Great atmosphere and never a disappointing meal over 3 different visits. Worth the price if you don't get out much (we are new parents) and want quality dining experience. Unsure when they renovated/remodeled but it's very cozy. Great interior design. Location is excellent for those coming from South or West of the city and want to avoid the notoriously terrible Kingsway/LaSalle areas. Get the calamari!

Main dishes are generously portioned and wait service is excellent! can't wait to explore the starters next visit! The only sub par part of the experience: Dessert and coffee! I've been to Ripe many times since moving from Toronto; it's like one of the Yonge & Eglinton pasta & wine bars was transported to Sudbury. It benefits from a creative menu, nice woodfired pizza oven, generally great service, and an owner (Marc) who genuinely cares for his clientele. For example, last night we presented a coupon for a free kid's pizza at the start of our order and enjoyed a great meal. When the bill came, we paid and took off quickly because said child was very tired, and didn't notice that the coupon hadn't been applied. Marc (somehow) remembered my name, tracked down my email address, and sent me an email apologizing for the oversight and promising to make it up to us... completely unprompted. How awesome is that?

I love this restaurant!! I've been here once in person, and ordered twice. Their staff on the phone and in person are SO friendly. Their pasta is to die for. My favorite is the chicken Tuscana in the white wine sauce. We tried their pizza latest, the White Wizard, and it was delicious. The food is a little on the higher end (except maybe the pizza, if split between two, I found to be reasonably priced) but SO worth it. If you have a little extra money and room the Chocolate oblivion cake is absolutely to die for!! Once restaurants open up again I definitely recommend a visit, the interior is gorgeous.

Food and atmosphere were excellent. However whom ever takes reservations is always rude and doesn't give accurate information. We had asked about whether a certain allergy can be taken care of, and without asking the kitchen she said no. When we were at Ripe we asked our server, who went to the kitchen and asked the cooks, they said there wouldn't be any problem and they would take utmost care. A second incident with this person we tried making a reservation for Valentine's day a couple of weeks in advance, she said they don't do reservations in advance and we would have to call the day of to see if a table is available. We called the day of only to be told what only had a couple of options in the evening closer to closing and was told we should have booked in advance...

It was one of the best meals of my life. After a long, arduous campaign of wedding planning (the casualties could not be counted, may their souls find peace), my fiancé and I decided to celebrate (recover) with a proper date. Normally we can't make decisions, but that day it was as if the ghosts of our ancestors guided our drive down the Kingsway. "Ripe Restaurant" they commanded. Weary and shell-shocked, we stumbled into the door. Gently, we were guided to a quiet table and the healing began. We shared a starter of heirloom tomatoes, hearty toast, and a smooth, sweet ricotta. Every bite was like another distant relative sending a sincere apology, but "we cannot make your wedding, here's a wad of cash in our stead". It was everything we wanted, but didn't know how to ask for. When our mains arrived, I swear I saw the light of life return to the eyes of my beloved. A perfect pizza was placed in front of her. The glistening of the cheese matched the tears of joy in her eyes. I had the mushroom gnocchi and it changed me. Each piece of beautiful, pillowy, potato pasta stirred my soul. My fiancé, who does not like mushrooms, bacon, or cream sauces, would have eaten the mushroom, bacon, cream sauce on my gnocchi like soup had I not defended it. All through the night the server apologized for being new, but there was nothing to apologize for. She was a server in whom no fault could be found. After a week of ruthlessly cutting out aunts, uncles, and I swear even grandparents should they not hold their tongues, we nearly invited her to the wedding. We even said yes to dessert (as children of frugal parents, this went against every ethos and edict instilled in us by generations of family, but hey, it was that kind of week). As the night wound down, the owner came to our table. "How was everything?" How do you tell someone you've never met that they have fixed you...that they have taken all the angst and conflict and struggle in your life and replaced it with food and warmth and love? "Really great, thanks." It wasn't enough, but what could we say that would be. To summarize, my fiancé and I had the best meal of our Sudbury lives here at Ripe. I can't stop talking about it. I won't stop talking about it. Until we eat again, it was really great. Thanks.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing dinner here for our latest date night! Wonderful atmosphere and our waitress was awesome. The white wine sangria was the most refreshing I’ve had and the calamari was tasty! I had the lobster and shrimp risotto which was delicious. Ripe is a great restaurant. Their food is quite good, and the service is friendly and attentive. The only true complaint I have about this location is that the quality of the main courses has been a bit inconsistent each time I've gone there. A few times I've not been a fan of what I was served, even if I had enjoyed it the last time. If they could iron out this consistency issue, it'd easily be my favourite restaurant in Sudbury.

Overpriced for the quality of food. For example, they charge $16 for a 4oz beef sandwich with sliced bread and a small side Cesar salad. The bread was too weak to allow for proper bites of beef. The full strip was coming out. Their pizzas are not bad but not as good as Digusto's.

I can't believe we didn't find Ripe until our last day in Sudbury. We're here on business from Toronto and found this place by driving by to our hotel. Our client said good things so we have it a try. We started with the Arancini as an appetizer. It was great. I asked for extra sauce because I enjoy sauce. That was quickly brought over with a smile. For our mains, my wife and I shared a spring pepper risotto and their version of a margherita pizza (The Filetti Pizza). The risotto was seriously incredible. Pizza was good too (but as I said above I do like sauce - this one didn't have a base layer sauce- but you know what- it was excellent and I loved it). We also ordered the green beans made with butter and bacon. More please :) An order of home made Key Lime Cheesecake made things just unforgettable. We'll be back on our next trip! Thank you

First time trying ripe yesterday and was not a great experience. The server ignored us for most of our meal, and my pasta did not taste okay so I had one bite and but it aside. When asked how our meal was, I told them it did not taste right, and was told that they were sorry I felt that way, and I still had to pay the 30$ for it. When visiting Sudbury for work, I make a point to eat at Ripe. Service is usually excellent. The decor is modern trimmed in wood and the food is excellent. It’s a good place to enjoy a local brewed beer from Manitoulin or Muskoka breweries while waiting for a fresh baked specialty pizza. The goat cheese salad is good with changing fruit or additions added during the season.

I am in Sudbury on business and I stopped in to grab something to eat before a flight. I had their Prosciutto pizza and I cannot say enough good things about it. It was very well made, the crust was light, the tomato sauce tasted fresh although it is hard to say if it was homemade or out of a can but I am leaning towards homemade. Service and decor was great. Overall a good experience and I highly recommend it.

I was working in Sudbury and someone referred me to this place. I had the maple bacon pasta which was absolutely fantastic and one of the more original dishes I've tried at one-off, family run restaurants like this one. And the sugar pie was to die for! The only thing was that it was a little expensive. Nevertheless, definitely worth the money!

We were heading back from a week long trip in Montrèal. We stopped here while stating in town for the night. This was, by far, the best overall menu we saw on the whole trip-compared to all of the fine dining we did in Montrèal! There were so many interesting dishes to choose from, it was hard to decide! My leg of lamb risotto was amazing. The drink menu was very interesting as well. I will be going back if we are ever up this way again.

The portion size is small and the prices a bit high for the five or more different meals we have had there over the last year. The food is good, they serve their tea most appropriately and the service has always been perfect. An interesting decor, but not engaging or worth the visit. A good place for lunch, although do pay attention to their hours because I think they have varied over the last few years and we have driven there in mid-afternoon only to find it closed until later in the day. A somewhat unique menu, but I agree that the pizzas could be better. They don't seem to agree with my philosophy regarding pizzas and pastas that each bite should be a combination of the toppings you order, as opposed to plopping large pieces of the vegetables and meat on top. Otherwise, a fine restaurant and worth a visit.

Had a delicious dinner. Service was quick and the waitress (Tori) was friendly and helpful. The food is SO good. My partner's steak was spot on and his mashed potatoes were melt-in-your-mouth. My chicken was flavourful and moist and the salads were fresh. Dessert was sublime. The creme brulee and the triple chocolate oblivion are some of the best desserts we've had. Would definitely recommend.

Incredible food. Simple menu that focuses on a few really good options. Staff was attentive and friendly. The restaurant itself looks great. Nice place to take a date for a romantic dinner. One of my favorite local restaurant. Bring money though...it isn't cheap.

Very good food, nice atmosphere, great for family get togethers. The burger was excellent. I'm not into sweet bacon so pulled that off, but the patties are made with real meat and delicious. Brie on a skittle, prepare to order a second one of those, haha. Very friendly service, thank you! ????????????

The pizzas here are stellar, and come with a range of toppings you won't likely find elsewhere in the city (procuitto, walnut & goat cheese, spinach, etc.). Pastas are top notch, with house made sauces full of flavour. Desserts are rich enough to share between two to three people. Service is quick, and always with a smile. thanks
