My partner and I were in Thunder Bay for the week, up from Hamilton. We wanted a nice place for dinner one evening, and based on the reviews we chose the Caribou, and it was a good choice. The food was delicious. I had the piri piri chicken and my partner had the mafaldine. Everything was cooked perfectly. If I'm ever back in Thunder Bay, I will definitely eat here again.

If you are seeking fine dining, great decor, service and awesome fare, and full wheelchair accessibility, the Caribou is the place to go. Subdued lighting, and a warm atmosphere make it the perfect place for a romantic dinner or a gathering of friends. The service is friendly and they care about quality. Always crisp and clean, there are open tables with removable loose chairs (perfect if you use wheelchairs like myself and my husband), as well as padded booths. The menu is select, always featuring the best of the best in season dishes not to mention some very delectable desserts and an extensive wine selection and other beverages. If you aren't satisfied or a mistake is made, the Caribou staff are always sure to please.

Great place to go to celebrate with friends! My friends and I decided that rather then spend gifts on each other for Christmas last year, we would celebrate in one another company and enjoy good food! Everything we had tasted fantastic and our server was very knowledgeable about all the dishes. The kitchen was great and able to accommodate all of our crazy allergies as well.

My spoiled palate was quite pleased with the gastronomic experience at Caribou. The menu is a perfect fusion between some classic dishes and a modern twist. We had the BBQ duck breast with a flight of reds and artic char with a flight of white wines. All in a relaxed atmosphere. The portions are quite reasonable, and as other reviewers pointed it out: SAVE room for desert!!

Seriously, this place is great. The only thing best than the food is the staff. Extremely friendly and very attentive. This is a must stop every time im in the Thunder Bay area.

Went to Caribou just to check it out. Went for their $20. Pizza/Caesar Salad/Hummus&Pita and Budino special. It was terrific. A Budino is like a little dessert in a cup that is to die for. The hummus was equally as good. The atmosphere was a little stuffy for me. I am glad I happened to be dressed up that day because it is not what I would call casual. I also would not bring children there but that's just me. I am sure they have highchair.

A pretty fancy restaurant, perfect place to try to impress your clients. When busy it can be a little noisy so if you've got a group try to be in the section off to the left (closer to the kitchen/prep) but it is quieter.

Used to be better but the compition has definitely caught up in the last few years. The food is still good as is the wine list but it still suffers from being in a box in the parking lot of the Keg. There are about a million cooler places empty buildings in the city that would be more interesting. I often wonder if there are identical restaurants in other smaller cities in Keg parking lots of Kegs. Is there a Bison in Winnipeg?

Be prepared to have your coat checked at the door. Complimentary hummus and soft, fresh bread, so delicious I'd have paid for it as an appetizer. We had the antipasta (easily enough food for 4) as an appetizer and it was incredible: a variety of olives with a wide range of flavours, three delicious cheeses and two savoury meats, served with slices of fresh salted pita bread with mild chili spices baked in. I had the 4-cheese pizza with meat as well, fantastic flavour. My wife had the Mojo Sirloin Steak med. rare, it was succulent and the sauce was very flavourful. Excellent meal, ambience, and service.

My wife and I had a nice time at Caribou. While the service wasn't the best we've ever experienced, the staff was very knowledgeable about gluten allergies and the menu offered several choices for my wife, who has a gluten allergy, to eat. I had a lamb special that was a bit small in portion size but tasty. My wife had another special, a steak I believe, and enjoyed it. The restaurant had a nice, calm ambiance to it that we enjoyed as well. Overall, good food, good gluten-allergen knowledge and a nice atmosphere made Caribou a good choice for us that evening.

I was in Thunder Bay on business and had Caribou recommended to me before even landing in the city. This has been some of the most classically simple and amazing food. Our server Ashton was 10 out of 10 friendly and helpful. My diner guest had a severe shellfish allergy and we were made to feel fully comfortable. From the dining room the kitchen looks clean, happy and welcoming. I would highly recommend Caribou to anyone in Thunder Bay looking for the best meal possible.

The Caribou is our annual stop on our trek north to our fishing lodge. The food has never disappointed. The staff is great as is the wine/beer offerings. I also have dreams thinking about the deserts—especially the brûlée with the raspberries and hot Carmel sauce.

Hubby & I just went for Sunday dinner. He had the lamb shank & I the salmon, with a nice bottle of pinot gris. Everything was delectable. Hubby even had the peanut butter cheesecake, and claimed it was lovely. The service was good, a little slow. A bit on the pricy side, but a nice treat, from time to time.

Excellent. Food was terrific - the duck was perfect, served with an Asian-inspired dish. The sirloin came with a unique barbeque sauce. The best part might have actually been the homemade hummus, served with bread before the meal. The server was friendly, helpful, and attentive. I'd recommend the Caribou to anyone. So glad we stopped here, rather than the Keg next door.

Thunder Bay is so fortunate to have Caribou. Food is always great and service impeccable. The only drawback is it gets a little loud when the place is packed, but nothing can be done about that. If you ascribe to the rule that a restaurant is great when there’s a lineup and a full house then Caribou fills that order!

Flat Iron Steak - interesting fusion of Asian cuisine, this steak was served atop a bed of kimchi fried rice and topped with a fried egg. The steak was medium-rare as asked, tender, and tasty. The rice was slightly spicy because of the kimchi and had a nice slight crunch to it because of chopped celery bits.

This place was an amazing find. While traveling thru town we tried to go to Keg but was waiting list but across parking lotwe seen The Caribou. Upon entering the amazing host said he could squeeze us into the last 2 spots at the bar right away. After being seated and quickly served 2 delicious cocktails our orders were place then ordered the most amazing pork chop ive ever eaten. Also ordered rabbit pasta dish that I can't remember the name of. Everything was so delicious noticed all the pizza were brick oven fried thin crust. So even though we were full we order a Quattro Formagi pizza to take with us to go on the road. Best meal we had on the trip across Ontario was here!

Ordered take out: steak frites and the salmon. The steak was cold and very tough, unable to finish it. No cutlery provided and was staying at a hotel. It literally broke my plastic cutlery it was so chewy/tough. My boyfriend enjoyed the salmon and it was warmer when picked up. We arrived before it was ready and therefore it should have still been warm if cooked at an appropriate time. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it would probably be a better experience in the restaurant if the circumstances were different.

There's two patio areas-- one for reservations that's covered and one for walk-ins under open sky-- which is really nice and thoroughly appreciated. The restaurant itself is not on the main road so there's hardly any traffic noise or smell The piri-piri chicken is really tender and juicy. The mistofritti is all perfectly cooked, as in not one single rubbery calamari ever found. Wait staff is also great.

I had the Piri Piri Chicken which was perfectly cooked at the right temperature and just the right amount of spice. For dessert, try the banana Foster. One of the best desserts I've had in years!
