Awesome pre-show dinner, the moules frites congolaise (tomato coconut cream with chili and lime) was the definition highlight! The foie de canard also solid, especially good on brioche toast although the port ice was a tad odd for me. Bison was excellently cooked (but I'm not a huge fan of steaks) Wish we had room and time for dessert!
Service
I heard this place had really great breakfast and oh man did it live up to the hype! My husband and I went there for breakfast or brunch every day that we were in town. Everything from the coffee to the waffles was amazing! Definitely a must for anyone whether you are traveling or a local!
I’ve been here a few times abs really loved the dining experience; however, last time I visited the food was terrible and did not have the same high quality. Don’t think we’d return
We were planning to go to the popular brunch spot Jam but were intimidated by the standing only in the rain line and decided to check out Chambar. Luckily, we were seated right away at the downstairs bar. My date and I split 2 waffles which come with a dipping sauce style topping - milk chocolate lavender and raspberry caramel. The milk chocolate was particularly good with the Belgian style waffles. In addition, we had a delicious braised short rib hash with over easy eggs. It came in a cast iron skillet heavy with sauce and flavor. We'd definitely go again.
Consistently good. Takes reservations unlike most other brunch places around. And that's a plus because Medina, their sister restaurant which has much of the same menu, will always have a line down the block.
One of the restaurants in Vancouver that actually lives up to expectations. As someone who spent a lot of time in Belgium, I was impressed by all the littles details that are true to its culinary culture. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was extremely impressive. I absolutely recommend the Brussel sprouts, be careful how many beers you have !
Dinner
I went to the restaurant around 10am since Medina was packed and there's already a lineup. When I got to Chamber, the place is about 30% full, I was shown to a table right next to the door, which I expressed that I 'd prefer not next to the entrance, then the hostess took about a min or two at the monitor, picking another table, which is one next to the entrance, despite the restaurant being not full has plenty of selection. When I also express my reluctance, I pointed to the tables at the bar, she again want to put us at the table right in front of the foyer. ???? When we sat down, despite the low customer to server ratio, the service is sub-par and slow. The whole time my male friend and I were there, I was treated as non-existent. The waffles were barely lukewarm, which is a big turn off, particularly when the restaurant is not busy at all, so there should be no excuse for that if they are freshly made. All the time you see the hostesses walking around but the place is half empty. I give two stars instead one because the coffee was good and the restaurant decor is nice, the location is also convenient, otherwise I would have give zero. Will never go back again.
Great beer list. Food ok. Wife loves the muscles. Very nice place. Limited parking.
Delicious moules-frites. Reasonably priced. Service hit and miss. Close to Stadium-Chinatown Station. Metered street parking.
Quite pricy but the food quality is excellent. Went there for a brunch at 10:30 and the place was almost full. Great balance of taste to complement the freshness of the food. Good spot to take your date to, just remember to book a table!

This is one of our fav restaurant in Vancouver. Their food never disappoint. Tonight we went to try their dine out menu. It was amazing!! So delicious!!! Completely speechless. $45 also a good deal compare to other restaurants. Their service also very attentive. Definitely will come back soon.
Meal type
Went there for lunch. Coffee was good, but food portion was small. Service was awful. Waiters pretended not seeing you and took even ten minutes just to make an order. Unless you got plenty of time and do not have any expectations on services. I strongly recommend you to go elsewhere.
We went here for brunch and it was great. The food is farm to table so it was really fresh and amazing. The vibe was really airy and classic, making for a solid place for a midday snack. The alcohol-free specialty drinks were awesome. Note it can be really busy, so try to check it out as the shifts are just opening or closing soon.
Ritabear was awesome. I wanted to give them a 5 star but ritabear made threats about stabbing us lol. All in good fun of course. Thank you for the laughs 5 out of 5 just bugging ????
I was gullible in believing that this restaurant actually cared about the guest experience. I took their website at face value when they express that they appreciate constructive feedback as much as glowing reviews. I now know this to be false. I also liked their blurb about first nations land, but now I too question the sincerity of that response. I went there with my partner the Sunday after halloween for brunch. The host staff and greeters were wonderful. We were taken to our table, which was tucked into the front corner of the restaurant, beside a table of 6-8 diners. The service started off well. But then the food arrived. My dish came first, and a few minutes later my partner's dish arrived. We also had to ask about the frites we ordered. Those took another five minutes to arrive. I was surprised that they even sent out dishes individually instead of together in the first instance. My dish was excellent. My partner's dish was lukewarm at best. But nobody seemed to care. No server did a quality check until they picked up the plates at the end of the meal. They were more interested in trying to deal with the guy pretending to be 'in charge' at the table of 6-8 beside us. It was clear that the guy at that table worked in the kitchen and were there trying to impress their family and or friends. The kitchen guy was arrogant, and ordered his wait staff around - that much was clear. I do not place the blame on the waitstaff - they were simply focusing their attention on the biggest issue in our area. What was also clear was that we were not relevant as customers. I have been recommending Chambar based on other people's reviews for years. This was the opportunity to turn me into a regular customer. But instead the only thing they have done is taught me to direct my dining dollars elsewhere ... to another restaurant that cares more about their customers, than about their staff dining on their day off. It also taught me not to ever again recommend a restaurant without first visiting it myself. Brunch was about $70.00. For this level of coin, you should at least get a quality check and a modicum of attention. We would have been better served at ...dare I say it ... Cactus Club. My advice: take your money elsewhere. Frequent restaurants that actually care about their customers beyond just publishing nice blurbs on their websites. Read through the BS praise on review sites that are clearly written by the workers themselves, and only go to places that have a genuine care for their guests. And note to Chambar - this situation and review could have been turned around with one simple email or phone call in response to my lengthy initial and private complaint to you via your website. But instead you just ignored that.
Met a young couple from Alberta who recommended this place for mussels. We stopped by during happy hour and lingered for a couple hours over wine and the best mussels we have ever had. Great atmosphere and service
Went there on Sunday Sept 5 during the Happy Hour. Only thing that I could order from the menu was fries. It is 2021! Even Keg Steakhouse offers at least one vegan option that is not lettuce or fries. Needless to say we left hungry.
I’ve been here twice previously for brunch and lunch but it was many years ago. Having tried dinner, I was immediately blown away from the service, beer selection, and delicacy of the dishes. Not to mention my table mates were all astounded by the portion size of each of our meals! The service was excellent, I wasn’t able to math how much I appreciated our lovely server, Devon, but she was such a gem and always prompt to check in if we needed anything. We are already thinking of our next time back for the other dishes!
Had a nice time here with friends - both service and food was great. Although pricey, the food presentation and quality made it worth it for a special occasion.
I have loved this place in the past, specifically with regards to their mussels. This time I came for Dine Out Vancouver and was a little disappointed with their dinner. The squash pork belly I had was luke warm and underwhelming and unfortunately the flavour of mussels I ordered this time around was a bit bland but perhaps thats because of the chive (or some herb along that line) flavour I picked.
Service
Waited 40 minutes for my drink, wrong drink delivered, and had the server lie to me. I don’t spend this much money at a restaurant to be treated so poorly. Terrible experience. Go somewhere else.
The cheese board here is quite fun to have and I would highly recommend it. It allows you to try some very strangely flavoured cheeses! The atmosphere is is very intimate and romantic. It’s a great place for brunch or dinner. I highly recommend one of their lattes with a waffle if you’re here during the day. They have a good ratatouille, but I wish they had more vegetarian options for me to try.
Back for the first time in a while. Food has always been good at Chambar and it's a nice room with good service. Mussels are a main staple and although I didn't have them they looked good. The other staple is Belgian beer which I did partake and it was good with a decent selection. Most other places are strictly local craft beers, but Chambar has a nice mix of local and Belgian with a decent wine selection also. Meals were good, but the complaint no doubt will be that some dishes can be quite modest (small) and the price is not. If you hit the right meals on the menu, you will feel good value/good quantity, but other dishes not so much. All said, I would recommend giving it a try.
One of the absolute best restaurants in town! Amazing brunch Great dinner Beautiful interiors and awesome service They are known for their mussles & waffles but I have had almost all items on the menu and they all have been great! They also participate in Dine out Vancouver which is great.
I've been here many times over the years, and Chambar never fails to impress! The food, the cocktails, the wine, and definitely the service ????????
The food was amazing!! Seriously good!! But our final impression of the place is a 2/5 (regardless how good the food was.) The energy we felt from the staff who were trying to get us out because we reached our time limit was uncomfortable. Yes we reached our 2 hour time limit, someone call the gang squad, we’re so bad! Here is a suggestion… how about you back off! Please don’t take our food away, and please do not talk to your coworker in French over us.. it’s rude. It really left a sour taste in my mouth and made my party feel uneasy and awkward. I understand the time limits during covid however the restrictions are now eased. Is it really necessary to make guests in your place of business feel like they are bad people getting kicked out? Let me finish my food at least. Chamber… Meh
We came here to try their dine out menu. The food and service overall was good, but my partner and I both felt that it wasn't that worth it for the price. There wasn't anything in particular about the dishes that stood out, or has blown us away. I think that last year’s dine out menu (excluding the dessert) was much better. Comparing to last year’s dine out menu, I wished that this year’s dine out menu had more options to upgrade your dishes. The steak knives were very dull. It was really frustrating trying to cut through the steak. Just my opinion, but I also think that the dining tables are small. Two tables would have been better, even for a party of 2. We were seated on the other side of the host area and the seating did not feel comfortable at all. Definitely felt squishy. Thankfully we were able to move tables. It was also cold inside.
At one time Chambar was an exceptional restaurant. Now it offers no better than average pub quality food. Had braised beef, crepe appetizer and pomme frites, which were overpriced.
Beautiful room, brunch was okay, mussels are great!
The food was good, portions smaller but decent size for a higher end restaurant. Great service. The noise level was acceptable and the ambiance very nice. A good place to have a romantic date.
I cannot say enough nice things about this place. First time there and we were treated amazing. One of the staff overheard it was our anniversary and the rest of the staff was sure to congratulate us which was entirely not expected and very heartwarming. Pilar was just fantastic. My boyfriend and I will absolutely be coming back if not for the stunning the food but for her service alone. Friendly, personable and made our night ever more special. Thank you!
Chambar has been my favourite restaurant in Vancouver for over five years! I eat out multiple times a week trying out new places. Let that sink in. The last visit included the Duo de Chevreuil, featuring a medium rare venison short loin & cannelloni, rapini, portobello mushroom, salsify and tomato sauce vierge. It was absolutely perfect. The drinks list here, oh my god - the best cocktails, an amazing wine list, and if you're into Belgian beer, you're in Vancouver heaven. The décor is upscale but the crowd is varied and mostly dressed informal. The service is near the top in Vancity. Brunch is also top-notch. Hurry, go now!
Amazing decor, great servers, fabulous food. Try to grab a seat near the back of the main floor. The mussles are as tasty as the people say.
This place is becoming one of my favorites. I love the ambient and their friendly and well-mannered staff. Food quality is good. There was a problem with my order, and although it was not their fault they gave us some free treats to make up for it. Highly Recommended.
We went for brunch at the recommendation of the hotel concierge. We were quickly seated, and our service was good. The waffles with salted caramel sauce were amazing, and even the seasonal fruit was delicious. The only thing that we were less than thrilled with was the bacon, which was cubed and just kind of odd to eat.
Cocktails and mussels. This place is local fave for a reason. Their main dishes are sizable portion, we had a hard time finishing them. The dishes we had were French/ mediterranean style with North American portions. very flavorful with complex notes of taste. I kept the bluecheese that came with my cocktail and had them with my lamb shank. I love that combination. A must place to visit for a special occasion, or just being a foody.
It's a great place to go and get some brunch with friends and family. The food was amazing but the portions on some plates were uneven. The mix of cultures that they represent on the flavors of the dishes are just delightful. I put only four stars for the poor amount of food on some plates and for the service that we got, it wasn't the best.
Food and service were excellent. Nice atmosphere. Some brunch dishes have smaller portions than others, so beware! Otherwise, it was a lovely experience.
This was very easy to find.. the initial decor from outside to inside was beautiful, sleek design retro seating, a few booths and counters.. The greeting we received was nice but almost a little cold.. we were seated at the rear of the restaurant, comfortable leather seating. The waitress came over gave us menus and filled our water glasses.. after choosing to have the waffles on recommendations from previous reviews. I had the waffles with berry compote and another with bacon caramel, my partner also had waffles with bacon caramel and another with chocolate lavender. The waffles were light and fluffy and the toppings were flavourful and light.. (could put a little more lavender flavour in but very tasty) Overall a good experience came across a little pretentious in places... the blonde lady who served us wearing a mustard color jumper was very nice and accommodating...
Excellent vibe and menu. Under current Covid rules capacity has been reduced and environment feels very safe and comfortable. Nice place for brunch, cocktails and dinner. Reasonable prices and lovely presentation.
Service
Chambar is my go to brunch place with great service, vibe and amazing Belgian food. Must try are their burger, mussels and waffles!
Had our anniversary dinner here - great experience! High quality of service, and the staff takes care to help you experience their dishes fully. We particularly appreciated the bison tartare and the duck and gnocchi dish. As others have said, great beer list! However, be sure to annunciate clearly when ordering, as I ordered a wheat beer but was brought a dark ale from the same brewer by mistake. Overall, a lovely night! I appreciated the leisurely pace of the meal - you won't feel rushed here at all.
I love this restaurant for brunch. Beautiful space, great service and the food is deeeeeeliiiiiicious. Have the Fricasse if you are hungry. Try to lavender latte (you can sub for oat milk). And the sour dough bread - yum!
Love Chambar for dinner and have been many times... I never knew they were even open for breakfast so did not know what to expect. Food was excellent - a unique presentation and very delicious. Only gripe is that it seems strange to be open for breakfast but not open your doors until 8am... I had an 8am breakfast meeting and showed up 20 minutes early. Doors were locked and didn't open until just past 8am.
The food is phenomenal! The service is sometimes inconsistent but usually very good. I love going there during the dine out menu! This year (2018) I had the foie gras, Arctic char and the cheese plate. They did not disappoint!
Went here for the first time for dinner on Saturday and loved it. The service was wonderful, the cocktails delicious and the food was very tasty. I was very impressed with our waitress as well. I'll definitely be back.
Visited for happy hour couple of months ago and had their signature menu, bacon cream mussels. The food was great but the best was their Belgian beer with Elephant picture on the bottle. The only one minus point was 3 different servers (or manager) kept coming to ask for same questions and eventually two of them messed up our orders which was a bit annoying. Definitely would come back tho.
Meal type
Excellent place. We went for dinner and we had a great time. The menu is diverse and they have a great beer selection. They served us in a timely manner and the staff was really polite and friendly.
Service
As everyone else mentioned, the mussel dish is the best. The dessert is superior to all other dessert I have tried.
Love this place! So much more than you might think. The menu is superb, as is the staff, price, decor, architecture, and music. This is our new favourite place. Thank you!!
Enjoyed the moules frites and waffle. The waiter was nice and attentive. Will definitely visit again.
I think this is my favourite place on Vancouver. I went for brunch, which was excellent on top of great service. Noticed they had an excellent beer list so decided to come back later in the day to sample it....absolutely sublime! Staff are great, venue is incredible and the person doing the interior design deserves an award. I'll be back!
Went there for breakfast and even though the place was nearly empty (which should have been my first clue since there was a line waiting to get in Jam next door) the service here was unbearably slow. To make matters worse, the food (despite being $25) was not great. I had steak and eggs. The steak was tough and the eggs were over-cooked. If I am going to drop $45 on breakfast, I would hope it would be at least good. I wont ever be going back.
Great atmosphere. Good drinks and food
This is definitely one of the best places I've found. The food is fantastic and the beer list is one of the best I've come across for Belgian beers. The bartender knows what he's doing and was able to provide excellent beer recommendations. Would highly recommend this place for a date or to just casually grab dinner/drinks with a friend.
Great place for a date , Its Candle lit creating a very warm and cozy environment. Friendly servers, exceptional food with a diverse variety flavors and spices. The cocktails were spot on and the Dine Out option is highly recommended value for money ! Absolutely loved the place and will do definitely go back again soon. Oh the Carrot cake is a must try as well :)
Nice ambience and really great food! Tried their Belgian waffles with toppings and their lavender latte and it was so yummy!
Good beer selection. However lots of stuff they serve can be bought at liquors stores such as legacy. They do mark up beers a lot. The food here is great. Been here couple of times for brunch and dinner, it never fails to impress.
I showed up last minute along with a fairly large group. The hostess was very accommodating and managed to find us a place and kept the entire group together. I ordered the tuna albacore dish. The fish was served seared and came along lots of greens. The fish was top quality and is by far one of tastiest fish I've tried. It was however a little too spicy as a result of the side crust. The prices were reasonable. Other members of my group ordered a chicken dish which they did not like much. They do take a little extra time to sort out the billing.
Great food very good atmosphere right next to sky train. Service and staff are top notch! Any one liking to eat downtown has to try this place! Should book ahead because this place is popular because it's so good.
Fabulous spot, entirely deserving of all the accolades it has received here and elsewhere. My only experience was a weekend brunch, so I can't speak to dinner and evenings. I WILL say the list of Belgian beers is amazing! In any case, brunch was excellent! The waffles (fairly small--order accordingly) are great--authentic flavor and texture. The merguez and bacon were also fantastic. My only "complaint" is that juices could be chilled a bit more. Lovely decor and ambience; attentive and gracious service without being obsequious. Location is a bit odd within the broader Vancouver context, but well worth the effort to get there! Magnifique!
The food was fantastic, service was excellent. The vegan dessert, a coconut tonka custard, is probably the best vegan dessert I've ever had. I'd highly recommend, for both vegans and non-vegans!
We came here on a Sunday for brunch. There was a wonderful selection of dishes and traditional brunch items. We sat outside on the terrace. They offer mimosas and other cocktails as well as juice and coffee. We had the granola, fruit and yoghurt, the cassoulet and a few ordered waffles. Just be aware the waffles are somewhat small so if you are hungry you may want to order 2. The cassoulet was a wonderful mix of black eyed beans, fried egg, kale, sausage, chicken and chimichurri. It was very flavorful and light. The food came out in a timely manner and our server was very attentive.
Dine in
I used to come here often. Probably at least once a week. Lately though, I feel that the quality has slipped slightly. It’s still a great place to dine, but not quite as optimal as before. Prior to COVID, I would have given Chambar five stars without question. Today, for me, they hover between a four and a four and a half. Still great and worth a visit, especially if you’re from out of town.
The service was great, the food was disappointing. We got Bol Santé for brunch (limited vegetarian options to begin with). The only time I have food leftover on my plate is when I'm full and satisfied. I wouldn't say I'm an expert of Belgian inspired food but this palate was all over the place. The tofu and egg were the best part. This combo was salty, sour, tart, sweet and very dry. My fiance and both didnt finish our emails and ordered waffles instead.
I am big fan of Chambar for Brunch. I typicall go once every month to try the Paella. Nice Restaurant/ Nice Ambiance. Front Door staff could be a little more welcoming to clients.
Great food and the service here is attentive and polite. Had the waffles with white chocolate pistachio and raspberry rose water and chicken sausage with an egg. Waffles are the best I had so far. The sausage is also exceptional, I strongly recommend.
I come here every few months with my partner for date night or lunch and I've never been disappointed. We always try a new beer or wine when we're here and so far, we haven't eaten the same thing twice yet. I can honestly say that I can't recall a negative experience here. The staff, ambiance, and food are always on point and it's become one of my favourite restaurants
A really nice eating experience with great service. The food was tasty, particularly the yogurt and the mediterranean plate.
I attended a Vision Vancouver event here. It is a very nice place. The staff was very attentive and the appies were excellent.
Awesome restaurant. Food is delicious, great quality, well presented. Staff were super friendly and helpful. After waiting outside for a taxi for 30 minutes, the door staff invited me back in to wait, and then called the taxi company to hurry up. Thank you Chambar!
Meal type
Jam cafe who? Walk up 3 doors and you'll find this gem of a place with great brunch options. Reasonable prices for the quality of food, dont be put off by the more higher end establishment - you'd be surprised how comparable the pricing is. The atmosphere is lovely! Wait time is also reasonable, but make sure you reserve a spot - they get full fast then the wait list begins. Im not sure but Medina may be a sister restaurant - the menu list if almost identical. However the food here is much better quality and is larger in quantity
Nice discovery!! The breakfast was very good. Waffles with salted caramel and yogurt and granola. Staff very nice!
Had DineOut here in March earlier this year. Food was great, though the starters were best, mains second best, and desserts a little uninspired. So it kind of went downhill from the spectacular opening. Still, overall very good and excellent value. Service felt uninspired, bordering a little bored. We’d gotten engaged earlier in the day and were celebrating (which my fiancé had mentioned in the booking). We got a brief “Congratulations” but a celebratory glass of bubbles or extra sweet at the end would have been a nice gesture.
Brunch
Had the mussels and they were delicious and a huge serving. Large selection of alcoholic beverages and great staff.
Wow. Just super. Had the mussels congoliese. Amazing. Their beer list is phenomenal and well stocked with Belgian styles. Went for the steak and was not disappointed. Hip, modern feel with great service. 10/10. The empty plate WAS a steak, but it was that good. It's gone.
Ambience and service are great. But the food portion is small, expensive, and tasted average. Not sure if I’d pay for another visit. Overrated.
We had a great experience at chamber, the staff were super friendly, on top of refills and anything else we needed. The flavors in the dish were mouth watering amazing, I got the pork rib and egg (brunch menu) and was very surprised at the combination of flavors and how well they worked together. Their ceasers were also very tasty. I'm excited to go back and try the dinner menu
The food was really good, but our server (who we don't know the name, as he never introduced himself to us) was very unpleasant and not welcoming at all. We could see him welcoming other tables around us and being polite to other customers but not with us, a horrible service experience. At a certain point one of the servers mistakenly delivered our waffles to the table beside us and not only we saw him excusing to the couple on the side, and making sure it would be complimentary for them, he did not spend a minute to explain what happened to us nor to give us a mere excuse. It took them another 15 min to get our waffles, and again, no excuses or anything. We felt like we did not belong there. I have never, in my entire life, experienced anything like that.
Another great brunch experience. Im constantly amazed at how many fantastic restaurants we have in Vancouver. Waffles, amazing. Such a gourmet experience. Also the pork belly black rice was something to die for. Great vibe, friendly staff. Will definitely be coming back here. Check them out.
This is one of our favourite restaurants in Vancouver. The service is exceptional – we’ve never had a less than memorable experience. The food is delicious and unique every time. The drinks – particularly the beer list and housemade cocktails – are worth a visit on their own. A high recommendation!
The mussels and cocktails are superb. We have been here several times and we have always got great service. Highly recommend.
Elegant atmosphere. I had one of the best kriek beers I've ever had! Great service and delicious food.
Recently visited this place again. Mussels were good as always and I was surprized with their foie gras appetizer with French toast. It came with big piece of foie gras, soft French toast, jam, bread crumbs for added texture, and sherbet to refresh after each bite. Three of us liked this so much and this became my new favourite at Chambar.
Came to Chambar for brunch. Ordered the Talisman Pale Ale, which is an Amber beer. They have a pretty good selection of drinks available. I like how the menu is digital and separated into categories. Makes it easier for those dining in only for food, or only for drinks. We got the Paella and the La Saucisse. For the Paella, it was a different style of paella that I'm normally used to. The rice they use was a bit different from other Paella I've had. But overall it was good. The cornbread in the other dish was fantastic. I truly enjoyed it. The waffles was pretty standard from other places. For the ambience of the restaurant, it's fairly upscale and has a fancy bar. Would be a good location for a drink and have a nice meal. Shoutout to their staff Kaya. She was very friendly and accommodating since we needed to rush out to catch a flight. Overall I will recommend for you to visit this restaurant for your brunch, dinner or drink destination.
Amazing beer selection, tap and bottles. Their charcuterie with half meat and half cheese, and their mussels are just amazing. Their portions are large and their service has always been wonderful. Would highly recommend this place to just casually grab dinner/drinks with a friend.
Dinner
Pasta with sundried tomatoe ricotta cheese and asparagus... was really good. The iced tea was an iced earl gray tea (i think) which was unusual.
Meal type
The restaurant was beautiful and the vibe was refined but laid back chill. All staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Food was good.
Is the line at Jam Cafe too long? Then try this place for a good alternative. Even if there is no line at Cafe Jam this is a good choice. They have nice indoor seating and even nicer outdoor patio seating with regular tables or couches if you prefer. Had a nice coffee and also a fresh waffle. You can get them with all sorts of toppings like chocolate sauce though I tried one with an orange marmalade. Yummy. Also had a paella which came in a hot iron skillet with veggies and an egg served on top of rice. It also was good and seemed very popular. Lots of iron skillets were coming out of the kitchen. Very relaxing atmosphere and no wait.
I don't typically care for waffles but our original destination had a line out the door and my friend had to head back to the States. We thought we "settled" for Chambar but we were wrong. I had a mixed berry and a fig orange marmalade waffle, fresh fruit and we split maple glazed bacon. Everything looked beautiful and tasted even better. I'm not a bacon fan but living in the states we don't do bacon this way but we should, this bacon was superb. Our server was also exceptional, I wish I remembered her name. Staff in general were very helpful and friendly. I will be back next time I'm in town
Delicious brunch! Had a seasonal omelette which was the perfect texture and how these deliciously cooked mushrooms. Also tried a waffle with chocolate lavender sauce. I wish I'd ordered a couple waffles to go as well. Seating is a little tight for COVID and no barriers between tables. May not be everyone's comfort level. Checked everyone's vaccine status. Thank you!
great brunch without the line. service can be hit or miss.
We sat at the bar to begin with you Friday night and have the muscles that were great. We then move to a table and ordered our maina. No one came to check on them if they did I would have said my steak was chewy and undercooked. I figured I could just eat around it by the time somebody can we check on it I would just ask to have it cooked up but no one came about 20 minutes later someone came to clear food all the steak was still there but they didn't even ask why I didn't eat it by than i was just so annoyed I just wanted to leave. the only reason I'm not giving it a one-star is because the bartender in the muscles were great.
Nice and friendly service. The food was ok, I expected it to be very unique and extraordinary because of the reviews and the price. But I was not impressed.
I love coming here for a breakfast or some good coffee and waffles. Due to this place being very spacious there's almost always no wait and you can make reservations unlike a lot of places in Vancouver where you have to stand in a line. (Personally I will not stand in line to pay someone money no matter how good your jam claims to be.) The interior is stunning with red brick and beautiful light fixtures. They also have a nice private patio. The staff are always fun people with style. Their lunch and dinner dishes are to die for too. All around well organized, clean and cozy place to go. A beautiful experience every time.
I love the service here, and last night was no different. Effortlessly attentive without being over the top. Knowledgeable and helpful. Made it a perfect special meal for our anniversary. The food was delectable. The bone broth my pork belly / chorizo was in, had me scrapping the bowl to get the last bite. We got a half litre of Spanish wine which was reasonably priced and they have a great selection of wines which you can do this with if you don’t feel like the full bottle. We’ll be back!
amazing ambiance and food, would definitely recommend and the service is outstanding
Dine in
A great dine-out experience! Every item that we ordered off the dine-out menu was amazing! The restaurant was quite busy, but I can see why as the atmosphere and the food was delicious! I ordered the fois gras for the appetizer and the mussels in white wine sauce as my main. I’d definitely order them both again!
Great bartenders and cocktails not to mention the awesome food!
Very little fault to find in this place. Just about the most efficient and welcoming restaurant I have ever been to. Spectacular Belgian beer selection and wine list is great too. Veg dish choice appears to be improving. One of our favorites!
This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Vancouver. Got to try the scallops, the ribeye steak, the carrot cake and the chocolate noir and I highly recommend everything! They offer a lot of gluten free options and the service is fantastic.
The most consistent restaurant in Vancouver. I have gone several times over the last four years that I have lived here and I have never encountered a lackluster meal. Brunch or dinner. Great ambiance as well.
Brunch is delicious. Waffles are tasty. The steak I had, while small, had a great smoky taste! The dsrk hot chocolate was good and not too sweet but I'd say not dark enough. Service was really good too. The location of the restaurant is great and the decor inside is pretty nice. Just be sure to have a reservation as they can get really busy.
There is a multitude of culinary delights at this establishment. From there great selection of craft beer two well-appointed cocktails. The space absolutely delightful thought through from top to bottom. Gray bathrooms friendly stop delightful food I found the menu a little confusing wow they really brought it home with a true culinary delight. This establishment is a real winner
I have been enjoying the food at Chambar for many years and it never fails to impress. The restaurant is large but warm and inviting and well appointed. But it is the food that is the star. Dining with 3 other women, we chose to share a selection of dishes to share - prawns with charred peppers and croutons, scallops with taro chips, halloumi flatbread and, of course, crispy fries. The desserts are delectable - cheese cake, sticky toffee pudding and gelato. The dining room is frequented by the formal and casual alike - anything goes! A popular destination for sports fans as it is minutes from Rogers Arena and B.C. Place where many sports events take place.
Food is good but not worth the horrible service experience. Terrible service experience being rushed out of our seat under an hour into our lunch meal to make way for other guests. Pushy waitstress. 18 completely empty tables in the room at the time we were asked to leave. Complained to the staff. Seems they've just been told to tell guests blindly. Hadn't even finished ordering. Ordered a waffle and took my time finishing my meal with company. 40 minutes later still 17 empty tables. Left with a bad taste in my mouth. Been eating and bringing guests here for years. Happy to take business elsewhere.
Beautiful restaurant. Busy and a nice option for brunch for a somewhat unique menu. I found the waffles were a bit dense and lacking flavour. The paella was flavourful but it was more just orzo with chorizo, didn't really come across as a paella. Food was very filling and heavy/oily. Coffee was good. Server was nice.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Can be loud if you have hearing issues. Outdoor patio is a great option. Brunch and mussels are my favorites!
Great restaurant. Amazing list of over 100 Belgian beers. Food was also fantastic with choices like duck gnocchi, calamari stuffed with venison or wild boar belly with elk sausage. Definitely worth a try if you’re in Vancouver. (Not the cheapest place in the city but worth every penny...)
Food was absoulutely delicious! The service was amazing and the overall atmostphere of the restaurant was great.
Beautiful atmosphere, very knowledgeable and efficient staff but the food left something to be desired. It was beautifully presented and high quality, there just wasn’t quite the ‘wow’ factor we had hoped for at such a highly reviewed restaurant. The beet carpaccio appy was excellent. The braised lamb shank was fall off the bone tender and smelled amazing but the flavour didn’t live up to the first impressions. The duck breast was well cooked, but again the overall dish just didn’t have that much flavour. A good meal but not great in comparison to other high end restaurants around town.
Great cuisine with a great staff . Fantastic restaurant
A lot of flavors to try here on the brunch menu. The Gaufre au Saumon came with a savory waffle, yuzu dill hollandaise, fresh pea tips and an “Ocean Wise” rating by the Vancouver Aquarium as an “ocean-friendly seafood choice”.
I think maybe they have the best spicy Ceasar in town. Come for their breakfast! Edit: I believe they owe the public the Paella recipe that they recently took off the menu. Or perhaps a recipe book?
Such a beautiful restaurant and delicious food. Albacore tuna and arctic char were the star of the show! The short rib was so tender it just fell apart, so good! I thought the bison appetizer had too much whole peppercorn but was fine otherwise. The warm sticky toffee crème caramel so delicious, on the sweeter side but was such a nice way to end off the evening.
Loved it????????????????...Cool chill vibe. Great food...Order a Cesar ????????
The food and servers were great. But I can’t shake off the negative feeling I got when we were seated at the worst table in the house when the restaurant was not full and when we had reservations. Customers of the same party size (2) who came after us were given better seats. Our seat was right on the other side of the host area. Sometimes the host would be cleaning or writing something on the partition between us and it felt like they were hovering over us.... During a pandemic... When we were eating.
Amazing breakfast place! But has limited vegan options! Great waffles!
Great restaurant for a special occasion with fair prices and amazing dishes. For drinks, the Lind’s Lemonade is wonderful, totally recommended. Cocktails are tasty and the service is great. Definitely gonna come back and try more options. You should go and give it a chance ????
Paella was nice, waffle with milk chocolate lavender very nice, good serving sizes both. Parking is ok, whatever. Interior is very nice, also clean. Washroom is a dungeon, much under-lit. Server guy (husky) moves at a glacial mental pace, took 45 min to take our orders for brunch, 15 min to get his attention to produce our bills and 10 min to remove the last dirty dishes off the table. Our brunch took 2 hours. There were 8 other guests in the area downstairs. He must have been overwhelmed with effort. We didn’t mind not being rushed and enjoyed his entertaining persona. He tipped over the ice bucket in his spare time, others cleaned it up for him. Later tried to scrape and wash dirt off his clothes facing the dining area because I guess it’s better than changing again at the back and being actually clean. Later yet again we heard a loud lesson on why this French restaurant does not have ketchup. He is a colorful character, fits in well with the theme of ‘unskilled ex-convict at work’ ambiance, not sure though if that is the intended business model. It’s endearing though.
Dinner
Our server at dinner the night before recommended we grab breakfast here. We ordered a couple waffles to start with chocolate and raspberry & caramel toppings. We decided that combining the sauces was the best way to go. The waffles were soft and sweet despite being small (sometimes small waffles get too crispy). We ordered the omelet of the day that had goat cheese and Brussel sprouts on it. I never would have thought to put goat cheese on sprouts then put it on an omelet but I'm glad they did! Wow! It was so delicious. The lavender latte was amazing. I don't generally like lavender drinks but this was perfectly balanced, not overwhelming like others that smell/taste like bubble bath. My husband had a coffee/bourbon drink that was also very good. It was really hard for us not to go back later for more waffles. We will return next time we are in town, though!
Service
Great food. Had the waffles with white chocolate pistachio and raspberry rose water and chicken sausage with an egg. Waffles are the best I had so far. It's pricey but worth it.
Great food, ambience and service!
Always a spectacular culinary experience, this is my go-to for birthdays, anniversaries or any occasion worth celebrating. The staff are impeccably detail oriented, and even with a full house, always maintains a courteous demeanor. The atmospheres and interiors are stunning, and the food is even more so. Their mussels congolaise is a MUST HAVE, in addition to their bountiful selection of import beer. Can't go wrong with any choice.
Service ***** Food ***** Ambience ***** Only thing I was not happy about was I ordered 2 whisky sours (not on the menu), 1st one was really good and the 2nd one wasn't the same and missing ingredients (maybe made by 2 different people?). My girlfriends and I had such an amazing time so thank you Chambar! ???? Will definitely come back!
Service
great place for brunch, many choices on the Manu and yummy foods, servers are pretty nice and helpful.
Exceptional service. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Chambar. They really made the night special for us. Also, great variety in Belgian beer!
Love enjoying the food scene in others places. Especially other countries. Atmosphere was very much in line with , bothe bar choices and food menu. Service was attentive and informative. Had the mussels. Great flavor and fresh. Very generous portions, had to take some home. High on my list to comeback and try again.
I really enjoyed this restaurant. Had a great vibe to it. Service staff were really friendly as well. I had the mussels, man o man it was good. Had some filo dough stuffed with ricotta cheese, these were delicious.
Great service, knowledgeable staff. We went here for my work Christmas party and had a great evening out with the girls! Cocktails were tasty and original, food was fresh and beautifully plated.

Great plate, amazing food! Must go in Vancouver! Loved everything!
Holy moly this place was good. I had the mussels in a tomato sauce. The portions were large, the food was great, and the service was wonderful. The beer and drink selection was better than I've seen in a while. Highly recommended! Thank you!
This is a must stop for excellent food, drinks and service!! It’s something different & fun. Say hello to Conor at the bar & he’ll take great care of you. Happy may be his middle name. Oh, and gotta try the waffles for an app & desert!!
Great wine selection. We went with a bottle of Amalaya. Very aromatic and had sweet notes. Beautiful patio. Absolutely loved the Mussels - Congolaise flavor. They have a spicy kick but the soup is so delicious. Even the fries it comes with were perfect. This is a perfect share platter. The portion was great! The lamb was cooked so well, very tender and juicy but flavor was underwhelming to be honest. I would get the mussels again but not the lamb. The Harrisa sauce and raita were also not worth adding at all. Have tasted much better elsewhere.
I have eaten here several times and can vouch for all of their Moul Frits. The traditional Champaign is my dish of choice.
Dinner
My favourite restaurant in all of Vancouver, hands down. You can taste the quality in the ingredients and can tell they have experienced chefs in the kitchen. Staff is great too and very attentive. Will forever be my favourite! ❤️
Good food but ugly interior design that reminds one of a diner; no air conditioning even in hot summer weather
This is very taster food and really must visit at least once in your life. I never expect innovation in boiled eggs along with small bites of variety of tasty dipping and bread bites. My wife -for first time ever- had the egg and beef breakfast, it was not heavy at all and the taste is right for morning. Kids had smoked meal which lots taste in it Now, I am coffee taster and I had ONE OF THE BEST latte, lavender syrup house made. I saw lots of people ordering it and so I did. It was a bit sugary, but never tasted something like it. Went again just for the latter ;)
A beautiful and tasteful restaurant with exceptionally professional staff. Excellent beer & wine selection where once again the knowledge of the staff on menu items cannot be faulted. On both visits I was blown away by entrees but slightly underwhelmed by my mains. Bring something warm because it is FREEZING inside.
Food tastes fine, but extremely overpriced for the portion sizes you get. The atmosphere is decent, but there are much better options in the area. Not bad but nothing special. Not sure what all the hype is about.
The ambience is nice and intimate and the food keeps me coming back! I have been here for brunch and dinner and both menus are expansive. The mussels are the best in town and they converted me into liking carrot cake because it was made so well. The only dish that was disappointing was the Bouillon de Chasse, which featured pheasant dumplings that were on the plainer side.
Came here for brunch. Great ambiance and decor. I like that they take reservations unlike many other brunch places that make you you wait one hour plus. Ordered the braised short ribs and waffle with milk chocolate lavender. Waffle was on point. Light and fluffy. Short ribs was on the saltier side but still enjoyed it nonetheless.
Beautiful entree and mains - thanks for having us! Meat cooked to perfection and the risotto was amazing!
This is my go-to restaurant when I visit Vancouver for a concert or a sporting event at Rogers Place. The food is consistently good, with a Moroccan flare. I had the gin martini with blue cheese (the Chambar signature drink) and this was an amazing way to start the dinner. The Pot au Feu was excellent, and the tagine next to us smelled very authentic to me. My friend had the duck and was very impressed. All food I've had here has been great. A must-visit restaurant. Oh, and the service is top notch with all servers being very well-versed in food pairings with wine, and menu recommendations.
I've eaten at Chambar a number of times and the food is phenomenal. I was recently planning on doing an event with Chambar. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic restrictions being extended, we had to cancel that event. I wanted to post here about how wonderful Milana and the Chambar team was to work with. They were extremely accommodating, flexible, and communicative and I would recommend the experience to anyone.
For all the stars and reviews, I was not impressed. Their coffee was the best part (from 49th parallel). The server was also quite nice. Otherwise, our brunch was underwhelming and overpriced. They get overflow from people who can't get into Jam. Maybe if I came for another meal instead of brunch, I'd be more impressed. Not a wide selection of food either.
Excellent place for a modestly priced high end dinner. The food is extremely affordable and tastes just as good as a $$$$ restaurant. The service is outstanding. Will be coming again for sure. The wife enjoyed the selection of wine as well.
Dinner
Lunch
Where do I start?! The drinks were delicious! The food was mouth watering! The service was impeccable! The atmosphere was BIG VIBES! As we were having our dinner we were already looking at their brunch menu to plan our next visit here. You have to try the Crêpe Marocaine the flavours were mind blowing.
Very nice place. Their selection of food is very good. Selection of the Belgian beer is great too. Yes, it is pretty expensive, but the level of interior, service, and kitchen is great, so it is definitely worth to visit. They portions are pretty big as well.
I cannot believe it myself that I have been enjoying Chambar for close to two decades now. I have many good memories in this restaurant. Chambar has good ambience, delicious food, and a great selection of Belgian and international beer, and I should not forget to mention its friendly staff. Very good job Nico Schuermans and team. Cheers!
Cocktails and mussels are a must. Take a seat at the bar and the bartenders were very welcoming, knowledgeable, and provided great suggestions.
Been here many times over the years. I have yet to have a meal where I have been disappointed
Meal type
I’ve done brunch, lunch, dinner, and drinks at Chambar and each time it’s been lovely. The space is great and the staff friendly. For beer lovers you will find a large beer selection.
Food was very good, although some of the brunch items are a little light, and weren't quite filling enough for some in our party. L'Omelette aux Champignons had good flavor, but was a little small. I had Le Burger du Chasseur, but it had beets on it this time. It was phenomenal. Two of us also had a waffle on the side, and particularly enjoyed the Fig Orange Marmalade.
I had lunch here today on the patio.I ordered a burger with an arugula salad, nice presentation paired with an interesting flavour profile. The atmosphere was relaxing. Ruby my server was friendly and attentive. The manager was very welcoming and accomdating. It was a really nice experience on a busy day. Thank you, I'll definitely be back soon!
Great service great food but reservations needed.
We came here for a birthday party, the venue is beautiful but the food for the price felt average... Their set dinner menu was $75 per head and that does not include wine pairings. The options on the menu were ok, sadly the one interesting main of lamb ran out after only 6 people ordered. The other choices felt bland and unoriginal, fish or steak anyone? I had the fish and ate the closest to raw brussels sprouts you can get while still cooking them, it was hard to get them on your fork in the first place. The service was good, but when you HAVE to pay 18% tip you expect that. With taxes and mandatory tipping this place just wasn't worth it. I won't come again nor recommend to friends. You can get a very similar meal for a fraction of the cost at many other fine establishments in the city.
First time here and loved it. It was our anniversary but we kept it quiet because we were not after any special treatment/freebies. Our server Alicja was amazing. She knew how to read our needs, by giving us time to enjoy our cocktails, courses and wine without feeling rushed, but still being attentive. Food was delicious, especially the sirloin and char. If any feedback, carpaccio was a bit thick, and strawberry pastry dessert was a bit sour/bland. But the overall experience and wonderful service will have us back for sure. Thanks to Alicja, Michael and the Chambar team.
Yummy food is good hospitality is also very good, great atmosphere, prices are also quite affordable.
Food was amazing. Service was excellent. Very limited vegetarian options. Beautiful interior.
Outstanding! I have nothing but good things to say about this place - the atmosphere and decor, the exceptionally friendly and attentive service, the delicious and creative food - this is a must try. If you're going during busier periods, you're better off making a reservation. I arrived at 6:00pm on Saturday with a reservation, and while it was quiet-ish at that point, the dining area downstairs was completely full by 7. I had their Veal-stuffed Calamari, the Vin Blanc mussels, the Canard et Gnocchi, and the Biscut au lait for dessert. While I wouldn't necessarily go for the calamari again - while the cilantro and aioli were flavorful, the overall effect was somewhat bland - the Mussels and Duck were exceptional. The duck, particularly, was so tender and had so many terrific flavors, what with the apple and celery salad and goat cheese. The Biscuit au lait was an excellent finisher, with a warm, velvety chocolate sauce and a deliciously salted biscuit - I just wish the biscuit portion was bigger! As I mentioned above, the service was top notch - my water was never less than half empty, and our waitress did a great job explaining some of the options on the menu and making recommendations. To give you an idea of price, for two people, with four drinks and the four courses, before tip, came out to about $150 after tax. Considering the overall quality, I would say it's well worth it
I usually like to come here with girlfriends for brunch, even celebrated my birthday at Chambar last year. However, when my husband and I went there for a late dinner after opera last Saturday, we had the worst experience ever! The waitress was rude and racist. We ended up leaving without ordering anything. Will never go back there again.
amazing Bloody Mary ,super tasty ,the salt and pepper totally wake you up after one sip. Cassoulet was awesome ,chicken sausage and the beans so good.would love to back here again someday
What a great place to eat! Obviously, have some mussels! They’re to die for! They make a unique old fashioned. It’s pretty tasty. There are many great menu items, we all shared between 6 of us. The last time we went, the service was a bit off, and the server also seemed to misunderstand a couple of requests from our table, but in all, she was very friendly, and nice. Very enjoyable experience, all around.
Food was mediocre. The mussel dish and duck main dish were the best. No one in our group could eat the lamb dish cause of such strong mint and other scent when we usually enjoy lamb dishes elsewhere.
My favourite restaurant so far in Vancouver. The inside feels modern and vintage. The food us amazing. Get mussels and the duck!
What a wonderful experience. The Calamars Farcis and the Mille Feuille de Canard were spectacular dishes full of delightful flavours. Would highly recommend if looking for a special, unique restaurant with excellent service.
We ordered a nice bottle of rose with brunch and the servicer knocked over my entire glass of champagne all over my shirt and pants. I was nice about it so she wouldn't feel bad. I expected they would probably make it right by taking care of our meal or at least the bottle of champagne. But instead they dropped me off the managers card and told me I could go and get my stuff dry cleaned (what an inconvenience!) and they would take care of it, and took off the $3.50 waffle from our bill. They didn't even fill my glass back up for me. Very disappointed and actually still in shock at the lack of customer service. I guess I should have made a big deal about a full glass of champagne all over my outfit ! And paying full price for a bottle of champagne minus a glass, like totally ridiculous.
Drinks were great, the staff were great, and the ambiance was great. The food though, was not. Of the four dishes we got, only 2 were okay. The dishes seemed confused, with a fusion of tastes that did not seem to complement each other. And I was hoping to see some Belgian roots, but that was not the case.
The brunch here was lovely. The fresh waffles were amazing - they were warm and soft and a must try! The portions here are also quite good - the fruitand yoghurt was way larger than I expected. There is a good selection of breakfast/brunch food here. This place is quite popular so I would recommend booking in advance if you don't want to wait.
Lovely place with a nice ambience. I would advise the Biscuit au Lait for dessert (the chocolate mousse was not that good). The service was good and the food was very nice and filling What i did not like about the place that the music was a bit loud. The lighting was too dim for a busy loud place like that. It is more suitable to a romantic quiet place but not Chambar.
Walked in no reservation. Staff is beautiful and welcoming. Food is worth the experience. On the way to a hockey game, great choice for a quick quality bite to eat. And a drink menu of unique variety with some authentic flavour ???? Got some seats downstairs by the kitchen, those cooks know how to move and make a meal. Ordered the Cannard et Gnocchi, delicious. Lots of smiles and plates full of flavour.
Highly rated so decided to try for an anniversary.lunch. ordered.the venison burger and was terribly disappointed. Nothing like the menu description. Worst of all was the beetroot in it when there is no mention of that in the menu ( and I hate beetroot!!) The moule et frites were plentiful and very good, as one would expect.for $29. The waffle dessert was obviously not freshly made, very leathery, though the fig and orange marmalade was delicious. Service was good, wine was expensive. $115 for the 2 of us with taxes and tip. Probably will not return
Amazing food. Honestly, one of the best foodie spots in Vancouver and great pricepoint.
Highlight: Great decor, great tasting food, very friendly staff. Complaints: Relatively slow serving speed, and mouse running in the patio :( Background: I took my girlfriend there for dinner on her birthday, we ordered the tasting menu. It took more than one hour for our first course to be served after we put in our order. The pace gets picked up after and we got a special treat as well. Food was delicious, and I highly recommend the duck dish. The inside decor of this restaurant is romantic, the outdoor patio is also cute. Servers are very attentive and friendly, helped me put a candle on the dessert course. We had a seat right beside the window looking into the patio, and we saw at least 3 mouse running around from time to time. Although they do look cute but I don't think that's a good sign for the restaurant.
Food is always superb here. Been here for both brunch and dinner always good! Be prepared to wait in line if you don't have a reso for brunch, I would suggest making a reso. The waffles and sauces they are accompanied by are super yummy and not too big. They have a cute little waffle station too! They have vegetarian options along with dairy free and vegan options for coffees. Nice ambiance.
Attended for a office party. Front door staff is impeccable. Food was very good on the whole: they served a mushroom foccachia thing as an hors d'oeuvre that was out of this world! The goat cheese egg roll was also very good. The foie gras with jam was OK. For second course, ordered Chicago steak medallions with onion rings, nuts, aioli, & sweetened mushrooms (which thru the taste off a bit but it was done perfectly), & a seared ahi tuna with tabouli & babaganoosh which was excellent. For main, ordered mussels in tomato coconut lime chilli broth which was OK, much spicier than anticipated & was tantamount to eating a very hot salsa; as well as a lamb tagine with honey, cinnamon, figs, & couscous which was pretty good Dessert was a fluffy caramel cake with chantilly cream which was delicious. Service varied from very discreet to slightly overbearing LOL On the whole tho they are very good. Bathrooms need more frequent tending. The only suggestion I would make is if you're planning a party there to not have it downstairs if possible, as the low ceiling creates a crazy loud acoustic effect that made hearing anything short of yelling very difficult. I admit I am sensitive to loud crowd noise, but I heard a few ppl comment on it, so it wasn't just me. That said, would recommend if you're planning a party with a high end prix fixe menu.
Very friendly staff. We went during the interlude menu between lunch and dinner which ends at 5pm (it's a smaller menu during this time). We got the charcuterie board and three beers and with a 15% tip it came to $52.79. It was a good appy for two people if you arent super hungry, we left feeling full!
So many of my colleagues raved about this place so I decided to try it out the other day! I was excited as I love mussels and they have a really great happy hour deal. Unfortunately though, I didn't have the best experience. The mussels were average at best. The service was also some of the worst service I've experienced in awhile. The server was extremely inattentive (didn't do quality check, didn't fill us up with water) and was just very cold. He even gave us a weird look when we asked him for the check? I don't think I'll ever return, if the mussels weren't half off, I would have been extremely disappointed.
Very nice place and food. All is perfectly done. Friendly crew and amazing waffles.
Dinner
This is one of the best restaurants in Vancouver. It is consistently amazing and the service is top notch. Fantastic staff. I ate one of the best meals I've ever eaten here. The wild boar with bone broth. The flavours were so varied and work together to create an incredible dining experience. I've always liked Chambar. It has never disappointed. Also the cocktails are excellent.
Food and service was amazing! They do fresh pressed juices everyday and the waffle flavors are unique and delicious. A little pricey, but worth the money. Also, a very nice place to come for coffee and lattes!
Wow! Chambar Restaurant never disappoints even in an apocalypse! They are open for take out and Delivery and its every bit as delicious as when you eat in their Restaurant. We got take out and ate it in the park watching the sunset. <3
Had a wonderful breakfast here, served by extremely friendly and seemingly happy staff! Our waitress was attentive and we had multiple people come check in on us throughout our meal. The omelette and the Bon Matin are wonderful. There aren’t any run-of-the-mill breakfast items, so maybe not a great spot for little kids, but if you’re interested in a delicious unique breakfast, this is the spot. Skip the line at Jam Cafe and come here!
Loved the food to the core! Had their charcuterie with half meat and half cheese. The lamb shank is very well done and the preserved lemon adds just the perfect citrus flavour to the Arctic Char. The wine collection is very decent. Great service and very romantic ambiance. Loved the place! 10/10 would recommend ????????
Food quality is excellent. The combinations and flavours all make sense and aren’t too overboard or trying too hard. Ambiance is also excellent with a cute patio and nice decor inside. Staff are lovely and service overall is attentive and polite. We dined here during the heat wave outside with a toddler and they were super accommodating and quick to address our needs. Highly recommend this spot!
Excellent place just menu of food it quite simple and menu for beers is like anything! Best scallops and Kwak beer and mussels is what you come for
Came just for the waffles and they didn't disappoint! Salted caramel sauce was amazing!
My old stomping ground, still love to come and have a drink or dinner here. Don’t forget their breakfast is really good too! Fancy cute romantic are my impressions, and I’ve always had good service/food here. One of the must-go restaurants in Vancouver!
Dinner
Had the bisque and it was pretty tasty. Also had the Tuna as my main and I was disappointed. The dish had no focus, a strange mishmash of conflicting flavours. Don't recommend it.
Deeeelicious cocktails!! Best moules frites in town. Perfect date night ambiance without ripping your wallet.
Amazing food, and even better service. One of my better restaurant experiences.
Meal type
Went for dine out, food was delicious, nice atmosphere. Service could have been better. Overall good experience. Will be back again.
Now I know why this restaurant is famous. The food and service were excellent, so I overeat and over drank ;) It was a nice dinner. I will definitely visit again!!!
it s a fancy and beautiful restaurant. However we had hard time to figure out what to eat as I m a vegetarian and the menu was in French with some English details. we asked our server for help and recommendation but, he was new and some of his information about the food and drink you serve was wrong! we ended up with the wrong food and drink but we didn't want to wait again so we ate what he served, it teste good no complain for the quality of the food but my suggestion is to provide Some more training for new staff and use the vegetarian symbol in the menu.
Delicious food with cocktails specifically chosen for us at our table. Foraged mushroom risotto main and a flank steak main. Croquette and vin blanc mussels and foie Gras
Really, really delicious brunch and the servers were super accommodating. I didn’t catch the name of our waiter (but he was from Quebec) as I’d like to give him a special shout out for being so lovely to us.
The great thing about this place is that you can actually reserve a table for brunch. I went on a Sunday and it was very busy. It’s good that they have 2 levels so they can accommodate a lot of tables. I thought that the food was good but it was not mind blowing from what I ordered. The food was good, the bread too, which is not the case everywhere. I liked that they had unique flavors for the sauce for the waffles and for some of the hot drinks. The orange fig jam that came with my waffle was delicious. I found the service a bit slow. Nice place to go for brunch.
Chambar is a very good restaurant for unique dishes and flavours, friendly service, and an extensive drinks menu. The decor is nice and 'modern.' Some tables feel very close to others (crowded), but not a deal breaker. It would be a nice place to come with a few friends for drinks and food. Overall a great experience and definitely recommend.
Dinner
Holy amazing food batman! The service was great, the food fantastic, I can't say enough good things
went for brunch in Chambar, food was merely okay. Thought I was in IHOP for a sec. Place is pretty though, patio looks charming.
ChambarGuests Wifi available For parties of 5 or more you need to leave a credit card number when making a reservation Ordered two calamari, two mussels and frites, lamb shank and duck Food was delicious and all 6 of us were full Our server provided great drink recommendations and it was a great experience, would come back!
Good environment and service, fair food.
Went for my birthday during Dine Out Vancouver. They were accommodating to a modification request when the menu changed slightly from the initial booking. My appies and dessert were really great but my main (gnocchi) was very dense and bland. My hubby enjoyed his steak. We were sat at the front of the restaurant and it was a bit more casual than the back half. Overall cool ambiance. Dedicated mocktails were great, especially since I've had a hard time finding some while pregnant and feeling included.
Went here for Valentine's Day and the food and service were excellent. Each dish was presented very nicely and tasted great. Perfect place for a date night or special occasions!
Atmosphere and service was very good. The food was more Moroccan then Belgium influenced. Large portions. Had the flatbread, short rib, lamb and pistachio ice cream.
Absolutely fantastic! Brunch was good but the coffee was some of the best we had while in Vancouver! Perfect micro-foam for lavender lattes and cappacinos. Coffee was so tasty! I love when baristas know what they’re doing. Perfect texture, temp, and balanced espresso. Nice to find a place offering good coffee like what we have in Australia.
Dine in
This was an amazing meal. We had the braised short rib brunch item, it pulled apart beautifully. Also theyre ceasers are fantastic (on the pricey side though). And the waffles go great with the milk chocolate lavendar sauce and white chocolate pistachio rose water sauce. This was a great experience, great service, nice atmosphere and delicious food. A+
Try the Casoulett it was amazing. You will not regret it. Wait time was great. Hostess and server were kind and respectful. A must try if you are in Vancity.
I love their mussels and fries (which are a must try). They also offer a great brunch on the weekends. If you go for the brunch make sure to order the dark chocolate mocha. I never thought I would like mocha (I'm not a fan of sweet beverages), but this one is heavenly!
My boyfriend and I ate here for dinner on our last night in Vancouver. Chambar is open for breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner, but we decided to go here at night since many of the reviewers wrote that the restaurant's dinner menu was stronger. I made reservations through the link found on their site. Later on, I needed to reschedule our reservations and that was done quickly and easily from the confirmation email I received from Chambar. We arrived to the restaurant earlier than expected and we were still shown to our table right away. Our server, Clare, was friendly and knowledgeable. With so many things on the menu that sounded good, we weren't sure what to order. We asked for, and followed her recommendations: veal stuffed calamari (delicious), congolaise mussels (delicious), and the tajine (yup, I'm going to say it again, delicious). Food and service overall was great. We had gone to Joe Fortes the previous night, and I don't mean to knock Joe Fortes, because it was nice there too, but because I was so much happier with our dining experience at Chambar, I expected the bill to be higher to reflect that, but I was wrong. Yummy food, good service, nice atmosphere, decent prices, can't go wrong here. We'll be back here on our next trip to Vancouver.
The superb service we recieved given how busy it was in the restaurant was amazing. Thank you to the professional and friendly staff. Our meal was creative, paired well with wine and spirits, and perfectly timed and prepared!
Amazing dinner experience. Service is absolutely phenomenal and attentive. Ordered the seared ahi tuna and the tomato broth mussels. Surprisingly got a large serving of mussels. Everything was cooked to perfection and the drinks are great as well. Fries were a little bit too soggy for my taste though. I will definitely be back for dinner again and the brunch menu looks amazing as well! Highly recommended!
I came here before a hockey game, and it was very packed. I definitely recommend it before or after an event at Rogers Arena, plenty of parking nearby and the valet. The food is why i had to give it 4/5 ... not because it was bad but because their menu is very seasonal, for example they sometimes don't have steak?! That was strange to me. Other than that, great atmosphere AND service!
Cozy atmosphere. Delicious food. Nice staff.
A good dining experience with well prepared items. I eaten here a few times and will go back. The ambiance and atmosphere are equally good and the lighting can be dimmer than most places. This is not a bad thing as it may be a good place for that romantic liaison with that special someone. The cinnamon honey lamb with fig and almonds reminds me of Morocco...

Chambar has long been my go to for out of town visitors. I want to treat my friends to great food, and Chambar delivers. My absolute favourite of many dishes was a ratatouille that contained fresh dill. Unbelievable! I can't wait to have out of town visitors again - maybe venture over this week, myself.
We went for Dine Out. Our server Pete was a delight and food was incredible. The taste pairings were unbelievable to my palate and cocktails creative.
Amazing cocktails and amazing food. I love taking people here for specials occasions! Also one of the few places with a lambic beer;
Friendly service, amazing space and very thoughtful, tasty food. Brunch was perfect. Would recommend to anyone looking for a special brunch treat.
The restaurant was quite busy by 11.30 am. Servers were helpful and nice and food came quickly. They have a large beer menu. It was nice of the restaurant to complementary desert because we were celebrating a special occasion. However, I decided on 3 stars because the dish I ordered was not that good, especially the value of the dish was low. I ordered Fricassée and it was too sweet to my taste with lots of what, I thought, bbq sauce. Taste had no depth to it and the dish was quite plane and sweet.
Very good service have some good variety for drinks
Staff and service are amazing. Decoration is creative, and starry at nights. Splendid place full of small shining lights and gleaming glasses. They offer well-designed and delicious foods. Its absolutely recommended.
Came here after giving up on the line for Jam cafe next door and I must say it was quite good. The decor of the restaurant gives a very 1920s industrial vibe with a modern twist. The staff were friendly and the environment was clean. I ordered a mocha with a mix of dark chocolate and milk chocolate and it's exactly as it sounds. Heavenly. I also ordered 2 waffles with dark chocolate and milk chocolate with lavendar dipping sauce. The waffles had a nice cakey flavour but the texture was soggy and chewy in the middle as opposed to crispy and fluffy. The lavendar stood out to me in the dipping sauces. Overall, a great alternative to Jam.
Service
Love enjoying the food scene in others places. Especially other countries. Atmosphere was very much in line with , bothe bar choices and food menu. Service was attentive and informative. Had the mussels. Great flavor and fresh. Very generous portions, had to take some home. High on my list to comeback and try again.

There is much I enjoy about this restaurant. I feel the vibe really sets the tone. I have also had some memorable meals here with family and friends and that makes it special for me. They have excellent drink options in the happy hour and evening times. The brunch menu is great with some amazing options and just be sure to share a waffle or 2 with the table. Personal favorite in the evening is the lamb, it is such a delight, the sauce with cous cous is just unforgettable and I order every time now haha I most certainly will and have gone back many times ????
Just had a great meal and amazing service at Chambar, highly recommend everyone to check them out, our waiter Sky was awesome. The lavender latte is a must try!
Very nice food and great service, the wine suggestion was not the best but over all nice place to go out for dinner! Desert was fantastic #chocolate mousse ????
I used to really like this place. But my recent experience was less than exemplary. Firstly they don't seem to have any Belgian beers on tap anymore which is disappointing. Secondly our waitress told us they "Don't really do samples of draught beer", when I asked for a small sample, but later gave the table next to us one. Food was good, but not enough to make up for the second rate draught list and service. Used to come here all the time for a night cap, but not any more.
Mussel dish was soooo good and I really liked wine here :) Nice atmosphere, nice food, also servers are friendly.
Wonderful food, terrible acoustics. We were seated downstairs, and the noise level bothered my husband from the start. It was difficult to hear each other, and by the time dessert came I was starting to get a headache. It's hard to enjoy food when you just want to GTFO.
A very comfortable and easy place for lunch or dinner. Yesterday I had a delicious beet soup and green salad, and I even spent time knitting a sweater!
Bf and I tried 3 different restaurants to celebrate his bday during this long weekend. I made a note to all 3 restaurants on my reservations and Chambar was the only one that paid attention to my message. Staffs were friendly and the food was SO DELICIOUS at a faired price. Moules Frites is a must try and you will not be disappointed (I was trying to cut back on carbs, but the fries were just way too good to stay away from). The Pork Belly was so tender and the Halibut was just perfect! We ended the night with Biscuit au Lait, and needless to say, we were as·ton·ished. We would definitely come again and try out their other dishes.
Sweet Christmas what a delicious place. Me and my girl went on our last day in Vancouver and I'm sooooo happy we did. The atmosphere here is amazing dark with nice candle lighting and cool bulb lighting from the ceiling. The food was incredible, so different from the norm and so chalk full of flavour it's something I won't soon forget. To top all that off they have an amazing selection of craft beers. Thanks for everything Chambar, I will be back to Vancouver next year and when I am your on my list of places to eat.
Excellent service, delicious and plentiful food, great atmosphere. Perfect for our office party. They accommodated our group of 15 very well and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Fantastic food and excellent service.
We recently took visitors to Chambar for dinner twice and we must admit that the restaurant is worth the cost, for Chambar is not a cheap place to entertain, or even to share. Service very attentive both times, though we had to ask for our bottle of wine, which was kept somewhere and the server was busy with many tables to remember to fill the glasses. The dishes were good consistently, and if one wants to IG his or her order, this is definitely the place to do so.
fantastic food, waiter could've been more attentative, but overall great experience !
Amazing food! Every dish was perfectly balanced. Defintiely coming here again! :-D
Excellent service! Even better food! A must try!
Had dinner there last night. I had the lamb and my girlfriend had the steak. Both meals were absolutely amazing. The lamb was the best I have ever had and I had a piece of the steak which was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Service was excellent and the decor/atmosphere was beautiful and made us feel comfortable immediately as we walked in the door. We will definitely be there again for dinner and probably bring some friends.
Absolutely fantastic! A feast for both the tastebuds and the eyes - so beautifully plated! I had the short ribs and they were melt in your mouth! I would recommend this restaurant for all celebrations.
We have had many memorable experiences at Chambar through the years. Tonight was another one (partly because I broke and spilled my glass of red wine on the olive accompagnement, table, chair and floor, but mostly due to the excellent service and outstanding food and drinks). The staff were amazing to come to our rescue, promptly cleaning up everything and bringing us replacement wine and olives. We ordered a variety of items from their Fall menu, and everything was perfect. The restaurant also insisted on not charging me for the wine that I spilled! Highly recommended!
Decent food, decent service. Wouldn’t go back but glad we went
I made reservations for my friend leaving town at this establishment. The ambiance and the service were good. But the lambshank I ordered was absolutely horrible. It lacked flavour. The meat was tender but It tasted like wet flavorless meat in water! I paid for my meal simply because I didnt want it to seem like I was looking for a free meal. But I hope none of you experience this!
The menu is small in terms of food but trust me they produce high quality French style food that is delicious and very well done. Food is incredibly fresh, customer service is top notch with very attentive servers. My personal favorite is the lavender latte... Mmm delicious
Nice place to have some snacks and drinks in the late night. Outstanding mussels and scallops we tried tonight, plus delicious Belgium beer. Love this place, will come again!
I think they're one of the most recognizable names in town! All our dishes were delightfully delicious. Fresh mussels are the way to go!
A wonderful higher-scale resturant! I recommend brunch or dinner (reservations are always good). Good portions as well.
Always a fantastic brunch. Simple small. Price effective. Try the fantastic waffles and a coffee. Perfect start to the weekend. Usually always a seat available if you just walk in.
Main courses were amazing, mussels were sandy but had great flavour
If you're looking for a good restaurant with a beautifully designed dining room, don't sleep on this spot. In addition to long hours (open early to late late), real decent food, great services, and a solid bar program, the whole place feels like a combination showroom/restaurant/fashion runway. Really good atmosphere!
Great beer list, nice atmosphere, tasty food, love the mussels

I’ve been here a few times and food never disappoints. The only reason I’m giving 4 starts instead of 5 this time is because we asked to bring the leftover dessert home and the server claimed she didn’t hear us. I got a quick apology from the server and didn’t get to bring my dessert home, which was only half eaten. Overall, a good experience but slightly disappointing.
Brunch
Came here for brunch and loved the bowl. The service really made this place stellar. My partner got the steak and it was a bit overdone. The ingredients are very unique... tons of probiotics (pickled vegetables) etc. They have great sides if you need to add extra protein or vegetables
We came here for breakfast the day after our wedding and the staff/manager were amazing! They brought us complimentary sparkling wine and dessert. Plus the food is awesome!
Appetizers are good. The Moules Frites Mussels, white wine with a lot of fennel , was the best and so was the sour dough, for our dinner. Services were very good, except a bit too long waiting for the entrees. Clean, and nice ambience with high ceilings for good ventilation for CoVid safety, is reassuring. We ordered artic char , lamb shank andbeef short ribs, and a charcuterie board, mussles crab bisque. . Not sure how Belgium it is. Also, the the menu selection is limited for its size.
My girlfriends and I had a lovely dinner last week. The dine out menu was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive. The espresso Martinis are divine! Can’t wait to come back
Just had my birthday night with my love here. Absolutely fantastic place to be. Only wish they didn't overcook my steak to mediam well...but it was quite noisy so I think it's ok. Other than that it's perfect. Definitely will come back.
Went there the other night and immediately fell in love with the Vibe. They stand out from other upscale places in Vancouver. Its very modern and upbeat. Not too formal. Service was excellent. Our waitress was really knowledgeable understanding and courteous. Food was really ok nothing to brag about. We actually sent one of the dishes back because it had way too much lime in it. Tables around us were not complaining about that dish so it could have been just a matter of taste. Had a chance to try the frog legs and that was an interesting experience. What made my night at Chambar was actually their Blue Fig martini. I wouldn't necessarily go back to eat there but have some drinks for sure!!
Came on a weekend for brunch to celebrate a thesis defence. The restaurant was packed so reservations are a must if you don’t want to be waiting around. I got the vegetarian paella and a waffle with dark chocolate topping for dessert. Both were delicious although portions were a bit on the smaller side. It was so busy in the restaurant that it was hard to have conversation. I took a decibel reading and the restaurant was averaging around 83dBA which is equivalent to an alarm clock! Only one washroom on the lower floor but it is wheelchair accessible.
The service, ambiance and food was amazing! Started with mussels and the stuff calamari, then ended the night with the duck. All super delicious! Best restaurant Ive tried so far after visiting Vancouver numerous times!
Amazing cocktail list & ambiance. One of the best spots in town to get a proper craft cocktail done
if you like Belgian beer (which you probably would if you like beer at all), this is where you find the complete collection. Their mixologist are amongst the best in town, seriously. Muscles are great here, always l fresh and with a variety of broths to choose from. Their main dishes are excellently prepared and well presented. I’m particularly a fan of the lamb shank. Food and drinks aside, Chambar has a kind of unique vibe. It’s got that euro business district reso vibe where you can either come for a casual drink or sit n dine, say for an anniversary. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed the Dine out Vancouver menu. Delicious food and lovely intimate atmosphere. Service was top notch and everyone was very friendly. Also stayed on top of Protocols due to current restrictions. Will definitely go back!
I've been happy every time I go. I got a Moroccan lamb dish that was really great and a spicy breakfast meal that I also really enjoyed. Service was professional and relatively quick. Atmosphere is good but not intimate.
Great brunch place if Jam Cafe is too busy! Simple with excellent execution. 4.5 stars

Went with friends. Dine out 2020. It was great. Good ambience and server. Highly recommend the coconut and rum cocktail - Coco Momotombo, congolaise mussels and the coconut custard dessert.
I had a birthday dinner for a friend on a busy Saturday night. There were a few hiccups throughout the evening but TJ and the staff at Chambar went above and beyond to ensure that our entire table left happy. I've always had great experiences at Chambar and this visit did not disappoint. We'll definitely be back!
We loved the menu for Dineout Vancouver in 2019, so we came back again in 2020. Food were delicious and presentation still outstanding. 5/5 Place was busy, vibrant atmosphere. Service was good 4/5. We will definitely come back again.
We came here for brunch and had a fantastic meal. The ambiance, presentation of dishes, and food were all great!
Great place ! The food and service both amazing. The atmosphere was really great too, we sat outside on the patio and it was beautiful
High quality food and amazing wines variety. Best service around downtown Vancouver.
Food and atmosphere on point. The service was outstanding. Very friendly and professional staff who provided an incredible experience. Thank you for a lovely evening!
This place is chic, classy and romantic yet unpretentious. We had heard great things about this restaurant and had booked ahead, lucky we did because on a Thursday night the restaurant filled up quickly. The menu is relatively small but that's OK because we only had eyes for the mussels which were fabulous. The wine list is extensive but a bit on the pricey side, although we worked out buying glasses was cheaper than buying a bottle! Service was attentive and professional. It's a bit of a budget buster so best save dinner here for a special occasion.
Dinner
Impressive experience! Every element of each plate provided a totally unique flavour resulting in a complex flavour profile. The service was impeccable. 10/10 will return
Went here for Dine Out, ordered olives and 4 drinks additionally. I had been looking forward to the evening for ages, but the service really kept it from being a 5 star experience. Our server really wouldn't let us forget there is a time constraint. We felt very rushed, especially when our bill was dropped at the table as our dinner was being cleared and dessert not yet arrived. No one even bothered to see if maybe we wanted another drink. In fact for our second drinks, we had to ask! Felt like because we were there for Dine Out, we got less than stellar service. As for the food, quite satisfied. The lamb could have been warmer and the server's recommendation to add the couscous to the tagine was terrible (it's so brothy the couscous floats away). But otherwise a good experience.
Just love the breakfast here! Book your table in advance! The place is usually packed!
Service
I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve tried the mussels twice here and they still don’t do it for me. There’s no punch to it. It just feels like it’s mussels with added tomato sauce and wine. The chocolate ganache cake on the other hand was superb. Service was great!!!
Good. Second time there. Nice brunch place. Fancy. Big
Whenever I see lines outside of neighbouring brunch spots, I always wonder if they know how great Chambar's brunch is, and that you can actually make reservations there. Between the custom colourful light fixture when you first walk in, to the brick and wood of this old building, there is a lot of charm to this restaurant. I think Chambar's brunch is one of the greatest in the city. Every brunch should definitely include one of their wonderful lattes (lavender is my favourite), and a liege waffle, with your choice of topping (though bacon caramel is objectively the best). They have a menu that would would meet the needs of many different diets, and their servers are knowledgeable about the menu. They have an extensive wine and cocktail menu and the service has always been friendly, in my experience.
Meal type
Delicious, nothing wrong per se, but didn’t really live up to the brunch hype. Maybe I should’ve ordered cocktails. Skip the omelette, def get the bacon and the waffles even though they’re served on silly too small plates. Beautiful room, trendy customers.
The service and food was very good but it was quite noisy and they didn’t space out tables very well. The service is very good and the food is very good also.
As vivid restrictions ease, we went for dinner at Chambar. Prices up, menu smaller and room decidedly less atmospheric with tables spread out. It was decent but not great, as before
We had the pleasure to drop by this spot as we were, as perhaps like many others, deterred by the line snaking outside of Jam. Top choice or not, it was a pleasant surprise. A French-styled restaurant whose food is as delightful as its decor. Space matters. And the atmosphere of this restaurant aided by its interior elevates the mood and interjects energy. It had the right vibe with the crowd we were dining with. The food may sound and look simple enough, yet it’s the way they are put together, much like the ‘little chef’ in Ratatouille, that made it taste... perfect. And we affirmed the theory that it’s never too early for a glass of wine. ????
We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch at Chambar. We started with a delicious cocktail recommended by our server. The pork breakfast plate was very tasty, especially the sausage with the perfect hit of spice and flavor. The coffee was fantastic. And a waffle with salted caramel sauce was the perfect way to finish our meal. Service was top notch as well. Two thumbs up from both of us!
Great selection of Belgian beer, delicious, nicely put together food. Nice outside seating area. Cocktails and charcuterie plates served here.
Best breakfast I’ve had in a while. The waiter was so accommodating and food was superb. I was there about two months ago and every time I go somewhere new for breakfast no one is living up to same experience. So I thought it best to come back and review.
Their brunch menu is great, but I wouldn't tell the same thing for dinner. Food wasn't even ok as the meat was very chewy and tasteless. I would expect extra special as per the price they listed per their main course items. Extremely disappointment guest service from our server(s).
It was very nice space , the reason i am giving 4 stars is when i reserved the table i did say that i am reuniting with my husband after 2/5 years , i would’ve thought they would give us a quieter spot , we couldn’t have much an romantic evening there were so much noise and talking . Otherwise the food and staff were amazing!
While not bad, neither of our dishes really lived up to their promise. The "paella", however, was so unlike what a paella is that it bordered on offensive. Not just because of the almost total lack of similar ingredients but because it didn't capture any of the dishes beauty. Serving it with cheese on top was a final insult (also pretty sure it wasn't on the menu as such). Orzo (not saucy) with a chorizo sausage and some eggs and cheese(?!) is about as much paella as I am a fig.
Mussels are so good... I could drink the tomato and coconut cream broth. I also had the ling cod and it was cooked perfect with a delicious crust and not over done (although parts of the bed of greens it was on was not very edible with some very tough stems). Sauce was delicious and it came with a giant piece of the most crispy proccuito - make sure they don't cover that with sauce when they serve it.
There are better options out there for the price. The food was ok, presentation was amateur. Service and drinks were exceptional.
Had 2 Waffles with Salted Caramel and Raspberry Caramel, as well as the Maple Glazed Bacon with Apples. My girlfriend had the Paella. Definitely recommend both. Restaurant is a bit pricy, but the food is wonderful and the service is top notch.
So we had dinner here, my first dish was severely over cooked ( risotto) it was already late and I told the chef to make whatever he wanted as to not keep them there longer than necessary he made the tuna dish off the menu and it was incredible. The way they handled and fixed the first mistake was awesome will definielty be going back.

I live he brunch here the Fricasse is amazing so are the waffles. Not fond of the dinner menu but that's okay because the breakfast is amazing. Best waffles in town!
Had bruch here. Not so much great food for brunch. Maybe they are better for dinner. I love their decor and atmosphere.
Awesome food and great service. We were originally going to a different place but, there was a 45min line to get in. Luckily Chambar was just walking distance. Great brunch was had along with the coquotte mussels. The salted caramel and dark chocolate waffles we had for dessert was really great too. Just the right amount of sweetness!
Went for DineOut. Good menu, creative and inspiring food. Very cool atmosphere. Had the tuna as a starter and the wild boar in bone broth as a main. Both were great. The main was probably one of the best mains I had in quite some time. My dessert was a chocolate cake. It was served a bit too cold for my liking. Great Americano to go with it.
Great first experience. We grabbed some items of the dinner menus Along with some craft cocktails. Everything was fresh, flavourful and delicious. Lovely atmosphere to this place.
Chambar delivers yet again. We had some classic menu items like the Blue Fig cocktail (a must), foie de canard, mussels, and the veal stuffed calamari (best thing on their dinner menu). Service was a bit spotty from what I would expect for a night out, but the food was vastly more than worth the trip. It's a bit chilly inside the restaurant so bring an extra layer if you get cold easily.
Solid 3 1/2 star dining. Rich flavouring keeps you full for a few hours. Staff is nice but sometimes not as attentive as I would like. Would appreciate a scan of the room and or more awareness when people are done- ready to pay. That being said - Place has good industrial design taste. Napkins! I come here because of the napkins haha and Carpaccio de Boeuf, and Le Mezzes and the Mixed olives (the best olives I’ve had in Van). The price is a bit high for the quality of food. Avoid the frites to be honest- very unappealing and not tasty second time now I had them looking/ tasting in old oil. I would just scratch them off the menu all together and replace with some good yam wedges. Desserts are good ;). Overall it’s a good place. I have been here many times and stick to what they master at. Bon appétit.
Very good and friendly service. Food is EXTREMELY spicy, I couldn't eat my vegetables. Not all of us like food that is so spicy and hot. At this price range I would have liked to be informed in the menu and given a choice for less spiciness. If you don't like hot spicy food this is not the place, as for me I'll never go back.
Delicious food, great service. Went for brunch. The eggs were cooked perfect, the short rib was so tender and the sauce it was in was to die for!

Had the mussels and they were delicious and a huge serving. Large selection of alcoholic beverages and great staff.
Wowowow. The food was soooo tasty! We all got the paella at Nathan's recommendation and I got a waffle with white chocolate and lavender for dessert. My goodness was it delicious! The service was also amazing! Thanks Nathan!
Beautiful place, good food and abieance is posh. Friendly staff and will accommodate you but make sure to make a reservations.
I regretted only ordering one bisque to share! Delicious food, great ambience, fantastic service, and all at a very reasonable price.
Helpful from reservation to exit. Coat service at door, lovely seating in front or back. Simple yet complex menu. Tasteful presentation of food combined with delicious and thoughtful flavour pairings. Each time we bring guests, it becomes a local favourite.
Excellent food - we had the waffles (lavender chocolate sauce was our favorite), bon matin, and house sausage, all of which were delicious. Very lovely space and polite, attentive wait staff. Would absolutely visit again.
Went there for dinner. Totally enjoyed the food and drink a lot! They have pretty good collection of alcohol drinks. The lamb we had was so good! Desserts were tasty too!! I like their atmosphere too!
Great room, creative menu, friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. Good strong coffee, fresh orange juice I think. I had the shortrib fricassee, which was excellent--balsamic cipollini onions and apples nicely offset the rich sauce; served in a cast iron skillet. Good focaccia to wipe the pan. My companion had milk chocolate lavender waffles--nicely dense with a subtle sauce. Portions were hearty but not overwhelming. It's next to the Jam Bar, which is outstanding but has an hour-long wait to go along with it. We walked in here at 10 am. Try it. You won't be disappointed.
Perhaps my favourite restaurant in Vancouver. Every meal, every wine pairing, every server I've ever had here (which has been many times) has been on point.
We had Congolaise, Tajine & Grillade de Boeuf for dinner. The portion of the dishes was good enough for 4 of us. The service was great and the food keeps me coming back.
My gf loves this place. So I'll have to love it too! Will be back!
Ordered vegetarian gnocchi. It wasn't on the menu, but the chef made it special for me as they have limited vegetarian options. Every bite had a new surprise in it. I really felt like for the first time in my life that I had a meal a chef prepared. I had this over 2 years ago and still remember how good it was. It was easily in the top 3 best things I've ever ate. I liked the waiter very much. His French accent was charming and he was very nice to us. Loved the dim lighting and candles. Very nice inside.
I was very surprised this place was open for breakfast/brunch. A pleasant surprise it was. The food was amazing, the service was exceptional and the decor was unexpected. Being a red seal chef myself, well let's just say giving a five star rating is not something I do often. Now I need to check Chambar out for dinner- soon!
Service was extremely good, food delicious. Merci beaucoup Chamber!
This was our last night celebration in Vancouver and we couldn’t have found a better restaurant. We did the 15th anniversary dinner and every morsel was fabulous. One of our favorite dinners ever and our new go-to restaurant in Vancouver! Service was outstanding. Thank you!!
Mediocre food. Bad vibes from waiter. Stars for the patio. This is my first google review for a restaurant. The waiter gave such a bad vibe, I felt the need to leave a review. The middle-aged bearded waiter was indifferent, borderline rude. No smiles, no greetings. Did not give me a menu when I arrived a minute after my friend. Clear disappointment when we didn't order drinks. Rolled his eyes when I asked for a spoon for the sauce. Really? My friend and I both agreed that the food was surprisingly mediocre. I had the venison burger and my friend had the grilled ahi tuna. We also shared a foie gras as an appetizer. We both didn't finish our plate. Would not visit again.
We have been there many years ago for brunch and the experience was positive. However, this time was opposite and will never go back. When we called to reserve a table on Thursday night at 5pm they said there are fully booked but maybe if we walk in there will be one or two table opening up. We got there and the whole place was empty. The host was very rude, they favored group of guys that were behind me and offered them coat check but never offered similar service to me and my partner. My partner has injury and is walking with crutches, and since there was a big group between me and her I requested if she could just show her vaccine passport and join me because she can’t stand too long, to which the host replied: “she can wait and then come in and show her ID like everybody else” the lack of access and recognition and the level of rudeness was beyond what we have experienced. Then they gave us a table, the worst table in the dark, in a place that at least 30 other tables were available. We requested another table and still they have us a tiny corner table while seeing my partner was with crutches. And there were many comfortable tables available. The server, also had a condescending attitude, never checked on us after the food arrived, the food was very mediocre, I compare it to pub food but over price. I really don’t think this is a queer friendly space, specially for women. The level of discrepancy in services was very obvious. We are regular restaurant goers and love high end restaurants, this place is at best an average pub food with horrible and unfriendly service.

Decent service, could be a little better. Food is presentable and tasty, price is fair. Good ambience, good selection of drinks. Busy place.

Delicious, fresh, local food. Thoughtfully curated beer, wine and cocktails. Excellent service- attentive but not over the top. Decent prices as well. You won’t be disappointed.
Enjoyed their dineout menu. The restaurant, like many, has a very dark environment. Some people will have trouble reading the menu and will have to use there phone light to see. Good service. Some tables are placed too close to each other, where it makes it hard to access the seats near the wall.
Would give a 3.5 if I could. This was our first time dining for brunch (we always go for moules frites which are delicious) and were not impressed. We ordered Gaufre à la Truite and Gaufre aux Champignons which are basically fancy eggs bennys on sourdough waffles. While the flavours were amazing we were disappointed that both dishes were not hot - a bit colder than room temp. It seems the waffles and eggs were pre-made and just ready to be plated. For the price you pay per dish you'd expect freshly made (and hot!) food. Will we be back? Yes... but maybe just for dinner.

Came to Chambar for Dine Out week and picked from a set menu for $45. The service was amazing and the food was even better! I would definitely come back and dine from their regular a la carte menu.
Second time here. Love the food especially the waffles.
Wanted to grab a quick bite before seeing The Phantom of the Opera and Chambar came up as near by. Heard lots but never tried it so figured it was about time. My wife and I were warmly greeted by TJ, one of the managers and seated at the bar. Jimmy took great care of us, checking on our drinks and food throughout our time there. We selected the foie gras, veal stuffed calamari, seared scallops, and the roquefort poutine. Everything was so good the only picture I took was of half the foie gras with the remnants of the poutine in the background.
We had a great culinary and service experience. Thank you team Chambar! We will be back.
Had a great brunch experience! Loved the interior and the food was such a delight! ????
Beautiful space, the decor and lighting are impressive. The food is very good and the staff are friendly and attentive. Brunch plates are always a favourite of mine, and don't forget to check out the impressive selection of Belgian beers.
Amazing flavors I would not have put together. Fantastic warm service from staff that really enjoy working there and are excited about the food they serve.
Limited menu for food but for what they offer they do a fantastic job. Brunch is always a favorite with delicious skillet options as well as their famous waffles. Dinner is excellent too. I usually pick the fish which is perfectly cooked. Service is of course always exceptional.
Service
Service was extremely slow. It took over 15 mins just to get a coffee refill after asking 2 different people. Took extremely long to order as well. However when it came time to get the bill they were rushing us and didnt spare a single second. Table near us was blasting a hockey game on their phone which ruined the atomosphere. Crying babies around us as well.Just unlucky of us I guess. Food was okay, nothing spectacular. The flavours are just butter and salt. I’m glad i checked it out but probably wont go again.
It has been since pre pandemic that we've visited. The food was amazing, our server Darryl/Darrel was amazing. Relaxed, friendly, almuerzo seguido de sobremesa.
Service
Dropped by after a concert for a cocktail. I ordered the Kingslayer. It made my top 10 list of best cocktail I have ever had. That is saying alot since I have had many from all over the world. The atmosphere is very classy and service staff was friendly and attentive. Two thumbs up.
Good place for brunch. My niece and nephew really enjoyed the waffles. The paella had a good variety of different foods that was made well.
Very elegant dining experience with delicious Belgian fare! I'm not one for Belgian beers, though, but they make very delicious cocktails, and if there's nothing on the menu you see that tickles your fancy, you can always ask the bartender to whip something up for you, based on your preferences. The stuffed squid will also be a favourite for me :) Frog legs available for those more adventurous... Brunch is just a bit too heavy for my tastes.
Amazing Restaurant and Amazing Service. We went there for V-Day Dinner and we both had a good time. Really good drinks and very good food. Would highly recommend this place and we will for sure be going back.
Loved their Foie gras and mussels, soooo yummy. Service was top notch as well. Enjoyed my time with friends here, one of my fav restaurants in Van
Great place for a bunch. It’s delicious and price is afordable. One staff recommended us one special beer, and I really liked it. He also very kindly told me where I can buy it in Vancouver. Thank you :)
Great Atmosphere and great food: Coquotte (Mussels with bacon) Thon et Saucisse (Tuna with green chorizo) Tajine d’Aziz à l’Agneau (lamb shank)
Frequent patron. We can usually rely on insanely good food with each visit. This time however it was middle of the road. While our appetizer was excellent, only one of our main courses was a hit. Sadly, the steak's sauce was too heavy on the capers for my personal taste. We'll be back
Amazing waffles, one of the best I've had in Vancouver up there with Medina and Nero's waffles. The decor and ambiance is hipster and modern, very nice vibe.
Perfect place for a special occasions. The staff is very detail oriented and provides excellent service. It's also a good brunch spot. The food is delicious. My go to here is either the lamb or the mussels.
elegant and romantic lighting. Great place to go for beers and mussels...however but not their foie gras fans.
I always enjoy meals at Chambar! Their menu has changed throughout the years but the mussels and waffles are classics that have been on the menu since I can remember. The mussels are juicy and fresh and you can pick from three different sauces/broth. Love the fries it comes with and the aioli for dipping. We also tried the pulled pork sandwich this time which comes on a brioche bun and onion rings on the side. This dish was quite tasty and enjoyable. For dessert, we went with the waffles and three different dipping sauces and it was very satisfying!
One of the best spots in the city! Great food good atmosphere would definitely a spot to check out! All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable Menu has a lot of variety and options - good cocktail list, nice interior ! Trully a 5 star experience and deserves a 5 star review ! Would recommend !
Great restaurant. Phenomenal food from start to finish. Don't hesitate to follow the chef suggestions!
Went there for breakfast most recently. We ordered a fricassée and the steak and eggs. The food was great, and the portions, although seemingly small, were quite filling. Good coffee. I also recommend their mimosas. The service was quick. We had a couple of people look after us at the table, and one of them gave us a (very obvious) eyeroll when we asked if there was a space on the patio... Everyone else was great.
Another amazing dinning experience! The food was good and great place to pamper and splurge. On a nice day the patio space is great. Good thing next door was packed, destiny brought us here.
I visited this restaurant as part of the Vancouver Dine Out event and am glad I did. Food was delicious, ambience was pleasant, and service was attentive and sincere.
Hmm the food was rather okay for my taste buds. Perhaps we didn’t like the pre set menus of their dine out Vancouver menu. The muscles were okay in taste, it’s nothing to be blown away by. The pork belly was a different dish as my wife was not expecting it to be a soup dish. The service was great though. Perhaps I need to try their regular menus next time in order to give them a fair review.
I came here for brunch and I really enjoyed the food. They atmosphere is super cozy and the service was awesome. Our server was French, and he was an absolute sweetheart and I low key felt like I was in France.
Such beautifully made salad!! Was making 'yummy noises' from beginning to end. This dish is called... Bol Santé Salt Spring Island tofu, turmeric & cashew butter, spinach, preserved red cabbage, tahini, hempseed, savory granola, marinated egg Only available for brunch time.
Spectacular food, it’s looks and tastes incredible! We went for brunch and had a hearty meal out on the patio. The staff were attentive and helpful. It’s a little pricey but it’s a great for a treat.
Loved the food. Short rib was amazing. My wife and 7 year old daughter loved the waffles. So many great flavors for dips with waffles.
Second time here, thought its been a few years. The food and service was excellent. I would describe Chambar as unpretentious, classy, satisfyingly special food. We had the tomato mussels, steelhead trout, and the steak. All fantastic and portion size just right. I highly recommend. Even during these covid times, the atmosphere was lovely and they brought me some sweets for my birthday.
Service was exceptional. Temperature checks at the door, monitored number of people standing in the foyer area. There was a mishap in the kitchen which meant one of the dishes at our table were unable to be served, they offered up alternative options and accommodated us very well.
My girlfriend took me here for a dine out and we had a good time. We sat at a bar so we had a nice view of the bartender making drinks and it was also fun chatting with him. I got Lind’s Lemonade for a cocktail and if you enjoy citrus drinks, I would recommend this. As for dine out, we ordered the albacore tuna, and the medium rare roast bbq bison. BBQ bison was good but I think the sauce was a bit too strong for me. Albacore tuna was quite nice - it was a note of sweetness which was surprisingly nice. The main course was short ribs and seared char. The char was a bit dry but the garnish around the fish nicely balanced it out. The short ribs were literally falling apart in the best way possible and the pickled beets added a citrus note to the dish. The dessert was delicious despite how full we were. The chocolate cake was pretty standard but done well, and the green tea panna cotta was light and refreshing after the heavy dinner. Overall, it was a nice meal and next time I would come back for brunch!

Wow, I'm actually not likely to forget about eating here for a while! Their food combinations are pretty amazing, split a beet salad, and a duck breast gnocchi plate with my wife before a show, and was very impressed with the layered flavors in both dishes. Great ambiance, impressive craft beer list (though a touch overpriced there). Will visit again when in town again!
2022 Dine Out. Excellent all around.
The food, atmosphere, cocktails, selection of Belgian beers, design of the menu and friendliness of the waiters/waitresses was superb. This place is very pricey but well worth it for a special occasion. Leave your picky-eating, young children at home; they most likely won't have the acquired taste for this restaurant.
Dinner
Good food, service, drinks and an amazing atmosphere.
Excellent girls night out We were seated quickly even without reservations. They have Covid19 health and safety in place. Dinner menu had options for all dietary needs. The dinner service was a little slow but the food came out hot and fast- it will definitely have you forgetting about the service. The ambiance is very chill. Through the years Chambar definitely went through some changes. It is a little more upscale that I remember. Don't know if thats a good or bad thing. All I know is the food was phenomenal. Good job!
One of the higher end Belgian restaurant in Vancity downtown. Good ambiance, delicious food, and professional service. The price is worth all these. If you are in a beautiful restaurant, only a few selection of main dishes doesn't matter too much. I had the tuna dish, which was amazing, but the portion was a bit small for me. Ordering an appetizer will do. Having a vast number of options for wine and beer definitely made it fun, with different lagers of Belgian origin. It took an average amount of time from order to eating. Recommended for dates or couple drinks with groups!
I won't be coming back. The portions are small and the prices are exuberant, but more importantly the food just doesn't taste very good. Their dishes have such a weird mixture of sweet, salty, bitter and sour. It's a unique experience for sure but it's not tasty, and I left hungry and with a weird aftertaste in my mouth. The coffee is also served in tiny glasses and is super bitter. I guess I disagree with the Vancouver reviewers who gave this place 1st place in various magazines.

Let me start by saying the soup here is to die for. I was feeling a bit adventurous so I spun the bowl of soup around and it created a portal. Of course I jumped through and was trapped in an aquarium with ramen noodles as seaweed.

The braised ribs were good but just a bit strong and salty the taste. Bread was served when hot and it was good. During the pandemic I visited Chamber again, the staff took all the actions to keep the restaurant clean and sanitized. They keep contact points and measure temperatures of all the customers before entering. I liked the chorizo sausage but the eggs were just a bit salty. But overall the experience was excellent.
The White Chocolate Pistachio Rosewater topping for the waffles & the fresh orange juice really just took this brunch to the next level. It's definitely pricey - but worth trying at least once. My only dissapointment was getting the Pain Du Jour packed as we had ate a bite each and the kitchen did not pack the fresh butter with it - wasn't the same at home without it. Can't wait for my next trip back for those waffles...
Excellent food - we had the waffles (lavender chocolate sauce was our favorite), bon matin, and house sausage, all of which were delicious. Very lovely space and polite, attentive wait staff. Would absolutely visit again.
Went for a weekend brunch. Pretty decent food experience in general. None of the dishes surprised me nor I found it memorable, but everything was put together well and nothing was amiss. Service, on the other hand, left me a little cold, as the server's attitude seems to be quite impersonal and indifferent. She was not rude or anything, but I had much better services in lesser establishments.
Amazing service and all the staff were following mask and hand sanitizing protocol. Food was delicious as always.
The food is excellent. From the appetizers to the mains. I tried a bit of all of them, and they were all on point. The first few bites were the best. At the end, it was a little salty for me, but still nonetheless great dishes.
If you haven't been to Chamber. Go. If you haven't been lately. Return. Our dinner last night was exceptional. Sunchoke confit, followed by Lamb Tagine with Hareissa was one of the finest restaurant meals I have enjoyed in some time. The staff were the perfect balance of there, and away; the spacing was safe, but with filled seats to give a lively vibe, and a sense that we were in a normal-but-careful world. I will be back soon.
Great Belgian restaurant for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Personally I like the dinner menu more, but that’s subjective. The food here is tip top quality, and it is obvious that it’s made with quality and care. Service is great, with an extremely friendly staff all around. Definitely would love to come back here again, and I recommend this place to anyone looking for great Belgian food.
I've visited Chambar for brunch, happy hour, and even for just drinking and found everything to be top-notch, from the decor to the service and the menu. Great selection of beer, wine, craft cocktails, and food. No doubt about it, you'll pay a premium to drink here, but the price is reflected in the ambiance of the dining room and professionalism of the bar and wait staff. I'll be back
0202 DOV 2020 Been meaning to try this restaurant for years. Dine Out Vancouver is one of the best way to try out restaurants. Chambar did not disappoint at all and now we know why it's rated as 4+ star on various review sites. We will return for their delicious food, impeccable service and cozy ambiance. We had the following last night: • Curry de Crevettes • Tartare Sauvage • Moules Frites 'Congolaise' • Le Pièce de Boeuf • Le Gâteau au Chocolat + Dates et Noix de Coco
We enjoyed a stunning dinner here last night. My celiac hubby was delighted to find so many gluten-free options on the menu. We started with the mussels with cream sauce and bacon. While not an inexpensive appie, the portions were generous and the gf French fries went with it beautifully. For our main, we both went for the short ribs served on a celeriac purée with pickled beets and other goodies. A gorgeous presentation and the pickling really balanced the richness of the fall-apart beef. Excellent service and a good wine list. Best of all, zero tummy issues the next day which is always our “canary in a coal mine for hidden gluten”. We will be back!
I have never written a review for a restaurant previously, however I was spurred to do so after my meal at Chambar this evening. My husband and I enjoy taking trips into Vancouver for good meals on weekends, but for the past two years it has been sporadic due to Covid. We decided to try and get reservations last-minute for "dine-out Vancouver" and were surprised to have a few choices at Chambar. We settled on a 515 reservation. We are semi-regulars at Chambar and really enjoy the foie-gras terrine which was an option on the menu for an additional $8. My husband chose this, while I picked the grilled tuna starter. Both were delicious. I then had the Arctic Char and my husband chose the steak (for an additional $25). My fish was impressive. There was a substantial portion of char, well-presented with tasty accompaniments. My husband said that the steak was chewy (which he advised the wait staff when paying), but he said it tasted good and he seemed to enjoy it. A salad and fries came with the steak. I have to say that between the excellent (and classy) service, the large portions and the quality of the meal, in addition to Chambar using "Oceanwise" fish, we had an excellent meal that was really top-notch. I have nothing to complain about which is pretty unusual!. Thanks Chambar for a lovely meal in a lovely restaurant. Keep up the good work!
Meal type
A wonderful higher-scale resturant! I recommend brunch or dinner (reservations are always good). Good portions as well.
Meal type
We had a lovely evening but service was subpar. A couple of times we had to call the waiters to come and take our order. We also had to ask them to bring us the cheque since our main waiter was nowhere to be found.
Dinner
So there was a line at a popular breakfast place down the street so we decided to try this place out instead. I can't believe the line wasn't outside this place. The bacon was unlike any other I've had. It was thick squares of pork belly. The waffles were tiny so be prepared to order a couple. The coffee was also well prepared. This is probably more pricey than the breakfast down the street but it was a great experience all around, and I didn't have to line up for an hour in the cold.
Great service, nice decor, good food. Our breakfast here was pretty unique, but still familiar flavors with good playing. It was simple, yet full of flavor, but also nothing special. I had the La Saucisse with sausage, eggs, and cornbread which I can recommend and my partner had the Fricassée which was good as well. We then finished our meal with the waffle which was fine. Pretty chewy and small, it was a bit disappointing. Overall, we had a good meal, glad we tried it, but I’m ok with not coming back for breakfast.

I've been to Chambar several times for both brunch and dinner. In general, I've had excellent experiences in terms of both food and service, but when I recently went for Dine Out 2019, my entire party of 4 felt that we were being rushed throughout our entire meal - we were even forced to pay our bills while we were still eating dessert! We were aware of the 1.5 hour seating time, but our feeling was that if they are unable to get patrons through their meals in that amount of time, perhaps they should be making the seatings longer. This was by no means an inexpensive night out - we were still paying $70 each with tip! I expected more from Chambar, and although I will likely come back for their delicious waffles, I would certainly think twice before returning for dinner.
Chambar has solid offerings for upscale food. Had the prix fixe four course meal. Each course was yummy and flavourful. The bison tartare was balanced. The moules frites were exceptional. The broth was bright and the mussels were fresh. The fries and the congolaise were the right richness that you needed to counter the spice from the mussels. Service was prompt and attentive. All in all a good experience. Value per dollar wasn't what I had hoped for. I've had meals for about the same price in Vancouver that blew me out of the water.
Oh yes. You know you're gonna have a good time if you're at chamber for brunch. Fricassee, paella, and waffles are beast. Service is fantastic and ambience is lovely. Prices are a bit high but the food is worth it.
Very nice Belgium taste, it is better to make a reservation in advance because there are many people waiting in queue. Recommend the mussels strongly.
My girlfriend and I came here for her birthday yesterday. She had the lamb shank and I had the mussels. Her lamb was pretty good but my mussels tasted off. They tasted very strongly of garlic and overall were just okay. The best part of our experience was our waiter who was excellent and with the bill brought us a small plate of candies and chocolate for my girlfriend's birthday. Very nice. Now the reason for my low review is that this morning I woke up with food poisoning.. and when you're paying $80 for a two person meal that shouldn't happen. This is a nice place with nice decor, atmosphere and I'm sure a lot of excellent dishes. But it doesn't change the fact that it made me sick. So I can only give two stars.
Sister restaurant to local favorite, Medina, Chambar has a great ambiance, cool staff, and delicious food. Come for the Belgian waffles and dipping sauces! Best flavors are pistachio-rose water, salted caramel, and raspberry compote. The dish in the pic is essentially a deconstructed breakfast charcuterie plate. YUM!!

By far one of my favourite brunch places in Vancouver. Great food, fantastic coffee AND you can make a reservation. Always nice to bypass the long lines for the breakfast place next door (which is overrated) and get seated within a few minutes at Chambar.
I wanted to have great time with my friend yesterday at Chambar, but It was TERRIBLE. We asked our server his recommendations when we wanted to order at the first and then he said just like "everything is good". What the.. He has never come up our table and asked us how food was or something like that. Also he made our wine being empty constantly. He had an abrupt manner. However he kept doing something with welcoming attitude and smile to other tables except for our table. It's because we were the only one of the asian girls? Seriously? I and my friend felt we were racially discriminated, even if he is not a racist. I didn't use to leave negative reviews. Nevertheless, I had no choice but to write this review. It was such a horrendous experience I've ever had. The food, dessert and atmosphere was absolutely stunning, but the server(Peter) ruined everything of your restaurant reputation.
No COVID-19 restrictions anymore, servers not wearing masks, no social distancing between tables, I really was not enjoying dining in here. Foodwise is just so-so, not the Chambar we liked before.
My husband& I went to try Chambar for the first time for brunch as we've heard great things about the restaurant. The ambiance is great but we had to wait close to 1 hour for our food to come out (excluding the time we waited to order). We realize its still "covid season" & we were understanding but 1hr wait for food was too long. I liked the food that I chose but my hubby didn't like his "paella" too much as he was expecting actual rice instead of rice substitue. Overall it was an ok experience.
Had the chili mussels and it was awesome. There were so many mussels and the broth was bold with a touch of Asian flavor and spices. There wasn't a single empty shell. Will definitely be back.
Amazing service and food. The waiter was incredibly knowledge of the menu and able to give direction that helped everyone find their perfect dish. I had the duck and gnocchi for my main and it was incredibly intricate and delicious. Very memorable experience
Loved the food here! Great service and really flavorful food. It's usually pretty busy but the crowd is fast moving, so you'll most likely be able to get a table without a long wait.
I’ve done brunch, lunch, dinner, and drinks at Chambar and each time it’s been lovely. The space is great and the staff friendly. For beer lovers you will find a large beer selection.
This place deserve 7 starts not only 5! It is just amazing in all terms and standards! Lovely atmosphere, excellent service, beautiful design, amazing food, very generous portions, wide choices and so much more! I choose to take my best girlfriends there for her birthday diner because of the great reviews and we simply end up being stunned with the quality of the service! We had so much fun everything was excellent we ate so much until we didn't had place for desert anymore but still since the chef knew that we having a birthday dinner he made sure we get a small complimentary sweets with a happy birthday note. We were so happy with this beautiful treat!!! Everything was excellent but the mussels were exceptional definitely it is a must try!!! I recommend and recommend and recommend again!!! It is already my favourite place in downtown Vancouver and can't wait to go soon for brunch it looks like it is soo yummy!!!
Consistently one of my favourite restaurants in Gastown. They have outstanding waffles, a great Belgian beer selection for lunches, a well-chosen wine list for dinners, and appropriately promiscuous cocktails for all occasions. Try venturing outside their mussels and fries and enjoy some surprisingly well sourced local dishes.
I don't have the taste for their supper, but the brunch and their selection of beverage is great, especially when their price could actually be considered inexpensive given their location and style.
One of my favourite restaurants ever. The drinks are remarkable. Very loud, very busy & service can take a bit; staff is very nice though & the mussels are delicious. The desserts are something quite unique, I've not been disappointed.
First impression of the restaurant was positive with warm lighting and airy high ceiling. The mussels in tomato broth, coupled with a glass of Laughing Stock white, was out of this world delicious. Both the Paella and Tajine were very good with nice balance flavors. Overall an excellent place for all occasions.
A five star brunch place! The space is big therefore no wait was required. Waffle tastes good and coffee too. Servers are super nice, come regularly to check everything. Sitting at the patio is very relaxing with the planters around.
Great ambiance and good food. The beef dish that we had was only okay but everything else about the experience was great! Good cocktails and wine list.
I’ve only had dinner here until today I had brunch. Different vibe as the lights are dimmed for dinner. Brunch is very vibrant and busy. Brunch: 4.5. Had the gaufe Au saumon (gravlax salmon). While it was beautiful the gravlax had a more than normal fish smell and was a bit hard and dry. I was expecting gravlax as it is in Europe. But the poached eggs were delicious. Cappuccino hit the spot. We also had two sweet waffles, made in house at their waffle station. Fluffy but not too sweet. I prefer the salted caramel dip. Staff are very casual looking but formal service with great attitudes. They don’t stick around to talk too much or pry into your conversations which is nice- effective and efficient with a smile. Busy for brunch but lots of space. Parking is limited and $$ for street parking. Do not attempt to park at Costco on a Sunday. Sky train station is very near by. I recommend this place to tourists and locals. I’m a fan of the place!
Love this place. It's been around for many years and has consistent quality of food and services. Cosy ambience and spacious space suitable for one, two or a large group. I had host my birthday there with the entire lower floor and it was great. Personally I enjoy going there with myself and enjoy a nice meal too when I don't feel like cooking. Chambar has become my second kitchen, with professional chef. I like going there for Coquette: Mussels, white wine, cream, smoked bacon lardons, spring onion; Kabocha squash, swiss chard, Salt Spring Island smoked tofu, pickled beets, walnuts, fresh pomegranate, tahini dressing when I like to have vegetables/vegetarian; and last night I had Pot au Feu Braised wild boar belly, chorizo, cassava, plantain, aji salsa, avocado, smoked bone broth for $29 main. Pictures don't do justice as the lighting is on the dark side at night but I took one for the record.
Guys and gals alike - this is where you take your partner if you want to SPOIL them. Simply one of the finest dining experiences. Extra fine cocktails paired with delicious food choices. Extensive wine menu. Superb service.
TOP NOTCH ???? I'm surprised this place has less than 5 stars! The perfect Saturday brunch with my girls. I haven't tried good food since I have been to Canada. Honestly, the reservation was easy, the food was PERFECT, taste and presentation. Everything was made with love. The ambiance is beautiful too and the service above and beyond Sky was very kind and helpful. And finally, the price was really good. I will definitely be returning for dinner. Love it ????❤️ ????????
Chambar was on my list for so long, and I am glad I was finally able to dine there! Flatbread was extremely delicious: an explosion of flavors! Drinks were very nice too—right level of strength and taste! Service was great too. I’m glad that they strictly check vaccine cards and IDs at the door. My only displeasure was that for reservations they require a credit card guarantee. I understand it but it’s very different from the industry practice.
Service and food was awesome. The space is great on a sunny day in the morning. Always a great experience.
Mussels and duck dishes were delicious. Also, high quality service. Had a Chardonnay 2018 on menu and came to us with 2015 they had left at no extra cost. Ambience great, menu limited but dishes done to perfection and service top notch.
Great cocktails and delicious brunch! And I love the decor inside, very cool vibe.
Thank you to all the Chambar staff for being so accommodating to my special needs. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. The atmosphere felt very welcoming. Thank you for being open while it lasted. We will be coming back here for sure when your doors open again. I highly recommend Chambar if you want something memorable.
I was taken to Chambar for my birthday dinner. Looking forward to an exceptional experience and definitely felt a little let down. The service was awful. Our server clearly was not capable of handling the section that she was given nor did she seem to give a toss about the people she was serving. It took nearly 20 mins before she came over so as we could ask her questions regarding the menu (food allergy), then we had to wait again for drink and again for her to take the order. She couldn't even be bothered to crack a smile all night. She made us feel like we were a chore for her to deal with all night. It was awful and I didn't want to be there. The service ruined my experience at this restaurant and I would NEVER want to come back and be treated like that again. Especially when spending well over $250 on a meal! I do have to say that the food was delicious. The veal stuffed calamari appy was really nice. I ordered the 12oz peppercorn steak. It was delicious and cooked med-rare as ordered. The veg and purees were lovely and the peppercorn sauce for the steak was nice. My hubby ordered the duck and gnocchi. I do have to note that the cutlery was terrible. The knives that they give you simply don't work. I had to actually give up half way through my steak and have my husband cut up my food for me because my knife couldn't cut it. He could barely cut it. He could barely cut his duck with his own knife (he's a chef so he clearly knows how to use a knife). The funny thing was that the meat wasn't even tough, it was lovely it was just like trying to cut with the world's dullest butter knife. The gewurztraminer that we ordered was really lovely. The woman that served us the wine (not sure if she was a sommelier) was great, friendly and super personable. I would probably not go back again simply because the service standard is more on par for a Denny's than High End and I don't enjoy having to fight with the food on my plate when trying to eat. This restaurant most definitely fell short on every expection that I had for it, except for the food itself.
My favorite restaurant in Vancouver BC Canada! I drive form Seattle to Vancouver for this place! Can’t wait to go back! Excellent food, beautiful place, great ambiance! The food is so good here, I could eat at this place three times a day! My favorite is breakfast or brunch! But dinner is great also, of course! The Belgian waffles are a must, with all the special sauces to choose from. Coffee is great and freshly squeezed orange juice is a must for breakfast. They have so many choices for cocktails, beer and wine that are just fabulous, kombuchas, hot drinks and ciders. This is a Belgian restaurant, so if you like beer you’re in the right place. You have to try this place, you won’t be disappointed! You will fall in love with it like I did and look forward to going back for many years to come!
Service
I cannot recommend this place enough. It's been two months since my trip to Vancouver, and I still think about the Mussels on a regular basis (get the Congolaise, they are phenomenal). Literally the best Mussels I've ever had. Wine selection is huge, and service is great, with lots of recommendations given and questions answered. I also highly recommend the Canard et Gnocchi. Flavors are to die for, not to mention the presentation of all meals are top notch. Chambar is definitely a place I would recommend, as well as return as soon as possible!
Honestly the food was really good but our server, Peter K didn't seem to like us very much. He was great to the tables around us but after we got our first drink he disappeared, didn't ask us how our food was, didn't ask if we wanted more drinks, didn't ask if we wanted anything after desert... Just plopped our bill on the table without clearing our plates. Food is amazing but this was a horrible service experience. Was really excited to come here after a friends recommendation but likely won't recommend or return again.
Elegant atmosphere. I had one of the best kriek beers I've ever had! Great service and delicious food.
Happy to make it back in after hiding at home for most of the past 18 months! Fun atmosphere, excellence without stuffiness; Magnificent Mussels as always (we had the Coquette) and Divine Desserts:) Aurell, the Manager, is greatness. Will be in again soon!
I went for brunch to chambar restaurant. The service and the ambience is excellent! Nothing wrong with it. I just personally I think it deserves to be a mediocre restaurant, just not for my tongue somehow. Love the healthy brunch though and especially the gaufre à la truite; I think its the best from all! What I hate most unfortunately is the waffle because it is soggy. I think it would be better if the waffle is crispier. In summary, I would recommend people to come and try it! The non brunch food seems better than the brunch though!
Amazing beer selection, tap and bottles! I highly recommend their venison, my favorite in Vancouver! Good place to organize work or personal events, the staff is super accommodating. A bit on the pricier side, but it's worth it!
This place had a very cool vibe, the waitress was extremely nice and clearly new everything about the food. She gave excellent explanation of every food we had asked. As for the food, the foie gras with french toast was a good light start to the meal. Next I had the curry prawns which was delicious, it had so much flavor and I didn't want to share it. Lastly I had the tomato mussels which also very delicious, the fries made the difference but overall a great meal.
I visited this restaurant twice. I will say it is one of the best western restaurants I have visited(I normally don't go to high class restaurants because I cannot afford them). It is so beautiful with very good services. Both of these two times I ordered Mussels (different flavours). They all taste good. Mussel is their specialist, and you can see many of their customers order this dish. Tomato spicy sauce mussels definitely suits people who love spicy, but I prefer the cream sauce with bacon one. The cream sauce is the light liquid kind, not the thick one, and the bacon inside is high quality bacon, I just cannot stop drinking the sauce, I wish they have spaghetti as a option with this sauce.
Excellent restaurant with beautiful interior design, interesting menu items (although not a large selection to choose from), and great beer, wine and cocktail options. The dishes are served in spectacular photo-worthy ways, and the food is consistently flavourful. It can be tricky to get a spot, and I recommend booking a reservation because many tables are unfortunately uncomfortable or placed in awkward positions around the restaurant forcing servers to constantly be dashing by you.
Have you been working out because your “mussels” look huge! You can’t visit Chambar without having their incredible mussels and frites. I had their congolaise which is cooked in a beautiful tomato coconut cream with chili, cilantro and smoked chili. It’s perfect on a rainy Vancouver night! We did start of with their Foie de Canard Villa Lorraine which was incredible. Spiced foie gras terrine with truffled brioche French toast…. Sooo good! We also had their charcuterie and their Proscuitto wrapped dates was next level! Of course we ordered all their desserts! Chocolate fume, le cheesecake spice, gateau impossible au caramel and croustillant aux pommels. First place goes to their filo wrapped bourbon apples accompanied with their oat ice cream. Loved their chocolate Belgian beer cake too! Can’t wait to “work out” here again!
Dinner
The menu is not huge, but is certainly diversified and all the dishes look great. At 11:30 they switch between breakfast & lunch, so if you get there a few minutes earlier you could try both menus.
Amazing food. Our server was very polite and professional which I find very rare to encounter these days. The albacore tuna is a must have! Personally never been a fan of mussels but their steamed mussels are just so tender and delicious. My favorite was the duck salad with gnocchi. Just melts in your mouth. Best gnocchi I've ever had. Already planning my next trip back to Chambar for all these amazing Belgium dishes.
Brunch and dinner are always amazing. For dinner, their modules frites are a go to, but bunch with Belgian waffles also does not disappoint.
Perfect place for a morning cocktail. I had the; A Suffering Bastard: Glenlivet founder’s Reserve, beefeater gin, roasted pineapple purée, fresh lime juice, housemade ginger beer and Peychaud’s bitters
The food was good.. interesting flavour palette and small portion sizes for the price tag, but.. “good”. The service was exceptional and the waiters were very helpful and knowledgeable. Worth the experience but will not be returning.
This is a very well-rounded place. Thoughtfully crafted dishes and drinks. Romantic ambience. And attentive service. It's on a few "best places to eat in Vancouver" lists and I can see why.
Went to Chambar for brunch a few weeks ago. The staff was friendly but the entrees were just average (on the salty side) and the belgian waffles were even more disappointing (cold and too soft). They used to be very good so not sure what happened this time.
Best cocktails and mussels in Vancouver. A must see spot for cocktail connoisseurs and foodies alike.

Service
Four of us for dinner last night to celebrate my birthday and it started off with issues and kept going. Drink order was wrong for one of our guests, they brought the wrong order for dinner for one of our guests and we had to wait approx 15-20 minutes for the right dinner. She started her meal as the rest of us were finishing. The Manger apologized which was nice however when we asked him about what the garnish was on the meal he didn't know and had to ask the chef. Come on know your menu! My meal (fish) tasted awful and I couldn't eat it. The server said she would tell the manager. We never saw him again and our bill was not adjusted at all. Terrible experience.
One of the good choices for dinner.
Great food. Nice atmosphere. Red wine kept too chilled. Helpful staff. Bit pricey
Waffle was great, lavender dip for that was even better. Fricassee was pretty tender as well. Mussels on point
Great first experience at Chambar. Visited for brunch and was awesome. The entrance was a little strange and awkward as there's a massive curtain right at the front door. Once through that, the space was open, beautiful and well decorated. Food was fantastic and the service was spot on. Price was reasonable given the size of the restaurant, location and quality of food!
It's a great place. The wait is really long so you have to reserve a spot ahead of time, even a day before. The food is really good but I wish it was bigger portions. The service here is great, our server was really nice and even brought a rose because it was my friend's birthday.
A gorgeous place for dinner and a date. Our server (forgot her name) was a lovely Korean Canadian lady. She was new but pretty good and friendly. I loved the charcuterie and Autumn salad for starters. Mussels are to die for especially the soup. I recommend trying lamb shank for mains if you like spices and curries. It's 6 hours braised shank that won't let you down. It was a perfect night with lovely people from the chamber restaurant.
Food here is great, and so is their cocktail. We live nearby, so this is our go-to place for a nice treat. We probably everything on the menu, and let's just say that everything is good. Even the cocktail that's paired with blue cheese. Yup, you read that right. And it's my personal favorite.

The menu is pretty substantial and everything was very good. The salted caramel ice coffee is also incredible.
Busy restaurant. Luckily we made a reservation and were sit within 15 minutes after arrival. Vibrant atmosphere. Attentive servers. Short wait for food. OK food (short ribs were on the salty side and were drown in sauce). Waffles made in house.
Service
I visited here on a recent trip to Vancouver by recommendation. I was not disappointed, apart from having to wait for a table. I ordered the waffle with white choc, pistachio and rose water and it was delicious. I do like plain food but pushed myself this time. The different flavours are subtle but you can still taste them. I also ordered the fricasse ribs. The meat just melted in my mouth. I can't wait to go back! The service is good. Not too slow, not to quick to get you out the door to seat another table. I highly recommend visiting here!
A lot of flavors to try here on the brunch menu. The Gaufre au Saumon came with a savory waffle, yuzu dill hollandaise, fresh pea tips and an “Ocean Wise” rating by the Vancouver Aquarium as an “ocean-friendly seafood choice”.
Wow. Celebrated a special birthday here tonight and it was magical. The service is one of the best I have ever experienced, the ambience is warm and romantic, the cocktails are divine and the meals are delicious. Our server was Michael and our manager (whose name I have unfortunately forgotten) were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to make the birthday night one for the books. Absolutely recommend this place for anyone looking to treat themselves!
I expected more from their brunch. Too much of it was made before hand and was cold. Same with the waffles. Good service and great location however. I just wish the food was better. The dish we had was pretty overpowering and not at all balanced too. Super disappointed.
Oh wow! Come here and get the eggs! ???? this place is always busy and for good reason - every aspect of this dining experience is amazing! The fit out is modern, fresh and spacious - despite how busy it is, you don’t feel cramped or rushed. The coffee is great but the food - WOW - in and around the mouth! Amazing.
Still one of the best food experiences in Vancouver. Stellar service, fabulous Belgian beer selection, and unusually generous portions for such quality food.
I wouldn’t recommend this place for brunch- as it doesn’t seem to be their strong suit, but later in the day, the food quality transforms. I wouldn’t say there is a particular “Belgian feel” to the place or menu- more French, North African, and Asian fusion elements in fact. The atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly, laid back and attentive and the patio is heated. Try their mussels congolaise (best I’ve had in this city) or the ratatouille. This place is one of my favourites!
Sadly this place has changed since COVID. Not as great, the food and service, we used to love dining here. We pay a pretty penny and expect it to be worth it.
Lovely food with high quality ingredients, dishes are platted armoniously and nice, they take care of the flavor on each preparation, the place is comfortable, has a nice view through back window, wine menu is very good with many options to mirrage your dinner, good service from waiter staff.
modern but cozy atmosphere, romantic ambiance, well-curated menus for both food and drinks, incredibly attentive service didn’t get to take photos of everything but we had the foie gras terrine, the beet carpaccio, congolaise mussels, lamb tagine, arctic char and duck with gnocchi (highly recommend the last two! absolutely delicious)
Dinner
Mussels are worth going for. Great Value and Taste always has me coming back for more. If you order the Mussels get the sourdough on the side, one order is enough because they also come with fries! Cons; Beer selection could be better but it’s more of a cocktail place. My go to is a dirty martini but not here. They use castelvetrano olives with the pits and twice now they have tasted like blue cheese.
Food was very good, good enough to make up for the weak service. Forgot my friends ceaser order once, brought me and my friends food at the same time but my other friends mussels took another 10+ minutes before they arrived. It was just all round really frustrating and poor. Coffee and food was great enough to make up for it though.

Ambience 10/10 food.. disappeared too fast to take pics ???? drinks 10/10
I have frequented Chambar over the years since they first opened and it’s always been good but my last experience was the best yet. Our server, Pete was charming, attentive and went above and beyond to make the start to our evening amazing (all while making it look effortless). The moules were delicious. I highly recommend and hope to be back soon!
Very bad experience at Chambar. I had the risotto as a main dish, it tasted nothing but overcooked rice and water. There was even extra water in the plate like a soup. No salt, no butter, no cheese taste. Awful, I never ate such a disgusting risotto before. Honestly not better than an Air Canada flight meal. Appetizer and dessert were correct but could have been better. Very good and polite service though. The 2-stars are only for the waitress, otherwise, this place deserves no star at all.
Amazing food and service. The ambience is intimate but friendly. Good was unique and very hot.
We went for Dine Out Vancouver and had a lovely experience. We ordered the Crêpe Marocaine and the scallops as starters and the Moules Frites Congolaise and flank steak as our mains. For dessert we had chocolate custard and carrots cake. They had a good selection of beer and there was a nice ambience downstairs where we were seated. The mussels were a very generous portion and easily shareable between two people. Very delicious!
Had a gorgeous brunch here with a group of friends yesterday. Everything from food, service and drinks were top quality and would definitely recommend to a friend. We enjoyed mulled wines after our food and a great chat with Conor who gave us a list of places to check out to ensure we had an enjoyable day once we left. We hear he makes great hot sauce too!!
One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver!
The restaurant was fancy and receptionist helped us to get a table for 7 people. We went there at 9 am for breakfast. First, the menu was hard to read and it didn't have any pictures. Our orders came after 50 minutes. Our servers were freindly and unfortunately very slow. My order didn't have any bread, and it came with a sweet piece of cake as I attended the picture. It was good however they charged for bread, which we didn't know and I believe it was weird. At the end, after we complained about extra charge of bread, they waived it, and brought some chocolate for their delay. Overall, I think this is a location just for one time try, as your last option to choose. Thank you
Chambar has to be one of my favourite restaurants. Amazing attentive staff and always a good time. Consider Chambar for your next dining experience.
My all time favourite mussel go-to restaurant. Stylish and vibrant. Foie gras portion went down 30% and they don't serve breads any more. But congolaise is still the best.
Service was great! Burger was nicely seasoned, good ratio of meat to bun. Salad was a tad small. Wooden serving block out of place in fine dining restaurant. Edit: perhaps wooden block wasn’t such a bad thing as it seems to be the trend at other places too
Today was the second time we came in 4 days. We ordered the Fricasse again. The coffees were good. Interesting infused flavours in their food and drinks. I thought the waffles could be better though. Food is beautifully presented, nice ambience, good service. I would recommend breakfast and brunch here.
Great food and good selection of beers/drinks
Came here for dinner to celebrate my birthday and absolutely enjoyed every part of the experience, the ambience, food and service was all amazing. Gordon took care of us and made it super special. I really enjoyed the unique cocktail list they offer, literally some of the very few great drinks I’ve had in this city.
This was a pretty high quality restaurant. Good food, great server, decent price for the quality. The picture is the view from the building.
Nice decor and spacious. The food was very average, nothing stood out and the dishes were completely forgettable. Someone in the group wanted the chocolate dessert to go and placed the order. Waitress came back, said the chocolate was actually not available and recommended a lemon dessert, as it's the same price. Upon handing us the bill and the debit machine, she casually mentioned the lemon one was actually $0.27 cents extra so it would be reflected on the final bill. We were all a bit taken back by that, here we dropped $300 on dinner, gave us a dessert we initially didn't want, told us it was the same price, gained a verbal agreement, then had the nerve to not have the honor, kindness, or courtesy to waive the $0.25? She was going to get a 18-20% tip but managed to widdle it down to 10% after that because that's how disparaged we felt. On the way out our waitress ignored us when a guest said thank you and goodbye and in turn gave us a dirty look. Bad taste in our mouths leaving the Chambar.
Love love love this place! This was such a random find! I was actually looking to go in the Jam cafe which is right next to this place, but due to long wait lines, I just strolled into this gem of a place. I really like that we have an option to reserve a table here. Brunch was classic waffles and a lassi drink which was interesting. Customer service is top notch. I will be back again for more!
The food was delicious and the patio was just beautiful but I have to give very low score to our waitress. she was not attentive at all. It took us long time to order and quite some time to get the bill. (perhaps not enough staff) we ordered one main from brunch menu to share and two waffles but had to wait and finally to ask another staff to bring us 2 plates.
Getting seated at Chambar was an interesting experience... There's no good place to stand when waiting for a table. We were told to not stand by the hostess booth and to stand by the wall instead, which turns out is the closet. So every time someone left, we had to move and move again. Then the table that was supposed to be ours was given to another party by accident. Who later was asked to be reseated somewhere else and so there was a big mix up and delay in getting us seated. There's no hook under the bar tables to put your purse, so that was annoying as there's no backing to the stool either, so we had to hug onto our purses. The food is much more expensive than I had recalled/expected. The mussels were only ok - not a huge fan of the sauce. The Canard et Gnocchi (Spice rubbed duck breast, gnocchi, goat cheese, celery & apple salad, hazelnuts, sauce bigarade) was really good tho, a bit salty but the taste was good. Will probably not be back anytime soon though.
Great service and high quality food!

Amazing service. Great atmosphere. Everything was very lovely! Thank you Chambar team!
Absolutely love it, every bite of each dish, like no other place. Enjoy! Duck and tuna were delicious, and the crudite veggie plate.
We saw the long line up the street for an alternate breakfast location and decided to come to Chambar instead. This was a great decision! Welcoming, attentive staff and a mix and match option for your gourmet breakfast or brunch. The waffles are so delicious and the good coffee kept on coming!

Chamber offers great breakfast. I enjoyed the skillet and waffles. The service was pleasant.
Today was the best all around dining experience I have had in Vancouver. I really mean it. The entire time we were there Sky, our server, was an absolute rock star. From the way he explained the menu to how he help guide our choices for what we should order was amazing. He really cared about us and our time we spent there. The baristas made fabulous coffee and the food was outstanding. I really want to shout Sky out for going above and beyond this morning with our table. He kept us laughing and smiling and was just a real delight to talk with. I’m so glad we skipped Jam Cafe and checked this place out for brunch. The whole environment was like I was royalty while there. Something you don’t get often anymore #civildebauchery. I could go on and on about how wonderful it was but it wouldn’t do it justice. Can’t wait to be back again and try a new item from the menu :) Keep on killing the game Chambar. You really know how to make customers feel like family and that’s how you keep people coming back. 10/10. Gold stars.

We had Sunday brunch which was awesome. Our waffles were a bit slow in coming but didn't really mind. Without prompting, the floor manager came to the table and apologized and comped the waffles. Our waitress was very friendly and professional. I don't give out 5 stars very easily but the team at Chambar deserves it.

Great ambiance, beautiful decor, and delicious food. Came for light brunch and the Belgian waffles and dipping sauces! I got the pistachio-rose water. YUM!!
I visited Chambar for Dine out Vancouver 2020! Nice and beautiful interior and friendly server:) Food was great! I didnot expect the large portion but it was quite a lot.
Good dine out menu. Starters were decent, especially the scallops. Gnocci was very nice given that I don't usually like gnocci. Desserts were so so. Portions were good. Cool ambience in restaurant and bar. Would return.
Vegetarians have limited options. Their waffles are definitely one of the best. A huge place so easy to find seating even during rush hour. There are veggie substitutes available so ask since they are not on the menu. I had the Omelette with Asparagus, cream, honey and mushrooms - was pretty unique combo, I liked it!
Food is fantastic and the service is great ????. It's good to dine out again.
This was my first time at this restaurant when I was there for a family brunch. It was a great experience! The restaurant is clean and bright. We had a friendly and prompt waiter. The menu was extensive and the food was delicious. I enjoyed their famous waffles while others in my party had full breakfasts. It was all beautifully presented with interesting flavors. I will definitely be back!
My favorite restaurant in the lower mainland by far. It's our second time around at Chambar and it didn't disappoint. We didn't make a reservation for Valentine's day as we were just heading out to the Canucks game. We planned to arrive just before the busy dinner hour around 4:45 pm...Staff were accommodating, and helpful. Our server, Peter, was amazing..... Great sense of humor and he knew the menu/drinks inside out. We ordered a drink not on the menu and he knew exactly what we wanted. The food was exceptional... we ordered the charcuterie plate (half meat/half cheese) from the happy hour menu and it had a balance of all the right flavours of nuts, meat, & brie cheese. We ordered the Congolaise Moules Frites (mussels) and it was a party of flavors. It wasn't too spicy with the smoked chili, and just the right amount of muscles to share between two people. Highly recommend.
Lovely food, VERY LOUD - not a great place for an intimate dinner. If you do go expect to yell and expect to wait. Very long waits for drinks and very long waits for food. Service was very good and attentive IF you can hear them or any suggestions they make. Probably won't go again even though the food was decent. Hard to enjoy yourself when your yelling at table mates, can't hear knowledgeable staffs suggestions and have to wait so long. I had to leave before dessert to make it home in time for my sitter and I left a 5 hr window for dinner....
The food there was amazing. The menu had a decent selection and dishes were put together nicely. Service was excellent from our greeter to our server. Mike our server made our experience enjoyable and gave us the right recommendations. Will definitely be back to try more.
This was honestly one of the best dining experiences I've ever had in my life. Upon walking in, we were warmly greeted and asked as to which seats we preferred the most. Ended up sitting right in front of the kitchen. Our server was delightful. Her wine recommendations stood their course for the duration of the appetizers and the main event. First came the asparagus salad. Ruled. Second came the braised duck and rhubarb. Ruled. I honestly would have eaten anything in front of my face in this holy place. For my main, I chose the steak. Now, I've been to The Keg, and a lot of "steak houses" in my life, but nothing has ever been as satisfying and special as this cut of beef. My partner and I held down our table for three hours. I encourage you to block of your calendar for a night and go experience food as it should be. Simple yet highly complex in between bites taken.
Take your appetite and have a fantastic time! We are lucky to live close enough to visit Chambar several times a month, most often for brunch at the weekends. Sitting outside in the summer is such a treat. The food is always good, and the menu includes a lot of variety to cater to every taste. The lavender milk chocolate waffle is pure heaven! For dinner, you really cannot go past the Congolese mussels or the lamb tangine. Both are excellent and full of flavour. The atmosphere is wonderful, I love the feeling of roominess, and the service is always outstanding.
Great ambiance. Food was good. We got Paella with curried orzo, chorizo sausage, and charred tomato salsa. Then I had a waffle with Raspberry Caramel, which was delicious. overall a good dishes. Parking was free for 2 hours underground, which was great. Recommended!

Really beautiful ambience. Food quality very good. A little pricey. Service good. We went here for lunch. We had the mussels and tuna ahi salad, also a Belgian waffle with raspberry caramel which was the best waffle I've ever had. It's much bigger than when I last went. Very rustic and cool vibe. Beautiful brick and wood decor. Will return.
Favourite place for Belgium food. Extensive list of Belgium beer, and nice list of drinks.
Came here for brunch with my partner last Saturday around 12:30pm, we both loved the food. I've been many times before but am always blown away each time. The staff were kind, and we were told a 45 minute wait, 10 minutes later I got a text to get back! That was amazing. The corn bread was delicious, the waffles perfect as usual, and the sausages were so good! We completely finished everything on our plates. The staff are very kind and understanding, as well as make you feel like a valued patron. Will definitely be coming in for dinner soon, too. I missed dining at Chambar. As a side note, I feel like you can dress up here, or dine more casually. Love the atmosphere you've created and the environment, and the food!! Thank you again, it was a great time!
Hands down by favourite go-to restaurant by far. The food is amazing (especially, Moules Frites), the drinks selection is great (I especially love their Belgian beer), the ambience is outstanding and the service is really good too. My wife and I have been to this place quite a few times and this place always delivers! And did I mention that it's not too expensive as well, considering what you get for your buck. Love it!!!
nice restaurant. will back for sure
Love the atmosphere here. I'm not a big seafood person but the mussels in white cream sauce were delicious (tip-order bread to soak up the broth!). My husband ordered the lamb tagine and I couldn't decide which one was more delicious. Loved the experience and will be back.
I’ve been here couple of time in past few years. Drinks are good and service is nice and friendly. However not impressed by food. I ordered braised beef last night and I found it too salty. Dish was definitely lacking some fresh ingredients to cut the saltiness and richness of the meet. My girlfriend ordered lamb shank. It was overly salty and sweet at the same time. Their Arctic char dish that other friends ordered were good.
This place is so good we came by for both brunch and dinner! Their breakfast is very tasty, the plates aren’t too big so you dont leave too tired. For dinner- I recommend you skip right to the muscles!! No need to ever order anything else, it is that good. Also, skip the charcuterie, not that great
Really tasty food, servings tend to be a bit smaller for a bit high prices
Very romantic ambiance at this restaurant! The service was excellent. Our waitress was extremely nice. We got the cheese plate to start, which was alright, not too exciting. And then we got the Canard et Gnocchi and the Tagine, which were both delicious. The gnocchi was soft and flavorful, the duck was fatty and savory, the pesto and fresh ingredients were a perfect light balance to the heavier ingredients. The lamb shank was expertly spiced and complemented by the bok choy and couscous. Mixed drinks were delicious!
Enjoyed a lovely brunch here. My partner ordered a vegan paella and I had the flank! It was very delicious, I wish I had added a fried egg to top it off! The potatoes were so good!
