The northern Inn doesn't look like much on the outside, but you would be surprised when you get inside. The food is really good. It's one of the busiest places in town. The service is good and the breakfasts are the best you can find anywhere. Everything is Priced Right.

American traveler 5 star rating. This is a full on diner with large portions and great food. The home made bread and fresh grilled potatoes with onions are awesome. Don't come if you are in a hurry, the service is a little slower due to the popularity and the charger is friendlier than most and will take a little time... All OK if you have the time.

Pretty speechless. I called from AB to place an order for my Dad's 70th birthday of his favorite food. Not only were they extremely accommodating, also excited, and went above and beyond, the food was amazing so I hear. The odor in the restaurant was deplorable food service is disgusting waitresses had their thumbs on dishes being served to patrons, noticed one waitress carrying 6 bowls of condiments in her hands against her chest with no apron on, also notice that all staff waitresses and cooks did not have hairnets while serving or cooking

Horrendous service. Food is bland. Three of us waited 18 minutes for our table to be cleaned and coffee poured after sitting down. During this time, 3 tables were sat and tended to before us. An additional 26 minute wait to place our breakfast order. On top of that, our bill included a side order we never ordered. The restaurant was at about half capacity on this day. Aside from being popular with locals, there really is no reason to go there.

This is a small & cozy place. Our group of 35 nearly filled the room. The staff was very focused on service and the food was very good! We went for breakfast on a slow work-weekend. I got the Ukranian breakfast. You will leave full and hating yourself. Greasy and delicious. The homemade bread is delicious (must order), and the I was a fan of the pan fried potatoes. This place looks like something out of a bush movie, complete with retro fitted bathrooms. But the staff is polite and take pride in their service.

4.5/5 Best breakfast in town. Go for the homemade bread and grilled potatoes. 3.5/5 Lunch and dinner so far. Fairly standard fare, decent meal. I have not yet had the steak here. You might have a bit of a wait for food during a busy period but I've always had my order, drinks and bill brought promptly.

While up in Thompson for work, someone suggested that we try the Northern Inn for lunch. It was a little busy, but we were able to easily find a seat. It took approximately 15 minutes for our order to be taken. After another 45 minutes, and being late for work, we left hungry. I will never try going back there. I'm very upset that we had to stay late at work to make up for the time that was wasted. I wish there was an option for no stars for this review.
