Not the kind of place you bring kids to. No kids menu. I had the steak and rice with the beef barley soup. It was excellent! I would definitely get it again! My daughter had the alfredo. She had one bite and didn't like it. She also didn't like the chocolate milk. Enjoyed the calamari. Next time I come I won't bring her.

I've been coming here for a few years now. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff are all very friendly and the food is fantastic. The bread rolls are always warm and fresh, the butter is perfectly soft and never hard like it just spent 5 hours in the freezer. If you order a steak, they include the cooked mushrooms with the meal. There's no extra charge for the mushrooms, which is wonderful as many other restaurants I've come across do charge you extra. Also all mushrooms and other vegetables are always fresh, never the frozen or canned kinds. I even came in with some family on my birthday and they brought me over a free slice of cake and sang happy birthday. Plus I'm not a big drinker but I do enjoy having a cocktail every so often and they do those very well too.

This was our first time here, they put us in a booth and the forgot about us. 45 min later we get bread then take our order and we ordered mushroom caps as an appetizer then 30 min later she tells us that someone else took them and we would have to wait. 20 min after that we get all our food at once and we asked for more drinks, we got none! My daughter didnt like the spaghetti and the waitress did not once come ask us how things were going! We shared our food with her and got up to leave! This was the absolute worst customer service... I have been in customer service for 20 years so I understand busy and I am very forgivable but 2.5 hours is unreal! Never again

I would give ZERO stars!! We waited over an hour for our appetizers the restaurant was literally empty and the waitress was very slow and didn’t check on us when we wanted refills on our drinks.. we had to call her over and when she finally came over but then started talking to the couple at the other table beside us!! After an hour of not getting our food we finally said forget it and asked them to pack it up our food to go... we paid a lot of money for cold food that looks and tastes gross.Save your money people not worth it!!!!

The spaghetti is nothing to write home about and all the food uses salt as the main spice for flavour. Food is typical generic North Americanized using frozen ingredients. Very popular with older clientele with busy time being between 4:30 and 6:30. I found the service slow every time I've been there. Dated decor but the restaurant itself is clean.

The food never tastes like it was warmed up and slopped on a plate. Always fresh greens in the salads and sides, everjuicy and tender cuts of meat. I reccomend the prime rib with mashed potatoes and the French onion soup!

Had a delicious meal with friends tonight. It was seamless to book a reservation, and their C-19 Protocols are well in place. Our service was absolutely perfect. Thank you, Donna. She was well-timed and so polite. We really enjoyed her. This place holds a lot of nostalgia for me, and it still holds up. My one suggestion, without taking away from their rating, is to spring for takeaway containers that are better for the planet. Styrofoam places a burden on your guests, whereas containers that are biodegradable/easily recyclabe, will make my return more likely and frequent. Overall, still a very enjoyable experience.Keep it up, but please change your containers ❤️

My liver and bacon was superb however Marilyn’s prime rib was questionable. Our recommendation would be to splurge another $5 and order prime rib on a la carte menu! The prime rib special was tough and over cooked. We will return and try fish and chips plus prime rib for $25

Was there for my birthday dinner. Ordered calamari and had to send it back as it was over cooked and tough. The calamari was over priced too. For $14.50 we received 13 or 14 small pieces. My prime rib was good but hubby ordered the liver at $25.00 and was disgusted in the small portion size! Any thinner and you would see through it! Portion size was definitely not worth the money. This was our second visit and it will be our last. Too bad we couldn't have tried it with the old owners!!

On the evening of Oct 11,2017 ...I went to celebrate a very happy occasion of my continued good health (as I had a scare that week of a potential problem.).. as a cancer survivor...but sadly my evening out with my husband was not the same...our service was very poor and we felt like we were an inconvenience to everyone in that restaurant ...we were seated by the head lady as we know who she is as we do bring our company here quite often(which we might rethink in the future) and forgotten about until a waitress going by said..”we weren’t in her section but she saw we weren’t waited on” ..Oh ,how nice of her! She brought us two waters...and we said we would have our coffees a little later,,,I ordered a wine . The rest of the evening went about the same..no refill of OUR water glasses,the liver I ordered could hardly be found under the mound of fried onions....no coffee offered until we were finished our whole meal...she offered coffee after we’d sat there with our empty dishes piled up on one another for a while...but she DID come back with the bill..We finally went to find somewhere to pay our bill ourselves,and then I told her that we felt the whole experience was like we were an inconvenience...so she admitted to me .. ,”really the girls were not sure who was supposed to wait on us ,so she did because we had no one else,so my feelings of being an inconvenience were confirmed....I wasn’t pleased at all with my quantity of liver, which was so tiny and shaved...or our after thought service..so I told her....but she said that’s too bad....( like who cares) I told her it wasn’t her fault but I wanted her to know ...BUT because I was in a happy mood that day no one in that restaurant was going to spoil my mood... but we surely were not made to feel welcomed yesterday in The Golden Valley....

Very disappointed with the food. Mediocre at best for an establishment in business 42 years. The French onion soup was lukewarm and the onions weren't caramelized. The cheese was barely broiled and the bread soggy. The Texas garlic toast was wet dough. The lettuce leaves on the Greek salad were brown and soggy. The batter on the fish and chips was soggy, as were the French fries. Won't be returning.

Great family restaurant! Had started with a French onion soup, then a prime rib dinner with the Neptune topping (asparagus and crab in hollandaise) and a ginger cake to finish. A warm and comforting place with very friendly and helpful staff. Definitely a place to eat in Trenton.

I wish I could upload pictures. Spent over $50 to get a pizza, bruschetta bread and Caesar salad. The pizza didn't really have a lot on it for a Cadillac Pizza. The bruschetta bread, I was lucky if I got any toppings on half of it amd 3 hot dog buns? Really? A large Caesar salad was more like half of a small. I was so disappointed. Felt like this was the new serving sizes for children

In the area for races that were cancelled, so stopped here by the reviews...well...my garlic toast was garlic dough, my greek salad had brown lettuce and 3 Kalamata olives soaked in I dont know what...AND in my entire life, I have never seen "white" French onion soup..It should be dark,have caramelized onions and and the cheese broiled to a crunchy crisp. BEST PART. Wont be coming back here.

Outstanding meal. We were at the Trenton Marina and the owner personally delivered to our boat. The chicken souvlaki was fabulous! Greek salad roasted potatoes and mushrooms out of this world. Wonderful ambiance, clean, exceptional service but the food was disappointing. 3 of us ordered prime rib. Medium. Medium rare and rare. Every piece of meat was the exact same. The au jus was actually a dark gravy. The meat was tender but pretty bland and dry. Homemade bread was the brown and serve rolls. And frozen vegetables. We won't be ordering that again. I can't speak to any other dishes.

One of the largest in Trenton. But I think the food quality is not up to the standards expected. French onion soap seems like a half hearted affair with the cheese just plunked on top like an afterthought. The beef patty in the burger is bland and tasteless. At least the service is good.

We had a group and had reservations here. About 20 people. I drank my water right away, and the next time the glass was filled was an hour later, no matter how many times she said she would bring some. She was quick with bringing alcohol because it's not free. But it's not very hard to have a water pitcher on the table. Food was very good, but for almost a 2 hour wait, I'll bring the group somewhere else. I've worked in restaurants for both as a cook and serving, but the ticket time was terrible tonight. If this wasn't a big party I was in, I would have walked right out.

When the wait staff ask you what salad you want, clarify if it's included or extra. We assumed it was because of how she asked the question. We assumed wrong. Charged $4 for each salad. Food was OK. Portions were small and over priced for the local market. Food was frozen last time, so at least that's improved.

I have never been so disappointed in a takeout meal. $12 potato skins with liquid cheese, garlic dip was liquidy ranch dressing. If you are looking for Costco Chicken fingers and fries at double the cost this is the place.

First time here this afternoon for lunch and the food portions were VERY small. I was still hungry after my fish and chips and when the young waitress asked us how it was I said I was still hungry and it was disappointing to say the least. I could have went to a Chinese buffet for cheaper and ate a lot more food that's for sure. Nice and clean but outdated restaurant...I won't be coming back that's for sure.

Its unfortunate my experience wasn't what the others say below. Google says they are open until 8pm. I called to ask to order for pickup and I can get past hours not being updated but the guy that answered not only didn't say hi, he just said "we are closed". So it was frustrating to be treated like that. Can't say anything about the food as we haven't ever had the chance to try it.

Now that I know the foods bomb Ill be grabbing work lunches here a LOT! However- 1 thing- the garlic in the caesar dressing is STRONG lol.

The waitress was very nice and quick. Unfortunately all their meals include lots and lots of flesh and other animal products. There was only one dish I could eat, and even that needed some adjustments. If it wouldn't have been for a company dinner I wouldn't have gone there. First time dining at this restaurant. Lived in the area 15 years! 18 people in our group. Peter was our waiter and he was fabulous! The food was amazing and we were really looked after. The Chef came out to meet us afterwards. The experience was wonderful! Their Prime Rib is to die for! I highly recommend this establishment

Me and girlfriend went on date night here.... Food was as expensive as it here in the falls. Which was sucky considering that the decor was out dated.... They had paper placemats... When ur paying 25 bucks for prime rib u don't want paper placemats. Menu items all of them where hugely over priced. When my food came it was way over cooked... Med rare some how is well done. And my girlfriend's food looked like chicken parmesan not chicken cordon blue. Would have had more than one drink but server didn't bother asking despite empty glass. Go to Chuck's at least you'll get better service cheaper food and kick ass prices

What a pleasant experience all to gether. A complete menu, delicious food, beautifull setting, friendly staff and cleanliness are the reasons I am taking my family to this establishment again. We were passing by this restaurant on our way to Kingstone city and were surprised and lucky with the quality of food and service. I give this place 2 thumps up.

We used to have Golden Valley takeout about once a week and we were always pleased with anything we ordered. When new owners took over we tried it and noticed a substantial difference in a bad way for the regular things we had always ordered. Everything tasted differently and the quality and sizes of the food took a big hit. We stopped ordering from there, thinking it was growing pains and things would likely improve over time once the new owners were firmly in place. Tonight we tried them yet again and spent a whopping 90.00 ( all prices have skyrocketed) for some fairly subpar food. Needless to say we won’t be ordering again from * The Valley *. We expect some changes when new owners take over but we also expect good food that goes along with the big prices they charge. So sad because it was definitely a go-to for a good meal for us.

We were there last weekend and had reservation for my parents special night 50th anniversary . There was 12 of us and my 102 year old grandmother. When we got there the table was not ready because the other people that booked the room at 4 was still in the room. So 6:45 rolls around and still not table to sit at. They really didn't try to hard to get another table ready for us. So finial around 7 they put together some tables for us. We got out drink orders and finial I had to go ask them when the people left the room I had to ask them to get the room at 7:20 ????ready that we reserved for 6:30. So we moved into the room finally . I know it's hard to know how long people stay and visit but maybe when u go to book people leave enough time . Over all I won't be back no thanks ????

The food and service was great. I had the veggie wrap.. It was delicious. My Son had the Caesar salad and the dressing was so garlicky and flavorful. My husband also liked the fish and chips. You can't really go wrong. Also had the baklava for dessert. It was the best ever!!

Their food is incredibly delicious. Now if they can get their take out organized they’d get more stars. Every place in Trenton has delivery. Golden Valley’s definition of delivery is to place your order with them and then they give you the number of the third party delivery to call. If I’m placing an order for $60 plus delivery, I think the least they can do is arrange for the delivery. If the takeout department is too busy, then hire another person. We called tonight and decided not to order our weekly takeout Wednesday there and called Tiger Chicken.

Appetizers were good, mains were rather meh. Quite pricey and took a very long time for the food to show. Almost an hour actually. This was second visit there and was similar to the first. Will not likely go back.

What a great place..myself and my now husband (married March 13, 2020) received a gift card for dinner and we finally got to use it Aug 1 with my brother and sister inlaw and we had a great time..Waitress was excellent food delisious and overall 5 star..thank you so much.

First time visiting for a birthday lunch. The place is a bit outdated but has a nice family feel. The food is reasonably priced. Got the Swiss Burger and Ceasar salad and enjoyed it! They have a good variety of food to choose from.

Fairly pricey for what you get. Strip loin steak had very little flavor, not bad enough to complain about but,could have been a lot better. We both left feeling hungry.
