The food looked fantastic, but sometimes bizarre. A big conceptualisation problem in the kitchen. The amuse bouche was just plain bad. Some beautiful sashimi-grade tuna that was completely covered up with other flavours like strawberries, ham powder (what? It just tasted like salt), raddichio, a green sauce, some white foam, and puffed rice (for texture). Also it was massive for an amuse. The first course also had these terrible mixtures. The same beautiful tuna that was supposed to be a ceviche, except there was no acid on the fish itself. It was sitting in a puddle of something like lemon curd; sweet and thick. Also, the same puffed rice from before. The best part of the dish was the slices of raw radish, which is tragic because the ingredients are so good. The mains were better, but still hit some roadblocks with adding weird flavours and textures (corn that came with the duck had a lot of acid added to it so it tasted like it had gone off). The meat was cooked perfectly. Dessert was delicious. We guessed it would because of how they tried to add sweet things to all the other dishes. The only complaint is that for a restaurant like this I expected something less lazy than mousse in a cup. Both desserts were mousse in a cup, just different flavours.
The service at Hawksworth is incredible! Really leading the hospitality industry in Vancouver - menu is well done and changes regularly, presentation is exceptional. Would recommend the scallops and pork belly for a main but I've also just grazed on small plates at Hawksworth and been happy. The focaccia is perfection!!
Great service and okay food. There are way better places to enjoy for what you would spend on the check here. Atmosphere and service 5 * Food a 3 *
Quite possibly the best restaurant in Vancouver. Staff know you by name, they care about your special needs (like a favorite table) and the chef specials are amazing!
Went here for lunch. First we sat at the bar which had an infestation of fruit flies near the citrus fruits. The bartender there then was using a citrus peeler and the blade popped out and flew couple meters away from the bar. Totally unprofessional and I wasn't expecting this to be happening at a place this calibre. We later moved to the dining area and the food and service was inpeccacble. Our server was extremely attentive and friendly.
absolut a 5 start restaurant. Perfect for date nights. Great cocktail and seasonal menu. great ambience and great service. never disappointed.
Overpriced lamb, so full of fat, to this day I get nausea just thinking about it! I only didn't return it, because it was my husband's 75th birthday and I didn't want to ruin it for him!!!!! This cook shouldn't be allowed into a kitchen!!
The atmosphere is that of the high class, very beautiful, elegant, and high class. 2 of us had the benny, myself the salmon benny, it was perfection on the plate but for us it was the price that got us, 90 dollars for a breakfast for 2 was unbelievable. Even tho the experience was good, food was good, it was still lacking for them to have such high prices
Service was spot on! Was surprised there for my birthday! Was told it was one of the best restaurants to go to! The food presentation was great and the flavours stand out but definitely not for everyone's taste buds. I would recommend as a place to try as a fine dining experience though!
Burger to go was awful tonight. Buns were stale and dry, like a day or two old, and the bacon was funny tasting and chewy, as if it was old too. The patty didn't feel fresh either, no juice. Fries were cold and soggy. It all ended up in the trash. You ruined our night. :( We've dined at Hawksworth many times before covid, this was a take out and supposed to be fun, but they served us such horrible food. It was so bad that I will not risk ordering from them again. Super disappointed and dissatisfied.
I took the girlfriend here for 5 year anniversary and she was extremely impressed with my choice. The service is absolutely impeccable. The food is delicious and most of all the memory that we have here will stay with us forever. We highly recommend trying this place out. It is a little bit of an investment but definitely worth it.
Very good food and stunning presentation. Also their cocktails are absolutely on point- I’d go even just to sit at the bar (which is also beautiful of course.) Pricey but worth it!!
My boyfriend and I went for the New Years Eve Chef's special. We've been once before for a dinner service and had such a wonderful time, we thought it was the perfect way to ring in the New Year - and we were right. The wait staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, and the Sommeliers had paired the wines perfectly with the dinner. I have multiple allergies and though we had let them know ahead of time, the kitchen was thoroughly prepared to offer me separate plates when needed, which made it more enjoyable, since I didn't need to worry about what I was eating. The food was incredible - every course had it's own unique flavours and textures, and the plating itself was gorgeous and highlighted the different dishes perfectly. We will most definitely be back!
Great restaurant to go for dinner or date night. The hazy beer is refreshing and has a hint of citrus flavour. …
I was impressed by the quality of dining experience offered here, it was well above my expectations for fine dining in Vancouver. We weren't able to make reservations so we took a table in the lounge, where the full menu is available, and I am very glad that it was. We started with mortadella salad and glazed pork belly, I was delighted by the balance of each of these dishes, in particular the heavy pork belly was offset by fresh bites of thai basil and crunchy scallops, giving each bite a much lighter tone while retaining the decadent savour of the pork belly. We then embarked on an journey through the more decadent winter tasting menu, a four course affair that included a yellowfin tartar, lobster gnocchi, goose, and a chocolate dessert. I was pleased by all of the dishes, but particularly delighted by the goose, which was perfectly well done with an amazing texture. This restaurant is one of the highlights of fine dining in Vancouver, I look forward to returning here in the future.
Fantastic meal, top notch service and welcoming atmosphere
A great experience! We went here for an anniversary and it didn’t disappoint. Service was impeccable and they had a Sommelier suggest a red wine to complement my meal. Reviews and dishes below :)
Horrible experience. Made a reservation for 7:30, hostess was not welcoming and gave my guests and I attitude. Asked if we wanted to sit at the lounge as the table was being set up. We agreed only to not be seated at the lounge?? She then proceeded to direct us to sit in the lobby as our table was almost ready. We did not get seated till 8:10. I will never come here again. Also I noticed my group was treated differently because we had people of colour in our group. Front desk staff was totally disrespectful and racist. Avoid this place at all costs.
We heard great things about this restaurant but we were a bit disappointed. The staff and service was great and the place has a great atmosphere but we thought the menu and food was a bit underwhelming.
Loved lamb loin! It was so tender and perfectly cooked! Scallops were delicious too.
Their sommelier is amazing in wine pairing.
Dinner
Delicious food at Hawksworth! The duck salad did not disappoint, and the buffalo cauliflower bites were jam-packed with flavour. The service was great - our waiter was helpful and they had a sommelier on hand who helped us choose our bottle. Overall a classy fine-dining restaurant with great food, perfect for date night!
Good food and service. The crispy duck salad starter was my favourite part of the meal. The olive shared plate was enjoyable and beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly. I felt some of the sides with my main could have been enhanced some but all in all it earned five stars.
Incredibly slow service. Took over an hour for the food to come after ordering. They took a $275 deposit for our group of 8 for a brunch reservation which seems unnecessary when they also call you 3 times to confirm your reservation before you arrive. When we arrived the restaurant was not even half full. The food was mediocre at best. Vancouver has alot of better options than this for brunch.
Beautiful place. Enjoyed the time spent here. The food was amazing.
Incredible meal, still one of the best in Vancouver. Sablefish is to die for, and a good collection of BC wines.
The restaurant is located in the lowest floor of the hotel, and it is quite high end and expensive. The service was great throughout all dinner. Initially they placed us very close to a heater, which was too hot. After talking to our waiter, they agreed to give us a new table after 15 mins, which we spent on the bar drinking cocktails (very tasty, to be honest). The good was fine, but honestly, por the price we paid I feel it should be improved.
It was a crazy rainy day and we were walking around and decided we wanted to check out Hawksworth after seeing people dining in the window. It's a fancy place with white marble everywhere. I ordered the "Chicken Sandwich" and my female companion ordered the "Lobster Salad". I was surprised that the 'sandwich' was actually served on a burger bun and was quite huge. But it was good! The lobster salad was also apparently delicious but only had 7 small pieces of lobster in it. We enjoyed the service, but the waiter gave ME a hot towel and not my companion which I thought wasn't very fair, so I gave it to her instead. The coffee was also delicious. Overall, we would dine there again even though a bit pricey, the service does make up for it.
The food and cocktails were amazing. The service got off to a rocky start, but the staff quickly realized this and stepped up to the plate. Jenna came by our table to check in and ensured the rest of our service was great as we expected. She made us feel right at home, which made the rest of our dinner experience fantastic!
The food was amazing the service was amazing. Could not ask for a better date night! This place is expensive but well worth the price.
Great ambiance and service. Food was very nicely prepared but slightly light on flavor, especially the Foie gras and Duck breast. Would definitely return
One of the top restaurant in Vancouver. The quality of the food is higher than other famous restaurants in Vancity. Thumbs up!
We went to Hawksworth for our anniversary dinner yesterday. Everything from food to ambience to service was impeccable! Our server was extremely attentive and took the time to explain each dish. We ordered KFC and baby back ribs as appetisers. Both of which were delicious. We ordered 4 cocktails - deuces, lazy Suzan, four lake fizz, wa-hawk-ah! - all of which were great, though Four lake fizz seemed a little less in quantity. For mains, we had duck breast, which was cooked to divine perfection! For dessert, we had brown sugar pavlova, which felt like a party of amazing flavours in the mouth!
My wife's birthday dinner at Hawksworth was a disaster. There was a cockroach at our table while we were having our main course meals. We told the servicers about the cockroach. The male servicer tried to catch the cockroach but with no successes. We were later changed to another table. My wife lost the apetite after seeing the cockroach and was upset because the dinner was ruined and we did not even received an apolopy. At the time when we were paying the bill, the restaurant reduced our cost by $17, the cost of a starter meal. Yet, the conversation of the servicer Angela and her bad atitute appeared to accuse us bringing the cockroach as she kept saying they found no cockroach. We did not accept the cost reduction as this was not our intent and we found it an insult. We were very upset because we were looking for a memorable moment yet we had a cockroach at our dinner table, received no apology and ultimately were accused of bringing the cockroach. By the way, the food is poor and not presentable, not worthwhile for the cost of the food.
We went here for a testing menu, and it was amazing I love all of the foods especially appetizer. We found the sticker on the tomato and asked us if we want to get the new dish? But I also work in this industry so I don’t wanna make the big deal of it because I understand and she really handles it nicely so we tell her that it’s okay. Then she gave us 2 plated desserts for that because we didn’t make a scene LOL thank you!!! ????
Dine in
Unbelievable dining experience that was well worth the elevated $$$. Ultracool decor, unpretentious and extremely attentive staff. Unparalleled service. Best dessert I've ever had in my life.
Lots of staff to ensure you're well taken care of, but quite noisy. Roasted meats were incredible. (Lamb and pork belly from Spring Journey Menu.)
We won't be going back. It's not that something went badly or anything. But for the price, I'm going we can find much, much better than this. Food had some creativity (puffed beef tendons and dehydrated tomato skins come to mind). And the ingredients were fresh. Fish seemed of very high quality (had the halibut and tuna tataki). But overall, flavours were disappointing. Separately maybe each ingredient was good. But there was no flavour that made us go "wow" at any point. It felt bland. From the beet salad to the halibut to the tuna tataki. The beef carpaccio was perhaps the best dish. Service also had a lot of room for improvement for a high end restaurant. We must have dealt with 3-4 people at the table alone. They were there way too often. And didn't feel warm, welcoming, or just happy to be there with maybe one exception. They all made sure to congratulate us for our wedding anniversary. But at no point did it feel genuine. Just forced. It came to a point where, I was dreading the next time someone would come to our table. Last but not least the atmosphere wasn't great. Loud, which can be okay. But also obnoxious if that makes sense. Not at all romantic. So, very very mediocre for the class and price point.
My wife and I had the new Summer tasting menu with the wine pairings. Very nice setting. Good service--on the casual side for a high end restaurant. But then again, this is Vancouver--where else would you see diners wearing white …
Service was great. Food was good but I was expecting more as I really enjoyed my meal at Nightingale.
Great experience at Hawksworth , service was great , the food was delicious , I had the lamb perfectly cooked to my liking, , it was a very pleasant time with my wife & friends.
A bit disappointed: when my friend invited me to dinner at the best Vancouver restaurant, the expectations were very high. The octopus was cold and pure cummin, the beef a bit over cooked for a medium, and the coffee wasn't fresh... But the Manhattan drink was the best of the night! Haven't had better!
Delicious food, everything we tried was outstanding. But the service we received, especially by our server Eric, was somehow even better than the food! I was truly impressed. Thank you for being so outstanding!
I was told not to believe the hype but they were wrong. One of the best meals I've ever had in Vancouver. Worth every penny.
Horrible service and rude/racist staff working there!! I will NOT be returning to this restaurant. What was supposed to be an evening of fine dining was canceled because of one of the hostess who refused to serve me and my partner... there were other couples there and given walk-in spots, while we had to wait for 40 minutes before they could serve us... this happened despite being on the reservation list. We were following social distancing and covid protocols too... however, we were the only people of colour there at the moment... I can only assume that had factored into the poor service. We ended canceling and eating elsewhere. I recommend others to do the same. It also doesn't help when I heard other staff making casual jokes about the BLM movement.
Went here for a staff dinner and was incredibly impressed. Everyone on staff was very 'on it' and incredibly knowledgeable. The decorum was also very elegant. One of the few restaurants I've been to that features a wine team, whose job is to solely to recommend and serve you wine. Their ability to take such great care of a large team of people truly surpassed my expectations. The beef carpaccio and squid were some of my favourites! I will keep the side lounge in mind as well in case I want a more relaxed area with the same quality service and food :)
Sheer Perfection! My husband and I come to Hawksworth every time we celebrate a special occasion because it is perfection. The atmosphere, food (tasting menu is our favourite), and almost magical wine pairings! We are treated like royalty, from the time we are seated until we leave. Hawksworth is one of our all time favourite restaurants- and we travel a lot. I would recommend it to anyone, and not just for special occasions.
We were very happy with service and food. Delicious and beautifully plated.
Superb service, atmosphere, food presentation and flavors as you would expect from this fine dining establishment.
We saw a few posts saying this was one of the better burgers in town, so went to try them out. They do a good job and have a lot of potential, felt like the horseradish aioli could have been a bit stronger on the wagyu burger. A little disappointed though as the buns were very dry. Either the buns were stale or they may want to look for a better option.
Bartending is top notch. So much attention to detail and tradition. Coordination of food service was impressive. Great team. Food was tremendous from presentation to flavor to taste
Their three course weekday lunch menu was good. I especially liked the dessert. The only downside was that it was quite busy and the food was served very slow.
This place was rated as one of the top restaurants in 2020 but I would disagree. I thought that this was average and that it is overpriced. Only pro would be how beautiful the meal looks.
I haven't eaten everywhere, but I'm pretty sure this is the best restaurant in Vancouver. I've never had a bad meal here, or even a bad dish for that matter.
Food was good but we've had better one just couple blocks away, recommended cocktail wasn't impressive, couple dishes out of tasting menu obviously over-seasoning. Probably just me unlucky that day but I find it difficult to recommend this place to friends.
Jenna was super attentive and engaging. Definitely would return when she's there!
Service - Absolutely fantastic! Probably the best server that I have encountered so far. Food - Very good. I have always been skeptical about their food quality as I have not heard very good reviews about it, but I'm glad I got to try them. We ordered two entrees 1) duck breast with foie gras add-on ($61) - awesome combination, meat was cooked perfectly and foie gras added an extra hint of fragrant, buttery taste 2) aged beef sirloin ($58) - the steak itself was only okay but when combined with the dry cow fat and red wine bone marrow sauce, the flavor profile was escalated. Cocktail - Very good. They are quite well-known for good cocktails, so we tried 1) Hawksworth pink gin - a bit light for my taste, more suitable for those who doesn't like strong alcohol taste 2) can't remember the name but it was smokey, gingery and delicious. If you want to try their cocktails, go to the bar area during cocktail hour, it's so much cheaper ($7 vs $16)!
High anticipation, but a really bad experience. Felt we wasted our time and money. We arrived at 8:45pm. We were told to order right away as the kitchen will close at 9pm. Ordered the seafood appetizer for two, which was tiny in size and nothing special. Then our mains took over 1 hour to come. We didn't get our mains until 10pm. My dish, the goat cheese tortellini tasted horrible. Cheese taste was off. Other dish of chicken was mediocre, no taste. Not usually picky, but we left feeling hungry, had mediocre food and we paid over $150.00. Never repeat. Sadly the same experience happened last year when I came here with a group, but I thought to give it a second chance. Menu is lacking and overpriced. Service was incredibly slow and food took over an hour.
One of the best meals I've had in a very long time: Hawksworth's veal. The mushroom puree was unlike anything I've ever tried before. For an appetizer I tried the halibut crudo - this was not something I would have again, I found the onion flavour to be overpowering. However, the burrata gazpacho was incredible. The wine list is comprehensive and impressive and the service is top notch. For dessert had the dark chocolate chantilly cake with dehydrated raspberries. Excellent.
One of Vancouver's best restaurants! The menu always has something new and the wine pairing is always a great time.
Had our intimate wedding reception dinner here last night at the York Room and it was amazing. The food tasted delicious and all our guests left very happy with the meal. The cod dish and condensed milk ice cream was something that our guests absolutely raved about. Food was excellent as per Hawksworth’s reputation, however, it was really the service that sets them apart. Our lead server, Eric, was amazing. I had our friends show up early to help set up our sweetheart table before dinner. However, my friends said that Eric saw what needed to be done and did it all himself and made the table look awesome. He definitely didn’t need to do anything and he went well above and beyond what’s expected of him to make the night extra memorable. Thank you Hawksworth for the great evening of food and drinks, as well as Eric for providing outstanding service!
The historic Georgia Hotel in downtown Vancouver may not be what it used to be, but as time passes, this restaurant continues the tradition of proving to be a satisfying experience. Expect higher food prices given the location in the heart of downtown. For a five star experience try the Yew, in the Four Seasons Hotel, across the street.
Excellent food, friendly and efficient staff. My only complaint was the place was very busy and noise level was pretty loud making it difficult to have a conversation. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. $25 taste of Hawksworth lunch menu was good value.
Lots of hype which ends in more disappointment. Restaurant is beautiful, food is mediocre. Dining experience is sub par.
It's a fancier place the food is good if you know what you want to eat. I tried their tasting menu and it was not good. Couldn't really eat half the stuff they were serving.
Great staff, ambiance and the food was pretty good too. Unfortunately the price point was too high for the food offerings during covid. Definitely feel for restaurants during this hard time but still expected a more inspired menu.
Very fancy Bar, nice service €€€€
One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver. The food quality is perfect and the staff are beyond accommodating and friendly. It is on the more expensive side but I believe it is worth it. The sommelier is also exceptional as I have found some of my favourite wines at Hawksworth. Will continue to always return!
Hawksworth would have Michelin stars if they came to Canada
Our server Bertrand made our day. What a professional. Hawksworth's meals are healthy and delicious. If you can afford it; try it.
Visited Hawksworth for dinner a couple days ago and enjoyed the experience. We had the tasting menu and all of the dishes were spectacular. The sommelier they have in-house is amazing, and our server was nice too. I was not as impressed with the professionalism of the hostess, or the timing of the kitchen. It may have been because the kitchen was really busy, but the time we had to wait between some our our courses was ridiculous (over 35 mins for one). I will clarify that I am also judging Hawksworth to a higher standard as it is one of Vancouvers more expensive restaurants. I will definitely be returning to try some of their other menu items as the food was exquisite.
Quite possibly the best meal I've ever had. Went with my wife for our anniversary and we were treated wonderfully. Also have wonderful cocktail list with the signature 'Georgia hotel'.
Excellent, creative fare in a classical dining setting. The presentation of each dish were all works of art. Completely unique and delicious. A must-try if you're in Vancouver.
Good food. Higher end experience. You get what you pay for and I will be back ????
It's a fine dining establishment, so the prices are high, but the food was delicious and the service was amazing. Went for an anniversary, and while they were doing this with other tables, they did an amazing job making us feel special. I would definitely go ahain
Dec 23, 2020 was my last radiation ☢️ treatment and marked the end of all my cancer treatments. . I chose to celebrate at hawksworth for lunch right after my final treatment. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The restaurant went over and above to ensure this day was beyond special and memorable. I found it completely ironic that we were seated in front of a large piece of art that read; "too cool to die" I couldn't have said it better ???????? Thank you to the management, Jayton the amazing Som for introducing me to an amazing sparkling wine and Matthew for the incredible service. Thank you to the entire staff. You truly went over and above.
Absolutely wonderful experience here! Came here with our family and the service and food were amazing. Erinee was our server and she was very knowledgable on the food, extremely warm and made our experience unforgettable. The meals and drinks were superb and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Hawksworth.
We were in a private dining room, so the experience was different than what you'd get in the restaurant, but I did enjoy my meal immensely. The dessert was especially and unexpectedly good with mascarpone and lemon custard.
staff/service great. but the food was way too salty - ruined it for me... for that level of quality and skill, no salt should be needed for it to be good. I had lamb and duck - great flavours already, no need to kill it in salt.
Good food, friendly staffs! My husband order the lunch set and it taste wonderful, worth then more we pay! Love the KFC for sure!
I had one of the most divine culinary experience here: pate paired with a riesling. Pairing was suggested by their sommelier, and it was the first time that I had experienced what a good wine pairing was. Unfortunately for me, it was my appetizer, and everything else came after paled in comparison.
Love this place! Food and service we're excellent!
Amazing food and very high quality service. The squid was a unique take which is not often seen around BC, but was executed perfectly, and the burger was also a perfectly simple burger. The quality certainly justifies the price
Nice ambiance. Great server/service by David. Unimpressive, uninspiring food, and unworthy of recommendation to friends. I saw your response, Scott, and tried (twice) to email you directly at sg@hawksworthrestaurant.com, but it got bounced back, so I'll post my reply/longer explanation here: Hi Scott, I appreciate the professionalism you demonstrated on behalf of Hawksworth in response to my review. There were 2 of us dining: My daughter Danielle (34) who recently moved back home from Miami where amongst other things she headed a foodie Meetup group, and has traveled extensively; and myself (65), a born n bred Vancouverite who has also visited many countries and has a fairly broad palette - Blue Water Cafe, Salmon House on the Hill, Hy's, Giardino's, and Le Crocodile rank among my favourites - and am known to be chill and an unfussy gourmand. Danielle created a list of restaurants she wanted to visit after doing some due diligence with online websites and reviews. Yours was first amongst them. (others include Chambar, L'Abattoir, Boulevard Kitchen, Miku, Osteria Savio Volpe.) For the record, we have similar and divergent tastes, but in this case there was consensus that aside from the nice ambiance and great service, the food quality ranged from meh to good. Here's what we ordered: 1 cocktail 1 beer Tuna Carpaccio (????????) Crab & shrimp toast (good) Sablefish (ok but stingy portion) Lamb Sirloin (ok but stingy portion) In retrospect, my review could have embellished that some of the food was good, but I would still be hard-pressed to make a good faith recommendation to a friend or relative for any restaurant that served 4 dishes with 1 tasting below-average, two being ok, and only 1 achieving a good rating. The fact our meal cost $233 (with 20% tip) for 2 drinks, 2 starters, and 2 entrees makes it even more challenging. Also, just so you know, our opinion has since been echoed by a number of people we know who have also previously dined at Hawksworth; that some of the food is good but not great or special, it's pricy, and it's overhyped. Sincerely, Mark
A friend is a chef here! This is probably the nicest restaurant in the city when it comes to upper class dining. Many choices abound, but Hawksworth does everything with care and attention to detail, so customer satisfaction is high. Plus it's very swanky. ????
Absolutely a 5 star restaurant in Vancouver. The tasting menu is a must try and is complimented by the timeless decor and exceptional service. Reservations highly recommended.
Excellent service and the best food
Lovely room, excellent service and yet supremely bland food. I was completely underwhelmed but it was lunch and I’m willing to give the dinner service another try :)
It was good, but could and should have been better, especially given the stellar reputation of Chef Hawksworth and the stellar price. But somewhere the temptation to make it better focused on plating and drifted from the taste The Pacific squid wasn't in need of the pool of melted peanut butter on which it rested, overpowered by the strong taste. Too much sauce afflicted the perfectly prepared lobster tail as well. The room is handsome if too acousticly hard, but the service was attentive and well informed. Good but short of great...
Mixed experiences the times I’ve come in, I find the food excellent but the front of house staff rude at times and rushing guest. When you come into a restaurant this beautiful and pay the money you do you expect an experience that I don’t think the foh delivers
Great service and great food! One of the best places so far in Vancouver - don’t miss this place and thx to the team!
Succulent dishes, hats off to the chef! Feb 16th birthday dinner. The food was excellent, the setting intimate and I would rate this place 5-Star if it wasn’t for the service. Really lacking both at bar and table. In 2 hour meal, saw the server 3 times. Kept waiting on him. The bartender let our Martinis sit and dilute in ice while he catered to a tipping patron’s large order .. quite disappointing Host & hostesses were lovely and welcoming.
I’m so glad they reopened relatively recently. The restaurant is relatively small but quality-wise it is one of the best in Vancouver. Like several other posh restaurants in Vancouver, it’s associated with a hotel. The food, drinks, and service are all indicative of its status. Food is nicely presented and is rich in flavor. Scallops were perfectly done and pork belly was just out of this word. Pasta was good too but not quite a favorite. Drinks are good but nothing out of ordinary. Service was outstanding even though they had cut back on some extra touches because of covid. From the moment you enter the restaurant till you leave you are made to feel special. I’ll be back for special occasions!
Appetizers were great- we had the KFC (cauliflower), oysters, olives and the carrot ginger soup. My husbands cocktail was also good- spicy and not too sweet. We were both underwhelmed by our mains (pork belly with scallops, chicken). For the price I was expecting amazing and they were not bad, but just ok. Dessert was good, not amazing. I have been more impressed with the food at their sister restaurant Nightingale.
Nice atmosphere, good service, and very knowledgeable staff. Food is obviously good. Won't argue with the critics that say it's the best restaurant in Vancouver.
While in Vancouver B.C we were very excited to have dinner here and enjoy the chefs tasting 7 course meal that represented the B.C area. I can tell you that this meal did not disappoint at all and was worth it. People will look at the price tag for it (we did the 209 that included wine pairings) but dont like it discourage you as I swear its money well spend. The wine pairing is a must as it only enhances the meal beyond what you can imagine . Each dish was presented and explained to beautifully and in great detail. We felt with each bite we were learning more and more about the area history and culture as it is very diverse. Our service staff went above and beyond with everything from presenting, resetting the table, and making sure your glasses were never empty. We were lucky enough to meet the chef and his culinary team to pass along our gratitude for the amazing meal they produced for us. This meal is something you must put in your lists of mush do and must eat when visiting vancover b.c. bite the bullet and indulge as it'll be worth it
While I'd heard lots of hype and some disappointing experiences, mine at Hawksworth was flawless. Amazing service, food and vibe in the place. Possibly the best food I've had in Vancouver, as you'll hear.
Lovely. Great service. Great food. Classy atmosphere. On a side note that Nicholas guy must have really hated his company to be watching the clock like that, lmao. I don’t think I’ve ever been in such a rush to get drunk before.
We loved everything about our visit! The food, service, and ambience were all excellent. Thank you again - can't wait to come back!
My partner and I had a plant-based tasting menu with wine pairing. The wine was really nice, mostly from BC, and the service was flawless. But the plant-based courses... oof. They likely went through a lot of trouble to prepare a meal for vegans, but they really shouldn't bother offering a $99 plant-based tasting menu of such poor quality. Oddly, most of the dishes were a soup, gazpacho, mash, or puree. As a vegan, one knows what it's like to have a restaurant pass off a side dish as a main course. But serving endless soups and mushy dishes is really not okay. Vegans, vegetarians, and plant-based eaters, try the tasting menu if you're with a group of people who want to try the standard tasting menu, but definitely don't go out of your way to eat at Hawksworth on your own. You will be disappointed.
The service was excellent. After being overlooked for the first twelve minutes, my husband spoke up and they were very apologetic. They immediately stepped up and were very attentive for the rest of the meal. We had the tasting menu again, and it was delicious.
My wife and I came here for the first time for their cocktail hour. It was a great experience. Genuinely friendly and highly attentive service without feeling patronized. Small place but a great ambiance without the stuffiness. Intimate and classy place to unwind after work. The food and drinks were perfect as expected. Hope they keep up the amazing value their cocktail hour offers.
Interior is beautiful - I would give it 5 stars for that. Unfortunately, the brunch menu I dined off of recently was unimaginative and unexciting. It was executed fine, but lacked the X factor I remember Hawksworth having.
Easily one of the best restaurants in Vancouver for a special night out. The menu selection is top of the line and the service is also spot on. We ordered the duck breast and the lamb duo. The meat was cooked to the perfect doneness. The flavour of each dish was well balanced. The lamb was not too gamey, while the sauce really complemented the particular flavour of the lamb.
One of Vancouver's most famous fine dining establishments. It lives up to its reputation in terms of service and food quality. Amazing.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Great service.
My girlfriend and I celebrated our 4th year anniversary and it could not have gone more smoothly. The food was delicious. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was worth every penny. The service was great and they were very approachable and friendly. Overall worth the experience and I would 100% go back again.
The lounge here is a wonderful spot to sit and enjoy some oysters and cocktails by a warm fireplace. The burger that you can order medium rare was also delicious. Our server, Jenna, was amazing. Her positive energy and personable nature really added to our experience!
It is a no way going wrong choice.
I arrived around 2:30 and was able to try lunch and dinner, really original plates and cocktails, I tried the burger, the tuna tartar, the foie-gras, butter poached lobster roll, Every one of them were super NICE, and honest culinary orgasm, out of all them the butter poached lobster roll was amazing, the attention was out of this world and it was AMAZING, 9/10 would absolutely recommend to other people.
Meal type
Had an exquisite lunch at Hawksworth today with impeccable service! The Provence assam ice tea with Tahitian vanilla + lavender was surprisingly fragrant and delightful, the exotic seafood platter was like no other, the lunch tasting menu is fine dining without the price ???? and the moules frites were amazing! The portion sizes are great for a fine dining faire and there are no compromises in flavours or quality! I’d definitely go back again!
Absolute perfection! We had the tasting menu plus some yummy cocktails!!!!!! Everything top to bottom was amazing - very welcoming, delicious food - next level service - thank you Erik for the great recommendations!!!! Amazing Sommelier for the wine paring! Love this - cross it off the bucket list and can’t wait to come back!!!!
Bam! Great cocktails! Unfortunately I’m not financially-flush enough to be a regular client, but the happy hour deals here are the jam, and made me feel shmancy! Really enjoyed my martinis, my bourbon sour, and more... The staff are fantastic. Looking forward to trying out the menu! Bathrooms are clean, location is amazing.
Delicious food and amazing dining experience! The service here is excellent, the staff go above and beyond to make your experience special.
It's very rare that I rate a restaurant 5 stars but Hawksworth was definitely a great dining experience! Very dim lighting giving a romantic/intimate feel - great place for a date. In saying that, there were also larger groups dining there. We were greeted by the hostess who was very well-mannered, warm and friendly, engaging in a bit of conversation with us as she took us to our seats. The wait staff were all friendly also! We ordered the Ceviche and Pork Belly as our starters and they were both terrific! As a main, we ordered the ribeye steak for two which was beautiful! Had a nice pinkness to it but wasn't too rare in the centre despite it look very pink on the outside. Would definitely dine here again if I'm ever in town!
Foods are amazing, presentation is great and taste great. All their seafoods are fresh and the way they cook you can taste the cooking technique but the original food flavour still remains.
My colleagues at my previous job took me here for a celebratory farewell lunch on my second last day. I enjoyed the intimate, stylish environment and felt safe where we were seated. All four of us ordered the same thing: their 3-course DineOut set. We thought $30 was a very good value for 3 courses. We started with crispy arancini with squash, mozzarella, and mushrooms. The main course was salmon with parsnip purée, sunchoke, spinach, and parsley. Dessert was the best part: Black Forest Verrine with panna cotta and dark chocolate mousse. My only complaint is that the portions were too small for lunch. After dessert, I felt as though I ate only as much as an appetizer and half of a main.
Great food, atmosphere, and design. The staff were wonderful. Hospitality professionals through and through. Setup and COVID protocols were great. My wife and I felt at ease and comfortable in the establishment at all times. Thanks Hawksworth team for a wonderful dinner!
Good service and good food, super nice Latte, just w but pricey
Great restaurant with nice atmosphere and terrific service. Enjoyed every dish we ordered.
Attended for brunch. Reservation made well in advance. Given less than desirable table right next to door. Service was impeccable. Yet. The chef was off. First ordered. Vegetarian eggs benedict. Received standard one. Sent back. Requested. No paprika. Correct order came with paprika. My co guest was done eating. Did I mention eggs not done as ordered and plate arrived cold. I ordered bacon crisp it was done good. My co guest asked for regular bacon - arrived overly crisp. The clincher this restaurant asked for my feedback. I gave this review. To date no reply from there. I guess they don't care of customers feedback and don't want
The food was amazing and not a single glass was left empty during the whole evening. I have some allergies which was met with positivity. One of my dishes were completely different to the others, which to me showed respect and dedication. I have nothing to complain about. The whole evening was divine!
Excellent service...better food....visiting from Ontario but wish we could come back more often. Great value.....excellent fine dining establishment.
My wife and I had the new Summer tasting menu with the wine pairings. Very nice setting. Good service--on the casual side for a high end restaurant. But then again, this is Vancouver--where else would you see diners wearing white t-shirts in a restaurant like this? The meal was pleasant. Wine pairings were good. Food flavours were balanced, but nothing was particularly innovative or spectacular. When I'm paying close to $500 for a meal for two, i want to be bowled over. This is how I felt the last time I went to Cafe Juanita (in Washington) and "C" about 5 years ago. And I can probably say the same with slightly less emphasis for Bishops, Market and Chambar. Two dishes in the tasting menu struck me as vastly improvable: the crayfish tempura (this was a lazy dish) and the duck. The duck itself was lovely, but the sauce was infused with a perplexing amount of passion-fruit seeds that did not make a particularly enjoyable eating experience. The final savoury dish was a nice bit of lamb on a bed of sauce and mashed potatoes. Nothing offensive, but nothing wonderful either. I'd describe dessert, but I can't actually remember it. I appreciated the parting gift of two little banana muffins.
After reading many reviews in advance of booking a reservation, my expectations were very high. Maybe too high. The service upon entering the restaurant and after being seated was outstanding and the sense of comfort was enhanced by the very tastefully appointed interior. I will admit to making an error in judgment by ordering the fixed price meal without making sure my wife understood what would be arriving on the plates. Just to be clear, this was our mistake and not something Hawksworth deserves any negative rating for. Unfortunately I don't really think our wait person handled how the meal progressed very well. He did make an effort to offer substitute protein for my wife who just won't eat some of the dishes based on the protein or cooking method. I appreciate the effort but there was definitely an air of condescension in his delivery. I couldn't help feeling this waiter should consider thinking a little deeper about how he chooses to make a living. You're basically a middle aged indentured servant with not much of a chance of making a truly meaningful contribution based on your limited skill set any time soon. Well unless consistently filling someone's glass with water in a timely manner can be interpreted as being an outstanding accomplishment . You don't own the restaurant or even manage it. Maybe that explains why you obviously have issues and live in a fantasy world where you never make mistakes. From my perspective you're just a pretentious and shallow sorry excuse of a person and good luck retiring in comfort any time soon with that going on. As far as the meal itself there were some really delicious items like the hamachi tartare and the dessert but others that were relatively mundane in comparison. The lobster dish, halibut and the lamb are not something I would ever order again especially considering the price.
They put in all efforts to make our anniversary special. Jackie (our server) was a delight. She made it a point to click pictures for us and made sure we were taken well care of. The food was delectable and bursting with flavors- prawn and crab toast was pur favorite. Will definitely come back again and recommend to friends.
I truly had fun at this restaurant, the food is remarkable, plus the shower rooms were not bad for public. It was a little cool inside, really was not the best. The atmosphere is excellent. I will most definitely take into consideration going back again if I ever land the opportunity. Me and my friend bought the toast and we were not disappointed. My one suggestion is to maintain the cool outside. Thank you!
My wife and I dined at Hawksworth on our 20th anniversary. The food was excellent (prime rib) and they added some really nice little touches for us that made the evening special.
I really wanted to like it but it just fell a bit short in my opinion. The Good: - Great service, good recommendations and food knowledge. - Great wine and really enjoyed my cocktail (it was pretty too). - Excellent appetizers (oysters, KFC, crispy rice with tuna). - Bathrooms and soap - love that soap and appreciate a good bathroom. - The dessert - the hazelnut praline bar was an absolute delight. The ice cream was amazing and the texture/combination of the soft milk chocolate base with the crispy praline was awesome. - Sides: great fries and brussels sprouts. The Bad: - The main dish. The agnolotti (pasta) wasn't warm enough and I did not like the celery foam. I didn't think celery would be a great flavor profile but thought maybe they added something to it, it is certainly as advertised and tastes like celery. The actual pasta was nice and perfectly cooked despite not being served warm enough. With a different combination of flavours, it would have suited me better. This is of course partly subjective. - The hostess was not particularly kind or engaging. She seemed almost irritated as she looked up at me, perhaps I was taking her away from something else. Perhaps it was just an off day. Perhaps she genuinely hated me. The Medium: - I felt the interior was nothing special. It was very dark in our corner. Some of the lighting fixtures were interesting but overall it didn't leave much of an impact on me. - The burrata/squash appetizer was almost amazing but the seeds on top were not crispy. I felt they were a weird chewy texture. The burrata was perfect though, creamy and delicious. I had wanted to go here and chose it because a vendor was in town. Overall we had a nice time but certainly it did not live up to the hype or as a top restaurant in Canada. Perhaps a top restaurant in Vancouver but it doesn't compare to places in Toronto and Quebec.
First time dining with Hawksworth to celebrate our 6th anniversary and we were wowed by every single course in the tasting menu.
Our family Christmas Eve dinner for 8 was nothing less than sensational all as relates to the cuisine, our server Yal and our wine sommelier Roger. Everyone exclaimed their meal was outstanding and the recomendation from our server as to the Sturgeon fish dish was tremendous. We were also permitted to bring 2 special bottles of our own wine ( provided it is not on their wine list) at nominal corkage which allowed us to have a perfect dinner and evening unrushed for 3 hours for approx $100 per person. Which surely was the best money I ever spent.
Amazing service and the ingredients they used were so fresh! Extremely delicious. Definitely worth a try and would go back again :)
Excellent 20.20 lunch. Service was beyond my expectation. Highly reommend this excellent deal.
Always enjoyed coming here for lunch. Amazing food and services from start to finish. Selection is great and service is always amazing!

Delicious food and excellent service.
Only reason I’m giving this place a 4 stars is because our server in the lounge forgot our octopus and it came 20 min later, the drinks were coming extremely slow. Almost 20 min to get one cocktail. Also, after waiting for the octopus it turned out to be absolutely disgusting. The smell of it from the fish sauce is so off putting. The oysters were great and the cocktails tasted good. Eventually we’ll come back to eat in the dining room but first time in the lounge was so so.
A must try at least once. Trust me, you'll go back. On the higher end, but who doesn't deserve a treat. Still the best steak I've had in the city (not pictured). Korean fried cauliflower is a must try. Lamb rack pictured is tender and tasty. Don't leave without dessert. Caramel cardamom pot de creme!
Christmas day breakfast: services was exceptional, the waiter was very attentive and our two breakfast meals were done wonderfully. Overall a very good experience.
Love this place. Hawksworth catered our wedding reception at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia a few years back. We and our guests were very satisfied with the quality, taste and overall finesse of the affair. Tonight we celebrated our anniversary by dining at the restaurant to see if our palates are still enthralled by the seasons bounty. Highly recommend! Delicious dinner well worth the high price.
Two dinners, two nights in a row, and by pure chance, both at Hawksworth Restaurant. One a business dinner, the next dinner with friends. And both superb experiences with wonderful menu items, great wine selection, and perfect service. Couldn’t ask for more from a restaurant. The menu is creative and constantly evolving, and the staff knowledgeable, and highly professional.
Great experience (as always). Everything you can expect from the restaurant of this level. The staff do everything they can to make you feel welcomed and happy. We come here quite often but this is our first time after the lockdown and I am truly happy to see Bertrand (our great server) again. Antoine (the somellier) is amazing as well. We really enjoyed our dinner today.
Really unique, fine dining food. Perhaps among the best in the world.
For such an expensive restaurant you'd expect to get paid more than minimum wage
This place is so racist I felt discriminated against the whole time and would get dirty looks... I will never come here again
Terrible owner! Please do not waste your time and money here.
Beautiful restaurant located in the heart of the city. Love this place. Always perfect in every way. The service, the food, wine pairing oh and did I say service.
Amazing food and service. Loved the Korean cod. They even decorated dessert for my son’s birthday
Fabulous environment, Respectful staff members, Excellent cuisine. If you value great service while dining, this is a gem you need to visit while in Vancouver BC.
So not impressed. The food was super rich and the service was really unpleasant. I'm not saying all of the staff weren't friendly, but our server should take a course in social etiquette. As a foodie, I really wanted to like this place. There are so many nice restaurants in Vancouver, there is no reason to dine somewhere that is not welcoming and warm. Dining out should be a pleasant and positive experience, especially when my bill was over $400. I'm so disappointed.
I have been eyeing up the food they have posted online for some time. I just finally broke down and took a friend here. Wow! Started with scallops and they were delectable. Then shared the Pork belly it was amazing! Had the duck and wow. We were both stuffed. I will be back for more. I was Saddened that the mussels were only on the tasting menu. Guess I will just have to order that next.
It's not often I experience perfection in service and attentiveness and food to die for but the Hawksworth rates as one of those places. I cannot recommend the restaurant and its staff highly enough.
For celebrating our graduation here, they gifted us a card with signatures from the employees and it's such a sweet and nice gesture. Serves a wide variety of meals, from Japanese wagyu to French steaks to Korean fried cauliflowers. Portions are generous and flavours are great. Especially the pork belly, the meat was extremely soft, it contrasted and paired very well with the crispy skin. The ingredients were fresh and of high quality. Although the service was a bit slow, our waiter for the night was very friendly and thoughtful throughout the whole meal. It definitely made our dining experience a lot more enjoyable. Located inside a gorgeous hotel, the atmosphere here is certainly more "classy". Entering the restaurant increased our expectations by a lot seeing how everything is so fancy. Finally the plating and presentation is just gorgeous. Really captivates us and makes us feel a bit bad when dig into the plates.
Food was delicious.... Staff were great. Romantic. Great decor. Loved the treating menu and wine pairings
Had high expectations coming in. Ordered the dine-out menu. Appetizer was amazing - it was creamy and fishy and lived up to the hype behind Hawksworth. Expected the main menu to blow my mind, except to be disappointed by a rather mediocre pasta dish. My partner's squid was burnt and overseasoned while mine was fine, which raised the question of inconsistency in the kitchen. Dessert was a failed attempt at fine dining - plating seems okay, if not for the lack of portion or taste. Overall, my first experience at Hawksworth was not worth the money spent. On the off chance that I do come back, I would ask the server for the best menu.
The tasting menu was surprisingly unimpressive, or maybe it just didn't live up to the expectations. Most of the courses were not balanced, and the best part of the experience was, probably, the presentation. The dessert was exceptional, though.
Revisited the Hawksworth restaurant today. I was extremely delighted that my server was “Kate D.” and she was impeccable, superb, courteous and accommodating. Service was beyond amazing everyone was super attentive even if they weren’t my server. Thanks to the Hawsworth’s dream team that truly made my meal was memorable. The food and atmosphere are always incredible. During this unfortunate pandemic it’s hard to truly feel safe while dining. Hawksworth really does care, and provides the infrastructure to provide it. The tables were well spaced to meet the Covid-19 social distancing requirement, and all the restaurant staff members were wearing masks all the time. I would highly recommend the Hawksworth restaurant to anyone.
Superb food, delicate, exquisite. Excellent, dedicated service. The waiter was deeply involved with the table without being intrusive. One of best places in Vancouver for dinner. Necessarily expensive.
Exceptional food, experience and ambience. Attention to detail was very evident throughout our breakfast. One of my favourite restaurant in Vancouver.
Dine in
We went there to celebrate my B-Day last night ,Good service, tasty food,....the best desert that I ever have it, ???????? Ps: velvet parking only.
I got brunch there. Nothing special and not bad
We've been there for breakfast and lunch and all ingredients were fresh and with an impeccable service and manners. Lunch as enjoyable with some simple spaghetti with peas and delicious Japanese squid sautéed to perfection. We shall be back for dinner in some weeks. We love you guys! (For breakfast: granola or English breakfast!)
Service
Ever eaten something and the second it touched your tongue you knew it was wrong and wanted to spit it out? Hawksworth is the exact opposite, you'll want to hold off swallowing every bite since it both feels and tastes unbelievable. Impeccable service and great ambiance.
Jenna was amazing!!! Food was great, drinks were fabulous but Jenna made the experience amazing .
Absolutely amazing. The prix fix lunch was to die for. Loved the pink elephant cocktail. Cannot recommend this restaurant more. If you are a foodie - get yourself a reservation!
The restaurant was extremely overpriced for the quality and portion size of the food. The menu hardly has any variety, especially with the main dishes. Although the appetizers were terrible, the main dishes were pretty good. The only redeeming factor of this restaurant is the good service. Do not come here if you want to be full. Would not come again.
This place definitely did not live up to the expectation of being one of the top restaurants in the city. There were a couple of fantastic dishes but both mains that were ordered came out bland and poorly cooked. The chicken was dry and the risotto was almost a soup. We only spoke up about the risotto which they offered to replace but as soon as we said something the service went downhill. My partner waited for 15 minutes for anyone to come up and ask if he would like another drink while we waited for the dish to be replaced which also took a while and started to ruin the evening. We watched numerous staff walk by and no one paid attention to us anymore. For a high end restaurant we were also surprised that we weren't offered any sort of compensation for the awkward dinner we had even though we ordered plenty of drinks, apples and desserts. The best part is they emailed me a survey about our experience and even though I sent them the situation of what happened, no one cared to follow up. Very disappointing experience.
I am the first to admit that this was a waste on me. I was here for a function, not off the menu and it is not the simple food that I enjoy. Having said that the service was excellent the food was warm for all even though the have a banquet hall full of people to serve. Would I choose to go back? Nope. Not really their fault, I am just not their target customer.
No one creates menus quite like David Hawksworth! It’s always a pleasure eating here. Friendly staff, white glove service, amazing food! Every time I have a meal here I’m already planning my next visit!
I stopped for few drinks. Prem is a bartender served special cocktail. It's worth to try it. Great service and great place to be here .
Somehow a good friend and I whom both love food hadn't tried Hawksworth until now. I suppose in the back of my mind I always thought it would be something like stuck-up servers, small serving sizes, etc. Our server whom I dubbed "Mr Mustache" was nice enough even though I teased him and asked about the dineout menu, which he kind of starred and replied that there isn't one for dinner. We started with the hamachi appetizer dish, which was mostly average, but I was very impressed with how they split the serving in half, i.e. two nicely plated sets of 3 pieces each (see photo for reference). We hadn't asked him to do it so 'twas a nice gesture. Back to the entree - I had the duck breast and she had the veal tenderloin. Both were amazing. I'm a big fan of "sauces", especially ones with a citrusy-sweet tang that I find complements duck very nicely. The texture was also excellent - a perfect medium-rare with a slightly crispy skin. I enjoyed the entire dish immensely and found the serving size to be very generous. My friend also raved about her veal tenderloin (see photo). We skipped dessert in favour of changing the venue but was pleased with the mini brownies and candied jelly. It was a nice touch to end a pleasant dining experience. Needless to say I will be coming back.
The food and service are terrific! Our server was super knowledgeable and friendly, he really made our night special ???? and the drinks... OMG so good!
A lot of ppl feel being discriminated by this restaurant. Will never go there!
Food and service was amazing. They were able to cater to my allergy and custom make dishes that I could enjoy.
Staff is amazing. Food is amazing. Drinks are amazing.
The review is based on the new prix fixe lunch menu. It looked quite promising and featured some unusual sounding dishes. The start was quite cheerful – we equally enjoyed the goat milk panna cotta served with beets and the mushroom paté with pickles and a seed cracker. We were glad we ordered a bread basket as it paired well with the appetizers. The mains, however, were disappointing. The poorly cooked and tough rockfish served on cheap hash browns was a complete disaster. The pork belly had a funny smell and left an unpleasant aftertaste. Unfortunately, the desert didn't help to raise the bar as the sorbet was way too sweet and flavourless otherwise.
We had a WONDERFUL dinner tonight! Incredible service all around but Bertrand made the night truly special. The sommelier was bang on with his recommendation for the sable fish I enjoyed (photo). Thank you Bertrand and everyone at Hawksworth for an incredible night!
Nice location. Exquisite food. Pricing is a little high. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to try the tasting menu but it looked like a popular choice. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Goose liver is always a treat. Give this place a chance and it might be for you.
Went for lunch. The server charged each person 5 dollars for tap water without saying water was 5 dollars until the bill arrived. We complained and he took it off the bill. Also charged additional 5 dollars for a hot water with lemon. The food was okay. Had burrata and fois gras to start. Both were ok. Nothing special. Fois gras was burried in this sweet berry jello. Burger was ok. Have had better for less money. The lamb was very tender but not that flavorful. The server was not attentive and made a mistake with a request. Overall it was extremely overpriced and the food was mediocre. There are far better restaurants in Vancouver.
Been to Hawksworth twice, including Christmas Dinner and absolutely love it. Fantastic food, beautifully plated and delicious. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in the city. We look forward to going back.
Returned to Hawksworth to celebrate my wife's birthday. As usual, everything was perfect. This is the place we celebrate all our anniversaries, birthdays, and other special occasions. The service is as good or better here as any fine dining restaurant I have ever enjoyed, anywhere in the world.
Came for brunch with a big group, amazing food. Outstanding service, our server Jackey was extremely patient and gave excellent service, I know serving large groups is a lot of work.
This place has gone downhill lately. The $50 (take-out) fixed price dinner was the size of a couple very small appetizers. The food just didn’t taste very good either. The tuna was dry and the dessert looked grocery store-bought. I threw most of it away.
Chef Sasha Tran (of Knives + Mercy in LA) has done it again with Saintly Fare. I especially loved sitting in a gubi chair while dining here.
Attended a catered event here this week and the food was incredible. Atmosphere was nice and cozy with a super friendly team in house.
Have just returned from what was a disappointing evening. Basically, the service, or lack of, overshadowed the food. Our waiter seemed to lose interest in us . We had starters, mains, and desserts. Each of us had one glass of wine only - maybe the waiter felt that the bill, and tip, was not going to be big enough. The food was adequate, not outstanding- certainly not up to what i would think Hawkesworths' reputation is all about. The beef carpaccio appeared to have been plated some time before, and was stuck to the serving plate. My main complaint was the fact that about half way through the meal, the waiter appeared to completley lose interest in us. He forgot to serve my guest's port, and then was surly when I requested it. Coffee was barely lukewarm- perhaps a a small detail, but important. Waited a very long time for the bill. I tipped 15 percent, for what i considered to be mediocre service. The waiter was just this side of snarky and rude.Never EVER will I recommend this restaurant. Or return.
Great food. Quality was amazing and presentation. Although service seemed too try hard and fake. Portions small but that’s expected! Thanks
11.23 I celebrity my birthday here, aswsome service loved the food here! Highly recommended
My husband and I enjoyed the tasting menu. The halibut squid ink agedashi tofu should be tried by EVERYBODY...such an incredible symphony of flavours.. Also the hamachi tataki w radish and yuzu.. Nice crunchy rice puffs on top.. Truly a masterpiece. Really extensive wine list and the sommelier was extremely passionate and unpretentious. Wonderful service by Bertrand, our server. Would happily recommend to anybody looking for a special, rewarding evening of culinary adventure.
Hawksworth was good when they first opened, however, the staff have become more snooty and food is okay. There are so many great restaurants in Vancouver that are far better. I dine out to have a great experience (especially when dropping $400 for a meal). I have to say, this was not worth it.
Great restaurant to go for dinner or date night. The hazy beer is refreshing and has a hint of citrus flavour. The wagyu beef for the burger is made in-house. It is not bad as it is juicy and not messy unlike other restaurants. Just the right amount of toppings for the burger. The sides we ordered are corn, potatoes and truffle fries. So far I think the potatoes is best side out of the three with corn being second. It has taste and the chorizo adds enough taste to the potatoes. The corn is also good too with the char marks and the natural flavour of the corn. The truffle fries was okay as I was expecting the essence of the truffles coating the fries to give it an indulgent taste but nothing just normal fries. When you have your first bite of Caramel pot de creme, you can taste the caramel immediately and it is good. I ordered condensed milk ice cream (forgot to take picture, sorry). The condensed milk gives the dessert the necessary sweetness and it works. Even the biscuits (?) garnishing the plate has the right amount of crunch and sweetness. The staff here are excellent. They are friendly and go the extra mile when our server describe each dish. Even our server gave us another beer when accidentally knock over his beer glass and it shattered. Recommend you make a reservation due to recent events.
I think the word that comes to mind is delightful! Great setting, atmosphere and service. The food is prepared with attention to detail and I came away quite satisfied! A bit of a treat because the price point is a bit higher than average but worth a trip anyway!
Most amazing dinner I have had in my life. Although very $$$$. Very worth the experience. Service is above the rest! Enjoy this jem.
With ‘worth’ in its name, it must live up to the hype, right? As a celebratory dinner with my family visiting, I wanted it to be special. Reservations were made a month in advance and yet, upon our arrival, we were told our table wasn’t ready and to wait in the hotel lounge. 10...15...25 minutes pass and we physically had to go back to inquire whether any progress had been made. It was on the late side, we were all hungry. Finally we’re seated and our server greets us with a remark that was quite possibly the most pathetic apology I’ve witnessed from any server in a respectable restaurant: “I’m sorry, we took so long because you are taking up half the room.” Might I clarify that our relatively sizeable table of seven did not comprise half of the room. Many of us at the table ordered the halibut dish, one of the server’s many recommendations. The flavours weren’t necessarily pleasant but what really stood out was the overcooked fish. A couple of us sent it back only to receive an undercooked replacement. The menu is limited - each dish should be refined and executed to perfection if not the first time, then undoubtedly the second. Upon perceiving our distaste for what we had ordered (aside from the Champagne and wine), the sommelier brought one complimentary glass of wine to the table. One of the strangest, most unpleasant glasses of pinot noir. One glass...that no one could drink. Why bring anything at all? After the whole table decided that we didn’t want anything sweet, the experience ended with two courses of complimentary dessert, of course to appease the overall negative experience. The sablefish dish was excellent and the bathrooms were beautiful. I just wish they had mouthwash in them to get rid of the potent garlic taste from the halibut that continues to govern my palette one hour later. There are so many wonderful restaurants in this city that are consistently exceptional. Based on our experience, this is not one of them.
Ambience is good, staffs are friendly. Food is excellent and portion is huge. Highly recommended!
Tasting menu was delicious & the wine pairings were very well done. Someone knows something others don't. Hands down, "B" is the best server in VanCity. Nice to feel special during the entire evening. Great support team too
Great food, great service and great ambience!
Hawksworth... overhyped and overpriced. I would not go back there or recommend, Seasons is a way better restaurant.
Great place, cool ambience with great music and good food. All checks for me! The rissotto with mashed potatoes are always really good. Service is not always the best because of the number of people around. It can get crowded pretty quickly here, so better book your table beforehand.
A Vancouver institution for good reason. Warm and attentive service frames refined Pacific Northwest cuisine with exuberant flavour and exceptional lightness. You don't know what dining means in Vancouver until you experience dinner at Hawksworth.
Great fine dining experience! I love the daily feature menu and good wine selection!
Absolutely phenomenal restaurant. Excellent service and amazing food. Their $25 special is always different and is exceptional with appetizer, entrée and dessert.
A lot of the plating ideas looked like they originally had been drawn by a toddler with cheap crayons. My single scallop was alright. Not quite as elevated as one would have expected.
When you want to treat yourself, and impress your date - go straight to Hawksworth! Fantastic ambience, fantastic food, fantastic wine list.
Came for happy hour and had great service! Thank you
Absolutely fantastic! One of my best dining experiences in Vancouver! Will be back for sure!
By far, one of the best restaurants in Vancouver. The decor, service and the fantastic food, of course. A true treasure.
Excellent service. Amazing food. Beautiful private room. Highly recommend the food alone. It's delish
After years of coming here, this remains one of Vancouver's top restaurants. This is my "go-to" place whenever I am celebrating events, have visitors in town, or want a beautiful dinner. If I had to pick one dinner in Vancouver, this would be it. The service, food, drinks and overall atmosphere has been maintained since it opened. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable of all food offerings. Despite the menu offering similar items, the style of cooking the items changes. The Duck Breast is my absolute favorite along with the Hotel Georgia cocktail
The food was great as usual. Fresh. Good service and we even got in early on the reso. The food is a little too fancy for our taste for dinner but brunch is wonderful.
Some of the finest service I have ever had in my life. Best food and quality service. YUM
Delicious food and excellent service. This is one of my favorite restaurants in town, both for dinner and brunch. Their English breakfast is a must have, and their cocktails are off the charts!
Excellent service but the food not so. We were looking forward to a lovely anniversary breakfast in a top restaurant; however, were sadly disappointed. Eggs were overcooked and hollandaise sauce was cold. I don't like to complain (and shouldn't need to in a fine dining restaurant) and didn't want to put our excellent waiter through the trouble, so tried to eat it but couldn't finish. A disappointing finish to a celebratory stay over in Vancouver.
Outstanding services in such a great ambiance!!! The food is so tasty, love the oysters and caviar, amazing combination. The duck is a must, cook to perfection and so well season. Portions are also well balance.
Service
My girlfriend and I had the tasting menu. Each of the 7 dishes was superb, especially the Duck Breast. The presentation of these dishes was original. The service was impeccable. We both would definitely recommand this restaurant to anyone not on a budget.
Excellent choice for a chill vibe and classy cocktail right around dusk. Standout service here from all members of their team. Cocktail menu is obviously top notch - mine was perfectly balanced and went down far too easily.
Food and atmosphere is beyond compare. The staff at Hawksworth ensure that your dining experience is most excellent!
We had a Christmas work dinner at the Hawksworth last night and the food and drinks were spectacular. I would also like management to take note that the wait staff, especially Eric, was very attentive to making sure our table was clean and …
I finally got a chance to try lunch at Hawksworth with Dineout Vancouver 2020 event. We enjoyed the service and ambiance in the restaurant. Appetizers were both delicious. However, pasta dish was beyond salty, fish dish was just okay. At last, dessert was a huge disappointment, chocolate one was terrible, the banana one was better in comparison. I am glad I've came to try this place finally.
Great dinner with unbeatable service. One of Vancouver's top restaurants for a reason.
Very much enjoyed our evening here. The cocktails were incredible and the food was on point. Thank you for a great experience.
Staff was friendly and Courteous. However we were very frustrated with the owner giving us a very hard time because one of the people in our group has a serious Health condition and cannot wear a mask. Due to our experience we will no longer be spending our money there.
I always have a great time here. Food tasted delicious as usual. Drinks are very yummy. Service always top notch. The "taste of hawksworth" is a rotating 3 course menu. Delish as usual
3 course lunch .... fabulous Wine program ???? wine service ????glass-wear????❤️bartender ????????
Fine dining at its finest. Superb chef. Excellent wine list. Not inexpensive, but so good!
So sad to see what’s happened to the food quality here. Not sure if the ownership changed hands or debt piled up during the pandemic, they’re definitely serving low grade food and still charging a premium. We ordered the kfc cauliflower which wasn’t bad but the focaccia bread, and the ribeye steak was not up to the hawks worth standard. My wife could not cut the steak, I found it extremely tough, we didn’t get through half of it. The truffle fries were the same as the frozen ones from the supermarket. We cook steak all the time at home, and we get the prime cuts from whole foods for half the price and they’re so much better than what H is now serving. We are really hoping that this place reverts back to its old quality as it used to be the best place in town snd we know how talented David is!!!
Good food, good atmosphere and friendly staff members. No complaints.
The most close to Vancouver Michelin style restaurant!Whether it's atmosphere dishes or services are first-class!Located in the most prosperous downtown area! The best place to holiday celebrations!
" update * The last couple of interactions have bordered on the comically pompous, beware. It's wonderful that Vancouver has places like Hawksworth. A experience to dress for, and look forward to. We had scallops to start, sable fish and sturgeon as mains, all excellent. Comparable with Bishop's, or Lupo in product, but not service.
One of the best meals I have had in years. I was privy to be dinning with two of my good friends, one of them frequents Hawksworth on multiple occasions throughout the year. Our server was excellent and our sommelier was very knowledgeable and paired our bottles accordingly to our chosen dishes. I never saw a menu, but my dish was exquisite and cooked to perfection. Everything was fantastic. We actually rolled in early and had drinks at the bar that were then transferred to our tables ( we had the Gin Sours - this signature cocktail for the Hotel Georgia) and they to we incredbily tasty. But why I am mentioning this as we found ourselves conversing with other guests going for dinner and the conversation was fantastic and and filled with smiles and laughter. So what I am saying, is if you go to Hawksworth- have fun, smile and enjoy. Sure it is not cheap by any means. But it is an experience , that if you are open to will exceed your expectations. / Instagram @newredlawyer
Very disappointed Received a gift card to go for dinner as a wedding present. Waiter chased us after we paid and told us not to leave until he confirmed there was money on the gift card. The main course was well prepared and was tasty but definitely wouldn't return after the poor service and embarrassment of being chased by our waiter.
Came in today for Brunch and had amazing service and great food. The only reason it misses the 5star rating is the menu is a little too expensive for the quality and portion sizes. The price tag really sets my expectations high.
The squash was amazing in my opinion! Both fishes were a little dry but taste great
Went for brunch today with my parents and husband. The greater gave off a vibe of not wanting to accommodate us. Granted we did not have a resorvation, but it seemed like seeing if she could seat us some how was too difficult of a task for her. After 5 minutes of her seeming confused she offered to seat us in the lounge which we accepted. Had she explained the restaurant was full her behaviour would have made more sense. Our server was nice and professional and very personable. The food however was subpar for the price.
It was OK but also a bit of a weird experience, I came in for a drink and perhaps a snack, sat at the bar where a very competent bartender made me some excellent cocktails - but then this very aggressive server kept demanding to know if I had made up my mind on food yet like this was a Husky Truck Stop - then I saw her chase a dude into the washroom because he was not wearing a mask so tack is not her strong suit. Great atmosphere, great cocktails, weird service.
Ordered their Lobster tail and the octopus for starter and it was absolutely incredible. I enjoyed every bite of my meal and the service was top notch!
The food wasn’t good at all. This is a poorly managed establishment.
A lunchtime lobster roll and French rose ????. Lunch time rush with hotel guests and business lunches. Lobster was fresh, delicate and refreshing -- very filling for a small roll. Chips were high in salt and oil.
My all time best in Vancouver. Consistently creative, exploratory, and amazingly delicious. Only found equals touring in Europe at 2+ star Michelin restaurants.
This is a grand dining room in the Hotel Georgia that does upscale dining in a big way. It's also served with flair but without any pretention...the service is top notch but without any fake airs. The food...astoundingly good. All of the dishes are so unbelievably remarkable. And the room itself is so upscale and has a vibrant energy. Though we enjoy so many of the more innovative and contemporary fusion restaurants Vancouver had to offer, this is a very relevant offering on the Vancouver dining scene that will never grow old.
Had the charcuterie platter, duck salad, and sablefish. Food was flawlessly executed, except that the sourdough bread on the platter was a bit on the over toasted/burnt side. Overall, however, I was disappointed with the lack of creativity on the menu. Seeing a burger and chicken supreme on the dinner menu was disappointing, along with the rest of the uninspiring dishes. If Hawksworth wants to maintain status as a premier dining experience, they need to stop pandering the menu to the mainstream and start getting creative again (like I remember from last time I dined there a couple years ago)
Came here as my sister was visiting town. The servers and their in-house sommelier are incomparable. One of the best services we´ve had. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings and it was all unbelievable very different plates with a lot of complexity and flavors, we both enjoyed it and came out of the restaurant very full. The wine pairings were outstanding and I loved how they take the time to explain each dish and wine glass. One star less for the professionalism of their hostess. I am not sure if it is because we looked younger than the crowd in the restaurant but upon arrival she indicated there were no tables for another hour and a half - understandable. So I checked online and was able to reserve a table for 30 minutes later. Not sure if she even bothered checking.
The best wine pairing, best sommelier, best service and James drive us back to our hotel in their hotel Bentley, we were pampered to death
Unfortunately the quality of the food was substandard by any stretch. The so called wild Salmon was fishy smelling and turns out wasn't wild as advertised. Portion wise, I left hungry. Being a group function our host was out a huge amount for a very poor showing.
Went here for Thanksgiving dinner and the food and service was great! Would definitely recommend. Food tasted delicious. It was 3 courses and we also each ordered an oyster with caviar to taste. I don’t fine dine often so I was happy with the serving sizes even if they look small from pictures, ended up taking some carrots for takeaway ????
Paid $30 for a burger on a very dry, borderline stale bun. It was not enjoyable unfortunately. My friend and I both ordered burgers as we were on the hunt for the best burger in town. We had had much higher expectations of the quality control.
Love the room, the food and the service. Truly iconic restaurant yet comfortable. Highest levels of quality anywhere. Suitable for either great night out for couples, friends or business dinners.
We came here for our 1 year anniversary, and it was possibly the best meal we've ever had. Food was excellent, service was top notch, setting was lovely. Staff were knowledgeable about where the food came from, and got answers from the chef for some of our tougher questions. Naturally, it's not a cheap place, but it was so good, other expenses in our lives are now compared to how many Hawksworth dinners we could have had :)
Had a wonderful meal for our last night in Vancouver. Bertrand was truly wonderful and provided excellent service. The Pork Belly and Scallops was a great dish with a good mix of textures and flavors while still being balanced. The desserts …
Our server was incredible - his attention to detail and recommendations were fabulous. The food was incredible and the sommelier picked out the perfect pairings for us. They went above and beyond for our anniversary and we’ll be making it a tradition for sure!
Spectacular meal; best we've had in Vancouver. If you truly appreciate the craft and hours of preparation and training that go into an (arguably) Michelin level meal, this is worth it. Had the foie gras and scallops to start, the veal and lobster for mains and the lemon and sweet potato/chocolate desserts.
Really enjoyed our lunch here. Really excellent food and service. Well worth visiting.
Love it here. A definite favorite.
Was visiting Vancouver for business meeting along with my wife and made a booking for Friday evening. Heard good things about the restaurant and invited my business partner along with his wife and teenage son to join us. Should have known to leave the restaurant after we got seated at a bar waiting for our table to be ready. Reservation was for 19:30 and we got seated at 20:50. Nobody would give us an update on when our table would be ready and one of the staff even told us “if you don’t like it, feel free to leave”. Arrogant and rude. We decided to stick it out as we wouldn’t be able to get a table anywhere this late on a Friday evening. Food was average but we were in no mood to judge the food after that introduction to what was supposed to be a high-end establishment. Definitely won’t be back.
Pretty amazing food, environment is a tiny bit noisy, especially considering the price you paid. I went with one of my friend for the brunch, we ordered one salmon bagel, one burger as the main, one sturgeon, and I steal with 5 slices of meat. At the end, two dessert, costs us 160 CAD!! Be prepared, dinner is more expensive, but food is certainly not bad:))
Hawksworth review for Dec 25 dinner and Dec 27 breakfast. We had it two disappointing experiences with this normally excellent restaurant. On Chistmas night, two of us had the chicken with polenta cake dinners. The chicken was perfectly cooked, obviously sous vide, but very bland and rather tasteless. Of course no salt on the table. The polenta cakes had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp since the early seating and were dried out in the extreme. Admittedly we were at the last service of the night on a holiday but a little sauce or something over the whole thing would have been a great improvement to the flavor. Our other diners had the brisket which they said was excellent and the ravioli which was hot and fresh at least. Thinking it was just an off night because it was Christmas evening we went back for breakfast 2 days later. Although seated immediately it took 15 or 20 minutes to order even coffee and tea which were cold, and then over an hour for our food to arrive. The cheese and apple omelets were cold as was the Benedict with the hollandaise congealed. Only the potatoes were warm. Coffee and tea water were both cold or tepid. All of the staff were very friendly, but they seemed extremely inexperienced and never said "sorry it took so long" or acknowledged there was a problem athough when 1 of our party asked, several times to have her coffee warmed up one young guy mentioned they were having trouble with their coffee machine pointing at a truck outside that said expresso repairs. Not sure why that would mean regular coffee or water for tea were cold, but he was trying. Maybe this was just an unusual occurrence because of the holidays, but I have eaten at this restaurant before on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day boxing day morning and never had this kind of experience before. Perhaps Hawksworth is slipping in preference to Nightengale where we dined late on Xmas eve and on Christmas night in 2018. Despite the holidays and it obviously heavily worked staff, the food was excellent both times and every other time I've eaten there. Sad about Hawksworth as I've been a fan since West. I love the Hotel Georgia, but we will be eating our breakfast and dinners elsewhere when visiting there in the future. Hoping our experience was just an aberration.
Delicious food, amazing service and a friendly staff. We let them know we were celebrating our anniversary when we made the booking and they went out of their way to help us make the night special.
I've worked in some great high-end, fine-dining restaurants, and as a guest I can honestly say Hawksworth's has been one of my best experiences to date. Our server Bertrand was excellent and very personable, our sommelier and wine steward incredibly well-versed and knowledgeable, and all the service staff were accommodating and friendly - it exceeded my expectations. I have been there before and everything seems to have improved - and it was very good to start with. The food was creative and tasty- we had the 6 course tasting menu - with brave and interesting choices both in the flavour profiles and in wine pairings; I did not expect to be a fan of halibut ceviche but it was extraordinary. I wasn't a huge fan of the sea urchin itself but the combination of foods it was presented with were exceptionally well married, and while I will likely never seek it out again due simply to the texture of the uni, it was very tasty indeed - and the sake pairing was a great choice. I expected to be hungry after the six course but was actually quite the opposite - not able to completely finish the rabbit course nor dessert; though I gave it a good effort (especially with the dessert) as it was so delicious. Thank you everyone at Hawksworth - you made my dinner - and my mom's 65th birthday - a real treat!
Time to increase the options on beers. Excellent wine selection and drinks, but beer is on the side. There are a lot of good options on the beer world to pair with the food served at Hanksworth - barrel aged beers and sours beers. Of course that will also depend on the demand from customers... For the food, Im a Brazilian living in Canada (Toronto) for 2.5 years, this was one of the best criative food I have ever had until now in Canada, congrats! Im visiting other restaurants in Vancouver, hope to be at the same levels as you!
This restaurant is alright, it's located inside the hotel which was beautiful inside! So I had high expectations however the food didn't impress me whatsoever. The food I ordered was sub-par , I was really disappointed in my salmon. The only good thing about this place was my dessert, it was chocolate on top of chocolate and then some. Can't go wrong with chocolate! My dislike for my meal was made up with my dessert. - A Hottie Eatz Review
We had an absolutely magical evening at Hawksworth. I hosted a private meeting in the BelCafe and I couldn't be happier with how everything came together. Marlen was so amazing in orchestrating this event and making sure we met all the attendees needs. Her communication was incredibly thorough and oozed competence. The service was impeccable and Vin met all of the groups needs (which were many). We were all incredibly impressed and we can't wait to have a meeting at Hawksworth again. Thank you so much to everyone on the team!
Award-winning food. Great attention to detail and amazing service. Dinner menu is rotational and small selection but it features and showcases BC products. Definitely worth a visit. Not crazy expensive.
We had an amazing experience here. I highly recommend eating here.
It was literally PERFECT, AMAZING experience!! I highly recommend. All of the foods are amazing with wonderful wine choices. It's worth it. Thank you so much. It was a wonderful experience. One of the best restaurants in Canada.
Top notch service and atmosphere. Loved the veal tenderloin and lobster as main dish and the scallop as appetizer. The hamachi appetizer was lacking flavor and the fish was not very fresh. Also, the number of items on the menu is very limited, everything on one page. It's a shame they don't have a longer menu or we'd definitely be visiting again very soon.
The burger was really tasty and well done. The lounge had a very pleasant ambiance.
There are not many restaurants in Vancouver where the dining experience is as well refined. The atmosphere is welcoming and the service all smiles. I had the set menu with wine pairing, while it was quite delectable, the à la carte options that were chosen by the others at the table, in my opinion were much more impactful in terms of taste and presentation. The sommelier that did the wine pairing was very friendly and actually enhanced the experience with his knowledge and tidbits. Where the evening really shined were the desserts, the pastry chef outdid himself, out of the five desserts that we tried, no faults could be found. Absolute deliciousness!
Best omelette I have ever had. Really creamy and soft and cooked to its perfection. 1. Great food choices 2. Excellent service 3. Calm ambience. Loved it. Would highly recommend.
This restaurant has a nice atmosphere, fine dining ambiance, great service, well-developed menu and extensive wine list. The disappointing part is the food, and the wait time for the food. I’ve ordered the dish that was on special. The fish was overwhelmingly salty, not to the point when you can’t even eat it, but I did not enjoy it, it was okay let’s leave it at that. I would probably send it back if I had time to stay longer. My partner ordered carrot soup, which tasted nice, and it came with some sort of breaded balls on the side, they were pretty much salt bombs. The other appetizer that we ordered was crispy rice with tuna on top I believe. It was actually really good. It feels like someone in the kitchen just accidentally put an immense amount of salt in some dishes. The food is hit or miss.
Excellent staff and service - sommeliers wine suggestion was perfect. Delicious, well crafted meals and inexpensive considering the quality of the restaurant. Great dessert and cocktails.
Best food ever. The dessert is delicious and not overly sweet. Every food in this restaurant blends; the food melts in your mouth. For the dessert, I definitely recommend the match spring pea, or what it is called; for appetizer, I recommend the squid; and for the main course, definitely, try the lobster tail.
Food and service is fantastic. Everyone congratulated us on our 10 year anniversary and they gave us a more intimate table and some snacks to bring home. The seasonal tasting menu was amazing 8ng as usual.
Friendly and helpful staff. We went for lunch and the restaurant was full. We were led to the lounge area which is very cosy. The lunch set was inexpensive and the food was delicious!
Hawkworth remains the ONLY restaurant in Vancouver that I enjoy visiting without any regrets at all. I love the ambience, I love the attention to detail. I feel spoiled by the service and although it's expensive, it's worth evety penny.
Well, if you dont want unvaccinated people in your place - Let it be so!!! Me and my pregnant wife not coming. Good luck to you and your business !!!
Excellent food at good value, relaxing and upscale ambience and decor, attentive and courteous service, our server Alex is great. Must try as one of the best Vancouver culinary experience!
Unbelievable dining experience that was well worth the elevated $$$. Ultracool decor, unpretentious and extremely attentive staff. Unparalleled service. Best dessert I've ever had in my life.
The best. Always enjoy going there. Awesome local food. Great cocktails. Very professional and friendly service. Food is simply amazing.
Great experience at Hawksworth , service was great , the food was delicious , I had the lamb perfectly cooked to my liking, , it was a very pleasant time with my wife & friends.
Great experience and staff, the food wasn't particularly tasty
Fabulous birthday dinner. Excellent food and great wine recommendation. Good cocktails too.
Good visual plating, great service - the sommelier was not very helpful with the wine options.
Very overpriced mediocre food. The restaurant must be surviving because of fake, foolish, or old reviews. Extremely small servings. It's no exaggeration to say I could spend 300$ and not be full. The food was unremarkable and a complete letdown - a cheap 9$ pho bowl at a good pho place is more filling than 100$ of dishes here, and 100 times more appetizing. My 80+ year old grandmother cooks better. The one bright side was the friendly server.
This by far superseded my exceptions. It’s hard to find a great restaurant with cutting edge food, hospital service (from Patrick) and comfortable seating. It’s completely make sense why they are growing and now serving business class air canada and soon will have a restaurant in YVR.
The tasting menu was divine and made memorable by Cooper's phenomenal ability to pair the cocktails perfectly. The first restaurant that was happy to swap out a wine pairing for creative, sophisticated cocktails. My best dining experience in Vancouver so far.
My partner and I dined at Hawksworth on Valentine’s Day. We both ordered the chef’s tasting menu and wine pairing. The dining room is beautiful. Tasteful furniture and decor. The wine list is excellent - good breadth of wines. The food was competently cooked, but not particularly delicious. Overall, we felt it lacked creativity, originality, and soul. It was… a little boring.
Food and service is excellent, I really enjoyed my time there and so did my clients, the pairing of wine to different meals blended so well and being in the downtown hub everything was so convenient for my clients. A good place for a great evening, business or personal.
Some dishes are spectacular. Some were just underwhelming (for the price), or maybe my palate isn’t refined enough. Service was a little slow even though the restaurant didn’t seem particularly busy.
Oh boy, I can't tell you how happy we were after eating here. We left it late to plan our wedding anniversary and they set us up the night before. Have to say the staff were amazing and the food was top class.. And of course with the covid social distancing rules it just felt more intimate and relaxing. Looking forward to coming back!
Amazing food. Great Ambiance. Excellent service.
10/10 experience! Great food and service is always amazing .
So good. Been here twice now. Service is on point. Best food in Vancouver. Candy Cap Ice Cream is legendary. Must try.
I am not giving this restaurant either a good or bad review, because I did enjoy the overall experience. I booked a table here to show some out of country guests a very nice & typical Vancouver dining experience. Reviews overall rated Hawksworth as the best 'all around' dining experience. Service was very good upon arrival and throughout the meal. Almost too good as I felt it to be intrusive and at times annoying. We had a good sommelier with very nice and affordable wine suggestions. As an appetizer I had a sushi grade tuna, yummy. A nice combo of flavours with a little jalapeño heat coming through. My friends had pan seared foi gras, they enjoyed it....but when we asked for some "fleur de sel" we got "sea salt" instead. The main course I had Halibut, the dish was cold, and boring to taste. It was a lot prettier to look at. The server offered to change my dish, I refused as we were already half way through our meal. My friend's sable fish was much better tasting. Dessert was my favourite, a 'chocolate fondant'...it was called "fondant", but there was no fondant; I would have called it a "Praline". Still, it was the best part of my dinner. We got some free macaroons to compensate for my cold fish, I wish they had not because the macaroons were not my favourite. The good news we didn't feel like we overpaid
The bartenders could be a little more friendly.. Other then that the food was amazing, service was good at the table, prices are more but it's' a nicer place! The group we were with all enjoyed themselves.
What a spectacular place to celebrate. The meal, service, ambiance and music were all phenomenal. I am so glad we chose Hawksworth for a birthday meal.
Last visit to Vancouver.. Ziggy Marley's concert 2017 I joined friends in the lounge, I've been to Hawksworth on several occasions to chill in the lounge have a few martinis.. great service.. cozy classy place!
One of the best restaurants in Vancouver!
Amazing service and the ingredients they used were so fresh! Extremely delicious. Definitely worth a try and would go back again :)
One of the worst fine dining experiences. Food was awful - lacked flavour and there was nothing to it. My boyfriend and I ordered a variety of dishes and everything fell short. Only fine dining aspect was small portions of food. Wouldn't reccomend this place. Also, felt very misled because we thought this was in fact one of the best restaurants in Vancouver. Turns out they sponsor a ton of those lists and wouldn't otherwise be there. Addition: Management read my review and found my contact information to apologize for my experience. They provided a full refund. Customer service doesn't get better than that. Thank you.
Wonderful meal in a cozy, yet vibrant atmosphere. I tried one of their specials, duck, and it was possibly one of the best duck dishes I've ever had. The other members of my group had the beef short ribs and scallops with pork belly and these dishes were excellent as well. Desserts were nicely presented and delicious as well. For appetizers we shared their beets salad and special pasta. Both were excellent but my only wish would be to have a few more beets on the plate as the serving size was very small! Service was excellent and friendly. Overall excellent experience.
Courteous staff, delicious food and drinks, and comfortable atmosphere. Very happy to have finally tried this place! Will return again.
Great good, great service. Our main server was Erene and she was awesome! The company was wonderful! Food was filling. Ordered Ginger Buck for a drink - was good but way too bitter for my taste. A little syrup turned it over.
2015.04.12: Both the food and the service were only good, not great. And it was fairly expensive (although not too bad compared to the San Francisco area). We had the duck breast and the venison as entrees, and I can't even remember the appetizers. It was all good, but fairly bland. Even a bit more salt would have helped. One thing that was really good was the presentation--the food all looked very good on the plates. In short, the price here is $$$$, but I've had better food at $$$ places. If the price here were $$$, I would have given it 4 stars.
Fabulous restaurant. So far my favorite in the city. Pretty close to Bauhaus in food inventiveness but service and feel was a step up. Did the chefs menu and split a wine pairing. They served up excellent, amberjack, halibut, pheasant, four gras, and pork based dishes. For desert a delicious ice cream with macaroon crumbles. Each dish was well paired with white wines (Riesling), whiskey, or some red wine (blend, Nebbiolo). Very nice. Service was impeccable. We really appreciated the "anniversary" inscription on the desert. Made it a special event for us.
Consistently good service, good food and nice cocktails. Recommended for special occasions.
Top notch wine service with a dazzling selection of food. I really enjoyed the Waygu burger with frites, ask for extra mayo though. They cooked it to a perfect medium as requested and did not keep me waiting either! This place really sets the gold standard for service in North America, they will take care of you no matter how bad your day has been. It's like Cheers but with good food and a lot more disposable income
Located in Hotel Georgia, attached to the Forbes Five Star hotel is this outstanding restaurant. There is certainly a reason why it was voted #1 in Vancouver. From greetings to goodbyes, each server was extremely attentive. The food was absolutely phenomenal, special note to our server Bertrain, he was very knowledgeable with the menu and recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience.
I say 'special occasion' because Hawksworth will set you back a few kopecks. For those memorable occasions though, it's nice to create memories with the delectable, beautiful dishes that come out of this outstanding kitchen. The menu is seasonal, a lot of the ingredients are locally sourced. But it's the preparation, the creativity of the blended flavours, the outstanding presentation and plating.... What a performance. Very nice ambience and décor - great central location. And excellent serving staff who know just what to say... and when to fade into the background.
I thought the food was really delicious but the portions are very small. Our waitress wasn't very friendly. Originally they also wanted to move us for dessert as there was another group coming and it had only been about 2 hours. After we ordered a $600 bottle of wine, they stopped pestering us. I found this to be a bit unprofessional. We thought 3 hours for a meal for a group of 6 was fairly reasonable.
Went here long time ago but just had the time to review it! I personally love the place and the food and especially the dessert! Not for brunch though! Come here and bring your date totally recommended!
I was looking for a great hamburger spot in Vancouver, and this one, trusting the reviews, was a good one. The restaurant is located inside the Georgia Hotel, and is pretty chic and fancy. The hamburger was okay, nothing extraordinary, except the price, an hamburger and a smoothie, 30$, but I already knew it before entering
I had the burger for lunch. Objectively it was a very good burgwr but for some reason it didn't connect with me in the way I thought it would. No desire to eat it again like I would some other burgers. Weird.
Great first time experience. Went on a weekday to celebrate a birthday, so it was very quiet. Server and hostess were pleasant and attentive. Everyone respected social distancing and wore masks even kitchen staff. Food and cocktails were great. Provided a sorbet for my GF’s birthday because she is lactose intolerant. Overall good experience will revisit.
Went there for date last night, our experience was great!!! Amazing service, our waiter Erik was so helpful, beyond and over, stunning food, nice, for sure we will come back and enjoy another time!!!
July 1st was our 1st anniversary so wanted to dine at this restaurant. We reserved a table 2 weeks ago with a special request "A table on a quiet side". When we arrived on time (6pm), a receptionist greeted us and checked all the booking details. After that she said "Happy anniversary" to us and took us to a table inside. And guess what...it was a table right next to a washroom. There were plenty of other nice and quiet tables available at that time and we were still introduced to the table right next to the washroom even we reserved a table in advance. The worst part was, our next table was occupied by 4 obnoxious patrons chatting really loud. I was really upset, so I spoke to a manager right away if we can move to another table. So we were moved to a quiet table in the corner. But our feeling was already ruined. My wife was really upset too. Also, while we were having our meal there, we were shocked to see that the receptionist was separating the seating. She separated all Asians/Indians to one side of the area and all Caucasians to the other side. I'm really interested to know if she was trained by Hawksworth to allocate the tables/seats depends on the skin color/racial origin. It's really sad to see that the racial discrimination is still being practiced at Hawksworth. Long story to short, we wasted our time and money at Hawksworth. Thanks for giving us unforgettable memories on our 1st Anniversary.
Coming in from out of province with a reservation for weeks, and call last minute to tell us we’ve been bumped? Awful customer service. Feel like I’m in a Seinfeld episode. What’s the point of having a reservation? Never wanting to dine here again.
Vancouver city is blessed with abundance of food places including some top chef/michelin award winner fine dinning restaurants like “hawksworth”. Chef david hawksworth planted his lavish restaurant inside the immaculate lobby of rosewood georgia hotel, vancouver( very accessible n easy to find) As usual parking is on the road so better walk here from nearby parking lots. We got lucky to get parking right around the corner???? Warm and inviting ushers/hosts take ur name down to check ur reservations n then ur coats if u wanna hang them safe. We did the same and got our token number. A lady guided us to our table and along the way , we were greeted by most of the staff members in a welcoming manner. The moment we sat down to observe the ambiance, i really liked the well layed cutlery on the tables, many staff members standing probably to keep check of their respective tables assigned. A beautiful big painting of a book cover was eye catching. Dim lights and modern decor just finished the touches of fine dine restaurant. Menu was full of globe spanning list of liquor like wines, champagne, whiskeys, vodka, rum, italian vermouth n angostura( some base of herb n spices). So let me tell you that a drink called “indulgent Manhattan” worth $125 will hit you in seconds. (Its sour though n its just 3 oz). I dont know why but our server asked us twice if we wanted that drink worth $125? I would say maybe we got to dress little more expensive to proof our wealth/ money honey???? Fine dinning here doesn’t mean tiny portions just to make the plate dirty but actually serves the purpose- hunger. Menu is definitely fine tuned every now and then to bring new additions of local and seasonal ingredients. Winter BC jan menu page had very interesting choices but we sticked to our vegetarian options only. Surprise there were some. Our brussal sprouts appetizer was very very delicious with a tinch of sweetness( maybe maple syrup). Salad with chickpeas was quite fulfiling . Duck breast was well cooked as i suggested. I am sure we ordered brassica as our main course instead we got something else but my BF doesn’t like to create a scene so he had the vegetarian bowl which was fried brocolli n other veggies in a very tangy sauce. ( that took the 5th star away)
What a wonderful restaurant experience it was... probably due to the celebrity sitting next to us that evening as well... Decor: luxurious... one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been inside. Food: wow... perfect appetizer: hamachi sashimi with passion fruit puree. It was nice and light. the duck breast and fois gras was out of this world melt in your mouth, was missing my starch though as the food was a touch salty. bf had the sturgeon, really nice. dessert: lemongrass sorbet, milk froth, biscuits.. delicate and light, tantalizing, and not too sweet, in the perfect proportion. Bf had the Eagle rare 17 and I had their signature Hotel Georgia cocktail then a couple glasses of excellent dry Hungarian white wine... all excellent with the food. Service: Excellent- the staff are happy to serve you. Our server was elegant and graceful without being snooty, provided great suggestions, busy but made us feel very well taken care of. Overall experience: Expect to be wowed...I cannot wait to come back!
We had a great time! Delicious food, leisurely atmosphere. Tasting menu and wine flight were excellent.
Had dinner here and everything I ate was fantastic. The KFC is delicious and their burgers live up to the hype. I might try cocktail hour next time when it's not a special occasion since the value is good.
staff is rude and this is the most unaccommodating restaurant I've ever been to. this is 2021.. DO BETTER
After a long day of work we decided to take our bicycles for a ride and pick up some take out this evening to support Mr. Hawksworth and went over to Coal Harbour to enjoy this lovely meal..we absolutely looooved the Israeli Couscous tabouleh salad!! That was our favorite!! But overall everything was wonderful for our little picnic.. the hostess was soo nice too! We will be back soon! I really hope all the best to this restaurant and hopefully they can survive the pandemic so we can always come back here. All the best Hawksworth and his lovely staff!
Have to start by saying that this was my favorite restaurant in Vancouver. I had their tasting menu in 2018 ("a journey through BC") and it blew my expectations out of the water. Now there's no more tasting menu, and the food choices are something more like a steakhouse, than a refined restaurant. I was particularly unlucky with my choices too (but with such a small menu all the choices should be good, e.g. see St Lawrence or Kissa Tanto): the chicken I had as a main was soulless, not an ounce of flavor in it, and the truffle fries well... even worse. They had zero flavor, like boiled potatoes and had some sprinkles of truffle on top to "season". That was it. Like Five Guys make better fries. The sorbetto was not good either, the cookie dough ice cream was especially bad. Had big grainy blocks in it, that I haven't had even in commercial production ice cream. Also, from an Italian, please visit Italy and learn what an actual sorbetto is. It is to be served as a drink. To top that, the server was slow, weird and showed that he didn't care, by asking for feedback and leaving a second after. I'm gonna be voting with my wallet and never come back.
Had high expectations but this resteraunt was below grade.
Great atmosphere - excellent service. Food was another level - otherworldly dessert - high end but worth every penny :)
I don't feel inclusive here. This place discriminates against my health condition. Stay away. It's 2021 for pete's sake!
First class food and service! The duck breast was amazing with the mix of purees and lentils. My wife had the salmon dish which was nice and moist but skin was perfectly crispy. Priced accordingly ????
The burger was really tasty and well done. The lounge had a very pleasant ambiance.
Lovely restaurant which is a bit of a treat to me - they have possibly the best burger in town too though only at lunchtime.
Went to Hawksworth for the first time with some friends for a nice dinner. We had originally had a reservation for later in the evening but staff said they would let us know if anything opened up earlier, which they did. There was a bit of miscommunication once we got to the front desk, but we got our table. Even though we were out on the patio, it was nice and shaded and they provided us with lots of water. Our food was great, the only part I was disapointed by was the truffle fries. I understand truffles can get expensive, but I expected more of a... truffle-y experience. We just got regular fries with a tiny amount of truffle shavings and chives on top for $18. I got the same amount of fries with my well-cooked and fluffy bun-ned burger for $25 total. Otherwise, our waitress whom I did not get the name of (she had box braids and wore a tie) was so kind and I left a large tip. Hopefully that made her and the other waitstaff's night. Good experience but maybe skip truffle fries, huge disappointment. Great otherwise
Superb service, atmosphere, food presentation and flavors as you would expect from this fine dining establishment.
We went for a special family event and were so happy that er did. We were all treated like movie stars / royalty . We had a wonderful experience .
Been here a couple times now. The food is well presented with lots of different flavours combined. The service is very good. It is a bit expensive so best for special occasion.
Went here for their lunch set menu with wine pairings. The food was excellent, the wine worked very well with each course, and the service was excellent. Overall, we were very happy with our meal and the price was very fair for what we got.
The food here is amazing... the KFC, burgers and their weekend brunch!! OMG YUMMY!! If you are cheap like me, you will find it very over priced though ???? Specially when you pay $24 for three 3-4 inch sourdough pancakes!
Hats off to manager Josh that went over and above to recover my tarnished experience at Hawksworth and maintain their reputation, gpe your back gets better soon. Jenna, you a Rockstar how you too care of me and the entire room. You are a unicorn server and VERY long time sunce I tipped or received service that deserve 25%.
5 star dining at its finest. My partner and I came in just before New Years for a celebration of 2021 dinner and had the pleasure of being served by Jenna. She was very personable, energetic, pleasant and although she had several tables on the go I had an empty glass or had to chase another waitress down. Every need I had was catered to and she was also very helpful in deciding what to order off the menu. As a treat she gave us delicious macrons as a thank you for coming in which was so nice of her! I will definitely be back! Fingers crossed she serves us again.
Beautiful restaurant located in the heart of the city. They have a great bar and a really good dinner menu as well. I found the hostess and wait staff to be very attentive and knowledgeable. Great place for a date night or even a corporate dinner with clients/partners. It is a little on the expensive side, but you pay for what you get. Food quality and ambiance were excellent. Highly recommended.
From beginning (greeted by a very pleasant staff member named Jessica) to the end, my birthday lunch today was an amazing culinary experience, served by Matt! His suggestions for lunch were right on the mark! From the pink elephant martini to the the raw oyster starters to the raviola stuffed with crab and lobster and covered in a most delicious sauce! Followed by two mouth watering desserts and a desert wine/light port that was outstanding! Bottom line - highly recommend for lunch and my lunch date attested to similar experiences for dinners. A must for your next restaurant outing! Will be returning soon.
We came here for a birthday dinner back in July and I must say, covid protocols could have been done better. There were way too many people walking by our table without masks and speaking loudly to each other. When the restaurant reopens, please take out more tables and request patrons to wear a mask at all times until they are seated at their tables. The food was great though - we especially enjoyed the cocktails and mocktails. Very creative and very delicious. Would recommend their burger with fois gras.
I had such high expectations for the dinner in the restaurant tonight but the experience was really disappointing!!! The food was just okay, nothing amazing and worth the hype. Not to mention that the service is just horrible! Our server was simply rude! His voice was so low that nobody can hear him clearly. Then he had no patience with our questions. When I asked about the parfait, what he said was it’s just a parfait... what kind of answer was that! Overall his attitude was arrogant and rude. The experience was so poor that I am not coming back for dinning anytime soon!
Wow, that was spectacular all the way around. The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful. We had tasting menu which was incredible from the start to end. The mixologist was able to pair cocktails with the course menu which not many Vancouver restaurants are able to do. This is definitely one of the best Vancouver special occasion restaurants.
Food: excellent. Service: not so much. The quality of the product coming from the kitchen is superb, but the wait staff continually interrupted our conversation, and left me sitting without a drink for 30 minutes- I had to flag the maitre'd and ask for service. Yet when the staff do speak they seem to fawn, while at the same time they also mumble. Needs improvement. Also: space is loud.
The tasting menu with beverage pairings was outstanding. My group’s dietary restrictions were varied, but all were well accommodated. The service was excellent. I would definitely return.
Had the prix fixe menu for lunch and was impressed by the generous portions. Excellent service, as well.
Amazing food, had a perfectly cooked duck breast and ribs and mushroom risotto for appetizers. Sommelier had fantastic recommendations to go with the food and or server, Eric, was helpful and friendly
Delicious but the night we went was so busy it was a bit slow. Otherwise rather awesome. Best soup and desserts too.
Travelled from Toronto to try their tasting menu, made reservations 2 months ahead of time only to come into the restaurant and be told that they were unable to offer the tasting menu due to issues with being short-staffed. Gave us a very poor impression right off the bat, especially for a restaurant of this tier. Ended up ordering a la carte. Appetizers were mediocre but mains were extremely well made. Would have enjoyed the tasting menu much more but the mains somewhat made up for the shortcomings.
What an experience enjoying the tasting menu. We have never had such an interesting culinary adventure. Each of the dishes was very well presented and tasted amazing. Before we began enjoying the meal our waiter gave a wonder explanation of the treat we were in for. The dishes were epic perhaps not the greatest in our lives but to have such a variety of ingreadients presented in such a sophisticated manner is unlike no other meal we have had before. A once in a life time experience.
I've eaten here many times before and loved it for the top-notch food, lovely ambience, and impeccable service. I recommend it to everyone as my favourite restaurant. However, my experience today at brunch was disappointing. My friend ordered the hamburger -- medium. When it arrived, it was very under-cooked, quite rare. There was no way she was going to eat it. Just looking at it made both of us squeamish. When she asked our server if that was considered "medium", he said no, and he said he would deal with it. Then a different server came and took away the burger, but he left the fries behind. I was eating my meal while she waited quite a while for another hamburger to return. We both assumed she would get fresh, hot fries with the new burger, but that's not the case. So now she had a well-cooked hamburger but cold fries and she had to eat alone as I was already finished my meal. Our original server did not come back to check if she was satisfied with her meal. We were surprised to see that there was no compensation on the bill for the inconvenience. When my friend asked the server if there was anything they could do to make up for the fact that the dining experience had been sub-par, the server was defensive and put the blame on my friend for not ordering her meat properly. We reminded him that the other server had agreed that the meat was indeed not "medium" as it was served. He finally came back with a "friends and family" discount--of $5! On a $105 bill! What a joke. Very disappointed in the Hawksworth today for the overall inattentive service and lack of initiative in making their patrons feel satisfied with the dining experience.
I like dressing up as a Manhattan socialite á la "Gossip Girl" style and going here. Gives me a sense of "je ne sais quoi" . C'EST LA VIE! That's on ufomaria ????????????????????????????????????
Interesting Chicken Sandwich. Really good. Lobster Salad is a must try as well. Well crafted cocktails.
Good atmosphere and good food or staff. Always a pleasure to go there.
First time here. The service was excellent but the food was below expectation. I had the chicken and I totally felt like something was missing from the flavour. Perhaps not enough salt? Not sure. Portion was alright.
Service
Well executed meal. A bit pretentious in the dining room. We got the tasting menu. A little bit slow from course to course. Definitely recommend going for a special occasion.
It's not the first time I've been here. they are getting better and better
Great food great place and ambiance... Only issue is portions are extremely small for the price... I don't eat a lot in a single sitting normally but after having the striploin I didn't feel like it was nearly enough at all
First time having brunch at noon time. Taste fantastic!
Exceptional service - I believe her name was Jenna? Worked in the bar with tattoos and braided hair. Very professional and bubbly! She made our experience worthwhile while the food was subpar. We hope she receives the praise that she deserves. For the food, the presentation was phenomenal. Unfortunately, the baby back ribs were unreasonably dry. The charcuterie board by itself would not be a wise choice. Thanks to Jenna(?) her addition of brie triple cream, sharp cheddar, and blue cheese with marmalade on the side was a great addition to the charcuterie. The Alberta beef steak tartare was well received by my partner but I believe it could have been improved on for flavouring. For drinks as well, the signature drink "wa-Hawk-ah!" tasted as a negroni than any resemblance of a mezcal-based drink. However, the pink elephant was well received.
Service here was absolutely splendid. High props to the team! COVID protocols were performed. Spaced diners, RSVP, hand sanitizer, servers wear masks, one way flow through 1 door out the other.
Every time in Vancouver, I look forward to visiting the place. Fabulous food, and even better drinks. If you're into bourbon, this is the place! Oh, have I mentioned the awesome staff all around? Not just at the bar. Also, make sure you ask about the lapel pin! It's like a badge of honor in a way, or a proof of visit... ????
Great value/price for a dine out luncheon experience, excellent service. Every fish was unique, from appetizer, to main course to desserts.
Great serve
best service, for the dishes, i will say it looks beautiful, like an art, and i really dont know what i am eating.... because the food they have is complicated!
Luxury gourmet restaurant & hospitality inside Rosewood Hotel Georgia!! Detailed succulent tasting menu delicious for dinner or special occasion!!!
We were there for lunch time wanted to try the restaurant for a while. We ordered the tasting menu, watercress salad and the halibut. The staff was really friendly and welcoming. Everything was great until the food came up. The gazpacho was really nice and all the components in it was balanced and the flavour was just on point, not too sour and not too salty. On the other hand, the watercress salad dressing was a bit sour than expected. At first the taste bud finds it refreshing and pleasant ,but after a few bite the tongue finds it stingy by the sourness and hard to keep going. The duck in the salad was great, some are crispy some are tender, it’s also sweet and salty so it balanced out the stingy feeling. But still, it’s hard to keep going with the salad. The main course, from the tasting menu, the brisket in the bao, was really salty. We had one bite and both my partner and I looked at each other and said it was too salty. Although they try to give us a new one but we know that it’s from the same batch so the taste will be the same, which was too salty. Other than that we also ordered a halibut. The flavour of the dish was overall nice and the seasoning was great, compare to the brisket it was just perfect. The only thing to say was that the halibut it self was over cooked. From a restaurant like this, we expect perfect doneness on the fish, which should be still tender on the inside when cut it, like soft and a little bouncy. But this halibut was overcooked, so it was just a little hard to eat it and it doesn’t melt in the mouth like it should. Even though the main ingredient in the dish was not too pleasant, the sauce of the dish was delicious. And the vegetables, clams, and mussels are cooked perfectly. Finally, the dessert in the tasting menu was... ok? I would say, nothing fancy for a restaurant like this. In the end, we got the tasting menu for free because it really wasn’t that great. But in my opinion, from a restaurant like this, even for a tasting menu, I would expect more. And even for the regular menu as well. I hope that they will improve the dishes and or recipe so that every dish on the menu will be worth the visit.
For a restaurant that used to be the no.1 restaurant in Vancouver had definitely went down in qualities and value. We had a parties of almost 15-20 guests. Feb 1.2020 at 730pm . It was for both my friends birthday. They booked the reservation almost a month ago. They decided to place us at the B cafe. This side of the restaurant is normally for lunch. Whatever it wasn't too much of a big deal but definitely if we had a choice we would definitely request to sit at the dining side of the restaurant or at least private room upstairs. Since that's what they requested to begin with. We had a set menu of 100 dollar plus gratuity and tax. First thing when I sat down the waiter asked if I wanted a drink. I said water please because I need to drive. Along with my friend whom sat next to me. Gave us attitude as if we are not ordering any alcohol or cocktail beverage. Are you insisting that we should drink and drive? Lmfao It was a three course set menu. Along with the three course we get 3 options of everything. Most of us decided to order the scallop and kale salad. The impression I get now from this restaurant is they focus more on plating rather than on flavor. The scallop had a fishy taste to it. We didn't really enjoy the scallop but the salad turned out to be ok. Main course my buddies and I chose the beef brisket. Knowing the beef brisket is normally a fatty meat. It's really hard to over cook the beef brisket. The beef brisket had an rubbish texture. By the time they served the beef brisket it was around 10 oclock. I was starving by then I break the beef brisket down with my fork and dipped it in the sauce that was plated on my dish. Made my best effort to finish it. Most of my friends didn't even bother finishing it. Some of the girls order the duck and fish and turned out to be meh. It doesn't taste bad but nothing appealing. I wouldn't go Hawksworth just for those two dish. While we were having dinner my other friends continuously ordered bottle of wines ,Hennessy and shots of other hard liquor. When they decide to serve the desserts. It was tasty as well. All of us left the plate almost untouched. The girls were too busy taking pictures and drinking their alcohol. They didn't even ask anyone before they decided to serve the dessert. As if they just wanted us to finish and leave. So when they serve the dessert it was really uncall for. The waiter decided to make a statement to the female waitress. Hoping that we wouldn't hear anything. "Is it part of their culture not to sing". That is discrimination buddy. Then one of our friend decided to suprise the two bday girl with a birthday cake. This guy walk in saying you know if you got a cake you have to let us know before hand. My friend was like I didn't even know we are going to have a cake. The waiter was like. This is wrong, we normally charge 3.50 each person if you were to bring a cake. My friend was like I really didn't know. You never make your guest feel out of place and tell them to admit their wrong for bringing in a cake. If you want to charge just added to our bill. The 3.50 wouldn't discourage us even further to not come to this restaurant again. Such bad service and food quality is so bad for a fine dining restaurant. With no fine dining customer experience. If this is how you guys treat your guests. We will definitely not come back. One last thing they try to scam my buddy one extra bottle of wine. 100-150 dollar and claimed that they might have accidently punch in another bottle since we didn't order all at the same time. He order 3 bottles not 4 but it is our fault again right? Lol they took it off our bill but they didn't even say sorry. The food I would give 2 stars the horrible customer experience (the waiter) minus another star. Honestly Vancouver have a lot of new restaurant highly recommend the Elisa steakhouse food and service is fully on point. Bye Hawksworth we will never go again killed it for me.
One of my 10 top meals ever!** The tasting menu at Hawksworth is simply amazing. It is a tour through the best that British Columbia has to offer. The dishes have been imaginatively created and are delivered to your table with perfection. Every member of Staff that we met were sensational. Each dish had a story and was a delight to enjoy. The restaurant itself is fairly nice, possibly even average decor for an upscale restaurant. However the staff make the experience extraordinary. When we were being distracted by a table of eight people that was fairly loud, they graciously moved us to another, quieter part of the restaurant. The wine matching was sensational and I enjoyed every surprise of the next glass and its matching food. ** I do realise that sometime soon I will have to remove some meals from the top 10 to make room for these new experiences - but that just seems like too much hassle! So the top 10 may actually be a few more than 10 if you have read a number of my reviews.
Visited this restaurant for my anniversary, the service and food was decent even at the high price point. Would definitely recommend to others and go again in the future. Only thing is it is quite small as the dining area is separated in two sections.
The best wine pairing, best sommelier, best service and James drive us back to our hotel in their hotel Bentley, we were pampered to death
I've been here for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, and I was impressed each and every time! The service here is outstanding and their food is always cooked to perfection. The chefs really knows how to plate their entrees well and I feel like even though the decor is very pretentious and extravagant, they are still welcoming to all guests. (True Canadians!)
Definitely does not belong in Vancouver’s top restaurants list. Food is good but not exceptional by any means (my chicken was actually terrible but other dishes were alright). Service hit and miss. Tried to order wine well before our meals and told sommelier would be right over, except he never came and food was dropped off with no follow up for wine/drinks. Not a terrible experience but won’t be back. Not on par with Lift, Joe Fortes, L’Abattoir, etc.
Very nice good fine dining. Wine pairings were dead on.
Get the oysters with blue mountain champagne!
A culinary delight, Hawksworth is easily one of Vancouver's top restaurants. The service is impeccable, the decor and ambiance are cozy, and the food is always delicious. This is one stop you don't want to miss when exploring what Vancouver has to offer.
If your looking for a nice fine dining experience, I highly recommend Hawksworth. The charcuterie platter was really nice.
Everything you would expect from a high end restaurant. The duck was superbly cooked.
Amazing birthday time. It’s like private service.????????
From start to finish service was excellent. Atmosphere was great and food is superb!
Wow! Not as good as I would have thought- not even close. Service was great however. Dining room decor needs an upgrade and food was bland and lack luster- could have had created better flavors at home- sorry guys. Also way under salted .
Very disappointing. Not worth the money. Out of all the food we had, the only good course was dessert. Appetizers and main courses were lacking flavour. Not what it used to be.
Went for a lunch to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Amazing food and top-notch service! Thank you!
Had a early reservation for Halloween, which is also my birthday, great ambiance the drinks and food was sensational and our server, Jenna, was absolutely fantastic, will most definitely come here when I am back in Van City.
The server here was extremely helpful and friendly and the food was delicious. However, I bit into a huge pearl in the clam pasta which soured the experience
Underwhelming—I've heard lots of great thing about this restaurant and was excited to try it out, but our meal fell well short of my expectations. To walk through the evening, we visited on a Sunday, and we're greeted by: no one; the host stand was unattended when we arrived. This was odd considering the number of staff we saw working on the restaurant floor. When we sat down, the sommelier was helpful and gave us a great wine recommendation. We ordered bread with our appetizers, but found it to be hard and stale. The beet salad was good, but the green salad was poorly dressed (clumps of dressing), the dressing was overly seasoned, and the lettuce was wilting at the edges. The main courses were good with the proteins perfectly cooked, but again the dishes were slightly over-seasoned. Overall, the dinner was good, but for the price point, we had expected more.
Lunch
Had a wonderful meal for our last night in Vancouver. Bertrand was truly wonderful and provided excellent service. The Pork Belly and Scallops was a great dish with a good mix of textures and flavors while still being balanced. The desserts were very delicious and may have been even a bit more excellent than the mains. We felt treated to an honest welcoming experience while sharing it with passionate workers. Thank you so much!
Service was amazing, ambience was beautiful. However, sadly the food was not to our taste. Although the dessert was good.
Love this place. Always perfect in every way. The service, the food, wine pairing oh and did I say service. For such an upscale place it is not snooty or pretentious at all. You feel right at home. Great atmosphere. Will be back for sure!!!!
The Lunch Prix Fixe menu is great value for a high-end restaurant like Hawksworth. Three course meal for $28 is a great deal ($44 including wine pairing). Dessert was my favourite (as always) - I was scraping the bowl after the crema catalana - the citrus yuzu flavour balanced out the rich custard deliciously. For your starter & main, you have a choice of two items with a set dessert. For hungrier appetites, adding a side from the ala carte menu is a good idea. The service is personable & attentive. For those wary of the price tag but wanting to give Hawkworth a try, lunch time is a great time to go!
Dined for wedding anniversary. They make you feel pretty special. The acoustics is excellent and very easy to maintain conversation. The cocktails were boozy and one of the best I had in Canada. Would recommend.
Meal type
Everything is always perfect. From your server to the last bite of dessert. Never disappoint.
Had our wedding anniversary dinner at hawksworth. Althought I have been there many times for business lunch but never sit down to enjoy a nice dinner. Professional waiter and sommelier. The food was delicious!! We will come back again for sure!
Service was great. Foods were not fresh and tasted so-so. Restaurant was not that glamorous and elegant. I did’t feel it was upscale or classy except price.
My husband and I went here for the first time on our anniversary. The staff went above and beyond what we expected. The food was amazing, the staff were knowledgeable and very attentive, and the restaurant was very clean. We were very impressed to see the tables and whole chairs being wiped down after each customer. Overall the entire experience was amazing and we would love to go back sometime.
Excellent experience from start to finish. The service was impeccable and the food was creative and succulent. It's not as expensive as one might imagine as well, would give it a shot as a treat for yourself if you want a great dining experience.
Excellent service, excellent food, cozy environment. One of the best restaurant I have dined.
One of the best steaks I have had! The service was incredible and the atmosphere is elegant. Perfect place for a great meal.
Went with my family a couple years ago. Had the most amazing time! From the very beginning it was perfect ???? The food was exceptional, the chef (and I believe owner?) came out to speak with us personally, and everyone was just so wonderful! A million times recommend!!
Dine in
Excellent wedding venue. The ambience, service and food were all top notch
We waited almost 20 minutes to be seated with a reservation at 8:45 for the tasting menu. Once seated, we ordered and our first wine pairing was brought to the table and then we were told that we wouldn’t be able to have the tasting menu since we arrived after 9pm (which we didn’t). The server was dismissive, barely said two words to us, kept making excuses like “oh you should of looked at the website before coming”… we did, and that is why we made reservations for 8:45. I’m a little shocked considering the reputation this restaurant has. We ended up spending around $800 on a lovely meal but to be honest, I’d rather spend that money elsewhere… I’ve had better service and more flexibility at Cactus Club.
Hawksworth Lounge is very, very nice. Bartenders professional and have input in designing featured cocktails.
Staffs are nice, food looks great and yummy. The only reason I am give 2 stars is all of the side dishes that I had were stale and cold. I had "Alberta beef" and the beef itself was amazing, but the side potato was not good at all.
Enjoyed an anniversary dinner here on November 14th. Fantastic food, service and atmosphere.
Exquisite taste, beautiful presentation, charming, attentive, genuine service - ask for Bertrand. His recommendations were perfect!
I've been here a few years back for dinner and enjoyed it so I thought it would be a great idea to turn for brunch. Something must have happened because the service has gone down quite a bit and not what one would expect. Our water was constantly empty and we had to ask them at least five times during the course of the meal for them to refill it. It was rather slow, close to two hours. Note that they also charge for plain hot way, $4. The ambience wasn't what you may expect as well. The table next to us were extremely loud and you may expect them to be a bit quieter or perhaps for the staff to speak with them. The coffee that came was also lukewarm. Not sure if I'll be going back anymore... I'm quite disappointed.
Honestly my favourite restaurant in terms of food and service!!! Came here for a quick late night dinner last year and decided to have my birthday dinner party here. So last year I had my birthday dinner in the Bel Dining Room which fit 17 people and it was an awesome experience. The staff were friendly, patient, and professional. I went back for my birthday again this year and got to try the truffle pasta appetizer, it was amazing!!! I love the banana ice cream dessert too. I also got to try their food on an Air Canada flight, I think I just love everything about Hawksworth.
The dinner was fun. The ambience is lively, but the sound didn't bother me. The service was good, we liked the food too.
My wife and I came here after our wedding in March 2021. Like many other couples we cancelled our reception due to COVID and decided to have a fancy dinner just the two of us. The staff were exceptional. From the moment we entered the restaurant they made every effort to make us feel special. I had the duck breast and she had scallops, both were delicious and uniquely tasting. The sommelier was super helpful picking the perfect wine pairing. Overall it was an amazing ending to our wedding night during a pandemic and we can't thank the staff enough.
Very good food, good wines and fantastic deserts. Service was very nice too.
One of the best fine dining experience I've had in Canada. Me and my friend tried the tasting menu and it was AMAZING! Every dish was nice with interesting wine pairings! The only thing I would say is that the waiter always had an unhappy face.
We loved our lunch, octopus was great, but even chicken sandwich and hamburger had special flavours, with good wine list by the glass. Very casual, a little noisy.
My partner and I come here often and absolutely love the drinks, atmosphere and small plates! Excellent customer service to match, especially from Jenna! She was absolutely electric! Can't recommend this place enough!
Such exceptional service that you'll almost forget how much you're paying. If you want to feel like royalty while eating some of the most delicious food in the city, go here. When it's available, and if you like white wines, try the Badenhorst Chenin Blanc - best wine ever. But then again, Kits Wine Cellar has whole bottles occasionally for $16... Anyways, I digress; it's an experience worth shelling out for.
We came here for the Prix Fixe lunch with wine. The food was really good, though the note of chili in the salad surprised us both. I like spice, but the salad had a lot of layered flavour so chili seemed a bit out of place. Also the chardonnay with the fish course...buttery fish, buttery wine- I get it. But for my palate I would have gone with something fresh and lighter.
What can I say about this place that hasn't been said? It's definitely the most interesting restaurant in Vancouver. Each time I come here the menu is completely changed. The tasting menu is great.
Staff was great while we were there. It was busy and they all did a solid job despite the hustle post-Covid. It’s a more upbeat environment so don’t expect a super quiet dining room. The food was good but we had maybe too high of expectations going in. Seafood platter was okay. Crab Croquettes were great, but the geoduck could’ve been cut in larger pieces it seemed almost shredded up. Think you’ll get better seafood at other joints in town. We also had the veal and the scallops + pork belly. They were nice but really not much to get excited about considering this is the city’s top restaurant. Worth a try if you haven’t been.
The finest dining experience we've ever had. The food and service was too notch. The 20oz rib eye for 2 was the best cut of meat we've ever eaten. Cooked perfectly. The desserts were amazing. Make sure you get the wine pairing with the dessert, it's worth it.
Classy restaurant! Great food and an amazing service. It's a bit pricey but it's worth it. I will definitely come back again with my better half.
I was here with a large group (around 100 people) and we were seated upstairs in one of their larger dining rooms. The food was amazing and not a single glass was left empty during the whole evening. I have some allergies which was met with positivity. One of my dishes were completely different to the others, which to me showed respect and dedication. I have nothing to complain about. The whole evening was divine!
Always a great time. Great service and staff. Good Covid measures. Happy hour is one of the best in the city.
Great atmosphere. Amazing food. Waiter was fabulous. Our young sommelier was fantastic! Awesome night.
Fresh, local ingredients prepared well, and presented beautifully. Server was a little too uptight for my liking. Both sablefish and halibut mains were slightly overcooked -- not so much that I felt the need to point it out to my server, though. That said, it was late in the day, and I may have dawdled with my starter a bit Regardless, at that this price point I expect perfection, and the fish fell slightly short of that. The self-confessed "wine nerd" sommelier was deeply knowledgeable, very approachable and clearly loved his job. He was the highlight of our visit to Hawksworth.
I go there with my school every year for a Culinary field trip and every year I always look forward to it! Everyone is really nice and the food is always great!! I had a chance to meet David Hawksworth himself and he is such a nice guy! Sent my parents there for dinner and they absolutely loved it! Hopefully going back soon ;)
Don't let the simplicity of the menu decieve you. The food is quite good. Every dish is interesting and well thought out. The servers are quite knowledgeable.
Me and my gf went here for our anniversary a year back, and we had very high expectations. We were very impressed with the atmosphere, service, and food. I ordered the roasted duck and it had to be one of the top 10 meals ive ever eaten. The atmosphere is pretty upscale for Vancouver so dress appropriately, although people in all attire can be found here as is the case at any restaurant in Vancouver (casual city). We will definitely be back.
Great ambiance, attentive service, delicious food! Kudos to the managment, well done! Will definitely be returning!
I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday at Hawksworth with my son on February 24 and was treated like a Queen! All the staff went out of their way to make our evening extra special. From the minute we arrived and the lovely Jodi escorted us to our table, I knew I was in for a treat. Our charming French waiter, Nicolas, gave us fabulous service and helped us decide on the roasted brussel sprouts with pistachios and an assortment of fresh bread to start followed by three incredible entrees: the brisket, the duck, and mushroom papardelle. The presentation of the food was beautiful and it was absolutely delicious! Oh la la! In addition to our spectacular meal, Taku, one of the amazing bartenders on staff, created special cocktails just for us that were out of this world! A special shout out to Claude and all of the support staff who took the time to drop by our table to say hello and wish me a happy birthday. All so nice! Compliments to the chef, all the kitchen staff, and David Hawksworth for creating an award winning and dedicated team committed to creating a dining experience I shall not soon forget. Looking forward to celebrating my parents’ 56 year wedding anniversary on March 14 at Hawksworth! Cannot think of a better restaurant to celebrate their special day. Love Hawksworth!
After hearing so much about this place, decided take my niece and nephews for lunch on Dec 27. Food was good, tasty and presented well. However, given all the hype and maybe it’s also the lunch menu, I didn’t find the dishes spectacular though. The server was friendly and very attentive. However, I think there may be more improvement to the front of the house – (1) I made reservation through a certain credit card concierge and, since Hawksworth was part of the Global Dining Program, I was assured by the concierge that he mentioned to the restaurant the additional amenities that I am entitled to. Whatever it was, it didn’t happened. (2) We ordered wine by glass and one of them had lots of sediment at the bottom (it’s a common occurrence though). When we told the manager about it, he just poured the remaining wine into a new glass. I had similar incident at other fine dining restaurants and they handled it differently by either offered a brand new glass of wine or take it off the bill. All in all, good experience at Hawksworth but could be better.
Dined here before will do so again when in Vancouver the service was Excellent. The food superb great job all around a great team.
Excellent restaurant! Very clean, well appointed, great professional staff, great food, reasonable prices. I always try to stop in when in the area.
For consistent high quality food, service and pleasant ambiance..hard to find a better restaurant in downtown Vancouver.
Hi, I just wanted to leave a thank you for Eric! He has now been our server twice, and has never failed to empress! The service at your restaurant is remarkable and I wanted to appreciate and say thanks. Happy holidays
I just stopped in for a cocktail and dessert. Both were perfect. The cocktail was delicious and the chocolate dessert was absolutely spectacular. The pastry chef Niki Mai came out and presented it. She was so wonderful and I will definitely go back to try more of her creations.
We had an exceptional fine dining experience. From food, wine to service are mind blowing. Eric and their staff are amazing. My glass was never empty. They even fold my cloth while i was awhile in the washroom. Thank you ERIC AND TEAM.
Exemplary service by Patrick and amazing food. Had some very nice touches for us as we noted that we were there for our anniversary, such as a card and champagne. Patrick did a great job structuring our meal to flow well.
High end restaurant in Vancouver. A must go restaurant in Vancouver
Awesome food and service. Dishes and drinks were perfectly made. The sablefish was quite a large portion yet the meat was juicy with a nice crispy crust. The duck breast was super tender and juicy. Perfect flavours! I wasn’t expecting much from the gazpacho but it was fantastic. Full of flavour. Love the burrata cheese mixed with the tomatoes! Definitely need to come back again.
I went here on December 2nd, on my first night of a 3 day trip to Vancouver. I'd had a long day and honestly wasn't sure if I was going to make it to dinner but forced myself to go and I am so glad that I did. This was the (mostly) seafood meal that I had been craving for a long while. I had the wagyu beef carpaccio to start, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My only criticism of the meal, though, comes here. I've had carpaccio a number of times, I absolutely love it, but I sometimes felt that the flavors were a little strong. It distracted from the beef, which was excellent quality, and I think that it should've been allowed to shine a bit more. Next I had the sablefish with shaved white truffle, scallops, and a side of seared foie gras for my main. The fish was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. I tried the fish both with and without the white truffle and it was great both ways. I liked what the truffle added to it but the mixture might not be for everyone. The foie gras, though ordered with my main, I kind of treated as a seperate thing. I had bites of it here and there as a kind of (fatty) palate cleanser for the fish, which I think actually helped me enjoy the fish more because while delicious, the flavors there were strong and could become a little much without something else to cut it with (but then again, for some people, that might be right up their alley). The foie gras itself was excellent. The sear on it was fantastic and it was so flavorful and smooth. For dessert, I ordered the crème caramel. Again, delicious and excellently made. Very heavy on the apple flavor, very much in a good way. The atmosphere was great. Intimate but lively. I dined alone and, honestly, aside from being a little under-dressed, I didn't feel out of place at all which can sometimes be the case when dining alone at a higher end restaurant. The mixed drinks were fantastic, as was the wine that I had with my meal. Will definitely go back if I find myself in Vancouver again.
Nice dinner. What you expect for a higher end restaurant. Ambience was good, but the wine room was spectacular. Definitely worth a peek.
A little disappointing, kusshis were off, and the waiter didn’t seem to care. We didn’t eat them, and it didn’t appear he mentioned it to a manager. Duck salad was delicious, if not for the attitude that came with the service and how he dealt with a small issue, no complaints. We do not ask for much, but when dining at a nice place, expect to not get attitude. Just constructive criticism here
Utmost respect for David Hawksworth. Not only does he prepare great things at Bel Cafe, his brunch is exceptional the restaurant is amazing. The pastry platter was crisp and tender at the same time. The way he prepares the steel cut oats has made me only consume steel cut oats now, no more rolled oats. Definitely cannot go wrong with anything on his menu. Atmosphere very relaxing, our waiter was exceptionally well mannered and professional. I wish him the best of luck with his new endeavour at the Nightingale.
This is the ideal restaurant for a special evening out, or showing visitors to Vancouver the exceptional quality of the Vancouver dining scene. My favourite way to eat at Hawksworth is to do the tasting menu with wine pairings.
The burger in Hawksworth. I go back for it at least once per year. I live 3500km away. The cocktails are excellent here, too. Location is great, practically across the street from the airport SkyTrain stop.
Really nice cocktail bar with an upscale flair (we didn’t try the restaurant side). The cocktail selection was good and the space is elegant, intimate, and cozy. My wife’s drinks were great, I got the old fashioned and it was fine but not particularly better than others I’ve had. Expected more because the bar seems to target customers looking for something a bit elevated. It was still fine, just not elevated above others.
I had a great in this restaurant. We loved the wonderful environment and the menu. The waiters were very personal. I am glad we eventually managed to visit this restaurant.
Overbooked, made a reservation at 1:30pm and didnt get a table even after 2 pm. Impolite hostess, felt like I was I chinatown.
The staff went above and beyond my expectations. Excellent service. Great atmosphere. Great food.
Had a great lunch (on the bargain prix fixe menu). There was nothing cut price about the friendly and professional service which was the highlight. Can't wait to go back.
Went for a dinner date and couldnt be any happier. This place is definitely a 5 star! love the food and the service.
Hands down the best "white food" in town. Definitely the go to spot for special occasions. We ordered the scallop and squid for appetizers. The squid had a fusion unique taste to It, a must have! For the main course it was the steak and sablefish, both took our breath away. We'll be coming back in the summer to try the rest of the menu.
Great food, good service and excellent decor. Good was extremely well made and delicious. Highly recommended.
Celebrated our anniversary at Hawksworth and not only was the food exquisite, our server was superb. She made sure to go above and beyond when it came to our allergies while also ensuring we received the full experience. Highly recommend for anyone seeking an unforgettable overall fulfillment.
Disappointing to say the least. Stopped by on a Friday night. The initial impression was good but as soon as we sat down, everything went down hill fast. Waited nearly ten minutes before a server came. Another ten minutes after that to receive water and to order. Ordered two simple drinks and again, an unreasonable wait. There were plenty of staff and the restaurant wasn’t excessively busy. We left before the cocktails even arrived. A shame really. We were really looking forward to a nice meal.
An experience for sure! The hotel Georgia cocktail was my favourite
Probably the best cup of coffee I have ever had. Our server was great, and they accommodated both our toddler and infant. Food was on point, we will definitely be returning.
To me, Hawksworth is a special occasion spot. Located in the beautiful Rosewood Hotel Georgia across from the art gallery, it was one of the restaurants that my wife and I compared to some of the Michelin-starred places from New York or Europe. We would go for birthdays or anniversaries, but when covid hit, we took a break for a year and a half. Just recently, we had the opportunity to go again this past August, and it just didn’t seem the same. Years ago, when we first visited, we ordered the tasting menu (which was hard to find in Vancouver) and were wowed by the west coast and Asian flavours and beautiful dishes. By the end of the night, we were full and content. The same was true for every other time we had the good fortune to go back. This last time, the tasting menu had been removed after we had already made reservations (we did not find out until we sat down at the table and were given our menus, even though it was on their website when the reservation was made). When I suggested that some communication would have been helpful, the waiter told me that people were called (I wasn’t) and asked if I would like to speak with the manager (I didn’t, as it was my wife’s birthday and I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it). Regardless, we ordered from the main menu. The good: - the cocktails are fantastic and the sommelier knows his wine - the dishes used to serve the food are thoughtful and beautiful - the location is fantastic - they wished my wife a happy birthday when we checked in The not-so-good: - the ambience can be nice, although when we were there, it seemed VERY casual - everything took a long time. It took 30 minutes for our order to be taken and 40 minutes for our main course to come with no communication from the servers. - the food was not how we remembered it to be. The presentation was nice, but not special, the flavours were not quite there and the portions were small for the price. It might have been shortages in the kitchen due to covid, but I know that other restaurants have really worked hard to maintain a high quality experience. To me, it seems like Hawksworth is just coasting on its name and serving people with too much money (and there is not shortage there) dishes they don’t even appreciate. With so many new and amazing options and since there is no more tasting menu, I would suggest exploring elsewhere.
Been waiting to check out Hawksworth for years and definitely worth it. Superb service and delicious food. Great spot to celebrate a special occasion. Looking forward to the next time we can go back. Thanks for putting such care into what you do.
Good food and service. The crispy duck salad starter was my favourite part of the meal. The olive shared plate was enjoyable and beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly. I felt some of the sides with my main could have been enhanced some but all in all it earned five stars.
Great experience at the bar. Tasty food and excellent cocktails.
Wonderful staff and fantastic food. I came to celebrate finally obtaining my Divorce. It was the perfect place for celebratory drinks and amazing food. Thank you to all the staff, it was a memorable night !!
I made a reservation for my son's birthday here. At the start, we waited awhile to be greeted. There was actually a line up of people and no hostess. Here are all the things that fell below my expectation: - hostess who knew about the birthday did not communicate to the server - we were seated by where servers take orders instead of by the window as I requested. It wasn't even busy - we were given the BRUNCH menu at 12:45pm when I specifically reserved for LUNCH. - we waited over 10 minutes to order then waited another 30 minutes for our meals to arrive - one order - french toast, was burnt all around the sides and was super dry - the salmon bagel was way too much salmon it almost made me gag. You would have fish breath after eating this dish - we told the server about the problem but they said "oh you should have told us and we would have made you a new one but now that you've eaten it, all we can offer is a VIP gift" - the VIP gift is a small banana loaf the size of my pinky put in a little gift bag. If I were a VIP, I would be demanding the entire banana loaf bread not a pinky size teaser. - they didn't offer to deduct the cost of the french toast on my bill. We ordered 4 dishes. They are so cheap and clearly have no clue how to treat their customers. Most restaurants, like Earls or Cactus Club would just discount it - they didn't even offer a dessert for the birthday boy. this was so disappointing. what's wrong with you people. This is the reason why I told you we were there. - we stood at the front again to wait for our jackets and the hostess did not even help us put our jackets on. So, you get no tip because you don't even know etiquette. - We ended up spending almost $200 for lunch and paid $26 for valet. - I would not come back and I would definitely not recommend. - The food was not that impressive and the service was horrible. We waited a total of 15 - 20 mins between our drinks and the total time there ended up being almost 2 hours because of the slow service (the restaurant was not that busy). So Hawksworth, I was excited based on the reviews, but after my visit with my family, I was insulted by your mini pinky sized banana loaf that you passed off as a VIP package for the burnt dry french toast and terrible service.
Truffles were a great addition! Highly recommend the burrata.
Amazing restaurant had several wonderful meals here both on the bar and in the restaurant. Great drinks menu with a vast variety of wines and drinks for the bar.
Amazing food and service. They also had no problem making me a beautiful vegan meal.
A very good restaurant Staff is friendly and knowledgeable The mixed drinks are very well thought out. The wine selection is excellent. Portions aren’t huge but are very high quality The charcuterie board was very flavourful Olives were delicious We got the 20oz rib eye to share. It was outstanding. In the end, the bill was less than expected for the quality we received.
Service
Had a beautiful time here with my family and the food was perfect! Service was excellent too! The quality of the foods were very nice indeed!
By far the BEST tuna tataki I have EVER had in my entire life. Tuna Tataki or tartare is always my go to and I will happily say this is the tuna Tataki I would like to have as a last meal. The somallier recommended an amazing sauv blanc to pair and it was a perfect treat. I would 6* this restaurant if I could, the service was above and beyond and happy, they seem to treat their staff very well and I appreciate it. It will for sure be a must have every single time I come back to Vancouver or recommend it to a friend. Also major props to Cori, she was our server and gave us service above and beyond what would be expected. I cannot give enough gratitude to this restaurant for the operations and hosting skills. Thank you!!!
We had the six course tasting menu with paired wines. The courses were unexpected, adventurous combinations of slightly asian inspired flavours that worked most of the time. The tuna tartar came across as a little strange, but otherwise the bone marrow custard amuse bouche through the meats and to the chocolate fondant finish were all excellent. The paired wines took us on a tour of the world with unusual varieties. Over all an excellent dinner.
We had an amazing meal here. The service was perfect, food great, and ambience great. This was probably our favorite meal during our vacation!
We spent a few hours in the lounge with friends and we were very impressed by the service, the food, and the cocktails. If you're looking for somewhere special for something special this might be just the place. The food is pricey ($24 burger but, oh such a great burger!) but the cocktails are in line with the prices of other nearby high end bars and lounges. The servers and bartenders are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Excellent dining experience tonight as always. We enjoyed the prix fixe menu and wine pairings. Food and wine were perfect compliments. As expected the service was exceptional, waiter, sommelier, Bartender, and service supports. Will definitely be back soon, especially with their generous Covid measures in place.
Vancouver's hottest place to see and be seen. Bring your wallet stuffed with cash, credit cards cause its not inexpensive. David Hawksworth has really given us a culinary masterpiece menu
Phenomenal service and excellent food, they went out of thier way to celebrate our special occasion
The restaurant is surprisingly over-rated (in my opinion). Seems almost like a bandwagon mentality. We have visited the restaurant many times but my last visit to the restaurant could only be rated as a one star out of five. I give him three stars for his overall body of work.
PROS: Great atmosphere! Speakeasy kind of vibes. CONS: Almost everything else. To preface, I went with a couple friends, all of us more on the younger side. Our reservation was for 8:30 so we get there 8:20 to be safe. We do not get seated until closer to almost 8:50pm. Not only that but the waiter, did not really take us seriously. He waited on every table and avoided us for pretty much the whole night. By the time our food had arrived there were tables that were seated after us that had, eaten, paid and left. Our food came closer to 9:55 almost an hour after being seated. Also the food was laughable. Didn’t taste good and there was virtually nothing on the plate. I know that the restaurant is on the fancier side, but there was enough for 3 bites. Finally, and just to put this into perspective, when we arrived every table was filled with someone…and when we left, we were the ONLY table left in the entire place. Honestly I love the experience of a stunning restaurant with high quality meals as much as the next but, the service and food were not up to par for the tone and price of the restaurant.
Lovely ambiance in a gorgeous hotel, food was flavourful but service put a damper on the evening. Our server was busy comping a table that was complaining about everything and then spending much time and providing "extras," to those celebrating events. For us "ordinary,"diners the service was inattentive and slow. Really took away from the meal and the evening.
No doubt that hawksworth is an expensive restaurant. We had scallops and pork belly as starters, and lobster tail and duck breast as mains. We were too full so we ordered just 1 desert: a dark chocolate chantilly to end the night. Overall, the food was delicious, and nicely presented. The night would have been perfect if i was told that my hot water with lemon and honey would cost me $4!
Walked in for a Sunday breakfast. The Full English was well prepared, and while the price point is higher than some other breakfasts around, I don't know of another nearby option for an equal Full English breakfast at a lower price. Our server was both friendly and efficient. The bar looks inviting, perhaps we'll come back one evening while visiting Vancouver.
Meal type
Very fancy, very professional, very good food. It is, of course, very expensive, but I was going for the experience, and Hawksworth did not disappoint! The service here is very good, I felt like I had a team of spriggans taking care of us.
The service and food are superb.
Our server Richard was fantastic, very polite, made great suggestions as per our dietary requirements. The food was delicious, especially the brown butter sablefish, melt in your mouth! Also recommend the KFC, unexpectedly spicy, but just the right amount.
Best service and amazing food. Special mention to our server Dave...best birthday dinner ever
Food was very done to high standards but menu and options lacking in creativity. Was expecting something more unique given the $$$. My friend ordered a slightly above average looking POKE bowl for $20-30. I'm hoping that my experience was more covid related to re-opening. Service was great.
Lost my reservation even though confirmed by Hotel Georgia reception half an hour before. Had tasting menu. Food presenter was charming w nice smile & speak w French accent Hot water was presented w honey & lemon. Nice touch. Food was spotty. Has earthy theme. But earth tone dishes not show food well. Fried bread looks like turd on grass. Others look like spills on ground. Ash powder nice touch Sea asparagus nice complement to fish. Saltiness uneven for food. Some bites v salty. Some ok. Pork cheek v fatty. Two thick layers of fat w thin meat in middle. Not my liking. Most dishes are cold. Cooked ahead of time @ dish out for presentation. Last dessert w sorbet & penna cotta & some crunchiness. Nice refreshing finish.
I would highly recommend The Hawksworth to anyone. The food, drinks, and service you receive is all amazing and the decor and ambiance is very nice cozy and luxurious. I will definitely be going back especially for brunch!
The best fish and chips downtown. Honestly craving it right now!
Overpriced and underwhelming. Rude staff, basic food, pretentious all around. Don't bother
I strongly suggest visiting this restaurant for special occasions coz the amazing staffs here did so many touches to make you feel special. Me and my partner was celebrating 4th anniversary here yesterday. The receptionist greeted us with “happy anniversary”, and provided 2 champagne and a greeting card to all the staffs signature on it! I am very surprised and feels this restaurant really care about their customer’s experience. The chicken breast is crispy. The pork belly& scallop is an art of balancing all the flavors in a dish, the sour apple sauce, the sweet apple gel, crispy pork and fresh scallop. The flavors of ingredients match with the others in a excellent way. The seafood platter is a must try too. The only thing I personally do not love is the fresh oyster for the day ($39 for 6pcs), it is great but I personally prefer oysters in a bigger size. I will definitely be back again for any special event and such a great restaurant need to be recognized!
Always great food, cocktails and wine. Superb with handling (multiple) food allergies.
We had such a great time dining and drinking because of our server, Jenna. She was so much fun and had us laughing the whole night. I will definitely be returning because of her!
Went here for a sponsored dinner and talk. The food was amazing... presentation, flavor, freshness, atmosphere, everything! Check out the videos on their website before you go. The food is grown locally, organically, picked fresh, menus planned accordingly.
Fine dinning . Great chefs creating delicious food. If only the portions were larger , I. Eat too too much
Lunch
High end restaurant with high end experience.
I have come to Hotel Georgia once in a while and their Bel Cafe has always been one of the best. I booked a table in their Hawksworth Restaurant and it is outstanding. This is fine dining level, although prices are on the high side, i had a great time there and it has great value compare to similar prices restaurants. There are almost dedicated services to the table and service is top notch. I can't complain their attentive to details and feels very genuine. Food quality is excellent, great use of local and fresh ingredients. The portion is reasonable and I don't feel hungry. Desserts are amazing especially the chocolate raspberry, it is probably my favorite: not too sweet and very chocolatey. They do charge for bread and hot water but this is expected on a high end restaurant. Bread is great so I am happy to pay for it.
After a ski trip to Banff, where the food culture was surprisingly bereft, I had to experience some refined food somewhere in Canada and so I came here, recommended by the book "Where Chefs Eat" and categorised as 'worth the travel'. Also described as typical Vancouver. They only had room in the bar so I missed out on the white tablecloths etc. Regardless, I indulged in the tasting menu in the dark lounge (so no photos, what a shame) and was treated way beyond all expectations by Ilana and sommelier Juliet who made me feel so comfortable eating such refined dishes and paired wines (including a scotch). Scallops, hiramasa, skate, pheasant, pork - everything inventive and surprising. Delicate, balanced nuanced, Craft craft craft! What a treat!
Celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary, we had the summer journey tasting menu. The variety and flavors amazing.
Outstanding food. Our first time here & my husband and could’ve stayed for hours. We sat at the bar & had great service & conversation with bartender, server, and other patrons. An unexpected but gem of an experience
Excellent food, service, and ambiance as always. Patrick was fantastic!
Fun and interesting food options, excellent customer service!
Fantastic food and top notch service. The scallops and the Ling cod was fabulous. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the BC wines. Overall a wonderful experience and I will be back and highly recommend.
Decent food. Was told not able to redeem OpenTable cheque, despite it being valid in our later visit at a different restaurant. Sizable interior. Downtown location. Metered street parking and underground parkade.
Booked several weeks in advance for my 50th Birthday. Received a nice message from GM. We traded messages about the fact the ONLY reason I had selected this restaurant was for its tasting menu. Had a conversation with a staff person the day before the reservation confirming our booking and the tasting menu even discussing specifically one course of the menu. Then 3.5 hours prior to our reservation received another call saying they are no longer offering the tasting menu. Where on earth do you get prime time reservations in Vancouver for an upscale restaurant offering a tasting menu?!?! You don’t! So happy birthday to me…the General Manager, Josh should be reassigned to something he can better handle.
The taste of the spring! All foods are well presented and delicious, but the dry Lamb rib (photo 7) was the best! So tender and juicy with a hint of smoke flavor, unfortunately they don’t offer this as a regular dish, only in the tasting menu.
We had brunch in this restaurant, however it isn’t as good as expected. Everything looks nice, but tastes horrible. The pancake is dry and the lobster salad tastes weird. I don’t know about dinner or lunch, but definitely not recommend brunch there. But the service is good, and price is reasonable.
There is a reason this is one of Canada's top rated restaurants every year for the last several years and why Air Canada Signature Service is curated by David...it is simply outstanding in so many ways. Whether it is the greeting at the door, the sommelier (Bryant) asking the right questions to make a new wine suggestion or our server (Matt) sharing a secret (try the Olives) it is absolutely delightful. It is like being hosted at your best friends for lunch/dinner and they are going "all out" for a special occasion. Sure, it is walking distance from my home in Coal Harbour but i would walk many miles (or km) to enjoy a meal at Hawksworth's. Thanks so much for pulling together a menu and wine list that delights time and time again. Cheers (literally)!!
Great experience and food at the restaurant!
Came for a talk. Side stripe prawns - nice presentation, prawns were good, overall taste is ok Cioppino (ling cod) - it was good but not amazing. Elderflower - berry mousse. On the sour side Average food. Service was good though :)
The finest dining experience we've ever had. The food and service was too notch. The 20oz rib eye for 2 was the best cut of meat we've ever eaten. Cooked perfectly. The desserts were amazing. Make sure you get the wine pairing with the dessert, it's worth it.
Our server was excellent. The portions were very small and I was not blown away by the food.
I haven't eaten everywhere, but I'm pretty sure this is the best restaurant in Vancouver. I've never had a bad meal here, or even a bad dish for that matter. Tasting menu with wine pairing is usually the way to go.
My husband and I stopped by for lunch in the pub. After getting greeted by the bartender and short conversation we decided to sit right at the bar. The burgers and cocktails were fantastic but the conversation and bourbon knowledge from Gemma? was the real highlight. This girl knows how to work behind a bar. Great conversation and skill. We will be back just to enjoy her conversation and hand crafted cocktails and of course an incredible burger too.
Food was ok but not sure why always rated so highly. BBQ octopus was excellent and rack of lamb but other items eg Hokkaido scallop, Korean ling cod and desserts were ok. So if order the right items, it is very good but there are misses as well.
