Every dining experience here is better than the last. I don't know how they continue to keep outdoing themselves. Luigi is fabulous. He is attentive, listens to the table, and never lets a glass run dry. He always seems to know what your soul is in need of. Even when we are a quirky crew of vegetarians, gluten free, and a nut allergy. Regardless of all the quirk at the table we all left with a full belly and wondering when we can come back for more!

I’ve been to MANY Italian restaurants, but this place is definitely at the VERY top of my list! Service: Luigi and Norma served us. They treated us like family. Simply old style service, where they connect with the customer. Incredible service! Cleanliness: it was extremely clean. All plates and napkins were like brand new, the restaurant was extremely clean and the washrooms too. Food: wow! We had appetizers that were fresh and unique. Bruschetta and grilled mushrooms and peppers. Followed by gnocchi. These gnocchi were homemade and fresh, the best I’ve ever had in a delicious authentic rose sauce with a touch of chili flakes for flavour. Nice touch. Then, they completed the dinner with incredible grilled steak and grilled mushrooms. Desert was homemade fresh fried donuts. Another unique masterpiece. Overall: this place deserves more than 5 stars. The entertainment from Luigi and the food are on another level. A must for anyone wanting authentic Italian dining.

The restaurant itself is very classy. The servers were more than accommodating and very friendly. The food was nothing short of spectacular! My 7 year old daughter cleaned her entire plate (which is unheard of), and my wife hasn't stopped talking about how amazing the meatballs were. I will be back many more times I'm sure!

Overall just ok. To start with, it took over an hour just to take our order. No bread was offered (as is expected and very common in Italian restaurants) and wasn't even listed on the menu. Once our order was taken, it didn't take long to get our food. Food had a lot of flavour but something tasted off like too salty or too cheesy (arancini) or too lemony (arrabbiata) or too much sugar (sugar). Oh another thing, we mentioned that it was our friend's birthday but the waiter completely ignored it. I was expecting a "happy birthday" but she didn't even get that.

I have been to La Cucina twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. I have thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambiance and service both times. The food has great flavour and the presentation is impressive. Service at lunch was very quick, while evening dining was at a more casual pace. The donuts are to die for. My new favourite restaurant downtown.

This place is truly a fine gem. It was an excellent choice for my wife's birthday celebration. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the food is amazing and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. We were lucky enough to have Garrett as our server for our first dining experience at La Cucina. He has very thorough knowledge of the menu, made excellent food and wine pairing suggestions, and had impeccable timing. Garrett and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make sure my wife felt special and important on her special day. I can't thank them enough for that. All in all it was a fine dining experience that exceeded our expectations by far and we look forward to returning for another evening in the near future. Try the salmon bruschetta appetizer and the veal shank entre accompanied with risotto. You will not be disappointed.

we went out for our mother’s birthday dinner. Everything was delicious. We had the tuna crudo and I normallly don’t like tuna, but this was so delicious. We had a lot of appetizers as well as pasta. The white truffle risotto was amazing. We all had a great time. Can’t wait to go again.

I'd like to start that chef speaks Italian and that's a great thing when you go to Italian restaurant! Atmosphere was comfortable and that classic music just made it better. It wasn't busy at 7ish pm on Thursday, there were only 1 other table of 3 people. Chef came up and offered authentic way of dinning out: he offered wine and starters (some of his out of the menu creations of the day), after he offered main dishes and a dessert; we didn't really check the menu, it was how it supposed to be - you are coming for a good time and the service that nobody offers. Plates were big and food was delicious. We were sharing for 2 people, so main dishes were perfect med rare steak with cauliflower and seafood pasta with tomato sauce. Huge portion of tiramisu made us completely full and satisfied. If you are driving through downtown check that place. Highly recommend

OMG!!!...What a hidden Gem in downtown Saskatoon! Norma our host and bartender gave the best drink suggestions including the "smoking" godfather!!! Don our server clearly explained every dish. The pasta is made in house fresh daily. The braized veal shank was my favorite dish. So many authentic Itallian dishes to try will definately be coming back!!!

ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW! I guarantee you this is the best Italian spot in Saskatoon. Everything tasted fresh and home made. Highly suggest the Gnocchi they literally melt in your mouth and the Chicken Parmesan is extra zesty. We also really enjoyed the eggplant, what a tasty way to start the meal with a little red wine. Best part is the staff, I mean common their names are literally Luigi and Mario, that’s when you know you have perfection for Italian Cuisine. Beautiful cozy atmosphere and Norma took amazing care of our table. Highly recommend!!!

Wow! This place is a treat for the tastebuds. Amazing dishes that are well balanced, packed with flavor, and beautiful to look at. Prices are a bit high but the dishes are well worth it. Atmosphere was lovely. Quiet and relaxed. Our waiter Luigi was a ton of fun as well. He really rounded out the experience for us. Highly recommend this place for a celebration meal or a date night. Dined here with friends a few nights ago and the experience was amazing! The service was topnotch. The gentleman who was serving us that night was superb. He took care of our needs as well as putting in great interaction with the guests. The place has an inviting ambiance. The menu offers selections from appetizers, pasta, steaks, etc. Food tasted delicious and so as the drinks! Some opted for the Sangria while I got the Old Pal. Excellent experience! Will definitely be back!

The smoked salmon and the steak were the kinds of things you think about endlessly after you finish a meal. They were perfect. The gnocchi was also very good, had a zip that I enjoyed but might be too spicy for some pallets. I found the calamari to be a bit over-done, and the dessert that I had was bland (sorry, don't remember what it was.) It was very pricy but I don't think it was unreasonable for a special occasion. The owner and server were both attentive and full of personality. Atmosphere was relaxing and classy.

We had a well deserved date night last night. We chose La Cucina. We walked in and the atmosphere is just so inviting. Luigi was cooking last night but that didn't stop him from talking to all the guests ensuring their meals were what they loved. He recommended our entire meal. We had several dishes that weren't on the menu and we weren't disappointed. He cans his own peppers and they were amazing. My wife and I had an amazing meal at Cucina this past Saturday. Love the space and the ambience there. We had the roasted artichoke dish, the truffle zuppa, meatballs, cannelloni, porchetta agnolotti with veal stock glaze, crispy duck, and lemon olive oil cake with cumquats. Everything was perfectly cooked with good textural components, great flavours and seasoning. Service was attentive and excellent. Chef Jesse Zuber blew away my expectations as usual: the pasta dishes were flawless and full of variety and superb ingredients, great wine list to suit and also enjoyed our cocktails to start, and finally we were absolutely floored by the dessert! Best chocolate dish I've tasted in years. Staff were warm and welcoming, and the prices were very affordable. I will be back for sure in the immediate future, this is exactly the Italian experience Saskatoon has been needing!

Our experience was not what we were expecting. We wanted a quiet night out to catch up with close friends. That was not made possible with how chatty our waiter was. Our appetizers were delicious but our main meals were disappointing. The pasta special was plain and flavorless. The "prawn" risotto had 6 miniature shrimps in it. The pasta bolognese had a sweet unsettling flavor to it. The staff and owner were friendly but the food was just not up to par for the price. Will not be going back as there are many better italian restaurants in town.

Me and my girlfriend went here March 13th for our one year anniversary and we're blown away. The food, drink, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. The atmosphere was classy with nice space between tables. The dim lighting was perfect and the music was loud enough to muffle other tables conversations without affecting our conversation. Our server, Garret (spelling?), was excellent and provided recommendations for each course and drink. He is one of the finest servers in Saskatoon; I'd trust his recommendations for any meal! We both had a Godfather cocktail before the meal and enjoyed it thoroughly. The recommended wine was a great pairing for our meals as well. As for the food - it was some of the best Italian either of us have eaten. We started with the Bruschetta and Gamberia alla Diavolo (shrimp) and they were both fantastic. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and both dishes had great flavour. For mains we shared Rigatoni alla Boscaiola and the Osso Bucco and were blown away by both dishes! The veal shank fell of the bone and was served with a rich parmesan risotto while the pasta was deep in flavour with a beautiful pasta sauce. We didn't have room for dessert and ended up packing up half the meal but Norma gave us both two departing shots/dessert drinks called Norma-chellos that were delicious. We will definitely be back!

Very unassuming from the outside but it has a very warm atmosphere once you get inside. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive and their gnocchi in mushroom sauce is delicious. Returned to la cucina as we have always enjoyed the food ,atmosphere and ambiance, tonight was totally different and very disappointed, we waited 45 min for a bruschetta starter and a further 40 min for main meal, the place had no atmosphere and whereas previously light easy background music, was replaced with what was definitely not background music and was turned up so loud me and my wife could hardly hear each other across table. Luigi was not there and when asked were told abruptly he doesn’t serve here anymore, the place was cold and unwelcoming and service was average at that. The server speaking and laughing with another table whilst my wife was waiting for the drink he had in his hand , very disappointed with this as we thought we had found our ideal place to eat out will not be going back in a hurry if at all. The two stars were for the food alone as it was decent just service and atmosphere were not worth a star

We visited La Cucina for dinner with a party of four last weekend. The décor is modern yet elegant and we were impressed with every aspect of our experience. We were received warmly as soon as we entered the restaurant and our server Tony maintained a high level of service throughout the evening. The menu is traditional but not intimidating. They provide some great Italian dishes especially for those that want to venture outside of alfredo sauce and chicken parm. The stuffed calamari in particular was a table favorite, and the cocktails the bar tenders created were outstanding; I’ve never been offered a boulevardier in the city and they made it perfectly. Mario has created a beautiful environment to share meals among friends and loved ones, the experience provided by him and his professional staff is unrivaled in Saskatoon. Our visit to La Cucina was warm and intimate and truly an experience. I would encourage everyone to go and experience what true hospitality looks like. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. My mother and I came here and we are not the easiest people to please at restaurants. Everything was spectacular, the service, ambience, and food. Luigi was our server and chef and he personally recommended each dish we ate and it was perfection. We started with the bruschetta and "diablo" shrimp which were so fresh and tasty. Then we shared the house made gnocchi. Chef Luigi brought out some uncooked Gnocchi to show us he had just made and rolled it by hand(!!!!) before cooking it to serve to us. I wish we had more room in our stomachs to have a second main and dessert, but that is a good reason to come back (again and again). Luigi also recommended drinks with our dinner and it was one of the best martinis the Malbecs I have ever had. 11/10 would recommend this place.

We decided to to have a special supper ,it was our anniversary. We looked at the reviews they seemed to be very good , and was so pleased to finally get in. Our waiter was very nice we placed our order. It was the appetizer, itook about 3/4 of an hour too finally get to the table , I was very hungry. The appetizer was very good once we finally got it. Then we waited for our meal . Over two hours , that was insane. When qe finally got our meals we were a bit disappointed. Maybe I was expecting more. But I do no I will not go back. It's was a disappointing experance .

I dont typically write reviews but I felt this situation should be brought to the attention of the public and the designated health authorities. Surprised this restaurant got 4.9 star. Foods were mediocre-a tad salty..DID NOT FOLLOW COVID -19 SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES AT ALL! My fiancé and I were dining with a SENIOR, the waiter sat 2 teenagers directly to the table on our right hand side and a couple on our left Hand side. There's only about 1.5 feet between each table! Melanwhile several tables elsewhere in the restaurants were left open! This distance would have been uncomfortable even before covid! Staff members including our waiter were taking shots at the bar on the job--- very unprofessional. Towards the end of the night he seemed a bit drunk already and embarrassed the 2 teenagers who were likely on their first date! Furthermore, our waiter didnt wear a mask at all time! Actually he approached the table standing close to the senior and pulled his mask down to talk to us! --- kinda defeated the purpose of wearing a mask dont you think!? Hard to believe this is what I got from eating at a fine dining restaurant.

We planned on visiting this restuarant for quiet awhile but between covid restrictions and our clash in schedule it wasn't possible until today (my partners birthday). Luigi asked if we would be comfortable in allowing him to choose the food for the evening and having him serve it family style. We agreed. His choices of starters, mains and desserts were amazing. La Cucina was a wonderful surprise. Luigi brought us out a spectacular 7 dishes without us even having to look at a menu. Shrimp, Arancini, risotto, lamb, steak, gnocchi, Italian donuts and peanutbutter pannacotta. It was seriously amazing. The food was great, service outstanding and Luigi the owner is so friendly! I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now - it really lived up to my expectations and beyond. Don was amazing, very patient, answered every question and was very knowledgeable about the menu. My friends and I had the most wonderful time here, the food was favourable and we ended the night with the most delicious chocolate dessert and zeppole. There’s so much on the menu that I still want to try and I will definitely be back! Saskatoon has been needing a place like this!

We had an awesome night at La Cusina! Luigi served us and he talked us into eating “family style.” He chose all of our food for us after asking a few questions. We had three appetizers, the artichokes, the meat board, and stuffed calamari. The artichokes were our favourite, soooo good! For the main course we had sea urchin pasta, carbonara, steak, and pickerel. It was all amazing!! We finished the night with chocolate mousse, and fried donuts. All in all it was an excellent meal! Luigi had passion for his customers and his craft and was honestly a really great waiter. I would highly recommend you eat here, definitely one of the top restaurants in Saskatoon!

Had an amazing evening out tonight with close friends. We enjoyed the gnocchi, steak, linguine alla pescatora, as well as the penne alla cucina. All dishes were beautifully presented, prepared and tasted spectacular. We will for sure be returning! The manager/bartender Norma made excellent cocktails and made us all feel at home with a welcoming automophere. A few friends and I decided to try out La Cucina for the first time and had a wonderful experience which surpassed our already high expectations. Our server, Don, was incredibly helpful and friendly and was eager to help us through our first ordering process at this restaurant. We greatly appreciated his help and he made our experience that much better! Another server, Tony (who had previously served us at another location), was equally as wonderful and greeted us like old friends, delivering equally exceptional customer service! Dined at La Cucina for the first time tonight after it had been reccomended to me and my only regret is not visiting sooner. The comfortable ambience makes fine dining feel accessible. The food is sure to be the best Italian food one can find in the city. If you are fortunate enough to dine while Norma is working you will be treated to remarkable service that will make you feel like family. La Cucina is my all time favourite fine dinning restaurants that Saskatoon has to offer! I have been eating here for over a year and don’t know why I’ve waited so long to write a review on this fabulous place. If you are looking for true Italian dinning this is the place to go! It’s locally owned and the manager Norma is wonderful. From the moment you step inside, to the moment you leave you are made feel like family. They offer fresh homemade pasta dishes that are cooked to perfection every single time. The fresh Gnocchi is one of my favourite dishes. That being said I’ve also enjoyed many other amazing dishes - penne alla cucina, spaghetti bolognese with meatballs, vitella di la cucina, arancini, bruschetta, lamb with risotto, rigatoni alla boscaiola, cheesecake and their warm house donuts. They serve many fun and fresh cocktails and offer wine pairing options to compliment your meal. The service is unlike any other restaurant I’ve dined at and I will continue to recommend this restaurant to everyone! If you are thinking about trying something new, do not hesitate on coming here. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

I went there last night with my bf on my anniversary. He loves Italian food. Hence, went for this restaurant. Appetizer was good. We ordered gnocchi and penne Alla cucina as mains because gnocchi is a famous dish as per reviews and a must try . Gnocchi was cold and uncooked. When I asked server about it, he didn't compensate anything for it. Instead he said, "it's not something you would like". What the hell is it supposed to mean. If customer is paying for the food, it is supposed to be cooked and hot. Apparently it's not so as per their server. Other thing, it took forever for us to get our food. I was so fed up on all, that I didn't order any desert and I just paid the bill and left. I hope management does something about it for preventing it to happen to other people. First something about ignoring your customers. Second if customer is complaining about food, LISTEN. third, do something about fast service. I won't go to this restaurant ever again. And I hope it doesn't happen to anyone ever.

Great food! 100% this place has the best meatballs in SK. Not only is the food great but the waiters are incredible they are very knowledgeable about the menu. While I was looking for the bathroom I dropped my phone and a nice young man named Joe picked it up for me. I can't wait to come back. By the way don't skip the dessert.

Wow! Seriously if your looking for food that tastes incredible then you absolutely need to check this place out. Personally I like going to restaurants where the food is great, you know like the kind of food that you know isn't really possible to make on your own. The Antipasto foods were something amazing to look at but still second to the taste. I had a taste of 3 different pastas that were all delicious but to be honest what surprised me the most were the salads, oh the salads! I am not a huge fan of salads in general but the insalata di pera e prosciutto was seriously something I will now crave any time I go out for dinner. The place was stunning to look at, the location is excellent, the service was on point and I feel that they have really nailed the prices. Thanks for a wonderful evening!!

Went to La Cucina for my first tonight and had the stuffed calamari, meatballs, truffle bread with olive oil, and the bucatini. Super delicious and freshly made. I don't think I've ever had such amazing tasting calamari before anywhere in Europe or Middle East. The lemon mint flavored dessert was delicious!! Mains were awesome and when we realized it was Jesse at the helm it made perfect sense. Kale in the pesto, didn’t see that coming and it was awesome! WOW ... the Lamb feature was perfection, the Calamari was a twist from the expected - on a bed of arugula - YUM. The menu was filled with all the favourites that will need to be re-visited. The food is great, although their stuffed/filled pasta is rolled a bit too thick on occasion (with the exception of the tortelli pasta I had, which was perfect) and the cocktails are a bit on the sweet side (even for ones you wouldn’t expect to be sweet). Overall great food, though, and I was very satisfied with the many menu items I've had at La Cucina. My greatest concern, however, is that the service I have experienced at La Cucina was quite poor. The first poor experience was with the server whose name we think was Tony. After we sat down and had our drinks and ordered our food, Tony asked us to move tables to accommodate a larger group that hadn’t made a reservation (but our party had made a reservation). I’ve never once in my life been asked to move tables to make way for another party. It made us feel very undervalued. The other tables in the restaurant could have easily been re-arranged to accommodate this other group without making us move tables. The second poor experience was with Luigi. Without prompting, he told us “I am old school so I like to bring out what I think you’ll like.” We had to interrupt him to tell him that that we actually just wanted to choose our own menu items, otherwise he had already started to turn and be on his way to the kitchen and start ordering for us because he seemed like he was in a rush. Let me be clear – I have eaten tasting menus at many high calibre restaurants and quite enjoy the experience of doing that, but without prompting I don’t want someone to tell me that that’s what I’m going to be doing because then it feels like it’s being forced upon me and I’m being bossed into something. No one goes to a restaurant to feel like they’re being bossed around by the server. I can understand how a server might suggest this if a customer is having a hard time deciding or that customer asks you to choose for them, but to right out-of-the gate try to order for someone before they’ve even really had a chance to take a good look at the menu is a bit aggressive and presumptuous. We then went on to order a few appetizers, but when we tried to order pasta and an entrée at the same time, Luigi said “You have lots of time so you can decide after the appetizers what you want after.” How does he know we have lots of time? He just met us and tried to order for us and is now telling us how much time we have for the dinner. We actually did not have “lots of time” and wanted to get home at a reasonable time because we had to get up really early for our work the next day. We wanted to order everything at once (which I think is fairly standard at every restaurant and I can’t believe I am actually having to explain why we wanted this) so that we wouldn’t be waiting forever between courses, which is exactly what happened because we weren’t “allowed’ to order our pasta until after we ate our appetizers. Consequently, it took two hours to eat a round of appetizers and a course of pasta. By the time we ate our pasta, it was too late to even consider ordering an entrée because it would mean the order would be getting into the kitchen just now and we’d be waiting another 30 minutes between courses and up to an hour if we then decided to get dessert. In the end, the restaurant lost out on a lot of extra money on more orders of entrees and desserts that they could have sold us (and that we wanted), and we left dissatisfied with the experience because of poor service despite the great food. What’s the most disappointing is that I chalked up my first poor experience with Tony to just being a one-off, but the fact that it has happened two times and with different servers (Luigi the second time) makes me wonder if they need to re-examine who they are hiring to interact with customers at this restaurant. I would hate for a restaurant with such great food to suffer because of such poor service. It will catch up eventually if it keeps up, even if the food continues to be great. Ultimately, great food but with out-of-touch and rude servers who make me not want to come back anytime soon.

What an amazing surprise. I came to La Cucina expecting another olive gardenish experience. Wow was I wrong. Luigi was our server and what an experience. He is extremely knowledgeable and will help you choose from the menu. The drinks were made with the most amazing care for both technique and ingredients. The food was some of the best I have had the pleasure of eating. The entire experience was both homey and decadent. Something very hard to attain. I felt like I was eating in a truly fine dining establishment and felt at home at the same time. I happened upon this place during a business trip and will happily drive 6 hours again just to repeat the meal and experience. Watching everyone care so much and seeing Luigi spread his great energy and friendliness was a truly rare treat that I will be repeating. You guys deserve 5 stars in every way and that's something I have NEVER said.
