My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here. There was an event happening at the large dining hall, even so I don't think our experience was less special. They put us in a romantic semi-private nook and offered sparkling wine upon arrival. The food was absolutely amazing! But most of all the staff was so kind a helpful, we loved our service as well. A special thanks to Michael! It's the kind of service that really now all of the menu and try to understand the guest's taste to get the best suggestions for them. The atmosphere was just lovely. Will definitely come back!

I had my wedding at Brix & Mortar and could not have been happier with the venue and service I received! Our coordinator, Kimberly, took care of almost anything - so much so that we basically showed up and got the show on the road the day of after a brief meeting a couple days before, and correspondence from Australia! The venue is absolutely stunning, rustic and private and leafy in the heart of downtown Vancouver, and the courtyard was the perfect ceremony location. The staff were fantastic - everything went off like clockwork, with not a single hitch. The bartender was stellar and remembered everyone's orders all night long - and of course, the food! My guests absolutely raved about how good it was, with many saying it was the best they'd ever had at a wedding. Incredible venue, service, and food. hank you Brix & Mortar for giving me a perfect wedding!

Food is very, well, unique. And in a good way. The combination of different ingredients, while at first might look unconventional, actually are carefully engineered. The tuna salad is really good and I’m not a seafood person. Wagu steak is out of this worldly good. Service and ambiance only accentuate the experience. They do have a courtyard which unfortunately was full. Hopefully next time!

We had the taste of Yaletown dinner 3 courses for $45.00 an the food was excellent. The cauliflower salad was one of the best salads I've ever had! My second course was the lamb which was cooked to perfection and the dessert was just the perfect touch of of cream an citrus. Highly reccomend! Not only was the food amazing but the staff from reception who held our reso because traffic made us a little late to the server who was super attentive and sweet to the bartender who personally came over with a birthday toast for myself hand mixed cocktails for my girlfriends an dessert wine at the end! He even hand shook the whip cream on my specialty coffee! True 5 star service will definitely be back an tell anyone who asks how amazing it all was. Big thank you to your staff for making me feel so special an loved on my birthday ????❤

Un....freaking...believable......soooo good!!! So, my husband and I ordered out from their "taste of yaletown" menu tonight. We have not been there in years, and used a gift certificate. The food was incredible, very hot still after picking it up ourselves and a 20 minute drive home. We ordered the pork belly, the squash soup, the lamb shank ( huge !) and had the lemon panna cottage for dessert. Hands down, the best meal we've had during COVID!!! We will definitely be ordering from there again, was wayyyyyyy better than any other takeout food I've had. You will not regret ordering from here, excellent value! We are looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu, it all looks wonderful.

We came here for a birthday dinner celebration and reserved a spot at least one month ahead. A few things that we did not know before coming was that the restaurant had a policy that guest could stay I believe up to 2 hours 15 mins. Our reservation was at 4pm, and we were only told about the policy the moment we were led to our table and also dinner would not start until 5pm which means we only had 1 hour if wanted to have dinner. I was a little bummed out because of it. How the message was conveyed to us made us feel that this was AYCE versus fine dining. In addition, we thought we reserved courtyard and it turned out to be a regular outdoor patio spot. Online reservation had patio and indoor two options only (we selected patio). My partner called in after booking online and was told patio was first come first serve so we were kind of confused and we thought oh well, it probably meant it was courtyard then....we were wrong...we should have asked specifically for courtyard...as we were told the courtyard was fully booked the today we went to the restaurant...I recommend anyone who is interested in booking courtyard to call in to make sure the correct spot is booked. The services were good, and I thank the manager for listening to us about the issues we had regarding our reservation and surprising 2 hours dining policy, and accommodating us to dine at the courtyard for dinner. We were switched to the courtyard around 5pm and finished by 6:30pm. By the time we were done, the courtyard was not even half full which tells me there might be some logistics problems that the management wanted to look into. I did not want to leave a negative rating as I know how important Google reviews are for many hospitality businesses and it is not easy to run a restaurant during the pandemic. I truly hope Brix and Mortar could improve in those areas to make it a positive experience for all guests.

Came here for dinner the day before Valentines day and we both got the roasted duck. It's been 2 weeks since I had it and I still can't stop raving and craving it. Tried to get roasted duck in my neighborhood and was disappointed that it didn't taste like Brix. Can't wait to come back!!!

It was a corporate event that I attended so not your usual two to four dining experience. The servers were very attentive, the ambiance of the restaurant was great and the food very good. I had the tenderloin. It was cooked perfectly and the accompanying vegetables as well. Definitely recommend.

We booked a reservation at Brix and Mortar for my birthday. We went during happy hour and ordered 3 starter items including the Jalapeno Arancini, Pickled Pineapple and Pork Belly, and the Tuna and Sesame Prawn Tartar. Each of the plates were $10. The arancini was delicious and the sauce paired really well. The tartar was also very tasty with the taro chips. For drinks, we ordered a beer, moscow mule, and a red wine flight. For our mains, we ordered the lamb shank with cheesy polenta and the duck breast with beef brisket potato hash. Both were SO good and were really generously portioned. We couldn't decide which one we liked better. They are both dishes that I will definitely be coming back for and would be eager to try their other mains. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Overall a nice restaurant without many dinner options though. The lamp main dish was really well done and the vegetables cooked in the right temperature and time but was missing something interesting to get it to 5stars. The highlight of the dinner was the beef tartar which was done differently from any other restaurant and perfect in salt and sourness along with the panna cotta dessert which i couldn’t recommend more!

Came over from Vancouver Island for a weekend getaway and we made reservations at a few restaurants before coming. This was by far our favorite of the weekend! I had the lamb shank and my gf had the ribs. The lamb was absolutely fantastic, but we couldn't get enough of the ribs. The flavor was over the top and sides that came with it went perfectly with the richness of the ribs. Service was great, and I always love it when the owner or could have been a manager came out to ask how everything was. I think that's a great touch. Can't wait to come back next time we are over there.

We were at Brix and Mortar just a few days ago, and the service staff was great however I ended up getting food poisoning( I was extremely sick) from the restaurant. It was the only meal I had that day and when I notified the restaurant out of courtesy the manager David just gave me a cop out answer and took no ownership. We will never dine hear again and it was disappointing to see how they deal with a valid customer concern

The food was extremely average and over priced. We got lingcod with poached lobster, and AAA tenderloin with grilled prawns. The actual steak was very good, however the sides were very average, it came with mashed portatoes and broccolinis that were very bland. The fish that was served was extremely overcooked. It was dry and the texture felt very stiff and chewy. Same with the lobster. The service wasn't very good either, food ran late, the waiter didnt check up on us often. Overall experience was fairly poor. We went here for valentines day and we did not enjoy it very much.

I found this place online when looking for happy hour options and it didn't disappoint! This place is in a fab location in Yaletown, it has amazing cocktails on happy hour (starting from 7$!) and some super tasty happy hour appetisers. I look forward to going back, even if it's not happy hour!

Held a company event here. Although we did find the floor layout kind of weird (it is like a L shape) I did end up liking it a lot. For people who wants a break from the music they can go all the way to the back and sit down. And u know give your feet a break. Total costs wise I'm not sure since I wasn't the coordinator for this. But the servers were very professional and attentive. The food was pretty good and fit great with our 1920s theme ????

Food was salty and my steak was over seasoned. We booked the place a week before and yet we were seated in patio. While half of the upper floor was empty we were told that all tables are booked. Upon our arrival a tray was on one of our seats which wehad no choice but to put it somewhere to be able to sit. For appetizer we got prawn which was disturbingly spicy. Steak was cold and when floor manager asked about the food we mentioned that the meat tempertare is not hot enough. Unfortunately the weakest point of the night was my experience in men's room. The washroom is outside the restaurant in the end of a corridor. The space has nothing to do with the $$$ resturant experience. You almost feel like you are entering into a gas station washroom. Scratches are all over the walls, which was extremely shocking. I truly worked hard to give two star to this place. And we are very disappointed by our choice.

There was nothing exceptional about this restaurant except the prices for the food. The food wasn't bad, it was just alright, but priced as if it were amazing. I had the scallops which were just okay, the beat salad was very tasty. I wish it had been a meal sized salad you could add a protein to. The chicken and waffles was.. entirely unnecessary. $29 for a waffle and some fried chicken. Just no. Also, the bathrooms were something I would expect at a TGI Fridays. Not a higher end restaurant. Other than that the service was good. Oh and the focaccia bread was awesome, but for the price point of the food should be complimentary.

I'm sure it was just an off night but unfortunately our experience was not the greatest. For starters we had the beet salad and the carpaccio. The beet salad was bland - begging for some acidity and could have used more beets. The carpaccio was good but again was under seasoned and came with an odd overly large mountain of kale. Our mains is actually where our issues truly began. The halibut was not seasoned at all. It actually tasted like it could have been microwaved. The prawn crust was rubbery. The second dish was the tagliatelle which I was very much looking forward too. It came cold and the acid I was missing in the beet salad was found here. Maybe they didn't let the wine in the bolognese sauce cook off? The saving grace was the service. The hostess was pleasant. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. We weren't even going to say anything about the food but she notice and informed the manager on our behalf. The manager was generous enough to remove the mains and our drinks from our meal. We were very grateful and made sure to tip the waitress on the full dinner as she didn't deserve to be penalized for the problems in the kitchen. I hope they sort out the inconsistencies in the kitchen. If they do this will be a great place to dine.

This place really surprised me! I love that they use the 100 mile diet. All ingredients come from local farms within 100 miles! They have such a beautiful liquor wall with a fantastic cocktail list. Don’t drink? They do custom mocktails based on your desired palette. Their menu changes based on the season for the most freshest in season ingredients.

We held both our wedding ceremony and reception in the courtyard; and planned it all in 2 weeks thanks to Jennifer and Jaimie's organization, attention to detail, and professionalism. We brought minimal decor since it's already so beautiful and were able to use a lot of the items (candles, easel, bird cage, etc.) included with the venue. The staff, food, service and ambiance were also absolute PERFECTION. It was the wedding of our dreams and we couldn’t be happier that we chose Brix & Mortar!

We've been coming here the last few years for NYE dinner and birthday celebrations. We always have a wonderful time with the amazing staff and delicious food. We booked ahead for an early seating as we had people over later for NYE countdown. We ordered: -PROSCIUTTO WRAPPED SEA SCALLOPS This is our go to appetizer. The scallops are perfectly seasoned and seared. The barbecued duck risotto with each bite with scallop is to die for. - LOCAL LINGCOD I love eating fish and living in Vancouver, plenty fresh seafood. This was really tasty! The fish was done perfectly. It had potato crust (loved this) with roasted winter squash, succotash, chive aioli. - GELDERMAN FARMS PORK BELLY Lemongrass chili glaze, prawn & pineapple kimchi fried rice. Wow. This was a the tastiest pork belly paired with kimchi fried rice I ever tasted. The fried rice was more sour than spicy. But the sour really cut into the fat with eat bite. We always feel the staff love their job as their service is always wonderful.

I had to ask three random servers not to remove the cheese plate before I was done. Thus flyby service totally ruined our evening. If I wanted fast food I would go to McDonald's.

Did a reso for me and my boyfriend to celebrate. Unfortunately, we left the restaurant disappointed. We ordered vodka soda and the bill was charged as a double vodka (4 drinks) - the server mentioned that is how the restaurant works, you get doubles and pay for doubles without asking. We ordered 2 steaks and mid rare was the option that I chose. As you can see in the pic, I did not received that. Update: I did mentioned with the server at the time and she said I could remove her tip from the payment but the bill was right. Very unprofessional!

Wether you're looking for a venue for a group, as we were, or just a romantic dinner for two. Wonderful atmosphere and your choice of a cozy inside table or an airy patio seat. The prices were what you'd expect from a Yaletown destination, but the food was worth every penny and the portions were just right. Most of us went from famished to full after an appy and an entree. 10/10 would recommend and will be going back!

Great service at the bar. Best cocktail I ever had - the Bryson - ask for it if Hall (pronounced the same as shall) is working. Great happy hour menu. The dip trio was on point full of flavor properly seasoned, deliciousness. The beef tartare was a good dish that became excellent once I added salt and pepper, they forgot to season the dish completely. Sadly I had to rush out, but I'll be back for sure. Place looks classy all done up for.christmas. And management give hall an applause, as a lifelong restaurant guy, he exceeded everything.

Great food and great service. Came here while attending a wedding, so not sure it's like this all the time. If it is, with coming again. Caveat of this place is that it is in Yaletown and that means no free parking and cramped alleyways if driving. Roundhouse SkyTrain station for Canada Line is a couple blocks away, so convenient to train into this location.

Brix & Mortar, hands down, served the best food and drinks. We had two small and two big plates along with curated cider and cocktail choices. We finished it off with sharing their desert of the night & I had an ounce of curated scotch. The server knew everything about the drinks and dishes she served. We'll be back anytime we're in town.

I was standing at the door for about 5 min but nobody came to ask even though 3 of the waiters saw me. Then we waited soooooo long to order food but no one even come. So my friend raise her hand up. After a long time, her boyfriend raised his hand up as well. Then, the waitress who stands behind us told us very rudely to stop raising hand and waving. Food was great, service was excellent. The chicken karaage and waffles was really good, though I hear they are removing it from the menu. There is an upstairs and downstairs (bar) section with an entrance from the back, so it can be a bit confusing, but everyone was very accommodating. The main restaurant is partly inside and partly in a covered courtyard. The courtyard feels like being outside but warmed with heaters to keep it comfortable even though it was cold out.

It was a dream to book my wedding with Brix & Mortar and without fail; they proved why they are one of the most sought after Venues. The owners are the most genuine and kind hearted people with a staff who offer the same characteristics. Being a Covid bride had its hiccups but I never felt stressed with Jennifer. Her support and guidance along the way was always with open arms. Every question, inquiry, asks or requests was always looked after with the most care and understanding. The day itself was put at ease with Jennifer by my side, along with the sweet Laura who watched over us and our guests the entire night. It makes me tear up thinking of how magical my night was and knowing I could not have had it so successful without Jennifer and Laura. The food and drink options are endless, delicious! The attention to detail with the little things, made my husband and I stand out just a little bit more. They made sure to be mindful for us with costs without having us thinking of it as a concern. Took my girlfriend here for a birthday dinner on a trip to Vancouver and it was great. We had to change our reservations due to a border crossing delay and they were very accommodating. The inside is very cool, with vines and a beautiful chandelier! We were seated timely and our server was very nice offering wine samples (3) and extra whiskey samples before we chose our drinks. The muscles and beet salad are a must. My girlfriend had the salmon and I the fried chicken. Both were good , but I think the salmon was the better dish. The chicken was southern style with a heavy, spiced Cajun sauce. Definitely check this place out for a great meal with nice service

I can't say enough good things about the dinner we had on Friday night at Brix & Mortar. We're already planning our next visit. We went later in the evening and sat on the patio. We had pate to start, chicken & waffles and pork chops as mains, and every element was perfect. The waitress gave excellent answers to our questions about drinks and food, and advised on meal options (even though she was vegan!) If you want a five star date night at four star prices, incredible food, and exceptional service, this is your place!

My project: Sister's 30th Birthday. Patrick who facilitated and guided my plans from start to finish was amazing. From first call to last touches he's A+. I have never had someone care this much in the food and beverage industry. He knows what to do and how to do it and in sequence. Tanya who covered for Patrick shortly did a very great job as well. She deserves her own kudos. I had a party of 14 which all got seated in a timely fashion. My party included 2 tots which usually are well behaved and they didn't make them or parents feel unwelcome a real plus. The ordering went smoothly with Tanya. All the little things were well taken care of like a well orchestrated symphony. Jackets, Cake, Cutting of the cake you name it, it was done. Food speaks for its self. Kurabota Porkchop in Brine amazing. Pickled Beet Salad same. I can't recommend Brix enough on this review. Will return soon!

My husband and I arrived at 3:50 pm and were told to come back as they were still “setting up”. We left and returned at 4:10pm. After the hostess seated us, she informed us of their two-hour stay limit which caught us somewhat off guard, given that the pre-COVID Yaletown, usually bustling with many locals and visitors from far and wide, had turned into what to us felt like a ghost town. We thought that with so many COVID restrictions in the past two years that restaurateurs would have been happy to welcome us, especially so early in their business day, particularly since there were very few customers there at that time. Then we were presented with the menu: one for Happy Hour and another with their dinner features. We were hungry and looking forward to ordering entrees from the dinner menu; however, then we were informed by the waiter that we would need to wait until 5 pm to order off the dinner menu…To us, this just added insult to injury: not only are we explicitly told we’re only welcome to stay for two hours, but now we have to wait almost one hour to order a full meal. And so, this what was supposed to be “Happy Hour” quickly turned into “Unhappy Hour” for us. We purposefully decided not to just get up and leave but stay a bit and share three of their featured $10 appetizers. But we refused the alcoholic beverages, as our mood had already been spoiled by what we considered very poor customer service. We ate, paid and could not wait to leave, all well before 5 o’clock. It does not matter how good the food is, if the customer does not feel appreciated. A disappointing experience overall. ☹️

It was yet another fantastic dining experience here. I went here with my work team from TO. They asked how I found this place and replied that this is my “go-to anniversary” restaurant. We started off with drinks and their special negroni with sun-dried tomato might sound weird but was absolutely incredible. For appetizers, we ordered their cheese and charcuterie (great but not exceptional). I reserve the exceptional compliments for their prosciutto wrapped sea scallops with duck risotto. I remember having this before and this was the highlight of my previous meal. We ordered this for the 5 of us (2 orders plus + 1 extra scallop) and it was exactly how I remember it. It is a bit pricey but I assure you, it was absolutely worth it. For our main, I had the ling cod which was very good. It was cooked well but I think it needed just a bit more flavour. Somebody ordered the pork belly and that... was.... awesome. I will need to order that next time! For dessert, we ordered the panna cotta... another home run. All in all, another fantastic dining experience with great service. Brix&Mortar, until we meet again.

Normally love Brix and Mortar but be careful of the Pork Ribs. For whatever reason they decided to serve the end flap meat you normally trim from St. Louis ribs. The meat was filled with fat and cartilage. Basically made it inedible. Didn't make this a 1 because normally this restaurant is fantastic, and maybe this was an abrasion as I had takeout. Also called and they were not going to rectify so beware of the ribs. Only order if you are in the restaurant and can send back to the kitchen if they serve you what I got.

We went to Brix and Mortar last night for my boyfriend’s birthday but unfortunately we got the worst service that we have ever experienced! The atmosphere was very nice, the food was good, but service, from our experience I’m sorry but it was very very disappointing. When I reserved our table online, I mentioned that its my boyfriend’s birthday and I’m bringing a cake and I would like that to be served after our food! and I got a reply back saying they look forward to hosting us for a Birthday dinner. When we got there, and we sat down by a host, we were literally sitting there for 15-20 min without any water or any food or drink menu on our table. All the servers would pass by us and serve other tables but no one came to our table to ask us if we need anything. So I had to ask one of the waiters to bring us some water and menus. After all our guests arrived, we still had no one to take our order, and still no waiters, so I had to go my self and ask for someone to come and Serve us. When we finally got a waitress after 30 min, we ordered a wine sample and it took her literally 15 min to come back to our table, and when she came back, she asked us “ have we decided on anything for drinks” , and I said we ordered a wine sample to try, and she was like Oohhh I’ll be right back!! Then she came with a wine sample and we ordered. We ordered our food, all good and delicious. But when we got to the desert, she came and asked if we want anything for desert, and I had to tell her that I brought a cake and its in the fridge. (basically ruining my own surprise). Even though I mentioned it on my reservation and they totally forgot about it. We were all very surprised by the kind of service that we got last night. Very disappointing. Hopefully they can have more people on board when they are experiencing a busy night. Thanks!

On June 21, 2017, we had our wedding ceremony & reception at Brix and Mortar. We cannot say enough about the venue and the Brix team. Jennifer guided us through the process of planning and put together an incredible dining experience for our guests and she did it all within our budget. The food was amazing. The Brix team truly was a 'dream team' who were never more than a few feet away to make sure everyone had what they needed. Sonya was like a wedding coordinator, she directed guests, the wedding party, cued music and kept us all calm and comfortable. The venue is pure magic and everyone who attended is raving about all of the above. Thank you Jennifer and the team who worked the day of our wedding.

Great vibe here - upscale casual but you wouldn't feel out of place dressed formally either. One of the best wine lists in town, too, if that's your thing.

The service was great. Craig was an excellent server. I asked for a small sub on one of the dishes (Can't eat truffle) and was told that the chef does not allow substitutions. When a chef doesn't allow substitutions I make the assumption that they stand behind the flavours and quality of their dishes. I got the ribs. The food came out (literally) 4-minutes later - it was clearly re-heated quickly and put on a plate. The presentation was beautiful and I'd put money on the presentation taking longer than the food did to be reheated. Took my first bite - enjoyed it. Took my second bite, thought I recognized the flavour. Took my third bite - realized that the ribs were coated in the sweet and sour pork sauce that I sometimes order from Manchu Wok when I'm at a food court. The ambiance is beautiful. The service is great. The food is extremely mediocre. The restaurant desperately needs a chef that actually takes pride in their food. I can't believe that I paid 40$ for Manchu Wok.

Unfortunately booking almost two weeks in advance and emailing the reservations email about a reservation for the patio apparently “doesn’t guarantee” you a spot on the patio… even if you reservation literally says PATIO beside the time you booked. Really disappointed we got to the restaurant and they insisted we sit inside. The hostesses at first said no there’s nothing that says you booked the patio… ? Which there was.. as it literally says patio, and at the time that we booked during COVID, they were not taking reservations inside. I’m not sure how this wouldn’t guarantee us a patio table? Anyways, after explaining we booked the patio they insisted we wouldn’t even want to sit outside because there’s no AC and after we again explained we didn’t care, we specifically booked this patio as we wanted this ambience and to take patio pictures for the moving away dinner we already booked, they said there’s no room. So we sat inside, and asked our server if we were able to get a spot in the courtyard that had only two people in it at the time, and she explained they were fully booked. Honestly; we’re not gonna recommend this place to people and we’re not gonna come here again, it’s really disappointing the response we got as we had been dying to come here for so long and really wanted to enjoy the patio or courtyard setting. We did everything we should have to secure this important dinner reservation for our family To enjoy, but we were basically met with a “shit out of luck” attitude and the food was mediocre.

Very nice place. Went there on a Tuesday night and it was very quiet. Very nice place inside and sat at the bar. Bartender was very helpful and knowledgeable. The wedding staff are incredible and go above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly right down to the last detail. The venue is always spotless and decorated simply and elegantly. I went there for my birthday with a few friends and the waiter kept asking them why aren’t they ordering the main dish and instead taking pictures, talking and doing the normal event things. The restaurant has a 2 hrs stay policy, but when we stepped in the front desk told me they don’t have anymore reservations for our table after us for rest of the night and that we can stay as long as the place is open (the point is that we had no reason to be in a rush to order). However, we got starters and bottles of wine to get the night started before hand anyways. Unfortunately, not many of us liked our main courses at the end and it was a disappointment for such an experience and classy restaurant.

I'm very much impressed with this place. The reviews were good, but they should be better for what this place is. We has squid starter and salmon main and both were incredible. I love how their menu specifies gluten free, shareable, and océan-sustainable seafood. Nice to see that. The PERFECT wedding venue! The outdoor courtyard is gorgeous, private, romantic, and the food is delicious. I have an incredible amount of gratitude for Jennifer (owner) and Jaimie (wedding coordinator), who both went so far above and beyond to ensure that everything was exceptional. Bringing guests through the private entrance definitely delivers a "wow" moment, as the space is incredibly beautiful. Much of the planning was done via email, but on the day-of, Jaimie had every single detail impeccably planned. Our server could not have been more lovely, she called every guest by name. As a wedding officiant for a wedding there last week, I found the staff very helpful and cheerful, and very attentive to feedback when adjusting music volume and heat levels. The outdoor/indoor space for ceremonies is so beautiful, especially the lighting - I loved the big chandelier and the little seashell lights on the brick walls in the entrance. Due to some guest misunderstandings, the wedding started quite late, and they did a great job of flexing with the changes. First time here was for a birthday dinner, poor service made for an overall bad experience. 30 min after our reservation time only 4 of our 9 guests were there, although they were just about to arrive. The server was very rude about it. Her words were along the lines of "so where exactly is everyone else, because youre reso was at 8 and its 30 minutes after that, so im not sure whats going on?" She made us feel incredibly inconvenient and told us we needed to hurry up and order because they wanted to close the kitchen early due to it being a slow night (it was 1.5 hours before closing time). However she wouldnt let us order our appys to start and insisted the whole party had to be there/we had to order appys and entrees at the same time, i work in a restaurant and have never heard of such a rule. Food was definitely delicious and worth the price point, and what im assuming was the manager came in to personally check on how we were enjoying dinner. Much more hospitable in those few minutes than our server ever was. The second we finished eating practically every staff member in the restaurant came to clear our plates, making us feel a bit rushed. When our server took payment she was still quite rude and cold towards us and never said thank you. As we were leaving a bartender none of us had ever interacted with asked us how our night was and gave us a very warm goodbye, again being more hospitable than our server. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the ambiance of the restaurant but the terrible service does not encourage me to go back.

We went B&M for my wife’s birthday and sat in the courtyard, beautiful setting, round table for 5 of us under the chandelier. Fantastic atmosphere in a unique quaint setting. Menu was a delicious selection- bravo to the Chef! The evening was a brilliant success, all staff very attentive with first class service... all ended with a dessert with birthday candle presented to my wife. A memorable experience for all and we will definitely return!

I discovered this restaurant after a family friend of mine got married here, and after seeing the decor I could not resist visiting myself. Here’s how it went Let’s start with the good stuff: - It was a rather large party (11 people as it was my birthday party) and the restaurant was so accommodating, booking us for a busy weekend night with just one email. - The ambiance of this restaurant is beautiful. It feels both upbeat and rustic simultaneously, making it a great place to go for a fancy dinner that still feels casual. - The servers were so friendly and definitely deserve a shout out for being that attentive during a busy night. - Delicious food The negative: -Their “cake-cutting fee”, charging $3 per head for cutting a birthday cake. It kinda puts an asterisk of the festivities, and from my experience this is a highly uncommon surcharge from a restaurant. That being said, if you are not having a birthday party here I’m sure that won’t be an issue for you. Definitely a great restaurant to check out!!

When asked again, they said it was the sauce that is making it salty but we all knew it wasn't. The sauce was fine, it was the vegetables that absorbed all the salt. The service was also great- despite our server mentioning he was new (he did amazing and had a great personality)! However, the drink menu for cocktails was quite small. Although I do consume meat and found the duck to be perfectly cooked and full of flavour, my partner had very limited option when it came to vegetarian dishes. I would definitely come back if I saw some additional vegan/vegetarian options on the menu! :)

First time at this restaurant and it was lovely. Went there for Valentines Day. Appetizers and entrees were delicious, zero complaints. We had the scallops, braised lamb shank and the pork belly. Cocktails were great also. I gave them a 4 rating only because we didn't particularly like where we were seated. It's a nice place but we were downstairs where there's not much to look at scenery wise. All in all, great experience and I would go back and highly recommend.

We came on a Saturday night and the hostess was able to get us a table right away. Service was immaculate and our waiter was so great and attentive. He was such a delight! Everything tasted great and the complexity of flavours was mind blowing. We had the short rib, creole pasta, and pork ribs, along with several appetizers (that focaccia bread though... so so soft and pillowy). We will definitely come again. Highly recommend!

I have never written a review before, but after experiencing this I need to warn people about this place. Horrible. Everything about this restaurant was awful. Celebrated a Birthday here with a set-menu provided by them for $52/person. We weren't allowed to order from their actual menu. The shared "dish" was bread, which was served cold and when asked for additional bread they told us they're going to charge more for it. The appetizer was a choice of a salad or a salad with cheese and tomato. It literally tasted like I pulled some weeds and grass from my backyard and put it on a plate. The entree selection was mushroom risotto, chicken breast, and a steak option that was an additional $14. I tasted all 3 and they were mediocre at best. The most disappointing thing was the dessert, a so-called cereal pudding. The dish tasted like a small bowl of un-flavoured gelatin topped with frosted flakes. On top of this, they charged us $60 to cut the cake we provided. I will never go back to this place and highly recommend you go somewhere else. If I could go back, I would've eaten at Mcdonalds instead. You will feel like you got scammed if you go there. Be warned.

An amazing dining experience that won't disappoint. Brix and Mortar offers an eclectic mix of appetizers and entrees that make you feel like you are eating something that you don't get at home very often (i.e. lovely Yellowfin Tuna or Wagyu Beef). While prices are "up there" they won't murder your pocket book. Service is paramount and from our host who greeted us to our table server Taylor, the experience was fantastic. The manager was also checking on every table to ensure everyone was happy and informed me the chef has been with them for 10 years and constantly rotating the menu to keep things fresh. Brix and Mortar has two dining areas... an open air courtyard upstairs off of Homer and a large bistro style feel (with outdoor patio seating as well) downstairs off of Hamilton. Each offer a different ambience but are equally enjoyable. Their upstairs may be booked most weekends for weddings or private events so check ahead when making your reservations. My nephew who is a Doctor at a Greater Vancouver hospital held his wedding reception at this location. Booked the place a year ago. Small but cozy restaurant. Since my nephew and his wife, who is a lab technician, invited many of their peers to attend. The availability to dance after dinner at this same location was great for the young couple and their friends. Because it is located in downtown Vancouver, the valet parking services is a plus & an excellent choice for a wedding reception. The food were small in portions but excellent. It was an excellent experience shared by those who attended. When you can impress an ex high ranking RCMP member, you have to say the place is excellent.

The entrance/ courtyard is pretty, there was a private wedding party we had to walk through to the enter the restaurant, which was awkward. Upon entering the interior restaurant there is no central entrance with a host, I walked into people eating and looked for a waitress. Once seated took about 10 minutes to be greeted, 15 to order a beverage, and 20 minutes before the drink was delivered. Drinks were creative. The food was delightful! Large, multiple storey space. Different floor, different vibe. Courtyard and patio, with private room rentals available. For a more causal vibe request downstairs, patio is also downstairs.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting our wedding reception at Brix & Mortar, and had the most amazing experience. We HIGHLY recommend holding any event you’re planning at Brix & Mortar. We originally chose Brix & Mortar because of its beauty – the brick wall, chandeliers, covered courtyard – it is a secret oasis in the middle of downtown, close to transit, cabs, and hotels for guests at the end of the night. We loved the “all-in-one” venue that required minimal coordinating on our part. Brix literally has it all – a coordinator; cocktail, dinner, and dance spaces; tables/linens/etc; serving staff; amazing food; ambience; etc. The space is so beautiful as is, adding décor is optional. And with the beautiful courtyard, you feel like you are outside but it is covered for those “unexpected” rainy days in Vancouver! For us, it was the perfect choice! We were originally supposed to have our reception at Brix & Mortar in April, but due to COVID, had to postpone (and limit) our guest list. Jennifer and Jaimie from the Brix & Mortar staff were extremely patient and accommodating through the whole process of unknowns, decisions, and modifications that COVID forced upon us. To say I was an anxious bride with a million questions is an understatement (thanks COVID), but Jennifer and Jaimie promptly replied to each email and phone call with calm reassurances, thoroughly answering all my questions. The process of planning the night was seamless – they have held many events at their restaurant, and are set up for everything. There are many options for food, drinks, personalized his/her cocktails, open bar/cash bar, etc. They were accommodating and flexible when it came to adding personal touches for the evening. We especially appreciated Jaimie and Jennifer’s attention to our bill and working around our selected budget. While the night was a little different than planned due to COVID restrictions, it was perfect. The restaurant was beautiful, the serving staff were attentive and friendly, the food was amazing, and there were no issues! I would HIGHLY recommend Brix & Mortar for any event you are planning!

This is a review for our wedding ceremony here. We had a small ceremony in Jun 2021 on the hottest day ever recorded. Throughout the whole pandemic/planning phase Jennifer and Jaimie were great in accommodating our wedding changes. We’re told right at the beginning to watch our time because our reservation only held for two hours and they had “other” customers after us.Our servers were polite and attentive but my wife’s white wine was warm. Had to send it back for chilled. How do you miss that? Ordered the tenderloin medium and it came blue rare. Sent that back too. The host comes to apologize, had his mask at half mast and kept putting his hand on my shoulder? Left after an hour and a half and the place was still half empty. Check your game B and M. Never coming back.

I’m not usually a rib person but I ordered the ribs and they were very delicious, just too salty for me to be able to eat all of it. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the rib sauce was amazing. I rate this place 4 stars rather than 5 because of the service. Our server did the absolute bare minimum; asking for our order, bringing the food, coming back once to ask if it was good, then back at the end for payment. The machine’s lowest suggested tip percentage was 18%, which I did not feel was earned by the service. I assume it’s because the restaurant is more on the fancy side. Everything else was great.

This place only opens for dinner but its gorgeous, cozy and hip. I had my wedding reception here and Jennifer and Kimberly were super helpful. The venue is amazing and food is perfect. My guests all tell me how wonderful the small courtyard looked and how amazing their main dishes were. Staff were friendly and courteous minus the one server who had a bit of attitude maybe because it was so busy. I just expect a bit more patience from someone serving the head table. The bartender was super nice though and she made my evening because she was helpful and understanding. If little issues arise they helped me deal with it and it really did turn out amazing even if some things had to be tweaked the day of. Overall the evening was a great success and servers were awesome in helping set up my dessert table and reloading the treats. The locations is rustic with brick walls and classy with their courtyard vines and large mirror and drapes. I loved that their plants were fake as I'm allergic to flowers. And the best part is that the courtyard is covered so you can have you wedding rain or shine. If you want a wedding with 96 people or less with a cozy rustic feel that you don't have to do too much decorating or if you want greenery but you are allergic to trees and grass like me, this is the perfect venue for your wedding. You get the whole top floor for your party and they are accommodating to your needs. They allowed us to bring in our own curated dessert table with goodies from a few cake shops which was a big part of why i choose this venue. You have to have dinner here to know what I'm talking about. Their halibut is tender and hot in the center and their beef tenderloin in medium rare is like melt in your mouth amazing. Even the foodies at my wedding had only great things to say about the food. The only downside is parking only available on the street but there is a lot a fee blocks down. Like all places in yaletown parking is a bit annoying but worth it.

Doesn't surprise me it's empty as I sit here. Mediocre service. Tries to be a cute setting. If you like uneven floors, over priced food, and average cooking this is the place for you. Never had potatoes SO GREASY before. They're greasier than McDonald's fries on a bad day. Bread is covered in a mountain of salt. Only bonus was the drink was mixed well, but for the price it was not at all worth it.

Perhaps we came on an off night but our group of seven arrived at 7 p.m. and were seated right away but it took over 90 minutes for our food to arrive. It wasn't that busy for a Monday night and everyone else around us was served their food even though they arrived after us. The server kept telling us our food would be out shortly but after he said that, it took an hour before our meals were served. The scallops were tough and overcooked. The manager was unapologetic and offered to comp our bread, which was okay but we were never provided with an explanation. We plan meetings for a living and this will not be a place we will recommend to our delegates at our meeting in July.

Very good dinner. The lingcod was particularly tasty and original. Very different flavors combined wonderfully: highly recommended. The flights of wine were also quite well chosen. We had a reservation for 8:15 last night. I had asked for a nice deuce top in the Homer Street courtyard when I made the reservation. We arrived about 5 min early and told the people at the table for us were still there and they should be wrapping up very soon. After 15 min, I checked back with maître d’ and the manager/owner came forward and said the previous occupants of our table are taking a bit longer than they should and asked if we could patiently wait another 10-15 min. We were in no rush so it wasn’t an issue. At 8:35, we were escorted to our lovely table in the courtyard. And within a few minutes of us sitting down, out came a couple of flutes of champagne ???? courtesy of the owner, which was a very classy touch. We ordered a few very tasty drinks ???????? recommended by our lovely server Laurel. As we settled in, we ended up ordering three share appetizers - mushroom toast, albacore negitoro, and the beef tartare - with the anticipation of ordering an entree or two to to share. The entrees were not necessary after the very generous portions of tasty appetizers. We sat and ordered another round of drinks, just kicked back and enjoyed the beautiful ambience among the amazingly ornate chandelier and mini festive lights in the very romantic atrium courtyard. After giving ourselves some time to digest the fabulous meal, we ordered a serving of fresh fruit sorbet to end off the evening. All in all a brilliant location to be in if you’re looking for a romantic restaurant with a diverse and delicious menu. Brix n Mortar gets 5/5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The venue is absolutely gorgeous, the food is out of this world and the staff were incredible. Our guests have been raving about it non stop the past few days. The event coordinators, Jennifer and Kimberly, were so helpful and all of the night staff went above and beyond our expectations. Honestly an average place for high end food. The prices for the quality of food I think is a bit much. The food wasn't anything super special and the flavours were that of an average restaurant. For the price I was expecting a lot more. We had the cheese platter which did have a good selection of cheeses and the AAA beef tenderloin. I asked for medium, the steak seemed to come out well done and a bit too salty for my liking. The interior design of the restaurant is incredibly gorgeous, however overall the food was not worth the price point for me.

I came here to celebrate my 30th birthday - it was a special occasion and I really wanted to pick an amazing restaurant to have it in. I picked Brix. Leading up to my reservation everything was great - the people on the phone were really quick in getting back to me and very helpful. However our actual dinner was made very awkward by both the manager and our server. We felt rushed and unwelcome. I called to tell them we were running late by 20 minutes and they said that after 30 minutes they’d open the table up, which I understand. Some friends arrived on time and from the get go we were rushed to place our food and drink orders, being told that if we don’t get them in at 630 the next reso at 830 won’t be able to come in. Our actual server seemed to just really not like us and came across cold and unfriendly. I don’t really know why. I had to ask three times for her to take a simple phone photo of us. She refused twice saying she “didn’t want to back up into the table behind us” and wanted to wait till they left. That’s absolutely bizarre in my opinion. It’s perfectly normal to ask a server to take a photo on a special occasion. I appreciated that we got a free round of shots (which were delicious) and a dessert on the house - the food was great. Anyway I asked our group to leave and go to the next place because it was 830 - a friend came late and was hungry and we would’ve preferred to stay there and have her order but as we were warned about the next reso I decided we should just go elsewhere. We went to the Keg and actually had an awesome time. It was relaxed and we were never made to feel like a burden or unwelcome as a group. Good food but because of our service I really didn’t have a good time here and wouldn’t come back. A friend ended up returning that night and saw that the table we left was empty. If there was a reso by then they either left or never showed up. Just a very weird experience and I’m really surprised, given all the good reviews. Anyway I hope this feedback is helpful for management. I’ve never been here before and in my opinion that’s not the way customers should be treated at an upscale restaurant. I sent this feedback in private following the meal but never heard back.

Dined at this restaurant yesterday evening to celebrate me and my partner's 4 year anniversary. The garden terrace is beautiful and the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. We were greeted by our server, Laura, at the table who was very pleasant. We started with enjoying a few wine flights featuring French and Bordeaux wines. We were able to taste through all the samples and determine which wine we wanted to proceed to order. We ordered the mussels and focaccia bread to start, both the mussels and broth were extremely flavorful and the bread was perfectly salted and paired well with the mussel broth. Dinner we enjoyed the duck breast and lamb shank, which were both perfectly cooked and just the right size for portion. We finished off with bread pudding for dessert, which was the recommendation of our server, Laura. The presentation of all the dishes were impeccable. We were also given complimentary glasses of Moet & Chandon as we were celebrating 4 years. Overall, the evening was perfect, the price was worth every penny, and would definitely return! Highly recommend.

WOW!!! I went here for the first time during Dine Out last night, and can't think of a single bad thing to say about it. Service at other restaurants during Dine Out can be a bit slow or rude as they're so busy, but Brix and Mortar went out of their way to make our experience great. Friendly, ultra-attentive service, a beautiful setting, and probably the best Dine Out meal I've ever had. They even offered us our sparkling waters for free as they felt the food came up slower than it should have (which we hadn't even really noticed). I can't recommend this place enough, and will definitely be back!

For appetizers, we ordered their cheese and charcuterie (great but not exceptional). I reserve the exceptional compliments for their prosciutto wrapped sea scallops with duck risotto. I remember having this before and this was the highlight of my previous meal. We ordered this for the 5 of us (2 orders plus + 1 extra scallop) and it was exactly how I remember it. It is a bit pricey but I assure you, it was absolutely worth it. For our main, I had the ling cod which was very good. It was cooked well but I think it needed just a bit more flavour. Somebody ordered the pork belly and that... was.... awesome. I will need to order that next time! For dessert, we ordered the panna cotta... another home run. All in all, another fantastic dining experience with great service. Brix&Mortar, until we meet again.

We chose this restaurant to celebrate my friend's bachelorette, as many recommended it and we heard great stuff. We left very disappointed; first of all, there was a dead fruit fly in one of our cocktails, which can happen, so we kindly told our server, who did not even acknowledge or apologized and just took it away without a word. Then our food came out and in our scallop risotto we found a strand of hair that was intertwined with the rice, we couldn't even fully get it out. When we told our server again, he just said a quick "oh sorry", which was not sincere or genuine at all. He did not make our dining experience pleasant. The irony of this is, that the table behind us also had issues with their food, same server, but we could hear him apologizing for the food not being on par with their standards etc. The difference in customer service was shocking. I have never met such a two faced rude server. Will probably not come back nor recommend this place.

Place has its perk just Location food was decent I got to say I’m not impress with the graduatity 20 doller tip already included for what? Bringing out a couple dishes and a few drinks. Not to mention the waitress got help and he broke a glass too. I’m not saying they don’t deserve a tip , they are friendly ppl but she probably got over 80 doller tip for a table of 7. Isn’t it 8 ppl at least for graduatity. And come on I’m a stundent. 8hrs of work to pay a 125 doller bill. Literally paid for 2 main 1 small plate 2 beers and two glasses of wine. Thanks a lot

Good service, good outdoor patio. Scallop is amazing good. The rice is crispy and tasty when cook it with duck fat. Main course we ordered Lamb and Halibut , both are so so . A little bit on the dry side. octopus salad is unique but it doesn’t match with watermelon. roasted potatoes and pasta ( they special made for the kids)are pretty good. My kids love it.

Very Impressed. Just went for a Friday Happy Hour and thoroughly satisfied. All three cocktail hour dishes we had were delicious. Some nice Cocktails on the menu . Patio is great the location is awesome. Our server was incredible, thanks Michael and all of the staff seemed genuinely happy and helpful, not seen that much these days at many establishments. The dining area is beautiful, we will be returning in a couple of weeks for a beautiful dinner in the atrium. Check this place out you'll be delighted you did.

I've taken a total of 9 friends now to eat dinner and 100% agree this is some of the Best quality food and incredible service they've had in Vancouver! Absolutely incredible venue for weddings and really ideal for any couple that wants a more relaxed and intimate wedding in Vancouver. I've captured over 4 weddings here over the years and each time it's been a fantastic experience. There are several locations nearby for portraits, the courtyard is perfect for the ceremony and family formals and everything has always run smoothly due to the care and attention to detail of the staff at Brix & Mortar. 5/5.

Dining experience at this restaurant was OK. Ambiance on the patio is beautiful. Food is average for Yaletown. This restaurant lost most of its stars with service. The gentleman that answered the phone clearly does not enjoy his job OR has the attitude that he’s better than you because he works in a restaurant that has a reputation for fine dining. Some individuals tend to forget that when you’re in a line of service it’s important to provide that to clients in order to maintain a reputation and have people come back as well as recommend the business to others. Based on service alone and seeing that there are many other options in the area, I would recommend other restaurants before this one.

I really wanted to like this place. They also do weddings and events therefore if they were suitable, then I wouldn't have needed to keep looking. Overall it was okay. The food was okay but nothing to write home about. The steak was kinda dry and could have used more sauce. We asked for more and they gave us a few tablespoons of extra sauce for $2.50 which is... interesting... and price was unannounced, but we didn't bring it up. Fish was under seasoned (bland), but the shrimp mango salad was good. Water is refilled quickly. Our server declined to make any other type of small talk. The level of service was noticable to us and I was surprised. At other similar restaurants we have rated, the servers are attentive and friendly. For example they usually explain menu items, give recommendations if asked, comment on how our night has been, our relationship status, any special occasions etc. However at Brix and Mortar there wasn't any of the friendly banter or service. Especially considering that it's Valentine's Day ... It's low bearing fruit to achieve a higher rating service wise. I don't think server ever introduced her name. The manager was good and rotated through the tables. Food came extremely fast. Set menu was $80 per person, additionally we had 2 cocktails and 2 champagne*. Cocktails were not the flavours I expected. Champagne was a little flat. There was a mix up with reservation where the reservation we made was *taken* by someone else with the same name. It's not that^ client's fault since he couldn't have book himself in, so it was probably a miscommunication with scheduling staff where staff misunderstood that^ client calling to book as calling to confirm appointment and gave them our reservation by mistake. All good in the end as both parties got to dine and our *champagne was compensated. Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Atmosphere and decor or courtyard 5/5

Went here with a few friends on a Thursday night, service was okay. Food wasn't super spectacular. At the end of the night, apparently a friend saw a rodent and got frightened, received no empathy from the waiter but justified that it was normal. Drinks was super unpleasant, if we wanted to grab tequila shots that night we would have just done so instead. Would I recommend this place? Hard pass. There are so many amazing restaurants in Vancouver instead.

Two friends and I went for our annual after Christmas/before New Year's dinner. Wonderful service from Jonathan, particularly when he suggested and then decanted the wine so it could breathe properly. Also helped me get to a cab (I walk with a cane). Very sweet. Food was excellent and lovely atmosphere. Wine list excellent too. Will definitely go back.

The waitress probably want to go home ASAP because the restaurant close at 9pm, we left the restaurant around 9:15pm. A fine dinning finished within an hour. We brought our friend here for his birthday. We had a reservation at 8:45pm, I got a phone call from the restaurant said we can come earlier because their last call is 9pm. We arrived before 8:30pm, and had our orders before 8:30pm. We ordered a bottle of wine, three appetizers, and three main courses for three people to share. And we guess the waitress forgot our wine because she took away our glasses while we were having the appetizers. After that, she served one of our main course. We almost finished it and still waiting for other two. We asked for the rest of the main courses, but the waitress forgot to take the other two mains. The waitress showed us her notes that there’s no other dishes we order. I don’t know why she showed us her notes, that’s not our problem that you forgot most of the orders.

I did not make a reservation and walked in the restaurant about 6pm. It was a warm evening so most chose to sit inside. I couldn't get a patio table but was happy to sit inside this eloquent bistro. I had my service dog with me and there was no problem me getting her in. Within a few minutes of coming inside it was a nice gesture of the staff to offer my dog a bowl of water. For my appetizer I had BEEF TARTARE ‘ABURI STYLE.' It was beautifully presented and the different, delicious bites I got in my mouth was just divine. For the main course I had their 'BRAISED PEACE RIVER LAMB SHANK.' It was quite simply the best lamb shank I have ever had. Ryan was very attentive towards me and he made sure I was well taken of, from the beginning to end. Oh, by the way, the cocktail I had 'YOU’RE HOT THEN YOU’RE COLD' was simply one of the best cocktails I have had anywhere and I have visited many countries and tried different ones.

We had such a nice experience at Brix & Mortar! We were going to sit out on the patio (heated and covered) because of COVID-19, but everything inside was very clean and well spread out so we sat inside instead. The atmosphere was excellent - it felt very relaxed but slightly more upscale at the same time. The staff were all super attentive and gave great service. The food itself was very tasty and I would argue very reasonably priced. We had the oxtail/short rib and lamb dishes. They brought over an extra dessert on the house for my boyfriend's birthday which was a nice touch and very appreciated. The live music was also a great addition to the vibe. Overall it was a great night with very friendly and professional service. Would definitely come back!

I took the longcod and my wife took the salmon. I was quite satisfied with my meal but the salmon of my wife was clearly overcooked. I took the pot du crème as dessert and it did not taste a lot like chocolate. For me this restaurant is overrated and I would advise people to go to the flying pig instead of this one.

I took my dad there for celebrating my birthday as I went there few times and I enjoyed the food and service. I made my reservation 12 days ahead and requested to sit at the courtyard area. When we got there, they offered a table that's right next to the door. We asked if we can switch to another table instead, the staff told us right away they are fully booked before trying to help us to switch another table even though there were few tables available that time. I later on talked to the manager about it, all he said is it doesn't matter how many days I reserved ahead, there's nothing to do with their system. And if they are fully booked, there's nothing they can do. Food is still great but I'm not happy with the service I had. I'll not go to this restaurant anymore.

Came here for the Taste of Yaletown festival and they had some amazing food (see photos). The atmosphere of the restaurant feels very upscale and luxurious and I felt like I was a bit under-dressed for it. But the staff is very friendly and nice.
