Our meals were fantastic and our server was amazing. This was the first time we enjoyed food made right at the table and the experience was great. Tableside ceaser salad was enjoyed by our entire group and my steak was also cooked tableside - the smells were so good and the steak fell apart, no knife needed. if you're doing fine dining, the diplomat should not be your first choice. for the price you pay, what you get is disappointing. atmosphere is dark but still good. food is very disappointing and staff can be "snarky/snooty". would rather go to willow, roof top or the keg.

My go to quiet restaurant, great food, but your are able to hold a conversation. I have decided that noise level should be added to all ratings, as don't realize how import intimate settings are until you do not have them. The diplomat sets the bar for intimate dining with friends.

Went for a birthday dinner, was given a gift card as a Christmas gift. Food very good but very expensive, told them it was a birthday or waiter did not respond with a happy birthday or offer a birthday dessert. When I went to pay the lady at the desk I asked her about the birthday she stated with an attitude did we know and I stated we signed up for the birthday on the web site. She then stated we would have been offered a piece of cake but since we had a gift card we would of had to pay for the cake anyway. Her attitude left me leaving with a off putting feel and I felt like I was not welcomed and left a bad taste for the rest of our evening. I am going to tell the person who bought us our gift certificate for his staff of 6 never to waste his money there. Just to the people who want to read this chop restaurant gives birthday cake with s beautiful happy birthday written in chocolate and given a gift card for appys

**Worst Meal To Come Home To** I will start by saying that my family is not wealthy. However, after flying home for Christmas from Toronto on Dec. 19, 2017, to have a meal with my mother, she treated me with one at the Diplomat. It was my first time there. For a fine dining restaurant, one would think that a simple order of a steak sandwich and fries, and my mother's burger and fries, would be fresh--especially when combined, the bill totalled over $50. However, the fries were crusty, old-tasting an appearing to have recently thawed out. And upon being asked by our waitress how the food was, I said everything tastes fresh except for the fries. She would go on to tell the owner's son this, who, in turn, walked by our table a gave a snickering laugh. He followed five or so minutes later by saying he heard there was a problem with our meal, to which I explained the aforementioned to him. I said they taste old, frozen, not fresh. The man replied that they were, indeed, frozen, and that's what patrons at the Diplomat, purportedly one of Regina's finer establishments, liked the most. I replied that after travelling home from Toronto to be treated for a nice meal, I was disappointed that for over $50, not all of our food was fresh. At this point, the man became increasingly defensive by raising his voice--keep in mind, there were other people eating at tables nearby--and asking what else he could get us. He talked over my mother, and said "Another starch?" as he gazed at her burger and fries. He then called me out for my comment about the old nature of the fries, to which I explained honesty is important and for an expensive restaurant, this was a disappointment. I will never eat there again for what happened to my mom and I. I would have never mentioned anything about the privileged meal we shared if it hadn't been for the fact that it was my mom spending a lot of money on our meals and that part of our meals were old. Not to mention, the owner's son was an arrogant, loud-mouthed bully who tried to embarrass my mom and I through the scene he caused. Stay away, people.

I have been to Diplomat Steakhouse on a couple of business lunches; the service was good, however the food was not. My entree was too salty, so they offered to make another one & for my wonderful luck, my second plate was saltier. I asked my waitress to have the chef taste my food & after 5 minutes, the waitress came & apologized as they were using salt + garlic salt to prepare my entree. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Great place. Food is fantastic and well priced, the staff is very friendly, warm and welcoming. The decor is rich and comfortable. The history of the restaurant and its customer base is richly rewarding. Many political figures, screen actors and sporting personalities have dined here, their portraits and pictures adorn the walls. A must visit restaurant in Regina. Our server Grant is an an awesome guy who took great care to ensure our comfort and share the history and finer points of the establishment.

It was okay. Acceptable portions, great taste/texture of food. tight hallway at entrance makes it awkward to check out the wall of autographs. Big price tag that pays for the extra service and lets you be high maintenance if thats your style. I think I'd rather spend all the excess money on something helpful instead of a high class restaurant.

Incredibly disappointing, horrible food. We went here on Valentine's Day this year. Me and my wife each has a 10 oz steak with potatoes (due to it being Valentine's Day they limited items on the menu that you could order) each plate cost $48.00. The steaks were absolutely TERRIBLE. It's as if they went to sobeys and purchased some 5 dollar fast fry thin steaks, fried them up in a frying pan, dumped some butter on them didn't bother with even a single grain of any type of seasoning and sent them out for us to eat. I have never had a more disappointing meal on my entire life. And this place is supposed to be a fine dining restaurant? I didn't bother with telling out (very old, and incredibly awkward man) waiter about how horrible our food was as I didn't want to ruin the supposed to be nice evening with my wife. I will never return to eat here again. The food is disgusting and I cannot believe they charge the insane prices for items on their menu (ours 48$ steaks were the cheapest on the menu) Would 1000% not recommend eating here.

Staff was great and very accommodating. The place was very busy and everyone was ordering at the same time as it was prior to the Heritage Classic. They did a good job of accommodating our large group, and getting everyone fed and out the door. I had ordered the Peppercorn Filet, and it was not what I was hoping for, however the rest of our group really enjoyed their meals.

Been here many times, and I’ve yet to have a negative experience. A Regina staple and an experience I’d recommend to all. UPDATE: My entire group had quite a disappointing experience during our last visit. Despite staff doing their best(?) to make it right we all left disappointed. I’m only removing a single star as previous experiences were enjoyable and I’d still recommend this restaurant for everyone to try at least once.

This place is by far the top dining establishment in Regina. If your looking to celebrate that special occasion or impress that business partner, this is this place. The decor is something I haven't seen in a long time in restaurants in Canada. It is spectacular. The food is also top notch. It is rare to give a five star review but this place deserves it. The staff is very professional and knowledgeable on the food. Overall I came here twice during my visit. I would recommend you as well. Make this a stop if visiting the city. You won't be disappointed.

On Friday coworkers and I went to place an order and were turned away by the hostess because she “didn’t know if she could do that” despite having a takeout menu available on paper and online. She advised snarkily that they were too busy (at 11:15) and she could not figure out how to take 6 orders at once over the phone and separate payment when we all came to pick up. We placed a call back to the manager and he suggested that we all place calls separately - how could that make a difference!? When the call was passed from hostess to manager we could hear an audible “it’s her”. We often ordered from the Diplomat as we work across the street - we won’t be again and do not recommend it! In addition, our reviews on Facebook got removed - very sketchy!!!

You absolutely HAVE TO eat here! I had the best steak ever with wonderful ambience and the best service ever! They are having specials for their 40th anniversary and the prices are unbelievable. Hints... Call ahead to get the best seat (you pick where you want to sit), and come during the week because it's not so busy. Plentiful servings and everything was perfectly prepared, plus they make you feel like family.

I've gone here for several years now, recently I upgraded and tried a steak, all I can say is they know how to cook a steak! Well worth it. We go there often for lunch meetings, secretly I love their blue cheese burger, they do it up with all the fixings, and their own home made hamburger patty's. Our reservation was for 7... we waited 25 mins for table, my partner didnt enjoy his steak as it had an overwhelming smoke taste. We were asked if we wanted anything to replace it, we declined as we knew we would be full. We were here for our anniversary and it was a 40 year special anniversary for the diplomat, we paid nice prices for a good meal. But we are glad we didnt order off the regular menu. Server was great. But not a 5 star experience this time... I would go back but not for awhile.

This was our first visit to the Diplomat. Everything was excellent! The atmosphere was cozy, warm and refined. The service was top notch and the food was well prepared to our liking and incredibly delicious! We were even asked after our appetizers if we wanted to move over by the fireplace, when that table for two opened up. This was incredibly thoughtful and unexpected and we were doted on to move over our coats and drinks to the best table in the house which was freshly set up for us. A very romantic night for two well enjoyed!!

I love this place. The staff is friendly, and yet very professional. They are knowledgeable about their food and wine! We found them to be accommodating to requests, and loved our seating by the fire. I would highly recommend : Cosmo Royale, Steak Dianne, Chicken with crab, and tarragon (do not remember name), Château Briand, and the Flambe with peaches! The onion soup is lovely, but requires personal Seasoning!!!

I went to this restaurant with high hopes. It was fancy inside. Seating was hard but something that can be lived with. Food was no edible. Chicken was rubbery. I had 3 bites and stopped eating. When I was asked how the food was I told them my issue and they asked if I wanted anything else. As it had already been 30mins to get this rubbery food I was no hungry and didn’t want anything. I got my bill and they actually expected me to pay for this horrible food. Even charged me for the bread that was to come with it. I would say they could have done much better. Expectations are gone and will not return or recommend they business.

Last night was my 2nd time dinning there and the experience was just as excellent as the first! The food is always amazing and the staff is on a other level of great service, I couldn't recommend The diplomat enough. One of the best gems Regina has to offer for a quiet date night out, or an important business meeting. It's been in Regina for 40+ years and I see why. The diplomat is definitely becoming my favorite restaurant in town and I can't recommend it enough!

My. God. This place is meat church. I have never had such a succulent, perfect meal. I have never had to put both fork and knife back on the table, fold my hands and quietly appreciate my steak. Comparing what I can cook at home with my sous vide, butter basting on cast iron with a sprig of rosemary is an insult to this craft. Like a 5 year olds scribble to a Van Gogh. 24 oz New York was perfect, You won't regret it. Shout out to my man Grant, our meat sommelier for the evening!

Right from the moment you enter the restaurant you know it will be a great evening. The atmosphere is elegant and sophisticated but you also feel like you are at home as the staff and management treat you like family. We started with the Greek ribs appetizer which was delicious. I had the beef barley soup followed by the 12oz filet with sautéed mushrooms and lemon roasted potatoes. The steak was tender and amazing.

Went here on Saturday, both my boyfriends and mines first time despite being born and raised in Regina. It was definitely a lovely evening, our server Grant was awesome. Had the $40 4-course anniversary special. Apps were good, though escargot was really just the 6 small pieces, not substantial and I wouldn't order it from the regular menu (unless it came with in mushroom caps). Both had steaks, the NY and the filet, both cooked perfectly rare. My filet absolutely melted in your mouth the butter, and the stuffed potato...wow, dare I say it stood even with steak for being the star of the meal?! Yum! The seasonal veg that came with it left a lot to be desired, frozen green/yellow bean and carrot mix... didn't even have a full piece of baby carrot in mine. Got the bearnaise on the side, which I didnt personally find to have much flavour, but my man liked it. I got the chocolate torte for dessert, after seeing it at the table next to us, instead of the cheesecake. 100% did not regret that decision! ???? Decor reminded us of an italian mob boss steakhouse, especially the velvet booths. Very old school. All in all we had a great date night, would definitely come back for a special occasion, and request Grant as our server. He wasn't overbearing, was friendly and humourous, and for being two 30 year olds with tattoos and piercings he treated us in the same professional manner I would expect of a seasoned server. I'm used to dining at high end steakhouses like Ruth Chris. Unfortunately there is no Ruth Chris in Regina. When I am in town, this is where I hop down to for the closest think to a Chicago style high-end steak experience. I don't believe there is a place in Regina that does steaks better than this place. One of the best complete dining experiences I've enjoyed in ages. From the moment you enter the ambiance and attentive care by staff make you feel right at home. For starters all staff were masked. Liz was our server. No change that. She was our host. Aside from making sure everything was always topped up as far as drinks and ensured a steady flow of food. But it didn't stop there... she bantered back and forth with us...adding so much more to the experience. My steak was done to perfection. I like mine medium rare and it was exactly made to order. Seasoning on both the steak and in the rice was just enough to tease the palate and more than enough to satisfy. My wife & son in law had the feta chicken which was scrumptious. Was hard to choose between both but I hadn't had a steak in a while . I tried a bit of my wife's feta chicken and it was out of this world. My daughter had a melt in your mouth 8 oz filet Mignon. We all had the garlic shrimp skewer as an appetizer. Came hot with melted butter and the shrimp quality was great. Not rubbery as some shrimp can be but firm and just enough chew to it. We finished off with cheesecake dessert. Which was every bit as fantastic as the rest of the meal. Creamy moist but yet firm. And this was all for $41 per person. All I can say to the entire staff is a heartfelt thank you and kudos to all for making it such a wonderful memory for us. Added a pic of our son-in-law trying to meet the challenge Liz gave him to eat ice cream with a lobster cracker.

As far as steak goes in Regina the Diplomat is king. No where else compares, it is old school class, photo's of the Prime Ministers of Canada adorn the walls, photo's of pretty much every major celebrity to come to Regina is on the wall as they all choose this place. Smoke Salmon Soup is the best soup on earth....I love making soup, I make killer soup, I can't come close to this soup and sometimes I stay up at night crying because of it. Table Side Ceaser: Great salad....but the experience is what you pay for. They make the sauce from scratch right infront of you, I love garlic, if you talk to them tell them what you like you get it. Ribeye Steak: Only steak there is as far as I am concerned and the Diplomat is one of the only restaurants I will order a steak from as generally I am dissapointed with restaurant steaks. I have tried all the other steakhouses in Regina...Diplomat is hands down the best. It isn't the cheapest meal (I spend 50 / person without drinks but that is steak, soup and table side ceaser salad) and it is more than I can eat and I'm not a small lad.

This place is just a treasure! My mom and I were visiting Regina on a cross-Canada tour and this restaurant is what made Regina memorable for us! The service was honestly outstanding and the food was delicious. It truly is like a relic from the past of what fine-dining was like before all the chains and standardized menus came on the scene-where the chef can bring you creative dishes with varied and interesting flavours and that is exactly what happened. So final thoughts: MUST TRY IF YOU ARE IN REGINA!!

My girlfriend and I had a gift card to use and we do like fine dining. Had not been here before as i've been told the prices are outrageous. I was not misinformed. For that reason alone. We probably won't go back. I have had the same quality of meals at many other fine dining restaurants in the city for considerably less money. I'm still going to give them 4 stars though as the food was perfect, the service was amazing and the surroundings was very comfortable.

This fine dining restaurant is a great example of what a high quality and a very elegant restaurant should be like. The Diplomat is a great place to celebrate a wedding or birthday aswell as any special occasions you may have. The food is always excellent and the service is very consistent. This restaurant has a relaxed feel to it adding to the experience of enjoying there food and fine wine. Though being a steakhouse the menu has lots varietie such as chicken and seafood. A great tasteful meal for your first time would be starting with the Mushrooms Victoria then moving on to a 8oz Filet Mignon paired with wine of your choice and after that a piece of cheesecake. Though the prices are steep the experience is definitely worth the price. The Diplomat is a fine restaurant and you should definitely give it a try.

The service was EXCEPTIONAL, very friendly staff ,our needs were met immediately. Definitely one of the gem Steakhouses (and may be the best in Regina). Even after staying in South America for 2.5 years and with all those exquisite experiences of "Asado", I will still say Diplomat will definitely make it to the top 3 steakhouses we have been to till date. Ambience is very soothing and gives you a royal old British Architectural touch in their interior and theme, we sort of liked that thoroughly. Coming to the food, the steaks were indeed mind blowing. I was planning to taste world famous "Kobe beef" for a long time and when I noticed it is available under Diplomat's menu, then it was a must go for me. Although it burnt a hole in my pocket (CAD 80) for sure, but was definitely worth it.. I didn't become disappointed at all with the result. Due to their process of ageing the meat minimum 40-50 days before cooking, every slice and cut of meat is very tender (not chewy at all). Also they have special menu for 40 years anniversary which can be an option for many who wants to keep it under budget (platter comes for CAD 40 but will only be available till end of May 2019). Steaks and other menu items are a tad bit on the pricy side but the quality and taste they offer compensates that. Me and my wife enjoyed thoroughly! The place is suitable for casual dinner as well as special dates. Very polite employees always carrying a smile. Our server Rod was very friendly and we had a great time chatting with him too. I recommend the place without any doubt!!

We both couldn't stop raving about how wonderful of a meal we had and I felt compelled to leave an outstanding review. We have always really enjoyed date nights at the Diplomat and bringing the experience home during these unprecedented times has been just as amazing! The owners and staff are some of the most genuine people you will meet and the quality of the food is second to none. We thoroughly enjoyed our date night at home this evening. We highly recommend the Chateaubriand for 2! The steak was cooked to perfection and the portions were very generous. We appreciated all of the extra special touches. Went to Regina for a football game ( go riders won) will go back for the cognac atmosphere and the Wagyu steak. Grant was an easy going knowledgeable server. Went with recommendations from grant on appetizers which was the stuffed mushrooms and Greek cheese pita which they set on fire in front you!! I always had a Wagyu steak on my bucket list the only problem is now I want more absolutely delicious and worth the money. Need to call them to ask the cognac that I was drinking that night so I can go and buy a bottle for home. Look forward to my next visit to Regina and the Diplomat steakhouse. Thank you for making my small group of friends a priority and a such a warm hospitality.
