This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Steak house.
Ate on the patio. The staff is lovely, and I hd the best crispy chicken sandwich I've ever had. This is definitely a steak place, so I was very pleased that they put time and effort into non-steak dishes as I'm not really a steak fan. There was plenty of handsanitizer available which was nice.
We ordered the Yorkies for an appetizer and then each ordered thr sirloin with shrimp. Both also got loaded potatoes. Cooking the steak on the stone made for some interactive fun, thou this did get old after a bit. The stone lost a good amount of its heat quickly. We were told by a server at another place to get the garlic butter to cook your steak with and I glad we did. The steak would have been kind bland without it. Not searing the steak, creating that crush, you do lose a good amount of flavor.
OMGG!!! THIS IS THE BEST STEAKHOUSE I'VE BEEN TO !! SHOW ME A BETTER STEAKHOUSE IN SUDBURY I WILL WAIT... (I'm pretty sure you'll never find one ????) Right From the Appetizers to the dessert everything was on point ???? The steak on the stone is undoubtedly the best way to have your steak!! It was so good!! Must try!! The Desserts here are mind-blowing!! Trust me it's so heavenly that you'll be out of words when you dig into their Creme Brulee or Xango Cheesecake. Once you visit this place you'll still be mesmerizing when you get back home from there!! THE SERVICE STAFF ARE SO SWEET❤️ If you are in Sudbury and you are looking for a place to dine in, THIS IS THE BEST PLACE YOU CAN EVER GO!!
Great Food, Excellent Friendly service from the waitress. Definitely would dine here again.
Amazing staff and perfect meal
Great service, great menu, great food! I highly recommend!!
Great dinner with good friends Food was perfect, service was good too
Not a fan of cooking your own steak on a hot rock but everything else is great.
Very unique dining experience! The staff was wonderful, and very helpful. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone
Dinner
Absolutely loved the steak cooked on the stone slab. Amazing amazing experience. Friendly staff and good service.
Omg the food was so so good. We both had the steak on a stone, I can’t say enough about how delicious it was. I was a little nervous that I would be “cooking it myself” but our amazing waiter, Brad, put me at ease and explained that it was super easy and pretty much impossible to mess up. Presentation was also beautiful with everything. It was a little expensive, but totally worth it for a special celebration. Overall, great food and service. Thank you Brad and everyone at Lot 88!
I had the salmon which was fabulous. The thing that really bother me was when the waitress and manager came over 5times to asked how are meal was when we were trying to have conversation.I will go again and I,m hoping that won’t happen again because the meal was fabulous like I said.
Had an amazing burger here with afriend, we sat at the bar as the whole place was packed, bartenders were super nice and accommodating, and the one bartender made me one of the best old fashioned's that I've ever had, great time, great atmosphere. 5 stars.
This is an amazing place to eat meat. The place has stones for cooking your own steak. Friendly staffs and nice patio to enjoy summer days. For desert we ate a good chocolate cake!
Service
I love the concept of this place! You get to cook your own steak on a hot stone and it's soo delicious. All the food here is quality ????
Let me start of off by saying I came for lunch and this was my first time here and the waitress welcomed me for the first time. She was really personable, polite and on it. It was half price for appetizers day! I got the mini Yorkies.{they are to die for delicious! ????☺️} I got the steak sandwich with fries, the fries had really good seasoning the gravy was nice and dark and the steak sandwich was good. I definitely go again
Great steak. Great concept with the lava rock. Great service. Friendly staff. This was my first visit and it was an all round great experience. If you like the Keg you will absolutely love Lot 88.
Great atmosphere. I had the lobster and artichoke dip to start and it was absolutely amazing I recommend it to everyone to try. For my main I had shrimp and steak on the stone. No complaints at all overall a must see.
I am in Sudbury for a family reunion and to meet my birth family. We went to Lot88 having never even heard of this restaurant and was very happy I did! Our waitress Jody was exceptional with her knowledge of the menu and sparkling personality. Even the manager Krista came by and made the experience even better if that was possible. The steak was the best I've ever had... And I know steak. This is a must visit if you're in Sudbury!!! And Jody, if you see this the wine I was telling you about is Chateau Les Ormes Saint-Julien, 2010. ????
Meh....The placed was full so they brought us to the bar to wait. Hmmm no stools to sit?? So we stood there in peoples way for 25 minutes as they walked by and bumped us. We we're seated in the busiest and loudest section of the restaurant. Table and seating was very comfortable. Makes spending a few hours there enjoyable. Drinks we're an insane price! A draft and a glass of red wine, was $22. The waitress was good. She had a sense of humour and was helpful but not going out of her way to make it awesome. The food was average. My onion soup was not hot or cold. I like stuff hot so that was a bit disappointing. I had the lot 88 burger and it was average. Again, the food was warm at best and not nice and hot. It was sitting under a lamp for a bit I'm sure. Wedge salad and the dressing was awesome. Nice and fresh and crunchy. My wife LOVED her lobster bisque soup and her pasta dish was also yummy. Lobster artichoke dip with chips and bread is a must. All and all, it was acceptable. Would I go back?? Probably not. Maybe had the place not been so busy it would have been better. The whole standing up for 25 minutes really lays out your attitude for the rest of the evening. PLEASE invest in more bar stools! oh....parking is a disaster when it's busy. Drove around the lot 4 times before parking at another location and walking there.
A unique eating experience with the steaks served on heated stones. Steaks were very tender, vegetables were sufficient and tasty, wine selection was also very good and our server - Jodie was super. I would recommend Lot 88 for your future dining experiences.
Had a reso and waited 45 mins just to be turn away from table for 35 ,no prob but no apologies or discount or apps or sorry. Food is good but service and the lack of concern of the fact we had a reso and no apologies gave it a 2 star.
We tried this place for the first time last Friday and it was one of the worst dining experiences that we've ever had. First off, the Ceasar drinks were $11 each since they automatically bring you a double if you don't specify otherwise, and they came very watered down. We had to send them back and get new ones made, and even the waitress made a comment about how they didn't look right when she was bringing them over, but she decided to bring them anyways apparently? Secondly, I ordered chicken and ribs with fries. The chicken was ok but the fries had to be sent back cause they were rock hard in the middle, so not cooked throughout, and the ribs tasted like they had been in the fridge for a very long time before they were reheated and served to me. They were lukewarm in the middle at best, and tasted awful, almost like the meat was past its prime, or they had just been in the fridge for a few days. They were the worst ribs I've ever tasted in my life, and my husband and brother also tried them and agreed with me. The manager came over to apologize and offered to make me a new plate but I declined as we had somewhere to be. She took 50% off the price of my plate which was fine. I asked her if the ribs were made fresh and she said yes, but after more talk between us, she admitted that they cook them in advance and then refrigerate them during the day and then heat them up per order. They even charge more than the keg for the same plate ($29) which is ridiculous. Overall, this was a terrible dining experience and we will not return.
Yup, it's great. The apps and drink and good. The service is great. The meat is awesome and I mean if it's not cooked right that's on you so I love it.
Service was spot on, no delays in food delivery and very accommodating. Food was phenomenal with a very unique presentation. Will be going back for sure.
Friendly staff and a great steak on a lava rock. Got to try it. Each bite is nice and hot and cooked with the onions. de-lish
Love this place and so will you unless you've laterally never cooked before..like anything lol..if you can boil water then you can figure this out and every bite is exactly how you want it since you cook it yourself and HOT till the very last bite..loved it going back soon..very soon
Ive gone 5 times since they have opened and always had great service, great food and I really enjoy the atmosphere. Nicely decorated with a variety of seating areas. I recommend the hot stone.
Perfect steak, reasonable price
Wow, I had the 10 Oz Peppercorn steak on the stone. AMAZING, and that sauce!!! Good service, everyone's meal was great and the few deserts didn't last long in our group. Highly recommended.
First time ever at Lot 88 and it was an awesome experience. The food was great, cooking your own steak is mint. The best part of the evening was our server Jodie. Ive never had a waitress so attentive and informative. Every suggestion she made was excellent, didn't push anything, was the most attentive server I've ever seen and she was hilarious. The place was packed but she always had time to come see us. Never had a second without a drink, never had a bad interaction with our server and empty plates did not sit on the table for more than seconds. She didn't even look at the bill to see if we tipped (but we did, as she really deserved it). I don't even know of I'm recommending the server or the restaurant (lol). The ambiance was good, the lighting was dark at first but grew on us. I really recommend eating at this restaurant and if you can, ask for Jodie's section. Congrats Lot 88, my girlfriend and I have a new favorite restaurant.
Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Food was very good with large portions and plenty of it.
Honestly, of the 3 times I went each time was a disaster. Overcooked scallops, fish didn't taste fresh, lamb portion was more like a couple lollipops, pad thai was mush, brie was way too sweet all you tasted was oil and fruit, dirt in my drink and next one they brought had lipstick marks.... not fine dinning at all.
Gotta try the stone steak!! Awesome food and a modern atmosphere.
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, YES! Here's my story. My wife and I went to Lot 88 in December. Now, I've bee to my share of steak houses, and I cook a lot of steak myself in the summertime on the grill, so I know my stuff. While pouring over the menu, I saw right away my litmus test to determine how good of a restaurant I'm at: their signature burger. So, I ordered that and a pint of Barking Squirrel (bonus points for having it on tap right there!). My wife ended up getting talked into a steak with a hot stone. When our food arrived, I had an awesome looking burger, and she had a steak, seared, and a very hot stone all on a platter. She cut a piece of her steak, and placed it on the hot stone, and her eyes went wide. It was AMAZING she said. I had a bit of my burger, and it was definitely a quality piece of food. When I tried a bit of my wife's steak however...I instantly regretted not ordering it myself. That was literally the best steak I've ever had a bit of in my entire life. There is literally nothing better. I would give this place six stars if I could.
Out of the blue decided to stop in during my travels, and I must say it absolutely did the trick. The service was was kind, and responsive. I will absolutely be returning here with friends.
Super unique. Great cuts of meat if you are into steak. Great staff. Great atmosphere. A must visit
Amazing food, great taste, reasonable prices...I'm impressed and can't wait to be back. A big thank you to our waitress Helen, it was a perfect experience.
This was my second time at Lot 88, but my first time having a meal on the hot stone. I was hesitant to try it, but thought why not... I love steak and I love eating my food while it’s hot... the stone is perfect for this! Although I found the stone a little small, I managed my NY strip just fine. It was extremely tasty and I absolutely enjoyed it!! Every mouthful was piping hot... I was in heaven. lol. We dined later in the evening so it wasn’t very busy. It was a beautiful night to sit on their patio, but the boss wanted to dine inside. I found the lighting a little low inside the restaurant, but other than that it was very comfortable. If you haven’t already, give it a try... I’m sure you will like it too! Bon appetit.
Plan to spend a whole evening. Don't rush this meal. We ordered our steaks on lava stones. Weren't disappointed. Very expensive very worth it.
It was our first time eating at Lot 88 and everything about it was awesome. We indulged in drinks, dinner and the overall restaurant had a good vibe. We ordered the 20oz Bone in Rib Eye; their specialty and the Surf and Turf. It was one of the best meals we ever had. The meals came with two sides that were also just as good. The experience of cooking the meat and seafood on the hot stone plate gave it a cool feel. We highly recommend the hot stone plates. Although the atmosphere and food was great, the service needs some work. We asked a lot of questions since it was our first time there, and we didn’t get many answers or any recommendations. I can understand from the other reviews why they would be upset, they should make sure new customers know that they have to cook the meat; good thing I’m a good cook. He could have been new, who knows. Our staff experience is part of it so only 4 stars, but we still loved it. I also recommend the martinis.
Hidden gem in Sudbury! This steakhouse is Top 5 in Canada ????...yes compared to Calgary, Toronto, Montreal or any city you want. Lava stone cooked steaks- AWESOME, Staff - Amazing and atmosphere modern cozy for any celebration. Thank you Melissa for a memorable experience!!
I didn’t like cooking the steak on the stone. It was sizzling everywhere. I felt greasy after and hot with all the stones cooking at our table. The food was also very greasy. I got ribeye with mashed potatoes. Tasted okay but would prefer less oily food.
The steak was great...the lava stone is a great touch! Burger was also good as were the potato skins. Great atmosphere as well.
Lot 88 is a great place for a meal. The steaks, seafood, and rack of lamb are all served on +400deg F stone slabs. It's a must try! Your meal will finish cooking at the table. The restaurant is easy to find, and they had lots of free parking. The food and service at Lot 88 deserves five stars. There was no shortage of service at all. The staff presented well and everyone was smiling. Likely because they enjoy working there. So refreshing. Great job Lot88.! We'll see you again.
Arrived at 1145 for a lunch today and ordered a burger and fries at 1155. By 1227 it still had not arrived. During the holiday season one would think the kitchen would be set to handle company lunches and be quicker to cook staples like burgers, especially if you ask your server for a separate bill because you may need to leave before anyone else. I asked the waitress to cancel the order as I would not have time to eat it now. She departed to the kitchen. I went to the bathroom and came back to my food being on the table, it was 1235 (40 minutes for a burger and fries) so our server asked if I wanted it boxed up, I was getting upset (not at the server but at the situation) and didn’t want to make a scene so I paid for it to be boxed up and I left. I would not call it fair prices as a 26 dollar bill before tip for a burger fries gravy and fountain pop seems a bit on the high side. The burger tasted fair but it did not appear to be a preformed patty, if it was house made the mince was too finely grated and/or worked too much which made the burger too dense and almost rubbery, I also had grizzle and a bone chip in mine. Now to be fair I did eat the burger out of a too go container due to the slow service so that may account for some of my disappointment. However I will not be returning to this restaurant primarily due to the slow service especially for the prices.
Food and staff were awesome. Would return
Food was good. Tried the stone steak, it was an interesting presentation but you are essentially cooking your steak at the table. Server was exceptional.
Meal type
Great service, food quality was great. I liked the smaller proportion that I had. Price seemed reasonable. Would visit this establishment again.
This past Saturday my boyfriend, my dad and I went out to celebrate my dad’s birthday by going out to eat at Lot 88 in Sudbury, ON. This was my first and will be my last time ever going there. I have worked in customer service for 8 years now and am usually very understanding because of it, but unfortunately I feel like I need to share my experience so they can grow from this and so people with diet restrictions can visit Lot 88 cautiously in the future. Where do I begin, I ordered two of the Rosé sangrias which tasted nothing like each other and more like two completely separate drinks. We probably waited an hour or an hour and a half for our food to be served and for my order to be served wrong. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli with no shrimp as I am a vegetarian. I have been a vegetarian long enough that when cross-contamination happens, I get deathly ill to the point it’s basically become a food allergy. The waitress repeated no shrimp when I ordered, which myself, my boyfriend and my dad all heard. She apologized saying that she didn’t hear but we all think she just forgot since she was so busy chatting with her friends at another table most of the night. She then asked if I wanted a to-go container which made us feel rushed and like she just wanted us to go so I said yes. When she came back with the container she had a condescending comment about my food having no protein. We were offered 60% off only my pasta dish to compensate for the inconvenience. By the time, my food was remade properly and we had paid it was 2 hours after being seated without me eating a meal. When I got home, I opened my container to see 6 pieces of ravioli that tasted like generic pre-made ravioli that you get at Food Basics or Costco. The only compliment I can give to Lot 88 is that they had clean bathrooms
It is amazing, daughter & I had 8oz steak on a stone, shared a Ceasars salad. Was a great experience, good music/atmosphere. Great food, filling, good prices.
I went to Lot88 for a business dinner. Our steaks were served on a hot stone and it cooks while you eat. Pretty fun experience and you can cook it to whatever doneness you desire. The steaks themselves were very good quality and delicious. As were the sides and added sauce. I'd recommend this restaurant for sure.
This reataurant was fantastic. Our server was so nice and the food was delicious. I strongly recommend the desert nachos! They even gave us hot towels after our meal. We will be going here again.
I had a wonderful dinner tonight at Lot 88. I had the steak and lobster. My server was Helen and she's excellent. I enjoyed cooking my own meat on the hot stone although I'm not sure I would do it again because I like my steak rare and the pieces tended to overcook since I'm not the best chef. The food and service and atmosphere are all overall excellent.
The seared steaks are amazing! A great place to celebrate birthdays with a group! Good food and excellent service!
First time voting there but the surf and turf was delicious.
Very good steakhouse. Menu is fresh and limited which gives you the impression all is made made to order. The flavors are pronounced and portions appropriate. Priced in range for the type of restaurant it is. Dinner for two with a glass of wine will be about 70 to 100.
Was VERY disappointed with their alcohol prices. That was the deal breaker wont be going back. Went for dinner with friends because they bragged about the stone steak dinner. We all ordered and it was "OK" but not worth over $40 each. Four of us had a meal and 2 drinks. The bill was $400 with tip. Garlic Mashed potatoes DID not taste like garlic. The Potatoes tasted like it was sitting in bowl for 1/2 day. Waitress was very polite and kept checking in on us. that was good.
Great place for steak in Sudbury. We had the bone in rib steak and New York strip loin. Opted regular vs their stone grill. Huge Caesar salad that we shared. Super friendly service and great ambiance. Definitely worth a return trip.
Great service and very clean. I had the BLT and it was amazing! Melted cheese on the bun and fresh ingredients. Would definitely recommend
Tried it when they first opened was not impressed went for the second time had a much better experience Food is good but find it a bit pricey for the amount you get and they charge for anything and everything under the sun no kidding even mayo
12 Stars!!! MELISSA Anne helped me create drinks named after my kidz! Ask 4 The Lily, or the Ben10... The Kiki us coming soon... ????????????
Loved the staff, great prices and food is magically delicious!
Beautiful place, the lighting is perfect and the food even more so. I had a rack of lamb that was so delicious brought on a hot stone so I could cook it myself. Amazing. Highly recommend it, plus the waitresses are excellent.
I've eaten there three times now and I've never had a bad meal I love the hot stone and cooking your own steak and seafood on the stone it's makes for a nice relaxing meal.
Great food on Patio, enjoyed the 20 oz bone in ribeye. Because of convid they didn't have lobster tail but overall it was great!
Was impressed with the lava stone cook it your self style presentation
Delicious food! Great place for a fancy night out! Service was amazing food was even better! The nice relaxing atmosphere was definitely a great night out. Loved cooking on the hot stone was an interesting experience!
It was a nice new experience. If you get the steak careful the place is hot, you get to sort of cook it your self on it!
First time eating there! Waitress was excellent, food was amazing! Will definitely be eating there again!
The service was fantastic. The waitress did a great job checking on us and making sure things were good. The food was not on par compared to other high end competitors in town. The chicken was overcooked and the ribs weren't tender. The peanut butter cheesecake was fantastic though.
Ordered a ribeye and received...not sure what steak it was, but it tasted good. Just wasnt what I had ordered,. It was probably a new york. Snce I had already taken a couple bites and I had waited so long, and it was near closing time...blah blah. Lame...Pay attention.
Visited with spouse, we ordered the baked salmon, with fries, I ordered the French Onion soup, and a burger. The food arrived fairly quickly even though it was quite busy. The salmon was cooked just right, The fries were as good as you would get anywhere. The side veggie was asparagus, it was cooked to perfection - still crisp but not crunchy. The soup was a little more salty than I care for but was still really good, The burger was a thing of beauty. The patty was large, well cooked but nice a juicy. it was toped with bacon, a nice spicy mayo, some crispy fried onion strips and topped with a fried egg. Certainly a step up from your basic burger. This burger was far, far superior to the burger I endured at the burger bar whose claim to fame was an appearance on You Gotta Eat Here. Well, in Sudbury, if you want a great gourmet burger, visit Lot88. Not to forget the wait staff, they were very nice, helpful and attentive without being intrusive.
Steaks are served on a lava rock and you get to cook them to your liking. Loved it here and I will definitely be back!
Lava rock steak was excellent. Ribs were ok. Only dessert which stood out was fried banana cheesecake, which happened to be really good. Shrimp and sides were bland and unmemorable. Pricey, around 35 for steak entree. Not sure if I would chose this restaurant over The Keg again.
First time eating here as I am from Kitchener, I'm here visiting family. Our waitress was Paige, she was friendly and more than accommodating when my son wanted cheese on his burger that had already come to the table. Food was delicious, I ordered the Buddha bowl, highly recommend if you like Asian inspired food. They had kids menus which was nice, both my boys loved their meals. Definetly would go back next time we're in town.
Fun restaurant, good food.
Great atmosphere, great food, great service!
Anazing food. Great filet on a stone and lobster tail delicious, mashed potato filled spring roll so good. And the escargot super good. The best food I ever ate Great service. Best wishes to John Law! This restaurant offers the best dining exoerience ever. Nothing compares to Lot 88 and the food they offer on a stone.
Great experience at Lot 88. A true steakhouse which uses a small twist with their lava rock cooking process at your table. Become the author of your own adventure and enjoy the atmosphere.
Absolutely loved this restaurant!! The food was amazing and our waitress was the best. Went there for my birthday. Taking my wife here for her birthday for sure . It's pricey but worth it.
My steak was soooo goood
We tried the steak served on a hot cooking stone. Unbelievable! As promised, every bite was hot and cooked to perfection at the table. Server was extremely knowledgeable and looked after us brilliantly. Finally, the price was extremely reasonable. Under $50 for steak, full meal and a beer. Can't beat it. So glad we couldn't get into the Keg. Will ne a regular stop when we are in Sudbury!
Amazing steak. You have to try stone cooked steak. They bring the steak cooked rare and you cook it yourself at your table on a hot rock. To die for!
Great food, atmosphere & staff 10/10 would recommend. Also, they have great wine!
Delicious, high-end, steak house. The meat was tender and well-seasoned. The sides were nice too. But, the real fun at this place is cooking your own food on the 800 degree stone.
The steaks are delicious but our only experience there will be our last. My wife has some allergies and we made the server aware of that and asked that her steak be brought out plain with no seasoning which she said no problem. My wife started cooking it and eating pieces and about half way through the steak she started to not feel well. She looked at the bottom of the steak on the stone and sure enough there was seasoning. Mentioned it to the server who didn't really seem to care or look sorry that this had happened. Returned home so my wife could take her pills but the rest of the night was ruined as she didn't feel well. Wrote an email to the restaurant and got a call from the owner who was very apologetic and said he'd like us to come back. He was going to investigate and call me back in a few days. I thought ok these things sometimes happen and he is trying to make sure they don't happen again....my concern was more if this happened to a small child or someone with a more severe allergy. IT'S BEEN A MONTH and the OWNER of the restaurant has not called back. Food may be great but if that is how much they care about the customers well being I will never go there again.
Amazing first experience at this establishment. Food was amazing, but the best part was our server Kendra. The best server I’ve had hands down. We were a very large group and she handled it perfectly, spent time with almost each person describing mg and explaining their meal. If I come back I’d try to request her as a server.
Food here is INSANE! awesome concept. Not recommended for the person that doesnt like or know how to cook their steak but if you enjoy a perfect steak this is the spot
To tell you the truth I was very dessapointed to start off with the waitress wasn't on the ball she presented ordered our food we had a couple that was a little late, so she took our order but the food was supposed to arrive only when the couple ordered and would eat all together but she brought our food right away talk about feeling stupid! Then she took forever to order the couples food! And the drinks were very slow on top of it the good was very dessapointing over cooked steak lumpy potatoes and Saugy salad I wouldn't recommend this restaurant
We generally love this place. It was our date night of choice. We went last week n the lamb portion was half the size as before- and they took my BFS favorite fish off the menu. When we asked why my lamb portion was smaller they said it wasn't. I've ordered it 20 x - it was expensive and we left hungry. We won't be returning now.
Great Service. Great communication. Super yummy food. Definitely recommend this place. The wedding went off without a hitch and no complaints. Thank you for helping make this a more memorable event!!
Amazing steak house! To cook your own steak is such a fun interactive concept! All 10 guests loved their dinner and our service was great as well! Best steak spot in Sudbury by far!
Great atmosphere. Food was yummy
Best steak in town. Service, atmosphere, and overall experience is on point. Our favorite local restaurant.
The food was amazing, the wait staff were excellent, and the drinks were well crafted. Unfortunately the restaurant can't decide if it is a sports bar, a pub, or a fine dining establishment. I would go back, but set my expectations to be more in tune with the atmosphere.
Very good experience. Good was amazing and staff were great! The stone plate meals are a must try!!
Love cooking on the stone. We had filet mignon. Perfect. Caesar salad was great.
Ordered some delivery (through SkipTheDishes) from here for dinner. It's a little on the pricier side but it's quite good food. Went for the full three course meal option, with Mussels as an appetizers, the Blackened Avocado Burger for the main course (which came with fries), and a Creme Brule for desert. All three items were good. Even though it was a delivery order the desert was served in a Ramaken, which I guess I can keep. Overall quite pleased with this.
A unique experience with hot stone stake that cooks as you eat it! Delicious.
Had take out of French Onion Soup and the Yorkie appetizers as we were craving French Onion Soup! Delicious!!! I highly recommend this.
Loud place. steak was served more rare the medium rare. Waitress didn't come to the table many times, Fries were cold
OMG! That steak on a stone make a difference! Very good! You can eat the steak cooked the way you like and always hot. Really good place! And thanks to Brad for receiving us really well.
AMAZING !! Our waitress Helen ... wonderful service hun, to the general public look... you had Casey’s, Fion mc cools and now this establishment. Let’s keep this one here yeah ? Great food, fast wait times, good portions and great price.
Food was amazing! We even ordered 2nd plates! Brad was our server and did a fantastic job! WAY better than The Keg, food and service wise.
Really awesome, nice environment and experience to be able to cook your own steak while chatting it up having drinks with a significant other, all the food was super YUMMY, left there with plates clean and belly's full, will definitely go back 100% and 100% recommend you go try.
OMG The stone steak and lobster was incredible!!! I consider myself a meatitarian and WOW this dinner knocked my socks off it was soooooo good. I eat out regularly and I was VERY impressed. Brittany our server was attentive, friendly and amazing at making sure all of our needs were met. Thank you for a great meal Lot 88!!! The next time we come to visit our son at school we will be sure to come out for another delicious satisfying meal!!!! I wish you success Lot 88 and your amazing staff.
Very welcoming atmosphere and staff are very friendly. Went for a date night and the food was great too. The French onion soup was really good however as was the Bailey's cheesecake. Service was very good so kudos to our server (Megan?). We have had supper recently at Ripe and The Keg and the food was really much better for a similar price.
The food and the service is awesome! They have an invitingly warm ambiance. The hot stone steaks are tender, moist and best of all, hot.
Went for lunch today, very slow service, no apologies offered. Will not return as 2 hours for lunch is not acceptable especially when it is very quiet! The food was ok, nothing special however the biggest disappointment for me was that the staff are not trained on food sensitivities and allergies. My colleague who is siliac enquired about their gluten free options. Our server had no clue and asked a colleague. They claimed that the pasta option on the lunch menu was safe. Not! The poor girl returned to the office and was sick like a dog. She called to complain and was told that the staff were not trained and sorry for your experience. The right thing to do would have been to offer a free meal for her and a companion. They missed an opportunity to make a good impression. We were a group of 4 who will share our experience with 4 or more friends who will share with .....not a good start!
Dinner was exceptional, Alexis should be working in the fast food business. The whole experience was underwhelming due to her inexperience.
Staff professional and attentive. Nice menu selection
Whenever I visit Sudbury this is a must visit steakhouse! The cuts are meats are delicious and I always get it on the hot stone, a very cool experience!
Interesting concept, cooking steak on the hot stone but probably not as good as a professionally cooked steak. Good service and nice atmosphere though.
When visiting you NEED to try on the stone cooking. You only get 1 side of veggies unlike this photo but it's more than enough. This is the 7oz filet mignon. Great atmosphere, highly recommend making a reservation so you're not disappointed
Fun concept using the lava rock to cook your own steak.
Great meal, super service enjoyed everything.
Awesome dinning experience! I had the top sirloin with red wine demi-glace, and deep fried mashed potato . The steak is served blue rare ,on a very hot lava stone, and you finish cooking it to your liking one bite at a time. Definetly the best dinning experience I've ever had!
It was an ok experience. Unless you're interested in cooking your own steak, this steakhouse only has 2 boring steak options for you... I found this disappointing. You need to cook your own surf and turf. Sure, some say it's delicious.... But I just didn't feel like it and wanted to focus on the friends and conversations that were being had. Unfortunately, I should have just skipped the steak all together! I ordered my steak medium and it came well done. Huge oversight. Management was great at addressing the issue quickly and very attentively. On the positive side, the wine list is decent and Thursdays apparently is 1/2 price bottles of wine. I was excited about that!
Come sit in our cold damp tent in the rain for the Wednesday wing deal, takeout now not available. I've supported this place throughout the lockdown but will not be going back. I can understand if we were allowed inside but sitting in a parking lot just so they can soak us for a few 10 dollar beers no thanks. Ill hit the doghouse. Greed kills.
Words cannot describe the quality of the food and service. I wish there were more stars to give!
Service and steak excellent. The side vegetables were done to perfection, however the serving size was very small. For the price of the meal.
Had the Calamari and Escargot for appetizers and the surf and turf for my main (with a side of mushrooms). VERY good food and great service. Would definitely go there again and recommend it to others.
Amazingly perfect staff and management. Especially this Kayla. She made are hole week the most amazing ????????????????????????
Went to try an evening.. Completely disgusting and the staff was inadequate and useless to accodomate me with my experience at lot 88.. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant!!!
My husband and I had the steak and shrimp on a stone special last night November 19, 2021. It was above and beyond. To start they make the best ceasars, the steak was so tender and flavourful, the shrimp were delicious, the beets and broccoli were fresh and firm, the the two cheesecakes we had were the best I’ve ever had! This place never disappoints!
I treated myself to a steak dinner for an early Birthday gift. The food was divine, perfectly cooked, just as I ordered. The gal on the phone that took my order was so upbeat and bubbly. So much so, it added to my experience. She is definitely an asset to the restaurant. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great friendly staff, good service and food is always really food and great presentation.
Neet experience cook your own steak on a flat lava stone at you table there were 4 of us everyone was impressed very good food
Restaurant was out of oysters, baileys, certain red wines, and cheesecake on a weekend. Friends of ours shared that they last time they were in that there were mouses running around(has they told us that before we would have never gone!) it took 15 minutes for someone to come serve us once we sat down .... overall terrible experience and no one from our group would ever return.
This restaurant is one of the best in Sudbury and this is the second time I visited and I was not disappointed! I had the lamb on the stone and it was absolutely delicious... scallops were done perfectly the lobster was delicious ... I was also pleased with the vegetables which were all done perfectly and tasty! I was also pleased with the service. Ashley was a fantastic waitress and did amazing to make the somewhat picky crowd of 6 I was with as happy as possible. She didn't rush us and she gave us good recommendations about the new drink menu. I hope to return again soon!
We went for our anniversary and had a spectacular meal. Fresh oysters and a steak so perfect it was heavenly. The server was amazing. We wanted to share the 20 oz steak on a bone, but it was out of stock. The server suggested the 10 oz steak and an extra side and it was a perfect meal for both of us. We will definitely be back time and time again.
If I could give your location more than 5 stars, I would. After a second long day of business travel, I stopped in to the Kingsway location tonight for a much needed glass of red wine and some dinner. Dining solo while traveling isn't always an enjoyable experience so I try to keep my meals short and sweet. Tonight's experience has exceeded my expectations from the moment I phoned to ask if a table for one was available to the moment I was greeted at the door. The young man at the door (I believe he was also the one who took my call) was pleasant and professional and immediately made me feel welcome. Once seated, I was greeted by a very pleasant young woman named who I believe said her name was Leah [If I got that wrong I'm profusely sorry! Masks make it hard to understand these days!] She was so kind, bubbly and welcoming that my usual reservations around solo dining melted away. Leah (?!) checked on me constantly throughout my stay, making small talk, and ensuring I had everything I needed to unwind after my long day of travel. She is an absolute pleasure and a real star at your establishment. I come through Sudbury on a regular basis and will certainly make Lot88 a regular stop thanks to the 5+ star service I received tonight. Thank you so much for a fabulous meal & a great team!
A delicious and unique experience. Steak on the stone was wonderful!
Quite an experience - very delicious - great staff
The steakhouse where one needs to go ... Even if it's In Sudbury!!! You basically cook your steak on a hot plate made of rock: a gabbro for the geologists, and it is hottttt!!! Be warned, you'll want two steaks????
The rack of lamb was amazing and would well recommend. The hot stone cooking was something different too.
Great food, service, price and atmosphere. Very happy the children's menu offered steak, (my kids are tired of chicken fingers), and warm washcloths were a nice touch.
Take out
Great atmosphere, I had the 10 oz NY and It was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Service was great the staff was very kind. Highly recomend!
Loved the service and food! Everything tastes delicious. Highly recommend getting the stone to cook your own meat!
Food is mediocre at best. Service is sub-par. We weren't greeted for at least 15 mins after being seated. More of a bar and grill, not at all a steak house. Will not be going back.
Good food and interesting presentation. Friendly staff.
Steak cooked to perfection however I asked for double veggies for my meal and got 20 pieces of broccoli and 1 piece of pepper. Lol
Our waitress was great as well as some personal tips from the manager about how to cook our lobster tail and replacing the stone because he knew it wouldn't be hot enough for our steak because of the moisture from the lobster tail. Our meal was mouth watering.
Very slow service. We were there for a small family gathering. It took 45 minutes to receive our beverages upon ordering our drinks. Following this, if took 1.5 hours to receive our steaks after ordering. We were there for 3 hours. The food is really good though. I just wish it wasn't such a long wait for everything. The restaurant was not busy at all either.
Great steak the lava rock creates a very interactive dinner experience. Servers are very attentive to your needs and special requests. Overall environment is casual with a touch of class. A good place to relax or have a formal dinner.
Delicious food and great staff. Will return for dinner next time and check out that lava rock steak!
Thank you lot 88 ! Food was fantastic and service was great !!! Daughter and I had a great experience and would HIGHLY Recommended ! Must try the wonton nachos, be prepared to share with the table as this is huge but worth it. Thank you again will definitely be going back !!!!!
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend the stone served steaks
Just awesome! Great tasting steak. Great experience. Not too loud. Booths for up to 6 people. Service was very very good also. Nice people. Only been there once though.
Steak melts like butter sooooo good.
9 of us there for 8:00 , not many patrons left, waitress not friendly at all nor was she attentive as we waited on her several times as it took her a long time to return to our table, she never asked how our meals were and the service took a very long time including the service from the kitchen.Vegetables on all our plates were cold, sauces for steaks tooo salty as was the French onion soup, steaks were tasteless and not very tender. The only good thing was dessert. None off the 9 people attending will ever return!
Ordered $160 worth of food to a hotel we were staying at and they didn’t include any cutlery. We called the restaurant and they wouldn’t take any responsibility even though we clearly requested it.
Picked up ravioli and the seafood fettuccine for dinner tonight. Very good. Got great reviews from my 92-year old mom as well.
Party of 5, and we mostly enjoyed our food. Cooking on the stone was interesting and added a new yet faint flavour to the steak. My wife ordered a steak off the stone and it was delivered burnt. Drinks were mostly ice except for the tap water, soda doesnt get a refill, portions are obviously smaller than competitors... if you add gravy to your single mashed potato scoop that's $2.50. People compare this place to the keg a lot, and I feel the portions are smaller and more expensive at lot 88. The waitress had to repeat herself a few times because of how loud it was, due to the music and people talking over it trying to be heard. I still want to stress how small the portions are, compared to the listed price. We all left and felt hungry and thirsty afterwards. My brothers girlfriend ordered the rack of lamb and she only received 2 ribs, which were mostly bone. WARNING: if you order shots, make sure you pay attention to the bill. We ordered a bunch to celebrate, thinking they would be the advertised $6.75, bill came and they charged us $12 a shot. When we talked to the waitress, she said it happened because our shots were considered titanium level, and we were charged a price not on the menu... a price doubling that of the premium shot. Arguing with the waitress got a refund, so prepare to do the same. This was a one and done experience. cooking on the stone was neat, but it doesnt justify a revisit considering the rest of the experience and its cost.
Great food....great service, pricey but you get what you pay for.
It was great food great service Tina our waitress kind and lovely. The hot stone plates what a whicked take on searing it yourself.
Steak was phenomenal!!! I tried the filet mignon on the lava stone. This stone option is a must! Though there was a decent portion of vegetables, they were nothing special since they just seemed to be the frozen veggie mixes. Though other members of our group had been here previously and had good service, from start to finish our waitress never cracked a smile and barely came to our table, which is disappointing when this is a special night out.
Fantastic chicken sandwiches and lobster soup. Quick, not expensive and a nice clean building.
Food tasted good. The overall experience was okay. I'm not a fan of cooking my own stake. Because I'm not a pro at stake cooking.
Great interior decor. Clean bathroom but could use some help with paper towel holder placement in the upstairs women's bathroom. My césar drink was so iced that it was basically water and vodka. My French onion soup was tasty. A bit cold for my liking. My mahimahi was served on a stone and it overcooked. My suggestion is to offer a Lemon wedge. The creme brule was like not make with anything higher than 10% cream at most. It was gelatin and looked like scrambled eggs. I know it sounds like I'm crapping on the place but for the price point I expected better. My group had steaks and they loved theirs. They also loved the deep fried cheesecakes. They have a nice wine list.
It was a good experience but I wouldn't go again. The steak is like cooking it on a frying pan at home doesn't have that taste of a charcoal grilled steak. Don't get me wrong the meat was high quality and service is top notch it's just missing that grilled flavor.
Too expensive for what it was. Veggie tempura was poorly done. They know the beets don't cook but do nothing to adjust. Veggies were stuck together and some were undercooked. The escargot was like something you'd get at a crappy pub. No garlic butter stuff. Mostly cheese with little flavour. The steak on the cooking thing was ok. Well seasoned but not enough room to really manage your steak well. Maybe if they brought a side plate you put the cooked steak on. We got onions and mushrooms on the side. $6.50 for mushrooms and another $6 for onions. They give you tons of each but it's excessive and honestly wasteful. Mashed potatoes were gooey and not very flavorful. Baked potato was dry. Veggies were over cooked. A big meh of a meal. Service was good. We made a reservation and I asked for the best table and they delivered on that. But for 170 (tip included) we could have had a better meal for less elsewhere.
Having to wait 20min for a table with a 6pm reservation our first experience to Lot 88 was not off to a good start. However, once management was made aware of this problem they addressed it promptly and made strides to rectify it. The food was delicious and our server was very informative. The lava stone concept is awesome.
THIS WAS AMAZING THE SERVICE AMAZING THE FOOD AMAZING YOU NEED TO GO HERE NOW
Solidly good all of the time...we were informed by our server we had a 90 minute limit to stay though...
Overall a good place to go. On the other hand, paying to cook your own steak is an idea that would never work anywhere else.
I had a wonderful on Sunday at Lot 88. I had the steak and lobster on the stone. I got my lobster cooked by the chefs instead. My server was Ashley and she's excellent. She always made sure we had everything we needed. I enjoyed cooking my own meat on the hot stone and really enjoyed my beer. My wife loved the spike watermelon drink Ashley recommended. The food and server and atmosphere are all overall excellent. Thanks again!
Friday night at 6pm was super surprised to get a decent table! I had the mussels which I loved! The waitress Alex should've told us that the virgin pinacolada wasn't blended. I had the Mahi Mahi on the stone and loved it. My wife had the Ribeye, great cut of meat. She likes it med-well, closer to well. It was hard to cook the pieces and still have the cut of meat on the tiny stone. $4 for about a half of a small onion is crazy, $6.50 for the mushrooms was decent. You either get a salad or a starch, not both. I LOVED the lava cake for dessert. Great experience, glad I tried it. But I'd still choose the keg and so would my wife.
Mmm. Do not forget the au jus. I was not impressed with having to cook my own steak. Until I did. It stays warm the whole meal! Server was great. Menu is nice.
This amazing place offered in the Valentine's Day a special Dinner for all their customers. I went there with 04 friends, but the environment was cosy, the staff was amazing and lovely. It was pretty cool!!!! Cheese bread or ceasar salad, New York Stake cooked by your over a extremely hot stone, cooked vegetables and Cream Brulee as dessert, all these items by one price Cad$55,00.
Went there when I became vegan...thanks for altering the salad and giving me edamame. Time for bigger options as vegan is on the uprise.
They have a fun concept with the hot stone at the table cooking method. The sides could have been better. Overall it was a fun experience.
Had an amazing experience at Lot 88! I definitely recommend trying the stone! It was so much fun being able to cook each piece of my steak to my liking! It was so incredibly delicious and the service was fantastic! We also happen to eat there on Thursdays where it was 1.75 oysters and ½ price bottle of wine - how can you say no to that? I will definitely be back again! Thanks for an awesome meal!
A very unique experience!!! A couple of the best steaks we've had served on a hot stone sizzling away as you enjoy it one bit at a time. Excellent food and great service.
Unfortunately I have to give this place a low review. Hunny and I went here for the first time, we had high expectations, but for a place that specializes in meat it was subpar. The menu had more seafood options than steak. Both our steaks was ordered medium rare but both came out raw. We asked to have my wife's re-fried and it came back still blue. The meat was dried without flavor. The only thing that was good was the drinks and the appetizers which came out quickly, not the main course which took awhile.
2 out of 3 of our steaks were wrong. They did take one of them back and made it right, but I decided to eat mine as it was. The vegetables were bland, as was the escargot. Dessert was delicious though. Service was good, but mains came before we were done the appetizers. Waitress was very high-energy.
This is an experience restaurant. Cuts of meat are beautiful. Apps are above average. Sides are average. Service is amazing. Atmosphere is one of the best in Sudbury. Demi glace is a must. Try the lamb on the stone! I will be back. Wonderful time.
I didn't have a steak so I'll preface this review with that fact. I did have the butternut squash ravioli and it was nothing short of mediocre. Small portion, tiny shrimp and pretty average flavour. The restaurant is nice and the atmosphere seemed okay but if nothing else don't get the pasta.
The overall experience was interesting First of all I found the restaurant very dark and very hard to see. I am legally blind and felt there was definitely not enough light. We had the steak and shrimp special which to our surprise was served to us raw and we had to cook it. The waitress although very apologetic neglected to tell us before hand that it was served that way. Although the food was pretty good it was very expensive considering I had to cook it myself. So I have experienced Lot 88 I will not be returning.
Excellent food and service. At first I was hesitant about the concept of basically cooking my own meat at the table on the lava rock but it turns out it is wonderful. Each bite is cooked exactly how you want it, and it stays warm for the entire meal. I encourage everyone to try it at least once.
A very beautiful and modern atmosphere. Service was great and food was overall good. However our group of 8 people really felt that the portions we very small in comparison to other steak houses with a high price point.
Excellent experience. Would definitely go again. Service and food was great.
Had the French onion soup, ribeye and creme brulee. Steak was sizzling for over 10 minutes! Everything was wonderful. Melissa the bartender was so polite and the service was great! Great resturant for sudbury
Very unique and fun place to bring friends. The Lava Rock makes your steak taste so succulent.
It was fantastic. I would call this Sudburys hot spot for grilled steak. The food was fantastic. Even walking into the restaurant you can smell the wonderful aroma in the air. Service was incredible. Will be frequenting this restaurant for sure I the future.
Great service excellent food would definitely go again
Great customer service and awesome atomsphere, excellent place for family and friends, delicious food Personal favourite Xango cream desert
This is a steakhouse. If you order steak cooked on the Lava rock you will not be disappointed. The service is very good, the food is delicious and eating your steak on the Lava Rock, means you steak is always cooked to your satisfaction. Love it! It is a bit expensive, so when I choose to visit this restaurant it is a treat on many levels.
Food was good and atmosphere was cosy. Waitresses/waiters were attentive and efficient. Portion size was just enough. A little pricey though for what you get.
Absolutely amazing staff and food. The steak on the stone was the best steak I've ever eaten melted in my mouth
Great place to eat during the winter months, especially if you're having a hot stone in front of you on a hot summer day! there were six of us, and two of us were having the surf and turf.. one had the lamb chop with a side lobster tail.. And another had a 10 oz New York steak ... Amazing food! But It got hot quick! And some of us were just in t-shirts LOL. I can't imagine going there on a warm day! Other then that... Great service, amazing food, good atmosphere.. maybe I will order a pasta dish or something without the hot rock in front of me next time
Calamari was excellent as was the ravioli. Sent back the steak, second was done right but spicing was lacking. Service was good but the main came just as we finished the appy. Like wine, it should get better with age.
Best staff in the city very welcoming
Fantastic Dinner! ! Loved the Oysters the most!!. Great service....Thanks
Went for lunch. Amazing and reasonably priced! Our waitress Meagan was fabulous made us feel welcomed and safe during these covid days.
