Do to a large lady group , our wait was longer than expected. But server was great . we had the soup and sandwich x3 which was awesome . I just wish the girl would slow down a bit when she tried to explain what the soup and sandwich consisted of, she spoke so fast we missed half of it. I give it 4.5 out of 5 well done

So far my family and I have never been disappointed with The Arms. My husband and my ten-year-old always get the fish and chips and it's amazing. I've tried most of the menu items and liked almost all of them. BUT, the reason that I'm writing this review is because of their current social distancing and the menu that comes with it. I felt very secure in my dining experience today, but the highlight was the flatbread. I requested a substitution which they couldn't accommodate, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I ended up ordering the flatbread as described, and I swear on my life that it's one of the best things I've ever eaten. Additionally, I just ate some cold out of the fridge like a gremlin and it was somehow equally good. Our waitress was wonderful, but I didn't get her name and I'm regretting it. Overall, eat here. You'll have a wonderful and safe time.

Ordered the burrito was supposed to be spicy but instead tasted like someone put sugar in it. And meat didn't seem like there was much of it more rice and not surecwhatvelse it was mush inside. Fiancee ordered grilled chicken ...potatoes tasted dry and off and chickennhas no season or anything if you don't stuff them. He has allergies to dairy and doesn't eat pork so options were only plain. Only good part was our potato skins.

I honestly cannot muster another star here. We had dinner last night with our two girls and I've never been more disappointed. Initially, the atmosphere is inviting, cozy and quaint. The menu offers a great array of dishes, handhelds and apps, but my goodness do not be deceived by appearances. Let's start with the fact that they do not have gluten free or gluten sensitive options, so if you have sensitives to gluten, you are going to be very limited. Perhaps they should try to accommodate this need. They do accommodate for small children with an assortment of crayon colors and an activity page which was appreciated. Now food: My husband is ok with gluten so he ordered a burger and fries, that were pretty good, but my 'Pad Thai' - and I use that loosely, was disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. Yes I have been to Thailand and I know what real Pad Thai tastes like, but that does not influence my review of this atrocious dish. I have had Pad Thai at other restaurants, such as The Shier up the street, which is 100x better than the lukewarm slop I was served. I am not sure if the 'chef' at the Simcoe Arms knows what Pad Thai is, it seems as if they are absolutely clueless. Quite literally, I was given spicy peanut soup that did not taste like Pad Thai sauce at all, with short rice noodles and pieces of chicken breast (not bad) and overcooked rubbery shrimp. I only could stomach the chicken and shrimp. I had to leave the rest. It was less than palatable and awkward with chopsticks. So if you want to try this place, go ahead be my guest, but I do not recommend the Pad Thai $15 dish, and I suggest the chef please take a class on how to make Thai food properly or simply don't offer it. I doubt we will return there again unfortunately. I'm not saying this place should have been serving food for a Buddhist Monk, but there is a level of expectation when you choose to eat at a Sit-down restaurant that offers a particular dish, of which you trust will not only be palatable but an enjoyable experience. Food was delicious. But unfortunately the service ruined the experience. Though the waitress was attentive, she seated 7 people at a corner booth w 2 extra chairs, then when 2 more arrived left us to drag our own chairs over. There were multiple empty tables that suited larger groups. We were not offered to move before our food arrived, we were left eating on top of each other - including mixing multiple households which was not our initial intention. There was also a $15 additional charge as we ordered one bruschetta and two orders came to the table wo confirmation from us. Then the final blow was the bill being served as one bill, for a mixed party of 9. The waitress didn't even blink just plopped it on the table. Then acted flabbergasted when the senior staff told her to split the bill for the table. It also means that we spent over 10min trying to sort out our own bill. While our leftovers are getting cold, and we were getting increasingly impatient

The staff are very friendly and attentive. I also attended a retirement party there and they were more than happy to accommodate a reservation for 40 people and they were wonderful.

What I found unique was the way the menu was displayed which was on a stand that spun which makes for easy viewing and easy to wipe down the plexiglass. The dining room was still closed. The patio was opened and very nice ambiance. The restaurant attracted a varied clientele. I had buffalo chicken cheese dip with tortilla chips. It was very tasty and filling. The service was very friendly and quick. The server was very attentive and always there when needed. I would recommend eating here.

We were very disappointed in the Simcoe Arms. We are relatively new to the area and wanted to try it. I ordered Tuscan chicken, without olives. When it arrived however it not only was missing the olives, but also the Portabello mushrooms and they added goat cheese and spinach. After discussing with the waitress, they confirmed ingredients were wrong. New menu, kitchen staff not trained properly, etc. They apologized but only removed the chicken, leaving me with the sides, which of course were cold by the time I received a new plate of chicken. The waitress stopped back to explain she told the owner and he would talk to the kitchen staff. Plate #2 comes and is also wrong. Gone were the spinach and goat cheese (not in the menu), but the mushrooms were still missing. The waitress came by again and asked if I got the mushrooms and I said no. A couple minutes later the other waitress stops by and drops off a bowl with some regular mushrooms, not Portabello. No apology, no mention they aren't the right type, just dropped them on the table and left so I could add them to my plate I guess. Time for the bill, where they felt taking $5 off my $18 meal was sufficient compensation, despite the fact I never received the meal ordered as per the menu. And I got an apology again for their error, saying I was the guinea pig. Nice. I paid the bill, then told the waitress that while I understand mistakes happen, how they deal with it matters. They have lost two local customers without a doubt. She explained a $5 discount was her maximum authorized amount. I told her the owner knew about the issue and should have addressed it if he knew she couldn't comp the meal. Or she should have approached him, but I blame the owner really I didn't go in expecting a free meal, but don't think they should charge when they can't get it right. Very disappointing experience. My husband ordered meatloaf which was decent but lacking spices and rather bland.

Sometimes it's quick. Sometimes it's not. Variety of choices - usually can't go wrong with any one of the items on the menu. Notes: panzerotti is massive. Egg rolls are awesome. Wings are never a let down. Hawaiian burger is probably the best. All burgers are way more than you need - good when hungry or take leftovers home. Turkey club is a solid safe bet.

Top 10 worst dining experience of my life! We were greeted on the patio and said we needed a minute to look over the menu for drinks but would take waters (we had our two daughters with us). The server never came back! She just kept serving everyone around us and even clearing empty tables while ignoring us. We moved inside because we were starving and had been waiting 20 minutes. Service inside was OK. Food was mediocre at best. They still got our order wrong. We definitely won't be back! We left frustrated and hungry.

Food is great. If you want a quiet place to eat, this isn't the place. It always seems to be very loud here when the place is full. Quiet conversations turn into a full out shouting match. But you may like that atmosphere. Have been here when it isn't packed and is quite the good place to be. Still. The food here is so good. You shouldn't pass this place up. Burgers? OMG! Large patties that will fill you to the point you can't eat anymore!

The atmosphere is awesome in the new location and I love the outdoor patio in the summer! The arms also has a facebook page! Outside patio was nice, greeter wasn't quite as nice, with a direct NOPE when we asked to sit inside. Our server made up for that though, she was great. Aside from that, you now have to pay 2.00 for a water, no tap water given anymore if you just want a glass of water with lemon. Food was good, and fast service.

Dinner out almost came back out. What a disappointment. Ordered a Turkey que(SAD)illa. It came to the table soggy and tasteless all of the ingredients must have been microwaved from frozen except the cheese which there was lots of, probably to try and hide the wet sock mess that was to be food. I ate about 1/3. I am going to get better at complaining and not paying for this type of food but then again with the competition out there one would think asleep at the stove will mean no income someday soon. Word of mouth can be???

First time visit, which i mentioned to the hostess/waitress when we walked in. Started off with. "Sorry that table is reserved." "No you cant sit there you only have 4 people and that table is for 5." "You can have the table in the middle of the room"... We were finally able to find a table we were permitted to sit at. It was a table against the wall inbetween a quiet couple on one side and 2 very chatty, very loud women on the other. Wait staff do not look around. It's like we were non-existant to them (until tip time). Hard to get them to come back to the table. They also don't take your order with a note pad. They try to remember what you want. This is not impressive to me. I would prefer you write it down so I can ask questions and tell you exactly what I want. We asked for a drink menu. "All the drinks are there on the wall" Really!! the wall we were sitting against. I couldnt see the list as it was high above my head. We had to be very very patient! Not our style of seating. Very open with limited booths. Felt like we were sitting with the people beside us. Food was ok. Don't go in expecting to find pub style food on the menu. I think that's where we went wrong. They offer a 4 page full menu but specialize in nothing. The menu needs to be more simple. Not kid friendly at all (we had 2 with us)

Ive only attended this establishment twice and each time has had varying results. First time I visited before covid, the food was excellent. I got the butter chicken and it was delicious, no problems. My 2nd visit was more recently and I decided to get a burger. It was extremely dry and the whole time we were being assaulted by flys, while eating indoors. The one big positive is the waitresses have always been pleasant.

If I could less than one star, I would gladly give this place exactly it. This evening, we decided to go for an evening drink at our local pub. We received our round of two beers, one red wine, and a Long Island iced tea. My stepdaughter took a sip of her Long Island iced tea and realized that it was merely just syrup and had brought this matter to the waitress. The waitress then retrieved the drink and took it upon herself to pull down her mask, smell the drink, said will be right back. The “bartender” came over and said “Hi guys. I made this drink and there is absolutely nothing wrong with this drink. I made this drink myself. Here, our Long Island iced teas are made with an ounce of alcohol. If you’d like, I will gladly add another ounce for you no problem. If you’d like another drink, we can do that too but I will charge you for your iced tea as well as whatever drink you’d Iike next.” My stepdaughter responded “Hi. All I’m mentioning is that my iced tea has no alcohol in it whatsoever, and that it’s too sweet and I mentioned that to the waitress. You are being extremely confrontational and come over to verbally attack me and instead of apologizing and making it right”. Our waitress then came over back to our table, told us that she would take the iced tea off our bill, and she asked what she would like in return. So she asked for a bud light instead. When she came back with the beer, and she was consistently apologizing, we assured her that it was none of her wrongdoings and we appreciated her efforts to make it better. So it was set, we all had our drinks and are now able to sit and enjoy our drinks and spend time together. The bartender then came back over to the table and took all of our drinks, told us that “after speaking with the owner of the restaurant, it was decided that we would pack up for the evening and for us to leave. You were being rude with the waitress and you are being asked to leave.” This is absolutely incorrect and false information. We had asked to speak to the owner so we could discuss our experience face to face. But instead, she, the bartender, came back to the table, and she was adamant that we were leaving. We were completely shocked and surprised as we did nothing wrong. To our surprise, the owner was outside smoking and watching us leave, waited for us to leave before going back inside. I invite the owner and manager to contact me directly to address this situation, so perhaps we can have some clarification as to what we may or may not have done. As stated, living in a small town like Simcoe with a small handful of bars, this whole situation could have been completely different but it drastically turned out to be the worst going out experience I have ever personally dealt with. You have lost great patronage and will continue to do so if this is what your establishment promotes.

I don't even want to give it any stars. Had fish & chips about 6 months ago, was so over cooked the fish shrank up to nothing. Even the waitress said this should not have left the kitchen. So this week we decided to give them another chance. What a mistake! Absolutely horrible lunch.....lettuce was brown in my salad and my husbands pizza was way over cooked. When complained they said that's the way the make their pizza....what? overcooked? Never ever will go back.

If I could give 0 zero that’s what it would get go in for drinks the Long Island ice tea comes back with zero alcohol in it the waitress has the female bartender come over and she starts yelling at us that she knows what she made and there’s alcohol in it then storms off it gets replaced with a beer then the bartender comes over again and 2 minutes later and scoops up all the drinks and says she has talked to the owner and asked us to leave . Have had many $500 summer nights at this place but never ever again. Your not just losing regulars your losing a lot more !

While I have had good food here, today I ordered the "Pad Thai" 50% higher price than downtown toronto thai restaurants wrong ingredients, also missing BASIC ingredients like crushed peanuts and bean sprouts tasted like wet garbage for 17 dollars Never again

If zero was an option I would have given this establishment that, instead of the one star. Terrible experience. Service/management/food was all an issue. Server/management very defensive and lacked basic and very simple customer service skills, to empathize with their customer and rectify the issue, in a timely and appropriate manner. Won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend!

The service was top notch, I believe our waitress was Olivia (great waitress) but the food was not the best. I ordered the fisherman's platter. The shrimp, scallops and calamari was very over cooked and the fish was just a saturated log of cooking oil with a small somewhat edible piece of fish inside. Out of the 5 of us who went, no one was overly satisfied with the food. This was our first time there and the overall concencious was that no one would likely return.

We have eaten here many, many times. Fairly new to area and were introduced to Simcoe Arms by a family member. We both have ordered the same meals every time we have been there. This is our fourth summer here and we’ve been a year in off and on covid lockdown. We live an hour away. Absolutely my favorite restaurant ever. Even though I order the same meal every time I detect a difference. I am sure it is each chef’s/cook’s individual twist, the meal is great. I love it so much I never order anything else. Today I ordered my usual and made a comment that there must be a new cook. Meaning only that it was different. Not meant in any way to demean any other cook. I only meant that it was great and different. I am sure that I have had this meal 20/30 times and loved it every time. But I think I may have offended the server by unintentionally inferring that the other cooks were not as good. That is far from true. If the food was exactly the same every time I probably would have gotten tired of this meal. Different cooks with their different twists make this meal great every time I get to eat here. I love it and I can’t wait till the next time I get to eat here. I am sorry Maryann if you thought I was being offensive

I had the Red Currie dish today. It tasted like cheap spaghetti sauce that comes from spaghetti-o's and a little bit of coconut. I tried a bit of a burger, and it was pretty good. I guess just stick to simple dishes such as burgers at this place.

I go here often. But seems when my son comes the service is next to nothing. Wanted him to bring home some food but waitress avoided their table since they received their food. Just a point. Just because their teens, doesn’t mean they should be treated with less respect. Not going to go here much anymore.

S L O W Service. Hours waiting for 2 sandwiches. How is that even possible? Not to mention . There was a wait time with over 6 tables open. A few of which were for 2 people... Well for us there was. Next group that walked in as 2 people got seated right away. Even though we were standing right there. Last time I come here... terrible service and dry food. All I can say about this place

Took my husband for our anniversary last night March 3lst 2015 I ordered chicken curry consisted of 2 pieces of chicken l leg not sure what the other was slapped on a bed of rice some curry the chicken was not cut up nothing else diid not look very good or tasted good either. My husband ordered ribs and fries the cook cannot cook fries the potatoes must have been in the bin for ages and they tasted and looked terrible too. the only thing the drinks were good and am glad we did not order the fish an chips.

We stopped in on a whim on our way home from the beach and were pleasantly surprised by our experience. Our server was great - friendly, timely, and helpful, and the food was excellent as well. My husband kept raving about the burger the rest of the day!

Ordered Pad Thai. Came to the table looking like some sort of soup. The flavors weren't very Thai inspired at all. Next order was Pulled pork flat bread. Another disappointment unfortunately. The pulled pork had a canned tuna texture. Made me wonder when it was made? Not very good at all. Side note, they make you buy bottled water if thats what you prefer to drink. Can't have a free glass of tap water? I heard the fried foods might be better choices? Overall nothing special. I'll be avoiding this restaurant.

I have to say I thought the place looked nice. I was excited to try their burger and fries. It tasted like filler and was wet and mushy inside. Actually gag worthy. They did nothing to remove it from our 50$ bill. They were kindly told it was not tasty and not edible. Very disappointed. Also nothing is more annoying than flies around my table inside the restaurant. Sorry nothing good to say. If you want to make it right pm me a credit and I would gladly retract review and would try chicken wings and fries or fish and chips.

We went in for the panzerotti's. They came recommended. We were warned by the waitress that they are huge. That's what we were looking for. They were big. We weren't disappointed. 3 different Panzerotti's and they were all good. 3 days later and still eating leftovers. Service could have been a little better. Our daughter chose the the kids menu. You don't get much for $8.99. Plus the fries were frozen and tasted like it. A big X for me is not being asked if we want another drink. That lost 1 star alone. Always busy there, but we were sat right away. Lucky!

Had a take out order of fish and chips....fish was more batter than fish and very thick, chips were scarce very dark and possibly reheated..awful.

Food was first class pub food. The waitress was friendly and prompt. The only complaint if you would; would be that we had our grandchildren with us and it would have been nice if their food would have come quicker. They were pretty rowdy by the time out food came. Will definitely go again.

Very happy with fish and chips. The beer battered tasted fresh, the pickerel was perfectly cooked. Complete experience with slaw and all the trimmings. The service was excellent and fast for lunch. Yum-yum in the tum-tum!

Was not overly impressed. A friend ordered a coke and it was totally flat. The waitress said she'd replace it but the second coke was still flat. So she suggested a glass of water. I ordered the liver with bacon & onions. With a baked potato. I told her to bring lots of sour cream. She brought one little cup. Half way through my baked potato I requested more sour cream. When the bill came she had charged $1.75 for the sour cream. But declared that to us that she cut us a break because she only charged full price for the first sour cream and charged only .75 cents for the second one declaring she charged us for mayo instead. Honestly what restaurant charges for sour cream when you order a baked potato? I doubt if I'll ever go back.

Your typical 'pub' atmosphere. The menu is vast and the food does not disappoint! Children's meals are on the high end at $8.99 each but was enough for the meals and leftovers for my little guy. Would recommend and plan to visit again when I am in Simcoe!

Great variety of food (pub fare, burgers, steak, seafood, Italian, thai, pizza, etc.) Servers were attentive and kind. Table service was quick. The flies (we sat inside) were annoying.

Definitely worth the drive! My parents and I tried this restaurant out for the first time last night and we will all be back! The food was amazing! I ordered a green curry, and I loved it! The sauce was nicely spicy, not overly so, and really accentuated the dish! The noodles were cooked perfectly and the cauliflower and carrots were lightly steamed and still a bit crunchy. My mom ordered a Santa Fe salad that was absolutely huge, and my dad ordered fish and chips. Both raved about how impressive the food was. The host and server were courteous and accommodating. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to seat us after a reasonable wait. Patrons would be well advised to have a reservation during these COVID times. You can get a walk-in spot, but keep in mind there may be a wait.

So my husband and I typically enjoy going to this restaurant. The food is good, atmosphere etc. We also enjoy bringing our 6 year old in with us as its a nice family restaurant. However! This past Saturday we went in for a date night and the waitress we had was absolutely awful! She was rude from the time we arrived to when we left. We didn't even finish our drinks because we didn't want her coming back to our table as it felt like a huge inconvenience for her. When we arrived I asked her if we could sit at a table I had pointed out in the dining room area and she replied with "um that one is wet and dirty so no, choose another one" so we choose the one beside it. She came over with our menus and threw them on our table and walked away. There was no hello, no attempt to take our drink orders - nothing. The food also came out cold (this is the first time we had a bad meal here) My husband and I don't get out too often just the two of us and I found the hospitality to be disgustingly bad, we will not be returning to this restaurant for any special occasion that's in my control. If this was my first experience here, I would be giving this a 1 star.
