Well known spot in NS for great clams and seafood. I have never had anything other then clams here but they are always hot and delicious. It is usually quite busy and sometimes theres a line up for a seat and can take quite a while to get seated and eat but other then that its a great spot and i would recommend. The only thing I would say is maby the owners look into a bigger spot in the future to accommodate their fan base they have built up over the years.

We came in at 4:30, got seated immediately,the food was served quickly but it all fell apart after that. We sat for 30 minutes waiting for our ticket and a take out container for our extra soup. My husband went looking to find a container after 20 minutes and let them know we were ready for our bill. Continued to wait and wait. Tables around us were seated and orders taken. We continued to wait. She came in to take an order from the table across from us and then proceeded to walk out of the room. I loudly said "excuse me" the waitress came back in the room and looked around. I said "we are ready to check out". She became nasty and said "I'll see you at the register." I reminded her we were waiting for a container. My husband went to get in line to check out and everyone had bills except for him. A container and our bill was brought to the table while he was in line. We didn't get out of there until after 6pm. Don’t go! There are other options! They are rude and disrespectful! I never need to leave bad reviews but this place deserves it! I understand they had gotten busy but that doesn't excuse the rudeness and disrespect! No apology for making us wait for so long, just rudeness! Are you still interested in hearing about the food? To be honest we had already made our assessment on the food before the incident with the bill. We ordered; Steamed Clams - they were fresh but not properly cleaned, very sandy including pebbles Seafood Chowder - full of seafood, clams, scallops, haddock, small pieces of lobster. We don't use much salt in our diet but this soup broth was bland. Much salt and pepper were added to give it flavor. Fried Scallops - delicious and tender Fried Fish (Haddock) - delicious, tender and flaky.

Very popular with both locals and tourists. Friendly staff, and a good variety to choose from on the menu. They have a reputation for their Clams. Good value for the money, but some dishes can be unreasonably pricey (ie. Scallops wrapped in bacon).

AGH! We really enjoyed the food but it took us just shy of 50 minutes to receive our order!!! They seem to really cater to the take out customers. Had we known, we never would have gone in for dine in service. We ordered the seafood platter (as shown) which was about $32. It was supposed to come with a lobster roll. They didn't have lobster so the waitress offered to either give us more clams or scallops. We opted for more scallops (better bang for our buck). I think this never should have been offered to us and we should have instead been offered two separate meals (clams & fries, and fish & chips) as this would have been more cost effective for us!! When we finally received our order, there was definitely not enough seafood to justify the price!!! We complained and she brought us more clams (also pictured). I'm sad to say the clams took less than 2 minutes to arrive.. why did our original order take 50??? :/ It's a lovely area to visit, but management, PLEASE do better to organize the operations in your restaurant!! Next time I will try the place down the road.

Good fish and chips. We had a good time here, and the service was great. Had good conversations with the waitresses, and both the food and service were what we expected, (which was good). Nothing special here. Just regular Nova Scotian food, deep fried mostly, club sandwiches, etc. Not a gourmet establishment, but that was fine by us. We left happy.

Good home cooking - if you are looking for a no frills, filling meal this is the place. Mainly the usual fried seafood but cooked to a good standard. Home made pies for dessert. Friendly staff and a small patio to the rear. It has an alcohol license and sells beer and house wines.

My wife enjoyed the haddock fish and chips. She was surprised to have options for fish ?flounder? Good portion and price for seniors. Minor server mixups for cream vs milk, bbq sauce for chicken wings. The GINGER BREAD was 5 star awesome. Drizzled with Carmel toffee and whipped cream. I’d go back from Halifax just for that :-) The parking lot is always busy here so a great local choice.

Absolutely rock bottom prices for a really large portion of food. This has to be the most affordable place I've ever visited. Most of the food was quite good, but that isn't too much of a challenge when most of it is also deep fried. So if you're looking for a quick and delicious deep fried stop for just a few bucks, this is the place to go. They do have many other selections on the menu that aren't deep fried, but we didn't try a lot of them. You get very large portions for your chowder or soups and they were flavourful. This was a welcome change compared to paying $15 for an average tasting small bowl of chowder elsewhere. Unfortunately the Diane's Burger was very plain. They tried to make up for an uninspiring unseasoned burger patty by loading it with ketchup, mustard, and relish. That just didn't do the trick, and the boring flavour of the slightly overcooked ground beef prevailed over everything (especially when the burger has two parties). They are allegedly number one for their deep fried clams (not sure according to who, or number one compared to what), but I didn't notice anything special about them. Tested like anything else deep fried. It's a great stop for a good diner-style bite at very low prices, but avoid it if you're looking for any spectacular or fine dining.

OMG, this place is awesome! Food is good & cheap! We just came from Spirit Reins Ranch going horse back riding and are making our way to Halifax, Nova Scotia and stopped at this local spot that is known for clams, burgers, fries, milkshakes etc. We were not disappointed! Food was REALLY reasonably priced and yummy. You can eat inside (see images, inside is small) or outside on picnic tables provided.well worth the stop!

Quant little place in Economy. We got the Fish and Chips woth clams as well, alll delicious! Fish was more breaded than battered so it was essentially all actually fish and the clams were fresh, whole fried clams with unlimited Kraft Tarter sauce!

My mom and I had gone to five islands that day. And decided to try Diane's. We were seated quickly and our waitress was prompt. We didn't have too long of a wait for our meal. This place is a well known gem for NS seafood & they didn't disappoint us. High quality, well priced, fresh & tasty! Most of us couldn't finish our meal, but my step dad ordered a sundae for desert that was very large & old-fashioned all the way. Worth the drive no matter what you're craving.

This take out, or sit in restaurant, offers your standard fast food fare. I always go for the Scallop burger, as it is a nice change. This was my 3rd time and never disappoints!! Ask for tartar, lettuce and tomato, to dress it up a little. All for $9, or add fries for $11.

We stopped at this spot during a roadtrip yesterday, the food was spectacular, one of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The batter to fish ratio was perfection. The young lady working the window was a delight as well. I would happily come back anytime I am in the area. A gem for sure!

It was just OK. The clams were fantastic and are worth going back for. The wine was priced very nice for a half litre and the waitress was very nice. Bacon wrapped scallops were way overpriced for 6 Loonie sized scallops and the bacon was literally paper thin. The fish and chips was just standard stuff you could get anywhere. I would go back but I'll try something different like a burger.

Drove from New Glasgow waited 2.5 hours for our food. Portions were small & was expensive. Thirty two plus dollars for a one piece fish & chip & fried clams plus drinks. Food was good but definitely not worth 2.5 hour wait.

This is a hidden gem located in Five Islands, NS. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this local business continued to deliver quality food, abundant portions, and all with a smile. While eat-in is available, in the warmer weather, opt for takeout, and sit at one of the park benches adjacent to the play area for the youngsters behind the building. This is a business worthy of your time, especially their noteworthy clams and chips. Dine-in is licensed.

The server misunderstood our order. We waited well in excess of 30 minutes for our meal receiving it only after asking because we noticed others who ordered after us were eating. When our order arrived and the error was identified our server corrected it but then avoided us. The correction was just a small order of fries which took at least 10 minutes to arrive. I had the clams and they were very good.

Great location near the Five Islands Provincial Park and the Five Islands Lighthouse. Lots of picnic tables available for seating as it is only take out at the moment. A couple of the picnic tables were also sheltered, so eating in the rain would be no problem. There is also a small playground area for the kids. As well as a good sized parking lot. I ordered the combo platter with fish, chips, and fries. I also ordered a side of coleslaw which was an extra $2. Paid $25 after taxes and tips. The fish and clams batter were lightly coated. Overall a good place to stop by and grab a quick hot meal. They are seasonal and are closed during some days of the week, so be sure to take a look at their hours before dropping by.

Update 2020: Due to covid it is only take out but the quality did not suffer at all. Will be back again soon when back in the region in October (hopefully they are still open). 2019 review Every time we camp out in Five Islands or Parrsboro we go to Diane’s. It looks like just a small road side restaurant but don’t let the looks fool you, the food and service here are great. You can tell as many locals eat here too and many returning visitors can be found here. We sampled probably the whole menu by now and found all items really good, the portions are big. Especially in blueberry season you luck out as fresh pies are served as dessert and oh boy are those some good. Somehow we never took pictures but believe me, you will forget to do so as well as the food is just too good.

If you love Clams, you will love Diane's!! It has the best fresh clams I've ever had. Anywhere else is disappointing compared to this place!
