Must visit with your family nice place.
Delicious food, knowledgeable staff. Love the shared plate approach, great for both couples and large groups.
Had brunch here which was great. Nice menu and their jams are incredible, make sure to try them
Traveled all the way here after making a reservation to find it closed. Update your hours online and don't send a confirmation text on the day of to your customers when you've decided to close all of a sudden. Complete ignorance on your behalf, thank you for wasting my time and money on this commute.
Quality. Service. Class. Location. Taste. Portion size. All top shelf! Very impressed and pleasantly surprised. TRY. IT. !
The food was amazing! Knowledgable and good service and a nice vibe as well
Great place,15-20 minutes wait,if you want coffee ask them for a French press,it's like having 3 cups for 4.50.
We ate here for the first time recently and found the vegetable dishes quite extraordinary. The seafood less so (we tried the oysters and the salmon, perfectly fine but not up to the veg). So, even if you are not a vegetarian I would recommend weighting toward the veg side of the menu, which is extensive. I really like how they encourage sharing and wished more restaurants would do that. The local wine list was also wonderful, not being too familiar with wines from this area it was a real treat. Service was excellent. Overall its a 4.5-star restaurant. They get a 5 for making the locavore effort.
This place is not only known for cooking outstanding breakfast, Forage is a pioneer in responsible management. Had the alpine juniper duck confit...quite delicious. Try their scones :)
best place for brunch in downtown. Hands down, the best. Very friendly staff, not stuck up at all unlike some top restaurants in the city. You'll enjoy a small menu of excellent dishes with locally sourced ingredients. be sure to leave room for the pancakes. you must also have the homemade ketchup. its legit. thank me later folks. However, you should make a reservation through open table so you don't have to wait.
Came here for Dine Out Vancouver 2017 with three of my friends and we had an amazing experience! It was two of my friends first time coming here, and they absolutely loved the experience. I had the chowder (appy), pork belly (entrée), and chocolate hazelnut bar (dessert). All three courses were made to perfection. Our waiter, Sebastian, was also an absolute delight. We are definitely going to come back again soon too check out more from the menu!!
We go for brunch every Sunday with our small social bubble. So we experienced some places already. However, Forage was outstanding. The scones were soft and still warm. The corned bison brisket hash was amazing. And the salted duck yolk custard stuffed french toast was just divine! Best so far!
Swanky & way overpriced. Menu is very limited. We had a glass of wine & 2 mixed drinks and spent $46.00. The hotel is great, but this place, not so much.
Incredible server. Sebastian knows his menu, is enthusiastic about the product, and maintains a sense of humour throughout the dining experience. The kitchen serves luscious local produce, and the veggie dishes (“Soil”) were delightful- the beet salad and gnocchi were beautifully presented and flavourful. Do not miss the fry bread in spicy honey with cheddar, I would even consider it for dessert. 10 craft beers on tap (like Timber next door with whom they share bathrooms), an extensive BC wine list, and crafted cocktails. The imposing bar in the centre of the room makes the surrounding tables and booths quite intimate and comfortable. The menu changes seasonally, so I expect to return again soon to try some new selections. Popular prices for foodie quality dining.
It really doesn't get any better than this. It's our number one go-to spot for breakfast or brunch and now dinner as well. Living in the White Rock area, if it's a special occasion we will drive in for brunch [no one I know serves anything close to their corned bison hash with kale, made in-house sauerkraut, IPA mustard hollandaise - OMG], and if it's stay-cation time at the Listel, it's both this and dinner. Fresh, uniquely creative, diverse, sourced locally - and that's just the servers. But seriously, that applies to the menu for sure, and all the staff - well, it's hard to call them that when they all make us feel like family. We guarantee, if you haven't been here yet, time to find out what the rest of us know - Forage doesn't disappoint.
Really great brunch and love their classic breakfast. Ordered the iced coffee and they didn't have oat milk.. that's the only con. We ordered the scone special of the day and it was great!
Their food is absolutely delicious. Good vibe. A pleasant experience everytime I went. But making reservations is highly recommend
I’ve visited this place for drink one night before, but this time I tried their brunch! It was busy on Sunday and waiting for meal a little bit longer, but they never left me disappointed! Staff was friendly and nice, I also love the atmosphere. I highly recommend this place!
The food was all amazing. We loved the sharing style and all the portions were quite generous for "small plates". The beer and wine selections were also both excellent. It is a bit pricey, but very much worth it. Our bill was $150 for two people -- including two drinks each as well as a shared dessert.
Exceptional. Share plates are well seasoned with seasonal ingredients locally sourced. I have high praise for both the tuna and the bison dishes. Tasting menu is worth it!
Weren't the biggest fans of this place but it got the job done to fill us up and the service was great.
I love Forage, every time I got there I have a unique and flavourful meal. Locally sourced foods make for some awesome dishes. Specifically, you should order the honey and cheese pan bread. I have also have a number of different types of gnocchi here and every time it has been fantastic. Save room for dessert because it is also fantastic!
5 star service and food! We had a wonderful brunch, we went on a weekday and it was not busy at all. Great clean design, all the food is locally sourced and it was difficult to pick just one thing off the menu. They all sounded so good! Highly recommend if you are in Vancouver. I am a vegetarian and there were many options and adaptions available.
Charcuterie board is usually pretty solid. When it comes w tiger blue is the best.
We recently had Forage cater our wedding and they did a fantastic job! Over the past few years Forage restaurant has become a favourite and when we learned that they offer catering, we knew we wanted them to cater our wedding. Their pricing was competitive, the service was excellent on the day, including the bar service, everything ran seamlessly even though our venue did not have a kitchen and the deserts were customized for us and totally fantastic! The chef was great and willing to make modifications to dishes so they were perfect for us and our guests. We got tons of compliments from guests on the dinner, some even saying it was the best meal they've ever had. The bar service was also excellent. They helped us come up with a menu and made beautiful cocktails that were a highlight for lots of our guests. The only hiccup was that our contact changed 3 times from when we booked to our actual wedding date but the last contact who came in the month before was on the ball and very easy to communicate with and make sure everything was perfect!
Great breakfast menu! If you’re looking for a hearty breakfast I definitely recommend the turkey hash and you can get your eggs done any way. I did mine poached and they were very good. The servers were all so nice. And I really appreciated that my waitress offered some other options I didn’t consider. I wanted a nice hot savory meal but also wanted to try something sweet like the scones. She right away mentioned it came with two in case I wanted to just request one and even swap out the toast from my meal with a scone instead. So I got the best of both worlds. Thanks for the great experience. Highly recommend!
Wow! My boyfriend and I are both chefs and we have found our new favourite spot to eat. This hidden nook on Robson took us on quite a culinary trip. We were pampered from beginning to end. Our server made sure we were well taken care of and was genuinely interested in talking with us. The food was immaculate, there were so many new and incredible combinations and textures. You can taste/tell the menu is thoroughly thought out by the chef. I thought the art of socializing whilst eating was lost but, the ambience of this restaurant proves that theory wrong. Overall an incredible experience! Very excited to visit again
Really tasty breakfast/brunch! Excellent food! Even if the price is a bit steep, it is worthwhile.
I was in Vancouver for five nights, and after eating here the first night, I decided to come back two more times. Each time I dined alone, at the bar. The bartenders were friendly (especially Nick) and the service was excellent and timely. The food far exceeded my expectations. It was creative and delicious without being pretentious. I love local, creative food but am sometimes put off by a presentation that is too "pretty," but this wasn't the case at Forage. I had halibut the first night, bison steak the second, and salmon the third. All excellent. I also appreciated the fact that, while Forage was on a busy commercial street full of life, it was outside of the main tourist areas of Waterfront and Gastown. Highly recommend.
Dinner
Delicious food and great service. Had the bagel with smoked salmon and it was so delicious! The greens we're very fresh and the salmon was flavorful without being too fishy and had great texture.
Best brunch spot in town, but be sure to make a reservation as they are packed on the weekends. I could write a whole other review for dinner, which is also great.
Beautiful locally sourced ingredients prepared and plated the way you expect. Everything was cooked and seasoned very well! Will be going back!
Food was delicious. The star of the show was their duck chowder which was like nothing else I’ve had. Atmosphere was great, the decor, music and lighting provide a nice experience while eating. overall a really nice place to eat. The “small plates” are truly small so don’t be afraid to have lunch before you come here for dinner.
Fabulous cocktail!! Frittata was perfect when it came out, but overcooked by third bite from sitting in hot skillet and I didn't have time to return. Candied bacon amazing! French toast was dry but rhubarb compote and jams were very tasty.
Service
Tried their dine out menu with a friend, and it was just okay. The first course tuna crudo was delicious, and the service was great hence three stars. I had the ling cod entree which was overcooked, the server had it remade and the second time it came out perfect, however it wasn’t very flavourful or exciting. For dessert I had the sorbet which was just okay but understand they had limited dairy-free options. Drinks and wines were well-paired.
The food was amazing, this is now one of our top 10 Friday night date night restaurants. The ingredients were so fresh, the food had a lot of flavor, every dish we had was excellent. The menu is set up to order dishes for sharing so if you want individual orders just let your waitress know that. We tried the bison (soooo good!), the gnocchi was perfectly cooked and tasted just like a baked potatoe and we had the beet salad. The menu was organized by sea, land and soil which accommodates all types of eaters. We will be going back!
Impecable. Great great dishes prepared with care and fresh ingredients. Good selection of wines, beers and cocktails. Competent service. Excellent experience.
The first thing that stands out is the service. All of them were very friendly and checked in on us enough to make sure everything tasted good and actually told us some fun facts about the food and where it came from. We had the turkey hash with poached eggs and scones. The scones were very good, my favorite was the spiced scones with cranberries. The hash was also excellent, I just wish there was more of it since it was so good and went quickly.
Fresh squeezed orange juice, green shake yummm. We ordered brioche without bacon and I found it little too dry while the husband ordered omelette and it was great. The waitress replaced bacon with fruits ????
Best gnocchi I’ve ever had!
I always have a great experience dining here. Waiters are attentive and great at pairing wines and food. The food is sourced locally and recipes are developed by Chef Whittaker . awesome experiences.
Food are carefully put together for your tastebuds to enjoy. Each plate is beautifully presented. Servers with good knowledge of wine to go with food. Impressive!
Fantastic brunch spot on Robson. Food is exceptionally fresh and feature local ingredients and suppliers. Service is very good and they have a great selection BC beer, wine and cider. I prefer Forage for brunch over dinner as I feel the portions are a little on the small size and even when sharing several have left me wanting more.
Pretty darn good food, great decor, and... wait for it... awful service. In my 90 minutes there for brunch, the people to our left and right were left without cutlery, we practically had to beg to get coffee refilled, our water was never once refilled, and not a single staff member could crack a smile. The front of house is a mess - I'm surprised my food even came hot.
The brunch is to die for! We've never had a bad meal. Thoroughly recommend it.
Dinner
Is a bit expensive, food isnt bad, but I've had better for less. The service is amazing and the place itself is very welcoming.
Outdoor communal table was great to sit at! We were seated as soon as we arrived, despite the place being totally booked up. The service was amazing and our server was super outgoing and very knowledgable! My entire family loved the dish sharing experience, and the food itself was delicious! If I ever visit Vancouver again, Im definitely going back :)
Wow! Had the ham aged in red wine with duck fat roasted potatoes... Phenomenal! Everything was delicious. Service was patient. Definitely a great spot for an occassion. It felt more upscale than my usual brunch.
I tried their dine out menu. The menu is $45 but there are available upgrades when you get to the restaurant. I had the duck for appetizer, which was yummy but just 3 very thinly sliced pieces that I finished in a zip. I wouldn’t not recommend it. For my main I upgraded for $8 to the bison steak. The steak was really good and the mashed potatoes it came with. For dessert I had the cheese puff dessert with vanilla ginger ice cream and gin infused blueberries. The dessert was really good and also a large portion, the blueberries were yummy and didn’t taste much like gin which I actually liked. The ice cream did come melted. My boyfriend upgraded his main for $8 and got the sablefish and octopus, and added a scallop for $10. The extra $10 only came with one scallop. I thought his main was just okay, as well as the scallop. I would not order the sablefish or scallop again. Overall I was underwhelmed. Not a horrible experience but I wouldn’t come here again. Not worth $$
Went by my self to a family style service restaurant. I ordered meat from the starter menu and veggies from the bigger plates, then dessert. It was a lot of food but totally doable for one. The thinly sliced beef starter was excellent and the asparagus, morel dish was so tasty I wanted to lick the plate. As for the rhubarb dessert, it was one of my favorite all time desserts. The service was very courteous. When I visit Vancouver again this will be one reservation I'll make in advance.
BAD SERVICE. I really don't want to give this place any stars, but I'm trying to be reasonable here. So, I made a reservation for my anniversary dinner for a table inside, but they gave me an outside seating. When I said no, they offered for a hightop table and said that we may not sit inside because there are more reservations later on (I don't understand why we are not considered first when we clearly reserved it before them). We ordered an appetizer, salads and a main dish. We waited over an hour and still we couldn't get our main dish. It was after 10 minutes since our server told us that they are plating our dish that we couldn't wait longer and that we canceled our order. No appologies at first, and we tried to be reasonable, but I sincerly hope they DON'T ruin someone else's precious night, especially if it's an anniversary. Their food is good, and that's the only reason for the generous two stars. DON'T GO FOR YOUR ANNIVERSARY DINNER.
I had heard about Forage for several years, its reviews universally positive. I vowed on my next visit to Vancouver I would make a point to eat there. That opportunity occurred a few days ago. While waiting 30 minutes to be seated, I saw the many awards and praise Forage has gleaned over the years. (They hang to your left as you enter Forage.) And when finally guided to our table, I noted the palpable thrum of excitement in the room. All good, so far. But our 'table' proved to be two seats at the bar - immediately next to the waiters' station. For these seats we waited 30 minutes? Worse, the room itself was stifling hot. Was the air conditioning broken? I noticed the manager or owner wearing shorts with his sport jacket. Would have been nice to receive a warning of excessive warmth before waiting. And then our meals arrived: distinctly NOT appetizing in appearance. Also not hot, not even warm. And not very tasty. I scanned the menu again, and noticed what I missed originally: not many greens. So why the name Forage? Our waiter was excellent, the only good item about our experience. For example, the bartender refilled our water -- but placed his hand firmly on the rim of our glasses. You know, where our lips go to drink. I am sure he did that to kill any back splash - but so much for cleanliness. And so much for water. When leaving, I noticed Forage's many awards were from years ago, none recent. It seems clear to me that Forage, while still basking in popularity, is well-past its sell-by date. We will not return.
The food was good but the service was great. They were about half an hour late giving us our reserved table but more than made up for it by giving us a round of free drinks while we waited at the bar. The food menu itself was also unique and nicely done.
A wonderful experience filled with fantastic dishes and drinks from BC. Refreshingly unpretentious and benefitting from well informed waiting staff and an excellent chef. I can highly recommend the tuna and lamb whilst they are on the menue! We will definitely be back.
Great food and beer, fantastic service, price reflects the quality and care given to preparing the best meal we had in Vancouver BC.
Do yourself a favour and grab a couple of your close friends and stop by here for some phenomenal food and drink.
I went here with my co-workers a few days ago. We were all satisfied with the food and kindness of the staff. All~~~~ good!!!
Amazing food! The local ingredients are delicious and healthy and the presentation is beautiful. The service was very pleasant and attentive with numerous water refills and dish clearing. It’s easy to find on Robson street and has lots of other things in the nearby businesses. Great place to walk to from pretty much anywhere in the downtown.
Chic and cozy farm-to-table spot with amazing food highlighted by their quality ingredients. I ordered the Turkey sausage hash with toast and it had a medley of zucchini, carrots, roasted potatoes, kale, and pesto which gave the dish a distinctively earthy and hearty flavour profile. The sausages were from a nearby farm and the eggs were free range which were bonuses. The service was friendly and timely and the spot was very clean. Overall, very deserving of all the high praise and awards!
Between four of us we all thoroughly enjoyed all of the exceptional food.. Wonderful flavors in the chowder, duck pate, mushroom, salmon, duck, brussel sprouts etc ..
Amazing food, and service.
This restaurant can accommodate vegans with some modifications, the atmosphere is solid but the patio in the back has more AstroTurf than atmosphere, so I'd recommend some people watching from the windows.
Outstanding flavor with a few key ingredients. Truly local pride in their ingredients and brilliant at wine pairings that make a good meal extraordinary! I'll definitely be back. Don't be shy to ask Peter or anyone at the bar for the perfect wine or spirits pairing.
Food was excellent for these pricey meals but service was very slow and servers appeared disinterested. Manager on duty spent most of his time chatting with staff.
Forage is a beautiful restaurant.. However my experience last night was so bad.... We had booked a reservation a week prior as this was our special Valentine's dinner and we were so Excited.... Our order took almost an hour... I had to ask 2 staff what was happening before we actually got an answer and than our miraclulously the $150.00 platter arrived.... For the price we paid to have dinner and a bottle of Okanagan wine I was very very dissatisfied with the service..... Sorry Forage... But you get a 1 star from me.
Family style plates makes it ideal for small groups. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic! The waiter was knowledgeable in offering wine pairing selections and helped us make sure we ordered the right amount of food as it is sometimes hard to judge portion sizes when plates are family style. All in all a phenomenal dining experience!
Great food, interesting combinations with up to date cooking techniques. A definite most for all chefs and wannabe foodies.
Excellent food from an unusual menu. Enjoyed every morsel. Thoroughly recommend for dinner.
Restaurant is small. Regular table are full and we have to sit on bar table. The bar table chair is very uncomfortable. This is for a fine dinner and pay a high menu price. We should have a proper sitting.
The desserts and tea were great. Service was okay, we had to wait so long to put orders, get our food and get the bills!???? but staff are very friendly and polite:) make sure you reserve ahead if you're going for brunch or dinner as it's usually very busy.
Visited here for brunch, there are not variety of options, delicious food and nice staff Make reservation as it is very busy
Wonderful experience! The waiter/staff were so friendly!!! Their White Manhatten was very interesting (made with an un-aged whiskey), and the food...two words: Beautiful + delicious. They've done an amazing job utilizing local ingredients, and I reccomend anyone to check out this wonderful restaurant.
Had their roasted kale salad. Good price and nice atmosphere but there was something spicy in the salad dressing that I didn't "love". Good salad overall.
This is a restaurant that values community and quality in it's food and menu! It's a busy restaurant so my friend & I sat at the bar which was a great decision as we were served by an experienced bartender who had great information to share with us demonstrating great depth of knowledge about the restaurant and the community. He and a 2nd bartender easily bantered and laughed with patrons, while ensuring everyone was well taken care of. The food was fresh, full of flavour and locally sourced, it was a terrific experience.
Really really nice place. The food is usually shared between the table, so plan accordingly. The dishes are usually amazing and the servers agree nice and enthusiastic. Definitively a place to take a date to.
Came here from calgary based on reviews from friends of the owner and the family that runs it, from the time that we ordered and finished it seems like we met the whole family, they are transparent about the wait for the food and BOOM, be ready for one the best best pork belly sandwiches you have ever had. 10/10 would recommend to order because I promise you would never get sick of it.
Meal type
Excellent food and drinks, recommended if you want a sustainably sourced meal that still tastes amazing!
We love this place! Spectacular food, superlative service 10/10
This place is nice, the regular things they have are hitters but sometimes their specials arent as great. Its a pretty penny place however I can't say I have been disappointed by them yet.
Went with a friend with reservation for weekend brunch. The reception guy was very unprofessional but the waiter was pleasant, which made things even out a bit on service. We ordered the turkey sausage and bison egg dish. Good flavor, slightly heavy on oil and big portion. Will come again to try other dish sometime cause it’s so close and convenient.
Pretty good brunch spot. The liver on toast is absolutely delicious. Bison and hash with the mustard sauce was good. Atmosphere is great. Service at the bar was very friendly.
The quality of food is good. Although I still don't know think my chicken flat bread had any chicken on it. The service was good enough, nothing really to love or hate. Just don't go in hungry, all dinner plates are large appetizers at best. $7 for local beers...which is more expensive than most places charge for imports!
Was impressed by the usage of seasonal and locally foraged ingredients. Food was very good overall: balanced and well presented. Service could be improved: our server didn’t tell us the specials of the day and we only overheard it when another table was being served. Also we were served red wine in white wine glasses :) One thing we found strange were the TV screens mounted on the walls with photos of their food on the loop, I don’t think those are necessary at all and are a little bit annoying.
Always impressed with their food - so delicious and flavourful!
I'd say if you're stopping at Vancouver for the night and you have only one chance at a dinner in the city, go to Forage. Everything is local, and delicious, from appetizer to dessert.
Celebrated my birthday at Forage and overall had a great experience dining in here for the first time. Our server was Renzo, he was very informative with the menu and did a great job explaining the special for the night which was the board with bison and sable fish. Thanks to him we had a good time here! Absolutely stunned by how tender and flavorful the bison was! Everything was just right on. Carpaccio was disappointing, didn’t find anything special about it, perhaps it needs to have more toppings? Not sure, wasn’t memorable. Would definitely recommend friends to try this place out and order the board dish on date night to share. You can expect food to take longer to arrive but worth the wait!
Food is fresh, in house made sauces are the bomb !
Great place. Super tasty! If you don't have a reservation you need to sit at the bar though.
I love this place. Tonight my girlfriend and i split 5 plates (bison included) and 4 drinks - bill was only $125. You cannot get food this good for that value in this city anymore. The last of a dying dining culture, and thank god its here in Vancouver.
D E L I C O U S food. we have been twice and are looking for reasons to go back soon. The service is very very good. I almost don't want to tell you all to go there because then it will be harder to us to get in!
Singlehandedly the best food experience I’ve ever had. My friend and I visited Vancouver, we came from Ottawa. We saw the menu and knew it was right up our alley. We went their for brunch which was exquisite - so much so that when we left the restaurant we made a reservation for dinner there that night too. It did not disappoint. Everything tastes fresh, made with passion - and service was excellent. Shoutout to our server Tadeo who went above and beyond to ensure we were enjoying our meals, drinks and experience. Kudos to this restaurant for being a highlight of our trip. We will be back!
Excellent service and an amazing meal. The dessert was a very nice finish to the whole affair.
Easy 5 stars. Im a chowder guy, and Im not joking that this chowder is the best I've ever had! Probably the best in Canada!
Tried their dine out menu and was surprisingly disappointed, even though I had really high hopes for them after hearing so many good reviews. Both the bison steak and sablefish was just okay in terms of flavour, nothing out of this world. Same thing for the appetizers and dessert but great plating though. Loved the chowder, that was the only highlight for me and also our server. Tbh, for the food and experience I received I wouldn't go back. I'm pretty petite and I left the restaurant hungry. Paying $45 I would expect to be full at least or have great flavour/experience but overall it was pretty lackluster for me. I know the restaurant is small but I was literally packed like sardines at the back of the wall. I was touching shoulders with the lady next to me. Not my type of dining sorry. Very disappointed.
We didn't connect very well with our waiter, he seemed a bit distracted, drinks were quite different from one to the next despite ordering the same thing - but the food was delicious!
Delicious meal, and lovely service.
Good food, nice vegetarian options. Nice for large groups where they do set menu with lots of options for variety.
Best of BC. Every dish is creative and perfectly executed. Tried most on the menu and yet to find a bad dish. Great BC wine and beer selection as well.
It has good food all accross the menu. It is neat it is clean and with an ambiance emanating optimistic joyfulness. Anyone feel very comfortable as service is courteous and friendly.
Meal type
Always a treat, great atmosphere, almost always busy, so be sure to book ahead on weekends! Salted duck yolk custard french toast was as rich as the title. Bring your sweet tooth. Brisket hash is a stable go to.
Great dinner experience. The food is amazing and reasonably priced for what you get. Our waiter was quite friendly and knew the dishes very well. The menu is diverse and has something for everyone, and there is a great selection of local beer and wine.
Brunch is fantastic, eggs Benedict was remarkable, the homemade hot sauce and ketchup was great. Sourdough bread was so good. Service was excellent.
We came to Forage because of dine out, and it was absolutely AMAZING! They are very accommodating to a gluten free diet. There chefs are very knowledgeable about Celiac's disease and I felt like I was able to relax and not worry about getting glutened. I had a dark and stormy as my drink and they used really nice rum for it. The staff is super nice and the food is great! Definitely going back!
Strong espresso macchiato and savory jams for toasts!
Josh was our server and he was amazing, always checking on us but not so much that it was overbearing. He recommended the pork belly confit which was out of this world. The restaurant has an amazing atmosphere and has beyond amazing out of this world food.
Very good and it was only a 20 minute wait. Got the pesto sausage skillet and it was amazing. The smoked bbq ham skillet with maple syrup and gravy is the best though. My other friends got the last two and it was the best thing on the menu.
Excelent restaurant with seasonal menu and great wine list. The best waiter is Sebastian!
Good food and good service. But it is more on the pricey side. Because of that you would expect a little better food.
Had a terrific experience during their dine-out Vancouver menu! 2022. Thanks!
We went for brunch. Way overpriced for the food/service. 4$ coffee that tastes like water? No thanks, definitely not coming back.
Great service, kept checking on us but didn't hover. The French Toast was delicious. Love the atmosphere.
Exquisite local dishes with amazing flavour and ingredients. Really value the ethos of this restaurant as well, e.g. the focus on sustainability sourced, ethical ingredients. We went for the Dine Out menu last night and it was to die for. The Bison, Lincod and cheese puff dessert are must tries. We also received fantastic service - a special thanks to our highly skilled, patient and welcoming server. I apologize that I have forgotten your name. Can't wait to come back!
Excellent food. My husband and I ate here with our friends during Dine Out Vancouver. Everything we ate was excellent! Nice ambience. The waiter was great. Engaging and helpful. Portions are small, but not too small. My husband and his friend were still a little hungry after our 3 course meal but the ladies felt like it was the perfect amount of food.
Been wanting to try this place forever and happened to be in the neighborhood at dinnertime. There is a lovely little garden patio in the back. The food and service exceeded all our expectations. Food was imaginative, fresh, beautifully presented and the service was fantastic. Wine list was also great and not overpriced. Can't wait to go back!
One of the best damn meals I’ve ever had.. AMAZING food and great wine list ????????
The restaurant is a good size and even when full did not feel loud or over crowded. Service was fantastic, our server explained the menu to us (small plates for sharing, most couples opt for 3-5 plates depending on size) and provided us with suggestions when asked, all of which were phenomenal. We had a wine flight each, bison, duck and gnocchi plates - every single one looked amazing and was just as delicious as the last. Dessert was a special and was fresh and tarte. All in all, a great date night.
Favorite brunch but wish they had better hours. Last call at 2 would be soooo much better
Went for a Saturday brunch after gym work out. Delightful interior design with wood panels. Maple gravy ham over buttermilk biscuit is so tasteful. Definitely worth visiting!!
The meal was really really good. The seafood chowder is outstanding! I had the seared tuna and it melts in your mouth. The food presentation is pretty cool as well with a creative flair to how the food is arranged on the plate. Service is fast and very warm and friendly.
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. I am not an adventurous eater, but explored outside of my comfort zone at Forage and it did not disappoint. Really good, well thought out food and concept. Service was phenomenal- thank you SO MUCH, Rachel! She was very patient and knowledgeable, and made the whole experience that much better. Cocktails were good as well. Thank you to the entire Forage team for such an amazing experience!
Homemade jams with toasts are tasty!
Came here for breakfast. Great service but I swear they pulled single espresso shots but added double espresso worth of water in my americano, tasted watered down as hell. Lots of fruit flys which was odd.
This chef/kitchen team is in the zone. Went in for brunch and was blown away by some of the technique and creativity. The custard for the french toast was a technique I haven't seen before and was freaking delicious. The flavors in the baked eggs with tomato and lentils were beautiful. My girlfriend and I were sharing and couldn't decide when to switch back because they were both so good
Fantastic cooking & experienced staff. He recognizes I am Swiss even I am speaking English ????????
Good locally sourced food. Execution on certain parts was spot on, but not quite 5 stars overall. Worth trying.
Great atmosphere! I went for breakfast and loved their coffee. Ordered the French toast and was slightly disappointed by the very tiny amount of rhubarb sauce that was served with it - resulted in the French toast feeling kind of dry.
Great service. Yummy seasonal fare at reasonable prices. Cocktails are great. The vegetarian fare is a little on the "rabbit food" side but still delicious. I'll be back!
We enjoyed their Vietnamese style bison carpaccio & Salmon. Wine pairing is great. Love the ambience and the service.
Pleasant service and a very flavourful food.
Our new favorite restaurant. You must try their duck chowdah
Do yourself a favour and visit this place. You will leave as a happier person, regardless of what you eat or drink here.
Loved the place and brunch
Came for breakfast and dinner. Food is absolutely amazing, fresh and local ingredients. Wine and beer selection is pretty good and service is incredible!
Absolutely great food at breakfast. There is great service and awesome waffles. It has a great ambiance and just is an amazing place.
Amazing service, deliscious food, great experience!
Fantastic Christmas Dinner. Great service, good wine pairings, authentic British Columbia
Service
I am a MAJOR foodie - I have eaten in any number of world class restaurants and worked with many world class chefs - so when I say a restaurant is outstanding, it has to have hit a pretty high bar. Forage has everything I look for when I want a special dining experience: convenient location, not too big or small, well thought out design, layout, lighting, seating arrangements, excellent service, great menu options and the food...dear god, the food. Everything made in-house, with knowledge of and passion for local, seasonal foods. I am not a paté person (they so often disappoint) but one taste of their in house paté and I pretty much claimed the entire thing for my own. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable pd the menu and the wines and very personable. I could go on at length, but let me just say that date night or a night out with friends, this would be my choice. 5 weel deserved stars from me.
Great local fare, the food was delicious for brunch. I had a former chef recommend this place to me and he was not wrong! But don't take my word for it try it for yourself!
Been in Vancouver 6 weeks and this is the best place I've eaten. Great quality food, well presented, and I thought portions were more then enough. Had the bennies and omlette. Bennies were great, perfectly cooked eggs, delicious (proper) bacon, sauce was delicious. The omlette was a little plain for me. But the jams that came with the toast were amazing. Would come again for them alone. Coffee was delicious. No need for cream, which is a first outside of the hipster coffee joints. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast or brunch. But book before or get here early. Otherwise, there will be queues.
Forage! You never let me down! It has been a while since I had been to Vancouver, and therefore a while since I had been to Forage. I could not pass it up on my recent trip. In order to fit all things in, I had breakfast there. I was seated at a table in the courtyard. Nice and bright! Had the house corned bison brisket hash with fried eggs. Another amazing dish. The taste! The quality! The presentation. The service! All we’re great. Thanks for a great meal. Looking forward to my next return.
Amazing food! With a menu that changes and daily specials you will never go wrong here. We got a spin on the surf and turf board and it was enough for 3, the sable fish melted in the mouth and bison 3 ways was incredible. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and really contribute to the dining experience.
Wow ???? It was delicious, staff very polite, we didn’t wait to be placed and the place was comfortable. Plurality of choices, well-dosed, I such like the bison (rare in the menu) and really recommend this dish ! Thank you !
This restaurant is amazing. The food is all locally sourced and it is delicious. The staff were amazing and the experience was incredible. We enjoyed a lot of different menu items and ordered the beer and wine flights to try. Highly reccomend!
Not cheap but food is great, normally space at the bar my favorite spot but if you want one of the tiny tables make a reservation. Come here often you will not be disappointed
We ordered a board to share of bison steak and it was Soo good! Well worth the ordering and shared many other dishes. The waitress was amazing and so helpful. Gave us great recommendation and really offered sincere service. Luckily we made reservation and arrived early, it does get busy after 7pm.
Meal type
By far the best meal we had in Vancouver during a 5-night stay. The dishes are delicious and creative. My fresh halibut came with fiddleheads -- furled ferns -- in a nettle sauce, with nettle greens and herring dumplings. Coworkers had the tuna with squash, mushrooms, pine gnocchi, and soil -- which looked like the real thing but was actually roasted mushrooms. Staff were honest and knowledgeable. Smart but unpretentious place. We went here early in our stay and after many of the following dinners we said we wished we had gone back to Forage instead.
Amazing food and nice atmosphere, usually really busy so reservation is recommended.
Dined with Forage for Dine Out Vancouver. I'm always disappointed with the portion sizes that are served for this event. Although each dish was tasty, there was hardly more than 3 or 4 bites. The general atmosphere is also a bit underwhelming for such an expensive spot. My partner and I went for sushi after.
We tried the restaurant on the advice of a Listel Hotel employee's rave reviews and the posted Happy hour specials. It did not disappoint. The maitre d was kind, attentive, gave good recommendations, and remembered us when we walked by the next day. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. It was a wonderful dining experience.
Everything about the meal was excellent. I liked the slightly noisy busy atmosphere too. This is a family-style, small-plate restaurant with a good variety of dishes to share. Each dish we had was a delicious combo of flavors and artfully presented. It's not a cheap place to eat but given the quality I would say it was easily worth the money. The salmon was the favorite among my crew.
Great spot for Sunday brunch, make sure to make a reservation. Loved that you can get a half order of the pancakes, or the benny's
Food are great and Decent alternative to chain restaurants, which its still a slightly higher tier. Prices high like typical Vancouver and bill racks up high quick.
This place blew us away. Food, wine, service and atmosphere was absolutely perfect. This will be on my favorite restaurant list. Thank you very much for the excellent meal.
Dinner
OMG. The BBQ duck chowder was amazing, and the potato gnocchi melted in my mouth with its chanterelle mushrooms and local cheese mix made into a foam. I came here not knowing this restaurant at all....what a phenomenal surprise. Also, it has a lovely, cozy feel. The staff are also so friendly.
Oh my goodness, you guys. We sat at the bar for their Dine Out Vancouver meal. Nick, the bartender, was an incredible rescource. He helped us pick out our wine pairings and gave us an amazing education on Okanogan Valley wines. 10/10 would eat and drink with Nick again!
Really interesting restaurant with great servers, providing BC-sourced food, wines and beers. All cooked and served with obvious intelligence and interest in good presentation without the fussiness you can get at some places. We had a simple three-plates meal between two of us including the really excellent mushroom dish. We stuck to a glass of cider and, in my case, a good BC IPA. I was impressed. Breakfast is also a really nice experience here. Worth trying!

The carpaccio was really good. Nice selection of local wine. The beer list is not so rich though.
Forage came highly recommended and the food was good but it all felt very rushed. From sitting down to paying was 50 minutes. Our orders came out lightning quick and my flat white (which was not really a flat white but a latte) came to me less than 30 seconds after I ordered it. The food was nice but the Benny was nothing to write home about. I’ve had much better in Vancouver with less pretension.
Delicious food, great service. Distancing measures in place and we felt fairly comfortable being there, our first restaurant visit in months!
Wow, what a feast at Forage our friend treated us to earlier this week when visiting Vancouver! The Dine Out menu is such a steal for a delicious prix fixe meal. You can opt for wine pairings, and bar manager & sommelier Peter will not disappoint with the amazing selection of British Columbia wines available in the restaurant. Not many are pictured here, because I focused on the food for photography, but the combination created such an excellent evening of celebration of great local food, beverage, and friendships. That duck pastrami! The duck, prawn, and crab chowder! The sticky toffee pudding!
Came here for an early Valentines dinner February 13th for dine out with our son and girlfriend(same household). We got there a bit before our dinner resos at 6 pm and were able to get Happy Hour pricing for dz fresh oysters($1.50 per) and $6 wine. We should have ordered 2 dz, so fresh and great condiments for the oysters...freshly grated horseradish, salsa verde, and another lovely sauce. The 4 course tasting menu was incredible. We had duck chowder, butternut squash soup, duck pate, tuna tataki, pork tenderloin, sablefish and bison steak, all superbly prepared and presented.. The best apple crisp and chocolate cake finished our dinner. Sebastian, our server was attentive and friendly without being obtrusive. When I ordered a boozy coffee with my dessert and jokingly complained that the one I I had at 21 Steps was rimmed with crushed salted caramel,.Sebastian came back w a warmed up coffee mug with lemon juiced rimmed sugar, extra whipped cream, and simple syrup on the side for me to pour my drink into. A nice and unexpected gesture as forage doesn’t have specialty coffees on their menu...perhaps they should!! I may even go back for another dine out and bring a coffee glass mug for my coffee...
I can't review the food as no one came to take my order. I can't review the service, as no one asked if I wanted to order a drink (I was seated at the bar). I wasn't given a menu when I was seated, but I found one on the bar and after looking at it for 5 minutes, I couldn't see many options that suited. I'm vegetarian, so I assumed "Forage" might be right up my alley, but with nobody approaching me for an order I figured I should head across the road to Miko, where I knew I would have plenty of choice. Which is what I did.
Food is delicious. The menu changes very frequently and always features locally sourced ingredients. Excellent local beers and wines.
Very mediocre. Nothing special at all.
A casual yet elegant West Coast flavours restaurant amidst the otherwise bland and homogeneous strip that is the mid-Robson strip. The menu is full of things you want to try. The oysters are delicious. The halibut also stands out and has the right blend of texture and flavour. Watch out for the smoked potatoes; the smoke is a bit overpowering. Overall highly recommended especially if you frequent the area.
Nice dinner for two. Locally sourced food, unrushed service, decent taplist.
This place is bmveru crowded. We didn't have a reservation so we waited for 2 seats at the bar. The brunch was mediocre. I was expecting a lot more from the reviews of this place. I have had much better Bennys, the sauce was subpar. The bison mash was too salty for my liking. We heard a table complained about it but thought maybe its only them... But it was definitely way too salty. Will not be going back again.
food is ok but not stunning.Pretty pricy for what you get. Nice interior and good service.
Different menus for brunch/lunch and dinner. Went for dinner with my aunt and we ordered 7 mains and 2 desserts! Everything was delicious but my favorite was the Grand Fir Gnocchi and Foraged Mushrooms both from the “soil” category. Cheese puff with blueberries for dessert was delightful. Low light ambience is perfect for dates or small groups; though I hope they had a room for bigger groups because the one seated next to us was really loud and we had a difficult time hearing each other in our table. Other than that, it was a great experience! Would recommend 100%!
I went to this place on a Sunday morning for brunch without reservation. The place was just packed, what means it has good food. So I didn't mind the waiting time of 20 min. But I didn't like that they took groups with two people before me, even that they were behind me in the waiting list. I was alone and when a group of two left they took the others before. Anyhow, when I got my space on the bar I got right away my water and a menu. I had a coffee, apple juice and the halibut eggs Benedict. The Eggs Benedict might be the best I had so far in Vancouver. Only thing this place needs to the rush hours is more staff, I felt bad for the waitress/barkeeper. But even that it was very very busy she was still very nice and friendly. I will come back and 100% recommendation.
It's a good place. Not bad at all, but neither is it fantastic. My friends seem to love it though, as they often ask to dine there. We have had brunch and dinners here before.
If you are want a fine dining experience with unique menue this is the place. I love the vibe and foods. It is a high end restaurant and it is worth it. I ordered the grilled Sable Fish with octopus, grilled cauliflower and, pan Bread with spicy honey sauce and all of the taste unique and amazing. People are friendly and fun to talk with. I very much enjoyed the night and highly recommend this place.
Overprice for the small dishes they bring. Quality is good though. Service was not great at all and pushing for you to order more, to the point it will be uncomfortable and inappropriate.
Dine Out Vancouver @foragevancouver last year. According to my terrible memory, we had duck and salmon for appetizers, black cod and steak for mains, and I honestly can't tell what the desserts are. Everything was solid, and they were fully booked with a right limited seating time. It honestly felt a bit rushed. I love how they source locally. Given the increased prices for the festival, the portions definitely could have been a lot more filling. My dad ended up getting Church's chicken on the way home! Follow me @vinaeatsandtreats on Instagram for more honest restaurant and baking recipe reviews!
Lovely farm to table meal and staff. Grab dinner here if you're visiting Vancouver. I would go again!
A little too fancy and expensive for breakfast in my opinion. Go for special occasions as they do have awesome food!
Superb tasty food with thoughtful attentive service. Their cocktails will make you stay even longer.
I actually went to this restaurant few months ago and found out that it was a great. From outside it may not look that great but the inside environment is pretty great. You will definitely liek the music that they play. Cheers
Amazing food. Wonderful staff... I couldn't be more impressed by this unique experience!!
A very nice room in a great location on Robson Street. Food is locally sourced including the beer, wine and alcohol which is a very nice touch. A nice experience and decent service. Found the food was nicely prepared and tasty. Portions were average size (not small), although the bison was a good size (as it should be for $43). Would say that it's a restaurant for adventurous diners. You won't find grilled salmon or strip loin on the menu, but you will find duck, bison, kale, liver and tartare. Not everyone's taste but if it is for you, it is well done.
Awesome service, and really delicious and creative dishes made with local ingredients. Will be back soon I hope!
Meal type
SO GOOD. Have been to so many restaurants in Vancouver and this is a new favourite. Sebastien picked our menu (we asked him to pick us share plates) and he knocked it out of the park. One of the best dining experiences in years.
Great service and an amazing menu, the duck ragout was delicious. You have to try their scones with honey butter!
Excellent, non pretentious service. Choice ingrediants. Visually, when our entrées arrived the Chef's accute attention to detail was evident. The warm macadamian white chocolate scones with honey butter were sinful.
Great friendly staff. Food was delectable. We had the bison hash with eggs. Just a tinge too much salt but it was corned bison so that explains that. Great atmosphere, definitely recommend.
Review | Casual Dining (1~5) #Atmosphere: Server Professionalism 5 | Interior Design 5 | Menu Design 4 | Hygiene 5 #Food: Serve Speed 5 | Food Quality 5 | Taste 5 #Price Overall: $$$$
Decent alternative to chain restaurants, which its still a slightly higher tier. Prices high like typical Vancouver and bill racks up high quick. quality is decent but nothing spectacular
The food was tasty; unfortunately the portions of mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables were very small and definitely didn't serve 4. Also surprised the courses were served family style, should have been plated. More effort into the ambience, candle or special Christmas decoration would be nice. Quite expensive for what was provided.
Had the benny. Had no vegetables, the muffin wasn't toasted and the hollandaise tasted like it was made from the boxed powder mix. The potatoes were overdone and oversalted. The portions are the size of a small plates. The fresh pressed orange juice was the only thing I enjoyed. Just order without the ice so it's not watered down.
Went for dine out festival. Duck leg over cooked n not much taste. seafood chowder was nice n dessert cheese puff ok. overall is 2 Star. Bread was not even served n need to be asked n 6 pieces of cold bread was $5 WITHOUT providing butter.
On new years eve, my best friend and I who haven't seen each other in months, decided to reserve a table at forage for a catch up brunch. We knew were we going to be late and so called ahead of time to notify them we are on our way. We arrived and as you know parking in downtown is a nightmare, let alone on new years eve. We got into the restaurant and the lady at reception told us she gave our table away. They didn't call or notify us in anyway. We asked why we were not contacted before giving up our table, she said cause they are busy. THAT IS NOT AN EXCUSE. What has customer service come down to these days?! We had the decency to tell you we were running late but you don't reciprocate. Turns out she is the assistant manager, Anna Eroujenets. To the owner, if you by any chance you read this, we walked out and will never return and will share our experience with all friends and family. Happy New Year, hope you get better staff!
I’m giving two stars for the great atmosphere and service. I’m subtracting three because of the food. I dined with 7 other people and we were served around 8-10 dishes and 4 desserts. Out of all of the dishes, there’s only one that I would order again (assuming I would come back), the gnocchi. It’s very interesting when a table full of men don’t even finish a small portion of duck or salmon! There was a general consensus between all of us that the food was far less than ideal. I’m honestly surprised by all of the positive food reviews. I noticed a lot of them were from breakfast, so maybe we should’ve gone then instead of dinner?
Great place for brunch Food was great, Portions size was decent.
We were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation here our last night in Vancouver after we saw a rave review. FLAWLESS! The wine, food, atmosphere and service were nothing short of phenomenal! Fresh, local ingredients created the best family style meal we've had in ages! Our server was super engaging, made excellent suggestions and made dinner that much better. Thumbs up all around - a MUST if you are in Vancouver!
I think this review relies heavily on the fact it was during dine out Vancouver. Had it not been, I can say with certainty that this review would have been a four or five star review. The server was lovely, however the busboys seemed lost and angry. The food you could tell should have been good, however was room temperature and either fried this morning or straight from frozen to oven. I would go back but for brunch and definitely never again for dine out.
JUST GO HERE. Don’t debate. Frankly just move in. The staff is fabulous - from being super helpful on the phone for parking, to being lovely upon entrance, to perfect throughout the entire dining experience. And then the food was WILD. The chowder was delicious, the cheese board was out of this actual world, and the oysters at happy hour ($1.50 per) we would have happily paid $4 for. Honestly can’t say enough good things. We will for sure be back.
Best eggs bennies I've ever had, also with the most fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. So good I brought I friend there for a business meeting and his taste buds were very happy which made it easier to converse.
Our server Ryan was great. Everyone had great knowledge of the food and was helpful. The food was great. We wish we had more to eat but we understand that its a Dine out menu and more like a tasting. Everything was delicious.
Love this place! I popped in for a drink last night (Friday) as I had a late dinner reservation at Blue Water Cafe. I sat at the bar and had a glass of very nice sparkling wine; there was a lovely atmosphere and I could've stayed longer. Just went back this morning for breakfast and the granola was amazing!! Coffee was nice though my flat white was more of a latte.
Knife is way too dirty with food scraps on it. The waiter didn’t ask if the food tasted good nor refilled my coffee. I live 3 mins away but won’t visit anymore.
Excellent local wine and food. Everything was fresh, cooled perfectly and inspired. Very knowledgeable staff and very helpful.
Quite pricey, all Canadian shtick. Food was very small portion, even though delicious, not worth the price. Staff was friendly
It's okay but has really gone downhill. Breakfast Omlette no salt, sausages quite dry, coffee not very good.
One of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver!! Great selection of wine, fresh food and good service. We order bison ,duck, coffee with desert and Cab Franc.Everything was done to perfection . Without doubt will come here to try more food.
One of the best meals we've had in a long time. Wait staff was friendly and great. We will definitely be back.
Former Timber. Nothing left... Needs ICU...sad Apparently there is a Chinese restaurant business/etc taking over, so there is a good reason why they want to kill a long time lasting good western cuisine business going on... Phatetic... These British type of pubs disappearing from West End and downtown area as I would strongly say , Yes... none left . I have been a resident here 20 years, everything is going down, so my advise, if you like to visit a Real genuinely Pub, there are none left in downtown Vancouver/ West End Look somewhere else, maybe Langley or Abbotsford.... If you want Chinese,Korean, Japanese and other Asian food, than there is where you should be....might taste goody for some.
I had the eggs benedict with regular bacon. This was by far the best breakfast I have ever had. I loved everything about it.
The breakfast was so good we went back three times
Delicious locally sourced, sustainable food. They have a nice variety of simple styles, fusion and comfort food. Service was impeccable, the manager Matthew was very helpful and welcoming. Definitely try the cheese and ice cream dessert.
Very well executed dishes meant for sharing. Interesting and unexpected flavor combinations for locally sourced products in a fun but intimate atmosphere. Very memorable meal.
Loved the bison steak! It’s a must try if you haven’t tried bison meat before. It was my first time eating it and all I wanted was to make an additional order of the steak but it was a bit expensive. The slices were a bit ehh, but the taste is excellent!! (I’ll give the mash potato a 5 star!)
Yummy food, great service, cozy atmosphere. You would need to make a reservation for weekend brunches, as usually it has a line up.
Amazing biscuits and a lovely location, menu changes every so often to give some nice veriaty, the turkey hash is my personal favorite, it's inexpensive and has an amazing taste to it. The coffee is good as well. Homemade jams and toast are to die for
We knew the food here was great when we came here early for brunch and there was already a lineup (and a 40-minute wait). We tried the bison and halibut cheeks, and both were very filling. They were worth the wait as the service was fast (and friendly, too).
Wow! The food is amazing. Everything is cooked perfectly with an explosion of flavors! All products come from local producers and the staff is kind. A must if you visit Vancouver. Make sure you make a reservation few days in advance.
I liked everything about this place! Food, service and price are good ????????
Nice alternative to the diner brunch we would normally go to on a weekend if we were in Kits or False Creek. Great for groups and good service.
Great place for brunch/breakfast????
This was the best dining experience I have ever had. I have been to most of the big names in Vancouver, Le Crocodile etc. But this place blows them out of the water. The family style portions allow you to get a taste of many of the options even with a party of 2. The server we had was also fantastic, I think his name was Brent, just tremendously knowledgeable and pleasant. Please check this place out you will not be disappointed.
Came for dineout. Probably better during regular dining times. My steak came out cold unfortunately.
Just awesome. We go there for brunch and dinner. The food is always on point and the mix of flavors is always incredible.
This is one of the worst meals I've had at a restaurant. My husband and I went for the Best of BC tasting menu and were so excited based on the rave reviews this restaurant gets on google. It was the last night of our honeymoon so we were looking forward to some good, local food. It was awful!! I typically don't write bad reviews but I feel like I should warn people since it's not a cheap restaurant. The chowder was gummy and inedible. I scooped through it and could only see one small piece of duck and there was no trace of crab. My husband ate mine because he hates wasting food but I couldn't stomach it and I love food. We then waited for a LONG time for the second course, which is crazy because it is raw fish so shouldn't take long to prepare. There were also only about 9 parties in the whole restaurant so I'm not sure what took so long. Finally the tuna crudo arrived and it was the saving grace of the meal and the reason this has two stars. It was quite good. After we had about 2 bites of our tuna crudo our server arrived with our main courses and said "I don't know why this is coming now, do you want it?". Since they were warm dishes we asked if we could have them brought out after we were done eating the second course so he took them back - a big part of the tasting menu is the progression so I found this odd? Once we finished the second course he returned with the third course and they had obviously just been left under a warmer. I had the pork and it was 5 small slices of dry, tough meat. It was horrible. I also had to ask for cutlery since I had none. Throughout the meal we had to keep asking for water refills. The service just wasn't there. I have never in my life sent a dish back and I had to send it back. The waiter took one look at it and he said "oh ya that doesn't look good". He was really nice about it but I'm not sure why he served it if he could tell that? Anyway he brought out a new plate for me after my husband was done eating his main course (I told him to start so it wouldn't get cold). My husband got the bison and the meat was very good but his vegetables were the same as mine - not well cooked, mushy and greasy. The meat the waiter brought out for me was marginally better but it felt like something I would get at a fast food restaurant for a fraction of the price. There was nothing elevated or good about it. Finally dessert came. The menu was different than it was online and both desserts were chocolate with some sort of caramel, which was too bad. It's nice to have some different flavour options. Again, I had to ask for cutlery to be able to eat. It seems like it should be common practice to bring fresh cutlery with each course of a tasting menu? I will say - I think our waiter felt bad and he brought us a little sample of a red to pair with the dessert which was quite nice.I think he's a nice guy, they just don't have good service practices. All in all I really don't understand how this restaurant has the ratings it does. I wonder if people go here and just think it's good because it's a bit more expensive? From the lackadaisical service to the terrible food it's not even mediocre. Spend your money somewhere else. Update: Emailed the restaurant as per the owner's response 13 days ago and still have not had a reply. Confirms the experience that we had.
Been here for brunch twice now because of how hyped it is. First time was unremarkable so gave it another chance today which was a disaster. Restaurant was very warm. Ordered scones to start. Was supposed to be two different types of which we only wanted the one type which we told our waitress. She brings two of the other type as they were sold out of the one we wanted but she never told us before bringing them out. Both of our mains were average at best with large components of the meal completely tasteless. Had to wait 22 minutes for the bill after specifically asking for it on a day where the place really wasn't that busy. Plenty of tastier options than this.
Best brunch ever! I had the eggs with brie, duck confit and roasted garlic and it was just delicious. A choice of accompanying bread meant that I could also have a fruit scone which felt like having dessert too. The scone was beautifully light and airy, one of the best I've ever had. I also loved the raspberry jam. The server was oddly nervous but very attentive. Only suggestion for improvement would be to have a coat storage area.
Two stars because the food was amazing, but the service was pretty bad. We made a reservation for 7.30pm but when we reached, we were asked to wait outside for 10 minutes when there were two empty tables by the window. Subsequently, the server wasn’t helpful at all when we asked about the dishes, responding with “everything is good” when we asked what he would recommend. ????
The french waiter was friendly and answered our questions kindly. His recommendations were on point! Food here never disappoints. Quality over quantity kind of place, so I guess it's up to you what you value spending your money on. The panna cotta with mushrooms was amazing though, easily one of the best dishes I've ever eaten anywhere.
When I come to Forage for breakfast or brunch, I always get the the blueberry pancakes with a side of crispy bacon. The other breakfast options look great as well, but these pancakes are just amazing. Reservations are recommended at all times. Try to avoid the bar, as they always appear to be understaffed in that area. Overall, the service could be vastly improved. Regardless if it's for breakfast/brunch or dinner, service is slow and inconsistent, leaving a less than stellar after taste to an otherwise good meal.
Great place for brunch. Had double-fried pork cutlet sandwich. It was a bit dry because of the pork chop and the break, but still delicious. Seafood chowder is award-winning (literally) with quill egg and pork grind. The ingredients are fancy, such as liver and kale. They serve with local and sustainable ingredients. ---- 2016-10: The corned bison hash has a generous portion. First time trying bison, it's good with a gamey taste. The dish comes with a lot of meat. Definitely a heavy brunch choice. The juniper duck confit is also heavy with meat. The duck is tender. Though I wish there's more sauce and flavor to the overall dish. It's a bit bland.
Excellent selection. Best clam chowder I had.
We were not a big fan of most of the food at Forage (with one notable exception), nor did we seem to receive good service. A ppetizers came quickly, which was helpful, but there was a full 20 minutes in between our appetizers and the main course, which had been ordered at the same time. This was a stressful 20 minutes, because I had been told on three separate occasions that we only had two hours to eat our food. When the food finally came, it was cold, which meant that we weren't waiting for someone to cook our food - we were waiting for someone to bring our food. We had told our server at the outset of the meal that we wanted the bill split into two separate cheques - four people on one, and two on another. However, at the end, our server brought us one bill and promptly disappeared again for another 10 minutes. When the bill was finally split, I noticed a mistake was made, but did not say anything because we were already past our 2-hour limit. Many of the dishes seemed to have an odd smoky flavour. In particular, our kale salad tasted like it had artificial smoke added to it. Perhaps this was from the grilling of the kale, but we found it off-putting. The duck was the only thing about the meal that was outstanding. That particular dish came after the others, and it was hot and amazing. The second star is for the duck. We're not going back, nor would we suggest it to others. We've been to a few upscale restaurants in Vancouver, and most of them were actually quite unassuming. The feeling we got from Forage was the opposite - they assumed they were better than they really were, and we felt treated as such.
The best West coast style restaurant in town. Everything is served family style to share and there is an excellent and regularly changing menu full of local ingredients. Was there last weekend and had a spectacular Bison Board. The charcuterie and seared tongue are not to be missed!
Forage serves innovative food that is delicious. Even the unadventurous should give this restaurant a go. There were 4 of us and we shared a range of dishes, the charcuterie board which had the most wonderful pate I have ever tasted, grilled gem lettuce which had a lovely barbeque flavour, mushrooms, salmon and bbq carrots. Every small dish was tastey. In my 4 weeks in Canada I had a remarkable range of meals and this was in top 3. Service was also very good.
Fantastic restaurant. High quality food without being pretentious! Fresh ingredients and unique flavours. The staff also deserve praise. Warm and friendly, can engage in a meaningful conversation! I had a lovely time and meal. I highly recommend this restaurant.
The bison steak was certainly the highlight of the meal!!
Taste wise - refined and exquisite. The ingredients taste fresh and whoever thought of these dishes really know how to put flavors together. My only complaint is that even though all the dishes were made to be shared, they're quite small. They're more like a normal entree enough for a adult male.
Given all the hype and long queue at the entrance the food here failed to impress me. Duck confit frittata lacked anything taste. We also tried eggs with bacon and it was just ok (okay, bacon was good!). The place though has a great brunch ambiance, smiling and helpful bar men and my Cesar cocktail was amazing!
Good food horrible service. My girlfriend and I had a dinner at forage during dine out. Our server was professional, however the waiter who brought our food to us wasn’t. He threw the plates onto our table twice! I then talked to one of the servers who I thought was the manager but turned out not to be. I talked to him about the incidents, but his first reaction was not to apologize. Instead he asked me to point out the waiter who served us, then he left without addressing the issues nor apologizing. Even until the end he never came back to talk to us. We both felt we were being mistreated and very unsatisfied with the experience. Never going back again.
A beautiful restaurant with a fantastic cocktail menu and delicious food. They are happy to make accommodations for a vegan diet. A+
Great service at the bar!!! Great recommendation. Food is good but too oily.
The family style served dinner is really amazing! Fresh and very well balanced ingredients. I LOVE every dish that was served. Brunch is yummy too!
Service
Went a few months ago and have been meaning to review how great they were! (Sorry it took so long!) Amazing eats, knowledgable staff, nice ambiance and right on the main Street which is nice. Can't wait to go back when it's safe to do so.
Food was mixed with some interesting dishes and others that were over done. Service was friendly but not very efficient - had trouble getting water glasses filled. Noise level was very high.
No reservation was required to get in. Ordered the turkey sausage and two poached eggs. The food was nicely cooked and well garnished. Had to add more salt to get the flavour out. Needless to say all the ingredients were organic and local. I guess that justifies the price.
Went hear for NYE. Food and drinks were delicious. Lovely service. Would happily return!
Forage is always on top 5 of my favorite brunch place to go, especially their patè. It is thr only place I will eat the patè.
OMG. Local ingredients done in amazing ways, makes for amazing food. This small venue has lots to offer. Great drinks (Old fashion is delicious). Loved that we were not rushed through the meal. Highly recommend that you make reservations.
This restaurant is actually located adjacent to the Listel hotel which I rate five star. The restaurant also deserves a 5-star rating. The food is all locally sourced, brilliantly and creatively prepared, and reasonably priced considering the high quality and service that you receive. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Best steak ive had in a while! Love the support of local industry.
Went in for a brunch on a Saturday Morning, food was okay tasting, service was great however.
Meal type
Amazing. Enjoyed the unique menu and great cocktail offerings. Definitely will hit this spot up again.
Amazing ambiemce and service. Benny and duck confit were amazing. Perfect place to go on a date. Would say one of the best on Robson for good food????
I have been back every year a few times for many years. It used to be one of my favourite restaurants but I feel the portions are getting smaller and the prices higher. Last two times felt a bit disappointed compared to how much I initially loved it. I don't think I'll be coming back for dinner. The breakfast is great though. The roast potatoes could be better though.
Delicious! Note that they recommend family style sharing and the food presentation supports it. Probably closer to $$$.
The place is cozy but not overly decorated. Service from our waiter was excellent and attentive. The food we ordered were really good. We had a good experience nod the higher prices of the dishes were definitely worth it.
Great place to be with your family, the food is tasty and service is super fast. Hot and delicious food served in minutes.
Beautiful restaurant, with a nice selection of brunch options. I often have trouble at brunch because I can’t have any eggs, but this place has an excellent warm kale salad that surprisingly flavorful, sweet, and left me feeling very satisfied! The only downside I would say is that the restaurant gets very noisy, but otherwise a lovely experience. Often you can just walk right in, but if you’re going on the weekend you can save yourself the walk in and wait by making a quick reservation.
Fantastic!!! The smoked duck chowder and the bison are… well amazing!!! Fantastic service, fantastic food. What else is there? :)
The concept of this restaurant is very cool with all local ingredients, including the drinks. The food was fantastic and the service (on our latest visit, Sebastian) was also excellent. Would highly recommend.
Lunch
Went here for date with my wife and she had the bison and I had the scallops/pork belly. Mine was wonderful, hers was good but not great. We had a dozen oysters. They were ok. No ice which I prefer to keep them chilled so they were room temperature eating them. The sommelier was the highlight of our night. He was great. Decanted and poured our wine and was very attentive and timely with our meal and when our glasses got low. Sadly our food took much too long to come after our appetizer. Another couple who ordered after us got their meals 20 min+ before us.
Great food, great hosts, and were so welcoming to our 13 month old. We really enjoyed our breakfast!
The server told us that he forgot to punch in our order almost an hour after we placed our order. He came back to apologize and admitted that it's his fault. He promised to take care of our Mimosas. At this point we were fine and understood that it was probably his first day. However when we asked for the bill, it came back in full and the manager started yelling at us telling us that we were bullies, rude and were not patient enough! He also had the audacity to say that it's our fault not the server! Although later he came back to apologize for his behaviour and took care of our bill, we paid the full amount as a tip for the server. I don't think we will come back after this treatment and neither should you. The manager, Matthew Presidente, is delusional and thinks he is always right. The food was okay to be honest, there are better brunch places that are worth your money and time and will leave you full and satisfied.
Service was hot and cold. The host was great and the owner was great. Our server was not so great. He thought it better to sit in the corner of their outside seating area and have a drink with guests instead of help us and others waiting for service on a Friday night. Food was great, as was their cocktail menu. Pricey and small portions, but that's downtown YVR.
Mushroom and goat cheese omelet was less than average. Watery, very little goat cheese. Disappointing. Cool environment. Service was good. Will not go back for breakfast.
In the past week I went to forage four times. I keep going for their cheese puff dessert. I had a dream about it. Yes and dreams can come true! The beautiful restaurant on the iconic Robson street is always a great place to bring anyone when enjoying the many beautiful sides of Vancouver. The local farm to table concept is always amazing. The staff is always professional and great to talk with. I have never been disappointed with this place and I hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy this restaurant more than once in their life time.
Great dinner on a Friday night. Very contemporary and modern. This one of the best restaurants in the city and has been going strong for the past few years. Knowledgeable service, superb food, and excellent pacing/timing. If you want one of the best in Vancouver, it’s worth a trip. Management was also phenomenal and ensured our experience was top notch.
Family friendly and great for sharing. Enjoyed the drinks!
Amazing. Always amazing. The food - amazing. The service - amazing. The crowd - chill and cool. Just go. Makena reservation and you'll be so happy you went.
A pretentious hotel restaurant. My wife and I made a reservation for Saturday night and were served reasonable food, but nothing beyond that by any standard. 60 minutes after being seatted, the waiter seemed to wrap up our meal. We reminded him that we may want to order a desert and drink, which we ordered (by far the best part of the dinner). With it, he brought the bill (without being asked) and we paid. Immediately following that, while we were still eating he asked us to hurry up since they needed to accommodate a large group. We answered that we are still eating and drinking...3 minutes later the manager arrived and and repeated the request to hurry up...(reminder - 75 minutes after we arrived on time with a reservation!) Extremely rude and unprofessional service.
Had the corned bison hash for belated mother's day brunch with the family. It was absolutely delicious but the 5 other people with me weren't as impressed. (Double fried porkcutlet sandwich, pancakes, french toast, halibut cheek Benedict, seafood chowder, side sausages, regular eggs/potato order). We shared a few bites between us and and it was agreed that the seafood items had an unfresh/very fishy taste, while the sausages we're dry and super over seasoned. 4 stars frome though cause the service was good + I liked what I got. It's a pretty noisey place though (Chinese dim sum level noise) and everything else was so/so.
Love it best brunch in town Matthew presidente and the rest of the staff are so amazing and accommodating whenever I bring my family in
Really tasty food! We had the green salad, the pan bread, and the steak. Our server was really friendly. The salad seemed too dry (and we don't like goopy dressings but it almost seemed not dressed at all) and there was about a 30 min wait between the second and third (main) plates being served. Other than that, I like the concept. The TVs on the walls show photos of what we assume are the local products/farms. Framed photos on the walls in a minimalist fashion may be a better choice to match the upscale ambience. The restaurant was busy and almost seemed like a "normal" pre-covid evening out with the exception of the plexi glass barriers! Oh, they didn't actually scan the vaccine passports for those who are concerned about that.
Farm to table restaurant! Pricey but worth every penny! Book in advance if you want to taste the daily menu
This place is amazing, we got excellent service. The we all loved our food. I had the duck and it was cooked to perfection and the flavors were so good!! The bison was also all perfect. I fully recommend this place.
Our experience was truly under our expectations. Our waiter seems to not want to engage our explain the menu or wines with us. The carpacio and the duck breast where underwhelming at best. For instance, the 2 slices of duck breast received were way overcooked. Any cook with a bit of pride would have never sent that up... If you want to have a good time, please consider spending your money somewhere else. It's a shame, we were so excited to try it out.
Amazing thoughtfully prepared food. Venue was beautiful, service was nice as well. Back to the food, oh the food, it is amazing. Once your done with the delicious grub hit the deserts; they’re magic on their own.
Love the food here. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast. I loved all the flavours and tastes.
My wife and I decided to try Forage for breakfast after we read the New York Times 36 Hours in Vancouver recommendation. It's a nice open space. There are a few different things on the breakfast menu. I had the pork cutlet sandwich--definitely a different breakfast item which I loved. Fabulous presentation of everything that we saw on our table and around us.
DineOut Vancouver 2019 thoughts: 1. salmon tataki 2. bison butcher’s cut steak 3. hazelnut mocha bar not worth $45. Still delicious though small portions.
Great service and terrific food. Eggs Benny and Pancakes were on point. Price was a bit high but still worth it for the upscale ambience and vibes.
Love the concept of local first. Rarely get the same thing twice as the menu changes and there are good options for a vegetarian.
Great as always. The good is delicious and the coffee is lovely and smooth. Breakfast and brunch is always well done.
Pretty good for brunch and dinner so far. A bit on the pricier side but the food is super tasty.
Food is not only well plated, but tastes pretty damn good. I recommend the bison dish and the asparagus dish.
Used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver. I went back for the first time after the pandemic and I was quite disappointed. The bison and the duck chowder were great, as usual. The halibut lacked any sort of personality and the chocolate puff was also quite underwhelming. They used to have the same puff dessert with elderflower instead of chocolate and I guess they just couldn't come up with something new? The service could also be improved. One of the waitresses was borderline rude (spilled some of the chowder and was like "oh well, bad luck I spilled it" and carelessly threw the plates on our table) and the sommelier didn't even bother to ask who was going to taste the wine -- if there is a man sitting at the table I guess he's the taster, right?! Overall, not worth the $200 bill. Very sad as I used to love this place.
Awesome. Breakfast was awesome. Expect city prices, but for just a little bit more $ but not much more...... was worth it. Make reservations this place would fill up quick. Omelet. Jams. Pancakes. Benny. Awesomely fresh and not bitter old coffee. Wait staff polite and happy. Will come back here if in town.
Lovely Christmas lunch. Food was top notch. Service same.
I was been timber around 3:00 PM Oct.23rd I orderd beer and chicken wing. Beer is ok but 7 pcs of chicken wing is served not proper cooking... beside born broody. So, I call waitress and show her about not cooking well she explain it is normal...lol... Even if you order again it is same bloody because they cooking only onetime on the grill. I think it is very aweful. How come rare chicken serve to custormer? I recommand DO NOT GO TIMBER. I feel very bad at that time
Everything we had here was amazing! We had an early reservation before it got too busy and service was awesome and friendly. Prices felt moderately inexpensive for the quality of food we got. We loved the wine flights, bison steak, and gnocchi.
Very unique dining experience in Vancouver, as Forage is one of the few really nice share plate restaurants in the City. The service was some of the best I have experienced, and every dish we tried was spectacular. Could not have improved this experience and highly recommend.
We are huge foodies and eat out all over the world; this is THE BEST RESTAURANT WE HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. Our mind was blown on every dish. Every bite is a whole new experience. It's insane. Made out first trip to Vancouver even more unforgettable. And, lots of cute waiters ;)
Great tasting food, good atmosphere and telhey had an interesting menu for dine out.
Tasty breakfast. I had the turkey sausage hash with sourdough (they make their own bread!) and sencha green tea.
Amazing quality, wish I had known it was designed as a share plate restaurant. We are alot but regret nothing. Beef jerky and kale salad were standouts.
Came for dinner with high hopes after numerous well-received reviews. Environment was modern and comfortable. Service was great and staff were polite and helpful. Dishes were unique and delicious (the clam chowder is the best we've had), albeit small portions for the price.
Pacific Northwest dining at its best. Modern space with a many kinds of seating arrangements, whether it be up along the bar for a view of the baristas or along the back benches behind a partial wall for larger parties, or along the walls for small tables for parties of two. Had the brunch turkey hash and it was fresh, hot, and very tasty. Would return again to try more from the menu.
The plating is gorgeous, the food is delicious and our server (Ryan I believe) was very knowledgeable and helpful. The only down side was our table (2 people) was very close to the others.
I tried Dine Out here last night and it was nothing to phone home about. The prawn and seafood (by seafood they mean chunks of salmon) chowder was bland and Luke warm served on a cold cast iron dish. The duck and leek presse tasted like a fancy spam. As for the salmon main, Cactus Club can do better. Cheese puff was too crunchy to enjoy sitting in a bath of too sweet ginger sauce. Adequate and friendly service though
Enjoyed the food and service and wine. It's just across the street from me, so love to come here rain and shine
Delicious brunch with a friendly server. The eggs Benedict were yummy, and they actually made a pretty good flat white for Canadian standards. The place is also very stylish and simple.
Had a decent wait time to get our food but the food itself was delicious. It was a busy time (Sunday brunch) but 45 minutes is a tad long imo. Looking forward to coming back again next time.
Unique dining. It's shared plate which is how my wife and I eat generally. Great flavours. Thought the bison was the best!
Great place that aims higher than most. EDIT: no more hair of the dog special, but it was too good to be true. Great selection of craft beer. Place recycles everything and doesn't create any garbage (same as the hotel).
Came highly recommended by the hotel concierge, but I thought the food was just so so. Wish I had liked it more because it seems like a cool place.
The food here is amazing, will definitely be coming back soon
Great food and service. We went with our five year old. They made us all feel comfortable and happy. The food here is outstanding-flaverfull and we'll cooked. I would order everything on the menu. We went here for breakfast and dinner. We loved everything.
Fantastic food and great service. Even my 10yo loved the dining experience and flavors.
Meal type
Amazing food and great servers. I want to say our servers name was Josh, but I am not certain, and he was fabulous! Did great wine pairings for me. Casual atmosphere and wholesome eats, great portions. Left feeling satisfied & not done over. Will return! Thank you all at Forage.
I keep coming here and bringing my friends. The brunch is sensational and the dinner menu is everything you dreamed about. Delicious, hand crafted food.
Great atmosphere and friendly knowledgeable staff. We had a quiet dinner at the back patio. Shared plates. Perfect for the summer get together.
Dinner
Local delicious and sustainable food. Service is amazing and always friendly. Cocktails are on point. Seems to be family owned or closely held as they take their quality standards very seriously. Could not recommend higher. ????????
Have been for dinner, brunch and drinks at the bar. Highly recommend for any occasion (or non). For has always been amazing. Service fairly consistent. Was recommended to try the pancakes by a friend. They did not disappoint. Farm to table and locally sourced concept and you can tell in their food.
Wow ! Awesome restaurant for local food from BC ! Nice environment, nice atmosphere, helpful waiters... And the food is excellent ! Bison, duck, potatoes, cheese... everything is perfectly cooked ! Only one note: I would have love the waiter to advise us on which wine to drink depending on our food, rather than just asking which wine we like...
From the moment we entered forage's doors, we were greeted with smiles and a friendly host that took her time not only to say hello but also led us through the menu style as first time visitors. The charcuterie board had a selection that paired quite nicely with the glass of 2015 Blue Mountain Pinot Noir, the lamb neck fettuccine and bison steak were made so perfectly with complementary ingredients that was absolutely worth the higher price tag, and the chocolate hazelnut caramel gâteau was the perfect finish to such an exquisite dinner. Our server never failed to come by and check on us as we moved on from one course to another. Although the place was rather small, the setting was structured to allow free movement all around. Overall we had an amazing experience. Note that during dinner service, longer wait times are to be expected for the charcuterie board as they get hit with a large number of cold orders at this time. They serve family style dishes that can accommodate a party of 2 to 3 but personally speaking if you have a large appetite, you'll likely be able to finish a plate on your own.
Went here for breakfast and had an absolute mind-blowing culinary experience. I will look forward to visiting Vancouver just so I can come back to this restaurant.
Very good, health food and excellent service. We have a very good experience there on last Saturday, Sept 27, 2014.
One of my favourite restaurant in downtown. The restaurant sources their ingredients locally, and it is reflected on their menu. Overall a very rounded menu selection. I do find their appetizer or small plates are better executed than their main courses. Chowder and chicken liver pate are some of their star plates!
Friendly service and great food! The duck chowder was amazing!
I love this place. .everything I've ordered from here us made from scratch. ..including the ketchup, cashew latte omg the best. .and their mushroom omlette..yum..I get cravings for this.
My six year old son and I had reservations for 9am. We rushed there to be on time as we know the place can get really crowded on the weekends, but when we got there there were no tables available. One of the owners (the balding guy) was the host and asked us to give him a few seconds. Ten minutes later we were still waiting on people to finish eating in order to get their table but there were four other empty tables. When I asked the owner to give us one of those tables since we had a reservation and were expecting our table to be ready, he said "well, I am clearing your table. They are paying now. And if you are impatient you can..." and literally showed me the door!!! Absolutely unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that sells overpriced (and overcooked) fried eggs with toast. Naturally, I lost my appetite and I didn't eat but my six year old did. We still paid $26 for a coffee, two fired eggs with toast and a glass of milk. Honestly, go eat at Cora's down the road or up the road where you can enjoy a nice breakfast for $10, coffee included! There are too many options for dining in this area of town for the Forage owners to afford to be rude with the customers. Especially those who took the time to make a reservation. Just my opinion.
I went there for Tanks Giveng Brunch. It was really good. The food is fresh and delicious, and the nice decorations is a plus.
DELICIOUS Food, however I would add more potatoes on the eggs Benedict plate :-)
Adequate, but not wildly impressive. Halibut cakes were bland, and I've had far better shakshouka. There were some nice bits here and there, but not an impressive experience overall.
A really nice restaurant featuring the dishes of Chef Welbert Choi. A bit pricy but worth the cost.
Fabulous spot for a date night, food was absolutely incredible. Tables are a little tight together but we got an adorable corner spot. Great decor, amazing service. Probably the most knowledgeable server I've ever had. @loewenlifestyle
So awesome! Portion sizes were perfect, flavors amazing, great service from Rachel, and an eclectic locally sourced menu.
A great restaurant for small group family style foods sharing. Note that family-style means that dishes are ordered for the table and intended to be shared. A single plate probably feeds two or three people for a single course, as pay odd a two to four course meal. Don't expect a plate to fill you up. That's not the sort of restaurant this is. Thus is an atmospheric, slow-eating place with high quality seasonal food. This said, the food is exceptional, with bright bold flavors and some of the most thoughtful combinations we've encountered. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was relaxing. However it's clear that the target audience is couples or small groups of adults who know each other. The style of dining may not be great for actual families or large groups.
Great wait staff at Forage! Definitely recommend checking out their always changing menu with items from local farms. Coworkers and I checked it out tonight. We were a little nervous about to the local spirits and wine but were not disappointed! The bison is out of this world! Make it a special night and go try out the menu.
Peter the bar manager does an amazing job with picking stellar wines. And the chef, well the week before we ate at June Baby in Seattle where the chef has won two James Beard awards. And we must say, the food at Forage (and the service) was three levels above that!
Everything about this place is beyond wonderful! The service was fast considering how packed it was! Didn't take too long to get a table without a reservation either. The wine was sweet, the food was incredible and the staff was knowledgeable and very friendly. Actually, to say the good was incredible is an understatement! I think I said the words "SO good!" at least two dozen times! Highly recommend this place!
Forage is a great vibe! From the ambience to the food and the professionalism of the staff was what you expect from an upscale restaurant. Matt was an excellent server and Peter's knowledge of local wines was spectacular. Definitely recommend this place for any type of occasion!
Had an amazing experience there. No wonder the place was so busy and there were groups of people waiting to be seated. The staff was professional and amazing, and the quality of the food was outstanding. I had the buttermilk pancake breakfast and these were the best pancakes I've had in Vancouver. I will be coming back God willing. Thank you guys. <3
Delicious locally sourced meals! Service was above expectations: courteous, professional and friendly. Portions were great; pricing was good for the quality of the ingredients provided and the everything was properly cooked. Must try their smoked squash!!! I was amazed and will definitely go back!
The food was just simply amazing, and the staff was friendly. They had a feature which was a Spanish paella for brunch and was to die for, so I will definitely coming back to see what other feature surprises they have in store. The menu itself looks really good for brunch, didn’t bother looking at the dinner menu for now, but if it’s anything like the brunch menu, they have some fairly interesting and tasteful combinations to try out. Just an overall great experience. Thanks guys!
Order their pan bread!
So slow. I believe they forgot our order. Then they said it was ready. Then they said it was the next up. Then I watched many other meals come out before I mentioned we were leaving in two minutes. When we got our food it frankly was not worth the wait. Or the price. The Tim Hortons across the street was looking pretty good.
Lovely breakfast and great service. Substituted bacon on the eggs Benny with tomatoes which was amazing! Definitely recommend and would be back.
Had a birthday meal here recently, first time visiting and what a great experience they gave us! Clay our server was fantastic and gave excellent recommendations, the wine menu is so good too. All the food was excellent quality and the portions were generous for a upmarket place. Can’t wait to go again for the pan fried bread, duck chowder and pork belly 10/10
I was here for Dine Out Vancouver 2019. I enjoyed the sable fish and the dessert (mocha bar) more than the appetizer (salmon tataki). I would say the service was less than mediocre. The server was not as attentive with our table as he was with others. It took a long time to flag him down. I don't think the overall experience was worth $45.00.
Incredible food, atmosphere and night time service. We loved it to much, we went back for brunch later in our trip. Highly recommend the cheese platter, corn bread and the gnocchi!
The service was alright didn't feel like it was outstanding, a little bit uncomfortable or suffocating since it felt like more attention was paid towards tables with more guest. The food came out and wasn't amazed either, the toast was a little burnt as well. Food was ok Service was ok Probably wouldn't visit again if I had the choice.
Dinner
One of the top restaurants to go who source local ingredients. Food is amazing, good service.
Very tasty. Oysters are a bargain if you hit Happy Hour. Worth a try!
I got four dishes (beef capaccio, duck, halibut, and pork belly gnocchi) and all of them other than the beef carpaccio were too salty. The food was ok overall, but the saltiness really ruined it.
Great dinner! We tried the special..bison board, bison served 5 ways, which was great! We ordered that plus soup and salad and it was just right for 3 people. Only preparation I didn't care for was the carpaccio. Would definitely like to try breakfast here next time!
Dine in
I would like to start off by saying that this review is not for our personal waiter nor the host that greeted and seated us. They were pleasant and overall did their jobs. This review is for the overall "Best Of BC" set menu. Awful all around. Where to even begin.. such a disappointing and underwhelming experience. Let's talk about how it was a prepaid reservation that costed $109 between two people, that would've be fine had the portions not been comically small and tasted anywhere from god awful to mediocre. They advertise as a 4 course menu but realistically even if you had combined all 4 items it still would barely be a reasonable sized meal for any adults. The cauliflower soup to start tasted like straight up heavy cream with oil and some peanuts, NO flavor, no aroma, NO SEASONING. The albacore tuna was probably the only good thing we got and it was an extremely small portion garnished with 2 pieces of spring salad I suppose they just took from my partners spring salad that he got ( which btw was absolutely terrible.) The "main course" was merely 3 of the saddest looking pieces of pork I had ever seen. Sloppy and carless plating as well might I had. The texture could've been duplicated using a microwave. Considering the amount we paid for this set dinner I could not believe what we had just been served as a "main". The desserts looked like they came straight out of a supermarket dessert section only plated and decorated by the kitchen after. Please do not waste your time here. Or at the very least DO NOT order the " Best Of BC " menu..... the amount of food is so little it was insulting. I have never left a restaurant feeling like I'm on live camera being pranked. Absolute joke of a menu. It also took ridiculously long in-between each course , which I am truly confused about considering the amount of food that made it to the plate it should have taken less than a second to plate. Overall do not recommend. No wonder they make you pay during reservation and without refund. If anybody had a clue what they were going to be in for they would not reserve or pay a pretty penny.
Amazing food. Wonderful staff and service. Can't recommend it enough.
Fabulous meal and great service. Dispite the full house with Dine Out Vancouver, servicewas unhurried and friendly. Food was exceptional. Some cool and unusual wines on the wine list.
Went there during the dine out, by far one of the worst experience I ever had in Vancouver. Arrived around 5:10, the host at the door was very friendly so I thought we would have a great night, but oh boy the waiter was rude in style. We ordered beef bison rib on the dine out menu which you add 15 extra, I would say is not worth it at all. Also had rack of lamb which I feel is way too salty you are almost feel like eating salt, the best we had would be the chowder soup...the desert was just regular, I would say around Costco’s chocolate cake. Food I would give maybe 2 or 2.5 max, which is sad because one of my friend told me he had a very great experience with the food... Coming back to the service, I would say he is very professional with his job(quick) but with a rude attitude. Every time I asked him a question, he tried to answer with 1-3 words, every time I said thank you to him he ignored you... while my friend still had food in her plate he came and asked us if we want to pack our food... while we are having desert he threw the bill to us. In the end we ordered the food around 5:20 left at 6:10... felt really rushed... I would say it feels like you are allowed to come but not welcome, probably because we are Asian... since he was pretty friendly to the tables on our left&right and we arrived the last and pretty much pushed to be the first table to leave... I am usually pretty optimistic so might give it a try again in the future...
A fantastic culinary experience. With chef Welbert Choi and his fabulous team of forage, farmers, and fishers there is a bounty from soil, land, and sea. Each plate is beautifully presented and is meant to be shared family style. If you are hungry then one dish from each category will more than suffice but it will be hard to choose. The corn bread and carpaccio are definitely winners but on the other end dessert is needed as well so save room. If you can the elder flower cheese puff is amazing and a dish that balances nicely right at the end of a meal. If you prefer a more casual setting even though you will be comfortable in Forage, Timber next door is more of a lounge feel.
A nice contemporary and modern upbeat restaurant that's not too pricy. Great food! Would come again anytime.
My friend called Forage this evening to make a reservation for 9 people. She was notified that each of us would need to pay 60$ plus the auto 18% gratuity ($71) for a set menu due to our groups size. I called back to speak with the manager Matthew and explained that although I really want to come in to Forage I have a difficult time asking my friends 2 of which are currently in college to pay more than what they normally would to attend my celebration... Matthew replied "I don't think we are a good fit for you then" to which I asked if we could make a reservation for 2 smaller tables so we could just order off the menu, Matthew replied "You sound angry right now so I suggest coming here with a smaller group another time". This caught me completely off guard because I was talking in a calm voice politely asking what I think is a reasonable question. To call a customer angry on the phone when they are asking a question is a strange tactic to pull in business. It's unfortunate that this establishment is being run by someone with some of the worst customer service skills I have ever encountered. I as well as my friends and family will be sure to never visit Forage again.
Good spot for a brunch. Food was original and portion were ok. Service was a bit long but worth it.
Small plates meant for sharing, cute restaurant, nice staff, good drinks. Definitely recommend!
Meal type
one of the best farm to table restaurants in town! always surprised with some new delicious meals! friendly and helpful service
Delicious brunch - their homemade preserves are almost as good as Grandma's.
Quantity and quality satisfaction!
Amazing to-go service and food. The restaurant was organized. Got my food within 5 minutes of parking. Well done!
Incredible food! Memorable for sure! Very well plated, good portions, excellent flavours! Superb service. I can't say enough good things about this place! Great caterers as well!

We went to Forage for a friend's birthday party - and WOW. What a treat. If you don't know anything about Forage, its mandate is to provide food that is as local as they can manage. Fraser Valley mushrooms, Kootenay elk, homemade bread, Pacific salmon - everything is sourced from local sustainable food stock, and prepared by a Michelin-trained chef who executed the menu PERFECTLY. On top of a killer wine list and immaculate meals, they might just have the only friendly wait staff that I actually liked talking to. When I go to a restaurant, I don't want to be friends with the overly smiley staff - but the people at Forage are just so cool, so knowledgeable, so genuinely great. Go to this restaurant. I can't recommend it enough.
We went here on a whim the other day and I thought it was pretty good! I'd say you pay a decent amount for what you get, but in fairness this is in the heart of downtown and most things are locally sourced, so I understand the price point. We had a wonderful pasta and I also really enjoyed the halibut. I think this is a good date night location for locals and a good place to showcase BC food for tourists.
Forage was recommended to us by a friend who lives in Vancouver and we were not disappointed. In fact I went twice during my week stay in Vancouver. The food was amazing in this family style restaurant. When ordering you pick dishes to be shared by your table thereby allowing you to try a variety of food. The food was incredible....a farm to table kind of restaurant. Each of the dishes we ordered were delicious. I was in food heaven. The menu changes according to what is fresh in the market. Go....you will thank me!
We ordered roasted pacific halibut and it was extremely salty! Not only the fish was salty, everything else was salty (fiddleheads, arancini, everything). We sent that back and ordered fettucine instead as we were advised the tuna meal and some other meals are also on the salty side. The waitress asked the kitchen NOT to add ANY SALT to our food without our consultation. The pasta was flavourless, so bland! Not eatable at all! We ordered smoked duck breast and it was delicious. Surprisingly we ended up paying for the meal we have not eaten! Will NOT go back again!
Great place for brunch. Try the turkey sausage hash. Even the basic bacon and eggs looked really good due to the quality of the ingredients and the preparation. .
Best Bloody Mary in town, outstanding service and the brunch is unreal! Will most definitely be going back here again, can;t wait!
This is by far a MUST VISIT INSTITUTION while in Vancouver. Based on local food and ingrediants, this restaurant serves different interpretations of dishes, based on the market's produce. Serive is just spectacular, it's been a while since I've been to a restaueant with thag much awarebess to the customers and good communication between the staff. All ingrediants are super fresh and delicious. Every course that got to the table was just amazing. There's no real dedinitiona of what's a starter or a main, you just order and share it on the table. I would state the corn bread and the oysters as the smaller courses, and the bison steak and fettuccine as the mains. Wine selection is just awesome and so does the cocktails. Deserts are absolutely spectacular. A must try is the elderflower and fromage cheese puff which is one of the best dessert I had in my life.
Every time I come here, I am blown away by the food. Great service, unbelievably delicious food. Love everything about this place.
Very nice place and amazing food that comes with fantastic wine! Great atmosphere too. We had this massive platter of bison and it was to die for!
Service
I tried two salads and I would skip them next time. Dressings need to be flavorful but theirs were not. Now for the good, I highly recommend the pan bread because it was unique and delicious. The gnocchi was also delicious. As for dessert I tried the coffee chocolate bar which wasn't great. I was expecting a coffee flavor given the name but it didn't taste like coffee at all. Overall, a cool experience.
Great dinner and experience.
food was alright, service felt rushed - wasn't finished with the appetizers but the server was already waiting with the main dish. cheese puff was a neat dessert, really enjoyed the ginger and vanilla ice cream.
We went there for brunch twice and stayed at the hotel that is located in the same building. The place is usually very crowded on weekends, brunch options are plenty and both sweet (waffles, fruit platters) and salty (eggs, bacon) dishes are made of high quality ingredients (generally locally sourced and organic). Good coffee and tea as well. Service is friendly. Can't go wrong for a lazy, extended weekend brunch.
The Stinging Nettle Risotto was absolutely amazing, and the staff was helpful and fantastic. I plan to go back every time I'm in Vancouver!
We went with a group of 11 and shared the family style menu. The food was exceptional and offered incredible value at the price point. Everyone left stuffed! Great service and wine pairing options as well.
A terrific dining experience! Every dish had a great combination of flavors and was plated elegantly. The wine selection was also extensive. 10/10 reccomend.
One of the best duck legs I've had. Nice crispy outside and tender flavourful inside. And the clam chowder is a must try! I was a bit skeptical about the cheese puff dessert but it was my favourite of the two. Can't wait to come back and try other dishes and Jackson is a great server.
Great breakfast, pleasant dining experience
Amazing DineOut menu with a great ambience and vibe. Sat at the bar and the bartender was amazing. Expo could have romanced the food more and been more detailed about the food.
I'm pretty wary of "upscale dining" places in general in Vancouver for their overpricedness, lack of imagination (just copy what an American chef has already done in portland or Austin), etc but this place honestly hit it out of the park. I actually felt like I had an experience with their food and it had real character to it that I'll remember. If I had died after that dessert mousse ball I wouldn't have minded too much. Good service too. I'm glad covid didn't knock these guys out ????
Fantastic pork chops and chocolate mousse!
love that place, the quality of ingredients in high, thebdiehes were well cooked, is a must if you want to enjoy a resturant dinner
Tried the dine out. Looks good but taste just ok. Don't try dine out if you wanna go there.
Delicious as always! Great staff
The service was sosososososo bad!!!!!!!! I waited more then an one hour for my food. I asked many times with server. But, they didn't get out food. So, I canceled for the food. I was really upset and they attitude was so bad. That was the most terrible service ever.
I tried out their dine out menu when I was here!! It is a decent fine dining place :)! I especially love their farm to table philosophy!
Amazing place for breakfast! Beautiful looking plates, with original yet authentic and yummy food. Heartily recommend.
Amazing brunch with lamb patty eggs benny and carrots. Service was fast and great. Our server was Sebastian.
Always amazing food from Chef Wel and his team! They truly care about the quality of your food. Their BeSide menu for take-out is also always something new and fun for a great date-night in too!
Excellent place for local food! Been here multiple times and this place never disappoints! Food is always very fresh and the flavors amazing! Best place for Bison, if you like a leaner meat, but other alternatives are exceptional as well. A great place to bring friends, family, especially out of town visitors!
Outstanding restaurant in every way. Farm to table concept with locally sourced food and wine. Oysters to die for. Make a,reservation, the word is out! Nest meal I can remember.
Have been there several times and always a great menu and food. Have tried almost everything on the menu and it is best to go in a group in order to share the various items. The popcorn appetizer, chicken liver parfait and arugula salad are all excellent choices.
This is my favourite restaurant. Everything I've eaten here has been nothing short of incredible. The gnocchi is to die for!
Dine out with friends, the dishes are good????
Love it! It just became my favourite place for brunch. It's super tasty, they nailed the combination of flavours. You owe it to yourself to at least try this place once.
I’ve been here before and I’ve brought clients back there to impress them. The service and food is spectacular.
Good food. Small little room, good atmosphere. Brunch is fairly good and they do resos.
Beautiful, romantic place with a lot of heart and Canadian soul. Ingredients were really fresh, taste was solid, and plating completely refined. Our server was super nice and attentive, and it was just a really sweet place for a date night. Decently priced - one large and small plate each is just enough for two people. Great drinks menu as well! Hope to sit on the patio next time.
Very nice breakfast place with good food and a lovely atmosphere. On the steeper end of the reasonable price range.
Always amazing food and cocktails! The service is second to none. Will recommend over and over again.
Dine in
I arrived for Sunday brunch at 10:00am. They were busy but not packed, and I took a seat at the bar with no wait. Well lit and lively but not annoyingly loud. Took a while to get a photo with no people in it. Ordered a simple breakfast: two eggs over medium, potatoes, sausage, sourdough toast, and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Juice had that great flavor that comes from the combination of good preparation and the body really wanting it. Excellent prep of all breakfast items, though I didn’t think to take a photo before I ate. Food arrived unexpectedly quickly. Price just over 20 - appropriate for quality and location.
Love this place for a good brunch. Their brunch menu is amazing and pretty much every item on the menu is delicious. I would definitely recommend having a reservation if you are planning on having a weekend brunch!
Had a great experience! We sat on the patio and started our mean with the pan bread with cheddar and honey and it was outstanding. We also ordered the seafood chowder as a starter and that was equally amazing. For mains we went with the Duck and the halibut and both were great. I preferred the Duck because the puffs with whipped Duck liver inside were my favourite. I could have ate about 10 of them! Overall I highly recommend, the staff were very friendly and informative and I would definitely go back!
My wife and I ate here two days in a row, we really enjoyed the bison steaks, gnocchi and loved the sweet cheesy bread (the 1st time it was cooked perfectly, the 2nd time it was a bit overcooked but still good). The duck chowder was also a first for me and very enjoyable. Beer and wine flights were also very nice to see on the menu, I enjoyed both. The salads were beautiful but my wife thought one was a bit too strong while another had a bit too much yogurt. All in all, an excellent restaurant, worth the stop. Keep up the good work!
Food was absolutely delicious.
This was a very disappointing visit. But maybe our hopes were too high because this place sounded so good. It took SO long to get our food, and when we did it was cold and undercooked. Who wants to eat cold, bloody duck?? So disgusting. We were not given a steak kno=if for our meat and it was impossible to cut nicely. The server was nice but she wasn't very helpful. We were sat at 6PM and had our food served by 7:45. And we ordered very fast. I would not recommend.
The bison board ???? was sooooo delicious....I recommend it and it's a must try at the Forage restaurant!!!!!
Really good brunch place in downtown by Robson. Loved their homemade ketchup. It can get pretty packed if you come in around 10am. Luckily they're open at 7am, but the menu is limited.
So delicious, friendly staff, great coffee!
4.5 Great place for brunch and dinner. The menu is full of locally sourced food and drinks. The chowder, grilled kale salad, and the halibut were the standouts. Lots of street parking provided nearby. I suggest you try and book couple days in advance if you have a large group. Family friendly (they have high chairs!).
The food was the most delicious food I've ever experienced. The bill almost gave me a heart attack though.
Exquisite in every way! Charming personal service, intentionally crafted dishes with #local and #sustainablysourced fare. Definitely will return.
Excellent quality of the food, but you will easily end up with a bill of around 100 CAD for two persons, because the portions are so small. Would not recommend due to the small portions.
If you go here its a great experience, food is amazing. Sebastian was our server he was great really added to the whole experience.
All the dishes are designed for sharing, and each is unique and original using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. We had an albacore tuna dish with a dried mushroom crumble that was absolutely incredible. Hands down the best preparation of tuna I've ever had, and definitely in the top 5 dishes of all time for me.
Every time we come to Vancouver we always come here for brunch! The service has always been excellent and the food has yet to let me down!
Me and my Girlfriend and gone here every month for about a year. Yes it is expensive, but the food is always mind blowing, and I've never interacted with a staff member negatively. This is THE find dining location for Vancouver
Came here for Dine Out 2022, and was really pleased with the service, the atmosphere, the menu options, and the dishes! I appreciate the fact the ingredients are sourced locally. We were sat in a corner booth at the far end of the restaurant, which was a big bonus :) Thanks for a lovely experience!
Fantastic experience. Seating is a bit cramped, but worth it. Outstanding theme (local sourced everything). Outstanding food. Outstanding service.
Wildly average, overpriced food and bizarrely small servings. The restaurant looks great, apart from the TV screens with cheesy screen savers of photos of farms (presumably the ones supplying the ingredients). I’ll be back to try the French toast - maybe then I’ll “get” it.
Breakfasts literally amazing! Either salty or sweet.. you cannot leave disappointed!
Food was good. Portion size a little on the small size. Food feels crammed on to plate. Eggs Benedict could use a thicker protein. Service is good. Sourdough good. Could be more slices for a $3 charge. Home made jam was nice. Cold press juices were delicious.
Lovely place offering a delicious menu of local and near-local fare. The evening was made better by the charming and helpful staff.
The food and drinks were great. Their house ketchup was super tasty - no wonder they also sold it to go. It appeared they also had a really cute, but small, outside dining area. Otherwise the inside was well spaced out.
The food is good not great but good. My eggs Benny came with real ham which was really appreciated. The service was slow to non existent. I know it's tourist season but this slow means more people need to be hired on the weekend.
Delicious brunch, everything we ordered was good portion sizes, nice atmosphere. Definitely order the pancakes
Not recommended, especially for the well-travelled, cultured, culinary-inclined few. The dishes star items tasted really good, not so with regards to other items on the plate. However, the service was rushed. The main courses were served before the appetisers were done with resulting in the table being overflowed and luke warm mains. Shortly after the entrée plates were cleared, we were made to understand that we should settle the bill and leave. Even worse Forage's general manager, namely Margot Baloro does not seem to have any notion of what consists of customer care and service recovery.
Context: Came here during Dine Out Vancouver. Perhaps this was my mistake. Seating: promptly seated as had reso Service: bad, bad. Understaffed? No greeting or water for what seemed like 10 minutes. Had to flag for service throughout the evening. Additionally, I order quite a few drinks with my dinner and was only asked once if I would like another drinks. Now, one could argue I could just ask for another (which I did), but good service would be the servers asking as they clear my empty drink away (don’t you guys want to make money?). By the end of it, I gave up because it had already left a bad note with the subpar service. Food: Bland and under delivered. Likely due to these items being batch and largely pre-prepped for DOV. Atmosphere: Was okay, nothing amazing. Verdict: I’ve dined here previously and thought I’d try it again during DoV, unfortunately with everything experience, I would not return.
I spent 60 dollars for the 4 course menu and let me tell you I have never been more disappointed in my life. I never write reviews unless it's well deserved or it disappoints me beyond anything imaginable. The food was absolutely disgusting, and laughable, all of these dishes tasted like if they had been opened from a can or bought from Costco and the main course only came with 3 small as hell pork pieces which didn't end up filling me at all, the cheese cake at the end tasted like it was store bought and didn't even gave the whole piece, they gave 1/10 of a slice and decorated the plate to make it look elegant. I had to end up eating on another restaurant afterwards because of how little they gave and how bad it was and how expensive it was. I do not recommend this to anybody I'm so shocked of how they are so highly rated because they do not deserve that what so ever. This is hands down the worst restaurant in the entire lower mainland.
Breakfast
Sunday brunch is great, the size of the beer was amazing for the price twas crowded as hell and a line up. I suggest you make reservations.
Wonderfully thought out food that's presented with beautiful style. The chowder and the cornbread are delicious, as was the trout!
I was at Forage for dinner while on business in Vancouver. The food was very well presented and delicious. Their food is mostly locally sourced. I had the smoked white sturgeon and bison tongue fritters, served with a tasty marmalade mustard They also have a good craft beer selections. The staff are also very friendly
Service and atmosphere were very good. Food was missing something. We were for breakfast
Great experience. The food presentation and service style is unique and they pull it off.
First visit for weekend brunch, the bison hash was delicious!! Looking forward to going again some time. Coffee was great too! Nicely done Forage.
Whole family loved it. We went back on our last day in Vancouver. The menu changes, but everything we had was delicious!!
We came here for a Sunday brunch, the food was great and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Their pancakes are very delicious. However, their Bacon could be a little better, it didn’t seem that it was made to order and tasted a little old and cold. The coffee was good and friendly staff and fresh ingredients make a memorable experience.
Stunning! Simple but super well done bison brisket breakfast with hash and sourdough bread. DAMNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!
I am a huge brunch person so I am always looking for new brunch places to try. Forage is definitely worth trying. The food was delicious and we did not have to wait long for our order to come out. This place gets busy so I recommend making reservations (which is a nice perk rather than having to line up for popular Medina!).
I would love to give a better rating as the food is really good, but the service did not match the quality and price of the dishes. We felt that we received far worse service than the regulars and other customers that looked like the target audience (youngish, urban, hip, white). It would be nice to see that a place that prides itself with local and sustainable produce were to be more inclusive. Food lovers who can afford your prices come in many different forms!
Nice place to visit. The spiced lentil breakfast is very much like an Indian cuisine from Bangladesh. Not my favourite pick for brunch but exotic enough. Might be trying the duck confit or chicken liver next time.
This was my favorite meal I had while traveling in Vancouver! We got the duck, morel and asparagus, and a bison carpaccio. Everything was delicious and surprising, with really interesting flavors and textures. Even the things I wasn't sure I'd like (the bison carpaccio) I ended up loving. My absolute favorite from what we ordered was probably the bison carpaccio; I would definitely get that again. The hazelnut "dirt" on the morels and asparagus was a fun touch (our waiter was also very knowledgeable about what each component of each dish was). Our duck was good, although you've gotta cut it smaller or you'll be chewing for a while. The bread with liver that came with the duck was also nice, although very unliver-like in taste.
Dine in
Nicest staff and quick service. Delicious food
The eggs Benedict were more than phenomenal, and all of the sauces including the ketchup were made in the restaurant. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast!
Forage is the restaurant that i always wanted to try. So it became the first restaurant I try for Dineout Vancouver 2019. To be honest, I was rather disappointed at the food. The only dish we like is the duck rillete - However, the fried veggie on the side came out cold, and because it was fried long time ago, it tasted very oily. The salmon tataki is ok. The main course really disappointed us. The steak my boyfriend order came out COLD! we checked with our server and she told me it's supposed to be like that....and the regular dish is like that too..so... i am not sure if this is true, and to be honest, i don't want to come back for the second time. I ordered sable fish, and it was very salty. Cheesepuff was ok but the chocolate mocha bar tasted like kitcat. I was not sure what to expect but for a $45 dine out menu, there are a lot of good restaurants out there providing dine out combos that's way better than this. This is not worth $45.
A great brunch spot. Their food is to die for - especially the breakfast scones.
We reserved for a Christmas eve dinner, are the tables are very packed. We literally were 3cm away from our neighbours which isnt nice. The pre-set menu has turkey and pork as main without any other options which is non mainstream entree. Their food doesnt seem too appetizing. The restaurant decoration and environment is decent. The set menu is 90 dollars and 120 with paired wine.
Overpriced for what you're getting. Came for brunch server was basically nowhere to be found. I get that during brunch rushes things take longer, but she wasn't there to ask us how our food was, to bring us condiments, or to bring us the bill. Food was average at best and service is poor.
Really good food but be prepared to spend half your paycheque on dinner. The salmon was excellent. The staff knew what the fudge they were talking about. Really attentive and very professional. Although that means you have to leave a big tip on top of your already not cheap dinner. Great for special occasions or fancy people
Good brunch, bread and potatoes are amazing! Bigger portion would have been appreciated but it was great
Really good food and service. Ambiance is comfortable, bright and spacious. Portions are small though.
We had breakfast here and the food and service was awesome. Everything is made from scratch including the ketchup and jam. It is really pricy here but it is worth it.
Excellent food and respectful service. The food has flavour and is of high quality that you can both see and taste. The pricing for breakfast is just marginally higher than other restaurants. The staff is very knowledgeable and can tell you all about the food you are enjoying.
My family was on a trip to Vancouver and we loved it. My son ate a lot of crispy potatoes and pancakes. We are definitely going back.
Decent, affordable brunch venue. Got the French toast, their award-winning duck and seafood bisque, bison hash, halibut cheek egg Benedict, and an egg in skillet thing that I don't remember or care much for. The bisque is truly award-winning. Super rich and savory. It's very creamy and has chunks of duck meat in it. Goes very well with toast. Recommend sharing this with someone as it is quite heavy and filling. French toast was ok. Bison hash was ok. Halibut check was not what I was expecting. The fish meat was not as tender or juicy as I wanted, and the egg Benedict overpowered the fish.
Cool place but I didn't feel well after I ate there and I saw a mouse running around the dining room. Probably just a freak thing as it is well reviewed but I most likely won't be back.
The food was great. I love the bison steak. It was flavourful and tasty. The customer service from the bartender was average, while it was amazing from the rest of the team.
Fabulous New Years Eve dinner. Ordered the special duck board which was over the top. Also enjoyed the green salad and beet salad.
A must try restaurant when you're in Vancouver. Every dish is amazing. I've been there three times and I've enjoyed every single meal there. If I had to choose two dishes, it would be the duck beast and the bison steak.
Very tasty food, nice setting and venue. Were greeted by friendly staff. Unfortunately the waiter serving us didn't bring back our change after paying. Although we understood the custom of tipping is different in North America as opposed to the UK, every other place we had eaten gave us back our change or would at least ask if we wanted change back. It was a shame as it was quite rude to us and ended the meal on a sour note and is the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars. Otherwise the food was lovely.
Favorite brunch place. Great quality food and service.
A very cool dining experience. My partner won't stop talking about it. A touch too earthy for my simple burger stomach. The pan bread was amazing though, I could eat that all year.
We visited while in town for my wife's birthday. It has a neat menu of local food and drink. The service was good and some of the dishes were spectacular. The edible garden and cornbread were real standouts. The only reason it wasn't a 5* experience was our duck was poorly prepared - lots of white fat that hadn't been rendered down and too rare for our taste (verging on raw in spots).
Food was absolutely delicious. Gnocchi so light and tender. Sage butter was flavourful. Staff were exceptionally friendly. Great experience and so glad we dined there. 5 star plus!!
Local food and beer was great. Server Rachel was phenomenal. One of the best restaurants in Vancouver.
We had an exquisite meal. The food is carefully, subtly prepared-locally sourced, absurdly fresh and served by a happy, and adept staff. The duck breast is a standout. Everything is carefully thought out. Excellent wine list.
Fantastic food and a warm atmosphere. Go for a visit to experience the deliciousness! It gets busy so take note!
Best food in the neighborhood. Cocktails were nice to.
Disappointed as I was mislead with the holiday meal! Being Celiac and not wanting to cook a full turkey, I was hopeful when I saw on their website that the gravy with the holiday meal was advertised as gluten free. Looking at the reviews the restaurant appeared to be very accomodating for gluten free diets. I called in advance to see if the whole meal was gluten free, and was informed that the stuffing was not, but seeing as I was ordering on the less busy day (Boxing Day), if I put a note in the special comments section there was a good chance my stuffing could be relocated in a third meal that was intended to be shared between my two kids. My husband picked up the meal, and understood that my stuffing could not be moved but was omitted. Upon looking at the prepared dish upon arriving at home, the stuffing was indeed included and contaminated the whole dish. This was very misleading - had I been told on the phone call that meals could not be accomodated, I would not have ordered a $45 green salad and cup of gluten free gravy, which was all I could eat. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
Always a solid experience for fresh, flavourful food
I had the halibut, which was fantastic. Very nice, clean restaurant. I say at the bar and received somewhat minimal service. I noticed that, halfway through my meal, a woman at several seats away at the bar. The service she received was incredible. With all the fantastic food in the area, I'll pick one with great service over this one.
20191215 Sunday, my friends and I have decided to have our early Christmas brunch together at Forage Vancouver. None of us has been to this place. We would like to give a try at Forage Vancouver. Location Forage is located on Robson Street, one of the busiest streets downtown Vancouver. It attracts so many customers everyday. Interior Design Forage has the western modern style design inside the restaurant. From the ads, we believe this is a big restaurant. It has two parts inside the restaurant, bar and restaurant. But, when we walked inside the restaurant, it looks totally different from our thoughts. Inside it’s very smaller than we thought to be. Food Three of us are ordered our own dish and shared with each other. I had classic benny, made by back bacon, free - range eggs, crispy potatoes, and hollandaise. My two friends had forage mushroom omelette and two rivers turkey sausage hash. Forage mushroom omelette is with fresh herbs, okanagan goat cheese, crispy potatoes and toast. Two rivers turkey sausage has rashed vegetables, fresh - rang eggs, watercress pesto, and toast on the side. Our food came out of the kitchen fast. The taste of food was OK, but nothing is excited about them. I believe it’s because I used to make these type of the western breakfast at home everyday. If people who are having different cultural background, may have different feeling about the food. Price The price of food is not cheap. Each main dish is around $15. Some of them are even around $20 dollar. Personally, I don’t feel the food is worth the prices at all.
Great experience! A lot of local products, beer selection is delicious and the food just outstanding. Great staff, but a little bit loud atmosphere.
Absolutely outstanding food, great happy hour prices...great non rushed service....this is an absolute must stop for dining
Attended for a business dinner. The sharing small dishes was perfect, food was fantastic, and our server was great! Incredible food quality and tasty desserts. Will be back!
Service great, cool ambiance, amazing food. Serving aesthetics cool as well. Great place to take someone visiting town.
I lived a year in Vancouver and Forage is my favorite restaurant for either breakfast or brunch. Good food, the place is clean and cosy. I would definitely recommend it!
Came in for Sunday brunch. Made a reservation online which is recommended for the crunch times of 11:30-1. We shared the house scones. I had the halibut cakes with poached eggs, and a cappuccino. Lovely atmosphere and delicious, beautifully presented food. Can’t wait to come back and try more.
Fantastic and unique menu with original and interesting items. Great for foodies and adventurers of all ages. Definitely not a cheap restaurant but far from overpriced.
Food was ok, nothing special. But service was so poor and unprofessional. Staff looks weird, tired angry and not welcoming at all. Manager, wow she was just a person I think tried hard to increase the pressure and negativity in place. Never will back. 2 start just for cooker....
Great place for brunch. Awesome food and great service. We had the salmon benny, mushroom benny, classic two egg breakfast, baked eggs, and salted duck york french toast. All these turned out really great and we absolutely loved the salted duck yoke french toast. Probably the best item we had. The french toast was the perfect mix of salt and sweet. The inside gives a vibe of being outside too. Just the right level of brightness. Even tho it was gloomy and rainy outside, it almost felt like a sunny day. Kinda cool.
Amazing food and staff. Loved it.
Love this place. As a party of one, they make you feel very welcome here and the food and drinks are great! Will definitely be back.
Had an incredible dinner here last night! The service was very good and extremely knowledgeable about each dish and wine selection. The restaurant its self had a wonderful friendly atmosphere and I can not recommend this place enough! A local jem showcasing the best of what BC has to offer!
This was a really great spot to have brunch. I got the French toast with candied bacon and it was really delicious. The portion size was generous. I also had a taste of the classic bennedict that came with home style fries and house made ketchup/salsa. Everything tasted high quality and the atmosphere was cute and rustic. The mains were reasonably priced ranging from about $13-$20. I'll have to come back and try more of their options!
Food was good concept was interesting but not for me...rating is based on the quality of the food
We enjoyed a tasty meal here last night but I can’t quite give it the five stars I was hoping to. We had a half dozen oysters which were paired with a clever mignonette and Kim chi, and the bison carpaccio. The aioli on the carpaccio was a bit overwhelming for my taste. For our main we chose the gnocchi with chanterelles. I know chanterelles pretty well and I’m pretty sure the mushrooms were not chanterelles, but I wasn’t about to complain since it was so tasty - perfectly cooked plump tender gnocchi with a tantalizing cheese sauce. We finished with “coffee five ways” dessert, which was interesting and delicious though I wished for more coffee intensity along with the subtlety. Service from Clayton was friendly and professional. The lively but intimate ambience was impaired by tv screens and loud pop music, which I found an odd choice for fine dining. Overall, I wish I had remembered to book the best of bc tasting menu. The a la carte is a little pricy for the portion size especially since the ambience is bar-like. I would like give forage another chance to earn that fifth star, but I have a lot of other restaurants on my list before we get back.
Delicious brunch that brightened a wet and cold Sunday. Service was exceptional too. Just the right amount of attention.
Atmosphere and setting is lovely. The portions are relatively generous which we greatly appreciated! The Bison Carpaccio was our favourite - a wonderful blend of savoury flavours and textures. We tried the Flexible Chocolate for dessert though the texture wasn't quite the melt-in-your-mouth we expected
This was my first impression of Vancouver and it was very nice! This place focuses on local products and they were prepared in simple yet innovative ways.
Nice farm to table restaurant. Had duck breast and tuna fish there for sharing. Quite delicious. Most time are busy but we got luck to find a table for two. Very nice waiters, waitresses and manager.
Whoa. If I had to forage a meal this great I would certainly be in trouble. Luckily, they do the foraging for you. One of the better meals I have had in Vancouver recently. 5 out of 4 taste points. Would eat here again.
The only reason why this place gets 4 stars is because the food was amazingly well-done and the ambience was great! Couldn’t be happier. Unfortunately, this is a service industry, and the service wasn’t great at all. I reserved us a table for my boyfriend’s birthday and I had mentioned on the phone at booking that when we arrived, for an Old Fashioned to be prepared for him, and the girl on the phone agreed and said it was no problem. On the day, when we got there, there was no Old Fashioned. Didn’t make a big stink about it, so we tried some of their drinks.
Service
Love their food here. Great atmosphere as well. Their scones are good too
Best meal we have had in Vancouver in a long time .. From start to finish ..every dish was on point ... Service was excellent .. Kudos to the chef ! We will be back ... Often!
The food was amazing. Service was great. The portions were enough for me to dock it two stars. A soup and the pork main dish hardly had enough food to qualify as an appetizer. I had to forage somewhere else for enough food to qualify as a meal.
Food was good customer service was also so good
Pretty cozy. Very warm. Excellent and very caring and attentive service. Good choice of breakfast.
Super fresh farmed food, with great service. Smaller spot, so I would recommend a reservation.
Came for brunch. Reservations are a must if you want a table. Had to wait 45 min to sit at the bar. The Macchiato was burnt, one of the worst I have had. Food was super basic and overpriced. Staff was friendly.
Great food, and great service! Will definitely be going again.
The food is tasty, but for the price...you're better off foraging for food yourself. Maybe if you're one of those rich people who want to impress by throwing away money, this is the place for you.
Whenever I have friends coming from out of town, Forage is something I try to make part of their Vancouver experience. I feel like their eco-conscious menu, and take-what-you-need ideology is very much part of the West coast spirit for me. Seafood can be a hit-or-miss in most restaurants, mostly ending up overcooked and dry. Perhaps its to air on the side of caution in the realm of giving guests ecoli and other wonderful souvenirs. However, I have always found the seafood courses featured at Forage to be succulent and bursting with local flavour. I would also recommend their delicious array of vegetarian options.
Service was good. The inside was really nice, they have big windows and good seating arrangement. However, we found the dishes a little salty, especially the smoke salmon Benny (it was a special). I felt like most of the saltiness came from the potatoes. The eggs were on point thou, so that was extremely good!
Let's talk about an ok dinner experience. I had the Best of BC tasting menu. The first course of cauliflower soup was really the only stand out and even then I don't think the green onion on top belonged and I found it clashed with the flavor of the soup. My second course was the salad option which was fine but I saw variations of it across many restaurants throughout the area. It could have used having the leaves divided a bit more thoroughly as some pieces were too large to eat. It also needed dressed a bit better, the top was almost entirely without dressing, the bottom was better. Third was gnocchi, they were mushy but the peas were lovely. I did mention the texture issue to the staff. Fourth was the borderline offensive cheesecake. The actual cheesecake portion was decidedly "meh" but for the base which was downright unpleasant. The cherry sauce tasted like something had gone wrong and someone had tried to rescue it with moderate success. The caramel sauce and mint meringue were good. It was all made much more disappointing by the wonderful fresh cherry on the plate highlighting how unpleasant other components were. So overall it was fine but nothing I'd go back for.
The brunch here is fantastic. Staffs are friendly and the menu has a great selection of healthy dishes.
All right. So, tonight I went out to eat at forage during the DINE OUT VANCOUVER. I picked this place because it was recommended by the DINE OUT VANCOUVER website. We got to the place and it had a good vibe. Until we sat down. I didn't notice it at all until my girlfriend pointed out that the waitress ( Misty D ) did not even introduce herself to our table. (WE found out after when we saw the RECEIPT). She did not engage with our table at all. She only came to drop off the food and take our order. (Any ROBOT can do that). Misty D did not check up on us at all. (But we saw MISTY D engaging with the table next to us). We finished our water but she didn't even bother coming by to refill it the whole night. MISTY D didn't even bother coming by to ask us if our food is good or if we are still doing okay. MISTY D gave us the bill even though we were still eating. Like, she was hurrying us to get out of the restaurant. ( I mean-- If your restaurant is 4 out of 5. We expect a GOOD SERVICE.) My friends and I wanted to sit, drink our wine, talk and maybe order some more drink. But, MISTY D had to come by with the DEBIT MACHINE so that we would pay. AND THAT MADE ME REALLY MAD. MISTY D basically treated us like little KIDS who doesn't have money. Honestly. This was one of the shittiest service I have ever had. PERIOD. I can go to one of the crappiest restaurant and get a better service than this. OVERALL; FOOD WAS GREAT! :D
Had one of the best meals I've ever had last night. Wonderful service .
Wandering west from our hotel in financial district past the more expenive options, my wife and I were fortunate to walk past Forage and glance at the menu. The eclectic recipes and cool ambience pulled us in. We sat at the bar, where we pinged the bar tender with questions about the dishes. Snacked on kale chips and drank pilsner and a white wine blend, both of which paired with the variety of foods that we ordered. We noshed on small plates of butternut squash ravioli, lamb ribs and bison carpacio. The pace of service was liesurely as the dishes took some time to prepare, but we weren't in any hurry and enjoyed hanging out.
Best restaurant I've been to in years. Creative, local, attentive, and masterfully executed. I'll definitely be back.
Amazing food and great staff

Favourite breakfast place in Vancouver. Local ingredients, great flavour and friendly staff. Can't beat their candied bacon!
A popular place for brunch with nice service and good food.
Great food great atmosphere, book a table before you go!
Ambience was nice Duck chowder was also quite nice and tasty However the fish and octopus was quite poor. Octopus was super rubbery and the fish was alright.
Service was great. Quality of the food was amazing .
Sat at the bar for brunch and received great service! Bartender was fun and polite. Food was amazing and they had a wonderful selection of beer and wine! Coffee was good too.
Took my wife and mother in law there for dinner. Had a bit of hiccup about the reservation time but all sorted out in the end. We ordered an entree each. Bison, halibut and duck. They were all perfectly prepared. You can tell the ingredients were top quality and chef certainly put a lot of effort in preparing them. Highly recommended
Romantic setting, great ambiance! In my humble opinion, Forage is one of the best restaurants in Vancouver! I rarely give 5 stars but this restaurant really deserves it! Locally sourced, in season, delicious mouth watering food. You must try the corn bread and halibut! Our waitress was courteous and knowledgeable about food and wine pairings. Treat yourself to forage on your next birthday, date night or special occasion! You won’t regret it!
Good service, pleasant ambience, food locally sourced, but the flavours were a little pedestrian for the level of expectations set at the door. Been here twice, but I probably won't be coming again. 3.5 stars overall
Great food Fresh and innovative. Bonus that our dog could join us on the patio.
Came here to say goodbye to Vancouver and I had an amazing experience. They grow everything you eat, it's all local and it definitely shows. We ordered a bunch a dishes to share so we could have a little bit of everything. Excellent service by Ryan, warming and welcoming environment, great signature drinks! Highly recommend booking.
I love this restaurant. It's nice and comfortable, contemporary but not without character. Cosy atmosphere. The food is absolutely magical. Everything I tried there was simply delicious, beautifully served. Staff is respectful and highly professional. Five stars, Forage. Thank you for your hospitality.
I had the corned bison hash and my wife had the halibut cake eggs Benedict. They were both amazing dishes. Sit at a table because bar service can be quite slow.
Cool place for breakfast or lunch, especially if you like eggs if all types. High quality food and good service.
Lovely space and great service. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and a latte; both were divine. Would definitely recommend for locals and visitors alike.
Better than Medina and no lineup. Very cute place, wasn't too loud and food was simply delicious.
We have been here for a few times over the years. Their dinner is fabulous, a bit pricey, portion is small (we had to go somewhere after for another round of food as we were still hungry), but absolutely amazing taste. Yesterday we came here again for brunch, I had to say I was a bit disappointed. Service was good and friendly, food presentation was great, but the taste wasn’t there. The daily feature we ordered - Singaporean noodle was way too salty, so the server was kind to get us another dish - French toast. But it was just okay, I had much better toast in other small local cafes. Other food we had was good, but not like OMG it’s amazing. Anyway, maybe chef is different now, I just wasn’t impressed.
Great food where the ingredients are truly the star. The panbread is a personal favourite, just order it and see. The salmon that I had was amazing, not my favourite fish to get cooked (I prefer the sashimi), but it was cooked beautifully. Crisp skin and soft meat. Also a beautiful restaurant.
The quality and presentation was exquisite... The quantity was lacking! The menu and everything about this place is very original. Everybody should go and this atleast once. Cheers
Spectacular food presented in an amazing manner. The staff was friendly and courteous, the food fresh and the atmosphere right. Price was decent for a place of this quality. Would highly recommend!
Fantastic food. Relaxed atmosphere. Prices affordable. Only downfall was the coffee. It was OK, but should be better considering the great quality of food they serve.
Just back from Forage. Fabulous fresh food in buzzing place with hard working very friendly knowledgable staff all working as a team. Great selection of local beer and wine. We, as a couple, shared 3 plates plus 1 dessert. I cannot think of anything negative to say. We did not book but as it was not too late there was still place at the bar where we ate and observed the staff making magic with their service routine.
The food here was very flavourful! The soup was very delicious, rich with a thick texture. The only problem was that the menu that was misleading. The dishes were quite small despite called “large” and are not meant to be shared, and the customer service was okay! They charge for water as well! Not very professional for a high end restaurant!
Friendly attentive staff even though it gets crowded easily. Eggs Benedict is great, and they work with local growers.
Went here for Dine Out! Appetizer, entree and dessert selection for Dine Out here don't tend to disappoint. Had the tataki appy, bison steak entree and cheese puff dessert. Everything was cooked well, presented nicely and came to $47 total. Not bad for the quality.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Amazing food and service. Make a reservation on Open Table.
Wait for 40 min on Sunday morning for Brunch. Slow in setting up table and getting order. The food and beverage are great.
Service
One of my favourites when visiting Vancouver. Sit at the bar. The tender Nick is awesome. Get the BC wine flights and enjoy!
Great brunch spot! Was recommended by our tour guide. Delicious farm-to-table meals.
Fabulous food and atmosphere. The eggs Benny and mushroom omelette were exceptional. The only miss is that the coffee is watery and well below this otherwise exemplary restaurant.
One of the most interesting experiences I've had dining. Go with an open mind and ask server for recommendation if needed. Menu is certainly different, but the food feels and tastes earthy, healthy, fresh, and it's creativity will leave you wanting more from this place. Perfect place for a date, formal dinner, not a serious setting but more business casual/semi formal.
This place is definitely recommended if you are willing to try out some nice exotic farm-to table food. I went there for dinner and got the duck breast, which was on the menu, keep in mind they do change their menu fairly often, and their website doesn't change until awhile after the menu has changed, and it was good, but the dish did have a few questionable items i wasn't particularly familiar with. This place also does this thing where its a sharing food esque place, so you just take the food from the middle, instead if each individual dish. The flavours were also very intense, so no need to add salt!
I believe that was the best bison I have ever had! & The service was excellent! Thanks team Forage.
This is definitely one of my favourite places for steak! The environment is clean and the dishes are very delicious ???? great place for events or dates!
Super chill vibes. Fresh, local eats and super-strong drinks! Insta-worthy plates and friendly waitstaff with a small, constantly-changing menu.
Sharing plates, sent to the table as they're ready, a brilliant and charming experience. Enjoyed the gnocchi, sturgeon, and kale salad.
I came here for brunch and ordered seafood paella. The paella has a lot of ingredients in it; it's well-seasoned and the portion was exactly the right amount for brunch. The butter on the sourdough was also melted to the perfect texture. The whole dining experience was superb - friendly service, amazing food and comfortable vibe. I would definitely return to try their dinner menu!
Wonderful food, truly. From the oysters to the pork hotel pasta, we had a fabulous meal. Two appetizers and two mains did it for us, so the price was not unreasonable for dinner for two.
This is a place to have your man take you to impress you. The food and the service is absolutely amazing.
Absolutely wonderful farm to table restaurant highlighting the best that BC has to offer. Stopped here for our final dinner in Vancouver and Forage did not disappoint. The interior is sparse yet chic, and the service is really friendly. Our server was more than happy to explain the menu and answer any questions we might have. The food, though, was the real highlight. We opted for a completely seafood meal—choosing the salmon and tuna tartare. Both were excellent and quickly devoured. The desserts ended up being the real highlight—quirky and delicious! This place is pricey no doubt, but I feel that the prices are commensurate with the quality and presentation. I also commend them on their extensive wine list almost entirely made up of local BC wines. If I make it back to Vancouver soon I will definitely be paying another visit.
This place was recommended by friends as a great place for breakfast, lunch and even dinner. We did the breakfast brunch and it was well worth it in every way. Service, atmosphere and food.
SUPER VEGAN FRIENDLY. Deliciousness and attentive service. Fun family sharing plates with creative flavour pairings. Recommend: stinging nettle risotto, the mushrooms and the rustic quinoa.
I went here for brunch and it was delicious. It may be a tad overpriced, but everything was very fresh and my food came out piping hot, so you get what you pay for. I will go back for sure.
Local, sustainable and most importantly, delicious! Chef Choi keeps the menu fresh and updated, every time you go there is something different. Great happy hour and dinner, and they have the best brunch in Vancouver.
I've been here a few times now, and the service is always reaaallly slow! The staff also don't refill drinks. We have always gone for brunch, during their slower days. The food is ok. I don't think it's worth the wait.
Amazing food, great service. Food is presented beautifully. An enjoyable dining atmosphere. I had the very tasty duck confit special.
Great tasting food, friendly staff however with a long wait time and pricey so would recommend making a booking.

The actual food was good but it was a really snobby atmosphere. Our server started off by saying we HAVE to share, it is a family style restaurant and basically made us feel like we share our food or we leave. This isn't the easiest thing to do considering their limited menu. One friend hates mushrooms, the other is vegetarian. This makes it quite impossible to share food. We each decided to get our own dish, and one of the hostess brought sharing plates anyways. Our server comes over, grabs the plates from her and yells out "NO THIS TABLE ISN'T SHARING". I literally felt like I was in middle school getting in trouble for not sharing my food. Be prepared to go with people who like the same food as you and be prepared to share. Otherwise you are made to feel like a jerk. We didn't tip and won't be back.
Great food and service. Alexis was our server he did it great! Loved this place ????
Ultra fresh and seasonal ingredients take the spotlight of Forage.
This place is freaking amazing. A must try for any foodie for sure
Had the most fabulous meal. Easy to book online for a table. The welcome was warm. Our waiter was excellent - filled with excitement to tell us about their specials. Gleeful all the meal through we so enjoyed our dining experience. The fusion of flavours and quality of food was 5Star. Haven’t eaten like this since being in Europe.
Great breakfast spot in Vancouver! We enjoyed it so much, our little one even finished his dish. Expedient friendly service, fresh no thrills tasty food. It's a win!
I’m never disappointed with this place. However they did miss the coffee I ordered. The food is always delicious and I frequent often. I highly recommend their brunch. They’re offerings of different scones always puts a smile on my face. Eggs perfectly cooked. Though I did find their Turkey sausage a bit on the dry side, perhaps it was just a little over cooked.

Amazing food, whatever you order make sure you try the homemade ketchup!
Service
I think my friend summed it up with saying the food is like sex on a plate or in some cases a pan. The presentation of each dish was creative and great not to mention extremely tasty. As well, you can expect the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable.
Easily one of the best meals I've ever had! I was visiting Vancouver and a friend and I had dinner at Forage. The service was beyond amazing (everyone was so friendly and accommodating), the cocktails and wine incredible, and the FOOD - it was a mouthwatering experience! We had the Roasted Pan Bread with Spicy Honey which was a delicious flavour explosion I had never experienced before. The Keremeos Asparagus was a delicious alternative to a salad, the Foraged Mushrooms on Rye was also amazing! My friend had the Duck Pastrami which she loved, and I had the Spruce Tip Gnocchi which I'd say is a must-have! For dessert we finished with Elderflower and Fromage Frais Cheese Puff which was to die for! In addition to the food being off the charts good, the entire restaurant (not just the locally sourced ingredients) is sustainable, right down to the kitchen design and the bathrooms. I love the commitment to the environment, Canada, and seasonal produce. A truly unique and incredible experience!
Great food and service. Thanks nick (hope i got that right) for the drinks and the chat!
Amazing brunch here with friendly and accommodating staff - must try the salted duck yolk french toast! It was super rich and delicious, you may want to share with a friend or two. Also tried the egg heirloom tomato fondue with lentils and cheese curds and it was very filling and hearty. I do wish they put the bread on the side though as it got soggy pretty quickly.
Came for a first try of brunch at Forage in celebration for something. Being in a celebratory mood, we ordered everything on the brunch menu to share. Food was all of pretty good quality. Burger was really good though. Three stars. The atmosphere and space are really nice compared to other brunch spots on the same level. The plates, bowls, and cutlery are really nice. Five stars. Service was nothing noteworthy. Friendly, but slow and inconsistent. One star
looks like this restaurant have they own farm to grow vegetable ,the fresh juice here was so perfect with breakfast .French Toast was ok.
