Great atmosphere. Quaint restaurant/pub with a lot flair. Our server was very personable and the food was excellent! I had the red house wine (malbec) with pulled pork sandwich, chippers and dip while my partner had a caesar with greek style ribs and caesar salad. Highly recommended!

We went there Sunday at 6:15 and waited to get service till 6:27 and by then the waiter could only punch in 2 of our happy hour requests. Happy hour is really the only way we can afford to eat there so it was very disappointing.

We had the pleasure of trying the Prime Rib Special this Sunday night and the food was tasty from beginning to end. The cocktails were great, the service was great, and the desserts were a lovely way to end the meal! The atmosphere was very warm and cozy which is perfect to get away from the cold winter weather. The menu is very accommodating for all diets (including vegans and gluten free items) and there is something for everyone. We left super full and will have to go back to try some of the other items! Chef Chris has put together an amazing menu and dining room for us, definitely check this place out!

Patrons need to understand this is not just a restaurant for the public but also a restaurant for all the residents in the building. This multi-generational building is home to many special needs people, fully independant and dependent seniors. So being conscientious of that will enhance your experience.

Absolutely used to love this place. However they recently redid their menu and increased their prices. This place used to be very personalized and now it just feels like any other restaurant. This is also a very nice place.

I have been hear a handful of times for lunch, dinner and most recently breakfast. My first meal would have been 4.5 stars but since then it has been an average experience. If they can get their consistency and standards up about what they serve this place could be one of Regina's best.

A bit of a late review, but a review none the less. My wife and I had taken her Dad to Roots for their Thanksgiving Dinner on the weekend, and we were VERY impressed with the quality and the amount of food received for the price of the meal! This is not the first time that we have been to Roots for a meal, and will definitely not be the last time either! I would recommend this place to anyone, especially for anyone who has a gluten allergy (as my wife does). Lots of options available, and very good quality as well!

Went there on a Tuesday night for supper, my girlfriend and I had the Mac & Cheese and I had the mac & cheese with brisket along with the butter chicken poutine. We were only ones in the restaurant at the time. Our food came out lukewarm and the brisket portions was not satisfactory for the additional $4 for the mac & cheese I had. Taste of food was overall bland and both our macaroni pastas more chewy than we'd hoped. We then had a Rockie brownie for dessert but it was very hard. To sour the mood/experience further, the waiter at the time split our bills wrong and we were told that it could not be undone. This is the first time ever I have been told at a restaurant they could not 'fix' their bills because it went through the system already.

The prices are really good and it has an awesome small, quiet restaurant type atmosphere which can be hard to find these days. If you're looking for a new favourite food spot or are simply bored of all the mainline restaurants in Regina you must try Roots kitchen and bar.

Hidden Gem of a Restaurant The second you walk in to this place it is warm and welcoming. Nicely decorated with a quaint rustic feel. The menu itself is simple yet refined classics and comfort food. Service is great and even has a fully stocked bar for dinner. Get there before it gets too popular!

Honestly this place is just okay. We came because a friend had amazing things to say about the food for the summer BBQ event. The concept of the restaurant is unique and the atmosphere nice but the menu is just okay - I know they are doing a new menu revamp in August so it might be worth waiting. However for me it wasn't the offerings in the menu that was disappointing but how they were executed. Our table got the Mac and cheese with the beer cheese sauce and had to send it back because it was soupy and bland. They brought it back even soupier with a stronger beer flavour which made us think they just reheated with more beer. The fried chicken lacked seasoning and the Mexican burger with cilantro, guacamole, jalepeno ketchup and pineapple all added up to an overcooked boring burger, despite the awesome ingredients (which I didn't think was possible). Also I've seen more appetizing frozen pizzas than what we were served (again despite the great ingredients). The only thing our table liked was the pork chop entree. On a side note when we sent back the mac and cheese and ended up with the fried chicken management was very accommodating to make those changes without a fuss. Then the service was incredibly slow we waited 20 min for a takeout box and our bills (there was only one other group). I also found it a bit nervy that when I didn't tip - for reasons listed above- the waiter asked if everything was okay. It was almost implied that I should be tipping regardless. I'm of the viewpoint that tips are for outstanding service or food. In this case neither was there. To be honest I've been getting such rave reviews about this place from friends that the quality of the food and the service was a let down considering that it was a pricey (for me) meal. I think this place has the potential to be great but it's not there for me and I don't think I'd go back anytime soon. I'd recommend roots, if you don't really require flavourful food or speedy service in a restaurant meal.

I love that I can choose more sophisticated or even more casual meals, but all with Chef Chris Miller’s gourmet touch. It is a great place for a family brunch, or even for a romantic date. Anyway, the best restaurant in the town! Take a look at the photo of the pizza that I took , it is impossible to resist!

Lovely place to grab a bite to eat. It is bright, the room is well thought out and put together. Many options on the menu. Every staff member was wonderful, kind, and cheerful. Seems like a positive place to work and a great spot to go just to hangout. I had the pulled pork which was quite good with the homemade chips and they have a build your own burger option. I would like to go back to try the shrimp tacos. The Mexican Food night that they hold once a month seems awesome. There is a room off to the side that you can reserve for a more private event. There is also a neat little coffee shop on the same level.

This place used to be so good. There was a chef that made the meals and they were excellent, especially any of the Mexican inspired dishes. I went tonight and it was terrible food. I could’ve had a better meal at McDonald’s. My boyfriend had the chicken Parmesan and it was just a piece of fried chicken with a slice of Parmesan cheese melted on top of it. I had the quesadillas and they were only seasoned with seasoning salt. I actually am thinking that might be the only spice in the kitchen because my fries were over coated with it. Also I spent over $70 for this meal. If it was how roots used to be, I would not have an issue paying for this, but the extremely low quality does not match the price.

What a great little place! Came in from out of town and it was suggested to us to try Roots. So glad we did! Our server Alex was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. She helped us narrow down our decision for lunch.(We really wanted to try one of everything!) I settled on the Prime Rib sandwich and it was absolutely mouth watering. Hands down the best I've had! My wife also loved the Chicken and Brie. Keep up the good work Roots! We will be back and will definitely be spreading the word about how awesome everything was!

The restaurant is located in Harbour Landing Village an all ages residence. There is a menu for residents and one for visitors, or people coming to eat. The restaurant staff is friendly and professional. The food is prepared by chefs and is excellent. Reservations can be made, and the restaurant is very busy, especially on weekends. There are a variety of food choices available for most people's tastes. The restaurant is licensed and alcohol can be purchased.

Unusual, a restaurant in a seniors complex. We went later in the evening on Sunday of a long weekend. It was very quiet (4 other tables). The waiter was friendly and helpful. Had the Sunday special - prime rib. The food was excellent. Chocolate torte was delicious, chocolaty and sweet, but neither overly so. Bill was higher than I was expecting though. Restaurant advertises gluten free, the primary reason I went. There were some gluten free meals, however much of the gluten free was substituting item with gluten with those without. Still though, a fair selection of gluten free items.

Overall had a nice meal here. The lack of parking is bothersome as there is only street parking available and at a busier time that fills up quick causing you to have to walk a block or two to the restaurant. The service we received also seemed a little disjointed as we were told they had no change to give when paying with cash and had to wait to get our change back. I’d say the food made up for it though as it was quite tasty and their menu has quite a variety. Will give this place another go in the future.

We use to go to roots for lunch quite often before the pandemic,decided to go for lunch there today. Was alotl different then before. The atmosphere we found wasn't as comfortable as it was in the original location. There was only one server who also had to run the food herself ( she was there in the original roots). She did a great job and was very kind. Was disappointed to learn that the mother and daughter were no longer working there as the three of them use to be the main servers during the day and always enjoyed their service. Was glad to at least see one original server

Save your money. Don’t go here. I wish I could give this place zero stars for the experience I had. I chose to order take out instead of delivery and that was my first bad choice. After arriving in the restaurant for pick up, they tell you to exit restaurant entrance, go back outside and stand in the entrance of a retirement home while you wait for them to bring your food. It was very uncomfortable and awkward situation standing in the entrance as people entered and exited their homes. I ordered an $8 soup which I thought could be worth the price if it was yummy, a good portion and came with the garlic focaccia it advertised…unfortunately that wasn’t the case. It was a tiny portion, too spicy for tomato soup and they forgot the bread. Definitely overpriced. Instead of handling it in any kind of way that good customer service would, they told me that they would not deliver the bread and told me to drive back for it. I will not be returning as a guest. And I will advise others of my experience.

I'm sure the food would have been better, but it was all cold when it came out. We went for Sunday breakfast, place was not full when we arrived. We waited over 25 min for our order to be taken, and an hour for the food to come out. Hashbrowns were cold, toast was barely toasted and wasn't warm enough to melt butter. Hollandaise on the benedicts had gone solid, and eggs were overcooked. All that said, the pancakes were really good, and about the only thing that came out hot. I know there's a labor shortage, but service was just terrible.

I live in NB, but want to move to YQR when I retire just to live at Orange Tree retirement community, and eat at the Roots Cafe every day! Best philly steak wrap I’ve ever had! And their array of desserts look amazing. I had the lemon tart and it was everything a good one should be. Just delish. The service was also just lovely! I’ll definitely be back here next time I’m in town!

Nice casual-but-classy place tucked away. There is a sort of cafe style main area with a couple private rooms that can be booked. We booked one of the private rooms for a little get together and the service and food was so good. They had a prime rib special on at the time and that's what I got. It was so damn good. The other meals at the table were equally great. I definitely would return or recommend it to people!

I have enjoyed breakfast, lunch, supper and brunch at Roots and have been very happy each and every time! The staff is always very helpful and friendly and Chef Chris Miller and team does an amazing job with the menu! Plus, the special event dinners, brunches and dances are ALWAYS a blast! It's also very neat to be able to see, and sometimes chat with, the residents at Harbour Landing Village! A very unique and delicious experience every time!

I have been to Roots restaurant on four different occasions with four different sets of people and each time has been a wonderful experience. We had great service, exceptional food, no feeling of being rushed or of having to order extra items or drinks and the atmosphere is great! Anyone else that I know that has been there feels the same. I will continue to support Roots restaurant anytime I want to go out and have a lovely relaxing meal that doesn't break the bank, and in an all-round environment that makes the experience a pleasing and memorable one (often!!).

The nachos are SO big for the price, need to have 2 people for sure. And if you go between 2:00-5:30 pm, you can get 2 beers and nachos for like $20!!! amazing deal if you can skip out of work early and hustle South lol

Service & decor are very good. My meal, not so great. Cauliflower & pickel appetizer deep fried heavy batter & kinda cold. Cubano sandwich was ok. Is everything served on cheese boards here? Trying a little too hard for that rustic experience. Oh well, my wife liked it. Maybe I'm just too picky.

Absolutely awful pick-up/take-out service. This is the third similar experience over the past several months. I won't be back even to dine indoors. Placed an order for pick-up by calling Roots directly tonight. I was told 25-30 minutes. Upon arriving at the 30 minute mark, I was told it would be another 20 minutes because they "were busy with Skip orders." Clearly the food wasn't even in the oven yet. I guess that says it all - Skip orders are more important than a direct order. And all you need to do, Roots, is tell me when I call how long it will truly be - set expectations correctly. So I waited outside for another 30 minutes. I then had to call the curbside pick up line once again to see where my food was. Staff on the phone says "oh I've been trying to call you and there was no answer"...which is a lie because my phone never rang. Long story short, I gave up and left without my food. It had been 1hr and 5mins, and all the while I watched Skip drivers come and go. I live 4 blocks away, I don't need a Skip driver (and the pizza specials/combos are not on the Skip website). I want to support the local neighbourhood restaurant, but this in my third straight experience with this level of take-out service and I can't bring myself to do it anymore. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

I ordered the fish and chips, saw pictures on some of the reviews and i wasn't disappointed by it at all, it was great! I'd say the place itself is cozy, be a nice place to take someone on a date, can focus on the individual instead of all the distractions you get from a sports bar haha. I'll definitely be coming back :)
