We got the 5 course tasting set: Yaletown and Ocean Blue ($75 and and $90). Highly recommend for a nice experience if you enjoy sushi, high quality fish and instagrammable dishes. The waiters were very nice and explained each dish to us as they served it. Great quality food and presentation.

Minami has a good reputation for eats in the Yaletown area, and they’ve definitely earned it. Had dinner here and the waiter, Aidan, was very professional and really elevated the experience. We ordered the carpaccio appetizer, and then the duck and sablefish entrees. The carpaccio was beautifully presented and full of flavour without being too rich. The duck and sablefish were presented very well as well, and the flavours were complex and satisfying. Great go to place for dinner if youre in the area!

If this place is not on your list of places to visit, you will be missing out! Everything from the presentation to the freshness of the individual ingredient was impeccable. We started with the Brussel sprouts chips which was heavenly! We also had the sashimi plate and sushi plate to try a little bit of everything - this then inspired us to double down on our favourites. As for dessert, I’ve never tried something so delicious ???? the Corn mousse is to die for!! I wanted to order another plate right then and there (regretting to not have while typing this review lol). All this to say, you MUST visit this restaurant!

Do yourself a favor and get the Oshi Sampler! The prices and offerings are almost identical to their sister restaurant Miku, but you are actually able to sit down here for lunch!

Absolutely. Phenomal. Experience. Super expensive but definitely worth it for a big experience. Between my friends and I, we got the sashimi platter that had a great variety of items, as well as the Minami signature selection (apparently the red wave was great). Ask for off-menu items too! Our server, Aiden, told us about it and we couldn't be happier! Tried the Oni (which was great, but I think mine had too much wasabi), and the Ootoro (fattest part of a blue-fin tuna), and an A5 Wagyu piece as well. Great food overall. We also got dessert which was also fantastic! Pictured is the Minami signature selection

Got the Blue Ocean Shokai menu which had 5 courses. It was great, very satisfied with my experience here. Nice sashimi, sushi selection. Fish and pork belly main was good too (best part was the fish).

Awesome sushi place in the heart of Yaletown Vancouver, must try if you like sushi. We ordered the aburi sampler, aburi butternut squash, and spicy sesame edamame. The spicy edamame had a great explosion of flavors in the mouth while the sushi was subtly delicious. Definitely worth a stop by if you are anywhere close to Vancouver.

Great spot for any celebration. We got the holiday set menu which was $98 /per person consisting of 5 course and it was phenomenal. The first course was sashimi, my goodness was it fresh. The spot prawn head was perfectly deep fried and the fish was very fresh. Second course was the beef carpaccio with a raw egg yolk and that was the star of the show. I did think the cheese was odd for me but the egg made up for it. Third course was the chefs pick of nigiri and I really wish I could’ve eaten it all over again because the flavours each piece had were great. My favourite was the ebi aburi, definitely save that for last ;) Fourth course was the main dish which was a surf and turf. It looks small but plated so beautifully and honestly by this point we were so stuffed that it was a perfect amount. Lastly the dessert. Yuzu earl grey gingerbread with yuzu sorbet. It was so delicious and not too sweet that it was the perfect end. Our server was amazing and so informative. The restaurant was clean, friendly and up to Covid standards. I definitely would recommend going as I will definitely be back.

Amazing food, great ambience and great suggestions for wine pairings by our server. Aburi is great but the udon at dinner menu was a revelation! Never have I tasted a perfect combination of cheese with Asian style udon. You have to get the ebi fritters, they’re the best! The raspberry dessert feature is amazing too. The tuna tartare that we ordered paled in comparison to these.

Always a solid place for dinner in Yaletown! Easily made a reservation for two for dinner and requested a spot on their patio. Their patio is nice and quaint in the back. The servers were attentive and we ordered our food promptly. We enjoyed the ebi fritters, the salmon aburi oshi sushi, the ebi aburi oshi sushi, and the tofu salad. Their Aburi Oshi sushi is an absolute go-to, and it’s undeniably delicious. Also opted for the green tea opera for dessert. It’s almost too pretty to eat!

Had our team lunch here with my bosses and everything was so delicious. The quality was there for the price. Some of the best sushi you'll ever taste in Vancouver. I got ebi fritters, sushi premium lunch, green tea opera cake. The salmon oishi is my favourite!

Service was stretched a little thin. Meal itself was very good. Not as generous with the salmon on the aburi as I remember. Overall still a favorite sushi spot among many options in Vancouver.

Great food and drinks. Only thing to improve is the kitchen preparation time. Dessert took more than 30 minutes to arrive. Also, octopus was a little bit overcooked.

Second time here and Minami staff continue to impress with their hospitality and presentation. Our large group went with the pre-fixe dinner and each course was on point. Their service is tough to rival in confidence and courteousness - from the hostesses handling vax passport screens and umbrella check-ins (!), to the multitude of servers handling our tables' plate and beverage turnover with skillful sensibility, and the chefs' artful expressions portrayed on each plate. A five-star Yaletown dine out experience.

Patrick John

I shared the tuna tartare with a friend which was OK. The sushi platter was great! I can't justify the price but nice ambiance and food presentation.

Minami is a well-loved Japanese restaurant with many good reviews. Is located in the well known area of yaletown and it's very popular with tourists (as both restaurants here are). We came here for a dine out $59 dollar menu and would be interested to come back for regular service.. Maybe From the sample of Auburi, sushi roll, and Nigiri I can conclude that the quality is good but the taste is okay. There are many other places to get fresh and delicious sushi, so I don't really see myself coming back to get their sushi as it is somewhat uninspiring, not unique, and not worth the prices. They subsituted one of the dine out items (which they can) but didn't tell us at the restaurant. Their main dish was a steak which was overcooked on my friend's dish, parts of the greens were wilted, tasted old and yucky, and was tough to breakdown / chew.. I eat a lot of Asian greens prepared the same way so I know how it should taste. Also since this was their main dish I thought it was a little stingy of them to give just a dollop of mashed potatoes. /: Their dessert was good and had good presentation. The flavors were mostly matcha.

Stopped by this restaurant the other night with my wife. The food was delicious, the service was on point, and overall, the experience was great. Although not overly traditional in some ways, the menu is appealing and everyone will find something to enjoy. Highly recommended!

Fantastic dining experience enhanced with great service. Delicious Aburi style sushi. Highly recommend coming here to try at least once.

Arham Newaz

The customer service was amazing. However personally the food was a little lacking in flavor( especially for the price) and just overall lacking in portion size. I purchased the 5 course meal, and still left the restaurant a bit hungry. I would recommend sticking to the rolls for overall value and taste economy.

The food was delicious! I had no complaints whatsoever. It is on the pricey side but it was well worth it. We went at 2pm which was perfect because we were able to enjoy the lunch menu and then go for more food during Happy Hour at 3pm! Sapporo was only $4 and a glass of smooth sake was $6! We tried the Minami Premium Zen and the Sashimi Lunch!

Kevin Ao

Great spot for tasty sushi. Not traditional type of sushi but still very flavorful. I got the lunch premium zen and it was a ton of food with soup, salad, 3 seasonal dishes, assorted sushi, and dessert. Fish was fresh and rice made correctly. The service was friendly and attentive. I recommend coming for your contemporary style sushi.

After some indecision, we finally settled on Minami in Yaletown for my daughter’s 31st birthday. We had not been there or it’s sister restaurant Miku since the start of the pandemic, so another visit was in order. We shared a number of zensai before indulging on our individual entrees. The “shining star” is still the Aburi Oshi Sushi, nicely flame-torched morsels of lusciousness. The mackerel, ebi and salmon Aburi were all sinfully addictive leaving us wanting more with every bite. The Spicy Sesame Edamame tossed in chilli garlic tamari soy and crispy shallots was elevated to the next level. The Ebi Fritters, with a herb-beer batter, were piping hot with a nice, brittle shell and perfectly paired with the acidity of an Asian slaw. The Sashimi Lunch that included a small poke was incredibly fresh and artfully presented; it was almost too visually stunning to eat. The Aburi Chirashi Tart with layers of spicy tuna, avocado, sockeye salmon, flame seared and topped with prawn, scallop, maguro, tobiko and ikura was a culinary masterpiece. Prices are at the higher end of scale but well worth every cent!

My wife and I were in Vancouver on vacation and decided to go to Minami yesterday for our anniversary. Reserved a place on the patio. The Blue Ocean Shokai set menu was simply incredible. The sashimi and sushi were the best I've had outside of Japan. I'm quite picky about sushi and they were *chefs kisses* The carpaccio with 63° egg was also ????. I need to give major credit to our waiter Hayden (Aiden? Heyden?) who went above and beyond to make sure our evening was perfect. The manager on hand was also very attentive and nice, as the patio was not free at the time I reserved. He communicated with us and arranged for us to start in the dining room and move to the patio afterwards. A memorable evening in what must surely be, one of Vancouver's best establishments. Thank you Minami! We will be back when we return to town and we'll send our friends.

Absolutely delicious! Best aburi sushi I’ve ever had. Everything in the dine out lunch set ($45) was wonderful, too. Tables well-spaced apart. Personal touches on birthday people’s dessert plates.

Came here for the first time with friends visiting from out of town. I ordered two sushi rolls and one of them came out on its own plate but the other roll came out on a plate together with the sushi roll that my friend ordered. We weren't sure which sushi roll was which and the server wasn't very clear on what sushi roll was each one so my friend ate the sushi roll that I ordered and I ate the one she ordered. The sushi rolls are quite pricey for what you get and especially when you can get similar rolls at other sushi restaurants for a lot less.

Harris Waqar

Absolutely amazing sushi! I got their lunch special which had many different components, all explained by the chef. Great way to try different options at a reasonable price. Caution that the street parking was packed when I went so I had to park much further away. The service was amazing, we ordered tea and spent quite some time there catching up, and we had a server stopping by to top off and make sure we had everything. Will definitely return on my next trip to Vancouver.

Food taste fresh and I liked that they explain about the food so I know what I am eating and what to order again if I liked it.

Had the Blue Ocean tasting menu - most of the courses were amazing - the beef carpaccio appetizer was a bit heavy with the cheese, which masked the beef flavour. The octopus in the Yaletown tasting menu was a MUCH better appetizer my opinion. The service here is top notch and should be emulated by all restaurants. For our dinner, our server made an honest mistake and told us the main course was a surf and turf consisting of lobster and steak, but the course’s surf and turf is actually sableye and pork belly. The restaurant was very kind to offer us the steak and lobster as a replacement with no extra cost, and provided us with edamame while it was being freshly made. The steak and lobster was also amazing, one of the best lobsters I’ve ever had.

The 4 of us came here for the Dineout Vancouver - 3 course dinner. There’s just one menu selection for either lunch or dinner so if you’re not a meat eater, you’ll need to select something else on the menu. The special was a screaming good deal and was delish! You started off 8 pieces of assorted sushi which looked like pieces of art. The entree was pieces of AAA sirloin cooked to perfection unless you like your meat cooked a little longer. They were a bit skimpy on the veggies - 1 piece of sliced carrot and 2 pieces of broccolini with a smudge of mashed potato. For dessert, we had the matcha sesame mousse which was heavenly. Tip: if you want to take advantage of the Dineout Vancouver lunch special, they offer the special price for either dine in or takeout. We had an early seating which we were able to order from the Happy Hour menu (3 to 5 pm). There’s a great selection of appies, Aburi Osho sushi, drinks, & desserts. We tried the champagne roll (Hokkaido scallops and sockeye salmon roll), Brussel sprouts chips, Ebi fritters. All delish! Parking in Yaletown can be a challenge but this place was worth going to. It’s one of the high end restaurants for sushi.

Amazingly delicious food, and great service. That being said, it's hard to beat the ambiance of their sister resturant Miku. Basically if you want the same delicious food as Miku but don't mind a less fancy ambiance and waterfront views this is your place! One thing Minami has over Miku however, is the small shop beside it. They sell their sauces, small takeaway, desserts and alcohol. Really cool shop to stop by after your dinner!

Great food and service. My favourite roll here would be the Champagne Roll, Salmon oshi and Ebi oshi. Came back again to try the $90 course menu and it was also really good!

This is not your typical Japanese, commercial style restaurant. The price is above average but you get premium taste. For example Miso soup is $4. However, once you taste it it has really good ingredients and tastes delicious! To get the most value get the set meals. Pictured here is the Minami Premium Zen. 3 course meal, takes out all the guessing for you. Starter soup salad and soft pork and fish was already a meal on it own! Next sushi main meal- to be honest I don’t recall the all the description the server said but, I just had one bite, and wow great taste! From the sushi rice to the soft tuna that melts in your mouth! Lastly dessert- creamy and delicious macha ice cream was already excellent. You get a bonus cake too- overall this place has great food and atmosphere. I don’t recommend eating weekly though as it will break the bank, but for those “date” nights with your partner definitely worth the visit and provides long lasting conversations.

Amazing Japanese restaurant! Everything was VERY fresh and well presented. I will recommend trying the Ebi Fritters, the champagne roll and the Ribeye Steak (so tender!!). The Kaisen Soba Peperoncino was good but I suggest trying something else!

Highly recommend the Shokai set menu. We had the 5-course option, which was a good portion for us; however, if you are really hungry or a big eater, I would go with the 7-course option. Every course was bright and fresh, with our favorites being the oshi sushi sampler and the green tea opera cake, which was to die for. I don't even particularly like green tea desserts and I thought it was fantastic. The only thing I would change from my visit would be to choose the sablefish entree. I got the steak while my husband got the sablefish, and although mine was more visually appealing, the flavour profile of the sablefish dish was better overall. Aside from a few hiccups like a missing scallop from the entree (which came to the table separately, soon after), the service was good and we would return.

We did their set menu as it was our first time there. The food was decent sashimi was fresh and everything was good. The service was good as well our waitress was kind and attentive. But the reason for the 3 stars, I was disappointed with the dinning experience. For how much they charge and what it is this place seemed more like a casual neighborhood restaurant rather than a more upscale place. People with hoodies and sweat pants, and then another table with people who dressed up. It’s a mix. I thought they’d have a dress code or something but very casual and chill. Even some of the people working there seemed to be wearing casual street clothes. In the end it felt like an overpriced typical sushi joint then an upscale restaurant.

Mei Yuan

Very cool, fun restaurant with good ambiance. We ate outdoors so it was quieter, but still nicely decorated and the waiter was kind enough to bring a heater to me when I was chilly. The food was very good! The brussel sprouts were a tad salty for my taste, but still tasty. We also had fried chicken, which reminded me of fish and chips but just with chicken. The sushi was delicious and I love that they offer half orders. The cocktails were good too! Excellent service.

Very positive experience! It's our tradition to go to Miami every year for our anniversary and we made dinner reservations for our 5 year anniversary. We were seated very quickly. We ordered the Holiday Shokai and sake flight and everything was delicious. Their sashimi was very fresh, sushi was flavourful, and I was very impressed with the way they prepared the sablefish with the use of dashi. And they added such a nice personal touch for our dessert for our anniversary. ❤️ Would come back again and highly recommend.
