This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Modern French restaurant.
Good service. Very good food. Nice atmosphere. Duck confit very good. Pricey but worth it.
Every part of our meal was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. They had our favourite Ontario wine on the menu and the cocktails were wonderful. We will certainly be back!
Great food great ambiance. Nestled in a beautiful part of Quebec. Must try the duck confit!
Everything was good. Will come back for more.
This restaurant is in the heart of old Quebec city and serves typical French cuisine. The atmosphere is quite nice and patrons linger over glasses of wine feeling no rush to leave. We enjoyed duck confit and roasted duck for our entrees. Both were very good however the confit came with a salad on the same plate which seemed a bit strange along with not being very flavorful. The wine selection is quite extensive and many wines are available in a half bottles. I tend to prefer to try different food and and drink while on vacation so for me the cocktail list is very short ,although the bar appeared well stocked and they could probably make you anything you'd like. Lastly there are only 2 toilets for the entire restaurant which is not enough and they were not well serviced both having no paper towels at the time were there.
Good food; nice patio , excellent service
The food quality was ok. My wine glass smelled like eggs. They served us a salad and, while eating, a big bug crawled out of the salad! This happens, but the waiter said it was because we were sitting on the terrace! Instead of apologizing and recognizing the mistake, they replaced the food and gave us excuses! I expected more from such a highly rated restaurant.
I had a confit du canard and half-baked chocolate cake for dinner. The confit was well-cooked but I am not a fan of the lentils and baked veggies that came with the duck. They lacked flavor other than salt. For the price I payed, I do expect a more coherent dish. The chocolate cake was great. It is full of texture -- baked outside and gooey inside. It also has the right amount of sweetness. The staff were bilingual and very nice.
Much better food than Le Lapin Saute, but no wait. On a quieter street. Lovely patio with no one tripping over your table.
We had a nice lunch there. Food was good. Will go back.
We came here @8:10pm starving after a 9hr drive from Toronto. We were seated right away. When the server came with water, I asked for the bread. She said she cannot give me the bread until we order. We waited @20mins before she came back. This is after trying to get her attention multiple times. All night she ignored our table and chatted 5-10mins at the other table. We were the only other English speaking table there. She ignored us all night. We practically begged for her attention. I wanted to order dessert but she took so long chatting at the other tables that she couldn't even clear plates from our table! I ended up just paying the bill and did not order dessert. I should not have given a tip. I added a photo of our bread plate and butter that wasn't even cleared from our table. Food was delicious but the service was terrible from the waitress!
Excellent service! The food is outstanding and being located a little further from the really touristy area, eating outside was really pleasant! Will be back!
Great local bistro with efficient service a well put menu and crafted dishes with local ingredients. I had the salmon tartare and it was well balanced with a superbly seasoned salad .
Amazing food! Everything we were served was superb. Best meal we've had in QB and one of the top meals we've had in all of our travels. The service was excellent and menu fairly priced for the quality. English Menu if need. We'll be going back for their lunch before we leave.
they taste good!
Really lovely experience overall. Staff was super friendly and helpful, there was no difference between us as English guests and the French guests. Matthieu was very helpful with menu suggestions and accompanying wine. I had the lobster bouillabaise and my husband had the tartar trio, both excellent suggestions of house specialties. Then we both enjoyed the caribou dish with mushrooms in a black currant sauce and sweet potato puree. The wine suggestion was a demi bottle from France that was like drinking a garden. A wonderful experience. The caribou was cooked beautifully and the mushrooms were so flavourful. We learned that they were sourced locally and that this time of year there is an abundance to sample. It was so nice to taste the individual notes of each type of mushroom. My one difference of opinion is I prefer sweet potatoes in more of a mash with the skins on as well. The puree was delicious but a little too much like baby food for my preference. Then we finished with the dessert tasting for 2. It was splendid. The smell of perfectly ripe strawberries to start with was lovely. We began with the strawberry rhubarb sorbet with an almond crumble. An iced version of strawberry rhubarb pie. There was a slice of sugar pie and a creme brulee. Both were nice and custardy, which is the right way, compared to the more omelety, overcooked versions. And there were chocolate macarons with a really well done ganache in the middle. Oh, and the caramelized bark of sorts that I can't remember what it was called but it was great. Such a lovely meal, well served, well presented, very flavourful and very much enjoyed!
Excellent food, very nice service
French cuisine, and French charm in Old Quebec. We greatly enjoyed all our selections, the savoury combinations, the presentation and the friendliest service. I recommend you finish with the Tonka Bean Crème Brulee. A flavourful first for me. Reservations are a must.
This was the first time that I visited this quaint and beautiful restaurant. The menu is easy to navigate and offers delicious options for everyone. I had a simple soup today and dessert and enjoyed every moment. Service is stellar and I love how they offer Canadian/Ontario wines on their menu. The Baco Noir is amazing!
(for those looking through multiple search-engines, I am copy pasting my reviews) I'm going to start off by saying that I'm never going to find Salmon Tartar as good as theirs ever again (the curry ginger sesame one)... and l'm a little sad about that. Now for my review. I can only say it was a pleasant experience from the moment I stepped in until the moment I was saying my goodbyes. Every staff we dealt with were super pleasant and most importantly were not annoying. It was a perfect balance of meeting our needs without them being in our faces. The fact that it wasn't a big and rowdy resto, was even better. I didn't need to fight for attention nor did I need to feel like I should pop two pills and put in ear plugs.. I know i'm exaggerating, but, when it gets loud and rowdy, it can be very unpleasant. As for food/drinks, 1) Entrée: Goat cheese with dried tomatoes. Yum. I have to say it was really good, and they gave a generous size on a plate. I may not order it again only because I am curious about other foods. This may sound a little crazy because I am not sure how exactly to word it but.. Thankfully they put a small salad on the side of the cheese. The tomato and cheese was very "warm" and I needed something fresh like a salad to cool the mouth. 2) Salmon Tartar: omgiwanttodrive3hourstohavesomemoretartar. Like I mentioned it was the sesame/ginger tartar. It was really really really good. The only down side.. I wish there were a bit more of it. And by a bit, I mean a lot more of it. 3) flank steak/Bavette: PRO: ohh my my my. When I told them I wanted it Medium, with no blood on my plate... they really made sure to cook it that way. Not every day you can find places that know how to properly cook steak. The portion size was perfect CON: I wish I had known that they put lots of caramelized onions on top of the steak. I removed them and my boyfriend happily ate them... but that was my only itty bitty comment I had about that. 4) Veal with lard and a melting a piece of brie (not on menu.. special of the night or something). was AMAZING. everything about it was great and you get a good size portion of meat. 5) I've been craving a good crème brulee because I have given up on ordering it out.. Echaudé did not fail me. Every bite was like tasting a little piece of heaven in my mouth.. I don't want to talk it up or get peoples hopes up. But I truly enjoy good quality food and this truly hit the spot. 6) Lastly, the variety of wine is incredible. There is something for everyone in there. no joke.. I feel like I've walked in a fancy looking SAQ. In conclusion, I must go back.
Best dining experience in Quebec thanks to a wonderful server! He was accommodating, professional and knowledgeable. Very easy to talk to and had a great sense of timing to approach the table. Would go back for the service but the food and aperatif’s were superb!
A wonderful restaurant, the food and service are excellent. Highly recommended.
Very nice local French cuisine with excellent choices of wine and beer. The staff were fantastic and the food is excellent.
Exceptional dinner with delicious food, excellent service and good wine. Did the 3 appetizers, dessert and a bottle of wine and each was superb. Very impressed by the food! Plated well and each dish was delightful. I've never had lamb so perfectly done.
Pleasant courtyard seating in lowertown. Delicious caprese salad and vegetarian pizza. Pleasant, cheerful servers.
Horrible customer service. We stood waiting to be served for 10 minutes, with staff walking back and forth, before we were even acknowledged. When we were, we were told there would be a wait. Why not at least greet us first? Tell us there is a wait before making us wait?!
This restaurant is located on a quiet little street, but still close to the tourist attractions. The place is nice and cozy, it was packed when we arrived but we were lucky to get a seat for 2. The staffs were really friendly and helpful. The duck confit is absolutely fantastic. It is probably the best duck confit I have ever eaten. I've been to a few well rated French restaurant with my wife in Paris and this duck confit definitely are better than the ones in Paris. The duck is tender and juicy all around and it is also not too salty. We are even thinking of coming here again the next day before we leave!!
Omg it was our first meal in Quebec and by far the best in all the days we were there. They have this super nice lunch special. Absolutely worth it and we still talking about this place and planning to go back to Quebec and hit this place again. Quality food, good wines and prices. Super small but absolutely cute.
Stopped in for a late lunch on a cold October day. Had some good oysters and very tasty soup of the day. Good fish tartare, we didn't like the beef as much. Small beer list, okay selection of whiskeys. Service was very friendly and accommodating to us sticking around to finish up after the end of lunch service.
After hearing only good reviews we decided to give it a go. The service was quite slow and our meals were nothing fancy. Wouldn't go out of my way to go here again.
Despite initial reservation issues, great restaurant and service, worth it!
Was told 20 minute wait for a table but it was actually about an hour. Was told that if our name is called, and we don't respond immediately, then we would lose our table. This means that we couldn't go to a nearby bench to sit after a long day of travelling. Once seated, We asked for English menus but the server forgot about it and didn't come to see us for about 15-20 mins after the initial contact. Found a English menu online so we managed to put together our order. Appetizers usually are brought out relatively fast but not at this restaurant. Everything besides the drinks takes a rediculous amount of time. We tried to order dessert before we finished the main to account for how slow the restaurant was but didn't see the server until we were long finished our entre. Server didn'tt clear the table for a while between courses and generally don't wipe the table either. Once we finally ordered dessert we waited about 20 mins before I became annoyed and asked them to cancel it and bring the bill. I guess that was enough motivation for them to bring it out in 5 minutes. Overall, we got to the restaurant at about 715, we were seated at 815, we left around 1030. Food was good but definitely not worth the wait.
This place is something many restaurants dream of achieving and for the very fair prices they charge this is nothing short of spectacular!! I would honestly rank this restaurant in the top places I have ever eaten at around the world! The quality of ingredients, spectacular taste of the food, fantastic wait staff and the beautiful location all bundle together to show that they know exactly what they are doing!
Excellent restaurant. Food is very good. Service is quick and professional. Price is good too Only good things, and well located
Add a dessert and coffee to meal for only $7.
My wife and I had a “scaldingly” wonderful meal at the bar (sorry for the bad pun), with the dishes and the conversation flowing freely and deliciously. If you are visiting Vieux Quebec City, I would highly recommend this restaurant. We had the Tartar Trio, which was fun. The oysters were fresh and delish (amusing side note—I apparently need to practice enunciating “douze”). My wife had the duck confit, which was well cooked and truly filling as duck should be. But the surprise was the scallops, which I ordered on recommendation. It was perfectly cooked, and the flavors and the ingredients perfectly brought out the natural sweetness of the meat. Finally, we chose the Assiette gourmande for dessert, and that was a fun riot of flavors. Nota bene, make a reservation. With wine, drinks and tip, our bill came to 217 CAD—well worth it. Casual dressing is fine.
By far, the best dining experience in Quebec that you will ever find. The service was top notch...André (and his colleagues) was not only an amazing waiter but suggested a jazz bar for us to visit afterwards that completed what was a perfect evening. We all enjoyed our meals so much that we are still talking about it. Can't wait to go back. If you visit Vieux Québec, do yourself a favour and make reservations at L'Échaude!
Delicious food, friendly service, perfect low key atmosphere.
Great Service; Judicious Wine Suggestion; Excellent Quality Food.
We had a lovely lunch when we first arrived at our hotel. It had been recommended by the concierge. The place was busy on a Friday but the service was superb. Highly recommended.
Remarkable service. Excellent wine list and good food.
Wonderful experience. Great food and service
Fabulous food (including the few vegetarian options) and great service.
Uber friendly staff, great recos, superb menu. A true delight. The Tuna Special was excellent.
Great food, waiters are kind and helpful. We had a good time. Wine is a bit overpriced.
My wife and I went to L'Echaude on the last evening of our honeymoon in Quebec City. The staff was wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is also on a quieter side street that is less busy/tourist filled. Would definitely recommend a dinner here.
Good food, nice ambiance, great service with a smile!
Louder than expected. Classic bistro cuisine, probably better for lunch rather than dinner. I think the bathrooms are shared with their neighboring pub so frequently had people running through.
The duck breast was really tough but the rest of the food was alright
I went here yesterday for a group lunch and it was great! The service was very good and the food was perfect for a lunch time meal. The portions weren't huge so if you're looking for a large, heavy lunch this may not be the place for you. However, I don't want to leave you with the impression I left hungry, I was totally satisfied without feeling stuffed. I had ordered the beef tartar but they accidentally brought me the salmon, I didn't love it as much as I love beef tartar but it was very fresh and the fries were delicious! I liked that they offered a lunch special on both a red and white bottle of wine, great to split with the table so everyone can have a glass for a really reasonable price. Would visit again for sure!
Great ambiance, very good food! Went at lunch time, service was very professional, choice of wine by the glass somewhat limited. Thanks!
What a wonderful restaurant. Impeccable service with knowledgeable staff. Food was delicious and priced right. The mix of flavours were very well balanced, and portions are as expected from a French restaurant. The courses were also properly timed, so you’re not waiting too long between courses, nor does it come too fast. They will also we able to suggest wine pairings for your meal. Another thought is that if you are fed up of seeing and hearing tourists that are sometimes too loud/rude/obnoxious, this restaurant seems to attract very nice and civilized clients, so you could relax and have a nice long dinner date. A big factor at first was also the dress code. Since I was not on business, I didn’t think of bringing proper shoes and jacket for some of the restaurants we discovered. This restaurant has a much more casual approach, so it was nice to enjoy gastronomy in relative comfort of my casual attire. I would come back again without a doubt if I visited Quebec often enough. Note that this place does get quite busy, so either reserve in advance or try to come earlier. We came at opening and were seated right away. To the staff, I thank you all for a wonderful experience. Till next time.
Different menu. Loved the cheese pastry appetizer and highly recommend the tasting dessert for two!
We went to L'Echaude for our last dinner of our trip. I couldn't dream up a more perfect place!! The service was fantastic, our entire party thought the food was delicious.
We had breakfast at Echaude on our last night. We loved their outdoor seating. It is a very nice cozy little french spot. They offer very unique dishes with a twist such as their naan bread with smoked salmon and eggs. Overall we enjoyed our breakfast, both the savory and sweet dishes. I'd definitely recommend them and would pay them a visit the next time I'm in town.
I loved the tempura tuna appetizer! Never had anything like that before
Lovely bistro in the authentic French style. Attentive service and great wine list.
my favorite was this desert. yummmmmmm
had an amazing dinner here in October, great wine selection, excellent menu, and professional service.
10/10
Fantastic food!!
Somehow I happened on this place and made reservations prior to our arrival. We had dinner here our first night in Quebec City and it was fabulous! Wine, food, dessert, service...all impeccable! I would highly recommend this spot for lunch or dinner.
One of the most amazing places in the Old City. Waitress was the best in the time we shared here. A really really good experience. Food was very well prepared, perfect taste. Daniel is the best!!
Unfortunately I just had a horrible experience at this restaurant. The wait for our entree was what seemed like an eternity. When we mentioned it we were dismissed with the comment. "No, this is the way it is in this city." Simply not true. What a let down. There are numerous other choices in this city. Don't make the mistake we did. Choose someplace else.
What a beautiful fine dining experience during our honeymoon in Quebec. Waitstaff was very helpful and polite even though we don't speak French. The courses were well timed considering it was a busy Friday night. Food was well prepared and paired with its accompaniments. Cozy atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner.
Lauren and I had a wonderful dinner. No wonder this restaurant has been open since 1984. Great area of Quebec City.
Superb meal and service
So rude and unkind. I don't know why the waitress was so angry, but all I got from her was just water. She didn't explain us the menu, she didn't notify me the order-closing time. She just didn't care us at all. What made me frustrated most was the attitude she asked me the tip. I couldn't understand why she asked me so arrogantly. What on earth service did she give me for the tip??? It was the most terrible experience in Quebec. Definitely the restaurant needs urgent measure. (I ate lunch in 30 Sep 2017)
Great location, great staff amazing food. The ambiance is lovely and clean. A perfect spot to have a lunch in the old Québec city! Great cuisine meets the sympathy and courtesy of a great staff team. If you love tartares, this is the best choice in Québec city. If you don't, no reason to worry, they got a menu full of delicious options for you. It can look pricey at first, but once you taste it you will realize it's a fair price. Great wine selection. Beer selection is not so broad, but they got a good one from the main styles. I had a great time there with my family!
Absolutely amazing food specifically the duck and tartare. The dessert menu was vast and delicious.
Great food. Friendly staff. An interesting menu with options to eat only entrées if you wish. Lovely terrasse and ambiance.
Very good place! The restaurants are created to provide people the good food and joy and this one is the right place to find both. Had on of the best interpretation of Surf’n’Turf in years! Well done, chief!
Saturday brunch was a wonderful treat. Exquisite food and awesome staff. A true haven away from tourist traps.
AMAZING FOOD. We stopped in here while visiting Old Quebec and were not disappointed. The charm of the restaurant was outdone by its delicious culinary delights. We were not disappointed in the least. You have to take the time to eat here when you are in the area.
This is a truly phenomenal restaurant with amazing staff, as well as food. The wine list is great, as well as the options. The presentation for my dish, the seafood special ( a ceviche) was great. Layers pop out and make the food even more appetizing just to look at. My waiter Vincent was great, polite, and helped to cover a small charge upon mistake. Overall, a fantastic experience, and in my opinion a must do in Quebec city.
Very good local food at reasonable prices, despite the little friendly owner
If you want something interesting instead of boring burgers, try this place! Salmon carpaccio is delicious
We were very disappointed to see a plate sharing charge on their menu. When we travel, we always order multiple courses and share everything. We’ve even done this at Michelin starred restaurants in Europe. Limiting yourself to one plate at an establishment such as this is a shame. This seems like an old outdated fee in this modern age of eating out.
Very good restaurant; located in a nice area, great service, delicious food, knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices. Definitely a place to check out in Old Quebec.
Great lunch experience
Great restaurant with an excellent atmosphere. They are also mindful of food intolerances which was nice. Very knowledgeable on their wine list and our food was delicious. Highly recommend the steak tartare and the foie gras. Everyone should visit, but make a reservation for dinner!
One of the best dining experiences in recent memory. Wonderful service and food.
Wow! Took advantage of Québec Exquis! foodie festival to eat here today. 3-course luncheon menu for $20.! Impeccable service and exceptional meal. If you are in Québec City check out one of the 25 participating restaurants paired with local producers foe real values. (Québec Exquis! on until April 29 this year
Atmosphere - classic and formal Food - delicious Price - fair Service - excellent
Everything was delicious, but the creme brûlée was out of this world! Definitely recommend.
The food was lovely, the decor perfect and the service was impeccable.
Very pretty dishes for sure! But not to my liking... If you are not into raw meat cuisine, don't go there. Spent 280$ for 4 people and still came out really hungry ????
Such a lovely place. We didn’t have reservations so we sat at the bar. We had a great time with Alex the bartender. Everyone there was so nice and friendly. They recommended their speciality and famous dishes, like their goat cheese dish.. so yummy! Everything was delicious! Thank you for a memorable evening!
Amazing little French restaurant. The food, service and atmosphere was perfect. Thank you for a fabulous final meal in Quebec City.
Good service. Excellent food Reasonable price
We sat at the bar and Anne took care of us. She is amazing, the food was delicious, and we had such a nice time. Would come back here.
Cosy French restaurant located in Old Quebec. Service was friendly (though a bit slow). Food was delicious and prices were decent (8-18$ for appetizers, 23-36$ for mains). What I ordered: Court-bouillon de homard et safran, poissons et mollusques, croûton et rouille Suprêmes de caille, gnocchis, croquettes à la courge, poires, olives Assiette gourmande (dessert) I would highly recommend any of these! Their menu is creative and seasonal. The dessert sharing plate for two is especially good: you have many cheeses, crème brûlée, sherbet, sugar pie, dark chocolate mousse, meringue, etc... So decadent!
My husband and I went to this restaurant and encountered a server that struggled with English, or seemed to. What we found was that we were ignored and treated quite curtly in comparison to our French speaking patron neighbors. The braised beef was good, but it wasn't clear on the menu to order a vegetable separately. It claimed to have one in the descriptions, however the vegetable that they served with it was really more of a garnish, rather than a part of the meal. Overall, our experience in Quebec was amazing. This was a lower point, especially for the price. We sort off felt like we were transported back to Paris...
Hard to go wrong with this restaurant. Nothing spectacular, just traditional French cuisine done well with an authentic atmosphere.
Amazing service. Comfortable atmosphere. Food was exceptional.
Would absolutely go back whenever I get the chance! Staff were very friendly, and accommodated to language barriers. The food was excellent and came in a timely manner. Great for tourists who want to have a great French restaurant experience. Would highly recommend on your bucket list if you're in the area.
Very tasty and excellent dishes. Presentation, taste and satisfying with great service
Since I am a vegetarian they made a special meal for me...kudos to the chef...and it was truly delicious. Great wine selection as well! Overall a place to try for sure!
An excellent restaurant with amazing service. An extensive wine list will entice anyone. Excellent Tartar..
We had a lovely dinner last night. The warm goat cheese appetizer started the evening right. The chicken with fois gras and duck confit delicious. The pear dessert was divine. The staff was attentive and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend.
Lovely restaurant, very busy. Recomend reservations.
Excellent ambiance and service. One of our dishes was unable to be completed due to lack of ingredients (sweet meats) and nothing was offered as a substitute or discounted, which was a bit strange. Other than that, a very enjoyable evening.
Another great restaurant in Old Quebec City. It's hard to find a bad meal here, anywhere in Quebec City but this is one of the best
Our last night in Quebec. Concierge recommended L’Echaude. We asked for a country French. It was just what we wanted. Appetizers and main courses were delicious. Service was great. Good wine selection. We liked it so much we went back for lunch the next day.
Servers are very friendly, food are delicious and reasonable price.
This was absolutely the best food I've ever had. If you eat here order the Quail breast with gnocchi - it was simply delicious. The atmosphere was sophisticated and the waiters were very experienced. If you stay in Quebec City it's a must.
Very good food and service. I recommand it to everybody!
Just a lovely evening. Fantastic service and excellent dinners. We both had the flank steak two great desserts you must share.
Amazing! What a great culinary experience. The food and service were great, a real French bistro. Between us, we had the fois gras, veal and salmon tartare, along with the gourmand dessert. Everything tasted like perfection. Would highly recommend a visit here.
Service and Food was good but could find better in the same price range in quebec...
Very nice decor, bistro style menu with some twists the service was ok and somewhat dry hence the 4 stars if not it would have been 5 stars.
Really delicious food and very well priced considering the quality!!
Wonderful meal in a gorgeous atmosphere! Below is a photo of dessert!
We were there for lunch. Food wasn't warm and not very good either. The service forgot our drink and when we had to pay, they even asked for more tip after this.
Omg dinner was amazing. Great service spectacular. I wish we found them sooner. Next visit to Quebec City we are definitely going to go back.
Excellent food, excellent service - beautiful ambience, and the location is perfect. Simply wonderful.
Food wasnot bad but service was sadly horrible. A guy who was supposed be in charge of our table wasnot helpful at all. He made mistakes for 2 main dishes but he didn't even say sorry to us, furthermore, he acted like he didn't care and tried to make nothing happened. I've never experienced such a bad service like that before at a fancy restaurant. That was absolutely disappointing. Some of dishes are very ordinary and overpriced also service is quite slow. Never recommend anyone.
The food was delicious, but our table seemed like it was too crowded to fit into.
Food was great! One of the best onion soup in the city!
Service was 100% and the food was really good and well presented.
Excellent service! Top shelf appetizers and entrees. Desserts heavenly. Alex the bartender is a Craftsman! Spent a week in the city. Went there three times.
Absolutely love this restaurant! Amazing food and service!
Delicious meal, great atmosphere... amazing dessert
Terrific meal, Reasonably priced given the quality. Not pretentious.
Food was terrible, and service was the worst! The waiter was making inappropriate jokes and stopped only after I complained to the manager. Terrible dinner!
we had a great time with live music and decent, though not excellent, food. the interior of the restaurant is very lovely and airy, which might be nice during these times.
Had a wonderful meal. Ambience was great and good service, however. When the bill came my wife noticed we were charged for 8 drinks, not four. When we brought this to the servers attention, printed out the bill and told us he'd come back. After 10 minutes or so, our original server asked us to come to the bar where he was on the phone and would straighten it out. After a few more minutes and various signings debits, credits, refunds and correction. He said he got it right. I'm disappointed that a very well reccomended restaurant like this wouldn't do more after their mess up. Maybe comp a few glasses of wine. It really shows a lot that after all that and still a 20% tip an apology and a hand shake was it. Maybe I'm being too fussy, but I expected a little more after all this inconvenience
Great restaurant. Nice atmosphere and wonderful food.
You wouldn't think of this place as a nice pub in the heart of Old Quebec. Turned out to be a great stop for my friends for a nice beer and food. Mushroom soup was fantastic. Board games available which shortens waiting time while you have fun.
Service is friendly, the place is neat (thought tables are cramped), and the lunch sets are economical. However, the food lacks the flavor it should have. The soup was watery. The fish was bland. The steak doesn’t have the right cut. There are nicer food in the city.
Great service and the food is superb. We arrived late and we received and excellent service. It is a must in Quebec city.
I was not impressed. For this prices you can find better options. Food is precooked which is for real french restaurant is almost capital offence.
Excellent service and very good food! Great place for a family dinner. Avoid the ribs though.
We were staying at the Hotel Port-Royal. Echaude is just a few steps away from there. When we asked to make a reservation for the bar, they were very accommodating. Not many restaurants will do that. Andre was our bartender/server. He was so engaging which enhanced our evening. We ordered the trilogy of tartare, oysters, and shared the saddle of rabbit. So French/Quebec. Couldn't have asked for a more delightful experience!
Very nice place. Pretty good wine selection. Charming atmosphere. Good food.
Excellent food, all courses that we had were delicious. Must have to try is a local berries dessert.
All the food was wonderful and the service was excellent. The back dining room was beautiful and a perfect place to enjoy a great meal and great company.
Very good place and pretty service.Try the foie gras!
The salmon tartare was very good and the conchiglioni was excellent, the flank steak was ok, extremely small portion and not very flavourful. Our server was unfriendly and borderline ignored us the entire meal. Waters were filled around us but not ours and people were asked how their meals were but we weren’t. Unsure if it was because we spoke English or because of homophobia but I definitely expected more from such a highly rated restaurant.
Restaurant is ok. Hostess he was really nice to us. Food it’s so so maybe I am not French restaurant critic but their French soup was really a water with onion. No bred no cheese and a lot of salt. Waiters not so friendly but they were very busy so that might make sense. Overall it’s good nobody was sick so food was good but not something I would look forward to go back to.
My last 2 reviews were 5 stars at different restaurants in Quebec City. I am not writing this to negatively impact this business but just an honest review. We ordered the 3 appies for $45. Not a bad deal considering we had the seared bluefin tuna, the quail and the lamb. Overall presented well, good taste(especially the mushroom sauce with the quail was packed with flavour). We ordered a bottle of wine and their list ranges from moderately pricey to very pricey and overall good value. The major disappointment was the main. The blood pudding was ok at best. Not sure why the cabbage was undercooked with this mash of blood pudding that came spewing out when you try to cut it. The rib of the cabbage was tough to chew. Underseasoned but nicely presented. I liked the grilled squash. The worst one was the guinea fowl. The first dish was overcooked, like rubber and overly salted ( was it the brine?). We sent it back, 2nd one same thing. It was certainly the meat as everything else was not overly salty. 2nd dish they cooked the fowl better but i couldn’t finish it was it was too salty. Lastly the service was moderate at best. I’ve had better in QC and I don’t want to say more but this wasn’t the service that we expected based on the reviews. We could tell that there was way more energy put at other tables. Not sure what the problem was but disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend personally, as there are better imo.
Fantastic place for breakfast service was wonderful, food was amazing, and price was very reasonable
Bright, lively atmosphere. Lovely outdoor seating by the cobblestone walking street. The service was fast and friendly, spoke english and had an english menu available. I had the duck confit, which was beautifully plated and came with fries and a litely dressed green salad. The duck was every bit as tender as could be hoped and quite flavorful. My meal was served very quickly after ordering. Would return anytime!
Delicious gnocchi - the sauce and pasta was perfect. They were out of crab, but the substituted lobster was amazing. Thoroughly enjoyable and might make the 13 hour trip just to go eat this dish again. Thank you, chef!
Book early especially on the weekend as this popular restaurant is well worth it. Brilliant modern French food and a good wine and beer list. Friendly service even for an aussie English only speaker. It's in a quiet corner of the lower old city. We had the lobster bisque salmon tartare and the duck between us with sorbet to finish. Loved every mouthful
Great food & service. Wine selection excellent.
Unfortunately, we were left disappointed with our overall experience at L'Échaudé. They don't seem to take Covid restrictions seriously. Many of the wait staff were only wearing a face visor, without a mask. Considering they are standing above their patrons who are sitting at their table, this makes the visor useless in protecting us. We saw them allow clients to enter the restaurant without masks on, only telling them to pull their jackets in front of their mouths. We also saw a man head to the washroom with no mask on; on his way, he passed two staff members and no one addresses the issue with him. Tables were definitely not a full 2m apart. We were not the only patrons to notice this problematic lack of respect for safety protocols. They seemed to be either very busy or understaffed. Plates were slow to arrive, and when they did, there was a general lack of seasoning. A few flakes of finishing salt would have helped every single dish. I think the staff tries their best, but without efficient management and CLEAR and UNEQUIVOCAL adhesion to Covid safety regulations, it all ends up feeling mediocre.
Superb soup and steak tartar. Flank stake 100% right. Slow getting the food, but it was very relaxing and the food was worth every minute anx dollar. Very good service
The food was delicious, the wine list is extensive, and the service was professional if a bit arrogant. Not the best salmon tartare I've had in Quebec City, but I think my partner ordered the veal and that was much better. Pretty good! May recommend.
Excellent service and just the right amount of delicious food.
