The Food - great food. Especially liked the chicken and the hand torn pasta. Three dishes between the two of us and we were well fed. The Service - sat at the bar and had great service. A team effort and 4 different people served us during the night. The Drinks - I'm a wine person, but you have to do a cocktail before dinner. In-house creations that are very well done. The Room - small place and not grand, but very particular and comfortable. Value - good value for the money.... which does not mean cheap, but not outrageous and considering the food I was happy to pay. Overall - great experience and looking forward to going back.

Reserved us for Mondays dinner, even got their confirmation but the restaurant is closed…….. ruined our date……

This place was soooo bomb!!!! Mussel chorizo garlic broth got me breathing heavily after my taste buds had a celebration after every bite. The miso chocolate ginger ice cream dessert made me faint each time I took a dive into the dish. …

I get the sense that Anna Lena is one of those places that, though highly rated, is still underrated. Their menu has never disappointed and execution is perfect!

George Ng

I love the torn bread, the butter spread was superb and the bread was crisp just right. It looked torched. Squid was good and not chewy but the batter made it heavy. The pork rillette wasn't impressive for me. The squash salad was good, the dressing was just right ratio. Ordered wagyu +$25 and it was melt in your mouth. Wished it had more portion with that pricey beef. Trout had a delicious lemongrass sauce with a hint of lime and coconut, portions needed more work. The dessert were too sweet and it needed help.

Elaine Chan

One of the best dinning outs ever! Everything was perfect.. the food, the service, and the atmosphere. …

Andrea Ganeff

Delicious food. The torn bread is great, although a bit too greasy and heavy if you have too much of it. Pork belly was delicious. The foie gras was OK, it came spread on a piece of bread like you'd expect your mom to make when you were a kid, plus the whole animal cruelty thing, so I'd skip that. I would give the restaurant a 5/5 if the portions weren't too pricey and sometimes comically undersized.

Best tasting menu I had in Vancouver! Absolutely loved the velouté & torn bread but the only course I didn’t enjoy was the dessert and even then it was good. Will return again!

Michael Zalewski

Top marks. Try the tasting menu and enjoy the show... every member of staff is well informed and enthusiastic, gracefully explaining each dish (7 courses) and it's accompanying wine, without being in any way intrusive. A truly gastronomic experience. Gorgeous food, lovingly prepared - you can taste the care in every bite. Can't wait to come back. Thanks AnnaLena. X jw

Went here for Dine Out Vancouver 2017 and I can see why this place is #1 on Tripadvisor. The food was great! The servers knew the menu and were able to make recommendations. The timing of our food being served was also on point. We ordered the bread, the squid and beet salad to start, and had the glazed boneless short rib and the trout for the main course. Everything was cooked perfectly and the ingredients were fresh. The panna cotta with the beet sorbet was a nice finishing touch. Portions were also reasonable. I would definitely go back again

Mark M. Pinder

Absolutely love the food. Every plate are also portions to share with your company. The bread is splendid and the chicken is crispy and juicy.

A cave-like lunge in Kitslano. It's Tasting menu is full of surprises, exceptionally delicious with great portion. We ordered Parte as a separate dish and turns out that was too much for me and my wife (But the Parte was so good even better than Chambar's!) Definitely worth order this Tasting menu for special occasion. Staff is very friendly and patient with our baby girl. Street parking is available, $4/hr before 6pm and $2/hr after. Enjoyed the strolling at Kit's beach after this feast. Can't be better. Will definitely visit again.

One of the best dinners I've had all year! Our server Rebecca was a cherry on top of an already extraordinary meal.

Danny Ioannou

Great mixed drinks, a decent selection of wine, good ambience whether dining out for two or with a group, and a changing menu that always retains a few must-have items makes for a satisfying dining experience. The fried chicken is exceptional, as is the chocolate-covered fried chicken skin. I'm not one for fresh oysters but others in my group have enjoyed them each time. The menu is perfect for sharing/variety (a hungry group of four could probably polish off one dish of each item).

Unique Fine-Casual Dining Experience. Menu Was Simple. Straightforward. Using Ingredients That Are Known To Even Thoae With A Less Than Refined Palate! Plates Are Served Family Style. So One Entree Can Be Easily Sampled Among Two People. The Toasted Bread Was Amazing!!! The Best I Have Ever Had At A Restaurant. Flavors Are Meshed With Texture Creating Culinary Delights! The Servers Were Pleasant! Available To Answer Any Questions Posed By The Menu. Servers Were Conscientious. Inquiring Of Any Allergies That The Staff Need To Be Aware Of For Meal Preparation Afore The Order Was Placed. For 1 Entree and 2 Small Plates (Bread and Peppers) The Cost Was Roughly 50.00. A Highly Recommended Restaurant In Vancouver!

I can't say enough about how good our meal at Annalena was the other night. This place lives up to its reputation and then some! Giorgio, our server, wowed us consistently with recommendations, conversation and surprise treats (it was my birthday). Everyone here is so friendly! We ordered the torn bread--which you pretty much have to order if you go--and the food runner was so passionate about the dish he stopped to talk about it for a few minutes at our table. I love service like that! We had the radicchio, grilled squid, fried chicken and mussels. All were standouts. I highly recommend the squid. Grilled squid is one of my favourites foods and it's hard to find restaurants that do it well.

Dan Jacobsen

Wow! What an amazing meal! I got the 5 course take-away, and after having mediocre set menu takeways from other restaurants, I really wasnt expecting much. But this meal was so delicious! There was more then enough food, and everything was cooked to perfection! It was amazing to feel like I was at a fancy restaurant, but staying home and staying safe. If anyone is looking for a set menu for takeway, I recommend Annalena!

William Mah

The tasting menu is a great choice for celebrating a special occasion. The buttermilk fried chicken, mussels, and beef bavette were amazing.

Michelle Chan

The service was absolutely amazing and the food was even better. First time at this restaurant and I was blown away by the care from the wait staff. They were super knowledgeable about the menu and attentive to plates and water cups. We each had a great cocktail and split 4 plates. The fried chicken was crispy and paired well with the home made pickles. Mussels were local and had a great lemon grass flavour. The torn bread with the mussels was really special. Pasta was freshly made and was well balanced. We were pretty full by this point but still really enjoyed the halibut. It had a great sear and the hash was bright. Overall this place rocked my socks.

Francis Bucher

Delicious! Had the heirloom tomato salad, very good with lots of burrata cheese. Also did the trout and pork belly, again, delicious! I was a little unsure of the oat porridge that came with the pork but once trying it was very pleased. Serving sizes aren't the biggest but the menu is meant for sharing. Staff was attentive and polite. Highly recommend!

Anna Lena is simply incredible. Just a beautiful experience, as soon as you walk through through the door, you feel the elegance, sophistication, the wow factor. This place has chic interior decor. Incredible staff, professional, attentive and extremely caring. There’s really no way to describe how good the food was other than to say it’s the epitome of gastronomical experience. Brovo!

Nicole Doucette

Thank you for the culinary escapade last night, Anna Lena. My partner and I have added a new favourite to our 'best-of' list in Vancouver. Highly recommend the tasting menu - fried chicken, mussels, and beef bavette were rather (and I don't use this term lightly) mind-blowing. Special thanks to Sarah for the impeccable, friendly service. We can't wait to be back!

A fantastic evening start to finish! For our anniversary dinner we chose AnnaLena, and are so glad we did. Was hard to get a table, so book in advance. We came in at 5:15, which was early, but so worth it. We chose the tasting menu, which was full of highlights. The halibut was a revelation all by itself. Every dish had its own perspective and complimented the next. Service was great, management was very engaged in the overall experience. We definitely felt cared for and were very happy when we left. Looking forward to our next visit.

Nicola Stephen

Tasty tapas style food. Attentive service. I recommend the pate. The chocolate covered chicken skin is worth trying. You only need one piece each.

Elaine Le

Was this the best dinner I've ever had? It was certainly in the top 10. Was it the best I've had in Vancouver - without a doubt. $75 for the 7-course tasting menu plus another $50 for wine pairings sounds like a lot (for Vancouver). But it was incredible, unforgettable, unique. Credit has to be poured on the new Chef de Cuisine. If this place doesnt get restaurant of the year I will be shocked.

Davinder Sethi

Great service....although finding waiters who can explain a dish talking through a facemask is rare....'what was that you just mumbled?' Besides that, the other complaints were: small portions in the tasting menu....i know its a 'tasting' menu but when its so good, is it wrong to want seconds? And where we were seated, close to the corner entrance, my partner kept feeling the breath and could smell the sweat from the fitness goers coming down the stairs from the adjacent Ron Zalko fitness studio. Pick your seat with caution. Big pluses for a great menu, wonderful creative foods, great presentation, lovely dishware, attentive service and big customer service kudos to them for accepting an expired gift certificate with no hesitation. Thats excellent customer service in my books. Oh last critisism: the dessert of cherries with ice cream was anti-climatic and too basic compared to the rest of the intricate preceeding menu. You must visit at least once. Parking is sometimes difficult so go early.

Justin Macalanda Pascual

One of our favorite spots. It's hard to get a reservation for a reason - the place is rightfully quite popular. Everything is seriously good. The buttermilk chicken is fantastic!

Josh Britton

Came for Dine Out and had the beets, cauliflower, and apple pie with a bottle of Pinot Noir. I have no complaints about the food, wine, or service, but I don't think it reflected the price. $110 for half a bottle of wine and three courses, …

Pei Zhao

One of the greatest meals & restaurant experiences I have ever had, top two or three. The chef has a real gift for creativity& each dish was as impressive as the last (six courses). I am sad that I do not live in Vancouver bc I wont soon get to eat at AnnaLena. It’s pricy but with good reason — great special occasion spot for dinner

Jess Pang

One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver and one I constantly return to. I love their new tasting menu format which means that whenever I go it is a new experience. Regardless of what the food is, the execution is always top notch. Taste and presentation are excellent and it is really good value for the price too. Anna Lena is a must visit restaurant in Vancouver. Update Nov 21, 2021 - Still a great experience!

The food was delicious and staff was very on top of everything. We dined here for a special event called "Arena" and every course was sports themed. Very unique!

Superb culinary experience - every dish, (all of which are designed to share), was balanced with flavours and textures, like a treat for your mouth. Very lively (definitely not quiet!) environment. Extremely good service, too. Creative bartender. Not cheap, but worth it!

Erin Low

The food here is amazing. Once in awhile, we always come back here. The mussels with torn bread is a must to order. The beef flank is great too. Once in awhile one or two dishes will change according to the season. I will highly recommend for anyone visiting Vancouver to try out this restaurant.

Steven Olsen

Great atmosphere and very friendly service and exceptional food. However, if you are hungry be prepared to order several dishes. The portions are very small! Definitely not a place for a "hungry man".

Disappointing to say the least. My husband and I dined at AnnaLena tonight for my birthday dinner. I’ve been waiting to dine here since it opened years ago but never had the chance. We decided to go with the tasting menu since there was so many dishes we wanted to try and we opted to upgrade to the wagyu. We really enjoyed the mussels and the oyster. The other dishes were good but nothing spectacular. We were excited to try the wagyu but when the dish came we noticed the beef was chewy. My husband noticed that it wasn’t wagyu but flank steak. We asked the waiter and he came back and told us he had made a mistake. He asked us if we wanted to keep our flank steak or get the wagyu and we asked for the wagyu. He told us it was going to take 20 minutes. Since this was one of the dishes we wanted, we said it was not a problem. After 30 minutes we finally got the wagyu and it was underwhelming to say the least. We were expecting it to be juicer but was disappointed. Then the dessert came and when I took a bite I felt a piece of HAIR IN MY MOUTH. I quickly looked down and saw a thin brown hair. I was beyond DISGUSTED. I told the waiter immediately. They took the dessert back. When the waiter came back I told him I didn’t want it replaced. The manager came up to us and offered us another dessert but I had lost my appetite. He then went on the explain that he’s “sorry but THINGS LIKE THIS HAPPEN”. I was taken back. I felt like it was an insincere apology. He kept insisting that things like this happen all the time at restaurants. Perhaps if things like this happen all time, food safe should look into what is happening in the kitchen. I have been to fine dining restaurants all around Vancouver and have never had such an unpleasant experience. When the bill came we noticed that they never took anything off or gave us a percentage off. I will never go back to this restaurant and I will be sure to let my friends and family know not to dine here.

Liona To

Foods are great love the flavors of oysters, chocolate chicken skin for dessert is amazing.

Jessica Hong

We came here for dine out and we enjoyed our meals. It was nice to try but I wasn’t wowed by all the dishes to feel like I would come back. The squid appetizer was our favourite. The fried chicken was also good, enjoyed the pickles on it.

OMG — amazing fabulous extraordinary Thank you to the team at AnnaLena’s for a fantastic evening Everything was delicious!!!! Service was amazing!!! Go here — you will be ????

Michael Malone

Next level good. Everything from the bread to the wine to the service...to the soap in the bathroom was outstanding! Can’t wait to come back. Oh, and don’t get me started on the desserts.

Randi Crace Temple

Fantastic place for dinner and drinks! I recommend reservations ahead of time as this is a fairly small restaurant and always a busy one! the food is delicious and the service is great. I have been there a few times and each time 3 dish is enough for sharing between 2 people. all in all a very positive experience

Olivia Chow

Pleasant dining experience for a casual date night. The restaurant was vibrant and modern but the noise level was too high. I could hardly hear my partner talking across from me. Some of the food flavour and complexity was outstanding. I highly recommend getting the mussels with the torn bread and toffee dessert. We also tried the duck and the steak. Service was good.

Kimberly Tan

Nice place, but did not meet our expectation for the price. We ordered the tasting menu, and the food were nice but not exceptional. Consider how much we paid, I won't recommend going unless you really have a lot of money to spend.

I dined here with a friend recently, and would recommend others to give Anna Lena’s service and fine dining a try. Their servers were wonderful wine connoisseurs who introduced many of their old and new world selections. I also found the space wonderfully decorated with all the whimsical BearBricks; it gives the white space a casual sophisticated atmosphere. We ordered their 6-course menu with the wine pairings, and most of their dishes were delightful and full of flavour. All 6 wine choices went well with their corresponding dish. We loved their baby gem salad choice with house made lardo, the garlic torn bread that went with their velouté, and both their mains: bison short rib and the wagyu, which were cooked perfectly. The dessert was unfortunately a little lacklustre in flavour notes after their savoury mains. The portions are also on the smaller side; you’re really there to enjoy the atmosphere and flavours. I would highly recommend to reserve an earlier time as they do get busy later in dinner service. Also, do the wine pairings along with the meal - makes it a lot more fun :) Thank you Anna Lena for a superb dining experience. Great place to celebrate intimate holidays and dates.

Marjan Farahbod

So delicious! The food was amazing and the service was the best we have had in a very long time! We did not do the tasting menu but instead ordered our own version of a tasting menu ordering 4 smaller bites to share between two of us and one entree sized meal each. Highly recommend and will definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Abey Witecka

My husband and I went to AnnaLena to celebrate our belated honeymoon and my pregnancy and we have the most amazing foodie experience. We were received with a sparkling wine for my husband and a non alcoholic version for myself. Everyone was extremely friendly and looked after us during the whole evening exquisitely. Special mention to our personal waiter, Martin that helped to make our special dinner unforgettable.

Sydney S

I've been to AnnaLena numerous times now and it is by far my favorite restaurant in Vancouver for overall experience. I would rate the ambiance 10/10, the food 9/10, and the vibe 10/10. I love Star Wars and all the figurines the owner has made around the restaurant. I recommend this restaurant to everyone I know. Love AnnaLena!!

Food here is delicious!! Make sure to make a reservation or risk being turned around. Favourite dish so far is the “beef” and “octopus”. It’s a pretty small space, just to keep that in mind for families with kids.

Stephanie Lovell

Went for the tasting menu. Wished the dishes were bigger. The trout/bread and fish courses were my favourites.

James Lamers

AnnaLena really delivered on innovative, flavorful, delicious plates which truly dazzled. Items not to miss include: oysters topped with shaved foie gras, torn bread with smoked beef tallow butter, mussels in a lemongrass/ginger broth, pasta special (beautifully hand-made and cooked perfectly), and of course the buttermilk fried chicken, coupled with a wine list which included many unique and hard to find wines. Can't wait to go back.

Flora Fiorillo

One of the top restaurants in Vancouver. Very trendy and always busy. Best to make a reservation if you want a table. The bar is usually available.

Shannon Brown-John

Best restaurant experience I've had in years. Food and service - outstanding. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. The oysters are a must!

Trish Everett

First time at Annalena, and it won't be the last. The service was very genuine, helpful and kind. The food was amazing. Very well plated, amazing flavours, great variety, and absolutely satisfying.

Max Grenzberg

This place is absolutely killer. We came here expecting to sit at the bar but instead were seated at the Chef's table, a little booth tucked at the one end of the bar facing the kitchen. All of the dishes were extremely thoughtful, delicious and seasonally focused. The staff and service was all excellent as were the cocktails and wine pairing. One of Vancouver's gems for sure.

Denise Hampson

Just amazing.. one of the best in the city!

Stephanie Hodgson

Simply amazing... AnnaLena has that rare winning combination of staff with integrity, knowledge and dutiful care as well as passion for creating outstanding dishes. Every menu item has an exciting list of ingredients that are impossible to imagine together until one by one, they arrive and are devoured by your your eyes and forks immediately. My family and I had a lovely birthday dinner, which was mentioned in our reservation, and the kind care and attention that was taken by Michael, our server, and all staff, truly was touching and memorable. Looking forward to my next visit; the bar looked inviting and the portions were more than enough for one or for sharing.

Amazing creative restaurant! I've been here a few times and I'm always impressed by their unique dishes. The service is excellent and the servers showed passion about the food they serve. I highly recommend this place!

Alexandra Tan

I come back to this place every month now. This month they have the dine out menu which I think is great. For a bit less price you get the same quality of food. You only lose one pasta course which honestly I don't care about that much. Overall I like their salad course the best, it is almost always my favorite. They use fresh, seasonal ingredients and make them tasty. Other courses are also good. Appetizers are always innovative. This time they had a shaved Foie Gras, it was impressive. Dessert is never too sweet or too big, leaves a refreshing note. My only suggestion for this place is to improve their fish main course. I got fish twice, once it was overcooked and dry, the 2nd time it was kind of flavorless. This time I got the port belly and it was amazing. Didn't taste oily and stinky at all. Service is also very attentive, they always come by to refill my water. Decor is morden, owner really likes KAWS, and have a good taste in music.

Amanda Tortosa

After getting a take-away dinner, we were surprised to find that there was no utensils as we were going to eat at a park. We asked for utensils, staff said that they don't have anything and suggested we steal some from Be Fresh market/cafe nearby ????‍♀️ Food was decent but cold by the time we got to eat it since we had to come back to the restaurant, then go to a convinience store to buy plastic spoons ????‍♀️ Sent them an email a few days ago, no reply.

Paul Middleton

Incredible experience for a very special occasion last night, the team went above and beyond for our group! The service and food were outstanding. We will be back!

Nicolas Poves

Great food and atmosphere. Their torn bread is amazing. This is only one of two restaurants where I would talk so highly of bread lol. With the other being Hy's and their infamous cheese toast.

Tiana Mackenzie

This was a long overdue experience for us. We were thrilled that the food, service and space lived up to its name. Essentially, we wanted to try everything on the menu and did our best to tackle many of the items. We went for both the pasta and salad features of the day, the famous torn bread, the radicchio, buttermilk fried chicken, the squid and the duck. It was one of those experiences where you were genuinely excited with the introduction of each new plate and delightfully fulfilled after the first bite. We also enjoyed the cocktail creations. I had noted in other reviews the recurring theme that the servers were unpretentious and Lindsay lived up to the part. I feel like she was just as excited as we were for us to finally be eating at AnnaLena - which is always a magical touch to any server/bartender. Immediately connecting to the table, she was efficient, attentive and hilariously quick witted; the icing on the cake of our experience. She also shared so much about the restaurant's story which we loved learning about. The space is so unique you can't help but want to know the mastermind behind it all (the chef and owner). Overall, we cannot wait for our next dinner at AnnaLena. Thanks team!

My favourite restaurant in Vancouver. The best thing to get on the menu is the mussels with the in house bread with cultured butter. SOOO GOOD!

I completely had fun at this place, the food is remarkable, as well as the bathrooms were not smelly. It was a little cool indoors, definatly was not the very best. The wait is good. I will absolutely consider going back once more if I have the opportunity. Me as well as my close friend purchased the special as well as we were not disappointed. My one recommendation is to maintain the cold outside. Come again!

Jin K

Upbeat atmosphere, decent food with nice presentation. All plates are good for sharing. Medium price tag, reservations highly recommended.

Excellent experience and fabulous food! Will definitely come back!

With physical distancing AnnaLena has temporarily halted their regular menu and introduced a tasting menu-only menu that changes every week. I went last night and it was great. Start to finish, the service was great, the food was creative and most importantly it was delicious. They didn’t hold back on their delivery and the small details really brought their dishes together. The only negative is parking can be difficult in the summer because of its proximity to Kits beach.

Dan MacDonald

Went many times before the pandemic. Not a fan of set menu but decide to give their "value" meal a try. Ok the food is outstanding as always, but the portion is TINY, small isnt the word to describe... $52 for the course and $9 for the 2 bites tenderloin upgrade and $12 for 2 mini scallop, so $73 before tax/tip for a set course that I 'd have left still hungry if I didnt order the extra bread which costs extra. Need a way to make up for the lost revenue due to reduced capacity I guess...but the portion size is amazing.

Shirley

If you need at have your expectations exceeded, this might be the place. Unpretentious, curious staff, excellent food and not a shocking bill. Thank you for a great dining experience.

Edwin Chen

The food and service was excellent. Would go back just for the bread, best bread I've ever had in Vancouver hands down.

Harry

I came in here for my birthday, with a surprise reservation - and I don't think a better place could have been picked. Right off the bat, every single staff member was friendly and welcoming, even before they realize we were actually dining with them tonight. Once we were seated, we were greeted with warm welcome and a drink, and things went uphill from there. Cocktails - A+. Presentation - A+. Food quality - A+. Wine pairings - A+; You get the picture. I'm a long-time hospitality professional myself, and I can't fully describe how much I enjoyed and appreciated the treatment and service at AnnaLenna. Great job, I'll definitely be back - and you have my business card if you need anything. ????????

Sharon Halpin

The food is great, recommend the bread, very special. Smoky and buttery flavor. The portion of the duck is bit small for an entree but taste very good. clean and nice environment, the price definitely matches with its quality.

This place is absolutely phenomenal! The food quality, taste, and presentation are flawless and unparalleled, leaving you wanting for more. Right now during COVID they created a simplified tasting menu that certainly serves justice to the high-quality ingredients they use. We had to wait a little bit to be seated but the service was warm and welcoming and the food was definitely worth the wait. As a picky eater myself this restaurant gets a 5/5 from me :)

Ed T

amazing servings and nice food. Creative menu. The only thing I am not quite fond about is that the restaurant is too noisy...

AnnaLena has been one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in Vancouver. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is excellent, and the food is outstanding. Getting a reservation could be tricky but if you plan ahead, it's not impossible. 5 enthusiastic thumbs up AnnaLena!!

Nice modern decorations. Each dish was absolutely delicious. Price is surprisingly reason for the quality. Would go back when they change their menu.

Amazing meal, 5 stars for food and service

Shane O Connor

Love the creative menus and the fact they change them all the time. The dishes are also small, sharable and affordable. Great way for small families to share all the delicious innovative foods. Discovered this restaurant during Vancouver Dine-out event. Went back once and will definitely go back again

Anna Andres

Visited AnnaLena on 2018's Dine Out - certainly an enjoyable experience, with a delicious lamb main course. Loses a star for rushed (albeit friendly and attentive) service and unremarkable squid starter and dessert options.

What I appreciate the most about AnnaLena is how they always provide immaculate service and consistently awesome dishes. This is one of few places that I have been thoroughly pleased with each visit.

Everything here was delicious and the service impeccable (and friendly). Highly recommend the Pushing Luck cocktail, torn bread and duck (should you find them on their seasonal menu).

First time here but definitely will be back again! One of my great experiences in Van city, great service, amazing vibes, love the tasting menu was worth it, I really recommend this place for everyone specially couples!!! Big thanks for the great service and food!

The best oyster I've tried. Every dish was uniquely flavoured. Understated decor and fabulous service. Great place for a date or to catch up with friends!

Brian Holt

Great atmosphere. Really inviting decor. Cool view of the whole kitchen. The mussels with torn bread was our favourite on the menu.

Ranita Lau

Undoubtedly one of the top places to eat in Vancouver - cannot recommend highly enough the bread or the tomato salad - both were AMAZING! The service was great and the decor was funky without 'trying too hard'.

Michelle Beldi

Visited last night for dinner and was not disappointed. The service was absolutely fantastic. I love the atmosphere of the place and the food was delicious. Although portions are small they are also full of texture and flavour and we left full. Will definitely recommend and be back!

Bonnie Hammond

To those wondering what the dine-out menu looks like, see attached photos. Go for the calamari, trout or steak, and most definitely the cinnamon-walnut-caramel dessert.

Amanda Tsang

This review is for brunch only, as I have never visited AnnaLena for dinner. The menu is simple, yet sufficient, with four benedict options, and a breakfast sandwich. Staff are all friendly and prompt. Ambiance is modern yet comfortable. The food is incredible! All hollandaise sauces were unique and appropriate for their dish. The fries are amazing, as they are covered in cheese (the best!).

Rob Iwasaki

I would rate this restaurant 4.5 stars but there isn't that option so I gave it an 5.The food is hands down amazing. The mussels were my fav! They perfectly cooked the mussel right before the meat would harden and shrink! They toasted the bread on point! Soft inside and crispy outside. The oysters came out first which was such an amazing plate to open. The pate was also a good choice! The service was inconsistent but mostly on the good side. Some of the servers were enthusiastic and friendly. And there were two there were quiet and emotionless but overall the good and bad service balanced out. Quite happy with my night. I would definitely go back and recommend!

Mel W

Worth trying at least once! Expect to spend at least $30 per person without drinks. Really well thought out menu that is tasty and visually appealing. Take in the decor and the excellent service. Atmosphere is everything. Great date location, or just a dinner with friends.

Inventive cocktails, plates so good that although they are made for sharing, you might not want to! Attentive, but discreet service. Thank you to Jeff, who made my reservation happen. We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening!

Momo G

Amazing, delicious and great service! My friends and I did the tasting menu and it exceeded our expectations!!! Every dish was an experience and did not disappoint. I can't even pick a favourite dish, to be honest, they were all so different but so good!

SONG_ 4_ME

Delightful fine dining in Kits. The creative plates are proportioned nicely and taste great. Excellent wine list with a good selection available by the glass. Very trendy restaurant with fantastic service

Alex Kwok

Truly deserves 3.5 but not possible with Google. The service was excellent but the food was only average. The two starters were excellent but the rest of the dishes were average with the extremely salty broth in the ravioli dish a big fail for me.

A lovely restaurant. The bread, oysters and the pasta dishes were very special. I would like to return and try the tasting menu at some point in the future.

Scotty Hagan

Great service (attentive but not intrusive) and well timed for mist of the courses. Dish presentation was nicely done. Some of the plates were a hit out if the park (buttermilk chicken was beautifully fried and the sauce had a kaleidoscope of flavours that were well balanced and highlighted the pickle; the pate was not a favorite - the consistency was similar to a fluffy butter icing which I did not like and the pretzel style bread accompanying was tasty but not a good pairing in my opinion.) The noise level was tolerable; there is only one bathroom per identified sex so there can be a wait. I would recommend a visit.

Carlos Pan

Excellent, attentive service. Knowledgeable staff and expertly crafted dishes deliver a fantastic experience. If the environment was different and if the Michelin Guide came to Vancouver, this would be a 1 star establishment. The bread is so fluffy and the smoked bone tallow butter is mindblowing.

Felix

Heard about it very long, first time trying. Great service! Tasting menu is delightful! Worth trying!

Ruxandra Fediuc

Good service amazing food. Torn bread was very yummy and the pasta and octopus dish was so yummy! I will definitely go back to try more food!

Robin Mahony

Tasting menu with wine pairing are highly recommended. Menu changes weekly!

Jack Hendry

Everything on point. Went for dine out but would try the regular menu for sure

Taylor Sharpe

Love this place. Pricey for sure, great atmosphere for dates. The serving sizes were pretty good. You have to get the bread. It is literally the best bread I've ever had.

Orson Stadler

Creative and extremely tasty and unique dishes , knowledgeable and inviting staff. One of my new favourite spots!

Lisabeth Hayes

Magnificent pâté! Great ambiance and superb food!

Sylvia Luu

Great food, tapas style, desserts are an absolute must!

Don Chua

Great tasting menu for an awesome price. We also had the wine pairing which was very good. Fiance had althe vegetarian option and enjoyed it, although the wine pairing was better for the meat dishes. Would highly recommend and will be returning!

Ashley Banbury

Simply great dining experience. We tried the special third anniversary tasting menu and ended up completely satisfied with every course, albeit there were no mind-blowing dishes. The courses varied from quality comfort food to haut-cuisine creations. The mussels with torn bread impressed us the most; the lamb was perfectly tender and balanced by ricotta gnudi – we can wholeheartedly recommend these options as a starter and main course. Overall, AnnaLena a definite keeper in the to-come-back list of restaurants.

Mat Hylan

It was such a treat dining at AnnaLena. Everything from the food, to the drinks, to the service was excellent. And it's no joke; their bread is to die for! Make sure to leave room for dessert!

Chloe Byrne

Just had a wonderful take out meal at Anna Lena. Four courses plus amazing bread, extremely well priced as the quality and creativity are top notch. New menu every week. And its not because I’m sick of my cooking during Covid as I’m a pretty decent cook!

Michael Moriarity

Amazing. Came here for my wedding anniversary The service was exceptional The food Even better. If you come here - and you should - get the wine pairing instead of a single bottle. Matched to perfection

Gary Stuart

Service was great. Food quality was good. Fresh ingredients but the majority of the dishes were missing initial explosive flavor when you first eat it. The best item was the shaved foie gras oysters.

Jennie Yan

Amazing restaurant tucked away on 1st. Great service from the moment you walk in, with attentive care throughout your meal. The dishes are all meant to be shared, so make sure you ask if you're not sure about the size. We got the torn bread, duck pate, bison tartare, octopus, mussels, and scallops. Definitely an amazing Vancouver meal, with the seafood really shining through. The octopus was my favourite dish, tenderly cooked with a smokey tint, alongside potatoes and horseradish. I was impressed by everything we ordered and would rate this restaurant as one of the best in Vancouver.

Ken Hamilton

Extraordinary meal. Every dish was perfect, staff was very friendly, price was just right. To top it off it's a very trendy setting. Eat here!

Tom McHugh

Loved dinner here. Staff weren’t pretentious at all. The food was so well made. Beautiful flavours that are clearly well thought out. Will be back!

Jasper Chen

The food is fantastic but I recently had an off experience with the service. We placed reservations for the 3rd anniversary tasting menu. When we arrived we had to wait an additional 40 minutes past the reservation time to get seated. 2.5 hours later we were only at the first out of six courses. I understand that they may have been slammed and over booked themselves, but when we asked a server he said we should be expecting to have a 2.5 hour meal-then why are we only one dish in? I have nothing bad to say about the food but be warned if you are coming here for a meal be prepared to wait.

Sharif Sharifi

Food is outstanding, staff is great and overall this place is a good value for your money. However I would have to agree with these who are saying that it can get pretty loud on a buys night. Considering that pretty much any night is booked up at this place it's kinda hard to enjoy your date when you can't hear what's being said across the table. I still wouldn't dare giving it less than 5 stars.

Jenna Cox

Great food and best service ever! Tonight we had the pleasure of dining at AnnaLena with friends for the third time. As always the food was great. From the torn bread to the flavourful pate, the succulent pork and through to the amazing apple dessert, the food was imaginative and the senses delighted. But what set this evening apart was the care and service we received from start to finish.... At our arrival at the restaurant we were warmly greeted by our host Renee. She was engaging and genuine in her attention and care. This was further supported by our sommelier Jeff who took the time to help guide our wine choices to make the evening even that much better, using a corkscrew on two good bottles of wine. At the conclusion of our meal we were informed by our waitress that the night was a special night as the owner's grandmother, one of namesakes of the restaurant, was celebrating her 100th birthday. This was certainly reason to celebrate and glasses were raised. But what set this night apart was what happened when we left the restaurant. Returning to our car after a great night, we were dismayed to find that the car park was locked and we had no access to our car for the return home. Trying everything we could proved fruitless so finally we returned to the restaurant to ask for assistance. A young man quickly offered to assist us but when it became clear that we could not free our car, this man offered us a drive home. After entering his vehicle for the drive home, we began some light banter. The man informed us that tonight was a special night as it was the 100th birthday of his grandmother. It was at that time time when we understood that this man was in fact the owner of the restaurant. Taking the time and effort to ensure that not only we were well fed but safely driven home left us speechless. Thank you Mike for your good food and your great staff. And thank you Mike for demonstrating such class and integrity. Happy Birthday, AnnaLena!

Arisa Yoshikawa

One of the best meals I’ve had in Vancouver! Every dish got better and better and I couldn’t fault anything. Highlights are the mussels with their house made torn bread and the trout! Staff are knowledgeable and friendly and you can tell they’re all passionate about food and the restaurant. Would happily come back again and again!

pepper lin

great food. great toy collections.

Paris Eastside

The food is great, recommend the bread, very special. Smoky and buttery flavor. The portion of the duck is bit small for an entree but taste very good. clean and nice environment, the price definitely matches with its quality.

Chris L

We finally made it out to Anna Lena last night! Well worth the wait and it did not disappoint. The food was spot on. Highlights were the Torn bread with tallow butter and the Fried chicken. I could just come in and eat those 2 dishes on my own for a meal! Service was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Marni MacLeod

Amazing food, outstanding service. We were 2 and as suggested by the staff, we ordered 4 dishes - bread, squid, scallop and grains, the latter our favourite. Also tried the chocolate dessert, love the different textures and flavours. All dishes were beautifully presented. Servers were always checking water, made sure the table was always clean and replaced plates and cutlery before bringing a new dish. Thanks for all staff who made our experience so good!

Tae Hwang

Sarah and the rest of the staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about their tasting course. The food was delicious and you can tell the chef cared about what they presented and how it tasted. Definitely, we will be back!

Sepehr Abedini Rad

Outstanding dining experience. The food was delishious, unique and perfectly executed. So hard to pick a favourite dish, the fried chicken... the squid... the trout... all absolutely fantastic. What really made this an exceptional night was the serving staff. Not only did they know every aspect of the dishes from ingredients to how they were prepared, but they let their personalities show through. Which is something I love and is quite rare in Vancouver to be honest. Undoubtably a 5 star experience for me.

Jane Cho

Really great food and service. Desserts were disappointing. Absolutely get the bread... So simple and yet so delicious.

Davis Appels

5 out of the 6 dishes we ordered are excellent! Creative dishes, interesting combinations of ingredients. Worth a try. Will definitely be back

Martha Katigbak-Fernandez

The atmosphere, ambience, service and food were all five-stars. From the moment we arrived for our early pre-show dinner, we were treated with the utmost of care. I very much appreciate how kind they were, how attentive and friendly every single server was in this establishment. The chef was smiling in the kitchen as he plated the incredible dishes as well. It was a truly a very relaxed and superb experience. The flavors of each course blew our minds -- the ingredients were perfect and the presentation was immaculate. We took my Mum there last night for her 66th Birthday. They treated our 7 year old child with great care as well even bringing them lego when it was clear their book was becoming less engaging :) The decor and vibe as well were super lovely...hip, bright and clean with edgy art. LOVED EVERY MOMENT HERE!! xo

Lincoln Chan

Reserved during Dine Out week and was surprised that apart from a handful of dishes, the Dine Out Menu was the only option. Felt the service and food suffered because of Dine Out program. Just felt they were trying to get you in and out quickly. Our guests had barely sat down before our server was asking for our order. Just an ok experience.

Mike Lum

One of my favorite restos on Vancouver. Flavors are perfect, presentation is original, ambiance is trendy and not stuffy/snobby. A gem!!!

Chun Guo

The vibe, service, cocktails and food at AnnaLena are, in my opinion, equal or better than any other restaurant in Vancouver. The menu is small, but extremely creative, always changing, and every dish is done very well. You can tell a lot of thought goes into everything they do. The service is attentive, but laid-back and the staff are extremely knowledgable. And even though AnnaLena is such an acclaimed restaurant, you won't experience the pretentious environment or staff that you would at many of Vancouver's other top restaurants. The humble brilliance of AnnaLena sets it apart from the rest.

Vanessa Dimmer

If you want a place to bring your significant other for a great food experience you need to try here. E asily one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver. The food is a real treat for your taste buds. The staff here are really nice.

Brendan Hu

Great Dine Out festival menu... we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The steak was to die for. My trout was good but not as good as the steak!

Sarah Wong

Superb food and service. We opted for the tasting menu and everything exceeded our expectations. The mussels with torn bread, trout and oysters are must try dishes. The toffee date cake was out of this world! The only downside is the restaurant can get very loud and busy but that's a good indication of how popular this restaurant is.

Lisa Tam

Four of us came for dinner and it happened to be dine out. We shared a salad, fried chicken, bread, pork terrine and beet to start. We ordered beef flank, cauliflower as entrees and finished off with the chocolate and apple. Overall we were very happy with the food. Presentarion, quality and taste. The service was excellent. We were not rushed to leave as not many people were there for the 2nd seating so it allowed us to socialize more. I do have to note I felt their toilet in the ladies was a little low and I am not tall. Lol!

Angela

Just had one of the most fabulous meals here for DOV! They offer an amazing 5 course tasting menu. Each dish is very well composed, all the flavours work so well together & the presentation is beautiful. As each course is served, they explained in detail the components of the dish. The service is impeccable! They are friendly & knowledgeable. The ambiance is relaxed & the decor is eclectic. This by far has got to be not only one of the best DOV experiences I've ever had, but also one of the best meals I've had. Anna Lena knows what they're doing & they are doing it oh so well. We will definitely be back & I highly recommend you check them out! @inspiringfoodie

Mor Tsoffi

Absolutely love Annalena for the exceptional food and the service. Had the set menu, and every dish was unique and memorable. It was very hard to pick a favourite. Highly recommend it and would definitely visit again!

Nicole Ty

Came here to celebrate a birthday, and to try the Fall Harvest menu. As usual, the food and service were absolutely amazing! Can't wait to go back!

Christopher Trieu

Amazing evening with incredible food and the El Diablo drink was the best cocktail I’ve had in a long time! The tear off bread is out of this world and the tasting menu was perfect! Would definitely recommend! Only thing that would make it better is if they gave you one of the Kaws in a “doggy bag” to finish off an amazing night… will definitely be back

Shonnah

The service is top notch! You feel welcomed immediately when you step through the door. Food is amazing. My favourites were the fried chicken, pork belly, and bread. Every bite was a delight, with different combinations of flavours I hadn't tried before. The whole menu is unique. My partner raved about the food for an entire week after!

Roland Haynes

Amazing food and service. Reasonable price for a bunch of share plates. Definitely a dinner spot for a nicer occasion or if you just like spending $70/person on dinner - who am I to judge.

Gary Baker

Ho lee Cow. Great restaurant. The food was incredible. We had a pate, muscles, shrimp, and sous vide lamb that was cooked for 36 hours, glazed, and seared. Amazing. For desert, though we were pleasantly full already, we had to sample the crispy chocolate-covered chicken skin. Sounds random, rocks worlds. Such a neat sweet/salty treat. The service was excellent as well. Very helpful, very cordial and friendly, but not too pushy or anything. Their bartender is also excellent, serving up our Manhattans perfectly to our order. The atmosphere is boisterous, but it's the sound of lots of great conversation fueled by top notch grub. If you're in Kits, this is a must try.

Tom Wang

We had the oysters, the tomatoes, bison tartar, Humboldt squid, mussels with torn bread and pork belly. Of the above, the only ones I would have again are the oysters and the mussels/torn bread. The oysters are covered in a generous layer of shaved foie gras and the mussels are finished off with a delicious tarragon infused oil. The torn bread was amazingly savory and crisp on the outside and challah - soft on the inside. If we come back, those two dishes are on my must-have list!

Jen Lau

Screwed up our bill twice, two people cannot order 4 coffees, we made reservations but they didn't even bother to check that we did. Not surprised it was empty. It's also a bit overpriced, I feel like you can get better food/service elsewhere. Eggs Benedict had perfectly poached eggs, but the sauce was a bit too creamy for my liking.

Jason Van Ewyk

Dined here for the first time with friends who have been on several occasions. A modern, contemporary designed space which could work well for groups or more intimate dinners. Service was attentive, friendly, welcoming, but not overbearing. Tasting menu was delicious, with adventurous ingredients and dishes. A super choice in the local hood.

Lucy

Came in for the tasting menu with the wine accompaniment. Dishes were well prepared though randomly paced. The progression worked well. Impressed by the wines and left sated. The servers were very informative and courteous.

Calvin Ma

This is my second time at AnnaLena and both times they did not disappoint! The vibe is trendy yet inviting and the food is decadent yet light and fresh. The cocktails are on the lighter side with unexpected notes but works really well. Make sure to get their torn bread and fried chicken.

Rohit Bhatti

The service was wonderful, the ambiance was okay, and the food was good (Chicken, Chickpea, Halibut), yet nothing about the experience felt special despite all the hype. Based on the reviews, worth giving it another try.

Steve Wong

Best dining experience I have had in Vancouver in quite some time. Food and service were both excellent. Can't wait to go back. That bread.....

Jessica Owen

Tasting menu is the perfect way to enjoy the menu, with a selection of eight dishes, you get to try a little of everything. No dish was a miss, from the start with the oyster and shaved foie, to the dessert shared platter. I especially liked the salad with the hummus and sumac. Service was excellent as expected and the interior cozy and not crammed. Great wine list to choose from. Well worth the accolades this restaurant had received.

T

Excellent tasting menu, which was a selection of dishes (6 courses) from the regular menu in smaller plates. A great way to try a little of everything, but if I were to do it again, I would order from their regular menu. We started with the Oyster, it was fresh, a little spicy (jalapeno mignonette) with shaved foie gras and a great way to start the evening. The next was the "greens," which consisted of chickpea panisse and tahini. It was surprisingly delicious! All the flavours balanced well and the miso eggplant on the bottom gave it a great flavour. The next was an amazing mussels in a creamy sauce with mushrooms and a hint of lemongrass. I had every drop, dipping my torn bread to soak up the last bits. Getting to bigger dishes, we had the crunchy buttery fried chicken next and then the best dish of the night, the sablefish. I loved everything about the sablefish. It was served with a base of creamy mashed potatoes, the pickled shitake gave he dish a good kick, but it didn't take away from the fish, which was cooked beautifully, with that crispy skin and flaky meat. We ended the mains with beef bavette. Only complaints about the meal: the beef was actually the poorest of the dishes that night. Although it was a good dish, that, and the blood orange serbert dessert was a let down from the amazing mussels and sablefish. I would have liked dinner to end stronger, with their best dish. This was almost enough for me to give 4*, but the attentive and friendly service we received throughout the night made up for it. The other complaint is the wait between meals. The couple who came in after us also had a tasting menu. They started while we were on our third course and by the end, they had "caught up" which tells you we had been waiting a very long time in between courses (especially between the fish and the beef) TL,DR: All in all, a great meal - but skip the tasting menu. Order the greens, mussels and sablefish. The plates are meant to share, family style. AnnaLena is lively, and can get quite noisy. The decor is quite interesting with Kaws bears throughout.

T.J. Almodovar Real Estate

Wow! The tasting menu we had was incredibly delicious. Each course was unique had so flavourful. The staff here are friendly and attentive. I am super impressed. Its out of my budget for regular visits but I'd definitely come back for special occasions. Highly highly recommend AnnaLena.

Christine Valdes

Best presentation of mussels ever. Loved them so much, beautifully created and the bread was so delicious....we thoroughly enjoyed a few drinks and starters here. Next time we will stay for more...thanks to the hard working Chefs! We appreciate the hours u work to make our taste buds so happy. Xo

M Ping

The vegetable tasting menu and wine pairing are so well designed and executed. The food and drinks were delicious individually, but paired together they were elevated to another level. The service was exceptional as well. The explanation for each wine pairing was detailed and each had a story to tell. We had a lovely experience. I would recommend this restaurant.

Linjia Chang

Oh, this was good. The duck liver pate is divine. The mussels are perfect. The buttermilk chicken is interesting. The pork belly melts in your mouth. Great affogato, too.

yumi ji

Food was amazing!! Ordered the torn bread (heavenly!), the buttermilk fried chicken (delicious!), and the seared scallops with pork Jowl (yummmm!). Friendly bartenders as well!

Karim Musani

Had the tasting menu and it was delicious! I also added the Chardonnay wine paring, well worth it. The staff was very helpful and explained everything I was drinking and eating.

Lily Tan

My partner here took me for dinner on my birthday. It was incredible. We got the tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything was out of this world perfect. People go on and on about the bread here. Honestly we reminisce about the bread often. The staff were all wonderful too, we really enjoyed our small chats throughout the evening with our server. It was my birthday but they made us both feel special.

Selene Jang

Wow. What a meal. One of my top 20 meals for sure. Fantastic food and legendary wait staff. Covid measures in place and followed with great care. Highly recommended.

Helen Jordin

Great menu and the service is professional and friendly. Menu prices are reasonable.

Spencer Perry

Great food and vibe as usual. Best for smaller group from 2 to 4, and share everything!

Eve Grenon-Lafontaine

Food is 10/10, would recommend this place to anyone wanting to try something unique. The only issue was the timing on their servings between dishes. We were here for 2.5 hours in total as our five courses were spread apart too far out

Serena H

We tried AnnaLena on recommendations. The entire experience was excellent. From the reservation process to the service & of course the Food. It was all first-rate. Service was friendly & personable. The weeks tasting menu was amazing. Each subsequent course seemed even better than the previous. Fine dining without feeling pretentious. We can't wait to return and try another tasting menu!

Leslie Beech

Spend the extra money and eat here. It's always worth it. There are only a few places that can match the quality of the food and service. The drinks are great too. Don't wait. Go asap!

Kelly Huang

Every dish was amazing. Delcious and uniquely flavoured. Exceeded all our expectations except poor service from Lindsay W. Not only she provided poor service but also she was being a horrible coworker. I felt bad for other servers who were very attentive and friendly.

A favourite in Vancouver! Exceptional food with well balanced seasoning, flavors, textures, and overall fabulous creativity by the chefs and bartenders alike. Great service and a lovely experience overall.

Rebekah Jenkins

This is quite a lengthy review but if you are looking for every bit of truth before visiting, it is probably worth the read. I came to Annalena tonight as the reputation of the restaurant precedes itself in mostly a positive manner, only for me to discover the opposite. The service was of an acceptable standard, not bad by all means but not something of note either. The atmosphere skewed towards being more dynamic than elegant, though it does suit the place in its own ways. However, due to the flooding amount of compliments here, I must say I expected more. The first three courses on the week's tasting menu were mediocre at best. The scallop ceviche had no remarkable features other than its somewhat presentable appearance. It carried a bland taste, combined with the cucumber's non-existing seasoning, made for a very poor opening. The second dish was the worst of all: it was basically a canned corn soup with bits of smoked bacon and cornbread that tasted nothing like jalapenos on the side. Not sure how the kitchen could even come up with such a dish. The third was a seared tuna dish, with the tuna being nothing memorable but the quite generously seasoned veloute and the texture enriching crumbs were two redeeming qualities of it. The next four courses were somewhat more refined though. The tortellinis were perfectly cooked and the chicken roulade showcased a bit of creativity, although both were not something that will absolutely blow your doors away. The sesame burger with oyster and mushroom relish, however, a delightfully balanced cheese dish that came right before the most surprising course of the meal: the dessert. The apple tart was perfectly conceived with bits of saltiness really enhancing the sweetness of the caramel. The sour cream ice cream was one of a kind as well, coming with a powerful hit of fragrance alongside the sugar crumbles. The dessert was definitely the most well-crafted course amongst the lot, as well as the petit four, which is actually fried chicken skin covered with cold chocolate. I must say that whoever was the mastermind behind those two dishes was more aware of how food should be prepared and presented in a restaurant of this calibre than the ones who did the others. The meal, all in all, had a very strong finish but was severely lacking in almost all categories during its early stages: flavours, textures, aromas and presentations were nothing close to what I would expect in any restaurant that is even remotely connected to the words "fine dining". In any case, the presentations were still of an appetizing level, but the taste was simply insignificant, let alone any demonstration of creativity and inspiration. If all of the seven courses were on par with the dessert, I am certain that the whole menu can be elevated to a whole new level. If it provides any mitigation, this was only my first time at Annalena and I note that their tasting menu is altered every week for the time being. Only time will tell what is on the horizon for the upcoming menus but unfortunately, my opinion is that this week's menu is unworthy of a visit. On a side note, the pricing was quite reasonable, however at this level in the culinary world and with the fantastic reputation of Chef Robbins, it is not so much about the pricing anymore but what the restaurant can deliver.

Han Li

Had a great experience here, service from Rev was top notch. Tasting menu was delicious.

Susan Pendakur

You need to have the mussels! Went back just for that! Service is amazing! Loving the wine list. Cocktails were average

W L

Great service and really good food. It's a bit on the louder side at the restaurant but it's still a nice atmosphere. I highly recommend getting the bread, it is without a doubt the best bread ever!

Amine Dean

Amazing experience, the mussels are incredible

Ryan Tessier

When portions are reduced to two forkfuls per dish, one expects it to be something truly amazing to savour. Instead, we had tiny dishes that were ordinary at best and boring at worst. We would have rather spent $250 at Burdock & Co, Nightingale, L'Abattoir, or Hawksworth.

Andre Powell

Excellent food and great wine pairings. It's obvious that the front of house staff is passionate which enhances the experience.

Edward Zhou

This is easily one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my life. The food, the service and the atmosphere were just fantastic. Thank you again AnnaLena team!

Justin Reiher

Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Sarah, was one of the most professional yet down to earth servers I’ve experienced in Vancouver! Highly recommend trying the buttermilk fried chicken (the pickled zucchini adds a delicious zing).

Spencer Powell

Was here for dineout, and loved it. We will be back to try their regular menu! Highly recommend their oysters~ Pricey overall, but definitely worth every penny!

Janice Williamson

Great atmosphere. Really inviting decor. Cool view of the whole kitchen. The mussels with torn bread was our favourite on the menu.

DJ

You can always expect to have a fantastic dining experience at AnnaLena. Menu is not huge but every dish is beautifully presented and full of flavour. Service is friendly and efficient.

D T

Fantastic food, impeccable service, and a comfortable place to hang out over a bottle of wine on a warm summer evening. We tried the tomato, bread, bison tartare and scallops, all of which were great, but our favorites were the scallop and tomato plates. For dessert the chicken skins were a fun and tasty way to end the night. The servers were very friendly and a great help when deciding what to order food and drink wise. Looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes!

Benjamin Bolliger

I received a gift certificate from a friend who had heard this place was highly recommended. I went with a friend, made reservations (thank goodness, despite it being a Sunday, it was pretty full). We did the tasting menu. Service was over the top (new set of plates & utensils every course). However, they were *not* pretentious and it didn't feel as such. Tasting menu was well portioned & paced. It was a little bit of everything. Seafood was cooked to perfection. So, then you ask if I liked it so much, why only 4 out of 5? The service was great, but not the best I've ever had. My multiple servers didn't even tell me their names! (though they did tell me what was on the plate). As Vancouver has been, and recently dubbed a lonely city. Service was slightly impersonal // doing their job. The service was very professional otherwise, more big industry hotel/hospitality versus locally owned place. I would go back, and I would recommend. Apologies for the poorly lit photos.

Joe Gramc

Fantastic Food! Great Service!

Jeanny Cao

A pleasant dinner experience, the service was a bit excessive, not the kind that bothers you, just an observation. They served the dishes one at a time (more like a tapas place), different than usual, but ok. Small menu but the meat and vegetables were cooked to perfection, flavors were exquisite. The dessert was amazing. Cocktails were good too. It is a bar so the ambiance is casual and noisy.

Qadeem Salehmohamed

We really enjoyed our tasting menu, cocktails and wine! The service was also really good on the patio!

Alex K C Lau

We really enjoyed the tasting menu we had at AnnaLena. Such a thoughtful menu and the flavours builds up and gets more intense after each dish. My faves were the trout, tortellini and the duck - the duck was perfectly cooked and so tender. The dessert was just the right sweetness and was the perfect end to the meal. If you’re not into alcoholic drinks, the From East End to West End mocktail was refreshing. The service was also great. Highly recommend this restaurant.

rex wang

Everything is beautiful and delicious, I could eat 10 servings of the torched bread, so good. Excellent service with tight wine list (including orange wine)

Alexandr Moroz

Came here to celebrate a birthday with the tasting menu. All other tasting menus have now been ruined for me since this one was so good! The dishes came out with the perfect amount of time between each and each dish was actually much more food than I anticipated. We sat at the bar and got to watch the bartender make all the fun cocktails. Excellent ambiance and service. Will definitely be back for future celebrations!

Jani Wittaker, nee White

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. 10/10 incredible.

Lorenzo Schober

Great food and service. Make sure you get their bread. The best bread ever!

Simon Ching

We went to AnnaLena for dine out. Atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Our server was attentive and charming. The best part was the food. It was quite an experience for my palate. The food was prepared with intricacy and passion. Exceeded my expectations.

PropertyTechGirl 1

Came for Dine Out and had the beets, cauliflower, and apple pie with a bottle of Pinot Noir. I have no complaints about the food, wine, or service, but I don't think it reflected the price. $110 for half a bottle of wine and three courses, including tax and tip. Food was pretty good, with the highlights being the chickpea cubes in the cauliflower dish and also the bread with beef butter. Service was attentive but nothing special. The one outstanding item was the plating and presentation of the food, which was very beautiful. My dining partner had the fried chicken and the broccoli/beef and felt similarly.

Billy Lam

This place has an amazing tasting menu!! Compared to other places, $75 for this menu felt like a steal. They give good portion sizes, leaving you full, but not overly stuffed. Every dish looked and tasted great, I was impressed. This is a great place to celebrate a special occasion of just have a great dining experience in a more intimate setting. Service was great and I’d recommend people to come here, it’s one of those hidden gems that’s worth a long drive to get to.

Elaine

Exceptional service, great atmosphere and whomever is in the kitchen- their hands are guided by supernatural forces. Best food in Vancouver, bar none.

This restaurant introduced the multi course tasting menu and has consistently been rating as one of the top 100 restaurants in Canada..our decision to try this very interesting approach was made as other friends just raved about their experience and our choice was awarded with a top flight dining exposure to the chef’s focus on local farm seasonal items and creative evolvement of the ingredients ..the staff are welcoming and very well informed in all aspects of the dining experience and it was a pleasure to listen and interact with everyone as each course was presented.. a totally delightful evening and the food was superb..and so here we are once again with our waiter Scott providing very helpful information on the tasting menu and the accompanying wine tasting that we chose..this restaurant is so special, the staff are friendly and attentive and the service was exceptional..thank you again Scott for your attention to detail and for the very helpful information on the wines we tasted..we will be back soon, probably for my birthday in December..and here is my Birthday and the evening was Devine !

Michael Carr

Nice space and service, everyone will feel welcome at Anna Lena! Most dishes on the tasting menu will meet high expectations and the ingredients are prepared well. While the dessert was perfectly portioned and not overly sweet, the petit fours stole the show.

Annalena is exceptional every time. The wonderful people who works there are always knowledgeable, and create a special curated experience. This restaurant serves amazing west coast/ fusion inspired fine dining that does not disappoint. I truly hope they survive through this surreal time as the people who work there are all superstars at what they do! I look forward to many more dining experiences at this premiere Vancouver restaurant. This a great example of a wonderful Vancouver fine dining experience we should all support! Extraordinary plated food that is rich in flavour and presentation! Super special staff! Excellent cocktail and wine menu!

This restaurant is very quickly becoming my favourite place to go eat. First off, if you are not getting the wine pairing with the meal you are doing it wrong! (unless you are pregnant/don't drink). I say this because the care and thought that goes with every course is matched to perfection, and to go along with that everyone serving you is very knowledgeable about the wine that is being served with the meal. I have to say that from the first bite to the last of every course the food and wine pairing are magically delicious. My experience has been that this is the equivalent of wine tasting with first class food which just leaves you in awe with every bite.

tinny tso

Unpretentious and delicious all the way around. We did the early august tasting menu and had a couple cocktails, friendly service. Would definitely come back and try the fall one!

Michael Minicucci

Been wanting to come to this restaurant for the longest time. Tried to walk-in to grab a table but quickly found out that you have to reserve online. We ordered the mussels, chicken, pasta, steak, bread and of course their chocolate covered chicken skin. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoning was . The dishes of the night have to be the mussels off-the-shell and the pasta. The chocolate covered chicken skin is interesting and worth a try! Service was incredibly attentive and friendly. Highly recommended! Also, be aware of their cancellation policy as they will charge a cancellation fee of $25 per guest.

Delicious food. But our server ruined it. Not attentive at all, told her no foi gras and they brought foi in the salad. Never came by to ask how anything was, and screwed up our tab. We had told them it was our anniversary in the bookings but nothing extra was done.

Grayden Klain

Very tasty and inventive food. Portion sizes for cost are small, but that is to be expected somewhat when one goes to a higher end restaurant specializing in local ingredients served tapas style.

Kevin Han

Overall very good dining experience. Mussels were particularly tasty. It’s busy though so make sure to make reservation beforehand.

Extraordinary taste sensation!! Classy af but still down to earth. Incredible food and drinks and the service was outstanding.

10 out of 10 for their attentive service! Our waitress made my bf had a special birthday dinner! All dishes taste amazing. Portions are a bit small but it’s worth it!

Yuki Sze

One of the best fine dining in Vancouver. I ordered a tasting menu which changes every week. All food tasted great, was well presented and a fair amount of portion was provided. Server explained each menu and was very friendly. A table was not close to the other tables in the patio, which helps with some social distancing while eating. I am definitely going back for the next special occasion.

Arseniy Tkachuk

Outstanding Summer tasting menu. Great atmosphere, friendly service.

If you don’t know what to get give the tasting menu a try, it takes the best they have to offer and let’s you sample a little bit of everything. The Oysters and the Squids are a must!

Came here for dineout. Ordered bread and it was heavy, but spectacular. Starter and entree were presented well, and flavours and value was great. Dessert was the only 'miss' of the night. They tried to hide a caramel into the mousse, but the mousse texture was off. Maybe it was sitting in the blast chiller for too long? Not sure. Service was excellent.

Rachel Stopard

Came here to try the taster menu as a Birthday treat. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and cared for. The staff manage to not come across fake like they do at other places, and seemed genuinely happy serving us. Every dish was exceptional, and every mouthful we wanted to savour. Only comment would be that it would be great to have draft beer available rather than from a can. But otherwise this was amazing and will be recommending to others.

Exquisite tasting menu experience, exploring various pasta oriented flavors when we went. Their menu is frequently updated, currently every 2-3 weeks approximately. Ours was a very strong price/value offer with 6 different courses plus dessert for $68pp. The price will vary with what is being offered and in season. Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about everything, offering us great options pair our individual drink preferences with each course / the entire meal if you prefer to keep it simpler. Will be back for sure.

Amazing restaurant! We’ve been here a few times and it is definitely one of our favourite restaurants! The food is delicious, service is excellent, very nice atmosphere, and very reasonable pricing. Our go-to place if we’re bringing friends, out-of-town guests, or just having date night for the two of us.

Alyssa

Definitely deserves 5 stars! The best restaurant in the town :)

Nicole Watt

Best restaurant in town and arguably one of the best in the world for what they offer. Has never disappointed. Flavours, menu and service all exceed the nearest competition in town and are world-class in service and flavours.

Josée Paradis

Amazing food and excellent service. The delicious food began with the bread! The tomato salad was excellent, chicken delicious, and daily pasta unreal. The rib eye steak was nothing special but we were also full before it came

Phyllis Tsui

WOW, Just ???? delicious. My husband and I came here for our 10 000 day anniversary. We had a six course tasting menu and wine pairings. The food was phenomenal. Great progression and portion sizes. Food was beautiful and tasty. Lots of creamy, salty, crunchy, umami flavours. The ahi foie gras and the agnolotti were some favourites. Torn bread was very good. But everything was great. The service was attentive, friendly, and spot on. Anna Lena definitely exceeded all our expectations. One of my new favorite ???? restaurants. Also the cherry biscuit at the end of the meal. Amazing!!!

Dione Shun

Came here right after dinner just for drink. It’s always good no matter I came when they just opened or 5 years later now. The quality of their food is so consistent. Love this place!

xuxin sun

Start to finish, one of the best all around meal experiences I have had. The service was so good, I would struggle in the future to not listen to every recommendation our server made. The bread and tallow butter is tops though, you have to order it twice. Cap it off with the chocolate covered chicken skin and boom...you're fed.

Jay Chen

Tiny portions, over seasoned, poor service, and WAY OVERPRICED. Overall, I'm very disappointed of the experience. The only good thing about AnnaLena is probably the bread; everything else is just not worth the price.

Ken Tsang

My fiancé took me here for a date , we ordered the following dishes squid , bread , vegetables and pork. Everything were incredible except the pork, the pork belly portions were small ( 4 pieces of small pork belly ) and arrived cold on the place when the dish is meant to be hot. We did not have a single staff pass by and check in with us on the last two dishes. When our server finally came to collect the plate ( thinking we need the bill since we stopped eating the pork plate) , I explained why we didn't eat it, she did not respond to it and simply gave us the bill. Definitely disappointed how the situation was handled ( NOT handled )

Steffi Oei

Local ingredients in a casual but prompt setting. The oysters and bread where outstanding, and to finish off, the chocolate chicken skin. Don't think about it twice, just enjoy it.

Lilia Jang

I’m updating my previous 5 star review to 4 stars due to a few hiccups summarized here and gone into more detail below: • Forgot that it was a birthday celebration • Slow food service • Very disappointed in the beef striploin We came here to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday on Sun, Dec 30. I had made reservations online and also called to inform them of the birthday and asked if they could put a candle in the dessert which they happily agreed to do. Unfortunately, when the time came for dessert, they had forgotten about this request and no birthday “flair” was presented to my disappointment. We opted for the Tasting Menu (December 2018 - $74 per person), here’s my breakdown and rating for each dish: 1. Oyster with shaved foie gras (FIVE STARS) – A single oyster with shaved foie gras, two of my favourite things paired together that you typically think wouldn’t go well together but HOT DAMN it’s so good. So good that I ordered an additional two more for us to enjoy! 2. Salad (TWO STARS) – This was one of the least impressive dishes out of the menu. It included greens, chickpea panisse, tahini, miso eggplant, pickled beet and dukkah. The selected greens were bitter and hard – it felt like eating tough grass. 3. Fried Chicken (THREE STARS) – Fried buttermilk chicken with lemongrass aioli and pickles. My bite of chicken was quite nice, juicy and crispy on the outside. My boyfriend mentioned that his piece was over-battered and he didn’t get much chicken. 4. Mussels with torn bread (FIVE STARS) - OK, so besides the oyster with foie gras, this is my next favourite dish. HOLY DAMN, the torn bread is what I imagine crack cocaine to feel like. They take a loaf of sour bread, remove the crust and put it back in the oven. The result is all the light, fluffy goodness of the inside of a bread loaf with the extra awesomeness of the crispy edges. Dipping this bread into the delicious broth was singlehandedly one of the best thing I've eaten in a long time. I will definitely come back here to have a full serving of this dish TO MYSELF (sorry, I refuse to share). 5. Sablefish (FOUR STARS) – Another fabulous dish. Excellent flavours. The fish was cooked to perfection and was so light and buttery. The smoked whisky foam on top was AMAZING! 6. Beef striploin (TWO STARS) – Very disappointed in this dish as we had set our expectations really high at this point. Don’t get me wrong, the flavours were quite good but the cut of striploin was terrible. It was full of gristle and incredibly tough to chew and eat. We had to spit out a few pieces that we could just not get down. I let our server know our disappointment and he graciously provided us complimentary dessert wines to compensate which was much appreciated. 7. Dessert, chocolate brownies with grapefruit ice cream (THREE STARS) – Good but the grapefruit ice cream overpowered the other flavours (coming from a grapefruit fan!) 8. Dessert, three different dessert bites (THREE STARS) – Chocolate truffle, piece of caramel and a beignet. The beignet was our favourite! The kitchen food service in between each dish was noticeably slow. We found ourselves wanting more and getting hungry as we anxiously waited for the next dish to arrive. We nearly finished the entire bottle of wine before the last dish (which was beef); I had to consciously save some red wine to pair with it! :P Front of the house service was excellent throughout our time here. We were offered complimentary coat check, our bottle of wine arrived in good time, our glasses were never empty, our napkins were folded during washroom breaks – all things which don’t get unnoticed! Great work considering this place was PACKED on a Sunday night between 7-9pm. Overall, some highs and lows during our experience here. Like I said, I’d still come back for those mussels and torn bread.

Actually, the deep fried chicken skin Dessert is surprise me! I never thought that chocolate and chicken skin, these two unrelated ingredients could create such delicious food!

Dana Westermark

Great dinner last night with old friends. Too bad I didn't take any photos of the food. Dishes are quite unique. Chocolate chicken skin!

Elsa Rice

I wasn't disappointed with the food but I also wasn't blow away. We came in with very high expectations so that may have been the problem. The food was fine but I found it all to be quite heavy. The staff were all very kind and quite knowledgeable about the food and drinks which I did appreciate.

One of the best fine cuisine in Vancouver!

AnnaLena is a fantastic place which serves clever and tasty small dishes, ideal for sharing. The unpretentious atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. The radish dish was particularly tasty.

Cassandra Cowie-Bélanger

I completely had fun at this place, the food is remarkable, as well as the bathrooms were not smelly. It was a little cool indoors, definatly was not the very best. The wait is good. I will absolutely consider going back once more if I have …

sinung choi

One of my new favourite restaurants. Their oysters are the best I’ve had and I would come back just for those. Their muscles and duck were good - you can see the attention to detail in every plate. The staff were attentive but laid back; atmosphere was lively. The table next to us had the tasting menu which looked great with generous portion sizes - would definitely come back to try that. Overall, high end food and staff without the pretentious feeling.

privjiate L

Modern stylish young restaurant with knowledgeable friendly staff and good food. The dishes are interesting and creative, however not as finely rounded as I would expect from a restaurant in this price class. The wine list is alright, but does by no means only present save choices. Overall a fun dining experience, with still some room for improvement.

Scott Breier

4th time back....best dinner yet. Honestly for $74, a 7 course meal is a steal. Their food is sooo well seasoned. Every dish stands out while you eat it. I'll never stop going...!

Grace

Such a good experience as always! Every dish on their vday menu was ???????? the tenderloin especially! Rebecca was what really tied our meal together though, thank you for going above and beyond tonight!

Darren

Place looks amazing Love the lego storm troopers it made my day Bread was so soft, crispy and flavorful and the homemade butter was delicious Fried chicken was great as was the pasta (best part from the pasta was the kale, other than that it was just basic). Ended the night with the fried chicken skin covered in chocolate. It was interesting Service was outstanding from everyone who made contact with us. Didn't wait more than 3 to 5 minutes for anything. Timing of each course was excellent

The most delicious food i have ever had in Vancouver!! Everything was so flavorful, so well balanced! The ambience was so modern, non-pretencious. Our server was super fun and friendly! This just became my fav restaurant in Van! I will definitely come back!!!

Matthew Lim

First off the quality of all the dishes is outstanding. Beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. Their menu is a combination of high end western style and fusion from other areas such as Japanese and Italian. Tapas style so each meal is brought out one at a time, with a full cutlery change in between each course. Cocktails are also excellent, using creative ingredients like cardamon to make them memorable. Price range is also very reasonable for the quality. About $140 total for two people with multiple cocktails.

Great experience! Definitely try the tasting menu if you haven't been. I love how every staff runs around and fills in gaps whenever needed too.

I’ve visited Anna Lena a few times and have always had a great experience but last night it did not measure up. The service wasn’t good (transactional and clumsy), the wrong wine was brought (and charged for) and the food was just fine. We had brought friends from out of town with us so they could experience how great Anna Lena is but we were left disappointed to be honest. Hopefully this is just a one off but I won’t be rushing back in a hurry, which is a shame.

Kath Ham

We loved every single dish that we tried. They were all plated to share. Buttermilk chicken was surprisingly tasty and not oily at all. I loved my cocktail as well. The only minor issue was the tables are placed very close to each other that you have little privacy. So I don't recommend it for a romantic dinner.

Vivian L

Torn Bread. Torn Bread. I cannot stress that enough! It’s on their “secret menu”. The food and service here is always amazing, and I love the rotating tasting menu. I think I have come here enough times now to make a proper review! The only downside is the noise level. I went as a party of 4 and could not even hear anyone at the table, nor the server as she was describing the dishes. If you’re seated in the booths, the sound echoes on the inside of the arch. Not sure if the group of ladies seated in the other booth were loud, drunk, or just… loud, but we heard their entire conversation all evening. TLDR. Ask for seating by the windows, where it’s tucked away for a quieter dining experience. Do not sit at the booths.

James Brown

Service was exceptional! Everyone who works there is friendly and very detailed oriented. Food was good portion was just right. Keep up the good work!

Kemp Attwood

Absolutely amazing every time we go ,and weve been several times. It never ceases to amaze me their attention to detail in every dish that is so expertly composed .

Shoku M

Fantastic service and amazing dishes. What more can one ask for? A must try when in Vancouver.

Joseph Wong

I live in San Francisco, and have sought out the best food in over 10 countries, yet this is still my favorite restaurant in the world. Seriously, if you have the means to, go; now. To sum it all up: "Extraordinary meal. Every dish was perfect, staff was very friendly, price was just right. To top it off it's a very trendy setting. Eat here!" -my best friend

Phil Lau

This was my first time eating here. The service was excellent. I have never had so many delicious shared dishes. Everything was hot and fresh. It is nice to see an independent restaurant in a cozy neighbourhood so busy on a Monday night. Hidden gem.

Tim Nguyen

Our group of 4 visited AnnaLena last night and we’ve been several times but this was our first time visiting in a COVID environment. We really enjoyed our experience yesterday. It didn’t feel like AnnaLena has skipped a beat due to COVID. It was still the great vibe and ambiance that we were used to prior to COVID and our group which included 2 pregnant women felt very comfortable with the spacing and protocols they’ve put into place. We had the tasting menu and each course was delicious and perfectly portioned. We’ve had many tasting menus from our travels around the world and it’s typical for at least one or two courses to be forgettable which wasn’t the case last night. Our server last night was very well spoken and her positive energy was noticed by our entire party. Overall a 5 Star experience and I am already thinking of visiting again.

Landon Cabrera

I will always love Annalena. MUST DINE!!

L L

The ambiance, decor and experience is really great. Love the art inside, the layout and makes you feel "comfortable" even in a fancy place. Food is great so are the desserts and cocktails. Service is top notch! Washrooms are interesting too hehe.

Arminder Deol

AnnaLena's has such a thoughtful menu. They regularly refresh the items on the menu, and they are always very creative and ABSOLUTELY delicious. I would echo this for their cocktails. They are on the pricey side, but absolutely worth it. Their torn bread is very addictive!

Mandy Chow

The amount of care and creativity that goes into making the ever-changing list of dishes makes AnnaLena one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in Vancouver. Easily.

TJ K

Creative dishes they have. always wanna come back to try. Tried this very interesting dessert - chocolate covered chicken skin.. very complicated taste. overall, great service, fantastic food ????

Brian Leung

Delicious, delicious, delicious! Can't fault anything. Atmosphere great, staff attentive and knowledgeable, food delicious - get the bread as a side. Trust me you won't be disappointed!!

Penny Bishop

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We had such a wonderful evening at Anna Lena. The entire experience was fantastic and we can't rave about it enough. Atmosphere: Quirky, clean, casual and fun. It's a very relaxed atmosphere with plenty of the chef's whimsical collectibles placed throughout. Food: All plates are perfectly sized for sharing. Go with someone that can match your appetite and enjoy the menu. We tried 5 plates (tuna, radish, octopus, trout & beef) for mains and would be hard pressed to pick a favourite. All dishes were very unique and beautifully presented. There were some great dessert options as well. We went with the petit four - a selection of bite size treats, perfect to satisfy a little sweet tooth after a great meal and the chocolate covered chicken skins. This is for the more adventurous and perfectly matched to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Give it a go and you'll be surprised at how much you enjoy them. Service: Just as good as the food. The staff were fun and engaging but not overly intrusive. A fine balance that they nailed perfectly. Our server Jasmin made great recommendations. I truly hope the owner appreciates her and the staff that worked with her on our visit (Oct. 9/16). Coming from Toronto we've had experiences where great food has been ruined by poor service too often. AnnaLena will be on our list whenever we're in the Vancouver area and will always be recommended to all our friends, family and coworkers.

Hagar Mohd

I've been here for brunch and it was to die for. I am here now for their anniversary menu, 1.5 hours into sitting. I've been served 1/6 courses. I think they overbooked, but today's experience is pretty abismal. I'd like to come back but I don't want to spend 3 hours at dinner...

Nick Pizza

My husband booked here for me because of my birthday. I really got impressed at every single food we ordered and service as well. It was PERFECT. Definitely, I recommand here to everyone. Special thanks to Jesse who was my server at that time. It was fantastic :-)

Gayle Hinkley

SARAH - you are the QUEEN/EPITOME of perfect service. People who don't understand how service could make/break a dining experience need to spend a night in your section. The perfect mix of knowledge, warmth and friendliness! Your passion really shows in your words and kept us excited for every wine and dish. I've done quite a few tasting menus in Canada/around the world including the 12th ranked best restaurant in the world and your service exceeded them all. The rest of the dining experience was quite flawless as well - the rest of the staff, the timing of the wine and dishes, the ambiance of the restaurant, the unique wines and of course the food! Everything was delicious but the foie, duck and parmesan ice cream courses were a standout for me. I'm quite picky about duck, as I feel it is a lot harder to perfect the cook on a duck over steak, but it was expertly done and it was my favourite course/pairing. Thank you for the memorable birthday experience :) I will definitely be back.

Vicky C

Dined for dinner. Was a very pretty and hip setting. Good service. We did the tasting menu with one wine pairing. Loved the three starters. The salmon and the meat main I was not too fond of. The salmon sauce was overpowering and the steak meat was cut in a way that made it tough. The torn bread was amazing. The wine pairing was interesting with great white wines, I thought so great that the wine were more suited to sip on own and did not really complement the food. The restaurant was busy and slightly noisy. It was still a good experience and definitely would recommend getting the bread.

Annette Goliath

Amazing food / shared plates. The place is small which makes it easy to manage and get the servers attention. The Tuna was mouth watering.

Great service, atmosphere is very simple and the people are very chill and friendly. The food portions are relatively small but perfect for sharing if you're in a big group. Their kitchen and staff do an excellent job of bringing out the dishes sequentially. We tried 4 of their mains, 2 appies and 3 desserts and loved every dish. The food is very unique in that they grab different ingredients and mix them all together. Great food experience. Expect to spend $50 per person if you're grabbing appies, main and dessert. Definitely try the chicken, scallops and pork.

jin jin

Over priced for what it is. Went there on a saturday night while it was busy and had no room to wait anywhere. So we just stood behind a curtain and endured the cold. Food arrived and everything was lacklustre. The only good thing I had was the $6 dollar bread. The wagyu had zero taste to it do I had to ask for salt. The buttermilk fried chicken sauce tasted funky, and not in a good way. Maybe it was just an off night but I probably wont come back.

Thomas Carruthers

My partner brought me here for my Birthday on Sunday and we absolutely loved the whole dining experience! New favorite place in Vancouver. The atmosphere is great, cosy but not too dark. Some of the most unpretentious, kind and attentive staff I've come across. The food was incredible. We had the torn bread (which is to die for), pate, squid, fried chicken and pork and were utterly stuffed and happy after. Seriously delicious. Can't wait to come back and try everything else!

Shauna McClung

Tried the Dine Out menu with my cousin & his gf. Portions were okay, though it could have been a little bit bigger. Other than that, food was really good and the ambience was great! First time to try Orange wine as well.. Fabulous experience for all of us! Would definitely come back—perfect for date night!

Haoyang Zhen

What a fabulous find. We will definitely be going back. Exquisitely prepared dishes with perfect pairings and a story behind each wine ❤️❤️❤️

Marcela MA

This was our first visit to AnnaLena, we were taking advantage of the Dine Out Vancouver 2020 Menu. The food and drinks were outstanding - the drinks you could taste each layer of flavor. The add on of the oysters is a MUST. The food was perfectly done, combination of flavor were amazing, good size portions for a three course meal - you were not overtly full. Desserts were lovely. Thank you to the chefs for putting this selection together. Food and drinks were served in a timely manner, service staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, happy to make suggestions. The ONLY DOWNSIDE was the "Resy" program. I'll NEVER use it again. FRUSTRATING to use: can't make changes to your reservation, the number of text messages is infuriating. Text to "confirm" your reservation the day before? You immediately get a message back saying "we didn't get it". What a poor system compared to what we experienced in person. Call AnnaLena directly. With the exception of the online booking system, we will be back to enjoy what they serve through the year.

Caroline Chan

Very interesting restaurant, showing different collectibles and certainly tasty tapas food items. Each plate has fantastic unique flavors. Highly recommended!!

Tristan Yoon

Too loud for 4 to have a relaxing conversation. The food was good but heavy on grease. Greasy bread with tallow, you have to order! No salad, no veges. Chicken was good, but greasy. Salmon was good. My stomach was heavy all night. Two years ago we had a wonderful birthday celebration for two here. After this June 2019 experience, Not going back again.

Lara Manrique

A trendy place to be and I think it's a prerequisite for all the male staff to be sporting a man bun. The room is vibrant with good food and even better drinks. You will pay a premium but I think it is worth a try, even if it's just the once. What we had were mainly hits with maybe a few misses here and there. The squid had a great cook on it, very tender, but the flavour profile did not make sense to me. However, the oysters with foie gras were all kinds of right. I am very snobby when it comes to steaks as I think I can make it as good or better than most places, well my hat off to the chef who made the Wagyu Short Rib because that was probably one of the best beef dishes I've ever had. Tell your server the type of cocktails you like and then ask him and his man bun recommend you one, you want regret it.

Verena -

The food at AnnaLena was absolutely beautiful. The perfect balance of interesting and multilayered flavors, while still maintaining the comfort element. I loved the feature vegetarian pasta with celeriac puree and coffee bean infused brown butter. Everything was beyond delicious. Most satisfying meal I've had in a long time. Service was also excellent and our server made great recommendations and accomated dietary needs in the group. Great place !

Kelsey Mason

Whole new experience!!! We really enjoyed it. P.s: Barney Gumble is superb :)

Catherine M

I have been to AnnaLena several times the last few years and every time is an incredible experience. The service, food, drinks and atmosphere are all top-notch. It's become one of my favourite restaurants in the city!

Michael Nickiforek

Always a go to when I have out-of-town friends visiting! I've been to many fine dining restaurants and can definitely say their bread with smoked beef tallow butter is the best in the city! The bison and chicken are also quite good. Staff has always been attentive but never intruding and always willing to assist. Only hesitation I would have in recommending is it can be quite noisy when it is full, which is often, so it may not be a place if you are in the mood for quiet conversation with someone.

Cody Robertson

Excellent food and service. Ordered oysters, pate, pasta, fried chicken and mussels. They were all out of the box and I had no complaints.

Lynnda Smith

Tasting menu was fantastic and service great. Totally recommendable If you are looking for fine dinning and you don't mind paying for it.

Victor Jianto

The atmosphere here is very nice. Quiet, dark lighting. The servers were very attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes. Dishes came in a timely manner and they were all so good! We ordered the pate, mussels, scallops and fried chicken. The mussels came with the infamous bread and wow DO NOT LEAVE THIS PLACE WITHOUT TRYING THE TORN BREAD. The mussels were really good too - the sauce was perfect for dipping. I really enjoyed their scallops but it's a little pricey at $36 for three prices. The accompanying pork belly, however was also superb. Definitely recommend Annalena for a fancy meal.

Mia S

Will definitely be coming back. Wonderful meal with a wide array of textures, unique flavours and beautiful colours. Service is also top notch!

Amy W

I've been here 6 times now. Each time really good - we recommend it to all our friends. And it keeps getting better - our last tasting menu was one of the best meals we've ever had. The new kitchen Chef added a new level of refinement to Anna Lena. We're avid foodies and the only better meal we've had was at Alinea in Chicago - one of the best restaurants in the world. p.s.: Vegetarians delight, they do amazing dishes for us!

Hyo Kim

If you go here you have to have the potato puff mushroom!! This is my favourite restaurant in Vancouver, I highly recommend anyone wanting a modern meal with excellent service to give it a try.

Gloria Wong

The restaurant is small with a chic vibe. Each dish in the tasting menu are interesting and build the flavour on top of each other. Really enjoyed the food and the experience! The only regret is that we didn’t get their house made bread, we are definitely going back!

Sarah Garner

Went to the "ARENA" themed dinner, it was clever, imaginative and insanely delicious

Stan Szeto

I think I can say with confidence that I had the best meal of my life here. Went for the tasting menu and was completely blown away by every single course. I highly recommend you get the drink pairings as they elevated everything to an almost inconceivable level. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

Lily Nguyen

Anna-lena has become my new favorite restaurant in Vancouver. My girlfriend and I were blown away by the amazing food and the excellent service. This place really puts a lot of effort into the fine details. On top of that the food was reasonably priced. I cannot wait to return.

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we both love this place! From booking the reservation to the food, to the fantastic service we received from our server. The food was amazing: fresh, flavourful, and delicious! I would highly recommend to all my friends and family! A must try!

Have been to AnnaLena twice now and it will be our go to for special occasions. It never disappoints and the staff are always excellent. We were being served by Rev tonight and she was so friendly and incredibly informative. She really made the experience for us.

Definitely one of my favorite places in Vancouver. Each item is so well thought out and the pairings are unique. I thoroughly enjoyed every dish. Oyster with foie gras shavings, chicken pate, halibut, wagyu and cherry chocolate with buttermilk. All dishes shared.

Pretentious! We went to Anna Lena’s and started with a drink while deciding what to eat. Neither of us were too hungry so we decided to share the tasting menu as well as adding a few items. We were firmlly told by a pretentious tattooed woman behind the bar that we “could not’ share these dishes. Really? We “could not”? I suppose she feels that she had the right to tell us what we can and cannot eat. We weren’t comfortable remaining there after that unwarranted comment so we finished our drinks and went for a wonderful seafood meal a few doors down at ‘Odd Fish’ where the staff ‘encouraged’ us to share our dishes. I have no doubt that the food is good at Anna Lena’s although judging by the size of the portions, it is not for one who likes to eat something substantial. THe prices are not in the $$ - $$$ range as advertised unless you only want to eat ‘torn bread’.

This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had!! My boyfriend and I were on vacation in Vancouver (visiting from San Francisco), and I made the reservation for his birthday. Because he’s a chef/restaurant owner (and I work in tech), I struggle to find ways to “wow” him in the food arena, so in the reservation notes I asked for some help to make it a special meal. The staff at AnnaLena was incredibly accommodating and friendly, so nice that my boyfriend even commented early on that they were “almost too nice” haha! The ambiance/vibe — very cool! It also helped the weather was perfect that day and we sat in the “patio” area (the indoor section next to the large door that opens). The food. Superb. So, so, so, so, so delicious. All of it. I’m not a foodie by any stretch of the imagination, however, if you date a chef long enough you start to pick up on what is good and what is hype. This place is REALLY GOOD. I think anyone (foodies and non-foodies alike) looking for a for an impressive meal and great cocktails in a fun/trendy spot will find that here! It’s definitely not over priced for the level of quality food and service we received (in fact, we were surprised the bill wasn’t higher when we got it). At the end of the meal, my boyfriend was so happy that he made sure to speak with the chef before we left to let them know it’s one of the best meals he’s had in a VERY long time. Thank you, AnnaLena, for making me look good and helping make my boyfriend’s birthday special with such a memorable meal!!

My favourite restaurant in Vancouver! Frequent changing menus with perfect wine pairing! Highly recommended!!!!

Eating at AnneLena is always an incredible and unique experience. But most of all...It is delicious!! This is one of the best kept secrets in the city. Its a high end restaurant that offers innovative and unexpected food combinations such as their Chocolate Fried Chicken. I hv been here three times and every time was mind blowing. If you are a foody and you are in Vancouver...This is a MUST TRY!!! Very full wine list as well. Service is also impeccable. Very polite attentive service from the time you approach the hostess stand to the moment you rcv the bill fold. I am excited to go back next time!

Consistently delicious food! Doesn’t try too hard. Simply delicious. The torn bread and oyster with shaved foie gras are MUSTS!

This is easily one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my life. The food, the service and the atmosphere were just fantastic. Thank you again AnnaLena team!

AnnaLena stole our hearts from our first meal there, March 2019, and we’ve been going every few weeks since. We are smitten with the service, enjoy the wine choices, luxuriate in the food, and revel in the atmosphere.

Favourite spot - delicious dishes without being pretentious.. highly recommend for a special occasion! Loved the fried chicken which is a must every time I go.

We first dined here was about two months ago and had a fantastic dinner. To make sure it wasn't just a one-time lucky experience I wanted to try it again before leaving a review. Yesterday, we brought our son and girlfriend here to celebrate his birthday and we weren't disappointed. Every course was thoughtfully prepared with every element playing a crucial part of the overall dish. The food was absolutely top notch and the presentation was lovely. Our son had just eaten at his favourite restaurant the night before and came to the conclusion that AnnaLena was now his new favourite! The service was phenomenal. We had Rebekah as our host previously and this time we had Tara. They were both excellent at making us feel welcomed and really enhanced the dining experience with their descriptions of each dish and expansive knowledge of the wine pairings. You can really feel that the staff are passionate about the food and wine and really want you to get the most out of your time here. For me, AnnaLena is my favourite "tasting menu" restaurant in Vancouver. I love being surprised at what a restaurant decides to present to its diners, and Chef Robbins's use of ingredients, flavours and textures continues to impress. I can hardly wait for my next visit!

One of the best dinning outs ever! Everything was perfect.. the food, the service, and the atmosphere. I took my girlfriend out for her birthday, and made a reservation a night before; I told the host over the phone that I will be going to the ferry terminal after dinner, and she remembered it or made a note of it, in result, the service was on top speed. Chelsea was our server who was very kind, friendly, and sweet! She took bunch of pictures for us although it was really busy. We could tell that she was enjoying her job and she was putting best effort in making her customers happy. The food itself was extraordinary, and cannot forget to say that it would've been good even if it was just a regular dish, due to the outstanding service and mood that the restaurant members has made for us. I liked how the main dishes come out one by one and people are to share it. It creates a good bond between the people you eat with. Thanks again to Annalena for the great dinner for my girlfriend's birthday, and thank you Chelsea for your loveliness.

I use to come here for brunch (long time ago they use to serve brunch - it was awesome, like really awesome & delicious food) Has been meaning to try their dinner menu for a long long time now and I REGRET not putting it my priority to do so. Love their creative tasting menu and how it alternates every week or so. Would wish for large portions though .... because I’m greedy and because the chefs did such a fab job! Great atmosphere with friendly staffs all around ~

Outstanding! As a party of four, we tried almost everything on the menu, plus wine and cocktails - and there really wasn't anything that wasn't extraordinarily good! The mussels, squid, and oysters were particularly outstanding. Great service, too! All in all, a remarkable experience!

A friend I had not seen for some time kindly offered to take me to dinner & asked me to pick the place. AnnaLena was an easy choice. It is with in easy walking distance, its food is imaginative & good, its selection of cocktails, wines & beers is good & its has a nice bar at which to eat & talk. My friend had never been to AL’s but as I had been there a few times, she was happy to go with my suggestion, as she was with my further suggestion we meet & eat at the bar.

Great cocktails, delicious food, amazing service, cozy atmosphere

I’ve visited Anna Lena a few times and have always had a great experience but last night it did not measure up. The service wasn’t good (transactional and clumsy), the wrong wine was brought (and charged for) and the food was just fine. We …

We ate at AnnaLena's last night. The space is trendy chic and elegant all at the same time, great service and the tasting menu was so delicious, we tried lots of new flavors, each better than the last.

Anna Lena in one word: perfect. The tasting menu with wine pairings is hands down one of the top five best dining experiences I've had in Vancouver to date (I've lived here since 1994). The vibe is laid back with welcoming, knowledgeable staff who clearly love exceptional food and drink and provided excellent service without being pretentious (I liked that very much).

We had the Valentine's set menu and it was amazing. I had the fresh oysters, Dungeness crab, squash ravioli, bison, and a sorbet dessert. Everything was beautiful and tasted as good as it looked. Our server, Michael, was attentive and funny and gracious. The restaurant was also super accommodating of my dietary restrictions. Usually the modified dishes are subpar compared to the original dishes, but in this case there was extreme care put into the modified dishes and they were absolutely delicious. Thank you for the lovely dining experience on a special day. We will definitely be returning :)

Tasty tapas style food. Attentive service. I recommend the pate. The chocolate covered chicken skin is worth trying. You only need one piece each.

Tom Maslauskas

Had a really good experience a year ago. Last week however, it was ok. The food didn't wow me as the first time. Maybe it's because they didn't change the menu very much, and I just wanted something different? Anyways, if you haven't been here, come try it. Favorite thing on the menu was their bread (super fluffy), and their foie gras oysters.

Nothing extraordinary here. Maybe the "funky" decor? Rather small and very noisy, imagine a trendy hair saloon. Laud music, laud people, open space and bad sound proofing. If you don't mind the extreme noise and open spaces, then all is well. Food wise: some dishes are very nice indeed: really great lamb, maybe the mussels, but definitely not the octopus or the heirloom tomatoes salad. The chicken is deep fried, far away from a healthy dish, tasty but not fabulous. The salmon is nice. I am not sure if the dishes are really made to share? Bigger than tapas, smaller than regular.. Maybe for 2 people (sharing). The service is good, changing plates between seafood and lamb, for example. Desert list is very short, just 2 options and not interesting enough..t depends with what you compare. Cactus Club for example is much better, better tasting food, most of it and lower noise levels (!).This is a good place to have brunch, casual lunch or dinner, no problem, but definitely not the place to have a special event /celebration. Might be an interesting experience. Not very cheap either (I am comparing with restaurants like Boathouse, Keg, Cactus Club, The Beach House). My first choice was Seasons in the Park for a special anniversary and ended up at AnnaLena after reading the reviews. I am not sure why this is considered an amazing place with amazing food. To be fair, it iis just ok.

Excited to try this place but I am already annoyed about the confirmation policy. Firstly, we had to input our credit card information down to ensure our booking (i've booked this last week). Secondly, 5 days prior for our reservation I get a text of confirmation. I understand there are cancellation preventions in place but and due to the challenges with COVID you'd want to make sure that each guest is accounted for. However, It's almost like there's no confidence in the guests showing up, just my opinion.

I’ve been here twice in the past few years and both times had a phenomenal experience! Everyone on their service team in very attentive and personable. Their food is always delicious and unique to other restaurants in Vancouver. I would highly recommend checking this place out if you haven’t already!Looking forward to visiting again in the future!

Amazing meal tonight at AnnaLena. We were blown away by the intricacies, flavours, and presentation of the food. The coursed out meal was balanced from dish to dish, and each one was memorable. Our server Tera was fantastic and went above and beyond. The cocktail menu was no joke and everything was lovely.

Favorite spot in Vancouver! Perfect in every way.

My husband and I loved the tasting menu last night. The food never disappoints here and every dish is beautifully presented. My husband also had the wine pairing with his meal. The only thing which marred our experience was that the sommelier missed serving the wine for the second course. He apologized beautifully when he brought the wine for the third course and said he gave my husband a larger pour to make up for forgetting the wine for the previous course. In retrospect, we wish he had brought the two wines together during the third course as AnnaLena's wine selections are highly exclusive and my husband missed out on a bit of that experience. Otherwise, a wonderful night.

Service was superb, food was even better. This restaurant is by far my favourite restaurant in the lower mainland. We had the wine pairing with the 7 course tasting menu and it brought the experience to another level. Will definitely come back again. Bravo to the chef, cooks and wait staff!

Phenomenal. The service, the food, the wine pairings. Sat at the bar and was treated to great conversation (thank you!) as an accompaniment to a wonderful meal. The crispy skinned duck was a standout, as well as the onion ravioli

We LOVE this place. The food is well-balanced and loaded with flavour. The staff is always knowledgeable and fun. We are sad to see that Martin is leaving! His wine knowledge has always added to our dining experience.

I have been here twice before but years ago. So I was extremely excited to come back for their tasting menu. Every dish was delicious and worth every dollar!! My favorite would have to be the scallop and veloute. Our server was so nice and helped me choose wine pairings for my scallops and also my main, which was a lamb that was cooked perfect and served with grilled zucchini and sweet green pea puree. I will definitely be coming back!

This is my new favourite date night place. They are SO accommodating for my allergies and my physical limitations, do get reservations 100% of the time. Their menu changes up a bit seasonally and I feel like it's best if you basically just share everything because you're basically going to want everything on their menu. Try the chocolate chicken skin, seriously.

Renee Andrews

Came in for an anniversary dinner with my partner and was so impressed with the food and the service we received! All front of house staff were so attentive and really made us feel special during our time there. The food was incredible of course as well. The chicken skin and chocolate was super inventive and the squid with XO sauce knocked it out of the park. Definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Vancouver. We will be back!

Celebrated my birthday here. Make resos, try a cocktail and enjoy the tasty appys. Great service. Just a little pricy but it’s a place I’d choose to go for special occasions

We have been to Annalena half a dozen times, and each time was exceptional, with the exception of our dinner Friday night - August 12. We requested the pasta daily feature as part of our order, however the server told us it was sold out for the evening. In the middle of our dinner we saw pasta being tossed in the kitchen and we asked our server about it. He said those customers were here long before us, and we continued with our dinner. It was until we were settling our bill two hours later at 11pm that we saw ANOTHER pasta being tossed. Our server overheard us commenting and checked with the kitchen and the chef tossing the pasta SMIRKED. Moreover, the chocolate chicken skin was unevenly seasoned with bites intolerably salty, and the fried chicken tasted unseasoned. We were also surprised to find that neither the executive chef nor the chef de cuisine were there on a Friday night. We are very disappointed with Annalena, one of our favourite places to eat in town.

Amazing dinner for Dine Out. Everything was very tasty and the service was great. Will definitely go back, maybe for a special occasion.

This place was soooo bomb!!!! Mussel chorizo garlic broth got me breathing heavily after my taste buds had a celebration after every bite. The miso chocolate ginger ice cream dessert made me faint each time I took a dive into the dish. Salty & sweet combo is insane. The chef is so talented. The server/bartender was awesome too. I'm in love with this restaurant.
