This Restaurant belongs to the category of Gastropub.
Food was good. But the older Asian lady accused my husband of stealing gift cards. She was in the bar area and seen him in the lobby area looking at the cards. And chased him down and accused him. He simply said no I was just looking. I found that very rude of her ..especially when gift cards are useless when they are not activated. You get two stars just for the chicken wings.
Every time I come here, all I can say is that I am treated like family and the food, drinks and service are top notch. Amazing atmosphere as well! This is not a place to pass up.
The food is amazing, one of the best burger I ever had. Staff is super friendly and they have all the local beers.
Service was awful, we sat down and she brought us menu's right away but then didnt even come back to take our order for drinks for 20 mins. It was not busy at all, about 10 people in the lounge. Only 3 draft beers were actually working for whatever reason. We got our drinks and one person asked for another minute before ordering food. We waited for almost 30 more mins and I had to go ask where our waitress was before she came back to take our food orders. The food was okay, half of our group really liked it and the others did not. Was expecting a much better experience than the one we had.
We stopped in on a Saturday evening. The Made Man hamburger was delicious. The side fries were great. The staff were friendly and welcoming. There is a good variety of dishes on the menu. It's definitely more of a neighbourhood pub than a restaurant. Highly recommend this place.
The atmosphere is pleasant. Good music and company while I visited this place. Had their Al Pastor tacos, it was good. I ordered three (3) plate vs a six (6) plate of tacos. Found that I could have used one (1) more taco to fill me up but otherwise I was pleasantly pleased with my meal. I would come again for the fresh ingredients tacos.
I am giving Tommy's 3 stars because I believe the staff were all having a rough night when we were there this past weekend. It seemed almost every table had issues. I do believe there is potential for this restaurant which is why I gave 3 stars. My dinner had to be sent back as the tuna was way way overcooked. Since I didn't want to chance it a second time they were happy to bring me the schnitzel instead. It was not a great start to my night as I was the one that chose the restaurant as an early birthday celebration supper. When I did receive my replacement meal it was delicious. The other meals at the table were also very good. I was a bit disappointed they didn't offer to comp my meal or at least take a percentage off since most of my dining companions were finished eating before I got my meal. With all this being said I feel I need to give the restaurant a second chance as maybe this was just an off night.
Shared the Tomahawk steak with my wife and it was worth every penny. Cooked just perfectly. The spaetzle was also really good. It was nice to see a restaurant do something a little out of the box. Will definitely be back. Make sure to try the cheesecake!
Entrance is confusing. I know they are trying to recreate prohibition days but we ended up in the bar not the restaurant. Food was delicious. Service was slow but we weren't in any rush so it allowed us to relax and enjoy our meals. I ordered my steak medium-rare but it was rare.
Great food and great service. I will keep coming... Thanks
Great food, amazing service and cool hidden 2nd door! Check this place out!
Food was incredible (had the filet mignon), and servers were polite, friendly, and extremely helpful. Tried the Untouchable (recommended by server), and it was great. Amazing experience!!
Great service! Super friendly staff!
Amazing food, unique weekly grilled cheese, friendly staff! Great gluten free options for those who are celiac. Definitely recommend!
Saw a post about their schnitzel dinner on Facebook. For a treat we pre-ordered it for delivery. Delivery was right on time, the food was still hot when it arrived (we leave across town) and it was delicious. We haven’t eaten here before but when COVID buggers off we will for sure be in for more. 10/10 would def recommend the food!
Once you find your way through the secret hidden door, you are instantly transported to a place filled with fun people and fantastic food. The decor is exceptional, the service fantastic and the food is not only delicious, but a treat for the eyes as well in its presentation. Our server was fun, knowledgeable, fast and made us feel very welcome. And if you’re a taco lover, well you just found yourself taco heaven. Highly recommend! Second visit was exceptional too. It was so busy had dinner at the bar. I gotta say, the bar banter is the best. All the people that work here are so fun and involved. It’s a real local place that makes you want to come back time after time. The vibe is great too. Had the schnitzel with zucchini and a smoked mustard gravy. Dessert was an apple filled empanada with ice cream and a bourbon sauce. Man it was delicious! Honestly, if you haven’t visited yet, please do. You will be pleasantly overwhelmed.
Couldn't agree more with the lady who said DO NOT GO TO Tommy's speakeatry...the Manager can't take constructive criticism, instead he tell his guest " too go home and scream at your microwave ,and you just hide behind your keyboard "when really he is the one hiding , after he threw his temper tantrum with us , a server came and yelled at us.. all cause we waited well over an hour for our food to get to us........honestly think the person who owns this place should step up before more customer's go else where........
Great tacos. Good service. Enjoyable evening, covid safe.
Tommy's is fast becoming a favorite restaurant/pub to eat at. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. My go to order is the steak sandwich which is always a good cut of steak and not a tough chewy piece like many other places serve for a steak sandwich. I highly recommend this establishment.
The server Amanda was outstanding So attentive there is nothing more she could’ve did to make our meal any better Awesome job thank you
Dine in
We enjoy going to Tommy's, but the service is poor. We had to remind the waitress several times on food orders, drink service was painfully slow, and one of the people in our group never did get the food that they ordered.
The food is great. The environment is incredible, it feels like a sketchy speakeasy, but it's not. I love it and would definitely come here again.
Lunch
Love the new renovations! Looks great. Very welcoming and open. Really happy that you kept the sneaky entrance too.
Great food and the servers are always good. I have been there a few times and it's always been a great experience
Service
Amazing food and the owner is a great guy. Very nice and friendly, would highly recommend.
Amazing staff and the food was incredible. I had my birthday here in February and we had a fabulous time!
Meal type
Went in for their New Years Eve event and we had a blast! The band was so good, food was amazing, and their cocktail menu is a must try. The lobster bisque was out of this world, and the steaks cooked perfectly. Cannot wait to come back for great food and great service!
Great food. Amazing staff! Even during the Pandemic the quality has remained the same!
Nice place...cool front door... don't be fooled...lol????
Beautiful setting. Food is delicious. One of the best burgers I have ever had in Regina. We had a sweet dish with churros in them.. damn! That was out of the world. Celebrated my birthday there. Staff is lovely! Thanks guys.
THE OWNER RESPONSE IS A TOTAL LIE!! A reputable business would accept their mistakes, try to make up for their error and would be respectful to their customers, they wouldn't lie and say their customers are lying just to try to make the bad review look false. Still no apology and only want contact to help them with their theme? If anything they need to work on hiring, training, soft skills and policies. Correction to their erroneous response: We definitely did not change our tune or emotions, they never asked if we had allergies and we definitely didn't say we can pick anything off - that conversation never happened, as the waitress never even gave us an option. Now not only were we treated badly in the restaurant, they're slandering us for calling them out on their terrible service, training and lack of policies. (The tomatoes were not the only mess up) DO NOT GO HERE. There was no gangster photos and a few old pictures of the city does not equate a speakeasy theme, you must feel like you're in the prohibition area, not Bushwakkers. ORIGINAL POST: There was two of us at the table, waitress got both of our orders wrong. When we advised her of the issues she blamed the kitchen, said she was going to give then hell, did not apologize, did not offer to remake the food and offered no compensation. The food was dry and had no taste. There was no speakeasy theme in the restaurant or lounge. Don't waste your money or time.
Enjoyed the ambiance. My wings were perfect. Last time I had cod and chips I was in Newfoundland and I liked it better here. Server was pleasant and my beers were good. A much better-thsn-average place for some food and drinks.
Awesome Buffet "Sunday Brunch" with so Many Delicious Choices, and Desserts... ya Dont Wanna Miss out on this Place... and the Staff were "Super Friendly" and went above n Beyond to accommodate a fabulous Dining Experience... 5 ???? Talent and Cuisine✌???? ❤
Decent food, but great atmosphere. Lots of beer selection. Would be good if more local craft beer on tap.
Came in for a Christmas Party in December and the manager was super accommodating. He sat down with us and helped create a custom tailored menu to ensure that all of my guests dietary needs would be met and not blow the budget. Service was excellent. I've heard their burgers are some of the best so I will have to be back!
This place is a hidden gem! Very cool atmosphere, they've completely stepped up their menu game. Service was fast,, helpful to point out good meals to try and professional (Thank you Kelsey!) By throwing the pool tables in there it makes it a great place to hang out with groups. Baked Lasagne and Smoked meat sandwich were amazing and came out hot! Love the secret door to get in guys!
Has a great menu, we had great food, couldn't have been happier. Reasonably priced, totally enjoyed it. Front door was awesome
Food was very good but could have a little spice added to the Saturday Special. We will return to try other food items.
The decor hasn't changed much since the place was known as The Chimney. Place was packed with lounge folk, apparently drinking rather than eating. It was our annual work Christmas gathering, so can't really rate the service - it was passable but didn't stand out, which was expected given the 20+ people seated at our table. Ordered something called 'Giggle Juice' (sangria) - it was bland and had very little fruit - a lime wedge and a lemon wedge. Wouldn't order again. For the main, I tried to order the house speciality pork souvlaki, but they were out. Instead I ordered a medium rare 10oz. strip loin steak - it was done to perfection, with a crisp sear and great flavor. The sides, however, left much to be desired - undercooked carrots, lemon roast potatoes that were both burnt and raw ... but the steak made it worthwhile. Prices were competitive depending on what you ordered - some items were comparable to high end steak places -$40 for filet mignon, for instance. All in all, I'd say it deserves another chance with a smaller crowd ata less busy time!
was here for the first time this last week. i guess they just did renos but it looks great. food and service were great. the owner came to check and make sure everything was good. nice to see a local business moving forward at times like these.
Xl all dressed pizza had next to no toppings including sauce...tasted bland. ..will never order another pizza there. .will have to use all my gift cards on wings I guess...really can't mess them up...can you? Too bad I cannot add pictures here..Don't usually leave reviews but this was so bad I had to...
Awesome food and prompt service! Been there a few times now -- the smoky caesar was perfect and I highly recommend a poutine or a burger. Delicious.
I wanted to treat my husband for his birthday but due to COVID, I ordered takeout. The bartender was very friendly but I was shocked to see an automatic 15% tip included in the price. It’s takeout! Why am I being forced to tip? I was also surprised to see how tiny our portions were for the price - 1 small piece of fish and only a handful of avocado fries which I paid extra to upgrade! My husband’s liver was very small and he had maybe half a cup of potatoes. All this for $75 and we were both hungry after we ate. Definitely not recommended. UPDATE - The manager reached out to me and refunded half my bill plus the auto tip. Thank you!!
This place is a hidden gem. Best brunch in town by far! You've got to try their brunch!
Good food, great service, and a fun 20s atmosphere. Can't wait to see the completed renovations.
We went as a group of 6 for brunch . the food was terrible and had been sitting around to long. Gratuity added on to an already very expensive brunch was dissappointing. Never again.
Eaten here a few times, and it's always been delicious. Servers are great. Overall wonderful place.
I took my grandson for supper here before his ball game because it was right across the street from the Kiwanis park where his game was. We loved it. The pizza was great and the service was great. Very unique place. I would recommend this place to anyone. I had memories there when it was the Chimney with my folks and now I will have memories there with my grandchildren at Tommy's Speakeatery.
Love the food. Excellent service. Cake is awesome.
Absolutely loved it! Few people, spaced apart good, awesome waitress handling all of us and food was amazing! Definitely coming back!
Tried a thick crust pizza with vegan cheese tonight and it was amazing!! Definitely will order again!
Tried for the 1st time! Loved it. We avoided ordering pizza from the Chimney when it used to be in this location because it was so expensive. There is a buy 1 get 1 free pizza special on so we gave it a shot. Ordered a large all dressed and a large spinach and feta. They were both wonderful. Would most definitely order from this place again as long as there is a deal on. Love have a restaurant in our little neighborhood so plan to support them whenever we can afford it.
so happy to finally have a neighborhood watering hole! been missing this in lakeview for quite some time. love the selection of local beer and the speakeasy vibe...so cool
Great food. Great staff. Doing some renos to spruce up the place. Definitely a good time.
Food is great as is the service. We've eaten there several times and it's kinda become our local spot for dinner and a drink.
Horrible take out experience. Waited 45 minutes for a pizza, after the expected normal 20 minute wait time. We were told the restaurant got "slammed" after our telephone pizza order was placed. Our 8 year old grandson and 3 year old grand daughter were waiting to eat at our house. Also, after my husband paid for the pizza, a different waitress asked if he had paid for it? Wow.
Super great food. Staff is awesome, friendly and willing to go the extra mile; even when it's not essential. Go in, take out or have it delivered. You will not be disappointed!
LOVE LOVE LOVED the specialty cocktails they had there, so delicious! And my dill chicken fingers were amazing!
The food was quite good. I had the smoked meat sandwich and really enjoyed it. The place is a little tricky to get into but it adds to the atmosphere.
Great food... Like absolutely fabulous.. Cooked to perfection and the presentation of the food rivals any high end restaurant you've ever been to.. Very friendly staff, all dressed in matching clothing, which brings the theme together and wonderful service. Great place to relax and have a few drinks after work or take the family for a memorable dinner. Dan, the owner, has done an amazing job executing the speakeasy theme throughout, from the creative themed menu, speakeasy decor, to the entrance, which is a hidden bookcase door, extremely well built. Everyone will find something they will love in their extensive menu. I've been several times, and must say their new menu greatly improves both the theme and overall quality of the food available. Go and enjoy the speakeasy atmosphere, great staff, and delicious food.. You won't be disappointed.
We went to a fundraiser tonight and was directed to the back room. We had to flag a waitress down for drinks and to take our meal request. Our meal hot delivered without cutlery. The 2 waitresses were extremely busy. The room was very noisy to the point that it was not enjoyable. The food was good 2 pieces of pizza and a small salad. I could have had more salad. I am unsure if I would go back. We have been there twice and both times they have not had enough staff.
Great place and great staff! Very neat concept and exceptional service. A place to go if you have never been.
The service was excellent The food was awesome. Waitress ess very attentive.
Mediocre food, uninspiring decor, good service.
Went First Time... Saturday January 5th.... Tho the Food was good... I find the prices Crazy High... My Husband had a burger///// i ordered a med 3 topping pizza //// Our daughter ordered the 1/2 portion of Liver @ onions.... 1 coffee @ 2 soft drinks... My husband got a soup @ i got a starter caesar salad.... The liver came without gravy... My husband ask for gravy for her meal and gravy for his fries.... Time for the bill and it took my breath away... $83.90 ... Like really... The gravy which is package .Powder cost us $6.00 for 2 gravys... Liver should always have gravy.... My sister in law got the soup/ Combo and her mom got a appy for lunch 2 drinks... Their bill was $42.00... A bit on the high level... We won't be going back there... At the end of our meal some young people started to play pool... These prices and u have to have a pool table in the dining area...
It was good enough to ensure survival and the rest of us want to go. That was written by predictive autocorrect. The food was good, and the atmosphere too once I figured out how to open the door.
Takeout order steak was fairly large and excellent. A+. Nicely charred on the outside. Good amount of fat on steak too, the tasty part. Starches were also quite good. Potato was flavourful. The take out experience definitely entices me to try their other dishes. Very reasonable pricing given the quality. The Keg will have to do better if it wants my business now lol. And I've been to some Morton's locations that could take a page out of the Speakeatry.
Good pizza, nice change, different from the norm...soft, fluffy crust and non-acidic sauce...sad to say that there was so little pepperoni on it though! What happened!!...my husband thought the same thing...curbside pickup with debit was perfect. Thanks guys.
My partner brought me there on Monday. They had oyster special. OMG... it was super awesome... had 20 oysters and one oyster shot. It is pretty awesome and the master chef is amazing.
This place should be famous for its lamb. Definitely the chefs specialty. According to our server its a family recipe. You can tell the chef really cares!
I've been a few times now and I very much enjoy the lounge area. The Dragon wings were burning hot with a nice vinegar hot sauce flavour that burns rough but doesn't linger too long. The cocktails are creative, local beer on draft is a must for us and the staff are personable and attentive. Every time I have been there, the owner\manager is wondering around and asking pple how things are. Much improved over the old place that needed the TLC that it now has.
Great selection of food. Very friendly welcoming staff. Great covid set up. Wonderful atmosphere. Really like the decor
Amazing service, super atmosphere. Food was fantastic. I will be back. What a find!
Hands down best burger in regina. The yam fries are an amazing side. Service was excellent.
The steak is fantastic and cooked to perfection. The food arrived hot and quickly with fries and a carrot beat side that was cooked in dill butter. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice "secret" eating place.
Delicious food, very friendly staff and a cool atmosphere.
Great food and great service! Lots of fun stuff on the menu to choose from. We will definitely be going back soon
Good vibe in here. Nice and chill. Pizza was delish. A pretty good variety for craft beers. If say thanks for the good time!
The bookcase is on hinges. It's like an escape room except you're trying to get in. It is an interesting experience. And they have food!
Staff nice enough to let us order some nachos before the allowed time. That said, if I was them, I'd be opening that up and not be restrictive to order some appys earlier than the time allowed. Folks dont want breakfast at 1pm. Pretty gopd nachos though! Will be back
I will not go back to Tommys Speakeatery again, the service was very poor, waiting for a pizza for over 1 hour and the waitress came back and said to us that they burned our pizza not once but twice.
Food allergies or dietary restrictions beware. Went here for lunch today for our last hurrah before our baby arrives. Total waste. I ordered the Vegan Burger which from the name of the burger, it implies the burger is vegan. It arrived with mayo so I asked the waitress if the mayo was vegan. She checked with the chef and she told me it isn’t. The waitress and the chef proceeded to argue with me that it’s entirely my fault for not specifying that I wanted a ‘Vegan burger’. We double checked their menu and they have clearly updated their menu recently indicating which items are ‘Vegetarian’ and which items are ‘Vegan’, if this burger is in fact not Vegan, it shouldn’t state that on the menu. She also told me that the bun isn’t vegan either and they could remake the burger for me but it’s not their mistake and I should have specified. Not sure how much clearer I need to be that I want a ‘Vegan Burger’ when that’s what I ordered. They remade the burger for me with a flatbread which according to their menu, is what the burger should have come on in the first place. When we went to pay, the waitress again reprimanded me that this was in no way their fault and that I need to be specific when ordering the Vegan burger. Again, clearly the chef is aware of the difference between vegan and vegetarian because they offer both on their menu. I couldn’t be more disgusted with the way this restaurant handles their mistakes and honestly for a Saturday afternoon the place was empty. If a restaurant wants to make money and have repeat customers they should honestly take care of the customers that are paying to eat there. With the economy being the way it is and the number of restaurants in the city, no one has to eat at a restaurant that couldn’t be bothered to own their mistakes, fix them and make every customers experience a good one. Very disappointing. Further, labelling food items ‘vegan’ or that it doesn’t contain certain ingredients to better help those with dietary restrictions all of which end up being false or mis-leading is a HUGE liability. Not worth the risk in my opinion.
Definitely the best tacos in town. Very authentic from Gringos Tacos. All you can eat taco Tuesday has a new face for me.
Staff are friendly and make you feel at home, food is homemade, secret door is always so fun for customers walking in, better go check it out! Ask about their wing of the week ????
I went to Tommy's for the second time a few weeks ago. Not being from regina it was real treat. Not sure what to have my daughter and I shared tacos. It was amazing. The waitress was great I asked her for suggestions. These tscos were pretty close to talk Mexican ones. I will be back.
I think the wait staff was great. The food flavour/portion, price, and cost of condiments were all pretty bad. Thin crust Desperado pizza was good.
Love the live jazz nights. It really adds to the experience. Nothing better than good food, drinks and tunes. Great local spot!
This place was brutal, I absolutely do not reccomend going there. The staff was all rude, loud, and obnoxious. My food got sent back because it was under cooked and when I got it back it was over cooked, the place wasn’t even busy. So I politely mentioned it again and they were nothing but rude to my wife and I. We had a skinny blonde server who was nothing but arrogant, obnoxious, and pushy. It seems like the staff is more interested in sitting at the bar taking shots, than actually serving people. This was our second time here and we had hoped it would have been a better outcome, however, it was not. Talking with a few others, it’s seems that this place has had this reputation for a while. In my opinion whoever the manger is, they are doing a terrible job. Great idea and menu/location, very poor execution.
Saturday 7 pm supper. Not much atmosphere unfortunately. Waitress was nice. Both burgers, the buns were dry and the paddies were ok, just nothing to rave about. Fries are a bit too thick. If you like them that way then you'll be fine.
Went there for dinner on Sunday night at 5:30 specifically to eat at Gringos Tacos. Firstly it's super weird that there is no branding or signs for Gringos Tacos and when we asked the waitress she said that they have a small section of the menu and a different phone line that you can call for pick up. So we sat in the dining room and service was extremely slow. Once our food arrived we asked for small plates for sharing and then waited 10 min before we asked again from a different server. The food was nothing special or authentic. The meat was dry and very little flavour, mystery cheese (not cotija) and the homemade corn tortillas were very similar to store bought. The only plus was the salsa verde was spicy and had flavour. When we finally got our bills there was a mistake and by this point we had already been there an 1.5hrs for a simple meal of 3 tacos. I had to leave and my dining partner spent another almost 20 min to finish paying. She observed that the serving staff really don't like each other creating a disfunctional atmosphere. The restaurant decor seemed alright, as they put in some effort but it probably should have gone to useful things like staff training or making the food taste good. I would definitely give this place a pass and unless you are looking for an adequate, not unique or amazing dining location.
Probably one of the best restaurants in Regina! You need to check out this often missed gem! They have an amazing and affordable menu, and great brew selection.
The food and drinks were both excellent. You can tell a lot of time and effort went into designing the menu. Our server went out of her way to make sure all of our needs were met and knew a lot about the food being prepared, but got the chef to come to our table when she wasn't sure. Would definitely recommend for a nice date night or drinks with your friends!
I usually wouldn't give the time of day to write a review but this place easily the best I've been to in Regina. Bartenders on point 100% good vibes, food amazing and prices reasonable. If you're looking for a feel at home bar & restaurant; don't bother with anything else. Brian and Kelcy thanks for the hospitality!
We loved our burgers, and our server was wonderful :) Good lil place, and my family also loved the pizza and fish!
Stopped in for a drink on our way home. Nice little lounge but staff are not very customer oriented. Had 1 beer. Came to $6.30. Got $13 back from a $20. Asked about the other .70 and was told "oh no one wants their change back". Sorry, but I think its MY DECISION if I want to tip or not. I would have left the 70 cents but if you take it without asking, you get nothing. After that, service was terrible. Gave them another try last night. Server asked how many more people were coming and I replied "a couple". She then said "Well that's not very helpful" and threw a menu across the table towards me and walked away. I got up and left. Strike 2!!
Very cool theme! This place is a well kept secret. It looks like an old prohibition bar. Great food and the cocktails are fantastic.
