I just went to Zante's today for the first time in a couple years. Last time I went, I told myself I would not go back there. The service, although friendly, was very slow. The food was not bad, but not great. Also, the price was insanely high for what you get. But, today, I decided I'd give it another try, to see if things had changed, and to my surprise, they did... but not in a good way. The menus have been revamped, and their new layout is even worse than their last. Prices are unclear and childishly written. It took us a while to realize those random numbers beside menu items were actually prices. They're not written "Hamburger.....................$17.99" as usual menus, but instead "Hamburger 18". Thats it. Unclear, childish, and no, that price is not exaggerated. It was pretty much empty when we got in, and by the time we got out it was getting a bit busier. Took a good 10 minutes to get our beverages, then another 10 to order. Had to wait another 20 minutes to get our appetizers, then another 15 for our entrées. Other than the soup, all our food was cold. The cheese on our garlic bread, potato skins and nachos was solid, and the cheese on my mom's pasta tasted foul and made her lose her appetite. I paid an extra 6$ for grilled chicken breast on my nachos, and what I got was a tiny piece of overcooked, dry chicken, which was also cold. My tortilla chips themselves were a little soggy. In the end, we ended up spending an hour and thirty minutes there, mostly waiting, and spending a little over 100$ for two appetizers, two entrées and two soft drinks. That price for the cold, low-quality food we got and the slow service despite the emptiness of the restaurant, is unacceptable. We would've had plenty of reasons to file a complaint or to return our food and get a refund. So, to sum it all up, things indeed have changed at Zante's: even slower service, even lower-quality food, and even higher prices. I am genuinely surprised that this restaurant has not gone out of business yet. If you're looking for a great restaurant in the Temiskaming Shores region, I would recommend Rooster's Bar and Grill, which is located downtown New Liskeard, 5 minute drive from Zante's, or Gilli's Truck Stop and Family Restaurant, not even half a kilometer from Zante's, across the highway. Heck, even McDonald's would be better than Zante's for time, money, and quality. They better get their **** together, or else I'm sure they're going out of business anytime now.

Honestly. The food was absolutely terrible. Boyfriend got a burger and it was completely dry. The lettuce they put in it was half green and half brown. (NASTY) his son got buttermilk chicken and it was terrible. Over cooked and extremely hard. Half the breaded part coated on the chicken was black. I had liver and onions, with Caesar salad and rice. Rice has no flavour what so ever. Salad hardly had sauce on it and three pieces of croutons. The bacon in the salad tasted old as hell. The liver also tasted old. The only thing we enjoyed was our drinks. I am sorry. But our meals were absolutely terrible and we will never eat here again. None of us ate our meal. We left more then half the meal there. It was nasty!

Just no. This place needs Gordan Ramsay! I've tried this restaurant on 3 different occasions now, and figured it's time to leave a review. The food is absolutely terrible. The "truffle" fries are undercooked and extremely oily. I had to take them home and redo them in the oven. The wings- less than mediocre. If you're looking for a culinary experience, this is not it. The staff is also not always the friendliest. I only gave one star because it's impossible to give zero. It's also VERY expensive for what you're given. Small portions and low quality.

Family was visiting, so this afternoon we decided that Zante’s was in our plans. There were five (5) of us. We decided to sit inside. We were led to our table and water appeared instantly. 10 minutes later we were asked if we wanted drinks. We did that and waited another 10 - 15 minutes for our beverage to arrive. A beer, a wine, and 1 Perrier. The beer was not at all as the server had described. Then we were left to review the menu. It took at least 15 minutes for the server to return to take the orders. She left us and from that time it took at least 45 minutes for the food to arrive. When the food arrived, the chips were dark brown and some were burnt. the fries were like wood AND cold. The server made an excuse or more like a question...”my what happened here”. Yet when we left the restaurant so not happy, one couple who had obviously entered after our party were eating dark/burned fries. I must admit after complaining to the server we were not charged for fries. I had sweet potato fries (which were perfect) with a Smokey burger. I took the burger out of the bun and ate the meat on it’s own (my preference). It was tasty but dry, very dry. BTW, the restaurant was empty other than our table of five. There were some people sitting on the patio, but not many, maybe 4 tables. There were two servers working, plus one bartender who helped out periodically. The prices were “high” for the service we received and the condition the food was in. The server did not bring condiments to the table, I had to go ask for some. She also did not check on us through all this, what I like to call a disaster. I was so embarrassed. My family felt sorry for me because I had chosen this restaurant and praised it from an experience of 14 months ago. Something has gone wrong. That restaurant use to have a wonderful menu and the service use to be the best. The prices were acceptable. I noticed that the rating was quite high for Zante’s but sadly our experience was not a good one. No I will never recommend to my friends, nor will I visit again. Sorry!

have gone there several times this year, every time was poor service, and the food very good. my one visit to this establishment was 4 hours at wing night, our table barely got serviced with 1 refill of drinks that entire time, and the food was cold once it got to the table.

I Ordered the maple salmon, however had to ask the waitress for a side of maple syrup, the chef didn't put any glaze on it ! We found the food to be a bit bland. My husband's sausages were overdone/ slightly burnt on one side. The waitress was efficient, but not overly friendly. Good selection of beers.....IF we return, we will stick to the pub side and just get beer and appetizers. But likely we will pick somewhere else.

We'be had the pleasure of going to Zante's for a meal twice now. I don't know why but I keep forgetting it's an option when we go out to eat in New Liskeard. The food is great...menu is large and comprehensive. I think they could get away with less options and still have a lot of choice. We like that they locally source ingredients from the beef and bison to Thornloe cheese. Their burgers are good(homemade) and their pulled pork is excellent too. I appreciate that they have a good selection of craft beer on tap too! Finally...the service is stellar!

Went for lunch on a Sunday. Service was friendly and the staff was very accommodating. This is where the good part ends. I have eaten there a number of times over the years but the place seems to be going downhill. The rugs look like they should have been changed a long time ago. Makes the place looks really dingy. Food was less than stellar and I find $10.00 for a small plate of fries with gravy and three cheese curds a bit steep.Certainly had better poutines.

I was excited to try the poutine as it is gluten free but I was so disappointed. I received uncooked fries that were also burnt, subpar cheese and not enough gravy that was kind of chunky. Definitely don't recommend. Also there was a random pile of junk/garbage in the middle of the restaurant, right by our table, didn't look great.

I brought my partner to Zante's yesterday for her birthday. We were greeted with a smile. Didn't have to wait for a table. Myriam showed great enthusiasm and professionalism. I have celiac disease and a dairy allergy. She was able to recommend a number of options that were VERY appealing- and not just salads! We ordered the chicken thai noodle dish and the coconut curry on rice. Both were very delicious and very generous portions. The only suggestion I have is that (if possible) have at least one brand of gluten-free beer available. The cider was OK. Tasted a bit like bug repellant. Lol. (Glutenburg is the best... tall can LCBO). Thank you everybody for being so friendly and accommodating! We'll be back for sure!!!

It's an easy place to be in good company. If you're a craft beer drinker then order at the bar and chat it up with the bartender because they have a fare collection of crafted beverages. The food is prepared with locally farmed meats, vegetables and few cheeses. If you ask, they'll pare your drinks nicely with your meal. Be sure to ask the staff what they've got going for entertainment. From what I know they've had; Trivia Night #nofilter, Beer and Game Night with Chat Noir, Bingo, live music, Beer and Yoga, and more.

The only positive thing is the one waitress working was working as fast as she could. Read we went there was for a team meal for my son hockey team. The team manager set the reservations. We were told they were short staff so they would take longer. We understood and keep the reservation. When I personally got there my son went to sit with his team mates and the Manger said we had to sit with only our famaily and the kids weren't able to jump tables to talk. We took our seat and one our coach started asking why the kids weren't able to sit together and other things(Out of my ear shot) he left. At that point alot of the other parents were upset due to the kids couldn't socialize then they left. When ordering they were out of most of the food options. We orderd so we took our food to go so our son could play with his friends before bed. When I picked up the food the pizza for the kids were frozen pizzas that were still slightly burnt. Mt wife had a salad. I ask for a clubhouse and they didn't server one so suggested a burger type of club. When eating it it was just a chicken burger. I will not be returning there.

A few of the reviews here are definitely not accurate. First off it took us roughly 2 hours after sitting down before our food arrived. Secondly, quality of the food was mediocre where I suspect the microwave was used in order to "reheat" a few of the food items especially the desserts. The final nail in the coffin was when I went to return said desserts and I was given attitude with no indication of remorse.

Food was "ok" .. fat on my steak was not rendered .. 1/4 of my steak was fat and the thinner part of my steak was undercooked. Gravy for my fries was more of a "juice" for my steak. Ceasar salad had barely any dressing. 12$ sangria whoa .. were in the Tri-town and not downtown Toronto right? Nothing on tap but micro brewery .. bleh. I'm not much for drinking someones beer experiment with my dinner. Waitress was nice but did not come to see how we were doing once. The ketchup bottle was super runny and made a mess everywhere. I had to get another bottle from another table. Really good deep fried pickles and so was my girlfriend's angel hair primavera but definitely not worthy of a 100$ price tag for meal for two. It will be hard to convince me to go back.

This restaurant is amazing! They have plenty of vegan and gluten free options and are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions. The waitress, who is the mother of the owner was so nice and informative to me (who is vegan) and my friend (who has celiac), she even brought out the containers so we could read the ingredients! They certainly went above and beyond and every time I'm in New Liskeard, I will make sure to stop in!

Well I have never been able to say I enjoyed my meal after eating here. After about a year wife and I tried it again, pretty simple order fish and chips with grilled vegetables then chicken parm with garlic loaf and both had a ceaser salad to start. Salad taste awful only had 2 bites wife’s fish was so greasy it was mush fries were ok vegetables were soaked in oil! (Mine) garlic loaf was rock hard sauce was watery and meal was chilled. Very cluttered near front entrance. Bathroom was not very clean but never looked around to much had to pay attention as my shoes were sticking to the floors.

OMGOSH!! My husband had the Smokey Burger ???? absolutely LOVED IT!! I had the Summer Truffle Mushroom Melt, took me an hour to eat. Big, tasty, fabulous & worth every penny!! We are staying @ the Quality Inn. 2 minutes away, must TRY!!! Staff pleasant & above for service!! When we come back, they WILL BE on our list of PLACES to eat!!! Fabulous!!!

Absolutely amazing service, Shelly was a huge help and informed us with ease about the gluten free options. Both my son and I are gluten intolerant and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. My husband ordered the fish and chips with a side ceasar salad. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast with rice and veggies and a side garden salad (balsamic dressing was amazing!) My son enjoyed one of their in-house made burgers on a gluten free bun. All our food was delicious and steaming hot out of the kitchen. They even have gluten free turtle cheesecake! It was the best ;). Anyways, if you're ever passing through on the 11, this spot hits the spot! Tones of gluten free options which is hard to find sometimes, and much of the food is homemade!

Have been coming for 4 years now, however the last time really put me off. They no longer offer their awesome Greek salad, when asked about it all I got was no changes allowed, to bad, change is tough..... "Change is tough"?????? I ended up ordering the village Greek, paid extra to have lettuce almost 30 bucks for a salad?? I won't be back and I'll advise my traveling colleagues the same. Used to go out of my way to come here, no more.

Went here for dinner while visiting New Liskeard expecting it to be your usual bar & grill, but was pleasantly surprised by the locally-sourced ingredients and curated selection of craft beer. They had one of my ultimate favourite beers from Sawdust City on tap! My goat cheese steak salad was delicious - steak was so tender I didn't even need my steak knife and had a lot of flavour. Boyfriend enjoyed his burger as well and ate in about a minute flat. It also merits mentioning that the server was very friendly and gave us recommendations on where to visit in the area. If our travels ever find us in Northern Ontario again, we will definitely be back!

Amazing hospitality and food. Eat two of three nights we were there for OHF weekend and really impressed.

I contacted Zante's a few months ago privately because I didn't want my complaint to go public in such a small town, but since I could see online that they read my message the same day and chose to ignore my complaint altogether, might as well make it public. I have eaten here about 6 or 7 times in the past 12 months, since being in New Liskeard, and every time I go, the food has been anywhere from "just ok" to flat out tasteless. I'm not a chef and I regularly make much better meals at home (How can anyone screw up something as simple as Bruschetta bread?). They are way overpriced for the quality or consistency of their food, charging Toronto-like prices without reason, and they don't have prices on their beer menu. Imagine ordering one draught of beer and getting a bill for over $15 with no heads up at the time you order your drink. I gave the bill back to the server because I thought she gave me the wrong bill. Apparently there is beer out there worth $15 a pint. All the server said was, "yeah that's an expensive one." I haven't tasted a beer yet worth that much money, and that particular beer sure wasn't worth more than average. Anyway, I haven't been back since that night, because that was kind of the last straw after never having an actual great experience there yet. You would think after half a dozen times going to a restaurant you would be satisfied at least once. Also, you would think that in a small town, the owner would care to reply back to their customers when they contact them upset. Especially when they respectfully do it privately so not to cause an uproar in town. Maybe this is the only way to get a message across, but somehow I feel like they still don't care.

Great food on an outdoor patio and friendly staff. Strawberry daiquiri made with real fruit and the food had a home made taste. Delicious! Super clean too!

Stopped in here for dinner while travelling for work. Server was very friendly. Atmosphere felt a bit "off" for a small-town bar, but it was a Tuesday night and quiet, so maybe just the time of week when I chose to visit. Large patio space for summer dining. Ordered the vindaloo and was quite pleased with it. Very spicy and aromatic. Didn't order any alcohol but saw a good selection of craft beers on the menu - always a plus with me. I'd like to come back and try more of the menu. Hopefully in the summer when I can enjoy the patio space.

Clean nice place but the food needs some work. Had the chicken supreme ... More like cardboard, when you cant tell the difference between the onions, peppers, chicken, or bread... There's something wrong. Good portions and filling, a bit pricy $$$/$$$$$ Friend said his fish was good, trying that next time. The service was OK, the server never checked on us and it's wasn't that busy.

It was a breakfast buffet. I found the sausages to be too well done for my liking causing them to be dry. I am not a great fan of buffets as it seems to be a challenge to keep food warm without drying it out. but all in all it was good food and good service. I have been there before and enjoyed the regular menu.
