep Singh

Fantastic atmosphere, delicious food and drinks. Very chill vibes. Great service. Would highly recommend swinging by for happy hour at the bar.

Angie Luu

Came for drinks after a year or so absence. Premix was heavy on the vermouth which over powered everything else. Did a flight and was planning more, but the heavy handed mix killed the pallette. Atmosphere is nice, staff likes to chat amongst themselves and getting their attention become a gambling excercise with pretty abysmal odds.... Alot of places to drink and eat around the rejuvenated Woodward's core, pidgin is skippable now. Will miss the coffee ice.

Richard Langston

Consistently great food and service, be sure to try the oyster shot!

On recommendations of a friend, luckily we had made reservations in advance as there was already a small line-up outside the restaurant when we arrived at 5:25, the restaurant opens promptly at 5:30 and tables filled up quite a quickly. The wait staff are amazing. Friendly, attentive while not being intrusive.

Ritchie Yip

Every dish was very good! Would definitely feel good taking friends here. #datenite

The Fois Gras bowl...is to DIE for! The service is amazing and the food is fantastic!

Caroline Lewko

Amazing experience. Had the tasting menu. Server was very knowledgeable about the food, wine, and sake. Flavour combinations of the food were amazing. Mushrooms, in particular, were really good. Asian food using Italian and French cooking principles.

Came here a few weeks ago and was totally blown away. My partner and i go to a lot of places in the city and this is on our top list. The tasting menu was amazing especially for our first time. I'm excited to come back and try more things off their menu.

Benoit Lachapelle

Legend in it's own time. Vancouver West Coast fusion dining at it's best. Well sculpted environment, drinks and menu that will delight your pallet. Was in recently and they have a very safe, comfortable layout. We went with the chef’s menu and our waiter was spectacular. Great knowledge, suggestions and making for an entertaining evening. The food was impeccable and delicious, fresh local ingredients. We’ll definitely be going back, a staple in Vancouver’s fining dining.

No doubt taking inspiration from the cultural enclaves of the communities around it and integrating a bit of that West Coast love, Pidgin restaurant is a fine culinary manifestation of the mosaic Vancouver enjoys. The interior marries casual and fine dining; wooden accents against neutral tones paired with an ambient duo of perfectly dim lights and candles. The perfect place for me and my partner to take her parents out for her father's 50th. We were greeted by our server, Ryan T, led to our table, given a little spiel about the restaurant, and let our predetermined order of the tasting menu be known. That day's particular amuse bouche caught me off guard; in-house made kimchi, agedashi tofu, and pickled vegetables. Familiar with all three, I almost brushed them off, however, the meticulous simplicity spoke to me. Three different cooking styles: fermentation, frying, and pickling, all done really well and working together on one plate to create a nice balance. Not overly complex, the importance of the integrity of ingredients was showcased in this. This one humbled and prepared me for the rest of the menu. A spin on the popular chicken ballotine, the pheasant ballotine. I was happy because the presence of the pheasant shows the restaurant's commitment to the West Coast. Knowing that pheasant requires discipline when cooking, I was happy with the texture of the ballotine itself. Paired with the sweet chestnut jus and the suuuper rich foie torchon, possibly one of my favourite bites of the menu. My partner's favourite course comes next. A medley of grilled squash from Hannah Brook Farms, paired with citrus concoctions and mustard seeds. As people who enjoy a good kabocha dish, we were thrilled with the combination of the sweet and nuttiness of the squash, citrus from the sauces, and the sweet texture that the mustard seed provided. Almost wanted to lick the plate! After a dish perfect for the colder seasons, we were reaffirmed of Pidgin's commitment to the integrity of their ingredients and food. A nice chirashi bowl consisting of Uni and Ikura did the trick. The sushi rice was good, however, I suspect the sushi rice not hangiri-made; the rice vinegar and seasoning could have been more even, there were pockets of the rice with less flavour than others. I'm kind of a stickler for rice if you couldn't tell haha. I was REALLY impressed by the uni though. I often use uni as a test to see how well a sushi place handles product because there is a carefulness needed when playing with uni. Pidgin delivered. Buttery, creamy, and rich, this uni melts in your mouth without any of the brininess that some restaurants struggle with. Paired with the pop and juice of the ikura, and some nicely done kombu, this pairing is a simple reminder of the importance of texture in a dish. The sake-kasu sablefish that followed was great; I always find that dishes like this remind me of an oasis that surrounds a large body of water. I am not really a fan of sake-kasu, I find it a bit too strong for me, however, I'm always intrigued to see how people balance the flavour. The rich bacon-dashi cream did a good job at dialing down the booziness and provided the fish a good environment to thrive on. The vegetables, greens of the oasis, provided some nice mild flavours that expanded the range of the dish. The Wagyu Bavette. Phenomenal. I've been acquainted with Bavettes that have had a bit more of... chew on them, however, because of the fat and marbling of wagyu, it makes this dish super safe and super tasty! This dish almost made me feel hedonistically guilty haha. Wagyu, gnocchi, and well-cooked vegetables, what more could you want? Dessert was nostalgic. A heartwarming end to the tale.Tapioca pudding with Japan-inspired mulled fruit jelly, ovaltine rocks and a breath of shiso in the dish to give us that jolt of energy for whatever came after dinner. Prompt plate changes, mise en place, stealthy refills, course timing, amazing romancing, and product knowledge. Ryan for sure killed it. Great food, great service, enough said!

Chad Sichello

Hands down, the best meal I had the entire week while visiting Vancouver. The dry aged striploin, black garlic butter, fermented bok choy, paired with le vieux pin, violette, syrah was DIVINE. I will never be the same.

Jennifer Garcia

As I step in and sit down, the first words out of our servers mouth felt like it had already determined it’s fate. “It’s 6o clock and we need this table by 8:30.” I believe Abraham Lincoln was told the same thing that night about his loge(theatre box seating). The food was already ordered for family style eating, so the restaurant determines really if we get out on time. The food was overly salty. There’s seems to be sauerkraut in most dishes. You’ll see them in my pictures, the beat salad, the slow braise short ribs and duck confit. I believe the salmon with crispy skin is the only dish I can say I enjoyed. So as the desert came out it was about 8:20pm and I reached for my drink and it was gone. I asked the server and she said it was empty and took it away. I’m pretty sure I hadn’t finished my Moscow mule but I’m not about to Rock the boat when everyone is having a good time. However I don’t think I’ll be back when there are plenty of places, that wouldn’t rush a meal.

Anh Dinh

This restaurant was excellent!! We were a group of 5 from Ontario and went here sepcifically for the Dine Out Vancouver option. It did not disappoint!! The food was amazing. We wished there was more! The wine that was suggested to us by the manager was exceptional. He was knowledgeable and personable. It was quite dark in there but we all thuroughly enjoyed our experience here and would return when in Vancouver. Highly suggest it!

Stephanie Anziano

foie gras is not done and a little expensive as well. The most ridiculous thing is that the owner replied me that he has no word to say to me. Then why do you reply? Everyone has their own opinion that’s why we have this evaluation system. I must say everything is perfect in your restaurant? Ridiculous

Ricky Chung

Delicious and imaginative food.

Kevin Chung

Nice restaurant, serving fusion food. I have never complained about the food, but sometimes the service can feel a bit rushed. In a slightly dodgy part of town, but I've never had a problem.

Julia Pelin

Loved our meal there. We tried 6 or 7 dishes and all were flavorful and different. Lots of vegetarian options and they even made one meat dish vegetarian for us. Friendly service. Will definitely return.

Clinton Chan

Had Prix fixe menu. Terrific flavors and great presentation. The neighborhood is bad near a notorious drug park but the restaurant is worth the trip. We also had the elk carpacio which was amazing.

The dishes they prepare are truly amazing ❤️ lots of thought and care. We were a party of 6 and no problem whatever our dietary requirements. Really delicious and beautiful ❤️

Thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu. Knock out dishes were: ????????The sous vide ???? which I thought was well executed and perfectly seasoned. ????????The ???? tendon chicharron was incredible- we asked how they made it and it sounded like some sort of voodoo magic ???? it just tasted robust yet much lighter than the ???? chicharrons. ????????spring salmon was melt in your mouth soft and buttery, that is no easy feat! ????????the szechuan ???? beigniet combined savory and sweet and was unique. Service was outstanding. Price point was very fair for fine dining. I would go back again and eeeeat!

Everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the mushroom entree. I was a little bit disappointed with the foie gras dish, because I think it was too much rice for the foie and not enough sauce. But the foie itself was delicious.

What an incredible menu, owner, and staff!!! You really need to try everything, 4 of us went and shared multiple plates and every bite was delicious. This place has the most unique and tasty dish’s I’m sure you will become a regular after just one visit!!! Enjoy everyone:):):)

This is truly a special dining experience. 6 course meal, paired beautifully with wine, sake and cocktails. Went during "Dine out Vancouver" and was in awe. Will return, if only to sit at the prestigious chef's table. My favourite dish was the tuna tartar, and my favourite drink was a salted caramel coffee cocktail served with a sponge toffee garnish. Bravo. ????????

Samuel Araki

Can’t review the food because we never really got to that point. My belly got friend zoned by the waiter. Waited 1.5 hours to be disappointed by an appetizer salad. The only thing getting filled tonight is the colour in this star.

Adam Hutt

Went to $45 dine out event. It contains 6 courses plus a dessert. All served by family style, each course come with one dish, me and my bf share everything. The service is amazing, they take care of your feeling, explain each dishes and offer suggestions abt how to eat them. The only thing is the portion is a bit small for us. Definitely a great choice if you are comfortable with share the good with you friend/ family.

Incredible meal! The prix fixe menu is the best way to go at Pidgin - all the dishes are good but the sum is greater than the parts. From wrapping delicate onsen yolk with beautiful nori (seaweed) puree and house made naan to ridiculously indulgent bone marrow with carpaccio steak slices. Aburri trout belly was probably my favourite but hard to pick. The house made pickled veg are a wonderful palate cleanse between such diverse dishes. One of the best restaurants around, but you need to do the chef's menu to really understand what they are trying to convey in the food. It's more than worth it.

Elias M

Food is alright. Service is fabulous.

Christine Lee Kim

Took shameless advantage of circumstances that fis forcing this place to deliver. It has been on my list of must tries for a long time but I haven't had anyone I like enough to take there :P. I got the ribeye steak for two (yes, for just me...I did manage to restrain myself and have leftovers) which came with beef tendon chicharrons (what is this culinary back magic?), Korean rice cake with Gochujung bolognese to die and/or kill for, brussel sprouts sprinkled with something buttery and scrumptions and an addictive mushroom concoction featuring a ramen egg. The steak came sliced but it was unnecessary as it was so tender you could practically spread it with a butter knife. I saved some of the sauce and cooked my scrambled eggs in it next morning. Yum x 1000! Also, they included a very nice note in the takeout bag.

Dieter Morgan

SOO good! must have while in vancouver

My husband and I had dinner here tonight, the 7 course set menu for their soft reopening which did not disappoint .. the first time we had dinner here was on our very first date 5+ years ago and as strange as things are right now it still had that comfortable family feeling.

Guillaume Vassas

Great service, food and drinks. Had the prix fixe menu for dinner - numerous memorable dishes.

Great Food!

Sandeep Dhillon

Their Valentine’s Day set menu scheme is a joke. $175 for a full order of sick jokes.

Sandra Wunsch

Had one of the best cocktails here! Food was incredible and was worth the wait! We sat at the bar (only seats left) so it ruined the atmosphere as we were right by the door. Other then that- 5 star!

Will Whittaker

Great staff, & unique meal. Great for sharing also.

Suvd S

Overall my friend and I enjoyed our meals! We did a la carte and were well stuffed and satisfied by the end. The octopus dish was normal, sous vide tentacles were tender and not chewy, confit taters were soggy, dish a bit underseasoned. The mushroom rice bowl wasn't too special, the kimchi pears we particularly enjoyed though! Our favorite dish was probably the daikon and enoki stuffed cabbage, the sauce is kind of like an Asian sesame sauce but made of almonds instead. The bison was cooked a perfect medium rare, morels a bit too buttery + salty though. Great restaurant and vibes ????

Alasdair Butcher

Get the tasting menu. It is a wonderful way to experience the diversity of their menu, and it's really a great value for the experience that you get. The service was fantastic as well. We got thorough descriptions of our dishes and well thought out wine/sake pairings. Overall it was great and we'll surely go back soon.

Ashley Tham

Korean rice cakes and the sea urchin were delicious. We went initially for sake flights only but sampled a couple of the dishes. Will definitely be going back to have the tasting menu. Our server also recommended several other unknown spots in the city that we will be checking out!

Tried the summer tasting menu, and was underwhelmed. Perhaps my expectations were too high for this place, and it just didn't live up to it. This restaurant has an interesting shared tasting menu concept at for CAD 65 per person. We were able to finish the meal in about two hours. My favorite items were the oyster shooters and the sautéed mushrooms (with squash puree, yuzu brown butter, and ramen egg). The ramen egg was cooked perfectly, and the yolk provided a really nice dipping medium for the mushroom. I also liked the slight char/wok fire taste on the mushroom. There were 7 courses total -- a pickled starter dish, a salad, a squash dish, the mushroom dish, two proteins, and a dessert. The two proteins of the night were a poached halibut and seared duck. The halibut was a bit too meaty for my taste, and I wish the skin on the duck were crispier. There was also a missed opportunity to make the bok choy vegetables more vibrant. The dessert was pretty interesting, which was summer berries over some pound cake dusted with dehydrated raspberry. I guess that you get what you pay for, and while there were several courses, the quality of each course was somewhat lacking. I felt like I could have probably cooked some of the dishes, although the different puree sauces were a nice touch. Still, most of the dishes seemed pretty amateur -- like a slightly more refined home cooking. The ambiance was really nice though, and I liked the interior decoration of the restaurant. They have a really nice bar, and the cocktails could be really good. They also have a happy hour menu, which is nice. I like that there's a little something for everyone here -- from snacks to drinks to a tasting menu.

Gloria McPhadden

Really great unique food experience with a French /Asian fusion and reasonable prices. Delicious craft cocktails as well. Amazing atmosphere and beautiful contemporary set-up. One of my top 3 favourite restaurants in Vancouver.

Reina Wishart

This restaurant is a gem, the best and only Asian mix fusion. Japanese food as a base and fused with any other countries best cuisine. My favorite cocktail is their featured Rum, cinnamon, ginger, lime with their special Kodama ice. Brandon our server/manager/owner/ dishwasher...hehe made sure that we had an amazing time. He went above and beyond. I strongly recommend to get the prix fixe menu which is based on chef recommendations and you can always tailor it to your preference (like no onions, vegetarian, etc) to make sure you get the best food experience. A must try and will recommended to anyone who is looking for a really nice cozy, stylish restaurant.

Tom Wang

The food was excellent. The creative combination of delicious ingredients and flavours made for a delectable meal. The staff was very friendly and informative when explaining each dish.

Hyunseo Bae

Amazing service and food. Will definitely come again.

Verelle Tomford

Food looks nice, we had three dishes and enjoyed, but our table was without the candle when all other tables had one; we ordered a cocktail Simple Live it’s not served and even not showing on our bill. Is it my duty to remind to put a candle on the table or to remind there is something missed from my order? It might be my illusion but the bill came immediately after I finish my last dish.

Bill Melcher

So good

Marc Robichaud

Yes a little overrated. Service was pretty poor. Our server did not explain anything on the dish and before we can even ask her, she was gone. Food taste was mediocre. Not bad but could be better. I was a bit disappointed because I've heard a lot of good things but food was just okay and service was mediocre. It took me a few years to eat at this place but I don't think I have a reason to come back.

Ariana Debreuil

Love the flavor of mushrooms and pork belly. The service is great

Kirk Chantraine

The one eye samurai (in house cocktail) is worth the visit alone if you enjoy great cocktails.

Spent $160 between me and my girlfriend. Cod tasted like it was frozen and heated up in a microwave. Wine tasted a bit off but server told us it was our taste, not the wine. Not sure why the ratings are so high. Would never got back again.

Free wifi, ask for the password Service was friendly and professional The restaurants interior has nice clean lines and plates are made for sharing Ordered separately “it’s not sin city” mocktail Ordered the fixed menu for two, it came with: Oyster shots, pickled veggies, salad with walnut butter and sesame dressing, grilled asparagus, mushrooms, duck confit, salmon, pavlova for dessert I really enjoyed the dessert and would come back for that

Wow! We visited Pidgin during our visit to Vancouver and it was an absolute amazing food and service experience. Innovative, tasty and fresh food, very friendly and flexible staff and great drinks as well. We'd come back, if we wouldn't live in Germany :(.

Amazing experience. Had the tasting menu. Server was very knowledgeable about the food, wine, and sake. Flavour combinations of the food were amazing. Mushrooms, in particular, were really good. Asian food using Italian and French cooking principles.

Winnie Xu

Server was friendly and professional. The food was cooked perfectly and everything tasted very clean and sophisticated, drinks were nice. But for some reason none of the dishes stuck out to me. I really liked this place. Great atmosphere. Good food. Good prices. They have a great food variety that was all good, but man those wings... Amazing.

Desserts were a bit too sweet. The yuzu curd was fantastic though!

Had really high expectations and pidgin didn’t really deliver. Only okay cocktails/food/service.

Had the testing menu, the mushroom and halibut dishes were good. However the octopus and elk were chewy, not tender. Usually don't give too much thought to service but couldn't help but notice that the tables next to us that also had the tasting menu but were sat about 45 mins after us had the mains come out at the same time as ours. Our appetizers took forever to come out for some reason.

Did the chefs tasting menu last night and the food was to die for . Cocktails super yummy , waiter super funny …… we had such a wonderful evening. Worth every penny !

Viktor Forsberg

The best dining experience in Vancouver.

Greg Kakuno

Great ambiance, wine list, and service. Ordered from the tasting menu. Was a bit disappointed as none of the dishes stood out to me and I wasn’t thinking “wow I want more of this!” The wild rice dish was overly sweet for a salad and the octopus was over salted. Maybe I should have gone a la carte. Overall I am Not sure I’d recommend it considering the price point and because I wasn’t wowed by any of the dishes

Eve Grenon-Lafontaine

I've only been here twice but both times I really enjoyed it. The food was really delicious!! We had the mushroom dish and it was soooo good. I also really liked the cauliflower dish. The portions are rather small though (my cousin had to go for ramen after eating here!) but really yummy! Watch out for their sake menu pricing... sometimes the large size actually costs more per ml than the smaller split size - not a good deal!

Nicholas Box

Had their dineout menu which was fantastic. They had a bit of a mixup with our order but apologized and dealt with it very professionally. Service was really good. It's also a great place to try sake. The staff is knowledgeable and they have a great selection.

The service from when we walked in the door was so welcoming and inviting, we were so stoked to eat where Kym from top chef worked (they should’ve won) the whole experience was incredible, such flavorful food, knowledgeable staff and incredible food. Wonderful experience

Anita Hisir

Yet another wonderful dining experience at Pidgin! We tried the oyster shots, some of their delightful cocktails, and several other dishes on their feature and regular menu. The server was incredibly nice and helpful, and kindly explained to us the menu, together with offering some great recommendations. Definitely coming back!

Overall, a great experience and I recommend anyone who likes food to check this spot out. In a rough area but worth the risk. Very complex taste profiles on most dishes. Rice cake Bolognese had a surprise kick to it, making it quite a delicious dish. Pork belly bowl beautifully done with amazing compliments, and most dishes were excellent in fact and appearance. Some improvements: Host/server - Not warm and friendly, rubbed me the wrong way actually Perception of value and value of dishes not reflective of the price Drink service was slow for a 50% occupancy restaurant Server did not check in on us after third round of food so I decided not to order a fourth round Tomato could have used an additional flavor profile It is hard to eat everything out of the bowl Steak was very chewy, not a nice cut if you ask me and major value issue in my opinion

Kristi DeWolf

This is the best food in the city. Great no rules menu, which is exceptionally difficult to pull off. Only comparable place I’ve been is State Bird Provisions in San Francisco.

We had our staff Xmas party at Pidgin this year- it was truly outstanding! The owner, Brandon, moved heaven and earth for us to get a table for 11 people on a Friday in the middle of December- crazy awesome! Hao Young, the manager was exceptionally accommodating and attentive. Our server, Matt, was charming, funny and cool. The dining experience was like no other. Chef Makoto is a genius. The lamb is probably the best thing I've ever eaten. Robin, the bartender, creates the most finely crafted cocktails in the city. Pidgin puts together an amazing experience. We partied like rock stars and we still came in under budget. I would have spent more money at Cactus Club. I don't know how you do it Brandon :-) Thank you so much!

Spencer Powell

Had a great dinner experience with their tasting menu. The courses are well thought out. The combination of flavors are surprising and delicious!

Laura Murphy

Amazing food and cocktails... Always busy so book in advance!

Tigs

Honestly, very disappointed. I'm normally not that picky regarding restaurant, but when the final bill turns around 300$CAD, I think I can be more critical. We are from Montreal, we heard that this restaurant was interesting... No intense flavor, almost no saltiness and acidity in the meals, very basic visual/presentation, doesn't worth the price at all. Please work with the basic flavor profiles: Salt, Sugar, Bitter, Acid and Umami. Finally, please do not create gluten-free desert when your customers have no allergies... The texture was a disaster. However, good service in general, but please do NOT bring us our red wine bottle COLD directly from the fridge...please no.

Alex Boyce

Get the Korean rice cake, foie gras rice bowl and Szechuan beignets!

Truly fine dining experience during a very challenging time for local restaurants. We were blown away by the quality of the dishes, and presentation (despite requiring delivery). Very reasonably priced. We loved the pork belly bowl, brussel sprouts, cultivated mushrooms, Korean rice cake and chicken karaage. Could not have imagined a more flavourful enjoyable meal

No doubt Pidgin offers up some next level intelligence in culinary creations. A staff there even told me that they boast to be the highest mover of foie gras of all restaurants in the lower mainland - not sure how true that is what with the likes of Le Crocodile and Au Comptoir, etc. Yes, their craft cocktails are amazing, made with much attention to details and care. The service, top notch without being overly pretentious. However, and this is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 from me, I cannot shake the uneasy feeling of having a $200+ meal with a date while there are homeless people outside across the street...

Great place to eat. Go prix fixe and you'll be happy you did. Wonderfully creative food, and a nice atmosphere to share with a group up to 6.

Though it can be a bit of a scary neighborhood where the restaurant is, I love this place for their cocktail and foodie plates.

Best service anyone could ever want!! 10+ visits over the last bit including NYE and Dine Out Vancouver and they never fail to impress!!! The food is the standard of what fusion and inspired dishes should be. The wine and sake list is always on point and their cocktails are perfect for all palates. Definitely one to note in Vancouver for all points, atmosphere to desserts.

I went for my anniversary and I do my research before going to a fine dining resto but It is just ok the food I was expecting more from the tasting menu, after the dinner I was still hungry, great Bison. Really nice service.

Brian Bulkowski

Good ambience. Amazing food and service!

Great happy hour

Sarah Najarian

Let's start with the obvious, this is not your average restaurant. The food here is for foodies and has some definite Asian influences. That being said I'm sure that you've never tried most of the food available here. Extensive wine and beverage list. I would recommend that you do the tasting menu because for the price you will leave stuffed and perhaps even left overs as we did. It's not cheap, this place has the ambiance and service to match the price that you pay though, and the food is some that you will never try anywhere else. Recommended and would go again. Came for my mom's birthday and she loved it.

This place is a gem. Went here for a drink and some appies and it is the perfect place for it. Will absolutely be going back. Their cocktails on tap are great and so are the appetizers. Had the fried chicken wings, yum! Staff are friendly and attentive as well.

Sasha Iganenko

Better than L'abbatoir ;) Tasting menu and wine pairings were fantastic. Everything was great, but the octopus stood out for us - get extra.

Patrick M.B. Chan

Overall mediocre experience. The cocktail I had was quite good, but the food was just OK overall and nothing particularly stood out to us. Plating for certain dishes looked like no effort was put into it. Especially disappointing was the service and speed we received our dishes. There was at least a 20 minute wait between each dish, and it wasn’t a particularly busy night. The table beside us, who arrived later than us and had ordered some of the same dishes, had all of their food served and finished before us. They were out the door at least another 20 minutes before we were, and my group does not eat slow either.

Kash Mcconnell

Such a great experience, felt safe and food was amazing. Decor and west coast vibe was awesome. Loved our server Justin...???

Delish food featuring locally sourced ingredients, excellent waitstaff, beautifully aesthetic seating area, and transparent & appropriate covid measures. This place has it all. Great for an appetizer and cocktail, or a full tasting menu experience! We did the tasting menu tonight and every dish was a hit. We'll definitely be back to try more!

Karl Kwong

We went to Pidgin to celebrate my partner's birthday and were wholly impressed with the prix fixe meal & sake pairing. The food was delicious (for the love of all things yummy try the fish cakes), and the sake was unlike any we had tried before. Better still, the pairing and excellent service made for a perfectly curated evening. We will be back!

Gurv

We had the tasting menu and I greatly enjoyed it. I didn't think any of the dishes were bland as per the other reviews; quite frankly I thought they were so flavorful. The servers were friendly and attentive. The sashimi was a refreshing start, followed by the tempura mushrooms. That jalapeño crême fraiche on the sous vide octopus was amazing, and the octopus itself melted in your mouth but still held a good amount of chew - I still think about it to this day. The halibut and roe in that gingery broth was warm and comforting for a fall evening, and the elk was cooked perfectly. I thought the coffee in the purée was a bit strong and preferred the reduction with the meat, but my partner enjoyed it thoroughly. The only let down for us was the carrot cake. It was light but way too dry and the yuzu didn't come through.

Dan K

Amazing food. Every dish is a delightful mixture of flavours and textures in your mouth

Jérôme Poulin

Great cocktails, nice atmosphere and great menu. The food was delicious

Fernando Oliveira

I didn’t think it was over the top which is what I was expecting! 5 of us ordered 7 dishes. All were flavourful; but only the duck and fish deserve 5 stars. Good to go once- interesting - creative drinks..

Cassandra LeBlanc

Did the tasting menu and cocktail pairing. Great service and staff. Cocktail pairing was okay but cocktails off the menu were delicious. The wagyu steak and Sable fish were the best parts of the tasting menu

Dallas Cheung

We enjoyed a delicious dinner here. My favourite was the foie gras bowl - the foie gras was rich & fatty and was contrasted with the nutty chestnut & slightly sweet unagi sauce. We shared one bowl between two people which was a good ratio for us. We also had the rib eye which was tender & juicy, but felt that the amount blue cheese miso butter overpowered the flavour of the steak. I also loved the beef chicarron which was crunchy, spicy & tangy. The desserts were quite good, the sponge with pear was average but I liked the yuzu creme brulee. The food is quite pricey but worth the visit; service is also very friendly & efficient!

Kelsey Whitman

So many choice and tastes, you won't regret paying a visit. Ask their very helpful staff to help you choose!

ANGELA ZHANG

Fantastic food, wonderful service. Truly creative, unique dishes that will share and delight the pallet.

Our initial visit in March 2013 left us wondering what the considerable buzz about this place was about- the dishes seemed gratuitously adventurous without actually working well- but we returned for Dine Out Vancouver ($38 prix fixe) in January 2014 and found that virtually every dish was a stunner, the poke and chicken wings perhaps the standouts. Shallow winelist. Friendly, professional service offered by many staff that have served at other fine dining venues. Interesting how happy the staff seem to be there- they are all in with this venture rather than just working there. Maybe the sazer quak cocktail was the one flat note- a great idea that just didn't taste great.

Ken Tsang

Location might not be the most attractive, but once inside you find yourself in a cozy space with great service. The dishes are an interesting fusion of Japanese, Korean and French. Our party split the two chef menus and were treated to a sixteen course meal. For the price, it's well worth it, sit back and enjoy as you're treated to a multitude of fun plates. The finishing dessert was fantastic, the italian like meringue was the perfect finish to a wonderful dinner. It's well worth the stop, highly recommended.

Eric Pen

Lovely place with amazing staff. I would highly recomend

Stopped by for the New Years Eve dinner at $99/person. It was well worth every penny and saying goodbye to 2019 with the amazing food and ambiance was perfect. I looooove the oyster shots, which are usually always avail, but the real star of the night was the duck dish. I’ve never had duck done quite like that and paired with the daikon cake and greens.. I could have just eaten that and left happy.. they saved the best for last. Well done!

Michael Greenwell

Excellent food (always accompanied by the story that goes with it), great service.

Always a great experience and I highly recommend the tasting menu

How is Pidgin getting these reviews. Maybe I came on a bad day. Overrated food, too expensive for what it is. everything felt heavy handed and like it was hurried out of the kitchen. Id rather spend that money on Baobei or Kissa Tanto. Ordered the following: green beans (undercooked), chicken wings (bland, sauce is pretty ordinary), shisito peppers (nothing special, get it at sardine can, way better), mushrooms (its okay), foie gras rice bowl (best things that night and it was meh), rice cakes with gochujang bolongnese (barely tastes like gochujang), and porkbelly (portions are too big, not cooked enough), bottle of wine. Total 230$. Meal was so underwhelming, it was not worth what I paid. Weird server who made the table feel very uncomfortable.

Leone J

Loved our meal there. We tried 6 or 7 dishes and all were flavorful and different. Lots of vegetarian options and they even made one meat dish vegetarian for us. Friendly service. Will definitely return.

Connie Choi

Soooo good! We had the octopus, the mushrooms, the sablefish and the foie gras bowl and they were all phenomenal! The service was outstanding too! I wonder why the restaurant doesn’t have a better overall rating on Google! ????

Sarah

Yum!!! Went there last night and had their chef's tasting menu and tried a variety of their new cocktails. Everything was beyond delicious. Well thought out, original, non pretentious and not to mention, great service and fantastic ambiance. 100% am going again.

Absolutely bad service. I was told that it was busy so they couldn't find room at all. I decided to order as take out. After paying, the hostess send 2 guys with no reservations to the bar.

Came here for my birthday. Ordered a bunch of appetizers and an entree to start. Sadly none were great. First time my partner and I paid and left a restaurant so quick. Overpriced fusion that didn’t quite hit any mark. I agree with the other review that the octopus dish was bland, like the food experience. Since atmosphere was nice, you get one star.

Randy Brown

Great atmosphere suitable and appropriate for what they serve. Ideas are creative and ingredients are fresh and well cooked, but pork belly rice bowl was just too greasy and heavy. Sauce is ordinary, kimchi is too complex to deliver its purpose. I like how chefs tried innovative combination of food from different culture, but some basic kicks need to stay original and delicious to create an impressive dish. Not the perfect balance of taste, but great place for a date night dinner.

Brice Charles

The first time I came here was years ago!! I'm so happy that it's still around as the food is great! All dishes are meant to be shared which I love, because you get more variety for your buck. My favorite dish this visit has to be the octopus. It was so soft and the white sauce that came with it paired well. We also shared the shishito peppers (which was a large portion) , the agedashi tofu (on the smaller side), and the fois gras bowl! Our server was super friendly and attentive. The ambience inside the restaurant is perfect because it's nice and dark with candles and low comfortable lighting. The only thing that shocked me was how different the area has become. Everywhere I looked there was someone homeless on the street or tweaking out high on drugs. I know Vancouver has always had a bad homelessness and drug addiction problem but its evident that its gotten worse throughout the years, which is heart breaking. The problem isn't going to go away on its own so I wish the government would focus more on programs and housing. It made me feel guilty walking through the neighborhood to have a nice meal when there are so many starving.

Fabulous! Top notch service and creative infusion style food earn this restaurant high marks. The experience is suitable for a date night or a group of around 8 just be sure to book ahead because it’s busy.

Pidgin is absolutely fabulous. I was a bit concerned about dining out in the middle of this COVID wave, but we made the reservation weeks ago and decided to stick to it. I’m so glad we did. The service was just amazing — they explained the COVID protocols immediately and are doing the best they possibly can to minimize risk. The food was fantastic and creative. We had the octopus, cauliflower, and wings off the a la carte along with dessert. Cocktail was phenomenal. I wasn’t super impressed with the famed carrot cake (it was a bit dry) but the beignets that they brought unprompted more than made up for it. The location is a bit dicey, but if you know Gastown you know the vibe. You’ll forget all about it once you’re inside and eating. Go eat here!! I’ll be back for the tasting menu next time.

Marco Bossetti

Hidden Gem for cocktails and fusion cousine. Don't miss chicken wings and dukbogi.

I really like their food. I always get fantastic customer service here. The place is well kept and the cashiers are always very welcoming. Highly recommended.

Came here while on a work trip in the middle of the week so give it a pass in terms of "buzz". Overall I thought it was good value for money. We had the set menu which worked out well. Definitely the most appetizing kale that i have ever had. Pros: Interesting dishes Very friendly staff Quick service Cons: Smallish menu Weird area (its close to down town but on the dodgier end of the street) interesting but weak drinks

Michael Chubb

did you find several hundred dollars in pigeon park? not sure what to do with it? let the nice servers (not perfect - several times unable to get their attention - and it was a monday) at pidgin take of that for you. it's all about the negroni, square ice cubes and the hibiki i've been twice and each time the veggie sides have been different scallops, raw beef and salmon all very nice - they are a must the lamb was ok the flounder was too dry - maybe ask server the portions are perfect for drinking ignore the deserts - go to mcdonalds for a sundae instead!

One of the best restaurants in Vancouver hands down. Attentive service, delicious food, excellent bartenders, great Japanese whisky and sake list! Love this little gem! Whenever I have friends or coworkers visiting from out of town, I take them here. It's an excellent Vancouver experience. It's also a great spot to go to dinner with friends or for a datenight. Had a great time here with my friend! We love the foie gras rice bowl, so creamy it’s just melt in your mouth. The chicken karaage is freshly made with drizzles of hot sauce, with thinly sliced pickled ginger, it just elevates the tastes even more. Their dishes are definitely on the smaller side, we were recommended to order two dishes from each category. Totally it costs us 150 not include tips. This is a busy restaurant so we don’t have a lot of words with our waiter, but every time they serve our food, they do explain our dishes and that’s really nice. Will recommend to a friend.

Cute little restaurant in a more controversial neighborhood in Vancouver. Don't let where it's located fool you, good eats. Pacific Northwest with Asian influence makes it so Vancouver. Dishes are meant for sharing and are definitely fresh. It seems like they source all over Canada (duck was from Quebec for instance). Executed well. I would actually not recommend the price fixe menu as you don't get anything off the menu and hence you'll have more control. Great for small groups.

Dave & Jennie

I had high hopes for this place given that the sous chef was featured on TV on MasterChef. While there are definitely moments where I found the flavor combinations inventive, none of the dishes in the tasting menu really stood out for me. It was spot prawn season and for some reason the chef decides to deep fry it with batter - while it tastes good, the texture of the spot prawn is ruined (mushy), and has none of the clean sweet taste a spot prawn should have. They could have used any cheap prawn for that dish without ruining what I consider a premium item The wine pairings featured almost exclusively BC wines and was excellently done, and service was great as well Overall, while I am glad to have dined here and was not disappointed with the pricing of the tasting menu, I will not be rushing back any time soon

Barry Mason

Our anniversary dinner here was phenomenal. We were treated like royalty and they even accommodated us bringing a baby like it was no big deal. The food was delicious, adventurous, and beautiful. Thank you, pidgin, for a perfect dinner!

O Z

This place is one that’s good for every occasion - date night, girls night, family, etc. It has a great ambiance that’s more dim but not necessarily intimate, feels modern though. The service was my favourite part of pidgin, the waiters are awesome and I was impressed. We tried the tasting menu, which was $85/person and I’ll give you some highlights. Tuna tartare was really good, fish was very fresh and the taro chip paired well. Butter poached halibut was cooked nicely - I notice it’s typically hard to cook halibut well without being a bit dry or chewy, but that wasn’t the case here. Butter sauce was quite rich, but worked well with fish and the yam gnocchi melted in your mouth. It was my first time trying elk and I think it was cooked well, just tasted like a special cow (pardon the weird description). Lastly, the carrot cake was probably my favourite dish of them all. I just felt it was a great way to end the meal, was quite refreshing with the yuzu curd and not a dense dessert. Overall, I don’t think the tasting menu was worth it, I’ve definitely been to better places. There were some good dishes, but nothing wowed me. I also felt they could’ve added some more light items like a salad or veggies to it, because by the end I was getting pretty tired of meat, it was definitely a rich tasting menu. I don’t doubt this could be a good place for their a la carte items, but wouldn’t recommend the tasting menu.

Pidgin is an AMAZING restaurant if you're into interesting japanese whisky and sake flights, incredible cocktails and out of this world food. A perfect mix of asian fusion brought together by fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. The staff are super knowledgeable, kind and professional. Great service! Come hungry, leave happy.

Christopher Mayes

We enjoyed the tasting menu with wine pairing combo, and the price was okay for what you get. Knocked down a star since it took us 3 hours to go through with the full set, which seemed a bit longer than I expect for 6 courses...

yalda mahboubi

This is a solid Gastown eatery, I really loved a few of the dishes, the duck in particular helped me to remember how much I love a well done duck. I was also pleased to find sea urchin on the menu in something other than nigiri, though looking past the incredible accompaniments the sea urchin itself was only so so. I was completely delighted with the a boar belly with rice and a light kimchi, and almost as impressed by the decadent mushrooms in soy yuzu brown butter. The desserts were well done, though I was a bit disappointed to discover that Pidgin doesn't serve hot beverages, a decision that struck me as a little too pretentious. I did appreciate the non-alcoholic beverages they had on the menu, but I found my Geisha Girl far too sweet, thought perhaps I should have expected that, and I did enjoy my dining partner's Cardero and the chilled rooibos that I ordered with dessert in lieu of hot tea. I recommend giving this restaurant a spin, I don't believe that it will become a perennial favourite for me, but it is definitely worth experiencing.

Laura Lowrie

I booked the tasting menu for Valentine's day for my better half and.... oh... sorry one second everyone, it's the waiter bringing the first dish and he'd like to describe the 15 amazing ingredients they flew in exclusively for this night and how this dish is "his favourite"... ok, back to the review, the decor is nice, I especially like the lighting... oh.... sorry one more second everyone, the waiter is back to tell us how this next dish has 24 ingredients including scallops harvested from the cold waters of northern Japan because those waters play with the genetic code of the scallops and make them sweeter... right.... and this dish is the favourite of everyone in the restaurant... ok he's gone... so, we ordered a one-eyed samurai (giggidy) and a ... oh for christ's sake... what now!?! He wants to tell us how they made the cocktails out of unfertilized chicken eggs and tequila made with cactus grown with the tears of the virgin mary... holy h***. As you can imagine, this is how the rest of the evening went on, and they couldn't even cook the duck right and I think they added lavender toothpaste to the panna cotta. 2 stars, 1 for the decor, 1 for the cocktails, 0 for the food, and -1 for the service.

This place is great after having a rough first flight and stupidly not eating. I decided to go in and it was great I had the oyster shootter karrage and rissotto and chocolate parfrait. Service was nice and relaxxing. After eating I sat at the bar and l had few drinks bartender was very nice it ended up being a very relaxing and enjoyable experience edit: I went there again such a good place really great bartenders and good prices only downside is that I don't live in Vancouver so I won't be able to go very often

Nicholas Schwagele

Finally a place in Vancouver that has both amazing service and excellent food! ever since I moved to the North I struggled with the level of service here. its a struggle to eat out as either the service is not good or the food quality is not good or I cant find something tasty and healthy to eat, I loved this place! my go to specially if I have visitors from out of town. and of-course its my favourite for date nights and celebrations. Thank you to all the staff and the AMAZING chef!!

Michael Klemm

Loved it! The service was great and the food was amazing too! Took my parents there and we all enjoyed it. Neighbourhood is a bit sketchy though.

M Z

Having been here when the place first opened, the food is wonderful with great service but it still doesn't have the wow factor that I expect from a restaurant of this calibre. They could clean up the boxes of alcohol underneath the seats, it is an eyesore.

Sion Park

Wonderful dinner experience! Tried several different dishes, all were exceptional. Service was next to none!

We came to Pidgin during the DineOut Vancouver festival. For the occasion they came up with a special six-course sharing menu and made a few options from the regular menu available for an extra charge. Some of the tasting menu dishes can be paired with truffles, foius gras, caviar, wagyu beef, which could easily quadruple the bill. We went for the bare minimum, though, and genuinely enjoyed five out of six courses. The dinner started with a banga cauda, a fondue sprinkled with tobiko and served with three buns. Great texture and taste on the sweet side of the palette. An arugula salad with corned lamb and kumquats came next, and it hasn't disappointed either. Then came the star of the evening, beautiful in its simplicity and power – mushrooms in yuzu brown butter on the bed of squash puree, served with a ramen egg. The fish course shined thanks to a sophisticated dashi risotto taste and the meat course featured braised beef cheeks, cooked to perfection. The only underwhelming part of the dining experience was the desert – it simply didn't live up to expectations. Sorry, you can't call these four slices of baked apple with a few crumbles "apple tatin". Another thing that surprised us – the restaurant wouldn't serve any hot tea or coffee to accompany the desert; cocktails only. Overall, the ambience in Pidgin was great, the noice level was more than acceptable and the tasting menu was creative. Great value for the price if you favour tasting experience over large portions.

Expensive for mediocre food. Almost all their entrees consist a small portion of protien and a big bowl of sushi rice. If you're going, I suggest getting the seafood medley, it was my personal favourite out of all the dishes. However, I would not recommend this place or come back.

m !

I really wanted to rate the restaurant a 5 star and giving it a 4 only because of value. The food is great (but pricey for what you get - in terms of flavour more than portion). The cocktails and selection of wine and sake was fantastic. The service is even better, our server was fantastic and made the experience. We tried the tasting menu at $65 a head, and with 2 drinks each...the bill quickly added up. Perhaps not doing a tasting menu could help to keep the cost down if that’s a concern.

Ommid Bavarian

Absolutely amazing food and absolutely amazing service. It is definitely on the more expensive side but well worth it for the quality of food and atmosphere.

We ordered korean rice cake( which was the most interesting tast , rice cake I ever had in my life, I am from Korea so I know about rice cake dish a lot if they remove this menu the restaurant will be much more, popular. Great Japanese fusion eatery. They have great cocktails and creative tasty dishes. I recommend the tasting menu, as we did the first time we went, as some of the dishes sounds boring like foraged mushrooms and squash puree, but was heavenly. I think the add-ons they offer with the menu were less spectacular and over priced so I would not recommend. All in all a great place to visit, especially if you are visiting and want something unique that embraces Vancouver multicultural inclusiveness.

Food is delicious really good. But this is a leave hungry kind of restaurant the kind of place you end up at a pizza joint after. We had dinner with some friends here on Saturday night. Out server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, but did forget to put in our order for one of our appetizers and mixed up the order with a couple of drinks and we were left paying more for his mix up. Overall Pidgin was overpriced for sub-par food. We were left disappointed; wouldn't go back again.

I prefer the pork belly rice bowl than the foie gras. Not saying that foie gras bowl was not good, but as a simple man I just prefer tearing apart a big slab of meat and devour it with egg and rice, at two-thirds of price.

Quite spectacular. Grabbed a last minute weeknight reservation for the chef's table and it didn't disappoint. Great little stop for drinks and dessert, but the food looked and smelled incredible too! Glancing at the full menu it looks like there is a nice balance between light and savory fair along with those richer dishes everyone loves. So nice

victor zhang

Superb service, and everything on the tasting menu was delicious.

Simon Lau

Dishes were unique, with interesting combinations of ingredients and flavors. Had the duck wings, foie gras, and pork belly. All were pretty tasty. On the somewhat negative side, service was average, and the restaurants location leaves something to be desired. Also, the menu is fairly specific and nothing super appealing to me was on there, so I probably won't be heading back anytime soon.

Had the omasake, some dishes I didn't enjoy like the oyster shot but overall it was really well executed.

the view outside is wonderful ;(

Loved the food here! A bit on the salty side though

A Doctor's Orders

I have been here multiple times. Every time the food has been amazing as well as the staff. I recommend coming with friends so you can share dishes because there are so many great options.

Alex Coombes

Excellent quality of good and the cocktails are awesome.

Kyle Brillante

I have one word. Perfect.

Joji Berri

Disappointing experience. Long waiting times between the dishes. Some interesting flavors, but no consistent food quality. Sake was only available cold and served in wine glasses.

One of my favorite restaurants!! Love fusion style for sure. This restaurant is very creative + authentic when it comes to FOOD!! Great spot to show off the foodies' taste buds. Tip: go for the TASTING MENU, you get to try a little bit of everything. You can always add dishes to it too. Drinks are creative too. They sure know what's good!!!! Bon Appetit!!

Paul Hertz

Food is ok nothing special and place is stuffed with people who came for show off not for food.

I LOVE HERE SO MUCH

Lora H

I truly want to give this a 5 star but strictly due to the price/value of the restaurant I can't. The set 8 course menu was $65 per person and we just thought that was too high for what you got. Dont let the high number of 8 fool you, a little bowl of nuts isn't really a course. The duck leg was fantastic but you really wanted more of that great hoisin flavour to be there. The salmon was great, but not over the moon amazing. I do recommend this restaurant, especially for the exceptional service and knowledge of the staff. The biggest standout has to be the service. Thank you for a wonderful night and spectacular sake.

Love going here. Delicious food and great staff!

Leanne Liu

Cocktails are great. Bartenders are usually very friendly but why are you still requiring people wear masks. Mask mandate is over. Disappointing.

Melauria Li

This is the type of restaurant you will only come once, but the one time experience is enjoyable. Decent food, nice drinks and very good service. Good for weekend hangout or dating.

Max Bloomberg

My friends and I weren't impressed with their foods or drinks. It wasn't what we hoped for. Decent place to hang out, it get packed fast though so be prepared.

Derek Miura

Kelly M

Great Asian fusion! Some dishes are a miss though, but there are many great ones to experience!

I very much loved their dishes and service, great location nearby to my house. The employees are always friendly. Will come back again.

Holy delicious! Cool atmosphere • Great service. Pork belly and rice was so tasty--I recommend. I even had the owner specially cut it up and mix it for me so that I could enjoy the full flavors and textures together????.

Danny Lieu

An excellent meal. Service was on point. Food was interesting but delicious and approachable. Interesting combinations executed well. Definitely worth a visit.

Nice atmosphere for going on a date! Very intimate with candlelight and proper social distancing. Be sure to order at least 3 dishes per person as each dish is quite small. Overall, great service and food presentation! However, the food in general lacked coherence in taste and here is my opinion: The octopus dish was quite bland and quite frankly tasted like a fish sausage due to it being lightly smoked. The salmon was lightly cooked which made it less tender than if it were served as sashimi. The sauce that came with the salmon had sesame leaf, which is amazing on its own (for Korean BBQ lovers) but in the way they mixed the flavours, had a scent like the Aesop hand soap that they had in the washroom. The dessert is is amazing though. We would definitely be back for the carrot cake!

Very good food, try the amazing pork belly

Interesting spins on traditional small plates done very well plus great craft cocktails.

Fantastic restaurant with excellent and superior cocktails. The menu is set up for a sharing experience. Their sake list is like a wine list with a diverse selection, best to ask the waiter for some suggestions as the background of each choice is interesting to say the least. Overall a fabulous restaurant with superior service and cocktails.

Excellent meal in an inviting setting. Staff were welcoming, informative, and accommodating. The suggestions they made for food and drinks were spot on. Not to be missed are the chicken wings, oyster shooter, sweetbreads, and blended sazerac. Sit back, enjoy the low light and deep booths, and order away. Make sure you come hungry!

Crackle Creme

Not bad! Definitely don't miss the braised beef! Transcendent!

Service from the entire staff was perfect- friendly but not intrusive. Our server was great at recommendations. We were impressed that the servers knew the menu so well and could describe every dish thoroughly. We had the chefs tasting menu. Each dish was very well executed. Even if there was an ingredient that one of us didn’t personally enjoy we still realized how high the level of craftsmanship in the kitchen is. Thank you chefs for your incredible work. We highly recommend Pidgin and will return if we are ever in Vancouver.

W Lyons

Service was excellent, food not so much. We ordered the 8 course meal and was disappointed by most of them. The duck leg was super dry - even the meat near the bone. The fish had a nice texture but very little taste. The peach on the dessert didn't really taste good with the mousse. However, the waiters were very good, they made sure to take note of allergies and prepare separate dishes which was very considerate.

Renee Andrews

10/5 stars! uniquely artful and luxury feel, fun and personable waiters. we got multiple plates to share and each were amazingly delicious, so many flavors and combinations of flavors well balanced and memorable! an obvious highlight of our trip to vancouver. looking forward to coming again.

Dawn Myers

A nice high class full menu place, where the staff is friendly and the chefs obviously have talent. My SO and I came during the Vancouver eatery festival, which made the prices a little bit cheaper, but due to the events popularity, the food seemed to suffer due to it being larger produced festival fare. The mushrooms were to die for! Would definitely love to try the regular fare.

B V

Amazing food and the Old Fashions go down easy.

Minseo K

Great place, great food

Aman Darred

Went here last week with a couple of friends and the staff were so awesome! Two of us were vegan and they modified dishes for us, thank you to chef Kim! Everything tasted amazing!!

braeden pirie

First time visit and worth the experience. The owner was great. Made us felt at home. Decided to go all out. Had the seven course meal with paring. Will be back soon.

James Lutes

Each dish we tried was amazing and the service was great.

Carl Cheung

Exception food and more importantly exceptional staff. Try the tasting menu and let your server guide you through the seasonal experience. With local food and seasonal variety its a wonderful spot to enjoy year round.

Stephen Kay

Good food, but it definitely did not live up to the hype or the website's impression. The 2 dishes that are worth trying are the cultivated mushrooms and the daily pickles. The chicken karaage was nothing special, and the Korean rice cake was a little underwhelming. Thankfully the prices were pretty reasonable. Service was exceptional. Would not return.

annie barnett

Awesome cocktails and tasty food in a very cool setting. Nice decor and a variety of seating options with a good bar and sit down dining. Really recommend the one eyed samurai cocktail, oyster shot, pork belly and sous vide octopus ????

Pascal lort

Good cocktails and food.

mitch balducci

Amazing food, great atmosphere and service. The Korean Rice Cake, Oyster Shots and Gochujung sauce chicken wings were stand outs! If you haven’t been in a while they still have all your favorite dishes along with some new things to try.

Greg Gray

The food was really good. the area around doesn't look very safe tho.

Jasjinder Dhesi

BRILLIANT. Absolutley exceptional tasting menu. Knowledgeable and friendly. I never ever felt out of place and all staff are happy to talk to you. Our servers were amazing. Would reccomend to anyone. The dishes were brilliant.

Wesley Young is great chef doing very tasty food ! Must go.
