This place is a dining staple in town. I've never had a bad meal here. Easily one of the top three places in town for steak prepared to perfection. They also feature exotic meats and game from the to time, so the options are also interesting. Shane and his staff take care to nail all the details from start of service to the end. An excellent wine and spirits selection, and they support the local craft breweries. Dining here is a pleasure and I've made it my birthday destination for four years in a row.
It was good but not great for the prices they charge. We were a party of 5 sat at a round table big enough for 8 which made conversation difficult and uncomfortable. The service was ok but nothing special once again for the price. The highlight of the meal was actually desert.
Embers is easily one of my favourite places to go on a date in the Soo. I've had many dishes and have never been disappointed. Very high quality and always exceptional service. I highly recommend the smoked duck breast salad.
Great little place! Found it because of a construction detour. Had lunch and drinks. Clean, great food & service! I will come back.
Great food and great service. Been there many times and always enjoyed the meal.
It was with one of my colleagues who had been to Embers before. The restaurant has a really warm and homelike feel and really love the Farm to Table concept they have. Let's start by saying the food is fresh and sourced from many local farms which ads to the quality of the food. awesome
Great food, great service, Waitress was wonderful. Will definitely come back when I'm in town
Amazing food, resonable prices and friendly staff. A must, if travelling to the Soo.
Tasty food and a nice atmosphere If you're into smoked BBQ this is the place to go. I highly recommend Embers to BBQ lovers
This is more of an upscale place. Very nice. We just had a couple of beers and the riblet appetizer. The inside had white tablecloths while the outside seemedmore casual.
Had a great time and a great meal with my wife here. Great steak, great pasta. Good service. Beautiful location. Nothing in the Soo like it
I had probably the single best meal of my life here. If not the best def top 3. Everything was incredibly fresh, delicious, made with skill and care. My girl wanted her NY off the bone so they sliced it and brought it out with an amazing presentation. The Brie and apricot app was outstanding. Service was great, atmosphere was quiet, peaceful, romantic. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could.
Very nice gem. Food was prepared in a superior way. Although it wasn't pretentious. The trout had a slight maple crust and was served over baby bok choy. So good. The steaks were excellent. We even had kangaroo served over mushroom risotto. I'd go back over and over.
Never been disappointed!! Sophisticated ambience, courteous service, and consistently excellent food... I would highly recommend you check it out for yourself!! Try the Smoked Meatloaf!!!!
Awesome food. The waitresses are always awesome. Olivia is so nice. That chocolate torte is life.
Service here is always top notch and the the food is fantastic. Everything is made in house from local ingredients and you can tell. The menu has some updated steakhouse classics and some exotic imported meats (I've tried camel, kangaroo, and ostrich) if you're feeling adventurous. Great place to grab a great and reasonably priced lunch or a higher end dinner. Definitely one of my favourite places in town.
Fantastic food, fantastic atmosphere. The Chefs refuse to cook any beef or similar meat beyond medium. I think that shows how much they really care about the customer having the best food experience possible. This is our default restaurant for all our special occasions.
I'd give it five stars but there was a mistake with my food.. but it was corrected beautifully. Kangaroo, Bison, Monk Fish features, after mussels with capers and dill, and smoked duck, finished with peach creme Brule. We were seated in the bar area and the staff behind the bar should be reminded that voices carry (not our server).
Hands down the best steak I've had. Before I even started chewing it had already melted in my mouth. That is all that needs to be said..lol
Very lovely atmosphere open n inviting. Food was fabulous with loads of flavour. Staff was pleasant and friendly.
Incredible service, and even better food! We had the rainbow trout and T-bone steak. Both were excellent.
Have always loved our dine in experiences here, truly top notch. But now they have also really wowed us with their take out. Large portions and so super tasty you can't go wrong
Absolutely fantastic! Steak was cooked perfectly. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go again.
Fantastic food and staff!
food is good and service is fantestic, but if u want to get a value dinner, this place will not be a good choice cuz the price is not very fit for its portion. However i got a good experience here.
The best meal I’ve ever had. I’ll start by saying that I stopped into this restaurant on the way through town driving from Alberta, I saw this place had good reviews and stopped in a shirt and jeans. I didn’t realize it was a fancy restaurant but the staff assured me it was okay and made me feel comfortable, the dining room is beautiful! The server was friendly and accommodating. I got the meatloaf and mashed potatoes as it was admittedly the cheapest thing on the menu as I wasn’t aware it was so high class. IT BLEW MY MIND. It was increadible, never in a million years did I think meatloaf would be the best thing I ever ate. It was soo good I had to get a dessert to see if it matched and I am happy to say it did. If I’m ever around this area again I will make a point of coming here ( with a little more change in my pocket) to taste some of the dry aged steaks. Also forgot to mention the farm to table aspect that I love to see in restaurants, they have a list of all the places they get their produce and meat from local places.
The food is excellent! They've recently opened and they do a fantastic job. Also it is very nice inside!
Great food... beautiful presentation! Size of the beef is huge! The Chicken and Gnocchi was kind of small, though delicious. Cute cozy ambience. And you can purchase the wall art as well.
My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful meal. Service delightful, meal extraordinary, delicious Ontario wine. We had pork chop and kangaroo tenderloin. Both were beyond belief. Definitely 5.0 on all accounts!
On my way to thunderbay, spending the night at SSM. Juicy steak and fine wine. Super friendly staffs. Will definitely return if i'm in town again.
Nice atmosphere and good tasting food. The servers are attentive and friendly.
We had steak, full ribs and 2 kids meal steak, a cocktail, a glass of red, a liquored coffee and creme brulee, the whole meal was $200 for 2 kids 2 adults. Food was great. They took their pride in steak, special of the day also had kangaroo, bison but we didn't try. Food was from local Ontario farmers, even ketchup was home made. Good vibe, good staff and great food. The only decent dining place we could find in Sault. 10mins drive from downtown.
Delicious food. Quality dining. This is definitely a restaurant to put on your list to experience.
A Memorable Meal!! I had the opportunity to visit Embers for a business dinner. It was with one of my colleagues who had been to Embers before. The restaurant has a really warm and a very homelike feel and I really love the Farm to Table concept they have. Let's start by saying the food is fresh and sourced from many local farms which ads to the quality of the food. You can also get wild game when it's featured. That night there was Kangaroo and Wild Boar on the menu. I went for the Tenderloin as I wanted to try a different cut of beef.. Our group had many dishes that night including some seafood and duck wings?? Anywho, like most farm to table places they change up the menu every few months. My meal was exceptional, I wish I had brought a better camera with me as the presentation was a work of art. All the food washed down with a great bottle of Barolo was a success. Everyone loved their food. This restaurant certainly left an impression on me as I will be back if I'm in the area again.
Best steak ever! Ordered 22oz. Smoked T-bone...just phenomenal. My wife had Applewood smoked chicken supreme with gnocchi. Was delicious but chicken portion a tad small. Great place to dine...must try one of their Ember Caesar's as well..so good!
Beautiful indoor restaurant and event space with lots of space and big windows. Held a bridal shower here some time ago, in accordance with the restrictions at that time. It's a great space because it offers both an indoor area and an outdoor covered patio, so in case restrictions changed, we could move the event outdoors. The on-site event planner Megan was very knowledgeable and abundantly helpful. We planned the majority via email: going over seating arrangements, menu options, etc. Before the event, we were able to set up and move around the branch boxes to make a lovely backdrop and open up the space. The food, as always, was delicious and the raspberry lemonade sangria was a favourite.
Expensive but extremely worth it! The beers were excellent as well. I would not recommend the meatloaf though. Get a steak.
The food is so fresh and professionally prepared from the scratch. The service is perfect.
It was my first time going to Embers, the meal (chicken) I had was delicious. I'm giving a 2-star rating, I wish I could give a 2.5-star rating. My friend ordered a medium rare steak and her steak was definitely rare. By the time they fixed their mistake our table had finished eating our meals. When she finally got her steak it was still rare. She was very disappointed and ate very little. Our other friends had also mentioned the prices went up and the food portions got smaller. It wasn't the worst experience, but I've paid less for plates with better service.
Good food and friendly service. Be sure to ask about the dinner specials, they change frequently and can be somewhat exotic. Kangaroo anyone?
Amazing every time. Highly recommend the sampler. Of course, entree and dessert should not be skipped.
Had higher expectations based on all the reviews. Nice space with lot's on the menu. Understaffed, just 1 server trying her best to do everything so.. not her fault. We waited far too long. Ordered a cocktail from their menu while waiting but it was obvious that she wasn't experienced in making it. Finally got seated and ordered our meals which were average at best. Our only visit there so..Could have been an off day. Price didn't reflect the quality or overall experience imo.
My husband and I went to Embers for the first time last week, we have always heard good reviews about this place so we had to check it out for ourselves. The high expectations we had we not high enough! the food was DELICIOUS to say the least and the service was excellent. Dinner was worth every dollar. We will absolutely be back and we can now give amazing reviews ourselves! :)
Very good service, but the food and the place in general is not one of the best in SSM. It could be improved. The wine price almost triple the market price, food quality and quantity does not fit the price.
Based on a recommendation from a local Sault Ste. Marie shop owner, we walked to this restaurant from an Airbnb we are staying in downtown. Our dinner was really fantastic. Service was great, both attentive and very friendly. The setting warm and comfortable, in small separate rooms. The menu offered a good variety of locally sourced food. And everything was incredibly well prepared. We started with one dozen Atlantic oysters, served with lemon and the restaurant’s balsamic hot sauce. They were fresh and well shucked, and very tasty, although one of the 12 likely should not have been served (it was a bit funky looking and tasting).
Really good restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie. Good portions and great food for the money, can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
The food was great! We loved it! Unfortunately we were in a bit of a rush as we were driving across country and just stopped in town for dinner, so waiting such a long time for food wasn't what we had planned. But that food was great, and a nice change from the food we had been eating along the way. We would definitely go back!
Best ribeye I've ever had
Priçey but wèll worth it. Located in an old house, Embers is the perfect venue for a romantic date. They have a very decent sized menu with a number of interesting selections e.g. water buffalo. I had the PEI mussels appetizer which was so generous in size I was unable to eat more than a few mouthfuls of my entreé and ended up having to take it home with me. They are fully licenced. The house white wines are a Chardonnay and Pinot, both were lovely. Service was excellent. Because the venue is an intimate size, I would recommend reservations. Free parking on site.
Travelling from Toronto. The chef defintely has solid cooking skill, I ordered medium T-bone and it is just evenly medium cooked, awesome. And the materials they used is pretty distinct from the regular meat you would eat at other steakhouse, amazingly soft. Great for meat lover. The only downside is the taste is little bit light for me, maybe more salty would be better but it absolutely varies by different people's flavor.
The staff was friendly, food was tasty but it took a long time and the meatloaf was a little dry.
Excellent service, beet salad was incredible, meatloaf was delicious, hanger steak was a little tough, crumble and creme brule were delicious. Was a little shocked to be charged for butter for my baked potato.
For the third year in a row our fishing trip to Ontario has launched with an evening meal at the Embers. This year was exceptional with angry seafood and various steak entrees. Sides and salads were on point. Service by our wait person (Haley) was above and beyond expectations. She was very knowledgeable of all menu offerings and steered some undecideds in the right direction. Will be looking forward to our next trip in August 2018.
A charming, rustic and romantic atmosphere. Had escargot appetizer and the wild meat sampler. Both were exquisite.
I had heard a lot of good things about Embers before going there, but was really disappointed with the experience. I ordered the 65$ porterhouse steak to medium rare, but the cook was definitely rare. I understand that it is a thick steak, but the texture of the rare steak was not pleasant and made the steak difficult to chew. When I told the server, Brittany, that the cook was too rare and that I am going to go home and cook it more, she did not respond. I wound up having to pack the steak home and finishing it in the oven myself.
Amazing food, service and views ..????
Wonderful meal, melt in your mouth striploin and delicious amaretto cheesecake
My favourite place in town for seafood. Locally owned, great views of the golf course. Would highly recommend
I got the Alligator Gumbo, and my friend got a 24ounce steak. My food was awesome, and he wouldn't stop talking about it the entire walk back to the car. The table next to us got the rainbow trout and it looked amazing. Its farm-to-table too! Priced as i would expect for excellent food.
Great food as always!! It's always great to come back and get treated like family.
This restaurant was a far cry above the rest.. fantastic steaks. Tenderloin was like butter and the atmosphere was wonderful. Highly recommended.
Enjoyed a fabulous meal at Embers On The Ridge!!! It was a quiet, comfortable and spacious setting, with great friends and excellent service. This was a great experience and I am encouraging you to try it out. You will not be disappointed!
Great food choices. Lunch menu prices comparable to other restaurants but quality surpasses most. Delicious homemade soups. Never had a bad meal here. Friendly and helpful staff. Good for quiet dining with a friend to just relax and catch up. Also good for a group.
If you haven’t tried the salmon do yourself a favour and run to this restaurant! Delicious!!
We had a wonderful dinner and exceptional service. Thank You Staff of Embers.
Love Embers! The soups are amazing, food is so fresh, servers so friendly and the ambiance is perfect!
One of the best restaurant meals we've ever had!
Really good food. Nice atmosphere. Excellent wait staff. Coolest feature is the strong focus on, and support of, local farmers. Its great to know your food was grown right down the road. Highly recommended.
Embers is class. Expect incredible food, and some exotic options. Everything is exceptional, eligent and exquisite. Expect to pay top dollar for the top quality meal. All foods, sauces and garnishings are paired perfectly. Embers would be the perfect place for a proposal or a special night out.
Absolutely top notch restaurant. Perfectly prepared farm to table offerings that change based on what’s in season. Fantastic place not to be missed.
Great place to eat, the duck salad with blueberry dressing is amazing! We had the pork pull and the cold meat sandwiches
After a long drive today I was craving Sushi. We arrived ordered our drinks and then asked the server some allergy questions, a snarky response sent us looking for another restaurant. Driving around Sault St Marie we saw this little restaurant. Unsure but hungry we decided to stop. Best decision this far. I have a few allergies and they accommodated each one without question including celiac. Our server was amazing. She didn't miss a beat and the food was outstanding. You don't leave hungry... the portions are huge. The dog is going to be in heaven when we get back to the trailer. I recommend anyone living in, visiting or passing through rats here. #yougottaeathere
Hands down best food in the Sault! Would definitely recommend it. The chef knows how to present his dishes an the flavors are impeccable!
Always so delicious! I went for lunch with my family and we all enjoyed every bite of our gourmet smoked turkey sandwiches and butternut squash maple soup mmm.
We recently enjoyed a lovely birthday meal at Embers. The meal was delicious, the service fantastic. Never a disappointment! Thank you Chef Shane and team.
Words are not enough. The food and service are excellent. Everyone has to try this place at least once. Craig Napper The blue door bistro. Thunder bay on
Phenomenal! Seriously...everything was excellent and beyond what we had expected. The tasting appetizer was enough for 2 people and the flavour combinations were so good! We all ended up sharing bites of everything as a result...Kangaroo tenderloin with Risotto, beet and goat cheese salad. 3 had Caesar salad and they said it was the best they ever had! Meatloaf had a great spice combo too and was a very generous portion. Ask to sit by the window so it will be more quiet. Must try and we all agreed that we would go back for sure!
Superb meal with dessert to coincide. Overall a great eating experience!
Wow! I'm a Toronto guy. Toronto has some great restaurants! This place is AMAZING by any restaurant standard. Anthony Bourdain level excellent!!!. Excellent service. Excellent presentation ( cheese meat tray to die for).... perfect!!!! Mark Cameron MB, MSM, WOW! ;-)
Fantastic dining experience and food!!!
Wonderful meal excellent service very reasonable price!!
Great service, great food, excellent atmosphere
The Bacon-wrapped Smoked Meatloaf dinner is one of the best things I have ever eaten! Unbelievable presentation! This chef LOVES what he does. Can't wait to return.
Absolutely exceptional dining experience. Anniversary dinner last night. This is one of the Sault’s finest dining restaurants. Don’t pass this up if you get a chance to try it.
Amazing service and atmosphere. You get what ya pay for people!!!!! It is worth every cent....will be back
Wonderful decor, atmosphere and staff. Brittany was awesome and showed me the ropes on my first oyster. Wonderful menu with kangaroo, elk and buffalo oh my! Definately worth it. Thank you!
Took chance on Water Buffalo because of mushroom risotto....water buffalo had amazing flavor but regretfully there was enough grizzle to make me stop eating after the 5th bite....the mushroom risotto was the biggest disappointment. I was so excited to have the risotto and if prepared properly I would have forgiven the water buffalo. The mushroom risotto was soupy. Service excellent....dessert was offered to make amends but I passed....the owner did give a discount on the meal.
Excellent food! Gluten free options Excellent service. One of my favourite restaurants.
I took my wife and a friend to dinner. My wife ordered a scallop skewer and got a shrimp skewer instead. No big deal as she also likes shrimp, but nothing but an apology. I ordered the pickerel dinner but am not fond of hollandaise sauce, so asked the waiter to not put it on the fish. It came with it all over the fish and everything else on the plate. I couldn't eat any of it. Their solution, a piece of cheesecake. I did call them a couple of days later to seek a better resolution, but no one bothered to call me back. I understand the waiter was new and I didn't punish him. I still left a nice tip, but management should have at least compensated my meal back.
