I first decided to come to Chotto Matte because of the great ambiance and the unique interior and entertainment. I heard mixed reviews for food, however decided to give this a place a try. The violinist and music were amazing. The food and service were terrible. Portions are tiny and when you are paying $90.00 per person you would expect to receive your own plate for each dish, the food was either bland, way too salty over seasoned or under seasoned. The dishes came out incredibly inconsistently and were not timed right. For a premium price you would expect more – the servers were inexperienced and couldn’t even place the plates of food INFRONT OF YOU! The service did not match the price point. The portions were small, and we didn’t even eat ½ of them because of the salty flavour. This restaurant has officially scared me from fusion restaurants, the food was just not right and felt like cheap ayce sushi or a cheap bbq grill. I will definitely not return again. There are plenty of other restaurants in Toronto with way better service & food.

It was my husband's and I first time here and we both loved it! The quality of the food was out of this world! The service was very friendly and welcoming. We will be back for more! If I could give this more than 5 stars I would: 10/10

Everything was great except for one of the drinks were too strong and the BBQ chicken dish was just mediocre along with the sauce. We also had to reorder two items because they did not arrive. Waitress blamed it on the printer. Otherwise, it was a good night. Ordered 10 "shared" a la carte dishes + 3 drinks and tab came to $300 after taxes and gratuities. Try the yellowtail sashimi, the calamari and the dragon roll as they were excellent. Cheers!

This place was from A to Z perfect. Great sharing food and very flavorful, great service and excellent waiters and waitresses as they were very attentive and fast and very pleasant. We got sushi, the beef and sea bass Saviche (amazing), and more. The ice cream was ????. The only plate I wouldn’t recommend is adamame. Will go back for sure soon

Good for dating however Very pricy for this quality of food. Portion is extremely small

P.S. gadgets.

Called to reserve and ensure we could get outdoor patio seating and were assured we would. When we show up the patio isn't even set up and we can't be seated. Edit: Wrote to their email as requested. No reply in roughly two weeks.

Came here for the jungle brunch. Nice patio, vibe and entertainment. Had to wait awhile for each course. All the dishes were plated beautifully. Enjoyed the small plates to start. Got the asado for my main and it was good but a bit salty. It got pretty hot sitting on the patio without much shade if you're on the outer side. It was an interesting brunch experience.

This is a great place for a special night. Way over priced but all the food was delicious and the service was awesome. Food portions are small but they tell you that beforehand. The ambiance is nice and they have different themes for every night of the week. In the colder times, end of fall and winter, be sure to reserve a table inside as they still use their patio and just give you a small propane tank to keep warm. It's ridiculous and very unpleasant. But in the summer it's the place you want to be at. Would definitely go again to spoil myself and my wallet. Also she's smoking and he's smoking drinks are amazing. Everything is good????

Went my friend on his birthday, very elegant and fun setting Friendly staff Delicious food Must try

Virinda Dembla Malik

The outdoor patio was an excellent addition to Chotto Matte. The energy and vibe on a summer night was perfect. Food and drink were also excellent and we had extremely courteous service as well.

Danielle

Nice patio, nice service, unfortunately food and drinks are not worth the price. Cocktails price are higher than most same class restaurants. Food’s price is fair, but doesn’t taste impressive. The cauliflower wings is very very salted, basically you can’t taste what you are eating. King oyster Tostadas: the mushroom is not so fresh and juicy, tastes bitter and salted instead.

Lysa M

Beautiful atmosphere and people! They made everything so personal for us and the staff was incredibly kind. They even made a beautiful desert for my friends birthday which we really appreciated. The food was absolutely on point while staying authentic to Peruvian food which made the experience all the more better. Overall 10/10 would recommend my girls and i had the best time! We will definitely be back :)

Absolutely delicious. Their London location is my fav restaurant in London so I just had to try the Toronto one. It did not disappoint. We got the tasting menu I, II, and III. Food was def enough to be full. Favorites were the ceviche and cod. Get the dragon fruit cocktail. You can get it without chili too. It’s unreal. Staff super friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to go back.

Incredible food, spot on service Attended The Day of the Dead dinner on Oct 30th. There were performers, dancers, and live DJ. Let me add that a lot of the guests were very unpatient with the staff due to some typical covid waiting. Staff were professional and did their best.

Leeran Markizano

Went on a Saturday for lunch and it was all you can eat brunch. Food are amazing, we really love the beef tartare, ceviche and the dessert plate. Hot dishes came with a very generous portion. They also offered a beautiful dancing interactive performance in the end! Had a really good time there. One star lost because we weren't informed that the brunch was only served until 2:30 pm so I didn't get a chance to try everything (to be fair we were kind of late to start too). Overall it was a very nice experience!

Claire Lam

Definitely worth the trip down. The overall experience was wonderful. Very different dining experience for sure. Staff were helpful and attentive, which showed throughout the dining service. Food was unique and carefully curated with thought. Desserts were alright and does fall flat compared to the main courses; that said, I would definitely come back again

Ross Grant

Gorgeous patio and creative, delicious menu. The yellowtail Nikkei sashimi was incredibly fresh. Portions and prices are quite prohibitive so keep this place on your 'special occasion' list.

Fatima Silveira

The atmosphere is amazing! So lively, fun, and the service is very friendly. I like the interior design of the place overall. The food is a fushion of Brazilian and Asian and I like the tapas style where you try a bit of this and that.

Bilge Mimi

We had a wonderful dining experience here! Perfect spot for a great view of the CN Tower with a super cool patio. The food was cooked perfectly and very delicious! Can't wait to be back!

This place was such a disappointment. My family and I went out to have a nice drink and some food after a nice day spent in Toronto, but the whole experience was just terrible. Some of the food was okay but some were just not good at all. I could have ignored the bad food, but the service is something I just could not. The server seemed as if she/they were drugged. They brought our dish 1 hour after we had asked for it several times and kept giggling or staring at us blankly as we were talking. This place is just an Instagram hype restaurant, don't go if you are hungry.

Great location, beautiful atmosphere, good food and service, but based on group feedback my rating for lunch time was 3.5. I believe they need further improvements in same areas to meet the 5 star ⭐️ rating for they price you pay ????

Overly priced for the quality and quantity of food that you get. The ambience however was beautiful and the vibes were immaculate! The drinks were also really nice. Overall it was an okay experience, good to try once

The Yuzu Martini was really refreshing! Among food we had the "Black Cod Ahi Miso", Ceviche, Aburi Sushi and "Magical Chocolate Ball". Each of them are quite the experience ????✨. Highly recommend.

Amazing food, beautiful ambiance, great service. We were very well taken care of by our kind server and staff. The food was super delicious and of high quality. I definitely would recommend getting sushi, but beware, you will be disappointed when you get it elsewhere after trying it from here. It’s that good! A great experience overall!

I really enjoyed my time at this restaurant and sat in the patio. I went during the weekend and they had a DJ playing for the night. The music was great and loud and the vibe, atmosphere and decorations were awesome. The food and drink was good. My favorite was chicken karaage and steak. I don’t recommend the sushi there.

Rom Nik

The restaurant is wonderful. Great ambiance and creative. The seating can be improved. Low seating, packed and uncomfortable. The food however makes up for that. I love their piscu cocktails. The washroom is interestingly cool.

Ali Chaudhry

Our experience was fine, but nothing more. We came for my sister in laws birthday and I appreciated that they were attentive to her allergies, however I can’t say too much more. The drinks were wildly inconsistent - one would be easy to drink and the next overwhelmingly strong. The food was also okay. Our entrees all came out sporadically so some peoples food was stone cold before others got theirs. We were also seated in the back so it was hard to see/enjoy the entertainment. Overall, our experience was OK, but I wouldn’t go back.

Abducci K

This has quickly become my favourite restaurant in all of Toronto. I am vegetarian and they have the most vegetarian items on their menu compared to any other $$$$ upscale fine dining restaurant in the GTA. The service was impeccable and I always look forward to returning both for business dinners and personal socials. I do think they can improve on their desserts but everything else is top notch.

Aaliyah Corbin

The food and drinks were great. Our server Kristian was amazing. My only critiques are about the menu(how it reads) and the washroom(accessibility and lighting). Menu= It took a few read-throughs to understand and figure out what I wanted to eat. Set menu= i got Nikkei set menu 3 (tasted amazing). But the food didn't come out in the order specified. Had to keep the menu open to figure out which dish i was eating. Seems silly to note this, but in terms of a dining experience, it felt a bit more like i was "doing a bit of last minute research, before the library closes" Washroom= The signage upstairs is really unclear. The limited lighting in all-black stalls doesn't help. The stark contrast between very dark spaces and very bright mirror lights - it didnt make sense to me, especially as its a cluster of small ring lights... you don't know where to look.

Great date spot! When Toronto opened dining (oh how sweet and glorious those two weeks were) we booked a patio reso. Being from Vancouver my expectation for raw seafood at value cost may be a bit unreasonably high but the food here was great. Have to point out that the sashimi was disappointing and not incredibly fresh but the other dishes including the fried rice, sushi and miso eggplant was excellent. They have an incredible grilled octopus dish which really blew me away and was perhaps the best octopus I've ever had. The presentation of everything was an art and experience in itself. The food vs price consideration would have landed them a 4 star but we received just the most wonderful service from Kaylan our server that really made our experience here the most perfect evening. The interior is also to die for and thus highly recommend for those not just looking for a meal but an incredible experience!

Joe C

Food was great! Tried the tasting menu and thought I might leave hungry, not the case!

Gayan Pathirana

We were really looking forward to enjoying a birthday lunch at this venue.... Interior is decorated very well... The jungle theme with the decor, music and performers created a lovely atmosphere... unfortunately our server was the reason we had to cut short our visit and leave.... After going through this pandemic for more than a year you would think someone in his role would know how to wear a face mask.... We felt VERY uncomfortable that someone like this would be managing the food that we would be eating... disappointing exit.... To be clear the other staff in the venue were following the proper protocols but this person clearly felt he was above these guidelines. When people take the time to choose a restaurant then it's only fair that we should expect the people at the restaurant to treat us with respect and follow the rules that will keep everyone safe...

Angelica M

Decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary here. From start to finish the meal was amazing! The manager greeted us with champagne to celebrate our anniversary and really kicked off the night to a great start. We did the nikkei II and III tasting menu. My favourite of the meal was probably the cod and the pork belly. I would definitely come here again! The vibe was great, our server was super helpful, and the food was delicious. Totally worth it!

Ashwal Swarup

Food is absolutely delicious, but portions for the Nikkei Menu I were a bit small for some of our bigger stomachs. Their vegetarian/vegan tasting menu was also good, according to the few people at our table who had them. Cocktails were a bit hit with our table - He’s/She’s So Smoking especially. The servers were very attentive and friendly - there are lots of people around to help clear the table and refill your water. The ambience and lighting were absolutely gorgeous. There were always people taking pictures near the washroom because of how beautiful they made that area. Definitely on the pricier side, but worth the splurge every now and then.

Melissa Sepideh Ziaei

Went for the NYE dinner special. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff are very professional. It was a set dinner menu that night so did not get to pick what we can order. The food quality is not bad. The miso soup is abit salty but other than that it was pretty good.

Shirin Montebare

One of the best experiences we have had at a restaurant in Toronto for brunch. The food was fantastic - really flavorful and colorful. The drinks were well made and I can’t say enough about the service. The whole experience was definitely worth it. It is pricey no doubt but these guys really go out of their way to make it worth your while. We look forward to going back maybe this time we ll go for dinner.

Sarah Yahya

We had a wonderful dinner and evening. The food was outstanding. We had the Nikkei sharing menu II. Everything was delicious from the Canchas through to the dessert of matcha and ice cream. We especially loved the pork belly and nashi pears, this was spectacular. Also particularly good was the warm beef fillet Tataki. The service was excellent - helpful, friendly and sincere. The ambience was terrific and so much natural light. Overall highly recommend this. We’ll be back for sure.

Absolutely loved my meal here. Have to say Chotto Matte took all measures possible to make our experience during Covid really enjoyable. Connie was our server for the day and she really served us well. I really loved the food. Highly recommend the BBQ Salmon with Purple Potato Purée. Their 5 piece veg sushi was phenomenal and the Jasmine Fantasy (cocktail) was brilliant. Combine great service, delicious food & stunning views of the CN Tower, and you’ll happily enjoy your meal here! Would love to be back.

Really great experience, my water was never empty and that’s always a key factor for me. Food was delicious and nice presentation. Drinks were fun and yummy.

The date night bar has been set pretty high after enjoying an amazing evening at Chotto Matte. From the moment we arrived to our server being extremely helpful and recommending a bunch of great options, to ambiance, the food and drinks, we could not have asked for a better experience. We will definitely be coming back!

Christos C

The ceviche and crispy yellowfin tuna sushi are excellent. You have to get the Pisco Sour.

jean Yeung

We waited a very long time for service. Ordered drinks and they took forever to arrive at the table, only for them to be wrong and then wait extremely long for the new drinks to arrive. Also we ordered 4 of the same drinks and they were all different looking with the toppings and the amounts in the glass, we also had a long hair in one drink, which was replaced but took 20min for it to arrive.

Mark Tang

I was so excited to dine at Chotto Matte but it's too overhyped. I had high expectations for the food. I've seen this place all over Instagram, so I thought it would be cool. The small food portion wasn't shocking, that was to be expected, but there was no flavor. This restaurant is too overpriced, I don't recommend coming here.

GRACE KARUNANITHY

Loved it and will go back. Had a great experience and a good server, Steve! The dip for the shrimp rolls is amazing. We had sharing menu Nikei1. Absolutely worth it.

Beautiful restaurant, love the plants on the patio. It gives such tropical vibe. We didn’t really see the menu before we book so we didnt know what to expect haha. I dont like sushi really but the menu has everything for everyone with any taste. Ordered chicken and beef and gyoza and it tasted amazing. We ordered their $29 dessert and all I can say is that I cant wait to go back

The food is really delicious, cocktails on the expensive side but strong and very unique. Our server Luliana was very good with recommendations and super nice. Perfect for a special occasion, highly recommend the cod and bbq beef!

I went to Chotto Matte on Sunday November 14th after being invited out for dinner with a group of close friends one of them being Michael, who works at the restaurant. My first impression of the place was great as the decor, ambience and staff were very warm and inviting. We were seated between the robata grill and the service bar which was great because we got to see our drinks and some food being made which was a cool experience. Our server Iuliana, from we got sat at the table and greeted us came with great energy and took care of our every needs throughout the whole night. The overall experience was great, food and drinks. I will definitely be coming again with more friends in the future! The dragon roll was fire !!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Made reservations for 8:30pm but haven't been seated until 9:55pm. We booked in advance one month ago for my friend's birthday yet we had to wait 2hrs to be seated. After the long wait, the host brought us to the worst seating possible, right in front of the patio where there was cold air blowing to us. After complaining to her about the seating, she decided to move us to another table... mind you, we waited another 20 mins for the table standing in the middle of the restaurant. By the time we got to our table, we were just exhausted and soo fed up with the kind of service we received. I still do not understand why they take "reservations along with your credit card details" when there was a packed entry with a long line up full of people who all made reservations. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.. there are much nice high end restaurants in downtown Toronto that will treat you well for the price being paid.

Roger Aguinka

Amazing atmosphere celebrating my birthday. Right in the heart of downtown near union station so it’s super convenient to grab an Uber, taxi, subway. Food was fresh and amazing with such fast service. Jennifer was amazing and ensured that my table had an amazing time. The front staff was so organized! Thank you for the lovely Mochi dessert!

5 stars... and I would have given it 4 because of the price point to quantity.. but the quality shut me up. This is a $$$ restaurant. But it'll show you a sushi experience you didn't know you needed. Make your AYCE look like a joke. A legit sushi bar .. a GORGEOUS sushi bar with great vibes.I hate that I loved it so much. Even the smell of the flower garish in my drink complimented my drink...Good stuff...

I feel like I’ve become a regular here for jungle brunch haha. I absolutely love this gem in the city. It doesn’t even feel like you’re in Toronto - the parrots, fire, dancers … such a cool vibe! Great place to bring guests that are visiting/celebrations or just wanting to have a fun experience with friends. Food is delicious- love the yucca fries and asado. Drinks - cheeta rita and mimosas for the win (bottomless drinks during brunch is the way to go)! Overall, it’s a really fun time!

Nikesha Patten

The service was great and the ambiance is very nice, thus giving it more than one star. Unfortunately, the Yuzu Chicken was undercooked. Emailed the general manager, Daniel right away but still have not heard back. Disappointed by the lack of response from the restaurant in addressing the food quality issue.

Francis Pelland

While the staff was very attentive and friendly, none of the food was particularly amazing. Perhaps it might have been the particular dishes we ordered but it felt like a large portion of the menu is drenched in acidity. Looking past that, most of the dishes that we tried were not offensive to the tongue. The only dish that was a huge disappointment was the grilled shrimp. It had an overwhelming fishy taste that invoked my gag reflex as soon as I put it in my mouth. I don't think I can recommend this place as the price tag did not seem proportionate to the quality of food. They have a large cocktail menu and the atmosphere is fairly nice so I'd imagine it'd be a good place to drink.

Casey Caster

My experience here was amazing as the staff, food, drinks, and ambiance were top tier. I went here on a date during the evening on the weekend. The staff were super welcoming to my boyfriend and I. The food tasted delicious and paired very well with their drinks. It's the perfect place to go to if you just want to snack, drink, and socialize with your friends or partner on a weekend night. I would definitely recommend going here, I may come back myself...

Maeve Arnold

This place is good, the service was amazing. But the receptionist were not the greatest to work with they made us wait for 30 minutes after our reservation. The food is good so definitely try it out and the ambiance is amazing

Love the Japanese and Peruvian fusion. Very interesting interior decor as well. It’s a place you are excited to return to so highly recommend checking it out. It gets quite busy so be sure to book a table in advance.

If you haven’t visited this restaurant, you’re doing yourself a disfavour! My boyfriend and I loved this place so much we ended up coming three times in two weeks. I travel frequently and dine at some amazing places around the world, and I’d have to say this place is in my top recommended list. I was initially intrigued by the interesting combination of Peruvian Japanese. Being in a Japanese food fiend I had to try (also I did hear of this place in London before). SPACE: The interior design, ambiance and atmosphere is lovely, perfect spot for anything between friends gathering to business lunch/dinners to the perfect date spot. FOOD: The most stand out dishes that left us literally speechless were the cod (hands down the best cod I’ve ever had in my life), pork belly, and beef tataki. The miso chicken, octopus, sashimi and duck were also simply amazing. One small suggestion is to try all the Peruvian dishes and leave the sushi (don’t get me wrong their sushi were all quite good but it’s something you can also find else where). Dessert definitely go for the almond creme brûlée. SERVICE: Our lovely server each time never failed to please us. They were attentive, caring and took the time and patience to explain each item on the menu. They also let us know a little background story of the restaurant and we ended up having a chat for 20mins after our dinner service.

Lisa Lisa

This place was absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in. They seated us at the high tops at the kitchen bar at first but moved us right away as soon as we asked. And seemed happy to do it. We ordered many different items off of the menu and we left it up to our server to lay out the courses. Now this is where I have to talk about our server Diana. She was beyond. I loved her, and she definitely made our experience go from great to excellent. She was so attentive, knew exactly when to come around, we never had to look for her. She presented every dish like she made it herself. You can tell that she is proud to work there. She was so kind and just had the best personality I’ve ever seen in Toronto 100%, even when I told her to bring me any drink she recommended, she was exactly on point. Please promote this woman she is definitely management material for sure! I will definitely be back whenever I can.

The ambiance and atmosphere was amazing. I loved the service so so much that I will definitely be back. The cocktails were great. The sushi was so fresh and it just melts in your mouth. I enjoyed the yucca fries. My girls and I went for a birthday celebration. We felt so welcomed. Our server gave us great recommendations. A 5 star ???? well deserved. Thank you for an amazing time Chotto Matte. Shout-out to Yoshi and Justin for being the best ????????

We had great time here, super attentive staff and delicious food! However, the price range is $$$$ and for this price I'd expect quality, service as well as the reasonable quantity and portion size. Dish portions are in such way that you should order 4-6 of them to account for one standard meal. So great experience for one time.

Their dessert platter is really good and the atmosphere is so nice , gives you a great cibe. Service is great. I wish they have more mocktail drinks option. The food is pretty costly but its unique mixture blend of two cultural food.

Recently visited Chotto for a business lunch meeting with my sales team. Wow what a place. Loved the Japanese Peruvian themed restaurant from top to bottom. The ambience was modern casual in design, and the service was excellent. We enjoyed an array of food from the BBQ Salmon to various sushi rolls...everything was delicious. I would highly recommend their Pisco Sour as a beginner cocktail. I intend on coming back for dinner, and soak up the dinner atmosphere.

Amazing atmosphere & diverse menu! The fusion of Japanese & Peruvian cuisine is pulled off impeccably and leaves you wanting more. The shared tasting menus are a go-to option for group dining and pair nicely with their uniquely crafted cocktails. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed the entire experience. The food was delicious and the dessert decadent! The customer service was excellent although we had to wait a bit for the meals to come. There’s a DJ on the patio playing music and the atmosphere was great! We loved the ambiance and would do it again! Only issue is it’s slightly on the pricey side but guess your paying for the experience as well.

I was sorely mistaken in my previous review (I had given them 3 stars). I was absolutely delighted with their tasting menu on my second visit. I don't know how much that has to do with the fact that I wasn't the one paying for it this time.... but let me tell you! Everything was fantastic. We were in a group of 8. We had the tasting menu. One in our group was pregnant, but no problem. She was taken care of very well and food substituted to suit her. Everything was explained to us in great detail, every item on the tasting menu tasted great, and was of a high quality. We went the whole nine yards with the food and the wine. Unfortunately, as this was a client meeting, I didn't have the audacity to pull out my phone and take pictures of everything. You'll have to take my word, that everything looked as beautiful as it tasted. What I will stick to from my last review is that it is a great place to host people (clients) and have a meal that will be memorable. The restaurant has put a lot of attention to detail to make it so. My second recommendation is, let someone else pickup the tab. Somehow it makes the food taste even better. Go figure!

Top notch Nikkei cuisine, excellent sharing menu or a la carte options. Beautiful ambiance and decor. Recommend going with a group so you can try everything! Highlights were gyoza, octopus, marinated chicken thighs and ceviche.

Kama K

I am sure most reviews of this place are quite positive, so I am probably not adding much by saying that the food, drink selection and atmosphere are all excellent. One thing to look out for is that due to being in rather high demand, it is possible for your reserved table to be unavailable for quite some time. Our reservation was for 8:00 and we were seated around 8:40. And there were a bunch of other people in the waiting area in the same situation. Although a bit of an inconvenience, I didn't feel like it would warrant taking a star off of my review of an otherwise excellent restaurant.

We really enjoyed our experience. We both set the food was delicious and we left sated and not hungry. I don't believe that all you can drink price is worth it unless you are consuming more than four drinks, but the entertainment and live DJ created a fun atmosphere. Probably my only complaint was the music was a touch loud at times, but will definitely be back.

All food items were very carefully crafted and tasted good. The service was exceptionally high standard and lady manager was so helpful and charming. Amazing experience. Thanks Chotto Matte. I will definitely recommend you to a friend.

We loved every minute at Chotto Matte, from the minute we walked in the door (hosts were super welcoming). Decor is one of the best in Toronto, very well designed, colourful, mood setting for sure. Music was nice tribal beats. Highly recommend the Jungle Brunch and also to add the bottomless drink option. It's a very good amount of gourmet dishes for your money and the cocktails are all very well put together. To top it all off, we had a beautiful woman with tropical feathery wings on stilts, a man outfitted with tribal jungle themed makeup and outfit who carried tropical birds around, and a talented fire breathing man, who all visited our table several times, never in an overbearing way. It's like a mini vacation. Highly recommend the beef dish (Asado De Tira), the shrimps (Gambas A La Parrilla), the cassava side dish and the tequila drink (Cheetah-Rita). Have already booked it for two more weekends since we visited last weekend!

Visited for the first time on Valentine's Day. Food was good, service was good, seating was way too close, prices are steep and music is so loud you can't hear the person across from you. The drink was very pretty but personally wasn't to my liking. Like many others have said, this place is more for the experience than anything else.

Honestly, just not good. Ordered a black Cod which was extremely greasy as well as sushi which was so bad we asked them to take it back after one bite. Came out expecting to spend money so that's not the issue but when you spend more than average on food, you expect the quality of it to match. Service was extremely slow and our waitress barely checked in with us throughout the night. Made 2/3 of us sick right after our meals. We went to D Bar after and were in the stalls sick for about 2 hours straight. Do not recommend.

I’ve dined here twice and this is what I have to say The food is a 3/5 - the food is overpriced for what you are getting but that is expected when in downtown Toronto. The portions are small and quality is inconsistent. Some of the items taste delicious and fresh, while other taste stale. We had the miso soup and miso shishito peppers, both were good! Then we had the spicy tuna crispy rice which tasted stale and old. The rice was cold and tasted like it has been sitting there for a couple of hours, they also just used sriracha instead of spicy mayo which was okay but not my favourite. We then ordered a dragon roll & the Asado de Tira. The dragon roll was mediocre but the Asado de Tira was delicious!! Service: 2/5 - The first time I went was a 0/5 but they stepped their game up a little this time. The first time we waited 30-45 minutes in between every item that was ordered. There were four of us dining and none of the food came out at the same time. We were practically biting our nails by the end. My friend would get her sushi roll and 15 minutes later I would get mine. I ordered a coke 3 times and it never came, then it took around 30 minutes for the bill after asking twice. (Took around 3.5 hours in total to dine) My second time going was definitely better! The server was attentive and kind. Our food was just a bit slow coming out again, we spent approx. 2 hours there. The one complaint I will make about the price is the fountain pop. They charged me $11 for two fountain pops that mainly contained of ice. The vibe: 5/5

Beautiful space, attentive and knowledgeable staff and amazing menu. The cocktails are creative and delicious and the food is too. A little on the pricier side but totally worth it. The quality and service are outstanding. Can't wait to visit again.

Wooow !! Wanted to try this place for the longest time and I finally did it . Starting I recommend very much getting a reservation beforehand as it can get busy very quick . We were two people and we mainly shared different dishes. The drinks are amazing, so many flavourful cocktails and beautiful presentations , be minded that each cocktail might go for around 20$ . Then we shared the yuca frita, that it was okay , nothing out of this world and not something I'll get again, I find that they have so many other things on their menu better than the yuca, as a latina I just had to tried it. I got the vegan ceviche made with lychee , it was delicious so fresh, ans very tasty . The dessert was very unique, I'm a fruity dessert lover and this one hit the spot . It was a mix between passion fruit and mango , perfect size for two and just wow . Overall I loved everything about this place since the welcoming to the end. My reasoning for a 4 stars is the washrooms, they were pretty gross when I went, I have never seen a washroom at a restaurant so not taken care of , none of them were usable at all, it wasn't pleasant at all. Finally keep in mind that this place is a bit pricey , we were 2 and the bill came around 250$. Perfect place for an special occasion or a date night . The food is very good quality and a very unique experience.

I went to this spot for my birthday a couple weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised that such an aesthetically beautiful, upper scale spot in probably the most convenient location in Toronto, would deliver such an amazing experience and overall great customer service. From the hostesses to the servers to the runners to the manager (lovely young woman), 10's across the board. I loved the shrimp spring rolls and the drinks. Can't wait to return!

My sister and I grabbed some dinner here last night after the leaf's game and all around what an enjoyable experience. I wish I could remember our serves name she was from England and she was lovely. We sat up along the bar in the dining room were they are making the food and it was fun watching the chiefs create the master pieces. We even got to sample a dish from one of the chiefs which was so nice of her to share with us. Everything we ate was delicious and tasted fresh, edamame , crispy rice with the spicy tuna, dragon rolls and more. We will defiantly return to try some more of the dishes ! Great Vibes, Great Food, Great Atmosphere.

The food was amazing, I selected the $110 tasting service and loved every bite. Ivy, our waitress was incredibly attentive and helpful. The staff was quick to remove used dishes without killing the rhythm of the table's conversation. Ivy's knowledge of the food and the drinks on the menu was impeccable. Have not had this good an experience at a restaurant in some time. My nitpicky side would say they could have timed the dishes coming out a little better and the pork belly cuts were a little too big -> as in it felt too rich, too much rich fat\meat per bite. BUT and this is a HUGE BUT -> Everything else, every little morsel and choice of garnish, cook time , the heat of the food when served it was all so perfect these were the only two things I could even think of that was not absolutely perfect. Will absolutely go again and I'm suggesting Chotto Matte as a "must visit" to everyone! (I could not finish this review without adding that the Black Cod was divine - literally melted in my mouth!) I've been a few times since this review but my latest visit to Chotto Matte has encouraged me to add here that Luliana is also one of their spectacular waitresses!!!

Absolutely loved their newly renovated patio! The food was equally amazing. Served in shareable plates, we ordered 8 plates to share within our group of 4 (we were going for a light lunch) and found it to be filling enough. Every dish was exquisite. Personally, we didn’t enjoy the pollo teriyaki as much but others may. Overall, great experience and highly recommend!

Tharmiga R

Do not skip the black cod and the yellowtail. Hands down one of the best dining experiences in Toronto.

Super pretty atmosphere and food was plated nicely and very vibrant. Staff wasn’t as communicative as we wanted-didn’t get back to us about uni and toro being available. Sushi bake was a disappointment, everything else was yummy and flavourful. Very fun fusion restaurant

What a gem in the heart of Toronto financial district, I absolutely loved the food, and the staff were super nice to us, especially our server Steve who was very attentive and made sure we were always comfortable and delivered an amazing service overall. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who’s into groovy vibes, exotic experiences, and flavorful food. Will be going there again for sure! Thank you folks for making our night.

Everytime I'm in Toronto, I make sure to go to Chotto Matte. Best octopus I've had in a long time. It's in the heart of downtown, so the ambiance feels sort of upscale and exclusive, but the servers are incredibly down to earth and welcoming. The menu is fresh and innovative. Be prepared to spend while you're here, though. Ask to be served by Frank. Hard worker, funny, and you could feel his passion for the food and for the restaurant itself. Really hip joint that's quickly become a Toronto favorite for me. I'm all in on Chotto.

Muns

Wonderful brunch experience on the patio! We went on a Saturday and they had live entertainment including circus performers and exotic animals! Very cool! Food was a unique Peruvian twist on Japanese cuisine. It was fresh, full of flavour and plated beautifully. Don’t forget to snap a picture before digging in! Would recommend for a special occasion for sure!

Melika G

I went for the jungle brunch experience, the food was amazing very fresh ingredients, the drinks were super cool, over experience was great all due to the ambiance and atmosphere. I feel the dinner menu is more extensive so would rather go for dinner, but over all amazing place.

Pratik Rangari

Chotto Matte's Jungle Brunch packs a flavourful punch worth splurging on but falls short in service standards. What we ordered: Big Plates 2 x Asado de tira (BBQ beef) 2 x Gambas a la Parrilla (shrimp) Sides 2 x Arroz chaufa (egg-fried rice) 2 x Yuca frita (cassava wedges) Everything was delicious with high quality ingredients *but* the food came out in sporadic intervals and the shrimp plates were served 35 minutes after the beef plates had been delivered to the table. Main courses should always be served together and I expected better from this restaurant. Food aside, the setting is picture perfect and a tropical escape in downtown TO. The live entertainment (DJ, acrobats) was a nice touch and parrots Annabelle and Van Gogh were a nice surprise. Would recommend for the experience but not a staple to return to time and time again.

Nick Dymond

I can't remember the last time I had to walk away hungry from the food I just ordered because its SO BAD. We had Vegan Cryspy Tuna and the Spicy Tuna Crispy. They both came COVERED with SRIRACHA sauce. Why?? All you get to taste is the SRIRACHA sauce, we took off the sauce and tried it. The fish itself was not fresh at all, it smelled SO fishy, and it was slimy, couldnt even finish the dish. The Asado de tira was the came with the saddest looking 2 peiced of overcooked beef ever, layed on top a ever thin bed of purple tinted babythrowup looking mash? The only taste was salt and it was SO salty. Arroz Chaufa tasted like a 12 yr old's first time to make fried rice, everything was mushed and undercooked, I am not sure if the flavor is suppose to be Burnt flavor??? You are better off eating any fried rice dish in chinatown Chicken Karage was DRY + Sauced with Ketchup all over it. Nuff said. Thanks but no thanks. I know Covid has hit restaurent hard, so we tried to support local business, but this place does not deserve it. We spend $130 at this place, and we even couldnt finish the small amount of food I ordered cause its so gross. I have never been so disappointed.

Jonathan Pantani

Wow... this spot is GREAT!!! We got a couple tasting menus for the table and were not disappointed at all. Everything that came out was delicious! Service was outstanding and the whole vibe of the place was so fun. This was definitely more than a restaurant but a whole experience.

Best Experience I had at a restaurant this summer. Loved everything about it. The food was savoury and tasty and the drinks were strong. You can tell they put all the liquor in the drinks nothing watered down or too fruity like you'll get elsewhere. Our server was super friendly and helpful. The hosts were excellent as well. The ambience was fun and lively and the crowd was beautiful. It felt like a lounge rather than restaurant. Definitely worth the money and will be going back.

Went last week with my father. It was my second time and my Fathers first experiencing Chotto Matte. My first experience was alright, nothing extraordinary but an experience I wanted to show my Father. The second time however, was outstanding our server (I believe his name was Joseph) was amazing, he recommended a multitude of dishes that we had no problem trying and loving. His knowledge of the cuisine and dishes impacted out experiences and made an overall more enjoyable experience. I do not usually write reviews but Joseph did an outstanding job that I finally wrote one. Food was amazing did A la Carte instead of tasting menu and did not regret it, food came out quick and promptly, the steaks cooked on the Robotto (I believe a fellow name Patrick cooked them) were cooked to perfection. First experience okay, Second experience amazing enough to give it 5 stars and recommend it to friends!

Robin Kang

Had a great time celebrating my birthday with friends! The performers were great and entertaining! The Jungle Brunch tasted great, although it is priced very high. The amount of food you get is on the low side but we all found it filling and delicious.

Yathu Karunailingam

Chotto Matte was a nice place, the food and service were excellent. The presentation and decor were also great. There are actual birds roaming around so pay attention and you'll see them.

After seeing a billion ads on Instagram, i finally went into see what the hype was all about. Be warned: menu is MASSIVE and can be overwhelming. I definitely zoned out when the waiter was telling us about the popular options????. My recommendation is to with at least 2 other people and share everything! We were very happy with our food (presentation and taste). The signature ceviche is a very busy dish. The fried shrimp rolls had an amazing dipping sauce. The octupus with purple potato was incredible. You have to get the blackened cod. I've never had cod taste like butter ????. We got the magic ball for dessert and the presentation is incredible but I'd definitely go elsewhere for dessert. Also, if you're into #plantparenthood, this place is an oasis of lush plants. I should have brought scissors to take some cuttings home hahaha ✂️????????????????

Reminds me of some clubs in Brazil. Hostess were friendly and model-esk (in that styled-to-be way). Dress nice. The club, i mean, restaurant is meant to be upscale. The food is good and picture perfect, if nothing to blog about. Try the latam sodas very different! I love the group meal concept. No one left hungry and there was plenty of selection. The wait staff was fantastic, they assign you a waiter/ress then have many intermediate staff to help deliver the food. Now. Let's talk about the hall to the bathroom... Don't go up there the first time unless you KNOW you are sober... Then def go back when you are not. The hallway is pitch black leading to a psychedelic black light glowing wall.... Words do no justice.

Mariel Cerezo

Suitable for people who like night-club style dining experience. Dishes are light portions. Need to order 6-8 dishes to make 2 people half fulfilled. Asian Street style tastes. I am not sure if it's overpriced. But overall, it's not a good experience to me. You barely hear what your friends talk over the table.

Tracy Vendiola

I went for the Jungle Brunch yesterday for my Birthday, the Ambience was great, the setting for the Jungle theme was great, service and attentions with the server was great. If I just consider the above as a one off experience I will give it a 4 stars, again one off experience. But now when you add the food to the picture for the price of 60 per person. Then it is way over price, the price is being set as a high end restaurant and how on earth you will serve edamame with salt as part of a tasting menu.....??? The restaurant as said to be Japanese Peruvian fusion, but the food does not give me any wow factor, and the food quality are at best average quality and we left the restaurant still feeling hungry and they can't even order any extra food at all. The pictures are the amount of food for 2 people and it cost $120 with drinks not included... I wish them the best of luck, will not recommend.

Nevin Bhandarkar

The service was impeccable and a beautiful patio. The food was okay. The crab shell sushi and bbq chicken, lamb chops were okay however felt that the rest of the dishes such as the beef tataki was a quite a let down.

Courtnay Noel

Peruvian Japanese Cuisine. I have been here twice. Not my every day restaurant as it’s expensive but definitely worth it. The service is excellent, staff are knowledgeable and make excellent recommendations. Dishes worth mentioning - shishito peppers, chotto ceviche, robata grill shrimp and chicken , lamb chops. The chotto matte dessert platter is amazing . Perfect size desserts and choices for the table to share. The cod is very tasty but it is quite expensive. The decor is cool. Inside is huge and spacious, large patio and even the washrooms are trendy. I’m sure I will be back again.

Sibat Anam

The food was really good but for me it’s a little overpriced! We did enjoy it. I honestly thought the black cod was going to be amazing but it was definitely too sweet for us! Ceviche was amazing!!!

Bruce Yu

Sarah (chef) and Diana made sure we were taken care of. Amazing service and compliments to all the chefs for some incredible dishes, especially the chef's complimentary fish with den miso and Peruvian chillies. Absolutely perfect!

Melanie Nicole

The yellowtail nikkei sashimi was absolutely amazing! Super fresh fish, flavours well balanced. Would also highly recommend the miso shishito peppers and the yuca fritters. Drinks were also very good. Everything else was under par - overcooked (pork belly, black cod) or not well thought out (pouring dipping sauce on tempura, strong cheese masking subtle bone marrow flavour, thick chocolate shell prevents you from getting ice cream and cake in 1 scoop) When factoring in the cost of these dishes, I would recommend you look somewhere else for your special dinner occasion.

Hadeel A

Food was excellent and the drinks were decently enjoyable. I recommend the cod, it's a bit on the pricey side and quite small but very delicious. Service was quick and efficient. Staff was always around so communication wasn't an issue either. Only complaint is the incredibly loud music, it just drowns everything else. Overall, great dinner experience though.

Lorenzo Noah

From the perspective of the food it's way overpriced and food was kinda bland to be quite honest. Service was good and the vibe at the place is really good. Had the shrimp dish and it was mostly shells and barely any shrimp. Also tried the crab sushi and that was also mostly rice and could barely taste the crab. Friends had the waygu beef which they really enjoyed but don't know if it was worth the $165. Overall decent experience

Sam Delavarkhan

I don’t leave a lot of reviews but I feel like my experience here is worth sharing for other foodies who might be interested in trying it out. First of all the location and decor is great, it gives off an underground, tropical vibe and I loved the music and atmosphere. I went with my partner for dinner and we ordered the $110 tasting menus as we love tapas style. My partner has a strong dislike for cilantro and we asked if the menu could be made without which was happily accommodated by the waiter. Unbelievably the first 2 dishes came out with cilantro all over as a garnish. We noticed this right away obviously and asked for them to be remade (which they did, however those 2 dishes also came up on our final bill separately from the tasting menu.. hopefully that was just an extreme oversight and not a tactic). Anyway the starting dishes were good, with the yellow tail sashimi easily the best and the peppers were a fun little dish as well. The last few dishes did not continue the momentum from the initial plates, specifically the last 2 (crispy pork belly and cod). These were overall uninspiring and bland with too much of whatever spice was thrown on to the pork and not enough of the miso on the cod. The chef choice desert was good though. Toronto is loaded with landmines for tasting menus so be aware of what you are ordering and I felt the service was a little sloppy for the price tag. Cool design and music though so that did salvage some of the experience.

Taruna Kaur

I love this place! I’ve travelled to Peru and their dishes are definitely well prepared with fresh authentic ingredients. Never travelled to Japan but my taste buds did here. Amazing drinks too and you should definitely take a trip to the washrooms and explore the art lol

One of the nicest patios in Toronto! Vibe is great - DJ on the weekends. Food was absolutely delicious. Tried a few dishes and couldn't decide on a favourite.

Sabrina Lokman

The vibe for this place is amazing— great music, tasty dishes (amazing desserts ♥️), and cool interior! First time here and we were shown the ropes (shareable meals vs a la carte. The price is appropriate for the location, but if you’re out of town, make sure you save $150+ if you’re super hungry! Indoors or outdoors, make sure you book at least 1 week in advance; it’s popular.

Gorgeous decor, elegant food options with mediocre service albeit a bit expensive. Came for a lunch meeting mid-day (12:30pm) restaurant wasn't busy - made a reservation anyway, just in case. When I arrived, the Hosting Staff greeted me but there wasn't enough staff on site to seat me right away (given the restaurant wasn't busy). When I was seated, my guests showed up but they didn't find where I was sitting and walked my guests all around the restaurant. The Serving staff came by right away and asked if I wanted a beverage. Came back when the rest of the guest arrived. They explained the menu and Nikkei styled tapas but we all decided to order from the Lunch menu. The lunch menu ranged from $38 - $70 dollars. I had the Lunch Flight for $38. I thought flavours were delightful, mostly balanced and each dish was thoughtful. My least favourite was the Salmon Bowl which came with my flight (spice overpowered the taste of the fish). My guests got the Rib Eye lunch which was 10oz in size for $50. Overall, worth the experience. Felt service could have been more attentive for the cost of the dishes. Especially, when there's 3 people at the table, you should know who ordered what and placed appropriately.

Amazing experience! Me and my husband went here for our anniversary and they did not disappoint us. We went all in with the tasting menu and I assure you it was the best choice if it's your first time to dine here, like us ☺ Yuliana (not sure if I spelled it right) was beyond expectation! It was so nice of her to explain each dishes they served us and always made sure everything was great for us. We felt so welcome. Thanks for the wonderful service. I'll hope to come back soon ☺

A chance to treat yourself! I ordered the NIKKEI III and it was well worth it, every dish that came out was amazing. I also ordered the Tentaculos de Pulpo (octopus) and it was divine! It is expensive but the experience I had was incomparable to other restaurants. I will be sure to come back to try their Jungle brunch. I highly recommend ordering a sharing menu and order a few a la carte items, you won't regret it!

Just had dinner at Chotto Matte - not planned, just a walk in. The food was amazing and the cocktails were awesome. Our server, Sam, made the occasion outstanding. He expertly guided us through food and drink, and anticipated what we would like based on previous dishes/drinks. He did a fantastic job. Really enjoyed it. We will be back.

Amazing experience in this fancy place. I’m from Vancouver and I didn’t expected that I can find such a nice Japanese food place in Toronto. I really loved the atmosphere(btw I like this restaurant’s name! I decided to come here because of this funny name), and cocktails were also very good. My favorite was Black cod. Our server was friendly and helpful. I definitely come back here when I’m in Toronto.

I think this place would be way better dine-in considering the price. While the sushi was good, I didn’t find it to be anything special and would probably opt to go for a cheaper place with rolls with more flavour. Maybe I had too high of expectations, but I found it kind of underwhelming.

This restaurant is exquisite with a stylish ambience but expensive. Food was excellent, especially the chicken karage and the egg fried rice. Server was very nice, constantly checked on us. I felt the restaurant was a bit over crowded. Overall the service and food was very good.

Everything on the set menus is good. EVERYTHING. There isn't a single thing you won't like. The service is outstanding, and the bartender will do bespoke drinks if you tell the waitperson what you like in a drink ????

I absolutely love their food. Especially their vegetarian options - sushi, fried eggplant and fried rice are so far my favorite.

Heart of financial district convenience - check Modern vibe - check Presentable for taking an important client - check Food quality - 3/5 Staff attentiveness - 4/5 If you have an expense account and need to impress a client and you’re right in the financial district, which is most patrons here, this place would be a solid choice. If you’re looking for high quality food, I’ve had better for less cost in the city. It’s not bad, just that the price that’s charged a lot of it goes to decor and location.

T R

Really enjoyed our dinner. Price was perhaps a little higher than expected, but the food was fantastic and the service justified it. Found myself still reliving some of the dishes even a day later. It's definitely recommend this place!

Great food- full of flavours, fresh ingredients, and visually appealing dishes.Great ambience with lots of tropical plants! Patio seating is covered. Bit expensive but the whole experience was very satisfying and worth the money!

This place is incredible. The food is absolutely delicious, the menu is huge and the staff are very friendly / knowledgeable. I love sitting at the bar and chatting with Josh, he’s awesome, helpful and incredibly talented. I love their sushi and cocktails the most. My girlfriend and I went down for their Day of the Dead dinner and I couldn’t of had a better experience. Every bite was incredible ! Chotto Matte also has arguably my favourite patio/deck in the entire city. You get a great view of CN tower, great for people watching and even if the weather isn’t great, you are protected ! Can’t beat it

Mike Salter

Great food, awesome atmosphere, a fun place for a special occasion. Loved the day of the dead show they put on!

It was Okay. I certainly expected more. Food was mediocre. Akira Back or Miku would be more recommend. A place for bankers to blow away money.

zahin saifullah

Incredible food and service. We had Tasting Menu 1. Loved it all. The seafood dishes stole the show. And the cocktails were amazing too: they made me a custom cocktail based on my taste (I wanted something vodka based and sour/refreshing). Will definitely go back.

Went here for a girlfriend’s birthday brunch! We dined on the patio and opted for the all you can drink for an extra $50! Brunch was a set menu, food was ok nothing too special. But we had an amazing time! There were live performances and they even had a live parrot!

Nicole m

Amazing experience, I was recommended to come here by some friends. My fiancé and I came on a Friday evening for my birthday, we were seated right away as we made a reservation. Service as well as ambiance was beyond our expectations. Our server Celine made everything top notch, she was awesome and catered to us at every moment she was able to. The food was an experience I’ve never had before, plated beautifully and the taste was to die for. I would highly recommend to come here for any special event.

Chotto Matte is a modern Peruvian Japanese restaurant. If you have never eaten this type of food, I highly suggest you try. I had not been lucky enough to have sampled Nikkei cuisine prior to my visit to Chotto in Miami, and my first time was unexpectedly an amazing experience! Fast forward I have eaten at the Toronto location more than most people and I can tell you that the food is exceptionally good and the service is very friendly far from stuck up. This place has only been around for a couple of years and half of that time was during covid, so it's still new and to me it appears that it is improving and innovating every month. Now live entertainment is not something you see at most places, let alone unique contemporary performances, from the Jungle brunch to the day of the dead, the lush and massive patio to the sleek and mysterious washrooms everyone I bring here loves it and for good reason! I personally would recommend going in the evening on a Friday (amazing DJ) and order yourself signature items or have a tasting menu put together for you to share with friends. My must haves: Nikkei Sashimi, Ceviche, lamb, black cod and maybe a pollo den miso. Must drinks: He so / She so, pisco sours and lima old fashion. There is very few places this cool in Toronto.

Dilpreet Bhattal

I was really impressed - it looked lovely in the pictures but the food and service was amazing. We ordered dragon rolls, gyoza and the crispy spicy tuna. We also ordered the dessert that everyone kinda posts that includes a chocolate ball with ice cream inside on top of a spongey cake. Overall the decor was very nice and the staff were super friendly. Would recommend for a night out. A little on the expensive side but nothing out of the ordinary for downtown - what was out of the ordinary for downtown was that the drinks weren't watered down and they were mixed well!

Nemanja Ivanovic

Great environment with lovely decor and plants. However, food quality is mixed. We like the hot food but the sushi is not the quality we expected. The slow cooked beef in the Bento is good. On the other hand, the lunch flight combo has sushi that taste more like those from all you can eat sushi. I suggest people to stay with those hot food in the menu, in particular those love sushi as you will not be satisfied.

Vic

I came here yesterday to enjoy a birthday dinner, it was a great experience overall. We came in a big group of 8 and we did a Nikkei Menu 3, which to my surprise, was very plentiful. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Cocktails all around were a big hit. I would say this is a pretty good hint but if your drink looks small, it's highly potent (so be careful haha). The minus 1 star was because my female guest had experienced a microaggression towards the end of the night by one of the male staff members, to which I found very displeasing. This left a bad taste in my experience and I have left that review with Chotto Matte in their internal email CRM post-experience (so please take a read, management). Aside from that, our server Diana was a wonderful person! We all received complimentary birthday shots as part of the celebration and a nice sparkler lit dessert platter to end the night. Overall, I would say if you want to experience a fine dining experience at Chotto Matte, go for the experience and book early (I booked a week in advance for 8)! I found that many people were turned away or had a 2 hour waiting time before they could get in.

Anisha Mistry

Went there on a Thursday evening at 6pm, we had a reservation so we were seated immediately. The interior decor is gorgeous! We ordered 4 dishes to the recommendation of our waiter (who was so knowledgable, such amazing service). The food was divine, the sushi honestly melted in my mouth. And do try the Sea Bass, it’s fantastic! What really made me love this place was the service. Water was filled promptly, dishes cleared away immediately, each new dish was introduced with an eloquent blurb. Loved it!

Jennie Ting

The high-quality meals and experimental options were great. I know it sounds strange, but Peruvian and Japanese cuisine actually go very well together! The jungle-like environment, chill music and dim lighting made it feel very relaxing and the environment was soothing. It is overall a massively large space, but the seating felt a bit too close, just not so close that I was very uncomfortable. I was distracted about how good my food was! Do have some dough in your wallet, because dining here is NOT cheap. The staff members were very kind, social and eager to be of assistance at all times.

Georgina Gao

Attentive service, immaculate presentation on every plate, and delectable flavors. We had the two best dishes as recommended by our waiter, the black cod and the Peking duck leg. The cod was amazing but they forgot to put sauce on the duck so they ended up taking it off the bill For us. All of the other seven dishes we ordered between the four of us were delicious, including all of the beverages. Highly recommend this place and it has a beautiful spacious patio with tons of room. Our waiter was always around, very knowledgeable, didn’t rush us to place an order and knew the menu like the back of his hand.

Taner Alpa

Everything about Chotto Matte was perfect! I would highly recommend Chotto Matte Toronto for 5 star food and even better service. They really take care of you here, before, during, and after the meal. Everyone was so nice to us, from the receptionist, to our waitress, to the general manager’s email after. We tried several different dishes, highlights were Spicy Tuna roll, Pollo den Miso, and Asado de Tira. Portions are actually pretty big for a la carte menu, we would have been fine with 2 dishes per person. The mocktails were also excellent! Some items are halal. Excellently decorated inside.

It was my first time here and after seeing many of my friends visit this summer I decided to give it a go. I was blown away by the incredible food. The Asado de Tira literally melts in your mouth. Prices were a little high for some of the dishes that is why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 but otherwise I really enjoyed my time there and the server was very friendly. I would go again for sure.

Had an awesome experience here. Came to celebrate a birthday & got the Nekkei Deluxe set. Truly delicious and we were so full after. Great service and ambiance.

Amazing place. Loved the vibe of the servers and the food was AMAZING. Sometimes you expect to pay a lot and get decent food, but you really pay for quality and delicious food here. A bit pricey, but you pay for amazing food, so I’m definitely coming back. My only dislike is that we didn’t really want the dessert platter but the waiter made us think it’s part of the birthday surprise for the birthday girl. Extra $40 for something we didn’t have the space to eat it all. I still would go back because the pros outweigh the one con.

As a loyal customer, I am very disappointed. Regarding the delivery orders, they have noticeably reduced the portions (while also increasing prices). It's ridiculous how small the ceviche portion got, it's half the size it used to be, and they didn't even warn the customer about these changes. I am not going to keep ordering.

Love the ambiance! Food was great and they have some halal options as well. The waitress went out of her way to make sure our food was just how we wanted it. Sushi was so perfect..

This restaurant is by far one of the best places I've been too downtown Toronto. The service is amazing from the hostess, to our server Yoshi and management. She had an amazing personality, had great recommendations and suggestions for food and drinks on the menu. We were there to celebrate a birthday and the staff genuinely cared and ensured we had a great time. Just wanted to say special thanks to everyone work the night of Feb. 11 2022, you all treated us with such care and it did not go unnoticed. I wish every restaurant strived for this kind of service! The manager Justin was so amazing and kind and really made my best friends birthday one to remember . Thank you guys so much and will be returning and recommending to others!

This Peruvian Japanese fusion cuisine restaurant offers a variety of succulent dishes. The service in our case was exceptional -our waiter made great suggestions and was very friendly and helpful. Dish prices are reflective of the quality of the food. I especially enjoyed the eggplant, black cod and the peking duck. I look forward to going back and trying more dishes soon!!

Visited here after the Raptors game. The place is too good. The ambience is amazing and the food is delicious as well. Fitzgerald was our server for the evening and was extremely kind and helpful in suggesting us what shall we order. Was always attentive towards our table. Thanks Fitz. Am surely coming back and recommend it too.

This absolutely gorgeous restaurant with the most beautiful patio is located downtown Toronto and serves Japanese – Peruvian food. Wonderful service and Jackson was great at recommending and explaining how the menu worked. The Peruvian food was absolutely tasty and I would rate a 10/10. The two rolls we ordered of sushi I would rate a 7/10. I would absolutely go back and stick to the Peruvian aspect of the menu. Absolutely fantastic experience. Be prepared to pay downtown Toronto prices. Well worth it between the service, experience, location and Peruvian food. We came here for the jungle brunch to celebrate our friends bachelorette and had the best time! The ambiance was lively, the artists were unreal, and all of the food/cocktails were delicious. There wasn’t anything on the menu we did not enjoy. Our server Luliana made our experience, she was amazing. Can’t wait to be back!

Definitely something to try. This place has a hip, swanky vibe, right in the heart of the financial district. Cool graffiti style murals. We selected the Nikkei menu III which had 9 courses. Everything was unique and presented beautifully. The standout dishes for us were the yellowtail sashimi and the miso black cod.

When you leave a restaurant angry, that's not a good thing. This place is not going to make it, unless they make some serious changes. We had a table for 4 on Saturday. Beautiful restaurant, and great entertainment and music. Entertainers were amazing. The concept could work well long term. Service and food wise, the place falls apart. Portions are tiny. When you pay $100.00 per person, you don't expect to leave hungry. Maybe this place is better suited for people who want to pretend they ate food. It took 30 mins for a drink to get to the table. Service was very slow, disjointed, despite all that staff. Won't be coming back. This is a one time experience. For that money, I can go to any other fine dining restaurant with top not service to match the price point. My advice: Reflect and Change.

We are out here before the ballet. The food was outstanding! Try the salmon tartare and the gyoza. Also the sato Maki was so good!

5/5 experience. The waitress was out of this world nice ! Food was fresh and AMAZING. Location was great! Interior was clean and stunning. AND they sent a follow up email!! What restaurant sends a follow up email? Honestly , loved that. Was Blown away. I will definitely be coming back.

We were here for our 3rd Marriage Anniversary and we were made to feel really special. From serving us some Sparkling wine to celebrate the occasion to the service we received; it was just amazing. The food was delicious while the drinks were to die for. My wife and I had an amazing time and would definitely come here again. Definitely a place to celebrate special occasions. 5 Stars from the both of us.

It's disappointing to see that COVID-19 preventive measures are not taken seriously at this restaurant. This restaurant has an open kitchen and the chef can be seen talking to other guests while cooking. However, the chef wore the face mask on his chin the whole time, which does absolutely nothing.
