I hadn't been here for years because I found it too busy, and a little on the pricy side. My latest visit was quite enjoyable! The service was fantastic, the food was great, and the atmosphere was really nice. We sat on the patio, and had a very good time. We'll definitely be going back soon.

The food is great but the staff refused to serve a twenty year old because she had her license renewed and no picture ID. So I guess they don't need the business, she has been there for the last 2 years no problem I guess it's sylvan lake

Both my husband and I had not been to the Toad 'N' Turtle for a couple of years. The service was good but the food was bad. We shared an order of Nacho's with extra toppings. Well it was sad as cheese was very scarce and not much beef. With just 2 drinks each and an appetizer and nachos it was almost $90.00 and it was suppose to be Happy Hour. Never again.

Great atmosphere for any occasion. Food was incredible, thoroughly enjoyed the Grilled Cheese Brisket and the house Red Ale. Multiple places to sit including outdoor patios (downstairs and upstairs). Extremely friendly staff. 100% reccommend checking the toad out.

Went there with my wife. We were told sit where ever. Apparently we sat in an area where there were no waitresses. Others came in...given waters....orders taken. We sat for 20 minutes and basically left. Never been back. Cannot review the food because we did not get any.

Used SkipTheDishes to order from them. Send me some weird food not even close to what I ordered was the hummus and stuff mushroom caps. What I got was the hummus and some weird tub of cold hard cheese with some green and white and red stuff. Called SkipTheDishes they gave me a refund which was good but I wanted what I ordered tried to call toad and turtle got answering machine. I’m never going to order again from a restaurant but can’t even talk to paying customers

Amazing what a couple of months can do to a business, how quickly things can go horribly wrong. My latest visit 3 days ago, will be my last, I know that much. The Chef, Marion & the very reason many customers like us, returned time & time again, IS GONE!! The food is horrible now. A menu change was done recently, it seems nobody can cook it properly. Did all the competent kitchen staff leave? Our steaks, ordered medium rare, were served well done & cold. We sent both plates back. The table beside us returned a salad that had soil on the lettuce. We were here in March, everything was as we expected it to be, great food at a decent price You can tell the wait staff are not happy & taking the heat for the kitchen's mistakes. For that reason alone, don't expect much in the way of assistance from the serving staff. Once they have taken your order, they mostly hang around the bar, texting on their cell phones. When food is ready, cooks yell "PICK UP", yet no one does. Someone may browse the bill, if it's not their table the food waits until the waitress is told it was her customers order waiting. We waited 2-3 minutes before she put down her phone to get us our meals. Cold & over cooked, they were sent back. 30 minutes later, our steaks were medium rare, but the plate was wrong. We got fries instead of a salads & we never did get our appetisers that were ordered. Apparently the appetisers were never ordered, she forgot about them. Then, she had the gall to ask is we still wanted them after waiting an hour in total for our meals. In the end, the final bill was wrong, a pitcher of beer was added to our bill. The waitress dropped off the bill folder, never to return. Our waitress wasn't around to deal with it so someone else corrected the bill & took our money. Finally there was a gentleman terrorising the staff throughout our visit. Yelling at just about everyone, he was screaming at the kitchen staff through the window food is placed for wait staff to pick up. There was no concern of the customers, this man was hellbent on yelling at everyone he could, making our visit more similar to visiting a jail's dining room with the guards yelling at inmates than it was being at a friendly neighbourhood pub. We have eaten here once or twice a month for the last 5 years. For the last 3 years, Chef Marion made the food worth the price, it was great food most of the time. Now I tell people to avoid the place, spend their money elsewhere, the Chef is gone, the food took a turn for the worst, if you go, just drink, the food is not what it once was.

4 of us went for dinner. The food was delicious. The service however was terrible. We waited more than 15 mins before we were able to flag someone down to take our drink orders. Then took more than 10 mins to get our drinks. (It wasn’t really busy). Our waitress didn’t seem to care that she just forgot about our table. She got kinda friendly as we were paying our bills. Probably won’t be back

Ended up here around 9:30pm on a Saturday evening. The weather was decent so we wanted to sit on a patio. The server told us they were closing the patio. The bartender (may have been some sort of manager) was like "go ahead and go up to the patio if you want, it's fine" So we go up and sit down and order a round of drinks plus a dessert to share. The server obviously didn't want to be serving us cuz she didn't even wait for my response when she asked me if I wanted another drink. She just walked away. The mixed drinks we had were great, as was the dessert, but the service was garbage. Don't think I'll go back any time soon.

We really enjoyed our supper! Loud pub atmosphere but we were still able to easily have a conversation. Our yorkies and tequila shrimp boats were VERY tasty. Just what the doctor ordered on our drive from Calgary to Edmonton. Service was friendly and prompt.

Super annoyed that we went for 2 for 1 Appetizers tonight (Sunday) and arrived at 9:56 and was told the kitchen was closed because the restaurant closes at 11pm. I've worked in restaurants all my life and I've never worked anywhere that closed the kitchen an hour (and 4 minutes) prior to closing time.

Slow service. Had to wait 15 minutes after she said our food was ready to eat it. Brisket brought it back up to 3 stars though. Update: I emailed and still - nobody has replied. Further update: It has been almost 5 months, still no reply. Another update: 8 months now, they answered the phone and "couldn't hear me" as they were "losing connection" to the call.

While the servers are pleasant and the drinks are cold, the tacos are no bueno! I'm going straight to Taco Time after righting this review. The only thing spicy about my jerk chicken tacos was the Frank's red hot sauce i reluctantly poured on. Luckily for Toad, I didn't use much Frank's on the four chicken niblets provided to each taco. My fault for not sending it back but that's just embarrassing.

Ok so 2 stars because the soup was delicious however my wrap was full of watery sauce. My wife ordered the burger and the tomatos were white and crunchy, no where even being considered ready to eat. Also our drinks took way to long to arrive at the table and my refill came with no more ice then it left the table with. These small things make for a terrible dinning experiance. Note the resturaunt/pub only had 7 tables and was not that busy so the service was sub par!!! Unfortunatly tonight was not a great and it seemed that the waitress had no time for us as she visited the table beside use at least 4 or 5 times and us twice. The service was the worst part.

Nice staff, bad food Do not, I repeat, do not order a nacho from this place. What we received was a heaping pile of chips with maybe 1 oz of cheese. The waitress actually told my wife and I that they get that complaint a lot but can't say anything to clients. If that complaint happens on a daily basis, why are they still serving this poor excuse of a nacho? It was really horrible. Makes you wonder how 50 chips with a sprinkle of cheese with some vegetables can cost 15$!? Won't be going back.

I visited this establishment while staying in a hotel across the street. Sadly they do not have any kind of reliable hours, they close or open whenever they want to which makes it very hard to plan anything. The atmosphere looked nice and they have an outdoor patio which is popular. The staff seem pretty good, nothing spectacular though. Maybe try somewhere else close by if you are hungry right away.

Eat and Run. Not bad food, pleasant atmosphere but staff yells “hello” at everyone who enters pub. Very annoying! Waitress showed up to clear plates befor I was finished meal.. Then when plates were cleared, she showed up will bill and c card machine to be paid! Never asked if I wanted anything else of another drink! Guess she wanted me to leave! So I did, left small tip and left. Didn’t mean to eat and run, but had little choice! Won’t be back!

This place use to have amazing food but on our most recent trip we ordered the bison burger and ended up with a pre-boxed greasy frozen patti that felt like it was bought in the frozen food aisle at the local Co-op. The second slap in the face was the price for what it was. Go back to your old recipes and I'd be happy to pay the high prices!! I think I would skip this place next date night.

There is lots to like about this quaint little spot. It has a great homey feel with cute art all around. I really appreciated the foot handle bars in the bathroom to reduce touch points in the restaurant - a super clever move on their part. However, the food was disappointing. The calamari was super dry. I had two pieces of it and left the rest. Strangely, the server never asked why we left so much of it. The calamari needs some serious work. The brisket sandwich was good, but it was lacking in flavour. The appetizer didn't make me want to order a main.

Where to start. The portions are pretty small for $18 plates. I ordered a burger. Waited 20 minutes and had the wrong burger brought to me. I was told it was the cooks fault and he would fix the mess up. So when this burger comes back to me it looks the part, but my cheese isn’t melted and the patty was already cold. Nevermind there being no sauce on my burger. So I’m guessing the cook had somewhere better to be than making the costumer happy with the food he messed up. 10/10 wont be going there again. Well was a let down. First off music is for 14 year olds! Yuck! Onion rings tasted like chicken and fish and whatever else they cook in grease! Steak was not much bigger than a golf ball, no lie! And they charge $20! For that! Pretty sad. Place is almost empty for a reason. Someone needs to wake Calgary Head Office Up!!!! This place could be great, with some live music upstairs, maybe families welcomed in restaurant part. This place was dead with the Winter Games in town there is totally no excuse!

Went in today for a cold brew and a couple of appies.....the gal that served us delightful....the beer delicious and cold....the appies horrible ???? the calimari well there was hardly any mostly all the bits from the batter...tough what little we had....the shrimp..spinach artichoke dip and chips....yuck...shrimp had a fishy smell and the cheese on top was hard....ate the chips....not going to ever go back....our stomachs are still suffering????

It's a nice place for a cold beer however the pub grub is nothing fancy, chicken strips are cooked from frozen and the sweet potatoe fries were really soggy, almost wet. Server was great though, took it right off my bill. Would recommend getting rid of the frozen foods on the menu for the price you're charging.

Nice enjoyable meal with a good selection of appetizers and main meals. Also they have specials there are a great time to show up is after 8 pm or 2-5pm . I wish I would of known this.

First time I have been here in over a year, was a regular. Service was great, a tad on the pricey side, no happy hour. My half sandwich was a BLT, one strip of bacon, tomato slice and piece of lettuce - I know times are tough for restaurants, definitely not worth the cost!

The food and drinks were fine. Except I ordered a strawberry Margarita and received a drink that I could quite recognize although on the receipt it said mojito. My husband ordered a loaded toad pizza but asked for a substitute for the pineapples. He received a Hawaiian pizza with red peppers. So out an order of 4 items 2 items were wrong. The waitress laughed it off and we couldn't be bothered to complain, but we will find somewhere else next time.

Friendly staff, reasonable prices, amazing food (it was gone so fast that I couldn't even take a picture), good atmosphere, very clean. They had indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. Music was a bit loud and kind of random, but that's my only complaint. Just a note: This restaurant is 18+ and they will ID you if you look on the younger side. This was no issue for me, but if you're traveling with kids or teenagers, you'll have to find a different place.

Sorry I tried it again and won't be back for food any time soon. Took my wife for lunch. Your mushroom caps were literally button mushrooms. Dime size under shredded Pollock and a cheese slices. A Kraft single with burnt edges. Fish tacos were a deep fried fish stick with tarter sauce on and brisket grilled cheese as soaking in grease. I had to dip it in ketchup for taste. Girls were friendly and beer was good. But your food is horrible. This isn't my first or second go and now I'm done and writing this. Sorry TnT fans but I'm not one.

The group of 3 of us all ordered so much food that we had lunch the next day as well. All for 60 ish dollars. Some of the best bang for your buck in the area. Unfortunately, the wait staff while polite, was abysmally slow despite being literally the only table there. But once the order was in, the food came hot and quickly. We all tried the bacon cheeseburger wrap, poutine, Turtle tracks, and deep fried pickles. Due to appetizers being buy one get one free, it was an exceptional value.

Ordered fish and chips for.20 bucks on skip. WASTE of money , 2 small pieces of fish and a handful of fries. NOT WORTH 20 bucks. Ad the coleslaw was also extremely small. Will never go or order again.

I’ve been to this pace dozens of times over the years. Service is usually fast and the food is average. Recently, on a Tuesday, I stopped in for dinner and a beer with a friend. When I asked if they carried beer from a particular local brewery, I was told no. I was really disappointed because: 1. I love to support local 2. I love that beer When I suggested she pass along the message to management because I much prefer to support an establishment that supports local, a very awkward conversation followed about how this local brewery refuses to sell their beer there and that it’s not Toad N Turtles fault. I was surprised by this admission and the manner it was delivered in. You could tell there was bad blood there somewhere. She suggested a similar beer to the one I had said I enjoyed. The beer she suggested was not similar and I didn’t dare mention this after the previous conversation for fear of what attitude I’d be on the receiving end of. The rest of the night went downhill. That server must have gotten off shift, because we never saw her again. Two other employees served us for the rest of the night. We looked for the woman that had been our server initially but it seemed she had left the building. I don’t recall ever having a server just up and leave without at least informing me that I would have a new server. I will probably go back because I live near, but I don’t expect very much in the way of service and products offered. Convenience and good cheap wings on wing night are about all I will return for. ** In reply to management’s comments below - There wasn’t miscommunication. I specifically asked my server about Troubled Monk and she shared what I explained in my review. I’m unsure if the server was just having a bad night and took it out on us or if she really did believe there is a bad relationship between the two establishments, but that’s what I was told.

Was half price pizza day on this Monday. Pizza was really hot, fresh out of the oven. Not a complaint at all. Fair amount of toppings. Large pizza and four beer was just over forty bucks before tip. Happy with price, service was great. No complaints.

This is our favorite spot for wing night Wednesdays! The best wing flavor is blue Buffalo but I've tried a ton of others and they're great too. Other than wings the personal nachos, fries, and steak sandwich are all my faves. Service is usually amazing and the manager seems really nice, always running food out, cleaning up tables and making witty comments. Dessert is great there too, recently had the deep fried ice cream and it was fantastic.

One of the more authentic pubs you can find in Red Deer. Loud atmosphere with a large projection TV to display the latest hockey or football game. In the summers the patio is a nice option to have. Servers are courteous and do strive to get your orders out as soon as possible. Foodwise, their wings are to die for, especially their "suicide caesar" option that isn't on the menu. Otherwise, their regular menu is what you would expect from an establishment such as this.
