My wife and I frequent this place. The food is definitely top notch. It is on the high price side for pub food but you can taste the quality. Normally we get great service here but last Friday unfortunately we had terrible service. This is why I gave only 4 stars. I am sure this is just a one off and we will be going back again soon.

Went back after a great experience 4 months ago. Unfortunately we didn’t have a very enjoyable experience today. After we ordered it took nearly an hour to be served our meals. It is quite frustrating to watch patrons who arrived after we did get served before ourselves. Our server seemed to be more interested in her friends on the street patio than her clients inside. Once our meal finally arrived the beer my husband ordered to have with his meal did not show up and our server never once stopped by to see how our meal was. As I said earlier the first experience was great but after today I don’t know if we will go back

We went for burger week, it was our first time visiting for food. We had the UN burger and the LC burger. The LC was better, but both were good. The fries were delicious - topped with chives and parmesan. Service was okay, a little slow but to be expected during such a busy time. Our waitress did not come and check on us after our food was delivered, and it took a while to get our check. I would more realistically give this 3.5 stars. We'll chalk it all up to a busy night and give them another go.

Was great food, but the last 3 visits 2 out of the 3, there have been problems with the kitchen. Too bad. 13 visits this year but it's too expensive to be inconsistent. Usual bill for wife and I is between $50 and $60 before tax and tip. Expect 2 to be in range of $75 or so with tax and tip, this would be with drink each.

Went there yesterday for burger week. my friend got the Jedi burger, she loved it. I got the chipotle like chicken burger. It was very good! Great service. Waitress was great. It was very loud and hard to hear each other. Hope to come back sometime!

I was in Saturday night and the entire time I was there was a great experience. My server was polite, friendly and attentive. Drinks included Upstreet Brewery Black IPA's which are a delicious craft beer you must try if you have the opportunity from PEI. Cocktail of choice that night was the Dark and Stormy Isle, it is spicy yet refreshing from the hit of ginger you get with every sip. My meal was the "Irish Poutine", do yourself a favour and put this in your belly!!! Soooo good! Just when we thought our night was not going to get any better a solo performer started singing and set the mood for a great atmosphere to enjoy drinks with friends.

My friends and I met here for dinner the other night. I did not pick this restaurant & unfortunately there was not one single item on the menu for those of us who do not eat dairy. I still went to meet up with my friends and make the best of it. I ordered the beyond meat burger without cheese, and fries without cheese as did my girlfriend. Both of our orders came with cheese on the fries, and the burger had melted cheese around the edges, but it looked like the kitchen staff peeled off the cheese from the top before serving and hoped we would not notice. This is not okay considering many people are allergic to dairy. The service was awesome, and the waitress was very nice and excluded out items from the bill. It's just a shame there is no diversity in the menu for those who have restricted diets and allergies & the kitchen staff doesnt seem very trustworthy if you were to ask for modified menu items.

Walked into this place and was instantly greeted with a smile. Ordered one of the draft beers on tap and curry fries with a Ruben. The crowds were great and would love to have them again, The sandwich was perfect size. This was a great spot for a quick beer and lunch as you walk the streets of Saint John.

We were quite satisfied and would genuinely recommend it as a Saint John must try like Decimal 81 or Java Moose. Food was extremely well prepared. Scallops were perfect and that is rare so thank you. 5$ ceasars were awesome. We were able to sit on the balcony on the warm summers night and I hope you are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy this cool little spot. Portions are a bit small for the price but it was a really nice experience. 2 adults dined with 2 Cesar's and soft drink for just under $80.

I came here with a friend and we were promptly seated despite lunch hour and 3 cruise ships in port (so it was very busy) We both had the fish and chips which were very very good. Not excessively battered and the fries were perfect. Washroom was clean. Price was reasonable. I would definitely return.

Our server was incredible. This place has a great patio to hang out in the fog and an extensive beer list celebrating local micro. They even have some casks available, but they should be careful to indicate which ones are cask. The food needs a bit more focus, we had the cod cakes and one barely had any fish while the other was way too salty and filled with all the cod that was missing from the first. Kind of reminded me of bacalhau in need of more soaking and rinsing.

I just had the worst chicken and waffles I’ve ever had, the chicken was way too salty and burnt; the only reason we didn’t return it was because we had to wait around 30 minutes to have food at our table. I expressed my discontent with the food, and the waitress clearly did not care. My advice is, go spend your money where they will value your business and at least try to give you good service.

The waitress, sorry I didn't get her name, long dirty blonde hair was fantastic. We ordered the wings and weren't aware of what blue cheese tastes like. In our opinion, not good but the wings were excellent, the deep fried pickles were as well. Definitely going to eat there again as the variety of local and domestic beer were a great selection as well.

I had a great experiance here. After reviewing photos of the food on Google I walked to this place from my hotel and it did not disappoint! The Irish Poutine was delicious! There also seemed to be a good selection of local and Irish beer. I had a pumpkin ale from Hampton and it was delicious and came with a sugar and spice rim! Delish! Service was friendly and fast. There was also some great live Irish music just starting as I was leaving. Looks like they had a great patio too!

We sat on the deck out front which was lovely. We ordered the cucumber mint gimlets which were refreshing and perfectly mixed. Followed up with a veggie burger accompanied by a side of onion rings -- over the top gourmet! Also had the veggie curry which was excellent -- perfectly balanced and seasoned. Our waitress was wonderful and pleasant. Would definitely recommend!

They have a good selection of beer on tap and the bartender explained that they rotate the kegs out so the selection of beer changes frequently. Very cool idea! Even with covid the operation of the establishment is great, everything is sanitized, constantly wiped down and all severs are marked up. We really enjoyed our lunch at the Cask and Kettle yesterday. When one of you gets the fish tacos and the other gets the chicken tacos ... you each get the best of both worlds!!! I have to say the flavours in these tacos were amazing and the side of parmesan rosemary fries were awesome!!! ???? The atmosphere was very relaxing and the service was great!!! We will definitely go back.

4 of us had a much needed evening out. I would suggest making reservations, it's a very busy spot. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I had the cod and chips. The chips have rosemary and parmesan, the cole slaw had a zing to it. The dill tartar sauce was the perfect complement to the beer battered fish.

This experience goes to show you the difference proper staffing makes. Morgan was not in over her head and we experienced very timely service all evening. Meal breakdown: Deep fried pickles - really nice chip size, coated well, and fried GBD. Deep fried chicken bites - beautifully battered and fried brilliantly. Reuben - all the great flavours you expect from a Reuben, and crafted very well with tight sandwich construction — can’t stand messy sandwiches. Irish poutine - bring your stretchy pants for this one. What a delightfully rich dish. If a poutine and the best Shepard’s you’ve ever had made a baby, this would be it.

My daughter and I decided to try out this local favorite while we were passing through, what a great decision it was. I had the 8oz sirloin it was cooked to perfection and garnished with delicious fresh vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. Salt and pepper is all you need on a good steak and these guys hit the nail on the head My daughter had the beer battered fish and chips, for a small girl she cleaned her plate and asked for seconds. We will absolutely be eating here again. I love to see a small business get it right. Thanks again for the amazing steak and welcoming service.

This is my second visit and probably my last unless I'm coming just for drinks. They call themselves a gastro pub but it's a far stretch from what you'd normally see in a gastro pub. I got the chicken tacos and the chicken was great however the coleslaw, pickled red onions, and pickles were all from a jar/bucket. For the price, i would've expected at least a portion of those to be made with fresh ingredients... I'm disappointed. I just ate the chicken and left the rest. The server noticed but didn't comment on it, just asked if we wanted the bill and we said yes. My husband had the Irish poutine which sounds amazing on the menu but in reality is so so overpowered by sage that you can't really taste anything after a couple bites, just sage. We probably won't be back; we were here when it first opened and had a very similar experience so their quality hasn't improved.

Ordered my taco without onions and came with onions. My husband ordered a burger and it wasn’t cooked, even after returning it to the kitchen. Drinks were great but couldn’t eat the burger. Waitress argued with us that burgers were supposed to be cooked medium with pink in the center. Won’t be back.

My fish tacos were terrific but my husband's Reuben was not as he would've expected. There was very little sauerkraut or Swiss cheese. Usually Ruebens are not served with tomatoes, lettuce and pickles. The waiter was excellent. The beer was very good.

Easy 5+ stars. This place was nothing short of awesome. Came here for lunch on a Tuesday while our cruise was docked in St Johns, and it was our favorite St. John experience by far. My family is from all over. New York, Seattle, Alaska, Georgia; we were all very pleased. The service was spectacular and very friendly. The Irish poutine with the deep fried curds... PLEASE SIR MAY I HAVE SOME MORE!!! And of course, the beers we had were delicious and nutritious. From lagers, to reds, to my moms whiskey sour; we loved it.

Very nice pub in a great location. Older section of St Johns With lots of vintage bldgs. Nice outside dining deck on street. Interior dining is classic pub space. Fish cakes are very good. Pulled pork grilled cheese and pulled chick club very well done. Several nice variations of classic pub food to liven up the menu. Food is a bit pricy but very tasty. Parm rosemary fries highly recommended. Well worth the stop for a brew and at least an appetizer.

Great service and delicious food. It was a wonderful atmosphere to meet a couple of friends. It was also nice hearing somewhere so vibrant with people while still being able to stay physically distant from one another. I had the chocolate buttermilk waffles. So much chocolate and maple syrup and a perfectly fluffy on the inside, slightly crispy on the outside waffle.

We booked the Cask & Kettle for the drinks & dancing portion of our wedding in August, and the C&K staff went above and beyond to make our night incredible. They took care of every single detail – they created a signature cocktail for the evening, they took care of the playlist all night, the kitchen staff made late night snacks, including garlic fingers and donair sauce which wowed our out-of-town guests, and every single staff member was so friendly and enthusiastic – they were having fun with us all night. The owner, Shawn, was great to work with in the months leading up to the event, and came by to check in on everything the night of. Our guests absolutely loved coming here at the end of the night – the patio was set up with patio lights so everyone got to enjoy the beautiful evening. This was the perfect way to celebrate our wedding. We couldn’t resist coming back for brunch the next day! Thank you C&K – we had a blast!

We have been traveling for 12 days and this is by far the best meal we have had. We ordered a beer and a caesar (made with whiskey and guiness ????) chicken bites with buffalo caesar sauce, fish tacos, fish and chips and Baileys coffee cake. This is a hard rating for me as it is one of my favorite places for food and beer (in the top 3 best veggie burgers in town in my books!). If you had asked me a few months ago, I would have given at least 5 stars. Live entertainment is hit or miss sometimes really good, sometimes they would have been better off with the radio. This is not the reason for my 3 star rating though. One evening around 10pm, I came in with a few friends from out of town to show them one of my favorite spots and to have a few drinks (there were 5 of us). It was pretty quiet, only a few people there and one server by the look of. He came over asked if we were ready and we said that we just started to look at the menu and asked for a few minutes. He agreed and said he would be back. Myself and a friend went to the washroom right after as we only had 1 menu and the 3 others on the other side of the table were viewing. We returned to the table a few mins later and were able to look at the menu to pick a beer. He comes over the 2nd time (about 5-10 mins have passed at this point) and asked if we were ready. He seemed like he was in a hurry to get our order either because he preferred to speak with his friends at the bar or because he wanted to get off work (that didnt appear to be happeneing anytime soon due to business hours and beacuse other people were still there). Anyway, he asked if we were ready and I replied "sorry, we just got to look at the menu now, can we have just another couple mins?". He replied "ok, ill come back in (he paused) about a half hour then" with a condescending smile and turned around and walked back to the bar. At that moment I advised my friends that we were not staying and would go somewhere else that wanted our business and wouldnt be rude. There are other choices and it wasnt worth staying with someone who would act like this. That is my rant and reason for the 3 stars versus 4 or 5. That said, I have been back after this instance purely for the food but I used to visit at least once every 1-2 weeks. My frequency is much less now, maybe once every 2 months as a result of this incident. If you are wondering, the rude server is still there. Luckily, I have not had him as my server as of late!
