There's a first time for every dish, and this was my first rabbit pot pie: delicious! As was my wife's grilled cheese. And the cheese appetizer... The host and waitress made our visit exceptional, and even accommodated our small dog on the outside patio area. Prices are moderate and match the quality of the food and service. Great place to spend an hour in the alleys of old Quebec City.

Andrew Gburek

In addition to the friendly and accommodating staff, this place served up the best meal I've had in a week that included Montreal, Ottawa and Mont Tremblanc. Try the cassoulet. Definitely try the rabbit. It's hard to avoid on this menu. ????

Amazing food for very fair prices. Cozy, well decorated restaurant and a casual classy dining experience. Great place for a date imo. We had the $69 to share platter. Everything on it was extremely solid. Highlights were french onion soup, rabbit and duck legs and foie gras. The sauces for rabbit were standout. The squash puree for duck leg was out of this world. The two waitresses were superb as well.

BEST RABBIT IN TOWN. Ooof, going to Quebec? Must try! The ambiance and in the heart of Quebec it makes it perfect and amazing. The maple syrup is one of a kind. The meat was melting in my mouth. I loved it.

Cathy Bogaart

Cozy ambiance and tasty vegetarian options. Excellent choice for Christmas Day.

Cozy little restaurant in the quartier petit champlain that will warm your soul on a cold winter day with its intricate decorations, homey atmosphere, hearty fireplace, creative cuisine and friendly staff and owner. The crème brûlée is a must try for a touch of sweetness on your journey.

In the mad rush for Sunday brunch we got lucky and were able to grab a table at Le Lapin Sauté. I don’t know why but I initially didn’t have high expectations being as it’s in the middle of one of the most touristy streets of Old Québec. I turned out to be wrong as brunch was delicious and the service was very friendly.

Jing Lu

Had the platter for two. One of the meals I ever had. Well recommended.

Old Quebec is one of the most charming places I've ever been, and Le Lapin Saute absolutely fits in with the locale. It's a small restaurant (especially with the patio closed), but we had reservations and our vaccine passports so we got a little table all to ourselves. I have Celiac Disease, and they have a separate gluten free menu with many delicious choices. I went with the Cassoulet and had some gluten free bread on the side. My husband had the French Onion Soup and the Rabbit Pot Pie which he said were amazing. An intimate, romantic, European-style restaurant that we will definitely be visiting again!

We went to the restaurant randomly walking in Vieux Quebec. We had no other expectation than eating, we were starving. What an amazing surprise. It was lovely, perfect. We started with a cocktail, so good that we wanted to order the liquor at the first Saq we found (Vino Shaman). We enjoyed it a piece of foie gras, lovely prepared on a "planche". We shared a board of mixed meat, duck, lapin, magret, salmon ... it was delicious and surprisingly matching the cocktail. We finished with a sweet potatoe tatin. It was delicious. We also were very surprise by the price. It was very affordable. 100% worth it. I do recommend and I will come back.

July 2021 4.5★ a nice restaurant situated in the "rue du petit Champlain" corridor. This small pedestrian only street is filled with stores and restaurants. A nice walk really and while it's probably a tourist trap, the prices aren't far out compared to some others in the area or even outside of the area. The kids menu is decently priced, has a bunch of choices and nice to have for kids. The cod for the kids was outstanding. Flaky and tender. The adult menu has a decent number of choices. For 2, the Tout Lapin Canard is a decent meal/sampler that allows you to try the duck, rabbit and some typical French delicacies. Rabbit i believe was sous vided and paired with some dipping sauces. The duck roasted and tender. Not a bad place to try some rabbit.

Cozy little place with delicious breakfast options featuring rabbit meat. I recommend two eggs Benedict with rabbit confit, it is worth every cent. Staff is friendly and decor is super nice. It gets very very busy so call in advance and make a reservation for breakfast. Another must stop in Quebec City.

Beatriz Garrido

Friendly service, delicious food and a cosy atmosphere. Our first time trying rabbit, and it was very good. Don't worry, there are non-rabbit dishes on the menu in case someone in your group is averse to lapin ????

We had lunch here yesterday. We had the Tout Lapin Tout Canard platter for lunch, starting with Quebec Cheeses Fondue. Reserve a table before going. We walked by and went to reserve a table. An hour later, we came back and were seated. The quaint ambience made our lunch enjoyable. Service was good, and the food.... Yum!!!

We truly enjoyed Le Lapin Sauté. We were Sitting outside, which made the experience extra special. We tried the rabbit poutine, cheese fondue and rabbit pate. The service was attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend.

This was the best meat pie I have ever had, we had a great experience, the servers were nice and they helped us get a seat outside because we had two dogs with us. They have a good wine Selection and I will definitely go back for the pie, it was perfectly made. The owner came out with bowls of water for the dogs, and they all came out to say hi.

Elaine Lewis

The food and service was amazing. The cocktails were also so creative. The lady who greeted us however was a bit rude. Nevertheless the food and drinks and our server deserve a 5/5. We had the Share feast and the fondue and some other dishes all of which were outstanding. Definitely recommend this.

Maria Westerkamp

The best fondue I have ever had, along with amazing cocktails. I will definitely revisit soon. French onion soup was delicious and with fresh bread, (they give you more if you run out) definitely worth visiting this gem!

Mel W

Great ambience and great service! We had the platter for 2. I really enjoyed the foie gras pate, duck leg. it was my first time tasting rabbit and dare say it would be my last time trying it as it tastes like chicken but a little tougher. French onion soup tasted abit bland.

This place was the best option ever to have a x-mas souper. Delphine and Feliz made our experience the best ever. The food was excellent too. It’s a must.

katherine li

An ok breakfast spot with their famous rabbit meat, but I found rabbit is too cute to eat so i took a classic breakfast - eggs benedict

S Balisong

Very quaint and Great atmosphere! The food is delicious, affordable and you pay for the quality. Also, great customer service!

This was our favorite restaurant in Quebec City. It was a very cozy and comfortable place for lunch with a hot fire in the fireplace on a very cold day. The French Onion Soup was the best we had in Quebec. Our entrees were excellent, too. The server was friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend Le Lapin Sauté!

Anand Ramaswamy

Friendly helpful service. Cozy little place with atmosphere. Not a big menu but what we had was excellent. Our server recommended a very good wine to go with our food

David Carignan

Really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The food was good, bit not amazing. I did enjoy my meal of fried crumbed cod with roasted veggies, but others found their grilled cheese just ok. It was nice to have live music playing in the street .

You absolutely MUST eat here! It's on a cute little street and the decor is really lovely. The staff was welcoming , so warm and friendly! The food was incredible! Highly recommend.

Came in on Sunday, but unfortunately only breakfast and lunch were available (they close at 2pm on Sunday). Still we had a great meal, loved smoked duck breast appetizer the most! Chocolate mousse dessert was yummy as well, not too sweet with lots of flavour. Will be back for dinner menu.

One of my wife and I farourite restaurant in old Québec city. We always order the "Tout lapin tout canard" and it's fantastic! Only challenge is to get a table... If it's only the two of you, you should be fine. I'd probably make a reservation next time we come here.

Excellent service!!! I tried the rabbit poutine which I liked (not something I would normally eat but would recommend.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal here! I had rabbit rillettes appetizer and beef & vegetable entree. Friends ordered Mushroom Ortegga with Duck and they loved it as well.

Oh my god. What the heck?!?! So good. Everything at this restaurant was perfect. Quebecoise cuisine with local duck and rabbit? I'm in. Rabbit poutine? I'm in.

Michael Gunter

Perfect taste of rabbit meat:) not as dry as other reviews have described. Very different from the rabbit meat cooked in my hometown. The sharable meal is highly suggested as well as the pie (or soup?) dessert is worth trying too. The price is expensive...the dishes shown in the pictures were basically all we eat, over $100 for three.

Marzena K

Great food. Not many restaurants are serving rabbit meals which are very delicious. The only issue, if you are at the terrace it might be quite cold and dark since there is no lights or heating.

Luis Cano

My my my..what a lovely quaint Bistro in the lower city... Outstanding...known for the rabbit fare, but all menu items were stellar. The beef tartar and fois gras, perfect. The Chai Cod..superb, duck confit...magnificent. All good here in the QC.

Indre Ra

Lovely place. Great menu options, portions aren’t too big, but fairly priced that way you can order a few different dishes and explore the menu. Every dish we order was great. Atmosphere was cozy but the best of all was our server taking great care of our dietary restrictions and making sure we are satisfied.

Lyndsay Stuart

Friendly environment, exquisite food, great service!

Andrea Waldie

Romantic place, very pleasant, excellent service, delicious food. It was a cool night and onion soup was warming and the fondue was delicious too.

Judy Tran

Charming place. Top notch staff. Food was fantastic. Even the children had a great time, kids menu was well done both the food and the paper booklet which had colouring and games was better than average. Daughter loves rabbits and chose the restaurant, no we didn't tell her why it's decorated with rabbits. Loved that the menu had a local cider, spoiler: it was good. Tried the grilled cheese and loved it. DH tried the rabbit poutine and, no surprise, it was perfect. Staff all spoke beautiful French and English but be a champ & brush up on at least a bit of French to fully enjoy all this wonderful place has to offer.

This is a fantastic restaurant, very stylish and festive. I went there every time when I visited Old Quebec. The waitresses were friendly and professional, we barely waited for a table even the restaurant was busy. Food came fast and it was absolutely stunning. The food looked delicious tasted amazing, and it was just enough for me. The price was decent, i t was about $30 per person. In conclusion, Le Lapin Sauté is an amazing restaurant, it is one of the best restaurants I have been to, definitely should give it a try when you visit Old Quebec.

Daniela R. (Rika88)

Delicious brunch, beautiful location. The French cuisine felt very authentic as well as the outside dining location being convinient and pretty. Service was quick and servers were considerate (spoke both English and French). Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Lillian Lum

This small but cozy restaurant is everything I'd wanted in Quebec City. Friendly service, delicious offerings from apps to entrees and desserts and drinks in the cutest of little towns. Speaking with table neighbors from the US, they had said it was a repeat visit for them as it's one of the best restaurants in town. I can see why. Definitely recommend this place - you may need to make reservations as several people were turned away while we were dining.

We’ve got the best time here, light lunch perfect for a hot day. Our waitress was friendly and smiley and gave us some suggestions which were absolutely perfect. The Rabbit poutine was super tasty. And don’t miss those truffles. The restaurant is located in a super touristic busy street but we didn’t have to wait to be seated in the patio. We got fresh air, sun and refreshing drinks. Very good indeed

French Onion soup was extra cheesy. 9:1 cheese to soup ratio. Ordered the "le cantonnier" option which is supposed to be a "stronger" tasting cheese. Was not that strong and didn't overpower the onion. Nicely balanced if you like cheese. The Rabbit Rillette was unique. The bacon/onion compote nicely complemented it, served on bread. We ordered the rabbit pot pie as a main. Pastry was flaky. Filling was made up of potato and some Rabbit meat. Service a bit slow as there was only 1 waitress serving 7 tables. But she was friendly and efficient. Atmosphere was cozy and music was nice.

Dylan L

We sat on the patio. Very cosy and warm, like sitting in our family’s backyard. We were offered blankets to stay warm. Our server (Emilie) was excellent. We had the rabbit poutine (must have), french onion soup and rabbit saddle (rabbit meat was dry but delicious with the sauce) along with some mulled wine and boréale stout. Ended with a raspberry bread pudding (which was the best part) and long espresso. A scrumptious meal! A wonderful experience.

The food is kindaokay but the staff who served us is super nice. We've waited for soooo long until we got our food, our friends at another table finished first and then we finally got the food, but it's nice to try though

Sara Boers

Really cute restaurant in a great location! The food was amazing, we got the rabbit pot pie and seafood cassoulet. I'm certain that you can't go wrong no matter what you order, everything we saw come out of the kitchen looked amazing!

Charming spot featuring dishes with rabbit. Nice patio space both covered and uncovered. Delightful savoury and sweet brunch options including combinations with both! The crepes are lovely with berries, maple syrup and yogurt accented with citrus. The eggs benedict with rabbit confit was delicious with a well made hollandaise. The toast on the side was perhaps more food than required.

Somewhat disappointing for a hugely popular restaurant in the heart of Old Quebec The restaurant is very busy, even at 8 o’clock at night on a Tuesday we still had to wait for about 30 min for a table of 4. It is located in the busiest street in Petit Champlain area of Old Quebec, next to a nice community park, with beautiful patio. Staff was super friendly and attentive, giving suggestions and explained patiently everything to our kids. What came short was the food, quality and price. What made this restaurant well known is the rabbit dish, unfortunately the roasted rabbit had no taste whatsoever, the meat was dry, exterior was over cooked and portions very small. We ordered the duck and rabbit shareable platter for two, it was hardly enough for just one of us. For $76 we would expect a full course meal for two instead. Red wine selections were also limited. Their house soda was excellent though! Would not recommend this restaurant to friends.

Great service, delicious food, incredibly tasty and not that much more expensive than other restaurants. Will definitely come back here on my next Quebec trip!

Scott Lee

Loved my experience here! The staff were all very accommodating and nice and the food was outstanding. I don’t eat a lot of rabbit but I can say that they know how to cook them. The appetizers and desserts were also very well done. I recommend that you try the rillettes as an appetizer and the saddle of rabbit as the main, and you won’t be disappointed!

This is a highly recommended restaurant in old Quebec city. I was here in 2017, and it is just as good as I remember. We ordered the platter for two to share and it has a little of everything (rabbit pâté, foie gras, duck leg, rabbit leg, and delicious seasonal sides). The cheese fondue was also a good addition to the platter. The honey pie was a perfect combination of salty and sweet. The drinks menu also had plenty of good flavours to choose from. This place is simply fantastic. I would eat here again in a heart beat.

Amazing experience. Friendly and helpful staff even though they were busy. Accomdating to English. French onion soup and rabbit pie were delicious. A very warm and hearty meal. I was so preoccupied with the meal that I forgot to take pictures.

Favourite memory from our trip! Before we even walked through the door, the host was so friendly and she greeted us with such a lovely personality! The atmosphere is quite romantic and there is also outdoor seating. The food was all amazing, we each did the Build-Your-Own type of menu which adds an appetizer, dessert, and coffee/tea for $16 (additional $5 for the duck foie gras). The food was amazing, and the servers were extremely pleasant (and not too insistent on checking in every 2 seconds haha). I think the winner's of the night were the duck foie gras (with raspberry and blueberry jams), the tagliatelle with braised rabbit (with candied roasted nuts, yum!), and the chocolate lava cake with a shot of stout. We also ordered a cocktail each, so our total bill came up to about $130 before tip. Would 100% recommended this restaurant to others, and will definitely go back another time. I would also suggest making a reservation as this place is quite popular. Thank you Lapin for a lovely experience! Can't wait to see you again!

Honestly pretty disappointed. Got the hot hamburger (daily menu) and the rabbit poutine. The rabbit was literally a wet mush… it tasted like blended canned chicken… super weird taste and there is no gravy in the “poutine”, just the mustard/devil sauce. The hamburger came with “pickled vegetables” which was literally a mini pickle and an olive. Not impressed at all. The only thing good about this place is the outdoor dining (which we did not get despite having a reservation made 3 days in advance). Won’t recommend this place to anyone.

Katiuska Ramirez

I was well taken care of during my visit. My friend in England had made the reservation ahead of time. The food is delicious and the service is great! The ambience was lovely! A wonderful experience!

Pum NK (Pummy)

Very cozy place. They are known for the rabbit meat, just like its name. Reservation is highly recommend. We had a sample platter of rabbit and duck. It was so good, enough to share for 2 ppl. Creme Brule is a nice finish. Even the place is small but the price is not as small ???? prepare to pay for your experience.

Julia송정훈

Super cozy, small space but great atmosphere. We ordered the tout lapin tout canard and pasta with oyster mushroom cream and parmesan. The vegetables on tout lapin tout canard complemented the meat well. The server was very attentive, brought us different knifes when we had trouble cutting the meat. Portion is large, and is affordable. I would definitely come back. It does get really busy, so they might take your name, and tell you to come back in a few hours. If you plan to visit, put your name down first, and tour around the streets.

Yuqing Mao

Ordered the French onion soup and the rabbit and duck platter. The soup was great, but the rabbit and duck were extremely dry. Expected better, at least for the rabbit, since that’s their specialty.

Rebecca Fountain

I have been to Quebec so many times, and this is the second time we eat here. Love their beautiful cozy decorated restaurant and the inviting patio. We ordered Duck Foie gras terrine with blueberry compote and cranberry salsa for appetizer, the main course we ordered (Quebec discoveries) Applewood-smoked duck breast, maple whiskey smoked salmon candies, rabbit fin renard cheese, sea Trout and rabbit poutine. Everything was so delicious... we emptied out all plates. Customer services is excellent. Small and cozy restaurant I recommend to make reservation.

Thomas Public Thuene

We had a lovely experience here. The food and wine was wonderful, and the seating is nothing short of romantic. I would recommend some bug spray, simply because it is humid in Quebec this time of the year, and mosquitos know that. It is a pity that in the US you hardly ever get duck, and almost nowhere you would get rabbit. Here you actually get. The meal was locally sourced and tasted very traditionally, without at all being boring.

Michelle Lee

My first stop at Quebec City trip! I was greeted by two friendly employees who were nothing but welcoming and accommodating. I ordered a cassoulets with duck sausage and rabbit leg. It was a perfect portion size, and the dish was satisfying and delicious. The rabbit leg was well cooked and tender that it fell off easily from the bone, and the other ingredients in the dish were well seasoned as well. In my opinion the rabbit leg could have been more seasoned along with the other ingredients, but it was delicious nonetheless. I recommend this restaurant!

James P

Always have a least one meal when I am in town. Great food and the most relaxing atmosphere.

Dominik G

An amazing and cosy restaurant in the heart of Old Quebec City. Was already full for reservations when we called earlier, but when we were walking by the restaurant we decided to ask in person about a reservation for the next night. The staff advised we could immediately have a table that had just become available. One of the best meals we've had in a while. The cocktail specials were interesting and tasty. We each chose to do the table d'hote special of appetizer, entree, dessert and coffee or tea; an excellent value for food that is superb. The staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive. Highly recommended.

YoonJae Lee

Finally made it! This famous ???? restaurant. The restaurant inside is not big but cozy. Servers are kind. We(2) got a Tout Lapin Tout Canard platter so we get to try duck and rabbit cooked in different ways (including foie gras). They explained each part of the platter and how to eat. We had a lot of fun trying rabbit for the first time!

Dave Young

Le Lapin Sauté had beautiful outdoor seating, a scrumptious brunch, and great location. We were seated in an outdoor area that resembled a garden with some trees and swinging benches surrounding. We had the brunch plate and crepes, and even the kids ate all of the huge meal, impressive with their picky taste. Coffee was great as well. We also got lucky in that there was a piano performer playing that vanished the short wait time and filled the brunch with the sound of beautiful music. Would highly recommend.
