Quirky decor reminiscent of an authentic sugar shack! Great ambience and while the decor itself is kitch, the food is an upscale twist on French Canadian comfort food. Make sure to try the maple taffy at the end and bring your markers before going to the washrooms ????

Best breakfast I've ever had the bacon and fresh bread were one of the best I've had had breakfast here 2 days in a row .

Incredible food, a true culinary delight that amazes the senses! The service is fantastic! We came for my birthday and they really go out of their way to make your evening special. The decor is awesome, funky vibe with the traditional Old Port feel. I can’t say enough good things about La Buche. Thank you for the fantastic birthday evening. We can’t wait to be back!

10/10! Phenomenal service! Great food, live music during breakfast! All you can drink mimosas! Very very tasty. Would definitely come back to try out other menu items!

La Buche was the restaurant that our hotel (Chateau d Pierre) uses for breakfast. We are here for breakfast for 8 days. You do need to make a reservation, and for weekends do so early as there may be no availability. Our food was excellent every day. THe eggs perfectly cooked, the toast was awesome and the atmosphere unique. I loved the restroom area and claw foot tub used as a sink. The staff was beyond friendly and attentive. I definite recommend La Buche.

My friend and I visited on Friday evening. It was almost full but they had few tables so we sat down right away. I like the decorations inside. The bathroom was very interesting. We ordered rabbit wings, deer tartare, and Sheppard's pie. I thought the portions were pretty large. My favorite was deer tartare.

Sheila Thornton

Great place with typical Quebec food. Doesn't take itself to seriously which is just great. Great staff really enjoyed the evening. My wife had the bison which was really good. Not super cheap but compared to the average quebec city prices i think they are quite correct.

Yummmm..... Unexpectedly awesome place. Not knowing french I went there with the assumption that I would have a hard time to place the order and enjoy the food. But I was all wrong about the place. The waitress was super awesome and she described everything that we wanted to know and more... The food was super yummy and would definitely recommend this place to anyone in this area. Apart from the food there is one more thing which caught my attention- the restroom, a totally different way of art work and how they provided hand towels yonwach and every customer who needed one.

One of my new favourite place to dine in. The interior is amazing and has a different layout. Great ambiance. Great food and no smell like the restaurants usually have. The girls working there were kind enough to get us seated at our desired place (near the window). Also they took our orders seriously and suggested what might go well with them. Very friendly staff. Makes me want to go their again.

One of my favourite meals of my life. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and had excellent suggestions. The rabbit wings were fall off the bone and insanely delicious. The venison tartare and poutine were fantastic and the highlight of it all was the poor man's pudding for dessert. Worth a trip.

Sara Baig

Wow, wow WOW! Traditional Québec meals. Cozy atmosphere, with a sugar bush decor. Had the french toast and was only able to finish 1 of the 2 breads. A must if you are staying in Old Québec.

Saddened to say this was a very poor breakfast experience. Coffee tasted like water. We asked for a refill, but the refill tasted the same. The French Onion soup was lacklustre, the main ingredient seemingly being cheese. The poutine was incredibly salty, the cheese curds cheap and plastic. The staff was nice and the ambiance very lovely, but the food incredibly poor. Left a bad taste in our mouths for a couple of hours afterwards.

Ohh my! Food is delicious. Everything we ordered was super but fondue in the bun was something incredible. I couldn't breathe when we left. So full. This is the place to go for the real amazing french cuisine. Thank you guys. We've got a true culinary pleasure

The French toast was great, nice apple butter, the bacon was delicious.

Not too busy during lunch time on Monday. They offer brunch menu when we were there. I like the decorations in this place. The bathroom is something you don’t want to miss. The food is good except the French fry that is too soft and probably left over.

I will explain why I gave 3 stars. We have been there two times, one time for breakfast, one time for dinner. Service is good, nice atmosphere. No problem with that. The food though. And I will say right away I’m originally from Europe and North Americans may not agree with me. Matter of taste. I heard the owners are young and they wanted to Americanize French cuisine and that’s where I find fail ????I think version of rabbit wings is a fail, all this bbq sauce seriously doesn’t go well with rabbit and I’m a fan of rabbit meat myself. But that’s a no sorry. Also in my omelette with mushrooms I often felt sand on my teeth, which isn’t pleasant at all. What we liked there was onion soup , that was a wow and I highly recommend. Other than that there are much better places for breakfast and for dinner in beautiful Quebec City. I think this restaurant has a lot of potential if only they changed their menu and meals.

Laurel Jones

French toast was not to my liking. The brioche bread was dense and egg had not gone into bread so was very dry.My poached egg was raw in center so could not eat it. They rushed you through it appeared so they could seat more people ??? Don't recommend this place.

Marina Kim

The last time I was in Quebec City was a year ago, and I stumbled upon La Buche quite accidentally. There are so many places to eat in Quebec City, that it was basically the one we happened upon. Boy am I glad that we happened upon it. The food was phenomenal and the prices were great! Don't get me started on the dessert because I still haven't come down from my sugar high yet!

We were on a hunt for great Québecois breakfast and this place had great reviews. We ordered the Big Plate and it did not disappoint! Great decor and great service as well - highly recommend!

Lovely restaurant, great vibe, interesting and fun sink in the washroom. Everything else other than the food was great. We were 2 families of 4. Our family started our meal with the rabbit wings. Unfortunately they were super dry and the sauce felt too saucy and sweet versus it being lightly sauced. It felt that the sauce was trying to cover up the dryness of the wings. Our next dish was the Pan-Fried Foie Gras and Poor Man’s Pudding and Bacon. The Foie-gras was good, but the pudding with it was just too sweet, felt like you were eating sugar with it. The French onion soup was good. The deer tartar was good, but came with too much fries and a salad. Not sure that combo worked. After having read great reviews about the place this sure was a disappointment.

MisSunYH

This places is amazing! The food was great and everyone is super friendly but what impressed us most was the ambience. It's a super unique place, we loved everything about it.

Kc Budders

Loved the Sugar Shack breakfast, the variety was fantastic! From crepes, ham, bacon, toast, pulled pork, scrambled eggs with cheese, baked beans, and potato totters! Our favourite would be the Lapin Frit Et Gaufres (fried rabbit with waffles). It was sweet, salty, and savoury and the fried rabbit tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. Ordered a hot coffee chocolate rum too! Best way to start the morning.

Vincent H.

Was good. Food was good. I guess my wife and I aren't that fond of French/Canadian cuisine I thought it was a little over priced but again maybe for us it wasn't worth I had the Bison skirt steak. It was cooked perfectly med-rare. My only critique would be that, the sauce and the vegetables were a little bland. Same with my wife's salmon"pie" It would have been better with a little more seasoning

We went in September of 2020 and found it to be a mouth watering taste of Quebec! This restaurant came highly recommended by our tour guide who suggested it for its meat pies and pea soup! We were having a late lunch and ordered the pea soup and Shepherd's Pie - both to share. The presentation was so attractive and the food was absolutely delicious! In addition, the decor inside the restaurant was warm & rustic with the perfect edge of trendy. We loved our experience here!

Jeff Carter

Wow! Really enjoyed eating here a lot. From the decor to the food and it’s presentation, I greatly enjoyed every part of the meal. The complimentary maple syrup pork rinds were so good, my partner and I ate 3 servings together. The grilled cheese was interesting, as the cheese was fried! And $5 CAD to upgrade the fries to poutine was definitely worth it. I myself got the meat pie, and it was very tasty. Only knock was the difficulty to eat it, as the crust was separate and sat on top of the pie.

A super busy restaurant, make sure you make your reservation! We had breakfast here, included with our hotel package, and they were sold out for their breakfast when we tried to make reservation online. So we were there right at 8am when they first opened, and we didn’t have a problem getting a spot. By the time we finished eating by 9am, there’s already lines up. The food was great, love the thick candy bacons, and the caramel sauce crepes were so good! Love the textures of the crepes, thicker and chewy! The decor is interesting, and the bathroom sink is a bath tub!

Patricia Zhou

Food was excellent. Got a Salmon Crepe cause when in Quebec…. The Salmon Crepe was awesome. Prices for the area were great.

Elena Tsygankova

Seated on time for reservation. Drink in hand quickly. Appetizers and mains served promptly. Unique restaurant decor. Excellent food. We had the French onion soup, Shepherd's pie, and meat Tortiere.

Very cool place! Fantastic ambiance. Old stone walls littered with traditional québécois antiques. Many tasty things on the menu, you will have to go back a few times to benefit from the whole menu.

Went with a friend for dinner. We ordered Famous Onion Soup with Bone Marrow and Candied Cipollini & Magdalen Islands Scallops, Coureur Des Bois Sauce, Creme, and Bacon & Pate Chinois (Quebec Sheppard’s Pie). The soup and scallop dishes are amazing! The Pate Chinois was meh, but very filling. Service was wonderful. We’re looking forward to returning for brunch!

Wassim Ayass

Found this place after finding “rabbit wings” and knew I had to try. Unfortunately they didn’t hold up to their hype. The dipping sauce was a bit too thick and bland for me. The bone marrow dish was delicious and French onion soup was amazing! I will definitely return for this in the future. Deer tartare was tasty; a bit gamey for me. Bison was good but I don’t think I’d get it again. Best dish was definitely the bone marrow and French onion soup. Waiter was very attentive and nice. Once the chef saw our order he came by to say hello and have a quick chat, and later checked up on us as we went though the meal. Decor is very hunter style- at the lodge vibes. Washroom set up is interesting! I like that they have actual towels rather than disposable paper towels. All in all a nice restaurant! Friendly to tourists. Thank you for your hospitality!

David Schellenberg

Wow what a fun interesting atmosphere of a restaurant went for breakfast was certainly well worth the visit. We had bacon and sausage with eggs it’s nice to see that a restaurant uses real sausages and my the bacon was amazing throughly enjoyed the restaurant the food was super tasty waitress very accommodating and friendly professional prices are realistic for the food quality and what’s nice depending on where you sit you see into the kitchen wait time isn’t long at all.

Eric Labonté

Very cute lumber jack feeling restaurant. Honestly a little over priced and the food was classic Canadian lumberjack food. The maple bacon was very good but the ham was not very flavorful, 3 star food. We got the sugar shack and the fat mans omlette. Sugar shack was good but expensive but omlette was very average. Great potato homefries and crepe though! Had a bit of an issue with one dish and the waiter took amazing care of it, hence the extra star for service. They also gifted us a pudding which tasted incredible. Overall great place to go for dining experience and decor but food is okay.

Ivan Tran

Had a fabulous dinner here. Walked in without a reservation and seated straight away (6:30pm on a Saturday). Great selection of food, the Quebec style shepherds pie was delicious. Added touch of complimentary pork rinds with maple and pickles. Great service and very cute decor.

Monica Peña Cid

Wow probably the best French food we have ever tasted. This restaurant was recommended to us by the local and became the highlight of our trip to Quebec City ! #vegetarian style poutine is to die for! #maplefrenchtoast was made to perfection and we just couldn’t stop praising the hospitality and comfort of this beautiful restaurant.

Fried chicken waffles supried me with spicy touch. I would say it is my first time to having it spicy, and it works. Cabane à sucre dish is decent good, with their little specialty. Lovely brunch here, nice service! Super recommended!

Delicious! Wish we could eat in but Quebec City is heading into the red zone so we decided to be safe and do takeout instead. The soup came in the coffee cup, but it worked. The smoked salmon was delicious, especially paired with blueberries. The shepherd's pie is delicious. Everything was great and rich (as per most Quebec food). Will definitely come back to try their brunch.

Stephanie Somerville

The atmosphere here is very relaxed compared to a lot of the places in the old town. Food was excellent and service was the same. After you order, they bring you pork rinds with caramel, and with your meal they bring beets, pickles and pickled onions, which I thought was a great addition. I ate the tourtiere (as you should when you come to Quebec) and have nothing bad to say about it. It is a “meat pie” with the meat on the bottom, the pie part on top and then the “fruit ketchup” as they call it on top. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting, and I hear that most locals agree as well.

Luba Guerassimova

Great ambience in this busy low key restaurant, and efficient and friendly servers. Very generous portions - les plats principales (main dishes) are big enough to potentially share. The smoked salmon salad is full is of great ingredients including the salmon, bacon, halloom, blueberries and a poached egg. The shepherd's pie is served reversed with a big pile of mashed potatoes and a smaller portion of corn and the shredded tender meat and gravy.

I W

We initially thought their rabbit wing will taste like fried breaded chicken, but the rabbit is grilled with maple sirup and is sooo tender! We also ordered poutine maison and smoked salmon maison, both homemade. The poutine sauce is made with grounded pork and maple sirup. At the beginning, they will serve you a pork ring with maple sirup and pickled onion and radish as side. Portion is very big, price is not expensive, taste is very local quebecois and they have a must see decorated washroom. A must drop by restaurant if you are going to quebec city!

Pradyumna Gujjar

Chanced upon this funky restaurant while looking for brunch in Quebec City. Love the decor and the ambience really enhanced our experience. My husband had the chicken and waffles which he loved. The sauce is not that sweet and really compliments. I had the crepe with cheese salmon and spinach. I find that the crepe is abit too thick but not sure if that’s just the Quebec style. Loves the cheese and salmon.

Ramon

I love the way they design their menu! The yogurt was delicious! The omlette was soft and creamy! The salmon crepe was a bit salty but overall it was a great experience!

Bec Dyce

I tried some transitional Quebec foods, the pâté chinois and the rabbit wings, which tasted really good. The service is also excellent.

Monique Pierpont

Had dinner here while visiting. I enjoyed having unique items to choose from that you wouldn't see in a typical New England (where we're from) menu. They give you free caramel pork rinds, rolls, and pickled beets and onions before your meal. I didn't try the bread but everything else was good. I ordered sausage (was more like salami), deer tartar, and smoked salmon. A+ for all three.

Jeremy Spears

I came here for lunch recently. The restaurant gave a very cozy and chill vibe. Service was also good as the server gave me a rough idea of how much food I was ordering. I tried the Sugar Shack, which was excellent. There was definitely quite a bit of food: Beans (Sweet & Savory, nice flavor, good mix), Scramble eggs (Light in flavour, firm, good balance with other food), Crepe with blueberry (Sweet, comforting, nice thickness for sauce, slightly sour berry was a nice touch to offset it from being too sweet), Bacon (Thick flavourful slice, a bit too dry/hard at parts, very nice sweet glaze), Ham (Just the right flavour and thickness), Sausage (Nice crunchy, good flavour), Minced pork with mustard (Tastes ok, good with mustard, compliments the rest), Fried meatball (Crunchy, very nice rich beefy flavour, adds another type of flavour when eaten with the sauce), Toast (Soft, buttery)

Nora the Food Explora

Loved the breakfast here a bit too much. I thought the salmon crepes sound a bit weird so like I always do I tried it and absolutely loved it! The flavors go so well together. The breakfast poutine was another delicious flavorful option if you love a big breakfast. The service was excellent and I loved the interior ???? Recommended if you’re in Quebec City!!

Best chicken waffles ever!!! Chewy waffles plus crispy chicken plus tasty sauce????????????

One of the biggest joys of a vacation morning is the luxury of waking up and not having to cook. Of course, out of the many breakfast/brunch locations in this lovely city has to offer, I found it hard to pick and choose my favorite. Yet the deciding factor was their chicken and waffles, reasonably priced, great portion, drenched in this amazing sauce that is both sweet and savory. It is a flavor so unique that I haven’t had anywhere else. Unlike the chicken and waffles we have at brunch back in New York City, this chicken was not crispy and the waffles tasted more like a cake than a fast food waffle. Definitely give it a try if you happen to be nearby! We arrived at the restaurant at around 10:15am and the line was already super long, if you are willing to sit out side (mind you this was late autumn and it was windy and cloudy, but it was totally worth it) they can sit you earlier.

Nancy Le

A low key culinary adventure. Settings are rustic, cozy, warm, and unpretentious but food quality and preparation are on par with upscale dining. Rabbit wings! (pictured on the left) I have never seen this style of dish offered anywhere else, and it was delicious and well prepared. I believe the dish in the middle was a special. And of course, you have to get the bacon since you're in Canada - it did live up to its reputation. Great coffee too. Really hearty, satisfying, filling food in a modern, hip place. Awesome place for brunch and best place to nurse a hangover. I actually think this is best for brunch, or can be classified as a brunch spot, as they have an exclusive brunch menu. I could only visit this restaurant once, but I have been considering returning just for the food in Old Quebec City. This is a standout place. Menu options are printed in both English and French. Waiter was friendly and welcoming and spoke both languages and recommended the dishes I ended up ordering and I was very satisfied. The temperature is quite warm inside, which is important in a cold city. You can come in and dine dressed down. Many of the staff were wearing flannel, so there is definitely a lumberjack theme here.

Food looked great, but was a little underwhelming. Poutine had a slightly weird flavour to it. Was expecting more flavour to the tourtiere. Was also quite small considering price ($27).

Lee Draper

Lively environment and decor. Sitting by the window seats on a sunny day and it would be the perfect breakfast! Walking into the restaurant and you notice the place smells fantastic and the food that arrives tastes just as good. For breakfast, I will say $18-20 per item is a bit pricey but if you're not eating here everyday, it is definitely worth the occasional visit. The food was spendid and the portions were large. No complaints from me!

OMG! This was our first time having traditional québécois food and it was amazing! We ordered 5 dishes and they were all excellent. The one dish that really amazed me was the pork belly and scallops in maple cream sauce. Out of this world!!!! The flavours are just unbelievable - the pork belly fat just melts in your mouth. French onion soup was so thick and cheesy. Poutine came with a sausage and was excellent! The smoked salmon on the salad was made in-house and so was the sausage, I believe. Our server, Nick, was very attentive and helpful. Overall, the ambience, food and service were excellent! We highly recommend this place to anyone who’s curious and want to try Quebecois food.

David Tucciarone (Core Worlds)

This place has an amazing decoration. We felt in a cabin, even the ceiling has beautiful decoration details. I highly recommend this place, because it’s not just beautiful, they also have a delicious food and kindly service. It was a pleasant moment I definitely want to be there again.

We were in Old Quebec City for a day, and we wanted to find something local, also the tour guide recommended this place, so we went. Unisex bathroom is funky, and smart Crepes were the best we had. We both love it. Hang over breakfast is similar to a breakfast poutine We strongly recommend this place

Anthony R.

Love this place, their food, the decor and their service is so good even though they are always full! I had mentioned that it's my husband's birthday while reserving a table and even without any reminders, our very nice waiter brought over a pudding with a cracker candle and sang happy birthday for the husband! It was such a nice gesture. Also their food is amazing...the French toast was delicious and so was the omellete!

Shawn Corkum

Came back to this place after visiting Quebec city 5 years ago, and the food is still just as great tasting. Their Quebecois Sheppard's pie and the meat pie were delicious. The Sheppard's pie was extremely comforting to eat. The meat pie had chunks of generous portions of meat with a deliciously dressed salad. The food was so good, and the staff were even better. Superb service.

We visited twice in this week. First time we got grilled cheese and french toast because it was late lunch time and we didn't know that they don't offer dinner menu on Tuesday at all. I think brunch menu is basically quite pricey.. When we went for second time, we got some pieces of scallops and pork belly as appetizer and deer???? tartare as main dish. It was all flavorful and rich. Their service and food make me curious of other menu items and keep coming back ????.

A really cozy and nice place! Had to takeout because of COVID, but I had the fried rabbit on waffles and sugar shack meal. The fried rabbit is quite small as a portion, but still tasty. The sugar shack meal is quite filling and also a good meal. Coffee comes with the meal and is surprisingly good and above average coffee in typical brunch restaurants. Quite similar to a Starbucks Americano (but less caffeinated). Last but not least, the service is really perfect. Had the chance to be served by an elderly looking man who was very nice and welcoming. Also answered nicely to orders and questions. A must-try if a rustic Quebec brunch is what you're looking for.

Loved there food, service, staff is amazing they all work like a family. Had amazing experience interacting with staff. I was here on christmas.day for breakfast and dinner???????????????? lots of love from toronto. Mimosas were the best

Went there for brunch. While the brunch menu is rather small, it is quite varied. Plates are quite big and very tasty. You have to taste their bacon if you go there.

Skicy6

Best brunch we’ve had while visiting Quebec City! They offer traditional québécois breakfast which is the tray you see in the picture. It has a variety of offerings such as bacon, sausage, ham, crepe, eggs, beans, fruit, toast and meat pate (not sure what the actual name is). The entire plate was delicious. I particularly loved the bacon, and the crepe with their homemade caramel sauce. Wow it was out of this world! Highly recommend.

Daniel Jang

Best breakfast we have ever had. We ate here two days in a row and everything was delicious - mushroom omlette, caramel crepes, apple french toast and traditional breakfast. Servers were also very friendly. It does get quite busy so suggest coming a little later in the morning (around 11AM) if you don't have a reservation.

Arvin Khalesi

A must if you are in Quebec and you are looking for a place for breakfast/brunch. I only ordered take-out. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Everything was well pack. Everything was so good. All the sweet meal were amazing and the savoury plates too. We ordered: Cassolette du bucheron: It’s a good choice if you want something savoury with bechamel sauce Assiette dla cabane: it’s a huge sugar shack meal Lapin frit et gaufres: it’s a special meal to try. The waffles with blueberries are amazing and you get to taste rabbit meat but it’s a small meal. Pain dores - pommes caramelises: Really sweet but super good.

Friendly efficient staff and a great atmosphere gave us high expectations for the food, and it did not disappoint! The French onion soup had punchy flavors and the bone marrow added to make a rich dish. The pie had very tender meat and the fruit ketchup was a great addition. The bison strip steak was also really good. Nice cocktails and good selection of beer makes this a must visit in Quebec.

Dan Kennedy

Food is really good. Reached the place at around 2:45pm to order the bottomless mimosas, but they advised that they stop serving that around 1:30 or so. So reach early if you want to try that. Food was really good. Crepe was delicious and the staff were really friendly. Loved the concept of the washrooms. Not a big fan of animal fur, so if you are not into that, then please cautious.

Christophe Brouhon

Absolutely loved this Quebecoise restaurant! The food was amazing and coming from NYC the food was actually pretty affordable. We ordered 5 dishes because we were really hungry. Our favorite dish was the french onion soup with bone marrow. The soup was amazing and mixing the bone marrow into the soup made all the better! The decor is so cool too with sleds and snowshoes on the ceiling. I would definitely come back here again!

Tldr: Great breakfast! Spent a little time lining up but it's all worth it. Place is decorated nicely, and for sure it was packed. We were sitting at the back patio and it was nice and cozy. Waiter was great. We ordered one yogurt and one lumberjack breakfast, and oh boi I didn't expect such a big portion. Ham and cheese was hidden under the salad and it was packed!! It was a little bit too much and everything was a little bit too greasy. Tastes awesome though! Yogurt was also very big portion wise. Definitely recommend if you want to skip lunch and go for an all day trip!

French toast was really good! Recommend. They also have free coffee which is a great addition.

This restaurant is an amazing experience, from the food, to the staff, to the atmosphere and bathroom!! We were 4 people and got the Total Buche meal of $55 each. It came with almost everything on the menu but in small quantities.. We were beyond stuffed and full at the ending. I recommend this for anyone visiting QC :) Thank you to the staff as well for being funny? signing and also being very accomodating. We did not want the rabbit, due to having a pet as one and they tried to get us chicken which was nice.

Ate breakfast at La Buche on Christmas Day while visiting Quebec City. I had read many reviews praising this restaurant so I was overjoyed when I managed to book two spots on the 25th. The restaurant did not disappoint! The crepes were thick, the bacon was delicious and the caramel topping was generous. In addition, all servers were dressed for Christmas and a band was present giving a very lively ambience. La Buche is a must for anyone visiting Quebec!

If I could I would rate 0 stars! We went with a baby and OBVIOUSLY we wanted to wait inside since we were -11 outside… the extremely rude host, a young man, with no customer service skills at all, kept asking us to wait outside. We were the only ones told to do so even though there were like 4-5 people also waiting around. When the space started to empty out I politely asked him if I could ask my in-laws (70+ couple) to come in and sit and he replied that only me and the baby…. Even though there was room for us to seat in the waiting area!!! It’s sad a business with great reviews and ratings have to suffer because their team has no customer service skills…but again, it’s the business responsibility to hire the correct people and/or train them…

It's very Frenchy . You will feel those old Quebec vibes. Waiters are very nice and funny . The toilet there is like art object. The food was good for me but not excellent 4 from 5 for the food. But is it is just my taste

5 stars for the food, it was amazing. However, this place loses a star for clearly having an issue with foreigners/tourists. We saw 3 Québécois couples seated before us despite us arriving 10+ minutes before them, and it only stopped when one francophone woman actually called out the host and said we were there first. He then seated us immediately?! Despite me speaking French fluently, he saw our Ontario IDs and I definitely believe this influenced our service. The waitress was great, though. The host however definitely needs to stop giving preferential treatment to Quebec residents - we are all paying customers and your restaurant is located in a very touristy area!

Partner and I visited Quebec for 3 days trip. Had breakfast there on Sunday morning and there was violinist playing music, both indoor and patio. Atmosphere and food were both great so we decided to have dinner there. 5 stars for morning experience, 4 stars for dinner experience....dinner menu probably is authentic canadian/quebec food, which I'm not used to. They were actually yummy but portion was way too big.

Fantastic food! The smoked salmon salad is exquisite, and the onion soup is so flavourful. All their ingredients are local. So, so impressed.

Very interesting interior decor. Especially the bathroom in downstairs. I didn’t post bathroom pictures here. I left imagination to you. The home made smoke salmon was really good. I never thought to combine blueberries and strawberries with smoke salmon. The French onion soup is different arrangement with the soup in Paris. But my friend said she actually likes the French onion soup at La Buche.

Amazing place! Super friendly staff, nice decor. I got the « assiette de la cabane » and it was worth the price. Huge plate with lots of good food.

This place is a fantastic way to taste the rich history of Quebec's logging and maple/sugary past. Come here to eat like the lumberjacks did years ago. Great options for both the sweet and savoury tastes. The French toast was delicious and the bacon was the best I've ever had. Highly recommend eating here.

Nice restaurant for some really good French Canadian fare. We stayed in Quebec for 4 days and came here for breakfast every morning. They also sell maple syrup by the bottle (750ml) and we picked up a few. They have high quality sausages and bacon for their breakfast plates. Their bacon in particular, is thick cut and has a great maple flavour. Their mushroom omelette is smokey and savoury. Excellent choice for any meal of the day. There is often a line outside this place. Make a reservation for faster seating.

What a find this place is! Superb and we are glad we came here as our 2nd spot in the food crawl. My wife saved this place for us because I had shared my craving for pork ribs. We arrived here at around 1pm for lunch however we found out that ribs are only served after 330pm. I was upset but then the waiter suggested that we can shift the reservation to 330pm if we like. Well that’s it, we shifted our reservation and came back at 325pm (too excited to wait) and our new waitress already knew that we came back for ribs. Our ribs arrived and from my first bite, it was a taste of heaven. The meat was so soft that it melted in my mouth and easily slipped off the bone. The sauce was a perfect blend of sweet and spice that made the meal complete. I asked for some hot sauce and they brought a local sauce which went perfectly with the fries. If you are in Quebec city and are craving ribs, La Buche is the place to come to.

The wife and I shared a fried chicken sandwich. While not the most Quebecois choice, we both enjoyed it, and it was large enough to share. The fries are delicious so I imagine the poutine would be amazing. The little starter of pork rinds, beets, and mustard pickles was a nice touch but I am not much for any of these...I did try th em all and they were all good if you enjoy them. They were sold out of my first choice of beer, but the other IPA was good also. And then the Pudding chomeur. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Absolutely delicious, and the ice cream is a must add-on. Cool atmosphere and great service. Recommend!

Ordered the waffle for brunch, 17 dollars comes with 3 pieces of waffle with no other side. Don’t recommend one person solely order this, better share with others to taste other stuff. Really recommend the management to reconsider the food arrangement portion for waffle. No one can finish 3 super sweet waffles with nothing else. Better to couple with fruits/ yogurt and make it only 2 small waffles Location 5 stars, environment 5 stars, food taste 4 stars (can be better)

fred

Very interesting atmosphere and a lot of cool stuff to look at. The waitress was very nice and spoke great English. The waffles were good, but there was way to much chocolate sauce. The bacon they have there is amazing! Very tender, Smokey and a little bit sweet. I would defiantly revisit. Also they have a very cool bathroom!

MIND-BLOWING. Every time I land in Quebec I make a point to stop here for Brunch. The maple syrup is amazing. The meat is just juicy. The presentation is beautiful. The staff is kind snd helpful too. Another Must try places. ❤️????

Hands down one of the best breakfast places I’ve ever eaten at! Loved five ambience! The staff here speak French like in the rest of the city but one can get away with speaking English as they understand. The food is phenomenal, both the portions snd the taste. Everything from French toast, to their grand breakfast and the coffee was just great! They usually have a queue but since they have ample seating space and fast service, the wait time isn’t too long! Would defiantly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to have some yummy snd tummy filling breakfast!!

Fun, quirky decor, good music, cool washroom, great atmosphere and excellent, friendly service by Jonathan…the other servers not quite as welcoming nor professional when it came to placing our orders on the table (pretty much slapped down without a word). Most of the food was a bit disappointing. Like the other reviewer said, the rabbit wings had wayyy too much sauce and the meat was dry and tough. The onion soup and salmon tartare with salad were tasty (fries with the salmon were awful and just not a good fit with the salmon). The tourtiere is worthy as long as you don’t dislike nutmeg (think it was nutmeg).

La Buche was fantastic. Our waiter Jonathan was superb. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary and they brought out sparkling wine as soon as we sat down. We had the grilled cheese and the ribs both were delicious. We then shared the chocolate cake. A fabulous place in Quebec city.

One of the best restaurants I’ve visited in Quebec City. The atmosphere is very festive, food is delicious! Loved their brunch options and bottomless mimosas. The staff is very friendly. The interior is unique. Great location. Highly recommend!

A great place to stop by at Quebec City. The restaurant is super famous for the traditional canadian food. Like a fancy Cabane à Sucre. Services are super quick. Staffs are nice and food is great. A mix of quality and quantity. I definitely recommend this place. I only don't like the reservation process. You have to pay the reservation...

Below average. The Waffles tasted like the batter was made from ground up sugary cereal, and the rest of the dishes were only marginally better. If you're looking for large portion sizes, this is it, but if you want something better than what you can make at home , you'll be disappointed.

Good food, good coffee and unique ambiance. We especially loved the crepes - send back to childhood. Delicious! Though a little bit too sweet to our taste. Super friendly staff. Speedy service. And mostly a line up of clients. They highly recommended to book ahead of time on their website for all meals, including breakfast. They also have a patio.

Excellent food and service. We went here with our two year old, they gave her a sample of maple syrup at the end of the meal and she was delighted. The kid's poutine was also presented well. We had a great time here.

This place is truly fantastic. Some of the best breakfast/brunch food I have ever had. Lunch food is also pretty good. There is also the most unique bathroom I've ever seen here. The French toast is probably the best breakfast item you could order. It was absolutely amazing. The fried rabbit with waffle and blueberries was also very very good. The homemade waffles with Nutella and bananas was unexpectedly brilliant. This is usually a simple and kind of boring dish but something about the waffles made every bite wonderful. And make sure you order the bacon! It is cooked in Maple syrup and is very thick and delicious. I highly recommend ordering this with an egg on the side with any of the breakfast dishes I mentioned for an excellent combo. The pea soup was tasty and very filling. That alone could have filled me up for a meal. The shepherds pie was pretty good. The corn and mashed potatoes were on the bland side which was balanced with the very seasoned meat. The red sauce (maybe cranberry) was also a good mix with the dish. It's definitely recommended to take a bite with each of these in it. Also the breakfast dishes are served with coffee or tea, I would recommend getting the tea. Do not pass this up! We ordered Earl Grey which was supplied by the delightful, local tea shop Camellia Sinensis. Their tea can run up to $1 per bag so it's a pretty good deal. No complaints about the staff, they were all fine. They accept credit cards. There is a parking garage very close by.

We had breakfast here twice, it was THAT good. Quebecois fare, excellently prepared. They make their own cured meats, oh, so delicieux!

Janessa Palmer

Absolutely fantastic place for a casual meal. We had the Salmon and bison. Both perfectly cooked, seasoned and presented! Service was next to none and from the second in the door, to the moment we left - had a smile on our face; while the memory will last a lifetime! ❤️ Thanks everyone! ????????????

Jessica Cyr

An average place. The service was ok but could be better and the food was fine and nothing special.

Karen Haberly

My favorite restaurant from our stay in Quebec city with decor and menu reflecting Quebecois heritage. Rabbit wings were delicious and recommended for anyone with adventurous tastes. Food and beer were reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in the neighborhood.

I think we might have ended up here on an off night. The decor is super fun and reminiscent of a more hip version of a cabane à sucre. When we went in the restaurant smelled very strongly of floor cleaner which gave me a headache towards the end of our meal. The staff were very kind and attentive, but the food was just average. I had the grilled cheese, which wasn't to taste - I ended up eating just the fries and my partner ate the rest of my meal My partner ordered the ribs, which he enjoyed well enough but arrived cold. We finished off with the pouding chômeur, which was fine. I was expecting something a little closer to what we would get at a cabane à sucre. The cocktails were well made - we at least enjoyed those! Overall, everything was fine but we found it overpriced for what we experienced. It was a disappointing meal. That being said, I see many positive reviews so maybe we went on an off night? We won't be back though.

Guess what? Rabbit has wings too (not just buffalo). Service is great and the food is amazing. The rabbit legs are well seasoned and cooked to the perfection. Ordered the deer Tartare. Finely chopped, great presentation, and well balanced seasoning. The appetizer (for free) while waiting is also very interesting. Fried pig skins are commonly found in the south of the states and not an unfamiliar treat in China too.

Food here are delicious and the staffs are friendly too! We had poutine, shepherd's pie and onion soup, kinda salty to us but it was great

SS

Nice eclectic restaurant with local cuisine (Quebec French Canadian). Menu for lunch/supper not particularly large but enough to satisfy most tastes for this type of cooking. Lunch food was very good. However, the brunch selection is amazing and served until 1500 hrs. Had lunch this visit but would order brunch next time. Good beer, drink selection and especially good brunch adult beverages. Nice open windows to street for those lucky enough to get one of those tables. Nice covered patio out back.

I studied this place before coming here - saw great reviews, and right off the bat ordered their chicken waffle. The brunch was unique and delicious. It somehow had some spicy taste to it. The maple/caramel syrup went well with the waffle and chicken, and the chicken was very well cooked and crispy. The blueberries were not sour but sweet! The brunch, however, was pretty heavy, fyi for future visitors. I enjoyed my choice nonetheless! The employees here were friendly and fun!

별한개도 아깝습니다. 가지마세요.. So terrible service I never seen like this. The waitress, who looked like she was in her mid-40s, was very rude. I said can I souce on the side? She said I dont understand. so rude If I server I could 'can You say that again? " And I paid in cash, but it seemed like a woman in her 40s was definitely trying to get a tip. So I asked for change, and when I asked her if she had a plastic bag to pack, she said no. But the men's waitress gave me a plastic bag. It doesn't make sense that there is no plastic bag in the restaurant. I heard it was a famous restaurant in Quebec, so I visited it, but the service is terrible. The crepe with salmon recommended by the lady was also too salty. It was the first day of my trip to Quebec, and I was so offended by the restaurant. Only the male waitress who looks like the boss was kind and generally dissatisfied.
