This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Ramen restaurant.
Incredible ramen and service always at the highest quality. A must visit if you love hot noods
One of the best places in town! Would give more stars of I could.
Absolutely amazing and reasonably priced!
It was delicious ????????
Really enjoyed the atmosphere and excellent service at bad bones. The food was great, a personal preference for me would have been if the coleslaw had a little more zing to it. I like the added touch of a deck of playing cards on the table. That was excellent to keep my 9 year old entertained
Food is good. Service is great. The limited menu is understandable and I personally like Changing menu's Only problems come from the atmosphere, it's very small very cramped, and very humid.
Delicious food, fresh ingredients, local beer on tap, reasonably priced. One of my favorite spots in town.
The ramen was very tasty and I loved that I could get a vegan option. Service was a little slow because it was super busy while we were there, however, our server was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful when she did come to take our order. I will definitely be going back to try again in the future.
Loved the Miso Chicken Ramen. The quality of food was really very good and quantity was more than sufficient! Loved it the guys are friendly too! Overall very nice experience.
So good. Massive portions. Price is totally reasonable for what you get. Pictured is the spicy chicken.
Quite possibly the worst bowl of ramen I’ve ever had The stock was a bit too thin in consistency and flavour; the noodles are too thin and yet still undercooked—they didn’t have the same texture as actual ramen noodles. The pork loin, which is a strange choice instead of going with pork shoulder, was not braised enough and chewy. There is no tare and not enough oil in the soup and it came with bean sprouts, crudely cut lettuce, undercooked oyster mushrooms, and an overcooked egg. Also, the server forgot my beer. I wanted to like this place. It’s cool to see young people doing things in a place like St. John’s, but everything that could’ve gone wrong, did. I was hoping to be proven wrong, but yet I left disappointed.
I haven’t had that good of a ramen in a while! The veggies were fresh, the miso broth (which they make themselves!) super tasty, the portion was generous... AND they have gluten-free noodles folks!!! ???? Don’t know about you, but I’ll definitely visit this place again!
Hands down the best place to eat in St John's. Very good prices and big portions. It is a very small restaurant tho probably seats 10 or so people but the food is amazing. You have to try it
Delicious Ramen, great flavourful broth.
The menu was small but the choices were excellent. I had the shrimp miso and it was super tasty. The portions were more than you could finish in one sitting...we all had to use takeout containers. Decent prices and excellent service topped it all off. I will be returning!!
Super friendly staff - deadly options, fresh ingridents, cold beer. What more do you need?!
The staff here are awesome. Super friendly and accommodating. The wall art is hilarious. They also have local beer on tap. However, the restaurant is super small and cramped. The wait to get seated and to get your food can be quite long. That would all be fine and dandy except that the soup base is mediocre at best.
A great meal for a fair price. The spice in the air and the heat in the room is almost enough to make you cry, but it makes the fresh salt air outside all the more enjoyable.
Ate here twice in three days on a seven day stay. Amazing.
It seems like these people try but have a lot to learn about creating an eating experience. Cute casual cafe interior but seated facing a white wall with tacky black marker design lacks appeal and warmth. Beer, wine and alcohol selection is poor and limited. Only lager, no cider, no bourbon and out of red wine on Friday night. The only menu is on a chalk board with visibility blocked from drop lights, posts and well.. if you sat at that wall you would need to stand up and move to see as well. You can self serve tea from a small carafe if you want to get up ten times as the cups hold about 1/4 cup. Tea was empty after one refill. The Brussels sprouts were good according to my husband but since the chalkboard menu had no mention of the pork that came in it (which I do not eat) I could not try them. The ‘wait staff’ were very nice and friendly but lacked skills. They realized I don’t eat pork (as indicated by the wide eyed oh-no expression on one of their faces) when I double checked there would be no pork in the chicken miso, but they did not offer to replace it without pork knowing it was recently served to us or even ask how the food was at all! The ramen was so disappointing. My husband’s shrimp miso ramen was steaming and my chicken miso was like warm. The broth was so so and the noodles were awful. It doesn’t even come with egg and again.. the chalkboard menu says nothing about what comes in it but photos online have egg. I guess they ordered an add on. I had to ask for mine to be their back in the pot to come out hot and on return the bowl came out hotter than the broth. The last straw for me was a gross grizzled price of chicken I had to spit out. Poor experience all around.
The pork shoyu was just ok. The broth and noodles could be better. The tempura veggies were very good. Service was very good and friendly.
Love bad bones, great food, great music, great service!
Yummy Food.
Great food, more than fair prices, extremely friendly service. Slight differences between lunch and supper menu offerings. Takeout availible. Not ideal for large groups as only counter seating is available. Not wheelchair accessible.
Delicious food! Great service!
Friendly service and decent food! I personally think it's a little overdone with the spices to the point that it tastes kind of bland.(less is more). The venue is a bit small and unique so if you want to sit down and eat you got to get there at least 5-10 minutes before they open since there isn't too many spots to sit. Overall it was a good food experience and I recommend trying it at least once!
A new addition to St. John's restaurant scene and a very much welcomed one. Bad Bones Ramen sets the bar for service and quality of food served in a bowl. One of the best bang for your buck places downtown.
Great food/staff, interesting seating that makes for a unique experience
Fried chicken curry ramen was top notch
The food here is good but the menu leaves a lot to be desired. It's pretty expensive so I didn't recommend it as a daily thing. They didn't get my order correct but that may have been a one-off. I don't plan on going back but that's more to do with the price and customer service than the quality of food. If you're looking for some ramen in the city, I'd certainly recommend this place. Just make sure to get a receipt so you can get everything you ordered if they forget to give you something. Second time: Waited an hour to get served and the bowl was mostly broth. The was little to no noodle or chicken in my Spicy Chicken Miso. I tried to give this place another shot but this was pretty poor. I will say that the food tastes like it has a lot of potential but I have yet to have a good experience. Third time: I was really sick and wanted some chicken noodle soup. This restaurant has the closest thing to chicken noodle soup in the area. There was enough chicken and noodles to make it worth the price. This was the best experience I've had here. I left feeling fill. Looks like I may be coming back again soon.
Get the pork shoyu. So good
Amazing!!
Amazing it was worth a 3 hour drive
Small space, but quick turn around means you don't have to wait long for a spot
Disappointing, had better
Wicked good.
Amazing place for Ramen and Beer
Taste different but still good ramen. Nice customer service. Dont know about soyu ramen, but tantanmen is great 1st pic -tantanmen 2nd pic - pork belly soyu
Delicious food and friendly staff. First time there and we really enjoyed it. Didn't like the wait for a table and they don't take reservations. However the food was worth the wait!
Worth the wait! I had the pork shoyu. Enjoyed the perfectly cooked pork belly and one of the best eggs I've ever had. Energetic atmosphere, limited seating, nice green tea w/ roasted brown rice in self-serve carafes.
Food is fantastic. Can be slow wait times, but that's to be expected in such a small spot.
Great experience, food was delish!
Service
Great experience! Chicken Shoyu and Pork Belly Shoyu were both great. Serve yourself water and tea is both neat and convenient. $3 for cans of Soda not dressed up in a glass or with ice is a bit much. Overall, great for a little treat
The ramen that they make is actually really good for what it is but it isn't real authentic Japanese/asian ramen or food more like westernized version of it that and the place plays it role real well serving local clientele with the available ingiedients that is available here and being the only available ramen restaurant . That being said come and give this place a try you won't be disappointed.
Delicious!
Love this spot! Had their spicy chicken raman on a slightly brisk day, tossed in an extra chili and some hot sauce, and it was so damn good. The broth is on point. Definitely making this a regular spot to go to when in the area. Price is very reasonable.
Went there 2-3 times so far, GREAT food and some fun soda selections me and the boys shared for a bit. The spruce soda was a great option there and the dirty chicken miso was beyond delicious. 5/5 for me, but one of the waitresses ran after me for like 5 minutes after I'd forgotten a bag with a bunch of just bought items to me halfway across town. Great wait staff there!
Very tasty, and reasonable.
They serve some good ramen. Their pork belly shoyu is superb. Love their ambiance and cleanliness of the restaurant is admirable.
Noodles
Delicious ramen but rather pricey compared to authentic. Modernization of foods apparently means smaller portions and increased cost. Regardless, still recommend it at least once.
Delicious food!
Super friendly staff and great food! Will be back
Amazing
Really good ramen restaurant with great service. ( Although their ramen soup is a little bit salty for me)
Best Ramen in St.John's. The Chicken Miso never fails to impress. Service is not lightning fast, but the atmosphere is chill and staff are friendly. I hope they are here for years to come.
Good ramens! Filling and tasty. The only negative thing, is the seatings because they don't have much sapce. You can also take out.
One of the best things that I've ever eaten!
Genuinely delicious ramen here severed by friendly staff. There are many excellent ramen options, and the portion sizes are perfect. I'd recommend ordering take-out though, as eating in the restaurant is very frustrating due to the cramped space, so people will be bumping you passing by to grab their order, and those waiting on their order will be standing behind you looking over your shoulder while you eat. Edit: The restaurant has since moved to a larger location a few doors down from the old location with more seating. Huge improvement!
Small ramen joint with a quirky punk rock vibe. Stopped in here randomly and was delightfully surprised. Large portions of tasty ramen that will warm the cockles of your heart on a cold St. John’s day. Had pork shoyu, which was excellent, accompanied by a Quidi Vidi Fogtown lager that they had on draft.
Fast, friendly and delicious!
The food here is so good, and reasonably priced. We had Rad Thai - so delicious!!
(Translated) Great tantan men and pork belly shoyu (Original) Great tantan men and porkbelly shoyu
Lunch
Quality of the food here is top notch, however expect a wait if its busy!
Wow. First time I tried this place the other day I was blown away. Modest price for a massive bowl or chicken curry ramen (yes that's a thing) and it was mind-blowingly good! Highly recommend. The decor is very fitting, the noodle face wall is kind of creepy and the service was pretty good for a lunch.
Friendly staff, fast service, delicious food!!
Tastes good
Great ramen. Menu changes often, it seems. Has always been great, though hard to get a seat. Take out seems like a good choice.
Delicious! My son and i arrived a few minutes before 6 (when it opens) and had to wait a few minutes to get in. By the time we ordered there was a line of 10 people behind us but we we're lucky enough to get a seat. We had the pork belly and chicken, both were great... actually better than great and I would go again; and not just because it's the only ramen in town.
Delicious! Had the miso ramen and it was delightful. The yolk in my egg was a little bit runny instead of jammy but still delicious ????
Great noodle house!
Best ramen in town! Go! They now have a better space as well.
Don't come here if you want to experience something close to a real bowl of ramen. What is known as ramen around the world is not what Bad Bones serves, and it's a shame that I came here anticipating something close to it. The broth had very little depth, the veggies were atypical for ramen (and not in a flavourful way, unfortunately), and the noodles weren't particularly great either (I remember them feeling overcooked and lacking texture). This is not to mention the fact that it took a very long time to receive my bowl (about 40 minutes) after ordering, even though ramen is traditionally quick food. I appreciate the business owners trying to do something different in St. John's, but I would much rather they try to make ramen in a more authentic manner or change their name. As someone who has Japanese heritage, I genuinely feel that the word "ramen" is being misrepresented by this business, and in a way that does not honour its significance to Japanese people.
Very small restaurant with only bar seating. I went here with my parents at lunch time and all three of us found the seating uncomfortable for various reasons. The stools have no backs and if you're short, you understand how uncomfortable it is to dangle. There were only three ramen flavour choices including a veggie, cold shrimp, and spicy chicken option. I would have liked to see a warm shrimp, or basic chicken ramen for people who don't like spice. We all chose the spicy chicken and it was great, good big bowl with veggies and chicken and I would recommend it to anyone downtown looking for a nice healthy meal. I would have liked something crunchy as a side dish, but nothing like that was available to order. Water and a few cold tea drinks are free with your order, but the mango ginger tea I tried had no flavour. I would have like to see a drinks menu too, because there wasn't one there for soda or spirits. When I asked what they had to drink the cashier just pointed to a few bottles of soda on the counter as if that told me all I needed to know, she never mentioned alcohol or prices. 3.5/5 I probably won't go back until they have a takeout option.
Best ramen ever and ive been to a lot of them lol!
First time trying ramen, & already one of my favorite restaurants. The food is fresh & absolutely delicious. Staff is very friendly & service is fast but comfortable:) Bad Bones itself has a unique & extremely inviting aesthetic, 100% would & will recommend to anybody/everybody! Also, if you have never eaten ramen, do it... & start at Bad Bones, you will not be disappointed!
So good
Excellent food!!!
Friendly staff, clean and bright, decent broth.
Don't recommended, really poor customer service
Very salty and expensive, not even enough to eat
Best ramen in town. The menu changes fairly often but they keep the staples. Have the pork belly if you can. They are always packed but worth the wait, or arriving before it opens to stand in line.
Incredible food at a great price and fantastic service. The best ramen game around for miles! They love what they do and you see it in every step of the work, from prep and taste to presentation. Cannot recommend enough.
Great food. Staff were helpful in understanding the menu.
Delicious as always.
Good food, healthy and delish
Delicious! Very tasty. No spice in the regular pork belly ramen, so ask for it if you want some.
Loves it
Very solid Ramen.
Great food and kind staff!
Delicious!!????
Don't think I've ever had a bad bowl. Great service and the noods are oh so tasty ????????
Had an amazing dinner at Bad Bones. Ramen as it should be. A good ramen shop isn’t just dumping a load of soy sauce or miso into the ramen simply to have done with it. It is the art and finesse when you have the umami, sweetness, sourness, or spiciness married together to bring your soul one step closer to everything that is divine and that is what this new place in town delivers. What enhances the experience is the pure joy and warmth shared by the staff. Thank you for explaining us the subtlety in the art of ramen and the sheer joy with which you share your art Adam. If you find yourself blown to pieces on this coast, remember there is this place which can bring joy and warmth to your battered soul..
used to be my favorite place to have weekday dinner, almost go twice a week ,but things change when every one order take out, starving and waiting for entire hour(or maybe more),nobody in the room have noodles or even side dishes, and the menu stay the same for really long time. the food quality is not good anymore, use to have spicy chicken with very thick and flavorful base plus fresh veggies and now is like water and tasteless.
Great service and spicy food ! Outdoor seating also!
Take out
Great Ramen. Worth checking out.
Excellent as always. When the weather is cold and dreary, ramen is great comfort food. Vegetarian and Gluten Free options as well.
Great vegan Ramen and fantastic price and service.
Top shelf
Had the tonkatsu ramen. Presentation and toppings were great. But the broth lacked some punch. And as it is the key to any ramen it left me bit underwhelmed. If they somehow get the broth up to a good level this will be a great little ramen place. Even had a line, just as you would expect from a good restaurant in japan.
Spicy as hell
Food and service is top notch 5. Waiting is horrible. No take out. No reservations.
Enjoyed the salt cod shio, but I was underwhelmed, especially with the weak broth. The noodles are mediocre and too soft. The local flair with the seafood toppings was great, if a bit over the top, but overall a pretty subpar bowl of ramen. The seaweed salad was very good though.
A tad expensive but you are also getting what you pay for. Large servings and fresh ingredients, all prepared in minutes. The food travels really well when getting takeout or delivery, which is really nice. When they are super busy it can be a bit of a wait to get served but besides that, highly recommend.
Im from Courtenay, BC. My brother lives in Conception Bay. Searched you out on Googke maps. Have told my brother to go here. Will let you know what he thinks.
Friendly staff. Excellent dumplings and ramen.
We had the pork shoyu. The broth was okay at first but quickly became sickening (we were starving). Noodles were too thin, pork loin(?) was dry and hard to get down. Also, the restaurant was freezing cold—to the point that we had to keep our winter coats on while eating and even then I still felt freezing. I will say that the vegetables were fresh and the presentation was amazing—it looked good enough to be in a magazine, but overall I really didn’t enjoy the experience at all.
Service excellent; our server was fun, helpful, enthusiastic, attentive. Location was quiet, clean, interesting decor. Edamame delicious. My dining companions had miso ramen and pork ramen; both enjoyed it. However, I was disappointed by my veggie shoyu ramen. Broth seemed like water with just soy sauce and hot sauce added. I know it’s not a Japanese restaurant like I’d find in Toronto, but here’s hoping for improved broth in the Bad Bones future.
Not the best but they try. They need a few more options. I've had Ramen all over including in Japan. These guys need to put out garlic and spices and good soy to add to your Ramen. Also needs to have a good Miso pork Ramen with egg, seaweed, and they need better noodles.
We arrived late and were accommodated with grace and good humour. The food is delicious and the small helpings are well priced, so you can try an assortment. Highly recommended for a tasty snack or a fuller meal. Patio is comfortable and welcoming.
Perfect for a night out... Or a date... Bad Bones Ramen is the best Ramen experience I have ever had
Wonderful, but very limited menu. Seating/venue is awful, but it's geared for individuals looking to get quick bite. Too bad because quality of food warrants more time for better appreciation.
Food was tasty and the service was nice.
Great food and atmosphere. Friendly staff.
First ramen ever (so can't really compare), but I really enjoyed it. Very friendly place
Great spot! Go on an empty stomach!
Wait times are a bit long but totally worth it! Ramen is amazing and always made with fresh ingredients, awesome drink selection!
I didn't taste but too slow service and the cashier has attitude and very rude , she even didn't give me back the right amount of money
Pork belly shoyu. No matter the slight changes to the bowl, it's always awesome. The brussel sprouts are damn good. Also the chicken shoyu should be tried.
Wonderful service and a really delicious meal. Love the style of the setting too, and all for a very reasonable price.
bad service
Delicious! Fast and friendly service! Cold beer! I'll definitely be returning!
Noodles were good, wait time was not. Bit on the over-priced side too
Pork belly ramen is really good
There's no need to say any more about how absurdly good the food is, so I'll use this space to point out the sheer magnitude of the portions; I went in famished and could just barely make it to the bottom of my meal. In an hour. Will absolutely be back.
Azingnfood, amazing service!
Great food / Good service / limited seating
If you're reading this, STOP, this is it. Pull up a stool.
Good value, very busy. Small venue with only wall and bench seating. Often has a lineup. Open later. The pork belly is a personal favorite. Takeout is available.
Never had ramen before, a dear friend recommended us and we loved it!!!! If you enjoy noodles, you need to try this! Many options to choose, I loved pork ramen and complementary tea was a delight!
Yes the gluten-free options are good. Meals a reasonable price too.
Good noodle soup but the broth is too salty.
Literally the best food in St. John's (soup category)
It's does not resemble traditional ramen at all. No depth of flavour in the broth. Noodles is too thin with no elasticity. The pork belly is very bland. Overall pretty poor.
Extremely long waiting time! not worth it !!
Always love the food, great place to fight back the incoming cold. Service was especially good this time too.
A small ramen restaurant on Water St that is open late. It has very limited seating and is often very busy, which results in a line up, but the food is worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and dedicated to their food. It's a welcomed and different addition to the Downtown lineup of food.
Nice chill atmosphere, tasty drinks, and I enjoyed the veggie tempura and egg add-on. I want to like it, but the ramen broth is just okay for the price. On the cold day I visited, the room was wear-your-coat-indoors chilly.
Great food! Great (big) portions! Friendly Staff!
Delicious and authentic. Get the dumplings! I’m always so happy every time I eat here!
It's not ramen at all
Super cool ramen spot in St. John's. The ramen is delicious and the every time I go the service is amazing. They have a few different types of ramen depending if you are a meat, seafood, or veggie lover. The atmosphere consists of bar stools along a long table. It is small and usually there is a line up. The line up is always fast and is totally worth it. This is the best ramen I have tried in the city! To sum it up, I never go out to eat alone but I have gone to Bad Bads solo a few times!
Broth was very hot, the place was chilly. The food was decidedly worth the wait. I'll be back for sure. The tempura was amazing.
I love the idea that young people from St John's started this noodle bar and for that I have given them an extra star. The chef is slow and careful, using very good ingredients. The noodles and base do need improvement, but I assume the chef is smart enough to know that, in order to play on a national scale. Nice atmosphere and slow delivery, you will need patience but the price represents that.
Love the variety and the fact that there is now takeout! Highly recommend!
Very authentic flavor and some of the best dumplings I've ever had. Light and non greasy. The pork belly Ramen is heaven.
I had the opportunity to eat at one of this noodle house's locations. It was wonderful and I enjoyed my Chicken Gyoza Dumplings that came with dipped sauce. It is my favorite food there!
Great food and lovely staff. Not a place to sit around, it's more like eating and leaving kinda vibe.
Great ramen. Surprising combinations using local ingredients. Water service would be nice.
Small, busy, good prices... Usually a line up. They do phone in and walkin takeout. Spicy.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food was really good, best ramen I've had in the atlantic Maritimes.
Good ramen and great gyoza! I stop by whenever I get a chance.
Absolutely amazing food. There was so much flavor. Chef is very talented. The price for the amount of food you great
Probably the best restaurant in St. John's. It has been consistently my first choice for going out to eat since it opened. The classic Pork Belly Shoyu is perfection! They even make brussel sprouts delicious! ????
Good food, impressive presentation, and friendly staff. Prices are a bit high and it's not ideal in terms of space and seating arrangements, but if you go with one or two other people you'll likely be able to make it work, and there is no direct competitors in the city, so prices being a bit high is understandable. Definitely worth a visit.
Simply delicious. I can see myself eating here until I'm too fat to move
Excellent Miso and super nice Service
Good soup noodles, big bowl. Pork belly had a good serving of roast pork belly and pork slices. Great stuff!
BEST RAMEN EVER
Excellent food!! One of my favourites!
The staff was really friendly and fun. The menu is typical of a specialty ramen restaurant and they have some good beers. The chicken gyoza was wonderful, and the porkbelly ramen was delicious, on par with some of the best in North America. Unfortunately it took about 45 minutes to get food, which isn't the worst, but ramen shouldn't take so long. Additionally the broth was luke-warm. Ramen should be served piping hot (the famous slurping comes from eating it in a way to avoid getting burned) in order to get the best flavours. The restaurant could be a top spot if they improved a couple things. Prices were super reasonable! Edit: Forgot to mention the music, awesome playlist!
It was pretty good for a none Japanese ramen restaurant. There aren't many choices in Newfoundland, I only wish they made homemade noodles makes a big difference.
I can now say that Ive tried vegetarian ramen soup from Vancouver to St. John's and many places in between. The broth is delicious and the toppings are fresh and generous. Unfortunately they don't make their own noodles. Nevertheless, this place is definitely worth a taste, the staff were friendly and in my view it's a good value for the money.
Really good ramen and the complimentary tea was great But the ambiance sets this place apart. Pretty hip. I'll be returning for sure.
Overall a wonderful option for a chilly evening. I had the pork belly shoyu and the meat portion was larger than most places I have been. Flavor of the pork slices and belly portion were out of this world delicious! Vegetable garnishes were fresh and abundant. Noodles were fine, broth was a bit more salty and less umami than I was expecting; the flavor of soy sauce overwhelmed anything else. I had a small cup of tea from the communal stand, but it had almost no flavor at all. My understanding is that it changes, so perhaps this just wasn’t steeped long enough, no worries. I was a bit confused as the pricing on the board said $16.50 for pork belly shoyu and I didn’t order anything else, but my total was $19.00. I’m not from here though, so unsure as to local taxes and such. I left an additional $2 as it isn’t really full service but isn’t no service either... a bit confusing maybe for gratuity purposes. Generally speaking I was happy to have it, sure hit the spot after a long, cold flight from Europe.
Had the Pork Belly Shoyu. Tasted amazing and looked just as good. The place has a very comfortable aesthetic to pair!
Very small...very steamy...very slow...
I went here with my friend a while ago and had the most amazing experience. Not only was the food awesome with more than generous portions, but the customer service is really what was the icing on the cake. My friend was sick and the girl at the cash had given her a herbal tea to take home so she would feel better.
Had to wait but was worth it
I liked the space and atmosphere. The service was very friendly. I tried the pork belly ramen. Overall, I enjoyed the pork belly and the variety of toppings on the ramen. However, the noodles could've been more chewy and the broth could have had a deeper flavour. I'd go back again for noodles in St. John's.
This evening was my fiancées and my first time here. Absolutely LOVED IT! Honestly can't say anything better about this place! (Is it possible to give more than 5 stars ?????) Great atmosphere, delicious food and overall happy people! Only one waitress on and she did incredible! Its a busy spot so remember to be patient with her! Thank you so much! We will be back!
Have been in a couple of times, I love the take out option as the place is usually very busy. Staff are friendly and good natured, thumbs up on the playlist too which is often Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, and the like. I love the spicy broth and the fresh veggies, I don't live anywhere near the place, but it's worth the trip downtown for some tasty noodles. 13/10 would slurp again
Winter is coming and Bad Bones Ramen is the perfect place to warm up your heart and your soul!
Dinner
My favourite place to get Ramen. Definitely delicious! Fabulous staff.
Loved this place! Super friendly and fantastic food????. The Brussel sprouts and Rad Thai were delicious!! Yummm
Great service while social distanced and food wonderful as always. Big addition to the outdoor downtown mall.
Great food & atmosphere. Best deep fried pickles I've ever had ???????? ???? : Lemon pepper wings, deep fried pickles, chicken miso ramen & dirty shrimp ramen ????
Good ramen (I'm not an expert), bit of a wait after ordering though.
Tried the vegetable shoyu & pork belly tonkotsu. The vegetarian one definitely wasn't worth 10$ but the pork belly one tasted good. Probably tastes better when you're drunk.
Tonight was mine and my fiancé's first time trying and I have ti say, I wish I could give them more stars haha Food is amazing! Large portion sizes, and full of flavour :) They only had one server when we were here, and she was amazing! But, she only has two hands, so, please be patient if its busy! :) 10/10 will be back again soon ????
The food here is delicious - I have had authentic ramen in Toronto, NYC, and Seattle & this place matches up. Unfortunately leaving a mediocre review as every time I am here there is one waitress, severely overworked, that is doing her absolute best to serve every table in the joint. Obviously this is insane. She apologized for the wait multiple times but it was in no way her fault - how can one person do the work of two or even three? On top of this, it is absolutely FREEZING here and has been even since October (i have been back multiple times). I (and my companions each time) had to eat with our winter coats on which is sad considering we were eating hot soup and indulging in a few alcoholic beverages. Please treat your staff fairly and turn on the heat for the love of god
Very tasty. Good service.
People who give 5 star to the place are probably people who never tried authentic Japanese ramen in the first place. Oh well...how can a ramen place have both shoyu and miso ramen but not the original ramen. Also, noodles they use are more like Cantonese style wonton noodles, but not the Japanese style. Chasu's texture taste a bit weird, and who puts edamame in ramen? That should be a side dish for God's sake lol. Egg is overcooked too, that's like one of the key features of Japanese Ramen, and it's royally messed up. And worst of all, it takes them 20 mins to make my ramen. I mean...regardless of how busy you are, 20 mins for Japanese fast food? Get outta here....I would rate the place as zero if I can. Oh btw, I grew up in Tokyo and I can cook ramen too =) PS: not sure why the review part wouldn't allow me to comment under your comment, but at least I can edit to add a bit more of what I had say. I knew you would say u guys aren't making fast food but good food. Notice: here "fast" doesn't mean bad, it means fast to make for restaurants. Ofc most japanese ramen soup takes hours(unless pressure cooker is being used) to make and chasu needs to be prepared with extra amount of time, probably overnight, but they are ALL PRE-prepared! None of these should take 20 mins to finish. This restaurant is the first place to make me wait for more than 15 mins among all the ramen restaurants I had been to. Meh...just stop explaining.
Love it!
Amazing taste. Great service. Good value. Will be back for sure.
Fantastic food and not over priced
Awesome food and great service!
Loved it!!
First ramen experience. It was amazing. Highly recommend. The pork belly shoyu was a great time. Will definitely be going back.

Hope they can stay open grand spot
Always a delicious meal... Love bad bones ramen
Customers service was fantastic and the atmosphere is energetic, but the food didnt quite live up to expectation
Amazing food super filling, but I wish they delivered or had skip the dishes.
Great ramen. Friendly service! Ask for their homemade hot sauce to mix into your ramen.
Truly truly mediocre. Have been before and recall thinking it was almost as good ramen as I've ever had. Not so this time.
Good food, nice atmosphere, good service. Would recommend to anyone.
Excellent atmosphere and great food! You definitely need to try this place!
Always super busy and some weirdish hours but by God is their ramen delicious. The pork belly is sublime and the presentation is always on point. They don't have very many seats due to small downtown location, but the people who work there are lovely and I can never say I've had even a remotely a bad experience here. This is a usual haunt for every person who frequents downtown. The wait times can be long and the line can very easily go out the door so I'd make sure you're not in a rush before going here, however.
Love the veggie ramen!!
Hot noods
Ribs were amazing and so was our Ramen
Awesome soup. Will keep going back for sure.
Great atmosphere and really good ramen
Been here a couple of times now and I have never been disappointed! Their complimentary tea is always different and tasty. I love how they change up their menu to keep things fresh, can't wait to go back. Great price for awesome portions :)
Great food and friendly service. Highly recommended.
Fair prices, good portions, flavourful, fast and delightful service. Overall excellent 5/5
Worth the price! Really tasty and it is a big soup! Loved it and people working there were awesome
The ramen is alright. There is a generous portion of pork, but the rest of the ramen non traditional. Very unique interpretation.
Nothing but love here! Keep the good stuff coming!

Was absolutely excellent. I've dined there multiple times and my favorite remains the pork belly Ramen
Amazing ramen for the price. First time trying shrimp ramen and it was really good.
Really enjoyed this spot, didn't think I could get good ramen here, not bad! However it isn't a traditional/authentic noodle shop (not that it takes away from the quality, just different!)
So yummy
I hate to say it, but fairly overrated; I expected a lot higher quality from the ramen based on the hype and the price.
Great atmosphere. Delicious ramen. Thanks for the experience!
Fresh, healthy, different - food is incredible and it shows by high wait times - but worth it.
I had the opportunity to eat at one of this noodle house's locations. It was wonderful and I enjoyed my spicy chicken miso with udon noodle and my dumpling side. It is my favorite ramen shop!
Nice place for ramen. Very simple
Great place for a date night
Service
Cozy little spot with some nice ramen noodles. Surprisingly good for St. John's.
The place was freezing inside. We had to keep our winter coasts on and it was only November. We where not the only ones to be doing so either. The menu was on a wall that could not be read from where our table was. As for the food. The tempura vegetables where delicious but the serving was small. The ramen is a large portion but I did not enjoy. I don't claim to love ramen but I was in the mood for some, it was disappointing.
Loved the food. Had Spicey Chicken Miso. But the stools which were the only seats are horribly uncomfortable! Also, a drinks menu on the wall would be great
Great service! The chicken gyoza dumplings are amazing!
Loved the food, I'm a picky eater and I loved all of it.
The chef clearly has talent and the dishes are constructed beautifully but what you're served is horribly bland. You have to rely on the condiments provided to add some life to the broth. Once you do that then it becomes ok (but not great). If they can figure out how to fix the broth then everything else in the bowl is already in place to become delicious! The wait is also an issue as the chef is working alone and therefore the process is extremely slow. We had a rouhly 1.5hr event from waiting in line to finishing our meals. The cashier also doesn't inform you until you've waited 20-25 that certain broths are unavailable. Again, this is probably something that will be smoothed out after the opening week craziness.
Food, service and drinks were top notch. Will definitely be back multiple times. Highly recommend.
Very cramped. Took forever.
We were greeted with the warning of no eggs were available tonight. We decided that was fine and ordered anyways. I ordered chicken Shoyu. The broth was excellent, and tasty, the ramen good. Unfortunately had to hunt for chicken, the was very little, and without eggs made me crave a good protein component to the meal. We also ordered gyoza, which came 15 minutes after getting our meals. The food was good, the atmosphere and service left a lot to be desired.
Me and my misses had the pork belly Ramen.it was so good plenty of meat in it and a tasty broth.
Some delicious ramen
First time at a ramen joint. If they're all like this I've been missing out.
One of the best bowls of ramen I've had in the country! 10/10 would ramen again
First time eating ramen, and it was delicious! Great service and the place is sparkling clean. Highly recommend!
Good lunch place
Excellent service, the food is great but seating is a bit limited. Otherwise an outstanding noodle shop.
I had the pork belly shoui. The broth tasted like a boiled pork chop, there was no flavor. Also you only get 1 piece of pork belly, then the rest is pork loin chop, my guess is this is why the broth tasted so bad.
Service is good and the ramen is delicious. Couple that with delicious sides (that often sell out if you're not quick enough) and twists on the traditional ramen makes it a reliable favorite.
So good! Veggie miso ramen with an egg❤️
Absolutely wonderful food and absolutely amazing service. Bad Bones Ramen is a family affair and you can feel that they care about every little detail so much. Erica was so very welcoming and attentive, and didn't mind us pestering her with questions about the food and the restaurant. And the food, ohhhh the food. Dirty shrimp in liver broth is absolutely to die for. Toronto has great many wonderful ramen places, but I will be missing the little ramen shop in St John's, that's for sure.
I recently visited Newfoundland and was so excited to try Bad Bones after getting a raving review from friends. Wanting to take my mom and Auntie for something new and delicious I couldnt wait to go and treat them, but what a disappointment it turned out to be. We ordered tempura shrimp and veggies to start, which both turned out to be very soggy and unappealing. We ordered chicken wings as well, which were on the other end of soggy and instead over cooked, very crispy and equally as unappealing. Finally came the ramen, mine the chicken and my moms the shrimp. The shrimp was spicy (which we didnt know but the broth was actually really good). My chicken broth was bland, the chicken itself was cold and grisly and honestly I couldnt even pretend to finish and enjoy it. The rose flavoured tea was tasty, by the time we got cups to use, which helped with how cold it was in the place. Overall we ended up having a bust of a time with an $80 bill and I would be hard pressed to go back. I'm not sure if the cook or vibe was off that day with it being just past New Years or what, but it defintley didn't sell the family on a new and fun experience. Our server was nice so the 2 star review is for her.
This was very filling. I had pork belly with duck egg. Definitly will be back again!
Such a cute but cool little place and the food and service was amazing.
yum yum yummy yummy yum yum
It was awesome: decent place, fantastic service, reasonable prices and great ramen. Recommended.
oh my god the ramen here was incredible ????
Absolutely delicious appetizers. Our group had dumplings, chicken wings, and fried brussel sprouts. Generous portions for ramen. Only complaint that large bowl of dirty shrimp dish had maybe 5 shrimp in it. Great flavor. Like the serve yourself water or hot tea options. The tea was really good, also.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Food is amazing. Full assortment of toppings. Do your self a favor and add an egg. Hopefully they can move to a bigger location in the future.
terriably long wait , 45 mins wait turned i to over 2 hours
Great food, great prices, wonderful staff, you just gotta go and see for yourself!
Dine in
Nearly perfect, only issue is the music is too loud
Loved this place! Staff was very friendly and helpful, and everything was explained to us. I had the pork, and it was delicious. The pork belly in particular was cooked perfectly. My only wish is that they had a bigger location, as it could get crowded in that space. Overall, a great experience.
Well. I managed to go there once and service and food was fine. Tried 4 more times and couldn’t go in. Not because it was busy but because I could find parking or they were closing. Even though I was there early enough before they closed for the lunch period and was turned away. Finally managed to get there on my 5th attempt, and had to wait 35 minutes for Ramen. “Because we only have one cook.” Frankly, the food just is not good enough to justify what turned out to be a 50 minute wait. It’s fine. If you have had ramen anywhere else it’s not even close. Sadly, it’s the only place you can get it here. I am done with this place. Not worth the effort.
I went 3 different times back when they first opened at their old location and was not impressed. I've since returned two different times to their new location and everything is much better! The food was amazing and the service was great. Definitely recommend trying it again to anyone who wasn't a fan of it before, or just in general to anyone who wants to try out some delicious ramen. Edit: I’ve since gone back at least 10 times and every single bowl of ramen was delicious. If you are lucky enough to have the Fried Chicken Curry on the menu when you go, do NOT pass it up. 100% best bowl of ramen I’ve ever had anywhere.
Wonderful food exellent experience
One of the best ramen I ever had. Take the special one with the sechuan spices. Great fusion of Chinese and Korean spices with a Japanese traditional dish. I haven't seen that ever. The chef is cooking with his heart and soul for sure. The pho is pure. Very light not too heavy. Too light for me but great for others. It does however respects the Vietnamese very traditional pure taste. And they give you 3 lime. Because of all these other places that only give you 1 and think it is enough because they want to save or don't understand pho lol ! That alone was a great thumb up.
Very friendly and helpful staff and the ramen is out of this world with flavour
Super good tantanmen and free green tea, what more do you want for lunch?
Best meal I've had in a restaurant in a long time!
Always delicious. I crave these hot noods all the time now!
(Translated) Beautiful decor and beautiful atmosphere. The menu is short but effective. The dumplings were succulent, the edamame well seasoned and the classic of the house; the Ramen soup was well done! I recommend without hesitation! (Original) Beau décor et belle ambiance.
