Was there on Canada Day. The food was good, but compared to the pre-covid days several corners were cut (smaller portions, fewer items, etc). The service was very poor - not the standard of my last in person visit in December 2019. The waiter we had was incredibly rude - mocking my cocktail order and pronunciation of an item on the menu. A disappointing evening.

Went with a group of 10 for a birthday dinner and had a wonderful experience with a family style meal. All the dishes were made with fresh ingredients and had great unique flavours. The wait staff was also very friendly and accommodating. The take home fresh pasta was a nice gesture and completed the experience. The only drawback was that the pasta was a bit too al dente to our liking, but the take home was great as we got to cook it a bit longer.

There are s many good Italian spots in Toronto and this is one of them! I can't think of anything that makes them stand out but its a good spot to visit!

Just wow! I have to say that this was one of my favourite dining experiences I've ever had. I've been in the hospitality industry for over 13 years now and the service here was phenomenal. We started with a cocktail each, and had sausage stuffed olives to snack on. Then had a bottle of the barbera d'alba and shared a pigs blood spaghetti and a prosciutto pizza. Both were AMAZING. The pizza was simple and just so tasty, exactly the way Italian food should be. Our server, Tamara, was so friendly, but not over bearing. She was extremely knowledgeable, as were all the team members that we interacted with. Thank you for a great time. We will definitely be back when we visit Toronto again!

Authentic Italian cuisine good service , and very extensive wine menu.

The lamb was absolutely delicious (so tender) and is by far a favourite on their menu. If you're ever stuck, their tasting menu can be fun with each course accompanied by a wine pairing... Always have Ana amazing time here, even though it can feel a bit more fine dining than trendy at times. The staff are beyond knowledgeable :) Thank you for a wonderful time!!

It's hard not to give Rob Gentile and the team at Buca an incredible rating - after all, they have been consistently top of the restaurant game in Canada for several years now. Our visit on NYE (not always the best time to rate), was not mind blowing. Although pastas were exceptionally prepared, well seasoned, and portioned generously for this style restaurant, it was also very overpriced. It's always difficult to justify pasta dishes at such high cost. I do get it though.... Truffles everywhere, botarga, all kinds of either expensive or labour intensive items... But it still is just a pasta. Would love to come back here again, but not at full price a la cart.

Upscale place. I was impressed with menu and quality of the food. Gnocchi was perfectly done as was the polenta and margherita pizza. Their take on tiramisu was different and I loved it. I had much more food here but I can't remember it all except for the fact all of it was very good!

Delicious food and great for bigger parties. Portions are family style, intended for sharing. It was a little confusing at first so just order a small amount and go from there. If we had followed our server's recommended portions, we would have ended up with more than double what we ordered and lots of leftovers.

Service and decor:4 Food and pricing: 2 I’ve been here a few times with friends and I always ask why afterwards. Food is fine, but for the price it’s not worth the hype. The service is a bit pretentious but that’s to be expected for the area. It’s dark, loud and tries too hard to create that romantic cave ambiance that you can get in Italy where there are actual old wine cellars and ancient passages. The bigoli duck pasta, admittedly is good but I can’t remember anything else because that’s how little of an impression the food makes.

Whether you are going for an intimate dinner or out with a large group, Buca is a great choice. The food is the star of the show, but the service is a close second - both are 9/10. Neither the wine lost nor the ambience is far behind. When you walk in, you're greeted by the host in an almost cavernous setting, and then led into the beautifully minimal/industrial dining room. Your server will guide you through your meal with the perfect blend of knowledge, assertiveness, and understanding. They aren't hesitant to give feedback on your order, but you never feel uncomfortable. Everything on the menu is tasty. Their selection of meat and cheese rivals any in the city and the pasta is always done to perfection. Even the pizza is great. The melanzane is a personal favourite. Whatever you get, it's unlikely you'll be disappointed. P.s. If you go on your birthday, you might get a preportioned box of fresh pasta and ingredients to cook at home!

Had the most amazing experience at Buca last night. Even with the current labour shortage in the hospitality industry, Buca didn't fall short! We were a group of 14, and I had set up this dinner for my team. Marco, helped me with the reso and was absolutely hospitable with ensuring we had a great table and service. Our server Tamara was AWESOME! She was on top of all the recommendations, and didn't skip a beat with service. Our water and wine glasses were always full. The bussers/server assistants were so hospitable as well. There was a wipe after every course along with re-plating and new cutlery. Marco, I cannot thank you enough for making this evening happen for us, the team had a blast. Will be recommending Buca to everybody as my go to spot :)

Great atmosphere and awesome food! Only came for apps and drinks but would absolutely return for dinner.

Had my first and last meal at Buca tonight. For premium pricing, I expect a premium experience. Two of us (party of 6) ordered the Sea Bass (Branzino). The plates came with a very small piece of fish with nothing else on the plate. $42 for a naked piece of fish? I asked the waiter for a side of pasta saying that this wouldn’t be enough to fill up. He said “we don’t do sides of pasta. You can order a dinner plate of pasta if you wish”. Really? Six of us for dinner, two bottles of wine and it’s too much to throw us a side plate of pasta? We were forced to order a $25 plate of pasta with red sauce. In all of my years of dining out I have never had that response. After dinner I flagged down a manger. Told him the story. He said that I should have told him before and he could have done something. I said that I was telling him now and he can do something. He looked puzzled. Then he said he’d talk to a manager. I said that I thought he just said he was the manger. He left, didn’t come back and eventually we left. Very disappointed. Food flavour got it to 2 stars but the meals were tiny, attitude was obnoxious and entitled attitude unpleasant in my opinion.

This place is incredible for fine Dining. We went with a group of 4 and the bill came to over 500 bucks with tip. They are pricey for sure but quality is really good. My favourite are their appetizers which are better than mains. Overall great service and good food. Limited options if you're a vegan or vegetarian btw.

Food was a very positive surprise as we thought the menu was reduced due to Covid, but each item we got was absolutely phenomenal. Our server, Tamara, was also phenomenal she was friendly, knowledgable and very receptive of the service we appreciated. The must trys are the scallops, the Gnocco fritto and the duck pasta

Amazing meal all around. Everything was delicious. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful and kept everything moving at the right pace.

The exceptional & attentive service was match by fabulous selection of Italian food. The fish, meats, pasta & pizza were all ‘perfect’. To top it off - extraordinary wine selection. Highly recommend!

Jason Lee

Fantastic food and service. Not as pricey as you would expect if you don't drink. I would highly recommend the pizzas, and would love to go back!

Great tasting food. A bit more on the expensive side but hey... good food is not cheap I always say. Ambience is perfect for an evening out with close friends or family. The food quality is off the charts as well as the presentation. The Chefs there I have to say have some serious skill. Some of their creations are out if this world. I will definitely always return when I am in the mood for some food that's amazing. It's like Old school with a modern creative twist????

Four stars for the salumi, three stars for the eggplant dish, two stars for everything else but the dessert, which only deserves a zero star. The salumi are very flavorful and a pleasant surprise. What puzzles me though is why the waiter recommended the breadknote with the salumi. The breadknot is heavily salted and oily and does not pair well with the salumi at all. I have to drink a ton of water because of the saltiness. The eggplant dish has the potential to be a five star but it arrived lukewarm and the breading isn't as crispy/crunchy as it could be. The tiramisu dessert is a disaster. It tastes more like a heavy and cloyingly sweet custard with chocolate powder, with no coffee at all and the sponge cake/ladyfingers is almost nonexistent.

Food: 4 Decor: 4 Customer Service: 0 My friend enjoyed his last visit at Buca so we arranged another visit to celebrate his birthday with his mom. To be honest we enjoyed most of the food and our server was polite and attentive. However, the dinner was totally ruined from the beginning by the lack of customer orientation of the management. I went in asking if the birthday cake can be stored in their fridge only being told that we cannot have the cake in the restaurant due to policy. We did not hear about this anytime during the reservation and now that I checked nor was this policy written on their website. We didn’t really have any choice at that point but to sit down. A manager was called to explain their policy again that this strict no-outside-food policy was made because they take food allergy seriously. While I did not understand why our own cake would cause any food safety or allergy issues for their food, I told her I’m okay with following the policy, but it would’ve been nice if we were told in advance. The manager nicely told me that she’s sorry but in the future she recommend us to ask when making reservations. I found it’s incredibly insensitive for them to expect customers to ask instead of making it clear upfront. After all this is not a common policy across restaurants at this level. And who would’ve brought cakes to a restaurant except for celebrating a special occasion? How mood-killing would it be to take a birthday cake home without blowing the candles?

Rebecca Rivera

Our server was so quiet and awkward, and every interaction we had was so uncomfortable. There was no help with ordering either the drinks or the food itself, and this is one of those places where you need an Italian translator to understand what the heck is going on on that menu. I opted for a pizza which came out completely different than what I expected. That being said it was delicious and my cocktail was great. My friend ordered pasta and you could count on one hand how many of them were in her plate. I don't think I will ever return to this place but I don't think it's horrible either. There are just much better options within a 30 second walk from here.

Amazing experience. Went last night with a friend , we dropped our napkins a few times and the serve saw and immediately kept bringing new ones. They took our jackets and put them on for us as we left. Constantly came back to fill our wine. Absolutley amazing experience !!!

Kay Gatta

Excellent service and food. The waitress helped us with the menu because I am vegetarian and she was very attentive. The wine and pasta we ordered was amazing. We tried the $36 dollar cheese and it was expensive but arguably the best cheese I've tasted in my life. It is a high end place so prices are expected to be high but the food definitely matched the quality. The atmosphere was lively and quiet enough to hear each other. It was my husband's birthday so they added a little candle to our dessert. The chef even gave us a little sample to take home! Will definitely visit again!

Hidden in a corner of king street, this restaurant has an sexy ambiance. Definitely my favorite Italian restaurant in Toronto. Seasonal menu, truffles everywhere ????. Pricey but delicious. Pizza and pig ears are a must.

Great food, great service, great location, great vibe! The carbonara is not to be missed and the platter was delectable! Great spot for a date or to celebrate an occasion low key. Would definitely come back again!

The atmosphere is great. Tried the Su filindeu pasta with truffle - Buca is the only restaurant has the Su filindeu pasta in Canada according to the waiter. The waiter is very patient in giving recommendations since we don’t understand the menu very well (Most in Italians). The sorbet is made with wine has a special taste. 2 person cost around $140 after tax. Overall great experience.

Unbelievable foods and service. A five star experience from booking to dining to coat check. We felt like the most important people there. Authentic Italian food.

Not the best Italian place in Toronto but it was good. Menu was super hard to read. Pizza was absolutely delicious, this specific pasta dish wasn’t the best and wish I got another one. The eggplant dip was great. The anniversary gift is very cute and very lovely gesture from Buca, that home cooked pasta tasted much better than the one at the restaurant. Would love to be back to try their pastas again, the pricier ones should be better.

Cengiz Kadir

Went here with work colleagues. Lots of food to share. Everything taste wise was amazing could not fault the service whatsoever.

For a birthday, we came here to celebrate and the restaurant did not disappoint. I can understand why it has been on many list and continues to be. Buca's service is top or near the top in Toronto... fluid, attentive, and warm. Food service is orchestrated wonderfully... the timing is incredible and precise. The food itself is as delicious as it is beautiful. And on top of that, a thoughtful gift from the chef ended the night on a high note. The restaurant is a wonderful juxtaposition of modern and heritage. The building clearly has some old roots but its been updated to clean lines, exposed brick work, and artistic distress. There are two rooms ... one looks to be cozy and held in the wine cellar. It's gorgeous though... lots of glass enclosures highlighting their large wine library (the wine listing is quite extensive). The other is huge vaulted ceiling, exposed open kitchen, instagram worthy filtered sunlight, and in the evening, a romantic atmosphere. The atmosphere can change immediately though... earlier in the evening, it was easy to have a wonderful conversation. As the night went on, a huge group arrived and clearly was looking to enjoy the night. It was near impossible to hear across the table and we were about 5 tables away from them. As for the tables, i do appreciate how i could walk between them without needing to turn side ways. The service staff here is impeccable.. in addition to the actual servers, we probably interacted with 4 other servers and runners making sure our glass was never left empty, dishes cleared immediately, new cutlery and plates are given, and delivery of food just freshly prepared. Most of the time, this can feel over the top but there was a genuine warmth from them. Comparing this to my other top restaurant, Grey Gardens, I would say Buca is a bit more refined and subtle compared to the more energetic and fun service. Both worthy of being called top service though! We started with the scallops crudo, salami trio (cured goose, calabrese pork sausage, and proscuittini), eggplant parmigiana (parmigiana di melazane), trofie pasta (spring selection), duck breast (petto d'anatra), and finishing with the tiramisu. Scallops Crudo - Incredibly gorgeous plating and the flavour matched it. Thinly sliced scallops with a interesting smoked spring greens and ramps and a subtle heat coming from the n'duja in the sauce. It could have easily overwhelmed the scallops but it just played that line very well. Salami Trio - we selected the goose, spicy pork, and a cured pork ... from those 3, I like the calabrese the most. Full on flavour and with each chew, it just added to it. What stole the show was the pickled asparagus that came with it... wow, I wish I got more of that! Just a right punch of sour, tart, and a minute sweetness. Parmigiana di Melazune .. aka eggplant - A tower of burrata, creamy ricotta, and super crisped eggplant is presented on top of a balanced tomato sauce. This is not your momma's eggplant. It takes what is good from the regular Italian dish and just turn it up a notch with really good ingredients and execution. I love the creaminess of the ricotta, burrata, and eggplant to contrast with the fried crispy shell on the vegetable. Trofie Pasta ... hand made al dente pasta with spanish octopus, n'duja, fava beans, grape tomato, and bone marrow. Oh wow... this was very very good. It has that perfect chew and nooks and crannies to take in all the wonderful sauce. It's a lucious tomato based one with a good kick of spice to keep your taste buds wanting more. The grape tomato is a lovely burst of sweetness and the octopus was cooked wonderfully... tender! Petto D'anatra ... duck - Ok another winner. It was cooked to medium well with a super crackly skin and the fat beautifully rendered out. Well executed and the rhubarb was the perfect sweet tart compliment. Tiramisu ... gorgeous presentation and I love how the chocolate, espresso, and creamy marscapone played off each other. One of the best versions in Toronto!

Visited Buca last night, first night of their reopening. After the standard Covid protocol checks, we were seated. Our server was very friendly and made us feel very welcomed. Told us it was his first day back after a long layoff so it was nice to see how happy he was to be back. We ordered the Salumi plate to start. 3 types of meats cured in house served with preserved eggplant. We then shared the Cicorilli Pizze and the Bigoli Paste. Everytihng was absolutely amazing. Make sure you save the crust of the pizza to mop up the duck ragu from the Bigoli. Our cups and plates did have some visible dust but after brining it to our servers attention he quickly replaced them. The QR code bill payment option is a new function and after a couple of attempts it worked well. The staff attention to detail was impeccable as well. This was my first time at Buca but it definitely won't be my last. As the city begins to normalize, remember to be patient and kind to the staff in the hospitality industry. They are coming back after a long layoff and patrons are almost re-learning to socialize again in the new world. Kindess goes a long way. Thank you Buca for a great evening.

Reserved a spot for dinner for my birthday and was really hoping for a great meal. The food was prepared nicely but was very cold. This included the pasta and and pizza. A bit shocked considering we arrived for a very early meal and we're one of 3 tables only at the time. The staff were extremely nice and friendly and pleasant. Overall a decent experience.

Fantastic spot! At first had no idea where it was or how big the place was but the once inside... what a beautiful design. Their food was amazing and so was the staff. The pizza was top notch, will definitely be back. Perfect restaurant to take someone on a date, beautiful atmosphere. That pistachio ice cream is absolutely unreal.

The most delicious and authentic Italian restaurant in the city... I highly recommend this restaurant! Thank you for the wonderful service.

Michiel Janssen

Unreal! Where do I begin - the food is perfect! The unique pairings and fusions confuse the pallet in an exciting way. I would recommend you try something on the menu that is new/different...something you normally would shy away from. We had a cheese board - the pieces were small but the cheese was perfectly paired with other sides. We also had...*pause for effect*...sheep brain wrapped in fried prosciutto. The is the best dish we had that night. We also had a salad dish and bison heart. We did not enjoy the heart (as per out taste buds) but those who enjoy the texture of a heart protein would enjoy it. The staff noticed we didn't enjoy the heart and they kindly (without us asking) took this off the bill. We even offered to pay for it there was no error on the staff's or chef's part. There is a reason this place has high reviews...go and see for yourself.

Ksenya von Shlezinger

Great meal ... was taken here by friends and I been to the Yorkville location - this place is more meat-centric and the yorkville is more fish/seafood concentrate .. the vibe was great and the servers was very attentive throughout the meal with changing plates and cleaning the table off promptly, I appreciate good timing and the food was really tasty .. but the desert was what took the cake - super good and really strong sept of flavor - a cafe drenched tiramisu with creamy crunchy cake inside that was dense - it was heaven

Melissa Donato

Loved everything about this place - the atmosphere was super cool, staff were friendly and very knowledgeable, food was delicious (especially the pizza!). I guess the ONE downfall is how expensive it is, but once you hear them explain how much care and time they put into the food, it makes sense.

Alyssa Podesta

My friend took me here because she knew I liked Italian food. We ordered about half the menu for our table, and shared everything. I thought it was quite average Italian food, in comparison to the prices that it charged. We had some beef carpaccio dish - the cheese on it tasted too milky, and some pizza as appetizer. I couldn't pin point what it was, but the pizza was quite average. We also had a raw tuna dish, which was very good, but sliced too thick. For mains, the pig's blood spaghetti was delicious, and we also ordered a duck egg carbonara, which was also quite average. Lastly, the seafood polpo dish was amazing. Service was amazing, hence the 3 stars.

Thank you for making our post lockdown meal super delicious. If you're in the market for a delicious, fresh meal accompanied by a great selection of drinks and topped up with phenomenal service, then definitely hit up Buca. The price is worth the savory taste of the pasta and pizza, their hidden gem is the eggplant. What a dish! Kudos Buca, will definitely come back

Interesting food, unfortunately it's often too salty or oily. Desserts are cool, can be quite sweet. Overall their multilayered food strategy feels much too heavy, same for the service. Sadly I'd suggest to go elsewhere.

Great spot with great food. Came with a group of 5 and we all enjoyed our food and drinks - favourites were the eggplant appetizer and scallops. I rank 4/5 because of their policy on group bookings. We had to provide a credit card in advance and agree to pay $25 for any guest that did not show up. I think for a party of 5, this policy is really strict. There were people waiting for tables when we arrived, so I'm sure within 15 minutes of a no show reservation, the table could easily be filled. In addition, they don't split bills which I think is a very common request for groups and should be easy enough to do on any POS system.

Carrie T

Amazing meal and service. We came in for dinner with a medium sized party. The service from the start to finish was perfect. The food was all very good. The bread and pizzas were excellent. Everything here was well done, I was very impressed with the quality of the food, and ingredients.

From the moment I walked in the door I felt welcomed, the front desk staff were so warm and inviting. My husband and I sat at the chefs table near the kitchen, which I loved. It was near to see the kitchen team preparing these amazing dishes. Our server was amazing as well as the manager Adam. The wine list was beautiful, great food menu, and amazing cocktails. The food was amazing, I highly recommend the aged duck. We finished our night with house made amaros which was a nice way to conclude the meal. I will be back.

Fantastic Service. Excellent food. Would keep going back. Only one minor thing is, when I asked for some olive oil to put on my pizza, they said it would be an extra charge of $6. I have never seen an Italian restaurant charge for olive oil... I think it just makes them look a little cheap when they ask you if you are okay paying $6 for what looked like 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend the restaurant, we asked the manager a few questions about the menu... He took the time to explain it and had a conversation with us. Must try the Chacuterie board, Parma ham pizza and Arabbiatta pizza.

I dined at Buca king st last Wednesday fir my birthday and I have to say every item that We ordered was spectacular. The sea bass especially was exquisite, the salads we ordered were delicious and I had some yummy garlic fluffy bread to soak up the dressing. Kudos to chef Jorge and the rest of the staff at Buca. Service was impeccable as well. It was my first time dining at this restaurant, but it certainly won’t be my last.

The hype is real. This place will transport you right to Italy with their delicious fresh food. The service is friendly, professional and won't make you feel rushed if you want to have a long dinner with friends. I love coming here with medium sized group (3-8 people-ish) and getting a whole bunch of dishes to split.

We came here for dinner on a Sunday evening. The servers were extremely knowledgeable and attentive. We ordered the tartar and fried pigs ears to start. The tartar was amazing - best we’ve had. The pigs ears were good but we did find that they were chewy. We both ordered the spaghetti carbonara for our main - it was excellent. We ended our dinner with the tiramisu - it was good but we’ve had better.

A favourite Italian spot for wine, meats, cheese, and rotating menu. Service and food quality is always spot on but usually requires reso during peak hours (expected) . Dessert is always pleasing and atmosphere is rustic romantic . Entrance changes from time to time due to reso and street contribution but never too hard to find. Enjoy and be open to trying new things, that's what makes Buca special

Mark M

If I could give 0 stars I would. I have dined here several times before - with more or less satisfactory experiences. I was there this past weekend with a group of 10 and was absolutely appalled. Our reservation was at 8:30 - the main course was not served until 10:45 (with the 3rd course of steak and fish arriving past 11:00). We ordered a $300 steak (lesson learned - don't order the overpriced steak at an Italian restaurant) which arrived overcooked. At that point, many of us needed to leave to relieve babysitters so we ate the steak and asked for the bill. When the waiter asked us how our meals were - we told him about the steak. The brought the "director of operations" for Buca over to our table to discuss. We pointed out to him that a $300 steak should not be overcooked. He said that he "hadn't had a chance yet to speak to the chef about whether it was overcooked" but would look into "whether it actually was overcooked" and then send us an email next week. He totally dismissive and then asked us if we needed help processing our credit cards. We told him that 10 people telling him it was overcooked along with a grey piece of meat should be "proof" enough for him. We obviously weren't lying about the steak and were not requesting a discount (though a truly high class restaurant would certainly have provided one - especially considering the bill came to more than 6 times the cost of the steak). He was totally unapologetic when we described the terrible experience we had had that evening and seemed only concerned with getting us to pay the bill and get out the door. A restaurant should be embarrassed to charge this much and then treat their customers like this. If you are considering going here for a special occasion or a nice evening- just don't. If you want to pay for overpriced, mediocre food and be treated like garbage then this is the place. enjoy!

Reservation recommended. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. It was $200 for 2 people:1 starter, 1 main, 1 dessert and a bottle of wine. Beautiful space with exposed brick, very noisy, but to be expected with the vaulted space, I didn't feel it took away from conversation. The seasonal duck dish was prepared to perfection. We savored every bite. Our main server was o.k, adding slightly to a pretentious atmosphere, but a highlight of the meal was when the manager gifted my girlfriend with a box of ingredients to prepare a pasta dish at home as a thank you for choosing Buca for her celebration. It was such a definite highlight and made her feel special. I won't be visiting Buca for on a regular basis, but would consider it for another special occasion.

Had our anniversary dinner at Buca and the experience was phenomenal. We were served by Andrea and had some of the best service I've ever experienced. Andrea did an incredible job guiding us through the menu and also had an extensive knowledge of the wine list. Every dish she recommended ended up being one of our favorites of the night (we probably should've let her pick our entire meal in retrospect!). Thank you for making our night so memorable Andrea! For food recommendations, the beef tartar is probably one of my favorite beef dishes in Canada. It is punchy, smooth, yet perfectly balanced.

This place didn't do it for me. Yes, the staff are very knowledgeable and passionate about the food, but I wasn't really impressed by the food. The Bigoli (duck egg pasta with duck ragu) was the biggest joke. At $21, you get what looks like three bites of pasta. The Sanguinaccio (pork blood brownie), $12, was interesting, but it was a little gross to eat; not because it was blood, but because it tasted like blood. It was fun though because they lit it on fire. The Cervello (lamb brain wrapped in bacon), $9, was probably my favourite thing next to the pizza, but I'm discounting the pizza because pizza is so ordinary. The brain texture was really mushy and off-putting, but the bacon definitely saved it. And finally, the proscuitto pizza ($24) tasted perfectly fine. As pizza is kind of easy to make and ordinary, my only complaint is that it is about 100% overpriced. In general, this place was too expensive for the taste. I didn't find anything spectacular and I feel like the use of unconventional ingredients (lamb brain, pork blood) for excitement is a cop-out; other types of cuisines use them on a daily basis for better tasting dishes at a fraction of the price.

This is an amazing spot for food Italian cuisine. Four of us shared a cheese board, meat board, one pasta dish and one pizza. It was enough to satisfy. The flavors were phenomenal, the house made salami was incredible and the cheese was fantastic. The pasta was fresh, I'm guessing made in restaurant. The pizza was out of this world, nice crunch on the outside of the crust and just chewy enough inside with a great white sauce and top notch toppings.

Mikica J

It was nice restaurant but food was just avarage. I was expecting someting more. In general food was bit too salty for me and my friend. My Friend's carbonara was bit too salty and she got another one. But second pasta was bit too hard compare to the first one. However server were friendly and nice. Maybe its nice place for some drink and small snack.

Food is delicious. Oily pizzas but worth the calories. Didn’t like the waitress not asking whether we wanted to separate the bill. Came with one and then proceeds to look impatient when we ask her to do so. Who wants to do math on a Fri night after a long day of work? When you go in it’s really cool - like an underground secret place

Service is friendly but prices overall are quite high. I ordered the "pomodoro e tartufo" pizza with preserved tomato, burrata cheese, basil, and pregiato truffles. I also ordered the pasta stuffed with goose and topped with truffle. Both were delicious but the burrata was mostly the inner cream with the outer solid layer missing, and the portion size of the pasta dish was very small.

Quality pasta and a great dining atmosphere. Although the prices aren't cheap you certainly get what you pay for! I had an appetizer a main pasta dish and a cocktail. Great food all around! I'm eager to try one of the other locations.

You couldn't ask for a better Italian culinary experience short of going to Italy. The staff are friendly and incredibly knowledgeable of their products, the service is on point, and the atmosphere is unique; soft set, low lights, and placed underground giving you the feeling of being secluded within the busy sorroundings of King St. The food is authentic and fresh. Meats taste amazing, cheeses even more so, and the pasta dishes are infused with flavour. I tried the Panacotta, fruity and delightful, and the Tiramisu for dessert, a little too sweet but luxriously creamy. I cannot find anything to fault this place. i loved it, and I'm sure you will too.

I was fortunate enough to celebrate my birthday dinner here and i couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the atmosphere, to the staff and food. Tamara was our host and she knew exactly what to recommend. She was knowledgeable about the food and drinks and very friendly. The food was just exceptional! Every bite and my table was in heaven! Highly recommend coming here.

Brandon Koykka

Amazing restaurant! Food was top notch. I had the Peking duck which was incredible! The staff was so accomodating and thoughtfull. Will definitely visit next time we are in TO! Highly recommended!

We were four people and could actually have one conversation without yelling. The staff was well trained and just magically appeared whenever we needed them, though the place was packed. The food was exactly what I had hoped for, picky as I am after many trips to Italy. The reasonably priced Dolcetto "table wine" was so good we ordered another bottle of it. Book early because I'm not the only one who loves this place.

Alec Beckett

Excellent food and wine experience. For Europeans a bit overpriced. Just enjoy atmosphere and celebrate life.

Jeff Tebbens

My favourite spot in the city. First off, the dough balls are amazingly addicting. The pizza, you cut with shears which is super fun. The cocktails are nice. And I didn’t find it too expensive. I’ve been back multiple times and always recommend for date nights to friends.

Kevin McPhillips

Excellent service in a gorgeous setting. Food was phenomenal. Everything was wonderful. Gotta try the eggplant parmesan. A fine evening of luxury.

CC LARA

This place was amazing. Is it pricy but well worth it for a night out. The service was prompt and attentive. The home made pasta was perfectly done. The beef cheeks were fork tender and full of flavor. The aged tomato sauce on the pizza was very rich in flavor. This place is a must try.

Jesselle R

Amazing cocktails and food.

Personally I prefer the Yorkville location to the downtown location. I find that although the quality is always good, and your meal is always decent in taste there is no WOW factor. Very cozy ambience, and staff is very nice and polite. I would compare to any other Italian restaurant in the city, I wouldn't say the downtown location is anything special in their dishes. I wish this wasn't the case, as I absolutely love their uptown location.

Best Italian restaurant we have ever eaten at outside of Italy. Wonderful Sicilian food! Our waiter was excellent and very helpful in his recommendations which were all excellent. Definitely a place to go back to on our next trip to Toronto!

Angela Duldhardt

Had a lovely meal a couple days ago, despite the rain, which I must say a restaurant like Buca must do better to accommodate terrible weather. Surely yall can afford large umbrellas for all your tables! Rain aside, we did enjoy our meals and the lovely Italian servers. I will say my least favorite dish was the dumplings, truly just a large piece of dough and some salami to stuff inside? The concept of the dish is weird and I believe out of place in this restaurant. I would come back and I would recommend folks who enjoy Italian food and appreciate a great wine list to visit this spot.

Went there this past Sat night for a friend's birthday, it was a party of four. I made my reservation through open table, but I also called to let them know that we have a gift certificate for this restaurant. The minute we got there we let the host know that we have a gift card for this place and they said that no one has told them about it and they won't honor our gift card as their corporate head office hasn't notified them. This was the strangest thing I've ever heard in my life! The ambiance is business-casual which was nice. The only thing that I thought was slightly creepy about the environment was that there’s meat displayed as part of their showcase: mind you, I’m not a vegetarian but I still believe that animals should be respected and that their legs shouldn’t be displayed as part of a restaurant’s showcase. The waitress (can’t remember her name) was really nice however I was quite disappointed that they were out of burrata and on top of that the warm olives we ordered never arrived. We ordered quite a bit of dishes but my favourite was the fungi pizza and angel haired pasta. The prices are as expected for a high-end Italian restaurant. The portions are reasonable as well. I also liked that at the end of the night one of the hosts came by and gave the birthday girl a pasta dish for her to take home, that was very thoughtful and nice of them. Overall, the experience was decent, I’m just irritated that we didn’t get to use our $300 gift certificate and didn’t get to enjoy the food I’d normally enjoy at most Italian restaurants.

Excellent food. A bit over priced. Especially the steak, for $210, it wasn't that impressive. Pizza pasta all great. Atmosphere is nice. Mostly good service.

I had a really hard time finding the place for some reason. But once I got inside I completely forgot how frustrated I was trying to find it. authentic Italian with house made pastas and sommelier in house for wine pairings lovely atmosphere, made me feel like I was in Europe! Everything we had was awesome! The charcuterie board was the best way to start our night, highly recommend

Best pasta I ever had! Although I haven't tried that many. I usually go for pizza at an Italian restaurant but decided to try something different. Got the spaghetti alla carbonara ($19) and it was delicious. Pasta was fresh, top quality ingredients and flavourful. Would appreciate if it was more in quantity and if they served bread before the meal.

Mr Moni

I was really amazed by the unique food and hospitality of Buca. Me and my wife went there on the night of our anniversary and were taken on a journey. With professional staff and charming atmosphere the restaurant didn't offer any distractions as the food and the date was the center piece of our night. By the end we were full, struggling to get up, and thinking of the next occasion to celebrate here.

Expensive, but absolutely outstanding food. Rich food made with high quality and often made in house ingredients. We honestly liked the appetizers more than the main courses even. The salmon was to die for. The pizzas were huge and exceptional. Served whole with scissors. The table next to us was speaking in Italian, so that’s a good sign.

The food was phenomenal - so flavourful and cooked to perfection with excellent portion sizes. The wine was beautiful and deep, we ordered a nice Barbera. But the service was 10/10 - extremely attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. This is the real deal in quality authentic Italian dining in Toronto.

Incredible service and food, relaxed environment and a very chill atmosphere.

hannah janssen

Outstanding food, staff, and ambiance. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was exceptional; our server was incredibly friendly and gave us a lot of recommendations (which were all spot-on). Would highly recommend the duck Bigoli, the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce had a great duck flavor. Overall a great dining experience and understandably one of Toronto's best Italian restaurants.

Sean Liotta

The atmosphere was very unique. Aged brick interior, exposed ceilings and pipes and very unique light fixtures. The staff was extremely pleasant, welcoming, and knowledgable about the menu. They cleaned out the table, plates, forks and knives after the appetizers and replaced them. A nice touch was the waiter who replaced our plates and utensils had a towel to not touch anything with her bare hands. The food was fantastic and it speaks for itself. Fresh pasta full of flavour. Extremely thin pizzas - great tasting fresh salads. I loved the food at Buca - would highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back!

Raphael H

The only reason I am not giving it a full 5 stars was that my friends got a little attitude from the bartender while we were waiting for our table. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is very well accomplished as it's strikes the right balance between upscale and relaxed. The charcuterie board will keep you up at night wondering which meat or cheese was more fantastic. The person that makes the sourdough bread should have a street named after them.

Hospitality level: God:) Wine selection is impressive Leather aprons are so stylish

The food is very good. The mood is very nice. The wine selection is excellent, but very expensive, much more than elsewhere. The waiter was too sure of himself and very loud, and did not necessarily give the right advice.

This restaurant was excellent. We called last minute on a Thursday night and they fit us in. The staff was extremely nice and pleasant , and very knowledgable about the menu. The waitress replaced our plates and utensils after each course and she had a towel on our plate not to touch anything with her bare hands. Extremely clean. The food was fantastic and presentation stellar - would highly recommend this place and would definitely go back!

This place is amazing. The food was fresh, well plated and delicious. Service was amazing and sometimes stealth, with empty plates disappearing without notice. Ambiance was good as well. Pricey, but well worth the splurge if visiting Toronto for liesure or an impressive place for a business dinner. Reservations a must and they can cater to larger groups.

Linda Peters

Food was fine, environment was a bit stuffy, and bar seating was NOT comfortable. But the main reason I took off the stars is because my friend who is vegetarian was served a pizza with bacon on it, after she was told by the waitress that it did not contain meat...even worse, the waitress was not apologetic at all!

Niamh Geaney

Buca used to be my absolute favourite restaurant but my boyfriend and I went for valentine’s day and I will never go again. Danilo, our waiter, asked us to hurry with our appetizer so he could bring out mains. We definitely were not taking a long time, but either way, inappropriate. He was continuously rude and seemingly uncaring. Although the food was fantastic per usual, the tables were extremely close (about 2 feet), definitely over capacity and the atmosphere was extremely different than pre-covid. They also put my pizza crusts in my to-go box which I found extremely unusual for a restaurant. I don’t know if the other locations have changed as well, but I will never go here again.

Jacqui Warnock

Delicious food and great atmosphere. Prefer this location over Yorkville... Different crowd.

Alessandra Lanzone

We went here for a family dinner (7 people in total). We were a few minutes to for our reservation. We ended up having to wait 40 minutes for our table. The hostess team were dismissive, unprofessional and kept on giving us misinformation about when our table would be ready. The anti pasta was good. The food was not good at all. Creativity in cooking is important but a chef must make sure the flavors work together. We had a variety of dishes between the 7 of us and non of them was tasty or memorable. We spent close to a $1000 that night and in my opinion was a complete waste of money and time. I must say that one of our servers was a very attentive and polite gentleman.

Agnes Mak

Excellent atmosphere, inside and on the patio. Knowledgeable waiters and great service. The food tastes great and the dishes are unique. It's a gem to go out on a classy dinner, or for a business lunch. Downside is that it's very low value for the price, and with the size of the portions you'd better not bring a big appetite.

Around 4pm yesterday, the day before my dinner booking at Buca, I received a phone call from a female staff at the restaurant to confirm whether if we are planning to keep the reservation. She replied “great. Thank you!” after receiving my confirmation, and gently hung up the phone call. As we arrived at Buca today at 7:30pm, what welcomed us was a restaurant closure notice saying that the restaurant is closed from today until after Christmas. I looked up on my phone and confirmed that we indeed have arrived at the booked Buca location. It was only then I found out on my phone, Buca had actually sent me an email informing that my booking had been cancelled on the day at 3pm. One would expect any restaurant to at least give their cancelled tables a call where they could confirm the delivery of the message and perhaps use that opportunity to offer a light apology for the inconvenience this has caused which likely will appease any cancelled guests. Unfortunately Buca doesn’t think that you are good enough for them to dial the 10 digits to reach you unless it’s for confirming that you are here to contribute to their revenue. Buca filed for creditor protections back in 2020, and as Chris Nuttall-Smith and Amy Pataki hinted in their reports in Toronto Life and Toronto Stars respectively, the reasons behind Buca’s financial crisis is far beyond the damage the pandemic could have done. It’s deeply rooted in their management of the cash flow, the sexual harassment human rights complaint filed by a former women staff Nicole Lin at their cousin restaurant Jacob & Co owned by the same team, and this penurious “customer service” that I experienced first handed today without even having to dine at the restaurant. A restaurant in such paralyzed state that’s entirely self-inflicted could use some help in putting it out of its own misery. Why not look up Nuttall-Smith or Pataki’s writing about Buca that are both available online. They might help further confirm whether booking with Buca is the potentially a right decision or not.

Very solid Italian food with some creative takes. The parmigiana with eggplant had some of my favorite flavors: an especially tasty tomato sauce, fresh ricotta that dissolved into the sauce, basil, and eggplant. However, there was too much breading such that the lack of eggplant presence left more to be desired; it was like eating crispy fried dough. The bigoli was cooked perfectly al dente; the thick noodle gave it a satisfying chew. The duck reduced well into the ragu in both flavor and texture. Auxiliary flavors like tomatoes, cream, and Venetian spices were all on point for the sauce. Every bite was a joy to eat.

Prashanth Fernando

Excellent service. The flavours of each dish were all well balanced and very delicious. Never disappointed everytime I come here. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who hasn't tried this place yet (coming from an old cook from Momofuku)

Michelle W

Buca makes exceptional food that continues to define Italian cuisine in Toronto. Top dishes I've had include the bigoli (their signature) with a duck offal ragu; a pasta made with pork blood in the dough; porchetta di testa; and a braised Lamb and pepperoncini pizza. Also delicious and novel are the housemade liquor infusions. Takeout operation during the pandemic was mostly the old classics. I look forward to dining with them again soon.

Esra Simard

Great Italian restaurant! Always have a great meal here and the service is always attentive, but not intrusive.

Oretta Bullish

Ordered via Uber Eats, the pizza is of a ridiculous size. About 7 inches in diameter if I'm being generous, honestly thought it was a joke. Cannot believe the charge 18 dollars for that (or 26 if you go for the truffle one!). No quality of ingredients justify that and honestly - it was ok, was more like oily bread. So that's not even a good excuse. The bread knots were over-baked so were hard to eat. The pasta was good. Cannoli, again was all right, wouldn't pay $5 for it. Rip off.

This place is impressive from every aspect of a dining experience!!! The service is second to none, and the food is spectacular. After my first time eating here I can't wait to take other friends. It was also for a birthday dinner, and the staff made a point of making it very special. So much appreciated. Also have to mention how cool the location is (King & Portland); the exposed brick building, open kitchen, and super atmosphere added to the whole evening.

One of my best dining experiences. Service was great and the food was amazing. We had asked them to curate a tasting menu for us and each dish was different and delicious. Would highly recommend this to everyone.

So much hype about this place; I was quite excited for it, and it left me feeling like a tourist who just clearly over-payed for an all-around underwhelming experience. Where to start? Well, the service we had was poor. No other way to put it. We had to wait over 20 minutes to even get our drink order in because the server was obsessed with up-selling us on the tasting menu. After finally relenting to go with the tasting menu, despite the fact that half of us did not want to go that route, two of us still got excluded from it and received full entrees. No big deal, except for the fact that we all agreed to evenly split the bill that night so it really messed things up. Human error happens, though I feel in this instance the service just did a poor job of actually listening to the patrons, and it would have all been forgiven had the food and the rest of the experience been pure class, but it was anything but. The burrata starter was devoid of flavour. I honestly had better burrata from the Tre-Stelle I sometimes buy at the supermarket. The charcuterie, although possessing a very nice bison salami, was tiny and not worth the cost. The rest of it was, again, nothing outside of the realm of what you could purchase in a supermarket. It was a poor start. The mains did not fare much better. Both the branzino and duck pasta were mediocre. Nothing about the flavour popped out in any way, and although I wouldn't say either dish was totally bland, it did not make me feel that it was something I myself could not make at home. To add to that, the branzino, at $42, came with no sides whatsoever. Again, the best word to describe the meal is 'underwhelming.' Desserts were hit and miss, with the tiramisu certainly not being anything like an actual Italian tiramisu. It was more like an odd coffee flavoured pudding. There was a tort that was quite nice, and the bonus star is given because one of the hostesses, who knew someone in our party, did hook-up a couple of freebies. It was very nice of her, and much appreciated, though it could not save the disappointment of the evening. At nearly $1400 for 8 of us (with only two bottles of wine ordered) we all left dissatisfied. A few members of the party who had been to Bucca before had said that this was not a typical experience, but as a first-timer, it basically ensured I would not be coming back any time soon to find out.

Had dinner here with my family a few weeks ago and I'm not sure what the reviews are about. The decor is nice, wine list is extravagant but they were out of quite a few things. Charcuterie was boring with mediocre presentation. Pasta was bland and super disappointing. Starters were ok but I wouldn't return, especially for the price. Two stars are for our server as he was helpful and very patient

BUCA is simply exquisite. The menu is always interesting and delicious. Located in the heart of the Toronto Club District, BUCA has a lot to offer from delicious Italian classics to more modern touches. This location is more centred around meats; while their Buca Osteria (Yorkville) has a bigger focus on seafood. Overall, I would rate the Yorkville location higher than this one due to a slightly better service.

Nadia A

I was pleasantly surprised by Buca. I was expecting overpriced, overrated King Street West but the service was great! The atmosphere was conducive to catching up with friends and the happy hour menu was solid!!! Delicious & substantial portions for $5 - $7 and cocktails ranging from $7 - $9. Grab a few plates to share for a light, tasty & cheapish dinner. Order the bruschetta, a couple of the pizzas & an individual sized charcuterie board :)

An extremely high end place that has a very unique vibe and environment to it. It's located in an side alley street so finding it might be a little bit difficult. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about every question we had and he answered everything with a suggestion. It was my first time ever being to a high end restaurant like that but our server made it such an easy experience with his knowledge. We got a few sample meats and the bread knots and then two pastas with one being the pork blood spaghetti. The meats were extremely good and they came on a charcuterie board. The pastas were good themselves but I can say they had such a unique flavour that I've never had before. Overall it's quite a pricey place but its reputation precedes it. I would recommend anyone to visit because the servers always have answers to any questions you have and it makes the experience so much more enjoyable and easier.

King Street west Italian staple, with amazing pastas, pizza, cheese, wines and the most rustic and chill atmospheres for dates, business or dinner parties.

Service was fantastic. The music was wayyyy too loud. The cocktail my husband ordered tasted like a child mixed a bunch of sugary syrups together. He took two sips and left it. We ordered many items off the menu (3 apps, 1 pizza, 2 pastas, 1 dessert), the best thing was the cheese board. The other dishes were just ok. We were a little disappointed because many of our friends were raving about the food. Could have been an off night for the kitchen, but our server was very good and attentive.

The food and service never disappoints. The staff is extremely well trained and it shows with every visit. We keep trying other places but always end up coming back to Buca. The rib steak, while pricy, stands up to some of the finest steak houses in the city. It’s exceptional and you get what you pay for.
