I like this place! They offer good food, they have a rich menu, The cook in that restaurant is well trained, I like a lot trying all their food. The dishes are always good, the service towards the customers is good. I go often to this restaurant and I was never disappointed. I recommend this place.

I've been to Flipper's many times over the years. Every time I've been to Flipper's it's been to the banquet hall in the basement, so I don't know what the restaurant is like upstairs. The restaurant does appear to be busy so it should be good food. In the hall, the food has been pretty good for mass cooked meals. The decor is old and does need an upgrading. If you need a space for a lot of people and don't need to make it a fancy affair then this is a good place to go to.

Disclosure: I used to work here in my teens when it was called the Whiteshield Restaurant and Tavern. Steve, the owner, is a class act. Scotty, the chef, cooks up THE BEST prime rib in Toronto (banquets). The change to seafood restaurant is charming and you will not be disappointed coming here for a meal.

We had two take-out orders of whole Florida Snapper with vegetables and rice for lunch. Both fishes were quite large with a lot of delicious meat cooked perfectly! Also, the vegetables were tasty and, even though each portion wasn’t as abundant as the fish, they were good enough for each person.

Too bad we're not allowed to sit in here because of Covid. If you love The Sea and everything nautical then this is the place for you. And their food is swimmingly delightful. I had an order of halibut fish and chip to go.(doh!) Cooked the way I like. No heavy batter. The chips cooked medium and not crispy. You get a side of coleslaw and tartar sauce all for under $20. Ar matey! ????

Now under new ownership, Flippers is even better than before. The salad bar is gone but their salad choices are fantastic. Expanded menu for those who don't like fish but fish remains their specialty. So many choices, all delicious. Glad its still around! Another visit to Flippers, not close to us but worth the drive. After repeatedly having the shrimp (which she loves), my wife had the salmon which was fantastic. Our daughter loved the steak. Not all fish places also do good meat dishes. As for me, hard to get me to switch from the sole. The food is not the only reason, fantastic service that can't be beat. Wish could give it higher than 5 stars

So surprised at all the 5 star ratings now that we've had delivery from here. I had the char chicken - it was dry and flavorless inside. The potatoes were incredibly salty. I got a side Caesar with homemade dressing and I sincerely doubt that the dressing is homemade - tastes exactly like Kraft. Not tasty at all. Big point for the real bacon though. We also ordered the Flippers special and it was also super salty. It completely detracted from the flavor of the fish. Chicken fingers are cooked from frozen and dry, French fries are so dry they're hollow. In summary, the food tasted like a cross between airplane food and wedding buffet. Bonus points for portion size and sustainable packaging but unfortnately I don't think we'll be ordering from here again.

Came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. They owners and wait staff were very nice and accommodating. The seafood was very fresh and tasty. Cooked to perfection, not overcooked. Not too salty and buttery too like red lobster is. So happy we found this place as its close to home for when we need a seafood fix. Great prices. We ordered the seafood platter and it was a huge portion. Loved it, we will return soon :)

I had my fathers memorial here. My mother had arranged everything with Steve. I told her that I would handle the payment because she had enough to deal with. When I went to pay Steve, the prices were higher and there were additional charges that were not mentioned. Hid did not honour what he agreed on with my mom. Was it because she was at the other end of the room? I tried to mention it, but at that point after going through much, I didn't want to bother fighting over a few hundred dollars. I mentioned it to my mother who was furious. Nonetheless, we will be taking our business elsewhere for my fathers 40 day memorial. I feel we were taken advantage of at a horrible time in our lives.

This restaurant is very aesthetic and provides their customers amazing, rich and delicious foods. Today I bought a seafood feast for two and it not only tasted amazing but had rich flavours and was cooked perfectly. This is my favorite restaurant here in scarborough. Amazing job!

Just had dinner at Flipper's Fish House. It's under new ownership and I have to say Mr. T (the chef) has really changed the place. It's the same dish and yet the food is way more refined. If you want fresh seafood with natural flavours and nothing artificial - this is the spot to visit. Everything is fresh. Started with the mussels, and fried calamari - the sauce on the mussels was so good that we had to order extra bread to not go to waste. The Flipper's Seafood platter gives you a taste of everything, fresh scallops, shrimp, and two filets of seasonal fish baked in house butter and wine. Not to mention, the price is more than fair for what you get, while portions are generous. Can't wait to go back.

Worst Banquet Hall I've ever been too . 90% of wait staff were rude , multiple times they reached over guests at my table without a word let alone an excuse me. We had Dry rock hard chicken .. everything was cold , inedible and far below standards.

I haven't had a well cooked fish in a long time and their food really hit the spot. The fish was perfectly cooked, tasty and fresh. We also had the potatoes, coleslaw, garlic bread, brownie and chicken fingers. Everything was well seasoned in different ways but wa tasty. I would definitely order again and look forward to eating there in person once covid restrictions ease up.

The best thing about Flipper's is that the staff and owners truly care about their customers and take pride in their business. I felt like I was in a small town restaurant; the kind that you go to when you are on a vacation in a place like Gananoque. The salad bar is average, the side dishes are fair but the fish is what we go to Flipper's for; they have options like Pickerel, Cod and whole fish cooked the way my partner likes it with the eyeballs and everything. This is a great place to go with family and friends and we had a wonderful large event there in the basement banquet hall recently with the United Way which was amazing.

Craving for fish and chips and this place has a good rep, open later than most f&c restaurants, and reasonably close. Very quiet at 8pm on Friday night. Quaint decor. Pleasant staff. Would be romantic if you're in the mood. Craft brewed draft was a nice touch Garlic bread starter and one trip to a compact salad bar included with entrees. Nice batter, properly prepared haddock, homemade tartar sauce is a big plus. Fries appear to be from frozen. Cole slaw was vinegary.

This was the worst meal I have had in Toronto!! The vegetables and scallops were previously frozen. The fish was stale and had a metal taste. The shrimps were very chewy! And you get all of this bad food for a mere $52.50! Will definitely not be back!!

I love fish in general.and at this restaurant i found what i was looking for. Freshness ; variety and beautiful decoration inside. Owner was checking every 5min if all is okay... The only thing i suggest if they can provide a side sauce with fish coz its bland or tastless till u put salt urself.

So I decided to check this place out again since it's under new management and they apparently got a new chef, and I was definitely not disappointed. I ordered mussels for appetizers which came with this amazing sauce (made from scratch apparently) that we just couldn't get enough of. We even ordered another order of bread just to make sure the sauce didn't go to waste. I ordered the fish of the day special and it was pretty good. I've had this meal at other places, but this had a special kick to it.

Ordered feisty seafood boat. This was supposed to be a combination of shrimp, mussels, scallops and calamari. I got like 3 pieces of calamari, 2 scallops and 2 shrimps. Rest was a whole lot of mussels. Very Disappointed.

Nice staff but many recent changes. Prices have increased substantially, and less food is served. No longer provide bread for the tablet - former salad bar is now a la carte, and now you get either rice or potatoes whereas you used to get both previously. I personally think I could have made a better meal myself. Again staff is super sweet but we won't be visiting again.

I picked up 2 orders of 2 halibut & chips today. The batter wasn't as crisp as I like but I blame that on the time it took me to get it home. I was definitely happy with the portion size of the fish and the chips as well as the taste. All in all the food was tasty and I'll be back. Someone needs to create packaging to keep these types of food crisp until you get home lol.

Since my last visit in the summer I've seen a decline in both the quality of food and service. The portions used to be larger it's like they are cut in half now. The fish and chips were over cooked and hard. And the staff don't acknowledge special instructions with your food . Really disappointed. I used to look forward to eating here. I'll be going elsewhere next time. You'd swear the restaurant was under new management. Not worth the money. Terrible. My advice to anyone eat somewhere else if you want a quality meal.

THEY ARE VERY ARGUMENTIVE AND CLAIM ALL THEIR FOOD IS FRESH AND COOKED LIKEWISE.....THEY,, LIKE SO MANY THAT HAVE EAST INDIAN STAFF OR CHINESE, LIKE TO TAKE OVER AND DISH OUT LEFT OVER UNEDIBLE FOODS. EVERYTHING WAS EXPLAINED OVER THE TELEPHONE HOW THE FOOD SHOULD BE DONE AND THEY AGREED TO IT, YET GAVE BE UNEDIBLE FOOD. I AM DEMANDING A PORTION OF MY MONEY BACK, IF NOT ALL. Good quality food always nicely presented even if it's just a little pricey. The staff are very friendly and helpful with suggestions. Even the owners come and check on your table and see how everything is to your satisfaction. The decor is especially tastefully done with a nautical theme throughout. The salad bar is also very good as it is continuously being refreshed. Since I last reviewed the restaurant there has been a dramatic change Starting with the sale to three Sri Lankan owners who are actively tearing apart everything that made that restaurant so quaint. Their treatment of longtime full-time staff it's deplorable by cutting their hours salad bar is gone which was a big hit for a most out of the patrons and the food is turning more ethnic as time goes on which chases some of the regulars out. The rustic feeling of an old dockside restaurant with delicious and reasonably priced fare is gone. All in all I must give this restaurant now a one star.
