The food here is phenomenal! The 5 star rating is not because it is some fine dining experience. If your looking for that go to Yorkville. My wife is a vegetarian and so we came here because Indian food has a lot of vegetarian options. When …

Chef salute to you! Best Indian food I ever ate in Toronto. The Biryani is the best out standing dish among all! Biryani was so so so good! I had it like 2 years before and its the same taste aroma and quality! Last time I remember had tasted few of his curries and he had mentioned to use dates in his curry which made his curry different than all the curries I had in Toronto. I being in this industry working at Indian Restaurants can say this.. than you can guess it people! Would definitely recommend this place to everyone!

I found this restaurant quite by accident after an exhausting 16 hour day at work. I had absolutely no energy left and I just wanted somewhere that was not noisy and had great food. This restaurant was absolutely delightful. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. The spices were splendid and you could taste the fresh vegetables in the sauce. The prices were modest especially for Toronto!

I just picked lamb biryani and salty lassi. Its so bad..potatoes not cooked, the frozen vegetables still frozen and the lassi not salty just so bitter. Golab jamuns were good. Sorry ladies.

Carol Tian

Awesome food and very nice people. The portion is very generous. Great experience!

Good ambience, friendly staff, they customize the spice levels to suit everybody's taste buds. They have an Indian and Thai spread in their menu and can provide south indian food if you are craving for it.

Food was great and very reasonably priced. The lamb vindaloo was tender and spicy but the heat did not overpower the flavors. The naan was lovely, thin and crisp, not rubbery like a lot of places. It is a little hole in the wall, clean plain decor, only about 30 or so tables. f you are about good Indian food, this is for you.

I’ve been here a number of times and every thing I’ve tried has been delicious. Their food has always been fresh and good portions. Some items on their menu takes a long time to prepare so if you’re in a rush, ask them to make sure what …

My hubby and I always pass by this little restaurant and curious what type of food and how it would taste. Even though it said Indian/Tai cuisine..we ordered take out the masala fish and masala prawns. We have to say it's was very delicious and fresh..it's not full out Indian or Tai, but the combination was delicious..we would definitely order food there again.. thanks to the chef!

Friday afternoon 6pm came here with two friends. We were the only customers. Ordered one veg dish + one chicken dish + three pieces of naan. Price is around $10-15 for each dish and $3 for naan. They serve wine and beer. Taste is good, not too oily. Naan was served in slices. Portions could’ve been a little bigger for the price we paid. Service was great (it helps we were the only dine in customers). There were a few walk-ins; another table arrived later on. It seems to be a family restaurant, or at least it has that vibe. The facilities were clean; paper towels are provided in the WC. Great place for casual evening gatherings with friends.

Great reliable little place that deserves more attention than it seems to get. I have been here several times a year for the past 4 or 5 years, for everything from lunch to dinner to a stack of Naan to take home, and it has never disappointed. Everything is cooked fresh and it shows. The unique mix of indian and thai options has something for everyone, and the chef imparts all the dishes with a bit of personality, it's not the "paint by numbers" indian or thai flavors you might find at some of the places in Toronto. Try Matagali, then tell your friends, this place is great.

We had the chicken masala and the lamb rogan and it was really really good! Coming back to try the palak paneer next time.

Wow, what a nice family run restaurant. The staff was really friendly and pleasant. It was my first time here and I asked what they would recommend. I had the shrimp Pakota as my appetizer, it was amazing that I ordered another one it was so good. I then had the nan with tandoori chicken with salad house dressing and a white wine. I was extremely satisfied and the prices were reasonable reasonable.. I would recomend this little hideaway on Elm St off Bay St.

Guys come on !!! I ordered 4 items of which 3 of them where untouchable. Seriously ?!? U guys even messed up the soup. It felt like water mixed with turmeric and all the masalas in the world. Only reason for one star waiter was polite and …

Happened to visit this place during lunch hour and tried veg biriyani, for our surprise it had Thai flavor to it, probably it needs be renamed as indothai biryani. However, the qty and service was good.

Great staff, good portion sizes, and yummy food! Would come again to try out other food. The order takes a while, but that's because everything is freshly made.

A place you must try! The patio is wonderful. Me and my friend shared Butter chicken and Palak paneer with naan. Great flavour and service! I had mild spice. If you like spice, they can make it nice and spicy!

The menu selection is good. The samosas are good, thin dough which is crispy. The main courses are ok. Some are really good others don't taste anything like what they say they are. The Garlic Naan is good. 3 stars because it's over priced for what it is and the service is slow and errors are made constantly. It's was messed up, two other tables had problems as well. Maybe we got them on a bad night, but I probably wouldn't go back of I wanted a quick meal.

Decided to stop by this place after looking for my Thai fix. I was very happy with the massaman kai and my boyfriend was equally happy with his pad thai - we both tried a bit of each other's dishes and shared the same sentiments. We were …

The food here is delicious and the atmosphere is cozy. It is the perfect spot for date night or to catch up with good friends. We have our favourite dishes, however when we branch out & try something new, we've never been disappointed. Also the friendly folks who work here, in the kitchen and wait staff, remember us and make each visit special. We don't hesitate to bring colleagues because we know they will also be welcomed! The restaurant is also very clean, the washrooms are consistently well kept. The location is convenient. If you are new to trying Indian or Thai food they will accommodate milder spice. And if you enjoy your food spicy they will ensure it's bursting with flavour! Everything is prepared to order. I honestly can't say enough good things! Check it out!

With the recommendation of my friends, I tried this restaurant and ordered Butter chicken and Lamb Rogan Josh with rice, naan and salad. Great choice! My roommate and I enjoyed very much. The salad was superb with the dressing while the naan was so perfect to scope the sauce. Can't wait to try other dishes from their menu. Thank you!

I have not done too many food take out in the past nor many reviews but since the way things are right now I have decided to start. My reviews are based on my own experiences only. I Found this quaint little place in down town Toronto near Bay on Elm St named MATAGALI, I have browsed there menu and seems there are plenty of options to choose from, having said that I ordered the Vegetable spring rolls and the Chicken Vindaloo. The service for take out was warm and friendly. the cooking time was about 12 minutes which was excellent in my opinion. When I got home I opened the bag to plate my order and was surprised as they have added Naan bread which is a plus for me. As I was about a quarter into my meal I asked myself why did I not know about this place sooner. The spring rolls was nice and crunchy on the outside and very flavorful on the inside. The chicken vindaloo was absolutely great with just the right amount of heat. It's just a shame that it's closed for inside seating as I would definitely love to have a sit down meal here. I can honestly say that I will go back to MATAGALI and will also recommend this place to my friends and family. I will most definitely post another take out from this place as there are plenty to choose from. Bon appetit!

Wifi network is Rogers1234 password is CC9FBRogers. Amazing butter chicken, very creamy and smooth. Also get the garlic na'an. The portion sizes on the rice are huge so maybe consider a half order or share with someone!

Food that tastes like a wholesome home cooked meal but with a touch of luxe. The flavours are perfect and thoughts of the food always make me go back for more. Not to mention the team is super! Always inviting and friendly!

Since I have started to order more and more take out lately a friend of mine recommended Matagali here in Toronto. As it turns out I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. I had ordered the butter chicken and can tell you it was one of the best one I ever had. The chicken was simply tender with full flavors without overpowering my palette, the naan bread seems to be home made and was really soft and well made. Next time I will try another dish and definitely order here again!

My wife and I just caught Matagali before they closed on a Tuesday night after a long day of being tourists at Niagara Falls. The meals we ordered were superb and cooked fresh whilst we enjoyed the …

This restaurant is a true hidden gem. During this hard time, this restaurant was a shining light in terms of their food. The chicken biriyani had so much flavour and had the right amount of heat that I liked. The butter chicken and green curry chicken are both creamy and delicate. They were also so filling and heart warming during this time of the year were it is cold. This is definitely a restaurant that I will be taking my friends and family.

Checked out Matagali after the good Google reviews. We had a really nice meal, great flavors and very nice waitress. Glad we trusted the good reviews, if you're thinking about this place then definitely give it a try.

Oh my goodness yes go for it! Nothing fancy but yummy. I loved my meal and it gave me a real boost after a very hard day. For $20 I received more food than I should have ate but I did anyway because it was too good to stop. I was unsure …

Came to Toronto for a brief stay from our home in France. Fancied an authentic curry and the Matagali had decent reviews. What can I say apart from FANTASTIC!! We ordered the lamb tikka masala and the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan breads ( to take out ) The food was plentiful and extremely tasty. The staff were very friendly and gave us a poppadom and glass of iced water to drink while we waited. Will be going back to Toronto next year and will definitely visit this restaurant again.
