Fun experience but not much of a scottish feel to it. If you like whiskey then you'll be happy. Only 1 gin?? Scotland makes loads of gins. The food way too oily. Scotland is surrounded by water so lots of seafood. Not much there at the WB. Overall fine. Staff was great.

Didn’t try any of the food but I loved the atmosphere. It was much smaller than I expected it to be from the pics and vids I’ve seen online. They have a good selection of whiskey for both beginners and advanced tasters. Prices were reasonable, my gf and I each got a whiskey flight which lets you taste 3 diff whiskies for a flat cost. They offer 3 diff “levels” of samplers (flights) based on the price of the whiskey you want to try. I wasn’t overly impressed by the place but it was nice, cozy and quiet, a great date spot for after dinner.

Loved this little pub! We enjoyed warm seasoned olives, the whiskey tasting flight superb. Haggis was delicious ! Our waitress was so friendly. The chef came out to our table and chatted, we felt very welcome at this cozy spot.

I cannot say yes enough. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the wait staff was very friendly. I'm going to go back as soon as I can. There is an amazing alcohol selection, with 3 entire pages being dedicated to it on the menu. Food only has half that.

So this is an amazing Scottish themed bar in Sault Ste. Marie! So good, I’ve been back to attempt to try the entire menu. They also have an (untried...mostly) whiskey menu, and local microbrews on tap. On top of this the staff is amazing, AND they have great (smaller) live music. A must see.

Great drinks selection, and good food (scotched eggs were amazing). Seemed like I caught a busy night - new guy was obviously new to the job and maybe a bit light on staff (it happens sometimes so no judgement based off one visit). Glad we sat outside as inside was pretty noisy.

The food menu was short but the food was good. Who's going there to eat though this place is about the whisky. The atmosphere was great and the staff super friendly and welcoming. For someone looking for the scotch or whisky that you won't find at the LCBO this place is for you.

Excellent little spot for Sault Ste Marie, Not five star, it is the Sault after all, the location is not the greatest, besides that you should very much enjoy your time, the staff is friendly and helpful, and they have a good selection and presentation.

Great wee establishment. With Scotland running through my veins, i'm always looking for places to remind me of our time overseas. On our way home from out west, we decided to stay the night in The Soo. Both me and the wife were starving and decided to go out for a late lunch. Being in a pub kind of mood, I found The Whisky Barrel online, being a Scottish pub, and having very good reviews, it was a no Brainer. Coming from Alberta, where everything was open we forgot that Ontario was still on partial shutdown, however I must say, even though Covid regulations prevented us from going inside to enjoy our meal, the patio turned out to be a great experience. The waiter was very friendly, and helpful. Dunbar the owner came out and chatted with us for a while, what a pleasant young lad he is. I ordered the curry fries and scotch egg, all I have to say is the chef obviously knows how to work with flavors from Scotland, both were delicious. They have an amazing selection of whisky, which I had to try one of the premium brands that I would never buy a full bottle of, due to being so expensive at the lcbo. We enjoyed our lunch so much, that after an afternoon nap, we had to go back for dinner, which once again we were not disappointed. Can't wait to go back when everything is back to normal, and enjoy a night of some good drinking in this wee gem.

OMG! Not just a fun night out but an experience to cherish. Amazing food, drinks and service that's friendliness and fun raises the bar on service. Bangers and Mash, Scotch Eggs, truly English style fish and chips that are all to die for! Maple whiskey, spiced rum and delightful decor. I just want to go back every day and, at those prices, I could. But I'd get fatter and be an alcoholic in a week. This thing needs a sixth star!

We were there mid afternoon so we were the only ones. Dunbar was a great proprietor, greeter, waiter, bartender, chief cook and bottle washer. Food was excellent and the ale was cool enough. Very nice selection of whiskey. Ambiance was appropriately pub-like. If you could smoke a cigar it would be perfect. Will return on the slimmest of an excuse.

With a drink in hand and a smile in my face, I knew I'd be back for a meal next time I craved fish and chips for I heard it was to-die-for! Great atmosphere with a nice open concept. A wide selection of drinks to choose from along with some pub style food. At was a Friday night after work and the place filled up pretty quick with a diverse crowd of young and old. It was a little cooler than desired in there, only criticism I had.

Great scotch selection and prices. The food, however, was only ok. We had crossed an item off our bucket list visiting Scotland a couple years ago, and not once, even on lunch specials, were any portions ever that small, even miniscule by comparison. Ever had a tablespoon of potatoes? I have now. So personally, I loved the atmosphere, service, and even the Scotch prices, so will be back, I'll just eat elsewhere.

Service was ok girl was polite but spent more time on her phone at the bar fish and chips was very good but the rest was just ok scotch egg was terrible we got the bill except we didnt get a bill she just brought the machine with the total in it we got appetizers but no side plates the deep fried dills were warm outside but pickle was cool over all i was not to impressed but i would recommend the fish and chips

I was excited to check this place out after reading previous reviews. They follow covid protocols so if you aren't vaxxed or have issues with being asked to prove your vaccination status this is not the place for you. It is safe for those who want to have a pleasant and safe space. It went above and beyond my expectations which are rather high. The staff seemed happy to be there and it showed in the way they treated customers. The staff seemed as though they enjoyed where they work. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I purchased a t shirt and when I got to my parents house and tried it on it was too small. I called and asked if I could exchange for a larger size and they were happy to accommodate. Come for the whisky, stay for the service and purchase a t shirt!

Had the fish & chips which I enjoyed. Also a can of Tennents. Was both surprised and happy to find they offered Oban Little Bay highland single malt whiskey. Next visit, its the Scotch Pie. Only criticism was did not receive the "Bread and Marinated Mixed Olives" which comes with all mains.

Paid $18 which I feel is over priced based on what I received (2pcs were pretty small) May be fault of the delivery.. if I ever try it again.. maybe only dine-in is good.

Very poor service, way too loud for the room. Likely wont go back as the server (echo) is horrible. The other guy not as bad but no idea of customer service. As if they would rather do other duties or smoke or whatever than serve people drinks. 30 min drink service is not acceptable . especially at those prices. Try it. but be warned .
