REVIEWS OF Low & Slow Smoked Fusion BBQ IN Sault Sainte Marie

Good BBQ food with homemade sauces. I have tried the brisket twice and the pulled pork and pleased both times. The menu also has other southern American classics like chicken and waffles, Mac and cheese, corn bread, etc. The decor is a bit tired, but that is more a reflection of the location. It's nice to see some revitalization of the area and I will come back.

Chad Stevens (Coniking16)

I use to look forward to eating here when in town for work. The venue has changed 3 times over 5 years. The newest is small. The food use to be fresh in taste and texture. Feel like the brisket was reheated and dry compared to before. Too many changed and not for the best. Sad I wont recommend it anymore.

Great BBQ joint and friendly staff if your ever in the area check it out.

service and atmosphere are great. food was good. had the meat platter for 2 at 50 bucks. small samples of all the meat they do. everything all kinda tasted the same, chicken, pork, brisket, sausage and rib. meat was cooked fine. it was fresh and moist. but all flavours were masked by bbq sauce. heard a lot of good reviews but i wasn't blown away. i'd go back if someone else is paying.

A friend recomended we try this place and boy it did not dissapoint. Amazing meats, huge portions, great sauces, fabulous mixed drinks - in a cool, chill atmosphere in literally a house, best kind of hole in the wall gem there it

Man oh man, where do I start. There was a band playing the night that I went and they were absolutely delightful. It really set the mood for the food to come. We got the platter for four and it was EXCELLENT! the custom sauces that they had were out of this world. The ribs were amazing and the meat just fell off the bone when you bit into it. No shortage of sauce either! Definitely a place to go back to time and time again.

Friendly servers and good food. Beware their platter for two was designed for giants! Brisket was a favourite, as well as the corn bread and slaw. Appreciate how they’ve tried to make patio a comfortable place to dine.

Low & slow was such a nice find for us during our stay is Sault Ste Marie. The place is family run, and they were super busy when we went so service was a bit slow but the food was most definitely worth the wait. Over heard the staff taking about how they were almost sold out of everything at the end of the night and I am not surprised at all. Highly recommend getting the Pulled Pork Mac n’ Cheese and the Wafflewich. The portion sizing was good and were very filling. They were also very well priced. We can’t wait to go back to try more of their dishes!

I have been going here since they opened almost 6 years ago, and I have always loved the food. This was my first time eating since they moved to Queen St., and I was extremely disappointed. I called for pick up, when I got there, I received the wrong order so I went back to get the right one, which is fine because it does happen but All the food was cold because it was left out. My Bbq chicken was full of bones and fat (barely chicken), the shrimp tacos were super fishy tasting which was never an issue before, no sauce and didn't look great (they were my favourite in the past), and the fries were not seasoned at all. This is why I am changing my 5 star to a 2. This is the second time this has happened when ordering takeout. We definitely will not be ordering from here again, I hope they go back to the quality they had before.

Wow. If you like BBQ, this is the place. There is something for everyone on the menu. Brisket, ribs and beans were excellent, some of the best I've had. Tender and juicy. Good selection of homemade sauces if u like your meat with some Q sauce. Local beer on tap. Staff were great! Friendly and SMILEY! :). Great place!

This place is worth paying for a passport card if you are from the states. My boyfriend and I were in Sault Ste. Marie MI for a couple of days and saw this place when searching for dinner options. A quick drive over the bridge and it's right around the corner. Our waitress, who was the manager, was one of the most delightful people we have ever encountered. She recommended some great local beers, and jokingly warned me not to get the large order of poutine but I did it anyway! The food was very good and their house bbq sauces were awesome. We left full and happy, and bummed that this place is not closer to our home. A fantastic spot and hopefully we will make it back here!!

Very good BBQ! Delivered hot, and super tasty. Friendly service my pals. Defs going back when I'm in the dowtowns! -(^-^)-

My wife and I love the food here! Great meals and big portions! The meat is well prepared, flavourful, and mouth watering. You want to check this place out!

Lucas McFadden

Very friendly, personable staff. Restaurant was busy, but the wait staff seemed to have it managed. Kitchen was quick, food was wonderful, served hot and in reasonable time. I had the shrimp boil tonight, seems like a very simple dish, but dressed up. Good value. The flavour was there. Amazing visit, great food and staff. We will return.

This is the place to go for good BBQ food. If you have a craving for pulled pork, brisket, BBQ chicken you gotta check this place out. The pulled pork poutine is something special and my favourite item on the menu. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because I liked the original location of the restaurant better. The new location is better located geographically but I find it to be a bit small inside now. Outdoor dining is available in the summer months and it's quite nice to have a drink on the patio in the sun.

Paula

Low and Slow indeed! Low expectations as the server ran by myself and my mom and didn't even acknowledge us. Spoke to the server at the counter and asked for a table. She gestured to the patio. Lone server had disappeared. Here's where the 'slow' comes in; we sad down for ten minutes. Another couple of people sat down, lone server went straight to them took the drink orders and again didn't acknowledge us. We got up and left. I appreciate patience during covid times however this was disappointing.

I don't have tons of experience with American style BBQ, but what I do have experience with is well prepared, lovingly created food. This definitely fits the bill. I've been a semi regular customer since shortly after they opened their doors, and I can honestly say I've never had better BBQ. I've tried the stuff they bring in for Ribfest, and they're all gold medal competitive kitchens. I still think Low and Slow is better. I bring everyone I know when they come to visit.

Colleen Newman

Normally I'm a picky eater but me and my partner got the platter for two and I ate everything in sight! (Not to mention my partner who normally can eat things meant for two all by himself was full to the point we had leftovers) Would recommend to try a taste here!

Tabitha McCarl

A local favourite for good reason!! Absolutley CANNOT be beat pulled pork!! Their mac n cheese is perfection. I haven't tried much else other than their pulled pork because it is just TOO good to resist!!

Lauren Moore

I ordered off of Uber Eats from this restaurant and the quality was below par. $49 plus taxes for this? It was cold, small portions, no cornbread, and awful. The sausage tasted like it was old and the coleslaw smelled rancid. Maybe it’s because it was delivery, but still no excuse. Super disappointed in Low and Slow; I’ve always heard really good things.

Noella Upitis

Don't judge the chef on his landscaping skills (the outside patio hadn't seen any love for a couple of years or more!). Best jambalaya I have had EVER. British accented server was attentive and advised our party well on food choices (even gluten free). Wonderful food, good service...ignore the decor.

Rene Laframboise

Now, Hear this Sault Ste. Marie! This restaurant has been one of the best casual dining experiences I've seen in a long while. Exceptional BBQ menu, presentation, taste and portions. Our server was exceptional and explained the menu well. Three big eaters dined for about 25 dollars each food only with walk out treats to spare. If you like your BBQ varieties you won't do better than here.

Brooke Bechtel

Absolutely disgusting, I got the meat mountain. The pulled pork was pure fat, no meat at all!! Not to add, way too small of a portion for the money. So disappointed!! Couldn’t take another bite, GROSS!! 100% DO NOT recommend!!

James Chezepock

Great BBQ! The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. Little worried since the few times I’ve been here it’s been empty. Hopefully they get more business as this restaurant is great for the Sault. Every time I visit I plan to stop here for their home made sauces and amazing smoked meats. Recommend for anyone in the area!

We ate there the other night. The food was fantastic but the dining experience was definitely not. The "patio" doesn't look anything like the pictures. It had wobbly metal tables, and molded plastic chairs. The fencing was rough 2 x 4s. Nothing like the pretty picnic tables with umbrellas and nice fencing in the photos. We were told they no longer offer cocktails, nor real ice tea.The menu was half of what is posted online. Our pop was served in cans. And water in cheap plastic cups. Our dinners were served in cheap tin take away containers instead of on dishes. And we were given plastic spoons to eat with. (We had to ask for forks and knives - which were also plastic) This was not at all the dining experience we were expecting. As mentioned the food was delicious, so a good option for take out. But we won't be back for an in person meal.

Jocelyne Ward

Not sure what part of the menu counts as "fusion" but it is definitely BBQ! Portions were large, and I had left overs. Service was pretty slow. The restaurant was not busy but it still took a while for our food to come. There was also no one present to seat us when we arrived, but it is not a seat yourself establishment. I had the porketta and it was ok. Flavours were decent but it was dry in comparison to my experience with other porchetta. The succotash was more like a bean salad, and the collared greens were nothing special. I would eat there again, but not at the current prices.

Harman Singh

Amazing ribs. This is where you wanna be if you are craving ribs in this town. The price was reasonable and server was really nice.

Luke Caccamo

Just got back from a group lunch at Low n' Slow. The service was pretty good. The place was not really busy for a Friday at lunch. The waitress was friendly and helpful and helped me decide on the mountain of meet over the brisket. I hope we can agree that a mountain of meet should be big! I chose the brisket, ribs, and pulled pork for my meats. Issues 1: The portion was very small. This has to be the most expensive lunch they offer (or close to @ $30) but I am still very hungry. It was no mountain, that's for sure. Issue 2: For brisket I got one full strip of brisket and some off-cuts. Parts of it were chewy and hard. Not their best product Issue 3: For the ribs, I got one long side rib and lots gnarly cartilage in it and again, it was chewy in spots Issue 4: Kind of a repeat of issue 1, but man I am still really really hungry and my lunch meal with a water came to $33.90 with tax and the tip took it to over $38 FOR LUNCH! Save your money, the pricing hear is fine dinning and the food is family sit down. Its not bad, but its not great. It is a shame cuz this was a staple for me and this is the last straw.

Jim Reilly

If you like meat and spice, this is a mandatory stop! Jambalaya and poutine with Jerk Chicken are my 2 favs. Even the sides like Mac and cheese and beans are home cooked to perfection.

Jacinto Arreola

11-23-17 A group of us came here for dinner after seeing such highly praised reviews. Walking in the place looks amazing! Wait staff was friendly and quick. Unfortunately the food didn't live up to the hype. Generally when you get bbq/smoked meat you usually have smoke flavor in the meats with a couple of grill marks depending on whay you get. What we ended up was the opposite. Ordered a full rack of dry rub ribs and was eager to dig in. Once the plate hit the table I was disappointed from the look of it. Food looked & tasted as if it were cooked in a oven then kept warm under a lamp along with the sides. The dry rub was great but I wish there was actually smoke that could've tied everything together. Potential of having great food is here just lacking on the main part of what this place is supposed to be.

Desmond Hui

This ain’t it. Came in very excited to try the beef brisket, but after ordering the meat platter for 2, we find out they’re out of brisket. They rest of the meat were just okay. Ribs, BBQ chicken, jerk chicken, sausage, pulled pork were all not horrible but nothing to write home about. The one thing I’ll give them are the fries. Those are seasoned to perfection.

Randver Serence

Several years later, a pandemic, and multiple locations changes have left their mark on this once loved Sault staple. The food is a ghost of the you got to eat here in the glory days. Sad portions, bone dry , poorly executed cheap ingredients now clutter the menu. It's a real shame. Maybe there is still some life left in the coals that will hopefully reignite after the plague is behind us. For now steer clear of the smoke.

Mika Lindback

I ordered the Mephis Wontons and Shrimp Tacos. Tasted very good, presentation was good, and the wait time was acceptable. I'd definitely suggest ordering or dining in.

Jeff Cederwall

Excellent local joint with reliable barbecue, and wonderful staff. Excellent value for money plus they always play good music.

Leonel Ibarra

Very friendly people and good food, my family loved this place.

Majo Ferdinandus

Six of us ate at Low & Slow on Mother's Day. We arrived when it opened at 10 am to avoid crowds and because some of us had a very long drive home that day. It was nice to have a quiet place during that first hour. There is lots of choice for all ages and food preferences. We mistakenly thought the Caesar Bar meant salad but it is actually different types of caesar drinks. The mac and cheese was not very cheesy but the meat (sausages, pork riblets) was very good. All things considered it was a good experience. Staff were friendly and welcoming also.

Anita Reis

Saw you guys featured on"You gotta eat here", and knew we had to try it on our trip up from Kitchener to do the Agawa Canyon. We were not disappointed!! Wonton apps, corn bread, sweet mac and cheese, and jerk chicken poutine...all amazing... finished it by sharing the triple dessert...WOW! If you don't leave room for dessert, try the ice cream, anyway! Can't say enough about it... really!! Great experience!

Amy Good

Not our type of BBQ. Was not expecting cheese sauce with sausage and biscuits, cornbread portion was large but tasteless, corn was tough not tender. With multiple large groups the sole server was struggling to keep up but did her best. Exterior doesn't look like much but interior is super cute!

HOWARD NG

Great food. Ribs are tender and taste. Fish tacos with fries are cooked perfect. Jambalaya taste great with little spicy.

Barb Francisco

To the person who gave only 1 star I highly doubt your rating was fair. I have been all over and honestly this is my favorite restaurant minus a seafood restaurant in COCO Beach. If you had a problem with service or food I challenge you, you must not have complained as they always make right what went wrong. I once got not hot ribs and they were rectified immediately. That was my only mistake ever! In fact they went out of my way to make my birthday dessert for my entire family which they don't typically do. and that was last night! You must be a person with a grudge and not a person with a legit complaint! As I said previously awesome food and EVERYTHING is made from SCRATCH...baked beans are like my grandmas and i don't say that lightly, may she smile down on all of us. Decor maybe not the best but better than the previous location, and i go for the food not the decor!

Hunter Thompson

Relaxed and upbeat environment, good quality of food, excellent smoked meat. Just was somewhat let down by the execution on a few of my dishes and the overall bang for my buck seemed sligtly underwhelming for portion sizes. Poboy brisket needed to be more succulent from the slaw to the meat. Mac and cheese was superb.

Janice Lam

The BBQ was amazing, one of the best in town. I wouldn’t order the onion rings again though, they were subpar.

Jeremy Simms

I did not expect to find great BBQ this far north. My friends all got BBQ, but I ordered poutine with burnt ends on top. Mine was delicious. Everyone was happy. It's hard to find burnt ends outside Kansas City, but this place has them.

richard smith

The food is amazing !!! Home Smoked meats. What else do you want. Before pic and after 5 mins lolll

Don Ostrom

Who would have thought that you can find a place like this in Sault Ste Marie? I am not a huge fan of hot spiced food. I enjoy a medium heat and spice flavour. I ordered the Jambalaya after asking how hot it was. I was told not too bad but it does have some heat. I was not disappointed. There was so much flavour and a great portion (probably a bit too much but my stomach did not say no). We have now found a second go to restaurant for when we travel to the Soo!

Rickey Bonk

We just had the most incredible dinner best bbq in a long time. Olivia waited on every table and was incredible. We had the dinner for two and it was huge. Every bite was better then the last. Do not leave Sault St. Marie without going here.olivia even figured out what we could take on the Agawa train trip for lunch tomorrow can not wait to eat the pulled chicken!!!

Went here last night at around 7:30pm. It was a really slow night; at first we were the only two customers. Service was good, but the food was cold. I was going to send it back, but after having waited for a cab to get to the restaurant for 1.5hrs, I didn’t really want to wait any longer. We had the $50 platter and added the Jerk chicken and the Porketta. It all tasted OK, but wasn’t great. The menu says sampler size, and that’s all it is. 1 rib, 1 slice of brisket, a small piece of sausage, and a chicken drumstick each.

Tish Jeffers-Cort

I would give this establishment 3.5 stars. I ordered my food to go. I ordered the pulled pork poutine. Everything tasted fresh however the meat and gravy had 0 flavour not even salt. They didn't even include salt in the bag. However, I will say the execution of what they're trying to do is good, I feel a little salt a seasoning would make the dish a 5 star dish because without it the poutine isn't worth the price.

Carla Salt

The food took a long time to come out and was luke warm. Mac and cheese was a little cold and macaroni was cooked too long. Corn was mediocre. Most of the meat was delicious and flavorful. Servers were pleasant. Sweet tea was nice.

Carrie Jones

The food all had incredible flavour and was cooked to perfection. We had the platter for two, with a taste of everything and nothing disappointed. It was all delicious. We couldn't leave without trying the sampler cheesecake for dessert. Both flavours are equally amazing! The service was great as well. Very friendly and the perfect balance of making sure that you're being taken care of without being in your face all the time. I will be definitely be reccomending this restaurant to my friends and family.

Bernice Dettorre

I ordered the brisket. It was served perfectly trimmed! The meat was very tender and flavourful. The "Standard Sauce" was a delicious addition for me. I tried all 4 sauces and they were all great! Now, let's talk about that Mac and Cheese. They have figured it out! It was one of the best ones that I have had!! Ate as much of it as I could and I still have leftovers for a midnight snack. Of course I sampled the ribs! They melted in your mouth...and the sauce!!!! Would have loved a LOT more of it because of how tasty it was. I recommend trying this...you will want to go back!

Constance Cantin

The shrimp boil, jambalaya and ribs were delicious. The grits in the shrimp and grits tasted like polenta not grits. The service was excellent. Very friendly and attentive server. Will definitely return, but won't have the grits. We have had grits in the southern US that were very good, especially the cheesy grits.

umesh tailor

We bought meals today from this place. Because of its popularity but what was disappointing is that their French fries were burnt and were not to their expectations of popularity of this restaurant. Guys improve on your French fries. I gave 2 stars because I think they can do better on their fries.

Tina Larson

Nice place and worth the stop. I got half rack ribs, which is really only 3 full ribs... not half a rack. However it was a good size portion, I left happy and not overly full. They were good, I couldn't taste any smokey flavor and I wouldn't say they were fresh off a grill or pit. The slaw I had was fair as was the fries.

bob vance vance

I've driven across this country 3 times pre-pandemic as a Moderator for a prominent backpacking forum, I still recommend this spot. I'm glad you have survived

Jessica Hellsten

We ordered the pulled pork poutine and jambalaya. Absolutely amazing food. Very friendly staff.

Lori Toljan

We have eaten here about 4 times on our way through to Thunder Bay a nice smoked meat restaurant one of our favourite places while in Sault Saint Marie my children went with us last time and they were pleased as well they have moderate prices and you can also get share order options on the menu, let me warn you before if you order the poutine it is a 5 lbs order the restaurant is dark and I did not read the bio to the size of poutine and I added a picture.

sguan77

Ordered a meal for dinner last evening in the restaurant. I waited over 45mins before getting the food. Should have asked how long it would take getting the order. The ribs was dry and did not have much taste. The portion of collard greens was tiny. Mac and cheese's cheese had too much flour. Super dispointed! The lady in charge was rude. No one in restaurant smiled when I was there. Definitely not a friendly place.

Denise Fournier

The food the service just amazing. I travel for two hours just to eat there.
