Best Chinese food in town. I love the hot turkey sandwiches. The wonton soup, A-7 (Cantonese sweet and sour pork), A-50 (salt and pepper pork chops) and the burgers are also great. Dim Sum on sundays!

Went to the restaurant last night, there were a few tables full of people dining in. The server asked me if I was picking up an order, I said no I'd like to sit and eat. She brings me a menu at the door and says I can order take out. I asked if dine in was open, she replied yes so I said I'd prefer to eat in. She looks at the patrons, and then looks at me and goes 'take out?' no, I'd like to eat in. I'm staying in a hotel and don't have the option of plates and cutlery at my hotel. She sits me over at the bar which is filthy by the way, and lets me order. I start to notice the place is very dirty and the glass cooler is so gross you could hardly see through the glass! THEN she brings my food in a paper bag and says 'you take it to go' so, I leave with my food because I'm clearly not wanted here. My lemon chicken was chewy and most was just batter no chicken, my s&s spare ribs were just battered bones literally no meat. And the pork on my chow mein was horrid. How on earth does this place have a good rating? I will be reporting the filth to northern health as well. If you aren't a local, don't bother going unless you want a very awkward experience.

It's not bad food. It's fairly typical for a northern small town place. The food is of the whitewashed, bastardized variety. It consists mostly of Chinese dishes that have never actually existed in China. The people there are friendly and the you get fairly good value for money. And yah, it's not authentic but bottom line, it tastes good

It was not as good as useal but still good. They where busy so that could have had something to do with it I had the number 1 fried rice chicken chowmein and boneless pork . Old style 1970 but sometimes those are the best places. Average price service was fast.

It’s really nice to come to a strange town and receive top notch service and good food in a comforting and relaxed environment with a great atmosphere, Great West provided all of this within moments of me sitting down. I always approach new restaurants with a bit of trepidation as you never really know what to expect, this place looked like it predominantly catered to western tastes which it does but I was delighted to find traditional dishes and tofu on the menu my favourite hot pot “8 jewels hot pot” was called “special tofu hot pot” but was still the delightful mix of tofu, vegetables, seafood and pork, absolutely delicious and for kicks I tried the almond chicken which was superb, they also have Mapo Tofu and a host of other dishes. The place was busy with family after family of people packing the place, the servers were excellent fast polite and very kind, and it was wild to watch them hustle and yet be so efficient, great service! The owner was also very nice and has a great sense of humour, the place was very clean and bright so it was very comfortable to enjoy a meal here and I can truly understand why it’s so popular!

Food was okay but they messed up the order then asked for the food back... Who asks for the food back kinda makes me wonder how much food is "returned" food there. The chicken in the rice was very firm. That was a little odd that the chicken was so hard. So be warned you might get returned food who knows where it was.

Im chinese and from Vancouver, so thats my credibility. I go the Prince Rupert a few times a year for work and this is my go-to when I feel like chinese food. I havent tried their western food. If you want as close to Vancouver chinese food, order from the Chinese Menu, all dishes start with "A". The chow meins from the menu section below Soups and Noodles are what I call the HWY 16 chinese, basically plain instant noodles topped with whatever meat you pick. This is what is served at most chinese restaurants between Prince Rupert to Vanderhoof. Its also the "Chow Mein" you get with the combo meals. Ive enjoyed the chinese ive eaten from the Chinese Menu, its not as flavourful as what you get in Vancouver, but its pretty darn close.

Greasy greasy greasy food. Waaay over priced. Definitely won't be coming back here. Fried rice was just white rice, bland no flavour. Beef broccoli was so greasy it was almost impossible to enjoy. Wonton soup was a bowl of grease I didn't even eat it.

Will never eat here again! We ordered curried chicken and special fried rice. Both dishes were greasy and the meat in the special fried rice looked like diced up sandwich meat. Really! It was gross!! The service was excellent, friendly and fun. Too bad the kitchen lacks talent.

Best dim sum in town... 50's diner/Chinese food/Canadian food. I like the place because you can eat different kinds of food. I really like the hot turkey sandwich, and cheese deluxe. The A7 is the best for Chinese food. Love the lettuce wraps when they make them, egg rolls are a bit too pricey. The milkshakes are really good as well as the wonton soup. Salt and pepper porkchops are delicious! Overall great place.
