They have live music. Good seafood, great service. Everything was fresh, fish was cooked perfectly and the ambiance is great. They also had a wonderful wine selection. We ordered some mussels to start, baked garlic prawns appetizer, the salmon fish special, and a bottle of red wine.

Lets be clear, the 2 star rating does not reflect the food or awesome vibe this little bar has, as we had planned to spend the rest of our evening here vs bar hopping as we loved the ambiance and the amazing live music! The 2 star review reflects the service unfortunately. I am a main night manager and bartender at Earl's and have been for the past 8 years, and have worked in the industry for over 12. I know the value of good people and how they can taint the perspective of any establishment based on their attitude, thus why I am being so critical. My boyfriend and I decided to try Cavo after paper kites at the vogue and instantly loved the vibe and atmosphere!! The Manager (lovely gentleman in the light blue shirt) was wonderful and welcoming, and started our night off wonderfully and also ended our night on a good note! Our server was " an order taker". No smile, humor or interest in us whatsoever. She did even attempt to create a conversation with us, or No big deal, we were having a good time regardless. The food was delicious and came out perfectly as were thea drinks! We finished our meal ( which was not quality checked, nor were the drinks) and were really enjoying the live musician and had decided that we would post up here for the rest of the evening. I was on my second drink (half full) when a new couple sat down beside us ( probably a good 10 mins after our plates were cleared). The new couple got drinks, chilled out, finished, paid and left and our server had still not been to our table. We watched her make herself a tea, go into the back for a while, gossip to the other girls, check her phone in front of us, do roll ups, greet another 2 tables, and do payments all while walking directly past us to the micros. She would glance at our table and then wander away, so much so that we joked about her thinking that we had already paid. We waited an hour for her to come over to our table. NO JOKE. We had planned to have at least a few more cocktails and a dessert but when she finally came over after an hour to fill our water, she didn't even ask if we required anything else and would have walked away without a word if we hadn't asked for the bill. Best part is that after we paid, we literally heard her talking about the lack of tip we left to the dark haired server who called us rude. We were standing right behind them, and heard the entire conversation. When I explained/called them out on the tip and overhearing them complain about us, she literally said "kay bye" to my face and turned away. No apology or expression whatsoever. I'm not sure if the red haired, white shirt and dark wash jeans girl is new, was having a bad day, doesn't like working there or interacting with guests but from experience I would not let someone with that attitude and utter disregard for customer service and general politeness represent my brand, especially in an amazing place such as this.

Good friend visiting from out of town and wanted to show them a good time. Hopped in for a quick round of drinks. Had one of the worst servers in Vancouver Martina: unfriendly, grumpy, felt like she didn't care to serve us. Asked for bills right away and they didn't come for 15+ mins. I wish I could give this place a better rating but after my experience on Saturday night I unfortunately don't have a choice. First I would like to say the service was great, we were greeted immediately after walking in and our server was very friendly. I love the atmosphere that Cavo provides, it's a breath of fresh air from a lot of the restaurant bars on Granville and the food and drink options are plentiful. We were seated at a table close to the door where at the time we weren't aware was in front of where the DJ performs as she hadn't set up yet. We ordered our drinks and food which took a while (completely understandable as it was very busy when we were there). When our food did arrive the DJ started setting up and about a quarter of the way through our meals the DJ started playing the music so incredibly loud my whole group was literally wincing in pain and couldn't even hold a conversation without almost screaming at eachother. It didn't help that the music the DJ was playing was terrible and not fit for the lounge vibe Cavo is going for, I felt like I was at a highschool graduation party. We brought this up to our server and she offered to change tables for us as soon as one opens up and we tried to wait it out but the music the DJ was playing was getting progressively worse and worse (and louder too) to the point we decided to call it quits and pay our bill. I'm really disappointed that this was my experience with Cavo, I'm sure if they fix the live music situation I would be happy to give it another chance.

Run of a mill pub (rather than 'bar and kitchen'). The menu is true pub and nothing to write home about. My friend whom I went with got food poisoning. It is just conveniently located to the theatres. The service was otherwise fine. Was asked to move tables mid-meal as a larger group came in that they didn't know about (I am not sure if this means there was a larger group who now came in needing the table or if they had previously made a reservation that the team didn't know about). But they did comp us with another round of drinks given we were asked to move literally, mid-meal. I don't think either of us plan on going back.

This is a great all around casual bar. They do live music, they do happy hour, they do late night food, they do GOOD food, they do social vibes. This is one of my go to places. From the radio bartenders to the unique drop in street entertainment, you won't be disappointed. It's small tho so......come early, be patient and respect the hard working staff. Oh, and order the nachos or pizza!!

For about six years or so I have been stopping by occasionally during happy hour for a few drinks and one or two food items off the happy hour menu, which are allways good. In addition to the little front patio they have now built a patio on the steet and also have a large patio at the back, which few people know about. This is a good thing during these Covid restrictions. This past sunday was a lovely sunny cool day and my wife and I opted for the street patio. It was certainly entertaining watching all the activity happening on the Granville Strip. Their main food menue has some tasty looking items and I want to get back there to try the lamb dish.

This was the worst service I had experienced ever... I work in the service industry and know what it's all about, ie. can sympthize when I see if a server is overwhelmed, understaffed, etc. That being said I felt uncomfortable as soon as we sat down because the two servers on didn't even greet us with a Hello.. We were grabbing a bite to eat before we ventured on to watch a concert later that evening. Our drinks took 20 minutes after we ordered them. And then another 20 when we got a second round. We asked for Yam fries to start which we never got till the very end. Our mains took an hour to reach the table. And halfway through our meals, my friend asked about the yam fries. Our server without asking said "I'll be right back", then came back with the yam fries when we were almost done our mains. We said no sorry we don't actually want those, it's too late now. To which our server replied " why didn't you tell me that?". I responded saying if you didn't run away we would have told you we didn't want them." We just wanted to make sure we weren't being charged for Yam fries that we never received. The whole time the server didn't even smile, slapped our drinks down, made us feel like we were such a hassle for her. I understand you were busy but we were kind to you regardless. She could have said "Hey guys I'm sorry it's taking so long.. we don't have enough staff", or, "we have a lot going on right now." I would have said "That's no problem at all, dont worry " Instead she came across as very rude and irritated. The food wasn't even worth the wait or the disrespectful server that we had. I will not be returning. I suggest finding another place next door where they will treat you like a paying customer.

I would give 4.5 stars if I could. We came here for a quick bite and drinks, I had the calamari entree and the cocktail “sex and the city”. While the food and drinks were great, and the place looked neat and cozy, I think the quality of service could use a bit more improving, nothing major but the waitress didn’t say hi to us or anything, just dropped the menus and then came back and asked what we wanted. Pretty simple, but other than that everything was very good.

Came here a bit ago and the service was great. The waitress was friendly and so was the bartender. The food was good for a decent price but the drinks are ridiculous. I paid $15 for malibu and pineapple in a small glass. I almost fell over when they told me the price. The waitress (Even though she was super friendly and helpful) struggled to figure out simple math because the machine was not working. I ended up having to do it for her. Still, would come back for the food and friendly staff.

Hard to dislike but also hard to get too excited about. My farmers salad was reasonable (the ingredients seemed fresh and it was well seasoned) and the seafood pasta nice enough but both lacked any sort of spark. It's a solid, safe choice at average prices which will suit many people just fine.

I don’t know how many times I have visited Cavo tbh, it started when I was in the line for studio and me and my friends got hungry and went inside Cavo !!!! Their burgers are so good. I wish they fried pickles but one can’t have everything. I love the bartender, and oh they also have cool music. If you’re a 90’s kid you’ll love their music choice. All in all good place, servers are good most of the time, sometimes they can be a little rude if you take your time ngl because they want you to be ready to order when they come to your table which is understandable. All in all good place with some good drink choices

Horrible service, waiter yelled and kicked me and my boyfriend out all because I had left over food from another restraunt on the table in a box. The blonde server screamed in front of many people on Granville and in the restaurant. The food was just put on the table and she kicked us out just before I could put the bite in my mouth. Worst service, I wish I could rate it lower than one star. Never again will come back and I reccomend you do the same. Went to speakeasy 2 doors down after that humiliating incident and it was the BEST SERVICE EVER.

This restaurant is a perfect place for any meal. They have amazing breakfast options that are great for brunch, and entrees for lunch and dinner. There's also a good variety of sharing options if wished so. All the dishes I've ordered are really well made with fresh ingredients. All the dishes are worth the price for the taste and quality. They fill you right up! I was very sastisified both times that I've been. I highly recommend trying this restaurant with friends.

This place is good. The music is good. BUT!! the server took adventage of us being drunk when we ask for 20 shots tequila. The server never ask what kind of tequila, we did not expect them to put one of the most expensive tequila from the menu on our bill (Don Julio 22$ per shot). Regardless of gratitude being circled on the bill, the waitress failed to inform us of about the gratitude without our full acknowledgement of there being gratitude added on the bill at all.

Was pleasantly surprised to stumble into Cavo on Saturday night. We were looking for somewhere to relax, have a drink and some appies. The service was quick, the late night food was great, but what really sold it was the DJ. The music was seriously on point. From jackin house remixes of classic rnb songs, to great underground hip hop tunes, this place is bumping on a Saturday. Will definitely be back.

The truffle fries were horrible, litterally like plain fries, nothing special. Husband found a hair on steak . The service was okay. Would not return.

This place was recommended to us by a staff member at another establishment as being one of the best places to get Greek food. We were very disappointed as we had walked here from English Bay only to find that it was not really Greek at all but a mixed bag. The food was not great. We had calamari which had no flavor and a tiny dish of dip that tasted like straight mayonnaise. The salt and pepper chicken wings were over cooked and overly salty. The chicken sovlacki was OK but it was served with French fries. How Greek is that? ? There are plenty of better places to eat in Vancouver.

I felt that I wasn't really welcome there- like the hostess and servers didn't want to be there and didn't want the customers to be there. The hostess was very curt when she sat us, and did other weird small things, like randomly take the drink menu off our table halfway through our stay there without saying anything. I would say "thanks" when they dropped off food or cleared my plates, but they never would acknowledge that I said anything- there was no "you're welcome", "no problem", or even a smile. I thought that was weird and a little off-putting. The server was nice when I talked to her about something off topic, but overall her service was very curt as well.

This review solely based on service. I have NEVER experienced such defensiveness, such unprofessionalism (in handling complaints and critism) from anybody until Hayley (or Hailey), our server last night. We were a bunch of ladies who got together because our friend was in town from Amsterdam. We wanted to have a great time and try a different restaurant. The attitude of this server was unreal. Granted the venue was quite loud, but it was her tone and choice of words that set the mood right off. When you are expected to tip an 18% gratuity, you better damn be on top of your game. We were reluctant to tip her that much, but as good paying customers, we ended up coughing up that tip. We set her aside and told her that we were not happy with her service. And still, she was defensive about the feedback. She is clearly in the wrong business. Hayley (Hailey), you are an embarrassment to the hospitality and service business. Your service etiquette is as bad as it gets. I've had better service from workers from fast-food and other restaurants. Management: please do something about her and that snappy attitude of hers. The food was fantastic and the venue was excellent. Service should be your number one priority. This experience simply wasn't.

It was my first time there, tonight, but CERTAINLY WON'T be my LAST! We shared the mussels in Thai chili sauce which, honestly, I'm not a fan of but, the mussels were very fresh and perfectly done. I prefer a white wine and garlic sauce but that's just my taste. The paella though, was absolutely delicious. It had very generous amounts of shrimp, prawns, mussels, scallops, and chorizo with a perfect blend of vegetables in a very, very tasty sauce over perfectly prepared rice. Paired with the Italian Pinot Grigio, it was one of the best meals I've had in quite a while. Carrie, our server, was very friendly and professional. The ambiance was good and somewhat upbeat. All in all, a great dining experience at a reasonable cost. Bathrooms could have been cleaner, but the dining was superb.

Just got recommended this place by a friend's aunt and we decided to go here for little dinner before a concert. They were so accommodating and the fact that we ended up getting seats in the patio despite how initially busy they were. Super friendly waiters, and the food was good! Relaxed Bar/Dance Floor Drinks are priced about the same as most Bars on the Granville strip, food is alright if you have a taste for spice as most of the non seafood dishes have a bit too much chili spice for my liking, overall the staff are very friendly and the General Manager went out of his way to introduce himself and ask for feedback which is a plus.

We returned today, sadly the same girl was not there and the acknowledgment and service was Dreadful!!!!!! A tall dark haired girl acknowledged our arrival, allowed us to seat ourselves and promptly ignored our existence for 20 minutes! Served everyone that followed behind us! Extremely disappointing, dreadful service and the waitress that stepped up made up for the rude server that clearly wanted to spend her time at the bar flirting and making cocktails! So disappointed... This used to be my favorite place. I've been coming here with friends and family since I moved to Vancouver two years ago. My boyfriend and I come here EVERY Sunday. Most of the waitresses are absolutely fabulous, until recently. There is a pair of blondes that do not know the difference between club soda and tonic water.. We have had this happen a few times and other girls (Hailey and Bruna) have replaced our drinks and made them wonderful .However, these other girls became very defensive when we complained about the mixup and were absolutely adamant about us being wrong and proceeded to ignore our table. We actually had to get up and start walking towards the door before they finally acknowledged us. The food is still great, but the service/bar is so hit and miss now, I'm sadly looking for a new favourite spot.

This was a very interesting spot. We were looking randomly for a place for dinner on Granville Street and came across this spot as the menu looked decent. I felt that the food was very nicely done and the portion sizes were perfect as they weren't too big or too small. I really liked their beer and wine selection as it seemed quite well curated and thought out.service however could have been much better. I found that our waitress was quite inattentive and it took awhile to get our first drink nevermind additional drinks afterwards. The vibe of the place was trendy and a bit upscale and I felt a bit of pretense from the waitress. I think if they could improve their service it would be a top-notch spot for sure.

This has been my Uber Eats go to for the past few weeks. When I first ordered here I wasn’t expecting much. The menu is eclectic with a Mediterranean vibe. It was difficult to pinpoint their focus, so I kept it safe (Caesar Salad). The salad didn’t disappoint and the portion was generous. Since then my husband and I have tried several items from their menu (steak and fries, burger, Mediterranean chicken sandwich) and everything was fantastic! The menus might be a bit everywhere, but they have not disappointed us at all! Highly recommend!!

Tonight I was here with my family. The live music and food was great, but the service was terrible. The staff here have atrocious negative attitudes and will not be receiving a tip from us tonight. We were ignored several times while 2 waitresses stood at the corner of the bar playing with their phones. We waited a long time for our food - nearly 30 minutes from taking our order. Young people like this should not be working in the service industry. We will not be back.

My first time dining here was on the evening of Thursday April 8th and I will not be dining here again. On the back patio, I believe one of the “staff” was celebrating their birthday. No one was abiding by covid safety policies. There were two groups of 6 walking around the restaurant without masks on and literally screaming, jumping around and dancing. They made the atmosphere completely un-enjoyable for everyone around them. Standing in a massive group in front of the bathroom INDOORS without masks on, and blocking the common areas for people to get by. Things like this are the reason these strict policies that we all hate are even in place. I am extremely disappointed with my experience here.

My favorite place on granville street ❤ best food, best service, best prices. the reason i am doing a one star review is beacause id like to bring to light a very inappropriate and common occurance that happens to young waitresses who just want to make a living and dont want to ruffle any feathers with their employers. the other day i saw the owner of the store (a larger man), walk into the resturaunt and grope one of the pretty young waitresses who was working at the computer. he put his hand on her neck and then went down to her lower hip and slightly pulled her closer to him. i know they are friendly with eachother but this seemed odd since the waitress looked uncomfortable. watching this first hand made me realize that this probably goes on at many places and i figured i would do what i could to be a part of the solution. hopefully one day this behaviour wont be a problem anymore

The cavo burger was one of the best ones I've had. Hot wings were good too. Staff was friendly. Music was abit loud though. Do it's hard to talk on Friday night. I guess it's more a DJ bar lounge later in the night. The washrooms are extremely gross. So beware. Bring lots of hand sanitizer and gloves lol the alley is a better choice to go pee.

Must stop by! This must be the best zoo on Granville entertainment district! The food is great, drinks so far are good too, awesome music and the most fun animals in town! lol come and take a look! Pls keep in mind it's 1am on Friday night and the Paella was just amazing!

I mentioned it to my server and she was nice and apologized, but for a $20 souvlaki dish, I felt like a little more compensation was necessary considering the overall prices charged, and for such and almost 'lazy' mistake.

We arrived at this establishment hoping for a quiet drink after work. We walked up to the door and got ready to show our covid passports and a man we passed standing away from the restaraunt came over and made us feel very unwelcome telling us we had to show our vaccine passports, he said next time to come to him first. Mind you he was standing away from the restaraunt talking to his friend. We showed him our passports and he still remained to be rude and unwelcoming! We went out and came back in again and he didn't move from the door almost blocking our way, he just moved his elbow an inch! Made us feel very awkward and uncomfortable. Everything else was great tonight bar this door man.

We wanted a quick place to wait out that line up for the commodore for Carly Rae Jepsen's Concert and wanted to watch the line from the patio to get a quick drink and food. We ordered the Steak & Fries $26 for 8oz with fries. That is a bit over priced. We ordered medium rare steak and came out well done to extra well done. I believe this has to do with the shortage of employees in the retail /restaurant industry. But this is very unacceptable.

This place is very cute and has a good menu. We came on a stat holiday and didn't know that the Happy Hour menu wasn't in effect so be mindful of that and ask! The service was great, they came to check on us often :) The food (I had the chicken burger) was okay - just like any regular pub food but delicious fries. Would come back perhaps for drinks not for food.

Cavo is a really great place to stop for lunch or grab a few drinks before the night kicks off. Given that it's right on Granville Street, you're immediately in the action once you step outside, keeping you close to many nightclubs and concert venues. Food is also very delicious, I had the cavo burger and I have to say it was better than expected. They're even open for brunch if you need to cure those hangover blues on Sunday.

Ok that was a great place, tasty food, great cocktails, but the policy of the tips is not clear and I do not approve it. In any case you can't force a tip to 18% without the approval, and without writing it on the menu clearly that it will be so. It's clear that in Vancouver you give a tip of 10-20%, but you should leave the choice of the amount to us, the clients.

I can't make one complaint about this place at all, it is always popping and the waitress that serves me most of the time I am their always has a smile on her face. I think she is from Australia which who doesn't love that accent! The food is pretty good and the drinks are better, I definitely will keep on coming back!

Wow!! This place hands down is the best restaurant that Vancouver has to offer. I suggest the meat and cheese platter it is amazing. The freshest food available with a great wine selection and excellent top shelf martini selection. The restaurant is beautifully designed and the customer service is impeccable. I strongly suggest this place for every day occasions, it is casual. They have daily specials of homemade food. You can watch the cooks in action in the open lay out. The restaurant is very clean and bright. The street parking is plenty but it is close to all transit and is well worth the venture. Definitely make a reservation for big parties.

Be careful with your bill here. Just received a bill of $28. When I paid with 15% tip it came to $44. When I ask for the receipt, the waitress brought $10 cash as return. It happened on 3 Sep 2020, at 8:45pm. Business owner heads up.

Came here on a public holiday, it was packed, for a good reason, only bar/pub opened in a 4 square blocks radius. Service but was fast, we sat at the bar, ordered cocktails and pizzas. Good hustle here.

We arrived around 4:45 mid-week when it wasn't too busy. It was getting busy when we left at about 6:30. The happy hour menu has lots of choices and has pretty good value. The drink prices were reasonable and the service was excellent! The food was carefully prepared, nicely presented and served hot. We especially enjoyed the mussels, but the mix is spreads was also very good. It was a great spot to meet before heading to a play.

I came across CAVO yesterday on my way to Granville Island. I ordered Egg and Toast but got much more, including Avocado, salad leaves with dressing, two eggs, sliced tomatoes, oven roasted new potatoes and fruit(blueberry, raspberry, apple) and toast. Bargain at $8 and delicious. Came for more again today. The staff are very nice, the amenities are very clean. Can't recommend it enough.
