This Restaurant belongs to the category of Tuscan restaurant.
Excellent place!
Service was impeccable, food delicious, and great atmosphere in the restaurant. Highly recommend. Lobster bisque was perfect amount of lobster flavoring and cream. The pasta stated spicy Italian sausage, but wasn't much spice at all. Could've had a bit more kick in it but was still very good.
Awesome place. We want here for lunch and we typically only.come here for dinner. It literally was one of the best lunch experiences we have had!!!
Very nice atmosphere, delicious food and attentive service.
The food and service was average for Vancouver. Though it is way over overpriced compared to the rest of Vancouver and I'm not sure how they justify the price. Needless to say, if you want good Italian at a more justifiable price go to any other well known Italian restaurant.
Food is great, very popular but service needs real improvement.
Great Italian food and oustanding service. Imagine delicate cuisine from the shores of Capri, this is place to go. Enchantment2
Good
So happy you reopened in this new location. Absolutely fabulous good as always.
Honestly the most terrible customer service experience provided by Lisa over the phone. The restaurants primary form of contact should behave a little more professional. The way she answered the phone from the start of the call was unprofessional, rude, sarcastic tone and unaccommodating. Even if the restaurant cannot cater to my guest number needs there is a way to politely disclose that.
Nice Italian food, with amazing bread. All made in-house. It is expensive so I'd suggest this for a nice night out. There is a small patio out back which is great while sunny. Very professional and amazing staff. The greeters seem to pay much, much, more attention to people in blazers or a nice dress, so wear a blazer. Even a dress shirt has got me ignored. So as my friend says 'Throw on a blazer!'
We celebrate our anniversaries here !!!
This is a really nice and authentic Italian restaurant. Staff were very polite and friendly given how busy the pace was. Mistake was coming here during the holiday season. Too noisy and packed but will definitely come back to give it another try.
What can I say Humberto broke bread with us!
Had the most lovely time here for my birthday. We were let in about 10 minutes later than our reservation (likely due to the rain keeping people in) but it was well worth the wait! Our server Meghan was the sweetest and the food was all outstanding. The burrata was perfect. The pasta was flavourful. The scallops paired well with every component on the plate. We can't wait to come back!
Excellent service Rammi! Fantastic food ????
Perfect!
Great food and atmosphere. Classic! Exclusive pricing but worth it for those special moments
Seriously the best Italian food & the room is gorgeous.
Food and service were terrific, unfortunately our table was situated right in between two very busy walkways. It was claustrophobic and we kept getting bumped into.
comfort food.
Great food, great staff but the floor seating is not really well thought out. The place feels very crowded.
If this restaurant was about 30% cheaper, I'd say it's just about average. When compared to restaurants at the same price point, it might be the worst I've ever been to. We made a reservation for a Tuesday night, a week and a half in advance. When we arrived, our table wasn't ready, and we were made to wait for 20 minutes. When I inquired with the hostess, after already waiting for over 15 minutes, I was answered with "the other party is just leaving - they arrived late for their reservation so they stayed longer" - Lady, I couldn't care less about the other party. It is YOUR job to make sure the table is ready in time, not mine nor theirs. There was not even the slightest hint of an apology. In my books, if you make someone wait for 20 minutes, you offer them a complementary glass of wine to enjoy in the meantime, not an irrelevant excuse. We then got our table in the back patio, which is admittedly beautiful. There were lots of heaters to keep everybody warm on a chilly night, which was very nice too. The service was OK, but nothing more than that. Our server did everything a server should do "by the book", but wasn't overly personable and offered no added value. When we asked for recommendations we were answered with an "everything is good" type of an answer - this is not what servers are there for in higher end restaurants. For our dinner, we shared 4 dishes between the 2 of us: a soup (Lobster Bisque), an appetizer (a daily special of Burrata with fresh figs), a pasta dish (Tagliolini with Rock Prawns), and a main (Sablefish). The Lobster Bisque wasn't bad, but nothing more than that. It had an odd bitter aftertaste. We had a much better one at different restaurant just a couple of weeks ago, except over there it cost half the price. The Burrata was amazing, and the only dish I would say met the level one would expect from a restaurant at this price point. If you do end up there and this option is available, you should definitely order it. At this point we were pretty hopeful that the remainder of the night will continue on that good note, but were unfortunately disappointed. The Prawn pasta was bland and served with very little prawns. We make a much better Prawn pasta at home about once a week. Last, the Sablefish. The fish itself was good, since Sablefish is a very nice fish, but if compared to other Sablefish dishes we've had in the past, it was average at best. The sides it was served with (some veggies and mashed potatoes) were again very bland. As for the atmosphere - the place itself is beautiful, I'll give them that! The crowd was a see-and-be-seen type of people, dominated by people that look like they're made of plastic and people that obnoxiously and loudly boast about how rich they are. That actually explains why the place was packed on a Tuesday night - must be one of these places people go to in order to be seen at, because there is no way that many people come there midweek for that mediocre of food. Overall, I give it 2/5, where 1 star of the 2 is purely because of the Burrata. If you compare it to restaurants that cost 70% as much, it could pass as a 3, but at this price point you'll have to try really hard to find an even lesser alternative. Needless to say, we will not be coming back.
What a beautiful restaurant - we experienced world class service and meal in a comfortable and warm dining experience! Everything from location, design, greeting to finishing touches is beautiful, welcoming and really first class! Perfect for a night out on the town - delicious Italian food with outstanding service!
Fantastic food and service. Il Gardino has been a landmark for 30 some years and they still got it!
Everything about this place is 5 star, check it out for yourself
one of my best places in Vancouver!! Highly recommended.
What a fantastic evening and dining experience. My wife took me there for my birthday dinner and we had a great time with our server and the excellent cuisine. My negroni was spectacular to start and everything proceeded to get better from there. It was a little cramped/tight and the restaurant was full to capacity on a Friday night. If you're looking for some great food in a kind of buzzing, happening environment... you could do far worse that Giardino. We'll be back for sure!
Absolutely everything was perfect from ambiance and service to the delicious food! Will return everytime I'm back in Van..
Hmmm....years coming, always fresh and timeless. Saturday evening with family laughing and reminiscing about past days, I guess what else can you say..... Perfecto

Very expensive. Our meals were not that outstanding. Beautiful decor.
Excellent food and service. Too crowded, tables too close together, too noisy.
Great keep up the service
We celebrated our anniversary at Giardino and it was a great choice! Nice ambience and excellent food. My husband had steak and I had lasagna, they were both absolutely delicious! Service was good, but we missed some warmth from the waitress , she was fast and courteous, but no smiles, felt distant. Price is a little expensive, but nothing crazy, you get what you pay for. I will definitely go back!
This restaurant used to be one of my favorites. I had many special occasions held here, however at our most recent visit for my mothers birthday, there was a wet patch on the floor which caused my girlfriend to slip and fall down on her way to the table. When we approached the manager outside of the restaurant to tell him about our experience he was very standoffish and did not apologize or seem to care. Very disappointing!
Very rude valet parking person arguing with other people on the street. Did not affect us but very inappropriate.
I’m not the biggest fan of lasagna, but ordered it so my husband would get the best of both worlds and have his favourite lasagna. It was the BEST LASAGNA I’ve ever had. My daughter had the Carbonara and it was delicious as well. My husband had the veal and it was so tender and yummy. The wine list is amazing. Wide selection of many great wines. A few BC wines and many from all around the world. The menu has lots of Italian favourites, I’ll be sure to come back.
Food blew me away. Could not believe I was having Italian food not in Italy. Bravo to the chefs.
YES YES YES! Celebrated my partner's birthday yesterday and it was like being in Florence again. Italy is my favorite country to visit because of the food, so it's hard to please me when it comes to Italian cuisine outside of the country. This place - CHECK! The service was outstanding. They had 2 glasses of Prosecco as soon as we sat down (and good Prosecco at that). This was a really nice touch. My partner was over the moon! As for the food, like I said, it was like it was like being in Florence again. Ah ! Italian food is the BEST, and Giardino does not disappoint. We started with some oysters (Kushi - our favorite), and some Bison Carpaccio - OH MY GOD, then some salad, and our Mains. We didn't even have to think about what we wanted, our server made great suggestions and that is what's so good about this place. You just go and enjoy yourself drinking fantastic wine, with fantastic company, in a fantastic setting, and salivating in THE BEST Italian food you can get in this city. Wow. I can't wait to go back and cannot believe I have never been. Treat yourself and get your food game on! You honestly can't do better than Giardino.
(Translated) Delicious. Excellent service. Beautiful frame. A nice table in Vancouver. (Original) Délicieux. Excellent service. Beau cadre. Une belle table à Vancouver.
Fantastic Italian food and excellent service. I would have ordered every single item on the menu, but physics got in the way. The lettuce with goat cheese beautifully combined the nippy taste of the goat cheese and the sweetness of the vinaigrette, the spaghetti carbonara had exactly the right amount of pancetta and egg. The wine list has an excellent choice of all-Italian bottles, and a good selection by the glass and even half-glass if you want to keep sipping but don't want to order a full glass.
Food is Bad. Pasta undercooked and ingredients tossed in. I've had two bad meals there this year, It used to be great,They are slipping badly.
great food for good price!
Sat at the chef's table, which provided lots of entertainment for our meal time. The food was phenomenal. The deep fried buffalo mozzarella was great as our appetizer. Our main courses were great, and for dessert, I had the cheesecake (which was so light and almost whipped) Great food and atmosphere!
Really nice patio. Good food. Friendly staff. Recommend walking to if able as parking is pricey
We started with a pheasant terrine, nothing special, rather bland, and the texture was dry and crumbly. Then and I had a rabbit ragut with papardelle, our waiter praised my choice. The pasta was heavily oversauced and overcooked, the sauce was not extra specially good and there was a feeling of "ground beef" about it. My husband had veal - with a little pile of mashed potatoes a few green beans and some broccoli, the veal was dressed in a gluey wine sauce with some capers sprinkled over it. Two expensive entres and very uninspiring they were. For dessert I had the toughest profiteroles, cold carboard filled with esperesso gelato. All in all this dreary meal was overpriced and to be kind: average. While we were eating a party of six people at a table near us were celebrating a birthday... the hostess arrived at their table and sang Happy Birthday in what I can only describe as a parody of an operatic soprano. It was terrible, she certainly had powerful lungs and gave it her all - an unbelievable performance for a fine dining experience!
It's been a long time since I had had dinner at il Giardino and it's as great as I remembered! The food is amazing as is the service. The new location is even more inviting than the old location. I had the fettuccine with snow crab and mung beans. I was initially a little concerned that the portion was a bit small (I tend to over eat a bit) but it turned out to be a perfect size. Five stars!
Only place to eat in Vancouver
When you want the best, with a busy house, this is your place. Started with an app that was a recomendation of our server, followed by the sable fish and halibut, both perfect.
About time!!
Beautiful setting. Dress appropriately. Nice, cozy bar. Sit in the atrium if the weather is conducive. Awesome mozzarella di bufala--both in the fried mozzarella and in the caprese. Paccheri pasta with Italian sausage was fantastic. Wine list well chosen but overpriced. Wait staff nice, knowledge, and very attentive, yet without being overbearing. Unexpected to find such wonderful Tuscan food in a such an unlikely local.
Meal type
Amazing experience every time I've come.
Went on Dec 18th for our office Christmas lunch and even the place was packed of people it didn't affected the quality of service. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable of Italian gastronomy and wine pairing. I tried the Veal and the it wasn't as I expected anyway everyone else was very satisfied with their selections.
Giovanna was awesome, such a sweet heart and has been with the company forever. We were served in the lounge and we had a great dinner and nice wine. A Vancouver staple. Keep it simple and get the pesto pasta, One of the best in the city.
Dinner
We were downtown showing a property to clients and low and behold we were right in front of Umberto’s. Guess what happened next ...we went in for an amazing dinner (couldn’t resist) - it was an absolutely delicious meal and five star service! Thanks a million.
Awesome food but you pay for it.
???????? Italia food ???? delicioso
Service
Fantastic service, amazing food, fabulous wine menu. Can't wait to return on my next trip to Vancouver.
Great atmosphere, excellent food.
Delicious. Excellent service and drinks.
Make sure to sit on the terrace and you’ll be instantly transported to Italy. Food is authentically Italian and the service is focused and intuitive.
Best lasagne!
One of our favorite spots! Great atmosphere and amazing staff. We did have a rather long wait for a table, and the chicken was not as well done as usual, but otherwise everything was fantastic! Some of the best food in the city.
Excellent service, wonderfully beautiful restaurant, lovely dishes, high energy atmosphere. Great jewel in Vancouver's dining scene.
Great & Nice restaurant.
Loved this restaurant! The food and service was so great, a bit pricey but totally worth it! I recommend the gnocchi and the cannoli for dessert!
AMAZING & authentic Italian food. The lobster pasta and the pistachio creme brule were delicious . Service and wait time was excellent! Highly recommended! :)
Great food and reasonable service. The location is not quite as atmospheric as the previous Il Giardino on the same street but still a great location.
Never disappoints. Ever!
We had a table of 15 and we all felt well taken care of. The food was delicious especially the seared tuna and the desserts were exquisite. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent food, great cocktails and first class service.
What a place!! Loved the food... ambience!
One of the best restaurants in Vancouver for FIFTY years!!!... Amazing food, ambience and service!!!...
Excellent food and ambience!
Very poor customer service at the valet Giardino Restaurant will not dine here ever again
So surprised by the great reviews here. The food was mediocre at best. We were 6 people, everyone ordered different things and all had same opinion.
Food was amazing and service was fantastic! Definitely coming back again!!
Venison was off the charts. Everything was good.
Amazing food!
We had an amazing anniversary dinner! Delicious food and wonderful service! Looking forward to come back soon! ☺️
Every dish sent out from the kitchen is a masterpiece. Great place for upscale Italian food! Highly recommend!
My favourite Italian
Food and service is top class and with that comes very fancy and usually old people in. Not a bad thing at all, just not a place where you would take a first date to, more like where you would propose.
Good service , great food
The food is amazing every single time. The service is kind and welcoming. The overall atmosphere feels cozy. If I could I would give it 6 stars!
One of the best restaurants in Vancouver. The beet salad is amazing.
Very pleased we selected Giardino's while staying in Vancouver as the service was wonderful and the food very good. The staff were very helpful, even providing service outside before our table was ready. Very happy with the food and a very good selection of wines. Thank you.
Great food
The salads were pretty good but the pasta was not well balanced. The gnocchi was grainy and the mushroom pappardelle was too heavy with little relief. Overall a fun atmosphere but a little cliché and not as fancy as it pretends to be.
One star for the service provided by the server. Very nice guy but seriously my soup was not even finished and dinner was there. They just want you to leave the place in an hour or so. I agree with the reviewer about valet service it was not the good guy was rude and was argumentative. Very bad experience never going back there
For the price and reputation, the food here is only average. There are other places downtown that's cheaper with the same quality, or better at the same price point. The one bright spot is the service. We had an excellent server.
Always amazing. Do yourself a favour and go here. The staff is excellent and food always great.
Great patio area. Excellent service and food!
Food is always good here, superb service, and a great atmosphere. I'd say it's good for a special occasion and that's about it.
Excellent food, wine, and service
Fabulous! Always Fabulous for our Annual Bellini Ladies Christmas Dinner
Best Italian restaurant! My favourite is the Carbonara and my husband likes their halibut ❤️
Best Italian in the city
We celebrated our anniversary here and were treated like royalty . Everything and everyone was absolutely wonderful .
An amazing restaurant, definitely my favorite. Never disappoints. The staff are all so friendly and knowledgeable. The food is unbeatable, my favourite pasta is definitely the carbonerra and you must get the tiramisu! The patio is also beautiful, very European!
Amazing food and true rustic Italian atmosphere! Great wine selection!
Awesome food everything looked so tasty on the menu. Nice atmosphere too highly recommend
expensive but well worth it. food is great, service awesome.... took Mom n dad there for moms birthday... they loved it.. was also there for a Christmas dinner party and had reindeer for dinner (yes i ate Rudolph) it was delicious..
Awesome service and wonderful food as usual.
Genuine, efficient and friendly service which supports unparalleled execution in the kitchen. One of the best meals I’ve had in the downtown core.
Great atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Ordered both daily specials when I was there - the burrata for an appy and the seafood pasta for a main. Ryan, our server was friendly and very helpful
Best venison I have ever had. Flavors were spectacular and the atmosphere was classy and romantic. Definitely make sure to dress up!
excellent food and service. is pricey
Fantastic Italian food if you like regular (not fancy) as I do. Good service and awesome food. Located one floor up so you have a view of the street while dining. Get the bolognese.
We had a small celebration, party of 5. Food quality was disappointing for the premium price. Soup was nothing special and my fettuccini noodles were not throughly cooked. Our waiter appeared to be a seasoned server however he made us feel rushed. While paying he was rude and pointed out that the gratuity was not included in the bill before we all paid. 5 stars to the valet driver. I do not recommend, I will get a better meal and service from Cactus Club.
Perfect lobster bisque with cream. House salad with spaghetti beets and julienned apples. Spectacular breads. Impressive wine list. Attentive servers. Quiet atmosphere and appropriately pricey.
Rock solid Italian. Valet parking. Professional service. Reservations recommended, but you can usually get right in. Good wine list.
Great ambiance, the patio on the back is very quaint. Food was excellent. Quite an extense wine list. Didn't get dessert, esspreso was great (true italian style)
Great place. The food is phenomenal.
Had a delicious dinner at this Italian restaurant, I would definitely return next time I'm in town. Just a note for other visitors though, a lot of their meals I found to be classic Italian dishes but with twists. So if you're looking for straight forwards Italian dishes, perhaps ask your server if they can change it up or maybe look elsewhere.
Fantastic Italian restaurant in town
amazing one of a kind atmosphere and food. great staff
Delicious Italian food served in a romantic and cozy environment with warm, fantastic, non-pretentious service.
A cosy and reasonably priced Italian restaurant.
Some of the best Italian food I have tasted. Nice atmosphere and old world charm with attentive staff.
Phenomenal Food/Drink, Service and Atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Awesome
Great Giardino. I can say one of the best in Vancouver.
Fine Italian dining at one of Vancouver's best restaurants.
(Translated) Beautiful, cozy place, reception ok. Fast and efficient service. However, the dishes disappointed. Excessive use of pepper. About to block the taste. There was no indication in the descriptions of the dishes of the use of so much pepper. Expensive price, for a frustrating dinner.
Always good food and good service! Best Italian restaurant in town.
Everything about my experience with this restaurant is terrible.
Excellent Italian food. Great personal service.
Tuscan restaurant. Food is very good. Service is good. Great place to take a date. Atmosphere is very nice. Moderately expensive. Food is worth the price.
High class Italian restaurant with a Chef Owner
4 of us went to Il Giardino for new years eve, and as always the food and the service was fantastic BUT when we were leaving, we got our coats and my hat was missing the lady got all upset as if it was my fault the hat was missing and started saying that everybody was going in the room and helping themselves. I asked if I could leave my phone # with her so she could call me back after the new year to let me know if they found it but no one called me. It is a pity that such a high end restaurant does not have a better system and the right staff to look after their clients property or even have the curtesy to call and apologize for what happened.
Absolutely excellent. Never had a bad experience. Truly a fantastic experience for those who love classic Italian cuisine with an upscale twist. If you haven’t been. Just go.
Great as always!!
Giardino is an amazing fine dining restaurant. The bread was amazing and the ambience of the restaurant is just amazing! Totally an instagramable place. I personally don’t like the steak just not worth the price and there are many other places serve better steak. The mozarella bread was just okay and I do not see it very tasty and appealing. The dessert: the pistachio creme brulee and the the tiramisu was basic. I could find better creme brulee and tiramisu. Farina a legna has better tiramisu than giardino and they are not worth the price for the desserts. I think giardino focuses on the its pasta. I actually love the lasagna so much and it is the best so far in vancouver. I haven’t found any better lasagna than here. I would definitely come back for the other pastas! Recommended for the pasta only!
Great food and service. A nice patio exist for outdoor dining.
2 words. chicken tortellini
Best pasta in the city, period!!! Great atmosphere, great crowd, no complaints. Also, Umberto, the owner, is a really nice guy, it was nice talking to him.
From thr first day I walked to the former IL Giardino di Umberto joining its older siblings Umbertos , now The Yellow House 1973 and La Cantina 1975 I knew it was a three run homer. From our sad hotel and red chekxerd tablecloth north american Italian ( i mean tomato paste was that he nonas could get no flavour out of local ones was inverted thete) to this wonderful new play on Umbertos home with a bar but one you dined in with its own courtyard and few dueces overlooking the Dining Room Terrace action. And the high celinged main room with its prime two alcove tables to the side of the hugh buffee, table one aclarge oval was prime Birthday seating where I had bdays from 77-85 upon turning 30 . The menu. Still unique as far as I know. Fabulous! The wine list. La Crima Cristi Di Vesuvio Spumante! And the staff led by Chico and night and Geri Fuss in the day with the ladies who lunch. That place that closed? That was not IL Giardino what with the doorway to , what hapoened to the Yellow House? All this magic is again reborn in a larger room with pizzaz to spare. Not just hit the ground running but sprinting like Usain Bolt. Umberto needing a hair cut and looking tired During the first month as the avalage of former patrons was nonstop! What a team! Bobby Copiac does an outstanding job. Ludwik I find faultless finding a Brunello just stronger the the Brunello we had with the Biftec to go with our Venison. Although the last B we had at $135 undrrwhelmed. A luncheon Brunello! 40 More Years 40 More Years 40 More Years lll be 101! Roger WHJames Magnus Hourston 1040AD.
This is the best Italian restaurant in Vancouver. Great food, ambiance and excellent service!
Terrific food and attentive service. Excellent.
Their pasta dishes are amazing
Was told that this was the best Italian place in Vancouver and it didn't disappoint. Great food and even better service
Best Italian vibe I've ever felt. Best Italian food I've ever ate.
Super food, terrific ambience and the service is always excellent. Nothing compares to the old place but this is still very, very good. Salute!
Best restaurant in town!!
We go there about once a month. Love the whole experience. Nice decor, the food is delicious, made with quality fresh ingredients. Their specials are amazing. We usually also have cheesecake for dessert. Yuuuuuumy! Best of all is the service. We love the staff, from the kind greeting as you enter all the way to the goodbye. A very special call out to Erenee. She’s a true professional. Well informed most gracious and respectful. We love her good humour and high energy. Thank you Giardino!
Amazing service and delicious food . Good for a large group
I like it here!
Dinner
Super noisy place... we were hoping for a more intimate dining experience... not the place to go for that. however will go back again when we're in the mood for a more social theme.
Food, service and atmosphere is all first class.
Fantastic but pricey
Reserving a table was easy through their online reservation feature. The restaurant was beautiful and created this a nice atmosphere to dine in. I ordered the Chicken stuffed tortellini, and it was delicious. Caroline was our server for the night who made our dining experience a 5 star experience.
Fantastic! Umberto has not lost his magic. Everything was perfect.
Amazing experience. The food and service are amazing. Felt right at home and part of the family as soon as we entered the restaurant. Definitely will return again.
The best
Incredible Italian food and a fantastic atmosphere. If you are able to get a reservation at this restaurant during good weather try sit in there outside area as it is beautiful. The food is fantastic as expected considering the price.
Delicious food and good service. Take her out here for bonus points! Came here with the family once too and its fun to order family style here. Lot's of cool specials every time we came so it doesn't get boring.
The best Italian food in Vancouver
I would recommend this place to all!
Amazing and very pleasant service. Despite its reputation for Italian food, the seafood was excellent. Food was fresh and the vegetables were well made. The cannoli for desert was marvelous. Highly recommended for special occasions.
Wow!! I literally left want to be rolled out!! Had 4 courses of absolute perfection!! Definitely going back! Service, wine, food, everything was done to perfection.
Patio is nice but they need to do something about the view when you look up! Service is good, food is decent but pricey.
Always a great place for fun, food and drinks. Great patio
Fantastic setting with amazing food. Prices are fine dinning level and are worth it. Enjoy Umberto's place before he decides to retire!
Food was excellent and the portion sizes were perfect however the service were not up to par. Had to keep searching for someone to serve me and our waiter went to other tables except for mine. I don't know whether there is some misunderstanding but however I feel he was purposely ignoring my party. If it weren't for the excellent food, this restaurant deserves a one star because of it's horrendous service.
We dined here on a Tuesday evening to ensure the best possible service and Giardino’s did not disappoint. The room is elegant and spaciously arranged (appropriate to current restrictions). Dinner was delicious and the whole evening a treat beyond words. M. Menghi took the time to visit our table and say hello. A wonderful night out…thank you.
My guy took me here for a special occasion. Everyone and everything was absolutely amazing. They are open till ten pm and we got there at 9:45 and they still sat us as if we were there at 6 pm . We were 100% impressed .
good food and good service, needs improvement in service.
First time there. Service was exceptional. Food was elegantly prepared and equally delicious. Bravo????????
Amazing new space. Giardino has acquired staff that meet the expectations of a fine dining restaurant
Very high end and ambience place
Friendly fun vibe. Pasta with scallops and olive oil delicious. I wasn't a fan of the calamari.
Its expensive but very good...I'm still not accustomed to $30 salad!
Great service our waitress Erenee was wonderful. Fabulous meal, everyone at our table loved there meals.
Amazing food and service
Best restaurant hands down, Umberto and Bobby are the best????
Came here last minute and we were lucky to get a reservation within 30 minutes on a Friday night. We dined outside in the garden and it was lovely. Our service was phenomenal from the moment we stepped through the door until we left. Our server helped us pick a bottle of wine and is very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered an appetizer, had mains each and shared their tiramisu. Each of them were amazing! I’d come back again for sure.
Had a great time. Amazing food.
Meal type
From the moment I walked in and they greeted me to the end when I payed the check the staff was friendly and professional. The food was fantastic oysters to start and lobster bisque then the sable fish. Probably the best lasagna I've ever put in my mouth .I highly recommend this restaurant .
Meal type
Amazing! Great food, expensive but it worth it.
One of the best Italian restaurant in Vamcouver. Great atmosphere and even better food.
Table for 7 for a business dinner. I was worried as we arrived at 6:30 and were the only people in the place. At 7:30 this was no longer a worry as it was packed. Very good outside-of-Italy Italian. Double-cut Venison chop, Osso Buco, Burrata cheese, good wine list. This is a Vancouver staple, but hurry if you want to try - the owner sold out to Condo developers and April 15th 2013 this place disappears forever.
Great Italian place. The owner is always around and socialize with all guests. Food is very high quality. Only 4 stars because menu is mostly always the same.
A reasonably priced Italian restaurant serving above standard food. Friendly staff makes the place very welcoming.
5-STAR PRICES for 3-STAR FOOD We booked a table at Giardino because we walked by it about a week prior and loved how it looked from the outside. Quick check of reviews did not raise any red flags. We booked a table for dinner. The interior of the restaurant looked great. Ambiance promised a very well spent evening and amazing dishes. However we were very much surprised by the food which we received from the kitchen. Dry meat instead of medium-rare and overcooked pasta. It seemed that we were having a dinner at Milestones or any other chain restaurant. Mains took about 25-30 mins to arrive after the appetizer plates were cleaned up which was very strange. Those of us who were hungry after a long day finished their pastas (if you can call it that), others left their plates 60-70% full. For the first time in many years we passed on desert in a Italian restaurant. When the waiter asked if she could pack the food to go, we told her that we would not want that because it is plain and simply bad. She said that she is sorry and presented us with our $550 bill. To be fair the bill did include a $110 bottle of wine (which retails for $28. At that point we were not surprised). We tipped well and left. I am not sure where are all these great reviews and photos are coming from but our experience was very different. To me this place reminded of a typical tourist trap somewhere in Rome. Nice interior, well-dressed waiters, simple wines with 400% markup and mediocre food. It appears to me that most of blazing reviews are made by people who come to take photos of food for their social media account and the presentation of the food does the trick. We left with a feeling as we were scammed and definitely will never go back there. Word of advice to the management: - If your plates leave the table 70% full and are not wrapped up to go, you really want to find out what happened and perhaps try to make it right. - If you are marking up your wines 300-400% (which I don’t mind) make sure that you can’t get most of them from a local liquor store. Always exceptional food and great service. Pricey but one of the best places for Italian food in Vancouver (tied with Cioppinos for me). The outdoor seating is unparalleled in Vancouver. The indoor seating can be quite noisy at times. Great spot for celebrations, work dinners or date nights (or a I don't want to cook Wednesday). The pastas are delicious and half orders are available for the starter course. Veal chop is always a winner for a main
The place is neat and clean. The staff are helpful. The service is great. The food tastes delicious. Enjoyed my visit there.
Simply the best Italian food you will find in Vancouver. My husband is an Italian immigrant and chooses this restaurant for any and all special occasions because it reminds him of home. You won't be disappointed. The service is always outstanding (Francois is our personal favorite waiter!) the food delectable and the atmosphere romantic.
Always amazing with incredible service.
Best wine and dine experience ????
Great service and food was just awesome.
The best Italian restaurant in the lower mainland . Hands down .
Wonderful restaurant.
An absolutely outstanding dinner !
One of the best Italian restaurants in the city!
Good service and food and a pleasant atmosphere. A touch on the pricey side
The prodigal son is back better than ever. Head chef Peter makes the food cremations next level. Great food, great staff and beautiful ambiance especially with the new courtyard. Two thumbs up.
Service
One of the loveliest spots for a fancy Italian dinner in Vancouver. They have a very nice collection of red wine, and their food is amazing!
A fabulous place. I'm sad that he has no location in Toronto. Food was terrific. So well done and I have high expectations when it comes to Italian food. Location, ambiance, service and food were all 5 star.
The place is nice. The wine menu is very interesting and the wine I get was really nice. The food is good but not amazing and the service is too speed and not delicate enough. The restaurant is disapointing. Also there is a lot of table, a lot of people. It's a very loud place. The atmosphere is deteriorating because of it.
Wow!
Went to Giardino's for the first time a couple of nights ago.. Some things really impressed me while others were disappointing. The food was great, I had the halibut and no complaints there. Wine was also really, really excellent. However, the service was a tad slow and it was pretty busy. And it can get loud. The prices are pretty high also but I understand it since this is a very upscale type of place.
Phenomenal dishes. Everyone at my table had something different and the food was exquisite
Excellent atmosphere, waiter and food! We will come back!
I don't normally eat at restaurants because I don't want to throw money away at a mediocre experience. Il Giardino is unlike anything else and Vancouver needs more restaurants like it. The atmosphere, the food, the experience, and the hospitality are magical. I am immensely happy that they re-opened again.
You can't say enough about this place! The food, the service, the atmosphere is always top-notch and consistently one of the best in the city if not the province.
Always a delicious and fun experience!
Delicious food, great attentive service.
Great food. Close to authentic Italian food as you will find in Vancouver.
Bill was over $600 for 4 people but rushed out at just less than 2 hours as they had people waiting for the table
Food is mouthwatering
if possible, the service exceeded the amazing food. Must dine here.
Great food and atmosphere. Had a fine time for a party of a dozen people. Book early if you want to visit on a weekend.
I can't actually say how the restaurant is but I can complain about the valet service. The guys wearing the red shirts have almost hit me three times as a pedestrian. They drive in reverse down the street and go so fast im surprised they haven't killed someone. I would highly suggest that the restaurant look at a new valet service.
Lasagna is best, with the hot sauce ????
Always a great time. Good service, good wine and great food. One of the best in Vancouver. Try the octopus carpaccio
Now this is a restaurant! We had a memorable time. Food was great, the establishment itself is nicely designed, service was nothing short of 5 stars.
Excellent service & food
Always a stellar meal here.
Another great experience. Wonderful service
Delicious food & amazing service!
Great food and good service.
Great meal and great service.
My second time having dinner at Giradino. IT IS SUPERB.
Amazing food. Great for large groups.
I have zero criticisms for either their food, drinks or service. Best Italian I've been to in Vancouver. So great ????????????
A gem in Vancouver. A beautiful breezy patio was the backdrop to an absolutely delectable meal. The cannelloni was perfection and paired with an excellent bottle of Chianti. Ambience is everything at this place. The host couldn't have been busier but made a grand effort to ensure we had patio seating for our wedding anniversary. Thank you Giaridino's - you'll be seeing more of us!
Great place dine with friends and family. The food and service are outstanding, we highly recommend.
Wonderful food. Great service. Bathrooms very clean and tidy.
Great service from Giovanna! The food was amazing and the restaurant is lively. Highly recommend! Pro tip: ask for Giovanna.
Great food, service and patio!
Such an amazing We went to Cardero's on Saturday night for dinner. food is incredible and so fresh! I had an amazing special that included salmon, prawns, and scallops, and my friend had halibut - YUM! Our server was also the nicest guy with such prompt service. Can't wait to come back!
Everything is 5 Stars. Come for a 5 Star experience. Outstanding food with the best service in town. Let them know what you want in the way of tables. Worth every penny.
Amazing ambience, service, and food. You really get what you pay for here. The price point is relatively high but it’s very worth it for any special occasion or date night. Make sure to try the Buffalo mozzarella!
5 star service. 5 star food. Great room.
Valet was very rude. I saw him swearing at a taxi driver who seemed to not know what was happening and why the valet was swearing at him. Seemed kind of racist in my opinion would not recommend to anyone. The Italian food was not the best I have tasted. Would not recommend to anyone who is looking for good Italian food. I am a tourist in Vancouver and it was not a good experience .
Outstanding food and service
Unbelievable!
Up to Nov 2018, we have visited this restaurant about six times. The food is very good and we like the service. Even though we only go a few times per year, many of the staff remember us so that is pretty nice. An interesting story: when the restaurant first opened we went with two other couples. One of the staff members took me aside and asked "would you be interested in purchasing this restaurant?" The other couples were amused. Perhaps he mistook me for someone else. I have rated Cioppino's at 5/5 stars but have say that this place is incrementally better. As one example, the cannoli here is better than at Cioppino's. However neither cannoli come close to the cannoli at Eataly in NYC. I plan to go back to NYC just for a cannoli and to once more dine at Chef's Table (Brooklyn Fare) - at this moment, the greatest restaurant in NYC (and perhaps the world).
The grilled Romain saladwas a little disappointing. It wasn't what I was expecting. That said for ambiance, service and my delicious main...5 stars.
Best restaurant in Vancouver, no contest. The beef carpaccio and the tuna appetizers are to die for!
Outstanding!
Always great food very busy at lunch in the Christmas season. Nice to see Umberto visiting the tables and socializing
What's not to love. Excellent food and outstanding service
We frequent this restaurant 6 or 8 times each year over the last 20 years and are always impressed with staff, food and quality of the entire experience.
Great night out for pre Christmas drinks, great atmosphere and crowd
It was a leasure to go there last night. Excellent service, food served hot, flavourful, and beautiful texture. The sea bass was superb, the duck breast was wonderful. Have to go more often.
When I told one of the ex-wives that I had gotten another reservation at, Il Giardino, she told me that this time, if I was going to write another review, that I should keep it simple, and that I should not write a whole book. Personally, I love reading my writing, but I will take her words under advisement, and will keep this review a little more manageable. I was excited when I got to the restaurant a few minutes before my reservation. They took me to a little table with a great view of the kitchen. I so enjoy watching a professional kitchen work in the heat of dinner service. A few of their crew members seemed to remember me from the last time that I was there, and they had me feeling at ease and laughing out loud in no time. I decided to go with three of the specials which were described to me when I was ordering. I started with the shrimp salad.
By far the best Italian restaurant in Vancouver! Chef/owner Umberto Menghi has multiple restaurants and a Villa in Tuscany. The restaurant oozes with warmth, comfort, and quality. And the same goes for the food and the people. An extraordinary local gem.
Great place
The food is ridiculously overpriced the staff were extremely rude.
One of the most beautiful restaurants in the city with high quality food. Our server was distracted and disengaged the entire evening. The staff in general were a bit pretentious, definitely rest on their laurels.
Great atmosphere food and service. :) love the red snapper!
Dine in
Excellent place to dine, very good towards allergies , food was amazing as was the service. Very busy place and well worth the price.we will return.
(Translated) Great (Original) Super
Great atmosphere and amazing food.
Service
very good pasta, but it is not cheap.
Amazing, as always there's no way they could ever disappoint. I've always loved everything I've had there. Hands down one of the best of not the best restaurant in town.
Pure salt and rude staff
Love coming here for the pasta!
One of the best restaurants in Vancouver
There is no better... Case closed
Every detail here is observed The food is very well done, service is very professional , nice decor. A little bit pricey but to have this quality is necessary to be in the high side.
The top Italian restaurant in Vancouver
haven't gone to Restaurant ....yet.... Just looked at their menu ...great selection but no prices ?? does anyone know how much the Calamari Fritturina is my wife loves the stuff? ...any prices would help Thanks
Best Italian restaurant in the city! Osso Bucco is to-die-for!
Lots of menu options, especially for gluten-free. The customer service here is amazing, good ambiance, decor, and location dt. Their lattes look like European lattes and are just as delicious! The server Carolina is always super friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is always packed, so be sure to make a reso. I suggested this restaurant for our christmas party dinner and all 20+ staff loved it, and they had never been before.
Spaghetti Al Nero Di Seppia Atlantic Lobster Medallion, Cherry Tomato Sauce (Squid Ink Spaghetti, Lobster medallions)..... highly recommend this dish for Spaghetti & Seafood lovers! You get the best of both worlds on one plate....great service too!
We had an incredible time here for dinner. The service and the food was amazing. The host went the extra mile to ensure we were seated at the garden terrace patio as requested, despite the busy night in the restaurant. Great place. Will return.
Just popped in for a quick Aviation after OMD Friday ,The original Rasta got up set so good to see him and Bobby ,room is pure 80's break out the shoulder pads

Food is great here! Beautiful space but I'm sorry to say, the service is a bit stuck up. It's a shame because I won't go back because of the service.
Went for a private party and had a great time. The food was excellent, service was great and atmosphere wonderful!
Came here on Friday the 3rd, somehow got a reservation 1hr before we came on a Friday night! The host was very nice, pulled out our seats for my mother and I. Our waitress was so fun and friendly, honest about her opinions with the food which was amazing! One of the best pasta bowls I’ve had- pricey but worth it.
Arguably the best Italian food in the city. Love the food and ambiance. Reservations recommended as it's usually full
The decor and staff here were lovely but I agree with the other reviewer who said this place isn't as fancy as it thinks it is. We had a lovely date night there and enjoyed the food. Our server was lovely too. While everything was good nothing was really stand out or exceptional about the food or service. We could have had the same experience for half the price somewhere else. Would go back for just a drink.
Service is prompt and professional Spacious restaurant with ample seating The bread they give you with try balsamic and olive oil is amazing Ordered the pasta Spaghettini Carbonara Tossed with Pancetta, Egg Yolk & Fresh Pecorino (it’s gets really salty at the end but still good) and lasagna (solid choice) Came to celebrate an occasion and it was a lovely place to dine, would come back!
A fantastic experience here. The decor was warming and welcoming, service was professional. Food was very enjoyable, had the calamari as appy and it was fresh and seasoned on point. Then the funghi risotto was spot on too. Main course was scallops, and it was magnificent. The wines by glass on offer were well selected, and overall, I would definitely go again.
Amazing service and excellent food!!!
LOVED it... the lasagna is to die for...
Was excellent first time there since they moved from Beach street
Beautiful restaurant with great Italian food
The Best in Vancouver for Italian. Amazing Food, Incredible Service, Lovely Decor and most of all Beautiful People taking care of you. The owner/manager Umberto and Bobby are also incredibly helpful and have a passion to deliver great food and great experience. ENJOY!!!
Excellent pasta dishes!
First time at Giardino. The mains and dessert was excellent. I couldn’t choose between two pastas and had a split of fettuccine with parma prosciutto and petit pois in a light cream sauce, and paccheri di gragnano with spicy italian sausage, pecorino cheese. They were both flavourful and delicious. Our server was Andrew and he was very excellent and we really enjoyed our interaction with him. Look forward to going back.
Amazing food and service every single time we eat here. I cannot say enough positive things about the food or service here. Quite simply: if you are willing to spend the money for it, then this is the best Italian food you will have in Vancouver. The service is also of the highest quality, with incredibly attentive and well-trained staff, a sommelier who has recommended excellent suggestions every time and it even has a few options for vegans though admittedly you will be limited to either one salad, one soup, or one of two pastas (all of which are fantastic).
The restaurant is very good The service was friendly, though not initially prompt when first seated, our waitress Larissa made up the slack and was kind and made our experience a good one. We will return as it is a special place for us and it is tried and true.
Our family favorite Italian restaurant in town. They are always busy, even on the weekdays. Service and food are great and consistent. Their valet is right up front which makes things easy especially when it's raining and you need to find parking.
The food and ambiance are excellent, if not a little dated. They accommodated allergy inquiries directly with the kitchen. The service was very slow. Drinks never arrived before the course of food and often not until after it was completed. Other drink orders didn't arrive at all. The food was great. Generally in 5 star dining places, the servers explain the food as they put it down. They talk it up and highlight ingredients and flavours. Here they dropped it and when queried knew almost nothing about it. Not even the ingredients on the side sauce for oysters. Neither the servers, nor the food runners could explain the ingredients of a sauce or the prep on various dishes nor any potential allergens unless they checked with the kitchen first. I have been to many restaurants and worked in the industry for 20 years, at the higher end of things all questions should be answered by staff educated in the menu. It's supposed to be a miniature vacation where cutlery comes down before the course and where one is treated to attentive and we'll thought out service points. For the price point and food quality being so very high, and the reputation of the establishment so longstanding, the service was truly abysmal.
Authentic taste of Italy.
Super fast and friendly wait staff. Food was excellent and decor was cuisine appropriate. Dessert was especially delicious! Thank you to the staff for making it a covid safe experience as well
Food was delicious and service was great! We really enjoyed ourselves, and will definitely visit again!

Amazing food
Great place for rendezvous!
I have eaten at Michelin star restaurants and this would rate in my top 5. Food, service and wine selection is fantastic. Thanks to Ryan and Bobby for a memorable evening
Coming to Giardino's is as comfortable as coming home for dinner - only the food is better! Way better!
Excellent food and ambience.
One of the best dinners I've had in a while!
Service
Sable Fish was amazing. The chicken just melted right off the bone. Server was great and lots of options to adjust the menu.
Great food & staff!
Great ambiance, great food! Can't beat it
This is probably the worst experience that we've had dining out... It started with the hostess, we came in to join our friends - the blonde middle aged hostess with mid-length curly hair was incredibly cold for no apparent reason. We get it that people have off days but most other Google reviews have also advised that staff here can be cold and rude. There was no hi, how are you? Just a "do you have a reservation". We told her that we already see our friends but yet she continued to ask what's the name that the reservation under and wouldn't let us just walk over to the table. One of our friends had asked our server if it would be possible to accommodate an additional guest (basically a yes or no question). Our waiter advised that we had to talk to this same hostess about this additional guest question. Instead of just saying no to our friend, she went off on a tangent noting that the initial guests were late (sorry parking in Yaletown/waiting for valet takes time). She then claimed that management is upset with us and doesn't want us there (that's a VERY BOLD statement to say to a paying customer). When another friend went to use their washroom, this same hostess was making inappropriate statements about the appearance of our party which is completely and utterly unprofessional. It's 2021, people have tattoos... For a high end restaurant, our waiter was not on the ball at all, desserts were missed and he kept on offering wine to a friend that told him 3X already that she doesn't drink any wine. Our bill was $1200, just to be treated with complete disrespect. There's better options in this city such as Savio Volpe, Nook and Autostrada osteria...
The best Italian in the city!!! Amazing food and service every single time we eat here. I cannot say enough positive things about the food or service here. Quite simply: if you are willing to spend the money for it, then this is the best Italian food you will have in Vancouver. Also, got to meet the owner, Umberto, was a super nice guy.
a great italian restaurant i went there for the first time. we can choice the seat “bar or restaurant.” both of seats have the same menu. i ordered a pasta and sparkling wine. so delicious! i would like to go there again!
Old school, servers gave defined sections so service and teamwork suffers. Pasta not made fresh so not up to a the standard one would expect given the price points.
Such an amazing patio! Wish I knew about this place sooner. Awesome ambiance
(Translated) Authentic Italian restaurant with a good dining atmosphere and stable food???? (Original) 道地的義大利餐廳,用餐氛圍很好,食物四平八穩????
Top notch
The ambience and staff were amazing. The pastas were all very fresh and tasty. But slightly on the salty side. Overall, very good experience
The food is really good, excellent taste and quality. The pastas are to die for!!!! But customer service specially the hosts at the door needs improvement. They’re not hospitable. I’ve been there a few times and I felt it every time
I don't see what the hype is about here. Good food and service but nothing exciting
Good food and service, a bit overpriced
We would say consistently one of the best Italian restaurants in metro Vancouver. Delicious food and excellent service.
Best Italian in Vancouver. Iconic!!
Fabulous place - a must go when in Vancouver. Make your reservation as early as possible - weeks before! Worth it.
Great food and atmosphere
Delicious food and great service. Not cheap, but you already know that. Very cool atmosphere.
(Translated) Excellent service. Impeccable dishes. (Original) Excellent service. Plats impeccables.
Always First Class!
I love the Slow Oven-Braised Veal Ossobuco. It's very well cooked with the wonderul sauce and the saffron risotto. The wine recommendation as well paired well with the veal. There were pre-appetizers too which was a nice touch. I definitely would recommend for a fancy date night or a fancy dinner with friends.
Fantastic food and service
Excellent food & service
Excellent eatery, atmosphere, pasta, and service. Great to see it continue in its present location.
Outstanding!!
Five star prices. Three star service. Must say this was less than expected. The restaurant certainly has beautiful ambiance and a who’s who crowd but when it comes to service it was lacking. Main course took over 2 hours from the time of arrival with over an hour lapsing between delivery of appetizers and mains. Food was brought out and just tossed on the table without presentation or description of what was being served. There was a several minute wait before pepper and parmesan were offered. Food while good wasn’t really outstanding. None of this is acceptable at this price point.
Oh MAN is this restaurant ever fantastic! I take our key staff on an anniversary dinner and this place is just PERFECT for it. We order as many different plates off the menu as we can handle and really spoil ourselves. Every item is always excellent. Might need to start going in for "Halfviversaries" LOL David Ford, Mortgage Advisor & Director
Dinner
Great food, trendy place. Nice outdoor courtyard in middle of restaurant.
Good for an upscale dinner ... pricey but not unreasonable
Fantastic spot for dinner and cocktails. Jesse is a very experienced bartender and is great at making you the perfect beverage
Still the best food in town
The valet is very rude. I live next door and they cause trouble for me and family, Very rude
Like going to some sort of gastronomic cathedral. Wonderful memories.
1 of the best in Vancouver
Service was great, food was okay. Our main dishes were good (but small) and the appetizers were not impressive at all. I had the half order of calamari as my appetizer and I didn’t even get through half of it. Anyway, the most disappointing thing about Giardino restaurant was the lack of atmosphere.
Beautiful beet and burrata salad. Most excellent. Staff attentive but not overly so. Always a good experience.
I went there for two times with my friend from Mexico and Taiwan, it’s always lovely environment and delicious food and professional service. I will visit they again.
Still a consistently superior experience. The food, service and ambiance make this one of the top restaurants for Vancouver. Just as good now as it was 30 years ago.
The best Italian restaurant in Vancouver hands down .
Beautiful interior, excellent service, excellent food--appropriate given their high price point.
One of the best restaurants in Vancouver- love the atmosphere, food, and wine!
Very good delicious food and drinks
Delicious Italian food! We couldn't decide so we shared half orders of everything that looked the most delicious.
Amazing food and wonderful service! Vancouver's finest!
Always great food and amazing service
Service is good, food is good but very crowded and loud environment. Tables are so close to each other can even move yourself.
Walking into the restaurant your immediately greeted at a desk which looks when you check in to a hotel. We sat at the bar which is obscurely tucked away to the right of the entry. The service at the bar was less than satisfactory with a person serving us who came across condescending with a untucked shirt and had no idea how to serve white wine. He was also rude when it came to the bill came. Quite the contrast to many other restaurants I might say. On the plus side, wine menu was solid, food was good and bathrooms were well designed and clean. The overall feel of the restaurant is a ok and dining room is quite nice but the decor is questionable. I honestly will not return to dine here. I was going to rate this a 2 but graciously gave them a 3.
I had made plans for my twin daughters 38th birthday to go for two days to Victoria, stay in the Empress and just make it a great weekend. Unfortunately friday morning the Harbour Air floatplane was cancelled due to the weather and saturday didnt look so good either. Friday night I phoned Giardino to see if i could still make reservations for Saturday night re their birthday. The lady who answered the phone was so extremely helpful when i explained the situation, she still was able to reserve a table for us that night. We had an amazing dinner as always, the service was impeccable by Krissy an all together a big thank you for making our evening so special eventhough Giardino was so very busy and people were waiting for their tables .

We arrived for a special occasion but aside from the decor, it was a disappointing experience. The food was way too salty - that's aways a bad sign in a restaurant. Our server rudely interupted several times and it was so bad that other guests in my party noticed and commented. They had us fed within an hour and a half. Appetizer, main and dessert. I didn't realize we were dining at a fast food restaurant. The one great thing about this restaurant is the interior design - stunning. But after spending $900 for an awful experience - no thank you and never again.
Never had the right oppprtunity, but alas, pleased to enjoy this Vancouver institution with good friends and colleagues. Pasta is amazing without a doubt, and can approve of common rave for the squid ink pasta. Main plate is of another level, the venison is among the best I've had. Most colleagues had the ossobuco and certainly nothing to complain about, other than it being great portions :).
Good food, service was a bit slow. I do agree with other reviewers how they say it's a bit overrated and it's an okay restaurant trying to be chic.
Good food, very nice restaurant and great service.
I had heard some good things about this place from my boss so we decided to give it a try. The concept seems a little obsolete, they don't rhave a cocktail list, they give you two pieces of old cold bread, and their service is lacking. I will say that the pasta was really good but for what they are offering the price is really outrageous, the food is comparable to Cin Cin on Robson and prices are about as double that. Still prefer Ask for Luigi or Nicli Antica Pizzeria or Nook. In general the food and the service are not that great.
The food, atmosphere, staff create such a memorable experience. Giardino's never disappoints! If you haven't been book a reservation today!!
Very famous Italian restaurant in Vancouver. Service and food is good. Pasta portion is ok. Price is on the high side as you would expect at the high end restaurant.
Decent food, decent service, nice decor, very busy but doesn’t live up to its fame. My family ordered some pasta and it is good but nothing special nor does it worth $30 per dish. Service is not as good as Blue Water Cafe, which is better value for sure. Ask for Luigi has way better and more creative flavors of pasta.
worst service ever, whatever you do don't make an order with Daryl, messed up my order 2 times in a row. This place is a joke
They make the best Chocolate martini. The food is literally that of heaven. It does get busy. Though the staff os very respectable. They are very clean, humble and fashionable. An absolute treat every time you dine there in my opinion. Clean, fast, productive service and astonishing food. Go. Its worth it. Ciao.
Great food and service!
Excellent food and service. A little noisy on the weekends.
Great but you pay a bitter price for it. - top service - top food - top atmosphere Portions are on the smaller side, and you should expect to get a $60 PER PERSON for one entree, one dessert, and one glass of wine (so nothing excessive). Very nice but probably still not justified.
By far the best Italian restaurant I have been to! Bison carpaccio is a must! Our group had lobster salad, it was fantastic! Pasta, ahi tuna, scallops, steak - all top notch! Pricey but worth every penny:)
Food..Ambience...Service....Wine. cannot decide the order. 5 Star all the way. We had a Italian friend with us. She loved it as well. She said it reminded her of home.
The food is tasteless and way to overpriced. Service and Atmosphere was good, but don't just pay for that ;-)
The specials menu was fantastic - good wine. Barolo was a winner.
Bad service - Booked two weeks before for birthday dinner and got a table in lounge. I felt I could just walk in if I want to have a table at the lounge. It looks like they gave me a leftover table. I booked this restaurant for my birthday few weeks earlier. I was looking forward to having a nice meal at here. When I got here, they gave me a table just next to entrance and I told them I wanted to have other table in side in stead of the table next to the door. They gave me a high top table for us next to the kitchen entrance. I told them I want to have a regular table in the main dining room. I thought it was reasonable request to change the table. As I booked early enough to get a table in the dinning area and I told them this is my birthday, I had a table in lounge and no one was not take care of us. Server came to us after 20mins we sat at the table in the lounge. Not too sure how ealry ppl book here to get a normal dinning table.
Service and the food was amazing, just our seat was kind of in a awkward part of the restaurant.
I really like
Service is 'the best' (perhaps anywhere) Unfortunately, my 'rack of lamb' (3 well sized pieces) was significantly over cooked - 'well' vs 'med-rare/rare' - and so disappointed. Too tough to finish. Have always had excellent customer service and their lamb has been my go to for decades, however, on this visit (it was on a Monday and I 'get that') resulted in not even finishing the entre due to being too tough and 'wrong'. I only do rack 'o lamb within their' family' of biz's - besides my own (the best - just is, I sorry) so would have appreciated an, 'it just isn't right tonite'. The staff are so professional / nice / accommodating (truly) that to render any complaint about The Rack was not an option. Hope they will still run / manage the Trat in Whistler after their reno's - as my fave venue of all. Hard to present this less than perfect review, and again: You will not find kinder, more professional service, 'anywhere'.
Expensive I found food too salty.
Amazing food and service! Pasta is amazing and the lamb and Sable fish photo'd below
Food is average; some distance between the price and the food quality. We didn't taste the freshness from the seafood. The saltiness of the squid ink pasta is overpowering; can't taste the lobster anymore. Staff are attentive, environment is good.
Excellent food and service
I have been here many times, I wish that they were open on Sundays but that would be asking a lot. Always have been spoiled by the great service received every time.
What a room! Great atmosphere set off with warm welcoming service. The energy could be whatever you want. Cozy and secluded or outgoing and involved, there is a space for everyone to enjoy some of the best food and drink in he city. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Gustavo was one of the best waiter that I have ever had. This man was waiting on me hand and foot. No matter what I needed he was there for me. I felt like I was at home. If it wasn’t for Gustavo I would not come back again. If you come to IL Giardino ask for Gustavo. He will do you right!
Excellent dining experience.
Went for a fancy 'valentines' date with my boyfriend. The atmosphere is beautiful and we got a really nice table for two plus they have coat service which is handy. The place was very expensive! That's not really an issue because we chose to go there ourselves and had an idea of how expensive it would be but it surpassed my expectations. Our meal for two ended up being $210 after tip. Mind you, we bought the most expensive item on the menu ($114), a cheap bottle of wine ($48) and we both had an appetizer (~$24). As students it was sort of a pain BUT we fully knew that it was a splurge date and were fine. The reason we were a bit surprised was because there are no prices on the online site so we went into it a bit blind. The food was very good! What I expected. We had the porterhouse steak and it was cooked medium rare and was so juicy I can't really complain. The service staff were the best part, always keeping on top of your table but never getting in your way awkwardly. Tbh, my final note is that there are most likely other places to get a great steak for a fraction of the price (my go to is Jules Bistro in Gastown). It cost us literally half price for steaks for two and they were phenomenal. At the end of the day it was a great place to try! We won't likely go back because of budget but if you have the money to splurge I wouldn't try to convince you otherwise.
My favourite restaurant in Vancouver, especially when you get a warm welcome from Umberto himself!!!
The best that's all I have to say
Wow, We had our anniversary dinner here on Saturday and the ambiance, service, and food was extraordinary! We felt like we were back in Italy! We will be back very soon!
