This is a nice spot to stop for a bottle of wine and a charcuterie board but that's about all. We were sorely disappointed in our main courses. The steak filet was thin, tasteless and very overcooked. The french fries were not fresh, they were frozen. My husband's duck and sausage were both very unremarkable. The customers next to us appeared to enjoy their French onion soup though so it appears this would be a good spot to stop for lunch.

We came on labour day weekend, two couples with two kids under the age of two in strollers! Wow is all I have to say for this restaurant! They rejigged the tables for us to sit comfortably with our kids in their strollers (while they slept…yess..!!) beside us. The team didn’t make any fuss, no frustration at all, they were happy to help us and we felt welcomed! They provide immaculate service (thanks to Elisa and Reine-Lise), were gracious, informative and the food, was DELICILOUS! We felt like we were their family! It was the highlight of our trip to Quebec City, we would recommend this place for the food, the care and especially the atmosphere of ease and grace they provided to our families for a wonderful meal!

A cute little restaurant in the heart of old Quebec with lots of character. To be honest, I’d say this place was kind of overrated. The food was good, but lacked the overall quality of being top notch. We started with the Aranchini ball (just one ball) for $14 which was very underwhelming, barely worth half the amount we paid in my opinion. And for the mains, I went casual with the Elk and Brie burger and my girlfriend got the Mushroom Ravioli. Both were good dishes but were still underwhelming given the expectations ahead of time. Sadly, I can’t give this place more than a 3 star for the sole reason being, it’s fine dining prices, for somewhat casual food quality.

My hisband and two boys ate here. It was a very pleasant experience. The staff was accomodating and helpful. My oldest son wanted to try the sweetbreads for the first time,and he was extremely happy with his choice. My other son had the duck and liked it as well. I had the mushroom ravioli and really enjoyed it too.... cream sauce was delicious. We all shared a piece of maple cake as we were full. We devoured it. It did not disappoint. Wish I would have had room for my own piece.

Cozy French bistro in Quartier Petit Champlain with very friendly service. The food is French bistro inspired which is quite satisfying. This is a good choice for the walk around the historic lower town,FABULOUS! Best Fish and Chips ever. Cod was huge, moist and delicious! Steak Afro Ted was outstanding. Both came w scrumptious salad and fries. Anne Kim was the best server. Maple cake dessert is amazing!

First, the host outside was warm, light-hearted and funny. We quickly felt comfortable. Then, Florence took over and took care of us during the two hours of our supper; she asked questions about our tastes to create good pairings, she was honest in her answers about the quality of food and alcohol, she had us taste wines to make sure we liked everything and she allowed us to adapt the menu and alcohol according to our diets and food allergies! The food was excellent. The deer medallion was a bit overcooked, but the whole thing was very good nonetheless. In addition, someone who appears to be a manager of the place came to see us twice to make sure everything was fine for us and also to advise us that the cook was taking the subject of allergies very seriously. In this sense, a little extra time was allocated for cooking our food to ensure that other allergens did not come into contact with our dishes and that all surfaces were suitable for safe cooking. I would like to thank the whole team and the cook for this special attention. I recommend this place 100% for all the reasons mentioned above, but I emphasize even more the fact that they seem to have adapted despite the difficult conditions in restoration of the last months and this, without making one feel that the quality of the service and meals were affected. Not sure why the rating for this restaurant is so high. Apart from the warm chicken salad the rest of the food is pretty bad. We ordered the french onion soup and it taste like salt water. The deer meat was dry and tasteless so was the fish and chips. The duck confit was also very dry and salty. Having said that the service is good.

The is a cozy little place in a quaint street. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food, well, my wife's Wild Mushroom Ravioli was exceptional, maybe the best we have had so far, even on our travels in Italy. But my black pepper steak. Well to begin with, there were more fries than steak itself, there was no option for baked or mashed potato and the worst thing, the steak was cold, well luke warm to be precise. That's not the way I want my steak. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she offered to have it cooked against, but then my medium steak would have turned into well-done, which I didn't want either. I wasn't offered a replacement, which was hugely disappointing. In a nutshell I didn't enjoy my meal but my wife did. That's why 3 stars.

The restaurant is beautiful and the staff was fantastic! we did call ahead for reservations *(recommend) and did not have to wait when we arrived. This is an upscale dining experience and is not a quick in and out burger joint, so the meals cost a bit more but the quality is definitely there.. I recommend this location. Did I mention that the restaurant is located in the heart of the old city? so take a stroll after a great meal and enjoy all the city has to offer!

I enjoyed my experience in this cosy restaurant. You can taste a delicious dish full of flavours and really authentic. I took Salmon dish, which was served with roasted vegetables and rice with a delicious sauce. The signature dessert of the restaurant is Chômeur which is a wet cade soaked in maple syrop served hot and with creme. It was perfect. I highly recommend this place.

My wife and I had lunch here on a Thursday in June 2017. We enjoyed it because of the setting. We sat on a front porch while we ate, and we watched all the tourists and shoppers walk by as we sat there. Nice spot. However the food is just average. The signature french onion soup tasted bland. Teriyaki shrimp appetizer was tasty. Most lunch entrees exceed $20. It's a tourist trap. Not bad. Great place to sit and relax outdoors.

The place is very small, but we managed to find an empty table during lunch time, waiting only five minutes, without a reservation. But the next day the waitress told us the restaurant was full and there would be a table for us in only 45 minutes. We were really disappointed but we knew that this restaurant was extremely popular.

Very disappointing! We had heard good things but that was not our experience. We had reserved a table but when we arrived on schedule we were initially ignored by staff. Eventually we were seated at a table for two indoors, but soon realized there was large group in the small indoor space talking and laughing loudly. It was obvious all the diners at the other tables were annoyed by this but the group obviously couldn't have cared less about the other diners. We sat at our table for 15 minutes and were completely ignored; we were not even offered a glass of water! Since there was no sign of us ever being served, we decided our only choice was to up and leave, something we've never done in our 40+ years of dining out. As we were standing to leave, the couple next to us said they had been coming to this restaurant for 14 years and never seen anything like the chaos we experienced. I guess it was just our bad luck, then.

Sous le Fort is a tiny little bistro on Rue Sous le Fort, just down the road from the Funiculaire. We were walking by and stopped to look at the menu when the door opened and a sweet lady told us to come right in. No choice now, we thought! This tiny bistro had excellent food, and we ate there twice during our week in Quebec. The ELK BURGER was the best - we had it twice - and their French onion soup was incredible. The restaurant's fireplace was going when we got there, and we sat at the window, where we could see people passing along the iconic Quebec street. One of the owners served us the second time we ate at the restaurant (Katherine) and she was wonderful. Excellent! Get the elk burger! (Unfortunately, I don't have a photo... but their poutine was also delicious.)

This is an awesome French Bistro in a charming location! I was intrigued by the sweetbreads on the menu and I decided to order them. I was not disappointed! While it may be hard due to the large portions and how good the food is, make sure to leave room for a piece of maple cake for dessert. It was the perfect ending to a great meal! Based on reviews I thought I would try this restaurant even though it was empty when I went there. Restaurant was nice inside and I was hoping that food would be great but I was disappointed. I had the French Onion soup and there were barely any onions in the soup, it was not hot and the croutons were from a bag and tasted stale. How difficult is it to have more onions in the Onion Soup and then toast a couple pieces of baguette for the soup. I then had the elk burger which looked like it was bought at fast food restaurant and thrown on the plate along with the fries from a combo meal. The burger had one small slice of tomato, one small piece of iceburg lettuce and a small amount of the cheese. It tasted okay but could have been so much better with a little effort. Salad that comes with burger was fresh and the dressing was good. Server was attentive and friendly. Not sure if it was an off night but based on what I experienced it should not have such high ratings. I won’t be dining at this place next time in Quebec.

This place was great. So much so we went back a second time and left a 50% tip. I didn't get his name but it seemed like the main host was our server and he made the whole night spectacular. The first time we went to this place he eagerly greeted us and fit us in despite not having a reservation. He was nice. The second time he was our server and really enjoys what he does. He talked with us a bunch and recommended different things and cracked a few jokes. We loved every moment. The food is also top knotch. I had the mushroom ravioli the first time and the salmon the second. My husband had the elk burger both times. Just a great experience. I highly recommend it.

Tucked away in one of Québec Old Port’s winding alleyways sits this charming little bistro. The food options range in all sorts of flavors, and the portions are great! We enjoyed the bison burger and the quiche, both excellent and very shareable. The service was so very friendly and the prices superb. ???????? This caliber of restaurant, with their hospitality and overall vibe, would be much more expensive in the United States, in our opinion. We got to sit right next to a window in the rosy light, watching the passers-by as they snapped quick pictures of the ice sculptures outside our window. Such a lovely experience...check it out if you’re here!

After our dinner they brought us Maple liquors with sparkler in it for our celebration. They thought of everything. The Maple cake was to die for a must even if you are full. This is a lovely little restaurant a few hundred feet from the funicular station after you descend from the Hotel Frontenac. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a memorable family meal - everything was well prepared, tasty, and nicely presented. Among the appetizers we tried the wild-boar spring rolls (my favorite), the duck rillettes (excellent also), tempura shrimp and french onion soup (can't go wrong here). Their fish-n-chips were very good. All of this washed down with a bottle of their Smoking Loon Pinot grigio. The staff at this bistro really made us feel at home and together with the food and decor created a wonderful ambience! Will definitely eat here again on our next visit to Quebec!

L'accueil très chaleureux et courtois. Les aliments sont très bien. Mais pour un bistrot c'est plus qu'excellent. Je donne cependant une médaille d'or à leur soupe à l'oignon gratinée. Juste pour cela ça vaut la peine d'aller faire un tour. Elle est vraiment imbattable. Le service est impeccable et très professionnel. La présentation des tables est très originale et invitante. Les prix sont plutôt honnêtes surtout pour le secteur. Il y a une charmante terrasse chauffée, Wi-fi gratuit. Vraiment, je suis étonné et je recommande.

I am not sure what happened. Such a bad experience. We went there for the good reviews this place had. Last night there was a server lady there and she was super rude with us. We left because of her. First she brought 4 glasses of water tumbling all over the place dripping water on our table. I want in for a quick chicken salad at lunch and it was excellent..and also gluten free! The decor is comfortable. It's a mix of rustic and modern. This bistro is in a great location if you are looking to check out the little strip of shops in lower town. It's on one of the cobblestone streets and close to the water, so it's a good area for a stroll. There are also plenty of other restaurants around, so you can also eat and then look around for your next meal, if you're staying in the area from our of town. It's relatively close to the lift up the hill.

An excellent gem of a restaurant. We happened across it while strolling through old Quebec City and thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was excellent, good wine and great food. Excellent food and amazing attention. You'll have to wait in line for a bit but it's definitely worth the wait. Servers were very helpful, they helped me to charge my phone and also stored my bags until I was done with lunch. I had two entrees and they were very good. Definitely a must go place if you're visiting Quebec city.

My friend and I were walking around Petit Champlain dying of starvation. We looked up this place which had 4.8 stars and decided to eat here. Walked up to the door we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman which asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, however the wait was only 15 min so we decided to go to a nearby pub to just have a quick brew. We came back and sat down in fairly small but cozy restaurant that's got a very intimate and unique atmosphere. Our waiter Rafael was quite the conversationalist, entertained me in perfect English and my friend en Francais. He made some great recommendation on the food and drinks. I ordered the duck confit, it was delectable and probably the best duck I've ever tasted. Definitely recommend this place for the atmosphere, food and service.

Had New Years 2018/19 dinner here and wasn’t disappointed. Probably seats no more then 24 people at a time. Food was excellent, and staff didn’t make me feel rushed even though they were closing and I’m sure wanted to leave for their own celebrations. Wish I could have sampled more of the menu, will visit here again for sure.

This was our first meal upon arriving in Quebec. Was a little concerned because it's in a very touristy area, but the food and service did not disappoint. Not the best meal we had, but a good way to start out. We had the quiche and the elk burger, both of which were quite tasty. I've never had a quiche with pistachios baked into it before, so that was a different experience, worked well. Lots of great people watching from here, too.

My husband and I had one of the best meals of our lives at Bistro Sous le Fort, and with the absolute best service. It's a tiny place in an area with lots of cute shops within walking distance. When we are back in Quebec City, we will dedfinitely return to this restuarant.

Stumbled upon this cozy restaurant and I’m so glad I did. The server was able to seat us almost right away and she was so personable and attentive the whole time. I was so amazed by the service and food! The French onion soup was good and the mushroom ravioli was life changing! My partner got the elk burger with the poutine upgrade (I was too hungry to take a pic) and that was delicious as well!

There are so many lovely restaurants in QC; I recommend this one for the delicious food of course, but also the fantastic service. We could struggle through with lousy French but our waitress seemed happy to switch to English. Also a nice selection of gluten free food and it's a relief to have it listed in the menu. Highly recommend; try the brie appetizer and I'm told they make the best French onion soup in town as well. Bon appetit!

On the left as you walk down Rue sous le Fort, getting off the funicular. Very friendly service, relaxed and cool outdoor seating, excellent place for lunch on a hot summer day. Excellent mushroom ravioli, burger and fried fish. Indoor seating is a bit cramped.

Lovely setting on a quaint street. Our waitress was very friendly and service was prompt. She came back several times to see if we were enjoying our food. My daughter had the mushroom ravioli which she really enjoyed. I had the goats cheese quiche which was delicious. We finished with the warm chocolate cake. Lovely ambience and delicious food, would highly recommend.

The staff was very friendly, the food is great, and the location is perfect. We had the Venison and Duck, they were both excellent. The Maple Cake is the best dessert I've ever had. Let me repeat that; THE MAPLE CAKE IS THE BEST DESERT I'VE EVER HAD. I don't say this lightly, and if I find a better desert, I promise to edit this review. Get it, you won't be sorry.

Visited there last week ( Sunday ) , we had a reservation at 5 . We have been served by grumpy waitress and we have bee given warning that we need to leave by 6 as they have another reservation. I ordered the union soup was just ok ( nothing special) . Then order the burger which the first bite was tasteless to me and when when I was about the take the second one, I saw a big hair in my food ! I called the manager and her only response to me that we are human and this happens! Worth mentioning that didn’t charge me and offered me few glasses of wine for free which I appreciate

My husband and I were wondering where to eat on a night when everything seemed to be closed, and then one of the ladies working here called us in from the cold and told us we could get take out. I loved having dinner here last Saturday night. I finally found a restaurant in Quebec City that has food that I wanted to eat. There were many options that spanned from light to rich and decadent (most restaurants seem to only have options swimming in duck fat or carbs). I really enjoyed having the gravlax appetizer and quiche for dinner. The service was excellent and they were able to take us as walk-ins.
