My wife and I have dined at many Italian restaurants over the years. We recently visited Donatello Restaurant on Elm Street in Toronto and I must say in my humble opinion that it is one of the best. The dining room where we were seated has a very relaxing decor. My wife ordered the Salmon Piccata with vegetables and potatoes which she absolutely loved, while I chose the Petto Di Pollo Valdostana which is a chicken breast in a heavenly rose sauce with vegetables and potatoes, a truly delicious dish. The service was excellent throughout our meal and the prices were fairly reasonable. For an amazing Italian experience without ever having to travel to Italy, you should try Donatello Restaurant.

Authentic fresh homemade Italian dishes, make a reservation ( ask to sit in Williams section), you won't be disappointed. Makes for an incredible date night experience. Order the veal and mushroom pasta.Vitello Marsala, you won't be disappointed.

Food is okay. But it really doesn't matter anymore when the service attitude is bad. Servants are not well trained. The manager has a poker face to start with. Sorry, smiles and kind words are not available here! So decide for yourself!

We went to Donatello's with another couple earlier this evening for the first time. It won't be the last, and it's our new favorite restaurant. The food was fantastic, the service, the same. It's a family run place, and the owner spent time saying hello to patrons which is a lovely touch. Warn, friendly, with lovely room (also a nice patio), it was perfect. We will be back again very soon. I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

The food here is incredible! Our server was the kindest man ever, and the food was real authentic Italian cooking. Pictured here is the fettuccine, we also tried the gnocchi which was soft and buttery, the best we’ve ever had! I cannot recommend this place enough.

We reserved for a table and was immediately seated upon showing our booking. There was a line up on a saturday night that we went so reserve online if possible. Food wise the pasta was amazing, the shrimp and scallop was my favorite, better than the seafood wine garlic. As an appetizer we got the calamari, I personally prefer a more grilled texture of it, it tasted a little too soft for me and the portion was quite small considering the price as an app and my main dish pasta had around the same amount of calamari in it. Overall it was an excellent meal, we paired it with their house white wine and my girl friend enjoyed the whole experience.

Celebrating two birthdays in one of their private rooms. Excellent food, atmosphere, with very accommodating and attentive wait staff. Thank you Giacomo and crew for making this special occasion a night to remember. Highly recommend!

Great experience. Italian food at its best, reminded me of the pasta I had in Rome. Ordered the pasta with lobster but meat quantity was very less but the taste of the pasta made up for it. It’s a large a plate and can easily be shared between 2. The shrimps appetizer and chocolate cheese brown cake are must haves.

A quaint Italian restaurant in downtown. Love the vibe. Very tiny place but you are well taken care of. The waiter suggested a lot of dishes and we went for the prawns pasta. (photo attached). I loved it! Also don't miss the crème brûlée. We had a wonderful anniversary experience.

Food was delicious and the service was very good. They have a street patio as well as a rooftop patio. The servers were so kind and genuine the tiramisu and the chocolate cake was amazing super delicious, they had authentic coffee also. The vibes were very lovely!

Frequent traveler - This is a cozy cafe reminding me of San Francisco with the layout. They are conveniently located in Downtown next to an English pub. The service was amazing. We came on a Wednesday without reservations and were seated immediately. We had a variety of dishes plus desert. Our waiter, William, told us about the specials they made our night. My son had a New York steak with roasted potatoes and vegetables. I had eggplant rolls which was an appetizer but I ate as a meal. They made special tea for my Aunt and plain spaghetti for my daughter. They were incredibly accommodating plus gave us tourist ideas. They have an extensive drinks menu. We had the Royal Chocolate Truffle cake for desert which was just one of several choices.

The food and service here is amazing! The branzino fished was cooked perfectly and the pastas were also delicious! Portions were great! Service was fantastic! Will be back for sure!

Went for a group dinner and although I didn’t expect much, it was probably one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever eaten. Food tasted really bad, so salty, no flavour — it literally tasted like they were frozen food that was heated up in the microwave. The atmosphere reminds you of a restaurant that would be in Kitchen Nightmare. I don’t know why this place has 4.3 stars because it definitely is not even a 3 star restaurant.

Today was my first time at this restaurant and I will definitely come back. It was the best Italian restaurant I've been to in Toronto. The waiter who served us was super attentive and very kind. The food has nothing to say it was wonderful! Super affordable prices too. And the best thing is that no one kept kicking us out of the restaurant after dinner like most restaurants here in toronto do.

Had my birthday celebrations over the weekend in the city. Beautiful ambiance, service was amazing, and the food was just impeccable! I had the penne pasta sautéed in a creamy sauce with grilled chicken, my husband had the pepper steak with veggies (just what he ordered; well done). Definitely will be returning here.

If you’re looking enjoy some fine Italian cuisine on rooftop, this would be the place. You almost forget that you are in the heart of Toronto while sitting among the trees and bustling street below. The food is good and the portions decent. The cuisine is comparable to other Italian restaurants in the city, but not many others can boast the charm of this little stretch of Elm St.

Went out to donatellos with my friend and we had an amazing experience. The food was 10/10 and the service was 10/10! I ordered the gnocchi the sauce was so good and the cream brûlée is a must try for desert.

What a great find for a nice Friday date! The place was lovely great little setting for a couple to just go and enjoy themselves! The menu was not overwhelming as many Italian restaurants can often be and the ambiance was perfect. Our server was helpfully and attentive! Could not recommend this place any further! The food was incredible, make sure to ask about the specials. The table bread is unbeliveable!

If you did a Google search for "romantic restaurant Toronto" and this showed up, as it did for me, you might want to go back to the results, because this ain't what you're looking for. At these prices you would expect an experience and food to be at least as good as what you get in a corporate chain such as the Olive Garden or Red Lobster. Unfortunately, they aren't. The service is perfunctory and the food is uninspired.

Sometimes you need a perfect pasta - linguini alle vongole slicked with peppery olive oil and a whisper of white wine. Plump juicy clams - a nice house white, great bread, a perfect espresso after dinner. This is old school Italian at its best. It never fails to amaze me that you can be downtown on Elm Street and feel like you're at a local trattoria. If you're looking for classic dishes done reliably well in an elegant, cozy interior, this is it.

I’ve been here more than 5 times over the last 5 years. Consistent, attentive and personal service. Never decide on what you’ll have before hearing the specials. Their specials are always amazing, fresh and creative. I have nothing bad to say about this place. I hate calamari, but I’ll eat calamari at Donatello. I do love the carpaccio, caprese salad, spaghetti 2000 and if I’m not up for the special I’ll have the Tortellini Alla Borina (to die). Lovely wine selection, we had a Chianti (Ruffino) delicious! They’ve got the Masi wines you love from the LCBO too, including an Amarone

Found this place a few weeks ago, and have been coming once a week! The restaurant is small and cozy, it's like those family kitchen restaurant but this is a fancier one. The food is always fresh, at least for the time I visited. I found the tiramisu was a bit sweet...

The salmon was not on their menu but i decided to order it anyway. The quality of food was phenomenal in comparison to the atmosphere. In spite of the ambience, the servers were very polite and attentive. Also let me tell you..the drinks were definitely not diluted????

Although the ambiance was enjoyable, the service and food were incredibly subpar. Not only did we have to ask multiple times for simple things like cutlery and water, but after having a quality control issue with a main course, the chef refused to acknowledge their error and proceeded to charge full price for a dish that was sent back to the kitchen. Left hungry. Truly a let down. Would not recommend.

Went here on Thursday Oct 21…Found this place on google and went based on reviews. Both myself and my guest had specials of the day ( $35 branzino with vegetables and $55 rack of lamb with pasta). I was told my fish was fully filet but I think I found bone in almost every bite. The pasta side my guest had was very pedestrian for the prices they were charging. I commented on both to the waiter but nothing as offered as a fix. I don’t look for free meals but at $55 I expect a quality side pasta if u r going to offer it as a side. In toronto where I have eaten at close to a hundred Mediterranean restaurants I expected more.. unfortunately I will not go back to this restaurant again, even if they adjusted the bill.. they get a 2* for the appetizer which was the assorted meat n cheese with fruti de mare.
