The best sushi place in town, worth the cost.

Sushi was great. Service was great, though we pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves given the time of day we went. Spicy salmon was a cut of salmon with crispy bits and spicy sauce, not the typically used spicy salmon salad (doesn't matter to me, but might to others). They have a system where they go around the tables serving yakitori rather than ordering directly. You're given a coaster to signal if you want them to come by or not. I imagine the frequency is greater when the place is busier whereas we only had two stops by the yakitori servers. Not sure about the restaurant's parking situation as we had parked in a municipal lot for the day.

"all you can eat Sushi" ... the phrase can bring forth a pretty wide array of reactions (probably more bad than good!). That said, East is an AWESOME spot with fantastic food. Simply delicious. Cooked meats are brought around throughout the meal. The sushi is fresh and yummy. The atmosphere seems to be a little more upscale than this company's other "Wind" properties (including the one next door). All around, it was an amazing lunch and I look forward to coming back for dinner some time soon. Enjoy!

Was here on the Monday after Mother's Day. Surprisingly busy luckily we have made a reservation. Had to wait for like 5 minute before being taken to our table. There was a line of 15 people still standing and waiting. Our server is Clara, and she's awesome. She was super friendly to us, made effort to maintain an excellent service even though the place was packed. We really appreciate when servers came and asked about the food when they clear the plates. Some other place, servers just came to take away the empty plates. At this place, they ask us how did we think about the food, did we like the dishes we just tasted, which makes me feel so special. The highlight of the night, is of course, Torched Salmon. They had added a bunch of new food and cocktails into the menu for Spring. Overall, it was a wonderful dinner.

First time coming here and as my partner and I walked throught the door, we were greeted right away and sat to a table promptly. The service was amazing as well as the food. We enjoyed the sushi items were very warm and fresh. The tempura batter especially was the right consistancy and the portion of rice for the sushi were small; however ordering a lot of items made you feel full at the end rather then at the mid point of your meal experience. I really liked sampling the grilled items that you cannot order on the menu. The meats like chicken, pork and beef were hot and very tender melt in your mouth. The grape and cheese rolls are surprising but taste very sweet. We will be coming here again as prices for lunch are very reasonable. :)

Ok service. No red tuna which was very disappointing. The rice was over cooked which gave the rolls a mushy texture... Overall experience was nothing special, for the quality of the food I could have gone somewhere much cheeper. Wouldn't recommend coming.

Everything here is AMAZINGGGGGG. Me and my roommate had to go here a second time to try everything. The service, everyone that works here are GEMS. Especially Lola!!!! The food is great and the portion sizes are perfect. East has such a wide variety of foods I can’t pick a favourite! Dessert is SO GOOD, my favourite would have to be the green tea ice cream????

East offers the best AYCE sushi in St Catharines. This is a common consensus among people in St Catharines. With a huge selection as well as Izakaya, this place is not one to gloss over if you love sushi. The setting is stylish and iPad ordering is always fun. That being said, I cannot bring myself to give it a perfect 5 stars. The place is busy (understandable, it's a popular spot), but I don't think that excuses the kitchen not sending out various vegetarian rolls (twice). One person I was dining with is a vegetarian and sadly didn't get to enjoy the sushi at the same time as everyone else. In addition, we waited a solid 10 minutes for ice cream at the end (though other desserts came out in a timely manner). This doesn't usually happen and the servers were very apologetic, but I cannot give the full 5 stars. I would give the place 4.5 stars if I could. Though it is one of the pricier AYCE places here, it is worth it! Overall, East is a solid sushi place. I definitely recommend!

We stopped here on our way through St. Catherine's not knowing anything about the place. Best gamble we're ever taken on a new restaurant! The lunch menu was extensive, the staff were very friendly and fast, and the food was incredible! The fish was very fresh, as was the edamame. The rice was seasoned perfectly. A beautiful, clean establishment. I would recommend this restaurant to any fan of Japanese cuisine.

I have been here many times and have had a great experience, but today i got food poisoning. I came to the restaurant for lunch with my boyfriend and we made a reservation. we couldn't stay for long because we had places to be so we got the all-you-can-eat lunch and ordered everything we wanted all at once. the first items we get were very good and nice and hot. towards the end, our waitress kept mentioning that our food was ready but she wasn't going to bring the food out yet (which i agree with because we had a smaller 2 person table). But when we got our sushi rolls the avacado was brown, the tops of the rolls were going stale, and they smelt like old fish. We tried a bite of the 3 rolls we got and they were all old. thankfully we did not have to pay the waste charge but today was not a good experience

First time myself and my husband visited it was my husband’s birthday the restaurant was fully booked but the staff did their best in accommodating us I was asked for my number in case anyone had cancelled and we were lucky enough that there was a late cancellation. The staff are all extremely attentive and friendly and the food is fresh and delicious the best Japanese we have ever had we have already gone there for the second time and we will definitely keep visiting as we love the atmosphere, service and special the great tasting always fresh food it’s well worth the drive we live in Crystal Beach. East Izakaya is a place recommended to me by a true foodie. It was very easy to make a reservation given the current time period we are all in at the moment. Upon arrival the waitress was happy when greetings me and followed me to my table. Another waitress too over and show me how to use the iPad ordering system. It was very straightforward and easy to use. Meals were delivered quite quickly and with very creative designs. Spices used were tasty. I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking for tasty food.

The best sushi place in the area! Would absolutely recommend. Ordering off the I pads is effortless and so much fun, the service is amazing, and the food is delicious! You get what you pay for, even if its pricy for dinner you have so many options when you're ordering. Most all you can eat places sacrifice quality, but as far as I can tell everything here is freshly made and tastes amazing.

This was my favorite place for sushi in the area until yesterday ... a friend and I were enjoying the food and atmosphere up until we swatted away a pesky fly. This gave the waiter a sign to come and strike up a conversation us while we are still eating. He commenced talking about how they have done their best to keep the flies out of the kitchen but assured us the couldn't use chemicals around the food area so there is still lots of flies. Yuck! But then he went from that topic to how they were able to use chemicals to get rid of the bed bugs?!?!?! Yes you read right, BED BUGS!!!! What server talks to diners about this DURING their meal???? Our appetite was completely gone after this and we will never be back. In fact it will be a very VERY long time before I eat sushi or take out again for that matter. DISGUSTED

It started off amazing with pan fried beef and garlic shrimp. The quality of sashimi varied per order and sushi fish was a lot better than sashimi with the exception of white tuna. The hype is real. Après the reno's, the atmosphere, food, and service are top notch. My favourite sushi in Niagara. Great food when you dine in and just as good take out. —————————————————————————— Came for dinner today and to no surprise food is top notch. However, I was surprised with the service. We were not asked once if we wanted a refill on our drinks or maybe a simple checkup through our meal. I did not remove a star as the server did ask when we were already having desert. A tad bit too late. I hope this was just a one off.

Very busy spot. Our waiter Owen was fantasric. Portions are small and you don't overeat. They also come around with food on skewers. There's a little card on the table for yes or no for more food from the walk around person. Turn it ro whichever side you want. If "no" they will skip your table. They use tablets for ordering which is great for an all you can eat restaurant. Was put onto this restaurant by my nephew. Would surely go again.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. The female manager is petty and rude. They charge you for your kids just being physically present, they said it was because they saw my friend's two year old take a bite out of the sweet potato tempera and eat ice cream that his parents ordered for themselves?! Food is good but there are many great sushi places in the region with more reasonable prices and that truly care to give you a good dine in experience: - Michinoku - Taki Japanese Sushi - Sushi Ai - Amakara Japan - Seasons - Big Tuna I will never waste my hard earned money at East.

Eat-in is better than takeout. Our take out order was being packed while we were there waiting yet several of the food items were cold when we got home. They also forgot the ginger, wasabi and soya sauce which was a let down for our large order of sushi. The overall taste was ok, it didn’t seem the freshest. This is the Chinese version of Japanese food so it is what it is. We will be back for eat-in but not take out even with the 15% take-out discount.

over a one hour wait at 730pm for a table of 4 and we even tried to call for reservations they said we don't do that but it was weird other people had reservation? 2nd try today march 16th 2019 so i tried to make a reservation for dinner they said first come first serve on the phone today i drive from port colborne get here and they said its full with reservations and will not even let me wait for a table. very frustrating

So this happened.... We call to make reservations at 5:30pm for 7:30pm and were told that 'dinner was $20.99' three people heard the same thing and we confirmed 3 times the amount with the lady on the phone.... So we ate dinner... Came to our table with the bill and it shows 3x adult dinner for $30.99, we said we were told that dinner was $20.99 over the phone and that is why we made reservations at this location. They said they couldnt do anything so they got the manager. The manager came over and repeated what the other server said and we again advised that we were told that it was $20.99 and thats all we were willing to pay. Told her its not fair that one of your employees gave us wrong information and you are now forcing us to pay. She said she doesnt know what to do, we either pay of she will call the cops. We asked if she thinks we are lying to her and she laughed, we took that as an insult. She knew who the lady was who spoke to us on the phone and would not have her confirm what she said infront of us. We all understood because she is protecting the employee but it still irritated all of us especially when the manager laughed in our faces. She said the OWNER said no to doing anything about the situation...We told her we were willing to pay what we were told and no more so she called the cops on us. We walked out of the restaurant with 6 employees following us, we turned back around and told them we were willing to pay what we were told was the dinner price. The officer came!!! And literally thought this was a joke and said he doesnt care what the menu said, the lady on the phone gave these people a price so thats what you charge them. She was trying to convince him WE did something wrong here. The manager asked the office to CHARGE US for not paying... This manager caused so much hassle and embarrasment instead of just doing the right thing. In the end we paid $20.99 and she expected a tip...and we were not CHARGED...which is what we originally were going to pay without any issues. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! WORST SUSHI EXPERIENCE. The OFFICER actually made our night Other than this..... The food was awesome!

Great Food, and just as good service. Go back once a month. Anytime someone visits me in St. Catharine's I take them to East. Sushi is amazing, and great variety. Dinner time is slightly more expensive than lunch, but if you enjoy desserts, there is a much larger selection and they have incredible deep fried mars bars. I would definitely recommend trying one of those. ($1 at lunch)

Went last night with a group of 24 or so. Really enjoyed our meal. Service was really good and the food was on point. With a bigger group like that sometimes you end up losing what your ordering. Gets dropped off at the other end of the table and never makes it to you. All in all a good time, but maybe a little too pricey. $100 for the two of us, with only me having one beer.

We eat at a LOT of sushi places all across North America and our visit to East Izakaya was breathtaking! From the superb quality of each and every dish, to the very interesting and creative menu items, to the Brazilian-BBQ-like table service, this is without a doubt the best sushi restaurant of the dozens we have been to. Peak times can be busy, quite understandably, but our mid-afternoon visit was without compromise and just a perfect meal experience! I can't recommend this place highly enough. We'll be back again and again!

One of the best AYCE sushi restaurants I've visited. The decor is classy, the price is right, and the food is great. I love that the wait staff occasionally offer random morsels from skewers, such as bacon-wrapped chicken breast, or grilled pineapple. Make sure you try the Rocky Shrimp! Would definitely return.

Going to jump right into it... a bug poured out of the soy sauce which was disgusting & it could've been a fruit fly but it was off putting for an all you can eat spot. First staff member we told was super apologetic and quickly replaced everything. Now fast forward towards the end when we asked for our bill in which we had to argue with the member of staff to make her understand we deserve $5 off our bill and the 10% she was offering won't cut it for us. She was adamant we take the $5 coupon for our next visit and I had to repeatedly tell her I would never come back so I need to use it now. We requested to speak to the manager who first dealt with us but she claimed she was on break, we offered to wait but she said her break was 1 hour. I honestly don't think it would've been difficult for the staff members to go above and beyond with their service to make our experience more enjoyable and memorable, however instead they decide to fight us for an extra $1-$2 off our bill which they ended up giving us anyways. Seafood is very fresh. Ordering with iPad is fun for my kids. The problem is that even customers order on a iPad, the waiter still come to the table to confirm the order and then submit to the kitchen. And seems to me only one waiter is authorized to do that. First of all, I love sushi. Second, the sushi here is fantastic. There are so many great choices on the all you can eat menu. Even if you don't like sushi, the different meat teriyaki's, deep fried scallops, crabmeat wontons, assorted shrimps, assorted tempuras, to name a few, are all delicious. My favourite rolls are any of the spicy ones and as a dessert, I like the strawberry cream cheese roll. The edamame is a great break between all the meat options.

While the new 'Copacabana' style skewer toting waiters is a welcome addition, it just doesn't come around frequent enough to justify the higher price tag. Would much rather pay a little less and go to the sister location Wind right next door.

I've always loved this place, even before the renovations started. Went back today for the first time since the reno and can honestly say it was some of the best and most fresh sushi I've had. They're new japanese style BBQ items on the menu were 10/10 and the inside of the restaurant itself was beautiful. Probably my favorite sushi spot in the entire city.

My lovely lovely boyfriend took me here for my Birthday on November, 4th, 2019, it was our first time here and it was a place that was recommended by his boss. I found the service to be lightning fast but not intrusive, accommodating and just awesome all around. The food was absolutely wonderful and fresh, and every bite you take packed an amazing powerful punch of flavor and fish! It was delicious and I would definitely go here again..(Might even make it a tradition) We had many waitresses, but the one who stood out the most was ALEXANDRA! She was amazing..topped off our water with no hesitation and made sure our evening was satisfactory. (Thanks for the after meal candies!..That was freaking awesome) I would definitely absolutely recommend this place to any SUSHI LOVERS out there! I ordered from East on Skip The Dishes just yesterday. My partner and I either order take-out or go in to eat at least once a week. Unfortunately this particular experience has changed our opinion which was previously pleasant. We ordered our food and soon after received a call about our order. The call was to inform us that the side spicy mayo & eel sauce would be charged $1.00 per container. Using the menu online the company should implement this as a side option therefore informing others as we had never been charged before. When we finally received our food the shrimp tempura still had shells in it and the sauces were nearly empty as well as no chopsticks supplied for us to eat with. This experience was very unpleasant and not enjoyable.

This was our first experience at East, and our first experience at this type of restaurant as a matter of fact. I must say everything we ate was absolutely delicious. My wife and I are not seafood people yet we found more than enough to enjoy. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for delicious food and amazing service. Great sushi place downtown. We tried out the King of Fish Roll & a Golden California Roll. We also had the seaweed salad and miso soup. All in all the different aspects of these meal items were spectacular. I've never had such a great miso soup! Highly recommend it. The sushi rolls were great. I thought there was a little bit too much sauce on the Golden California Roll, but it still tasted super delicious. That Miso Soup was to die for! It was so hearty and full of flavour. I can't wait to try out more dishes at this restaurant. Until next time!

Ate here on the 5th of this month as a personal New Year's treat, the service was very good, the decor and atmosphere are top-notch, and the food was fantastic! My only problem would be that I was left waiting for my main course of the evening, pan-fried chicken udon, for over an hour, despite everything else I ordered coming out quickly. I won't be harsh on them for this, however. I'll definitely be going again when I can, and I recommend East to anyone who loves authentic Japanese cuisine! Just be aware that it's a tad pricey.

5 thumbs up for this place. Its like a mini Copacobana. They go around with different samples of grilled beef, chicken and shrimp. Oh and you can;t forget the grilled pineapple. And the deep fried milk dessert. They have the option of oysters(if you're into those) and so many other Japanese staples. It is amazing and well worth the price. I use to go to Wind all the time which is one of their partner restaurants but East is by far the best. The salmon sashimi is aways fresh, the tamago, delicious. They're chairs could be a bit more comfortable though, that's my only complaint.Great customer service.

East is one of the best restaurants in the Niagara Region. The sushi is fresh, delicious, and creative, with lots of unique options. I absolutely love the sashimi, the Princess of Fish roll, and the fried milk dessert. One huge benefit for me is that they take food allergies seriously, and do not make you feel embarrassed for mentioning them. The service is incredible - we couldn't believe how quickly the plates appeared and were cleared. The servers are kind, professional, and will go above and beyond to ensure you are satisfied. Highly recommend.

I ordered take out from them. They took nearly 2 hours to prepare my food, which tasted horrible to the point that I ended up throwing it in the garbage. As a general rule I hate food waste given the number of people going without food in the world but their sushi rolls tasted so horrendous, I felt I had no choice but to throw it out. The General Tao chicken was ok but I didn't have more than a bite or two as I completely lost my appetite after trying the sushi.

Staffs were really polite. We didn't make any reservation, so we did have to wait a little bit. But once we sat down, there was when all the great experience happened. We ordered food from their iPad, and surprisingly, they brought out the food we ordered within a minute! That was really impressive. No matter with the food's quality, quantity, and appearance, they all deserve a 5 star.

Edit - usually a 5 star experience but last visit gives the restaurant for how they managed a service issue. The food is fantastic but don't expect to be pampered slightly if something goes wrong. This is what happens when a restaurant is busy and stops caring about the dining experience. I will give it one more try and update the review in the future if anything changes. If you like raw fish there are plenty of options but if you dont, are many more that will be very good for you. In addition, the menu is constantly changing as they add more delicious food options. Terrible customer service!!! Visited East restaurany on Thursday December 27th for the first time after a rcommendation. We got there and it was busy and because we didn't have a reservation we were placed on the wait list. We were told 20-30 mins ...about 20 mins in another couple came in who also did not have a reservation and within minutes they were seated a large booth. I immediately spoke up and let the hostess know we had been waiting for 20 mins why weren't we seated before the couple who just came in...they told me they were sorry and that my table is ready now. They proceeded to guide me to small table by the entrance beside the long line of patrons waiting to be seated...and the drafty door. I decided at that point I was going to leave because I was disrespected and discriminated against. They offered no explaination and I feel that that was very unprofessional and I want others to know that the staff were very unapologetic and rude and I don't feel this is a place that I would ever visit again.

What a great place! I've been here 3 times now and always great. Service is prompt and polite. The food is delicious. There are many choices and you can definitely find what you will like. They even have vegetarian and vegan options. I love their kale saute and the seaweed salad. The fish and other meats are always fresh, and I have a very sensitive nose and lived in Japan for 1.5 years. This is definitely good quality and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to a sushi enthusiast

There was one server in particular, who kept prompting us to eat all of our food and constantly checking on us. We just wanted to eat in peace but lost our appetite toward the end. After experiencing AYCE sushi at multiple restaurants, I can definitely say East Izakaya sits comfortably at the top. The fish to rice ratio, service, seating are all incredible. The presentation of each individual dish is better than what I've experienced at high-end a-la-carte sushi restaurants. On top of that, the variety of sushi is endless and you will certainly find something you enjoy.

Put in an order leaving work from Toronto thinking by the time I get back to St Catharines it will be ready but once I arrived for pick up I had to wait an additional 35mins... I am aware that it was busy on a Friday night but still don't understand how it took nealry 2 hours and only to come home and be disappointed by the lack of quality of the sushi, it was disgusting I threw up in my mouth and ended up throwing the rest of it out. The General Tao's chicken was good. Nothing bad about the staff they were all very friendly and apologetic for the long wait time!

First off, the restaurant itself looked very fancy on the outside and inside. It also had amazing customer service, which is generally hard to find at all you can eat places. There was a great variety of foods (sashimi was pretty fresh) and desserts (I loved the strawberry mousse, mango mousse, and mango pudding!).

What a great place!! Very nice environment for date night. The food was delicious, the servers were attentive and kind, also very informative. The servers will bring around different samples of items, and you have a card on your table that says "Keep goin" or "I'm Full" and until you flip the card over, you are granted with as much delicious food as you want haha! (NOT including the stuff you order!) this is an extra. I enjoyed some vegetarian sushi, and enjoyed some appetizing BBQ'd pineapple with brown sugar coating. I will be going back to this place! I love their soups, sushi and the overall environment is wonderful.

Best Sushi restaurant in town (other than Wind they are equal) for all you can eat or a la carte. The servers are kind and beautiful people who are wonderful to be near and always remember you. When I was sick for a while and then came back they said they’d been wondering where I’d been and if I was ok. Just truly wonderful people making food that tastes like heaven wrapped in a cloud of joy. I’m gluten free and sushi is a clear choice. It’s also really healthy and packed with nutrients so switching from other restaurants to this one I lost over 100 lbs!

Best sushi spot in St Catharines for a reason. Super accommodating, clean, staff is friendly, and we loved everything that came to our table. Super cool concept with bringing around skewers of various seasoned meats/vegetables to either try or to snack on while waiting for your food. Will definitely be back, and will definitely recommend!

My partner didn't want to finish his spicy salmon roll, which made me sad because he was so excited (he does like spicy salmon rolls). He said it tasted bland and wasn't spicy. Also, the wonton soup he ordered had a ton of mushrooms (and was thus mushroom flavored) which he was not expecting, and didn't like (and could not eat it either). My shrimp tempura roll was ok. The wok style eggplant tasted like it had no seasoning at all. Fyi this was takeout so maybe the dining-in experience is different? Also I notice they have a job up looking for a head chef, so I wonder if that had anything to do with the disappointing food experience I had today? Edit: despite their reply to this review, there was no followup on their part.

It's a little expensive. I went for lunch and it was $30, which kinda sucks considering I didnt get a drink and the lunch menu is super limited. Also there's not much seating, so the waitress was trying to rush us to get out so she could seat others waiting. The food here is good though. Overall, wouldnt recommend getting all you can eat here, you'd be better off just getting their takeout.

They used to be our go to. Ordered weekly. However they have been absolutely terrible lately. 3 back to back orders not a little wrong but very wrong. One one even a reorder from one they knew was wrong and got it wrong again!!! 3 hours to get our dinner and it was still wrong. That is something you expect only at McDonald’s. When I decided I needed lunch and running to Toronto from Niagara I had no expectations on what I would find when East Izakaya came up in St. Catharines. Marvelous sushi all you can eat as I've had in a while. No reservations for a 3pm drop in but I was quickly seated and handed an iPad digital menu device. Service was quick and every tried dish was a treat. COVID protocols in place but offered little distractions to the ambiance.

All you can eat delicious Japanese food. Just order whatever you want off the tablet at your table and the waitress will check your order and help you with any questions or problems with your selections. The menu selection is huge so definitely something to suit everyone's taste . Service can be a little slow but its alot of food for the kitchen to prepare so ask your server if something you ordered didn't get to your table. The food quality is very good and you'll definitely leave feeling stuffed after a tasty meal. This was my first time eating at this restaurant and I'm looking forward to going back again. Thank you.

I’m a little obsessed with this place. I come up to the area once or twice a year and this spot is always on my list. It’s the best sushi I’ve ever had and I love their service style. I was really impressed with how they changed the setup for Covid safety. The price is reasonable for what you get and the fish is so fresh. They have great options for all you can eat so people like me who want a little bit of everything can do just that!

It has a really nice vibe happening with high ceilings, thick wood slab tables, cool lighting, and decor - very tasteful and appealing - not at all cheesy ! Excellent all you can eat sushi and Japanese food. The grilled meats and pineapple brought to your table on spears are like a mini Brazilian BBQ restaurant and are all included - its not something I have seen in a Japanese restaurant but if you're hungry enough, take advantage - it's all quality stuff. The a la carte oysters I had were fabulous (2 bucks each). The teriyaki steak is amazing - thick and tender - cooked medium to medium rare. I also recommend the salmon roses with generously thick pieces of salmon and roe on top, and a tasty filling. The sashimi at dinner is also very good quality. No disappointments including the miso soup, and mango mouse for desert. This place takes the all you can eat sushi experience to a new level at a somewhat premium price and it is well worth it. have been twice for a lunch and dinner. Can't wait to go back ! (The washrooms are accessed by a long climb upstairs from the back corner of restaurant. They are very nice, but not convenient).

Wonderful experience at the restaurant. They are following the COVD protocols very well. There is a hand sanitization station right at the entrance. Tables are separated by plexiglass and there is a hand sanitizer at each table too. Helen, our server was very helpful too. She gave us good recommendations for Sake. The food was good too. The sashimi slices were a bit smaller than what we are used too, but were good! We tried the Spicy Salmon roll and King of Fish Roll. The spicy salmon roll was the better of the two.

I love it here. I can't lie. The food is always amazing and the servers are always polite and helpful. My ONLY issue is the sticks of meat. We had someone come to us TWICE during our entire meal. It hurt my heart when I would see the servers with meat walk right past us from the kitchen to start at the other side of the restaurant. OF course by the time they got to us, they would have no more meat. I would suggest having more people walking around with the meat. I even tried to order the meat off the ipad and it wouldnt let me. Like I said, food is incredible, service is tip top. Price is reasonable. I can't wait to go back.

I live in Hamilton so the only choices we have for AYCE sushi are Spring and August 8, which are consistent but average AYCE sushi joints. If you are willing to drive out to St. Catharine’s then I would recommend giving East Izakaya a try. They are unique in that they have lots of sushi and maki roll selection but they also have fresh grilled chicken, beef, pork belly, shrimp, zucchini, brussel sprouts and pineapple brought around to your table on a large skewer (in Brazilian BBQ fashion). They list the BBQ/grilled items on the menu but you cannot order them from there since the server is usually circulating them throughout the restaurant. But if there is something in particular that you want from the grilled menu, just ask your server for it and they will send it right over. Service is fantastic and the restaurant itself it clean and modern. Overall, East Izakaya is a fun and tasty dining experience.

This is an All you can eat Sushi Place. The place doesn't have their own parking spot. You need to find your own parking by the street or get a paid parking spot. It's not a typical buffet style All you can eat place. You order the food on an ipad. There's also a person who goes around serving skewers and pineapples. The food, ambiance, and service was great! Good value for money. I would definitely recommend this place! Make sure you come starving :)

TLDR: Fantastic food quality and selection for sushi lovers and haters alike, Warm service, very cozy and comfortable atmosphere. For someone who doesn't like sushi, and is allergic to Shellfish I love East. Well it has certainly become on the pricier side of sushi options in the St. Catharines area I'm never disappointed by both the abundance and quality of the food I and my sushi loving friends have recieved. A special shout must be made to the sake fried mushrooms. I could purely eat those delicious little fungi all evening and be sastisfied. Service is always warm, the atmosphere is always well set, and it's pretty difficult to walk out not feeling full.

As with most sushi places, it might be a good idea to limit how much you order at once. A couple of items we ordered never appeared. What did appear, however, was very good. The "food on a stick" concept where they bring it to you tableside seemed far too slow to be practical. Only managed to try two or three out of the many options. Cosy atmosphere, convenient location. Price seemed a bit high but not out of the usual range.

Food was great. Variety was wonderful. Food came out waaaaay too fast. We barely had a spoonful of our soup when more food came out. By the time our soup was done, our sihes were stacked on each other (we were 2 ppl at a 2 person table). Now we know to order a couple things at a time; so that's some advice. They also have somw extra food that they come around with to try, like cinnamon pineapple, grilled beef, geilled chicken with bacon to name a few.

My first experience was fantastic! The servers were great and the food was amazing. I love that they walk around with BBQ meats and grilled pineapple for you to try, very different and refreshing. Absolutely great experience. Not only did we not have to wait a long time, but in the first few minutes it seemed like our experience this time was already better than our last due to the quick service. This is also I think one of the few places you’ll see a deep fried Oreo for dessert. I’ve been to Ye’s Sushi, and never been quite impressed with their pressed sushi. But wow, trying it here has definitely restored my faith in the pressed sushi, but it’ll be hard to find another sushi place that can do this as well as they’ve done here. The only thing we ordered that I wasn’t too fond of was the kale salad, it had way too much garlic and salt, so much to the point that the kale wasn’t too palatable because it was so overpowered. Other than that, no complaints, just wish they had more torched options with more special sauces!

If you like sushi, this is the place for you. The restaurant's interior is simple but beautiful - it looks Japanese but doesn't jump out too much. In a all-you-can-eat (which seems to be the default here) you order your portions via tablet - it's fun and convenient. A word of advice: you're probably there because you like sushi or other Japanese food. So focus on that. The menu has some Chinese dishes as well, and while they are not bad, they are not up to par with the Japanese cuisine. Stick to that and you will get an outstanding meal.

A copy of wind sushi literally 10ft across the street. Place was ok when it first opened as I assume they brought cooks and chefs from wind to keep consistency. But since that initial visit. Things have fallen in a big way. Long waits for parts of orders, when it does arrive is soggy and seems like it was sitting out for hours before hand. Parts of orders and never brought to the table and things we never orders are brought so leads me to believe tables are getting each other's orders . All in all will just go bad to wind across the street

All you can eat sushi place. A wide array of items. You order on a tablet, so every item is well illustrated and described. However, I wish these kind of restaurants would stop to put so much mayo on everything. Service is efficient and them passing at the tables with meat skewers is a great touch. A tad expensive if you plan to eat a little bit, but the ingredients are fresh at least.

The all-you-can-eat menu was delicious. We most enjoyed the sushi rolls but the tempura scallops were SOOO yummy we ordered them multiple times. The service was 5-star as well, prompt and friendly. Staff came around with samples like terriaki beef tips and skewered shrimp. We we're starving when we arrived so those little nibbles kept us from being hangry while taste testing some of their menu. The modern Japanese decor and acid jazz/lounge music created a nice vibe too!

I went here before I went to Japan so I could compare the best Canadian sushi to the best Japanese sushi. There was only one place in Japan (the Tokyo fish market) that had better sushi. plus they have deep fried mars bars here.

They have a great selection of food. Though, half the good stuff on the menu that makes bang for your buck is on a "rotation basis" which means they cook a batch and go table to table to offer. It's when your waiting and they offer you a bite, but it's not the best when they only offer the cheaper items on rotation (grilled pineapple, chicken, beef) and never offer the sea food. The service - if you are missing something, it will take ~10minutes for them to fix. Punch an order, wait ~5mins, missing something, wait ~10mins. I feel the staff are very afraid to voice opinions and thus lack service. It's aesthetically pleasing but it's not the best place for an all you can taste experience.

Frankly, foods are ok, but I feel the service and people there are so FAKE! Especially, bunch of the servers there treat Asian customers differently. We were not treated equal as another customers sitting next table. And there was a server with the name tag “YELLOW” standing by our table checking my order literally 20 seconds before confirm and send my order, feeling like she didn’t want us order the food. OMG this server was so RUDE to us, the way she looked at us was obviously not friendly, I don’t know if she only treats Asian customers like this ,or she is just NOT QUALIFIED to be a server. I heard from my friends that the servers in East Izakaya don’t treat Asian customers equally as another customers, and now I have confirmed this is TRUE. I believe people working hard back in the kitchen to bring us good foods, but the some servers need to be WELL TRAINED to communicate with customers properly.

Nice sushi resturant that offers ayce sushi with competitive pricing that is similar to the competition around downtown. I use to like getting the fried mushrooms here. Decor is nice. They also have workers coming around offering things on skewers. Probably won't return as after paying and getting up to leave a server tried to stop us cause they thought we were dashing and dining. Thats embarassing as other diners started staring at us. Theres multiple sushi resturants nearby and will probably go to Seasons as they have deep fried icecream/mars bars.

Service was quick and good! Plenty of the time all you can eat sushi places have sub-par quality and a stressful, confusing dining experience. East Izakaya destroys this assumption with quick seamless menu selection and unique delicious made to order dishes. We loved the uniqueness of the cloud roll and the veggie rolls that were wrapped in cucumber. We were not big fans of the 'bits' in the spicy tuna and other rolls; they made for a dry bite. Coming from an ocean bordered city I was skeptical about inland seafood, but was not too disappointed. Would happily go here again. We went for the lunch menu and noticed the dinner menu was very appealing. Would like to try that next time.

Selection of food was large, service was quick and friendly, taste was excellent, facilities were clean and comfortable, with almost no unrequired background sounds so you can have a conversation without having to raise your voice even with a crowd. Parking lot is not on site but is close by behind the building. It is a public lot that is metered till 6 pm.

Very fun restaurant to go to with any size group for any function. Very accommodating staff, will try their best to help out with dietary restrictions. For an all-you-can-eat restaurant, they have fairly good quality sushi/sashimi. My favourite part of this place is the service! Throughout the meal, employees walk around with sample skewers to bring to the table, so much fun and definitely a great way to try something new!

Everything was delicious, so much so, I didnt even get to try anything on the menu because I became so full. They have all you can oysters, mussels, and the sashimi is to die for. Literally everything is craaaazy good and do yourself a favor, order the peach ice tea, swear to God its worth it. Great sushi spot that does a la carte ordering as well as all you can eat. The building is a restored gorgeous brick with a full front of windows and the decor is modern. East often has staff walking around with tasting offerings, in case you want to try something without ordering a full portion. The best all you can eat sushi across southern Ontario and i've been to them all. The salmon quality is superb. The price isn't awful it's definitely reasonable. The only thing missing is a torched salmon roll, however they do have regular torched sushi and it gets the craving out. The desserts are some the best in a sushi place however there is less selection than some restaurants. The Atmosphere is the one of the best aspects too. It is a fancier sushi restaurant and with that comes amazing service.

This place is amazing. Not your typical all you can eat sushi place. They have staff that come around with more options on skewers - Yakitori - that are incredible and delicious. The waitstaff are very friendly and welcoming, always there to refill drinks, clear dishes and give napkins before you even ask. The grilled pineapple was out of this world. Ordered General thai chicken. It was a small portion compared to other sushi places. Warning there chicken looked dry and tasted like cardboard. They also looked like little pieces of cardboard. Kind of reminds me of the documentary on the street meat venders in China using GUTTER OIL.

My first time at this place and it ended with having a food-baby haha. Place like Wind-style, with great buffet, tons of choices, delicious food and last but not least - astonishing service. Great plus and nice surprise for me was that every ~10 min server will visit you with a "gratitude" snacks, or I would say more of appetizers-style food, like grilled shrimps, teriyaki beef, etc, which is great idea frankly. I would recommend this place a nice stop for lunch, if you in-desperate of East-style food. Thank you guys!

Love coming here! We used to go religiously to another sushi place and by chance we tried this one out and now we are hooked on East! From the prices being the best around to the presentation to the extra grilled food that servers walk around with, everything about this place is amazing. I love the variety of food offered and all the meat is delicious! As someone who doesn’t like seafood, I love all the vegetarian sushi options. Not to mention the servers are all excellent at their job! They are so welcoming and greet you on your way in and out. In particular we have had Joshua many times and each time he has been awesome. He is so friendly and funny, he really makes our meals entertaining.

Mediocre Japanese food at best. Don't be fooled by all the great reviews. If you're looking for true Japanese cuisine, this isn't the place. It's not run by Japanese people so the experience is not authentic. The sushi is passable but really not much better than supermarket pre-packaged stuff. There's also a lot of other types of cuisine so they really should not bill themselves as a Japanese restaurant only, more like Japanese, Thai. The service, however, is super friendly and they really hustle to serve their customers. Still, dinner for 3 with no drinks and a modest tip came to $124.

They had a steakhouse kind of meal set up as in while you are ordering sushi, waiters would come by and offer different kinds of meat(eg. Steak, shrimp). It is fairly pricey but it was worth the price. Place is busy, make reservations!

Good variety for vegetarians. Oddly was given the dinner menu during lunch hours and charged the dinner price. You have to be clear which menu youd like because lunch and dinner differ. The staff fixed the issue for us.

I ordered for pickup, but once I got home I discovered one of the items was not made correctly. I contacted them and they were very kind and offered to bring a replacement right to my home! I got it very quickly and everything tasted delicious. Great food and great customer service :)

Went for lunch and it was super good. Unfortunately had to stop myself from over eating but it was still worth it. Servers came around with fresh grilled meats and veggies- a great difference from the last time I was here. Ice cream sushi was an interesting end to the meal. Only odd thing was the server kept stealing my half used napkin! It was funny but I had to stop them. They would keep replacing it with a new one. I didnt think it was necessary but maybe its some type of policy.... Service was great. Definitely will be back.
