Other than the insane busyness the place was AMAZING!!! Would reckondmend any time!!!! We must have got there right before dinner rush. We got there and it was decently busy, then a half hour later the line to order was out the front double door and out the outside door. They either need a much larger place or open another on just for the dinner rushes. The line was that long for well over 40 minutes and it froze in the dinning room bc of the draft. The line got that long twice during our visit. Thank you for the great staff and comfy area.

I asked for my steak to be rare, they brought it out to me cold, and the sides weren't even browned. This isn't my restaurant of choice for potsdam. I was not impressed that the cook was ok with sending out raw meat.

I have dietary restrictions so had to order an entree instead of cheaper buffet. I ordered the salmon but can't eat the potatoes or bread...but I had to pay full price for an overcooked WHITE piece of salmon and a small salad. The veggies were overcooked and brown, so I had some tomatoes that were wrinkled and raw broccoli. The waitress was awesome, but the food stinks.

I like to visit Ponderosa for lunch as I am able to get my plate as soon as I sit down. There is an excellent salad bar and a good variety of hot foods. The food is always fresh and got or cold as appropriate. I rarely order an entree as the buffet is so good. On the occasion that I have ordered an entree, generally a steak, they are cooked to order and tasty. There is a taco bar and pizza. A dessert bar is available with ice milk and sprinkles. My family has met here on many occasions for celebrations. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Sunday morning brunch is good here also for the same reasons. This is definitely not haute cuisine but a good place for fresh wholesome food.

It seems that the food is getting worse each time we go and we use to enjoy going. Yesterday I basically ate side dishes because there was only fried chicken out and Meatballs ( I don't like either) and neither looked good. All the sides were WAY overcooked or dried up! The vegetables were soggy and even the desserts were caked in from sitting too long, even though dinner had just started not too long before we got there! We paid $26 for 2 buffets with water! That is pricey for not leaving satisfied! I will never eat there again. I basically had a plate full of soggy starch!! YUCK!

We've been going for several years from Ottawa, Canada (Potsdam NY is the closest location). Four times out of five, it's a hit on all fronts. The fried chicken is my raison d'etre for going there. The odd time we time it wrong and hit the crowd and have to wait for the buffet to be re-filled, but that's the only down side, and that is strictly a mea culpa.

A very off night there compared to normal. Ham tasted funky and since I've had food poison from there before I didn't eat more than a bite of it. Nothing was really on broccoli salad was frozen as was the cheesecake. Was very disappointed since today is my birthday and we traveled from Malone.

We have been going to Potsdam Ponderosa for years. We really enjoy the cozy atmosphere and super friendly staff. I love the all you can eat buffet. We often order it for lunch. A good place to bring the children as there is such a wide variety of food that you can mix and match. Great place!

I like that they have a "take out" option. They charge by the pound for to-go plates, and you can get a pretty big salad for around $5. The dressings always sketch me out, though. Like, there is a lot of dressing in those containers and I have no idea when they trash it, or if they just keep topping it off.

My family and I travel often into the States, at least once a month, we even have a favorite waitress at the Pottsdam Ponderosa named Ashleigh, I was always extremely happy with the food until our last visit. The wings, which are my buffet favorite have been changed! Now they are have a new extremely thick almost breaded kind of batter which is hard to chew and bite through. Once u manage to peel away the batter the chicken was raw due to the batter being so thick, even tho the batter was quite dark and overcooked, They are very disgusting, please return the wings back to the ones previously. thank you, Denise Poirier

This place was never great and was managed by a woman with no buisness sense but WOW did it go down hill in recent years. This is the last time I eat here. Close to $40 for my family and the buffet was terrible. No chicken because they didn't make enough. Everything else tasted terrible. We all had stomach problems when we got home. Salad bar was a mess and was dirty. Overall, this place fits the filthy area perfectly.

The selection of food wasn't good on the buffet. When at the register placing our purchase,they had a special deal posted..with the purchase of a buffet at regular price get a 7pc shrimp meal for $1.75. So that is what I did, however I did not get the 7pc meal. I was just given 4 fried shrimp and charged $1.25. Then our waitress forgets 2 drinks. Nothing fancy about this place,unless you like flavorless and over cooked pasta I don't recommend the mac&cheese.

Hot Food not fresh, serving dishes empty. Some food dried out. Salad bar was ok. Multiple tables listed as reserved. However they were not reserved, they were tables that the management did not want to use. The best part of the dinner was the dessert entrees. Definitely not worth the price we paid. Very disappointed.

Our waitress was great. She kept the dirty dishes off our table,she checked to see if we needed refills on our drinks. It was busy and the young girl on the buffet kept it filled and clean. She paid attention to spills and messes people made on salad bar .
